Nervously, I walked towards the soon-to-be-opened restaurant, ‘The Orangery.’ I have been jobless for a month now, and I might have to go back to living with my parents if I can’t find any work soon. I really have to nail this interview. Relax, you have experience in this line of work, you got this. I checked one last time if my black fur was still neatly combed and clean before I knocked on the door and opened it slowly. “Hello, may I enter?”
“Depends, are you here for the interview?”
“Yes?”
“Good, come in. You’re the first, and I want to keep this quick.” I opened the door fully and saw a tattered-looking venlil, covered in scars from head to toe, sitting at one of the tables. “Are you coming?,” he asked, impatience at my hesitation marrying his tone. I swallowed and made my way over to the table. He idly gestured to the seat as he went over a list. “Name?”
“My name is Takke, but most people call me Tak.” I gave a formal greeting with my tail, expecting him to do the same. The man, however, simply leafed through a stack of papers while searching for something.
“Takke…22 years old…2 years of experience as a waiter and 3 as a cook,” he read from my resume, not paying me any attention. This man clearly has predator disease; I hope he isn’t my boss and is simply HR, although I doubt it.
“Sorry, what is your name, sir?” He continued reading my resume for several more seconds, completely ignoring me.
“Gilt.” After several minutes of awkward silence, he spoke up again, “Do you have a problem with working with humans?”
“Ye-what, why do I need to work with humans? They wouldn’t go to a salad restaurant, right?” I suppose I could if I only have to serve one once in a while, and if they don’t get aggressive.
“I’m no bigot, anyone can eat here…and maybe you could come into contact with a human in other ways,” Gilt said, moving his ears and tail in discomfort.
“Other ways?” I asked with concern.
“Oh, you know, perhaps…a delivery guy! Yes, a delivery guy could be human, you should be able to pick up food, from a delivery man, no matter if he’s a human, venlil or other.”
“To answer your question, mister Gilt, I am open to working with humans,” I half-heartedly lied.
“Good!” he exclaimed, waging his tail slightly. “And now for the final question, how desperate are you?”
“I’m sorry? I don’t follow.”
“How desperate are you for this job?”
This is starting to sound like a…”Quite, sir, to be honest. Why do you-?“
Gilt cut me off before I could finish my sentence, “Good, you’re hired.” He suddenly leaned forward and grabbed my paw for some reason, shaking it vigorously. “Your first day is overmorrow at second claw, you will be oriented then. Here are the keys. And sign this contract.” He quickly pushed a contract towards me. After a quick glance over it’s contents, I signed it, not having much choice but to work for this crazed man. Well, I could always go and live with my mother again, although I’d rather not. It’s not that I don’t love her, but she doesn’t have any sense of privacy, and I’ve gotten quite used to living on my own.
“Thank you mister Gilt, I will not let you down.”
“Yeah, yeah, now let’s move it, I still have to buy a lot of furniture at the thrift store,” he said all while pushing me towards the door, before suddenly pausing to think for a moment. “But only quality furniture of course, because this a legitimate place, with quality furniture,” Gilt said as he resumed pushing me out of the restaurant.
As we exited, a white venlil with blond spots walked up to Gilt. “Hello, I am here for the interview.”
“Go away, we already got someone,” Gilt snapped at the spotted venlil.
“Hi, is this the Orangery?” a second venlil asked, walking up towards Gilt.
“No, go away!”

The Orangery stood on the far edge of the shopping centre, out where people only ever came for a specific store or locale. It stood snug in between a groomer salon and a rare tailor, something that had become more popular lately with the arrival of the humans.
Entering the shop, I was greeted by a strange collection of furniture one could politely call ‘colourful.’ No table was the same, only a few chairs had a matching other counterpart, and when they did, they were not even always placed at the same table. It could have been done as an artistic choice, but I’m not sure it was. On the walls hung framed pictures of green rolling hills, often displaying strange grazing animals that had an uncanny resemblance to a venlil, but quadrupedal and bearing a nose. On the counter —near the entrance— stood a plush version of one of these animals. Weirdly enough this version had its eyes facing more forward than those on the pictures, looking nearly as though it had binocular vision. Another strange detail was that there were several potted plants placed throughout the restaurant. Keeping plants inside is not something usually done in venlil culture, usually reserved to only a couple of species. Gojids and kolshians, most notably.
Passing the strange decorations and furniture, I took a look at the well-stocked bar. What was noticeably, some of the bottles only contained a measly 6% alcohol. Should I be expecting other species too?
The kitchen was fairly normal, the only thing out of place being that the wares were oddly big, as though they were made for a larger species. The most notable proof of this was the apron hanging from a hook. There were 3 words printed on it in a language that I did not recognize. I guessed that it was for a nevok considering the size of it. Why would a nevok be working here, don’t they usually charge much more then other species? Perhaps a takkan, there are not that many bipedal species that are this big. Now I think about it, I have no idea with how many people I’m going to work with, or anything about this company to begin with. I thought as I put on the oversized apron, the bottom hanging so low that it almost became a tripping hazard. I began taking inventory of everything in the kitchen so that I would know where everything was before I would officially start.
The chime above the door must have rung, but I was too focused on taking inventory to process what I heard. A creeping sensation came over me, and I saw a large, looming thing from the corner of my eye. I quickly spun around with a jump and saw that a massive human was standing in the doorframe. I quickly concluded that it was a man, as it was clearly missing the enlarged mammalians human females had, and it definitely had the increased muscle mass that some of the males had. He was even bigger then the humans I had seen and avoided in the streets; he had to have ducked to fit through the doorframe. This must be one of those ‘alpha males’ I have read about. His face bore a matte white mask. It was made out of some thick plastic like it was meant to protect his face, it was featureless, except for small holes around the mouth and 2 larger holes for the eyes, each complete with tinted glass covering.
Those 2 eye holes bore into me; I couldn’t move while he stood there looking at me as I was further backed into a corner, the human blocking both exists. “Sorry that I’m late, the bus had to take a detour due to an accident. I’m Maarten, I’m going to orient you into your new job,” it said with a low grumbling voice, while I stood flabbergasted from what he just said.
“Y-you must be mistaken sir, this is the Orangery, we serve salads. I work for Gilt,” I said, pulling all my courage together to get this predator out of the restaurant.
“I know. Gilt is my business partner, we both own this restaurant. Er, well he’s the one who signed the lease contract, but still.” He stood still for a moment, presumably thinking, but I couldn’t read any emotion from him. Without a tail or ear movement, and the mask obstructed any facial expression the human could possibly make. “Wait, let me guess, Gilt never told you that you would be working with or for a human?”
I gave an ear flick that signed ‘no.’ In return, Maarten dragged a hand over his mask and let out a drawn out sigh.
“Of course he didn’t. Takke was it, right? Could you please hand me my apron? So I can get started on showing you the ropes.” I began to undo the strap on the back as fast as I could, not wanting to be seen as stealing the fake pelt of a predator. “I can’t believe someone from the cooking store at the refugee centre had ordered a bunch of aprons saying ‘Bite the cook.’” At that, he began making a barking noise that my translator told me was laughter. I hastily took off the apron and threw it on the ground like it was on fire. I cursed myself for possibly angering him. He simply grabbed the apron off the ground and took a good look at my name tag that was still attached to the apron. His emotionless mask stared at it for a few moments. “T...A…K? Is that correct?”
“Y-yes, that is what everyone calls me. How did you read that? Almost no one but venlil can read Venlilian.”
“I have been here for months, of course I picked some up. Having to use a visual translator for everything is getting…tiring. Anyway-“ He walked over to a cabinet that hung low enough for him to look onto it with ease and grabbed a venlil-sized apron. “-This one is yours,” he said as he threw it directly into my paws.
“I bought a cookbook and a whole ton of Earth vegetables, that way we can be the only restaurant in town that serves human food. Well, there was this food truck selling burritos, but still. And don’t worry, the salads won’t contain any predatory stuff, that’s illegal. That means, no: meat, milk, cheese [pasteurized milk], honey [insect puke], eggs, or mayonnaise [condiment made from eggs].” I was bewildered by how casually Maarten summed up a list of the most grotesque things one could eat like it was the most normal thing in the world, and unfortunately my translator did its work perfectly in explaining what each item was. I know humans call themselves omnivores, but I didn’t think they meant it this literally. “Actually, I’m not sure if honey is illegal, I have to look that up.”
“I…I thought humans didn’t eat animals any more and only ate lab grown flesh.”
“Only the rich still do. Oh, you mean the eggs and mayonnaise. Don’t worry, the translator messes up on that one.” Oh good, it’s some fake lab-grown eggs like their flesh-food. Maarten leaned against the freezer as he leafed through the cookbook, as he nonchalantly spoke, “The eggs are not fertilized, so their’s no baby bird inside.” What?!
“How can you even tell that they’re unfertilized? And how do you get to the eggs in the first place, do you just grab them out of a nest?” I was getting a bit shaken by the sudden reveal. The humans on television were always portrayed as extremely kind-hearted beings that would never hurt another creature. We were constantly told that they had overcome their predatory nature, and now this one is telling me they still eat other animals eggs like it was nothing. And what was that about drinking milk? From who? Their own? Or is it from cattle? VENLIL?
“No, it’s not like we go hunting for them, we just keep this bird called chicken [nearly flightless predator bird] that we keep as livestock [cattle], they lay eggs when we give them a lot of food.” I’m going to faint, what next, humans actually do want to keep us as cattle? I began supporting myself on the counter to stabilize myself a bit. “Hey, are you alright? Shit, I told you too much, didn’t I?”
“No, I’m fine, that was just a lot to progress,” I half-heartily lied.
“I suppose I treated you too much like a human,” he says with a deep sigh. “If it makes you feel any better, I have not eaten any of those ‘predatory’ foods since I arrived here on Skalga, not even meat. How about this, we’re just going to cook, no more talking about predatory stuff. It’s just you, me, a bunch of vegetables, fruits and knives,” he said, finishing off with an awkward cough.
[Fast-forwarding by 5 hours]
“-the krakotl exterminator kept trying to fly high enough to reach the feline predator, but she kept failing due to the high gravity. Her venlil partner kept telling her to get a ladder, but that only angered her even more,” I said with a hardy laugh. Maarten joined in, his barking laugh sparked only a little fear. His canines were fully exposed too, as I had asked him to take off his mask since it had prevented me from reading any of his emotions. I’m starting to understand those human sympathizers, they’re big and scary looking with their predatory looks and behaviour, but they’re clearly people.
“They’re exterminators, why didn’t they just burn the tree down?”
“Not only was that some holy tree from a group of gojid’s who worship the protector, but they also have new rules. According to that venlil exterminator, they’re no longer allowed to burn human pets. Instead, they have to catch them and bring them back!”
“Bloody [blood covered] hell [punishment afterlife], they’ve turned into some shitty version of animal control.” Maarten’s stomach growled, which startled me for a moment. “I could eat a horse [large prey, grazer]. How about you, shall we eat some of this stuff?” I wish he would stop saying stuff like that.
I grabbed one of the many bowls of salad we had made. The one I choose was one made with a strange yellow scaled fruit called a pineapple. The recipes were in the most part fairly simple, although some things had a finesse to it that I still had to practice. On top of that was remembering the exact combinations and how to make the dressing and the ‘vegan’ mayonnaise. Good thing that Maarten leaves the recipe book here for me to use, even if I have to use a visual translator to read it.
I placed my bowl down at one of the many tables when I saw a piece of paper sticking out of the front door. Someone had slotted it in from outside, and it was now jammed in-between the doorframe and the door itself. Looking closer, it was made from the same paper as they make flyers, and the same size too, however, what was on it was anything but advertising.
It was a collage of photos. All of them had humans on them posing for the camera, most of which held a gun of some sort. What was more shocking was what else was on the photos. Several animals, but all dead, save for the few canine predators sitting besides their owner. I did not recognize the animals, but what was disturbing was that they more often than not looked like people from the Federation. One looked like a male Sulean with a brown fur instead of black and white, and another as well like a sulean but without the antlers. The third looked like a small sivkit, and another photo had a species that looks like a mazic with massive tusks.
I trembled in horror as to what I was seeing, when suddenly it was snatched out of my paws by Maarten as he came up from behind, looming over me. He crumbled the paper up while he grumbled something about Humanity First messing up relations. He was about to throw it into the trash as he suddenly changed his mind and instead stuffed it into his pocket. I didn’t know anymore if I wanted to work for a human. Then again, where else was I going to work?

Are there really people who can instantly access enough metadata about their thoughts to produce an orderly, priority-ranked task list without having to "dump out the whole drawer" to sort through and analyze first? It feels like I'm expected to be able to do this and I simply cannot, every linear list I write is so infinitely generative that eventually either it just becomes an inefficiently formatted mind map anyway, or I have to cut it off at an arbitrary point so I don't exhaust myself and the whole day on it. Every item generates so many branches, connections, conceptual themes, random notions, and conditionals that it really feels like in order to answer a seemingly simple question like "what chores should I get done today?" or "where should I hang this art?" I have to first perform a detailed system-wide analysis of every discreet piece of information or acknowledged hypothetical that's existing as one congealed simultaneously experienced amorphous mass of thought in my head at all times. My brain is overwhelmed with data about things I know and things I don't know and things I might know and the infinity of different options and possibilities and strategic combinations. Functionally this means my focus is on none of it, on some random part of it, or on the general feeling of AAAAAAAAAA. You know me, maybe you are me, I am absolutely the person who spends 10 hours picking "the right" dehumidifier and also forgets to pay the water bill for 7 months.
This photo does not represent anything close to a "complete" to-do list, I just stopped when I filled the page lol. I feel so alienated by organizational advice that assumes producing the priority-ordered list in the first place is just a quick guide to remind you or keep you focused rather than a massive undertaking in its own right. I always have to remind myself that the first item on my list really has to be "make the list" hahaha, especially when I'm inevitably disappointed with the amount of concrete progress I've made on things. I guess it's a bottom-up processing thing, it comes much more naturally to me to order all the chaos in my brain at once than try to just scan it and pluck out what's important (but good lord it's a lot of work). I think it's similar to the way I write essays; I would have to absolutely flood the page with words and then organize and edit and re-organize and re-edit them before I could ever write an outline. I can work within someone else's assigned outline but if I'm trying to structure my own argument writing an outline first makes no temporal sense to me at all and I would feel frustratingly limited by it. Naturally I wish I had known all of this about myself much younger!
As with all such brain things it's very interesting and confusing to feel like so many other people have what looks like an executive planning superpower to me, one that's so widely assumed to be default that I barely even have the language to discuss my deviance, while at the same time I find a lot of the coveted analytical connections and hypotheticals that seem to elude those same people so obvious as to barely be worth mentioning. It seems like we should be living symbiotically with these different brains. It's frustrating and disabling that we mostly don't. The fact that I live full-time in the analysis is of no use to anyone if I'm constantly stuck at the "figuring out how to feed myself" stage of project management.
Anyway I'll say I have gotten some benefit from just dumping stuff out as a big free-form mind map on the biggest piece of paper I can find, in whatever order it happens to come out, and then sorting through it after, if any of you also hates writing to-do lists.

Red Dog's small apartment was filled with the acrid scent of chemicals as he guided Sad Boy and Jose through the process of transforming cocaine into crack. With practiced hands, he demonstrated each step, from mixing the cocaine with baking soda to cooking it over a flame until it formed into hard crystals.
As the crack cooled and solidified, Red Dog showed them how to break it into smaller pieces and package it into tiny sacks for sale on the streets. Sad Boy and Jose watched intently, their minds racing with the possibilities of the lucrative business they were about to enter.
Once the crack was bagged up and ready to go, Red Dog sent them out into the night to peddle their wares to the local dope fiends. The streets were alive with activity, the neon lights casting eerie shadows as Sad Boy and Jose made their way through the dimly lit alleys.
But their first night on the job didn't go as smoothly as they had hoped. As they approached a rundown corner, a homeless man emerged from the darkness, his eyes gleaming with hunger as he eyed their stash of crack.
With a swift motion, he lunged forward, his hand reaching for the sacks of drugs. But Sad Boy and Jose were ready, their instincts honed by years of survival on the streets. With a quick combination of punches and kicks, they fought off their would-be robber, leaving him sprawled on the ground in defeat.
Breathing heavily, Sad Boy and Jose surveyed the scene, adrenaline coursing through their veins as they realized they had narrowly avoided disaster. With a sense of triumph, they continued on their way, their pockets filled with cash and their heads held high.
As the night wore on, they sold out of their supply, their pockets bulging with the fruits of their labor. With each sale, they felt a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that they were making their mark on the streets and earning their place in the world of the gang.
But as they made their way back to Red Dog's apartment, the events of the night weighed heavily on their minds. They had tasted the thrill of success, but they also knew that the dangers of their new life were far from over. With each step, they vowed to stay vigilant and never let their guard down, for in the unforgiving world of the streets, only the strong survived.

2024.05.31 05:24 MidnightNo9051 Second day at work (dishwasher at a retirement home) and I had to close (somewhat) by myself.

Not like training was adequate and I technically was never told I was closing alone until well after my manager had left today, but I overheard it yesterday.
1: I am glad that this isn't my first rodeo otherwise I'd be a little more pissed. 2: It is also my Friday, so again, not as pissed as I could be. 3: the Chef that me close was fucking stellar, super huge shout out to him for getting the remaining dishes I prepped put away and all of the cook ware done. Like, dude got most all of it done and put away in 20 minutes while I closed down our second kitchen.
I'm convinced American employment systems are rigged to fail. I don't understand how anyone in a management position (especially with a high turnover) doesn't just go to the higher ups and demand better pay for the one job that is the most physical and time sensitive.

Hey! Not sure if this is the best subreddit for this, but I was hoping to get some ideas ASAP. Apologies for how messy this is. It's my first reddit post and I'm not really familiar with how I should lay stuff out.
In May of last year, I sublet out one of the bedrooms for an apartment I started a lease for at the beginning of the year. The apartment was $940 for a 2 bedroom 1 bath (although not the best maintained and not cleaned before I moved in). I decided to sublet out one of the bedrooms for $300 a month, with a 50/50 split on utilities. My landlord said the sublet was fine and also that I didn't need to add them to the lease (because she didn't want to do the paperwork which is a red flag, i know).
At the time, I thought this would be perfect. To me, $300 for a bedroom would be a steal and it's the kind of thing I would personally appreciate since I'm not exactly well off myself. My reasoning ont hat cost split was because a lot of my hobbies and stuff are in the living room so, I figured I was basically getting 2/3s of the apartment. So I got a roommate and laid out a handful of conditions
My only conditions at the time were 1) If you're going to be late on rent, let me know at least a week in advance so I'm not blindsided. 2) Guests are fine, but I'm not comfortable with a third person living here and let me know if someone is coming over. 3) If you think there is a quality of living issue, let me know. I get caught up in my own head a lot and don't recognize obvious stuff sometimes. 4) If you're wanting to use something of mine, ask. 5) My cat is nosy. Close your door to keep her out of your room and do not let her out or hurt her (I've found I do have to at least say this, unfortunately)
At this point, a year later, these rules were consistently broken. a couple times last year they waited until 2 days before rent was due to let me know. These past several months, they've consistently waited until only hours are left before rent is due before shooting me a matter of fact text that they are going to be late. They only partially paid for April's rent, did the same last minute notice thing for May, and despite saying their next payment would be for the remainder of April as well, they only tacked on $18, so they're still a quarter short and have not stated any intentions of the rest of it being paid. Towards the end of April, I took a risk of buying my first board game because some friends have gotten me interested in the hobby and I wanted to contribute a game of my own to our game nights, being given 9 hours notice that rent was going to be late (from their new number, they had it changed without giving me a heads up). In a panic because I had already been given warnings from times before about being late, I ended up selling the board game for quick cash on marketplace since I wouldn't be able to process a return quickly enough and only got half its value back.
The first couple times, they brought someone over they let me know. However, they started bringing girls over on average six nights a week to stay the night. I said something early on but I ended up rolling over not wanting to cause a fuss and essentially, they've rotated several dozen girlfriends through the apartment as they cheat and mess around on them. Frequently they come knocking on the door saying they were given permission to stay over, were given the key, and the roommate just never came back and I'm sitting in my living room with a stranger I don't know sleeping in my apartment.
The only time in the past 11 months I've gotten any notice of a guest was them saying their family was stopping by and asked if they could stay for a short time. I asked how long that would be and they said it was only an hour, but also that they were already on their way and already had the key. This hour ended up being nearly 2 days and a little girl who was brought with them ended up being unsupervised for several hours while (I'm assuming) her mom took a nap and I basically had to put off something I had planned to do babysitting because this girl kept trying to chase after and hit my cat or climb on furniture (TV included),
Towards the end of last year, I got a contracted work from home job, maybe the best paying one I've ever had, that involved me taking phone calls for pharmacy related work. A stipulation of this was that my workspace needed to be private due to HIPAA concerns. I communicated this to my roommate who worked the day shift and they agreed to not make any kind of disturbance in the apartment til my shift was over, which already lined up with their work schedule at the time. However, early on in my time at this job while on a teams webcam meeting with my supervisor, I was appalled to see a complete stranger in the background of my camera. It ended up being one of the girls they were dating and my supervisor could clearly see. I had no idea there was someone still in the apartment. She had apparently been given license to hang out there as long as she wanted. I ended up being suspended without pay for a month due to this. Ultimately, this situation was also held against me when they were determining who to keep on full time and they ended up terminating my contract several months later.
One time I got back to a random girl I don't know coming out of our shared bathroom, and when I went to use it, noticed streak marks all over the bowl. The toilet cleaning supplies I had bought previously were gone so I ended up rush ordering new supplies for a delivery. While I was waiting, the roommate came back and went into the bathroom for a while. When they came out, they left shortly after. They had cleaned the streak marks by taking one of my face towels and using it to wipe up the marks inside the toilet and slap the feces covered rag on the bathroom counter and left.
There have been a dozen occasions where I've found my cat locked outside of the apartment (she is not an outdoor cat, the area is next to roads and is unsafe for indoor cats). From what I'm able to gather, they tend to not close the door all the way and the girls they bring around often just leave the door hanging straight open, so my cat just wanders out and is then shut outside until I get back.
This brings me to tonight where I find my shower curtain has just been tossed out with no comment or heads up. They hung up their own replacement, and I know it's an insignificant thing but I think it was my proverbial straw. Just another thing of mine that was thrown out or ruined without telling me. I've been working overtime.
The only reason I made the decision to commit to this apartment despite it being out of my realistic budget range was because I wanted to sublet out a room to someone who might really need a cheap place to stay until they can get themselves in a better spot. Without going into details, this is the second roommate I've had, the first one only paid for a month out of the 3 they stayed and I finally worked myself up to removing them.
I think if they pulls the last, second late rent thing again, I will let them know I'm kicking them out, especially since they never even bothered to communicate what's going on with the existing rent they still haven't paid. However, my concern is twofold.
The roommate I tried before this ended up stealing a lot of my stuff when he moved out. All of my silverware, most of my cooking ware, and several other items went missing which really upset me as the only reason I was able to get some of the stolen stuff was through gifts I had received from friends. Since this current roommate has no qualms with throwing out some of my stuff or literally using my stuff to clean up literal shit, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned of a repeat instance. This is compounded with the fact that their house key is being passed around to people I don't know.
Additionally, and I hate to be like this, but I need to consider turnaround time. I can't really sustain this apartment on my income long term. Currently I'm taking out a fair amount of overtime these past couple weeks in preparation for the rent to be late so I won't be blindsided with costs I can't readily pay. Ideally, The work is fairly taxing and I know my constitution can't hold out on this very long (also I've been stress grinding my teeth and ended up cracking a wisdom tooth and that's not going to be cheap to pull). What is the appropriate timetable to use to give them time to move out. Reiterating, they are not on the lease and are not paid up through May, so they are already behind. Also this is in Indiana since i think state can matter on this (should this be in legal advice)?
Side note, I am aware they are looking for another place to stay already. This is not because they told me. One of their previous girlfriends came by with some other dude to beat up my roommate since they were cheating on the girlfriend. However, since the roommate was out picking up other girls and probably wouldn't be back for a while, the girlfriend instead showed me a profile on one of those room/roommate finding services. To be honest, I'm not really sure why she did this, but it's not like the roommate isn't trying to exit already, but I have no idea when they will actually find what they are looking for considering they want a room situation that's even cheaper than $300
Any well-intentioned advice would be appreciated.

Hi fellow DMs,
Hope you are all doing well.
So I've been seeing some valid critique that a adventure about Vecna is missing Vecna except for the beginning and the end. I sought to maybe address that by sprinkling in some random encounters, some window dressing if you will.
As Vecna's ritual reshapes the multiverse some of those new realities start to manifest across the different planes and worlds. These are small, mostly harmless effects, think of the strange things you might see under Far Realm effects. If you homebrew travel for your players into cities, towns, and villages they may start to see these manifest. I am going with a Vecna 777 rework so I am expecting that my players will at least stop in some of these locations at least for a little. Some of these work especially well if you present them in communities that the players are familiar with or been to before in prior adventures e.g. Phandalin, Waterdeep, Neverwinter, Sharn, etc. I included some options if the players are in a setting that doesn't normally include Vecna so the locals have no context who he is. If you have any ideas or feedback please share!

  1. Your party travels through a town square and you do a double take, the statue of the village/town/city founder has been replaced by a statue of Vecna looking regal and godlike. There is a group of locals who are wondering if this is some kind of joke. Upon closer investigation it appears as if the statue of Vecna has been here the whole time.
  2. You pass by a tall building and your eyes play a trick on you, on the side of this 20ft tall building you see a mural of Vecna looking victorious. You blink and the mural of Vecna is gone.
  3. You past by posters, bulletins, notices nailed to a wooden fence. Upon closer inspection several of the posters are stylised posters of Vecna that say "One God, One Universe, One Vecna". Upon inspection these posters seem to have always been here?
  4. You pass a local on the street wearing a "Vecna" T-Shirt for lack of better word. Upon confronting the person they immediately look down and are shocked they are wearing it. They have no idea how they ended up wearing it. Upon insight the local is telling the truth. They have no idea why they have this "Vecna" shirt or why they are wearing it.
  5. A preacher with one missing hand and one missing eye shouts into the street "All is Vecna! Vecna is All!"
  6. A small group of protesters (all commoners) has amassed by a government building and are chanting "Vecna is our God! We do not recognize your authority! Give us Vecna!" A guard detachment is watching closely but not interfering. Upon closer inference you learn that these people have no idea who Vecna is, they just felt instinctually shouting his name was as natural as breathing.
  7. A large group of protesters (all commoners) are hurling rocks, rotten food, and eventually alchemist fire at the side of a government building shouting "VECNA IS OUR ONE GOD! DEATH TO THE FALSE RULERS! DEATH TO FALSE IDOLS! DEATH TO ALL!" A platoon of local guards rush into the crowd and disperses/subdues them with clubs. Upon speaking with the protesters you learn that they again have no idea who this Vecna is. They just felt they had to tear down the establish. They think they are going crazy.
  8. A town crier is giving news about local events, sporting results, weather and then suddenly starts sprouting Pro-Vecna slogans like "We are all ants to our god Vecna! Your government lies! Only Vecna tells you the truth!" Two guards immediately tackle the crier as one of them says "this is the third one this week".
  9. You pass by a portrait that you know normally is suppose to be of a local noblewoman in a pink dress holding sunflowers and smiling. Instead it is a portrait of Vecna in a pink dress holding sunflowers. Sometimes changing the whole multiverse has a couple kinks in it.
  10. You pass by a giftshop that sells Vecna merchandise. All the stuff cost no more then 1gp each. It includes Vecna keychains, Vecna mini-portraits. Vecna action figures, Vecna salt and pepper shaker set, Vecna chessboards where all the pieces are Vecna, Vecna labelled clothing, Vecna garden gnomes, Vecna shaped pastries, and Vecna get well soon cards. The store owner just had a vivid dream about this guy last month being really important and wanted to get ahead on the competition by selling his merchandise, they have no idea that Vecna is suppose to be evil. If advise about Vecna truth they will shrug their shoulders and continue to sell their wares.
  11. (Content warning for the next one) A person on the street boldly proclaims their devotion to Vecna by saying "I give my eye to Vecna! To honour my new god!" and attempt to poke out their eye. If the player characters don't interfere a local or a passing guard might jump them and stop them. The person has no idea what they are doing, all of a sudden they had the thought that poking their eye out in honour of Vecna was the most logical thing to do right now.
  12. (maybe use this one later in the campaign if Vecna messes with the multiverse more and more) You hear a passing guard patrol saying to their colleague "Did you hear the new order from the captain? Anyone who shows any pro-Vecna sentient is to be immediately detained. We already detained a dozen yesterday. Our prisons will be overflowing. Most of them did nothing wrong"
  13. (again maybe later in the campaign) You overhear a passing patrol of guards say "Did you hear the new order from the captain? We are releasing all the detained Vecna supporters, even the violent ones. Then the captain shouted that he loves Vecna. I think I need to find a new job"
  14. You see a banners of the town/city/faction/ nation flag blow in the wind, the wind changes and instead of the local colours you see a red hand holding an eye on a black background, the colours of Vecna.
  15. You pass by a temple for a "insert deity that fits that particular setting". The priests of the temple are outside panicked. All the statues, mural, artwork, etc that is suppose to depict that temple's deity are all now Vecna. Vecna multiverse is replacing the gods within their own temples.
  16. (maybe this one if good if your characters are making progress against Vecna or inspiring the local population) You pass a square where a dozen brand new Vecna statues have appeared. Other Vecna statues are being dragged from across the town/city. The crowd has gathered and they have axes, clubs, hammers, etc. You see a local artist stand on a soap box with a crowbar and say "I don't know who this Vecna person is but his statues are an affront to good taste! And freedom of thought! Join me friends! Lets smash these statues!" The crowd proceeds to beat up Vecna statues.
  17. You are pursuing books in a bookstore or library. A bookshelf labelled "Non-Fiction" has all the books replaced with red books with gold trim with such titles as "Teachings of Vecna", "Visions of Vecna", "Love of Vecna", "Cooking with Vecna". The titles are pure propaganda but the cook book is especially atrocious. You recall Liches don't need to eat food.
  18. As you are traveling the countryside you see a 20ft tall Statue of Vecna appear on the side of the road. It was not there before.
  19. You are travelling in a crowd of locals. They all suddenly stop. Hold up their left hand above their head and chant "Vecna. Vecna, Vecna, Vecna. Vecna" for the next minute. Afterwards they continue on their day as if nothing happened.
  20. You see one building has been replaced with a 200ft tall statue of Vecna. It was definitely not there before. The interior is the same as it was before it became a Vecna statue and the occupants are completely unaware.

We all just stare at it for a while, waiting to see what it does. The first person to make a move is Wabbajack, inching his way closer towards it. As he gets close, he pokes it. As he does, I could swear it makes a squeaking sound.
He gasps as he picks it up. At that moment, I notice that the tail stays close to the ball of fluff, kinda flying around it. Maybe it has a set distance? He then proceeds to squeeze it a couple more times as it squeaks. “This is amazing!” He yells, squeezing it some more.
Eventually, it spins around to face him. It opens its mouth and out comes a tongue flying out like a frog and connects to Wabbajacks face. The rest of the body then comes flying towards his head as it bites his head, knocking over Wabbajacks hat.
I hear a muffled, “Aww. I was having fun. Oh well, got to admit though, it’s feisty.”
“It seems to be a Umoya Vulpes Uhane.” I hear to my right. I turn to see Mogsten looking into a book. “Fascinating! This seems to be the only other time that there has Ever been a recorded sighting of one. There is almost next to no information on its capabilities here.” He adds. He then slams the book shut as he exclaims, “I’ll pay whatever you want for him!”
I then hear more muffled noises say, “Wow! This guy must be really rare for Mogsten to offer anything. Still, first, Lily, how do you feel?”
I look back at the ball of leathery fur that has Wabbajack’s head in its mouth. I feel… something. I put my finger to my chin as I say, “I don’t quite know what I feel right now honestly.”
Wabbajack continues to try and speak as he says muffled again, “Well, familiars are rare, and the experience is different from person to person. Just don’t try to rush it and things should make sense I imagine. What do you want to name this fella?”
I don’t know honestly. But, first things first, “Could you get it off your head now? It’s hard to hear what your saying.” I say.
“Wait, Wabbajack has been talking?” Mogsten asks.
“Well, yeah. Haven’t you heard him?” I ask.
Mogsten looks at me funny and then back at the ball of fur. He then walks over to it and kicks Wabbajacks foot out from underneath him, knocking him down on his back. He then goes up to the fox ball and whispers into its ear. For some reason, as clear as day, I hear, “Can you hear me whispering Lily? Nod if you do.”
So, I nod.
“Fascinating!” He says. He then snaps his fingers as Gourdsten hands him a notepad and a pen. As soon as they are in his hands, he starts writing down some stuff. He stops to look at the fox ball and holds up the notepad to it. “Anything?” he asks.
“What?” I yell back.
He then shrugs and goes back to writing notes.
“Can I get back up now?” Wabbajack says, still muffled.
I rub my temple, wishing that the fox ball would just get off his head.
Just as I think that, it hops off and starts to walk towards me. Well, waddle may be a more accurate word. Or, whatever it is called for how gators walk. It then stops in front of me and tilts its head. Its tail then connects to the body and, as it does, the body stretches out, taking a noodle like shape. It then flies up and wraps its body around my neck! It yawns, and I think I hear it snore. Funny, like it is now, it’s kinda like a scarf. Although the breathing I feel from it adds to the soothing effect as well.
“Spectacular!” I hear Mogsten exclaim. I look towards him to see him fervently taking notes. I also happen to see Wabbajack had gotten back up, put his hat back on, and was walking over here as well.
“I’m amazed. It looks like this was a success.” Wabbajack says.
“Of course! Who do you think I am? Some amateur?” Mogsten says, not taking his eyes off my living scarf.
Regardless, the leather belly provides a good grip while the fur is Extremely soft. I could see myself falling asleep as well if I wasn’t busy trying to process everything right now.
“Welp, it all worked out. You got a familiar and Mogsten is one of the few who successfully summoned it.” Wabbajack points out.
Mogsten shoots up as he realizes it too as he says, “Yes. YES! I DID! People will come from everywhere to see my wares and request my talent!” He then starts dancing along with Gourdsten.
“Although, you’ll have to up security if people keep requesting familiars.” Wabbajack mentions.
The dance slowly comes to a stop as that fact sinks in and Mogsten says, “Blast.” He then snaps his fingers as he says, “I can provide a questionnaire and a test, that people will have to pay for as well! Oh hohohohoho!” He laughs as he starts dancing again.
Wabbajack just shrugs and turns back to me. He asks, “Well, introduced you to about most of the important places that are around here, all that is left would be the furniture then. Unless there is anything else you can think of?”
As I start petting my living scarf, I try to think really hard if there is anything else I need to know. We got equipment, some magic books for me to study, my mark of sentience, a familiar, had a fight or two with Wabbajack, and met his family. I shrug and say, “No, I actually think that was it.”
He wipes his forehead as he says, “Thank goodness. I can’t tell you how crazy today has been.”
I can’t help but let out a chuckle as I say, “You think it’s been crazy for you? It’s been one new concept after another for me.”
He looks at me, chuckles, and says, “Fair enough. I almost forgot that All this must be new to you.” I had just gotten changed back when he then walks to the flap leading to the front as he says, “Well then, shall we get some furnishing?”
I nod and quickly chase after him. As we exit the store, I decide to ask Wabbajack some more questions as we peruse the bazaar for any good furniture being sold. I ask him an important question, at least to me anyways, “Why do you do this job? With your talents and skills, you could do whatever. And don’t try to sell me on that Monster of Monsters thing. Don’t you get tired of it?”
He stops, sighs, and tilts his hat down as he explains, “Well, if you really intend on traveling with me, then I guess you’ll have to know sooner or later. Let me ask You a question first however. Do you think nothing good could come from death?”
I look down as I answer, “Well, I mean, there is always another way, right?”
He responds with, “True, but I have learned why being a hero is as disastrous as the destruction they prevent. If I had to guess, Silkie probably told you about That, right?”
I quickly try to look away but realize, I immediately sold myself out.
“I thought so.” He says. He then follows up with, “There was a reason for that. There was a warlike nation growing in power. The reason for that is that none of the other nations were taking it seriously, so they pillaged and plundered as much as they like. Now, what is the best way to convince a nation’s leader that an “insignificant” threat is an actual one without them laughing at you?”
I look up and try to consider.
Before I can however, he continues, “I played the part of the nation about to destroy everything, and…assassinated… that infant. When the king and queen discovered their child killed by, what reports believed was one of those “barbarians”, they then took the threat Very seriously. They beefed up security and their guard. When the nation was invaded, instead of being wiped out, they defended themselves and crushed the opposition. I admit, it haunts me most nights. The crying, the sadness, then the stifling quiet. I hated it. But, they didn’t have the time for me to convince them conventionally. That is why I do these things, so others don’t have to. If they were defeated, then the warlike nation would have just steamrolled over everyone else. Now, tell me, what happens when a culture developed entirely around killing others runs out of things to kill?”
I ask him this time, “Is this a rhetorical question or do you want me to answer it this time?”
He shrugs and says, “Only if you want to try.”
I sigh and start thinking about it. “If a culture based on war ran out of people to fight… then they would try to look to improving their lives, right?”
He pats my head as he says, “You’re a genuinely good person. If that was how it worked, I would hopefully be out of a job. No, unfortunately. Nine point nine times out of ten, they just start killing each other. Point zero five percent scenario that they manage to start invading other dimensions. And the last of it, would hopefully improve their lot.”
“That’s so sad.” I mention.
“Welp, that is why I am around, I imagine. I wish I could save everyone but then, it becomes a cycle of dependency. If they can’t manage to take care of themselves, then when the rock holding it all up disappears, then things just go back to being as bad as they were before. Sometimes it winds up being worse than before. So, while I am impressed of true-blue heroes, I don’t envy them. That’s why I take orders from my boss. He promised me that, if I listen to him, he could help me protect entire dimensions. And the best options are sometimes the darkest ones. And who better to wander the darkness than someone who just about everyone hates already?” he asks while pointing to himself.
While he says that cheerfully, I swear I could sense a sadness to it as well. As I think that, my familiar floats over to Wabbajack and starts licking his face.
“He-e-ey. Easy there. Didn’t think I was that tasty.” He says as he tries to wave it off.
“Wolfie! Stop it!” I say without thinking.
It looks back, tilts its head, and floats back to being around my neck.
“Wolfie?” Wabbajack asks.
“Yeah… I guess. I guess that is what I decided to name it.” I say as I pet its fur.
I hear him chuckle. I respond with, “What?”
“Nothing.” He answers. He then waves forward as he asks, “Well then, shall we continue?”
I smile and walk forward. I then see him catch up immediately. When he does, Wolfie then starts wagging her tail, I think.
“What’s he so excited about?” Wabbajack asks.
“She. And I’m not sure.” I respond. I have a suspicion but, there are still too many variables to answer before I can start providing answers.
Wabbajack puts both his hands up defensively as he says, “My bad.
Sorry.”
“It’s fine.” I tell him.
We finally reached the bazaar and start looking around. As I am looking around, Wabbajack smacks my back and says, “That guy looks promising.”
I look over in the direction that he points, and I see a turtle person wearing some very poofy-looking robes, puffing smoke from a long oboe-looking pipe. Behind him, is some sort of tube-like machine. Wabbajack walks over to him, so I follow shortly after him.
As soon as he goes up to him, Wabbajack asks, “Excuse me good sir, what would you be selling here?”
There is a pause, he then lets out some smoke, and finally says, “Nothing.”
“Nothing?” I ask.
Another pause and he responds with, “Yep.” He then let’s out some more smoke.
“But then, what is this stall here then?” I ask.
As there is Another pause, I realize that this must be their shtick. He then answers with, “Fabrication.”
“Fabrication? You actually got a permit for that?” Wabbajack asks.
One pause later, he answers, “Yep.”
I look to Wabbajack and ask, “What is Fabrication and, why is it such a big deal?”
“Fabrication is a SUPER advanced form of blacksmithy. As long as you have the materials, you can determine what gets crafted, how it gets crafted, and what it looks like. The only catch is that it depends on the materials. Don’t expect to get golden bricks from grass. That requires rewriting at the genetic level, which you would have to be a master alchemist for that. Even I don’t have the means for fabrication. Although, the alchemy stuff can be pretty fun once you get past all that boring stuff. Not to mention profitable.” Wabbajack explains.
“Wait. You can’t do Fabrication?!” I ask in astonishment.
“Well, I could if I had the materials and patience for it. The time it takes to be permitted to fabricate Anything takes an unrealistic amount of time. I made it about halfway through before even I lost my patience.” Wabbajack answers.
“Why did you stop halfway?” I ask.
“Staying in a classroom for half a millennium alone, being told the yes and no’s of fabrication tends to make a lot of people go mad.” He continues to explain.
Before I can express my disbelief, we hear a very slow laugh, followed by, “Wimp.” I look over to the turtle man in time for him to blow some more smoke.
“You got me their old timer.” I hear Wabbajack say.
“Wait, why does it take so long?” I ask.
“Fabrication is a very meticulous process. Possibly the most meticulous. Not to mention, as I am sure you can imagine, it would be Very profitable for whomever can pull it off. It’s one of the most closely watched professions in all of Spiritopia. Not to mention, if someone of dubious morality decided to fabricate items, chances are that a LOT of bad things would come of it. You have to really have to be discerning when you break into the business. But, if you manage to pull it off, you are held in VERY high regards. Almost untouchable.” Wabbajack explains.
I then hear another, “Yep.” And another puff of smoke.
I then look at the turtle man and ask, “Does that mean you could make us some furniture?”
There is a pause as he looks me up and down. After a while, he says, “Nope.”
I am shocked. I ask, “Why not?”
Pause, puff, and says, “Inexperienced.”
I tilt my head down as I say dejectedly, “Oh, I see.” Wolfie also lets out a sad “hmmm”
Wabbajack then asks himself, “What about me?”
He then looks him up and down as well. This time, he scratches his chin. After a while longer, he says, “Yep. But I’ll charge you more than usual.”
Before I can exclaim my disapproval, Wabbajack says, “Deal!”
As I look to him aggravated, I then hear the turtle man say, “What would you like?”
Wabbajack looks to me as he asks, “What would you like? I imagine some drawers with a vanity mirror, a better bed, some sort of entertainment, maybe even a closet?”
I exclaim, “Wait just one minute! Why would you willingly pay more than normal?”
“Like I said, it’s a profession held in high regard.” Wabbajack explains.
“That.” As the turtle man starts to say something as well. “That and your reputation as Mr. Happy. But, I do like to make my own judgements as well.” He continues as he then lets out another puff.
“There you go.” Wabbajack says, pointing towards the turtle man.
I sigh and say, “Still strikes me as unfair.”
The turtle man laughs again as he says, “Inexperienced.”
Wolfie lets out a growl.
“Easy now, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Let’s not get upset over the finer details.” Wabbajack responds with.
I let out another sigh as I say, “Alright, fine. All the things you mentioned sound good.” I then puff my face.
Wabbajack then lets out a laugh as he says, “Alright. Don’t worry, if you don’t like something about it, we could always come back and change it now that we know someone who can fabricate stuff.”
He then looks at the turtle man as he asks, “Before we talk business, may we exchange names? My name is Wabbajack.” He then puts his hat to his chest and offers a small bow.
Pause, puff, and he says, “Polite. My name is… hold on. Been a while.” He then scratches his chin. He then goes, “Oh! That’s right. Thomas is my name.”
“That’s a good name.” Wabbajack says.
“Flattery won’t lower the price lad.” Thomas says.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Wabbajack responds.
I then put my finger to my chin as I think and start seriously thinking about what I want my room to look like. I honestly want to start pumping ideas but, as I think about it, I don’t really know what I want everything to look like, let alone what it would look like together. Especially since it has become very apparent that my level of fashion sense is not quite up to snuff as I once thought it was.
As I am thinking all this, I hear a meat-ripping noise that snaps me back into reality. I look towards the sound and I see that Wabbajack had ripped his arm off at the shoulder and is now holding it towards Thomas. I naturally let out a scream.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!” I yell.
They both look at me and Wabbajack asks, as nonchalantly as ever, “What’s up?”
““What’s up?” You RIPPED your ARM OFF!” I point out.
He looks at the arm he’s holding out and points at it with the arm that he Should be missing as he asks, “This arm?”
I look back and forth and the realization must have been obvious as he then asks, “You forgot about me being able to regenerate, didn’t you?”
I blush as I say, “Yeah…”. I snap out of my embarrassment as I think to ask, “But, doesn’t that still hurt?”
He just shrugs as he asks, “Yeah, why wouldn’t it?”
“Why did you rip your arm off then?” I ask in response.
“Because, we will just simply come back when you understand what would work best for you want for your own room and style. But, for now, this would be the perfect opportunity to give you a device to access the same font of information I have access to And a means of travel if we ever get separated somehow.” He explains as Thomas takes his torn arm and examines it.
Before I can say anything else, we hear, “Five currency…”
Five currency? Just five or five million? It couldn’t be so cheap after he said he would charge more than normal, right?
Just as I think that, Wabbajack says, “Awesome, here you go.” As he hands him five of those matte dice.
“What happened to being more expensive?” I blurt out.
Thomas just shakes his head as he just says, “Inexperienced…” Again.
Wolfie lets out another small growl.
“Now, now. Calm down. Fabrication isn’t expensive by any means since the customer has to provide the materials themselves. So, Fabricators can’t honestly charge a lot since they aren’t doing a lot.” Wabbajack explains while Thomas throws the arm into his machine and starts hitting buttons.
“That makes sense” I think to myself.
Next thing I know, Thomas throws me this small calculator like device. I look down at it and, while it does have the shape of a calculator, the symbols on the buttons are fluctuating and where the screen is supposed to be is this oval like projector lens and on the front-facing side is this little bulb, like what you would see on a remote control.
The confusion on my face must have been apparent as Wabbajack says, “Don’t worry, just fiddle with it and sooner or later you’ll figure out how it works.” He then pats my shoulder.
He looks back over his shoulder and says “Thanks Thomas, we will definitely be coming back. Phenomenal work.” He then gives a thumbs up.
Thomas lets out a puff after giving us a smug smile.
Wolfie takes his scarf form and wraps around my neck as Wabbajack pulls me along by the arm, he asks, “So what next?”
I put the calculator to my head as I honestly try to process everything that’s happened. Not to mention all the studying and practice I have to do just to make everything feel normal. All I can think to say is, “Maybe… it would be best if we go back home?”
“Yeah, that sounds good honestly. It’s getting late and your body needs rest to process everything that’s happened. It must be… well, actually shoot. It IS a whole other world from what you are used to. Best to take it slow. Even though today hasn’t exactly gone smoothly. Yilimet should also be done with all his shopping as well.” He says, using air quotes around shopping.
I guess the air quotes are because Yilimet has been cooking for a household of people with no sense of taste for who knows how long now. As I let out an audible gulp loud enough to make Wabbajack laugh.
With how crazy today has been, I expected the walk back to that spot with the two guards to be even more eventful but, nothing. Everyone pretty much just kept their distance for the most part. I think most were also just heading home.
As we get there, I see Yilimet holding an unusual number of bags as he says, “Hey you two, you wouldn’t believe the news I heard! Someone managed to summon a familiar after all this time and it didn’t go on a murderous rampage. Crazy, right?”
“Crazy, sure. Let’s get home. I’m sure things are going to be a bit more interesting than usual from here on.” Wabbajack says as he cuts open a portal home.

Hello, this is a revere ware copper bottom pot, stainless steel. It was my Mom s from the early 50s. I’ve been using it on a gas stove to cook green beans. At times I’ve put it back on the burner when I’d forgotten to turn the burner off. I’ve noticed these spots that I can’t get off. Do you think the steel has peeled? Is it still safe to use? TIA

2024.05.27 21:29 noreopathy 21M mild cerebral palsy, growing up i mainly saw my disability as a physical one, as i grew older though i started to feel i had to also prove myself mentally/intellectually as well.

I feel I am mentally unstable because of the labels of me being “slow” or unattractive, my personal favorite being “drunk”, over the years I have became insecure in not just my own physical abilities but my mental capabilities & mental wareness as well. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so conscious of the world, so I couldn’t take in the negativity that comes at me. It is apparent that my past experiences have made me feel this sense of doubt in almost everything I do (tests at school, cooking, playing video games, approaching people in public). I will say that my Dad has never been much support when it came to my mental health and my condition (we buttheads a lot, he has a history of belittling me and selling me short.. I truly want him out of my life but that isn’t my decision right? What I’m trying to say is, I truly have not learned how to get over the fact that some people are cruel and will try to make me feel mentally incompetent because of my looks and my condition, maybe something else is wrong with me, who knows? I still haven’t accepted my own life and my existence either, it’s like ah okay, you have CP, you’re 21, now go live your “life” haha… Even though I’ve never been in a relationship or been at a decent job… I have very little confidence and a constant feeling of hinderance. I want to be able to live without so much fear and doubt, I’m tired of feeling ashamed. Any help? Tips?

If anyone is willing to give me a hand. Game works mostly fine, just that the message popups, CTD, no other issues... it's just that some books are blank... well, the first page is blank and I can't turn the page, but others aren't. Made me think Book 'Em might be the issue but then some message boxes suddenly pop up blank as well, and only the options bellow that I'd select are visible... Could that be Better Message box Controls or MCM ? My MCM menus are filled with proper words and all. but now my hands are gone... and funny enough, the pop-up asking me to enable survival mode had all the proper words in it... that one I forgot to screenshot

Just kidding, it’s a high carbon stainless steel pan, it’s a universal piece of cook ware. Do people really not know how to take care of good equipment and they have to reach out on the internet because they can’t do the research themselves? It’s annoying. The answer is No, you didn’t ruin your pan. Everytime. Stop asking. Ask Google. Clean it and maintain it.

2024.05.26 18:00 Drawcky Some games acting weird after getting computer fix and switching motherboards

About 2 weeks ago, my computer broke. It hit the wall while I was trying to fix a cable and supported myself on it while it was still on, I got a BOSD stuck on 0% for a couple of minutes, tried turning it on again and as you might guess, it didn't turn on.
(Background, skippable) The guys handling the repair said it was the motherboard that got cooked (They said its probably a bios issue), I decided to just buy a new motherboard since my Gen 3 i3 was starting to get pretty slow. They cleaned up the PC, installed the new motherboard and CPU and the PC got back perfectly fine. They even checked the SSD and HDD to see if there were any issues (Which there apparently weren't, but they did mention my SSD was worn out in some way). They did say the capacitors on my PSU were not looking great and that I should switch it up as soon as I possibly can, which I plan on doing so this week. They only said I could keep using the PC because the cables were delivering the correct Voltage, Current and by extension, Power, so the issue appeared to be small. I have not seen the state of the capacitors myself.
On the day I got it, it worked fantastically well, some League of Legends' files were corrupted but I played for a few hours after redownloading it, I was able to open and play Fortnite just fine, Valorant opened but had some corrupted files so I did try reinstalling it, more on that later. And this thing is FAST compared to my old build.
Yesterday, though, Fortnite started crashing when I tried to open it. I checked for faulty files, nothing, didn't solve it, tried redownloading the launcher and the anticheat, nothing. I then just kept pushing it and it opened. If I can keep it open for 5 minutes it doesn't crash at all, in fact. I tried opening up Deep Rock Galactic, it crashed, tried again, worked fine. Valorant has not opened once which is a bit weird, I mean it does open but it runs on the background for some reason. Here's a more precise list of games and their engines:
This might look like a random selection of games but I just played all games that I had installed to test quickly and report the results. Originally I thought only Unreal games were crashing, but apparently not.
As for the setup, I'm worried the problem might be related to the Xeon CPU I got for the setup, before anyone says that "Xeons are not good for games", I'm aware. The main goal of this computer is studying, which I tend to open many tabs and videos and PDFs while doing so, and it's been handling that pretty well, and I also checked to see if a Xeon CPU could handle all the games I currently play or want to in the future, and it did for all of them (Granted, most used a Xeon different than mine, I don't know how different they are from each other). I determined a Xeon would be a great pick for me after doing all the research. If it is the Xeon causing all the trouble I will consider switching it up for something different, I just ask for people to not reduce this to a "Xeons are bad and you are stupid for considering one an option" situation, which is why I avoided mentioning it so far. To be more specific:

Sorry for the long message, just thought it might be best to say every detail to maybe get this problem fixed or tips on how to fix it. Thanks in advance to anyone helping. Edit 1: I forgot to specify which League it was. Every "League" in the post refers to "League of Legends" Edit 2: Borderlands opened. I don't know. It didn't even crash this time. I redownloaded 4kB of archives from steam, changed the settings to run at fullscreen 1080p (Note: I did cap the framerate but that can't be the issue, right?). I'm just more confused now

Found this skillet at the back of a Goodwill shelf maybe 7 years ago for $8. It’s the favorite pan in our household but it only recently dawned on me to look into the manufacturer. I’ve found some limited information online that’s helped me ballpark the age of the pan. Anyone have any knowledge of Chicago Hardware Foundry or the value/age of my thrift store treasure?
