Target thrower homemade

Instinctive Knife Throwing: No-spin and half-spin

2018.01.20 21:51 FlyingSteel Instinctive Knife Throwing: No-spin and half-spin

Instinctive Knife Throwing is the ability to throw weapons under varied circumstances that becomes second nature. This involves reliably throwing weapons from unknown distances without the need for distance markers, counting paces, dialing in, guessing sweet spots, or luck. The rotation of the weapon is controlled, rather than the distance to the target. This allows weapons to be thrown consistently from ANY distance within the limit of a thrower’s abilities.

2024.05.19 03:01 Ok_Grocery8652 Favorite weapon types for PVE?

Last playthrough I went crossbow and reaper as my weapons on a Private solo server for a set of simple reasons.
Crossbow has the arrow rain at a targeted location, this can do some decent damage to the frontline targets but more importantly can be fired at the backline targets.
Reapers have a version you throw to a location that spins in location, this can do decent damage to the frontline but like the crossbow can attack the backline directly regardless of the front line troops.
These attributes are critical IMO as many fights have the archers/bomb throwers/riflemen in the back being the most important target, that and many bosses spawn lots of backup (like Nickolas the fallen who has a literal battalion of skeletons as a shield)
I have tried the longbow, not too bad but lacks compared to the crossbow, have yet to see a whip.

2024.05.18 16:14 Professional_Prune11 Escape From Heavalun Section Two: Club Chaos

Whats good buds. I hope I did not keep you all waiting too long for a new chapter. I am back with a new fun section of the interlude story between Human Trauma 2 and 3. This time we get a big peak into our leading man's mind and our leading ladies. one being a stuck-up spoiled brat, the other a gruff and too stubborn for his own good gunslinger.
Let's go save our bread
Conor slowly descended the stairs, muscling past a drunken pair of Purletric dancers loitering at the bottom. Once on the ground floor, he vanished into the crowd of undulating, grinding bodies.
None of the dancers paid him any mind as he weaved in and out of their groups. All were far too inebriated to note the predator stalking past or any weapons he carried beneath his jacket. Be it the knife on his hip, the pistol in hand, or the stun granades on his belt.
Clutching the pistol in his metallic hand, Conor wondered what the worn stippling was like to hold. It had been years since his right hand could feel, and the L1-JKL was nowhere near as sharp as when it was manufactured hundreds of standard years ago by Nekarilaqa arms.
At this point, the JKL was ancient, being over tenfold his age. But the Slug thrower was still effective and was integrally suppressed. Those who loved the weapon model would call it the Jackle; Conor was not one of those people.
He preferred to call it the Joker because the pistol was the perfect weapon for his needs or as helpful as breathing on someone. At least the suppressor would make it impossible to hear the weapons report beyond a few meters —-especially with loud base drums.
In an environment as ridiculously voluminous as the nightclub, Conor would not even be able to hear the weapon going off, much less the drunk and high partygoers keying their senses into the ear-splitting music.
Conor’s theory on the level of ignorance the inebriated attendees was given credence when he wrapped his hand on the slimy mouth of one of the Voodal mooks and sent four slugs through his back, blood and viscera showering a group of scantily clad dancers; all of them none the wiser that the warm liquid glowing neon in the club lights was the orange blood of the amphibian.
Instead of taking the time to hide the body in a trashcan like this was a B-rate hollow-flick, Conor shoved the limp body off to the side. the Voodal collapsed against the damp, durecrete wall with a dull thud.
Club security would find the body soon enough and toss it in the alleyway outback, likely assuming he passed out. Until then, the dancers would continue blissfully unaware of the cadaver in their midst. Conor just knew he would likely have to explain to Zyntle why he and Brakul were conducting business in his nightclub; that was in a way taboo for the duo.
“Good kill. Move to the right,” Brakul instructed through the radio. “Next target is lazed.”
“Copy,” Conor muttered coldly into his mask's communication device.
While he passed a pair of green-skinned Kubutals grinding hard against one another, Conor spotted Brakul's laser stock steady on the chest of the next Voodal. He moved quickly, distancing himself from the couple that was only two layers of cloth away from fucking on the dancefloor, needing to speed things up if he was going to win the bet
Once past them, Conor closed the gap between him and the next target, pulling her close. Before the woman registered that she now had a new and less-than-provocative dance partner, Conor slammed her against the wall, pushed his suppressed pistol into her groin, and stitched off four quick shots.
Usually, a bullet smashing your pelvic girdle would cause uncontrolled screaming, But with Conor's metallic elbow crushing the amphibian's trachea, she could only muster a weak croak.
As the Kyrail woman thrashed, her windpipe cracked and crackled; She struggled against Conor like an untamed Rehal: kicking, punching, clawing, all in a desperate animalistic desire to survive. But that could not last forever, and they both knew it; after half a minute, the fight in her amber eyes faded, having drained out with the blood coating her and Conor's boots.
“You better hurry it up; there are only four left,” Brakul mocked as Conor let the dead woman's corpse slump against the wall, and running her pockets.
“You could fucking help me, you Nurlik!” Conor flippantly replied while pulling a bag of visage from the woman's pocket.
“I am helping, just not too much; I still have crit riding on you failing—-remember,” Brakul sniggered.
“This was your idea,” Conor grumbled, leaving the woman gbehind and wafting past another dancer towards the next Kyrail.
Thankfully Brakul did not comment further while Conor was actively dealing with the next target; Brakul might be an asshole, but he was a professional and knew to let Conor work.
Conor covered the gang member's nose with the open bag and drove a swift knee into his grundle; the man’s autonomic functions did the rest. The strike caused them to gasp and breathe in a lungful of the acrid yellowish powder.
The amphibian coughed, bluckling over as his brain was forced to error code by the narcotic. Conor silently thanked Orphian Manufacturing that filters in his mask saved him from the zombifying cloud, unlike the other patrons within arms reach of his last target who also began to fall tot he deck.
“Do I have to remind you of our bet on the Driltol mining platform? Because last I checked, that was your idea,” Brakul commented, shifting his laser to the next target.
Conor huffed in annoyance, remembering that bet and horrible day all too well. He lost five thousand crit and his arm over the course of an hour. All because he was young, inexperienced, hot-headed, and not keeping keyed in on the task.
On top of the physical and financial damage, Conor also learned two important lessons about this line of work. Firstly, he had to stay focused on his current objective while being aware of what was happening nearby.
The second lesson he learned was to trust Brakul's wisdom and counsel. The older mercenary had a far better sense of business and an uncanny ability to tell when a gig would go bottoms up, and they needed to pop smoke.
Those lessons were things Conor still had to remind himself of regularly. He was far more reliable and wise than those days but could not hold a candle up to Brakul.
“Are there any updates on the others?” Conor questioned, slipped behind a pillar, pulling the trigger and splattering another Voodal ganger's brains on the bar, wall, and an unsepecting Farun’se.
“You better hurry up, conman. They just figured out something is going on and are starting to move,” Brakul said calmly.
Grunting to confirm he understood, Conor gave up on flowing like an unseen predator through the crowd and started to force the comparatively diminutive aliens out of the way. Sometimes speed was safety, and with his time hack being measured in seconds—now was one of those times.
Conor pushed through the last group of dancers, most falling to the ground with painful yelps. Once through, he finally had sight of the group of Kyrail. One of the Kyrail was bleeding out on the deck, and two were left standing.
One was a hulking brute with a beer gut, grey scales, and wore a tight tunic like cloth. The red scaled woman was using the older lizard like a shield, yelling something at the Voodal gangers, but the club's music drowned out her voice.
Conor had to give it to the old fool; he had some balls. Even though he was outnumbered and unarmed, he stood stalwart against the last three Voodal gangers, closing the short gap between them.
Balls or not, the Kyrail were not in a winning scenario and would be overwhelmed quickly. With their back-to-wall, Conor had to act fast; there was no way he would lose another bet. Brakul would never let him live that down.
—--
“Stay behind me,” Torkla hissed, pushing Eivaley back from the three aliens.
Eivaley clutched tightly to Torklas clothes and did what she was told. He was the champion appointed ot her by her father; and would fill most of the rolls of a champion until she found someone who could best him.
Her heart was slamming like a hammer and anvil in her chest while the three aliens cackled and kept getting closer. The only question running through her mind and body right now was, what was happening?
This was supposed to be an enjoyable trip, not whatever this nightmare was now.
Daddy had invited her to Heavalun and the COS to get a feeling for the city and the area of space his shipping company was expanding into.
Her father, Vuraley, handled all the tedious paperwork: setting up contacts, buying warehouses, hiring security, and setting up a private spaceport. All she was supposed to do was stay out of trouble, look pretty at a few meetings with clients, and stay close to her security detail.
Now Eivaley was cowering behind the back of one of her clans proudest warriors while three meter-and-a-half tall bipedal frogs brandished weapons and were threatening them. She could not imagine what Daddy would say about this when she got home. Would he cut her allowance? Not let her go out in town again? Or worst of all, not let her go out and see her friends anymore?
Either way, she was not looking forward to what he would do to her—it wasn’t like any of this was her fault.
“Oi, soljah, ‘and, ‘er ovah, and we hont ‘urt yah,” one of the grey-skinned toads croaked, pointing a pistol at Vuraley and flicking off the weapons safety.
“You had better get out of here,” Eivaley hissed reflexively, far to use to having others of her species following her everyword like gospel. “My daddy will have none of this; he will make you all regret this,”
“Stop talking,” Torkla yelled, keeping his eyes on the encroaching Voodal. “you’re not helping.”
What in the grand broods name? Torkla yelled at her. He never yelled at her, even though he had been guarding her since she was a little girl. Torkla was under Oath to obey her, and keep her safe; that includes listening to her. He should not be able to yell at her.
“Yah lil’ lady, yah should listen. We know yer daddy and don’t care, and you are worth too much to pass up,” The Voodal sniggered. “So soljah, yah gonna ‘and ‘er ovah?”
Torkla looked over the men who had paused, slinking closer, and were waiting for his answer. Then he glanced over his shoulder at Eivaley. The girl he might as well have helped raise was shaking like a leaf and needed him to be a rock right now.
“No deal,” Torkla replied, drawing a knife and readying to fight off the aliens or die trying.
The front toad clicked his tongue and languidly twirled the pistol while stepping off to the side. “Come on, no reason tah die fer ‘er. Be reasonable,”
“Torkla would never—” Eivaley started, but he yelled at her again.
“I said shut up,” Torkla barked. “You can get made at me later.”
Eivaley jumped then clutched his jacket and nodded silently, not wanting him to yell anymore. While yes she might be in charge of Torkla and the others her father assigned to her; until she found her own champion she would never have any true power.
“I said no deal,” Torkla affirmed.
The lead toad rolled his eyes and sighed while raising the weapon toward Torkla, readying to slump the stupid royal guardsman.
Once the pistol was full raised they nodded. Both accepting accepting that there was only one way this would go. One of them would end up in a body bag. While the Kyrail and Voodal had many differences this was one thing both accepted.
Neither group would detest giving someone a good death—even though both thought it would be others turn to hit the deck.
The next few seconds were some of the longest, most horrendous moments of Eivaley’s life.
Torkla roared like a beast dredged up from the bottomless dark pits of hell, shot forward, and tried to slip the pistol from the Kyrail’s grip; his fangs snapping as his potent venom trailed passed his lips.
But at his age, Torkla was not the young proud palace guard he was when he was first assigned to be Eivaley’s personal guard.
Now that he was pushing fifty, he was old, slow, and more willing than ever to lay it all on the line for the few people he was bound to protect. Right now, he regrettably could not meet the bill.
A deafening, unsuppressed shot cracked like thunder just as Torklas claws caressed the handgun. The round ripped through his palm and carved a deep canyon in the old warriors skull, showering Eivaley in blood, bone, and brain matter of the man who earlier was chuckling and asking her to dress more modestly.
The crack of the weapon turned the nightclub into pure bedlam. Drunken partygoers screamed while they shoved and trampled one another, desperately trying to get away. Their panic blaring overwhelmed the club's music and Eivaley’s screams.
As soon as the first Kyrail shot Torkla, the others tossed their bags of visage onto Eivaley, showering her in the drug that burned the image of Torkla’s canyoned skull and slumping body into her mind. An image she would remember until her dying breath.
Over her life she would se many more, and had seen hundreds if not thousands of commoners die so far. That one death meant something more to here; but how much it affected her would take many years for her to understand.
“Grab ‘er,” The lead croaker said just before the metallic hand of a massive beast grabbed his head and crushed it like an egg, blood glowing as it squirted between shining metallic fingers.
Whoever just killed the man who shot Torkla picked up the lead ganger and effortlessly tossed the corpse into another one of the gang members. As soon as he was done with that, he lifted his handgun and fired three rounds into the remaining mook, not even bothering to glance fully at them.
In her drug-induced stupor, Eivaley’s mind and body could not focus on anything beyond critical details. Sparse things that stood out so much she could never forget them.
One of the mans arms was covered in metal; whether it was armor or cybernetics, she did not know, nor could she care. At this moment, it was the shining armor of a night of yor: strong, valiant, and rescuing a damsel in distress.
The vissages causing her neurons to misfire, rocketed stories of strong brave men rushing to the rescue of the noble women when their homes were under siege. And as far as seh saw it, this situation was just that.
Her guards failed, and now as if summoned by the gods themselves a brave knight burst forth from nowhere and defied the darkness threatening the dainty princess. No it did not matter she was the 5th princess and would never be queen, just that she had her champion, and it seems that chose her.
Before the visage entirely took effect, Eivaley heard the man say a few words. It was difficult to listen to him through the skull art covered mask he wore, but her savior's voice was deep, reverberating, and filled with clear, driven intent.
“I got the girl; meet you at Stitches’s place,” the man said just as he tossed Eivaley’s now near limp body over his heavily muscled shoulder and rushed through the crowd.
The last thing Eivaley could remember before the visage sunk its fangs deep into her mind was the man kicking open the back door and rushing out into the Heavalun night, bright neon signs, and the dingy alley welcoming them into their midst.
So how did you like this one? nothing to bad right? we are just getting started, and have a fat chunk of chapters left. like my other stories, expect well-timed and thought-out violence and inter-character moments. I hope you give my new tale a chance.
Please do not forget to updoot and comment.

2024.05.18 04:07 MyspaceMafia Frontiersman (Part 2)

Part One
Frontiersman No. 0012: Duke Collins
"Duke, this course of action is not advised. The proprietary weapons and targeting systems have no been tested in live combat scenarios." Aerie chimed in rather swiftly.
"But the asteroids we tested on were atomized, Aerie. Whoever this is clearly needs some help, and this could be actual first contact!" I retorted, still rocketing towards the fleeing vessel. "I sure hope I'm helping the good guys", I thought to myself.
As we approached the vessel, laser shots rang off my stern, but luckily the reactive shielding took the hit. Aerie spoke up again, "Reactive Shielding reduced to 99.5 Percent."
Point five of a percent from their shots? Are they firing wet sponges? The reactive shielding was new tech, examined and supposedly improved by Aerie, but a shot from one of my own weapons should still vaporize my ship, or at most it may take two or three. I thought lasers were some high tech science fiction?
Nearing the enemy ship, I could see the light shimmer of the nearby star reflecting off of the pulsing light from... "Active Shielding?" I thought aloud. I watched as another shot hit the engines of the escaping vessel, and all power went out. The ship began to tumble through the murky black of space like a sleek white coffin. Surely life support was out, and if there's smoke in the cabin, then that means we only have minutes, if they aren't dead already.
"Aerie, I want to try the darts. Load them up and bring up the crosshair." Immediately, and without word, a crosshair was displayed in my vision. As I focused on the enemy ship, the crosshair began to rotate and lock on. The crosshair flashed, indicating that the automated turret on the underside of my ship had locked onto the enemy. I moved to squeeze the trigger, and before I could do so, the weapon fired, seemingly on it's own.
"What th-"
Aerie cut me off. "Experimental. I have linked the ship's HUD with your implants, and you are controlling the weapon remotely. The crosshair is in your vision, not on the ship's HUD. Focus, and it will do, now keep firing, captain."
With my adrenaline pumping, I had no time to even acknowledge the use of the word captain. My first shot lit up the enemy's shield, firing a magnetically propelled tungsten dart with a chromium jacket for increased magnetism. The darts are small, around 12 inches in length, and move at a not-insignificant percentage of the speed of light, somewhere around 1.5 percent. This results in a clean 40 kiloton explosion, if the projectile has something to "explode". I watched as the projectile made contact with the enemy's shield, but unfortunately it seemed to ricochet. The impact brought the shield down with it, but in the vacuum of space, there is no atmosphere to ignite, nor pressure wave to destroy all in it's vicinity. The round was reduced to molecules on impact, glancing off of the shield and into the void of space. I focused on the ship, and willed the gun to fire another shot. This one was just as accurate, but this time there were no shields to interrupt it's path. The ship was there one second, and the next, there was a ball of fire, with the instant ignition of every molecule of atmosphere inside. Debris would be a concern, but the energy transfer rended the ship into pieces no larger than a single dice.
Satisfied with the outcome, I was reminded of my pursuer as Aerie chimed in over the intercoms, "Wake up, Captain. Reactive Shielding at 97 percent." Oh yea, that's right. I decided to put the inertia dampeners to the test. Without altering course, I wheeled the flight stick hard to the right, kicking in the gyroscopic combat and emergency steering. With a heave and the lurching of multiple gyroscopes stopping and starting, the ship instantly wheeled around at murderous speeds. Even with the dampeners, had I not been wearing my harness, I would have been 3 inches into the wall on my right. With a 180 degree turn, I was moving backwards, now facing my target. 2 more shots from the magnetic dart thrower and the target was drifting toward me, now scrap.
For a moment, we sat there, drifting backwards in space. Breakneck speeds don't feel so fast when the vacuum of space is calm. The slight pressure of Aerie activating the Pilot Assist to automatically slow the ship is what brought me back to reality. "Where is the disabled ship, Aerie?"
"They've activated a distress beacon, bringing it up on your HUD now." She replied quickly. A second later and I was seeing a blue light in 3d space. It was to my left, and on the Ship's HUD, it would have shown up as an arrow pointing off screen, but now i was seeing it through the wall, through my own eyes. This was helpful, but I would certainly have to get used to it. Placing my hands back on the controls, I oriented the ship and moved toward our target. They were dead in space, and drifting, rolling slightly forward like a throwing knife in slow motion. With a designation on the target, I used the asteroid harvesting drones to attach to the ship's hull and slow it's spin, and as I waited in space, it began to drift towards me as the drones did their job. Attempting to hail them, I found that their ship appeared to be completely out of power.
This was bad. I had just remembered that, of all the gadgets my ship had, it didn't have a docking umbilical. I was supposed to be out here alone, after all. "Anything we can do about this, Aerie?" I asked. I donned my PowerSuit and headed for the airlock.
"Unsure, Cap- Duke. There appears to be smoke in the cabin, but I'm reading two life signs. I'll be on coms, let me know if I am needed." Aerie said. She always had her reservations, but she never stopped me from doing stupid things, and rarely protested more than once. She was an incredible AI, and even if I were back in United Terran Systems space, I don't think there's anyone I would want more as a friend.
I left my ship with 2 emergency EVA Slimsuit quickfits. I have no idea what these things will look like, but if they fit inside the suits, then the suit should be able to form to their bodies with the press of a button, or at least seal itself so I can get them to safety.
As I approached the vessel to peer through the front viewport, I instead saw smoke emerging from the top of the ship as a hatch opened, venting whatever atmosphere existed into space. My PowerSuit may have been one of the many experimental techs in my arsenal, but it wasn't pretty. It was boxy and big, filled with tech to keep me safe while working in the unknown. Fitted with experimental exploration safety tech, eva thrusters, boosters for maneuvering in light gravitational pull, and the Crème de la Crème, a brand new personal reactive shield generator for protection from stray debris, this suit had little room for beauty. Originally black, it was now a dark gray with a rounded, blocky helmet that had a tinted gold UV resistant visor, and pocked with impact marks from my time learning how to use the suit properly. In contract, what I saw emerging from the venting airlock was... sleek, to sum it up. The suits were a dark blue, with a black metal skeleton that traced the suit, and a carrier rig on the front that likely held a small amount of oxygen and likely some emergency devices. The helmets were sleek and round, with visors black as night that went from below the chin to the center of the top of the head. If this were a human, it would allow us to use the entirety of our field of vision. And this was the strange thing, as they emerged, they had a head, likely bifocal vision, slender shoulders leading into two arms, average looking torsos......and guns.
Pointed at me.

2024.05.18 03:17 Alarmed-Stage-7066 The statue of cookbook perfection - cooking every recipe in the Stardew Cookbook and then bleating about it. First up - Evelyn’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

The statue of cookbook perfection - cooking every recipe in the Stardew Cookbook and then bleating about it. First up - Evelyn’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Because of whimsy & completionism, I've decided to cook every recipe in the new cookbook. I thought it would also be fun to post "reviews" of each recipe here for additional whimsy. Initial, general thoughts on the cookbook are: it is gorgeous and anyone who loves Stardew and cooks AT ALL would enjoy having it. The recipes seem thoughtful and well-crafted. It seems targeted for a more intermediate cook or an adventurous beginner. If you haven't cooked before, this could make a fun first cookbook if you're willing to do some work to learn new skills and try things out. The instructions do a good job of hand-holding without any steps left out. They are (obviously) mostly made from fresh, whole ingredients and most of them are a little more work than a usual weeknight dinner. Scratch cooking with a side of game lore, who could ask for anything more?
I'm going to follow each recipe exactly as written with notes of any substitutions (e.g. I'm not sure if I can source fiddlehead ferns where I live) I plan to do it with teen daughter and we've created two rating systems. Both ratings are completely subjective and just for fun. I'm a hobby, but very experienced (*), cook/baker. Teen is about to turn 16 and obviously not as skilled. Between the two of us we should be able to give you an idea of how hard a recipe would be.
First rating scale: Grandpa's candles, This is how much we (again, subjectively) enjoyed eating the dish.
Second rating scale: Complexity/difficulty/time consumed. On a scale of copper, iron, gold or iridium, how much work is this recipe? The rating might reflect a trickier technique or just a lot of steps/time involved.
Ok - Evelyn's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies!
4 candles; iron/gold
I much prefer baking to cooking, so my first recipe was pretty much guaranteed to be one of the desserts. And Granny Evelyn is one of my fave in-game characters. These cookies are not your usual chocolate chip, or even your usual oatmeal. You make a kind-of buerre noisette (brown butter)(**) and homemade oat flour. So get ready to get your fancy on!
The candle rating was easy - these absolutely melt in your mouth and have a very rich, brown suganutty taste. Yummy yummy. They're crispy and a little on the flatter side, so if you prefer a softer cookie this isn't going to be for you. It's possible mine were slightly flatter than most people would get because I live at an altitude that messes with chocolate chip cookies but nothing else. I had to adjust my personal recipe slightly when I moved here, and I would likely tinker with this one if I made it often. They smell like oatmeal, but don't have a pronounced oatmeal taste. The dough is so salty(***) I was a bit concerned, but it balances out when you bake it.
Objectively the skills involved are probably at the iron level. Making a brown butter can be tricky if you've never done it before. It can be easy to burn it. It's touching gold for me because the brown butter and blending up the oatmeal is getting a little bit labor intensive for what I consider a pretty basic type of cookie. The amount of work is closer to something special, like a Christmas cookie. There are also a few waiting steps that make it take a long time from start to finish (namely: making a brown butter that cools for 20-30 min, a 30 min chilling step followed by a 1 hour+ chilling step). I was internally grumbling about the effort of making a brown butter, but I'll confess that the smell when I whisked the sugar into it was HEAVEN. It's also a smaller batch, so I would likely double it and freeze some if I made this again. The Queen of Sauce even recommends freezing so you can have fresh, warm cookies later and I agree with this technique! I use it all the time with my regular chocolate chip.
Tips for making it a bit easier: I'm a miss en place kind of girl, but I recommend throwing the butter in to start while you assemble your other ingredients. That can cut the waiting time down a little bit. Just keep a good eye on it! The first 30 min chill time is a good amount to clean up your kitchen and the hour plus is a good amount to play Stardew or come to this sub while you wait.
Changes I made: I made them smaller than the recipe calls for. It's supposed to make 16 and I got 21 (plus snitching) so I would probably get 2 dozen if I did it again. I made them smaller because a) my cookie scoop is smaller and b) portions
I'm happy to answer questions. Onward!
(*) As in, meringues and buttercreams and brioche and the like don't scare me and there's very few ingredients I haven't cooked with at one time or another
(**) you get on the road to burre noisette town and get off a few exits before you get there
(***) yes I know you're not supposed to eat raw dough but this was FOR SCIENCE

2024.05.17 23:22 Oogalyboogalyer Ned Kelly Profile

Ned Kelly Profile
Name: Ned Kelly
Titles/Aliases: - The Iron Outlaw - The Best Bushranger - Hero of Glenrowan - Bulletproof Bandit
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Pantheon/Nationality: Australian
Age: 160+
Authority: Bushranger
Appearance: Ned Kelly is a tall and imposing figure, standing at 6 feet with a muscular build that exudes strength and resilience. He has black hair, parted and somewhat unruly, and intense orange eyes that seem to burn with a fierce inner fire. His face is often shadowed by a perpetual scowl, hinting at his turbulent past and determined spirit. Initially, Kelly is seen wearing a black tight shirt under a green jacket, paired with black pants and sturdy boots. When entering combat, he dons his iconic metal armor, including his signature helmet. This armor, while reminiscent of his original makeshift gear, is highly advanced and compact, enhancing his combat capabilities. The helmet, now streamlined and more sophisticated, still retains its iconic slit for vision, giving Kelly a menacing and recognizable silhouette on the battlefield.
Personality: Ned Kelly is characterized by his aggressive and formidable demeanor. He fiercely upholds his own brand of justice, often resorting to extreme measures to protect the innocent from corruption. Despite his ruthless methods, he harbors no intent to harm innocents, embodying a complex sense of morality rooted in his tumultuous past. His sense of justice is unwavering, and he is willing to go to any lengths to fight against oppression and corruption. This makes him a polarizing figure, seen by some as a hero and by others as a dangerous outlaw. Kelly is also fiercely loyal to those he considers allies, and he will not hesitate to put himself in harm's way to protect them. His experiences have made him skeptical and wary of authority, often leading to clashes with those in power.
Backstory: Ned Kelly was born in June 1855 in the rugged countryside of Victoria, Australia. His early life was marked by poverty and hardship, growing up in a family constantly harassed by the police. By the age of 14, he had already come into conflict with the law, beginning his life as a bushranger. Kelly's reputation as a defender of the downtrodden grew as he repeatedly stood up against the corrupt police force of the time, engaging in daring heists and skirmishes. His most famous act came in 1879 when he and his gang donned homemade bulletproof armor and staged a dramatic last stand in the town of Glenrowan. Despite their courage and ingenuity, the gang was eventually overpowered, and Kelly was captured and later executed. His legacy, however, lived on, becoming a symbol of resistance against tyranny and injustice.
Fighting Style: Ned Kelly's fighting style is highly aggressive and direct, relying on his superior strength, resilience, and tactical ingenuity. He charges into battle with little hesitation, using his armor and weapons to overwhelm opponents with relentless force. His approach is brutal and efficient, often taking his enemies by surprise with his unyielding ferocity. Kelly's combat skills are a blend of raw physical power and strategic acumen, honed through countless battles and skirmishes. He is adept at using his environment to his advantage, often turning the tide of battle with unconventional tactics and sheer determination.
Supernatural Power: Ned Kelly does not possess any supernatural powers, relying instead on his formidable physical prowess and advanced armor. His strength, endurance, and combat skills are the result of years of hard living and relentless training, making him a formidable opponent even without magical abilities.
Volund/Divine Weapon: Iron Armor of the Outlaw: Ned Kelly's iconic iron armor has been significantly upgraded through a Volund with the Valkyrie Göndul. This divine weaponry is equipped with an array of hidden guns and weapons, providing Kelly with an arsenal that enhances his combat effectiveness and tactical versatility. The armor retains its bulletproof properties but is now much lighter and more maneuverable, allowing Kelly to move with surprising speed and agility. The helmet, a key feature of his original armor, has been enhanced with advanced targeting systems and enhanced vision capabilities, making him a formidable marksman.
Named Techniques:
  1. Iron Shots: Ned Kelly's armor is equipped with hidden compartments that reveal powerful artillery guns. These guns unleash a barrage of bullets at his enemy, overwhelming them with rapid and devastating firepower. The precision and volume of the shots make it difficult for opponents to dodge or counterattack. The Iron Shots technique is especially effective in medium to long-range combat, allowing Kelly to keep his enemies at bay while inflicting significant damage.
  2. The Bushranger's Bang: Kelly fires an explosive TNT charge from his armor. This attack is designed to deal massive area-of-effect damage, capable of decimating opponents and disrupting their formations. The explosion not only deals physical damage but also creates a disorienting shockwave, making it difficult for enemies to regain their footing. The Bushranger's Bang is a versatile technique that can be used to break through enemy lines or to create strategic openings in their defenses.
  3. Knives Out: From within his suit, Ned Kelly fires a volley of knives at his enemy. These knives are launched with great speed and accuracy, capable of piercing through armor and defenses. This technique is ideal for mid-range combat and can incapacitate multiple targets simultaneously. The knives are designed to be both lightweight and durable, allowing them to maintain their trajectory even in adverse conditions. Knives Out is a testament to Kelly's adaptability and resourcefulness in combat.
  4. Rocket Armor Boost: Utilizing rocket boosters integrated into his feet, Ned Kelly propels himself at high speeds towards his enemy. This technique allows for rapid mobility and can be used to close distances quickly or deliver powerful, high-speed strikes. The impact from his charge can cause significant damage and disorient opponents. The Rocket Armor Boost also enables Kelly to perform evasive maneuvers, making him a difficult target to hit. This technique showcases his ability to blend speed and power in his fighting style.
  5. Outlaw Zone: Kelly releases a swarm of heat-seeking rockets from his armor. These rockets relentlessly track their target, making evasion nearly impossible. The ensuing explosions create a chaotic battlefield, forcing opponents into defensive positions and allowing Kelly to maintain the offensive. The Outlaw Zone technique is particularly effective in overwhelming multiple opponents, as the rockets can track and attack different targets simultaneously. This ability underscores Kelly's strategic prowess and his ability to dominate the battlefield.
  6. Bulletproof Barrage: Combining his armor’s defensive capabilities with offensive prowess, Kelly uses his indestructible armor to absorb and deflect incoming attacks while countering with a relentless assault. This technique showcases his resilience and ability to turn defense into a powerful offensive strategy. By using his armor to absorb damage, Kelly can maintain his momentum in battle, striking back with increased ferocity. The Bulletproof Barrage is a testament to Kelly's unyielding spirit and his refusal to back down in the face of adversity.
Quotes:
  1. "Justice ain't a thing for the faint-hearted. It’s carved out by the strong."
  2. "I’ve faced death more times than I can count. What makes you think you'll be any different?"
  3. "In the end, it’s not about who’s right. It’s about who’s left standing."

2024.05.17 20:34 TwistedDragon33 Strategem, Equipment, Mechanics, Weapon Ideas

I am not the highest level and i have not unlocked everything but these are some ideas i had for possible Stratagems, etc.
Stratagem: Ice Drop (Eagle) - A fire suppression, large area of effect drop that besides stopping/putting out fire. It prevents fire in the area for a short duration and gives the cold/freezing condition. Also slows movements for enemies unless they are specifically rated for cold/cold armor.
Stratagem: Fire Eye (Orbital) - A strat that is called down in a radius of the call point which makes a ring of fire surrounding the point. Almost like the HE barrage but of a consistent fast firing small napalm explosions as a form of area denial with a min/max range so the center is free of bombardment. Enemies can still move through the area but they will take damage (so will helldivers, use carefully).
Stratagem: Needle Rain (Orbital) - An orbital bombardment similar to a shotgun blast from space that launches tons of somewhat small metal rods that pierce the enemies. Besides doing damage the rods also make the enemies take more damage from arc based weapons, partially bypassing armor.
Stratagem: Nailgun (Orbital) - Orbit strike launching a guided, large, non-explosive spike. The spike can pin enemies preventing movement for a short period. Can puncture armor. Allowing enemy to be finished off with other methods (if it survives the spike).
Stratagem: Energy Sentry (Sentry) - Sentry gun utilizing multiple beam weapons (1-4) that fire at targets within range. Each beam will only target 1 enemy and wont combine on a single enemy allowing it to do better at eliminating small crowds instead of big enemies.
Stratagem: Flame Sentry (Sentry) - Turret with a flame thrower.
Stratagem: Hijack (Support Weapon) - Fires a technobabble projectile that tries to "take control" of the target and make it hostile to it's allies. The largehigher tier the enemy the more likely it fails (with a chance of success).
Equipment (Grenade): Energy Grenade - Similar to basic grenade but shorter blast radius, more damage, and heat mechanic.
Equipment (Grenade): Slug Impact Grenade - Like the impact but blasts a very narrow directional blast toward the impact point. High damage, no blast radius, high armor piercing.
Equipment (Grenade): Arc Grenade - When thrown it continuously blasts arc
Strategem: Baller (Support Weapon) - Machine gun with large backpack mounted ammo drum. Fires paintball like pellets of caustic material. Each bullet does almost no damage but adds to the DPS with a DPS multiplier based on the amount of pellets impacted. A pure DPS weapon with ramping scale.
Mechanics: A fellow HD should be able to "buddy reload" your weapon from your own backpack instead of having to have the backpack equiped themselves.
Mechanics: Mounted/Emplaced guns should be able to be ripped off and walked around with similar to halo, with exaggerated recoil and slower carry as fitting.
Mechanics: If you pull out a stratagem and pull back to throw it, an option to cancel the throw would be nice.
Mechanic: "Paint the Target" - A stratagem type that when used will give a pair of binoculars instead of a ball. Looking through the optics will "Paint" the target for a more precise Eagle and Orbital attacks for specific stratagems but the HD will be vulnerable having to hold the lock/paint.
Just some ideas, curious what the community thinks.

2024.05.17 18:32 SplashKitty Which new weaponry/armor would you like to see added to the game?

Every update this game gets I'm hopeful they've added something content wise, instead of just a new expansion pass full of garbage weapons that I'll use once or not at all. I was thinking about how easy it would be (probably, I don't develop games) to add already existing elements of strategems into new ones.
For example:
Orbital Arc Bomb (explodes on impact, chaining lightning to light armored targets in a radius)
Incendiary Mortar (this seems obvious)
Napalm ThroweAutocannon for your Mech (this could be an attachment you find on bot missions in a base, maybe from a dead Hulk or something that takes up a strategem or equipment slot. Would be cool to be able to change weapons on the mech in general, making it useful for both types of missions)
Eagle Gas Strike (same as the orbital but deployed linearly)
As for ship modules, there could be something added to each category, like sentries have increased ammo or damage, maybe Eagle could have an extra set of utilities you can use before they have to go back and re-arm, etc.
For armor, god the armor selection is so bland and boring, there's so many different looks and styles yet they all have the same bonuses. Nobody needs to throw things "30% farther." The new chest plates in the Polar pass look the same as medium armor, but are classified as heavy armor, which isn't appealing cause if I'm playing a tank build I want to look and feel like a big boy. There could be light armor that increases your movement speed (servo assisted legs) as opposed to just having better stamina. Heavy plate armor should negate bullet and melee damage, not just explosions, perhaps at the cost of taking extra damage from arc weapons. There could be heavy flame resistant armor that helps you not get burnt to a crisp when fighting Hulks or being literally anywhere on Hellmire.
Helmets not having bonuses is stupid, there could be helmets that help you breathe/see better in hostile weather, like on snow or sand planets. This could allow you to move better through a storm or whatever. Maybe a helmet that has increased radar capabilities that could help you see the map during an ion storm or something, maybe negate the effects of a stratagem jammer.
Any other news ideas you'd like to see implemented? I feel like most high level players would agree, progression stopped a long time ago, I had every strategem by level 30 ish and just got the last ship module at level 70. I know there's been talk of a new species coming and I'm just hopeful there's new weapons implemented alongside them.

2024.05.16 18:48 Observer-Finland Team REPR´s second in command. (My second character.)

Letter E in team name: Elena Nathara
Sex: Female
Age: 25 during the Fall of Beacon, 26 Atlas arc
Birthday: 7th day of 4th month
Species: Faunus, snake. Notable markers are snake eyes and tongue. (Several generations of snake faunus family is/are the reason for more than one trait.
Height: 1,77 meters
Family: A father, mother died in a mining accident when working for SDC. She has no other relatives, as far as she knows,>! yet she is rumoured to have an older sister working with crime families of Vacuo.!<
Class: Assassin. Speciality: Offence, the killing of key targets during battle, moving in the environment.
Appearance: Athletic, strong body, medium-length green-coloured hair, and green eyes.
Colour: Yellow, yet likes green more.
Weapons: A sword gauntlet in her left and right arm with a magnetized flame thrower on the right one(or uses a flame thrower that she carries on her back) and a small crossbow in the left one. She uses, on occasion, metal cloves with poison-laced claws.
History: Elena Nathara was born to a snake faunus mother and a snake faunus father in Vacuo. Her childhood wasn´t an easy one. Her mother died in a mining accident when she was 11. She had to learn to survive at an early age and had to work in different jobs to stay alive as part of her training. Her father was a huntsman who trained Elena to fight with mentors he trained with in his early life to teach her about the world, to move unseen, move fast in different environments and to use her charm to gain information and gain access to secure places.
When she was 17 years of age, she did huntsman assessment trials and passed with excellent grades. Instead of going to Shade Academy, she took the opportunity that a Beacon Academy faculty member who was visiting Vacuo made for her to go train at Beacon. While suspicious of the teacher´s intentions, she accepted the offer on condition that her father was allowed to move to Vale. Later in her life, she started to wonder whether the teacher was looking for her specifically under the orders of Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon, yet she couldn´t prove anything, and she did profit from it anyway.
She met Rogert Oberon during initiation and became his partner for the rest of initiation. They showed great teamwork and the ability to complement their respective skills. They became members of REPR with Rogert in charge. Elena became Rogert´s most trusted ally and a teacher in parkour and advanced hand-to-hand skills in the team. Over time, Elena grew close to Roth, and Raina became the kind of younger sister Elena never had.
During Elena´s time in the Beacon, Elena gained an interest in singing and becoming a doctor, both interests reinforced by her talent pool. After graduation, Elena wanted to travel the world to see what else is there in the Kingdoms other than Vale and Vacuo.
Current location: Unknown, last seen in Mistral near its capital. No recent sightings.
Profession: Solo working Huntress for hire.
Personality:
Semblance: Kinetic redirection, Elena can transfer her stored speed energy to hit harder.
=Redacted theories to authorized personnel only as follows: Kinetic redirection assumed aura-based technique that is relatively common among Huntsmen. Theories about a semblance that is easily covered and hard to prove without more information. Permission is requested to search for the information with more hands-free methods. 2024.05.16 14:48 Sunako-Kirishiki Electric effects & Warbond Idea

Electricity should do double damage to bots with strong staggestuns; for bugs, it should do normal damage and light stagger, but also have a chance (with increased chance the smaller the bug), to stunlock the bug it hits directly (with a lesser chance per subsequent arc). It would be funny to have a rare or so special animation for the bug stun that is a straightening/contraction of the bug's limbs giving it rigid limbs and allow it to fall over using the standard ragdoll physics.
If they are to make a electricity themed warbond it should stay more on theme than we have been getting in the past, I would imagine it would look something like what ai have proposed below.
Side note: due to limited thought placed into balancing the damage placeholder examples, they likely would need a serious change or two, as they are just loose estimates that seemed good at the time of typing.
Warbond name Ideas "Shock Troopers" "Tesla Terrors" "Super Charged"
Grenade ideas:
Electric "aoe" Grenade does the same effect as shooting the blitzer in 5 directions and arc thrower 3 times at detonation point, so it has high possible single target damage or multi target damage
An alternate could be funtionaly thermite grenade style, but a hi cap power cell that stabs into a target to latch on and acts as a temporary mini arc tower directly on the target but can still work if missed as a small range weak defense tower with short lifespan and limited hp if not invulnerable. It would provide arc thrower blasts every other second or so for as is good for balance.
Other Alternative could be just like the first, but with single target only damage where the grenade has a instant discharge that arcs to one target, the biggest unit in its set range; where it just strikes the flooenvironment if no units are in its radius. It wouls do heavy damage of course and a strong stagger to targets that arent instantly killed. (Instant kills a devestator and brood commander, maybe a stalker.)
Primary ideas:
SEAF SPIEDR (spider) Special Provisions Issued Electric Dischargeing Rifle. A marksman type rifle/energy weapon that is similar to the scorcher in regular use but with a delay before fireing each shot like the initial delay of the sickle, can tap to fire without needing to hold the fire button like sickle, it is semi auto or a slow (but not slower than achievable with semi) full auto and it hits one target per shot without any arcs at maybe 25% of the damage of the Blitzer while being fairly accurate and long range. Uses high capacity battery cells that look like 9 volt batteries for ammo at ~20 shots per cell (displayed with charge meter on rifle) has an alt fire setting that utilizes a pre chargeing pump mechanism located on the bottom like the blitzer, useing the same blitzer reload animation that eliminates the pre-fire delay of the next shot and consumes increments of 5 units of charge per pump for added damage. (can pump with sub 5 for the remaining 4,3,2, or units of charged damage potential). Precharged shots are indicated with a 0 to 4 circular light dot on each capacitor located on the rifle. Charged firing uses a proportional aesthetic in regards to arc thickness, brightness, and in its sounds on discharge/fireing. Charged fireing uses a diminishing return system where each 5 units of charge are worth 100%-75%-50%-25% damage efficency potential per unit of charged shot damage. This means each unit of charge at an example damage of 80 dmg (example base uncharged shot damage) then charged ahot values in pumps of 5 would give full damage per unit of charge at first pump giving a total of 400 dmg.then at 75% each for second pump it would total 700 (400 + 300), then 3 pump charge is 900 (400 + 300 + 200) while the last pump would only offer an extra 100 dmg capping at 1000 dmg total with these example numbers. And of course, I would be using the full mag in the process of firing one shot at 4 pumps. Also, when holding a charge, it adds an aesthetical electrical sparking along the barrels capacitors (4 small cylinders holding power on the gun itself outside of the battery before fireing / dischargeing). when keeping primed a charged shot the energy in it will slowly discharge at 1 shot's worth of damage per 10 seconds *after initial 10 seconds since last pump however the drainage stops at 1 remaining shots worth of capacity, leaving the user with a visable indication in the form of a minor sparking affect to display that its no longer brimming with power but in its weakened state is still primed to fire without any pre shot delay.
Reaper (R.E.A.P.R) Rapid Electrical Arc Pulse Rifle The second primary should be a moderate paced auto arc gun that after arc guns pre shot delay fires steady zap zip zap zip zap like pummeler or liberator concusive at around 8% to 15% of the stratagem grade arc gun damage; ahould have a large box style battery on the back of the rifle holding 100 shots, with 2 spares. Can use semi-auto to full auto and has 150% of the range of the flamethrower.
Ideas for Secondaries:
SEAF Standard Emergancy kit Handgun Simple starter handgun style but slower firerate, 60 dmg thin electrical textured blue laser peojectile (like a smaller sickle projectile but lightning) that uses a cool down function for ammo economy and when fireing has a safe mode that fires at max rate that it can without risking overheating, and an unsafe mode that can fire as fast as the starter handgun but can overheat using up a heatsink)
Project H.B aka Honey Bee A bug or bot movement arrestor A larger handgun that resembles a smaller barreled grenade pistol that uses a bee stinger esque barbed dart projectile with its medium armor penetrating barbed conical anchor pointed caseing that holds an impact activated module which starts an incremental electrical stun gun style energy discharge. In practice it handles just like the grenade pistol. However like the thermite grenade these projectiles will stick to the target. They will deal an initial damage 400 or so, then will begin to provide electical stuning effects and damage in pulses starting ~2 seconds after impact, it should apply a stun release stun release effect that will immobilize and deal an additional yet nominal electrica type damage from those stunning pulses. (For balance reasons, if the effect cant apply to any strong units such as hulks or tanks, it should at least cause a quick and light stagger per pulse on the hulks that reduce accuracy and for tanks should just reduce accuracy and or disallow fireing of the main gun *if it is the normal cannon tank)

2024.05.16 09:15 Disastrous_Pattern_3 Don't go backpacking in Tahoe National Forest

Warning: Mentions of violence, blood, and some self harm near the end.
While browsing some random conspiracy site, I found what is a supposedly leaked file from the Nevada County Sheriff's Department; however, nothing has been confirmed. According to the OP, it is believed the following is the personal account of a 21 year old Jonathan Ashford of Grass Valley, California. Normally I would write stuff like this off but this one is...different. I’ve done my best to correct most of the grammar and misspelling while at the same time trying to avoid skewing the original account.
-September 15, 2022
I’ve never really been an outdoor person. Well, I guess that’s because I’ve never really been outdoors much in the first place. And that’s because I guess…I've never been invited? I don’t really have any friends. So, needless to say, I was surprised to find myself on a backpacking trip with a group of 5 other students from my university. The plan was five days in Tahoe National Forest some place called Mystery Lake. Monday-Friday. I don’t know why they decided to do it during the week. Most of us had okay grades at best and part time jobs on the side so taking a week off of it all seemed at the very least a bit irresponsible; and yet, I went anyway. Listen, I didn’t plan it, okay? This was one of my only chances to get to know people. The hike wasn’t too long but my genius self who had only been backpacking once when I was around 9 years old or so decided to carry 60 pounds of bullshit up the mountain resulting in my shoulders being sore and raw for the foreseeable future.
-10:11 PM
To be honest, I don’t really know why they let me come with them. I only know one of them and the group has been ignoring me for pretty much the entire trip. I was always bringing up the back on the hike in and I set up my tent outside of the main camp behind some trees. I haven’t eaten any meals with them or talked to them or, now that I think about it, anything really. Regardless. The trip has been an experience. Hopefully things get more exciting tomorrow.
-September 16
I’ve only ever slept in a tent a couple times so the new environment and lack of sleeping pills resulted in quite a restless night. I woke up at about eleven; everyone else was gone. I remembered they were talking about a day hike on a trail headed north so assuming that’s where they went, I hurried to get dressed and grabbed some granola bars. I’m about to head out. I hope I find them.
-12:21 PM
I’d been briskly walking for around an hour and was feeling quite exhausted so when I heard the group’s voices off in the distance I was very relieved. I started to jog in their direction when–when this jolt or–wave of energy flooded my mind. My head instantly started throbbing and my vision went blurry. The best way I could describe it is–TV static? Like the old TVs that would go all staticky when the signal got bad. I could barely make out shapes and a space in the middle of my vision was especially dark to the point where I couldn’t see past it. That wasn’t the worst of it, though. God no, if only I was that lucky. I can still hear the shrieking. That goddamn shrieking. In an instant all I could hear was this sharp, scratchy shrieking. It pierced through my ears and rooted itself in my head. I think I cried out in pain but even if I did I couldn’t have heard it. It was as if the damned souls of hell all cried out in eternal pain all at once and begged for death. I gripped and pulled at my hair, hardly noticing the pain that resulted from it as I fell to my knees in agony before…
I slowly opened my eyes. My head hurt and there was a slight buzzing in my ears. I lay in a pile of ivy next to a fallen log, my back dampened from the cool soil beneath me. I stood up, the hill on which I previously stood was nowhere in sight. As I leaned my shoulder against a tree to steady myself I heard voices. Cautiously, I walked through the foliage as the low vines dragged along my ankles. As I walked, I looked up. The falling sun cast a soft orange glow across the sky. It was probably around five O’clock or so. I climbed up on a large rock only to realize I was near the main camp. I pin-pointed the voices of my fellow campers as they huddled around a low-burning campfire. As I sat down to listen to them speak I could sense a strong feeling of uneasiness resonating from the group. Then it hit me.
“Are you sure you haven’t seen her since earlier this afternoon?” One of them said, I think his name was Matthew? He was tall and lean, by far the tallest in the group.
“I’m sure! It just doesn’t make sense. One minute she was behind me going on about who knows what and then the next when I turn around she’s gone!” A girl with light brown hair said. I didn’t know her name. I could see tears forming at the corner of her eyes as the wind blew her hair into her face.
“We need to find her before it gets dark. Groups of two; stick together!” A shorter man with brown hair said. Ryan. He was the only one I knew. We weren’t friends. Definitely not. But he was nice enough to me in the classes we had together and I was grateful that I was able to go on the trip with him. As he walked past the boulder I sat beside, paying me no mind, I saw his lower lip quiver as his wide eyes looked straight ahead. He was more nervous than he led on. I zoned out for a few seconds, the static from earlier crawling its way into the corners of my vision when a chipmunk climbing a tree snapped me back to reality and I realized I had been left at camp. I looked around at the tall forest but the group was nowhere in sight. I assumed they wanted me to wait at camp in case the missing girl, Alice, came back, but as I moved toward the dying campfire the call of nature occupied my thoughts. I found a spade and a roll of toilet paper and strode briskly into the forest, the cool Autumn air rushing against my chapped lips as I walked. I reached over to scratch an itch on my arm when I saw it.
“The fuck?” I wondered out loud. There on my upper forearm was…a bite mark. I rattled my brain trying to think what could have made that kind of mark. As I examined it more I confirmed my suspicions. It seemed human. At least I think it was human. It’s not like there are any goddamn monkeys native to Middle of Nowhere, California. There was also a dark purple bruise on my lower forearm. Didn’t remember getting that either.
I looked around for a good spot. Stepping over a log, I set my foot down on something soft. It was Alice. Her right hand crushed and mangled and a dried trickle of blood at the corner of her mouth had pooled on a flattened leaf. I screamed, tripping and falling back in the direction I hoped was the camp. As I jumped over a rock I landed hard on my left ankle as a streak of pain shot up through my body. I was trying to get back up when I heard it. The screeching. It steadily yet quickly faded in until it flooded my hearing. My vision was clouded by that same static. I curled up into a ball, kicking at the air. My eyes watered and I felt the urge to vomit…
A wave of dizziness hit me as I opened my eyes and fell on my tailbone, pain shooting up my back. I lay down on my back and looked up at the trees, my nose bloody. It was still dark. Had I been standing? I tried to recall what I had been doing but all I remembered were faded images. One thing I didn’t forget was the screeching. All that I could remember was covered by that screeching and a faint veil of that static. Just thinking about it made my head throb.
A groan. I nearly jumped out of my skin as I turned to look in the sound’s direction. It was David. He looked injured, lying on the ground, but quickly crawled back in what looked like fear when he saw me.
“You bitch!” He muttered between gritted teeth. Before I could react he was up on his feet charging in my direction. I tried to doge him but the wind was quickly knocked out of me as he headbutted me in the stomach. I fell back onto the ground and between coughs I saw him running towards me. Before he could deliver a heavy stomp to my chest I caught his foot and kicked up into his groin. He stumbled back with a low yelp of pain and, taking my chance while he was stunned, I stood up as fast as I could and prepared to block another attack. He ran up to me and attempted to deliver a blow to my stomach with his right fist, leaving his upper body undefended; I used the opportunity to send a hard punch into the side of his neck. He fell back choking, tears in his eyes. As he tried to sit down he tripped on a root and hit his head on a nearby boulder with a sickening crack. He squirmed for a moment, then nothing.
Silence. There was a faint red stain on the side of the rock, and beneath his blood-stained hair, his head seemed unnervingly misshapen. The closer I looked, the more I saw. Bruised neck, flowing blood, even some pinkish bone exposed near the worst of the damage to his skull. The fall must’ve been worse than I thought. Why would he attack me? What was wrong with him? Had he mistaken me for someone else? I sat against the blood-stained boulder and leaned my head back. I’m exhausted. Everything hurts. My ankle is throbbing. I can’t remember how long it’s been since I’ve slept and I don’t know what to do. I should probably go try to find the camp but…I’m too tired. I think I’m going to go to sleep now.
-September 18
I slept through the entire day and most of the night! Or, at least I think I did. The more I think about it I’m not so sure. It’s like 2:30 AM, glad my phone still works even if my brain doesn’t, just wish I had signal. I’m not sure what to do but I might try to go find
-4:29 AM
Something’s definitely out here with us. Or–me. Not sure how many of the others are left out here. I’m sure that shrieking is tied to something. I heard something off in the distance while writing and decided to go check it out. It was Matthew and that other girl. They were walking briskly and their eyes seemed to be darting around frantically. They were talking in hushed tones but from what I heard they found Alice's body, and they were worried. I was about to reveal myself to them when the shrieking came back. It hit me like a train, and sometimes I think a train would have hurt less. It felt like it lasted for hours, I bit a hole through my lip and fell off of the boulder I was sitting on. I couldn’t see anything except a dark patch of static in the middle of my vision surrounded by more static. All the cuts and bruises in my body seemed to amplify and I could barely breathe. I just wanted it to stop but it wouldn’t. It wouldn’t stop.
The two were dead when I came to. I wasn’t much better off myself. No matter how much I spit I can’t get the taste of blood out of my mouth. My arms are covered in cuts and bruises and my shoulder was dislocated. That was a fun half hour figuring out how to put it back in place. I think whatever is out here with us clouds your vision and makes it impossible to hear anything as a way to hunt you. I’m amazed it hasn’t killed me yet. I hope Ryan is still out there.
-6:06 AM
It’s been a long night. A really long night. I found Ryan but–but now I wish I hadn’t. It was around five AM I think, I had been aimlessly wandering through the forest looking for something, anything. By the most unlucky luck Ryan came stumbling around a tree. When he saw me his eyes went wide.
“Jon, what the hell?” Then he squinted his eyes and seemed to notice the wounds on my arm.
“Oh god,” he said. Then, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small knife, glaring at me during the process. Before I could reply, he charged me, knife in hand. I–I didn't want to kill him. I really didn’t. He tackled me to the ground, forcing the knife close to my chest. I desperately tried to push him away and being the stronger one, I knocked him off me. As he hurried to get back on top of me I sent my right leg flying into his arm, knocking the knife from his hand. Before he realized what was happening I grabbed the knife from the ground. In what seemed like a last desperate attempt he tried to force me down again but, already having the knife in my hand, I quickly slashed his chest and one of his wrists without thinking. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t mean to kill him! I was just defending myself. I don’t know why he attacked me, what’s gotten into him and David? Is that thing controlling them? They didn’t seem like they were under some kind of spell…I don’t think so at least.
After a soft cry of pain he collapsed and rolled down the steep hill we were standing on. I didn’t bother looking for his body. No point. Odds are that thing would use his body as a trap for me or something. I don’t know anymore.
Somehow I found my way back. I don’t remember how, all I remember is collapsing against a tree out of exhaustion but, here I am at the trailhead. I guess my half dead brain forgot most of it. I don’t know what I’ll do now, I don’t think I’ll tell the police. If they hear that some creepy ghost creature is hiding out in the forest killing my friends I’ll probably get locked up in who the fuck knows where for who the fuck knows what. But, no matter how many or how few believe me, I know something is out there. And I know it’s dangerous. I doubt the bodies will ever be found. That forest is huge and I buried Matthew and Elizabeth, found her name in a backpack she had on.
This will be my last entry. My name is Jonathan Ashford, and I survived something dangerous in the Tahoe national forest. Whatever you do, do not go there. Goodbye.
-September 22, 2022, 5:06 PM
Ryan survived. The police are after me. Apparently he told them I stalked them in the forest and picked them off when they weren’t together. I don’t know what’s happening. There are some gaps in my memory but I know that I didn’t kill those people. I only killed David, and that was self defense. I’m not sure what I’ll do. The police don’t know where I am but I’m sure that won’t last long.
-8:19 PM
I saw an interview with Ryan on the local news while browsing channels. He seemed–off. There were bags under his eyes and his skin was pale. He seemed nervous, shaky. I hope he’s ok. I still don’t understand why he thinks I killed them.
-September 23, 3:12 AM
ok ok. I have a theory. I’ve been up all night thinking and it makes so much sense now. That thing can shriek. Terrifying right? But explainable. The static I still can’t make sense of, there’s no feasible way it could naturally do that. What if whatever supernatural force causes the static can also control people? Maybe that’s why Ryan looks so crazy. It must be controlling him. But why would it want me? Am I immune to its effects? Maybe.
-6:04 AM
They didn’t notice it. It didn’t hit them. When I was spying on Matthew and Elizabeth, right before they were–anyways.
The shrieking hit my ears before the static hit my eyes and in those few seconds, they didn’t notice. It didn’t affect them. They didn’t hear the shrieking. Maybe the shrieking is that monster thing's abilities failing to control me. Maybe that's why ryan-whatever’s controlling Ryan wants me. It’s because I’m a threat to it. Because It can’t control me. When I woke up I was injured, but never killed like the others. Maybe it doesn’t have as much power over me as others.
But why would the authorities believe Ryan? There’s no way his story can add up. Even if that creature, that thing, is intelligent, it can’t be that smart to fake a story. Why are they after me?
-11:42 PM
The police came by today. I was about to update this log again when they started banging on my door. I was able to sneak out a window before they noticed me, glad I live on the ground floor.
Something seemed off about them. I can’t say what but, something, like the uncanny valley effect, where something looks human but isn't. Whatever. It’s probably just my imagination. I need sleep.
-September 24, 2:20 AM
Something is wrong–something is definitely wrong. How did they find me? Holy shit that was close! I was dozing by a couple of dumpsters behind a gas station. Figured it was safe enough since it was out of the way and partly blocked by a fence until I heard dogs barking. Not sure how many of them there are, at least two–maybe three, I can still hear them barking. I figured they were just strays that would hopefully leave me alone until I saw the lights. Damn things half-blinded me!
“Son, what are you doing back here? Can we walk to you?” one of the officers said, his face was clammy and pale, he seemed tired, he seemed–off. I didn’t respond or wait for them to try and get closer, I dashed past them before they could call their dogs on me and jumped the fence, running into the tree line. I managed to climb my way up a tree a ways into the woods before they could get around the fence and send their dogs out. They haven’t found me yet, but they’re still looking for me. I can see their flashlights periodically bathing the tree line in a pale glow. I think I’ll try to wait them out and then climb down and run for as long as I can. Not sure where I’ll go yet but they keep finding me so I’ll have to get creative. Not sure how they’re finding me so quickly and easily, but maybe I can come up with something. Is that–thing finding me? Does it always know where I am? Is it controlling the police? Maybe that's why they looked so…wrong. I don’t know. I’m starting to think I don’t know anything anymore. I keep noticing the static in the corner of my vision occasionally, not sure why.
-September 24, 5:03 PM
I fucked up. Big time. Last night, somehow, I fell asleep. I don’t know how, guess I was just too exhausted. The sound of a helicopter pierced through the top of the tree line. Before I could register everything, I slipped and fell down the tree. I was able to slow my fall a bit by dragging my hands along the tree–hurt like a bitch–but I still landed hard. Can barely sit down. I think I was able to avoid being detected by the helicopter. I’m going to start walking. Not sure where but, I need to go somewhere. The static is constantly in the corner of my vision whenever I focus on it now. Why is this happening?
-10:44 PM
This doesn’t make any sense, I don’t know what's happening anymore! I was wandering through the forest when the static came back. God, it was awful, forgot how bad it was. Hell, maybe it was worse this time. Who knows. This isn’t the weirdest, or worst, part. I woke up in my apartment, I’m exhausted, but don’t have any new visible injuries despite how shitty I feel. Not sure why that thing didn’t try to hurt me, maybe it gave up on trying.
The news was on when I woke up, God I’m so fucked. They found the bodies–the ones that I buried. Of course they found my DNA all over them, used their forensics or whatever to try to explain how I killed everyone. I’ll have to admit if it wasn’t all a setup by some evil entity out to get me it would be pretty convincing. Sometimes–I find myself believing it. I don’t know what to think at this point, nothing makes sense anymore. The static is far more noticeable now. My head is starting to hurt, too.
They haven’t come back to my apartment yet, probably don’t think I would return this soon after they searched the place. I know they’ll be here eventually but I’m too tired to care right now. My brother and his kids used to live a few hours out of town, I think he built a treehouse for his kids somewhere behind the house. Maybe I’ll go try and hide out there for as long as I can. As if that will be very long at all.
-September 26, 6:24 PM
Everywhere I look, everything I watch. They’re always out for me. Everyone is looking for me. The things the police and the media keep saying about me–the evidence that gets released every day, the testimonies, officials saying I have symptoms of psychological problems like psychosis and DID, of Bipolar. More and more–I’m starting to believe it myself. Surely it's that thing. Surely it’s getting in my head…right?
-September 27, 1:03 PM
Made it to the treehouse, glad it’s still here. Had a few close calls along the way when trying to steal food from gas stations but I made it ok. Glad I did, the static is starting to really cloud my vision and my head hurts so bad my ears are starting to ring. I’m not out of the woods yet, that’s for sure. I can sense them...it. They’re trailing me. I think they’re getting close.
I’m so tired, so confused. I don’t know what to do, what to think anymore. What’s next? Maybe I’ll try to get some rest…if I can, that is.
I could try to come up with something, some silver bullet or whatever. I have this one idea, it’s not smart or clever, not even close, but it’s an idea, and it won’t let it–them–it, whatever, win. At least I don’t think it will; besides, surely it has a bigger plan for me, right? There’s no way it would go through all this effort just to kill me…
-4:39
They found me. I can hear them outside. They’re getting closer.
To be honest, I don’t know anymore. Maybe I did kill all those people, maybe I am insane. I don’t know what to believe. There’s so much being said, so many people saying it. I’m just so confused, so tired, so scared.
There's a bomb on the chair beside me, homemade. Glad I grabbed enough supplies to build it. Took me a while to figure it out as well as a few close calls but I think I got it working. They’ll have quite the surprise waiting for them once they find me…
They’re at the base of the tree now. The static has almost completely consumed my vision and my head feels like it’s about to explode. I don’t know what’s real and what’s not anymore. I’m not sure why I was made the target of this, why this is happening to me at all, but regardless of the reason, I won’t let them win.
To the creature, or entity, to whatever is doing this to me: I’ll see you in Hell.
Goodbye
Aside from some generic legal stuff to conclude the report, that’s where the document ends. I’m not sure what to make of it. Definitely a lot to take in. I contacted the OP on the site I got this from but haven’t received a response yet, will update if I receive one. For now my only advice is be careful, and don’t go backpacking in Tahoe National Forest. If anyone has any thoughts or info, please, let me know.

Intro

This build revolves around Spirit Guardian and Nyrulna. A touch of SG or one thrown from Nyrulna inflicts 2-4 stacks of Reverberation and 2-4 stacks of Radiating Orb and 1-2 stacks of Dazed in an AOE. And you can do 3 throwns per turn!
Furthermore, with Hat of Storm Scion's Power you gain tons of Spell Save DC for free! Spirit Guardian is now guaranteed to deal full damage. But that's not all, with 6 EK + 6 War Cleric you can get some nasty CC spells with absurdly high success chances.
I started this build just wanting to play a spirit guardian + radiating orb combo, which was already damn strong by itself. But I felt like I had nothing to do in the following turns after I cast Spirit Guardian other than running around tagging people with SG or casting Sacred Flame/Guiding Bolt. Then I found out about the Boots of Stormy Clamour works with SG. The build evolved to incorporate some Reverberation gears while taking out some Radiating Orb gear. In the end, I was only left with Luminous Armour as it builds stacks decently by itself alone. Sadly, I noticed that Gloves of Belligerent Skies does not work with spirit guardian, so I was left to find other ways to inflict Thunder, Lightning, or Radiant damage. That led me to Nyrulna which proc AOE Thunder damage every time it is thrown.

Stat distribution & Feats

Start with Fighter for CON save proficiency and Shield proficiency.
Fighting style : Defence
17 STR, 14 DEX, 14 CON, 10 INT, 12 WIS, 8 CHA
At Fighter level 4 feat, take Tavern Brawler and go +1 STR.
At Fighter level 6 feat, take ASI and go +2 STR for 20 total STR.
At Cleric level 4 feat, take Alert. (We have rather low DEX and going first means inflicting tons of debuffs on enemies before they can act)

GeaItemization & Consumables

Weapon : Nyrulna; or Dwarven Thrower/Lightning Jabber in case of tight spaces.
Shield : Ketheric's_Shield for Spell Save DC. But you can use whatever really.
Helmet : Hat of Storm Scion's Power; or Helmet_of_Arcane_Acuity if you find yourself using Dwarven ThroweLightning Jabber a lot, this also works with range weapon.
Chest : Luminous Armour; Alternatively, you can dump DEX to use Heavy Armor and use Luminous Gloves to stack Radiating Orb instead.
Gloves : Gloves of Belligerent Skies to apply Reverberating even with a melee attack; As mentioned above, you can opt this out and use Luminous Gloves to stack more Radiating Orb.
Boots : Boots of Stormy Clamour; No alternative.
Amulet : Amulet of Misty Step for mobility; BIS is actually Amulet of Greater Health which let you dump CON for DEX/WIS. But you won't get this until much later into Act 3 so it's kinda redundant.
Ring 1 : Callous Glow Ring; No alternative. This thing lets us inflict Radiant Damage with anything. Nyrulna also double dip from it when thrown (Throw hit + Explosion). It even works with thunder damage from Reverberation 5 stacks trigger, even in Honour Mode. Radiant Damage means Radiating Orb everywhere!
Note : This thing only works if the target is in the light. Be sure to toggle Nyrulna light on, or cast Light on your weapon of choice.
Ring 2 : Ring of Spiteful Thunder to inflict Dazed; Alternatively, you can use Ring of Absolute Force for +1 damage (This also works with Reverberation 5 stacks trigger)
Note : Ring of Spiteful Thunder proc Dazed with just 1 hit of thrown Nyrulna. This is because the thrown damage applies 2 Radiant damage = 2 Reverberation, then the Nyrulna explosion deals Thunder damage proccing Dazed. And again, the Thunder damage from Reverberation 5 stacks trigger can also inflict Dazed.
Consumables : You can choose to use or not use this. Personally I think the game becomes too easy if you use them.
Elixir of Bloodlust is forever OP.
Elixir of Peerless Focus for CON saving throw advantage.
Elixir of Vigilance if you want other feats rather than Alert.

Spells & Cantrips

Eldritch Knight
Cantrips : Minor Illusion, the other 2 can be whatever.
Note : You have low INT so the attack cantrips have low hit chance.
Spells : Shield, Longstrider, Disguise Self, Tasha's Hideous Laughter
Note : When leveling up you won't be able to choose these spells on the get go. Just choose whatever and then use 'Replace Spell' on the following level up.
Domain of War Cleric
Cantrips : Guidance, Resistance, Thaumatogy, Light
Prepared Spells : Command, Create or Destroy Water, Healing Word, Sanctuary, Hold Person, Glyph of Warding. (Spirit Guardian is always prepared for Domain of War)
Note : Tasha's hideous Laughter and Glyph of Warding Sleep can bypass most Legendary Resistance in Honour Mode as sleep and prone are not incapacitated statuses. This makes short work of many bosses.

Gameplay

If you know there are enemies ahead, you can use Minor Illusion to lure them together before combat.
First round is usually throwing Nyrulna 3 times into Action Surge + Spirit Guardian then run at them, or cast a CC spell.
The following rounds just run around tagging everyone with Spirit Guardian. Create distance then throw Nyrulna. If there is someone you want to CC, use Command as it's not a concentration spell contradicting SG.

Level Progression

Early game you can start off with either Fighter or Cleric. I like Light Domain Cleric for their AOE nuke early game. From level 4 (Tavern Brawler) Eldritch Knight is really fun, as you can bound whatever weapon you find. But if you want early Spirit Guardian then go straight to Cleric 5

2024.05.15 20:56 PlummyDeath A Story: The Misfortunes of Lunabelle Tweed

I was so surprised by the chaos and drama of my current playthrough that I wanted to type it all out to share. Would love to hear your stories!
Background
Lunabelle Tweed is the youngest daughter of my original character and the young mayor Benjamin Whitfield. Her name is a portmanteau of Luna McBelle, the lighthouse worker who saved us, and Isabelle Whitfield, who tragically died in an early game spallpox epidemic. The name is very Renesmee coded, but I was running out of creativity and did not anticipate sharing this out.
Her parents, who were elderly by the time she was born, passed away soon after she reached adulthood and so Lunabelle lived alone with her older brother, Lucian. While Lucian succeeded his father as mayor, Lunabelle inherited the family farm. She grew up curious and shy, but with great love of the outdoors—a good little kid with every privilege at her fingertips, seemingly poised for a beautiful life.
Chapter 1: The Beginning
As a young woman, Lunabelle frequents the Sleeping Siren Inn in search of good company and elusive gold star meals. As the island prospered, the inn grew in popularity, requiring two innkeepers and an apprentice to keep up with demand. Lunabelle becomes dear friends with all three: Penelope Hull, Hollie Cooper (the apprentice), and most important of all, Jolene Hutton.
It was also at the inn that Lunabelle first meets Ruben, the third generation child of the Bayley family and the local fisher. They are the person of Lunabelle’s dreams—romantic, stubborn, and quick. Lunabelle is immediately enamored. She gifts them roses and homemade candies, dreaming of a future together.
Just before Lunabelle can propose—a shocking betrayal! Jolene and Ruben announce an impromptu engagement. Lunabelle is devastated. While she resents Ruben, nothing can compare to her fury towards Jolene. For the first time, Lunabelle notices Jolene's cruel, selfish nature.
Lunabelle begins an on-again, off-again romance with Penelope Hull, who deserved far better than to be a rebound. Penelope is perfect—kind, genius, and unflirty (a healthy change)—but Lunabelle struggles to forget Ruben. The two go on dates, and despite the ring in her inventory, Lunabelle never proposes. Making matters worse, every time she speaks with Ruben (and now, their young daughter Imogene), they complain about how poorly Jolene treats them.
Lunabelle harbors dark thoughts, considering giving Jolene a death cake and marrying Ruben herself—but resists. She’s no murderer. Instead, Lunabelle resolves to treat Penelope right. She purchases a final bouquet from Lavender Boutique and the most expensive ring she can from the blacksmith, ready to move on to the next stage of her life.
Chapter 2: The Epidemic
The next morning, Penelope is nowhere to be found. The town is eerily quiet. Those walking about look strange—grey skin, heavy eyes. The visiting sailors spread consumption through town.
Penelope dies first. Ruben follows. By the next weekend, almost every adult in town has perished. By some miracle, Lunabelle’s older brother Lucian and his husband Tom Hull (Penelope’s brother) survive, but it’s small consolation. Lunabelle wonders why Penelope and Ruben had to die, but Jolene lives on. The entirety of winter is back-to-back funerals.
Lunabelle is distraught with grief, but grateful to have her brother and his family. In solidarity with the townsfolk, she adopts Erma O’Dell, an orphan who lost her entire family—all grandparents, both parents, and older brother—during the outbreak. This new family, however, proves more difficult than anticipated. Erma develops a lazy, selfish personality, and the two frequently bicker.
Despite the trauma of losing both Penelope and Ruben, Lunabelle still hopes to find love and build a legacy. She goes on a date with now-grown Hollie Cooper, who apprenticed at the inn with Penelope and Jolene, and the two reminisce over fond memories of days gone by. However, the shared grief proves too much—Hollie rejects Lunabelle’s proposal. It’s for the best: they should look to the future, not linger on the past. The two part amicably.
Chapter 3: Jolene Is Enemy
With few surviving eligible options, Lunabelle goes on a date with Anna Hutton… sister to the cruel Jolene, her enemy. Despite bad blood, so much time and grief has come between them, and Lunabelle cares about Ruben’s daughter Imogene like her own. They could all become one big, happy family. But Jolene had other plans.
The date is disastrous. While Anna is nice enough, Jolene ambushes their date at the waterfall, sitting behind them and scribbling notes. Lunabelle is livid and storms off before the hour is up.
In an effort to repopulate, newcomers begin to move to town, arriving on ships each weekend. Lunabelle tries her luck, to no avail. The new hunter quickly marries the blacksmith; the new innkeeper marries the new doctor. Unlucky in love, Lunabelle resolves to break from dating and focus on her family.
Every day, Lunabelle visits her brother and his two children, gifting them homemade candy and toys when she can. Her nephew Jamie has grown into a fine young man and the spitting image of his grandfather, Benjamin Whitfield. Her niece Francis is a diligent, kind child, and even Erma has grow up well, succeeding the O’Dell family legacy as milliner. Despite their rocky start, Erma and Lunabelle find common ground. Lunabelle is, at last, proud of her daughter. Her only worry is Imogene, Ruben’s daughter with Jolene, who has grown up as cruel as her mother.
Chapter 4: Jolene Strikes Again
All seems peaceful—too peaceful. The next morning, Lunabelle finds a wedding invitation in her mailbox. It’s none other than Jolene...and Jamie. The wedding is in five days. Lunabelle knows what must be done.
As if by fate itself, the witch Astra Vosen sends Lunabelle a surprise gift: a death cake by mail. The day before the wedding, Lunabelle waits for the inn to open. Behind the counter is Jolene, wearing her same cruel smirk. Jolene, her former friend. Jolene, who stole Lunabelle’s lover and bullied her own child. Jolene, who sabotaged Lunabelle’s relationship with Anna. Jolene, who now targets Jamie. Lunabelle offers the cake as an engagement gift. The deed is done.
At Jolene’s funeral, only Jamie cries. Little did anyone know, because of the back-to-back funerals from the consumption epidemic, Jamie and Jolene already married in secret, and somehow had time to both have a child and for Jamie to become pregnant with another. Lunabelle was too late. Her only regret is not killing Jolene sooner.
With Jolene gone, Lunabelle finally marries Anna Hutton, and this time nobody ambushes their romance. It isn’t love, per se, but at least they aren’t lonely. Together, they have two children: Fortuna and Prospero, named with the hope they will meet better fates.
The Finale
Jolene’s memory haunts her. Lunabelle dwells in regret that she could not save Jamie from Jolene’s grip—a mistake she vows never to repeat. She wonders what her fate might have been had she murdered Jolene all those years ago.
Another invitation, this time the wedding of Imogene and Francis, Lunabelle’s niece. Excitement gives way to dread. Lunabelle once loved Imogene as a daughter, but Jolene’s influence has taken its toll. Imogene might resemble Ruben, but she inherited her mother’s cruelty. Lunabelle will do whatever it takes to protect Francis, even at the cost of her soul. She purchases another death cake.
This time, Lunabelle grapples with guilt and indecision. She still sees the little girl she loved as her own. She keeps the cake in her inventory and runs her errands, hoping to clear her head.
Then, the unthinkable happens—or perhaps, it was destiny all along. As evening progresses, Lunabelle grows peckish. In a moment of carelessness, she eats the poisoned cake herself.
That was the end of Lunabelle Tweed.
