2024.05.19 09:04 Charmed264 My first time getting scammed

I posted my resume on Craigslist trying to get some sort of work from home job.
A woman emailed me: “I am currently looking for a business personal assistant just for you to know the position is an home based job, I live in Toronto Ontario but currently out of the Country for roadshows, that's why I need someone reliable to help me with my tight schedule. Do you have a Laptop/PC you can be working on?”
I said yes, and asked about the schedule and pay. She replied and said: “Ok good. So we operate a custom home building company, android developer and into buying and selling of antiques and artifacts. I'm an extremely busy person just online here looking for a personal assistant who will be willing to reduce me from a multi-task I go through all day online. Your duties just entails sending and receiving emails from my clients, taking orders and making enquires, I’d instruct you on how to go through with them as time goes on.You'd be working for 3-4hrs daily; 10am-1pm or 4pm-7pm and the hours can be flexible. So about the pay, the payment is dependent it could be a direct deposit or a Cheque and the pay is $580 weekly. Which bank do you operate with?”
I then told her what bank I use and that my schedule is wide open. She then said: “Ok good, so you'd be having an online interview via text just Q&A processing. It would be performed on a telegram platform. I believe you have a telegram messenger app?”
Looking back that was a red flag but I was desperate.
She then said let’s chat on WhatsApp (which I didn’t have but I downloaded it to chat with her). Also a red flag🤦‍♀️
I emailed about five “clients” about various things that were consistent with the work she said she does. They discussed certain items, dates, payments, prices etc.
Well the job was a scam. She asked I get 2 $100 gift cards as a thank you for her clients. I emailed a bunch of her clients, she had a website and all this info to corroborate her story. So I stupidly believed her. She sent me two cheques each for $100 for the gift cards. I deposited them, went out and got the gift cards and sent pictures of them to each of her clients. Anyways everything seemed normal, then she asked I get another gift card for a different client I emailed with, again with a cheque. I finally said no and asked she send the money by e-transfer or direct deposit. She said she couldn’t for whatever reason. She said the cheques were good and they’ll go through. After I expressed fear that they wouldn’t.
Because they were Apple gift cards and they have codes you just scan. I checked and both of the cards are drained. I called my bank and they said because I deposited the cheques there’s nothing they can do. And when the cheques inevitably bounce/come up as fraud a hold will be put on my account and I’ll need to pay the $200. Money I don’t have. It seemed genuine at the time, I feel so stupid and disappointed in humanity honestly.
I was already scraping change together just to buy food and I’m many months behind on rent; now it’s been made so much worse. Ultimately I’m just tired of all of this. I’m only 20 years old, yet I fell for it because of my desperation for money. My desperation made me blind to the obvious red flags.
My friends and family comforted me and said I’m not stupid, it was just an elaborate scam. I don’t really believe them, I mean looking back it was so obvious!! But they made me feel like a dumb kid and that’s something I already deal with in my day to day (why is a long story). I figured at least at this job I’d have people take me seriously. But instead I was made a fool.
Sorry for the novel!

2024.05.19 08:56 Strict-Strength5552 Anyone have experience with Acadian Ambulance?

Hello everyone :) In two days I start a new job with Acadian Ambulance as a van operator (ambulance driver) which is just a basic entry level job while I’m in school to get my EMTB. I’ve done some research kinda but I was just curious as to what all your opinions on Acadian Ambulance are (if you know of them, I know they’re more of a southern company). I’m based in Texas — Idk if maybe it’s different by state with them 🤷‍♂️ Regardless though I am excited ya’ll :)

2024.05.19 08:56 AnonAmn22 Working/living in a foreign country during IRR/post separation?

Hello everyone. Hoping you’re having a good weekend.
So I tried searching around the subreddit here and I haven’t found a solid answer anywhere, so I am going to ask this here just in case if others in the future get curious.
So my contract ends in 643 days from now, and I plan on going to Japan with a work visa and working abroad for a good 2-5 years. The job I’m wanting to get will be kind of low pay, maybe ¥250,000 (roughly $1,600) a month from the organization I’ve been looking at. (I just want the worldly experience of living and working overseas while I’m still young.)
When I was looking at my old paperwork from 2 years ago from my recruiter’s office, I was reminded from those documents (and the career data brief) that I have an 8 year commitment. I didn’t completely forget about it, but I also don’t want to run into any issues.
So here is my concern… What if I am off in Japan (or “insert name” country for others in a similar situation,) what will happen if I am recalled? If I remember correctly, I hear that we have to “touch base” with a military personnelist annually in regard to saying where we are, what we’re doing, if we’re staying fit, or something upon that nature. (I think it’s a recruiter we were supposed to talk to every year? I may be wrong.) What do I say to them? “Oh yeah, I’m not even in the country. I’m working for a company here in Japan (or X country) and I live here too.”
Also, don’t our security clearances span 5 years? When I am a civilian, I was just going to let it expire. Do I have to reach out to a security manager when I am not enlisted anymore about overseas travel? What would happen if I/someone want to get a job down the line that requires a security clearance? (Such as an embassy job?) How would I/someone go about reporting that?
Also, not like this applies to me (at least right now for all that I know,) but it could apply to someone… Can we still utilize our VA benefits overseas? I don’t think we could use the home loan as I believe it’s restricted to CONUS, but what about education or disability?
I want to apologize if I seem to be overthinking this, or if I seem to be asking super easy questions I should already know the answers to, or if this comes off as like, illogical or something of that nature. Please forgive me. I don’t know if this exact topic will be mentioned in TAPS or not, or if it would be mentioned at any point before I separate.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your time.

🔗Compact, Lightweight AR 10 Bipod with No Assembly Required

https://preview.redd.it/ogj9v9g9zb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bdaabec5489c5a52ba167313ac6b7bd32865ce3f
The Champion Bipod is a must-have for all AR 10 enthusiasts. I've been using it for a few months now, and it has definitely enhanced my firearm experience. Firstly, the bipod is incredibly easy to attach to the gun, with just a quick installation to the sling swivel stud. And, what I particularly love is that there's literally no assembly required, making it perfect for those who aren't handy with tools.
The telescoping legs are a major highlight. Their spring-load return means you can easily extend and retract the legs, ensuring quick and easy height adjustment. But, I do have to admit that while the bipod adds extra stability, it does make the gun feel a bit heavier.
However, despite its lightweight design, the bipod itself is surprisingly sturdy and durable. It's capable of handling the recoil of my AR 10 and maintaining its rigidity. It does lack the ability to swivel, though, which does make it somewhat limited in its flexibility.
Overall, the Champion Bipod is a solid purchase for anyone looking to add extra stability and precision to their rifle. Even though it does come with a few shortcomings, it still offers great value for money and performance.

🔗High-Quality HD-50 Bipod for 50 BMG Rifles

https://preview.redd.it/yoiw8qu9zb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d12bb9309b2d0ec0811fc4e94bbcd5cf6fb2abf
I recently tried the Accu-Tac HD-50 Bipod Black, and let me tell you, it's a sturdy and reliable companion for any shooting enthusiast. This bipod is specifically designed for heavy-duty rifles, with a center hub that offers great stability and strength. The larger arm lock lugs ensure it can withstand the recoil of a 50 BMG, which is definitely appreciated. One of the standout features for me was the ability to cant and the throw lever, which makes adjustments a breeze.
The only downside I encountered was that the product description didn't explicitly mention whether the bipod had the ability to cant or not. This left me to figure it out once I had the product in hand. But overall, I'm quite pleased with this sturdy, heavy-duty bipod that will be a trusty addition to my shooting gear.

🔗Adjustable Heavy Duty AR-10 Bipod with Precision Leg Locks

https://preview.redd.it/msyilk6azb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47d9bc9a7e98ed1d95d2bb8a137fbfe5a7ebef97
Imagine you're out on the range, adjusting the angle of your AR 10 on unpredictable terrain. As you take aim, you're grateful for the Tac Shield Heavy Duty Bi-Pod.
Its side-to-side swivel capabilities feel as natural as a seasoned shooter, and that quick adjustment lever? . A game-changer.
The precision leg locks offer a sure grip, no matter how uneven the surface. Its legs extend quickly and lock in place with an ease that's unmatched.
Even better are the grip caps on the bottom - they hold steady, providing the perfect rest for a steady shot. And, when it's time to retract, the spring return release buttons make it a breeze.
Now, you see why this Heavy Duty Bi-Pod has a 5-star rating. It's not just a tool, it's an essential part of your shooting experience.

🔗Swagger Hunter29 Bipod: Versatile AR 10 Bipod for Maximum Shooting Agility

https://preview.redd.it/q2y1iznazb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef3a829b48aa3f006d765b8240229b10ff31aa36
I recently had the chance to try out the Swagger Hunter29 bipod, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The moment I assembled it, I was struck by its lightweight design, which weighed in at just 23.6 ounces.
One standout feature for me was the easy removal of the rubber foot to reveal the spiked foot, allowing me to dig into my terrain with ease. The leg design and internal updates from 2018 also impressed me, as they provided a much smoother shooting experience. The nitride finish on the springs and spring housing was a nice touch, adding an extra layer of durability.
As someone who appreciates versatility in their gear, I was excited to see that this bipod came with a reinforced bungee and a standard rifle adapter. Its compatibility with a wide range of shooting positions, from prone to seated to kneeling, added to my confidence in its performance.
Overall, the Swagger Hunter29 bipod proved to be a solid choice for hunters and shooters alike. Its ability to adapt to various terrains and obstacles helped me feel confident in my shots, and its lightweight design made it easy to carry along. While there may be some minor drawbacks to the setup process, the benefits of using this bipod far outweigh them. I wholeheartedly recommend the Swagger Hunter29 to anyone in search of a reliable and versatile shooting aid.

🔗Steady AR 10 Bipod with Traversing Technology

https://preview.redd.it/v0djlg2bzb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d744ec54754101137e8f57f013b2984e459c976e
As a fellow hunter, I recently had the chance to try out these Champion Bipods with cant & traverse, and I was quite impressed with the features they offered. The 9" to 13" horizontal rotation system proved to be a game-changer when it came to getting a steadfast hold on moving game. It's like having an extra set of eyes, as you can easily follow the game's movements without losing sight.
Though the rapid-adjust lever lock offers quick and easy positioning, I did notice that it could use some fine-tuning. However, I find the telescoping legs with spring return to be a fantastic addition, as they make it easy to attach to the sling swivel stud on your firearm. The steadiness of this bipod shines through, and it's not just for prone shots - it's also perfect for those benchrest or sitting situations.
For uneven terrain, the pivoting feature is a lifesaver. Though the product is made in China, its quality seems to mimic that of much higher-priced models. Overall, while there are some minor drawbacks, these bipods prove to be an excellent value for the price, and I'm sure they'll serve as an invaluable tool for hunters all around.

🔗Adjustable AR 10 Bipod with 60-degree Pan Movement

https://preview.redd.it/jahx0cmbzb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=677bb215af022ff763acab53e72c7c2b56b55c12
Recently, I tried out the FAB Defense Spike Tactical Bipod and let me tell you, it was a game-changer for my rifle setup. As someone who enjoys shooting at long distances, a bipod can make all the difference in keeping shots consistent and accurate.
One of the first things that stood out to me was its smart hybrid construction. It strikes the perfect balance between sturdiness and lightweight. This was amazing for me because I wanted a bipod that wouldn't slow me down while still offering stability.
The four locking leg positions were another major highlight. The flexibility to adjust the legs at 0, 45, 90, and 135 degrees allowed me to use it in different shooting situations with ease. I appreciated that it could be quickly adjusted for different heights and angles without any hassle.
The adjustable rotating head was another feature I loved. Its simple design ensured that my rifle remained steady, even when I needed to make quick changes on the fly. I also found the 60-degree pan movement and 20-degree tilt movement to be quite useful, providing me with a greater range of motion as I shot from various positions.
Despite loving most aspects of this bipod, there were a couple of drawbacks to mention. The first was that the legs, while sturdy, could feel a bit narrow at times, particularly when using heavy optics. The second was that extending or retracting them required a bit more force than I'd have expected, but that's a small price to pay for the overall stability this bipod provides.
Overall, the FAB Defense Spike Precision Bipod exceeded my expectations. It offers a sturdy build, is lightweight, and has features that make it a reliable and flexible addition to any rifle. Sure, there may be some minor drawbacks, but for the price range, it's a steal for shooters looking to improve their accuracy and make their shooting experience more enjoyable.

🔗Swagger Extreme Angle AR Bipod for Hunting Performance

https://preview.redd.it/jabddjzbzb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06a18e5153b76e237c79b35d7b68e47ceb189488
This Swagger SEA12 Shooter Extreme Angle Bipod is a piece of equipment I've grown quite fond of lately. Picture this - I'm out in the wild, hunting for big game. With its 9-12 inch height adjustability, it provides a stable shooting platform for those critical moments, especially when dealing with those pesky angles.
What I particularly appreciate about this bipod is its overmolded flex-ready joint. It's like having an extra grip of confidence, knowing that my shot won't be compromised by the slightest wobble. And it's designed to be adaptable, so no matter the angle, you'll always have a steady hand.
It's not all smooth sailing though. As with any gadget, there's always a learning curve, and it took me a bit of time to get the hang of mounting it onto my Picatinny rail. But once I figured it out, it was game on.
All in all, if you're hunting or shooting in situations where angles play a significant role, this Swagger SEA12 Shooter Extreme Angle Bipod is a worthy investment. It's robust, reliable, and can be your companion through those thrilling moments in the wild.

🔗TraverseTrack Bipod for Sling Swivel Connection

https://preview.redd.it/q6bftvjczb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b490720b46989f9b3e30473d2fc0d383bf50436
Lately, I've been using the Blackhawk Sportster TraverseTrack Bipod, and I must say, it's been quite a game changer for me. The bipod has been incredibly helpful during my practice sessions and even made life simpler while tracking my targets.
First and foremost, the sturdy all-metal construction of the bipod has been quite impressive. It carries a robust and durable vibe that makes me feel safe and confident while holding it. The tubular legs have always been steady, even when the targets started to move. Its horizontal traverse allows me to make smooth, steady movements with minimal effort.
What I've found particularly useful is the pivot action feature. It makes it seamless to level my gun when I'm shooting on uneven terrains, thus providing a dependable and consistent shooting experience without any hassle. The leg adjustment is just a breeze with the help of the rapid-adjust lever lock. The legs automatically return to their upright position whenever I need them to be, which has been a genuine relief.
The ability to attach this bipod to my sling swivel stud has also been a significant win. It's straightforward, and the convenience and maneuverability it brings into play are noteworthy.
However, despite these upsides, I've also had a few gripes. For one, I found the legs to be just a little too fragile at the locking tabs. I don't know if it's a manufacturing issue or if I just had bad luck, but both tabs broke within a week. I had to resort to using some blue loc tite to fix the issue, which was an inconvenience.
Secondly, I do wish the legs were a bit longer, to make it more suitable for my needs in certain shooting positions. The existing one sometimes feels a bit too short for what I had in mind.
Lastly, this one might just be a me thing, but I felt it could be a bit lighter, especially when carrying it around for long. It's not a major issue, but it would have been a pleasant addition for sure.
Overall, the Blackhawk Sportster TraverseTrack Bipod has been a valuable addition to my arsenal. It boasts of a number of convenient features that have significantly enhanced my shooting experience, but like any other mechanical contraption, not every aspect has been perfect.

🔗Accu-Tac FC-5 G2 F-Class Bipod for Long-Range Shooting

https://preview.redd.it/08a3fnyczb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5e1ce5ad871e57151e19300e0f994f8e3b39a92
I've been using the Accu-Tac FC-5 G2 Arca Spec Bipod for a few weeks now, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. This F-Class bipod is incredibly versatile, perfect for long-range target shooting, competitions, and even airgun use. It's a bit more expensive than your usual bipods, but trust me, it's worth every penny.
The one feature that stood out to me the most is how stable this bipod is. It allows the rifle to sit between your legs, which ensures accuracy and reduces movement from recoil. It's even suitable for AR 10 Bipod applications, but you don't have to limit yourself to those.
One thing I noticed was that the cant adjustment lever can be repositioned, but don't use a tool to tighten the tension. Other than that, I've been really impressed with how easy it is to deploy the leg positions and how secure it is when locked in place. I'll definitely consider this option next time I'm looking for a bipod.

🔗UTG Pro Recon 360 TL 7-9" MLOK Bipod: 360-Degree Swivel, Adjustable Height, and Nonslip Rubberized Foot Pads

https://preview.redd.it/u0nzb5fdzb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=039234688867cbdc6dc145c1c33bf41a18cf4ecd
As a reviewer, I've been using the UTG Pro Recon bipod for a while now, and it has been quite an experience. I particularly enjoy the fact that it's adjustable both in height and swivel, allowing me to set up the most stable platform for my rifle.
The 3-position folding legs come in handy when I need to pack up quickly, and the lockable leg extensions ensure security. However, the rubber feet at the end of the legs do slip a bit on some surfaces, which can be quite annoying. Despite the minor inconvenience, the bipod has proven to be a reliable piece of gear, providing the stability and versatility I need for my shooting adventures.

🔗Heavy Duty AR-10 Adjustable Swivel Bipod

https://preview.redd.it/p4hqzntdzb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5deb7796b5a51f5ff8799503de8f3ee056d545db
I recently tried out the Tac Shield Heavy Duty Pivoting Bi-Pod, and honestly, it's been a game-changer in my shooting setup. The adjustable shooting heights make it perfect for uneven terrain, thanks to the pivoting design and quick adjustment pivot lever. The precision tension leg locks are a nice touch, ensuring a secure fit no matter what surface I'm on.
What really stood out to me, though, were the reinforced tension springs. These bad boys have made a significant difference when it comes to durability. I love how sturdy and reliable they feel, and I can tell that they're built to last. The ribbed grip caps on the bottom legs also add a touch of convenience, providing a steady and secure rest whenever I need it.
The spring assist leg retraction feature is fantastic too - it makes it incredibly easy to retract the legs, and the spring return release buttons ensure a quick and positive retraction every time. All in all, this Tac Shield Heavy Duty Pivoting Bi-Pod has definitely become a staple in my shooting gear. Highly recommended!

🔗Advanced Portable Sling Stud Bipod with Switcheroo System

https://preview.redd.it/0w0pgo5ezb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fccd0c7f92b608186859c8a7ea861e83bca4977d
This BOG Adrenaline Switcheroo Bipod has been the perfect addition to my arsenal lately, providing that extra support for my gun when needed. One thing I particularly love is the high-density foam grips, which not only make it comfortable to hold but also ensure a firm and secure grip even in unexpected situations.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. Although the rotating head lets me shoot from various angles, it can sometimes be a bit slow when deploying the bipod in a hurry. Additionally, the product description mentioned a Switcheroo system, but I wasn't quite sure what that was about, as I haven't had much occasion to change my optics while using this bipod.
Overall, I'm quite happy with this bipod and how it's performed for me in my hunting endeavors so far. It's lightweight, incredibly stable, and the high-density foam grips ensure a comfortable yet firm grip. This bipod has definitely made my hunting experiences more enjoyable and successful.

4. Stability and Quick-Detach Options

A reliable and stable bipod is essential for accurate shots. Some features that contribute to stability include a heavy-duty mount, wide legs, and locking mechanisms that secure the legs in place. Quick-detach options, such as a twist-lock system or spring-loaded hinges, make it easy to mount and dismount your bipod without sacrificing stability.

5. Leg Angle and Pan Function

Two critical features for a carbon fiber bipod are the leg angle and pan function. Leg angle adjustments allow you to fine-tune the bipod's position relative to your shooting angle, ensuring maximum stability and accuracy. A pan function allows you to lock the bipod's legs in a fixed position, which is perfect for stable shooting scenarios or when transitioning between stations.

General Advice and Considerations

  • Consider your shooting needs and habits – if you often switch between different shooting positions or need a versatile bipod, look for a model with a quick-detach option and adjustable leg angles.
  • Consider the environment you'll be using the bipod in – rugged carbon fiber construction and durability are important if you'll be shooting in harsh weather conditions or rough terrain.
  • Check the product specifications for weight and build quality – a high-quality, lightweight carbon fiber bipod will offer the best performance for its weight.
  • Examine the warranty and customer support policies of potential purchases – reliable customer support is essential for resolving any issues you may encounter.
Now that you are familiar with the key features of carbon fiber bipods and have received our general advice, you're well-equipped to make an informed purchase. Remember, the best choice depends on your individual needs and preferences, so we recommend trying out different options before settling on the perfect carbon fiber bipod for you.

2024.05.19 08:51 ConstructionSad5713 Should I accept the job offer?

For context I would be leaving the company where I started my career. I’ve been working for 5 years and decided to put myself out there to see what opportunities I would get. One company is offering a 50% increase in salary plus a decent bonus. I would have to commute further until I move closer 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic. I think I’m afraid of the unknown. I would be working more by myself, which is not an issue. I love my current team that I work with, and I guess I’m looking for a reason to stay. My current job is working on my next step/ promotion but they have been working for over a month and nothing has materialized and I know I won’t receive the same salary.

2024.05.19 08:42 EchoOfConcern Privacy violation or Missing feature

So I visited a friend at hehis place of employment (a home residence) and they have Wyze cameras. Apparently from my innocent visits unbeknownst to me beforehand, these cameras have been used to detect my face, my license plate, and supposedly run background checks on me to dig for information on my address, employment status, and other things.
I was intrigued by this as I know supposedly “friendly faces” cannot be used in Texas. I know for sure these are Wyze cameras in use. Is this something that Noonlight does? Or do certain individuals get special access if they have a “Top Security Clearance” or the similar. Said friends family is not law enforcement but may be associated with TSA/DHS or the similar. I’m quite the law abiding citizen but did feel violated by this as no consent was given neither was I warned, and I didn’t trespass of course as I was invited over. Is this a feature I am missing as I cannot find this feature available and am curious how this is done.
If not moonlight is there another company that does this monitoring and snooping through Waze cameras?

2024.05.19 08:38 MoneyN86 [CA] - The dreaded “other duties as assigned” umbrella

One of my coworker (who is a Sr. analyst) left my company and on her way out, mentioned that my manager mentioned I will be picking up some of her responsibilities (being on call during weekends is one of them among others). My workplace has no intention in filling up her position. A HR employee at my workplace once told me that my responsibilities should only be the ones listed under my job title.
I have a meeting next week with my manager to discuss our team and my new responsibilities. Knowing how my manager is, I have a feeling I will be volun-told to pick up the extra duties. Can my manager force me to take on these extra responsibilities if they are not listed under my job title but the Sr. level one? I’m afraid he will squeeze them in under the “other duties as assigned” that’s listed under my job req. One thing for sure, I will be asking to be promoted at the Sr level if that’s my manager’s intention and hoping to be compensated for it.

Hey everyone, I recently got hired at Firehouse Subs in Winnipeg, and I’m excited to start. However, I just found out that my orientation will be held at a Tim Hortons location, specifically the head office for both Firehouse Subs and Tim Hortons in the area. I'm a bit surprised by this arrangement and was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar when starting a job at a different company. Is it normal for businesses to hold orientations at a different location. Thank you so much!!!

Not considering buying them but I’m curious if there good. They also have other cheaper lines similarly priced like Meinl classic customs and Zildjian s series. Has anyone bought from this company?

2024.05.19 08:27 Important-Weird-883 Please read carefully - can you identify or relate?

I am very different from many people…ok, before I continue, full disclosure: what I am about to reveal are honest, true, and completely real. I do not sugarcoat anything, I never hold back the way I feel when I have something to say. However, I do not see any point in most casual conversation because the truth is, NO ONE LISTENS. People in general do not pay attention to anything but their own thoughts.
I just started a new job. The first day we had orientation where we learned about the history of the company, the benefits, how the payroll system works, etc. i listened to the whole thing. During our training a few things came up that were discussed in orientation but the people who were with me had no recollection of those things. The may as well not have been there.
One of the girls who started the same day I did has gone from nice and friendly towards me to snapping at me. She makes unsolicited comments during conversations that she’s a part of but not actively participating in. The other girl who just started and I were talking about unemployment and social security benefits, I asked “how do you get social security?” and suddenly, out of nowhere and not directed towards her, she snapped “None of your business!!!”
Umm. Wait, was that comment for me? First, I wasn’t asking you and second, that was not an inappropriate question. I wasn’t asking how much money she makes or how she qualifies for government assistance. A few days later I was looking at a ball cap hanging from the side of my neighbors cubicle. I touched the bill of the hat and suddenly heard “don’t touch Ms. Judith’s stuff!” Wow. That time I shot her a look that said you should probably stay over there because I do NOT do drama.
Clearly she’s dealing with issues at home, she said she’s getting married but never discusses it or the man she’s planning on marrying. I honestly feel for this girl. She’s trapped in a situation that she feels she can’t get out of. I’m letting her be, and that resulted in her leaning on me and spilling her guts out, but just a few hours later she snapped at me again. I would never treat her with anything but kindness and respect. Lashing out at me doesn’t have much to do with me, I know that.
So many people are just mean. I can’t treat people that way. They say you should treat everyone the way you wish to be treated. If that were the case I’d be treating everyone so much better than myself.

2024.05.19 08:24 Captainfroggo Did I make the right choice?

I was seeing someone for past 5 months. She’s beautiful, funny, attentive and charming. She would go all out for me, tell me how much she appreciated me, but I felt an emotion disconnected from her. At first I blamed this on my attachment issues, but I still had a desire to get close to her. The first red flag, was that we didn’t really make conversation and I never felt she was interested in me as a person. She would call me handsome but I never felt like she wanted to know me as a person. Never engaged me about myself or my goals Yet she claimed she loved me.
The major issue arose when I noticed her short temper. Drama was always around her, history of family and relationship issues. I tried to get closer to her, but she claims that she doesn’t like taking about herself. Suddenly her anger started coming out on me. On my birthday, she planned a beautiful dinner, got a room. It was great up until she said her phone wasn’t having trouble receiving calls. I told her we should call the company, and try to get that resolved. Unfortunately her phone was not able to be fixed, she got into bed I layed next to her, she then blew up. She said that I should’ve just listened to her, instead of pressuring her to fix her phone, that I just made things worse. I apologized, and said that it seems to me that her phone was important since she needed it for work. That I didn’t enjoy my bday with her. Later that night, we were intimate and she told me that I didn’t not know how to please her and shouldn’t have wasted her time, and that we were sexually incompatible and I should find someone else to practice on. Once again I tried to fix things. I no longer felt confident being intimate with her after. I felt like In my own head when I’d try to please her.
She occasionally had outburst saying that I should be more obsessed with her, how she wished I wanted her as much as she wanted me, and how I couldn’t love her how she wanted to be loved. I apologized, for making her feel this way, and once again blamed it on my attachment issues.
I did start confront her about the mean things she would say and how it made me feel to which she replied, “ you must live a very privileged life if that’s offensive, I’ve been told way worse” and told her that still didn’t make things okay. She did apologize for saying hurtful things.
I started getting resentful, the thought of hanging out with her caused me dread, and our I was always careful of how I said things. She got into an argument with her dad recently and I tried to comfort her and I said “ it sucks your dad made you feel like that, I’m sorry and etc…” and she said “ everytime some says That sucks, it makes me feel like they don’t really care about what I have to say” and then I had to apologize for using the term “ that sucks “
Everytime we got into an argument, I felt stupid, I felt like I was a child getting yelled at. I felt like I was walking on eggshells, scared of saying something wrong.
I care for her deeply but my mental health started to get worse. I don’t like how this relationship made me feel. I wanted to be close to her like she wanted to be close to me. She said I made her so happy. She did a lot of sweet things and I attempted to match that, but I always felt scared, unsure and conflicted. I’m no saint and did my best. But I chose to end things, I felt I was unable to meet her needs and scared. And yet I find myself obsessing if I should have tried harder, if I was the issue. I miss her.

2024.05.19 08:14 llehcram [IWantOut] 27M Software Developer Indonesia -> Germany/Australia/New Zealand

Hello everyone, I’ll try to make it as brief and blunt as possible.
I’m 27 male living in Indonesia (born and raised) and have been thinking of moving out of this country for quite a while now. I have a degree in Computer Science (graduated in 2020) and have been working as an iOS Developer for 4 years now. Other than college, I also joined Apple Developer Academy in 2022. I have saved some money to move out (though I don’t think it’s that much because of the very low wage standards here, I think I have around 7500 USD).
Based on a bit of research (in this Subreddit and the immigration website of the mentioned countries), here’s what I found (please don’t hesitate to correct me if the points I made are not correct):
New Zealand
Germany
Australia
Based on my research above, here are my questions:
  1. I’m aware that moving out of a country to another is not an easy task and very hard to do that requires a lot of preparation. But based on my condition, which country that I mentioned makes the most sense to move into? And which steps that I need to do?
  2. For NZ, let’s say that my current salary met the minimum requirement to be green-listed. Based on the immigration website they mentioned, “To be eligible you must be working for an accredited employer or have a job offer from one”. Does it have to be from an NZ employer, or just any employer in general? (Right now I’m working in a Taiwanese company remotely)
  3. For AU, it’s possible to extend WHV up to 3 years. After that, is it possible to get another working visa (that permits my kind of work) because I already lived in Australia for 3 years?
Thank you and any help is appreciated! I'm also open if you have any other countries to suggest (preferably in Europe). Please don't hesitate to let me know if you need more information.

2024.05.19 08:07 Kolob_Horse Transitioning within the same company from employee to contractor, losing benefit - $46k increase in salary - What do I need to know?

tl;dr: So the title + 27, Utah. I have really solid benefits that I'm losing and need to figure out what I need to consider around health insurance + any other things I may not be considering in this swap.

Additional Context:
So long story short. I am very happy with the opportunity I have. I am making a career switch from sales to product manager in a 4000 employee company. I was making 150k before I swapped to this job 8 months ago (QOL decision).
It took a ridiculous amount of networking and stepping way out of my lane to get the position, and the specific role I'm getting is not something that existed in the company. They're taking a risk on me and don't have the, I'm not sure the proper term for it, but 'corporate headcount' to take me on as an employee till January.
I was making $74k salary + benefits before and will now be making $60/hr with 40 hours guaranteed (explained as $120k yearly target assuming 50 week in a full year worked) and was told that I can work overtime. Jan would be 135K plus full benefits.
I have really solid benefits that I am losing, but I do feel like this is a good move for me. I have an S-corp LLC that I worked under for 6 years prior, so I have that for taxes and am meeting with my accountant Monday for tax planning. I also have a second LLC partnership that I suspect will make an extra $10k this year from.
I have a $2500/month mortgage, but I also could float myself for at least a year with no wages, with all my expenses, if it came to that, so I can take the risk.
The VPs I've been talking to are talking to HR about some options of potentially keeping benefits, but I'm not confident. The job offer came Friday, with HR formalities I won't start officially until Thursday.
The company is a really good culture, the CEO forewent 2020 salary along with all management down the chain taking 75%-25% pay cut to prevent layoffs. So let's assume there are not intentionally malicious intentions. As a side note, when I first started the conversation 3 weeks ago, they were planning on bringing me on as a BSA, which I was open to, but after a presentation I did I surprisingly got offered the PdM role.
So yah. Any thoughts or consideration would be well appreciated.

2024.05.19 08:05 vikashgraja You should only use licensed version of python

I’m an intern in a company and I automated some processes using python. My company’s IT wing said that as long as it is a licensed software you can use it in our company.
In my mind I was like where the f I’m going to get a license for an open source software.
Note : They mention that another team has been using licensed python. I thought either IT is so stupid or that team is so smart that they brought license for pycharm or anaconda (claim that it is a Python license) and fooled IT.
If I am wrong then tell me where I can get that license.
And I am also looking for job in data analyst.

2024.05.19 08:01 douxfaery Want to start reselling Korean makeup at 17 - how do I start?

I’m 17, and I’ve had an interest in starting my own company in reselling makeup products, like ulta in america as an example, but I don’t want mine on a large scale like that.
I want something small for now, as I also feel like doing this will be good for my university applications as I plan to study business in uni, and currently major in business at high school.
I live in Asia and so there’s a large market for these kinds of products and malls with shops selling these products. I just don’t know how to start selling.
I’ve looked into:
I’m not sure what’s best for me to do. I want to make it clear that I don’t want to start my own cosmetics brands, I want to RESELL brands, popular makeup brands such as peripera, clio, etc! Thank you !!
Edit: also, how do you find suppliers?
