The Kyanah do not have a world government like so many stereotypical alien civilizations, nor even large nation-states like Earth. The vast majority of the Kyanah population live inside city-states instead. This arises from the fact that Kyanah by nature distrust centralization, deep hierarchies, and collectivization. Any social unit larger than a pack must continuously justify its own existence and demonstrate that any obligations or restrictions it places on packs are outweighed by the benefits they bring to said packs. There is a school of Kyanah philosophical thought known as Fractalism, which posits that relationships between natural and societal structures at differing levels are essentially the same, and the relationship between a pack and its members is essentially a "zoomed in" version of the relationship between the state and citizen packs. But this is controversial even in the more communal and collectivist southern hemisphere, and generally regarded as complete hogwash in the north, where Centralism is much more prevalent, positing that the pack is the center of society, and every other component and societal structure exists to serve the pack structure. Under Centralist thought, it's quite difficult to justify huge governments spanning billions of citizens and vast stretches of territory, as the benefit to individual packs is much less clear than something like a city-state.
The prevalence of city-states over nation-states also means that there have never been large colonial empires in Kyanah history. There have been attempts to establish them, especially during the heyday of the Utopian era, but inevitably they have crashed and burned within a matter of years, with local administrators and populations simply failing to comply with directives from central authorities and ignoring the would-be colonial powers whenever their backs were turned, to an extreme degree. Thus, controlling fast colonial territories inevitably tends to be a money sink for outweighing any possible economic gain. That is not, of course to say, that the Kyanah have a peaceful history or that city-states haven't invaded and overthrown each other. All throughout history, plenty of city-states have been invaded and overthrown; Ikun alone has been responsible for hundreds of regime changes during the Hegemony Era. The difference between this and colonialism, is that Kyanah will tend to leave the conquered city-state once they've gotten what they wanted, whether that be resources, or putting a different government in power, instead of sticking around to try and administrate faraway territories themselves. The exceptions to this rule throughout Kyanah history have almost exclusively involved groups being driven from their home city-states by either natural disasters or persecution or war, and forcefully relocating themselves to someone else's land--again not exactly the same as establishing colonies.
The closest thing to colonialism in Kyanah geopolitics is likely the Globalist doctrine--so named because city-states use their influence to extract natural resources on a global scale. This is an outgrowth of treaties concerning so-called "open land" that exists outside the political and economic borders of any city-state and is thus free for any city-state or any citizens thereof to extract natural resources and develop infrastructure anywhere they please, as long as they don't attack foreign citizens or damage foreign infrastructure they come across in open land. While in theory a fair and just way to handle resources outside the purview of any jurisdiction, rich and powerful city-states were quick to find ways to game the system. Essentially, corporations and city-states in the affluent and heavily industrialized Rktakian Kwardniet could afford to send ultra long-range missions to acquire natural resources in ways that many others could not. Corporations based in city-states like Ikun, and the states themselves, were able to travel halfway around the world to extract resources from right under the snouts of smaller and weaker city-states that may not have the finances to send such resource-gathering expeditions very far afield. The developed northern city-states are thus able get the raw materials they want while cutting out the middleman and avoiding a morass of tariffs and regulations that are inevitable when dealing with global trade networks with thousands of city-states. Meanwhile, weaker city-states are locked out of natural resources that might be sitting just outside their borders.
Of course, private and state-sponsored expeditions to cut out the middleman in trade networks have existed for centuries in all parts of the Kyanah homeworld, but in the period after the Utopian Wars, marked by the exploding popularity of civilian cargo aircraft, nuclear power, and rapidly expanding road and rail networks, made it far more practical to do this on a massive scale. This led to the Globalist doctrine, with city-states in the Rktakian Kwardniet (especially Ikun) getting far more systematic and tactical with it; instead of just getting their hands on natural resources, these expeditions serve secondary, sometimes multiple strategic purposes, with who doesn't get access to resources often being just as important as who does. Ikun has, for instance, been known to orchestrate blatantly unprofitable mining ventures or burn down ecosystems in open lands, solely to block specific developing city-states from mining and harvesting easily accessible resources just outside their borders, in order to advance some geopolitical goal of their own. As the Far South city-states such as Koranah have developed economically, they have also begun to employ Globalist tactics, despite consistently railing against Ikun's implementation of the same tactics in inter-city forums. Despite these tactics, global trade networks continue to grow and grow; no city-state can make everything on their own, every city-state has to import something. Ikun in particular, despite being the most powerful city-state in the world, is a net importer of food, and also extensively imports nanogears--critical components for the Kyanahs' mechanical computers--from Koranah, who produce them at the highest quality and the highest quantity of any city-state.
Possibly the biggest example of Globalist doctrine in action in Kyanah history is the Water Distribution System. The WDS originated after the Utopian Wars as a highly decentralized project, with hundreds of corporations and city-states each building water piplines, silos, collection plants, wells, and all the other necessary infrastructure to efficiently exchange water between themselves and their neighbors and allies. However, Ikun saw the opportunity to use its own technology and infrastructure to merge it all into a cohesive system by bridging crucial gaps in strategic locations around the world, refining and optimizing the infrastructure, and vastly expanding the number of control nodes used to direct the flow of water. This way, flow of water could be optimized across the entire planet, swiftly moving excess water to drought-stricken regions and eliminating droughts. This vision was realized early in the administration of Ikun City Alpha Nyektak-pack, creating the Water Distribution System in its modern form. However, with Ikun technology and Ikun control nodes dominating the system, this gave them an outsized level of control over where the water would flow, with their control nodes being in some cases able to cancel out and override those of other city-states by virtue of numbers. This didn't give Ikun absolute mastery over all water on the planet--other city-states had control nodes too--but it did give them the ability to put their finger on the scale at critical moments and exert undue influence. That being said, water actually did get cheaper and deaths by drought actually did decrease--at least until increasing ecological disasters began to strain the system--so the Water Distribution System has a rather controversial reputation globally.
Eventually, Koranah city-state, Ikun's strongest foreign rival, would come to take inspiration from the Water Distribution System. As environmental destruction intensified year by year, many city-states had the idea to use advanced geoengineering technologies to combat this, planning to construct vast control nodes like living factories that would pump out genetically engineered microbes and nanobots to eat pollution, stabilize ecosystems, and control local weather patterns. Koranah's diplomats encouraged this, secretly planning to do what Ikun did with the Water Distribution System and bring these disparate projects together into a cohesive system, which Koranah would seek to control by establishing their own control nodes at the points in the world where they could have the greatest influence for the least effort. This would create the Climate Control System, able to optimize weather and ecosystems globally instead of just locally, while allowing Koranah to use their control nodes to influence the weather at key points to maximize their own interests. Naturally, Ikun was highly opposed to this and moved to ban geoengineering and use its network of allies and privileged position in the Coalition of Cities to pressure other city-states into following suit or facing sanctions. As an alternative, Ikun touted its own plan Project Hope, a military invasion of Earth designed to revitalize its own faltering economy and demonstrate its unparalleled capability of force projection to allies and enemies alike, thereby keeping the Hegemony alive while still giving their city-state's citizens hope (hence the name) that they will be able to escape the looming ecological disaster coming from geoengineering being banned, and start a new life on Earth.
The interesting thing about all of these is that Kyanah city-states are exerting their influence in foreign lands without actually creating empires and directly controlling other city-states, they're not really making colonies per se even if their activities have a global reach. City-states utilizing Globalist doctrine aren't ruling over or directly plundering foreign cities, they're extracting resources and developing infrastructure in the Kyanah equivalent of international waters, albeit with occasionally devastating consequences to weaker and poorer city-states. Even the invasion of Earth by Ikun city-state doesn't involve Ikun establishing direct control over all or even part of Earth. They couldn't do that even if they wanted to, not with the Kyanah tendency to reject centralized authority, and the 12 year speed of light delay for all communications. The goal is simply to establish independent but Ikun-friendly regimes in politically dominant positions on Earth to expand the Hegemony from one world to two.
Though the Hegemony, Ikun's policy of outsized, unparalleled influence on global affairs, is backed by more than just subtle economic manipulation. The Globalist doctrine, including the Water Distribution System, is just one pillar. Another key pillar is the nuclear monopoly. Having used their own nuclear weapons to preemptively destroy every other city-state seeking to develop them, Ikun maintains the policy that while all city-states may use nuclear power for peaceful purposes, only Ikun can have nuclear bombs. They know good and well that if other city-states developed them--especially Koranah, whose economy and conventional military have all but caught up to Ikun--the Hegemony would collapse in an instant and be replaced by a multi-polar world dominated by mutually assured destruction, diminishing Ikun from hyperpower to mere superpower. Ikun also retains an extremely strong conventional military that it uses to project force across the world, overthrowing and propping up regimes as it sees fit, though during the Nyektak-pack administration, such overt methods are less commonly used than the early days of the Hegemony Era.
The third pillar of the Hegemony is Ikun's influence in the Coalition of Cities. Originally conceived by young idealists and activists as a neutral forum for city-states to resolve their issues in a civilized manner, professional bureaucrats and politicians quickly joined and took over the organization, and Ikun adopted the strategy of using the Coalition as a very much not neutral forum to coordinate its own allies and target its enemies with sanctions and weaponized diplomacy. Much like the Water Distribution System, they carefully select their allies--there are thousands to choose from thanks to the Kyanah having city-states rather than nation-states--to maximize their influence over the Coalition for minimum effort. Normally, as there are over 3000 member states, it's not practical for all ambassador-packs to be at Coalition HQ at all times, especially as a lot of the time, city-states may be using the forum for relatively trivial matters of only regional interest. It can be a crapshoot which members are being represented there at any given time, but savvy ambassadors will try to be present whenever inter-city deals are being made that might concern their city-states, or use occasions when ambassadors from rival city-states aren't present to ram through treaties that are harmful to them. Ikun has an have an uncanny knack for both of these; it's likely no coincidence that they maintain very close diplomatic ties and very preferential trade deals with Kutwenyah, the ostensibly neutral city-state where the Coalition of Cities is headquartered.

I (now 38f) was married in a toxic relationship (mostly emotional abuse but a bit of physical abuse thrown in there too) to my now ex (38m), and in 2018 I was in a catastrophic car accident- shattered femur and pelvis, 2 broken ribs, and a mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI).
I was in hospital for 3 months, and during that time my ex husband, unbeknownst to me, was perpetuating multiple acts of deception against me (e.g., receiving numerous monies in my name and not telling me).
While I was unconscious after my accident, he filled out the paperwork for me to receive disability support payments (DSP's) until I was able to get back to my pre accident status (25 hrs pw as a cook and 20 hrs pw as a university student). But, when he filled out the bank details for my money to go into, he nominated his bank account. I was too busy with my rehabilitation to even think this was an issue and because I trusted him.
I was discharged from hospital on the 16th of October 2018, of which he moved us in with his mother in town (where we were living at the time of my accident was not suitable for someone on 2 crutches). We were there for a week and he finally got a job (I had been financially supporting him for several years whilst he didn't work).
I thought it was great he finally was going to support me after so many years of me supporting him, and that my pain and suffering was now worth it. However, this was short lived.
I the 2nd week after my discharge, a representative from the company who was paying the DSP's came to visit me while he was at work, and I changed the bank account details for my DSP's to go into my bank account, and the 1st payment into my bank account was on the 31st of October 2018. Oddly enough, within days of receiving that first payment into my account, he became distant, but again, I was too busy with my rehab to take much notice.
I the 4th of November 2018, we had an argument because he said that we would have to get rid of our furbaby Chuck (a dog), and admitantly, I did not react very well as Chuck was a gift he bought for me and how dare he make such a decision without me. So I yelled back, he yelled back, and then grabbed me by the throat and slammed me into a wall. I was like "wtf? I'm a cripple ffs" and he let me go and walked away and never apologised.
The next evening, I was in the lounge watching TV with his mum, and at about 9pm he finally came home, sat on the other couch fiddling with his phone for 30 mins then went to the spare bedroom (not our bedroom), closed the door and turned the light off. I thought this was odd, and I'm a 'rip the band aid off kind of girl' and decided to go see why.
He then informed me that he no longer wanted to be together. I was shocked, and he said that 'how could I be shocked? Our relationship wasn't going very well when I craahed'. I was like 'well, you know I thought that after nearly losing me, you would have grown to appreciate me being alive more because that's how I feel'. But that was it, here I was, still crippled and unable to support myself or do the simplist things for myself.
Luckily, I have awesome parents and extended family to help support me, but I had to remain at my exs mothers house for another week until I could move in with my aunty and uncle. During this time, while he was at work, I worked on packing my things. Now, remember I have a TBI, my memory is not great, and we had a massive book and gaming collection. However, when it came to the books, I would pack them into boxes with their titles facing upward in a spot he would see them in an attempt to run it by him that I was grabbing the correct books. One day he looked, and I had grabbed something of his, and he nastily got angry and confronted me, and I apologised citing my TBI.
This happened for a few things, but I was trying to keep everything as amicable as possible to not make his mother uncomfortable. Also, during this week I was stuck there, I waited for him to have a bit of a rest after work before I approached him, and asked him "I know this is an uncomfortable conversation to have, but it has to be had, how much do you still owe me from the money you received in my name?", of which he replied "about $3,500" (I had already done the calculations of what I knew about, missing over $1500 I didn't know about, and he was $1300 off, but I figured I did write off the car he had bought in my accident so I agreed). But he said he couldn't pay me straight away, and I said that's okay and that it would just be nice to see him paying it of sooner rather than later.
I didn't tell him what day I was leaving, I left on the 10th of November (the day before what would have been our 8th wedding anniversary), and I took Chuck with me without asking. I also took his razor in a petty revenge move, pathetic I know, lol, but it made me feel good.
I lived with my aunty and uncle for several weeks, and in this time is when our friends started to come to visit me for the first time after my accident (the hospital I was staying in was in another state and over an ocean). And everytime a friend came to visit, their 2nd or 3rd question was asking where he was, and I would tell them the truth that he had left me (I didn't say anything about the money yet as I was expecting him to pay it, as he had always been a man of his word). Yet, our friends were upset with what he had done to me but they're open minded and would have still spoken to him, however, he never had a phone until now and he never contacted them.
Also at this time, I recived a text message intend for him from an air b and b host for their property he had payed for on the following weekend (the idiot forgot to change his number). I was upset to know that he was already moving on, but I copied and pasted then sent it to him, also stating I was upset he was already moving on. No reply until the date he had already stayed there, saying he did it to move on and break his connection with me. I then thought f**k it, I'm gonna jump onto Tinder and move on too (you'd be surprised how many guys are willing to hook up with a crippled chick, lol).
Now, once joining Tinder, I saw my exs profile on there within 10 swipes (I come from a low population area), and this is probably where I get a bit nasty. I started "Tinder pimping" and came up with my goal of revenge: to get a hatrick (cricket term), where my aim was to sleep with a different guy each night 3 days in a row, which I got but didn't feel as good of a revenge as I thought it would. I then got a bit "Asian crazy", and was only swiping right for Asian men (perhaps this new infatuation was spurred by the trauma of my TBI + the trauma of what my ex did to me and he was a blonde haired blue eyed man).
Anyway, he started paying $100 per week mid December 2018 (around the time I moved in with my parents) and made 3 payments, but at the start of January 2019 he sent me a text saying he had been up to our previous home on a friend's property and put my stuff in a pile. I get up there with my dad and find several items that he had argued with me about grabbing, then it clicked, and I told my dad "what's the bet he's gonna stop paying me now?", and sure as poop on a stick, he stopped paying, although still owing me $3, 600.
So then I started to let our friends know that he had ripped me off too. Then these friends started to ask me whether I got the money they gave to my ex to help me, and this is where all the monies I didn't know were given to him for me started to come out of the woodwork. After finding all these monies out, the amount he owes me is now $4800. But now that everyone knows the extent to what he did, pretty much everyone hates him now and he basically has no friends.
Also, we had a storage shed in another state, which I had been paying for 3 years by myself, and whilst I was on a semester break from uni I went up there to clear it out. Mind you, I was still on 2 crutches outside of 1 crutching at home (a matter of safety). It was a massive mission to get up there (2,300kms/ 1429.154 miles) that required a couple of nights sleep in my car and/or cheep hotels, and popped in on a few friends on my way. Thus, the story of his misdeeds spread further. I get to a friends place close to the storage shed and she helped me clear it thank God, cause I had forgotten about most of the heavy stuff I there. His prized possession, a compound bow, was in there, and I had planned to just give it back to him on my way home because I wasn't going to stoop to his level, but after many conversations with friends on the way, I decided to not give him his stuff back, and rather sell it to recoup the monies he stole from his crippled ex wife.
After the storage shed was cleared and cancelled, I made my way home. Within days of getting home, I check my university email account to find an email from him, saying that he had heard that I had gone up to the storage shed to clear it out, and that he had heard that I intended to give his bow back to him, and although that was not necessary, it was greatly appreciated. I replied saying that "yes, that was my intention, however, because of finding out how he had deceived me on numerous occasions about monies given to him for me that he didn't tell me about, the fact that I had been paying for the storage shed myself, and that he still owes me thousands of dollars, I would only give it back if he pays for at least half of the cost of the storage shed since he broke up with me and half of the costs it took me to go up and clear it out". I never received a reply so I sold his stuff.
Then our d 6 months later, it was time to get our divorce (in Australia you have to wait 1 year after you separate to be able to divorce). He made no mention about the bow or monies owed, and I didn't either, just signed and submitted the paperwork without battling over the money he ripped me off of (once lawyers are paid it just wouldn't be worth it). But at that time, I was doing really well, I was off the crutches and in a fantastic relationship with my gorgeous Asian man who wholly supports me financially, physically and mentally... The ultimate revenge 😊👌

I fell for a guy pretty hard and we both agreed we never felt anything like it before. Our initial texting pattern was frequent and talking on the phone every couple of days. Last weekend, our conversation started to die off a bit. By Sunday night, he hadn't responded from 2pm onward (which he had never done before). I was convinced that I had been love bombed/ghosted, and by 10pm started confiding in my two best friends who agreed he was probably ghosting me. He didn't respond until 9 am the next day (despite 5 missed texts from me the night before, showing I was clearly concerned he wasn't answering me). I figured he was either in the hospital, dead, or ghosted me, all not things that sat well with me. His response was that he didn't feel good and he's just been out of it (20 hours later). Meanwhile I had already accepted that he ghosted me, cried, and was trying to move on that it was probably happening.
I was so upset when he sent that message and made me create all of these stories in my head. Why couldn't he have the decency to give a warning and say hey, I'm not feeling good I'm gonna go off the grid for a day or so? I would have been perfectly at peace with that. So I went total anxious attachment/ape shit. I realize it now, I know I made a mistake. I went on and on about how that was an unacceptable excuse, he didn't seem to show any remorse for putting me through that pain for 20 hours and making me cry myself to sleep, I said that believing this was real was stupid of me and that it was all fake (thinking he just love bombed me the whole time).
So I definitely showed a crazy and pathetic side of me. I'm not sure he has any respect left for me, but we finally had a phone call a couple of days later agreeing that I need to just lessen my expectations for our communication (we are long distance, but in the beginning, it was much more frequent and then just sort of fell off of a rock, which is what shocked me). So we agreed that we just can't be together right now, the distance isn't working, but when he is ready to come and see me, he can. We haven't talked since that conversation on Tuesday. I'm not sure if he is going no contact because of how I acted, or if he is truly just giving us space until he is ready to come and visit.
I feel like I dug myself a hole and he no longer thinks I'm cool for going that level of bat shit crazy. Should I even be waiting for him? Should I just start moving on? We both had never felt anything like it. Should I be upset at all that he didn't work through my anxious attachment at all? I really didn't realize I was overreacting until after it was done and I re read things each day. But I just wish he apologized and reassured me that everything was okay. He just kept ignoring and ignoring, and then giving short answers, until he finally said call me and we hashed out that plan over the phone.

I have 2 teams I’m in the midst of building right now (I’m TB42 and equilibrium 3, having taken a LONG break basically as soon as I first started this account on launch day; I’m also full F2P) - 1 is E0S1 JL, E1S1 Bronya, E1 Pela and E6 Lynx, while 2 is E0 Ratio (with Yanqing’s 5* LC because I accidentally got it), E1 Guinaifen (with Hertacone), E0 Tingyun (with S5 Meshing Cogs), and E0 Gepard (my only other 5, so both teams fully use all my 5 units).
I see from the guides I’ve been furiously catching up on that the above teams seem to be considered decent, but that Aventurine is an excellent shielder specifically for FuA characters like Ratio. Does this mean I should prioritize Aven's banner over Jingliu's now? I should note that I really like Jingliu and specifically returned to HSR just to acquire her. Also, I see that Gepard is apparently okay as a shielder for Ratio - and since I have Gepard anyway, I'd feel a bit wasteful benching him.

P.S. Should I be prioritizing building for MoC/PF (which I understand are endgame, like Spiral Abyss from Genshin?) at my TB/equilibrium level? I am barely able to do just the first node of PF - don't know if it's a problem with me or the resources I have. I am also constantly running out of resources, incidentally - so many things to level and farm, from relics to light cone materials to traces… :(
