2024.05.06 01:14 quemaspuess Do you have a dash cam? Here’s a story of why you need one in LA.

This is a long story. TLDR; a woman hit and ran my car, then I chased her down and she ran me over with her vehicle, but my dash cam captured everything and earned me a fat paycheck.
I was in line recently at an In N Out in the west valley. There was a woman behind me in a 2022 Audi SUV, and apparently she no longer wanted to wait in line, so she pulls around and in the process, hits my Lexus.
She pulled up right next to me and was with her daughter (11 years old). Both of them were visibly rattled, but instead of, you know, stopping like a human being, she slams on the gas and takes off. I also took off and was in hot pursuit. She turns left, which happened to be a dead end, and I park behind her and pinned her in.
At this point, I get out and took a video asking what the fuck is her problem? Is she insane? Her and her daughter are laughing hysterically like it’s a joke. They’re both waving at me and saying “bye bye.” She is backing up and trying to slowly maneuver without hitting my car again. I got in front of her car, she takes off and runs me over. This time, she got away.
I laid there injured in the street in pure shock. I called 911. Over an hour later the police arrive. My injuries were moderate so the paramedics left. I had the woman’s plate and a video of the incident, so the cops ran her info and she lived right around the corner. They went over and said they’d meet me at my house. They come back and they said she was denying everything until they said I had a video. Then she claimed she was in fear for her life because as a male I’m automatically a threat, but the cops laughed because she was much bigger than me. The police said she was intoxicated but they couldn’t do much since she was home and not driving.
The police told me there was nothing they could do. A woman ran me over with her car and it’s on video — nothing. I felt hopeless. But the police did get her information & insurance. I immediately contacted my insurance company and filed a claim that night. I attached the video from my cell phone.
At that point, I forgot about my dash cam. Her insurance was denying everything, but I submitted the dash cam. The next call was them asking how much money I wanted. Since I was injured, albeit minor, I was able to get more. I got run over by a fucking SUV! How we, I didn’t want to go to court and sue. I know I could have gotten a lot more money but I value my time as well, so I took the money and ran. It wasn’t nothing. From accident to money direct deposited into my account was 13 days.
Long story short, without the dash cam I would have been given nothing. I would have an injury, damaged vehicle, and no justice for this entitled bitch. Instead, I limped away with a decent payday and no lasting injuries. GET A DASH CAM.
Edit. Yes. I shouldn’t have done that. I learned my lesson. Adrenaline makes you do stupid shit. AND I have a Rove R2 dash cam.

Is this solar lease a bad deal?
Solar friends! I need advice. I have a house I’m interested in purchasing that has a solar lease. He’s willing to sell the house $110k below market if I take over his solar lease which looks like it started December 2021 so it’s fairly new. Looks like at end of lease it will have cost around $58,000 (with auto pay). I did a rough estimate with research and it seems a similiar 10,000kwh system is $25,000 before federal incentives.
Just looking at the solar, without house discount, that looks really BAD to me, unless there’s something I’m missing.
With house discount I kind of think it’s worth it as it’s kind of a “wash” over the new 22 years I have left to pay off.
BONUS QUESTION: with the labor needed to remove panels, repair roof as it’s their responsibility, and haul outdated solar panels - will the company actually reclaim it or more likely to just leave them on house for free after lease?

2024.05.05 19:52 Resezoolu New to BadgerCare Plus, who has the fastest specialist referral?

Hey all, in a bit of a health care pickle here and would love some guidance on the fastest plans and/or specific doctor's offices available here in Madison. I'm looking for a new primary care provider who can refer me to a specialist who can renew my duloxetine prescription.
I take duloxetine for my chronic fibromyalgia and long story short, my parents recently cancelled my (out of state) health insurance without telling me. I just found out when I used my last prescription refill, so I need to find a new specialist to give me a new prescription ASAP. My previous specialist was a rheumatologist.
I signed up for BadgerCare Plus and it automatically enrolled me in Network Health, with coverage starting on June 1st, but I have until September 1st to change my plan. I know there's a lot of new networks cropping up in Southern Wisconsin so I wasn't able to find any old threads where people had experience with most of these newer networks. Does anyone here have any experience with any of these available HMO plans? I'm specifically looking for a primary care provider who can refer me FAST.
-Anthem Blue Cross Shield -Chorus Community Health Plan -Independent Care (iCare) -MHS Health Wisconsin -Molina Healthcare -My Choice Wisconsin Health Plan Inc -Network Health Plan (currently enrolled in this one!) -United Healthcare Community Plan (have heard there's basically no primary care providers in this network? as well as just a lot of general bad stuff)
Like I said, I know a lot of these plans are pretty new, so if people don't have any experience with any of them, recommendations for specific offices or doctors that are very fast would also be super great. That way I can cross reference myself and see if any of the plans cover those specific offices/doctors.
I'm not very reddit savvy and I'm also dyslexic, so apologies if this is too long or confusing! Thanks for the help
[EDIT] Accidentally wrote that my previous specialist was a hemotologist, he was actually a rheumatologist. Like I said, I'm dyslexic, and also dumb

*UPDATE* On My Stolen E-bike
So the bike so far has not been found, but I am still leaving a little bit of hope that maybe, someday, something will show up, lol. The stolen property was covered by my renters insurance, so I used that money to buy an Onyx RCR, little did I know I was in for a roller coaster of financial hurdles and an eventual dead end to actually recieve my bike, a story for another post. But so sum it all up, basically Onyx Motorbikes the company went bankrupt soon after I purchased the bike in mid February, and I am still trying to find a way to get my money back. Anyway, in mid April, I ordered another bike and started modifying it. So here it is, in all its glory, jeez I despise this company so much, but out of desperation and exponentially growing tiredness of taking the bus to commute every day, I needed to go for it. I am not done modifying it, will be adding in another battery, maybe a larger motor, different head and taillights, a different seat as well and maybe some cosmetic changes. And yes, I have already dropped it, it was a rainy day and surprise surprise, knobby tires can't take corners well. I doubt anyone will get away with stealing my new bike, the first mods I placed were internal GPS and backup GPS for locaters, and automatic/electrical key fob rotor locks, and a handlebar lock. Although, you never know, criminals are percistant.

2024.05.05 17:23 LaLunaMama75 Finding urgent care that takes my insurance

Hi! My daughter is with her dad this weekend and she’s had a rash come up and it’s driving her crazy! I told my ex husband to take her to urgent care to see if they can do something to help her. The nearest place listed on her insurance website is 30 minutes away. Instead he wants to wait until the one in his town opens at 1. But here’s the thing. On their site it says they take Medicaid, but this particular place is not on my daughter’s list of places who accept it. It’s been so long since we’ve used anywhere different I just can’t remember how this works. But I know in my own case a few years ago when I was trying to find a new dr just it lists a particular insurance company on the dr website that doesn’t automatically mean they take your particular plan. I hate when these things happen and they aren’t with me:( any help would be great! Thank you!

Hi everyone,
My brother owns an automatic car, however, I want to learn to drive a manual car. A family friend owns a manual car, so my question is, can my brother be my supervisor if I get learner's insurance on the manual car?
P.S. My brother has held a manual driving license for more than three years, so he can supervise me.

2024.05.05 10:13 crypto_dood film extras casting agency

hi, on my way to buy some bread for breakfast, I saw a film production on Prešernov Trg (Lj). Does anyone know if there is a central casting agency for film extras (background actors)?
I was in over 60 film, TV productions and commercials, mostly for Studio Babelsberg near Berlin, and I thought I could do this here too once in a while.
thanks.
Follow up questions:
1) When I get my first job in Slovenia, I probably need a tax number and health insurance.
I wonder, if I do not yet have a tax number and health insurance, am I automatically registered with ZZZS rule M48 + mini job) and do I receive a new tax number on the first job when the employer reports income to furs, and zzzs or do I have to get a tax-id before my first job, maybe even after I got the Residence registration certificate (Dovoljenje za Prebivanje) ?
2) I do not have found an apartment yet (rich girlfriend with apartmenteither).
So I do not have an address I could use for anything (creating bank account, authorities), are there agencies that provide mail services I could use? Like I'd pay 10€ a month pick up mail once a week.

2024.05.05 09:16 Alteredchaos 📢 Sunday news - here's the weekly news update, thankfully it's been a less explosive week compared to last week!

HMRC warns claimants that it is issuing tax credit renewal notices that may show predicted payments for 2025/2026 that are ‘automatically generated and should be disregarded’
With the last tax credit claimants due to migrate to universal credit within the current financial year, HMRC has advised that around 730,000 renewal notices for 2024/2025 are being sent out from this week and should be received between 2 May and 19 June 2024.
HMRC adds that, while the vast majority of claims will be automatically renewed (indicated by a black stripe on the notice), a small number - fewer than 10,000 in total - will receive a renewal notice (marked with a red stripe) which means that they will need to check their information and renew their claim by 31 July 2024 to ensure that payments continue.
However, despite tax credits being due to end on 5 April 2025, HMRC warns that the 2024/2025 tax credit notices -
'... may show predicted payments for the tax year 2025 to 2026 - these are automatically generated and should be disregarded.'

Call for evidence - Modernising Support for Independent Living: The Health and Disability Green Paper
The Modernising Support Green Paper explores how the government thinks our welfare system could be redesigned to:
'ensure people with disabilities and long-term health conditions get the support they need to achieve the best outcomes, with an approach that focuses support on those with the greatest needs and extra costs'.
The Green Paper sets out proposals across three key priorities to fundamentally reform the system:
Have your say before the consultation closes on Monday 22 July 2024. Full details available gov.uk

Less than 65,000 people with disabilities were helped into work by Work and Health Programme (WHP) in period from April 2018 to November 2023
Responding to a written question in Parliament on the number of people with disabilities the WHP supports into work each year, and the number that will be helped into work by Universal Support, Ms Davies advised that there are three eligibility groups for the WHP - disability, early access, and long term unemployed - and that, in the period up to November 2023, 77 per cent of starts were from the disability group.
Ms Davies went on to provide the following figures for WHP job outcomes in the disability group -
However, Ms Davies also advised that -
'Universal Support will support up to 100,000 disabled people, people with health conditions and people with additional barriers to employment into sustained work per year, once fully rolled out.'
Ms Davies' written answer is available from parliament.uk

DWP research finds little evidence that Sector-based Work Academy Programme has moved claimants directly into employment
In Sector-based Work Academy Programme: Qualitative case study research, published today, the DWP sets out key findings from research undertaken between June and November 2022 to gain insight into how the programme is delivered and the value of the support it provides for employers and claimants.
Note: a DWP guide to the SWAP for employers advises that placements under the programme have three main components -
In relation to claimants' experiences of the programme, the research finds that -
'Overall claimants were positive about their participation in a SWAP, with components such as the pre-employment training considered more useful when it was specific to the end role on offer or wider sector. The work experience placement and guaranteed job interview (GJI) components of SWAP were not consistently offered to the claimants interviewed, and when the GJI wasn't delivered this could be particularly disappointing.'
Turning to outcomes, the DWP says that -
'Claimants reported a range of outcomes from their participation in a SWAP and most of these improved their overall employability (for example, qualifications gained or improved confidence).'
However, the Department adds that -
'There was less evidence from this research that SWAPs moved claimants directly into employment, despite this being a key intended outcome for the programme.'
The Department also finds that -
'For employers, SWAPs could help with job-matching and filling vacancies, however, there was doubt about the magnitude of the effectiveness of the SWAP for employers in terms of the number of vacancies filled.'
The report concludes by saying that, while participants found it difficult to attribute positive outcomes to specific types of SWAPs -
'In general, effective SWAPs were linked to face-to-face training, the delivery of a qualification and the presence of a GJI as part of the offer.'

A significant proportion of new benefit claims are not being processed within planned timescales, the government has confirmed
Government confirms that while more than 96 per cent of state pension claims are processed on time, the figure falls to around 52 per cent for personal independence payment and 40 per cent for ESA.
Responding to written questions in Parliament on the current timescales and the proportion of new claims that have been completed within those timescales each year since 2016/2017, Work and Pensions Minster Paul Maynard outlined that while the clearance times for state pension and pension credit have improved, those for other benefits have all deteriorated -

Benefit 2016/2017 2023/2024 Planned processing timescale
State pension 87.9% 96.2% 20 working days*
Pension credit 71% 77.7% 50 working days
JSA 88.6% 58.7% 10 working days
PIP 85.1% 51.7% 75 working days
ESA 84.6% 39.5% 10 working days
Child DLA 96.8% 3.5% 40 working days
* Within 20 days of state pension entitlement or of initial date of claim if claiming after entitlement has started
Mr Maynard notes that changes to ESA since April 2020, such as a digital claim process and the removal of waiting days (which were never counted in the processing times) means that like-for-like comparisons cannot be made between pre and post-April 2020 figures. He also says that recent PIP performance represents a significant recovery compared to earlier periods (the rate dropped as low as 6.8 per cent in 2021/2022), and demand is significantly higher than pre-Covid levels, despite the devolution of Scottish claims during this period.
Mr Maynard also says in relation to the figures for child DLA that -
'Demand for Child DLA has increased in recent years and is significantly higher than pre-pandemic volumes. During 2020-21 we deferred case renewal activity to focus on processing new claims. Since then the service has had to service both high new claims volumes and the deferred renewal work which has led to longer processing times. We have increased the numbers of staff working on Child DLA to respond to increase new claims volumes, and clear cases in date order to ensure fair customer service.'
Mr Maynard's written answer is available from parliament.uk

Call for evidence - Fit Note Reform
Reforming the fit note is a key part of the Government’s plan to ensure that people get timely access to work and health support.
DWP has issued a call for evidence to seek views of the current fit note process, the support required to facilitate meaningful work and health conversations, to help patients start, stay and succeed in work.
This call for evidence is your opportunity to contribute your insights, experiences, and expertise to the process. Your perspectives are invaluable in helping the DWP better understand the challenges and opportunities.
The call for evidence will be open until 8 July 2024.
Full details on how to respond to the call for evidence, along with alternative formats, can be found on gov.uk

Public Accounts Committee Chair, Dame Meg Hillier, has written to the DWP about the way it recently announced changes to the timing of the transition of income-related ESA claimants to universal credit
In her letter to DWP Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield, Dame Meg stated she was 'disappointed' to learn on social media that there had been a significant change to the managed migration timetable. She highlights that the actual announcement of the change, following the Prime Minister's speech on welfare on Friday 19 April 2024 which presented the change in 'vague terms', seems to have been made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Serious Responsible Owner for UC, Neil Couling, and that -
'The Department for Work and Pensions has not informed Parliament nor has it communicated the change in a way that is accessible to the ESA claimants affected or to the organisations that advise them. This is particularly disappointing given that ESA claimants include some of the most vulnerable people due to switch over to universal credit.'
In addition, Dame Meg notes that the change overtook evidence given by the DWP to the committee as recently as 11 March 2024, and the DWP's failure to update the committee means that sections of its report published in April are based on the now-outdated 2028 transition commencement date. Dame Meg reminds Mr Schofield that -
'As a courtesy and as part of responsibilities to provide information in good faith set out in guidance for accounting officers, we expect departments to inform the Committee when there is a significant policy change relating to an inquiry to which the department has recently given evidence.'
As a result, the letter gives the Permanent Secretary until Friday 3 May 2024 to -
'... provide an explanation of why we were not informed of this policy change and to provide assurance that in future, your Department will keep the Committee informed of significant policy changes which are likely to be relevant to its ongoing inquiries. Please also explain in your letter how the earlier transfer of ESA claimants will be funded, given that the delay to 2028 was made in order to save £1 billion in benefit payments.'
Dame Meg Hillier's letter to DWP Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield is available from parliament.uk

DWP has issued new guidance to local authorities on the removal of the requirement for self-employed people to pay Class 2 national insurance contributions (NICs)
In HB Circular A6/2024, the DWP provides details of the Social Security (Class 2 National Insurance Contributions) (Consequential Amendments and Savings) Regulations 2024 (SI.No.377/2024), which make minor amendments to various social security legislation to implement changes confirmed in the Autumn Statement 2023 to remove liability to pay Class 2 NICs from the self-employed from 6 April 2024.
The DWP advises that in relation to housing benefit -
'The Housing Benefit Regulations 2006 (SI.No.213/2006/) and Housing Benefit (Persons who have attained the qualifying age for state pension credit) Regulations 2006 (SI.No.214/2024) have been amended so that references to Class 2 NICs have been deleted. This means that they are no longer deducted when calculating self-employed net income.'
In addition, the DWP confirms that -
'These changes apply from 6 April 2024 to - new assessments of self-employed net income after that date; existing self-employment cases which should be reassessed from 6 April 2024 - Note: the changes do not apply to any net income from self-employment before that date.'

Household Support Fund grant allocations to local authorities in England for the 6 months to September 2024
Determination made by Secretary of State for Work and Pensions sets out the amounts to be received by individual councils and advises of general grant conditions.
This advises that unless the Secretary of State decides otherwise, local authorities must determine individual eligibility in its area for assistance under the HSF Scheme and the means by which assistance will be provided (whether directly by the authority or through a third party) and use the grant monies as follows -
a. the Authority is to ensure that the grant is primarily allocated to support with the costs of energy (for heating, lighting and cooking), food, water (for household purposes, including sewerage) and other essential living needs in accordance with the Scheme guidance; b. by exception and where existing housing support has been exhausted, the Authority may allocate grant funds to support with housing costs as set out in the Scheme guidance; c. the Authority, during the Grant Period, is to facilitate applications for assistance under the Scheme from individuals who are eligible for assistance in its area; d. the Authority may, in accordance with the Scheme guidance, allocate a limited portion of the grant to fund the provision of advice to individuals that is likely to assist those individuals in meeting their essential living needs in the longer term and complements other assistance provided to those individuals under the Scheme.

Letter from DWP Permanent Secretary points to the population's underlying propensity to commit fraud in explaining why benefit overpayments will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2027/2028
DWP Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield has written to the Public Accounts Committee to explain why he is not able to comply with its recommendation to 'reduce substantially the level of fraud and error in benefit spending'.
In his letter to Committee Chair Dame Meg Hillier, Mr Schofield states there is a range of evidence showing increasing fraud trends in wider society. He cites Home Office data that shows a consistent rise in cases of fraud against organisations over the past decade, highlighting the two most recent years of data (2021/2022 and 2022/2023) each showing an 11 per cent increase, compared to a 5 per cent average increase pre-pandemic. He also notes that police crime data shows -
'... a notable uptick in shoplifting, which may suggest an increasing need to ease financial pressures through undesirable means.'
In addition, Mr Schofield notes that public attitudes towards fraud also appear to be softening, as evidenced by The British Social Attitudes Survey which shows that between 2016 and 2022, the proportion of respondents who said it was either 'Not Wrong' or only 'A Bit Wrong' for an unemployed claimant not to report £3,000 cash from a casual job increased from 16 per cent to 27 per cent.
As a result, Mr Schofield says that -
'Unfortunately, the level of challenge that this increasing propensity for fraud provides does risk preventing the department from being able to make the substantial reductions that we jointly aspire to. I have therefore reluctantly concluded that it would be inappropriate for me, as Accounting Officer, to accept this recommendation over which I have insufficient certainty and control over the department's ability to achieve.'
NB - Mr Schofield's letter was written in response to questions posed by Dame Meg further to the Committee's December 2023 report, which confirmed the DWP's forecast that overpayments will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2027/2028.
Mr Schofield's letter to Public Accounts Committee Chair Dame Meg Hillier is available from parliament.uk

Scotland: The Scottish Government has announced the roll out of carer support payment to ten new local authorities, with national roll out to follow in November 2024
The new benefit, which replaces carer's allowance for claimants in Scotland, was first launched in November 2023 in three pilot areas - Perth & Kinross, Dundee City and Na h-Eileanan Siar (Western Isles) - the Scottish Government says that -
'It will be available in 10 new local authority areas this summer as part of the next phase of the roll-out, starting with North and South Lanarkshire and Angus on 24 June. From August it will extend to Fife, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, and North, East and South Ayrshire and be available in the rest of Scotland in November.'
In addition, confirming that carer support payment, unlike carer's allowance, is available to carers aged 16-19 in full-time 'advanced' education and carers aged over 20 in full-time education at any level, the Scottish Government says that, if approved by the Scottish Parliament, the draft Carer’s Assistance (Carer Support Payment) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024, which introduce the further roll out, will also further extend eligibility to some 16-19-year-old carers in full-time 'non-advanced' education from 24 June 2024.

Scotland: Scottish Government launches consultation on replacing Industrial Injuries Scheme with Employment Injury Assistance
Views sought on how best to deliver the new benefit while protecting the 24,000 existing recipients of support.
The consultation paper notes that there are around 24,000 people in receipt of support under the current scheme, and that it is expected that only 1,000 new applications will be made each year, while around 900 will leave.
The deadline for responding to the consultation is 25 June 2024.
For more information, see Consultation on Employment Injury Assistance next steps from gov.scot

Northern Ireland: President of Appeal Tribunal in Northern Ireland expresses ‘considerable concern’ at number of decisions overturned at tribunal following receipt of further medical evidence
Introducing his annual report for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021, John Duffy also suggests that a proper and thorough functional assessment of claimants can not be carried out over the phone.
For more information, see President of Appeal Tribunal Report on Standards of Decision Making by the Department 2019/20 and 2020/21 from ni.gov.uk

Northern Ireland: Monthly average shortfall between private rents and local housing allowance in Northern Ireland increases to almost £130 for households claiming universal credit housing element
New figures also show that at constituency level the shortfall ranges between £75 and £151 per month across universal credit and housing benefit households.
Note: data on the shortfall between private rents and LHA for households claiming universal credit housing element in Great Britain shows that in August 2023 the average shortfall was £183 per month in England, £145 in Wales and £123 in Scotland.

2024.05.05 06:32 Ixi7311 I’m just tired of doing most of the mental work of running a household and always being treated as the secondary party.

Just got a refund check from Allstate, the insurance company I compared quotes on, signed up for(for at least a decade before my husband), dealt with personally for years, found another company, moved from them, and requested the check. I don’t think they’ve ever spoken to my husband, not once, in all 15+yrs I’ve been with them.
The check was addressed to him alone.
And it’s not the first time. Every time I’ve added any male to my policy, my ex, my brother, my husband, all correspondence automatically changes to their name alone. I’ve contacted them before, twice about this issue, and it’s not worth bothering again since I just left them permanently.
And if it was just insurance, fine. But it’s not. It’s literally everything. Any worker that comes to my house ignores me and tries to talk to my husband first, who generally doesn’t get involved unless I ask him to. I called you, I went over quotes with you, I explained what we needed done or undone, and now you’re just ignoring me because you noticed there’s a pair of testicles in my home? I’ve gotten salespeople coming to my door asking for the decision maker and then getting annoyed that I won’t call my husband down to talk to them, one even insisted that he’ll come back when he got home.
I just want to yell into the void. I’m the damn breadwinner. I plan our futures, I handle finances, I handle most of the external stuff. My husband has no interest in it, he handles the day to day and the stuff I don’t care about. I handle the stuff he doesn’t care about. Why am I, and most other women out there, in charge of keeping households running but never considered important?!

2024.05.05 05:08 Maximum-Falcon7238 Advice on Totaled Jeep

Advice on Totaled Jeep
So I recently posted on here asking your advice if you thought my Jeep was totaled or not. The insurance got back to me and they’re probably going to declare it a total loss and they’re offering me $17,307 for him. He’s my baby and based off the add ons and replacement value I think I can try to negotiate for $21,000. Which really if I could get that, that would cover the cost of repairs which is what I would rather do since I love my boy and he’s unique and mine. I have a light bar, the brush guard, Jurassic park decals that were professionally done, a hard top. It’s also an automatic and crush orange which is not color that is very common, at least in my area. So I wanted your opinions again. Do you think $21,000 is reasonable? And also, on my vin number it says freedom and I’ve looked up freedom package on Google and it’s giving me a bunch of different things on what that entails. So if anybody could give me more clarification on that, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

2024.05.04 21:52 Biryani_life Health insurance for my father (68)

Hello,
I am looking to port my father’s(68, diabetes and no other complications) health insurance from United India (5L), as they are pretty rude when ever we ask questions about the policy or top up options. My father had the insurance from 2016, only ever claimed 10k once. I spoke to manipal Cigna and Care.
Manipal Cigna - prime senior elite: 10L base ( 10% copay) and 30L top up, which costs 40,400 + 7,500.
Care supreme: 10L base but with automatic recharge. Costs 45,000.
Do you guys have any experience with the above or any recommendations to who to go with?
Personal preference would have been with Hdfc’s as I already have policy with them for my mother but it looks like they don’t do one for above 65yrs olds.

2024.05.04 21:33 Hot_Firefighter_4034 Long-term monthly car rental

Are there any local car rentals that will give a really good deal for long-term monthly car rental?
I have one now for $1050 (includes insurance), it's an automatic transmission Terios 4x4, but has nothing automatic (windows, seats etc) & barely makes up steep mountains.

Need help identifying this compound and its cleaning procedures.
Hello!
I'm face with the need to properly clean up a chemical spill in my driveway. My idiot roommate was cleaning out the garage and came across this jug of floor wax(?), left outside on the porch for two weeks without telling anyone, where the container burst and started leaking down to the curb. When I discovered the spill I was immediately met with eye and throat irritation witch has since passed after vigorous showering. Another roommate took it upon himself to help get the container into an airtight bucket for disposal, picking it up with his bare hands and then possibly spreading it throughout out the house.
The spill looked seperated, with some of it being milky white and some of it clear. So far I have sprayed the driveway down with water multiple times and attempted to limit the process of people tracking it in the house, and after this it dried into a clear lump. . The eye and throat irritation hasn't bothered me again as I have made an effort of leaving the house through another exit and I no longer park in the driveway. But going forward, I have a few questions:
-I know it is impossible to determine the composition based on this alone. But can anyone make any assumptions about what I might be dealing with? The only thing I can find on google is that this is probably some kind of floor wax, but nothing on its composition. I was unable to find any listing for this stuff., and the jug doesn't list the chemical compound, likely because it is old enough to mention "asbestos tiles".
-Should I even try to clean the clothes I was wearing at the time? How worried should I be about the spill being spread inside the house on peoples shoes now that it has hardened into a clear lump?
-How much danger could we potentially be in? My cleanup options are limited due to the blase attitude of the rest of the house.

2024.05.04 19:44 Eggman1978 Are there any consequences (tax or otherwise) for just *applying* for coverage through your state's health insurance marketplace?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, this is the first time I've dealt with health insurance.
I filled out the application for coverage through my state's health insurance marketplace because I want to see how the options there would compare to my employer's healthcare plan. I haven't submitted the application yet because I'm basically worried that the mere act of submitting my application will either lock me into something or create some bureaucratic nightmare when I file my taxes next year, somehow.
The last page of the application has a checkbox "to let us automatically enroll you in a $0 premium plan if you're eligible", so obviously I won't check that. But aside from that, are there any consequences to applying for coverage through the marketplace? For example, if I submit the application, but later decide to go with my employer's healthcare plan, will I need to attach a Schedule 420 - Fuck You to my taxes because I was eligible for a plan from the marketplace but went with my employer's plan instead? Or anything else like that?

2024.05.04 18:11 Top_Sweet34 Is my insurance too high?

Hi, I’m 31 and recently passed (less than 1 month) an automatic driving license. I’ve been looking at insurance on a 2007 Vauxhall Corsa. This is insurance group 1 and I’m getting quoted £3200 annual with an £500 excess. This is black box insurance (used admiral website).
Is this a “we don’t want to insure you” quote or reasonable?
Also, If I wait a few months without driving will it go down?
