2024.05.19 02:27 Royal_Use_5957 How do I help?

Hello everyone. I’ve come to Reddit as a resort to not knowing where else to go. For context, I’m a 25 year old college student living at home with a father who has prostate cancer. He was diagnosed about two years ago after prolonging his doctors visit for body pains after assuming it was pain from a prior car accident. By the time he finally went, he was already stage 4. I’ve had other family members who have had different forms of cancer, so, I’ve seen the physical and emotional toll that accompanies having a sick family member. However, I’ve never experienced something like this that’s this close to me, witnessing the decline in health day-by-day.
I’m writing this post because I feel absolutely helpless, and I’m not sure what more I can do. He’s currently a vegan, and we’ve tried herbal remedies (sea moss, black seed oil, sour soup leaves, etc, with no results. We’ve tried alkaline dieting but found that it’s hard to maintain, especially when he becomes deficient in nutrients. He’s lost 50+lbs in two months because he cannot keep any food down. And as we speak, he is in excruciating pain. The cancer spread to his bone and there’s multiple tumors in his spine and skull. The doctors have put him through multiple treatment’s and medicines like xtandi, pain killers, chemo, etc. Just seems like there’s nothing that’s keeping his psi levels down. I can’t help but to blame the overall American health care system when he’s taken all these treatments with no results, and the immunotherapy Keytruda treatment that could help save his life is denied by insurance.
I mentioned my age and that I was a student because I am not established with a career yet, and I have no clue on how to handle any of this emotionally and financially. I have a job that makes me about a little under 3k a month, it’s not much, but I can’t leave my job because it’s paying for my university tuition. After all expenses (rent, insurances, groceries, etc) I can’t help out any more financially. Ive cut back on useless spending, going out/eating out, and am starting to get into debt ($1.5k) after helping with family expense’s. I’ve thought about picking up another job, but I’ve been doing 15 credit semesters to try and hurry my graduation process (about 1 year left) so I can get a career to help my parents out. The workload is a lot, I shamefully admit that I have to abuse my ADHD medication just to keep up with work, caretaking, and school. I feel horrible even talking about my problems, but emotionally I cannot handle this. I don’t sleep often because of school and the anxiety over the possibility my father will passes. If he passes, I don’t even know how my mother and I will manage. My mother and step father just got married over a year ago, and after all my mother has gone through, for her to finally find her person and to lose him so soon breaks me.
This whole situation isn’t about me, so my problems are way less important compared to the life of my father. That’s why this feeling of helplessness is unbearable because it’s not a matter of wanting to do more, I need to do more for the sake of his life and my mom.
I ask for your advice and opinions on whether I should pause university, and strictly focus on a job that could sustain my family better, or continue with school and pick up a second job and just try to make it work? How does dealing with a sick family member manage emotionally? Also, if there’s any possible resources for prostate cancer treatments, and any sources that can help with the finances? Thank you so much in advance. I wish nothing but good health and a happy life to all of you regardless if you respond or not.

2024.05.19 00:33 AliciaMelody23 Night guard insurance problem

I made a night guard last month. I paid about $100 for total cost of $300 as the dental offices estimate. I got an EOB saying dental insurance company doesn't cover for $200 because the dentist didn't submit a perio chart. I don't think my dentist took a perio chart. Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount I need to pay? I didn't know there is a requirement and I guess dentist office too. Is it common? I made the night guard, because the dentist recommended after he saw my receding gum.

2024.05.18 23:56 MoonCollision73 My family drives me insane.

So I, 22 M, have a pretty messed up home life, I'm visually impaired and the nearest city is a dozen or so miles from our house, my mom is the only person who drives and because of my disability I can't work most jobs, so getting around is rough.
I am trying to get my GED though but with little progress, I was pulled out of middle school at 13 essentially forced to drop out because my father was afraid his abuse toward his family (me and four others) would be discovered by authorities or our schools would get involved.
He then trapped me into living with him through the covid-19 pandemic until 2022 just before I turned 20 where I moved into a friend's house who soon betrayed me and left me on the streets. From there I was on the streets for about 3 months until I was able to fly out to live with my older brother who put his hands on me and got me kicked out of my next place to live after only 3 weeks of living there. And then lived in a homeless shelter until flying a couple more times and ending up with my mom, whom my father's side of my family had brainwashed me all my life to believe she was a horrible person, in truth she's not the greatest but she is much better than they made her out to be.
Now I've been living with her for a while, but things couldn't be worse, due to a volatile relationship between my mom and my little sister, my little sister ended up crashing two cars and landing my mom and stepdad and massive credit debt, everything came to a boil when she went off on Christmas and got herself kicked out, my little sister was the only other person in the house who could drive as my stepfather is out driving big rig trucks all over the country.
So now it's me and my mom, but then my little brother goes and gets himself kicked out of his college dorms, but thankfully he's now getting paid himself and we've banded together as far as finances go but that's not what I'm here to complain about.
My mom, 41 F, goes to work nearly all the time because she's trying to pay off the crippling debt her daughter left her with, leaving me and my younger brother (20 M) to do chores around the house and occasionally babysit our younger step brother (9 M).
Things can get pretty hectic and you have to add to the fact that we live in two separate buildings, have over a dozen pets to take care of on the daily, and we both have our own separate chores we have to take care of individually.
For example I have to wash the dishes, make sure the kitchen is clean, take out the trash and take the trash out to the curb once a week before pulling it back in the next day so that we can start loading more trash into our cans (God forbid I forget to do so where it's a shitstorm), additionally since I live in a separate building I have to clean half of it which is pretty big but mostly it's just some random food trash laying around although on the occasion we do have large amounts of styrofoam and boxes as we get a lot of packages, our space is also cramped and my brother barely ever cleans his space because he can't focus on cleaning with ADHD that I get but it is annoying as I have OCD and can't stand dirty spaces, that brings me to another problem of his, he barely ever does his chores and since he doesn't do them I'm basically the only person who can pick up the slack so I have to start doing his chores sometimes, cleaning his side of our building, cleaning the bathroom cleaning the floors ETC.
We also have to do our own individual laundry and I want you to note that I haven't even gotten into the biggest issue, we have three dogs but one of them is out on the road with my stepfather so we have two dogs to take care of but one of them is large and mostly untrained so she poops in her cage most of the time, we have to clean this up as well as let her out 3 to 4 times a day so that she can use the bathroom as well as feed her and let out the other dog with her who barks his head off and we have to ignore him until he shuts up because if we teach him that he can just bark to get his way out of the cage he'll never stop doing it and it's obnoxious, then once he shuts up we let him out and then we have to make sure that they both been out for at least 15 to 20 minutes each time, there's three cats in the back of the house that need to get fed and watered every day, watered multiple times a day sometimes, when our little brother isn't here we have to take care of his ferret which isn't hard but it's still a task, then you've got our mom's two birds who have a specific diet so getting them fed is a bit of a hassle, she has a tortoise but we don't usually have to check on that, then there's two cats in my mom's room that we need to go and feed individually, any pet due to your pee we have to clean up as soon as we find it obviously cuz that's gross, and she also has two snakes but we don't take care of them cuz she does, and then you have my cat and my little brother's cat who live in our building with us and we have to feed and water them once a day sometimes we have to water them multiple times a day because our cats are weird and love to drink water.
I think you can see where I'm going with this.
We have a crippling amount of chores to do and again that doesn't even cover everything, occasionally we have to go out in the yard and pick up sticks and branches because they like to blow everywhere with the Wind, and we've even had to drag entire fallen trees over into the backyard as well. Then there's the asinine rules that we have to follow. Some of them just don't make sense so I won't get into all of that cuz sometimes it just makes me too angry to think about.
We both pay rent and do our chores as a form of compensation for letting us live here past 18, I mean wow my brother does College from home and I'm still studying to get my GED but like I said due to Transportation issues progress is a bit stagnant at the moment.
I am thinking of doing my stuff online.
But besides the crippling number of tasks and odd jobs we have to do around the house on the daily I also have insomnia that I've never been able to control. My sleep patterns have never been normal and I'll always wake up at a different time every day sometimes sleeping through the majority of the morning and afternoon.
And then when I wake up at say 4:00 in the afternoon I feel guilty because I didn't end up getting anything done, then my lazy ass little brother who didn't do shit wants to sit there and complain to me how nothing got done even though I'm already beating myself up mentally because I slept too long and I know it's my problem, I've tried so many different methods whether it be medicine, herbal remedies, scented candles, soothing music, even tried changing my diet to fix my sleep but nothing helps, I might be able to have a normal sleep cycle for about 4 to 5 days before it ends up messed up again, and so here we are my little brother is complaining again about how nothing got done even though he could have done stuff on his own, and I'm left here to feel like shit while he berates me and I beat myself up at the same time, but to make matters worse my mom only complains all the time about the stuff that we didn't manage to get done and never thanks us, recently though that's changed a bit and she started thinking us although it's rare and I'd like to think that she's making progress and changing so I appreciate that from her but my little brother does not make it any easier, I've even tried sitting him down and having an honest conversation with him multiple times I even did it today but every time I get the same answer "I don't want to talk about this shit i don't care" needless to say my family is driving me insane and I need advice.

2024.05.18 23:11 albertohair umm...I had my first good experience at the dentist in Regina

I've had a rough time with dentists, especially in Regina. One told me my gums were receding and to brush more gently, while another scolded me for not brushing hard enough. Some praised my teeth, others accused me of lying about flossing. Some were overly aggressive, and some didn’t do enough.
Even worse, a dentist outright lied, claiming I had three cavities when I didn’t. They drilled so much that I fainted from the pain. A year later, a filling failed, leading to an emergency root canal. The tooth was in such bad shape that no amount of novocaine worked; they had to saw off half my tooth, and I burst into tears when the nerve was exposed.
But my most recent appointment was amazing...Pasqua South Dental in Regina. They used a different tool (not sure what it was) for the cleaning, the were extremely gentle, and kept me very calm and relaxed. It was like heaven. They said my gums were very healthy, my teeth were fantastic, and they gave real advice without being condescending. The dentist (doctor barker) provided a plan for reducing the swelling and explained everything clearly.
I’m usually a nervous dental patient, but now I'm ACTUALLY looking forward to my next six-month appointment...LOL! For those of you who struggle like I did, good dentists do exist. Just thought I’d share :)

2024.05.18 21:32 PlusAcanthisitta9562 Studying Herbal Medicine in Western Europe

I just returned from Paris, and I was amazed to see the plethora of herbal options available in pharmacies around the city. I live in the US and have been studying herbalism in community and solo, but there’s a clear separation between herbal medicine and our healthcare system. In general, it seems that the French healthcare system (along with other systems in European countries) take seriously the value of herbal remedies in treating ailments and aiding health. Does anyone know of programs abroad - in Europe in particular - that offer deep dives for an American to travel and learn about herbal medicine? Also curious if there’s an intersection between herbalism and death work as well.

2024.05.18 08:38 drchitra What are the common treatment options for fibroids?

Treatment options for fibroids depend on various factors such as the severity of symptoms, the size and location of the fibroids, the patient’s age, and their desire for future fertility. Here are some common treatment options:
Watchful Waiting: If fibroids are small and not causing symptoms, the doctor may recommend regular monitoring without any active treatment.
Medications:
Pain Relievers: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage mild pain.
Hormonal Therapy: Birth control pills, hormone-releasing IUDs, or GnRH agonists may help control heavy bleeding and pelvic pain associated with fibroids.
Tranexamic Acid: This medication can help reduce heavy menstrual bleeding.
Non-invasive Procedures:
Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE): A minimally invasive procedure where the blood supply to the fibroids is cut off, causing them to shrink.
MRI-guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS): This procedure uses high-intensity ultrasound waves to destroy fibroids while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.
Surgical Procedures:
Myomectomy: Surgery to remove the fibroids while leaving the uterus intact. It can be performed through open surgery, laparoscopy, or hysteroscopy.
Hysterectomy: Surgical removal of the uterus. It’s a definitive treatment option for fibroids but also eliminates the possibility of future pregnancies.
Endometrial Ablation: This procedure destroys the lining of the uterus and is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding caused by small fibroids.
MRI-guided High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU): Similar to MRgFUS, this technique uses ultrasound waves to destroy fibroid treatment .
Herbal Remedies and Supplements: Some people explore herbal remedies or supplements like green tea, chasteberry, or turmeric, although their effectiveness is not scientifically proven.
It’s essential for individuals with fibroids to discuss their symptoms and treatment options with their healthcare provider to determine the most suitable approach for their specific situation.

2024.05.18 04:21 bbclarinets Going to the dentist after 12 years

Hi yall.
I guess I just needed to get some stuff out and maybe I’ll feel a little better.
Probably 12 or more years ago, I had a bad experience at the dentist that left me with a huge fear.
I’m 24 now. So I was about 11 or 12. I went in for my regular cleaning and was getting x-rayed for possible braces.
I have dental crowding, receding gums due to lack of care and an extra tooth that grew in front of my bottom teeth..
My most noticeable crooked tooth is my front one. The girl noticed and when I went to bite down on the thing. I’ll never forget her facial expression and the words that came out of her mouth.
“Oh my god! Your teeth!! They are so horrible!! You poor thing!”
Now being 12 and my biggest insecurity being my teeth. It shocked me to my core. And has always been in my mind.
I never went back.
My mom brought up the courage to make us go back, and what do you know? The only place that takes my insurance is the place where I got insulted.
I know a lot had changed in 12 years but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Our appointment got moved up to Tuesday and I haven’t felt such anxiety in a while. I want to cry and throw up.
I’m scared of how they will treat me or react to the fact that I haven’t been in 12 years. Plus my lack of care, probably due to my subconscious thinking of that comment.
Maybe I’m just overreacting.
Thanks for reading.. :)

Hi I've had undiagnosed urticaria for some time now I didn't know I had it but sometimes it came once or twice a month. Last Friday my boyfriend had a heartstroke and it was very tough on me mentally speaking I was very devastated but I think it triggered a very intense urticaria. Today I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with urticaria and gave me some medicine I'm also complementing with some herbal tea that helps with circulation. Is there a home remedy that I can use to calm the itching? It has been hell these past few days but at least my boyfriend has healed well ❤️‍🩹

2024.05.17 19:54 jacjoro Periodontal Disease and Wisdom Teeth

Periodontal Disease and Wisdom Teeth
Hey everyone, I’ve been following this page for a couple months now as I noticed my gums receding and bleeding a lot at the beginning of March when I quit smoking cigarettes. I quit cigarettes due to other things happening in my body that I’m still being tested for and the doctors have not been able to find answers as to what is going on. I’ve had tests for autoimmune diseases etc but all negative so far - my next specialist appointment will hopefully have next steps for other tests. Anyways, a few weeks later the recession and bleeding continued to get worse even though I was making sure I brushed twice a day, flossed and used Therabreath. Around the end of March/beginning of April - I finally went to an emergency dentist near me as I was experiencing some symptoms of infection and got really scared. The emergency dentist labeled it as gingivitis and a gum infection - I finished a course of Amoxicillin (3 pills for 7 days, 21 pills total) and the bleeding stopped and I got better. I’ve been reading a lot about the influence on wisdom teeth gum disease, oral health and health entirely so I finally set up an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed in a couple weeks. I had a cleaning and X-rays completed April 16th, they did scaling and a deep cleaning and that dentist said it’s likely the beginning of perio but didn’t want to take measurements etc until my follow-up in July once the inflammation has gone down more. I’m worried this dentist underestimated how bad it is as it seems very bad to me - I have lost so much bone in just about three months since this all started when I quit smoking. I guess I have a couple questions - how bad is this really (I’m only 25)? Could it be worse because of my wisdom teeth or an underlying condition in my body? I know the answer to both of those are basically yes but I’m looking for people’s opinions, comfort, advice, anything really :). This has been ruining my life tbh LOL on top of everything else; I’ve cut sugar down a ton, quit smoking everything like I said, I brush twice sometimes three times a day and floss once I haven’t missed my routine at all I n three months, I rinse with CDXL mouthwash and then rotate between Therabreath and Crest (as it has hydrogen peroxide), use Pur gum (and/or xylitol), and rinse with water after I eat anything AND A WATER FLOSSER lmao seriously I’m doing ALL the things but I’ve already noticed more plaque/tartar buildup since my cleaning only a month ago so really just wondering if it’s possible other things are contributing to this being such a rapid progression. Xray was taken before deep cleaning which is why so much buildup haha.

2024.05.17 13:56 astrobabag Unlock the secrets of Vashikaran for Love Marriage

Unlock the secrets of Vashikaran for Love Marriage
Vashikaran for love marriage
Vashikaran is the popular ancient Indian method which is usually utilized to make the person's mind and behavior ruler of one's command. The term Vashikaran is a combination of two parts: ‘vash’ meaning ‘to maintain’ and ‘kara’ which imply ‘action’. Therefore, vashikaran is a combination of word to maintain control, influence and attract or ‘kara’ which imply to perform action. Throwing vashikaran into the face of the person so that they become like we want them to be, not more than a possession or an object, is almost like love relationship.
Whereas Vashikaran which can be traced back to antiquity India by rishis or sages who relied on psychic powers as a way of propagating love and unifying relationships amongst people has prospered. Vashikaran can either mean, manipulating someone or controlling the actions of the person. Many of the procedures that are currently with us use mantras, tantras, yantras, charms spells, medicines and rituals to bring around outcomes and purposes.
In modern day the most of people wants love their selves, their need to another , the ex-lovers and many like magic. They are willing to do that in order of making them possessive about themselves, bringing ex back, improving married life, etc and business profit too. In the past years numerous cases of youth demanding for vashikaran to confirm to their romantic loved ones that these should issue edicts and that they should be allowed to marry the ones they love, rather than simply being done by the families.
Vashikaran for love marriage
Indian’s trusty old way is always having arranged marriages for upper class people. The youth of today is a generation that mixes up the uprightness coming from people of different casts, communities, or religions and they fall in love with someone and choose to marry. However, the families don't approve of the union thinking it to be revolting to the cultural barrier. Similarly by doing so, they provide their relatives as the mediators who eventually request the vashikaran to convince the parents of their wards and snuggle the problem of the inter-caste or inter-religious marriages.
The anical remedy can be applied in life when person reluctant to get out of the undesired situation. The minds of obstinate parents from the very family circle are forced to engage in helping methods thanks to mantras and the Buddhist doctrine. Another form of intervention that is used by specialist vashikaran operator who is definitely an expert in this field include a situation wherein even those that are the toughest of the bunch can be rendered amenable by these rites once the session is over. Since the achievements are previous without any harm outside, which is fulfilling at mental level, they are gained.
Some simple vashikaran remedies for love marriage include:There are a few easy vashikaran techniques for love marriage; these comprise:
● Ashastha Ke Lal Kitab Totke hain-Yeh hain ek ashastha astrological hakd kiya khiya hain jo Lal Kitab ke text mein likha hai. Some specific voice instructions are provided for the preparation of vashikaran charms with the help of herbal extracts, amulets, and spells.

Symptoms

Remedies

Mochification

The primary effect of being poisoned by Pecharunt or its minions. Due to the Lousy Three's innate control over poison granted to them by the Toxic Chains, they can use this to influence the minds and bodies of anyone they poison. With Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti, it merely enhances the victim's greed, altering their mental state until the poison is purged from their body. However, Pecharunt in particular uses this curious ability for more malicious ends, due to its higher degree of mastery over poison. People or Pokemon poisoned by it become its thralls, and it often forces them to protect it or steal valuables for it. Its most common way of doing this is by either tricking people into eating "Binding Mochi", a special coagulate of poison that takes effect almost immediately, or force-feeding it to them.
Once mochified, the victim has roughly three hours to expel the poison from their bloodstream: otherwise, it reaches the brain, and the victim becomes mochified permanently until Pecharunt is either knocked out or moved out of range. The victim is only capable of saying variations of "mochi": not only does this bear notable resemblance to Pokespeech, in humans, it can be used as such too. This allows Pecharunt to commandeer Trainers' Pokemon without having to mochify them first, having the mochified Trainer order direct commands for their Pokemon to attack or maim anything that would get in its way.
Mochified Pokemon are noticeably different than humans. They don't perform the "dance" that afflicted humans do, but maintain the glowing purple eyes and dribbling froth, and are shrouded in a ghostly purple aura: to the uninitiated, this may resemble the aura emitted by a Shadow Pokemon. Since they're dribbling more of Pecharunt's poison from their mouth, bites from mochified Pokemon that break the skin may mochify the victim as well. Mochified Pokemon are noticeably dangerous: as they're completely under Pecharunt's control, they will attack anyone and everyone at its discretion. Due to Pecharunt's warped, childish mentality, this often leads to it forcing its thralls to go all-out, seeing them as akin to toys. It uses these enthralled It's not above using this tactic to escape a fight, turning a Pokemon against its own Trainer and fleeing. Poison-types, Steel-types, and certain other species with immunity or resistances to poisons are immune (or at least heavily resilient) to mochification.

2024.05.17 07:35 binggrae_melon_milk How to Manage Severe Menstrual Pain When Nothing Works?

Since my PCOS diagnosis is still quite new, I probably will be coming here a lot for things that I couldn't get the best help on before so I'm sorry if this question seems really stupid.
I have had debilitating period pain pretty much since I was 16, but over the past year, it's gotten way worse. I've fainted because of the pain twice now. On the first day of my period, I can't work, can't leave my house, can barely stand up long enough to make a sandwich. Day two isn't nearly as bad, but I still cry from the pain at times. Day three the pain is 90% gone most of the time.
It's just awful. I don't know why the pain gets that bad. I'm not on any form of birth control at the moment as I had to get hormone testing done and then my OB/GYN left her practice like right after those tests finished. I was supposed to see a new one tomorrow, but I started my period today so I had to reschedule that appointment :(
I just don't know how to manage the pain. I feel like I have tried all the OTC pain medications and they just don't work. I've been given a prescription for Tramadol to see if that helps and even that doesn't do much. It just makes me fall dead asleep for a few hours. Heating pads and heat wraps make the pain worse. Exercise makes the pain go away while I am doing it, but the moment I stop, they come back worse. Herbal remedies have done nothing. At this point I don't know where else to look.
How do I manage period pain when literally everything on Google is telling me exactly what I've tried and failed with?

2024.05.17 06:57 CureEZ_Healthtech Decoding Thyroid Disorders: CureEZ's Innovative Solutions

Thyroid disorders, such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer, impact millions globally. Despite being common, these conditions often go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to their subtle symptoms and complex causes. In today's fast-paced world, the need for effective thyroid wellness solutions is more critical than ever. This blog will explore the necessity for improved thyroid care, the available alternatives, why CureEZ stands out, and real-life examples of how CureEZ has transformed lives.

The Urgency for Thyroid Wellness Today
The Growing Prevalence of Thyroid Disorders
Thyroid disorders are increasingly prevalent, with millions of new cases diagnosed annually. For example, hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland is underactive, affects approximately 5% of the population, with a higher incidence in women and the elderly. Hyperthyroidism, where the thyroid is overactive, affects about 1-2% of the population.
Several factors contribute to this growing prevalence. Environmental pollutants, dietary factors, and increased autoimmune diseases play significant roles. The impact of stress and lifestyle changes in modern society also exacerbates these conditions.
The Challenges of Diagnosis
One of the primary challenges in managing thyroid disorders is accurate diagnosis. Symptoms such as fatigue, weight changes, and mood swings often overlap with other conditions, leading to misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis. Traditional diagnostic methods, primarily reliant on blood tests measuring thyroid hormone levels, may not always provide a comprehensive picture.
Moreover, subclinical thyroid disorders, where symptoms are present but hormone levels appear normal, complicate diagnosis further. Patients often face frustration and anxiety due to the uncertainty and inconsistency in their diagnosis and treatment plans.
The Impact on Quality of Life
Untreated or poorly managed thyroid disorders can lead to severe health complications. For instance, hypothyroidism can result in heart disease, mental health issues, and infertility. Hyperthyroidism can lead to severe complications like atrial fibrillation, osteoporosis, and thyrotoxic crisis if left untreated.
The physical symptoms are only part of the story. The mental and emotional toll of thyroid disorders can be profound, leading to depression, anxiety, and cognitive issues. This multifaceted impact underscores the need for comprehensive, accurate, and accessible thyroid care.

Current Approaches to Thyroid Wellness

Conventional Medical Treatments
  1. Medication: The standard treatment for hypothyroidism is synthetic thyroid hormone replacement therapy, such as levothyroxine. This treatment aims to normalize hormone levels, but finding the correct dosage can be challenging and requires regular monitoring. For hyperthyroidism, antithyroid medications like methimazole or propylthiouracil are used to reduce hormone production.
  2. Radioactive Iodine Therapy: Used primarily for hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, this treatment involves taking radioactive iodine orally to destroy overactive thyroid cells. While effective, it requires careful monitoring and can lead to hypothyroidism.
  3. Surgery: In cases of large goiters, thyroid nodules, or thyroid cancer, surgical removal of part or all of the thyroid gland may be necessary. This option is usually considered when other treatments fail or when there is a suspicion of malignancy.

Natural and Holistic Approaches
  1. Dietary Changes: Incorporating foods rich in iodine, selenium, and zinc can support thyroid health. For hypothyroidism, iodine-rich foods like seaweed, fish, and dairy are beneficial. For hyperthyroidism, a balanced diet avoiding excessive iodine and goitrogenic foods like soy and cruciferous vegetables is recommended.
  2. Supplements: Nutritional supplements, such as iodine, selenium, and vitamin D, can help address deficiencies that impact thyroid function. However, supplementation should be approached cautiously and under medical supervision to avoid adverse effects.
  3. Lifestyle Modifications: Stress reduction techniques, regular exercise, and adequate sleep are crucial for maintaining overall health and supporting thyroid function. Mindfulness practices, yoga, and other stress management strategies can be particularly beneficial.

Alternative Therapies
  1. Acupuncture: Some studies suggest acupuncture can help alleviate symptoms associated with thyroid disorders. It is believed to balance energy flow in the body, potentially improving thyroid function and overall well-being.
  2. Herbal Remedies: Certain herbs, like ashwagandha and guggul, are believed to support thyroid health. Ashwagandha, an adaptogen, may help regulate hormone levels and reduce stress, while guggul is thought to stimulate thyroid function. However, more research is needed to confirm their efficacy and safety.

2024.05.17 02:50 Wallygames Recovery of quitting snus/nicotine pouches

Hello,
I have a question, I have been doing snus for a year now. And my gums have been receding from the start. Just today when I woke up I felt my front teeth feel loose. I have already made an appointment with the dentist, unfortunately the first free space is in 2 weeks. I want to stop now as it is affecting my health, but is the damage done or will it heal over time? And if it heals, how long will it take for my gums to go back to before? Thanks in advance

2024.05.17 01:48 ThrowRA_kindesoe How can I affordably get a gum grafting done?

Hello,
About 3 years ago at the dentist I was informed that I have receding gums, and it would be $1200 per tooth. I do not have dental insurance, only health insurance. They said it was not an urgent matter but something to get done within the next 2-3 years.
Life happened, expenses became expensive, and I did not set aside an extra $4000+ for them to fix 4 of my teeth’s gums. Does anybody know how I can affordably get this done? Is there a chance I can get it covered by medical insurance, since technically there is sedation involved?
Another question, what is stopping me from getting dental insurance, getting my grafting covered, and then canceling the dental insurance eventually? Why do people not do this more often?
Any advice is greatly appreciated on how I can get this done.
