2024.06.02 09:55 Slickbo1 I don't know how to put up with my parents

I graduated this year and been working for a while. We don't come from money majorly due to my father's reluctance to save up. My Mother has had a major role to put me through education. Now that I'm working, my father has already got a loan for a motorbike on my name and been asking me to finance a car. Which I've been refusing. Now he's asking me to take up the electricity bills of the house even though I'm paying water and internet bills already which doesn't even occur to him. Meanwhile I'm also saving up for my future education. All this while my father squanders the money he earns on things we don't need or even want like cartons of softdrinks, buiscuits for a fam of 4. You can guess from the fact that my mother has worked and put me through education that this has been a life changing effort from her for me and the fact that she has to make this effort hints at the trauma we all would've faced at hands on my father, so much so that we are quite notorius in relations for what we faced.
On one hand my mother discusses with me how absent he has been in our lives as the caretaker of the house and how much he has traumatised us. On the other hand, she says I'm the one who's hurting him and through him her by refusing to take all the expenses he's been trying to throw on me.
My question is what do I do? I don't know how to place this man in my life who has caused us so much pain, the man who is one of the most short tempered and incompetent man I've seen. Not an ounce of wisdom. The effects of the damage he's done on his kids is showing up now and all we can think is why us? What'd we do to get this?
My self-esteem is downtrodden and I don't know what to do I just don't want to be a bad guy but I don't want to make bad decisions either I guess what I am looking for is someone to tell me how do I behave with him in my daily life how much do I heed to what he says when I from deep below don't even see him at the pedestal of a father let alone give him the respect of a father??
All this time growing up you are certain that you won't turn out like your parents and work on yourself but now all of a sudden you don't know what the heck is happing

2024.06.02 08:52 bushwickaddict If this works, I can hopefully avoid forever debt.

I think if I do this correctly, I could avoid forever debt.
Hey! Just graduated college yay but that means it is time to repay my debt. I made a pretty bad financial decision and attended a private university in NYC, the school is good…the debt isn’t.
I am sitting at nearly 160,000+ in debt in Parent Plus loans & and about 27,000 in other federal loans in my name. I KNOW, please do not judge me, I UNDERSTAND that this is messed up & I made a bad decision…there is not much I can do now tho.
Unlike many of my friends & the Class of 2024 in general…I actually received a job offer upon graduation where i’ll be making about 67k starting with potential for overtime which is compensated well. My employer is PSLF eligible for my 27,000 in my name, but the bulk of my debt which is in ParentPlus is not unfortunately as my father works for a non PSLF employer. We’ve made the agreement that I will be responsible for the full debt payments (did not expect help)
I made the financial decision to move back in with my parents to aggressively pay off my debt while also being able to afford to enjoy a bit of life (travel, friends, entertainment) While at home, I pay zero rent, my car is paid off & my car is insurance costs only $84 a month. I have about 4K saved in a high yield account with a 5.5% APY and I have set 15% of my salary to disperse into that savings account.
My question is mainly this: If i begin aggressively paying off my debt, should I really just focus on my ParentPlus? My 27,000 in fed loans are PSLF eligible and I believe i’ll be able to enroll in the SAVE plan?
What in your opinion is an aggressive pay-off strategy?
Any tips or advice would be helpful. I lost many nights of sleep over this, but I think I am finally in a place where I have some peace in the fact that my Student Loans will be my ONLY real bill.
Any help would be great thanks!

2024.06.02 08:36 andmariemore Grad school for IO Psychology!

I just graduated with my bachelor’s in psychology and I plan to go for my masters in industrial-organizational psychology after taking a least a year off. Unfortunately my university doesn’t have any psychology masters program I want to enter. I decided to do an online program because I also have to work during the process.
I’m trying to pay for it without having to take on a huge loan and be in high debt. Plus I need to be able to afford rent & utilities and every other bills I have.
I was thinking of Colorado State University or Southern NH University. Do you have any experience with either school?
I know CSU has a great program but SNHU is cheaper. Like CSU is $770 per credit while SNHU is $637 per credit.
Is SNHU a good university that wouldn’t look bad in my resume when applying for jobs?

2024.06.02 07:54 Minimum_Reaction_724 36F, mortgage, no savings, no investments - am I screwed?

I’m 36F, full time job for 10 years. After tax I make 4,000 euro a month before bills/living costs. My boyfriend earns the same. We live together and have just bought a house together. No kids. Our mortgage is 30 years, bank loan is 10 years. We live in the city so it’s not cheap to live near our job.
We enjoyed the money for many years and all savings went on travelling and fun. I regret it but hey you can’t go back, so.. I’m starting over.
Now with the mortgage and bank loan and bills I am left with 2,000 euros for food and saving and lifestyle. My boyfriend is the same. After 10 years we will have an extra 500 euros each every month as the bank loan will be paid and the 30yr mortgage is the only one left.
I have zero savings as it went on the house deposit.
We also have been paying into pensions through our companies for the time we’ve been there.
I have no investments because I didn’t know how but looking into it now and considering 500-1000 euros a month investing.
Does this make sense? Have I screwed my life not saving and now getting this mortgage?

2024.06.02 07:33 ImpossibleKoala9271 Debt and Maternity leave- what to pay first?

Due to poor financial choices, and ongoing overspending for many years, I have debt of approximately 10k.
Between now and when I go on maternity leave later this year, I think I can save 3k in addition to the monthly payments I am currently making.
I’m wondering if it’s best to use this to clear my loan early, or pay on credit card debt.
Loan - mbna, £3200 left, repayment of 162 a month, 11% APR
Remaining 7k, credits card debt, split between 3 cards: Card 1: £422 - 24.3% interest rate (this is the card I use if needing to make unexpected purchases, but trying so hard not to use) Card 2: £5200 - 0% until April 2025 Card 3: £1300 -0% until Nov 2025
In my head I’m thinking, pay the highest rate interest card ASAP, then use the rest towards the loan and try and clear that before statutory maternity pay hit as that will be a big expense to manage on low wage. Then when 0% periods end, try to shift balance of Cc to another card.
I’m Also overpaying on credit cards each month to try and reduce debt sooner.
Bills during maternity leave will be covered by partners income, but money will be tight.
Thanks for any tips. It’s a long way off, but I’m hoping to be debt free in August 2026 and this sub gives me inspiration.

2024.06.02 07:06 KngTyrannosaurus ATO Calculator giving $10k tax bill? Not sure what to do (HECS + Novated Lease)

EDIT: Thanks all, its still not balancing (ATO showing ~3k bill, me showing ~$700 refund) but its a lot less out. I've updated the figures based on what you've told me.
First up, I do have HECS and an FBT exempt vehicle so this is complicated. Also the ATO calculator only has FY22/23 figures so far, but I'll be using FY23/24 therefore it'll be out a little bit (but hopefully not $10k+).
I am forecast to have earned ~120k EOFY (pre salary sacrifice) which includes 34k tax withheld and $18,500 in an FBT-exempt novated lease on an EV. TL;DR: When I calculate my tax bill I get $694.26, when the ATO Calculator does it I owe $3,404.37 - which is right?
My calculation:
From what I can gather, I effectively have two assessed incomes. My taxable income, which does not include the salary sacrifice ($120,000 - $18,500 = $101,500), and my Repayment Income (for HECS/Medicare) which involves a correction factor for tax equivalence.
From the ATO, my Reportable Fringe Benefits Amount is 'Grossed up', this benefit has GST (its a car) so the rate is 2.0802. Therefore my RFBA is $18.5k * 2.0802 = $38,483.70. This is then added to my taxable income, so my Repayment Income is $101,500 + $38,483.70 = $139,983.70.
EDIT: Calculation error, the ATO have a guide on reportable fringe benefit income. In reality my reportable FBT will be twenty percent of the cars value via the statutory method. So $82,000 * 20% = $16,500, thats then Grossed up in the guide at a rate of 1.8868 which means its $16,500 * 1.8868 = $30,943.52. Therefore my Repayment Income is actually $105,000 + $30,943.52 = $132.443,52.
So as I understand it, I therefore have two income figures for tax calculations:
I'll split what I owe into the categories that use each.
In Taxable Income ($101,500) I will owe $20,392.50
In Repayment Income ($132,443.52) I will owe $12,913.24
The sum of my what I owe for Taxable ($20,392.50) and Repayment ($12,913.24) incomes is $33,305.74. Therefore my tax bill will be Owings ($33,305.74) - Tax Withheld ($34,000) which is -$694.26.
ATO Calculation:
Putting this same information into the ATO calculator with the following settings yields a tax bill of $3,404.37
Can anyone help? I'll see an accountant of course but I must be doing something wrong.

2024.06.02 06:10 Motor_Surprise103 How much I can afford with $115k annual salary in SoCal?

Hi everyone. I am 30M, single, live in SoCal. I earn $115k gross annually and also receive equity compensation each quarter (with equity compensation and at current price of the stock, my annual total earnings is ~$133-135k). My ultimate goal is to purchase a home in Orange County, but right now, I was considering if I should get 1Bedroom condo, which I can sell or rent out in the future.
I have few questions:
Even though you started mortgage and would want to sell it before repaying everything, can you do it?
How increase in condo value (if it will increase) will affect the sale of the unit, if I decide to change it?
Would you buy something smaller, before you have enough funds to purchase something bigger?
FYI, I currently pay $1100 monthly for a room in a shared apartment. My expenses are around $3500 a month in total (loan, student debt, bill, food, etc.)

2024.06.02 05:43 slootplayground Two Individuals and Money-Transfer Company Indicted

Silver International Investment and two individuals face charges of laundering dirty money through British Columbia (B.C.) casinos, and more precisely through River Rock Casino in Richmond. After a year-old casino report flagged money-laundering concerns, the newly-elected British Columbia government has hired an independent investigator to check the case. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), organized criminals used Silver International Investment as an illicit banking network to loan suspected drug cash to high-rollers from Macau. In that way, the criminals could skirt China’s strict anti-money laundering system and wash their dirty cash through B.C. casinos.

RCMP allege that they revealed a sophisticated money-laundering scheme, which was used to launder drug cash through B.C. casinos. RCMP’s Project E-Pirate probe reportedly found out that more than $500 million dirty money was laundered through Richmond’s River Rock Casino. The amount was split into portions of $1.5 million per day, paid mostly with $20 bills. As it can be recalled, some time ago the police have warned that $20 bills are among the most used bills by drug dealers. But the River Rock staff was prone to accept the unsourced cash and the gamblers were able to cash out with bills of $100, which are considered suitable for banking.

Caught Red-Handed
Various documents and reports, obtained by Postmedia through freedom of information requests, revealed that the criminals were using Silver International Investment as an illegal banking network to transfer money to send money to and fro. According to the RCMP’s report, criminals were lending drug cash to VIP gamblers from China through Silver International Investment. The VIP gamblers could pay back their loans in China through the illicit banking channel.

In that way, the criminals could avoid China’s capital control for exporting and importing funds, as well as to circumvent the attention of Canada’s financial watchdog. Here it is interesting to note that in a police special operation in 2015, more than $2 million in mostly $20 bills and account books were confiscated from Silver International’s office in Richmond. RCMP Insp. Bruce Ward announced that the information in Silver International’s account books point out that the company washed more than $220 million in cash through B.C. casinos in a year.

Caixuan Qin and Jian Jun Zhu will also face multiple fraud charges after police allege that Qin is the director of Silver International, which address is registered in an apartment in Richmond. The report alleges that Qin is not the owner of the apartment, but he owns a property in south Vancouver, estimated to worth $2.5 million. The two individuals together with Silver International Investment are charged with crimes including money laundering of drug cash, possession of a property, involved in a crime and others.

2024.06.02 05:36 imperialpark Is it a good idea to stay as roommates after divorce?

We have been trying to work through an amicable arrangement where neither of us is screwed over. We have no kids, a few pets, one vehicle, and of course a mortgage together. Is it possible to get a divorce and stay on as roommates? The bills would be split and we would get that notarized and make it legal. Thing is we get along better as friends than we have as a married couple. Looking for opinions and comments that can shed light on this complex situation. One is active duty the other is a disabled veteran.
Only one of us has income, there is a chunk of change in savings and our interest rate is fairly low compared to what the market is currently offering. Assuming the loan for the home is not ideal and neither is refinancing. We have no ill will towards each other but no one wants to feel left out.
One person initiated the process the other was caught off guard. But in the end we both saw it coming years ago. Anyway looking for some input or suggestions. There is a bit more to unpack but that’s the gist of it. A mortgage, a car loan, two people who have never been married/divorced before and ten years down the drain.

2024.06.02 05:36 Tight-Definition8841 AITA for moving out on my roommates before the lease is up

I, 30F, moved into a trailer in my home town with two guys whom i thought were friends 35M, and 27M. For simplicity 27M will be Bum, and 35M will be Fool. The three of us agreed to move in and split the bills 3 ways. Shortly after moving in, Bum quit his job and refused to get another one. Instead, he sat at the house, playing video games all night and generating a mess. I had spoken to Fool many time about this and it seemed like he was on my side. After living with Bum for a while, I noticed a drastic change in my dog's, 6M large breed, behavior. He would run from Bum as if he were about to be beaten. To the point he would slip and fall on the wood laminate floor. He was also confined to my bedroom at all times as was my cat. I confronted Bum about it when I noticed a hole in my bathroom wall that hadn't been there when I left for work. He fed me some cock and bull story about how my dog must have launched my full conditioner bottle that had been sitting in my shower caddy at the wall. Throughout the entire 8 months of living with these two I have paid half of the rent and all of the utilities. I have had to take out payday loans every 2 weeks to make the basic household ends meet while my own personal bills have gone on the back burner. Eventually, Bum ended up getting a baby sitting job. Thinking that the struggle was finally over and we could finally split the bills, I did the math for the rent and posted it in our group chat. In layman's terms, he said no that his bills had to come first and that the rent was staying the way it was. This pissed me off and I finally decided enough was enough and spoke to a different friend about getting into a new place. Everything came to a head this passed Monday. In short, Bum said he hadn't slept in 34 hours, was sick, and went to "work". He was angry that I hadn't cleaned up the giant mess that he had made or did the dishes while on the phone with people who I had thought were friends. He kept comparing me to his ex and said how living with me as a roommate made him want to "unalive himself". I called my mom and asked her to come and get me after he had gone into his room. I sent Fool a message telling him that Bum could stay and that I would leave since I am the problem. He called us both soon after in a group call and demanded to know what was going on. Bum gave his side first and then interrupted as I tried to give mine. He said again that living with me made him want to unalive himself. He knows that Suic*de is a trigger of mine and he uses it often. I yelled at him not to say that and he began to scream at me. I ju g ip from the call and began speed packing essentials while calling my mom. She and a friend helped get my essentials and pets out and back to my moms place. Today, I went back over and finished packing my things, only to discover that my vr headset and controllers are missing. Last I had seen them they had been in the entertainment center that is now empty. I confronted Bum about it and he denied having them. I went through all of my stuff 5 times and couldn't find them. I told him he had 15 minutes to produce my vr setup ir I'd call the cops. He began to yell at me again. My mother stepped in and told me to just call, so I did and made a report. He tried to kick my mother out of "his" house but she refused stating that it wasn't his house but mine. He went and hid in his room after that. About an hour after the ordeal, I recieved messages from Fool. He stated that since I willingly broke the lease that I had until june 9th to pack up my things and get out, otherwise theyd throw everything out and take me to court for damages to the room. I told him that my things were already out and that I was going back tomorrow to clean the room and repair the damages. He stated that I couldn't go into the house without one of them there. I know for a fact that they haven't spoken with the office yet about taking me off the lease so I know I still have a right to go inside and that by law that they have to give me 30 days since I recieve mail at the address. I intend on going anyway and cleaning the room and removing the last of my things and the trash and giving the key back to the manager in the office. I have stopped respoding to Fool's messages and I have blocked Bum on all platforms. I simply cannot take the mental, financial, and amimal abuse any longer. Please tell me, AITAH here?

2024.06.02 05:21 dandirtjefferson Should I worry about sinking funds if I’m still on BS2?

I have about $34k I’m working on paying down (CCs, student loans, personal loan) and after paying all my bills and budgeting for gas and groceries I have just over $600 left. I wanted to start sinking funds for the holidays, birthdays and car maintenance, but I’m estimating roughly $400 that would go towards those sinking funds.
I feel guilty putting that much away knowing it could help make a decent progress towards paying down debt, but the holidays are going to come regardless and I always seem to be ill prepared for the costs around that time of year. Does it make more sense to put it all towards debt or do the sinking funds?

How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. Teachers and other child educators can benefit from regular professional development, but in-person training can be expensive. New research found that virtual training can be a budget-friendly alternative—and especially effective for certain groups of educators. The study—a collaboration between researchers at Penn State and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and published in the International Journal of Professional Development, Learners and Learning—found that educators who took a virtual training reported feeling more confident in their abilities to implement practices shown to support positive youth development. In particular, after-school providers who did not

HUMBLE LEADERS BOOST EMPLOYEES’ WORKPLACE STATUS AND LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL, FINDS STUDY

There are many different types of workplace leaders, from those who prioritize the needs of team members and the organization above their own, to authentic leaders who foster openness, trust and transparency. A recent study by the University of South Australia published in the Journal of Organizational Behavior has highlighted the significant benefits of humble leadership in the workplace. According to the study by UniSA’s Dr. Xiao Lin, humble leadership can effectively elevate the workplace status of employees by boosting their sense of respect and prominence. It also leads to

WHY ARE GROCERY BILLS SO HIGH? A NEW STUDY LOOKS AT THE SCIENCE BEHIND FOOD PRICE REPORTING

Rising food costs are squeezing Canadians around the country. Nearly everyone is feeling the pinch, and it’s not just an inconvenience—high food prices are a major threat to food security for many Canadians. Understanding why food prices are so high and why they are changing is critical to the well-being of our society. Unfortunately, consensus on why food price are so high is in short supply. Explanations given in reports like Canada’s Food Price Report and the news media range widely, from the war in Ukraine to supply chain issues

WILL GENERATIVE AI CHANGE THE WAY UNIVERSITIES COMMUNICATE?

Is artificial intelligence an unprecedented opportunity, or will it rob everyone of jobs and creativity? As we debate on social media (and perhaps use ChatGPT almost daily), generative AIs have also entered the arena of university communication. These tools—based on large language models that were optimized for interactive communication—can indeed support, expand, and innovate university communication offerings. Justus Henke has analyzed the situation of German realities about six months after the launch of ChatGPT 3. “The research was conducted about a year ago when enthusiasm was high, but it was

RUDE AT WORK? FEELING GUILTY CAN MAKE YOU A BETTER, KINDER WORKER

We’ve all done it. A bad night’s sleep or a tough commute made us cranky, and we lashed out at a coworker who did nothing wrong. What can we do to make up for it? According to a new study published in the Journal of Business Ethics, embracing our guilty feelings can help us make up for our bad behavior by encouraging us to act more politely and work harder the next day. “We found that anyone can be rude at work, because anyone can

RESEARCHERS INTRODUCE A PLANETARY INCLUSION SCALE TO FOSTER BROADER ETHICAL THINKING

Social inclusion and having a sense of belonging with other people are key elements of a good life. However, the fate of humanity is a challenge that extends beyond our social reality. Experiences of belonging and inclusion, understood in a broader sense than before, may be crucial for a sustainable future. In an article published in the International Journal of Social Pedagogy, a team of researchers propose a new planetary inclusion scale that structures our planetary relationship three-dimensionally based on temporal, spatial and ethical orientation. The temporal element relates to

‘LEAN IN’ MESSAGES CAN LOWER WOMEN’S MOTIVATION TO PROTEST GENDER INEQUALITY

Women in leadership are often told to “Lean In,” designed to be motivational messaging demonstrating that they are more confident, strategic and resilient to setback. However, new research indicates that such “lean in” messaging can hinder women’s motivation to protest gender equality. Popularized in a book by American technology executive Sherly Sandberg, the “Lean In” solution to gender inequality advises women that demonstrating personal resilience and perseverance in the face of setbacks is key to career advancement. ALGORITHMS COULD HELP IMPROVE JUDICIAL DECISIONS

A new paper in the Quarterly Journal of Economics finds that replacing certain judicial decision-making functions with algorithms could improve outcomes for defendants by eliminating some of the systemic biases of judges. Decision makers make consequential choices based on predictions of unknown outcomes. Judges, in particular, make decisions about whether to grant bail to defendants or how to sentence those convicted. Companies now use machine learning based models increasingly in high-stakes decisions. There are various assumptions about human behavior underlying the deployment of such learning models that play out in

In fact, every general election campaign since 1997 has at some point been lauded as the first to make effective use of digital campaigning. May is Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month, a time when Americans celebrate the profound contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders—a group that is commonly abbreviated as AAPI—to U.S. society. 2024.06.02 05:11 hstephens1 Eye opening looking into what I am up against when it comes to my finances...

Tltr: I finally kept track of all my monthly expenses/debt and built a game plan. Starting to feel a little bit better about my situation despite just really getting started into the grind.
I've been lurking this thread, and others, for tips and tricks on how to tackle debts for the last few months but officially took the first step in tracking all of my expenses in the month of May. When I say expenses I mean: all of my monthly bills, grocery costs, gas costs, quick grab and go lunches at work because of poor planning, the 'one coffee won't kill me' purchases, and other miscellaneous things... Now it wasn't AS BAD as I thought it could have been, but I certainty was not pleased with myself. It was painfully easy where I was going wrong with my spending habits and how 'one coffee' turns into not just 'one coffee.' And how those quick grab and go lunches added up, and freaking fast too. It was minorly encouraging to see where I was going 'right' too. With my lurking I've seen some people have some wild spending, but nothing I bought this month went on a credit card and I will consider that a bonus.
The second part to my action plan was writing down all of my debt. That includes my car, a personal line of credit, one credit card, and my student loans (six loans in total). I took note of all of their interest rates and minimum payments and probably about went crazy on deciding on if I wanted to use the snowball or avalanche method to concur my debt. I think I'm still on track with the snowball method. After a month of actually paying attention to these things I feel a really weird sense of accomplishment, frustration with myself, but also kind of hopeful because I think I have a game plan. I made myself a budgeting spreadsheet to force myself into looking at it. I can see where I'm making a dent and where I'm making stupid spending decisions.
Overall, my debt situation isn't as awful as I think it could be given somethings I've had to get creative with in life. My credit card debt is due to leaving a job that paid for my cell phone, I frankly forgot that was a perk from that job and had to buy a new phone + a service plan very last minute. My student loans all came from y freshman year of college before I understand the grant and scholarship game. I graduated with the rest of my years paid for. It sucks I have these, but again it could be a lot worse. My truck is my truck, I've had three years and have been chipping a way at it from about 16k to this. The personal line of credit (PLOC) is split with my wife each month. We use this for emergencies and just got hit hard this year with car trouble, an electrical problem (we own our home), and one of our dogs was attacked and needed vet care.
KCU Credit Card12.90%-$1,739.99 Student Loan - 14.66%-$2,314.90 Student Loan - 24.66%-$1,567.86 Student Loan - 34.29%-$2,980.14 Student Loan - 44.29%-$1,493.95 Student Loan - 53.76%-$3,647.94 Student Loan - 63.76%-$1,425.00 WSECU Truck4.69%-$5,562.02 WSECU PLOC9.23%-$14,833.23
The part I'm struggling with the most I think is being okay with the fact that this is going to take me TIME to get out of. I don't have any rich relatives that are going to kick the bucket, I don't play the lottery and unless some kind stranger wants to make my day I just need to chip at it one penny at a time. I've appreciated reading peoples stories and takes on their situations and wanted to add my part I guess. I also want to look back at this on July first and see if I still feel as optimistic, lol.

2024.06.02 05:09 Key-Yogurtcloset9661 24F at my breaking point….

I’m a 24 year old female. So a car fell off a tow truck in February , Guess who was driving behind the tow truck? You guessed it! Me. The average person may say Oh! Big money right? Wrong. The truck that fell off the tow truck had no insurance, the tow truck driver was involved in an insurance scheme. Not a legit towing company. Somebody paid him to come “steal” their car, take it to the location and sell it for parts. He didn’t strap it on correctly and it rolled off. Luckily, I had bodily injury coverage and collision. When the police get on the scene they reassure me everything and all the correct information would be on the police report, surprise ! they completely fuck up the report. They had to write 3 different police reports because they fucked it up that bad. My attorney told me he has never seen 3 seperate amended police reports on a non catastrophe case in his career. The body cam footage was redacted, body camera was turned on and off. Some have told me to sue the police department as well, but idk.
Next, I lost my job! I had no way to and from work and I lost all of my income. I used all my saving paying past due bills. I’ve been applying for jobs from nearby businesses, i’m still following up. I haven’t heard anything back yet. I went to Fedex, but after a week my body couldn’t take it anymore. I had 14 bruises on my arms and legs, busted bleeding finger and toe nails from heavy boxes falling on me. Limping when I left every shift. I cried in the trailer I was working in, literally just thinking about how I went from having a car, a happy job to having nothing and destroying my body at a job grown men walk out on. All because I was at the wrong place and wrong time. They got away fine but i’m suffering.. Why is that fair? i’m still waiting on a settlement from my insurance company, but other than that I feel like I have no hope. I’m past due on personal loans. I told them my situation but they don’t care. buisness is buisness.
Next, I lost my friend of 15 years. Yep since 2009. I asked him for a ride for the first time ever after I lost my car and he laughed in my face for 5 minutes straight.. I asked him to drive me 20 minutes away and he laughed in my face telling me he can’t believe I asked him that.. Every other time we hung out I was the one driving, I never minded because I could never treat people I love the way that others have treated me.. then he turned around and did me exactly like that. I truly couldn’t believe it. I cut him off, we haven’t spoken since. He’s been apologizing out his ass but I really don’t care. I cried when I got in the house.
I honestly just want to give up. I’m so tired. I don’t understand any of this. I cry. I talk to God every day, I pray, but I still don’t understand this. Sometimes I think he’s ignoring me. Sometimes I think he just flat out hates me. I went from weighing 190 in November to 163 now in June, people think it’s because i’ve been exercising and eating healthy, asking me for tips and tricks but really I have no appetite from everything i’m dealing with I do follow a routine, to help my days go by. I clean, go on walks, do my laundry, shower, etc. Spend time with my cat lol. Everyone keeps asking me how i’m doing and wondering how I haven’t fell apart yet but I just smile and tell them i’m fine because I don‘t want them worrying about me. Everyday I try to convince myself to stay another, but i’d be lying if i said that wasn’t hard at this season of my life.
Any motivational words? Has anybody else went through this? If so, how did you overcome it? Suggestions? If you follow God, could you please pray for me?

He’s been apologizing but I really don’t care.

2024.06.02 05:03 nightsky_cxiv I made a first time principal payment for my car loan yesterday, despite the electronic bill statement saying it was processed successfully, I'm not seeing the transaction pending in my checking account at all yet. Is this normal?

Just want to make sure, because I know for a fact that I submitted my bank account's routing/account number correctly beforehand. Despite my TFS bill statement saying my principal payment was paid, I'm not seeing it as pending transaction in my checking account at all yet.
Is this normal, or do should I call my bank?

2024.06.02 04:46 Material_Yoghurt_190 Help!

Unsure of what to do
So my loans were with MOHELA. I went on the website 5/12 and took a screenshot saying my recertification date was in 2025.
My loans are moving to a new servicer. I cannot see anything about my loans on MOHELA. New servicer doesn’t have my info yet.
On studentaid.gov it shows I need to recertify by 8/2024. I start a chat and show them the screenshot. They said they don’t know why it says 2025 on MOHELA’s website but it’s not that in their system although I should “go with what they say but I could have a new recertification date when my loans fully transfer”
Do I recertify now? Im worried if I don’t, the new servicer will say I needed to do it by 8/2024 and I’ll be screwed with a big bill.
Send help.

2024.06.02 04:14 S0orYa Debt Trap.

Me(19M) and my roommate(19M) have been to his village for the vacations and on yesterday's evening while we're chilling,3-4 debt collectors came and made a mess around. Till that time,he also has no idea what's going around as the family finances are managed by his single mother.
So my friend(20M) are a family of 3(Lil brother and single mother). His mother is a government Teacher and earning around 38k PM(sole breadwinner). He lost his father to cancer in 2019.They had some debts due to the hospital bills for around 4-5 lakhs from relatives without any intrest. Later in 2021,Aunty decided to build a home as their house(80 YO) needed a lot of maintenance, she never wanted to reconstruct that and thought of building a new home. She had no savings at that time as they paid the debt from relatives and also a chunk goes towards children's education.
At that time she had no knowledge about loans and finances.so she directly headed to the bank, asked for a loan but rather than giving her a home loan bank gave her a personal loan of 7lakhs. As the raw material price inflated to sky after covid, money ran out.and she headed to a NBFC taking another 5lakhs of PL. Finally they made a 3BHK and moved in. But she failed to manage the finances properly and took loans from local money lenders at 5% intrest per month. Currently the debt is around 18 lakhs and she is paying around 42k monthly including all the emis and intrest to lenders.she has to manage her home and watch before her children's education.so the debt is increasing month after month.
My friend was unaware of these till yesterday and is feeling devastated. They don't have any generational wealth. I suggested them to sell the house and pay off the debts. Aunty has 17years of service left and after 3-4years both of the children are likely to earn. They can start fresh.
Any advice will be helpful. Thank you in advance.
