I got diagnosed with gastroparesis in 2010. I had a lot going on back then and was able to get it all under control to the point that I just sometimes take over the counter meds if I have symptoms and just control things with diet. Some days are harder than others, but I manage fairly well.
The thing is, they could never give me an answer as to why I had gastroparesis. There was no source. I’m not a diabetic and I didn’t have any sort of surgery or co-morbid disease that caused it. In fact, gastroparesis along with a hiatal hernia, GERD, and H. Pylori was deemed cause of my S.M.A. Syndrome back then. They just didn’t know what caused it and every new doctor I’ve been to (due to insurance changes, etc.) since then thinks they’re going to make some huge discovery and always send for a bunch of tests. They’re convinced I’m diabetic, have some thyroid issue, or celiac. Everything always comes back negative. And then they’re still shocked I still have it after so many years because it should have gone away already—or at least that’s what they say. Some doctors told me it might be hereditary somehow. But no one in my family has gastroparesis or any symptoms like it.
At the urging of my husband, I started going to doctors to get blood tests to keep tabs on my nourishment and established my first primary care doc in years, who also happens to be his doctor. My doctor took the time and interest to listen to my full medical history and investigate what might be wrong. He was the first doctor to figure out I might have a genetic disorder based on my health history.
I swear seeing a doctor make a mind map of all my conditions was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen but also the most humanizing treatment I’ve felt at a doctor’s office. I felt seen and heard. Tell me why it took so long to find a doctor who would put in the effort to connect the dots…
After he sent me off to multiple specialists, I officially got diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder (along with other things due to that 😭).
After doing a lot of research on my own and discussing it with my doctor, there’s a big likelihood it’s Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) but they refuse to diagnose me with that until I have a bigger medical emergency. EDS is just one of many connective tissue disorders. They told me the care is still the same since it’s all in the same umbrella (they’re taking care of my heart now, too). It’s likely that they don’t want to give me the specific diagnosis so I don’t lose insurance. But that’s neither here nor there.
The reason I bring it up is because while doing some research on my new condition I learned other people with connective tissue disorders including EDS have gastroparesis, hernias, tilted uteruses, etc. I have all of that.
I am 34 years old and I am finally learning why I have all the issues I’ve had since I was a small child. Everything is apparently connected to this diagnosis. It sucks but it’s an answer.
I hope this encourages someone to not give up and continue to seek answers to their medical issues.
TL;DR: I got diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder this year and gastroparesis is a common condition for people with it. I no longer have an idiopathic gastroparesis diagnosis.

I’m (31F) heavily pregnant and had my baby shower today. It was co-ed plus kids, so my husband (32M) and son (5) were there. Everything was great until my son got his fingers slammed in a door. He was playing with other kids his age and a little older in a bedroom right next to the living room where we were. We were all checking in continuously but in between a checking, two of the kids shut the bedroom door and locked it, leaving my sons fingers stuck in the door. I ran as soon as I heard him screaming, and banged on the door, repeatedly telling the kids inside to unlock the door. They opened it but his fingers were badly hurt, one was bleeding and they were turning purple and he couldn’t bend them. I got him and started walking with him to the living room and my husband grabbed him to go get ice and check out the damage.
My kid is like a rubber ball and normally gets over being hurt pretty fast but he cried for over an hour and was clearly in pain. I was literally sick to my stomach. The look on his face and the fact that I couldn’t get the door open and feeling helpless keep replaying in my head. To be clear, I’m not upset at all with anyone involved, kids are kids and it was 100% an accident. My husband didn’t think we needed to but for my peace of mind and the fact that he kept crying for so long, we took him to a walk in ER. At first glance, the doctor said his fingers are ok but we got a message to call back when the clinic opens because the radiologist found something on his Xray.
Hours after this, I was sitting on the couch with my husband and started crying because I keep thinking about the situation and I’m also hormonal. My husband asked why I was crying and I told him the look on my son’s face and the helpless feeling keeps replaying in my head and I just feel so bad. I asked my husband if he got upset at all and he was like “No, I’m not going to be emotional about it. I’m just going to fix it.” He is typically level headed and not very emotional at all and most of the time I get it. But I’m struggling with the fact that our child getting hurt didn’t affect him.
I know that in these situations, my husband will handle it better than me. I didn’t cry or scream or yell during the whole event. I asked my mom if I yelled because I kind of blacked out but she said no, I just firmly asked the girls to open the door but you could hear the panic in my voice. Am I being over-emotional about this? I know this seems like a minor injury but this is the first time my son has ever gotten really hurt. Is there anyone else out there that isn’t very emotional that can give me perspective?

Right, because nothing makes a kid want to pledge a lifelong allegiance to the Republican party like their mom telling them that they have to or they'll turn gay. Also she sent her to Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit college - jokes on you Michelle, the Jesuits are a progressive order who loved the gays! Joke's on you!
In 2017 while serving on the Orange County Board of Supervisors Steel opposed funding for the County's Human Relations Commission, casting the only dissenting vote. But worst of all, Michelle Steel is California's leading opponent of abortion rights. Thank you Michelle, for breaking the glass ceiling of being terrible to women. Bravo! As a Congresswoman in 2021, Steel co-sponsored the extreme Life at Conception Act which would grant legal personhood to fertilized eggs but after blowback from the Dobbs decision in 2022, Steel saw the writing on the wall and withdrew her name as co-sponsor shortly after reintroducing the bill in 2023.
The bravery that these Republicans show when they face the slightest bit of adversity - sometimes it takes my breath away. Now, as of March 2024 Steel now describes herself as an ardent supporter of IVF despite having many times introduced legislation that would have literally criminalized it. Yeah, so she's trying to cover her tracks on her terrible voting record but can't even bring herself to stick the landing. You're not fooling anyone Michelle. Another Eden is now 7 years old which means many stories, characters and an entire world...or rather time periods/timelines that currently exists. So here's the question, what's your Another Eden Hall of Fame ? Both Meta and Non Meta related.
Note: Remember that what I'm about to write is based SOLELY ON MY OPINION but I'm interested to see what my fellow Residents of Time's Forgotten Keep think ! Without further ado, let's start:
This is in part why I'm extremely hyped for Eastern Mythos and I can't wait for it !And Yukino Alter (One of the main things keeping me attached to Another Eden)

Now let's go to the Meta:
* She can tank (Tho not with Guard but with DMG mitigation such as -50% DMG taken, a 2000 Max HP Shield and insane debuffs + Buff END/SPR).
* She can set Earh/Magic Zone (3 Staff users+) and can awaken any zone.
* She can give Magic and Singular Focus.
* She can give Weapon Type DMG and Weakness Multiplier.
* She can give Status and Knockback Immunity.
* She set 3T pain/poison ignore res.
Yes everything I said above is in her kit, what's more is that she can do most of these preemptively and do you know what's more insane ! She's not bound by the Stellar Awakening System !

- Best Story Protagonist (Excluding Aldo): Nona
Another Eden is composed of many stories and they are NOT always centered around Aldo which is the game's protagonist, few examples of that being Deirdre in the Knights Episodes/Nona in Apocrypha and Wryz from the recent Wryz Saga. My pick is Nona because she has BY FAR the best character development and to me she took the spotlight in the entire Apocrypha. In fact I'd argue that if Another Eden had the "Choose your Protagonist" Aldo would be the Male Protagonist and Nona would be the Female one because she's litterally the Protogonist of Apocrypha and it can be regarded as a "Game within a game" so yea that says alot. - Best Side Story: Western Mythos (Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise)
The Western Mythos is the best story in my opinion (And actually alot of players do agree with me on that). The Zerberiya continent, the world, the cast of characters and the story is phenomenal from it's 1st chapter to the finale. I know that people will tell me Future Mythos is also great but it doesn't have THAT impact on me as much as the Western Mythos did.
- Best Main Story: Main Story Part 2 (Tales of the East)
There are currently four Main Stories: Main Story Part 1;Main Story Part 1.5 (Ogre Wars) ;Main Story Part 2 (Tales of the East) and the currently Main Story Part 3 (Into the Hollow).
In my mind while having played all of those stories, I still find myself being drawn and attached to the Eastern Continent ! Because I truly love the setting ! WFS clearly nailed it and even so when you consider the amount of "Eastern" Personality characters that are in the game which is the highest in the game at 30 characters (Not counting AS/ES). Heck I'm currently replaying the Main Story Part 2 because I enjoyed it even better than the current Part 3 which from a pure gameplay sure it's better but in terms of Story/Characters and OST then to me nothing beats the Garulea Continent (Present/Past/Future and Underworld) !
This is in part why I'm extremely hyped for Eastern Mythos and I can't wait for it !
- Best Character Quest: Melissa
Melissa is by far the best Character Quest and ask any veteran player and he'll tell you that. It's also the darkest and the saddest one in the entire game and it's special in the fact that Aldo IS NOT PRESENT in it at all ! Imagine THAT ! I won't say more because of spoilers but if you don't have Melissa you can just search on Youtube as her CQ is there and you can watch it ! If you have her but have not played her quest...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING for ? DO IT ! - Best Character: Yukino
This is subjective and my AE subreddit flair checks out, I love Yukino so much since her introduction, apart from me having a thing for women/girls with Ice powers, her story and how she was created (Also she's Eastern as well so another point !) also her relationship to Tsukiha so no need to say more! - Best Antagonist/Villain: Guildna (Main Story Part 1)
The reason why to me Guildna is the best villain is NOT what you think it is ! Another Eden is a game centered around stories Beyond Time and Spacethere I said itbut while there are really good villainy characters like for instance the Empress/Emperor of the Land of Mi and Shin (Again Eastern !) Garneli and Genshin but Guildna is special because he made me appreciate Main Story Part 1 alot more then the other characters, it tells you what happened if Guildna makes some impactful decisions in the storyline. Besides without Guildna there's no Aldo and therefore no Another Eden ! - Best Cat Companion: Kuchiba
I love the Siamese Cat Breed and Kuchiba IS the only one in the game in whom I didn't change ever since I found her years ago in Vermillion Road (Another Eastern Reference, see what I told you) - Best NPC: Some Guy
He'sScottliterally everywhere in the game. From the past to the future, from Zerberiya to Garulea, heck even in the Hollow you'll find him ! There's no way I make a list without appreciating "Some Guy" and his deeds to the game. - Best Frog: Cyrus (He's Eastern aswell ! I tell you this is why the Eastern Setting is THE BEST !!)
- Best Main Cast Character: Guildna
- Best Mascot: Varuo
If Moke wasn't released as a playable Sidekick he would have been my pick but now I have to choose the 2nd best IMO and that's Varuo. The Iconic Cat mascot in the game. - Best Boss: Caroline and Justine (From Persona 5 Royal part 2 Collab)
This boss used to be the hardest boss in the game for a long time and for good reason as it has alot of HP stoppers and has TONS of HP, while the boss has been powercrept and now easy with the recent units...back than it was a pain, another close second would be the Toova AS Manifest Battle which used to be the hardest Manifest fight in the entire game because of Toova AS insane fixed DMG and RNG involved. - Best OST: エルの唄～メリナ Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise ED ~ The Stifling Song Melina Edition
The best theme for the best story in the game, everytime I hear the OST I unconsciously start humming and even start tearing up because it's JUST THAT GOOD and after playing the Western Mythos and knowing what the lyrics means...man it hits hard ! A close second is Apex Logic and Cardinal Scales ED ~ Immaculate Full Version but let's be real ! The game is full of the best OST in a game ever ! - Best Battle OST: Apex Logic and Cardinal Scales ~ Last Notes of the Battle Song Alter Dewey Boss Theme.
This one is hard to choose as the game is packed full of Bangers in the Battle Theme departement but this one personally gets me all hyped...besides even you didn't reach that part of the game it still hypes you up ! A close second is First Knight and The Holy Sword ~ Dear My Dearest -Prayer of the Holy War- as I loved the Knights Episode Story so much and love the plot twist which leaves to this battle.

Seriously she's by far the most flexible free character in the game, yea sure it takes a bit to get her but she can give 1/3 of her stats to anyone and she can mold her kit into the unit she's devoted to including zone setting/element and attack type change etc... She's even more good when used with Aldo (And it's canon aswell as she's devoted to Aldo and loves him so much which he also does (Not in a friend way btw)) and we know SA Aldo is OP especially at 255 Light so yea ! - Best Zone Setter: Iphi
To qualify for The Best, a unit doesn't just has to set a zone but it needs to have OP effects with the zone setting skill/VC and to me no one who's better at that than Iphi, her zone setting skill Walpurgisnacht is seriously broken: First of all the skill is Pre-emptive; you get the best elemental zone (Shade zone); you get Blood Contract which gives you survivability and Lunatic Risktaker; you get 5T Magic Focus and if you recast it, you get Kaleido switch to Shade element for 1T for all units...ALL OF THOSE in a single skill and moreso when you realise that these are all skills you usually see in Stellar Awakening Locked-Behind recent units in a unit released a year ago - Best Damage Dealer (DPS): Xianhua
Before Xianhua got released and broke the DPS meta, Yakumo and Sesta used to dominate that market but now Xianhua is the best end of question ! The reason being that her DPS potential is not locked behind her SA skill as most recent units does. - Best True Tank: Radias AS
Some people might argue that Radias AS is being powercrept but to me a Tank is more than just high HP/DEF/DMG Mitigation via Shield or Debuffs but to me a Tank in AE needs to have Guard and Rage and to me Radias AS is still the best one even if she's now almost 2 years old. While Alma AS is alot more recent and has all of those she's more of a Secondary DPS/Support than a tank and her Guard is conditional; Soira AS doesn't have Guard;Anabel ES doesn't have Guard nor Rage and Prai is constrained by Stun after Guard - Best Support: Myunfa Alter
I tried alot of units but to me no one can do support/sustain in the entire game than Myunfa Alter, seriously her kit is a dream to every one, she has everything you can think of, YEP EVERY.SINGLE.SUPPORT.EFFECT in her kit. If you have the fourth slot (80 light) she's even better, she support the entire party but more so the unit on her right:
* She can tank (Tho not with Guard but with DMG mitigation such as -50% DMG taken, a 2000 Max HP Shield and insane debuffs + Buff END/SPR).
* She can set Earh/Magic Zone (3 Staff users+) and can awaken any zone.
* She can give Magic and Singular Focus.
* She can give Weapon Type DMG and Weakness Multiplier.
* She can give Status and Knockback Immunity.
* She set 3T pain/poison ignore res.
Yes everything I said above is in her kit, what's more is that she can do most of these preemptively and do you know what's more insane ! She's not bound by the Stellar Awakening System !
- Best Healer: Anabel ES
She can heal 50% HP/15% MP but unlike Radias AS which can also do it in a counter, if you put her in Guiding Light she gets +50% DMG and Healing meaning she can potentially heals 100% HP ! Something only seen in EX Attacks in ES characters and that one requires complex setting. - Best Pain/Poison Setter and DoT (Damage over Time) user: Pom AS
A Best Pain/Poison setter doesn't just have to set p/p ignore res as most units can do that but can use p/p as DoT (Damage over Time) and no one can do it better then Pom. Heck 4⭐ Pom has been known for her gimmick of giving p/p if you have the appropriate equipment and there's Grasta Ores that gives +50% DMG if user is inflicted with Pain/Poison so yea. - Best AF user: Miyu ES
To qualify for this the unit has to benefit more from using AF (Another Force) either by doing more DPS in AF or get easy AF Combo Multiplier, it's been known that Thunder units are the ones who can use AF efficiently and while the current Meta revolves around DMG outside AF, some units only shines in AF and Miyu ES is just that, a close second would be Victor AS but he can be tricky to use as you need the AF Combo to 1000% for him to deal 7300% DMG Multiplier but in a Thunder Team with high SPD it's possible. - Best Singer: Milsha AS
While Singing has been powercrept by Praying, I still use Singing units from time to time and Milsha AS is by far the best from the best, seriously her 2 songs can give different Lunatic to the entire party depending on the Song being user (Sacrifice and Risktaker) and this effect can co-exist with other lunatic. - Best Praying unit: Toova ES
This one is hard as most Praying units are OP ! However for me Toova ES takes the crown by a slight margin, just set her pray and forget about her and if you have a unit which can Cover (Iphi is most used with her) then you don't have to worry about her taking DMG and breaking Prayer.

Explanation (this is complicated, ngl, somewhat long post incoming): first off, I did a Discharge of Misery CoC last league too, but with Cyclone as the trigger. After hearing all the talk of Lancing Steel of Spraying's usefulness for CoC I gave it a try.
You can see the basic setup in the first part of the video, I just slapped those items on my Exsang miner and gave a Trypanon with Destructive Link to a friend to link to me so I have 100% crit for the sake of testing.
Basically what is happening is that for every single one of the projectiles from LSoS (Lancing Steel of Spraying) that crits an enemy, I get one power charge from Voll's Protector. Important: Voll's Protector's charge gain works different from any other charge gain source. Any "x% chance to get x charge" is on a per cast/attack basis, meaning no matter how many enemies are hit or how many times you hit, you can only ever gain a single one charge per attack/cast. Voll's Protector however is the only item in the game (afaik) that gives a charge for every single hit, even from the same attack/cast. And that counts for every hit, which is important for coc because even the triggered Discharge will give you power charges per enemy hit. And that is exactly where the magic starts happening.
I only realised this a short while after making that footage, but what is happening is the following:
Furthermore you can use Voll's Devotion to get an endurance charge for every power charge spend, so that if you crit an enemy, the Discharge will give equal amounts of endurance charge as it used power charges, so the next trigger will have an additional x endurance charges worth of damage, which can be quite a lot, up to like 40% more overall dmg.
There are many more minute details and complicated things, from what items are better and which are worse, to minimum charges being sometimes detrimental, to just overall personal preferences and possible ways to scale, from Indigon stacking to Adorned to defenses, but I won't focus on all that rn, that would make this post way too long.
So this is where I'm at, just tested this a couple hours ago and have since looked at ways to maybe make a "real" build out of this. I have a strong feeling that this build could be a very good mapper, single target probably not so much. Though I guess you could stack some of those "x% chance to get maximum charges instead" for single target, which is what I did for my last league's coc Discharge.

It's by no means optimal or anything, just the basic shit I threw together. I'm pretty sure there are far better ways to go about this, I'm not exactly a good build maker :P For example I only chose Assassin because I have a Shadow lvl 97 and I'm not too keen on levelling a new char. Imo Scion with the "Unleashed Potential" Forbidden Flame&Flesh sounds like a strong contendor, especially with the ability to abuse Perandus Pact and Unnatural Instinct and the likes. Inquisitor also sounds like a good idea. Occultist probably not so much, for a variety of reasons, but could be good too. But the pob is already at ~"10m" dps as is, which is a good sign I guess?
I would really like to make a build out of this and test it ingame, I just have two problems: first, I gambled away all my currency recently because I pretty much burned out on the league, so I have nigh zero divs left to my name. And second, again, I am pretty much burned out on the league and can't even bring myself to play ssf. So I'm not really sure if I will even build on this idea, which is exactly why I decided to just share my findings. Surely some of you can make this actually work.
So overall just a weird and imo very interesting and unique build concept, the basic theories seem to work exactly as I anticipated. Just something "completely" out of the ordinary and I do think this has quite some potential, so feel free to voice your opinion and ideas.

- The third enemy hit by LSoS triggers the second Discharge, but this time with full pc worth of dmg.
- Step 4 repeats until your Discharge hits less enemies than your pc limit. Aka if you have a maximum of 9 pc and there are only 4 enemies left to hit, the following Discharge will only have 4 pc worth of dmg (possibly 5 because you get a pc from the LSoS hit too but I don't know if that one is gained before or after Discharge is triggered. I am assuming before, which would also make step 1 fall away, aka even if you have 0 pc and attack, the very first enemy hit by LSoS will already discharge with 1 pc worth of dmg).

1990 NASA paper by A.C. Holt (major co-authors of his other papers are Eric Davis and Puthoff). Describes a warp drive capable craft using all of the juicy SDI tech such as:
high temperature superconductors, micro-engineered materials, compact superconducting magnets, free-electron lasers, high power, tunable microwave systems (masers), quasicrystals, plasmoid generators.
Author tries to invoke string theory and Higgs particles, but says there's not enough data about them yet. He calls the warping "Space Time Field Disengagement with Field Bias" (Table 1). The only reference he provides on this is for the fusion reactor needed. That fusion paper looks really interesting from the players involved, here.
As far as I understand these warp drives from the SDI era, they were dealing with altering the virtual particle density by polarizing the vacuum. Get yourself a very strong E/B field, and you've now biased space so that the virtual electron-positrons are more likely to pop into existence with greater lifetimes before annihilating. By affecting this lifetime, you can then push off of this biased field by directing the electrons one way and the positrons the other way. Julian Schwinger was key to the development of this SDI era warp tech. I gave an APEC presentation on it here and then a more recent updated version with a bit less jargon here
Let's just look at a few of those words in context of when this paper was written.
It's worth mentioning the hypothesis that these technologies like nuclear lasers on flying TR-3B spacecraft were being developed to fight outside threats, rather than the Russians.
Author lists some very precise details therein. He mentions only two stars in this paper, Alpha Centari and Epsilon Bootes (114LY away, pg14). So of course I had to look up why he calls out Bootes. He [weakly] claims that star is similar to Sol. So I did some digging on what makes this star special and kept coming up with Reptilians, but the earliest source I could find was 1995.
Aliens:
Then I found a book from 2011 that talks about Tesla noticing radio signals from Epsilon Bootes. Cross-referenced that with a NASA(-ish) paper saying similar 'off-world signals' discovered by Tesla that he thought were coming from Mars.
Lastly, here's a TIME magazine article for an off-world signal that was discovered in 1973. Signal was claiming to be coming from an alien satellite from Epsilon Bootes that was orbiting the moon and was saying that the satellite was 11,000yrs old. A much better written version told by the guy who found the signal (2nd link) where he specifically states it wasn't coming from the 'Black Knight' satellite and that he'd been directed where to look for these signals by a Stanford Professor. I noticed Arcturus (Tall Whites star from Charles Hall) mentioned whenever I tried looking up Bootes, but that star is only 37LY away and Holt specifically mentions the Epsilon Bootes star at 114LY. From the different Alien docs I could find, it sounds like a bunch of different species might be located in that cluster, reptilians/tall whites/nordics.
Additionally, a bit more digging today reveals that Epsilon Bootes is actually about 200LY away, not 114LY, and it's a binary system that's quite different than Sol. So Holt may have been way off (either accidently or on purpose?)
The star which happens to be most similar to Sol in the Bootes cluster is Muphrid (Eta Bootes) at 37LY away, which is imperceptibly close to Arcturus. As far as I recall, Charles Hall's description of pointing at Arcturus for the Tall White's star resulted in the Teacher saying that it wasn't their star but it was very close. This makes it sound like the Tall White's star is more likely Eta Bootes.

This will be rambling as I’m typing this quickly on mobile without thinking it through, so patience please.
What the title says. As a writer I was curious what these voice memos sounded like— especially as my cousin who is a huge Swifty has told me my iPhone notes app to finished product pipeline is apparently very similar to Taylor’s process, according to her.
I was only able to find the “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me!” voice memo and… it’s literally the complete finished song? Not a first draft at all. I don’t think any of the lyrics changed, the composition was all the same, just un-produced… it’s the finished, most polished version of the song that can possibly exist without the production., in fact.
And it’s bullshit. A complete and utter fabrication. A masterpiece she put hours into and then told the world it was simply a “doodle”.
The creative process isn’t easy— and sure, the more you write, the quicker and better your editing becomes. You edit while you write, even , once you’re worth your salt as a professional. Still, as a published and paid writer (poetry, opinion pieces, marketing material, white pages, short fiction, website copy, songs… you name it, I’ve been paid to write it at some point, even if on a small scale), my Notes app doesn’t have a single finished product in it. Even poems that were written entirely in Notes change a little when transcribed to a Word document— the page changes, and so the distribution of lines and appearance on the page does as well. It sounds stupid and fickle, but it’s the truth. But Taylor’s poetry? Perfection, apparently, instantly in her notes as if she’s only capable of finished products.
Or, as many have theorized— she didn’t edit this album at all.
I don’t know what I expected; I knew artistic integrity was likely a very lofty goal for her, but I decided to check because maybe, in the pursuit of the “tortured artist” label, she would release a real first draft— something messier, more raw, with lines that changed later. Something that revealed the artistry step she took to make the final record. Alas, she could never stomach the shame of artistic misunderstanding that might result. It’s why her metaphors are… well, hardly metaphoric, to be generous.
This is why you don’t release drafts. They aren’t supposed to be pretty or make sense. They’re supposed be redlined and crowded out in the margins by frantic notes and ideas, a testament to the artistic vision overtaken by the polished thing that emerges only at the very end, lifting itself out of the scramble of scratched out words once all the hard work of editing, of murdering darlings, has been done. I love all of my drafts, and I keep the marked up and co-edited versions for times when my creativity lacks. I can go to those pieces and see, on paper, the ways they changed for the better— I can access my process even in times it’s lacking. I am inspired by my own past messiness, the weak lines and word choices because a long time ago I internalized the humility needed to make truly great art.
I don’t know what I expected— I was genuinely shocked that her fans care about these fake “first drafts”. These glorified, lazy acoustic versions of her apparently always-perfect, never changing art.
She wouldn’t last a day in the workshop where they raised me, that’s for sure.
Can anybody confirm if this is how all of the notes drafts are?
Edit: Also, another thought. I think this really bothers me because the artistic process is what artists are taught to be afraid of— it’s where we’re the most judged, made to feel the most ashamed of our pursuits. Non-artists read drafts or look at unfinished canvases and judge, often vocally, the unfinished work without any consideration of how tumultuous a process that can be in pursuit of an unrealized, unknown end goal. So how is the biggest “artist” in the world making a falsehood of the most precious of parts of artistic pursuit without so much as a thought?
Other artists learn to grow protective of this process because of its fragility, its rawness, its necessity. She just chose to abandon the rest of us to the wolves and lie about what that actually looks like, and its feels like a sacrificial betrayal for me.

What the title says. As a writer I was curious what these voice memos sounded like— especially as my cousin who is a huge Swifty has told me my iPhone notes app to finished product pipeline is apparently very similar to Taylor’s process, according to her.
I was only able to find the “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me!” voice memo and… it’s literally the complete finished song? Not a first draft at all. I don’t think any of the lyrics changed, the composition was all the same, just un-produced… it’s the finished, most polished version of the song that can possibly exist without the production., in fact.
And it’s bullshit. A complete and utter fabrication. A masterpiece she put hours into and then told the world it was simply a “doodle”.
The creative process isn’t easy— and sure, the more you write, the quicker and better your editing becomes. You edit while you write, even , once you’re worth your salt as a professional. Still, as a published and paid writer (poetry, opinion pieces, marketing material, white pages, short fiction, website copy, songs… you name it, I’ve been paid to write it at some point, even if on a small scale), my Notes app doesn’t have a single finished product in it. Even poems that were written entirely in Notes change a little when transcribed to a Word document— the page changes, and so the distribution of lines and appearance on the page does as well. It sounds stupid and fickle, but it’s the truth. But Taylor’s poetry? Perfection, apparently, instantly in her notes as if she’s only capable of finished products.
Or, as many have theorized— she didn’t edit this album at all.
I don’t know what I expected; I knew artistic integrity was likely a very lofty goal for her, but I decided to check because maybe, in the pursuit of the “tortured artist” label, she would release a real first draft— something messier, more raw, with lines that changed later. Something that revealed the artistry step she took to make the final record. Alas, she could never stomach the shame of artistic misunderstanding that might result. It’s why her metaphors are… well, hardly metaphoric, to be generous.
This is why you don’t release drafts. They aren’t supposed to be pretty or make sense. They’re supposed be redlined and crowded out in the margins by frantic notes and ideas, a testament to the artistic vision overtaken by the polished thing that emerges only at the very end, lifting itself out of the scramble of scratched out words once all the hard work of editing, of murdering darlings, has been done. I love all of my drafts, and I keep the marked up and co-edited versions for times when my creativity lacks. I can go to those pieces and see, on paper, the ways they changed for the better— I can access my process even in times it’s lacking. I am inspired by my own past messiness, the weak lines and word choices because a long time ago I internalized the humility needed to make truly great art.
I don’t know what I expected— I was genuinely shocked that her fans care about these fake “first drafts”. These glorified, lazy acoustic versions of her apparently always-perfect, never changing art.
She wouldn’t last a day in the workshop where they raised me, that’s for sure.
Can anybody confirm if this is how all of the notes drafts are?
Edit: Also, another thought. I think this really bothers me because the artistic process is what artists are taught to be afraid of— it’s where we’re the most judged, made to feel the most ashamed of our pursuits.
