2024.05.18 23:30 Background_Angle_258 do you really have to be pretty and cute to do kpop?

I keep wondering if i had done kpop whether id actually pass or debut at all. given that its only just started doing western auditions its a shame cause its too little too late for someone my age to debut in kpop, i wouldve needed lots of singing practice or rapping abilities of some type.
why so many younger kids debuting in kpop as well? theres not much for anyone my age to follow these days? if theyre in the militaryi have to wait for them to comeback and even then id still not get to see them perform in person
im neither pretty nor ugly just in between average if you will, im neither talented but never had the chance to try anything of the sorts cause we just didnt have this sort of entertainment from a young age, im neither old nor young therefor do not fit in the bracket of being cute and adorable. i wouldve loved to have done something musicy even if it was only for a short period maybe in an older generation. at first i kept wondering why so many would want to do so much to themselves but i can see the appeal of it for the younger generations who have more entertainment than what i had growing up lol
my other concern is idols have to do much online to connect with their fans further and as much as i like the extra videos they do its really not what id do if i were in kpop, i feel like id do better if it had been any other older generation. like say if kpop had been around in in the 80s since it was around in the 90s i just never heard of it. they seem to have fasicnation with foreigners or foreign sounds but only just started putting actual westerns in their groups recently and you have to be so fluent at korean which i know id fail at. even so id have given it a shot just sadly im in the wrong time or generation to do it and it just seems to have a lot of general problems either with online backlash or some type of negarivity that idols have to deal with again i think those problems would be less if kpop had started from before the internet came about

2024.05.18 23:22 Top_Wave_2122 Going into law school and interested in art and cultural property law - advice?

Hi all, I'm an incoming 1L and while I don't yet have a concrete idea as to the type of practice area/specialty I might want to do, I know I'm broadly interested in art and cultural property broadly. From what I've gathered online, these are fairly niche areas of study/work that seem difficult to break into. Does anyone have any advice for getting into this field of work and what I can do 1L to start working towards that? My school does not have an Art Law society/student org or anything like that so I was thinking of trying to start one either at the end of 1L or start of 2L. I'm assuming I should probably do my best in Property/Contracts and see if I'd be interested in going into those subjects deeper as I realize art law deals a lot of with property, contracts, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

2024.05.18 23:11 Necessary_Western_57 To give you a better understanding - This is what happened with game stop: & What we should do next.

The situation involving GameStop and the hedge funds is a complex and evolving story, influenced by various factors. One of the key elements was the coordinated action of retail investors, organized through online platforms such as Reddit's WallStreetBets. These investors, many of whom were individual traders, recognized the significant short interest in GameStop's stock and collectively decided to challenge hedge funds that had taken substantial short positions.
By leveraging the power of social media and online communities, these retail investors were able to identify an opportunity to counter the substantial short positions held by the hedge funds. Through a combination of buying pressure and a strategic "short squeeze," where the rising stock price forced short sellers to buy back shares to cover their positions, the retail investors contributed to a surge in GameStop's stock price.
This unexpected and rapid increase in GameStop's stock price not only caused significant losses for the hedge funds with short positions but also attracted widespread attention in the financial markets and media. The surge in trading volume and stock price volatility brought significant focus to the dynamics between retail investors and institutional investors, sparking debates about market regulation, trading practices, and the influence of social media on the financial markets.
It's important to note that the specifics of how GameStop's stock price rose so dramatically, and the wider implications of this market event, are subject to ongoing analysis, discussion, and regulatory scrutiny. The situation has highlighted the evolving nature of market dynamics, investor behavior, and the intersection of traditional finance and emerging online communities. 2024.05.18 23:09 Tesa_Tesanovic1988 Welcome to Fusion Teams

Organizing the workforce into fusion teams is one of the ways of ensuring that a firm continues to thrive long into the future. Fusion teams are considered a new method through which organizations manage their workforce by combining business expertise and technology.Organizing the workforce into fusion teams is one of the ways of ensuring that a firm continues to thrive long into the future. Fusion teams are considered a new method through which organizations manage their workforce by combining business expertise and technology.

According to Sutton, the effectiveness of fusion teams is tied to the agile culture it promotes. The rise of fusion teams in the modern-day workplace has been inspired by the need for organizations to adapt to the ever-changing work environment. Managing the changes happening in the workplace necessitates collaboration between multidisciplinary teams, which must work together to address organizational obstacles and develop real-time and effective solutions (Pattnaik and Rashmita, 231). A fusion team by definitions is a multidisciplinary team that combinations technology with analytics and business specific domain expertise. Within the fusion team accountability is shared to ensure business and technology outcomes. As an alternative of organizing work across functions or technology verticals, fusion teams are designed around the cross-cutting business capabilities, business outcomes and customer outcomes they are accountable for. The role played by fusion teams in the work environment is expected to persist long into the future.
Despite their reputation for brutality, pirates ran a surprisingly progressive and equitable ship; it turns out, they were forward-thinking in many surprising and instructive ways.
Collaborations between teams within the workplace, characteristic of fusion teams, are expected to continue gaining popularity as more firms embrace the workplace’s digital transformation changes. According to Alli and Jenni, fusion teams operate like pirates where the employees try to work towards achieving a balance of power. This can best be achieved by ensuring a democratic approach towards decision-making. All the decisions taken in fusion teams mirror those taken on pirate ships where duties and responsibilities are well defined. Each member of the crew is expected to play their part to perfection and contribute to the overall success of the entire ship (Minister). Similarly, for fusion teams, successful collaboration within and across departments often lead to success that all the team members share.
The delay by some companies to go online during the lockdown period of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed a big gap in their operational efficiency. As stated above, some companies had never envisioned a scenario where their staff would have to work from home. Such companies had to wait for the emergence of an unfortunate or adverse event to embrace the work from home model. However, not many organizations managed to adapt, but those that adapted stayed afloat even as many others failed and were eventually forced to permanently close their businesses (Harel 93). A key characteristic of the firms that survived through the COVID-19 period is embracing digital transformation, and such firms are still on course with this paradigm and are using it as a guide into the future (Priyono et al. 104). Digital transformation has continued to play a key role pre, during, and post the pandemic period to ensure that businesses achieve a competitive technological advantage.
Aside from the pandemic, generally, firms need to find new ways of working. According to Gartner, efficiency and time are very important in the modern-day workplace. The importance of these two elements is informed by the fact that the workplace and the marketplace are very competitive- with hyper-competition rife between rival brands and firms. Therefore, products need to be developed in record time, and they must be delivered to the market ahead of competitors. Furthermore, customers’ demands can best be served when the company aligns its production processes with customers’ needs (Kumar et al. 163). Additionally, companies specializing in service provision can also benefit from going digital. Doing this would position them to address the needs of a portion of its customers who are digital natives.
We habitually look upon on renegades and rebels as a menace, NASA’s Johnson Space Center, however, suggests that high performing teams need renegades more than we think. Far from troublesome, they can be a commanding force of shifting organizations towards new futures.
Fusion teams can help future-focused teams serve their current and future customers better. According to Galli and Paola (69), fusion teams, just like pirates on a ship, often operate guided by agile culture. There is increased flexibility in the agile culture environment, which empowers employees to adapt to different changes in their working environment. The agility with which employees in fusion teams work is similar to the agile culture aboard a pirate ship. The crew has to change their way of operations depending on the different circumstances they encounter at sea. Agile practices are important as they tear down the bureaucratic practices that hinder workforce from responding to changes in their environments. Some marketplace and workplace changes are more important than any other culture, especially a bureaucratic culture, which would not allow stakeholders to respond fast enough (Rey 77). Consequently, organizations that fail to embrace agile culture will miss out on the opportunities provided by rapid changes in their operating environments.
The agile culture where fusion teams thrive is also an ideal environment for modern-day employees. Unlike traditional employees who thrived in bureaucratic workplaces, the modern-day employee thrives more in environments that promote greater opportunities to team members. Fusion teams do not have formal reporting structure and they come across quite fluid. Team leaders and team members alike could report to either to dedicated IT departments or business areas outside. Fusion teams are often incumbated within Agile project or scrum teams and progressively adopt product management discipline to manage a capability end-to-end, from strategy development to delivery and continuous improvements.
Fusion teams will continue to contribute positively towards business and organizational success. Such teams operate in ways that are distinct from those of traditional teams. For example, fusion teams encourage employees to innovate while providing them with the space and resources needed. Additionally, employees are allowed to collaborate with their colleagues across departments, making it possible for both tacit and explicit knowledge to flow with ease both horizontally and vertically in an organization. Fusion teams will address the many challenges that employees in traditional teams face. These challenges are the bottleneck of bureaucratic structures that stifle innovation and delay the overall innovation process. By addressing such challenges, fusion teams will ensure that businesses innovate faster and succeed in bringing innovative products to the market before their competitors. Since fusion teams are agile and offer employees a high level of autonomy, it is expected that organizations that embrace them will experience higher employee retention than organizations that stick to traditional teams.
I need guidance for the Pennsylvania Education Certification Test (PECT EXAM) which is grades pre-K - 4. I’ve been studying for months through books, practice tests, online, flash cards, I even bought practice test through the PA official website and I still failed my 1st attempt. My 2nd attempt is at the end of May and I only have until August, 2024 to pass all 3 modules if I want to start student teaching by January, 2025. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated! Are there any secret study hacks?

2024.05.18 22:52 NadiaFrLm Body mechanics course for this summer?

Hi guys.
I'm looking for online course of body mechanics with Maya. I know, animator mentor and animschool are the leaders and actually I consider to take the course this autumn at animschool. And for this summer I won't have lots of time to practice due to the school holiday of my kids, but I still want to practice as much as I can.
Sir Wade propose the course of Initiation to Body Mechanics and that would be perfect, but normally his course should be finished 2 mai and there are no information if he will restart this course or not.
If anyone know other options, I would appreciate any advise.
For now I follow the tutorials on YouTube (like walk cycle) but I would like to follow some structured education.

2024.05.18 22:49 ed0404040 Review of the Article: "Social Media: What Parents Should Know” and Incorporating the 7 Media Keys

Url: https://caringforkids.cps.ca/handouts/behavior-and-development/social_media
Title: “Social Media: What Parents Should Know”
Author: Canadian Pediatric Society
Date Published: August 2023
In society today, social media has become an essential part of staying connected with others. But as children become old enough to have phones and get social media including apps such as TikTok and Instagram, it’s important for parents to know how to monitor their kids' online interactions and keep them safe from its dangers. Social media has some positive attributes that can benefit children and teens, but also has some negative effects that can be harmful. The Canadian Pediatric Society published an article titled, “Social media: What parents should know,” that discusses how social media is used by kids in both good and bad ways and how parents should take steps in keeping their children safe from the dangers of social media.
The First Media Key: Balance
In the book, Infinite Bandwidth, seven media keys are used to describe and interpret the strengths and weaknesses in the media. The first media key of balance relates to eating healthy and using social media. “That’s what eating right looks like: a little bit of everything, more of what’s good for us than what’s bad for us…” (Gan, pg. 27). This example shows that media can be shown to us in moderation because it is not good to consume too much of it. Using balance also allows us to make decisions about whether the media is acceptable for our children. If we practice the virtue of temperance, then we will be able to use this media key to examine and moderate the media and focus more on the good in the world around us rather than on social media.
An example of balance is when the author suggests that parents use parental controls to block certain websites and use time limits on social media. This shows that if we use social media in moderation then we will be healthier. And by establishing boundaries and guidelines we can protect our children from the dangers of overusing social media. Using temperance will allow our children to experience social media in a safe way, but also enjoy and see the beauty in the world that God has created for us that is right at our fingertips.
The Second Media Key: Attitude Awareness
The second media key, attitude awareness, focuses on the virtue of prudence. “With the help of this virtue we apply moral principles to particular cases without error and overcome doubts about the good to achieve and the evil to avoid” (Gan, pg. 47). This media key shows that we are aware that there is both good and bad content on social platforms and we must use reason and our best judgment when discerning the role of each particular form of media.
In the article, we find an example of attitude awareness when the author discusses how we need to see both sides of the media. “Social media can have both positive (staying connected with friends) and negative (lowered self-esteem, making social comparisons) effects on kids’ mental and emotional health” (Canadian Pediatric Society). This shows that parents need to have prudence when looking at the strengths and shortcomings that media can have on their children. If parents examine social media sites using good judgment and wisdom then they will be protecting their children from the negative side of social media.
The Third Media Key: The Dignity of the Human Person
The third media key highlights the virtue of justice. “Justice towards men disposes one to respect the rights of each and to establish in human relationships the harmony that promotes equity with regard to persons and to the common good” (Gan pgs. 62-63). The dignity of the human person key reminds us to respect one another in relationships, especially as children of God. But also to respect our mind and bodies because they too are a part of us and we need to respect and honor ourselves and the bodies of others.
When discussing social media with children, parents need to teach them how to protect themselves and their privacy. One way we can respect each other is to “[p]rotect and respect their friends’ privacy by asking permission before posting a photo or video of another person” (Canadian Pediatric Society). Also, parents should remind their kids that online photos that they post could be used against them. A person’s body is sacred and photos should not be shared containing anything inappropriate or provocative. These parental reminders reiterate the dignity of the human person and teach children to be respectful of their bodies and the bodies of others in what they post online.
The Fourth Media Key: Truth-Filled
Truth-filled is the fourth media key that follows the virtue of fortitude. The virtue of fortitude “strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life” (Gan pg. 79). “Whether we’re creating a misleading picture of our life on Facebook, cultivating an online persona who does what we would never do offline, or simply failing to give credit where credit is due, we’re not using the media in a way that reflects or upholds truth” (Gan pg. 76).
On social media, we must remember that not everything we see is true or real. Parents must teach their children to be aware that even when others are not truthful, they need to be honest and true online. “Remind your children that what they see on social media doesn’t always reflect reality, and help them find joy in offline activities” (Canadian Pediatric Society). If we teach them fortitude and strength of character, then they will be able to overcome the obstacles like lies or fake personas on social media that may lead them away from being truthful in real life.
The Fifth Media Key: Inspiring
The fifth media key, inspiring, shows us the best in the media and that it does have a good purpose. By using the virtue of hope, we will be able to “desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit” (Gan, pg. 95). God wants us to live a good life full of happiness and love. If we practice hope then it will inspire us to do good in our everyday lives.
There are many negative effects of social media but there are also many positives as well. Children can use social media in ways of “connecting with others, messaging and chatting, and joining groups. For youth with disabilities or chronic conditions, peer support groups can provide a safe place to meet others with shared experiences, and can help rescue social isolation” (Canadian Pediatric Society). This gives children hope and allows them to partake in the good life that God has promised us. Using social media in positive ways shows us the best of this form of media and allows us to understand its purpose in our lives and society.
The Sixth Media Key: Skillfully Developed
The virtue that connects with the sixth media key is faith. Having faith is not only limited to yourself, but also having faith for those in the media. We must educate ourselves in new technology and experience advancements throughout our world. This will shape us to “learn how to recognize and create media that meets the culture’s expectations for what constitutes skillfully developed products” (Gan, pg. 102). If we see this skillfully developed media with faith as our guide then it will allow for us to make a better judgment for us and our children in the future.
“Social media apps are designed to keep people online as long as possible. Constantly checking for ‘likes,’ followers, and messages can lead to unhealthy behaviors and mood changes” (Canadian Pediatric Society). If parents skillfully develop guidelines for media and technology and understand its role in society, then they can set limits and restrictions to minimize its risks for them. Social media is out there, but if parents educate themselves about it, then they can curb its negative effects and instead put their faith in the positive effects for their children.
The Seventh Media Key: Motivated by or Relevant to Experience
The motivated by or relevant to experience media key follows the virtue of charity. “The practice of all the virtues of animation and inspired by charity, which…upholds and purifies our human ability to love, and raises it to the supernatural perfection of divine love” (Gan, pg. 128). Our love allows us to use charity to motivate us into action to protect and care for each other.
“Set a good example by following the rules you set for online behavior. Ask them before you share anything about them” (Canadian Pediatric Society). This quote tells parents what they can do to set a good example for how their children should be behaving online. This media key shows us that our own experiences have an impact on our children and their thoughts and behaviors. If what parents reflect in their social media posts is good and wholesome then when their children get social media they will have an admirable example to follow.

2024.05.18 22:45 playaji83 ISD Dakar Senegal - Avalanche coming soon...

This post is to keep the international community updated on what is currently going on at The International School of Dakar (Senegal). Since this website seems to be the best vehicle to share information to educators around the world I'm choosing to write on here for the first time.
PLEASE BE AWARE (Especially if you are coming to work at this school next academic year) that the current director is being pushed by the community (parents, students and staff) to step down! The community is dissatisfied with his leadership and the board of trustees' complicity in enabling his poor decision making. This director is not focused on upholding high quality education and building a stronger community/identity, but rather on the appearance of the school for accreditation and online (hired an overseas marketing/strategy leader for the next school year when this was not a pressing need for the school based on location and demographics). The (almost) entirely new administration working alongside him have also been blindlessly following his directions without speaking up due to fear. The board of trustees are subservient to him and protect him rather than hold him accountable. Teachers are refusing to nominate themselves to be faculty representative next year as he has instilled fear in staff to not speak up for the wider community's needs. It would be no surprise if a new teacher next year would have to take on that role (the same way practically all new incoming teachers are given the new team leadecoordinating positions next year due to most long-tenure teachers being gone). He has consistently refused to answer questions from staff AND parents during meetings about the culture of silence and the lack of transparency from him and the board of trustees. Often adopting an aggressive and angry demeanor when asked reasonable questions, his behaviour has many people of the community worried...
This year's parental satisfaction survey results are mediocre with a very small percentage of ISD parents who would recommend this school to a colleague or a friend... The data for student and staff satisfaction surveys has yet to be released to the community. The school has over 30 employees leaving next year due to so many people choosing to not renew their contracts. Although the administration tries to excuse this by saying that it is "the nature of international schools for teachers to come and go", please know that teachers are leaving because of the toxicity of the environment and the lack of competence from this new administration. Staff dread school-wide meetings and avoid all celebrations off campus due to not wanting to be around the administration.
Parents have complained this year about the school's environment being a facade... Smart enough to look ahead, teachers are leaving for their mental/physical wellbeing and to avoid the avalanche coming soon...
*Lastly, it is important to note that this director has a history of short serving in international schools as he was also pushed out of his previous school (after only 2 years) due to inequitable and poor treatment of school staff. Under his leadership, the quality of education at ISD will decrease and students will pay the biggest consequences. It's a true mystery how such a wonderful school could have landed in his care...*

2024.05.18 22:43 Alcianbleu [UPM] How well are the lab facilities and chem classes under BS biochem?

I got accepted to BS Biochem in UPM for this coming s.y. I have never been inside UPM since I took my UPCAT in Diliman. I just want to ask the opinions of UPM students (specifically from the same course/under CAS), how well do they facilitate classes and maintain the laboratories?
Laking hirap naman ako so I'm asking about the campus, not because maraming akong naririnig at nakikita online (galing din sa mga isko/a ng up HAHAHEHA) about the outside appearance of UPM. I'm asking because I want to have hands-on experience and practical knowledge when it comes to labwork. And for that alam kong big deal ang lab facilities and equipment. Yun lang naman.
P.s. afaik, walang pa-open house ang UP schools prior to the enrollment (?) So I'm worried na di ko muna makikita yung environment inside CAS before I make a big decision.

2024.05.18 22:42 JustDiscoveredSex Opinion These torchlit young marchers helped to save American democracy

(Copypasta from the Washington Post that I thought the group might find interesting.)
They called themselves the Wide Awakes. They are a lesson in building a political movement.
Opinion by Jon Grinspan May 14, 2024 at 5:30 a.m. CT Washington Post Jon Grinspan is curator of political history at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and author of “Wide Awake: The Forgotten Force that Elected Lincoln and Spurred the Civil War.”
They called themselves the Wide Awakes: one of America’s largest, weirdest and most consequential political organizations, now nearly forgotten. In Boston, many had escaped slavery. In St. Louis, many were radical German immigrants. In D.C., their rallies mixed Yankee federal clerks with sons of Southern families. In Connecticut, where they got started, they were working-class kids with shady political backstories. And in 1860, this diverse coalition of young Americans drew the line against slavery and help to elect Abraham Lincoln.
Their success can tell us a lot about cobbling together a coalition in a fractured, tribal, distrustful age.Clad in militaristic black capes, marching by torchlight through America’s cities, the Wide Awakes alarmed the Southern aristocracy of enslavers — which was exactly what they hoped to do. The movement drew its mammoth size and unnerving force from the resentment many Americans felt toward “Slave Power”: the wealthy planters who pushed to expand slavery and brutally suppressed opposition.
Started by a few kids barely old enough to vote in February 1860, the Wide Awakes were believed to be half a million strong by August of that year, with companies from Maine to California, Virginia to Kansas.
To understand how shocking this coalition was, we need to rethink the politics of antebellum America.
Instead of a nation split between the absolutes of Slavery and Freedom, most Americans fell somewhere on a spectrum between the two. Just 2 percent of the population in 1860 actually enslaved anyone, and those Americans trapped in slavery made up another 12 percent of the nation’s men, women and children. That left 86 percent of Americans who were neither enslavers nor enslaved. Some enthusiastically supported slavery, while others prayed for the practice to end. But most — especially among the large northern majority — found slavery distasteful while also objecting to what they saw as the radicalism of Abolition.
Caught in the middle, this majority bounced from party to party, explaining much of the tumult of mid-19th-century politics. Enslavers skillfully exploited the unsettled situation and spent the 1850s demanding more slave states, the right to keep enslaved people even in free states, the prohibition of speech and writing against slavery, and a requirement that free states assist in hunting fugitives.
This outsize influence was backed by real and threatened violence, from the plains of Kansas to the halls of Congress. “I have no objection to the liberty of speech,” sneered Alexander Stephens, the future vice president of the Confederacy, so long as “the liberty of the cudgel is free to combat it.”
The moderate majority began to feel as though slavery was at war with democracy, trampling upon their own rights along with the rights of the enslaved. Young people decided they’d had enough.
A gawky 19-year-old textile clerk, Edgar Yergason, started it all. “Fastidious” about his clothes, Eddie prepared for a torch-lit rally of the anti-slavery Republican Party on Feb. 25, 1860, by fashioning a shiny black cape to protect his new coat from dripping torch-oil. Yergason’s fellow clerks made capes, too. This oddly uniformed corps led a march through Hartford that night, while their friends beat back a mob of proslavery Democrats. Proud of their costumes and their fighting skills, Eddie’s friends met in a dingy third-floor apartment to formalize their association. After selecting a brawny 27-year-old leader for their “captain,” they cast about for a name. One fellow shouted: “Why not name it ‘Republican Wide Awakes?’” It was time that they wake up to the threat slavery posed to democracy.Their “army” of young civilians — clerks and farm boys and apprentice blacksmiths — spread from coast to coast. Uniting in “companies” drilled by “captains,” young people joined together, energized by this militaristic sense of awakening. In an age of rowdy, boozy politics, the Wide Awakes stood out for their stoic, silent midnight marches, not exactly fun but stirring and spectacular. In an age of chaos, their discipline sent a political message.
Wide Awake companies fought as bodyguards for Republican anti-slavery speakers, escorting Lincoln and many others. Bloodied young men, still in their signature capes and caps, sat onstage at rallies as proof of the antidemocratic forces aligned against them.
This anger joined strange bedfellows. Before 1860, teetotaling Yankee abolitionists disliked beer-drinking German radicals, who hated Know Nothing gang members, who shunned African American fugitives, who distrusted antislavery Southerners. But a shared enmity toward the Slave Power united them all, what historian Henry Adams later called “the systemic organization of hatreds” at the root of politics. Lewis Hayden, who had escaped slavery in Kentucky, led a company of Black Wide Awakes in Boston in the same movement as the nastily racist Frank Blair Jr. in St. Louis. Some Wide Awakes were truly admirable, others quite distasteful, but all were united under Yergason’s cape design.
The Wide Awakes claimed to have “no warlike intentions,” but Democrats were skeptical. In the North, Democratic newspapers legitimately worried that “politico-military” clubs would mean “our elections will become pitched battles.” Across the South, panicked newspapers spread wild, violent rumors. One ex-governor told Virginians that they would soon be “cut to pieces by the Wide Awakes.”
On Election Day, club members woke up communities with 5 a.m. fireworks, then marched to the polls. Turnout was high: 81 percent. By the end of the day, Lincoln had won an unusual victory, taking nearly 60 percent of the electoral vote but less than 40 percent of the popular vote in a four-way race. This awkward mandate meant that for all the Republicans talk of “majority rule,” no one could really bring unity, or even basic agreement, in such a fractured land. But the Wide Awakes lit Lincoln’s plurality with torchlight, until the movement’s shadow loomed larger than the actual Republican Party.
Many agreed with the New York Tribune’s assessment that the Wide Awakes were “the most imposing, influential and potent political organization, which ever existed in this country.”
As the nation spiraled toward the Civil War, Wide Awake clubs armed as paramilitary forces, who did some of the first fighting in the conflict. And their members enlisted in huge numbers in the Union Army that finally killed slavery.
Today, progressive activists online sometimes name-check the Wide Awakes, styling them as woke heroes from the past. But they were really something more complex — and more thrilling: a genuine coalition of people who couldn’t agree on much but who marched side-by-side against the greatest threat to democracy.

The likelihood of passing depends on a variety of factors, including the quality of your preparation. In this blog, we’ll explore how taking a comprehensive Drivers Ed course, such as those offered at Get Drivers Ed, can significantly increase your chances of success.

Understanding the Driving Test

The driving test is designed to evaluate your ability to operate a vehicle safely and effectively in everyday traffic conditions. It generally consists of two parts:
The Written Test: This assesses your knowledge of road signs, traffic laws, and driving safety information. Passing this test is crucial as it demonstrates your understanding of essential driving rules and regulations.
The Road Test: This is a practical, behind-the-wheel test where you must demonstrate your driving skills, including vehicle control and adherence to traffic laws. This part of the test evaluates your real-world driving capabilities and your ability to respond to various traffic situations.
Factors That Influence Test Outcomes
Several factors can influence your likelihood of passing the driving test:

Success Stories from Get Drivers Ed
Many of our students have transformed from hesitant learners to confident drivers. Take, for example, Sarah, a 35-year-old who had never driven a car before enrolling in our Adult Drivers Ed.
