2014.08.02 00:40 ShakzyO PLAYER PREVIEW: Arjen Robben, Winger, #10

Reds | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Former Clubs: Playstyle, Strengths & Weaknesses: The Robben - our all favorite goal initiator. Zidane had his roulette, Ronaldinho the Elastico, Effe had his
finger and Robben's trademark, as everyone knows, is cutting inside with his left foot.
He's a master of close ball control, quick changes of direction, one-two passes, cutting inside and beating pretty much everyone not only with bursts of speed but with very fast sprints aswell. If he pushes forward, he knows exactly what he wants do to, he's determined to accomplish his plan - the sheer will to produce goals.
Originally playing on the left wing, Juande Ramos shoved him over to the right which would eventually become his main position. Sometimes playing for us on the left wing during random swaps with Ribery ingame aswell as starting there when Franck was injured. Most recently he showed some striker qualities when starting on the very top of the lineup im Pokalfinale 2013/14 vs. Dortmund and in the World Cup alongside van Persie.
Strenghts: - Dribbling
- Crossing
- Longshots
- Set pieces
- Quick one-two passing
- Off the ball movement
- Pace
Weaknesses: - Known to be a diver
- Defensive contribution (unless important game)
- Right foot
- Injury prone (got somewhat fixed by Müller-Wohlfahrt)
Enough raw information. On August, 29th in 2009, Robben joined us in a last minute Blitztransfer in response to our worst Bundesliga start in history. Just 1 day later, for the first time since
Makaay had left the club, we had a number 10 on the pitch.
Robben getting subbed in for Altintop in the second half of a Bundesliga game against reigning Champions Wolfsburg would be the first step of our long journey to become one of Europes biggest forces.
Robben contributed greatly to our success of the 2009/10 season. Scoring 16 goals in 24 games, while assisting another 7 in the Bundesliga, he's also responsible for creating moments that most of us can still remember like it happened yesterday.
- Tuesday, 09.03.2010, Champions League Round of 16, Stadio Artemio Franchi, ACF Fiorentina, 65. Minute
- Wednesday, 24.03.2010, DFB Pokal Semifinal, Veltins-Arena, FC Schalke 04, 112. Minute
- Wednesday, 07.04.2010, Champions League Quarterfinal, Old Trafford, Manchester United, 74. Minute
- Wednesday, 21.04.2010, Champions League Semifinal, Allianz Arena, Olympique Lyon, 69. Minute
The following 2010/11 season would start on the first January of 2011 for him, after being injured for 151 days as the result of a torn muscle. Not much to say about the season as a whole, losing the BuLi title to Dortmund, losing the semifinal of the DFB Pokal to eventual winner Schalke & the very, very frustrating lose to Inter Milan in the Ro16 of the Championsleague. Robben finished the season with 13 goals & 13 assists and his first and only straight red (for insulting the referee after the final whistle had been blown) for us (2nd in total) in 18 games across all competitions.
In OUR season, birthplace of a memory that millions across the entire world will share with their grandchildren at some point in the far future, Robben was once again fighting injuries more than anything else. Due to muscle, back & calveproblems, he spent 94 days injured. After Kroos' injury, Arjen came back right in time for the big games of our CL campaign. Scoring in both semis against Barce70na + scoring 1 and assisting 1 for
Mandzu in Wembley, claiming UEFAs MOTM for the final while simultaneously breaking the hearts of every Dortmund fan would lead up to yet again 13 goals & 13 assists, in 13 games more than 2010/11.
Robben evolved as a player in the past few years. He still has his selfish moments once or twice each game, but that's ok - that's what defines him. Ever since
Jupp took over the lead, the person Arjen Robben became less and less important. Bayern started to work like a well oiled machine, Robbery started overlapping, constantly moving around the pitch, effectively threatening the entire attacking third. Even after Jupp was gone, when people already wrote him off, he would prove that - despite being called predictable & one dimensional - that he could adapt to a new system. Eventually, Robben would internalize Peps philosophy better than the rest of our squad (apart from
Thiago of course, who learned this style of football since he was 14)
While Arjen brought us a lot of joy & pleasure, the
not so good moments are part of our history aswell.
Choking Müller, the
Lahm incident in training, the dressingroom fight over a freekick with
Ribery. And of course the missed penalties against Dortmund & the other game (can't remember) resulting in some "fans" booing him in the Bayern - Netherlands game.
What to expect in the future? The 2013/14 season was arguably Arjens best one so far. Almost injury free (The deep cut that resulted in a 6 week break doesn't really count imo, everyone would've suffered the exact same thing from a
tackle like this), giving 100% in every game, besides Kroos the only really consistent player & surely our best player of the entire season. Now, after his amazing World Cup performances, I think it's presumably that he's never been better. He's still hungry for more titles, especially international ones - so unless he gets plagued by injuries again, I don't see him declining until EC 2016 (which could very well be his last big tournament for the Netherlands.)
Some random facts: - After his injury in 2010, the Robben Ball Meme became famous.
- Favourite food & drink: Sushi & Cola Light
- First replica kit that he owned was one from Romario.
- He writes books for children.
- 3 of his 4 hattricks for us where on homesoil (vs. Hannover, Hamburg & Schalke).
- His agent is his father, Hans Robben
The Dortmund Killer - Wednesday, 27.02.2013, DFB Pokal Quarterfinal, Allianz Arena, Borussia Dortmund, 43. Minute
- Saturday, 25.05.2013, Champions League Final, Wembley Stadium, Borussia Dortmund, 89. Minute
- Saturday, 23.11.2013, Bundesliga, Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund, 86. Minute
- Saturday, 17.05.2014, DFB Pokalfinale, Olympiastadion, Borussia Dortmund, 107. Minute
Arjen Robben, Story of a Champion Ich hab geträumt von dir.. Really good video in a documentary style that covers everything from 2002 up until 2014. Blocked in germany, use a
YouTube Unblocker instead.
Talking points: - Robben isn't the youngest anymore and heavily relies on his pace. How much time/how many seasons has he left?
- Triple R, Team Rocket - Ribery/Robert/Robben - What to expect
- Could it have a negative effect on Robben that Germany won the World Cup?
- Robben/Lahm vs. Robben/Rafinha and a possible Robben/Rode synergy and differences.

2014.03.29 09:04 ShitArchonXPR "Blocked this from your country on copyright grounds." Anyone who can figure out how to rip or listen to the YouTube audio is a god.
Similar to
lrtrimmer's question.

By: KMetalPT
I want to hear this remix again so very badly. Does anyone know how to rip the Youtube audio so the rest of us can enjoy it?
I tried using TubeChop and music-clips.net. Youtube-to-mp3 converters don't work for blocked videos, apparently.
I went to Youtube settings and set my language to Korean, as recommended on a Digitalzone forum thread.
I tried using the Stealthy proxy extension for my Chrome browser. It didn't work with either a South Korean, Brazilian, or Spanish IP (KMetalPT's native language is Portuguese, I suspect the country is Portugal, Stealthy doesn't have a Portuguese proxy).
YouTube Unblocker also doesn't work. It just says
"YouTube Unblocker: Da ist was schief gelaufen... :(
Wahrscheinlich ist das Video weltweit gesperrt."
unblockyoutube.co.uk still gives "UMG has blocked this from your country on copyright grounds."
Please help me, reddit. You're my only hope.

2012.06.22 20:01 di_L3r Gaming is art: A Guild Wars 2 Time-lapse Video "A weekend in Tyria" (4:16)
Hi guys, I made a small Guild Wars 2 video about a week ago. Worked about 60-70h on it. All footage is from the recent beta weekend event (BWE2). Posted it on
/Guildwars2 but thought it might be interesting for gamers in general.
Vimeo link:
A weekend in Tyria (should work from everywhere)
Youtube link:
A weekend in Tyria (blocked in American Samoa, Canada, Germany, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands, United States Virgin Islands)
(you can watch it with
unblockyoutube though)
And if everything else fails:
Putlocker Stream Let me know what you think. If you have any ideas, criticism, or any kind of feedback feel free to write a comment.

2012.06.16 18:25 di_L3r Guild Wars 2 time-lapse video of BWE2 "A weekend in Tyria"
On the last BWE I spend all my time on taking screenshots. Lots of them. The idea was to make a time-lapse video. Long story short, here it is:
"A weekend in Tyria"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JSviUveSXE
Alternative links: Vimeo, Putlocker
(if blocked, copy and paste the url into this site and you are good to go)
edit
Apparently it is now blocked in canada, usa, etc. but not in Germany....interesting. It works with unblockyoutube.co.uk though
"No audio version" if you don't want to use youtubeunblock (kind of lame withough music though :P) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HNDujhL9iU
edit 2
Can someone who can't watch the video tell me if it's possible to watch this one? Yosemite HD. It uses the same song and if that works you could just watch it with Youtubedoubler to see my video with the right music.
For my fellow Germans, if this video gets censored on youtube, I could upload it somewhere else. I just don't know where yet. You should be able to watch it with sites like unblockyoutube.co.uk
Maybe vimeo.com will allow it...hm...
Anyway, if you have any questions about the video, feel free to leave a comment. I ran into a lot of problems and don't want others who want to do a time-lapse video to suffer the same fate. There are a few tips and tricks to get better results. Because of that I thought about doing a tutorial video. Just have to figure out a good way to do it (first tests turned out....bad).
So if you are interested in a tutorial, please leave a comment on what you are interested in.
One more thing: Except a few high definition screenshots, all screenshots are 1920x1200 (high definition screenshots are 7680x4800). If you want a screenshot of something you saw on this video, just ask and I will upload it for you. Maybe I can even make a imgur album or something. (just don't want to upload all ~33.000, so it would make sense to see what people actually want)
I couldn't use everything I recorded (~20 min), so I thought I use other shots for the tutorial, or upload them separately?! (might not be good enough for that)
And also outtakes...thanks to all the people who did something funny while I was recording or lay down with me (don't play an attractive female character...I tell you...). I learned quite a lot of the game and how it works, saw interesting things, weird buggy things and had a great time overall. It bugged me at first to not be able to play, but I enjoyed every single minute. :)
