2024.05.07 13:30 Little_AntEater Should I call myself a priestess?

Im having a huge struggle rn yet I have nowhere to vent, I think this is the only place that I can find people who understand me better so I hope someone can talk to me or help me through it. . . . Here’s the story:
Before I started with witchcraft and when I was still in church, I always relate to the experience of prophets in Bible. I convey God messages, predict the future, interpret dream etc.
When I started witchcraft, I was like finally I can truly tap into my power, examine them without the Christian barrier, yet I struggled to identify as a witch. I feel like I’m more like a priestess instead of a witch, but I don’t dare to call myself like that, just like I won’t dare to claim myself as a prophet.
Now I finally got over these feelings and embraced the identity of a witch.
I enjoy calling myself a Christian witch so that people who believe in God and Jesus will seek for my guidance and I don’t need to feel shame to use magic to help.
I was too afraid to talk to God and Jesus directly about the witchcraft stuff but yesterday I finally had that conversation.
In my meditation, Jesus said “You are never a witch. Don’t you remember? You were a priestess.” Then I recalled those memories, I wore linen clothes, I was in the temple to serve God and so on, it’s like watching a movie in a first person perspective.
It awakened sth in me. I miss working in the temple tho technically I had never did that and it lead me to rethink my identity. I wanna claim myself as a priestess but I’m too scared. It’s a huge responsibility and I don’t know if I worth it.
“God, I am scared to call myself a priestess, I don’t think I’m enough.” “That’s what every prophet says when they receive a calling.”
Then the conversation ended, and now I’m back to reality, struggling what the fuck am I really?
Am I delusional? Are those meditation and conversation with God even real? I really don’t know.
I don’t expect anyone will read all that but if you do, I appreciate it with my whole heart. Thank you for reading this.

2024.05.07 13:24 Jaredtn10 How to break the addiction of porn and masturbation!

Hello everybody! I am 20(M) and I used to be addicted to pornography and masturbation. I am now set free, not by my own strength, but by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! There are so many people struggling with this, so I felt like God wanted me to share this.
The blood of christ ✝️
We serve a loving and forgiving God. Jesus took upon all of our sins and has broken the power of sin over our lives. The blood of Jesus makes us pure and holy. However we are still able to sin because we have free will. We can come to God repentance, but we must do so with intent to turn away from sin. When we sin, we briefly turn away from God. In that moment we are made vulnerable to Satans lies. When we sin God does not distance himself from us, but rather we distance ourselves from God. Sin also leads to death and destruction.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 NKJV
This does not directly mean the death of the physical body, but it also means the death and decay of your spirit. Sin is the reason why many people become apathetic and unloving. It may also be the reason why many people reject God. But God is loving and he has given access to the throne of grace where we can draw strength from. Jesus has also given us access to the Father, and we can receive the Fathers love. Jesus also went up to heaven and sent us The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit ✝️
The Holy Spirit is our Helper and our Counseler. When we accept Jesus, we also accept the Holy Spirit. Think of how when Jesus was baptised. He was baptised by water and then it was like a dove came from heaven and rested upon him.He was baptised by the Spirit. In the book of Acts the disciples were baptised and filled with the Holy Spirit. We cannot resist sin without the help of the Holy Spirit. We must ask the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide as we read the word of God, and as we make decisions throughout the day. Spend time with The Holy Spirit, take time out of your busy schedule and just rest in His presence. Ask the Lord to renew your mind. Do not let the Holy Spirit have sorrow over the way you live!
The fruits of the spirit are made available to us which is : love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We are given access to these things so ask God for them when you are tempted to sin and receive it by faith. Do not just ask God once and then say "Why did you not give me it Lord ". Keep on asking , this is what God has promised to give us and God will NEVER go back on his promises.
Resisting Satan and temptation ✝️
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7 NKJV
To resist Satan, we must FIRST submit to God. This means we must put God first and consider him in all things. We have accepted Jesus as our Lord, therefore we must live like he is our Lord and put him first. For example, the first thing you could do in the morning is to give thanks and talk to Him. Submitting to him means to obey his word.
But how can we obey his word if we do not know his word? When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan, The devil tried to use the scriptures against Jesus. The devil knows the scriptures and will use them without context to ensare you.The devil will distort the scriptures to his own perversions so that a stronghold(a lie you constantly tell yourself) is placed in your mind. Jesus countered Satan by displaying an even greater knowledge of scripture and the nature of God.This is why reading the word is so important. We can get answers from God, we can get revelations, and we can get warnings when we are lead by the Holy Spirit, through the word of God.
We cannot resist tempations with our own willpower. The word is spirit and it is life.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
We do not fight against physical powers, therefore how can we use our own flesh and blood to fight. Rather use the word of God which is spirit and life.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. Matthew 18:9 NKJV
We must remember that Jesus often talked in parables and not everything in the bible is to be taken literally. This scripture simply means to cut off the source of the sin. This could could be social media, bad friends or other examples.Cutting of these things may hamper your ability to enjoy worldly pleasures. But we do not serve God for worldly pleasures.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; Malachi 3:10-11 NKJV
We must remember to tithe as well. God will rebuke Satan from stealing our blessings that he has in store for us. If you do not tithe then you are basically stealing from your own blessings.
Declare the word of God and your identity ✝️
Jesus said that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can command the mountain to be moved, and it will be moved. This does not mean a literal mountain but the mountain is a representations of our temptations and problems. Speak to your problems and temptations using the word of God, and by faith they will dealt with.
We are made new creations and we have an identity in Christ. We are more than conquerors in Christ. We are children of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God. The devil is a defeated foe, because Jesus has defeated death itself. Therefore we will always have victory with Jesus Christ. We are made friends of God because Jesus has reconciled us with God. When temptations come, declare your identity in Christ. If you keep silent, then the devil will take it as an invitation.
Fear the Lord ✝️
Fearing the Lord does not mean to be in constant fear of him. It means to revere him and to love him. We will give an account for our actions, so be concious of God, but know that he loves you.
And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil (sin) is understanding.’ ” Job 28:28 NKJV
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 NKJV
By revering God and truly loving him we show our wisdom. We also use this wisdom to depart from sin (such as cutting of the source of sin). By departing from sin, we understand our identity in Christ better. We also use our identity in Christ to depart from sin.To turn away fron sin is to deny yourself and follow Jesus. To follow Jesus is to obey him. To obey Jesus is to read the word of God. For in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
By mercy and lovingkindness and truth, wickedness is cleaned from the heart, and by the fear of the Lord one avoids evil. Proverbs 16:6 New Life Version
God is made up of 3 Persons. Mercy is what Jesus did on the cross to save humanity. The Father showed his love and kindness by sending his Son to take on humanitys sin.We can receive the Fathers love because we have access to Him through Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. Only God can cleanse our wickedness, and when we revere him and put him first, he will help us avoid evil.
Conclusion ✝️
When you encounter temptations, ask God for the fruit of patience and self-control. Keep on asking. Speak out loud that you submit to God and show it by having a close relationship with him. Make sure you tithe, so that the devil does not steal what you have planted spiritually. Rest in Gods presence everyday.Ask The Holy Spirit to lead you everyday. Read the word of God so that you can understand Gods nature better. Declare the word of God and your identity in Christ to Satan and every power of darkness that is working against you. Use your wisdom to discern and to cut off the source of sin. Rebuke every unclean spirit in the name of Jesus, for the name of Jesus is mighty. Remember what Jesus did on the cross and that his blood makes you pure and holy.
Be blessed and stay blessed! May God show you his awesome and omnipotent power. Remember that we cannot do this with our own strength, but we can do it with Gods grace.
With much love!

2024.05.07 13:13 dwredbaker Take, eat; this is my body

Matthew 26:26-35~"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples."
These verses describe the appointment of the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. Our Lord knew well the things that were before Him, and graciously chose the last quiet evening that he could have before his crucifixion, as an occasion for bestowing a parting gift on his church. How precious must this ordinance have afterwards appeared to His disciples, when they remembered the events of that night. How mournful is the thought, that no ordinance has led to such fierce controversy, and been so grievously misunderstood, as the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. It ought to have united the church, but our sins have made it a cause of division. The thing which should have been for our welfare, has been too often made an occasion of falling.
The first thing that demands our notice in these verses, is the right meaning of our Lord's words, "this is my body, this is my blood."
It is needless to say, that this question has divided the visible church of Christ. It has caused volumes of controversial theology to be written. But we must not shrink from having decided opinions upon it, because theologians have disputed and differed. Unsoundness on this point has given rise to many deplorable superstitions.
The plain meaning of our Lord's words appears to be this — "This bread represents my body. This wine represents my blood." He did not mean that the bread He gave to His disciples was really and literally His body. He did not mean that the wine He gave to His disciples was really and literally His blood. Let us lay firm hold on this interpretation. It may be supported by several grave reasons.
The conduct of the disciples at the Lord's Supper forbids us to believe that the bread they received was Christ's body, and the wine they received was Christ's blood. They were all Jews, taught from their infancy to believe that it was sinful to eat flesh with the blood. (Deut. 12:23-25.) Yet there is nothing in the narrative to show that they were startled by our Lord's words. They evidently perceived no change in the bread and wine.
Our own senses at the present day forbid us to believe that there is any change in the bread and wine in the Lord's Supper. Our own taste tells us that they are really and literally what they appear to be. Things above our reason the Bible requires us to believe. But we are never bid to believe that which contradicts our senses.
The true doctrine about our Lord's human nature forbids us to believe that the bread in the Lord's Supper can be His body, or the wine His blood. The natural body of Christ cannot be at one time in more places than one. If our Lord's body could sit at table, and at the same time be eaten by the disciples, it is perfectly clear that it was not a human body like our own. But this we must never allow for one moment. It is the glory of Christianity that our Redeemer is perfect man as well as perfect God.
Finally, the genius of the language in which our Lord spoke at the Lord's Supper, makes it entirely unnecessary to interpret His words literally. The Bible is full of expressions of a similar kind, to which no one thinks of giving any but a figurative meaning. Our Lord speaks of Himself as the "door" and the "vine," and we know that he is using emblems and figures, when He so speaks. There is therefore no inconsistency in supposing that He used figurative language when He appointed the Lord's Supper; and we have the more right to say so, when we remember the grave objections which stand in the way of a literal view of His words.
Let us lay up these things in our minds, and not forget them. In a day of abounding heresy, it is good to be well armed. Ignorant and confused views of the meaning of Scripture language, are one great cause of religious error.
The second thing which demands our notice in these verses, is the purpose and object for which the Lord's Supper was appointed.
This is a subject again on which great darkness prevails. The ordinance of the Lord's Supper has been regarded as something mysterious and past understanding. Immense harm has been done to Christianity by the vague and high-flown language in which many writers have indulged in treating of the sacrament. There is certainly nothing to warrant such language in the account of its original institution. The more simple our views of its purpose, the more Scriptural they are likely to be.
The Lord's Supper is not a sacrifice. There is no oblation in it — no offering up of anything but our prayers, praises, and thanksgivings. From the day that Jesus died there needed no more offering for sin. By one offering He perfected forever those who are sanctified. (Heb. 10:14.) Priests, altars, and sacrifices, all ceased to be necessary, when the Lamb of God offered up Himself. Their office came to an end. Their work was done.
The Lord's Supper has no power to automatically confer benefit on those who come to it, if they do not come to it with faith. The mere formal act of eating the bread and drinking the wine is utterly unprofitable, unless it is done with a right heart. It is eminently an ordinance for the living soul, not for the dead — for the converted, not for the unconverted.
The Lord's Supper was ordained for a continual remembrance of the sacrifice of Christ's death, until He comes again. The benefits it confers, are spiritual, not physical. Its effects must be looked for in our inward man. It was intended to remind us, by the visible, tangible emblems of bread and wine, that the offering of Christ's body and blood for us on the cross, is the only atonement for sin, and the life of a believer's soul. It was meant to help our poor weak faith to closer fellowship with our crucified Savior, and to assist us in spiritually feeding on Christ's body and blood. It is an ordinance for redeemed sinners, and not for unfallen angels. By receiving it we publicly declare our sense of guilt, and need of a Savior — our trust in Jesus, and our love to Him — our desire to live upon Him, and our hope to live with Him. Using it in this spirit, we shall find our repentance deepened, our faith increased, our hope brightened, and our love enlarged — our besetting sins weakened, and our graces strengthened. It will draw us nearer to Christ.
Let us bear these things in mind. They need to be remembered in these latter days. There is nothing in our religion which we are so ready to pervert and misunderstand as those parts which approach our senses. Whatever we can touch with our hand, and see with our eyes, we are apt to exalt into an idol, or to expect good from it as a mere charm. Let us especially beware of this tendency in the matter of the Lord's Supper. Above all, "let us take heed," in the words of the Homily, "lest of the memory it be made a sacrifice."
The last thing which deserves a brief notice in this passage, is the character of the first communicants. It is a point full of comfort and instruction.
The little company to which the bread and wine were first administered by our Lord, was composed of the apostles, whom He had chosen to accompany Him during His earthly ministry. They were poor and unlearned men, who loved Christ, but were weak alike in faith and knowledge. They knew but little of the full meaning of their Master's sayings and doings. They knew but little of the frailty of their own hearts. They thought they were ready to die with Jesus, and yet that very night they all forsook Him and fled. All this our Lord knew perfectly well. The state of their hearts was not hidden from Him. And yet He did not keep back from them the Lord's Supper.
There is something very instructive in this circumstance — It shows us plainly that we must not make great knowledge, and great strength of grace, an indispensable qualification for communicants. A man may know but little, and be no better than a child in spiritual strength, but he is not on that account to be excluded from the Lord's table. Does he really feel his sins? Does he really love Christ? Does he really desire to serve Him? If this be so, we ought to encourage and receive him. Doubtless we must do all we can to exclude unworthy communicants. No graceless person ought to come to the Lord's Supper. But we must take heed that we do not reject those whom Christ has not rejected. There is no wisdom in being more strict than our Lord and His apostles.
Let us leave the passage with serious self-inquiry as to our own conduct with respect to the Lord's Supper. Do we turn away from it, when it is administered? If so, how can we justify our conduct? It will not do to say it is not a necessary ordinance. To say so is to pour contempt on Christ Himself, and declare that we do not obey Him. It will not do to say that we feel unworthy to come to the Lord's table. To say so is to declare that we are unfit to die, and unprepared to meet God. These are solemn considerations. All non-communicants should ponder them well.
Are we in the habit of coming to the Lord's table? If so, in what frame of mind do we come? Do we draw near intelligently, humbly, and with faith? Do we understand what we are doing? Do we really feel our sinfulness and need of Christ? Do we really desire to live a Christian life, as well as profess the Christian faith? Happy is that soul who can give a satisfactory answer to these questions. Let him go forward, and persevere.

2024.05.07 13:07 Rafael_192005 Nothing is at it Seems (Thoughts about this?)

Nothing is as it seems within Christians:
I genuinely dislike such double faced Christians, myself included. They bring nothing but division and hypocrisy to the Christian church and giving it a bad rep. And I don't know how I should feel about this. Almost everything I thought were true about Christians were perhaps falsehoods and lies.
I know I say this as a HUGE hypocrite (I struggle with Porn and Lust) yet I AM trying to change and repent to God. These people do nothing but say one thing and do the other, and that makes me feel very cynical and jaded. You cant really trust the very Christians you look up to these days.
Additionally, if people are going to compromise what the bible says about adultery, honesty, integrity, compassion, sexual purity and even the more general principles of the bible, then what's the point? What's the point of sticking to something that we are only going to reject and compromise? What is the point? We might as well compromise the whole bible and dilute all the Christian beliefs, compromising and compromising again and again until there's nothing left to compromise.
If the bible places an emphasis on sexual purity and sexual morality, and Christians (myself included) go and do the exact opposite, what's the point?
If the bible places an emphasis on humility and generosity, and the prosperity preachers out there twists Gods word for financial gain and wealth, then what's the point?
If the Bible promotes honesty and integrity, but some Christians engage in deceitful practices in business and personal relationships, then what's the point?
If the Bible advocates for peace and non-violence, yet some Christians support or participate in acts of violence and war, then what's the point?
and so and so forth...
I KNOW Jesus said for us not to judge each other or we would be judged, But then if we do not judge, do we then condone and accept that behaviour? Do we leave it as it is and let the hypocrisy intensify out of fear of Gods judgment? Do we even try to correct that behaviour? Do we just stand by and do nothing?

2024.05.07 12:55 Cindy_Wright WHO is God?

(English is not my first language) I know that God is Jesus. Like I’m Christian but I’m struggling with to find how God really is. Like I hear that God is all loving. The Bible says that I just have to believe that Jesus has resurrected from the dead and believe that he is the lord to get to heaven. There is also the other side that will condemn us if we don’t do xvz. Like that he will count us accountable for the people we didn’t save and many more things. I don’t even know if I truly believe or that I’m just a believer because I’m scared of hell. When I look at the Bible like Abraham and Moses they had so much faith!! Look at me… who even am I? I can’t compare myself to them. What chance do I have to enter heaven? I just want to know how God really is? Is he loving how people say or just a God that waiting for the opportunity to throw me into hell? I haven’t found God to myself…

2024.05.07 12:39 Rafael_192005 Nothing is as it seems (Thoughts?)

2024.05.07 12:28 BGodInspired How Does Embodying Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, and Patience Transform Our Lives?

https://bgodinspired.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/1715077012.png

Embrace Compassion: How Colossians 3:12 Inspires KindnessIntroduction: A Fresh Look at Kindness

Welcome to a journey through the Bible that promises not just to inform but also to transform. Today, we’re diving deep into Colossians 3:12, a verse that serves as a gentle nudge towards embracing compassion, kindness, and humility in our daily lives. In a world that often prioritizes self over others, let’s explore how this powerful piece of scripture can inspire us to cultivate a heart of compassion.

The Heart of Colossians 3:12

At its core, Colossians 3:12 beckons us to “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” It’s a metaphorical call to action, urging us to put on these virtues as if they were garments. This imagery is vivid and potent, suggesting that just as we choose our clothes each day, we can choose to embody these qualities in our interactions with others.

Why Compassion and Kindness Matter

How to Clothe Yourself with Compassion

Integrating Colossians 3:12 into our lives might seem daunting, but it’s all about small, intentional choices. Start each day with a simple prayer or intention to show kindness. Look for opportunities to give compliments, offer a helping hand, or simply listen to someone who needs to be heard. Remember, it’s not about grand gestures; even the smallest act of kindness can have a ripple effect of positivity.

Conclusion: The Call to Action

Embracing the virtues of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience as outlined in Colossians 3:12 isn’t just beneficial for others; it transforms us from the inside out. It challenges us to look beyond ourselves and to see the world through a lens of empathy and love. So today, let’s make a conscious decision to clothe ourselves with these virtues. Let’s be the change we wish to see, one act of kindness at a time.

2024.05.07 12:20 Theonechurch Being Christian and also Schizophrenic has been hard.

Ive had spiritual experience where I was floating in space and was baptized with The Holy Spirit. After the light touched my body in space, I woke up and felt like I was high, like I just took something. Then it touched me again in the vision of dark space and light touching me, and I woke up again and felt high and my eyes rolled back and falled asleep. Anytime I try to tell people what happened, like my mom, or doctor, they say I was hallucinating. In my entire life though, I am over 30, and I never experienced something like this, I know it wasn't just a dream, because of the experience, and also it would be too coincidental that I prayed to Jesus Christ that same night before sleeping that I submit to Him and I don't care about what denomination I join anymore, that I will always have faith in Him no matter what, and then I prayed a gregorian chant singing Hallelujah for 15-20 minutes. That is the main thing I have been struggling in my religion. I was baptized Catholic but then I started reading bible and listening to protestants and other denominations and I was convicted that I wasn't in the right church because they said we worship idols and shouldn't have them in church or pray to mary or saints or angels. Being schizophrenic I don't have the clearest thoughts or am able to think hard because Im in pain mentally. On top of being paranoid, I get extra paranoia that I am not following God the right way and I am scared to go to hell still even though I believe in Jesus Christ, I always think, what if Im wrong about something, any advice to help me please?

2024.05.07 11:31 Tight-Persimmon-5516 Sometimes I have doubts

I'm a Coptic Orthodox currently living in Egypt, and I have been satisfied for my beliefs for a while
But then I made some athiest friends and I have always thought that other religions had barbaric punishments and were in general not very humane
And I mostly got my information on Christianity from basic preachings in the church and nothing much other than that
I never really read that much or got too invested into it but I liked believing in it
Anyway my friends keep pointing out faults with other religions and when I say that I don't think those exist, they just bring bible verses and online forums that have barbaric punishments
Like if a man rapes a woman he could marry her after he pays her father or the fact that some stories sound unrealistic
Or that the new testament was written after Jesus died
I like the fact that Coptic Orthodox Christianity says love everyone and everything no matter what they did to you or what they do
I like that it's never had any dark history like other churches where they were some sort of government or power or a hoax just to gather money from the masses
So a lot of the malicious points don't count
But the stories themselves have trouble explaining themselves
And how do we explain some barbaric punishments that should happen and are mentioned in the bible? Is it just omitted? Is it useless? What was that
And why does the holy Saturday always seem to never make the church catch on fire but also the people in the videos don't really hold it for long enough to prove that it doesn't really burn
I'm so confused these days about religion so I want some explanations on these parts please. And thank you

2024.05.07 11:12 BestWheel7068 We call it "The Church", but it isn't a Church. And that's not *just* because it's a Cult.

We call it "The Church", but here is why Mormonism isn't a Church, or Christian, and it's not just because it's a cult (even tho it is cult-lite).
When you grow up in the Church/Cult/MFMC, like most people do (at least in the US), you're told it's a church, and thus, your entire world view around "What a church is", is shaped, by the church, through rose tinted glasses.
For brevity let's say a "Church" in this scenario is defined as looking/walking/acting at least roughly like a mainstream Christian denomination. But we should also factor non-christian religions in as well.
There have been a lot of new religious movements, however at no point has mainstream Mormonism ever been an actual Church.
Now I am no historian but my understanding from a scholarly point of view is that it started off as a new religious movement and quickly transitioned into a sex cult, and we like to say that overtime it slowly became a more mainstream, albeit culty Church.

I hope I haven't lost you yet because here is the point I'd like to make, even if many of us are already aware:

Mormonism looks like this
And it looks like this, everywhere, almost without fail. Even in people's houses. Even in many nuanced TBM's houses. It's extremely common for people to have more pictures of this organization's leaders, then it is for them to have pictures of Jesus.
I'm no expert on other religions, but to my knowledge, most Christian Churches do not put dozens of pictures of their leaders everywhere, hang their words up (eg family proclamation) on golden picture frames, have pictures of all of their giant buildings, etc.
And guess what we talk about in general conference? Jesus? Nah, not that much, for the most part, at least until recently. Covenants. Scriptures. Blessings. Tithing. Attending Church. The Covenant Path.
The reason many "muggles" (non members) will look in on the so called "Church", especially a general conf session or temple vid, is because it doesn't even loosely fit the stereotype of a christian Church.
All the "Church" talks about 90% of the time is its own lore, leaders, and meta.
And nevermind the gospel, let's not forget what the buildings look like!
We don't even have a cross, or Jesus statute on the buildings. It's a golden statue of a fictional character from a spinoff of the bible.
Plus, the buildings don't even resemble what many traditional christian churches look like, or even the non-traditional ones!
Don't forget that the clothing also is once again... nothing like a Church. It's one thing to wear a suit to church, that's a not to uncommon I guess. But for the clergy to wear suits? Even the PROPHET? We were told it was a professionalism thing because wearing robes or traditional monk outfits like nearly every other Christian (or Muslim/Hindu/whatever) clergyman does is "beneath us", yet apparently reporting child sex abuse isn't, so I guess fuck us am I right?

TL;DR: The reason the "Church" is not a Church, isn't only because it's a cult-lite, it's because it looks NOTHING like modern OR traditional Christianity.

To name just a few:
But my point with this isn't to say it isn't a cult, just that it's a cult, but with extra steps lol, and that being a cult, and "not a church" aren't mutually inclusive.
I think it's more of a mainstream, highly bureaucratized cult, preaching it's wacky religion, masquerading as a Church.

2024.05.07 10:59 CallistosTitan Why is it so important for the CIA to peddle the flat Earth model?

18% of American adults from 18-24 believe the Earth is flat. Especially since 330 BC Aristotle had empirical evidence towards the spherical model.
At first glance a conservative understanding would be because of their usual divisional games. But it also could be to defy God, ironically we have see this in the past when the Catholic church used the flat Earth model. Mind you the Catholic church was propped up the Romans. The same people that supposedly killed Jesus. Who is more idolized than God himself.
What is happening with this ancient and modern psyop? Is the actual Earth a different model than the ones on our radar.
Expansion Earth hypothesis sheds light on a different model, but was proposed in 1834 by Charles Darwin. It has base.
If you shrink the entire planet so there's no oceanic crust, all the plates fit together perfectly. It explains how we have sequoiadendron trees in China and America. Because these countries were once connected on this model. Also why we see alligators in only these regions. Why we see fish fossils on land. Why the dinosaurs went extinct. It explains why the oldest oceanic crust is only 200 million years old. This model can also be observable on other planets and moons.
Why is it so important to deny this understanding of the world?
Well an expansion event could be cataclysmic. The Earth is gradually expanding but nothing too significant, it would seem an event would be the most plausible theory on the expansion instance. We have heard of these cataclysmic cycles in ancient history all over the world in almost every culture.
To experience a cycle you have to survive various amounts of these events to understand. The CIA has an archive of Adam and Eve. Which explains in great detail what happens to the world in this event.
This could be the first time in history where we enter this event without understanding what is happening. And the first time in history that the humans surviving this event, are going to be indecisive on where we are and where we came from. Every other culture in history educated their youth about this event as their way of life. There's not going to be a warning about this day, it will just happen.
Another dynamic about the Expansion Earth Model is that it dawns light on a new understanding of our universe. If Suns give birth to Planets, which give birth to moons, well then we are just talking about Greek Mythology. But it's also Astropsychology. The planet is sentient and an egg. We are the cells on the egg supposedly there to help grow the egg. I like to think humanity has been guided to do the opposite. They are wanting to kill it like an abortion.
Hence the Nuclear Weapons, the oil spills, microplastics, the raping and pillaging of all the resources, the constant murder and chaos all around.
Whatever Mother Earth is carrying, it's in our best interest to fight for her. And calling her flat is an insult to every living being on this planet. I believe one day we will individually become a planet and then a star. But it's a path that requires an understanding we don't possess. What we do know is the key to the universe comes from Love.

2024.05.07 10:52 RingDouble863 How historical patterns reflect the attitudes, morals and beliefs of the society/culture.

How historical patterns reflect the attitudes, morals and beliefs of the society/culture.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
TLDR: Ancient society was basically a Subreddit / echo chamber where the majority of participants share similar views. Posts and comments that align with the prevailing opinions are upvoted, while dissenting views are downvoted or even moderated out, reinforcing a collective agreement that may resist external or contradictory perspectives.
This behaviour breeds complex trauma/mental health problems which is becoming clear by the day. Scroll down for more insight into society and solutions.
Societal structures like family and community have shaped attitudes, beliefs, and mental health across centuries. From the time of the romans till today, religious and political institutions have manipulated belief systems to maintain control.
https://preview.redd.it/gzcoi3dlsyyc1.jpg?width=327&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54f728d65474f90066d40ad567bfbc1a34277c91
Let us start here,
Hypatia of Alexandria (c. 360–415 AD) - A renowned teache philosopher in Egypt, murdered by a Christian mob due to her influential role in a city fraught with religious and political tensions.
https://preview.redd.it/yhdpaorrsyyc1.png?width=327&format=png&auto=webp&s=8589d0cb2707cd4ac6d945181977cf4258e5870b
Her prominence as a non-Christian thinker made her a target for religious zealots who viewed her philosophical teachings as heretical or as obstacles to the Christianization of Alexandria. Her knowledge/influence was derived from The Druids/pagans who were the religious elite among the Celtic peoples in ancient Britain, Ireland, and Gaul (modern France).
Druids reportedly played a central role in enforcing societal norms and laws, which were often intertwined with religious observance. They were said to have the power to excommunicate members from religious activities, which in tightly knit tribal societies could equate to a form of social death. Excommunication might have extended to barring individuals from communal gatherings, which would have significant social and psychological repercussions in a society where group identity was strong.

In much the same way, the Romans also persecuted people like St. Sebastian (died c. 288 AD) Saint Boniface (675-754 AD) - Known as the "Apostle of the Germans," he faced opposition while attempting to reform the Frankish church and convert the Germanic tribes to Christianity. Boniface’s efforts to destroy pagan sites led to resistance from the local population, and he was eventually martyred by a pagan group in Frisia (modern-day Netherlands).
https://preview.redd.it/59vhrim1tyyc1.jpg?width=220&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2406842f0349971af77250e3ba961a5ab777189a
Arnold of Brescia (c. 1090–1155) - A monk who turned into a religious reformer and critic of the church’s temporal powers, Arnold led a movement against the corrupt practices of the clergy. He was eventually captured and executed by the Roman authorities under pressure from the Church.
William Tyndale (c. 1494–1536) - Executed for heresy after translating the Bible into English, which was seen as a threat to the Church’s authority and doctrinal control. Giordano Bruno (1548–1600)
https://preview.redd.it/cjch9dz3tyyc1.jpg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac22b0713047075b71a74fd5d4cba0f6708053bb
In 1633, Galileo Galilei was tried by the Roman Inquisition, and found "vehemently suspect of heresy." He was forced to recant his views and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.
Im sure that by now, you are begining to see a pattern and how human behaviour is influenced by the environment.
What did these State and Religious institutions want to control? What did they find so important as to justify the deaths of millions? The answer, is perception management and the human mind.
In our modern day, we may have advanced technologically beyond anything the roman's or celt's could dream about. However, our knowledge of human nature or the self has not grown correspondingly. Consequently our political and social climate today, bears striking resemblence to the romans of 2000+ years ago.
https://preview.redd.it/zap9tfoltyyc1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2d1feb416be8a98cf970705e4d859f64970083d
As a result of this "meta", the mental health problems faced by the population is becoming clearer by the day. By understanding our history, we are better equipped to formulate a good response when faced by similar triggers.
  1. Reduced Exposure to Diverse Perspectives:
  • Ancient Athens, Greece (5th century BCE): In Ancient Athens, the development of democracy encouraged citizens to gather in public spaces like the Agora to discuss politics and philosophy. However, certain groups, like the aristocracy or the followers of particular philosophers, often congregated in exclusive circles where dissenting opinions were not welcomed. For instance, followers of Socrates might have isolated themselves from other philosophical schools, limiting their exposure to diverse perspectives and potentially hindering their ability to adapt to new ideas.
  • Narcissism: Within the family, if individuals are raised in an echo chamber where their perspectives are continuously reinforced without exposure to differing viewpoints, they may develop a sense of entitlement and superiority. This lack of exposure can reinforce narcissistic tendencies, as they may come to believe that their opinions and experiences are the only valid ones.
  • Complex Trauma: Limited exposure to diverse perspectives within the family can hinder emotional development and problem-solving skills. Children raised in such environments may struggle to adapt to differing viewpoints, leading to difficulties in forming healthy relationships outside the family unit. This lack of adaptability can contribute to complex trauma, as individuals may find it challenging to navigate social situations and cope with stressors.
  • Solution: Scripture encourages believers to seek wisdom and understanding from various sources. Proverbs 11:14 states, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking counsel from diverse perspectives to make informed decisions and avoid pitfalls. Additionally, Proverbs 27:17 highlights the value of iron sharpening iron, suggesting that engaging with differing viewpoints can lead to personal growth and refinement.
  1. Isolation and Alienation:
  • Salem Witch Trials (1692, Massachusetts): During the Salem Witch Trials, those accused of witchcraft often faced ostracism and social rejection, particularly if they did not conform to the prevailing religious and societal norms. Accusations and subsequent isolation from the community could lead to profound feelings of alienation, depression, and anxiety, especially for individuals who maintained innocence but were still shunned by their peers.
  • Narcissism: If individuals within the family dissent from the majority viewpoint and are subsequently isolated or alienated, they may develop narcissistic coping mechanisms to protect their self-esteem. This could manifest as an exaggerated sense of self-importance and a need for admiration as a way to compensate for feelings of rejection.
  • Complex Trauma: Being isolated or alienated within the family unit can lead to profound feelings of loneliness and disconnection. Children who experience consistent hostility or rejection from family members may internalize these experiences, leading to complex trauma. These individuals may struggle with trust issues and have difficulty forming meaningful relationships in the future.
  • Solution: Scripture offers comfort and assurance to those who feel isolated or rejected. Psalm 27:10 declares, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me." This verse reminds individuals that even if they experience rejection from their family or community, they are still deeply loved and accepted by God. Furthermore, Romans 12:15 encourages believers to "rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep," emphasizing the importance of empathy and solidarity in overcoming feelings of alienation.
  1. Confirmation Bias and Polarization:
  • The Reformation in Europe (16th century): The Reformation period in Europe saw the emergence of distinct religious factions, each subscribing to different interpretations of Christianity. Followers of Martin Luther or John Calvin, for example, might have surrounded themselves with like-minded individuals, reinforcing their beliefs while dismissing opposing viewpoints. This polarization deepened societal divisions, fueled conflicts like the Thirty Years' War, and likely contributed to heightened stress and anxiety among adherents.
  • Narcissism: Within the family, confirmation bias and polarization can reinforce narcissistic tendencies by validating and amplifying the individual's sense of superiority. If family members only engage with information that supports their preconceived notions, it can fuel a distorted self-image and a dismissive attitude towards others' perspectives.
  • Complex Trauma: Echo chambers that exacerbate confirmation bias can create a volatile and emotionally charged environment within the family. Constant conflict and polarization can lead to heightened stress and anxiety, contributing to complex trauma. Children raised in such environments may internalize the belief that relationships are inherently conflict-ridden and struggle to form secure attachments in adulthood.
  • Solution: Scripture calls believers to humility, openness, and discernment in their interactions with others. Philippians 2:3 advises, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." This verse reminds individuals to consider the perspectives and needs of others, avoiding the trap of confirmation bias and self-centeredness. Additionally, James 1:19 exhorts believers to be "quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry," emphasizing the importance of patience and understanding in fostering constructive dialogue and reconciliation.
  1. Identity and Self-Esteem Issues:
  • Feudal Japan (12th-19th centuries): In feudal Japan, adherence to societal norms and hierarchical structures was paramount to maintain social harmony. Individuals who deviated from expected roles or expressed divergent opinions risked social ostracism and loss of status. Samurai, for instance, were expected to adhere strictly to the Bushido code, suppressing personal beliefs and emotions for the sake of honor and conformity. This pressure to conform could lead to identity struggles and diminished self-esteem for those unable to reconcile their true selves with societal expectations.
  • Narcissism: In families where validation is tied to conformity and adherence to a certain image or belief system, individuals may develop narcissistic traits as a way to gain approval and maintain self-esteem. They may prioritize external validation over authenticity, leading to a superficial sense of self and difficulty in forming genuine connections.
  • Complex Trauma: Suppressing one's true beliefs and identity within the family to fit in can have long-lasting effects on self-esteem and identity formation. Children who are unable to express their authentic selves may develop a fragmented sense of identity and struggle with feelings of worthlessness. This internal conflict can contribute to complex trauma, as individuals grapple with the dichotomy between their true selves and the persona they present to the world.
  • Solution: Scripture offers assurance of identity and worth in God's eyes. Psalm 139:14 proclaims, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." This verse affirms the inherent value and uniqueness of each individual as creations of God. Additionally, Ephesians 2:10 reminds believers that they are "God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do," highlighting the purpose and significance of every person's life. Through these verses and others, scripture provides a foundation for building identity and self-esteem grounded in God's love and purpose for each individual.
Whats the solution?
History has shown us that In societies where a sense of nihilism prevails, marked by a rejection or lack of belief in traditional values and ideologies, several psychological phenomena and behaviors can emerge, such as narcissism and complex trauma.
Ancient scripture and wisdom passed down to us by ancients who understood all this and built their society around the framework of virtue and truth. Their way of life is a potent weapon against "hard times" and has stood the test of time.
On the other hand, our consumerist society and instant gratification seeking public are not in a position to help a TI. In fact, i have found that they will, with your best intentions in heart ofcourse, make the situation worse.
As a TI, you are better off looking inward, understanding yourself and others and learn from the mistakes of the past.
Understanding This paradigm/attitude/belief system can really make a difference to your everyday life and interactions as a TI.

2024.05.07 10:38 thedayudied I think I’m experiencing spiritual warfare for the first time

I’ve been so happy and in peace as I’ve grown a stronger and closer relationship with the Lord. However these past few weeks I’ve felt depression, stress, guilt, anxiety. Even as far as suicidal thoughts? Where even I get shocked myself because I’ve been again, so in peace. I think negatively, doubting if I’m a good person, feeling alone, goes on and on. I’ve experienced it all before but this time it feels very different. Nonsensical.
Please let me know if this is spiritual warfare or what you’ve experienced in relation ?
I kindly ask you Pray that God cast this malignant ?? Energy/thoughts/spirits?? Away. To leave me alone. Let me be. My inside emotional self is suffering and I don’t know why. I know God hears all of us and takes care of us all, he is what gives me strength.
I do want to include a message of hope to you all also. Couple days ago , I dreamt about a certain event that occurred in the Bible, but in our times. I remember exclaiming in the dream that the Bible spoke about this, Amen. (Never have I ever had a religious dream in my life before) The next day I wake up to seeing the related event ‘s verse being the verse of the day on the Youversion app from the Bible. In my heart I feel it is a sign from God, an inexplicable one, one that speaks directly to me. God loves us. I’m here to spread his message of hope. God bless you all. Thank you.

2024.05.07 10:35 Saintly009 26 [M4F] Christian man seeking Christian woman #Washington #Online

I'm told women want a man who knows what he wants, so here's the whole nine yards. If there is anything here that you are not willing to accept, then don't. You will not change me now or years down the line. Obviously I intend to grow and mature (as one ought to), but I have decided who I am and what I want out of a relationship.
I am looking for a woman that I can make a permanent covenant bond with; I have no interest in flings or "long-term relationships."
I don't intend to come across as bitter or angry with any of this, just clear and up-front. It makes things easier for both of us.
A bit about me:
My faith in Christ is paramount in my life. I would not be where I am without him. In taking interests in various things, I've learned a lot about God's character and design. Each new thing I learn fills me with more worship of him and wonder at his works. It is very important to me that you share this admiration of God.
I have a full-time job that I am very satisfied with, but what I feel truly passionate about is art and storytelling. To be honest, I've hit a bit of a block lately as far as my output. But I've been trying to find my feet so I can make something valuable to share with the world. I think that art and stories are a fundamental part of being human, not just a luxury. So pretty much any kind of art will spark passion in me, be it music, cinema, video games, literature, video essay, sculpture, etc. I could go back and forth for hours on a lot of things. My hope is that you and I will be able to enjoy art together and create some of our own.
I frequently spend time with another gentleman from my Church and we enjoy conversations about personal projects and contemporary issues, along with walks along beaches and park trails. He is a very important friend in my life, and I am lucky to know such a kind soul. Things aren't well with my family, so I really need that kind of presence.
While I rely on my bicycle for transport (no car), it's not a problem for me. I've been riding bikes since I was in elementary school (maybe even before). It would be really nice to ride down some trails with you.
What I expect from you:
-You need to be a follower of Jesus Christ. God needs to be an active part of your life because I intend to raise our children under Biblical values.
-You need hobbies and interests apart from me. I'm fine with helping you find things you like.
-You need to have no mileage.
-You must be humble and respectful. "Boss babe" attitudes are not attractive to me.
-You cannot have any tattoos or piercings.
-No cosmetic products. It's not good for your body and I am attracted women, not makeup. This includes fake nails and fake eyelashes. I don't need you to look "pretty." You character is more important to me.
-Related to the previous, no use of image filters in photos. I do not like the type of people who are vain and vapid enough to feel the need to use filters on their photos.
-Again related to the previous, you need to have a limited social media presence. If you have a business or post something of value (like art, for example), then I have no problem. What I'm talking about is having an Instagram or Facebook account where you make random posts to nobody in particular to "update" the internet on your life or post tons of pictures of yourself online. Basing your self-worth on the comments and likes from strangers on the internet is unhealthy, and I find people's obsessive need to take pictures of themselves very unattractive and vain.
-If we marry, I expect you to be fully submissive to me. There can't be two leaders in a household because one will have to submit to the other.
-I expect you to view marriage as something that you put work into. Marriages are a team effort, so I expect you to be a help meet.
-You need to treat me like a partner, not an adversary. Getting into arguments and nagging me helps neither of us. You must have conflict-resolution skills and a solution mindset.
-You need excellent communication skills. This means understanding yourself, putting your thoughts into words other people can understand, and verbalizing things rather than expecting me to read your thoughts.
-You cannot play games with me. Telling me about other guys to make me jealous or planning dates for specific days to pressure me into committing to you are wicked and manipulative.
-While we are dating, you cannot have a "backup plan." I expect you to not be splitting your attention between me and other men. This includes spending time outside of work with other men (family excluded).
-You must be in shape. Don't be dishonest with yourself about your weight; check your BMI. This includes being underweight, anorexic, and bulimic.
-You cannot have taken any COVID-19 vaccinations from any provider.
-No smoking, drugs, or drunkenness.
-I expect you to completely renounce fast food if we date or marry. We will never feed our children McDonald's.
What you can expect from me:
-While we are dating, I will not be speaking to other women.
-I cannot meet your height, money, or attractiveness expectations. I am simply an average dude. I am critical, abstract, and imaginative in my thinking though.
-I will not ask you to do something that is unreasonable or demeaning. I will only ask of you what I expect from myself. No relationship is going to be 50/50 100% of the time, but I will put forth the effort I am able to. I expect the same out of you.
-I will not raise my hand against you. My hands will be a safe place for you.
-I will be available to listen to your troubles and help you bear through them.
-I will not demean you or humiliate you, whether or not you are in the room.
-I will show leadership in our house and exercise restraint with a mild temper.
-I will cherish you and treat you as my own body.
-I will devote myself to displaying my love for you in a language you understand, even if I am feeling distant from you because of troubles we face. I expect the same from you.
-I will not turn to another woman and betray you.
-I intend to keep every promise that I make with you.
-I will treat our children with patience and kindness, but diligently discipline them and instruct them appropriately.
Please tell me a bit about yourself and what you expect out of a relationship, but be practical and clear. A list of platitudes like "loyal, honest, etc" does not help me understand what you're looking for. Think about what your expectations look like in a tangible, everyday way.

2024.05.07 09:50 Theologydebate God divinely inspires liars, forgers and promotes works of deceit

Introduction

The bible and more specifically in this topic, the NT claim to be 'divinely inspired' by professing Christians of most walks. Without even getting into the discussion of what it means for a text to be divinely inspired it denotes some amount of involvement by God in its authorship.
I would like to bring up the issue over the authors of the New Testament books. For all intents and purposes I will stick to using terms that most appropriately fit. So hence the definitions
Pseudepigrapha: A work which is falsely attributed to an author whilst the the text may or may not claim it was written by said author
Forgery: A work which is falsely attributed to an author while the text claims it is written by said author (a lie)
Now these are obviously similar for example a work can be a forgery and a pseudepigrapha both at the same time it can be claimed to be written by x and attributed to x author despite the claim for it being widely disputed from evidence. So for all intents and when I use the term Pseudepigrapha I will refer to a work which is falsely attributed an author WITHOUT the text claiming it was written by said author and forgery I will use to refer to a work which is falsely attributed to an author WITH the text claiming it was written by said author

Analysis

When it comes to the New Testament Cannon we can look at the gospels; Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. Many evangelical fundamentalists believe the names of the gospels are the actual disciples of Jesus or early followers who wrote them and this is never specified in the text so we can get that out of the way.
In fact in the gospel of Luke we get an endorsement of this viewpoint and an acknowledgement that the good news was first and foremost a circulating oral tradition
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. - Luke 1:1-4
Furthermore we get the catechism of the catholic church which seems to acknowledge the authorship as such
The written Gospels. "The sacred authors, in writing the four Gospels, selected certain of the many elements which had been handed on, either orally or already in written form; others they synthesized or explained with an eye to the situation of the churches, the while sustaining the form of preaching, but always in such a fashion that they have told us the honest truth about Jesus.
2nd edition CCC 124:3
So by in large these works are pseudepigrapha. They do not claim to be written by said authors even if in common parlance they may be thought to be. The only exception here is John, where it claims to be written by a John but not John of Zebedee (an apostle) a common name so that is at least plausible. In the case the gospels do not contain misinformation or lies about authorship.
Once you get to the Pauline epistles things get messy.
I'll be drawing a lot from Bart Ehrmans works here, the go to source for this is Forged, or Forged and Counterforged.
To skip the riff-raff see this video by Dan Maclellan on why the Pastoral Epistles are widely doubted even amongst critical scholars, even amongst those with a faith commitment.
The consensus approximation: Link to an article and the image
As we can see not a single scholar things that Paul wrote Hebrews and less than 25% believe that he wrote 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy and Titus and >50% believe he did not write that while the rest are uncertain.
And before anyone rejects this as secular liberal 21st century scholarship, this is an opinion that has been in circulation since the start of the 19th century and widely accepted amongst scholars before the turn of the 20th century

Evidence for non-Pauline authorship

Heres a summarised list of arguments for the non-Pauline authorship
Content
1 Timothy
2 Timothy
There is also Ephesians
Titus

Evidence of Intentional Deceit

So far I have only built a case for pseudepigrapha at the very least. From now on I will add context that allows me to make the assertion that this is not only pseudepigrapha but is intentional deceit in writing hence a Forgery
1, 2 Timothy, Titus, Ephesians all start of from the directly presented as letters from Paul the Apostle to Timothy and to Titus in the opening texts. I cant be bothered pasting them all but you can search for yourself to confirm. The author does not claim to be a disciple of Paul or one of Pauls students the author explicitly states he is Paul and that he is writing to said audience. These claims are LIES and there are no two way around it. You cannot claim to be someone who you are not, if you do you are lying and it does not matter if you are in actuality the student of someone (withstanding the fact we have no evidence the author ever met Paul).
Bart Ehrman points out (and other scholars) that 2 Timothy is littered with verisimilitudes, that is the author claiming to be Paul continuously barrages the reader with biographical detail in excess that is commonplace in forgeries. Just read through 2 Timothy and contrast it with something like Romans or Philemon. Paul constantly appeals to his backstory and status whereas his other letters are straightforward and to the point assuming that whoever on the receiving end knows who he is for granted.
Refuting Objections
The most commonplace: objection is that pseudepigrapha was commonplace in the Christian world therefore not deceitful. First of all just because something is commonplace it does not change the fundamental fact that a lie is a lie.
Also this is just patently false and is actually rejected by Paul himself!
In 2 Thessalonians 2:2 and 3:17 a book that a majority regard as authentic to Paul, he warns of those false teachers who may use Pauls name. Something the Pastorals and Ephesians clearly do which is rebuked by Paul himself. This also goes against everything and anything we know about Early church tradition as there is an entire list of books that were rejected by the early Church fathers due to their message and authorship, this includes works such as 3 Corinthians which was correctly identified to be a forgery as well as the Epistle of Barnabas. We have surmounting evidence that false attribution of texts was viewed as a horrific action by early Jews, Christians and Paul himself. People who state that this practice was well accepted have nothing but apologetic nonsense with no real world evidence to back it up.
We also have evidence that scribes who lie when recording matters of faith disobey God and commit sin as well as taint the message and the law to be followed to the believer(s).
How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD,” when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Jeremiah 8:8-9
Hence we know that even within Jewish thought this practice is a great evil.

Summary

There are works in the Biblical cannon that are forgeries littered with deceit, many of which begin the text by stating a lie and claiming a false author.

Conclusions
Unless one can surmount a case that not only refutes a plethora of data and facts that univariably point towards forged authorship of works that are falsely attributed to Paul as well as long withstanding academic consensus for other a century, the believer has to accept one or more of the following as they naturally follow.
  1. God lies and promotes lies and liars through divine inspiration.
  2. The work(s) of the New Testament are not divinely inspired
  3. Only some of the New Testament Canon is divinely inspired, the forged texts are not
  4. God divinely inspired both Authors (2 at a minimum) Paul and the author of the non-Pauline letters to write about matters of faith including directly contradictory passages where Paul affirms and recognizes the role of women in church whilst simultaneously having pseudo-Paul reject a woman to teach in church. Not even mentioning contradictory views on charisma, faith, the flesh and works between Paul and Pseudo Paul.
  5. Last but not least, the most simple conclusion. None of it is divinely inspired whatsoever

2024.05.07 09:50 Jxllo_- I don't think im gonna make it.

I'm a lesbian Christian, I've been told so many times it's wrong with Bible verses such as Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, although I've heard that it's just about pedophillia I haven't seen any evidence for that. Jude 1:7, 1 Corinthians 7:2. although I'm Asexual and I don't want sexual relations there's verses that also apply even if I am asexual like Romans 1:26-28, Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:8-11. But I don't know what I'm supposed to do, I don't feel straight and I don't feel aromantic. I don't get those romantic feelings I do with women. So am I just meant to pray it away? I don't want to be away from God, I believe in Jesus, but I'd need to follow his commandments too.

2024.05.07 09:49 ArtistShare4105 What if I'm supposed to go to hell?

Partially a thought exercise partially a genuine concern.
What if like, I'm just supposed to go to hell?
The Bible says there's going to be people who call on Jesus who never knew him, that there's going to be people who are SURE they're going to heaven that end up in hell. That people lie to themselves about how good they are, water their time here, get lulled into false doctrine and continue to sin.
What if I'm just in that category?
I've been really struggling to feel like I'm one of God's children recently. I've been repeating old sins, but not even on auto pilot, like actively choosing to sin just because I want to.
I've been serving two masters. Spending my time with other people following the rules, saying kind words, doing acts of service, but I'm not praying, not reading the Bible, not wanting to spend any time at all with God.
I know he loves me, I know he's who he says he is, and still I don't want to be around him.
I've been calling myself a Christian for years and there's been times I was so SURE I really was, but I don't know how to sense God's presence, how to discern the Holy Spirit, I don't think I've ever known or loved Jesus, truly.
I'm exhausted of trying, too, because the Devil's ruining my life anytime I try to get closer to God and still I feel farther than ever.
I'd send me to hell if I didn't know me. I don't want to suffer but I don't think I can convince myself I don't deserve it.
Like maybe I'm just going to hell. Maybe I'm just supposed to.
Maybe just some people aren't gonna get saved. Maybe I'm one of those people.

2024.05.07 09:48 WeighTheEvidence2 Mark 12:29 in light of John 17:3 - how Jesus refutes the trinity

Hi, I'm u/WeighTheEvidence2, a non-trinitarian monotheist, and my thesis for this post is:

THE TRINITY CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE'S AND JESUS' OWN IDEA OF THE ONE TRUE GOD

Let's weigh the evidence

° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° °

I've already made seperate posts about both Mark 12:29, where Jesus affirms that not only is there only one God, but that God is one, and John 17:3, where Jesus affirms that only the Father is the one true God.
Here are the verses again just for convenience.
NIV, Mark 12:29 (where Jesus tells us the most important commandment):
Quote
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Unquote
NIV, John 17:3 (where Jesus prays to the Father, letting us know exactly who that one God is):
Quote
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Unquote
Now when we bring both of these moments together, we see clearly what Jesus was saying in his own words. He explicitly said that the Father is the one true God, and no one else - not the Holy Spirit, not himself.
Almost as if Jesus knew that in the distant future, his so-called "followers" would go astray and start inventing things not found in the scripture.
It's as if Jesus predicted the future and was directly talking to trinitarians with these explicit statements.
It's as if Jesus saw, with his own eyes, that his followers had, somewhere along the line, become his worshippers, and he was rebuking them before it even happened.
Yet we still have christians today fighting tooth and nail trying to keep afloat the already defunct doctrine of the trinity.
It's the most important commandment according to Jesus that God is one. If the trinity was real then Jesus should have said that God is one in three or three in one. But he didn't.
Jesus himself refutes trinitarians.

2024.05.07 09:40 MailCareful7191 The Bible is so full of contradictions and scientific and even historical inaccuracies

So lately I’ve been watching some TikToks and googling contradictions in both the OT and NT and I’m a lot more confident about some of the supernatural stuff being bullshit. Well I always knew it was bullshit from the start but know ik the scientific and historical inaccuracies as well instead of just believing everything I saw on TikTok. And how do we barely have any other outside evidence for the gospels when everyone was supposedly there? Hell, even the gospels don’t seem to agree with some things and they were supposedly standing right in front of Jesus? Strange. Not to mention the so called prophecies that can be referred to something completely different or something that wasn’t even fulfilled in the first place and literally anybody could have wrote it down from the OT to make it look like they predicted it. And yet these numbskull flat earth evangelicals claim everything in the Bible to be historically accurate. I recommend watching Dan Mclellan on YouTube/TikTok he does a very good job explaining these concepts and other things about Judaism and Christianity. And he absolutely destroys people with science and logic. Scientific knowledge is a Christian’s worst nightmare EDIT: I honestly start laughing like a maniac and clap my hands like a seal when I hear some dumb ass shit like “The Bible is the most historically accurate book of all time”
