2015.07.27 21:21 wmblathers Gouache - Opaque Watercolor

Gouache is an opaque, water-based paint similar to watercolor, with which it is sometimes paired. It can be painted light over dark and dark over light, it dries quickly, it remains water soluble after dry, and requires no solvents to clean up. Note: Acryl(a) gouache is just acrylic paint formulated to dry with a matte finish. Designers like this because it's easier to scan or photograph. Acryl(a) gouache has different working properties than traditional gouache.

2024.05.15 21:09 Ianiks Any tips or tricks to utilizing my gear to the maximum efficiency for what I’m trying to achieve?

I mostly do real estate photography but im finding it soulless and unrewarding. I really want to start photographing musical artists/fashionable artsy friends in a similarly creative and eye-catching way. A lot of the other photographers in my town shoot on medium fortmat film and have work that i cant even begin to imagine matching up to or surpassing, but i really want to elevate my own work into something unique that makes people want to book shoots with me. I love the 90's japanese magazine editorial styles i see a lot of on the internet, and have recently decided to invest in lighting gear, as before, i was almost exclusively an ambient light shooter and i'm doing hours of reading and watching on lighting principles, techniques, etc. Still have a good bit of gear left on my buying list, mostly lenses, light modifiers and stands. But my current setup is as follows:
( I also have a bunch of film cameras but im trying to lean more towards digital atm, for cost and convenience reasons)
I feel like this is more than enough stuff to get creative but I just feel like if someone asked for a shoot tomorrow, i wouldnt even know where to start. My best shoots have honestly been flukes that just happened to come out really nicely. I've never worked with stuff that gave me this much control and its almost overwhelming. I dont have many friends to practice shooting on, and having trouble getting a setup going without light stands (lol) but i was just wondering if anyone had some tips or tricks for things to try with some of this gear or ways to maximize it's efficiency off-rip. Suggestions of any kind are welcome! Thank you friends, i apologize for my messy and unorganized post, i can be pretty scatterbrained when trying to fully realize things of this scale

2024.05.15 20:57 OriginalSprinkles718 [PS5/PS4] List of 100+ mods with correct LOAD ORDER - Difficult and satisfying survival challenge.

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST.

This took weeks of picking and testing mods
Played on PS5, should work on PS4
Order is stable, no crashes
New game on survival difficulty required
All 6 DLCs needed
No unbalanced cheat mods added
Very difficult but satisfying and immersive
Adding other mods will break stuff, ask in comments
Not tested on PS4 or PS4 Pro performance-wise

OVERVIEW

This modlist is for people enjoying difficult challenge, exploration, combat, managing settlements and a bit of building. No more bullet sponges, loot/enemy respawns and rambo playstyle!
In the beginning you are no one. You leave the vault weak, tired, with barely any gear. Avoid most encounters and quests at the start. Try to survive, build a safe spot and carefully explore. Be aware of your surroundings, use what you find.
Saving often in beds and making 'autosave drug' at the earliest possibility is a good idea (nearest chemistry workbench is at Abernathy Farm). Save menu is always on top of MISC category in Pip-Boy.
Discovering new places gives plenty of exp in the beginning, but quests are your main exp income.
Exploring safer areas like Sanctuary, Concord and smaller settlements first (avoiding powerful enemies) recommended. There might be a lot of combat in the background. Don't engage much, especially avoid supermutants, robots, turrets, bears - they are deadly even for high level, well developed characters. Raiders also hit hard, depending on their weapon and rank.
Weapon caliber makes huge damage difference. 10mm is pretty weak, but if you find rare .50cal rounds or some good explosives, you should eliminate tougher targets much more easily.
Investing in stats right after level 15 is a good idea. STR for carry weight, PER for accuracy, END for health, CHA for better prices, INT for more exp, AGI for sneak and speed, LCK for dmg and loot. Be sure of your choices. Watch out for 'revealing all map markers' and 'slow time when aiming' perks. Be sure you want and like them, there is no going back.
Deathclaw in the early minuteman quest is tough - try to use explosives to break his legs and some high caliber weapons to finish him off by shooting his face. Or maybe you'll get lucky and raiders will kill him. Or just simply avoid him until you get proper gear.
Don't waste ammo on zombies, use melee. Bullets are valuable. However zombies can grab and instantly kill you if your HP is very low, so watch out on low, early levels!
Aim for the head for much higher damage. Concentrating damage on arms or legs to rip them off is a good strategy too. Raider without arms wont do much to you except running around and alerting nearby enemies, that is.
Damage types are important. Ballistic damage is not efficient against turrets, melee against radroaches and so on. You need to figure out yourself whats best strategy.
Develop and protect your settlements, put walls to protect generators and other important structures. Repairing is costly. Gear up settlers. Scraping and cleaning settlements is a good early source of components.
Try to fully explore the map, kill enemies and do all quests. Most loot and enemies wont ever respawn so this is your chance to find new secrets in Commonwealth and clear the place.

========== CHANGES ==========

Combat, Enemies

  • Enemies will flank, charge, take cover, run in fear, use and pick up ammo & weapons, swap to backup gun and so on.
  • Headshots or weakspot hits do much higher damage than torso shots.
  • Gun caliber greatly affects damage, explosives are powerful and damage type matters.
  • Foes have special moves like biting and holding leg, wrestling moves, kicks. Dependent on enemy type and briefly stuns you.

Sound, Graphic

  • Sounds are less flat because of added reverb and other tweaks.
  • Very dark nights with wide, helpful flashlight.
  • Atmospheric lightning: beautiful light from lantern and fire sources, dusk, dawn, moon, plus bullets illuminate environment when flying around.
  • No dreadful, annoying, unimmersive: combat music, hearthbeat, sounds of generators, turrets, exp gain sound, most perk triggers and perk chart.

Crafting, Modifying

  • Making/disasembling ammo and also creating various shipments. Upgrading clothes, rings, glasses in different ways.
  • Legendary swapping, crafting legendary effects using technical documents. Some effects have been adjusted.
  • Added crafting of new, lower damage explosives, but they have unique effects for ease of use.

Perks, SPECIAL

  • STR affects carry weight, PER accuracy, END is health, max AP, CHA for better prices, INT for more exp, AGI for sneak, walk and reload speed, LCK for small dmg boost, loot, critical hits outside VATS and while using it.
  • Leveling up does not give you health. You rely on stats, bonuses, gear.
  • Perks tree mostly changed, level 15 needed to start increasing Special base stats, level of around 100 to increase stat to 10. To get all perks you would need 300 levels, so new modified 'idiot savant' will help a lot.
  • Collecting magazines, bobbleheads, companion perks is now more helpful and recommended.
  • Some skills are changed, reordered, much more interesting and useful.
  • More perks are needed for crafting, especially science perk is required for most technology related stuff.
  • Lockpicking everything is available instantly from level one, but perks and AGI make it reasonably easier. Bobby pins are more rare.
  • Hacking is simplified to not do the repeating minigame. Now holotapes to reprogram and override terminals might be of use.

Settlements, Building

  • Expensive build costs of robot workbenches, turrets, big generators, so buying component shipments is justified.
  • You can hire guards for caps or risk settlers lives on the usual guard posts.
  • Can't harvest planted fruit and veg, you get your fair share in workbench instead.
  • Collecting resources by settlers changed. Bigger variety of settlers and they are now mortal.
  • More objects to build and decorate your bases.

Locations, Loot

  • Items like meds and ammo are harder to find and exist in appropriate containers.
  • New map markers and few minuteman towers as a small addition to explore.
  • Quick travel available, but only to settlements.
  • Only rare enemies like bosses drop legendaries. And many more...

Before you download:

  • Safe to remove/swap mods are listed below the modlist, just in case you don't like or want some of them. Rest needs to be kept for balance or glitch removal, but only in the CORRECT ORDER!

Known issues, bugs, glitches, exploits:

Some of those are present in vanilla game. I just mention every problem encountered during testing and not fully fixed. - Ground textures in and around sanctuary flicker black. FIX: Fixes itself. Possibly after short time or reload. - Creature cages cost too much in building menu. NO FIX: Did not found a safe and balanced fix yet, so cages are most likely out of reach, because cost is absurd. - Green chest containing flare gun and 10k flares after exiting vault 111. FIX: Mod dev forgot to delete it. Ignore it or if it bothers you much, remove mod #83, which I don't recommend doing. - Hubby secret basement in Sanctuary. NO FIX: Its up to you if you want to use its content. Just easier difficulty option, but not game breaking. - Hacking rank 4 seems useless or has wrong description. NO FIX: Needs proper check. - Wall turrets sometimes glitches and play sound on repeat. FIX: Re-enter the area or reload save. - Contact frag mines seems to have too low damage. FIX: Just dont craft them. Rest of new explosives should work fine even that it shows low damage values in description. - Perception low, constant (-1) PER in stats because of poison damage/resistance bug. FIX: Add mod #110 and equip perception rings. Dont delete the mod. Cant find safer solution for now. Rings dont take equipment slots. - Action girl perk have only one rank on female character and two on male. NO FIX: Just 25% AP regen loss at high level. Not a big deal. - Bubblegum seems to unintentionally quench thirst a bit and kind vendors give it for free. NO FIX: Free candies. Its better to use them to slow down time. - Incorrect cost to build concrete foundations. Sharp By Design Derecho in M390 - Frost Fat Carbon + Skiffs <> SV 309

Action: Fires hard & shakes shut smnoothly & easily
Lockup/Centering: Both perfect
Mods: Added Skiff bearings: 1/4 in - 1/16 in - 13 ball
Blade/Edge Condition: Factory edge, used to open one package. When I received the knife, it had a small rust spot near the outward end of the show side fuller. I used a rust eraser to gently erase the rust successfully, but in doing so there is a bit of a foggy look right slong the seam between where the bead blast ends & the primary grind satin begins. You have to be looking in the right light to see it, & though it's also difficult to get on camera.
Body Condition: No marks anywhere I can see other than maybe a couple extremely small snails on the clip
Carried: About 2 times in my room
Disassembly: Yes, to clean, lune, & add Skiffs
Ownership: Just me, bought new on preorder
Box/Papers: Includes all original materials
Notes: I wanted to point out the faint "foggy" section blade even though It's quite subtle. I'm really glad to see there's at least no sign any rust was ever there, so that part improved. But I've lowered the price acordingly from the shipped preorder total of ~$390.
This is an absolutely sick blade shape that destroys utility cuts. What a home run, so snappy & satisfying to reverse flick. I really hope this model becomes as popular as it should be!

Sharp By Design x Kaviso Mini Tempest in S90V - Drop Point Standard Flipper in 80s Camo Carbon + Skiffs <> SV 329

Action: Fires hard, though not as hard as the Mini Evo. But by nearly any other standard, the detent is phenomenal. Drops shut with nearly zero effort.
Lockup/Centering: Both perfect
Mods: Skiff bearings: 5mm - 1/16 in - 11 ball
Blade/Edge Condition: Factory edge, lightly run on Sharpmaker fine ceramic stones a couple times to get an extremely sharp, tiny microbevel.
Body Condition: No marks anywhere I can see
Carried: About 2 times in my room
Disassembly: Yes, to clean, lube, & add Skiffs
Ownership: Second owner, uncut with by both myslef & previous owner, I believe
Box/Papers: Includes all original materials
Notes: This knife is a freaking legend. I just have too many knives & I recently bought ANOTHER Evo 4.0, so something's gotta give!
<><><>

Kizer Towser K in 154CM - Red micarta, Acid stonewashed blade & clip <> SV 35

Action: Fires out with a super-dialed detent, & drops like a guillotine
Lockup/Centering: Centering slightly favors clip side, rock solid lockup
Mods: I acid stonewashed the blade & clip
Blade/Edge Condition: After refinishing the blade, I sharpened the knife on my Sharpmaker using medium grit, then fine grit stones. This resulted in a really thin secondary bevel. I planned to sharpen it on my Wicked Edge, but after testing this edge I found it's already unbelieveably sharp already. You'll see when you buy!
Body Condition: No marks anywhere I can see
Carried: About 5 times around the house, before modding
Disassembly: Yes, to clean, lube, & mod
Ownership: Just me, bought new
Box/Papers: Includes all original materials, including extra hardware
Notes: What a banger.
<><><>

Civivi Mini Asticus Purple G10 in 10Cr15CoMoV <> SV 24

Action: Snappy action, shakes shut with moderate shaking
Lockup/Centering: Both perfect
Mods: None
Blade/Edge Condition: Diamond 1000 grit @ 20°/side on my Wicked Edge then stropped on leather in 4 stages, new edge unused. The blade is extremely sharp.
Body Condition: No marks anywhere I can see
Carried: About 2 times
Disassembly: No
Ownership: Just me, bought new
Box/Papers: Includes all original materials except cloth
Notes: Great knife but sadly, I gotta make some room.
<><><>

Civivi Elementum in D2 - Ebony Wood <> SV 32

Action:
Lockup/Centering:
Mods: I tightened up the detent a bit, as it was originally a bit sluggish. Much better now, nice & snappy.
Blade/Edge Condition: Diamond @ about 1500 grit @ 20°/side on my Wicked Edge then stropped on leather in 4 stages, new edge unused. The blade is extremely sharp.
Body Condition: No marks anywhere I can see
Carried: About 5 times around the house
Disassembly: Yes, to clean, lube, & adjust detent
Ownership: Just me, bought new
Box/Papers: Includes all original materials, including unused cloth
Notes: This is a budget legend, & this is my favorite version of the original aside from the micarta version.

2024.05.15 20:53 OriginalSprinkles718 [PS5/PS4] List of 100+ mods with correct LOAD ORDER - Difficult and satisfying survival challenge.

[PS5/PS4] List of 100+ mods with correct LOAD ORDER - Difficult and satisfying survival challenge.

========== CHANGES ==========

Additionally after downloading:

  • After installing the mod list, restart your PS4/PS5.
  • Dont add or remove mods mid playthrough.
  • Change game difficulty to survival in options.
  • Play on performance 60fps. Newly added mode visual 60fps is more laggy and has awfull VATS framerate.
  • If you want even more immersive settings, go to Settings, Gameplay and turn off quest markers or crosshair.
  • Go to Options, Sound and reduce ambience level by 5-8 clicks and reverb by 2-3.
  • Dont forget to change camera sensitivity (I play on max), next go to Options, Display and change hud color to blue or any other that makes sense (not red), lower transparency by 30% or more, set pip-boy colour to your preference (I use red pip-boy and minty hud to have the best compatibility with highlighting perks and scopes).

You can add/swap some mods if you want:

101... Immortal Cats - PS4 - Invincible cats, so you don't lose happiness increase when they die. Add after mod #83 \ 102... [PS4] STS - Extras - Living & Dead - Season Pass Version - You can get extra resources from scraping dead bodies in settlements. Watch out not to scrap someone alive. Place after mod #82. \ 103... Josephine Preset - Nice looking preset number 13 for female character creation. Change hair and other details if you want. Delete after leaving vault111 and saving (if you need mod list space that is). Add after mod #55. \ 104... Faster Positive Affinity For Companions - Removes cooldown between companions liking/hating your actions and gain five times more positive affinity. Swap with mod #91 if you want more cheaty version. \ 105... Silent Main Menu - To mute main menu sound, find duplicate sound slider named 'Master sound' and move it all the way to the left. Add after mod #41. \ 106... Quieter Settlements PS4 - Contraptions DLC - Quieter production lines. I ran out of space on mod list so this and next one are optional. Add after mod #34. \ 107... Vrexia's Magical Rings - Add after #57 only if you get poison/perception bug where your PER is shown as (-1). You can offset it by equiping multiple rings from this mod (created at chem bench). Didnt found a better way yet. \ 111... Pip-Boy Flashlight (Brighter) - For a smaller, brighter flashlight swap #96 with #95 and replace #95 with this.

FIX: Use mod #20 to add tons of foundations in newly added category Structures-Concrete. - OCDecorator replaces creation club menu. FIX: Items from CC are still available in other building categories. Ignore or delete mod #24 + #25 if you dont care about its function. - Few perk descriptions might be slightly incorrect or missing. NO FIX: Nothing important to worry about. - Three street lights, powered water pump, industrial purifier and subway light have incorrect build costs. NO FIX: These have wrong values, but items like clean sofa or tv are more expensive to build on purpose though. - Pip-boy light wont transfer from first to third person camera view. FIX: Turn flashlight off and on. - Water surface sometimes flash black when moving underwater. NO FIX: Its not very noticable and you don't dive much in FO4 anyway. - Can't use Wattz Consumer Electronics terminal, animation stops. FIX: There is a radroach behind the wall. Kill it by swinging melee, explosives or reenter area. - Flashlight in Vault111 has incorrect beam look/color. FIX: It will fix itself after mods load right after you leave Vault111, dont worry.

2024.05.15 20:44 AffectionateFail8434 How to defeat Germany as USSR?

I tried having 5 full stacks of 10 infantry + AA and Engineer support to hold the line, and another 4 stacks of 9/2s with one AA and as much support company I could fit, with a final full stack of light tanks(default template). I also threw in a stack of the default calvary you start with.
I set these to hold the line behind the river by Kiev, Dnipro and Vitebsk with the exception of those cities being defended as well. I also upgraded the railways connecting them to level 5 and built level 5 bunkers. I produced as much decent custom fighters/cas as I could but was only able to get air superiority over Belarus despite doing focus’ to reduce penalties.
I built civs till ‘39 and spammed mils after that. I did most production focus’ as well.
When the Germans came the defensive line held out and I was mostly seeing green bubbles, so I switched my stronger offensive troops to attack. They couldn’t do anything….one tile was captured but after a while they broke through the line and I gave up. I don’t get what I’m doing wrong, help?

2024.05.15 20:40 OriginalSprinkles718 [FO4][PS5/PS4] List of 100+ mods with correct LOAD ORDER - Difficult and satisfying survival challenge.

[FO4][PS5/PS4] List of 100+ mods with correct LOAD ORDER - Difficult and satisfying survival challenge.

========== CHANGES ==========

- Foes have special moves like biting and holding leg, wrestling moves, kicks.

- No dreadful, annoying, unimmersive: combat music, hearthbeat, sounds of generators, turrets, exp gain sound, most perk triggers and perk chart.

Crafting, Modifying

  • Making/disasembling ammo and also creating various shipments. Upgrading clothes, rings, glasses in different ways.
  • Legendary swapping, crafting legendary effects using technical documents. Some effects have been adjusted.

- Added crafting of new, lower damage explosives, but they have unique effects for ease of use.

- Hacking is simplified to not do the repeating minigame.

- More objects to build and decorate your bases.

\ 107... Quieter Settlements PS4 - Wasteland Workshop - Quieter fusion generators. Add after mod #34. \ 108... [PS4] Simple Settlers (Immortal Edition) - Instead of #33, so generic settlers don't die during settlement attacks. \ 109...

Remove, if you want:

Stock, ugly Pip-Boy color - #3 \ No tinkering with legendary effects - #5 \ No powerful groups wandering and attacking places - #15 \ Radstags to be less agressive - #17 \ Dont care about building - #20 #21 #22 \ Dont care about decorating settlements - #24 #25 \ Annoying wandering brahmins instead of dogs - #31 \ Cash register sounds when gaining exp - #39 \ Old vanilla dusk and dawn lighting - #49 \ Don't use VATS much - #53 #54 #55 \ Prefer old combat scopes - #64 #65 #66 \ Don't want uncover map perk and will never unlock it - #84 \ Don't have any weapon skins from Creation Club - #90 \ Faster leveling - #92 \ To gain building EXP - #94 \ Start with 7 extra SPECIAL points to distribute - #97 \ Loot and enemies respawn after time - #98 \ Fast travel to take time - #99 \ Days be vanilla length - #100

FIX: It will fix itself after mods load right after you leave Vault111, dont worry.
v1.00 - Initial version.

2024.05.15 20:30 Ero_Najimi [BO] In depth multiplayer thoughts, great but highly flawed

Gonna start with the shortcomings
-Too much flinch. This is in every old COD but it didn’t standout until BO because previous titles were dominated by a faster TTK and hip firing. You can only get rid of it with hardened pro which is fun to use but sleight of hand and steady aim pro dominated tier 2. Luckily though this game still has a relatively fast TTK so it’s not a massive issue and I think some amount of flinch is necessary despite popular belief. Without a little flinch there’s nothing you can do to reverse a scenario where you were seen first and shot first. You’re already at the advantage so if you still lose the gunfight bc of flinch you arguably deserved to lose it
-TTK arguably too fast. It’s thought of a slow TTK game because it slower than anything else at the time, netcode being worse back then, and high recoil. But statistically that’s simply not true the Famas/AUG’s max TTK with frame rounding (RPM 900 instead of 937.5) if I’m not mistaken is 0.1333 ms. Commando Galil AK 720 instead of 750 without 2 headshots is 0.16667. AK74u and MP5 960 RPM 0.125. Compare that to BO2 AN-94 I’m not gonna try to figure out what it is because of the quirk but it’s slower than Famas/AUG. BO3 KN-44 0.192. I think BO3 has the best TTK but this one again I’d define as a minor issue because recoil keeps you from getting melted at mid to long range and it’s kinda fun to melt people with overpowered weapons the Famas is still my favorite gun ever
-Spy Plane 2 kills with hardline leading to spam. This is probably why Ghost being so effective wasn’t thought of an issue. They are easy to destroy as generally there’s no reason not to run a rocket as your secondary but is probably something that just shouldn’t exist
-This isn’t something I care about but I can see the argument for it. Default lethals and tacticals forcing flak jacket and tac mask. In the context of this game it helps with perk balance giving people another reason not to use ghost especially in OBJ modes but I can see the argument for BO2/3 approach’s of nerfing Ghost with something like the pick 10 system that reduces lethals/tacticals. It’s a double edged sword I like having guaranteed equipment and I usually don’t run ghost I’m either using flak jacket or hardline
-This one again isn’t something I necessarily care about but there’s no stock
-Attachments aren’t as useful in most older games and I don’t understand why they didn’t let you stack certain attachments which would have given you more reason to use warlord
-You probably noticed this earlier but too many guns being clones of each other and mediocre balance overall. Truthfully there’s not much reason to use the Commando Galil or AK over the Famas/AUG. Even the 74u and MP5 are barely better up close. The G11 is better at range. The M60 doesn’t have enough range and too much recoil. Stoner too much recoil. No reason to use MPL etc. The enfield is just a worse Commando etc
-These last ones are my biggest issues because it’s what hurts replayability for me. The Blackbird Chopper Dogs combo is one of the greatest in COD history but the other combos don’t do much. The Gunship is really just a Chopper that costs more both get destroyed by 3 missiles always found that odd. It should have been Attack Helicopter 2 missiles, Chopper 3, Gunship 4. You can’t use Gunship+Dogs and the was designed to suck since it’s a low streak. Dogs are useful for helping the Chopper but in this game they’re not THAT great on their own because there’s only 4 at a time. If you stack Blackbird+Dogs that tends to put in more work but we can’t cycle through the streaks so it’s not possible to do that while having a Chopper to use afterwards. I really wish they had just put in a 12th powerful AI air streak to run with Dogs. It’s also strange how they make you pick between the rolling thunder and blackbird, the blackbird is strictly superior you’d only use the rolling thunder for fun. Death Machine and Grim Reaper shouldn’t have been care package exclusive
-TDM 75, TDM 100 or ideally just unlimited kills with a time limit is more replayable because you can go for higher kill counts/streak loops. Once the games “die” TDM is all you can play so this really stands out if you hop on today
-Maybe this is just me but I wish Ghost Pro didn’t have Blind Eye built in it’s a wonder that this didn’t ruin the Chopper I guess because of prestige resetting everyone and Ghost Pro being somewhat difficult to get
Now for the positives
-Streaks aren’t overpriced. This is something that really annoys me about newemodern CODs ever since the introduction of the scorestreak system. I didn’t list killstreaks as a negative not only because I just don’t agree with the philosophy of giving someone a streak for doing something they should be doing anyway and that took no skill (even if you kill 3 people off a flag that extra score came from literally nothing) but because with killstreaks usually they aren’t gonna be inflated. When you’re against just a couple of decent players which we all know is coming these days going on long streaks simply isn’t as practical so I don’t want to have to get 12 fucking kills for a Blackbird when I could get easily be killed off that by another streak, a shotgun, etc when high streaks generally have some easy counter anyway
-Not much RNG type stuff, more so than pretty much any COD to this day. Shotguns aren’t that powerful, quickscoping sucks, no one runs the RC because you gave up spy plane for it, C4 takes time to set up, there’s no target finder, no stock charge etc, low streaks suck. The default lethals and tacticals are really the only thing to worry about so when you have flak and tac it’s the closest thing we have to a built in “competitive” COD. It was made like this on purpose in response to MW2 being the exact opposite
-Good perk/useful perks overall
-Most important thing that makes this game a classic the map design. Best default maps in COD history imo, without this I think the other issues would have the game being considered one of the weaker in the franchise. First Strike DLC maps were all solid as well. The issue with modern COD is either we get garbage clusterfuck maps like in MW19 or ones that are BO2 wannabes too simple and boring. This game was back when they were better at striking balance. We have 4 small maps, 6 medium, 4 large and they all play noticeably different compared to something like Raid-Slums-Standoff-Plaza-Meltdown where the difference is less significant. Nuketown isn’t Firing Range, Firing Range isn’t like Grid, Grid isn’t Villa, Summit isn’t Nuketown, Array isn’t Summit. All the maps have variety without sacrificing too much competitive design
They might not all fit the “competitive” aka reducing the game to gun skill as much as possible faster smaller simpler philosophy a lot of people love but that’s perfectly fine with me. Only other COD that comes close in map design for me is World at War and the problem with that game is some of them had tanks in addition to there being no strong full auto AR so you couldn’t really counter snipers easily. I don’t need every match to be super fast paced

2024.05.15 20:18 suhseal Give Me Glow - Mystical Garden

Give Me Glow - Mystical Garden
Light to medium, neutral to olive skin tone Natural light from a window No primer 1-2 swipes for mattes, 1 swipe for shimmers
Ok…. I had not even thought of Give Me Glow for a bit even through I used to adore them. They kinda fell off the radar with the advent of sooo many great indie brands. They were one of the first insanely pigmented formulations that really got me into colorful eyeshadows. But in the end their mattes ended up being a little stiff… would stick and get patchy and couldn’t layer with many colors. Their shimmers were always the star.
Welp fast forward to today and I just decided to look at their recent offerings and this one caught my eye for the approachable every day color story and the absolutely beautiful packaging design. Their pans are no longer humongous, are the industry standard of a size, and the mattes no longer have the issues I mentioned above. They blend beautifully with great lasting power. I fell asleep and woke up the next morning. And it faded a little bit, but still looked pretty. YES I know… I don’t recommend ever sleeping in your makeup but sometimes I’m old and tired. Shimmers are high shine metallic shimmers with fine particles of shimmer to catch the light. Honestly I prefer this over the diamethicone-y formulas and definitely like them way more than everything being multi or holochrome.
This definitely re-awakened my interest in Give Me Glow again and I’m gonna keep an eye out for their releases.

Note: for some games from humble I might ask for gift links. There is a rumor 3 years ago that humble bans users due to making gift links only. I make gift links every week, never have any issues. I have no idea why humble would ever ban its customers for using a feature it provides to its custimers.

Here is a guide how to make gift links from support.Humblebundle.com: https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/articles/202712460-Purchasing-and-Sending-Gifts

I do not believe humble teaches you how to make gift links, so it can ban you, lol

2024.05.15 20:10 homosidaltendencies Trying to figure out my natural hair color + styling tips?

Trying to figure out my natural hair color + styling tips?
So for context, I've been dying my hair off and on since 2019. I usually get a haircut once a month, but due to financial constraints and having a hard time finding someone I like and trust, I've decided to just let my hair grow out. This is about six-seven months of growth, it's the longest I've ever had my hair.
This blonde has been sitting in my hair for about as long, and as crazy as it sounds, I've kind of forgotten what my natural color is. Second opinions would be appreciated because I'm trying to figure out what color would be best to get the blond in my hair back to my natural color while I grow it out. In natural lighting a single strand has what looks a red hue and I've been told that means I have dark brown hair but idk, all the dark brown hair dyes I've looked at still seem too light comparer to my natural color. I'm so lost.
Also, since I've never had my hair this long before, I genuinely don't know what to do with it as far as styling it. Tips on what to do with it are very welcomed
As far as my hair care routine, I shampoo every two to three days and condition daily and use a leave in conditionelotion regularly.
Thanks in advance for the help!

2024.05.15 20:05 Bright_Broccoli1844 Day 3 of Using a Few Products

I first took a bare-faced selfie while standing in front of my Happy Light. Then I emailed my selfie to Jones Road and requested a color match for Miracle Balm and foundation.
The next day I received color recommendations for Miracle Balm, the WTF, face pencils, neutralizer pencil, tinted powder, bronzer, and blush.
Right now I have the Dusty Rose Miracle Balm, ivory WTF, and face pencil #6.
Every day I have applied it differently.
Today I am just wearing the miracle balm. I applied the face pencil over it. Today I am skipping the WTF.
Less is more. Today I just dabbed dabbed dabbed then used my fingers to blend it in. The more dabbing with with the face pencil and finger-blended that in.
I do have very uneven skin tone. This is my best look yet I think. It feels very light on my face, which I like.
I will save the WTF for when I have social occasions or business occasions.
I did place a second order of more products and awaiting delivery.
I see Jones Road / Bobbie Brown has recently released more instructional videos, which is very needed.
Do not glob it on!
At first I was skeptical when such light to medium colors were recommended, but the JR advisor knew what she was doing! She even recommended the untinted powder (which I am waiting for).
So on first day I put the color swatches on my tan out arm and paler inner arm, and the colors blended right in. Go figure.
Remember a little goes a long way.
And of course I a broke the seal.
Have a happy day.

2024.05.15 19:56 SirWinter8407 Reviewing all of my controllers

in order of how much I liked them

1.Gamesir T4 Kaleid. My favorite controller I've ever had. I've had 3 of them by now and it's the one I most consistently go back to after trying others. I enjoy how it is wired-only so it is simple, and how there is no battery to degrade. No matter what better controllers I try even high end ones, the Kaleid doing what it does for $40 makes it impossible to ignore, it existing is like an elephant in the room to all other controllers I see. "Yeah but the Kaleid does that 4x better and is 1/3 the price." It doesn't have the most premium feeling build quality, but I don't think that's what it's going for, it feels more like an impossible performance prototype.
Onto specifics...the speed of this controller will spoil you. Anything else I try after it, I need to readapt. I don't know anything about polling rates or latencys all I know is, this controller is so fast it feels like it inputs before I do. (There is only one other controller on this list that feels nearly as fast and believe it or not, it's the Dualsense with Bluetooth, but I'll get there.) There's not much else I can say about speed besides it has ruined 80% of other controllers for me. I'll get the worst part of this controller out the way, the dpad is just bad. It's too stiff and it gets stuck. It's not a dealbreaker but for multidirectional inputs like fighting games it registers terribly in my experience. The 3rd controller did come MUCH better than my first 2 so I suppose it depends on the unit, but my first 2 I got had dpads that were pretty much only useful for single-actuations. It's just a stiffness problem basically. The triggers don't have stops on them, but they still have decent tension and I like them well enough. Bumpers work great but nothing really notable about them. Every other button is clicky and amazing, the back buttons and face buttons are very satisfying and have great actuation distance. The face buttons have some side to side action but I've never got a bad or sticky button. The sticks themselves are flawless, they have a mix of solid snappy centering and lack of tension when moving that I've never seen in a controller. So yeah the Kaleid is not perfect, but it's the best I've tried yet.
2.8bitdo Ultimate. This controller has my favorite design of all on this list. It is probably the only that is closer to a Switch Pro Controller formfactor. I don't know if it's my small-medium hand size or just the way I use controllers but it feels like it was made for me. Its connectivity with the dock is very stable wirelessly. The reason I moved on from it is, the parts of the controller feel cheap in comparison to the competition. The triggers, bumpers, and face buttons leave much to be desired. The dpad began to loosen quickly. The sticks felt great though, even when they were the generic Gulikit modules before they switched to Ksilvers. It also feels kinda slow after using others with better polling rate. But I dont want to just dismiss it because of this because as a product I did love it and I think it is excellent. If an Ultimate 2 is ever released with improvements I will instantly be on board.
3.Vader 3 Pro. Probably the all-rounder in terms of features, value, performance, and recommendability. Everything about it is great, my reasons for not preferring it are purely subjective. I just don't think it feels great in my hands and it isn't comfortable, it feels too much like an Xbox controller and I didn't enjoy using it as much. It's the gamepad choice among my college buddies so I certainly respect and appreciate it, it just isn't for me. The Kaleid has a similar formfactor to Xbox too but it doesn't feel that way in the hands, and it has the added novelty of the transparent RBG look that I love.
4.Dualsense Edge. This is a sad case for me. The most accurate elite feeling control on this list. S tier build quality. Saved for 2 weeks to comfortably afford it. It's perfect, but I had bad luck with 2 of mine. The USB functionality of the controller broke after firmware update, on both controllers I tried, and I never found the solution. That along with it being a whopping $200 preventing me from keeping it. My other complaints were the trigger stops didn't cut out very much, it was very heavy, and the centering/stick movement was very twitchy and jittery on mine.
5.8bitdo Pro 2. Bought this when they got a hall effect update. I loved its unique design, seemed perfect for my taste of retro and newer games. Latency was instant dealbreaker, 2nd slowest feeling controller I've used whether wired or wireless.
6.Gulilit KK2 (Zen Pro). The 1st slowest controller I've used. Got this because hall effect was new at the time and I loved the design. The moment I got home and felt its latency I brought it back.
7.Switch Pro Controller. My only experience with stick drift was with this. I bought one that had it out the box, thought it was bad luck, but my replacement was the same. And it was not mild, my character on the main menu screen was spinning around. Even after calibration and updates. Swore on hall effect after that. What I liked about it was its comfort and unique design and large face buttons, and at the time I wasn't very much into "premium" controllers and just wanted something 1st party.

The rest is specific to fight pads. These things really need an overhaul because they are beyond dated but here's my thoughts on them.

0.Hori Fighting Commander PS4. Best gamepad ever made. Has everything listed below but with high latency to boot. I put it at 0 because mine broke and it can no longer be found new, it was discontinued, unless you catch it relisted at rare times or rare places etc.
1.Hori Fighting Commander Octa. This is my choice purely because it has the highest polling rate of them which to for a fighting game is essential IMO. It's only 250hz but that's higher than the others, unless you count the Haute hitbox (which I won't because that's very different from these gamepads). I'm not a fan of the Octa's plasticy design or its protruding handles, but it is the fastest so I use it. The dpad works but is a little harsh on your thumb. The buttons are mechanical but the travel is far too short and they are too sensitive. I complain about it but it works and is reliable, perhaps the most reliable on the market for fighting games. Its stick is its best feature- if you can overcome the travel distance I'd say it is the only analog stick that can be viable for competitive play. Not just the gates but the height and resistance of it, it feels very natural.
2.8bitdo M30. I love the feel and nostalgic design of this pad. It is tiny and feels great in my hands and has great build quality. There is a design flaw for fighting games though, I need to press light kick and light punch to do grabs but those 2 buttons pressed together are obstructed by the divit/cutout of the face buttons. The 2 leftmost face buttons can't be pressed together unless you bend your thumb sideways. I can get used to it but it hurts my hand after a while.
3.Hori Fighting Commander Switch. This is my ideal design and formfactor choice, exact same as the PS4 one just gret. The reason I specify switch is because, it is the only one available now, on other consoles the Octa variant has replaced it. But this is an issue because the Switch version has insanely higher latency than the PS4 one. I didn't notice it until I tested it and looked it up but when I did I realized it could be why my scores went down.
4.Razer Raion. Garbage. Terrible dpad on both the original and the updated one with the axis. It loses tension within 10 minutes of use and seems like it isn't even bothering to register you diagonals. Terrible design with pointless empty space in the bottom left, cramming up your hand. NPPD (new purple pedal day)
Ok not totally new, ive been messing with it for a couple weeks but damn the MXR Duke of Tone has surpassed my expectations. Saw it come up for an unbelievable price locally so i had to snag it and give it a shot. Its exactly the low/medium gain sound i wanted to hear, clear and breaks up in the right frequencies, maybe it just works with my gear and my playing. I have the MXR Timmy and i have never liked it despite wanting to fall in love with it because lore. After 30 seconds i knew this is the one.
What is your opinion on this pedal? How does it stack up against other gain pedals? Should i go for a KOT or POT?

2024.05.15 19:12 Book_Golem Help, there are too many 3rd Rank spells to choose from!

Hello, lovely people! Our party has just hit Level 5, which means that I need to pick out some new spells for my Wizard. My School is Universalist, and my Thesis is Staff Nexus (with GM permitted options to swap out the staff spells I picked at first level using Downtime). I've taken the Loremaster archetype with Free Archetype.
Our party consists of a Bard, Champion, Cleric, Magus, and Summoner. Lots of healing and moderate damage output leading to longer fights.
We're playing through the Abomination Vaults, so keep that in mind. I'd prefer to avoid spoilers, please, but if I'm considering something that's going to be less effective it would be nice to know. We've just completed (or are in the process of completing, we haven't opened the way down yet) the fourth level (Belcorra's Retreat), so I'm aware that there are a lot of Undead and other horrible monsters!
I'd appreciate any advice on spell selection, but particularly for the two new spells I get to pick up at 5th Level, which can now be 3rd Rank.
My current "standard" loadout is as follows:
Cantrips:
Innate Cantrips:
1st Rank:
2nd Rank:
Wands
Staff (Staff Nexus Staff of Earth - I just wanted a cheap staff to get charges for Nexus spells)
Thus, on to picking Rank 3 spells for 5th Level.
An observation I made in our last major fight was that I need to improve my "boss fight suite". Currently that's pretty much Revealing Light, Laughing Fit, and Enfeeble (plus Briny Bolt if I keep that prepared). That is at least one spell targeting each save (and AC), but the effects are fairly light and none of them contribute damage to the mix.
I'd like to be able to contribute damage, but I feel that as a Wizard inflicting status ailments/buffs is more important (it's not like anyone else in the party is doing much of that). Doing both would be ideal! With that in mind, here's my shortlist of spells and my thoughts on them. I'd appreciate any insight into which of these might be particularly good (or bad) given our adventure and party makeup (and doubtless I've missed a few gems along the way too)!
Potential 3rd Rank picks:
Additionally, I'm tempted to pick up (via scrolls) the following with an eye to Heightening them to 3rd Rank. Honestly, I'll probably grab as many as possible, but it'd be cool to know if there are particular standouts among these options - I haven't really considered Heightened spells before.
Spells to Heighten to 3rd Rank:
And that's about it. My current thought process is that I'll take Cave Fangs and one of Agonizing Despair, Haste, and Slow. I do enjoy the idea of stacking detrimental conditions onto a target until it stops being able to do much of anything, but I'm not sure that's actually a viable playstyle given how effectively things make saves in Pathfinder.
Anyway. Thanks for reading this far, and my apologies for the wall of text - hopefully it was at least legible! Any thoughts you may have on spell selection (even if it's just "why would you take X when Y is just better?") would be very much appreciated!

2024.05.15 19:10 TheGist-AP How the omnipresent narrative of racial disparities in mortality outcomes, while often true, are often misapplied by NPR and others to misleading and alienating effect.

Mike Pesa is out with a new sub stack post that criticizes NPR, and other media outlets on their reporting of Mortality Figures. Curious to see everyone's opinion.

2024.05.15 19:09 slayerchick How do i learn to shade from color

How do i learn to shade from color
I've been drawing with graphite and I've just begun learning to shade. So far I've only really done studies guided by YouTube tutorials for how to shade different facial features. Those come out looking pretty decent. My issue comes from trying to draw from life or copy pictures. I find it incredibly difficult to translate the subtle shifts of color from skin tone and light play into grayscale to get good shading effects... This is made even more difficult when the images i'm copying have quite fair skin tones or lighting that drastically reduces shadows. The harsher shadows are easy, but I can't seem to understand how to do the subtle shifts when it comes to pencil, everything just ends up looking like it's shaded too dark or you can't see the tone shifts I'm trying to make because the references are just too subtle so it seems like I only have 3 tones at best, light medium and dark. I know with the picture references I can just set the image to grayscale and turn up the contrast, but I don't want to rely on that since I can't make everything black and white.
