2024.05.19 00:15 CreativeLiberties 2.0 or 2.7 swap into 1.5 ecoboost

yes, I know it's impractical, and in 99% of cases I would be better off buying the 2.0 or 2.7 sport version since engine swapping modern cars is a bitch to do, but I bought this car with the intent of having it as a nice car for a few months to a year, then making it a project, and there's not exactly a whole lot you can do to the 1.5 ecoboost without it exploding due to the thinner cylinder walls and it being a small engine, and I know the ford fusion is already designed to also work with the 2.0 and 2.7. So I intend to source a 2.0 ecoboost or a 2.7 ecoboost (hopefully the 2.7 but I know that would be a lot more work going from an inline 4 to a V6, and any other parts that I would need to make it work, and doing it. I don't want a step by step guide on how to do this, because I have done my fair share of engine swaps before, but I want to know, if possible, all of the parts I would need to swap out to make the engine go in as clean as possible, I know I would need a new transmission, because the bolt patterns are different, likely a new ECU or at the very least a completely different tune for it, new engine mounts (I already know where to get those), probably a new wiring harness if I go with the 2.7 V6, is there anything else I would need? I love this car, so it's done the first part of its job quite well, and I want to make sure that whenever I decide to do this swap, I don't unintentionally make it unusable.

Sorry for the long post, TL;DR: I know it's impractical, but what specific things would I need to do an engine swap.

2024.05.17 20:43 swtogirl [New Updates] The Epic Saga of 2 Brothers and a Truck

I am not the OP. That is u/No_Chrysler-4-Me. Originally posted on EntitledPeople and pettyrevenge.

There are two previous BORUs I posted last year:
First Post Jan 8, 2023
Second Post Jan 8, 2023

Trigger Warning: Domestic Violence

Editor's Note: THIS IS VERY LONG! OP posts a lot about his family. I will include links to other posts at the bottom of this BORU, but I will keep this post focused on the brother and OP.

TL;DR of the above BORUs: OP's older brother is lazy and a cheapskate. OP bought a truck, an '03 Toyota Tundra. Brother gets jealous and buys a 01 Dodge Ram 1500, but it's crap. OP tries to help brother fix up the truck despite warning him not to buy it. Once it was running a little better, brother challenges OP to a race. Brother loses and becomes obsessed with practicing racing, ruining the truck further. Eventually they go camping, have more shenanigans, brother finally blows the transmission. Brother has to drive his ex-girlfriend's minivan, which he hates, tries to LS Swap the Ram, but no one will lend him the money. He eventually sells it. Brother doesn't stop there. He NEEDS a truck, so he has the brilliant idea of chopping the minivan up to make it into a truck. He needs money to Frankenstein the minivan, no one will pay, but eventually he cuts it up, uses recycled wood to make the truck bed, etc. He calls it the "Mini-Ram."

My brother sold the Mini-Ram and got a Silverado. That was fine. It's what happened after that made things worse May 5, 2024

I've been gone for some time. But I'm back with a bad one. I've spoken before about how my older brother competed with me needlessly. And he did a lot of beyond stupid shit. Well he finally pushed the whole family over the edge, and got disowned. And I'm going to be explaining a lot of what happened the past year, and then some from before that. But it's too long for one post.
Well going back more than a year. Some may remember my brother getting a free minivan from his ex after the Dodge Ram truck I warned him not to buy became a moneypit. I helped him work on that truck and even repaint it. And I helped him remodel his camper trailer too. Why? Because he's my brother. And I guess some part of me deep down kept hoping he'd one day change. But he tried to take credit for things I did. Especially with remodeling the camper. And he had tantrums when called out on his lies. He also became temporarily obsessed with my truck, and even implied he'd just take it from me because he hated driving a minivan. He referred to it as a chick car. He acted like a complete child because I refused to trade vehicles, and even got our parents involved. It was just a really stupid and needless situation that my brother tried to make a hill to die on.
It started when my brother bought his Dodge Ram simply because I bought a Toyota Tundra. He had a perfectly running Subaru Baja before that. Then he said he wanted a man's truck and bought the worst barely running pile he could find that was also overpriced considering the condition. He could have at least aimed for a diesel since he wanted a dodge so bad. Lots of dumb shit happened after that. Including my brother wanting to LS swap the Ram after destroying it's engine and two transmissions. But I'm pretty sure the person who offered to do the LS swap for him was a scammer. Not to mention LS swapping any vehicle basically means replacing the ECU. But it never happened anyway since the engine and transmission my brother wanted sold before he could get them. And he had no running vehicle anymore. So my brother's ex, whom he has a young child with, gave him her old 90s Ford Windstar van. It was admittedly an ugly, dent riddled POS with the rear window busted out. But it still ran and drove surprisingly well, considering that's not one of Ford's better vehicles. And then my brother decided to cut it up into some sort of van/truck. Or a ute as they're called in some places. But he made this thing ugly. Lots of spray foam, recycled wood, and rattle can paint. Even mismatched sub-lights above the cab. He frequently raided the junkyard for parts. And he even glued a Ram badge onto the grill of that van/truck. He called it the Mini-Ram. Lots of stupid cheap mods done to that vehicle too. Someone once asked me how ugly the Mini-Ram was on a scale of 1 to 1000. And I said about a 667.
My brother did a lot of other dumb things in this time. Like following me camping just to piss me off. He was a general leech who stole power from my generator, and tried to steal beer from my camper fridge repeatedly. He was so brazen as to just walk right in, and then tried to pretend to be so drunk he didn't realize what he was doing when caught. I've spoken many times about how he stole booze from me. Until my friends and I revenge pranked him and his near equally douchey friends with a growler full of laxative tainted beer. We admittedly used way too much laxative. But my brother never stole from me again because I threatened to tell everyone about his humiliation. He crapped on his own shoes squatting in the woods. And that's just a bit of it.
Eventually my brother seemed to learn his lesson. He sold the Mini-Ram to someone who actually paid him well for it. And no, I don't know what they did with it. And I don't care. But, when the 2K he sold the Mini-Ram for was combined with his savings, my brother had a bit over 4.5K to buy a better vehicle with. And he spotted a 99 RWD Silverado truck with an extended cab for sale online. He really shouldn't have sold his only method of transportation before having a replacement vehicle ready. But I couldn't fault him for taking the deal when presented, considering what he sold. And as much as my brother annoyed me, I still cared about him enough to help. He showed up begging me to drive him over 60 miles to look at this truck he found on Market Place.
So I reluctantly drove him out to see this truck. It wasn't that bad actually. Save for the rough mismatched paint, the rusty hood, the dents, the cracked windshield, and.... Actually, I guess it was kinda that bad. But not compared to the clapped out Ram my brother bought previously. The Silverado had a manual transmission, which we both confirmed shifted great as the records showed it had been rebuilt a few years before. The engine had been swapped at one time too. So it was kinda hard to gauge the odometer as it had not been rolled back for the new engine. It was at about 350.000 miles, but those numbers don't really mean jack when the engine and tranny have been replaced or rebuilt. Admittedly the engine ran like a top. The tires on the truck were in pretty damn good shape too. And on steel rims. Which I like. Very practical. I asked my brother if this was the manly kind of truck he'd been looking for. And for once he spoke logically and said that he'd rather have this than risk what happened with the Ram again. Fair enough. Besides, Chevy trucks are cool and reliable. I've always liked them. Like a rock as they say.
My brother and I scrutinized this truck in detail like a pair of pawn brokers, and talked the price down to 3K. They wanted 4K. But we could hear a sound while test driving it that was either bad ball joints or wheel bearings. We jacked up the wheels, and the bearings felt and sounded fine. But the ball joints were pretty bad. And that's not a cheap fix unless you can do it yourself. The truck was owned by the seller's father, who'd passed away a year prior. So the guy took 3K for it after we listed the problems. After driving it back, I insisted my brother get the truck to a mechanic ASAP. And he listened that time. The mechanic said the ball joints were about to come apart, and it's have caused a very bad situation if they had. And it cost him a grand to get them replaced. The truck also needed new plates ant the title registered. Which ate up a lot of the remaining budget. Then came the paint. My brother wanted the Silverado painted black right away. I told him to wait. But he didn't listen and DIY'd some body work, and then rattle-canned it with Rustolium turbo cans. The paint was full of orange peel, and overspray. He didn't even use primer. And the truck looked kinda mediocre. Then the southern weather had at it. Already numerous chips, scrapes and fades. Whatever. I stopped caring.
You'd think that'd be the end of this part. But no. There's more. What's behind door number 3? If you guessed a dumbass with a knife stuck in his ass. Then you'd win the gold! Yeah that's right. My brother got a knife in his ass.... How? How else... He and his friends all got high and decided they were gonna go outside and build a fort in the back yard of the house they rent out of scrap they found laying around. My brother while stoned wanted to show off how he can flip out a butterfly knife really fast, and decided he was gonna act like he was in an action movie, and did some sort of stupid thing where he was running and flipping out the knife really fast. The ground was wet, he slipped, and somehow got the knife in his right butt-cheek. They called me to come take him to the hospital because they were all too stoned to drive. I had to lay my brother down in the bed of my truck on a mattress because we were too scared to pull the knife out, and I drove him to the hospital like that. They rushed him in, and thankfully he only needed about 5 stiches on his butt and some antibiotics. Then I drove him back home the same way, and he insisted I take him to a drive through. He also tried to get me to pay, because...reasons! I told him to buy his own damn food.
After that there was more dumb BS that I won't bother getting into. But eventually my brother was seemingly getting bett...er...less bad. He was a bit sore his Silverado wasn't a 4X4, and my Tundra is. But being RWD kept him from trying to take it off-roading. He did try once, and had to pull the truck out of mud with a come-along. And he didn't try it again. He did want to drag race my truck again too. I said hell no. Not gonna risk either of our piles breaking down. And he was a complete douche about that too. I told him to stop acting like his dick was bigger than it is, and act his age. He didn't take that well. But he seemingly really was improving. Even being a much better dad to his daughter. Things got pretty good for him. Until I decided to buy a house. That's when the serious drama started.

My entitled brother threw a massive fit, just because he was mad I bought a house May 6, 2024

Yeah, I'm aware of several similar stories involving entitled family members wanting houses they have no claim to. But I guess this shit really happens. And it's no picnic when it does.
I suddenly became a homeowner some time ago because friend of mine's grandfather was moving to Florida. And his house was ripe for picking. I knew the old man well. RIP, he passed a few months later from a sudden stroke. Anyway, he offered the house and property to me for 200K. I practically ran to the bank to apply for the loan. The house is a manufactured home from the 80s. But it was remodeled repeatedly by the former owner, and has a separate garage building. The home and property could have gone for more. But he offered the house to me because he knew I'd take care of it. I had 30K saved that made a good down payment. And I was happy to leave my apartment. I'd wanted to eventually move out of there after what my cheating ex did anyway. But that's a story for another time.
As for my brother. Well he went bonkers when he found out I bought a house. He had this repeated history of copycatting me for the past decade. But this... There was no way in hell he could copycat buying a house with his terrible credit and inconsistent income. And he got in an argument with me over how I was just trying to make him look bad by doing something he couldn't. No, I just wanted a damn house. And the price was too good to refuse. Then he told me I should have turned it down because...(He had no good reason) I could practically see his screws getting looser with every dumbass excuse he made as to why I shouldn't have done it. But I pointed out all those excuses were just because I did something he currently can't. And when I bought the house, it had nothing to do with him. I just wanted to be a home owner for the security and extra space. I finally don't have to store my camper at my parents' house. And I have a garage that I can store stuff and tinker in.
I bought a camping cot, he bought a camping cot, went to the gym, he went to the gym, bought good booze, he bought good booze (Or stole it from me), I bought a new TV, be bought a new TV, I bought a truck, he bought a truck, I bought a camper, he bought a camper, I bought a used portable DVD player, he bought a used portable DVD player, I went camping in a specific place, he went camping in that specific place, I bought a house, he...(404 Error! Insert tea kettle noises and Benny Hill chase). He also acted like a complete child toward me when he built his Mini-Ram thing. He actually confronted me and said it was keweler than my boring Tundra, because it was something original. I swear, he did the dumbest mods to that vehicle. Like putting twist studs in the suspension coils to raise the ride height.
Well after weeks of openly fuming about me being a home owner, my brother suddenly acted like he had another brilliant idea. He wanted to move in with me. I laughed at him. Then he ended up demanding I rent one of my rooms to him. And for only $200 a month (Utilities included) because he shouldn't have to pay any more than that since we're family. He flipped his lid when I said fuck no! Then he got our parents involved again. Only this time they actually sided with him at first. Though it was mainly our mother. She and my brother showed up demanding I let my brother move in. And my brother had a shit eating grin on his face that I could tell he was thinking he was getting his way thanks to mommy dearest. I said "FUCK NO!" to both their faces, and my mother cried that I was using foul language to her and being an ass when I had the space now. I called my dad, and he told my mom that he'd warned her I wouldn't do it. And to leave me the hell alone. Mom whined my brother was living out of his camper next to a shabby house he was renting space from. I said that wasn't my problem to fix. And my brother has proven countless times that he cannot be trusted. My brother was fuming to the point of being red with veins popping out. My mom tried one more time to convince me with tears. And that just made me angrier.
I went on a rant that was something like this. Bro can't buy a house, so he wanted to invade mine. I refuse to ever live with my brother again. I would sooner live in the woods without electricity than with him. He's intentionally irritating as all hell. And if I had him as a roommate, I just knew he'd steal my booze, take my stuff, and invade my privacy none-stop. Not. Fucking. HAPPENING! No matter how many tears mom tries using on me. My mom broke down and finally conceded she'd never convince me after that rant. And she had to take my brother by the hand and leave with him because he initially refused to go, and kept begging her to turn back and make me let him move in. And then I yelled to him that it was a laugh that he called me a mama's boy before. Because he'd become exactly that. And this was just like the time he tried to get our mother to make me trade vehicles with him because he felt ashamed to be driving a minivan. He yanked away from mom, then told me to go fuck myself and the horse I rode in on. I laughed and pointed out I didn't ride in on anything, because I was already home. But his rattlecan horse was waiting for him in the driveway. He flipped his lid again, and looked like his head was going to explode. But mom got in front of him, and told him to just go. Then he drove off in his rattlecan Silverado without her. He'd driven her there. And then I had to take her home.
While taking her home, I made things very clear with my mother over why I could never trust my brother again. And his life was not my burden to bear. And then told her how little my brother was offering for rent anyway. Which he'd conveniently not told her. Then I later rented that same room to one of my best friends for $600 a month, and he pays for utilities. The other two rooms are my bedroom and a home office. There's an extra room in the separate garage too. So my mother tried to make me let my brother live in the garage instead. There's enough room in it's storage room for a bedroom. Again I said fuck no. And that's since been turned into another friend's rented room with a bit of a plywood remodel. Yeah, I kinda rented both the spare bedroom and garage room out to friends out of spite. But I wasn't letting my brother live with me in any capacity!
My brother later ended up having a complete meltdown in front of our parents over how he's the older brother. He should be the one who owns a house first. He's supposed to be successful, and I'm supposed to be the big loser in his shadow. Our dad poked him with his cane and told him that's not how life works, and they had a big argument. They told him to get out and not come back until he's cooled off and learned that he's just being a pointlessly jealous asshole.
The next part I post, my brother did the dumbest thing of all.
Edit: I came home late to over 600 comments, and still more pouring in. Far too many for me to answer. So I'll clear some things up here. Yes, I am no contact with my brother. And he's NC with the rest of the family as well. I do have cameras inside and outside my home. And a dash cam too. My brother knows this, and has stayed the fuck away since he left town. I'm told I'm an asshole too. Not arguing that, because it's true. I'm not exactly the nicest guy. But have someone like my brother in your life, and see how peachy you turn out.
Some have mentioned to having siblings just like my brother. Sadly I know very well people like him are increasingly common these days. My dad said a number of times that my brother probably would have ended up dead in an alley if he lived here 50 years ago with the way he behaves. As for our ages. I'm 30, and my brother is 32. I have not given my parents a spare key to my house. One is with a friend, and another is very cleverly hidden.
My house is a manufactured home. But it's not in a trailer park, and has been significantly modified with new siding and a new roof, and has a separate garage building. The previous owner was a former general contractor, and he loved to build and repair. And yes, I do have good insurance.
I keep seeing comments about a clock radio. Pardon me for not getting the reference. But I do own a digital alarm clock that has a built in CD player. Currently plays Tina Turner's Proud Mary to wake me up.
My brother and I were raised pretty evenly. He was always a jerk. But went full asshole after moving out. But our mother didn't favor him. She chewed him out plenty. And she didn't normally side with his stupidity. She just wanted him to live in a better place than in a camper next to a house filled with potheads. Addition: My brother willingly moved into that camper. He was renting half a room in that house of potheads. Then convinced the landlord to let him live in his camper on the property for the same price instead. And he bragged about his camper a lot. Which he has a full gaming center in, complete with PlayStation. He only wanted to invade my house to piss me off and make his cost of living even lower. He also doesn't like camping nearly as much as me. He mainly liked just pissing me off by following me. He loved to make me miserable. In fact, he felt entitled to make me miserable. That's the kind of person he is.
Do I have a restraining order against my brother? Not really. Just didn't bother. Because even if I did, it'd only be for like a year. And my brother wouldn't let something like that stop him if he was truly determined anyway.

My entitled brother lost his mind and attacked me, his ex, and our father. That got him disowned by the family. But not before I beat the crap out of him May 8, 2024

Warning: Contains domestic violence, small town drama, and idiocy. Read at own risk.
My brother's major downhill spiral started with jealousy over my house, but only got worse thanks to this next part. He started smoking pot more heavily and drinking harder. And that was making him more aggressive and violent. He got in a brawl outside of a bar for reasons I still don't know. But he got his ass handed to him on a platter. He eventually found out his ex has been seeing someone else. And ironically that someone is another friend of mine. Which was news to me. But it's not like he wasn't around my brother's ex a fair bit. They're both fairly social people, and were also friends for years. Once the secret was out, he confessed to me it wasn't planned. But my brother's ex Sara (Fake name) and my friend just clicked one day about a year ago. This sorta thing can only happen in a town like ours. I admit, Sara is very beautiful. But I've always seen her as a big sister figure ever since she started dating my brother in high school. So I never thought of getting with her myself. She kept her new boyfriend a secret for some time. I didn't even know until someone else spilled the beans. And the word traveled. When my brother found out, that was the last he could mentally take.
My brother was hoping for years that Sara would take him back. But no such luck there. When he lost his mind over the fact my friend was dating Sara, he started hunting for the poor guy. My friend is not a fighter, and a self described beanpole. So that's what I'll call him. Sara seems to like Beanpole because he's everything my brother is not. He isn't really a brave person. And came to me when he found out my brother was looking for him. He has a rather distinctively painted car. So it's easy to spot. My brother caught wind Beanpole was at my place, and came roaring his truck down the street.
When my brother showed up to my house, he started screaming and banging on my door because he wanted to kick Beanpole's ass. And when I refused to let him in, he attacked me. We had a redneck brawl right there in my front lawn. I want to say I won. But the fight only stopped when one of my friend/tenants yelled he was gonna call the cops. I sucker-punched my brother while he was distracted, and told him to never come back to my house again. And if he ever tried to hurt Beanpole again, I'd make sure he'd up in the hospital with two broken legs. This was backed by the other friends/tenants I had there. My brother is an idiot. But even he knew that pissing off my entire friend group was not a good idea. So he picked himself up off the ground and started leaving. But he clearly looked like he wanted to do something to my truck because he stopped and just stood there staring at it with his hands in his pockets, like he was debating scratching the paint with his keys. I yelled at him that I have CCTV. But then he turned around, pulled his pants part way down, and started rubbing his ass directly onto my truck's passenger side door. Then he forced out a nasty fart and said he sharted a little, and laughed like a nutbar when he took off. I immediately got the hose. I'm just glad I didn't leave windows open or doors unlocked. Otherwise he'd have done far worse. And the smell of what he did was pretty much what you'd think.
Everyone already knew Sara was never going to take him back. She avoided dating for years because my brother is so unhinged that she knew he'd do something like this. That's why she and her new boyfriend kept it secret. I went to ice my bruises and call Sara. But my brother was already calling and texting her. Over and over again, he wouldn't stop. He was begging she break up with her boyfriend and take him back. He even said he wanted to marry her and move to the northwest. Not sure why he specified that part of the US. Maybe because we live in the southeast. But she flatly told him no, never again, not happening even if hell froze over. He cried that it wasn't fair, because she was his first love (she wasn't), and they have a daughter together. Then he started sending her flowers, love letters and gifts. She sent them all back. Then she announced online that she and Beanpole had been dating for some time, and recently made plans to eventually move in together. That's when my brother really went off the deep end.
A few hours after he saw that post, my brother got wasted and then barged into Sara's parents' house by body ramming the back door. He actually cut his face because the door had a glass window. But he was so drunk that he didn't notice he was bleeding. Sara understandably freaked out, and my brother grabbed and tried to force her to kiss him. She pushed him away and he hit her for refusing him. He slapped her and threw her to the floor really hard like an angry pimp wanting his money. And his daughter saw it all and started screaming at the top of her lungs. Sara screamed too, and my brother fled. Police were called, and Sara was taken to the hospital. My brother threw her down so hard that she had a dislocated shoulder. My brother was found by police at his camper, where he was even more drunk than before, and half his face was covered in blood. He had to be taken to the hospital, where he got stitches. Then taken to jail. He got charged with trespassing, breaking and entering, and assault. (Surprisingly not DUI too, as he'd actually walked there) When our parents and I found out, well the family finally couldn't take it anymore, and went into an uproar. Our parents had it out with my brother after he bailed himself out from jail, and then he tried to fight our dad when they argued. And no surprise, he tried to blame everything on me.
My brother actually said I let Beanpole steal his woman. But couldn't really explain how. He also refused to believe I did not know until recently. Then he said that Sara was supposed to be his. Dad not only disagreed, but told my brother that he was a fucking disgrace, and that was an absolutely disgusting way to talk about Sara. She's not his property. And then my brother shoved dad as hard as he could. Dad got knocked to the floor, and my brother started kicking him. Dad isn't a small man. But he's old with a bad back and a bad knee. And needs a cane just to get around. Since we knew my brother would only have gotten crazier if he saw me, I was hiding in another room with the door cracked and listening in. I knew he might do something crazy. So I insisted on secretly being in the house when he was confronted. And I'm glad I was, because I came to dad's defense before my brother could do too much damage. I knew we were roughly even in a fight. So I ambushed and hit him in the back with a rubber mallet, and then beat the shit out of him. No police were called that time. I attacked him in defense of our dad. So he probably would have been screwed if he tried to get me charged anyway. And then he'd have gone right back to jail. Someone also once asked me if I enjoyed beating up my brother that day. I did not. I was just in an adrenaline fueled rage protecting my dad. But all things considered, I could have done far worse to my brother with that rubber mallet, as he only really got bruises. My dad gave hm a good smack in the face with his cane too though. But it's just hollow aluminum. Not exactly a damage dealer.
Our parents (mainly my dad) disowned my brother as I threw him out the door. And he spent some time crying on the porch and saying he was sorry and didn't mean it, then switched to saying we could all regret this, and we could go fuck ourselves before finally leaving. My mother spent hours crying. She'd stuck up for him before, and this was how he repaid her. My brother managed to avoid real prison time, or a trial for attacking Sara by taking a guilty plea deal. He signed away custody of his daughter. And Sara got a restraining order against him. My brother got a fine, somehow only a couple months in county jail, probation, has to abstain from alcohol for six months, and he had to pay for the property damage. Sara's dad already put in a new door, and billed my brother for it. My brother also understandably lost his job due to the situation.
Our mother secretly kept in contact with my brother, and agreed to look after my brother's truck and camper while he was serving his two month sentence. And she didn't ok it with dad first. He was pretty pissed at her for going behind his back. But she reasoned that it would be the last thing they ever did for him, because she didn't want my brother to have no place to go after getting out of the clink. And even she made it clear it was the last of her good will towards him too. Once my brother got out of jail, mom drove his truck and camper to a store to meet him, and gave him back the keys. She told me there was barely a word of thanks from him. Mostly just grunts when she tried to get him to talk to her. Dad said he still looked like an ungrateful sod. After that my brother lived wherever he could park his camper for a while until one of his remaining friends somehow got him a new job as a welder in another town 40-ish miles away that he was having to commute to with his camper for a while. But he was back every weekend. Apparently he only got the job by agreeing to work for less than what the job would normally pay. So he could move there permanently as soon as he got the ok from his probation officer. Which said officer didn't make easy I heard. I don't know the red tape of it. But he managed to pull it off. He can't leave the state. But he could still move to another county it seems. He's probably renting a space in a trailer park right now or something. And maybe he's back to doing his side hustle of hauling trash for people.
Before leaving town, my brother showed up outside my house to give me the double middle finger and dance around like a monkey while cursing at me in the street when he knew I was watching from the window. I guess it was his stupid way of trying to get in a last laugh without breaking the law or something. But then I got an idea. I've heard plenty of people say to kill with kindness. So I tried it in my own way. I grabbed an unopened bottle of my favorite honey whisky from the pantry because I know my brother really loves that stuff too. Then I went outside and walked right up to him, and shoved the bottle into his hands. I think it was the last thing he expected me to do in the moment. And I know he'd NEVER willingly break a bottle of good booze. Especially when it's free. Then I told him to have a drink on me to start his new life. I could barely keep myself from laughing when I turned to walk away. When I looked at my CCTV footage later, he actually stood there looking really glum while just staring at the bottle, and then moped back to his truck.
And then he was gone. Off to start his new life as a career welder. My brother is a childish, narcissistic, misogynistic, asshole to an extreme degree. But he's actually damn good at welding. Both with steel and aluminum. Mostly self-taught too. It's practically his only real talent. He's even done basic forging and auto body work. I've seen him do shit with scrap metal I wish I could. But that's the only real compliment I can still say about him. Maybe he'll make a decent new life and career for himself doing metal work elsewhere. He's better off away from us, just like we're better off away from him. He deleted all his social media, and I assume blocked us on everything. Not that we'd bother to contact him. One of his few remaining pothead friends in town told me my brother wants to legally change his name when his probation ends. Knowing him, he'll likely do it.
Things are much more peaceful and far less dramatic without my entitled leech of a brother here. Some part of me missed him for a while. But he's just a terrible person. And the only one who's still missing him, is our mother. She's still kinda broken up about it. But dad has been unwavering that they did the right thing by disowning him. He made his own bed. Now he's lying in it. I doubt my brother will come back any time soon. And if he does, he will not be welcome.
Edit: Got home and cracked open a bag of salt & pepper pork rinds, and was half expecting hundreds of comments like last time. I'm thankful it wasn't. Still, I'm also thankful to everyone who gave their support. To answer some questions I got in comments and DMS. I've got cameras inside and outside my house. Beanpole and Sara are still dating. But they've put off moving in together for now. My niece is doing good. But says she has no daddy anymore. My brother was barely a father to her anyway. Yes I know it was a bit much giving a known alcoholic a bottle of booze. And good booze at that. But I knew he wouldn't be able to drink it for months anyway. Which is why I was trying so hard to hold back laughter when I gave it to him. Besides, he's just gonna drink like a fish on his own dime when his court ordered sober time runs out.
I'm hoping this is the last post about current antics involving my brother. Maybe I'll tell other past stories about him. Or the story of my cheating ex. Still couldn't bring myself to post that. I typed it out and everything. But I guess it still ate at me because I really liked that woman. And yeah, this situation with my brother eats at me too. But he's toxic. And I'm better off without him in my life anymore.

2024.05.07 11:19 Calathe Company asks WHY OH WHY even though the situation was predicted months ago by regular employees

Hey folks!
I just had a 🤡 conversation with manager that I thought you'd find amusing in this sub. (I'm not in the US so I won't need any specific advice on sickness, etc, but thanks!)
Situation:
I've worked at the company for three years in a team with a specific skill. Since starting there, the company has been restrictive, controlling, the rules ridiculous. For example, one employee was given a warning because they had their jacket on their chair. Another employee because they were on the bathroom 2 minutes 'too long' (It isn't even legal in Europe to track toilet times, but whatever...).
The company kept placing more and more restrictions on us in terms of what we could access on the network (currently, not even Google) and it wasn't great working there to begin with. An employee's task at this company is literally to sit and stare at the screen, where 99% of the time nothing is happening. I am not exaggerating when I say this. The job depends on customer interactions, but there are very few customers, so, an employee might receive one interaction per week or less. Some have received none.
All of this is just prelude. I could go on and on and on about other shitty behaviour, like racism, sexism, the constants threats of being fired if we are sick, the ridiculous rigidity with which we are treated, like criminals.
The reason anyone's stayed is the money, which admittedly is very good, especially for doing nothing at all.
On to the kicker, the reason I'm here, posting this:
Sickness.
In my team (specific skill), there are currently 20 employees. Of these 20 employees, 13 are sick to various extents. This can be long term sickness (about 5-7 employees currently), short-term, or some weird thing where you call out one day, work one, call out again the next, continued. Or, you're sick every other week, or twice a month. Now, this is not new. The sickness pattern has been bad (but not this bad, I guess) since shortly after the project started (2 years ago) and it is not just my team, it is every team in the project with about 50-70% illness rate constantly. A few of the managers even called in sick before anyone else started and were gone for months (they started a few months earlier than us regular drudges) with burnout, even though there wasn't really even any work back then. But I digress. You get it. The situation is pretty bad.
We (the grunts) saw this coming for months. We tried endlessly, again and again, to make management aware of WHY people are going on sick leave and what would happen in a few months if things don't change (basically, what would happen NOW).
Now, shit has hit the fan, and the company's client (whose project this is) is losing trust in the company being able to handle the project.
No shit, Sherlock.
Today, then, I was talking with a manager, because I too had to call in sick. This manager asked me WHY OH WHY is everyone calling in sick, especially in my (specific skill) team.
My response: We told you why over the last few months, and we told you how it would escalate, even predicting what would happen NOW and is happening NOW. Here are some reason: (I listed a few of the worst ones... like we are unable to use our PTO at the moment due to shitty system and shortages... salary is often wrong, like we don't get paid what is owed us for working night shifts...)
Manager: No no no, that's not right. WHY IS EVERYONE CALLING IN SICK?
Me: Ok, well, since you don't believe us and never have, even when we predicted what would happen and it' happened exactly how we said it would, why do YOU think everyone is sick?
Manager, ignoring the question entirely...: Ok, can you write down why you think everyone is sick? (Which I did like... 5 mins ago, this was all in a text chat, scroll up dude...)
Me, at this point more exhausted even though I'd intended to call in sick BUT offer a solution that might work to get me back to work sooner... (which would basically be changing my shift to one that is less noisy/busy/full of internal BS): Ok, I will think on it.
Reader, this is it. I will not make a list, because hundreds of lists have already been made by us grunts, and always been ignored. I will not argue any more, I will just stay on sick leave until I feel better, no questions answered if they come with more stupid shit.
What do you think? They're just willfully ignoring all warnings and advice, and then wondering WHY OH WHY things are happening exactly as everyone but them could see they would.
This isn't even real any more at this point. 🤡🤡🤡🤡

2024.05.07 01:00 EducationalShirt629 How can I control a servo using a ESP32

Im trying to use rust on a micro controller at the moment and I just cant figure out what I need to do to get it to work. I am using no_std and am using esp_hal as my lib for talking with the chip. Im just really lost on how to communicate and the frequencies to use to get it to work.
```Rust
#![no_std] #![no_main] use esp_backtrace as _; use esp_hal::{ clock::ClockControl, gpio::IO, mcpwm::{operator::PwmPinConfig, timer::PwmWorkingMode, PeripheralClockConfig, MCPWM}, peripherals::Peripherals, prelude::*, }; use esp_println::println; #[entry] fn main() -> ! { let peripherals = Peripherals::take(); let system = peripherals.SYSTEM.split(); let clocks = ClockControl::boot_defaults(system.clock_control).freeze(); // Getting pin let io = IO::new(peripherals.GPIO, peripherals.IO_MUX); let servo_pin = io.pins.gpio18; let clock_config = PeripheralClockConfig::with_frequency(&clocks, 40.MHz()).unwrap(); // Creating PWM object for servo let mut servo_pwm = MCPWM::new(peripherals.MCPWM0, clock_config); servo_pwm.operator0.set_timer(&servo_pwm.timer0); let mut pwm_pin = servo_pwm .operator0 .with_pin_a(servo_pin, PwmPinConfig::UP_ACTIVE_HIGH); let timer_clock_config = clock_config .timer_clock_with_frequency(99, PwmWorkingMode::Increase, 50.kHz()) .unwrap(); servo_pwm.timer0.start(timer_clock_config); pwm_pin.set_timestamp(50); println!("Starting Program"); loop {} }
```
My code compiles fine just not sure what to do.

2024.05.06 23:27 jayce_blonde J Swap Help

J Swap Help
Hi all,
My 99 H22 Prelude with the SS 4AT has over 210k miles and the trans is noticeably aging. It will be dead very soon, I fear.
I have other cars I can use for daily driving. I can leave this in a garage while working on it for a couple weeks if need be.
I live in CA so the emissions laws means no tuning. Gotta have a stock drivetrain from your model year or newer from the same class vehicle and brand as your original vehicle. That means I can drop in a stock J32A2 and get 260hp and an automatic transmission that presumably isn’t a slushbox. Yeah yeah I’ll manual swap it if I move to another state where I can install a supercharger and/or if it’s much easier than the auto to get working
Assuming I use a J swap mount kit, the existing Prelude fuel tank with retrofit lines, the original ECU and AT control unit, a Volvo electric pump for the existing hydraulic steering rack, and forget about AC for the moment but I’d like to do it in the future, what else should I be looking out for?

2024.05.05 12:08 No_Chrysler-4-Me My brother sold the Mini-Ram and got a Silverado. That was fine. It's what happened after that made things worse

He showed up begging me to drive him over 60 miles to look at this truck he found on Markeet Prace.
But he didn't listen and DIY'd some body work, and then rattle-canned it with Rustoium turbo cans. The paint was full of orange peel, and overspray. He didn't even use primer. And the truck looked kinda mediocre. Then the southern weather had at it. Already numerous chips, scrapes and fades. Whatever. I stopped caring.
Youd think that'd be the end of this part.
Ater that there was more dumb BS that I won't bother getting into.

2024.05.01 05:24 Aromatic_Director_30 ...Into The Fire~ Rebooking WCW Starrcade '99

So, here's a little intro for you guys.. Starrcade, the one of the first alternatives to WrestleMania and has many great moments such as: Ric Flair dethroning Harley Race, Magnum TA v. Tully Blanchard and many others... But we must talk about the holy trinity of f*ckery, starting from '97 to '99 with '97 being ruined by creative control gone wrong, '98 with a dumb booking decision and '99 with a injury that could've been prevented.
But I was given the one that was genuine freak accident, well I will try to fix not only Starrcade '99 but the state of WCW and try to give them a true competition against WWF. But here's the basis of this right now, No Vince Russo. Surprised? No, didn't think so. To quote John Cena " It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than open it and prove 'em right." And I am not blaming him, but he is one of the biggest reasons WCW failed and bringing him in wouldn't have helped so instead we'd have the booking minds of Dusty Rhodes, Jerry Jarrett, Terry Taylor and others..
The Locker room needs unity and a leader, hopefully being one of the head writers, Dusty Rhodes can lead WCW talent and personally, sooth things over rather than not letting your own talent in on your product. Because again, Russo was good.. With somebody not letting him go a hundred miles every minute.
So, WCW has a well-rounded creative team, a roster that has the past, present and future of the business that helps and in my world, several points in WCW that led to the rating decline such as: NWO civil wars, the return of Warrior and just plain old not caring with being busy about television contracts and actually care that we have an alternate to make more money for years... By the end of this, WCW could either go out due to the AOL TimeWarner merger or actually be a decent alternate... But I will save this for the aftermath conclusion.
MID CARD EPPS Presents Starrcade '99, Alexa play "My Beloved Monster".
I. Evan Karagias(c) v. Chavo Guerrero Jr. v. Juventud Guerrera v. Eli Skipper v. Psychosis v. Disco Inferno: Six Man Elimination WCW Cruiserweight Championship
Build: So, towards the end of their days WCW's cruiserweight division lost some light and it didn't help that their key stars transitioned to being in mid card purgatory or went to WWE and made a bigger impact on their careers. So, in the beginning of the year.. Keep your Kidman, Malenko, Mysterio Jr. and etc. and have them elevate the cards outside of the first hour and give the occasional semi main events, especially if the segments are just NWO shenanigan's and the audiences something to invest in for the years to come, basically be the prelude to what we know as the X Division.
Kidman goes into 1999 as the Cruiserweight Champion and has several challengers step to the plate, but none have been closer than Chavo Guerrero Jr and Psychosis. Both men have been close and still couldn't get the opportunity done, but it stops when a new threat enters the division.... 3 COUNT! Shane Helms, Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias ,the hottest boyband in WCW have made their intentions known in the division and made enemies out Kidman, Guerrero and Pyschosis and even put Kidman on the shelf to vacant the championship and making it 3 Count's under Freebird rule.
Also, Juventud Guerrera makes his mission that no new blood makes an impact in the division and keeping the competition clear for him, but he meets an impressive challenge in Eli Skipper. The two compete in intense matchups with the officials getting involved, but Skipper shows that he can hang within the cruiserweight division. And Disco Inferno has been in a rut since getting kicked out the NWO again... and continues to be a fool of and decided to find a place in the cruiserweight division and decided to "cut some weight" to make himself apart of the division and cheated to be a factor in the division.
The match is absolute banger with Three Count making their intentions known and interfering in the match getting Chavo Jr and Psychosis eliminated in the match, but that came to bite with the eliminated men taking care of Helms and Moore resulting in Karagias getting eliminated promising the audience a new champion. Juventud and Skipper continue to deliver a nonstop action packed bout ending with Skipper getting the upper hand against The Juice once more, but Disco immediately schoolboys him to win the Cruiserweight title becoming an Enzo Amore figure until Kidman returns to confront him.
\NEW CHAMPION* Disco Inferno wins via pinfall.*
II. Scott Steiner v. David Flair
Build: Since joining the NWO, Big Poppa Pump, Scott Steiner has been a elevated to another and showed that with being the WCW United States Championship. He also showed that superstar potential in the NWO, but he pushed by Hogan and was relegated to baby sitting Ric Flair's son, David. Scott has to do the amazing Buddy Rogers promo and state that he's now David's father, vowing to teach him how to be a Freakzilla than a player in a game.
During their partnership, Flair has taken several digs against father but the legendary former World Champion has made his intention to bring his son back home and away from the nasty NWO. But Steiner refuses to let this happen and makes The Nature Boy #2 life a living hell, but during an assault was enough for David and finally turned his back against the black and white to reunite with his father and injures Steiner for a couple of months. David goes on to be endorsed by his father and groomed to be a potential horsemen, learning from Arn and Tully with that getting him a US Championship match but ending in an disqualification due to a returning Scott Steiner.
He tells that little bastard, that broke a brotherhood and will make sure that he lives in hell regretting turning his back against Big Freakzilla! He makes it his mission to destroy anything associated with the name Flair in it lol. Limos, Stylist, Horsemen and even Lil' Naitch gets caught in the line of fire and Steiner has gotten Flair jumped by the NWO to make sure that nobody can protect David from his well deserved ass-whooping (Insert Bark noises for Steiner).
This is obviously a squash match for Steiner and he destroys the absolute tar out of poor Flair and ends with a signature gorilla press slam into a Steiner recliner for the win. But Ric returns to avenge his defeated son and teases a match with Steiner.
Scott Steiner wins via submission.
III. Shane Douglas(c) v. Rick Steiner: Singles for the WCW Television Championship
Build: Keep it simple, Shane Douglas takes another crack at WCW being the future franchise player and it pays off with an impressive main event match with DDP. Even leads The Revolution alongside Saturn and Malenko as the new collective wanting to snatch any opportunities that were stolen from them.
This led to Shane winning the Television Championship and establishing himself as WCW's Top Dog and this doesn't sit right with a Top Dog himself, Rick Steiner daring to make Douglas put his money where his mouth is.. But gets nothing but a backed down champion walking away until the challenger has his back turned away. And this is leading to one of Shane's biggest challenges as the Television Champion.
Steiner showcase his speed and dominance against the champion and it puts him in a tough space to walk out the victor and decided to take an easy escape and immediately bring a foreign object into the match and strike his opponent with the referee directly seeing it and calling for a disqualification and Douglas reign lives to see another day. Until he runs into Diamond Dallas Page, who gives him a diamond cutter for his trouble and teases ending the reign pretty soon.
Shane Douglas retains via disqualification.
IV. Bam Bam Bigelow v. Kanyon v. Chris Candido
Build: Kanyon is finally on his own from being held back by Raven and makes his intentions known that the new millennium belongs to none other than Kanyon, but Candido and Bam Bam state that they didn't leave a bingo hall to just be background players and decided to rain on Kanyon's little resolution which turns into in-fighting and results in a triple threat match featuring three great talents.
The match showcases each man's ability with the ending being that Kanyon got Bam Bam down with a buckshot lariat and to add an exclamation point delivers a top rope maneuver, but Candido stops the pinfall capitalizes by powerbombing him to Bigelow and follows it with a Blonde Bombshell to win the match.
Chris Candido wins via pinfall.
V. Rey Mysterio Jr. & Eddie Guerrero(c) v. The Revolution(Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn): Tag Team match for the WCW Tag Team Championship
Scrapped, pushing my deadline and had a lot for this match... Probably will run this as a separate booking of it's own but.....
Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio Jr. retain via pinfall
VI. Jeff Jarrett v. Sting
Build: It's the Chosen One v. The Icon! Since his return to WCW, Jeff Jarrett has made it his mission to prove everyone wrong that he was meant to be the star that companies held him back to be and went after his own father to show that he is meant to cut from a different cloth. Now Jarrett doesn't do a lot of guitar shots, because he didn't draw a lot of dimes so save it for big shows and moments but that assault on his father questioned the state of WCW and enters.... Sting!
Jeff Jarrett goes over LOL!
Jeff Jarrett wins via pinfall.
VII. Chris Benoit v. Booker T: World Heavyweight Championship tournament finals
Build: Same as the best of seven series, but the stakes are higher and Benoit goes over.
Chris Benoit wins via submission.
VIII. Bret Hart(c) v. Goldberg: Singles match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Build: Yes, I would still run Bret v. Goldberg and I really thought there was another opponent but this was really where the universe stood and I could actually make this better than the actual build to this match and we go back to Bret's arrival in WCW where he's not really treated like a big deal and is pushed aside for WCW acts until he won the championship.
But ruining that was the rise of Goldberg, before we knew it Bret lose the championship and was losing his spot to Goldberg. Until an incident went wrong leaving Goldberg out of action for awhile and gives Bret some spotlight until Billy boy returns and officially makes a challenge and tells the excellence of executioner that he's next.
Same match, but instead of a kick, Goldberg goes for a spear and is knocked out by Bret striking him with a fist and it's revealed that Hart had a pair of brass knuckles and another year of Goldberg losing continues with Bret being awaited by his next contender, Chris Benoit.
Bret Hart retains via pinfall.
VIV. Hollywood Hogan v. Kevin Nash: The End of The New World Order
Build: Instead of the fingerpoke of Doom, we witness Nash v. Hogan but with an interesting twist that Scott Hall betrays Nash to realign with Hogan and make him the Heavyweight Champion until losing it to Goldberg. But this becomes the huge money match for Starrcade and it's the final chapter of the NWO saga with Hogan v. Nash and making it a mountain for this match to happen with Hogan dodging any challenge Nash makes and puts an NWO lackey in front of him.
But there was one lackey left and his name is Scott Hall, the match between Hall and Nash is actually a tearjeaker to see the former friends have to fight it out but during the match it's Hall that shows his former friend respect and accepts defeat. But Hogan immediately assaults Hall and writes him off television, leading Nash wanting to personally end the monster that he created and states that this is the end of the New World Order at Starrcade, with one man's future hanging in the balance.
Don't know don't care truly enough about their wrestling skills, but Nash goes over brother and Hulk can go cry to Linda about it.
Kevin Nash wins via pinfall.

2024.04.26 22:08 SlyBeanx Manual swap 2008

I’ve been reading swap threads on manual swapping these trucks, but I’ve run into something I’ve not yet seen on any thread.
For ECUs, I’ve got an 08 truck and a 99 transmission/clusteECU/wiring etc.
I doubt I’ll be able to simply swap the ecu in because of PATs, but what are my alternatives?
Find a 08 manual trucks ECU and get it programmed to my key?
Can I flash my own ECU to a manual, if so how? (I’ve done tuning before on megasquirt so this is my first preference).
Everything I’ve read is pre 06 which is when I believe PATS was established to prevent rollback/theft

2024.04.26 01:28 GlobbaStoppa Trusted Mechanic Shops?

I have a 1989 Honda Prelude that I want to get running but because of the cars age Im getting turned down left and right due to them just not knowing how to handle the vehicle. I dont think any of the problems are genuinely bad, from what Im aware I need a new ecu and I have a short in my tailights. Is there any shops that have experienced enough people to help that wont price gouge?

2024.04.20 23:05 NewRetroGamer85 Lancer Evo tune (PS2)

I've been replaying this game for a few months now, and I've seen everyone complaining about the Evo's handling. I can honestly say it's warranted. It should handle like the AE86 in this game, but instead it has understeer like nobody's business. So I've experimented with its dyno tuning and figured it out. At least for how I drive.
Suspension tuning: Front lowering: All the way to the left. Rear lowering: Two or three notches to the right of the front lowering. All the springs, shocks, and sway bars at 8.42 to 8.52. They all should be even or lined up because it's AWD. Steering ratio: All the way to the right.
Drivetrain: (MPH) 1st gear: 42.5 2nd gear: 72.9 3rd gear: 99.2 4th gear: 128.3 5th gear: 161.3 6th gear: 192.0 Final drive ratio: 4.07
Aero: Front: All the way to the right Rear: 7.00-7.90 (depends on how much you want the back end to go out when you brake)
Tires and brakes: Both front and rear all the way to the right. Brake Bias: -0.13 Basically I have rear brake bias so the back end can drift out during a corner. Helps me at least.
ECU: First two on the left all the way down. Four through nine all the way up. The third one should be mostly up. Takes time to get it that way. But it works.
Turbo: First four all the way down. Six through 9 all the way up. Five mostly up. Kinda mirrors what the ECU tuning did.
Nitrous: 4 second duration.
And that's it. Hopefully this helps a bit. Driving it is different compared to other cars that can whip around corners like the AE86 and Celica. You have to brake earlier and go really wide. Then start the turn earlier. Also this is without unique suspension upgrades, so it might be better with those.

  • Visit Tallahassee (old Amtrak Station): Understanding the LGBTQ History of Tallahassee. What would a queer history of Tallahassee look like? What are the most important developments in the writing of queer and LGBT history, and how can they be applied to interpreting the queer experience in Tallahassee over the past 200 years? One of the first academic authors of gay and lesbian history earned his PhD at Florida State in the early 1970s and taught some of the first university courses on LGBT history and culture in the nation on the Florida State campus. Why isn’t this story better known, and how can we build on this legacy? How can theory help ensure that we write histories that acknowledge the centrality of race, class, gender, and gender identity, while also always foregrounding issues of political power, labor, coercion, and class? Theory is not about making what is simple obscure, but instead about helping us to see mechanisms at work, and lives lived, that may have left only faint traces in the archive, rounding out and completing the evidence that has survived in greater abundance. Join Professor Charles Upchurch, Professor of British & LGBTQ History at Florida State University, for a 40-minute illustrated exploration of all of these themes as they relate to Tallahassee’s queer history. 5pm/free

This early spring bloom, commonly known as creeping phlox or moss phlox, also bears the charming name "moss pink." Visitors can enjoy an after-hours self-guided tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit for the lighthouse’s original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. For those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast, evening tower climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. 2024.04.15 14:49 MidDeep First Time Host - Advice?

First Time Host - Advice?
Thinking about renting my 370Z on Turo. It's a 2010 Sport Model, 6-Speed, 40k on it, completely stock. Was thinking if i'm going to rent i'll order an EcuTek tuner to restrict the RPM limit to 6000RPM 1st gear and 7000RPM 2nd-6th from 7500RPM stock, and lock traction control to ON so the car can't be beaten on as hard.
I was planning on going with the 75% package as this seems to offer the best combination of coverage, deductible and profit for me.
I was planning on vetting any potential renters before letting them take the car (5 minute competence road test) to ensure they're capable of driving manual.
I don't have an emotional attachment towards this car and it sits in my driveway and rarely gets driven that's why i'm considering renting it over selling it.
I was planning on renting it for $239.99 for 1 day, 219.99 per-day for 2 days and the lowest being $199.99 per-day if 3+ day rental. As well as adding extra services such as delivery and pickup. How many KM should I include per-day and how much $ per extra 1KM should I set?
To give you a little extra market info. I live in Sydney, Nova Scotia. There are currently no 'sports cars' for rent locally. Where I live is also a tourist destination, we get lots of cruise ships and people rent cars to view the mountains, etc.
Any and all advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much!

~ General Recommendations (All Consoles) For Anyone Who Can't Decide ~

First off, I won't recommend big or famous games like Final Fantasy or Persona, this is more for lesser know, hidden gems, or just games where it's hard to find someone talking about them.

[Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children]

An amazing game, with complex and deep gameplay system, add to that a varied and loveable character cast, and more importantly, a very interesting and really fun world.
The plot is set in a contemporary earth, but one where mutants exist, think X-men but with less earth shattering powers and more practical ones. So it's really fun to see how the world and characters deal with these powers, how they affect technology, social classes, crime and crime fighting, and even the fauna and flora of the world. All of that is accompanied by a beautifully hand drawn art and amazing soundtrack.
That alone is worth the price of admission, but then you add the fact you can spend easily tens, no, hundreds of hours just customizing everything about your characters through:
  • Tiered gear (common/rare/epic/legendary), and even Unique and Set gear.
  • Upgrading classes, and having them matched with different Elemental and mutant powers.
  • A mastery system so deep and so complex that you can easily spend days just playing around with. I can't explain it here since it would take too long, but check this old comment of mine talking and explaing. (Link to comment)
  • Being able to upgrade and craft your own gear and consumables. Even Legendary, Unique ones.
If that wasn't enough, then you add a whole system for capturing and collecting monsters, even rare and Legendary types. Then for a cherry on top, you can also collect and customize robots.
All of this and I haven't even talked about the amazing soundtrack yet. The devs still update the game every week till now with new content (go and check the steam page updates), even though the game came out 4 years ago. They even gave out their first big DLC content for free, and they even reply to every review personally till this day, we are talking over 7K reviews here.
Note: The English translation is good but since this is translated from Korean, it doesn’t have the best localization. So the game is perfectly understandable, with nothing that will hinder your enjoyment unless you are someone who is really bothered by games that lack great localization.

[Valkyria Chronicles]

[Valkyria Chronicles 4]

This one is really hard to explain through words alone, but just in case, the VC series is a World War 2 military setting story, where you act as the lead of a squad and take mission to drive back the enemy. The story is drama heavy and the gameplay is tactical turn-based, but it's mixed with real-time third person shooter.
You can also make your own army by recruiting different types of solders, training them and upgrading their gear. From rifles to tanks, this is a game you have to experience to understand.

[Monster Sanctuary]

This is a solid game, everything in is polished and balanced to make sure you are having fun collecting new monsters and customizing your team through evolution/skill trees/gear and making the best in-sync party you can. I only wish it was longer, it's not short by any means, but it's not long either. I would say depending on if you're trying to "catch them all" and explore everything and fight all bosses, this could easily be a 30+ hours game, but if you focus on the story, then it's about 20 to 30 hours. Now even longer with the 2 new free DLC expansion added.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining that it's short, but that I was having so much fun, that I wish it didn't end.

[Ni no Kuni] Series

If you're looking for that great Isekai fantasy adventure feel, then these two games are where it's at. Fantastic visuals and great music, coupled with a great art style, a combo that is perfect for a chill and relaxed gaming experience. Especially when talking about the first game, with the help ofStudio Ghibli, they managed to make a truly whimsical world with that Studio Ghibli classic touch.
- Important Note: The games aren't connected story-wise, so you can start with any of them -

[Wrath of the White Witch]

For a the best fantasy adventure feel, while the combat is a hit or miss depending on your taste, don't let that stop you from actually diving into a true fairy tale world, this is the one with the better story in my opinion, so if you want more story than game, this is for you. Still it has a good share of gameplay, from raising and collecting Pokemon-like monsters, to learning and using different spells, not just in combat but for the overworld too.

[Ni no Kuni™ II: Revenant Kingdom]

This one focuses more on gameplay, with a Kingdom builder, Army battles, Heavy loot focus, and even character collector, this is the one to go with if you want more game than story. Still has the great music and he fantastical art style and setting. Add to that a lot of side activities like beating rare monsters, collecting cute creatures to help you in battle, and even going around the world to gather people to help you build your kingdom. You'll never be short on things to do.
Finally, both of them have beautifully draw world that is just a pleasure to walkthrough, made even better with the amazing orchestral soundtrack.

[Ys series]

This is a case of a whole series is filled with great games, it's really hard to go wrong here.
But if you're going to choose one, then this one is an easy pick. Fantastic soundtrack ? check! Great Smooth Action gameplay ? check! Dogi the wall breaker ? check! Base building and crafting ? check! and check! So if you're looking amazing music while you hack and slash your way through monsters and bosses, then Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is easily your go to game.

[Wolfstride]

It's a Mecha Arena Fighter where the actual fighting is about 20% of the game. The rest is just running through this very stylistic world, filled with a lot of mini-games, a story set in an alternative history of our real world (if it had different races and mechs I mean), great voice acting, social bonding system, customization, and just a really content heavy game. The start is a bit slow, but once the ball gets rolling your will have a lot to do. It's a really fun game especially if you are a fan of 90s anime.

[Blue Dragon] & [Lost Odyssey]

These two are classic titles that will probably won't be ported to or remade to modern consoles. That's why this might be the last way you'll ever get to experience 2 classic titles of the genre. Lost Odyssey has great story writing and unique character settings, and Blue Dragon has great exploration and a really fun character class customization system, and one hell of a boss theme.

[Legend of Mana Remaster]

A Fantastic game in everything except it's combat, which is average. Though with this remaster, you can even turn off combat any time you want. The remaster in itself is great, polishing up the visuals and adding a ENTIRE orchestral version for each track in the game, and this is a game with an amazing soundtrack by Yoko Shimomura. So now you can switch between the original OST and the new orchestral one at any time.
The game follows an open-world concept with lots of freedom and giving you the choice on where to place each city/kingdom/dungeon on the map, and depending on how you do it, you'll unlock better weapons, items, quests, and so on.
It's a great game that you need to experience to know how good it is.

[SaGa series]

It would take too long to explain everything here in detail. So if you want to know if the series is something you might enjoy, then check this thread to learn about the series, and where to start:
(Link to "Where do I start with the SaGa series")

As always, please do add your own recommendations, and let me know if there is mistake or if something was missing, and have a nice day.

2024.04.13 09:53 Ezshortz My First Guitar (A Story)

My First Guitar (A Story)
I was 19 when I got my first guitar. I chose it from the lower end at the back of the local music store. I remember it costing $119 but was on sale for $99. It was a Prelude CC-24. Being on the broke side back then, I entreated my best friend to buy it for me for my b-day. She finally caved and said she would. That was 1988. My friend moved away shortly thereafter and we fell out of touch. I never made friends easily, so I was by myself much of time. I loved driving out to the boonies, parking at the end of a desolate cul-de-sac or down by the riverside and getting high, sitting on the hood of my car picking and strumming, gazing up at the clouds by day and the stars by night - ya, I was kinda hippy-ish. Over the next decade that guitar was my boon companion. It was constantly in my hands, in the back seat of my car, and just omnipresent in my life. When I moved it always found a place in plain view but I noticed that everytime I picked it up it had gathered some dust and I'd spend some time cleaning it up before plucking at it for 10 minutes and setting it back into it's place. Then I found a nice case for it thinking that it would keep it clean. Again life took charge and things changed, multiple times. I vaguely recall moving that case with me wherever I went, but I never opened it anymore. Years went by, then decades. Then one day I found myself alone again and thought about an old friend, now long lost, and her gift. I dug that old case out of the back of the closet and opened it. A pang of loss hit me when I saw that old guitar. So many things had happened since I'd had it, so many years had passed... family had passed, dear friends had come and gone, some never to return; campsites and well-loved dogs, old homes and haunts long abandoned. I lifted it from the case and felt the familiar neck in my hand again. Folding my body around it seemed so natural, so right. Something was flowing back into me, memories of that stoned, long-haired mountain boy playing "Blackbird" while sitting on the hood of that old car at the end of an empty cul-de-sac while gazing at the stars. How long ago? 10, 20, 30 years...? I realized, poignantly, that I'd somehow grown old. My fingers clumsily fumbled over the frets and I tried a chord only to be met with a foul discord. Not unexpected. The strings were ancient, it was grossly out of tune, there was a vibrating buzz coming from the bridge... After a bit of TLC this old friend still sounds as good as I remember. I know it's just a old $100 guitar but the memories it evokes everytime I hold and play it always give me deep thoughts, smiles, and ya, sometimes tears.

Currently, I have the Evo X, Mustang, and Wrangler, as well as Sebring that the SO brought. I bought the Malibu and Wrangler basically for her to drive (we have a kid so...) and the title of the Sebring is signed in case I wanna sell it, but it's my daily work car. Next is an R33 GT-R or an Evo 6.

2024.03.30 07:09 lolydaggle Returning to piano after long break

I played piano for 12 years when I was growing up but stopped when I started college. I remember one of the last pieces I studied was Bach's Prelude and Fugue no 9.
I've been trying to get back into it with little success in the past couple of months. I was able to pick up the prelude pretty easily, but obviously, that fugue was way out of my ability (obviously I wasn't expecting to come back after 4 years and play it), to maybe give a sense of how much of my experience is still readily available.
I have two questions for you all: Any tips on coming back after a long break? Things I should focus on or comments on how to keep up motivation?
And a more specific questio: I have some shorter pieces from Halo Reach and Minecraft that I'm planning on using to get my bearings again, but for full pieces, does Glinka's Tarantella) and the 4th movement of Dvorak's Suite in A Major) seem like reasonable pieces to come back with?
Thanks in advance!

2024.03.24 20:28 Shroomboy79 My 99 civic doesn’t have a service connector and I need to set ignition timing

Some how some way In the 20 years this car has been alive the service connector has gone missing. I need to Jump the service connector ti check codes and also to set ignition timing
Since the connector isn’t there I need to find where those wires meet the ecu and jump the connection there
Does anybody know what pins they are? I’ve looked at a few different wiring diagrams and the information is conflicting
99 civic d16z6 swap. P28 ecu

2024.03.23 23:07 Shroomboy79 Does anybody know what might be making my car run like this?

https://imgur.com/a/4d4gZvJ (Imgur link to video of me driving said car). Basically once I’m off the clutch In 1st it’s just bogging down super hard and I get almost no response from the pedal and it starts popping and running super rough till I hit vtec and then it takes off and runs just like it should. Before vtec it runs super rough tho. It’s mostly happening in 1st but it also happens a little in second and 3rd and above are pretty much fine but still feel down on power.
It’s a 99 Honda civic with a d16z6 swap. It’s ran kinda funky since I got it for a multitude of reasons that I’m not completely sure of. The ignition timing has been off for a while and I finally got around to buying a timing light and setting the timing today but after setting the timing it runs worse than when the dizzy was fully retarded. I couldn’t find the service connector so I just adjusted the dizzy without it cuz I figured it was better than nothing and leaving it fully retarded.
Does the 99 hatch have a service connector? I really looked everywhere it could be in the passenger footwell and looked up videos and everything and I really thing that mine isn’t there. What should I do if it is indeed not there?
I do have a couple loose wires at the ecu, I was thinking I’d mess with those a little and see if maybe I bumped them when I was looking for the service connector but I don’t think I bumped them cuz the car was idling while I was looking and it never changed idle (it’s the main relay wire that’s loose and also maybe the wire for the fuel pump). I’m unsure how to fix the loose wires other then changing harnesses completely because I stretched the connector out in the process of repinning them.
Is there anything else you guys suggest checking besides ignition timing? It’s ran like this since I put the engine in but never this bad
