Hi, folks. If this is the wrong portion of reddit to post this, just let me know and I'll try looking else where. I have what I think is a simple question. I'm migrating from a small SSD to a larger SSD. I'd like to clone the small one into the larger one then swap out the hardware. I've been looking for something to do the actual clone but all I can find are suites or services. I'm a home user and I'd rather not pay $60+ to use a program once. The new, larger drive, is in an external USB drive case and I just want a quick one off clone. Anyone have any suggestions I can look into? Free or inexpensive is a bonus. Anything I've tried so far has the clone feature as a "Pro" function locked behind having to buy said software.
Edit - I forgot to add that I'm on a Windows 11 laptop if that changes things. I'm trying to migrate my OS into a new drive. I already backed up my important files, but I'd rather not have to track down all the installers for my preferred programs and utilities'.

Description of Original Problem: After downloading the most recent AMD Adrenalin graphic card updates directly from AMD's website, Windows will then download what I think is an older version of the same update and force-install it the next time it automatically checks for updates.
Troubleshooting: My screen would flicker badly while gaming sometimes, especially if I alt-tabbed. Bad enough that if i had epilepsy, it definitely would have triggered it. At one point the computer crashed entirely and would no longer accept a displayport connection and I had to dig out an HDMI cable. To fix it I did a full reinstall of AMD's drivers directly from AMD's website. This fixed the issue and the flickering and crashing stopped. Then, windows update downloaded two updates (and did not give me the option to cancel or uninstall them.) and now the issues are back again. I can reinstall AMD's software again, but this will only delay the inevitable. I would like to know how to permenantly disable these updates from appearing in Windows Update.
The bad updates are: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 30.0.13023.4001 And Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Extension - 26.20.13002.133
I do not see an option to remove them in Windows Update. I also tried shutting off the "automatically download manufacturer's app and icons" setting buried in device installation settings in system settings, but they still appear. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I'm hoping to figure out remote CCTV access for staff, that is easy to access on site and VPN. Nothing simpler then web page over some dodgy software however installation and configuration on each client PC. While some sites seems to have decent CCTV systems (hik vision) some of them running some stuff that is hard to find anything on internet other than one pdf and one plugin.

Meadco Neptune plugin looks to be something very old as well maybe not even supported anymore by modern browsers.
Idea is to isolate this from rest of the network, create firewall policy to allow access one way from proxy server running Nginx or Apache proxy so it's present with nice URL to end user running HTTPS. Don't know how feasible this is just an idea that I will be trying test, but maybe anyone else is doing this?

I'm new to linux gaming. I wanted to try how games work so I gave it a go. On my Zorin OS I transferred an old game from a DVD in order to test how games work in general in Linux. After that I installed Wine using Terminal. Then I installed Zorin windows app support using Terminal which I think also installs some version of wine along with Bottles.
Case 1- I double clicked on the exe file and the game opened. Not fully but the first logo screen appeared.
Case 2- I created a bottle and transferred the game inside the .vaflatpak bottles directory and executed the exe. It also ran and the first logo appeared. Bottles app had a lot of configuration options including DLSS, Fidelity FX and many more. But the drawback is I've to put the game in the flatpak directory without it I can't use bottles. Also in the components section, under runner subsection there are two options soda-9.0-1 and sys-wine-9.0. I think one is included in the windows app support and another is the actual wine software.
Case 3- I tried launching the game using the terminal by giving command wine game.exe and it showed a lot of errors like Unhandeled type and broken nvidia Randr detected. I tried putting the game at different directories including .wine/directory but the game wouldn't launch only the errors were there.
So I've my doubts regarding these cases. First of all the double click case is the most convenient one. Just click twice and that's it. Bottles provides a lot of options and settings. So which is the best option to run games in linux? And how they differ? Which provides the best performance without any latency issues snd stutters?

I'm looking for help/pointers/expertise in a few areas. I just built my first home NAS with some spare hard drives I had from computer builds over the years and sourced some parts online to complete the build. Now, I'm kind of overwhelmed on which direction I should go when choosing the software or OS to install onto it. I primarily want to use this for opening and saving art files with access to a folder from my network panel on file explorer on my PC.
What would you recommend for this sort of application? I've looked into Synology, but again I have little experience so I'm not sure if there's a better option out there I haven't found yet.
Another question I have is in regards to the drives. I currently have a WD 2TB, WD 1TB, and a WD 320GB installed. Is it okay to use various drive sizes or will that cause system issues?
My last question is about my motherboard. I obviously have nothing installed at this current time, but I tried to power it on to see if it would post, and the CPU fan kicks on which tells me its getting power at the least. The board is an HKUXZR NAS N5105. I have it hooked up to a monitor through HDMI and I don't see a stock BIOS spin up on the screen. Is this because I don't have any software installed onto it yet? Hoping its not DOA. I have 32GB of crucial ram installed as well. I've read on some forums this RAM works and the listing on amazon says it supports this RAM setup, but I'm just trying to diagnose what I could be doing wrong or if this motherboard even has a BIOS on it and I need to install something on the SSD first.

Bit of a long one here, I really appreciate anyones time or help they may provide.
Recently I upgraded my PC, I updated to AM5 (Parts listed below) so I replaced the board, CPU and ram, also installed a new AIO Cooler while I was there. Ever since the update I have experience some stuttering issues intermittently, usually on first start up I have to restart the computer a few times and then it will behave normally, the stuttering occurs accrose the board in games and even trying to watch a youtube video. There's even noticeable "lag" in my mouse as I move it across the screen (Generally my first test to know I may have to restart the computer and try again). I am using a vertically mounted GPU bracket from CoolerMaster however that has been in the system since the previous rendition, it only has a PCIE Gen 3 riser cable however I read that it wouldn't affect performance too greatly, just want to see if I have missed anything on the software side before I pull the rig apart and have to dig a bit deeper. As I stated this happens usually on first start up, however after a few restarts etc; it seemingly works perfectly fine, no frame issues, no game crashes, everything exactly how it should be. I have read through a bunch of posts here already in regards to this issue, I have tried everything I can think of or have been shown so far apart from pulling the pc apart.
Things I've tried so far:

Change to bios to UEFI,
Removed all unnecessary apps,
Used msconfig to disable any programs that aren't required,

I’m currently adding job titles and departments to every user in ad (no idea why no one did it before me). Once done I would like to create dynamic groups to catch both roles and departments that will provide access to all relevant share point sites and even go into installing different softwares (once I’ve built out the image past the generic one currently used)
The reason I want to implement this is we are near enough all cloud based, on prem groups are only used for vdi access and some other specific things
I know this will be a lot of work as I’ll have to speak to every department on needs but does anyone see any issues with this method or think there’s a better one?

I like how Windows Defender helps the user keep all the defense software including commercial antivirus in a single place.
I also love the sensation of accomplishment when I can get all the checkboxes green by installing the software it is asking me to install. It's like completing a collection of rare baseball cards.
There's nothing similar to that in Linux. Nothing that would barely resemble a "Linux Defender". Nothing at all.

Ever since Lego AFK got crippled there has been a massive influx of “helpful” users sharing macro-this and software-that solutions in the name of bypassing AFK detection. Nearly every post contains something that can or will be picked up on by Easy Anti Cheat.
EAC has kernel level memory access and can wander in and out of nearly any process it likes on your system. EAC watches common windows DLLs and can tell who/what is calling it, so it knows your script is pressing keys and not your keyboard. If the software runs in the same memory space as Fornite (your computers ram) then it is 100% detectable by EAC and could result in a ban at any moment, 6 min or 6 months from now.
To be clear, I dont think anyone really cares that much about rubber and duct tape solutions. However, installing software and running scripts to bypass AFK detection is entirely different. I’m not advocating for a police state here but posts that are created solely for the purpose of sharing some script or software, I feel, should be taken down.
We should hold ourselves to a standard that will A) continue to allow this subreddit to be linked to by other “proper” Fortnite subreddits like /fortnitebr and B) ensure the long term health and success of this subreddit. If users are coming here to violate Epics TOS in droves we could potentially see the subreddit banned by Reddit admins at Epics request. If users are coming here and being provided solutions that result in bans that also negatively impacts the community. Other subreddits could restrict cross-linking to posts here if this place is a cesspool of TOS violations. There are literal children reading these posts with accounts they care about that could be swept up in ban waves for running scripts they don’t understand.
This doesn’t even touch the surface of the very serious cyber security concerns around users downloading random ass scripts and executables to their windows systems. Trojans and keyloggers only happen in movies, right?

I'm on the hunt for an e-reader primarily for diving into programming books, both at home and when traveling. Given my screen-heavy days, I'm leaning towards an E Ink device to dial down on blue light exposure before bedtime.
Most of my books come in PDF or ePub format, ranging from 500 to 800 pages, packed with text, code snippets, and occasional diagrams and images. Physical copies are generally about 19 cm x 23 cm in size.
I've tried the Kindle 5e, but it struggled to handle diagrams, images, and code within PDFs converted to ePub.
Here are my requirements:

• Ability to (side)load large PDFs and some ePub files.
• Margin removal feature for PDFs, or the option to install software like Koreader.
• Color and writing experience aren't a priority.
• My budget is around 300-400€, and I'm open to buying used devices. I'm based in Europe.

Since 13" models are out of my price range, I've narrowed down my options to three models:

• Kindle Scribe - 16GB for 275€ on Amazon.
• Kobo Elipsa 2E for 390€ on Amazon.
• Boox Note Air 3 for 459€ on Boox Euro Shop.

I’ve managed to install Arch Linux both manually and using the archinstall script. But what I am still not sure is what exactly do I need for a working environment.
I am using a Lenovo T590 with a i7-8665U and only a iGPU 620 UHD. There is microcode, hardware acceleration packages, bluetooth packages, cups and avahi for my printer, xdg and noto fonts.
I want to make it ready for daily usage as much as I can.
Oh and for a Plasma setup, should I go with standard or meta packages?
Can you please share your setup (if that’s safe and possible)? In terms of software packages installed and maybe other stuff too.
