I’m hope this is allowed: for parents of loved ones with clubfoot, were there any must-have items and things that you would have appreciated from friends and family? I’m trying to gather up a thoughtful gift for an upcoming baby shower!

My son was born 4 months ago, and one of our favorite activities now, is him sitting on my lap, esp before bedtime, and me playing the GOW (2018 and Ragnarok) OST, and either humming or singing to him, as I rock him, to get him in a calm state for bedtime.
It has been incredible, he loves it. Raeb's Lament, Lullaby of the Giants, Giantess of Ironwood and Letting go are the favorites.
The series has a special place in my heart because my father is an abusive man. He abused my mom and us, emotionally, financially at at rare occasions physically. In this series I found an outlet for my rage. Just like Kratos had rage against Zeus, so I had rage against him. I wanted to bring the destruction of Olympus, but I was far too damaged. And young. And powerless.
By the time GOW 2018 was out, like Kratos, I had left behind my lands and come to establish myself in another country. Seeing how he was trying to show affection to his son, I wondered if that was my dad too.
But things got worse at home and I cut off ties. In Ragnarok, the scene where Atreus returns to Kratos after setting off Garm, and the way Kratos hugs him, and consoles him, I broke. I realized I would never ever get that. He would never embrace me or forgive me for moving away. He would never realize the reason why I moved away, was because of his actions, not anyone else.
And that was okay. I sought help.
By the time Valhalla came out, my son was just a few months away I was in trauma therapy (EMDR) bawling my eyes out at a lifetime of pain, as was Kratos, coming to terms.
I vowed to be a better father than my father, to change the cycle and break it, and shower him with love. To meet my son where he needed me, to understand him deeply and show him compassion.
When I finished therapy and made peace with all the abuse we had suffered, It was literally like the scene in the end of GOW 2018, when they reach the summit and Kratos lets go, opening his bandages.
"I have nothing left to hide"
I am free.
Now my son is in my arms sleeping and I am typing with one hand, as Raeb's Lament Plays, and I gotta say just like Atreus healed Kratos, my son has healed me, the happiest and cutest baby ever, he is the light of our lives.
Fatherhood is complicated and beautiful. I look forward to when he is old enough to understand, and maybe have a son of his own.

I’m hosting a baby shower for close friend. Guest list is went from 20 to 80 without much warning. Getting cake, snacks, decoration. It’s so much damn work and so much money.
I’m part of two bridal parties. Both brides want a multi-day bachelorette with expensive activities and fancy meals. So much money.
I’m just going to use up all my money with these celebrations!
I’m paying for daycare, my student loans, mortgage, etc. I don’t have all this extra disposable income.
My own baby shower and bachelorette parties were low key because I’m a low key person so I have an even harder time understanding why these friends demand the finer things from their friends who have different income backgrounds. And yes, we have been communicating but hitting walls. Sigh.
Lesson learned: celebrate people but don’t be in charge of the planning.

Kimchi: Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is really cool, because it stars me and my cute, little, adorable hubby. It starts out all spooky like because he doesn't know what's going on, but come on, nobody could be scared of me for too long, now could they? I mean, look at these cute little ears and tail.
Edgiscript: Kimchi, it's a script. They can't see you.
Kimchi: Maybe you can't. Anyway, the really, really, really, super-cool thing about this series is that each piece was written to work completely on its own. Well, maybe you need the 1st one to set things up. But then it doesn't matter. You can do any pieces you want after that in any order you want. And you don't even have to mark them as being a part 2 or part 3 or anything like that. You can just treat them as one-offs and see if your listeners make the connection. Each chapter is its own self-contained story. Some require multiple voices, but each one is its own thing.
Edgiscript: So, if you think series don't do that well, you can do any of these chapters without treating them as a series.

(Slow footsteps. Sounds of night time.)
Kimchi: (From nearby. Spooky and mysterious. Singsong voice calling out.) Where aaaaaare you, human? Come oooooouuuut.
(Still spooky and haunting, but no longer singsong.) I know you’re here. I can smell you. I’ve been hunting you for a while now. Did you know that? Did you know I’ve been stalking you for weeks?
I’ve never had the opportunity to catch you until now. You’ve never been alone before. Is that because you knew I was watching? I wonder.
But this time you chose to wander through the woods back to your house. Is that because somebody slashed your tires? I wonder who could have done that? (Giggles creepily.) Maybe someone that wanted you out here all alone so she could have you all to herself. And now you’re aaaaaaaaaalllllll mine.
(Singsong.) So come on ooooooooooooouuuuut.
(Footsteps pick up the pace a little.)
You’re walking faster now. I can hear you. I see you like to play. Good, that makes this more fun. It’s so satisfying to catch prey that’s actually trying. When your prey knows there’s no chance and gives up, it takes away all of the thrill of the hunt, and I looooooove the hunt.
Your smell is so intoxicating. I’m going to love sinking my teeth into your neck.
I was hoping you wouldn’t bother calling for an Uber. After all, your apartment was so close, and you’ve walked these woods so many times during the day. You know every branch, every rock. Don’t you? You felt so safe walking this way. In fact, you even avoided possibly running into some very bad people in town by going this way.
I wonder if you thought they might have slashed your tires and were fooling them by taking this route. Bet you didn’t know that something else haunted these woods. But now you do. And now you’re beginning to realize that you can’t get away from me.
(Footsteps begin running.)
Ah hah. Now you’re finally running. Yes! Gooooood. That gets me so excited. The chase is on.
You know you’re fast. You run regularly. You work out. You’re healthy and strong. You believe you can make it. Go on, little prey. You can do it.
(Giggles creepily.) The thing that’s chasing you can’t be faster than you, can it? It’s not racing towards you right now drawn by your breathtaking aroma and your delightful sound, and now…
...your beautiful sight. Yes. There you are. You can’t see me, but I can see you.
Now, the real fun begins. Should I just take you, or let the chase go on? I want you so badly, but I also love the chase, and I never get to chase anything anymore. Nothing comes through here at night. I think they’re afraid of me. Nobody wants to play.
But you do. You came into my woods because you love to play, don’t you? Admit it. The chase thrills you too. Your blood is pumping. Your heart is racing. You feel so alive.
But not for very much longer now. No, not very long now. You know the end is near. Your home is so close, isn’t it? You have only a little further to go and you’ll be out of the woods and close enough to other people that I won’t be able to catch you. There’s hope. Hope you’ll make it. So, I guess this game is finally over. You’re MINE!!!
(Sounds of a tackle.)
Hello, little human. You’ve made for such an exhilarating prey. I loved this game very much and I want to thank you for your part.
(Pause.)
Yes, I said, “human.” You see what I am now. You see my teeth. You see my ears. I’m a cat-girl. Or rather, I am the hunter and you are my prey. But now the chase is over and you’re mine. Any last words before I finally… heh heh, finalize our… courtship?
(From now on Kimchi is sweet and endearing, not creepy and menacing.)
(Confused.) Whoa, whoa, whoaaaaaaaa!. Human, what are you doing? When I asked if you had any last words, I didn’t think you’d scream for help. What’s that all about?
(Pause.)
WHAT!?! Eat you? Of course I’m not going to eat you. Why would I eat you?

Yes, I said I was going to sink my teeth into your neck, but not like that. Humans taste… well, I don’t know what humans taste like, because I’ve never eaten a human. But I’m sure they taste disgusting. Blech.
Do human girls eat their men when they catch them? I suppose that would explain why the number of marriages is dropping.
(Pause.)
Yes, marriages. That’s what I said.
(Pause.)
What do you mean, what’s that got to do with this? That’s got everything to do with this. I’m marrying you.
(Pause.)
No, I’m not proposing marriage.
(Speaking slowly as if the listener is stupid.) I’m ma-rry-ing you.
(Normal.) Right now. That’s what cat-girls do. We find ourselves a hubby, (Smiling.) that’s you, (Normal.) we catch them, and we make them ours. I’ve caught you. You’re mine. That’s how it works.
(Pause.)
Of course you have a say in this. That’s why I asked you if you had any last words. Isn’t that what the humans do? As the ceremony is wrapping up, they like to say, “I do.” Right? I was letting you say, “I do.”
(Pause.)
What do you mean I made it sound like I was going to kill you? Who says, “Any last words” before killing somebody?
Oh, come to think of it, you may have a point. I didn’t think of it that way.
(Pause.)
And I also said, “The end is near.” I meant the end of the chase, not your life.
Sorry about that, but whatever. It’s irrelevant because I’ve caught you and you’re mine. All I have left to do is attach this collar and tie you up and then I bring you back to my place for all of the love and affection I can provide.
(Giggles.) There’s your collar attached. Now, the humans will see that you’re mine. I still have to mark you with my scent when we get home so other cat-girls will know to keep their grubby little hands or paws off of you. That’s where biting your neck comes in.
(Pause.)
Yeah, I’ve got human looking hands. Some cat-girls have paws. It’s kind of like how some humans have black hair and some are blonde or red. It just happens that way.
Now, do you mind putting your hands together for me? That would make it easier on me to tie you up.

Am I worried somebody will stop me? You can’t be serious. Why would I be worried about that?

Cat people just decide on who they want and they take them. According to your human laws, I only can’t take you if another girl has made you hers. Those are your rules, not mine. Personally, I might fight a girl for you if I thought she wasn’t good enough for you.
We used to chase only other cat people, but you humans are the ones that said it was ok if we included you as potential mates. And I’m so glad they did, because you are the cutest, most adorable little man I have ever seen, and I’ve just made you mine.
There, I’ve got your legs all tied too.
(Pause.)
Yes, yes, I know I keep calling you “little” and I’m actually smaller than you, but it was supposed to be affectionate. A term of endearment. You’re my cute little baby. See? Like that.

Does anyone remember when they typically release the full map with where all the bathrooms, shower pods, med tents, etc? I know they typically set them up in the same place every year but I'm bringing 6 newcomers this year, and being ever the planner, I like to make a slideshow for all my babies explaining where they can find everything.

I turn 30 this year, and it’s right around when I should be having a baby shower… should I combine the two? Any good ideas for a theme? This is the easiest way to get everyone together at once, lots of us live far apart (again, 30).
Need some opinions from complete strangers!

I just had my baby the 16th and I’m in so much pain, he’s currently in the nicu he caught pneumonia I have no clue how but he’s recovering but I have used the spray bottle and done everything in the book it just hurts to stand to long tmi I haven’t taken a shower but I’m quite literally scared I’ll fall :( also I’m pumping like crazy is any of this normal?? I’m a first time mom I know it’s going to be hard to get around but any advice tips will help yes I’ve also tried tusk pads they only give a little relief to my one measly stitch :(

My corgi has always been “a lot.” Barking, jumping, typical corgi things (although I personally believe my girl (3 year old F) probably has more stamina than most).
But then there was the unusual. Barking at familiar objects that were suddenly out of place (a coat, a box of diet coke, a purse, etc.). Barking at the shower any time it turned on. Jumping and snapping at my clothes if I danced or did a jerky unexpected move or yelped at a spider (very specific, I know). Barking when I seperated myself from her, especially if there was someone else in the house (putting her to bed at night [around 9-10pm] so my partner and I could watch a little TV undisturbed). All of these things were frustrating, sure, but manageable.
Last September (09/23), my partner moved in with me officially. He and my dog spent loads of time together, often cuddling in bed or on the couch. Their relationship seemed so strong that it got to the point of us joking that my dog preferred him to me.
Prior to him moving in we had been working with a trainer to figure out how my dog ticks, and how we might get her to bark at us a little less. The training, in all honesty, seemed very basic despite it being a lengthy and expensive program. Commands my dog already knew, games for mental stimulation that we were already playing, etc. One of the issues we had been facing was putting her to bed at night when she didn’t want to go. At times, it could be a whole production filled with coaxing and bribing to get her into her crate. We tried different treats, different beds, but for the most part she really seemed to pick and choose when she wanted to go in and when she wanted to rebel. Eventually, the trainer suggested we stop crating her. If she really didn’t want to go into the crate, why were we forcing her? When the trainer posed that question, the best I could answer was that in my personal research, it was important for dogs to be crate trained so they could self-soothe. The trainer said if the dog didn’t want to go in, then it wasn’t soothing to her and could possibly be fueling her other behaviors.
We didn’t feel super comfortable at first and eventually the training sessions ended with our girl still not always wanting to go in. Eventually, we threw up our hands and said “let’s try it.”
For two weeks, we didn’t crate her at bedtime. Sometimes I’d hear her pacing at night, and in the mornings there would sometimes be an accident somewhere in the house (very unusual for my trained dog). We noticed she seemed a little… edgy? But not to the point where we really suspected anything could go wrong.
Until she attacked my partner in December (12/23). It took us both by surprise and my partner was terrified (he’s been attacked by a dog once previously and carries a lot of anxiety around it). The two of them were best buds, we couldn’t (and still can’t) wrap our heads around this change. The attacks consisted of our girl running full speed at my partner, jumping, growling, snarling, snapping at him.
When this happened, we immediately jumped into action. We started crating her at night again. We contacted her vet, she got a clean bill of health. We contacted a new trainer and got on their calendar. We contacted a veterinary behaviorist and began trials of new medications.
Unfortunately, the first attack was not the last one. They picked up in frequency to the point where my partner and my dog could not be in the same space together, or she would attack him. We baby gated the house to keep them seperate. I would sit on one half of the room with my dog (to keep her calm), and he would sit on the other. We were miserable.
During this time we tried multiple medications. My dog had already been on fluoxetine with no perceivable impact. We tried gabopentin, clonidine, and are now about to try sertraline.
Eventually we got in with the new trainer at their board & train program. I know these programs are a bit controversial, but we needed to see change and were desperate. Plus, the idea of having our girl being observed by a professional trainer full-time was appealing. Maybe this level of time could give the trainer insight into what the problem is and how to best care for her.
About a week and a half after we got her back, she regressed. I had sent her to her crate as part of a training excercise and was on my way to close the gate when my partner walked by. She bolted out of her crate, bounded across the room and over our couch to start jumping and snapping at his arm.
Thankfully, muzzle training was part of this new program. She wears one full time when she’s outside of the crate because we simply can’t predict when it will happen. My partner has never been physically hurt by her, even in the original attacks (he wears thick denim jeans, so skin was never broken). But, the anxiety and fear of never knowing when she’ll attack has been pretty detrimental to his mental health.
We don’t know what to do anymore. We’re at the end of our ropes. We have no idea why she’ll be friendly and cuddling with him one moment, and lunging/growling at him the next.
If you were me, what would you do next? What options do we have?

Me and my partner were together for 5 years and meron kaming baby (3 years old). He had a 2 children sa una nyang relationship. To make it short ako yung nagwowork kasi sa totoo lang mas malaki ako kumita sakanya at alam ko pag nagwork sya yung sahod nya eh kulang pa para sa 2 anak nya baka mag-abono pa ako. So sya pinag-aalaga ng anak namin pero sagot ko lahat. Eversince sa relationship namin never ako nanghingi sakanya o di ko sya inobliga kasi sabi ko wala work basta help lang ako sa anak ko alaga and house chores.

• Ako nagbabayad ng lahat ng needs sa bahay as in 0 ambag sya.
• Ako nagpapaaral sa isa nyang anak (private school)
• Ako sa monthly groceries ng mga anak nya sa una (again, kasi wala sya work so sinalo ko na maalagaan lang anak ko)
• Ako sa maintenance ng vehicle + gas
• Ako sa biglaang hospital or needs ng anak nya at namin
• Ako din madalas sa luho nya kasi para sakin kailangan nya ng paminsan minsan dahil nasa bahay lang.

So inshort ako lahat di ba?
Ngayon naghelp ako magpatayo sya ng business nya para di sya mabored sa bahay + meron din syang tinda na ako din sumagot (so dito nagkakapera sya kahit papaano).
Ang nakakainis lang ako na nga sa lahat pero sobra naman ata. Pinapansin nya pag wala ako ginagawa sa bahay kahit maliit lang naman. Ni luto bilang sa isang linggo magluto. The worst is pag sya ang may pera ni minsan di sya offer na ako na magbayad ganto ganyan lahat iba nakikinabang. Sobrang kapal ng mukha magdemand pag ubos na pera ibili ko daw sya ganto ganyan para makaporma sa inuman. Minsan nashoshort ako pero di ako nanghingi ng help sakanya pero bakit napaka insensitive? Pag wala syang pera puro sakin pero pag meron kahit konti wala man lang maski na offer madalas pang ambag pa sa inuman. Nakasama pa nga ata pagbibigay ko ng business sakanya kasi wala naman ako napapala. Don’t get me wrong. Oo kaya ko naman pera yung sweet gesture man lang na kahit tubig na wala pang 500 ang bill sana man lang sya na yun pero makapal talaga. Ultimo mo pamilya nya panay parinig at libre pero ako wala nganga. Nakakapagod. Worth it pa ba? Hindi ako makabangon imbes na umaangat.
Pag humiwalay ako laking ginhawa lalo na anak ko nalang bubuhayin ko baka sobra pa samin ang sahod ko. Independent woman ako pero syempre hello I need help din kahit konti. Sobrang kapal ng mukha na eh.
Ang sakin lang, ako lahat sana kahit sa emotional support andyan sya. Pag alam nya dami ko gastos sana wag na dumagdag. At wag sya mag expect na ako na work ako pa sa bahay. Independent lang ako pero hindi ako superwoman.

• sa curious, bakit di sya magwork? Ako ang may ayaw kasi mabilis sya maisama sa inuman tska meron naman syang business. Baka sahod nya di na kasya sa 2 anak nya at baka ako pa mag-abono. Wfh ako so kahit pumapasok ako nakakahelp ako magbantay sa anak namin di lang kakayanin na wala ako katulong.

My husband took our newborn down the street to pick up a few things and give me time to shower alone. When he returned home he told me about this ‘karen’ who banged on the car window when she realized he was going to drive home without buckling our baby in properly. He told me she was crying so much he struggled to strap her in and he was just trying to get back home asap. This lady must have had some crazy female intuition and she apparently came banging on the car telling him to strap her in properly.
Honestly I want to hug this stranger and punch my husband but I am wondering if I am overreacting?

Yesterday at 3pm I pumped and at 4pm I took advantage of baby finally going down for a nap and took a quick shower when I lost consciousness, fainted, and hit my head pretty hard. I woke up to paramedics and being transported to the hospital via ambulance. Between multiple tests, MRIs, CT scans, etc, I was not able to pump again until 11pm. By that time, my hospital gown was soaked in milk and my breasts were so engorged that even after pumping for 20 minutes, they still felt full but I was quickly whisked away for more tests. I’ve been on a limited diet, including water intake, and I’m still not able to pump on my regular schedule (I’ve been pretty strict with staying on top of pumping every 3 hours and have only missed/delayed a handful of sessions) between the interruptions of tests. Since yesterday at 4pm I pumped at 11pm, 4am, 8am, 12pm, and 4pm today. Between not drinking water and staying on schedule to pump, how much will my supply be affected? They are planning to keep me another night.
My baby is only 3 weeks only and is my first child, I had planned to EBF but due to him not being able to latch I was thrown into pumping with absolutely zero information on what I was doing so I am still very much so learning the ropes and winging it while trying to learn as much as I can about pumping all while taking care of a newborn, so we know how well that’s going lol.

Hey everyone! I really need some assistance. I am trying to figure out how to make this theme work. I can't find many ideas online that scream fairytale. I definitely want to do it as cost effective as possible but I want to give it a magical feel at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas? Any advice would be appreciated!

Would you be offended to recieve a general thank you at your place setting at the baby shower vs after?
Years ago, I attended a shower that did this and at first I was taken aback with the lessor effort of the thank you but then considered, this mom has enough on her plate busy preparing for a little one etc that a couple minutes after I thought, huh, how creative and convenient to thank someone.
Thoughts?

I made a post in Mommit about an interaction I had with my MiL at my baby shower that resulted in her in tears and my husband and I arguing over how I can and cannot speak to her. Someone recommended this sub, but I didn’t think it was necessary. That is, until more of this situation played out.
TL;DR of the first post: my MiL derailed our baby shower by insisting we open her gift when we didn’t plan to open gifts, trying to snatch the gift from my toddler after I’d given it to her, and trying to control how we opened the gift and who was looking at that precise moment. My husband was letting this happen, and I lashed out by saying that the spectators to this gift opening were not having a baby! She burst into tears and everyone left.
So my husband felt that I jumped down her throat and embarrassed her unfairly. I cracked under that, and I sent her an apology under the condition that I could also air my frustrations to her directly. Here was that message:
“Hi MiL, I’m hoping to talk to you about yesterday. I understand that my comments made you feel hurt and embarrassed. I don’t want to make you feel that way, and I understand that my comments were rude. At the same time, I felt very frustrated in that moment and I wish that you would have respected our plan to wait to open gifts until after our guests had left the party. I also felt it was not ok to take the gift back from DD— I chose to include her for a reason, and it felt like you weren’t respecting that as well. Everyone would have seen the gift in their own time and been able to appreciate it just as well, whether they saw the paper coming off or saw it right after. But it was very overwhelming and frustrating to be told how and when to open the gift. To me, that is not a nice way to receive a gift, and it upset me a lot. In the future, if you have a very specific vision for how everyone should do something, then I think it would be better for you to work with DH on it rather than me. I’m telling you this not to excuse my comments, but to try to be open with you about how I was feeling at the time and why I got upset. My choice to say what I said was not the right response, and I should have waited to air my frustrations at a more appropriate time, and I’m sorry for that.”
Then, her response. It’s honestly so long and rambling that I don’t think y’all would care to read it. But she takes no responsibility for her side of it, telling me she couldn’t have been disrespectful because 1) she didn’t know that we didn’t plan to open gifts (even though I told her ??) and 2) she didn’t know the reason I included DD in opening the gifts (this makes no sense). But that I was extremely rude and she deserves respect because she would never have spoken to her in-laws like that. That’s when I lost it. I sent this:
“You found out that we were not opening gifts, when I told you that we are not opening gifts. And then you refused to respect that. You pushed for us to do it for you anyways, at an inappropriate time. That was you not respecting my choice.
I handed the present to DD, that was my choice. You tried to snatch it back from her. That was you not respecting my choice. There should be nothing confusing about that. A mature adult also does not snatch a present from a child in that manner.
I assumed you were hurt by my comment because you burst into tears in front of the entire party. So either you were hurt, or the tears were for show. You tell me which. [She insisted that she was not hurt by my comments lol]
Respect is a mutual endeavor, so let me be very clear: You do not get to act the way you did (and often do) in my home and around my children, and get respect from me. I always give you the same amount of respect that I am receiving from you, and that will continue.
There were many ways for you to respectfully approach presenting that gift, and you chose not to do that. If you can’t figure that out, that’s on you. You are the only person in our lives who seems to have trouble with this sort of thing. Any further communication should be done through DH, that is all I have to say.”
I am feeling very upset and my husband is angry with me and I just need encouragement that it’s ok for me to stand my ground in this way. Or criticism if that is due. If you’re interested in reading her message in between I can post it in a comment, this post is just incredibly long already.

We met online with a 1.5 hour commute between us - It was lovebomb at first sight. The first date (june 2023) was magic spending 10 hours at the beach in the water. I had a feeling after just a week of knowing him... facetimes or texts every 3-5 hours, seeing each other every other weekend. It was lovely to have such an incredible connection with someone so quickly and crave them every moment of everyday. I really felt like this was it with the amount of attention/affection he gave me, we would surf and skate together. he said his dream was always to skate with a girl. he told me how important it was to have the same interests as your partner and we also were both into taking film photos and have really special memories captured.
The distance started to take a toll on us 3 months (September) in. It was our first sort of argument he picked about it being almost noon and we hadn't left the house yet to do what we said we would do I was ready and waiting for him to be done playing guitar. But this was all due to him waking up late per usual and his ADHD is so severe he has no idea how quickly time goes by while He will do 4 things at once and then complain about not enough time in the day.
We ended up breaking up because he kept saying "I don't Know" when I Would ask him what he wants. We both crying I packed all my things and then I said why don't we enjoy the day and do what we said we would do and then I'll go home. We ended up enjoying the afternoon and he cried to me about how he can't lose me and how foolish he was to start an argument.
OK fast forward 2 weeks in September we had plans to go camping for the weekend, I booked a dog sitter. the night he was planning to come over he cancels on because there is a rat in his house (he has 3 roommates and the kitchen and pans and cabinets were never cleaned). so I end up taking my oldest dog on the camping trip and leaving the younger one with the sitters. this was my first sign from the universe that things happen for a reason... keep reading.
Then in end of October. My old boy is sick I drive to Mexico for vet care and he offered to come with me both times and then said he had too much work. Mind you, he wakes up at 9am, clocks in from his bed, does his morning routine and doesn't start to work until 11am usually. He will go run errands in the middle of the work day, play guitar and complains about not being a good worker. He even told me a friend called him out for it because he had mentioned it to them a year prior. So he had been knowingly a poor worker for more than the time I have known him. I brushed it off since my dog was #1. 2 weeks later I take the second trip to Mexico which also happened to be the day after I had been put under for a broken finger from a surf accident. he did not come for my surgery to support me and i expressed concern on lifting my 80 lb dog with my finger freshly put back together with a metal plate. yeah he couldn't come he has work. I spend 8 hours in mexico going to 5 hospitals for my sick dog to find answers. while he ended up going to the skatepark after work. I went to stay at his house that night which was nice he setup a bed for me to lay next to my dog on the floor.
the next morning was Friday. I said ok I have to put my baby down this weekend he is so sick. he said ok I am coming over right after work to be with you. that evening he calls me. his friends brother is in town and he is going to go surfing in the morning (saturday) with them and come over right after. I said ok whatever. I was screaming inside.
he comes its fine. sunday I put my dog down. I have the vet come, before hand I had frequencies playing for my baby on spotify and he has the audacity to change it to youtube video to show my cousin a skate clip. I called him out and he dismissed me.
a week after my dog is put down we have another (many not even mentioned because its painful) butting heads episode of him telling me knitting is not faster than crocheting and he has the experience since he was around it when his friends crocheted so i should listen to him. mind you I have been crocheting for 10 years i have never knitted so i mentioned i was going to start knitting and he told me how much slower it is and i just genuinely don't know so i said oh I didn't know and I don't know what to expect and because I didn't say I believe you it was this terrible icky feeling in my gut I didn't even wanna talk to him anymore. I was telling him how excited I Was about something and he would always shoot me down. so I called him later that evening after work to discuss it and of course he is driving to the skatepark and he says he needs to go skate and feels bad energy after me calling him to talk about the knitting crocheting mishap and he goes "your life has been so depressing lately" and I was just so taken back by that and hurt I don't even remember what my response was but I should have hungup and never talked to him again. I don't remember what happened but I let it go.
then a couple weeks later (November) its 2 weeks from Thanksgiving, he says his roommate is making a fried turkey and invites me i am so excited because I am 2,000 miles from my family so I begin to prepare what meals I want to make. a week before Thanksgiving he facetimes me and says he has exciting news that hes going to mexico for thanksgiving to surf with his friends. I was so sad, I asked him why he would make plans in place of what we planned and he just said it was a special opportunity and so I felt i had no choice and didn't fight it. i realize at this point of typing all of this I enabled alot of this behavior.
that evening I sent a video message to him about how hurt I was and how inconsiderate he is of my feelings and the fact that I am his girlfriend and his friends and what he wants to do comes before me always. the next morning he apologizes via text and then is quite throughout the day which is very odd because he texts every 3 hours pretty much. I ask how his day is going and he says it started off shitty because of the message he received from me that morning, it wasn't the "best way to start the day". so again I am dismissed for sharing my feelings. and I let it go again.
Thanksgiving comes and I take my other dog camping to the spot I took my recently passed dog. Fast forward December he was visting at my house and I have been working on training my younger dog he has leash reactivity. I say "here" and treat dog when we pass other dogs so he associates quiet still behavior with a reward in this moment. Ok so then he suggests I teach dog a different word that would associate a dog is coming and that my dog needs to behave............ I said that is exactly why I say "here". He continues and starts to raise his voice, "you aren't listening to me, teach him a different word like leave it" and I said ok but he still isn't good with "here" so why would i give him another word to learn? it turned into an explosive fight. we broke up the next night and he is bawling his eyes out and so am I. a week goes by we get back together because I can't help but think he has potential to be this amazing partner he talks about all these things he wants out of someone and I check every box but he just would pick this random little arguments and then be so indecisive of what he wants to break up or not.
I told him how I wanted to do yoga teacher training he says "theres already a lot of yoga teachers". I told him I was going to costa rica with my girlfriend for a surf trip and he says "why would you go with her and not me? how long have you known her? your level of surfing isn't even at the par to go to costa rica" but he had already gone on 2 surf trips with friends. he would dismiss me time and time again. he would criticize everything I do. even telling him something I saw happen he would qualify everything I said and question what I saw was true.
His birthday comes in January and prior to this I told him how excited I am and important it is to spend brithdays together and shower each other. I make him a cake the night before and set up my dog for daycare. I drive to work keep his cake in the fridge and then after pick up dog from daycare and drive 2 hours to see him and celebrate. He then tells me he booked a trip to skate in Spain with his friends over my birthday. I was so heartbroken I wanted to throw up I asked him if he takes me seriously and he said yes of course and we both cry I am so furious I should have left but I didn't. I then tell him how disgusting his house and its been 8 months and hes never bought me flowers. the next day he brings flowers to the coffee shop I went to work at. I went back to his house after and broke up with him yet again. I burned a picture of him he gave me. I really tried to move on. he hurt me so much and would dismiss me all the time.
I don't know why but we got back together again. he started watching dharma talks I would send him (mindfulness talks, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Ram Dass kind of stuff) because he knew how selfish and self centered he was and he admited it every time we broke up but made no effort and this last break up he really did seem to make an effort.
we didn't see each other for 40 days and he came over in April for a weekend we went to the art museaum he was in the middle of a story and we were getting kicked out I asked him if he can take my picture quick and he flips, "I can never finish a story it takes forever all the time" he takes my picture and then I stop being silent. I tell him you are the storyteller all the time I never tell you stories because its always about your stories I remind him I haven't been to an art museum in ages and i want a photo in that moment and your story already happened so why cant it wait a moment??? he then woke up a little and saw my perspective. and then the next day we went to surf, the surfboards are in the car we go thrifting and he says oh we can't be in there for even 30 minutes someone will steal the boards he had all this concern on the surfboards and I was like why did we come here then...? lets just leave but no we go inside and of course 15 min in he says ok! 15 more min! and then later that night I said why did you make such a big fuss and then you don't even live the truth you say? he says yeah I wanted to come apologize to you but I didn't and I am like are you kidding?! come on please I need you to take accountability for your actions this is part of being an adult!! and then he admits to being a "whiny baby" and I was like yes you are a huge baby and youre a grown ass man! anyways it was a very nice talk while I was actually able to talk and he was listening very well.
Ten days ago was my birthday, I went camping with my dog. He told me he would facetime me on my birthday he only sent a text in the morning from spain mentioning "I wish I could be with you" whatever crock of s*/t. he never called me. I saw his friends posting on IG though so I know they had Wi-Fi. I sent a picture of my camp and said "we made it, thanks for calling like you said you would :(" that was my last text to him.
the next morning he gave every excuse, "sooooo sorry I didn't get to facetime you" we were so busy blah blah blah. its like if you wanted to make the effort you would? sends another text asking how camp was and what are we doing that day and then another one 8 hours later apologizing saying how truly bad he feels and hopes I am willing to speak with him but could understand how I wouldnt want to and says he blew it.
I never responded. He never even tried to call me to apologize just 4 total texts. I blocked him from seeing my IG stories. I am so heartbroken that I spend a year thinking I was with this wonderful person who wants the same things as me to learn that all he wants is to skate and surf and not do any hard work or put any effort into life he has not made any growth the entire almost year I have known him.
I have made so many advancements in my own life. I sold my motorcycle, rented out my garage, laid brick in my yard by myself never offered to help, I starting selling all of my vintage at pop ups I did 3 and he never came to any. I broke my finger and put my dog of 11 years down. I have a really wonderful job and I also stick to my word and do what I Tell people I am going to do.
I can't help but be missing him. Wanting to work it out. I act impulsively quite often but I know in my gut this man would not stand up for me if times got tough like he hasnt this whole year. can people really change? do I owe closure to him?

I’m a 25F and I now have children, and watch them with my mom and it makes me cringe. So when I was born to about until I was removed from the home at 12. My mom would walk around naked, fully, gave code names for genitals and made me think it was normal to be naked, she would make me shower with her while I was 10 years ago and pluck her leg hair near her pubes . Now she had men in and out the house she slept with. Men asked me to model my new bras and underwear etc when I was like 9/10 growing a chest. I’ve been assaulted by this men and blamed by my mom part of why I was removed from the home. This things about her though have never been discussed only the men. Now fast forward- I have 2 little boys. My first born is her world, she tries to turn him against me and spoils him, she dislikes my second and isolates herself and my oldest. He’s 6 btw. She sleeps with him and he doesn’t even sleep with me. We were in the pool the other day and I had the googles on and saw my son rubbing her breasts. And now it’s got me thinking is she doing to my son what she did to me or am I overthinking. My son is cuddler and touchy. But in public if he touches her she’s like omg you’re making me sooo uncomfortable touching my boobies pervert. Like he doesn’t understand sexual acts so I was just like wtf? Idk I’m just stressed and I’m having another baby so I’m like I need her out. I’m terrified of her hurting my kid but it could just be in my head. Also, she and her sister we SA by their dad and the sisters would do things to each other. I just feel like history repeats.
