2024.05.19 11:42 AFrostNova Can a language's writing system affect its native speakers memory?

I was recently having a debate with a friend. He is a native speaker of mandarin & cantonese, and while I am a native english speaker. The essence of our discussion was whether or not character based languages innately improve a speakers memory vs alphabet based languages?
Their argument (for) was that this was the same topics such as the argument with Japanese blue v Green & perception. Language you learn affects the way your brain operates, so it is by itself a possible claim. Expanding on this, the number of characters you need to know for fluently engaging in society is significantly larger than the number of letters you need to know. He argued that if you forget a word you can sound it out & guess the meaning from its root and prefixes/affixed. He additionally brought up memorizing stroke order (but my counter there, that stroke order is fairly consistent across characters & intuitiveh
I argued against, as we don't read words one letter at a time anyway. It is remembering whole words, and to that end his own argument (remembering root words, prefixes, etc.) not only makes it comparable to mandarin, but in my opinion the Chinese radical system actually makes it easier to guess the meaning of a new character (at least in traditional) compared to english. Additionally I think the comparison to the "blue/green" studies is unfair - this feels to be a better example of nature v nurture. Does something about being a character based language speaker improve your memory, or does the fact that their (in china) education system emphasis memorization (poetry recitation, etc) lead to it.
That is a huge oversimplification of our discussion it was multiple hours. But the gist is, is there something about chinese & other character based languages that make their speakers better at remembering things?

2024.05.19 09:56 Helleri What is this fresh hell I've stepped into And is there any real help with navigating it?

I finish downloading the game. It opens fine, Has a landing screen. I go to join server. I want official. No officials without at least one mod (this dear jane thing). But can I install it from the point of it telling me I need it? Nope, trying takes me to page that is identical to the install page I would eventually find except that it lacks an install button. An install page that I have to reach through the landing page, which it seems I have to close and reopen the client to get to, as there is no readily apparent way to back out to that initial page. Once I'm actually in the mods list.
Searching seems to have little to nothing to do with whole phrase or even whole word matching. Rather it seems to narrow a search alphabetically one letter at a time and if you get ahead of it's ability to think it doesn't know what you want and shows you random results or no results at all. So I type d (lowercase mind you because it automatically throws out all results if I type upper case even though that exactly matches the result)...e...a... Ah there it pops up. I click install. It waits a ridiculously long time to download 272.89.MB before failing. I click it again, and again, and again. Fails each time. I restart client. I restart machine. Same result. Down speed connection is fine,. there's plenty of storage space.
Okay, so maybe a manual install. Those are generally better anyway. But where to extract to? I know what drive the game is on. But every googling of what directory to extract to yields a path I simply don't have or can't find. I know where the game is located. I'm looking through every folder and sub folder one by one. Can't find anything that indicates that's where the mod should extract to...
I'm stuck. No idea what to do here. I expected the game itself to be unoptimized. I didn't think I'd have to learn game development just to play it. Glad the game was gifted or I might be fuming right now instead of just being annoyed and confused. But can anyone tell me what to actually do here to get this up and running?

2024.05.19 09:55 popablaster I wish I could dissociate my consciousness from my body, give my body its own consciousness, and then torture the fuck out of it

I'm so fucking sick of taking 1-3 hours to fall asleep (yes THREE HOURS) each night and then waking up long before I get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Whereas I know that many other people fall asleep and for a long time uninterrupted much much faster, like my dad who will be snoring in less than 5 mins. No I don't have any diagnosed sleep disorders, my body in particular is just fucking retarded. Just wound up with this sorry excuse for a body how unfortunate oh well
Tonight I made it a point to sleep extra early, at 11pm, when I had been sleeping at 1-3am for a while before. I took a warm shower, then immediately went to bed without looking at any screens (even if I did, both my phone and computer are perpetually on night mode anyway). I also don't drink alcohol or abuse any substances, basically I should be in good condition to have restful sleep most nights. Well guess what? I actually did fall asleep relatively quickly, probably in under an hour, but my retard fuck body ruins what would be a productive sleep by waking up at 2am and it's been an hour of lying in the dark trying every USELESS fucking sleep help technique i know of (counting backwards from 500, thinking of words for each letter of the alphabet, relaxing muscles one by one... all strategies that seem to work for other people having trouble sleeping but OF COURSE NOT ME), so I give up and I'm here ranting about how much I want to inflict suffering on my own useless noncooperative pussy of a body. Daytime tomorrow I'm probably going to be tired as shit and only THEN I'll fall asleep easily........ hmmmm i wonder why? fucking retard
It's like you don't want to work with me you fucking sorry piece of meat. I work out on most days and stuff food down my body, wayyy more calories than my natural bitch body's appetite, both healthy things that would be expected to help sleep, but then this shit happens? Is this shit youre pulling on me your way of getting revenge on me for putting you through this (exercising and eating like a healthy person)? I'm doing this for you and our health you fucking ingrate.
I also have diarrhea rn, have had it for a few days, I don't even know how the fuck that happens considering that my day to day diet (which is pretty healthy as far as I can tell; good macronutrients, calorie surplus to gain weight, and good amount of water) barely fluctuates. In theory 1L of milk every day may in theory result in the shits, but I have been drinking the same amount of milk everyday for months without any problems (I know it's the same because I buy those 3-pack bags of milk from the store and go through 1 bag/day). And if it turns out im lactose intolerant? Oh well just another entry in my body's massive catalogue of faults, no surprise there.
Speaking of eating, also such a fucking pussy in that regard. Tonight 2am woke up with extreme hunger pangs even though I finished eating, meeting my daily calorie/protein goal right before bed (and lying down or taking a shower soon after eating is apparently bad for you, wow very cool! fucking retarded human body requires so much shit and then refuses to work even when those requirements are met) so im here typing this as i eat goldfish crackers. I spend a disgusting amount of time cooking, shopping and calorie counting (which is fine) but also a disgusting amount of time EATING because my body is, again, a fucking pussy. I am probably one of the slowest eaters I know period, I could probably literally be starving and still take 30min to finish 500cal worth of rice. And the constant gagging that always seems to happen in the latter half of any meal, shut the fuck up and down it you useless sack of shit.
Ok now lets talk about the gym. Weak ass pathetic fucking body, of course i am small and skinny by default because my genetics said fuck you and im stuck with this. I've been training on and off for almost 2 years now yet some people who have literally never touched a weight or counted a single calorie in their life can probably lift more than me and somehow also progress faster and gain faster if they keep going because woohoo genetics!!!! maybe if you decided to cooperate and sleep like a normal functional body you would be much better off physically? unless you want to be a fucking loser for good, you sorry cunt. Now don't get me wrong, I have improved quite a lot over my training, but... see above
I wish I could dissociate my mind, soul and consciousness from my body, give it a retroactive consciousness of its own, and punish it for all the bitchmade shit its been pulling. Don't want to fall asleep? Well I hope you enjoy being fully awake for the whole night because I'm going to be torturing you medieval style the whole time. Thats what you wanted right? Hahahaha. Want to pussy out like usual and nap during the day? Too bad, you asked for it. Bitchmade eating difficulty? I will shove more food down your gullet than you can handle, lets see how you are after that... or I'll completely starve you instead since you don't want to eat right? Fucking cunt. And weak ass body at the gym? Either I'll make sure you train to failure every time until your very sinews are tearing, or I'll let your muscles atrophy to nothing since thats what you wanted right?
And this is just the physical side of things, not even going to get into the other shit. At least I'm mentally okay I guess, don't have depression or anxiety or anything, so we know those arent causing my somatic problems its just my body being fucking stunted
There is so much more I want to get out but it's 4am now and i'm tired on less than 3 hours of sleep and we all know why. yes, it's so fun how I'm too tired to do anything, yet unable to sleep! so very fun!! worst of both worlds, thanks for nothing fucking disabled body. I'm going to play video games to hopefully wear myself out ENOUGH, then try to head back to sleep with zero guarantee of success. good night

2024.05.19 09:50 transitorydreams Lestat’s letter

“Do not waist life…”
Oh Lestat, the illiterate boy & young man you were; so desperate to learn & be good, with a Mother for whom knowledge & escape through books was her only solace… who couldn’t even be bothered to teach you the alphabet.
Now, with your preternatural skills, you can read & write & do any thing you wish… but of course - it makes sense that you would never have entirely learned how to spell, or at least that there’d be the odd, common words you didn’t know. (Occurred is also spelled incorrectly.)
Little details, breaking my heart even more.
Thank you everyone for caring so much, you thought about the spelling of Lestat’s letter. I noticed. I care about every tiny detail like this & feel it, like love: deep in my soul.
Also: is Dreamstat really going to make me cry in every single episode of season 2, even when he’s barely in the episode for a breath?! He made me cry in episode 1, and here too.
Oh Louis: to read this letter & all your internal pain & shame & sorrow & guilt & love to deepen, I’m sure even more. Oh Sam, how you spoke the letter. Oh Lestat’s outfit, from their first “date”….
(I have much more to say on the episode, which I’ll do in the episode thread, but for now… I just loved this little detail…)

2024.05.19 09:21 Sniffin_Ener_Jeez The truth confusion about numerology

The truth confusion about numerology
Is Vietnamese numerology different from English? The reason is because Vietnamese has a different alphabet than English. Vietnamese has a ă â, u ư, o o ơ. Does it affect the result to conclude the index in numerology. The reason I put up this question is because according to the countries there will be different alphabets and how to calculate numbers and soul indices. For example, in English the letter Z equal to 8 whereas in Cestina, the letter Z equal to 5. Is there anything misunderstanding here?

2024.05.19 07:23 encore05 My IELTS experience. End me.

I thought it would be beneficial to share my IELTS experience (academic, computer-based) to decompress and de-traumatise myself haha.
I'm not a native English speaker, but I've lived in an English-speaking country for around 13 years now. I speak English daily and hardly ever use my first language (I hate it; it's so ugly). I need at least a score of 7 in every category for registration purposes. Basically, if I can't deliver, I cannot pursue a certain career. I breathe English, I think in English, I basically AM English. IELTS, pffff, should be a piece of cake, right? Oh boy, was I wrong.
I forced myself to do a little one-week IELTS bootcamp before my actual test, you know, just to be prepared and not waste money as this dumb test costs a fortune. I used the official practice tests. Listening? No worries, easily got an 8.5/9 every time. Reading? MHM. In my first reading test, I had 24 correct answers out of 40... The stupid YES / NO / NOT GIVEN questions were wonderful for someone who overthinks A LOT. I looked up some strategies and then got 8.5/9 every time for reading. EASY. Writing? I literally just looked at the structures needed and memorised a couple of fancy words. EAZZZYYYYY. Speaking? Well, I'm awkward as hell and introverted, but hey, I can speak if needed. All good. Also, there’s not really much to prepare for.
Fast forward to the testing day. I used a new shampoo the evening before (voluminous & shiny hair) and went to bed with wet hair. When I woke up, my hair had so much freaking volume, it exploded so much that it now basically filled my entire room. It was intimidating. No time to do anything about it - I put a cap on, and this somehow tamed it.
You should be there 30 minutes before your test starts. Traffic was a nightmare; I was there 20 minutes before the test and had no idea there was an introduction. I walked into a room full of people, listening to someone explaining stuff. Everyone stared at me. My nervous self became even more nervous, and my face probably mutated into a tomato. "Sorry," I mumbled and sat down somewhere in the darkest corner. We were then informed that 1. we are not allowed to take food with us. It really stung because I had this new tiny delicious protein bar with me as a treat, carefully chosen the day before. 2. We weren't allowed to wear watches and mobiles needed to be turned off. 3. The introduction lady stared right into my soul: "NO headwear is allowed." I had to remove my cap, guys. It was so messed up. My hair was everywhere, and I felt like a miserable mop. You then basically get married to your passport. DO NOT FORGET TO BRING IT. One girl got disqualified because she didn't have hers. Hold on to yours; you need it for EVERYTHING. The number of times they checked mine, before, during, and after, was insane. The whole test building was a mess, by the way. It was old, it smelled, it was damaged, and there was NO light. I felt depressed the second I entered that damn building. We then got herded into a tiny room with really old computers. Guess what? Passports got checked again. We were around 10 people, and they had just checked them before sending us into the room. Anyway, the test started. Listening was great, except apparently I don't know how to write "volcano" correctly. I went to the bathroom before the test, but I could already feel my bladder getting annoying during that part. When I started the reading section, my whole body was shaking. It was insanely cold in that room; I was wearing a hoodie. The reading part was so much harder in comparison to the practice tests. This also may have had something to do with the articles I got. They didn't interest me in the slightest and my nervousness was making it really hard to focus. I wiggled my way through it but had around 8-9 questions I wasn't sure of. Fun fact: they had 2 sections of these stupid NOT GIVEN, TRUE / FALSE questions. Just to celebrate my existence. I panicked a little during that section and ran out of time in the end. The reading part takes around 1 hour, and by then I felt tired, HUNGRY, exhausted... and I was almost peeing myself. They don't stop the time for you, so what kind of idiot goes to the toilet during an IELTS exam? Yes. I was that idiot. I lost 5 minutes of time for my writing exam. I honestly should have worn a diaper. I really needed those 5 minutes. Long story short: after task 1, my thoughts were "That's pretty meh, I'll come back and sparkle it up later." I ran out of time for task 2. I had 7 minutes left when I was working on my second paragraph. I didn't have a conclusion yet; I didn't proofread. Task 1 was simultaneously breathing down my neck. Guys, it was an absolute shit show. I also started freaking out, which probably didn't help much. I spewed out a conclusion, 3 sentences which did not make ANY sense. I tried to finish my second paragraph, which also now does not make ANY SENSE. And I wasn't able to proofread any of it. Did I mention the computers were ancient? You had to basically spank the keyboard for it to work. I'm sure there are lots of missing letters. Fark mi life.
Once I slumped out of that dark testing room, I honestly could have cried. I felt fragile, exhausted, HUNGRY, and just massively disappointed with myself. I just wanted to roll home and die in bed. But wait, I totally forgot - there was one more part to tackle. SPEAKING. Yay. A fun thing to do when you feel absolutely broken.
I had to loiter around for an hour, cap proudly back on my head, stuffed my face with the protein bar (which turned out to taste like an old sock), gulped down some water and an energy drink. I hadn't had caffeine for over 3 years, so drinking an energy drink might not have been the best option. I FELT SO ALIVE AND EVERYTHING PASSED IN THE SPEED OF LIGHT. YEEEEW HAAAAH. I galloped back into the testing center, peed my insides out in the bathroom (I've learned), stared into the mirror, took off my cap for one millisecond, and decided it was best to keep wearing it, for humanity. I sprinted out of the bathroom, wasn't even surprised that my passport got checked again, and, did I mention? They also love your fingerprints. They got taken around 5 times while I was there. "NO HEADWEAR." I had to take that damn cap off again and could feel my hair fluffing up. HOW CAN ANYONE TAKE ME SERIOUSLY WITH THAT HAIR? I now had to engage in an actual conversation with an actual human. First impression was out the window, bet. I had to sit around for 20 minutes, not being able to use my phone or anything. I could not sit still. I watched people leave other rooms, crying. Finally, the door opened, and I was let in for my speaking test. The tester was literally a machine in human form. He mechanically read questions to me. I didn't feel strongly about ANY question he asked me. They were all so boring, and I literally had nothing to say. One of them, for example, was "Does your family have an old belonging? What is it? And what do you know about it?" My family are minimalists; they don't keep stuff. There I was, having to give some sort of stupid presentation in one minute, and I literally had NOTHING to talk about. Guys, don't let this dishearten you though; just make stuff up. I ended up word vomiting on him. He had to stop me multiple times. I felt annoyed with how much I was talking, but hey, at least I said something. He knew I could yap and speak English. We were all good. After that, I had heart palpitations and am still high on caffeine while writing this.
If you have any questions regarding the test, I can attempt to help you. If you messed up your writing and potentially reading test, I feel you. I will very likely have to spend between $199-300 to resit it. I absolutely hate the IELTS and hope to tick it off... soon.

2024.05.19 06:42 Pretend_Orange1249 Looking for Writing apps to practice vocab

I'm looking for a writing app, similar to word, that will allow me to write hangul and spell check it.
I've tried using word (by switching the keyboard to hangul), but it doesn't spell check and when I use the scribble pen it ends up registering what I'm writing before I've completed writing the word. And a lot of times it does register the correct letter either, like it'll change 로 into 고 a lot.
All the hangul specific apps I've found seem to focus only on the hangul alphabet, which is great. But I want to start recalling my vocab and this is an excellent method for me that worked well when I was studying french.

2024.05.19 05:54 JohannGoethe New sub banner?

New sub banner?
Drafting new banner with the following:
“It is laid down by letter 🔢-🔠 in the writing of Thoth 𓁟, destined for the city of Amon 𓁩 [100], on which it depends. The (divine) designs are answered in Thebes (Θῆβαι) [30]: “It is decided”, they say, and it is for the Ennead 𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹𓊹. Whatever comes out of his mouth 👄, Amun 𓁩, the gods fix it for him, in accordance with orders. The message is for death or life, life and death depend on it for everyone. Except him, gathered in three 3️⃣.”
— Anon (3200A/-1245), Leiden I350 (§:lunar 🌗 stanza 300, aka letter T stanza)
In plain speak, when we see the following 3-30-300 pattern:
  1. Except him, gathered in three 3.
  2. The (divine) designs are answered in Thebes (Θῆβαι) [30].
  3. It is laid down by letter 🔢-🔠 in the writing of Thoth 𓁟 in stanza 300.
Which is the only stanza of the 28 stanza were Thoth is mentioned, in a 3200A (-1245) Egyptian papyrus exactly matching the column three of Greek alphabet:
https://preview.redd.it/wvscfwsk7b1d1.jpg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a12d885e9176af3cf9c3aa4ae2b093fbad8c1021
namely letter G [3], think: Grammata, meaing: “letters“ in Greek, letter L [30], think: Littera, meaning: “letter of the alphabet" in Latin, or Library 📚, in English, home of the books of Thoth, or T [300], think: Typos (τυπος), meaning: ”the shape of letters” in Greek, found extant some 400-years latter, even someone with a half-awake functing brain 🧠 will note that this cannot be a coincidence
All the stanzas give us clues like, thus evidening to us that the Greek alphabet, language, and words are Egyptian based.
Stanza 50 N
Likewise, when we go to stanza 50, aka the letter N, or 14th letter stanza, we find Hapi the Nile flood god coming out of his cave. This matches with all the flood gods of the latter religions, namely: Noah, Nuh, Vish-Nu, Ma-Nu, etc., either starting with letter N or N-themed names.
Notes
  1. This, in short, is how Peter Swift, Moustafa Gadalla, and Libb Thims founded Egypto Alphanumerics (EAN), a numerical evidence-based language science.

Type: 𓆎 [I6], thing: crocodile 🐊 spine; carto-phono: /km/; meaning: [?]; significance: root type of 𓆎 + 𓅓 + 𓏏 + 𓊖 or /km/ + /m/ + /t/ = Kemet, the original name of Egypt?
Abstract
Study of type: 𓆎 [I6], which somehow is believed to be the ”main” or first type the Egyptians used to define their country?
Egypt Name?
Wiktionary entry on Kemet, thought to mean Egypt:
https://preview.redd.it/vbb6ne7gma1d1.jpg?width=1686&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8070de202f473f6c12931bcffdd5114fd9892ebd
Where:
  • 𓆎 [I6], thing: “crocodile 🐊 scales” [?], meaning: /km/ [?]
  • 𓅓 [G17], thing: “owl 🦉”, carto-phono: /m/
  • 𓏏 [X1], thing: “bread 🍞”, carto-phono: /t/
  • 𓊖 [O49], meaning: city 🌆 or cosmos birth location
Whence:
𓆎 + 𓅓 + 𓏏 + 𓊖
Or
/km/ + /m/ + /t/ = Kemet
Meaning, supposedly, “Egypt”, based on the so-called crocodile 🐊 spine 𓆎 [I6] type, which makes the /km/ phono, but for unknown reasons?
History
In 1850A (+105), plutarch said the Egyptians called their country the ‘chemia’ (Χημίαν), named after the black soil and black part of the eye:
Egypt, moreover, which has the blackest of soils, they call by the same name as the black portion of the eye 👁️ , ‘chemia’ (Χημίαν), and compare it to a heart.”
— Plutarch (1850A/+105), Isis and Osiris (§33)
Whence, in Greek:
Chemia (Χημίαν) = Egypt, place of the black soil
In 137A (1818), Young, in his decoding of the assumed Cleopatra (Κλεοπάτρα) cartouche, assigned the 𓆎 [I6] type to the /k/ phonetic, because it aligned with the letter K of the name Κ-LEOPATRA, and the L aligned with the lion 🦁, as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/x93xkmjkwa1d1.jpg?width=1061&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e01c56d0b709d6b22e4c72463fe761591e23e59f
Young, in his Collective Works (pg. 24), of the name Αιγυπτον (Aigypton) or Egypt in Coptic as follows:
Chmi (ⲬHⲘⲒ) {kʰēmi} = Egypt
In A2 (1957), Gardiner defined the 𓆎 [I6] as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/8306wfx9cb1d1.jpg?width=1875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91a02d0aa07e8a86bdd126bd7ca4edfb6329b29f
Where:
𓆎 𓅓 𓏏 𓊖 = “kmt” {carto-phono}, meaning: country of Egypt, Africa.
Thus we have:
Langauge
1. Chemia (Χημίαν) Egypt Greek Plutarch
2. Chmi (ⲬHⲘⲒ) {kʰēmi} Egypt Coptic Young
3. Κ-λεοπάτρα (C-leopatra) Carto-phonetics Young
4. 𓆎 𓅓 𓏏 𓊖 (K-mt) Egypt? Guessed?
Wherein 𓆎 [I6] became a guessed as a morph of X (ch) + K (C), to make the /km/ phono in some blurry way?
Discussion
We also note the following, namely that the actual stone version of 𓆎 [I6] type, as Gardiner drew it, and ASCII character made, does not even look like the 10-layered or 11-layered thing, shown on the Cleopatra cartouche, which makes the /k/ phono, according to Young, i.e there are no spiked “spines” or whatever things shown:
https://preview.redd.it/ft8yjwjv0b1d1.jpg?width=1037&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02360356a40a9a723e153e332f9057f0b06db837
Now, as it has already been semi-proved that Young’s 𓂋 [D21], thing: “mouth 👄”, assignment of the / phonetic is incorrect, because:
  1. The TombUJ number tag 100 ram head 𓍢 [V1] type is the correct / phonetic, as this matches with the Greek rho (Ρ, ρ), which also is letter R
  2. The Chinese mouth symbol 口 does not make the / phonetic, but rather is a symbol for ALL phonetics,
It would therefore seem to be probable to assert that 𓆎 [I6] type does NOT make the /k/ phonetic, nor is even likely a crocodile 🐊 anything? The Egyptians, e.g., were known to mummy crocodiles 🐊, not cut them into this: 𓆎 [I6] shape? Nor does the shape shown in stone above look like crocodile scales:
https://preview.redd.it/gru3zkhaza1d1.jpg?width=1436&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8acbac256d2e124c9028f4751e959444c4128fd
In A63 (2018), Asar Imhotep, in his "The Etymology of the word Km.t 'kemet': A Critical Reexamination of the Diop-Obenga Hypothesis", talked for 15-min about how 𓆎 𓅓 𓏏 means “black land”, and NOT black people, because it has a land determinative:

Flood levels?
One thing that comes to mind is that the I6 is a symbol of the rising 150-day flood waters, as shown below, overlaid on this image:

This rising flood 💦 waters icon meaning of I6, would seem to make more sense, as the flood waters are so-called “life blood” of the Egyptian culture, as the flood waters bring the black soil from the Ethiopian mountains, which allowed for fresh nitrogen-rich soil each year, as compared to other places on the earth, wherein fertilizer or manure needs to be added to the soil, or crop rotation used.

On O49, Imhotep says:
”The N23 𓈇 is an irrigated land classifier. The N36 𓈘 is a canal. And then the O49 𓊖 determinative is the more popular one. Everyone interprets this as the ’cross-roads‘, but that is not the case, it actually just another variation of irrigated land.”

A pattern creator is scamming people sharing their amigurumi alphabet through here.
As you are reading, a pattern designer has shared today a beautiful image of amigurumi letters, until I have checked the thread that I discover how this person is selling the patterns online (when you can easily find out in a quickly search through different social media platforms that these amigurumi alphabet patterns are out there for free, the original source being Xiaohongshu) claiming is her own pattern. Please, don’t fall into these 😭🙏
Proof these patterns can be found out there for free:

Abstract
The following is derived as the formula for the Egyptian cosmos:
Verified by the value of the earth’s 🌍 circumference reported to Aristotle (2280A), by “mathematicians“, a science Aristotle says was invented in Egypt; experimentally calculated by Eratosthenes (2210A); decoded as 360 x 1111 stades by Warren (42A); EAN decoded as omicron (ομικρον) [360] x iota (ιωτα) [1111] by Thims (7 Feb A68); and HieroTypes reduced as: ◯WX = ⨂ » 𓊖 by Thims (18 May A69).

Circle-X symbol 𓊖 [O49]?
In step #17, I have merged omicron (ομικρον) [360] symbol ◯ with the chi (X) = 600 symbol, to make the circle-X (⨂) symbol 𓊖 [O49], which is in the names of many Egyptian city or nome names, e.g. Heliopolis, as follows:
In other words, I am conjecturing that the chi X is merged into or inside of the ◯ circle, to form, similar to what Plato speaks about, the Egyptian circle-X or cosmos birth symbol 𓊖 [O49].
We also note:
Where epimixia {επιμιχια} [216] meaning: “intercourse“ (Barry, A44) or “admixture”, which seems to make sense, meaning that the phoenix 🐦‍🔥 egg 🥚, formed by Ptah, had to have been made or seeded by “intercourse”, meaning the new cosmos was born from an admixture of sexual genomes 🧬, or something along these lines.

Best Travel Toys For 5 Month Old
Best Travel Toys For 5 Month Old
Exploring the world with a baby can be an exciting adventure. But, while they may not have any say in where you go and what you do, it’s important to bring along some of their favorite things too!
Choosing the right travel toys for your 5 month old is essential for ensuring that both your little one and yourselves are happy on the road. As a travel expert specializing in infant journeys, I'm here to guide you through selecting the Best Travel Toys For 5 Month Old that will keep them entertained and content during those long car or plane rides!
Rattles And Teethers
Traveling with an infant can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be! With the right travel toys for your 5-month-old baby, you can make sure that every journey is enjoyable.
Rattles and teethers are essential for any trip - they give babies something to hold, soothe them when upset, and provide hours of entertainment.
For traveling purposes, lightweight rattles are ideal - look for ones made from soft materials like cloth or silicone, as those will easily fit in a diaper bag. If possible, find options that come with different textures and shapes; this way you'll keep your little one's attention longer. Soothing sounds are also key: pick out some musical options that will help lull them into peaceful slumber while on the go.
When choosing rattles and teethers for your 5 month old baby, always consider portability and convenience over size and complexity. Traveling should never mean sacrificing comfort; by equipping yourself with the right tools you can ensure your child has all the sensory stimulation they need without having to lug around extra items along the journey. And who knows? You might even enjoy it too!
Books And Music
Now that you have chosen the rattles and teethers for your 5 month old, it is time to think about other toys they can enjoy while traveling. Books and music are great options since they both provide an educational opportunity as well as entertainment during long trips.
For books, look into interactive ones with bright colors and fun characters. These types of books will keep your baby entertained throughout the journey:
A touch-and-feel book with different textures on each page
An alphabet board book that teaches letter recognition
A pop-up book made from sturdy paper that stands up to wear and tear
Interactive music is also a great tool for keeping your infant engaged during travel. Consider these musical items:
A toy instrument like a xylophone or drum set so your little one can make their own tunes
Educational songs featuring animal noises, counting, letters, etc.
Playlists of calming classical music for naps in transit
With books and music at hand, you'll be able to create a learning environment no matter where you are! Keep in mind that safety comes first when selecting any type of toy; always double-check age recommendations before purchasing anything for your 5 month old.
Soft Toys
It won't be long before you and your 5-month old baby are packing up the car for a road trip. As an expert in infant travel, I recommend having soft toys, to keep them entertained as well as comfortable during their travels. Here's a list of some of my favorite travel toy companions:
ToyAge RangeWeightTeddy Bear Rattle0+ Months2 lbs.Cuddle & Coo Owl3+ Months.99 lbs.Soft Book0+ Months1 lbLamaze Activity Gym0+ Months4 lbs.
Soft toys are great when traveling with an infant because they provide sensory stimulation through bright colors and engaging textures. They also give babies something familiar to hold onto while exploring new sights, sounds, and smells on the open road. Plus, they're small enough to fit into diaper bags or backpacks without taking up too much space! When it comes time to say goodbye to home comforts, these beloved friends can serve as a reminder that no matter how far away from home we may go, there will always be something along for the ride that is sure to make us feel loved and secure - even if it’s only just a little plush bear rattle!
Activity Mats
Traveling with a 5-month old can be both exciting and daunting. To make it easier, having the right travel toys is essential.
Activity mats are perfect for keeping your baby entertained during long trips. They’re lightweight, foldable, and easily stored away when not in use. Plus they come in many different designs that promote imaginative play and sensory exploration through tactile materials.
Activity mats provide endless hours of fun at home or on the go because they’re made from durable yet soft baby-safe materials like cotton and foam which makes them travel-friendly too! Your little one will love exploring all the textures and colors of the mat while developing motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination. They’ll also love getting lost in their own world of pretend play using various shapes, patterns, and objects found on the activity mat!
Your 5 month old deserves to enjoy every journey with you just as much as you do! With an activity mat, they won’t only have something entertaining to play with but something that promotes learning too – making it a win-win situation for everyone involved!
So why wait? Get creative with your travels by investing in some portable toys that your baby can cherish no matter where life takes them.
Stacking Blocks And Puzzles
Ah, the joys of traveling with an infant! Nothing quite compares to it. It's a special time - and one that can be made even more enjoyable when you have the right travel toys for your 5-month old little one.
Here are some ideas that just might make life on the go a bit easier:
Stacking blocks and puzzles: These are great for helping babies develop their fine motor skills while learning about colors, shapes, numbers, letters and other concepts. Not only do they provide hours of fun but also help create strong cognitive connections in young minds.
Building Blocks: This is another favorite among five month olds because they allow them to experiment with gravity as well as discover new ways to build structures by connecting pieces together. Plus, building blocks come in all sorts of colors and shapes which helps stimulate tactile senses as well sensory development too.
Sensory Toys: Finally, consider investing in a few sensory toys (rattles, teethers, or stuffed animals) that will help engage the baby’s sense of hearing, touch, and sight while on the move. Just make sure they aren't too noisy so as not to disturb other travelers!
Traveling with an infant doesn't need to be stressful – especially if you plan ahead and pick up a couple of age-appropriate items like stacking blocks or puzzles before heading out on your journey.
With these simple tips in mind, you'll be able to enjoy yourselves during those long days spent away from home without breaking the bank either!
Push And Pull Toys
When it comes to traveling with a 5-month old, push-and-pull toys can provide an invaluable source of entertainment.
From bouncy seats to travel strollers, these items are guaranteed to keep your little one engaged during even the longest trips.
If you're searching for something that's easy to transport and set up quickly, a bouncy seat is ideal. Its lightweight design makes it simple to move from place to place without taking up too much space. Plus, its soft material is comfortable enough for prolonged periods of use.
Travel strollers offer more stability than traditional ones due to their durable frames and tight turns capabilities. The ergonomic handlebars make them particularly convenient when navigating busy streets or tight corners in airports. Furthermore, they contain ample storage compartments so parents can easily store all the essentials while on the go – like snacks, extra clothes, and diapers!
All in all, push and pull toys are must-haves for any parent looking for a stress-free experience when travelling with young babies.
Activity Centers
When it comes to travel toys for a 5 month old, activity centers offer a great range of educational benefits.
Not only can they help promote cognitive development, but they also provide a stimulating environment to help your little one practice their motor skills.
Before you buy an activity center, it's important to ensure you're following all safety guidelines to ensure the safety of your baby.
Educational Benefits
When it comes to educational benefits, activity centers are a great way for 5 month olds to learn and develop new skills! They're designed with language development and motor skill growth in mind.
Plus, the bright colors and fun sounds provide plenty of stimulation for their growing minds. And when you're traveling, these all-in-one toys can be easily packed away or even attached to the stroller so your little one has access to them wherever they go.
With an activity center, you can rest assured that your child's learning process is not put on pause during your travels - allowing them to continue to grow and have fun along the journey! So why wait? Invest in an activity center today for your 5-month-old traveler – because nothing beats being able to take education on the road.
Motor Skill Development
As a dedicated travel expert and consultant for baby/infant travels, I know how important it is to help your little one grow even while on the go.
Motor skill development can be achieved in many different ways with an activity center! Playing with buttons, pulling strings, pushing levers, or turning knobs - they're all great ways to enhance their motor skills.
Plus, these activities will also encourage socializing as you talk about what each part does.
What's more? These toys are designed so that they can easily transition from playtime to bathtime without any fuss.
So don't wait - get an activity center today and watch your child learn new skills wherever the road takes them!
Safety Guidelines
When traveling with an infant or toddler, it's important to consider safety guidelines. This is especially true when using activity centers!
Make sure that the center has a secure base and won't move once placed on any surface. Additionally, avoid leaving your little one unattended for long periods of time - even if they are sitting in their activity center.
Babysitting tips such as having another adult present can help you enjoy some well-deserved freedom while still keeping your child safe. Don't forget: use common sense and make sure all parts are age appropriate before letting them play!
With these simple rules, there's no reason why both parents and children alike shouldn't be able to travel safely while enjoying the benefits of an activity center.
Baby Gyms
The activity centers are great for keeping your 5 month old occupied at home, but when it comes to travel safety and entertainment on the airplane, baby gyms have you covered.
Baby gyms come in different shapes and sizes that easily fold away so they can fit into your carry-on luggage with no problem. Many of them even come equipped with a mirror, hanging toys, and activities designed specifically to stimulate developing minds.
Baby gyms provide ample opportunities for exploration during flights, as well as being safe enough to use in confined spaces like an airplane cabin or hotel room. You don't need to worry about loose parts or small pieces getting lost; most models incorporate all the elements into one interactive unit.
Traveling parents will also appreciate that the setup is quick and easy – just unroll it from its compact carrying case and pop out the connecting rods - so there's plenty of time left over for exploring new places!
These versatile items make long journeys more enjoyable by providing endless hours of fun without taking up too much space in your travel bag. Plus, given their unique designs, your 5 month old won't be able to resist discovering what lies inside these colorful play areas!
Playpens
As a travel expert specializing in baby/infant travel, I recommend playpens as one of the best options for keeping your 5 month old safe and entertained during trips. Playpens offer convenience and portability, allowing you to keep an eye on your little one wherever you go. Plus, they can make any unfamiliar environment more secure and comfortable for babies.
Here are some tips when choosing the right playpen:
Look for models with adjustable heights so that it can grow with your child’s needs.
Select lightweight designs that fold easily and come with carrying cases or straps for extra mobility.
Choose materials that are easy to clean and transport without taking away from comfort.
Make sure the playpen meets safety standards like ASTM International Standards before purchasing.
When traveling with your infant, it's important to have a secure place where you can set them down safely while still having access to their belongings such as toys or diapers. Playpens provide peace of mind by giving parents control over their child’s surroundings without sacrificing freedom or spontaneity of movement during holidays or excursions abroad.
The key is finding a balance between practicality, portability, and kid-friendly features—playpens provide just that!
Stuffed Animals
Stuffed animals may seem like a classic, but often overlooked option when it comes to travel toys for 5-month-olds. But don't be fooled: they can provide just as much comfort and entertainment on the road as all those other fancy gadgets.
Portable cuddles and soft sensory stimulation are what make these playthings so great – not to mention that there's something special about loving a stuffed animal from infancy through adulthood.
One of the best things about travel toys in this category is their size. Tiny teddy bears, bunnies, and dinosaurs fit easily into carry-on bags (or even pockets) without taking up too much space or adding extra weight.
These small wonders also come at an affordable price point, allowing parents to stock up on multiple items without breaking the bank. Plus, since most babies love snuggling with something soft, it's easy to find one that suits your little one's individual preferences.
You can have some fun playing around with different textures when you select your baby's new companion. Experimenting with fabrics like plush fur and corduroy gives them plenty of tactile exploration opportunities while providing comforting companionship whenever needed during your travels together.
So go ahead and give the tried-and-true stuffed animal a chance: odds are it'll become your infant's favorite toy in no time!

This about 15,000 years before the Egyptians of Hermopolis made 𓐁 [Z15G], i.e. numeral eight 8️⃣, be part of their city 🌆 name. This is not saying that the Ishango people “invented“ hieroglyphs, only that the Ishango bone evidences an a pre-hiero form of writing, in the form counting or early math of some sort.
Cuneiform?
There's no relation between cuneiform and hieroglyphs
The following is the original A63 (2018) diagram by Brandon Pilcher:
https://preview.redd.it/12rf3fgrj91d1.jpg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2acbb1530d5d58c2bbd8070d0780948e4d5fffe2
There is, as Pilcher alludes, some seeming mutual influence between the Egyptians and the Sumerians, e.g. that both the Egyptian air god Shu 𓀠 [A28] and the Sumerian air god Enlil 𒀭𒂗𒆤 are associated with the hoe 𓌸 [U6] as the tool used either as the first tool put into the hands of the first man created, in the Hermopolis version, or to split heaven from earth, in the Sumerian “Song of the Hoe“ version.
Greek scripts
The Greek script comes from Phoenician and the Greeks themselves tell us as much
Yes both Herodotus and Plutarch talk about Phoenician or Cadmus the “Phoenician” origin of the letters; this is the simplified model:
https://preview.redd.it/6rbgqsrnl91d1.jpg?width=1159&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2266f47e09cbb05e0b10bedca38b326e88d5c3b9
The myth of Cadmus, aka 𓋹-ADM-𓉽𓆙 or 𓋹-ADaM-𓉽𓆙 (in Biblical terms) now, however, has been decoded, e.g. here, here, etc. as a cipher for the Egyptian hoe-sow-reap alphabet cosmology model, shown below:
https://preview.redd.it/jco1ugy8m91d1.jpg?width=1154&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcd99725ad1372b87214016b8a531df5e9835d03
Proto-Sinaitic script
Users here, in short, defend the illiterate Sinai Jewish miner theory origin of Phoenician, aka ShemLand model, shown below:
https://preview.redd.it/x8a2wp4wd91d1.jpg?width=1174&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53ced6d75ff5c96e700e5a43b8f98e96757469a9
The originally cited “throwing stick“ G, cited by Robert Eisler (32A/1923), was “nothing but a forked branch broken from a tree and used as a weapon”.
https://preview.redd.it/2pt0jzlre91d1.jpg?width=1389&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d2814618098d3f4b9f214ff9fee4c58409454ae
Yeah 👍 [NO]; this makes little sense? The alphabet inventors had 11,050+ HieroTypes at their disposal to make the 3rd alphabet letter, and instead they just said “nay, let’s just use this broken tree branch I just found for letter three!”
These illiterate Jewish miners, according to the Gardiner-Goldwasser model, “looked at” the 11,050+ HieroTypes, and therefrom randomly picked two dozen characters to scratch on a cave wall, to make ox-house-stick 𓃾 𓉐 𓌙 [F1, O1, T14], instead of hoe-stars-earth 𓌹 𓇯 𓅬 [U6, N1, G38] origin, be the origin of ABG (𐤂𐤁𐤀).
South Semitic scripts
No mention of any of the South Semitic scripts
The new term is “South type 22 lunar scripts“, instead of the ShemLand loaded term “South Semitic scripts”, as there is no place “south” of where Shem was born, because Shem never existed.
The following is a Sabaean inscription (2700A/-645) addressed to the god Almaqah, mentioning five ancient Yemeni gods, two reigning sovereigns and two governors:

We sill have to study these, as many of these seem to be Egyptian LunarScript like, e.g. letters: Y, pho (Φ), Π, O, B, R, N, X?
Nice comment made by user D[16]Y here!
Other
Today I messaged the mods of the Kemitic sub:
Maybe you should clarify your sub description box: “place for those interested in the “history of Ancient Egyptians”, so to avoid this type of confusion in the future.
The mods of the Kemitic sub replied (18 May A69) as follows:
If you'd read the rules, and other context clues, that should have told you this place is for topics relevant to the modern practice of the religion, and that some exceptions are considered off-topic. Most other people understand this just fine. I'm not putting on my paralegal hat to rewrite the sidebar for the sake of a single lost Redditor posting a fringe linguistic theory in a religious sub.
But I'll tell you what. Post the same over to AncientEgyptian. If the mods over there agree with you, or think there's any merit to what you're asserting whatsoever, we'll ignore the pseudohistory report we received, and reinstate it. Otherwise, it stays down under rule 5, which is an important exception we make to prevent free-for-all BS claims from flooding the discussion
My post was reported as “pseudo-history”, that is funny!
Regarding, “Post the same over to AncientEgyptian. If the mods over there agree with you, or think there's any merit to what you're asserting whatsoever”, we will note that was perm-banned, a month ago (14 Apr A69/2024), from that sub, in two-hours, for cross-post the following image:
https://preview.redd.it/n73t0nxhfa1d1.jpg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c223320e13d194f5f5bfee866b4489fd90b9d61
Secondly, we might also note the irony that I have to ask permission at the AncientEgyptian sub to post an “evolution of language (from Egyptian)” diagram, when I am already the mod of egyptianlanguage?
In any event, both subs, as we see, are in unified agreement that there are NO connections between Greek and Egyptian, and to even suggest so will get you banned (or post-removed)!
I replied to the Kemetic mod:
I didn’t reply to have the post “re-instated”, it was just a friendly suggestion to try to make your sub description box more clear, for others, in the future, who may be mis-led about what you sub is about, like I was. Have a nice day!
But whatever? Like I said, they should remove “place for those interested in the “history of Ancient Egyptians”, if they are going to ban posts on the “history of ancient Egyptian language“?
Kemet
The name Kemet, to clarify, derives from CartoPhonetics:
https://preview.redd.it/g7v6whlbja1d1.jpg?width=1686&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=941caec5ea6bcd86dcae3a571f6e3a1b7b6c5b26
Where:
  • 𓆎 [I6], thing: “crocodile scales”, meaning: /km/ [?]
  • 𓅓 [G17], thing: “owl 🦉”, carto-phono: /m/
  • 𓏏 [X1], thing: “bread 🍞”, carto-phono: /t/
  • 𓊖 [O49], meaning: city 🌆 or cosmos birth location
Whence:
/km/ + /m/ + /t/ = Kemet
Meaning, supposedly, “Egypt”, based on the following gardiner definition of the so-called crocodile 🐊 spine 𓆎 [I6] type, which makes the /km/ phono, but for unknown [?] reasons:
https://preview.redd.it/h275w45fka1d1.jpg?width=1875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d79929268248756d2eeae6d47b9a7765ca302920
More on this here:
  • Type: 𓆎 [I6], thing: crocodile 🐊 spine; carto-phono: /km/; meaning: [?]; significance: root type of 𓆎 + 𓅓 + 𓏏 + 𓊖 or /km/ + /m/ + /t/ = Kemet, the original name of Egypt?
Thus, here we are trying to help the “Kemetic” people get their phonetics straight, and they ban EAN?
But, whatever. I understand. Their sub is for ex-Christians, as I gather, who are trying to find their “African roots”, in the form of setting up worship displays of the Egyptian gods and HieroTypes.
They are just happy to even see the word “Kemet” instead of say “Egypt”, which they believe is a Western term, and hence not “pure Egyptian”, or something?
The only ironic part here is that the Kemetic sub seems to be the only Reddit sub who makes an effort to “speak like the Egyptians“, albeit using the Young-Champollion CartoPhonetics theory.

[9 YOE] Mid-Career Environmental Consultant's Resume - I've gone 10/10 for interviews this past year.
This has been my general resume format since 2015, and it's worked really well for me over years. Outside of my first job hunt, which admittedly was a bit of a challenge, I've never had significant difficulties finding new employment.
On my most recent job hunt back in spring 2023, I went 6-for-6 with this resume. Every single place I applied to I got an interview at. Even still, while I am quite comfortable with my current employeer, I still get requests from recruiters to chat and send resumes over - and every single recruiter I've sent a resume to wants to set up an interview.
Format-wise, I kept it as simple as possible, no fancy styles, colors, or anything like that. I know there's a lot of back-and-forth on whether or not a summary is good/bad, but I prefer to use one. Even keeping my resume at 1 page, I think having a summary saves time for those who don't want to take 3 minutes and read the whole thing. Just by reading the summary, I think the reader can gain a good understanding of who I am and what I can do.
Second to this, which I didn't post, I have about a 4 page long Experience Summary document, which sums up all the major projects I've managed or played a major role on. Instead of a cover letter, which is pretty useless, I submit the Experience Summary instead. It's much more geared towards technical reviewers, not HR or any non-technical folks, because it is a bit "weedy".

2024.05.18 23:25 plucky_wood Learning Levantine/MSA together?

Would love some advice please. I'm a very recent beginner to learning arabic - basically I've done the basics on duolingo, so I can recognise all the letters of the alphabet and sound out words, and know a few phrases. I'm moving on from duolingo now and planning out the next steps of study.
My girlfriend is Syrian, so a big reason I'm learning is to be able to talk to her friends and family (and understand what the hell they're saying). And because of that, I also have a whole group of people I can practice speaking Levantine Arabic with. So that's obviously a good reason to study Levantine arabic.
But I also love reading and writing, and I'd love to be able to read e.g. arabic news or books in the original language. And from what I understand, almost all literature and media is written in MSA - so in order to be able to read that effectively, I'd really need to study MSA, right?
So would it be crazy to try to study these together? Maybe get a textbook or course on MSA to practice reading and writing, and practice speaking and listening Levantine with my girlfriend? Should I just focus on Levantine and only look for resources about Levantine? Or should I focus on MSA first?
Any thoughts appreciated!
