2024.05.19 18:30 Tasiam I tried to make sense of a nonesense book

The Other Eye of the Serpent:
In which the heresiarch Cygnifer attempts to resolve certain mysteries of Lightning.
Cygnifer considers Lightning to be 'the division, the connection, the joined serpent. The Serpent's Eye is said to be the Sun - but as the division and connection, it must have a second Eye.
Cygnifer considers and rejects, three times, the hypothesis that the Moon is the Serpent's other eye, insisting that it and the Sun do not share a nature. (This, as much as the Serpent business, is what got him burnt by the Church.) He proposes that the Serpent's teeth are towers, that the Serpent's mouth is a gate, that the Serpent is the 'devourer of Ys'... and 'therefore' that the Serpent's other eye is amber.
There is only one Hour that is refered to as Amber: The Watchman. He is Amber due to his triple origin: Part remains of the Egg Unhatching, part the Unwise Mortal and part Light of Glory.
This eye business may refer to who is the Sun in The House of the Sun. In the times of the Gods-from-Stone the sun was Red and Low, who is most likely the Egg Unhatching. The Chiliarch's Victory':
The environment is a chilly desert beneath a low red sun. On closer inspection, the brighter patches seem to be golden blood, seeping from vast wounds.
Then the Sun was the Sun-in-Splendour. But since its Division The Watchman is the Sun, Lifting Fifth Eye Curse:
When the sun was always red and low, we needed all our eyes. Now, Glory enters mercilessly if we open them unwisely.'
Also if you look at the Sun during a sunny day you will notice it has the Watchman's eye. Mystery solved, the book makes sense. Leave now if you want.
I am not reponsible if the next part gives a fascination. Also you need to already have 2 to understand it.
What the hell is the Joined Serpent?
Let's think, who are the Serpents in the Lore and how are they tied to Light?
Worms: The Serpents which are not Serpents. Very unlikely, Lantern can be used to avoid their curse and they are not Serpents. In addition Worms are numerous while there is one Joined Serpent.
Great Hooded Princes: Unlikely given that they Worship the Key-Serpent, the Crossroads-Twins and the Mirror-Queen, (Twin Serpent Tantra). And again they are numerous, not one.
Seven-Coils: The Hour is dead, it has been dead long before the Watchman rose. I don't think it's him. And he has no known connection to Light.
Mother-of-Ants: She is not a Serpent, she is the Older Sister but not a Serpent herself. She also lacks connection to Light.
That's it then? The mystery goes on. No, because here is when I pull the rug. There is one more Hour, one who has the symbol of a Joined Serpent, one who has ties with Ys and one who has a connection with light, and that is pretty much all we know about them. That is Hour XXI, The Giribrago.
Joined Serpet: His Tatot Card has a snake eating its tail, often called Ouroboros.
Caer Ys: The Giribrago sponsors the Rose endings in Book of Hours. This endings are about building the City Unbuilt (Refuge from Eternity) in Ys.
Light: The Weather Factory description of The Giribrago is: "He contains; he brings gifts; he does not destroy. He bursts forth from the mountain. He is the Shard, the Leak, the Remnant, the Wound, the Diamond." Alongside it a photo of Jabal al-Nour, a well-known real-world mountain whose Arabic name means "Mountain of the Light". And he had the unofficial name "The Second Egg".
He bursts forth from the mountain.
This is a curious one because there is a type of Lightning that goes Ground-to-Cloud.
So what does it mean? Currently not much, I think. The best I can come up with is that: If The Giribrago is the Devour of Ys, but he also "contains and does not destroy", does it mean it's the guardian Hour of Ys? Hours in general do not like Ys, the city is a threat to them. They would have eliminated it unless it was protected.
Perhaps there is lore that can provide more info but I couldn't find many mentions of lightning. The best I could find was a text that connects mountains lightning and the Division, The Vinzant Inscriptions:
Everett Vinzant transcribed these from a cliff in Anatolia, where he famously survived a lightning-strike. He died seven years later to the day. His bones, the legend has it, were hot to the touch.
Long ago, the Sisterhood of the Knot recounted, the Forge loved the Hour called the Sun-in-Splendour. The Red Grail long anticipated their union, and the Grail-priestesses prophesied it...
The remainder of the text consists of gloating remarks by the Grail-priestesses of the Shaping that will come, interpolated with warnings and laments from those of the Sisterhood who serve the Ring-Yew and especially the Horned Axe. Nevertheless, an invocation to the Forge is included as part of an attempt to urge it onwards.
So a mystery is solved and another is open. In the future we should look for mentions of joined serpents/Ouroboros, and lightning.

QGIS in VSCode: Unable to find the qgis module. Missing from site packages
Hello Everyone,
I am an intermediate self-taught GIS programmer that usually works with arcpy to write scripts for work. I am wanting to start doing more projects on my spare time outside of work and I want to learn QGIS to kind of get me more familiar with different GIS softwares (I have the Pro $100 subscription as well).
I am wanting to run QGIS scripts in VS Code and have gone through a tutorial that basically gets me set up (no real need to watch the video. Just FYI. QGIS VSCode Link
Here is my problem:
The problem is when I run the python environment associated with QGIS, it says:
from qgis.core import QgsApplication # Supply path to qgis install location default path = QgsApplication.setPrefixPath("C:\\Program Files\\QGIS 3.28.3\\apps\\Python39", True) # second argument to False disables the GUI. qgs = QgsApplication([], False) # Load providers qgs.initQgis() # Write your code here to load some layers, use processing # algorithms, etc. # Finally, exitQgis() is called to remove the # provider and layer registries from memory qgs.exitQgis()
PS C:\Users\me\PythonProjects\KAT> & "C:/Program Files/QGIS 3.28.3/apps/Python39/python3.exe" c:/Users/me/PythonProjects/KAT/mapper.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "c:\Users\me\PythonProjects\KAT\mapper.py", line 1, in
from qgis import QgsApplication
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'qgis'
I look in the site packages for the qgis module, and I see that it is missing (photo below)
Missing Module
I am not understanding why the qgis module is missing. Is there another folder it is located in? Do I need to install it? I am figuring this is why I cannot find the module since it is looking in this folder and cannot find it.
Here are the docs. It LOOKS like it should come with QGIS upon download.
The location of my env is at
C:\\Program Files\\QGIS 3.28.3\\apps\\Python39

Thanks in advance!

2024.05.19 18:02 Coherently-Rambling Ranking the Post-Joe episodes from worst to best

This is my ranking of every Impractical Jokers episode starting when Joe left. I was going to wait until season 10 was over to post this, but I’m just gonna post it now, as I have no idea if season 10 is done or still going.
I’ll be referring to the episodes by their celebrity guests, but that’s only because that’s how IJ names their episodes. I’ll be judging the episodes as a whole, not just the guest.
I’m only doing mainline episodes, meaning no “sideline smacktalk” or shark week special.
25. Bobby Moinahan
In general, I like challenges where the Jokers have to convince a mark to go along with what they’re doing, but making it so both challenges had that goal made this episode monotonous. The telethon challenge was particularly disappointing, as I think there was a ton of potential to make the marks do a bunch of wacky things, but it wound up being “insult the customer” over and over.
The punishment also felt disjointed. Murr having to annoy and creep out wedding dress buyers was pretty standard, but making him eat his wedding band and then wear a wedding dress to the airport seemed really tacked on.
24. Jillian Bell
The “you’re fired” challenge was a swing and a miss. Not only is it not fun to watch the Jokers just act like jerks of their own volition, but the ruleset is backwards because it requires you to be a jerk and then you’ll lose if you do too good a job. I think this game could be easily fixed if they made the first half be a standard “refuse you lose” and then fire the mark and beg for your job.
The “one more minute” skit was pretty cringey (this is coming from someone who likes the skits more than the average IJ fan) and I much preferred the deleted skit shown on “Filming with the stars”
The punishment was really underwhelming.
The one saving grace was the “Boot and Rally” challenge, which isn’t one I’d want to see again, but was still entertaining because of how over the top it was, and because of how self aware they were that it’s not a good challenge.
23. David Cross
They basically copied and pasted one of the Rob Riggle skits for this episode. Even though the skits are the least important part of the show, it’s still kind of upsetting to see them get recycled.
The challenges were fairly average, with the exception of Max Zoda dragging down Sal’s turn.
I did like the punishment. The post-Joe episodes have been pretty dependent on physically painful punishments, but this one was pretty creative both in using various methods to torture Murr, and in doing it in a context where it seems acceptable.
22. Adam Pally and Jon Gabrus
The babysitting challenge was solid, and I like the choice to play beer pong with the guests instead of doing a skit. In fact, I think it would’ve been better to consistently show authentic interactions with the guests instead of skits. They could even make it a callback to the walking bits from season 1.
Sal’s shock punishment was also pretty entertaining. Although it is watered down by the abundance of physical punishments in this era of the show.
21. Paul Scheer
The two challenges were solid, but the punishment was pretty underwhelming. The overall idea is pretty funny after it’s explained, but the entertainment value dissipates after the first couple rounds.
20. Colin Jost
The ice cream challenge was an improvement over the “you’re fired” challenge from last episode. While it still involved the vague command of “act like a jerk”, they now made the mark a witness instead of a victim, and the Jokers were actually rewarded instead of punished for fulfilling that command.
This episode also opted to show a real interaction with its guest instead of a skit, which again, is a decision I like.
The love guru’s challenge was solid, with the best part being when the guy claimed to know about the relationship expert Murr and Sal made up.
The punishment was entertaining, but again, kind of diluted by how many physical punishments there have been recently.
19. Eric André Returns
Fairly underwhelming as an episode, but never to the point that I wasn’t enjoying it. The best part was Sal talking about his exploding wife.
18. Harvey Guillen
The lawyer challenge was alright. The best part was Q’s “potato chip or two” line, which highlighted the absurdity of how convoluted the contracts were
Having a challenge where each turn was at a different location was an interesting idea, but ultimately didn’t have much impact.
Q’s punishment was kind of underwhelming. When it started with him getting prosthetics, I was expecting him to look radically different and for it to be crucial to the punishment, so I was disappointed when Q was fairly recognizable and it wasn’t necessary for what he had to do. Though the punishment itself was still fun due to the energy Harvey gave it. Plus it had a surprisingly light hearted ending.
17. Paula Abdul
Most of the episode was middling. I was disappointed because I was expecting Paula to have a great dynamic with the Jokers due to them making a movie together, yet she wound up blending in as a guest.
The high point of the episode was the “get my wallet challenge”. I loved the twist of having Cha throw Q out instead of Dan, and I especially loved Q sabotaging Sal by giving him his wallet before the mark could get it. It was oddly nostalgic, as it was the kind of thing Joe would do.
16. Kesha
I really don’t like that they repeated Sal’s shock punishment, the seance setting made it just barely different enough to justify doing again.
However, the “fall in love” challenge was pretty fun, and the debate challenge with MJF was great. I’d love for him to work with the Jokers again.
15. Michael Ian Black
I liked the return of the texting challenge, and Murr chasing the greased up boy was ridiculous (in a good way).
The punishment was fairly standard, but Michael did a great job acting as the straight-man and adding to Sal’s embarrassment.
14. Kim Fields
Murr’s “fuck marry kill” conversation, Q’s mistletoe, and Q eating the dog treats were all fun moments. The punishment felt pretty old school (in a good way) and while Q calling a woman’s bitch briefly dampened the fun, the mood was saved by Murr’s impression afterwards.
13. Post Malone
I liked seeing the etiquette challenge brought back and I especially loved seeing the guy do a 180 after recognizing Murr.
The punishment was clever and Post did a great job fanning the flames between the customers and Q. Though I think it was an odd choice to end it as a man was calling 911 without showing how the situation resolves.
12. Eric Andre
The challenges don’t have any moments that particularly stand out to me, but they were consistently entertaining in a way where it always feels worth my time to watch.
This is a rare time where I’d say the best moment from an episode came from a skit, as I love the idea of Murr being a fictional character.
The one change I’d make is that I wish they cut the opening skit and instead spoke to the audience directly, explicitly acknowledging that Joe left and they would be changing things up. I feel like that would’ve made for a better transition.
11. John Mayer
I don’t like that this episode only had one challenge before the punishment, but I do like that the celebrity guest was involved in both the challenge and the punishment, which I wish was the case more often.
The challenge itself was also fun enough to make up for being the only one. I loved Sal randomly arm wrestling the investors, the constant utterance of “Bro” and Murr’s mark insinuating he hired prostitutes.
10. ALF
The ticket challenge was solid and the phone call challenge was great, especially Sal’s McRib story.
Making a fictional character the celebrity guest was a somewhat risky choice, but I think it worked out. They did a good job integrating ALF into the punishment, and I loved the detail of him thinking Q enjoyed the food.
9. Anthony Davis
I like challenges where the Jokers have to convince the mark to lie, so I really enjoyed the “playing hookie” challenge.
I did not like the second challenge though. I found Steve Byrne’s antics more annoying than funny.
This is made up for by the punishment, which I consider one of the best punishments in recent history. Allowing Sal to opt out of tasks at a price was a clever way of adding stakes and making the punishment standout. The final task in particular was genius, and while it could have been over the line, Anthony avoided that by giving the kid his own shoes.
8. Method Man
The punishment was just uncomfortable and not very fun to watch, but the episode makes up for it with the challenges.
The scientists challenge was great, and the “don’t smirk” challenge was possibly the funniest segment in the whole post-Joe era. I personally think the “no smirking” rule was a bit excessive, and a rule against laughing would’ve been plenty, but the content of the challenge was hilarious, and that’s what matters.
7. Bruce Campbell
The Rosanna Scotto challenge was alright, with the most interesting part being when customers defended dumpster diving.
The waiter challenge was great. I loved Murr’s “who’s paying?” bit and Q constantly trying to improve the women’s ribs.
The punishment was great and felt like something we’d get in the older seasons. For the Bobby Moynihan episode, I mentioned that parts of Murr’s punishment seemed tacked on, and that’s not the case here. Each step of Q’s punishment felt like a natural extension, and Campbell did a great job as the overly demanding director.
6. Bret Michaels
The Grocery Roll was a great challenge to kick off the COVID restrictions being lifted. Murr and Sal each had spectacular Pratt falls.
The hide and seek challenge was a welcomed return. While I wouldn’t want it to become a staple of the show, I think it’s a great game to throw in once every couple of seasons to shake things up. Sal genuinely wondering if he can breathe in the fridge, repeatedly trying to close the door on himself, and hurting his arm on the third attempt was very stupid in the best way possible.
Murr’s punishment was a mixed bag. The armwrestling, bowls of soup, and Paul Rudd showing up out of nowhere were all hilarious, but whenever a mark is furious and has their face blurred, I go from enjoying the discomfort to just feeling bad for everyone involved.
5. Rob Riggle
The taste test challenge was great, with Q’s mark being one of the funniest of season in recent history.
The workout challenge was even better and really recaptured the magic they had in earlier seasons. Murr’s “wrong/good” workout and Sal’s refusal to accept help were particularly great.
The punishment was also solid. Murr having to stay still while mostly naked was simple and effective, and they were able to create a wacky enough environment around him that there’s more to keep things entertaining.
4. Chris Jericho
This is the first episode that made me realize IJ can make great episodes.
The Joint Gravy challenge was absolutely hilarious. Especially Sal’s turn.
The focus group challenge was also great. I’d be happy if they made Jiggy… not the fourth Joker… but the official stand-in whenever they have a challenge where they need to pair up.
The two skits were both really good. The opener was grounded and reserved, while the mid-show skit was ridiculous in the best way.
While I’ve said that IJ has gone a bit overboard with the physical torture punishments, I think this one was well done. It was creative to let Q alternate between various painful tasks as he wanted, and I loved how he was dependent on Sal’s mom to end the punishment. I really wish she started getting involved in the show earlier, because she’s hilarious.
3. Kal Penn
Having to sell a product after coming in through the window was hysterical, both in concept and execution. All three turns had a completely different feel to them. Murr was slimy and confident, Q was overly enthusiastic, and Sal was completely desperate.
The eating challenge was similar to the “Boot and Rally” challenge to me, in the sense that it’s not something I’d want to see again, but it was made funny due to the Jokers being self aware about it not being a good challenge. Murr’s frustration at Q and Sal saying they’d just take the thumbs down was 10X funnier than if they actually attempted the challenge.
The punishment itself was solid. It’s a simple but effective idea, and revealing that it was Sal’s breath that stunk was a great ending.
2. Blake Anderson
They brought back two challenges that had each only been done once before, which could be risky, but worked out great.
The “phony fees” challenge was a welcomed return. Johnna did a great job making the charges seem legitimate, and the woman constantly praising Q was amazing.
The Yearbook challenge was also really good. The gag about them all being married to Melissa reminded me of the organic humor we got back when Joe was on the show.
The punishment was my favorite of season 10. It has a juvenile charm where I know what Sal’s doing is really dumb, yet am root for him to get away with it.
1. Brooke Shields
Brooke gave the same energy as a guest that I was hoping to get from Paula Abdul.
The opening skit was great, largely because of how well Brooke sold the role of a fangirl.
This was the first time we saw the celebrity guest participate in a challenge, and it was very fun to watch. The girl trying to dab while in a suitcase was hilarious.
The “Brooke of Love” punishment was genius. We’ve seen challenges that convert to punishments before, but it was always done on the fly and/or kept secret from the joker being punished. Having everyone know that whoever loses will be punished immediately was a really unique approach and I hope they do something similar in the future.
I also love the idea of a dating show where the guys are all trying to be as unappealing as possible. Sal’s rap, the return of Stanley Merkle, and the hushed trash talking (trash whispering?) were all fantastic. I know the show (usually) doesn’t repeat punishments, but I’d love to see the challenge be done again, even if it’s without the instant punishment at the end. It could be in the context of a dating show again, or it could be something like a job interview.

2024.05.19 17:55 valkyze [29/M] UK/Online - On the search for... something...

I'm Lewis, 29M from the UK and I'm on the search for a meaningful long term friendship. Someone who wants to take the time to get to know each other on a deeper level and wants to learn about each other. The kind of friendship that feels clingy in the sense you're always wanting to talk because you enjoy their presence in your life. I'm also looking for someone who wants to message daily and share what's going on in each others life.
I don't have many preferences, all I ask is that you're 21+ as I'm looking for someone around my age who has similar life experiences, 21-37 please. Timezones don't matter to me much as I have a crazy schedule so I'm awake at all hours of the day.
I don't want to put too much here as I'd rather enjoy talking to you and getting to know you that way rather than walls of text. I enjoy being outdoors, playing video games, listening to music, cycling, computer programming and enjoy deep thought provoking conversations. I have a dark sense of humour and can be very blunt at times. I consider myself to be a very loyal person. I've been hurt but if you get on my good side, you're stuck with me. I'm also 420 friendly. I have a pet cat called Levi (bonus points if you guess where the name is from).
Here's a picture of me: https://imgur.com/a/Z17J0qs
Let's break the ice by telling me what's been going on in your life lately, plans for 2024 or what show you're currently watching. Please include a photo of yourself as I like to put a face to things and know who I'm speaking to.

2024.05.19 17:54 Yorown Bug overload....

Bug overload....
Hii, I've got a lot of houseplants in my appartment. Which also comes with bugs, I've given a lot of plants new soil and I've set traps for the bugs. Sciara analis is the Latin name in English this is: march bugs I think, google has not been real clear... 😅 The traps are yellow sticky papers specially made for these bugs and some venus flytraps. I've seen on the internet that cinnamon is a great cure for plants and works against bugs.
My question now is; I've got a lavaplant (plant who lives on obsidian and gets it nutrients from the rock and water in there). Also see photo. Is it possible to put some cinnamon in the water or would that harm the plant? I'm hesitant about whats right for the plant and gets rid of the bugs in that water. I'm curious to learn more!

2024.05.19 17:45 raquel18ls The Starset lore part IV: A Brief History of the Future

Hi, guys! I'm back. I've just finished reading Starset's new novel, A Brief History of the Future, and i really needed to share it.
Some of you may know me from my previous posts on the Starset lore:
Now that I've read this book, I want to sum up what we have now. Keep in mind that, for obvious reasons, this post is all spoiler content. If you plan to read the book(s) I encourage you to do so, because I'm unveiling some of the main "plot-twists" in the second book. I won't be writing a literal summary of the book's plot (I will focus on the content more than in the "drama"), but key elements of it will appear. Also, I'm taking for granted you are already familiar with the contents in The Prox Transmissions -if not, I recommend you reading my post or just dropping this post altogether and go read the book!
If you have already read the books, don't plan to read them or don't care about the spoilers, stay with me along this long post because you will discover much about Divisions, Horizons... and what's coming next!!
Let's go then!
In a unknown year the novel starts in a world dominated by a state called the New East. it's not explicit in the book, but we have reasons to identify the New East with China: it is a current superpower and the powerful people in control have Chinese names. This state is governed by a Governing Committee, composed by Ministers that stay in charge for 5 years, with an exception: the Minister of Security, also known as MinSec. He is the head of the New East's secret police and he is to remain in charge for life.
Prior to 2024, Aston Wise (remember he was one of the protagonists of the previous novel!) is locked up by the US Government. They force him to create the BMI and its Architecture. In 2024, as I have said, the New East manages to obtain it and the big war starts. This part of the story is also explained deeper in a video (called "Initial Debriefing", available in Starset's YouTube channel since September 9th, 2021), with some minor incongruencies:
In the year 2010, the US Defense Advance Research Projects Agency -or DARPA- began work on a neural link system known as the "Brain Machine Interface" developed under the highest levels of secrecy. This technology was to be used in covert espionage campaigns with the goal of giving the US a major advantage in the ever-growing cyber warfare battlefield. The intention was to use the "BMI" on unsuspecting foreign agents, giving US Intelligence a remote line into their minds. Launched in 2020 to great success, the BMI provided a window into the intentions and secrets of numerous potential adversaries. Then, in 2021, a botched operation allowed this technology to fall into the hands of an undisclosed state who would then use it agains the US itself for over a decade. This state -which came to be known as the New East- used this technology to syphon intellectual property and assert control over the US, allowing it to rise swiftly as a global superpower. In the early 2030s, the crippled US launched an attack to the New East. This was quickly thwarted. However, as the New East was fully aware and prepared, in the end, the US and its allies capitulated and became known simply as the New West. Citizens of the New West, now mostly impoverished laborers, were offered BMI implantation -sold on the wonders of its amazing benefits. Eventually though, all were made to comply. Only then did the true goals of the New East become apparent.
The New West is a de facto and de iure protectorate. The New West has its own local police -that dealt with murder and robbery-, but the military and, most important, the Civil Authorities (CA), are controlled by MinSec -focused on thought crime.
Soon after the end of the war, some people were drafted for the reclamation in Virginia by the New East army. This was a forced-labor suicide mission because it was a fallout zone. The goal was the recovery of documents from the US, such as blueprints for advanced weapons and intel. Those who survived, developed NeuroTIDS (neural tissue interface degeneration syndrome) because of the radiation.
Once in control of the US (now New West), the New East implanted into all citizens the BMI. Now, people deal with three layers of reality: unaltered reality (UR), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Considering the BMI, there are three states:
(There also exists the Everything Machine in this storyline. Indeed, people ate only printed food, as real food as reserved for the New East).
On top of this, there’s an intelligent algorythm or artificial intelligence in the Architecture, called the Overseer. It is capable of detecting thought crimes by accessing a person's sensory input and also altering their perceptions (for example, blurring texts from banned books). When a thought crime is detected, CAs intervene and turn the perpetrator into a supplicant. Supplicants are stuck in VR prisons while their bodies wander in the streets or are collected and put into "corrals". See an example of a supplication facility in Where the Skies Ends music video.
The protectorate of the New East upon the New West is mantained thanks to the Quantum Comunicator, which keeps both connected and also connected to the Architecture
On the other hand, there's a rebel network still in function. They manage to meet and develop their plans by modding their BMIs, so that they become undetectable under the eyes of the Overseer. Their plan is to trap the MinSec and use their credentials to get access to the Architecture and destroy it from the inside.
(In Manifest music video you can see examples of people frosting, people supplicated, the modding minor surgery, the rebels, the CAs using their "freezing" weapons and supplicating civilians and a bigwig from the New East, maybe the MinSec himself).
Also, it is said that the New East didn't manage to conquer all the Old West (US) territories. There's rumours about the socalled Western Territories, free land where some former rebels already live, though its real existence it's in never confirmed in book. In The Breach music video we can see how a family leaving in the New West takes the opportunity of escaping into the Western Territories during some sort of shutdown.
The New West capital is established in Philadelphia, where the events in A Brief History of the Future are set. Here's the Quantum Communication Center and the New West Center for Advanced Innovation (CAI), where the most brilliant programming students are sent to develop their skills and work for the New West/East. One of this students is one of the protagonists of this book, Thomas Bell (again, someone whose name we are already familiar...), who quickly proves to be the best one and gets to be chosen as the Director's assistant. Eventually we get to discover the Director is Aston Wise and later on we find out he is the Architect himself.
A feature or app of the BMI that will reveal crucial to the plot is the Shadowcast: one can frost but, instead of being conscious in a VR, "enters" inside a celebrity's mind for an hour and experiences all they are experiencing live (the user is passive and can only perceive, but not intervene or influence the shadowcast celebrity into doing anything). You can see an example of this in Symbiotic music video, where the user is finally able to successfully Occupy the body of the celebrity. In the book, when this happens, the person occupied has their BMI turned purple.
In the book, Occupation will be a tool used by Bell and Wise, but also by the government, in an attempt of using the supplicated bodies to their own purposes. The original project launched by the New East and commissioned to the Director of the CAI (Aston Wise), was called by Wise himself 'Project X'. New East wanted to present it to the citizens as a way of emancipating from work: while working, you can let yourself be occupied by the Overseer, who wil perform your job while you can be having fun in VR. In Icarus music video you can see an ad made by the New East to promote the "benefits" of this technology (called Werk here); the other ads are based on previous BMI technology (AR, VR and Shadowcast). (Fun fact: have you noticed that the actor in 3:12 is the same from the Ricochet music video?).
As I said in the beginning, it is not my goal to sum up the book's plot and even though I have already spoiled you much info and some plot-twists, I'm not telling you here how the story of the protagonists develops and how it ends. However, I can't refrain from telling you this: the last page of the book has a QR that redirects to a video that has me really excited.
In the video, we see a man. He tells us it is 2048. In spring 2026, the New East took over the US. But... guess who's back! Oh, yes, the Order! Or rather they were there all along. In fact, the man who's talking to us is Stephen Browning! On July 4th of 2026, after the New East invasion, the Order tried to launch a spacerocket to get to "a lonely planet" (Prox!), but it was intercepted by the New East and then the army destroyed their base, so they lost all hope in a future on another planet. However, they managed to hide a "time mechanism" (I guess the same they had in The Prox Transmissions) and, finally, sent a message to 2024, warning us about this future that awaits us. Then he sais:
Dear Order friends, the time has finally arrived. We're headed to space. We're going go Prox.
This announcement matches Starset's video from six months ago ("It begins. And it ends. Now."), where we see images of astronauts and spacerockets, evoking space travel. Wow! Did you miss that "space-y" aesthetic, plots and sound from Transmissions and Vessels? Because it sounds like we're getting them back! Note that at the end of this video, the three dots of the BMI are occupied by three symbols:
It also matches the music video for Starset's last single, Brave New Word! And there's more news: the end of the video linked in A Brief History Of the Future ends with a "to be continued in Spring 2025".
So... Again, there are some questions left unanswered (and I love that!): How are both books linked? Are they the same Aston Wise and Thomas Bell, but in an alternative timeline? From where will the story continue? (The Order in 2048 colonising Prox?). I'm soooo excited to learn what's coming next and to listen Starset's next album (I love Brave New World).
Let me know about your impressions, opinions, theories... feel free to add any info I could have missed, to correct any piece I could be mistaken about, etc. Thank you so much for your attention (I literally created this account only to write these Starset lore posts I feel very invested to and English isn't even my first or second language), I hope you enjoyed it and found it useful!!

2024.05.19 17:39 xofaira AITAH for snooping through my boyfriend’s phone and confronting him about what i found?

i went through my boyfriends 24 M phone and i 21 F don’t know how to handle it. what do i do?
My boyfriend 24 M and I 21 F have been on and off for about 6 years, there was a time in our relationship where we were broken up for (what we thought) was good and both had separate relationships. the problem i’m having is i know his ex girlfriend personally and never have been her biggest fan, and this has caused issues in our relationship. i really struggle because the first time we dated it was very pure and innocent and now i feel it’s tainted. last night i was on his phone looking something up on google because mine was dead, and then i got too curious. i started looking in his photos and eventually ventured down to his hidden album. i honestly really didn’t think i was gonna see anything like i saw i was just curious if he actually deleted all of the spicy photos i had sent him over the years. NOPE i found him and his ex girlfriend’s sex tape, that he had kept. now, i am not one of those cool, calm and collected girls (although i wish i was). i admittedly can have a temper and have a lot of trouble processing things like this…. so i woke him up at 1 am, and freaked out about it. his response was that he was changing his phone password, will never trust me again and that he will be leaving in the morning. he did just that, when he got up this morning i asked him if he would just say a word to me. that we didn’t have to talk about the situation right now but i wanted some grasp of where his head was at. he didn’t and he left. i understand that i breached his trust, but why would he even keep something like that especially just the video?? im assuming in their time together there were explicit photos shared, but out of everything he kept the video. he told me he “forgot” but is that really true considering there are recent photos of ME in there too? i told him last night that i need reassurance, and comfort from him. i need to understand why. he gave me the opposite. i am beyond hurt and confused, should i wait to see if he has anything to say and if we can come to a resolution or do i walk away? AITAH for snooping through his phone?

I'm hoping for your help on this. This is a watch I have always wanted since (ironically) I saw a replica of one. I have read that it can be hard to QC the bezel/dial as the domed sapphire tends to distort the relationship between the two depending on the angle you view the watch at. The QC video clip they sent would seem to indicate all is good as the watch is rotated, but some of the individual photos give the impression that the bezel/dial alignment could be off on the RHS at the 2 and 4 hour markers. I'd appreciate your feedback.

2024.05.19 17:22 Making_flowers [US-MD] [H] MORE KEYS, MORE PRICE DROPS, MORE INVENTORY, including ASM, X-Men, Batman, Wolverine, DC, silver age, golden age, horror, you name it I have it. MUCH easier navigation, too! [W] PayPal

Cleaned up the inventory into folders on an easy to navigate Google Drive and added direct links on each issue below. Click on the issue to be taken directly to the folder with that issue's photos. You can scroll below the inventory list for more details on condition and key facts. I’m always open to bundle deals and reasonable offers. Let's talk, I need to make room.
I’ve also taken on a lot of random fillers as I fill inventory, so I’ll be including a random comic valued around $10 (legitimately, not junk) in each order.
These prices include shipping (Gemini mailers whenever possible). I've tried to provide condition explanations, photos of everything (even the ones below $100) and detailed photos.
Again, all images are now organized much better in individual Google drive folders.

Good to great condition on these Beast issues, including the Juggernaut vs Beast cover. Bundle with Amazing Adventures #11 (first furred Beast) and I'll give you a great deal.

Strange Tales #73 - 1960 - First appearance of Grottu, first appearance of ‘Frank’ who later becomes Ulysses Bloodstone. Great old horror in low grade: $20
Book is beat, see photos. But it’s an awesome piece of Marvel monster history. I’m only selling because I recently got a high grade copy and I’m selling at this price in hopes someone wants to give it a home in their PC.
Beware! #1 - 1973 - First issue reprints horror stories from Menace, Spellbound and Tales of Suspense: $25
Overall good shape. Solid book, some wear on the cover. But firmly intact and a great 1st issue.
Early Man-Thing lot: Astonishing Tales #13, Adventure into Fear #11-13: $80 (willing to split this lot up)
First cover appearance of Man-Thing, and 3rd appearance overall in awesome condition. The Fear 11-13 are in good condition, but a little more worn than the Astonishing.
House of Secrets #91 - 1971 - Iconic Neal Adams cover: $32
Book is in great condition. There is some minor chipping on a portion of the bottom edge of the cover but other than the wear on the cover it is a beautiful book.

Great condition. Good colors, solid book.
Dead of Night #1 - 1973 - Romita art: $35
Really great condition, with a minor color rub or stain or something (can’t tell what) to a spot on the bottom of the front cover and top of the back. Fantastic colors, white pages.
SCI-FI
Mystery in Space #68 - 1961 - 10c Comic Goodness: $25
Cover is detached, but hey, it’s a 10c comic. Otherwise good colors and pages.
Strange Adventures #138 - 1962: $18
Good condition, good colors.
Golden and Silver Age Lot of 12- $85
Came into a lot of worn golden and silver books I know little about. Would like to offload them all together, so take a look at the album. Includes Little Lulu, Cheyenne Kid, the Flintstones, Tarzan, some other Gold Key and Dell stuff and an Adventures book from 1945. Did some research to get prices, take a look.
Star Spangled War Stories #113 - 1964 -Bruh, they’re fighting pterodactyls: $17
In good shape. Some wear to the back cover and minor wear on the front. Great story and art.

2024.05.19 17:13 elizabeth011235 Help with catalog on external drive

Help with catalog on external drive
I'm using Lightroom Classic. I think I messed something up with the catalog or folders or something, but I don't know how / exactly what. I'm not even sure how to describe the issue, so I'm including some screenshot to (hopefully) help explain.
I have my Lightroom catalog, and all the photo files, on an external drive. It's been like this from several years. Normally when I plug in the drive and open Lightroom, in the Navigator window in Library view I see Drive name > Photo Folder > folders named by year. This is also what I see in Explorer.
The top level of the drive
Next level; these folders are normally what I see in Lightroom
Today when I opened Lightroom, there is the Drive name and then my usual photo folder, and a new one called D: that appears to contain duplicates of some, but not all, of the folders.
The D: folder is new/I did not create
When I right click on the D: folder or any of it's subfolders within Lightroom and select 'Show in Explorer' it just takes me to existing folder on the drive - e.g. the folder 2024 is not duplicated on the external drive, and if I click 'Show in Explorer' for D: > 2024 it takes me to the 2024 folder under 'Elizabeth's Photos'.
What is causing problems is that when I right click within Lightroom on 'Elizabeth's Photos' and select 'Create Folders Inside', it puts the new folder under the D: one, even though I've selected 'Elizabeth's Photos'.
So, clearly I messed something up, but I don't know what it is and I don't know how to fix it. I'm in medical school and nature photography is a hobby that helps keep me sane, so any help would be much appreciated!
If relevant, I'm running Lightroom Classic version: 13.2 [ 202402141005-bf1aeb84 ] on an up to date Windows 10 (version 10.0.19045) on a Dell XPS laptop (the same one I have previously used with Lightroom). The external drive is just a generic 2TB drive and the catalog and photos have been on it for several years. There is nothing else stored on the drive beside Lightroom files and the photos.

2024.05.19 17:00 vargaking Is this a scam or just negligence?

I am looking for housing around Eindhoven and found a studio in Geldrop on Pararius. There was an online viewing, everything seemed right, I sent the usual stuff (payslips, id, etc) and a few days later I received that I was chosen as the best candidate. I wanted to arrange an in person viewing through an ambassador, and I’ve got appointment, unfortunately I couldn’t manage to send someone there, so this was on me. The agency sent the contract, I asked some questions and they answered and even modified it at a part I requested and I signed it. Turned out the owner is in vacation, so we agreed on waiting for him to sign the contract before I send the money.
Today I noticed that there is another ad by the agency on Pararius in the same street with some photos being the same as the one we are signing the contract for (except the front of the house that is a few numbers away, checked it on streetview) for 200eur less. I checked the owner of the place as well, and it is the same person that my contract says. The agency seems legit (Walther Vastgoedbeheer is their name if anybody recognises them), the numbers we talked on, the email address and their office on streetview checks out. Is this some really high level scamming or they are just lazy/negligent?
Tldr: I’ve got offered a place, contract signed by me, and waiting with the payment to the owner sign it as well, forensics seem good, but they have another ad a few houses away advertised with the same interior photos, for 200eur less, and I’m not sure if it’s a scam or not.

2024.05.19 16:59 Helpful_Professor_33 AITA for wanting to clear out MIL's stuff?

My mother-in-law lived with us in our house 3 years ago. When she moved, she left behind lots of sweaters, coats, boots, shoes, pictures in frames, kitchen items, photo albums, a laptop, two Kindles, just a bunch of stuff. We live in cold weather and she does not, and we are preparing to move to another state that also has cold weather.
While I am fine with boxing up a couple of coats and boots, as well as sweaters, socks and underwear, hygiene things, and other necessities for when she visits, in total all of her stuff amounts to well over a single car trip. My husband and I have been arguing back and forth for weeks over what to do with it all. I've talked with her a couple of times, asking her to go through her stuff and determine what she wants to keep and take with her, what she wants to keep and have us take, and what she's willing to sell.
I''m not asking them to get rid of centimental things, but I don't want to carry more than a car load of things that don't belong to us, aren't useful to us, and are needlessly taking up space. Personally, I feel angry when she gets worked up about us getting rid of some things. What I mean is, if this stuff means so much to her, why are we still hanging on to it?
Am I the asshole for wanting to get her stuff moved out?

Malte Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine
Normally, the Excellence Platine collection consists of platinum case and dial versions of existing models however this version launched in 2007 is a one shot as it did not exist as a regular production model making it even more rare and desirable! Made in only 50 pieces it houses the manual wind cal 1141QP.

Patrimony Traditionnelle Calibre 2755
Presented in 2007 the Patrimony Traditionnelle Caliber 2755 (how’s that as a dry name for such an amazing watch?) is currently Vacheron Constantins most complicated timepiece (610 components). However, it’s just not “just” a perpetual calendar, tourbillon minute repeater but the greatest sounding repeater I have ever heard thanks to a centripetal speed-regulator in the striking-mechanism, an original device which eliminates the noise interference normally experienced with pallet systems (the bzzz often heard when the repeating mechanism is activated).
As with the ref 30020 and 30040 the case has been carefully designed and manufactured to give the minute repeater a remarkable resonance, which is optimised by the ingenious use of a stud linking the case to the striking mechanism. And, thanks to its high copper content, which gives it its colour, the pink gold case adds to the quality of resonance.
In 2010 the Cal 2755 was also launched in platinum with an opaline and a slate grey dial, the later having an even more contemporary look. Normally platinum is a metal which “absorbs” the chimes but the watchmakers at Vacheron Constantin have done a fantastic job and the chimes are almost as loud and pure as in the rose gold version.
I have to admit that the Cal 2755 has the most amazing chime I have ever come across (a close second being the Patek Sky Moon tourbillon), the first time I heard it, it was in a room with people talking and music in the background and still the chimes could be perfectly heard.
The Cal 2755 for me is a condensed representation of what Vacheron Constantin is: a beautiful design which is classical yet with a twist, perfect proportions, technical mastery and drop dead amazing movement finish. Techniques have not been sacrificed for design and there is no compromise in the design for the sake of techniques
The cal 2755 is assembled from A to Z by the same watchmaker who also tunes the gongs (by filing away on the base of the gongs) to achieve the perfect chime. As Chrystian Lefrançois, master watchmaker at Vacheron Constantin says “achieving the perfect chime is extremely difficult as you need to adjust the gong by filing the metal and at one point you know that you have reached the best possible sound and one file too much and you go from the best chime to the dull sound of a spoon hitting a pot!”
About less than one Patrimony Traditionnelle Cal 2755 come out of the ateliers of Vacheron Constantin per month, considering that it can take 3-4 months to fine tune and assemble. It exists in rose gold and platinum (with opaline or slate grey dials), a limited edition with a gorgeous chocolate dial was made for Parisian retailer Dubail as well as a pièce unique for the New York Boutique.

Metiers d'Art: Les Masques
Rarely have the words art and masterpiece been used so correctly. My first reaction to this collection was the same as being thunderstruck: breathless, speechless, heart beating fast and wobbly knees! It’s hard to define the divine but you can recognize it when you see it and for me the hands of the gods guided the designers at Vacheron Constantin to create such original, bold and daring pieces.
At an epoch where originality resides in the use of carbon fibber and black PVD or the most improbable partnership with cars, motor cycles and boats Vacheron Constantin opened a whole new untreaded path where art and horology met.
The concept was to use an art form still little known to the general public: the so called primitive arts. Geneva has the chance of housing one of the most prestigious collections of primitive arts: the Barbie-Muller Museum and collaboration between the museum and Vacheron seemed therefore unavoidable. The museum lent a certain number of pieces to Vacheron for replication but the great difficulty resided maintaining the proportions in a miniature version. Different techniques were tried but the final results were unsatisfactory. Vacheron Constantin finally turned to the Geneva Engineering School for help in making a three-dimensional image of each mask. By putting the plans together on a computer, they were able to modify the volumes point by point and find the best angle for fitting the whole mask into the case while safeguarding the harmony of its forms. It was thanks to the magic of laser technology that the miniaturisation of the masks became possible.
The time is read by means of four discs indicating the hours, minutes, days and date in windows. A clever technique using transparency and specially-treated glass creates the impression that the masks are floating. Each sapphire crystal has a different tint, obtained by a unique metallisation process, so that it sets off the colour of the mask.
Michel Butor’s (a contemporary French poet) short poems dedicated to each mask circle the sapphire dial in letters of gold and can only be read when the light strikes it from a certain angle. This effect is achieved by vacuum metallisation, a sophisticated technological process in which the gold letters are sprayed onto a sapphire crystal.
The effect is amazing and depending on the inclination of the wrist the sapphire crystals hues vary as well as the coloring of the letters. There is such subtility and depth in the dial that you can almost drown in it and spend hours just staring at it mesmerised by its sheer beauty.
This series launched in 2007 consisted of 25 sets of 4 watches each. A new set was also launched in 2008 and 2009.

2024.05.19 16:52 FreddyDoLess Who really has the most BARS?

Bar 4 Bar Rapsody RAW
Hey guys I am really interested and get really nerdy about hip hop and BARS. i love bars and decided to start a project where I pick songs and comb through the lyrics to see just how many bars are really being spit and written. I hope to use this to highlight some people you might not have thought had bars, confirm your favorite lyricist does have bars and to just have fun and silly bars, all in the name of hip hop!
I have posted some older videos on my channel but now I want to take it more serious and start providing more stats with each song and posting more content constantly. Im curious what you all think and if there are any song you want me to breakdown. I plan on doing new music and old music.
I just released a video this morning for a song off Rapsody's new album! i hope you enjoy and grow with me. I promise it will get better and ill do some editing, i just want to get into the habit of releasing first!

2024.05.19 16:46 xear818 Advaita teacher Robert Adams was really Robert Spiegel

The now deceased guru Robert Adams was Robert Spiegel, and there is a huge history.

Did Robert Adams really meet Ramana Maharshi? The answer is a decisive NO! His claim of being at Ramana Ashram anytime between 1946-1950 has been proven false.
Some things that stand out in this report is that Robert Adams is obviously Robert Spiegel by the pictures. Also, by his marriage certificate to Leonie Maxwell who has been positively identified as Nicole Adams and linked to the Infinity Institute. The address listed as “1985 Bathgate Ave. Bronx, N.Y.” on his marriage certificate and military record leaves no room for doubt: we are referring to the correct Robert Spiegel. He was born in 1932, making him 16 years old in 1948.
If you scroll to the bottom and examine his military record he worked from 1948-1951 as a General Clerk for the Brazilian Trade Bureau in NYC before he began active duty from 1951-1954 where he served in Korea and was awarded a Bronze Medal for valor in combat. He separated from the US Army in Jan. 14, 1954, married Nicole (Leonie) in 1954 and had his first child Sharon (aka Melanie/Amber) in 1957; second daughter Michelle (aka Avantae) in 1960. He obtained a mail order doctorate degree from the “College of Divine Metaphysics,” in Indianapolis, Indiana (still around) and traveled the USA lecturing on “Science of the Mind,” and a “7 Day Stop Smoking” program as Dr. J. Robert Spiegel.
At this writing Nicole Adams (aka Leonie Maxwell) is alive, 95 years old, and in a hospital (Cape Fear Valley Medical Center) in Fayetteville, North Carolina; two of her grandchildren are missing and there is an ongoing police investigation regarding their adoptive mother Michelle/Avantae who now goes by the name Avantae Deven. Avantae continues to post quotes about love, light, and peace, her idyllic childhood with saintly (rarely home) Robert Adams, and human brotherhood while refusing to answer questions about her two missing children —their possible whereabouts — or why she waited almost 1.5 years to make her strange 911 call to report them missing. https://selfreflexiveloopphotography.photo.blog/2024/05/16/advaita-teacher-robert-adams-was-really-robert-spiegel/

2024.05.19 16:44 ElectricOlm Success is Redefining Failures

Stories of Failure Redefine(d) as Success.
If at first you don’t succeed, redefine success. Days fill with ‘Desiderata’ by Max Ehrmann and end with ‘Invictus’ by William Ernest Henley. Ehrmann was a Harvard law student and wound up a meat packer. Still the poem is most successful across humanity. Henley’s success for the emotion expressed during great suffering. Share stories of tragedy turned to triumph in gratitude. Yours, others, a creative story read that was more than likely based on real events like Treasure Island’s Long John Silver was based on Henley’s youth.

2024.05.19 16:41 BS_DD4_16_24 Getting closer to present time. Update 2 on discovered Snapchats with ex

So I have more evidence of the duration of contact. She's 7 months married. 6.5 months pregnant.
It started out sexual from his first words. Calling her sexy. Asking to video chat. She didn't, but deflected in a passive way. I know they transitioned to Snapchat after he asked to video chat and stopped using Instagram. ~3.5 yr gap from then to when they added each other on this latest instance of his Snapchat.
Proof I nailed it on at least two counts in our previous talk when I told her that "I don't remember" isn't the defense she thinks it is. It's just harmful stonewalling and lying and I'm going to operate under the assumption: of the possible answers, it's the worst one. Don't remember how long it has been going on for? I take that to mean it's been the whole time. It happened before our relationship and never stopped. She acknowledged that he had asked for sexual pictures. I asked when he started that. "I don't remember." Well that just means that's the status quo. You don't have an event to point to because it didn't stand out. That's just the nature of your conversation. It's always been him pushing boundaries and asking for it.
So when I ask what video she sent and she says "I don't remember?" When I ask what else she has sent and she says "nothing else inappropriate?" Well I don't have proof but I know what my gut feeling is. Let's not get into the "inappropriate" nature of the admitted venting to your ex who about our relationship problems...
Time for another confrontation with newfound evidence to poke holes. Let's see if it's enough to trigger her to come clean now on the rest.
She tries to minimize it. Reiterates that nothing else inappropriate was sent. I tell her that the whole thing is inappropriate and should have been shut down when it started in the way that it did. I asked what was exchanged on Snapchat. She said he asked for more but that she told him I'm married and don't want to do that. I pointed out that he was calling her sexy and asking to video chat and there's no hint of that sentiment in the months it took to move to Snapchat. All I see is (AP):"you're looking sexy" (WW) "thanks. you're looking good too!" and "Im 8 mo pregnant, tired, and don't want to be on camera." Nothing even vaguely expressing its inappropriate or that you want it to stop because you're married. Just quick on the draw when he asks to see that sexy belly or that cute face. Asking to video chat, a shared Snapchat username, and right on over to the platform designed for sexting. Either it's as you say, that you didn't care about him at all and just went along in the most passive way imaginable or you were an enthusiastic participant. I think it's the latter.
She deflects and brings up me texting my ex at one point with a picture of our new baby. Also mentioned a girl I have on Snapchat. Turns out she must have snooped in my phone? Well she never mentioned it to me despite "it shaking her."
Another example of a huge personality flaw of hers. No communication. She just bottled it up and used it as justification for eroding our marriage. If she had mentioned it at the time, it could have been addressed and put to rest. One benefit to living a clean life. I told her that my recollection of the nature of the conversation I had with her was that it was short, congratulating her on getting married and sharing that we had our daughter. That I haven't spoken to her since. As for the other one brought up that's a Snapchat friend, she is a childhood friend that was a few years younger and not an ex. Our parents worked together and our families hung out a lot. That she's in a happy long term committed relationship on the other side of the country and that I havent seen her since we were like 15 and 12. That we had previously talked in college and before our relationship about each others' relationships. Mainly to vent about ones that had ended or complain about the lack of options. At one point she was in one where he wasn't very committed and I told her she deserves better. I hadn't said anything during a relationship besides being happy and wishing her the same. This all being prior to our relationship. Since then it's pretty much just random pictures you send out to everyone like stuff our family is doing or of her and her SO/dog, but not engaging directly. So yeah, nice try at deflection, but these are wildly different actions.
All this gives me the idea to go see if she's got her old phone around somewhere with old messages from before we dated. I had seen the stuff mentioned in the previous post, but had drawn a line back then to not look at anything from before we dated. I feel it's relevant now for texts with AP at least, to be an example of how they interact.
Found it, and checked when she was away. Read their conversation history. Everything out of his mouth is sexual. Pushing for photos. Sending nudes. He was married at the time. She wasn't super cooperative at first, bringing up the wife, but still ended up sending nudes in response to his. About a year and a half before we got together, while she was between boyfriends, he asked to meet her at a hotel when she came back home for the holidays and she agreed. Later said she couldn't because she just started dating someone and wasn't the type of person to do stuff with two guys. Partial credit I guess? Still not a great look into the character of my wife to be comfortable as AP.
Anyway. Stashed away the evidence. I did do some internet sleuthing and found the address, phone numbers, Facebook, etc of him and his wife. More on that later.
In our conversations about him and their history together, she did mention that before we met, she was in a relationship where the guy was suspicious/jealous and was physically threatening (punched a wall next to her) and sexually assaulted her. That she had told the ex and he confronted the guy and made him back off. So there's a new aspect of trauma she hadn't shared fully. She had shared early on that she had a relationship with someone she was scared of who got jealous and started stalking her but hadn't shared the rest. She won't tell me his name which is probably good for my own continuing "not in jail" legal status, but fuck.... I can appreciate what he did for her and still think he's scum. I can understand the sense of owing him for that and wanting that as an option for protection, which lead to putting up with it despite not wanting to follow through (as she claims). That doesn't excuse continuing into marriage though. It's also fertile ground for an emotional affair if he's the confidant she talks to when things are rough. There's also the "well I've seen it already so it's not a big deal if you send more pictures" aspect that makes it easy to slip into that dynamic.
More to follow. I did however have a session with an IC thru talkspace which went well. She brought up BPD which after looking, I can't say hits on all counts but there's definitely a lot of overlap with the Petulant subtype.
