2024.05.10 21:02 tadbitnerdish (WIP) Looking for input on possible deviation from pattern
I’m currently knitting my first (!!) sweater and it’s for my toddler daughter. I had planned on following the pattern with the bubble stitch throughout, but with my yarn I feel its going to be too busy. I’m debating continuing the multi-color until the armpit, then just the gray for the body and sleeves (similar to a nordic-style sweater). submitted by tadbitnerdish to knitting [link] [comments] Looking for input on: 1: Continue the pattern as written with the multi-color bubble stitches throughout 2: Switch to gray-only for body and sleeves, knit stitch 3: Switch to gray-only for body and sleeves, but continue the bubble stitch so the texture is the same throughout |

Colorwork involves incorporating multiple colors of yarn into your knitting to create intricate patterns and designs. Fair Isle knitting, a traditional technique originating from the Fair Isle in Scotland, is characterized by its use of stranded colorwork, with two or more colors of yarn carried across the row. Whether you're knitting a cozy sweater with a bold geometric motif or a festive holiday stocking adorned with Nordic-inspired patterns, colorwork and Fair Isle knitting add depth and dimension to your projects and allow you to unleash your creativity in new and exciting ways.Lace KnittingFor knitters who crave a touch of elegance and sophistication, lace knitting is the perfect technique to explore. Lace knitting involves creating delicate openwork patterns by strategically increasing and decreasing stitches. From intricate floral motifs to swirling geometric designs, lace knitting adds a romantic, ethereal quality to your projects. Knit a lightweight shawl to drape elegantly over your shoulders, a lacy scarf to accessorize your favorite outfit, or even a delicate lace blouse to wear on special occasions. With its timeless beauty and endless design possibilities, lace knitting is sure to captivate and inspire you. https://preview.redd.it/53dh2i2wo1yc1.jpg?width=4016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af2571a6c8b0ec3c9f32faf2699de37e26710bfa Advanced TechniquesAs an intermediate knitter, you may also want to challenge yourself with some more advanced techniques and constructions. From seamless top-down sweaters and intricate cables to complex lace patterns and three-dimensional motifs, there's always something new to learn and master. Explore the world of garment construction by knitting a sweater in the round with no seams to sew, or try your hand at steeking – cutting your knitting to create openings for sleeves or pockets. And if you're feeling really adventurous, why not experiment with unconventional materials or knitting techniques, such as entrelac, double knitting, or modular knitting? The possibilities are endless when it comes to advanced knitting techniques, so don't be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone and explore new creative avenues. Here are five more knitting project ideas for intermediate knitters: Color-Blocked SweaterCombine your love of colorwork with the satisfaction of knitting a garment by creating a color-blocked sweater. 2024.04.24 10:13 Pingu-nauta5 How do I make a graphan bigger?
Hi, I have experience crocheting but this is my first adventure with colorwork. Some months ago, a friend of mine saw a knitted pattern of a sweater in one magazin. I offer to crochet it for her since I like the project. The magazine have a reindeer graphan intended for a size M, my friend uses a 2XL. I have experience with sweaters but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to enlarge the graph. Currently I'm crocheting the back because I need to know my gauge. I tried to make the graph on stitchfiddle but the piece it's to large to work comfortably. submitted by Pingu-nauta5 to CrochetHelp [link] [comments] I'm using an Aran yarn because I don't want to use bulky yarn (it's a sweater and I was afraid that could be uncomfortable for her) The gauge on the pattern (knitted) is 10cmX10cm = 15 p. (Stitch) X 22 v. (Row) My current gauge is 10cm X 10 cm = 14 p X 20 v ¿Would it be ok if I use the pattern as it is? I'm afraid that the image turn out with a weird shape I'm looking for some advise to make this work 😊 ¿How do you do it in your projects? I put a foto of the design but I don't know if I could publish the pattern since it's from a magazine that I usually buy. (Sorry for my broken English, it's not my first language) |

2024.03.26 19:16 Funny-Masterpiece-32 PLEASE HELP! Trying to find vintage sweater my dad is wearing in photo!!
Hi all, I'm absolutely desperate to find the sweater my dad's wearing in the photo above. It was taken in the 90's and was his favourite sweater for years which he wore all the time. My mum loved it so much she used to wear it as well, when he let her lol. He passed away 4 years ago but the sweater was long gone before then, It's my mums birthday soon and I'm determined to find another one and give it to her as a present, I'll know she'll fucking love it (and probably cry) submitted by Funny-Masterpiece-32 to vintage [link] [comments] I tried google image search with no results, but some of the sweaters that showed up had similar markings on them.. The ones that look the most similar are the Nordic style wool sweaters, Shetland wool (which would make sense as we lived in Scotland) and possibly even some vintage Ralph Lauren? Not sure about that one though. I will keep searching but if anyone can point me in the right direction I will be forever grateful!!! 2024.03.22 16:29 SwissCheese4Collagen The EL AY Bookses: Jingle Ringles in her 30’s (Unplugged) CHRISTMAS WITH FAMILY AND...THE AMISH?
Happy Fri-Yay Snarkers! Since Jingle has so kindly provided chapter titles, I’m going to use those to separate the vlog. It’s time to check in on Jingle, and her birthday/holiday celebrations back in Pennsylvania. She is “so excited” to show us this vlog and it was “so good”. I must be spoiled living in Indiana where I have Amish communities scattered around, but I’m not sure why she is so excited to see the Amish. I would get excited over an Amish quilt though. The image hiccups with eye-catching colors before going into a truncated version of their jazzy, pretentiously snazzy opening song. The image has another multicolored glitch and I might as well drink when I do Jingle and the EL AY Bookses vlogs if this stays in. It’s only the second time it’s done it in 17 seconds and I already want to flip a table. submitted by SwissCheese4Collagen to SnarkyRecapsBySwiss [link] [comments] Anyways, Jingle was worried about the kids flying out there on a 5 hour flight. Privacee just sat there the whole time, no movie, no show. She just did stickers, played with toy cars and people watched according to her mother. Of course, Publicitee was well-behaved also and it was an easy flight. Family There is another glitch and it’s been 19 seconds since the last one. Sweet Jesus, I might as well make this a drinking game. Judging by the frequency so far, I’d probably need Baby Swiss to type for me. Or make it an audio recap. I digress. Jere-Maw films non-tent of a very blonde Privacee walking alongside Jingle in the airport before a quick cut to driving down a dark road. Jingle yell-sings something happily as Jere-Maw says “Pennsylvania, here we are”, he adds “Grandma’s” as Jere-Maw carries Publicitee and Privacee walks ahead up the steps to the GrandVuolos’ house. Jingle films as she brings up the rear. They ring the doorbell as Publicitee gets put down just to latch onto her grandmother. Jingle helps Privacee through the door, and Publicitee runs through the dining room to stop at the edge of a darkened room which holds a tiny white tent with purple lights and a stuffed panda. Publicitee rightly loses her mind and tbh, so does my inner child. Jere-Maw swings the camera around to the Christmas tree as Privacee coughs wetly and is coaxed to run along to the tiny little fairy tent set up for her and her sister. Jere-Maw turns more to show his parents flanking his wife, and greets his mother as his wife goes over to see the tent. Jingle says “look how happy she is”. Grandma Vuolo sits on the couch in front of her granddaughters as Publicitee is assured there are many presents (5 year olds have their holiday priorities, after all) as Privacee shoves the panda into her grandmother’s arms. Sponsor Another glitch and it was 54 seconds after the last one. Oh, this one is a commercial for June’s Journey. She loves to play this game with Publicitee because “it’s set in the 1920’s”. That doesn’t count for American History class, there Jingle, and the 1920’s weren’t some paragon of modesty and virtue. On one hand I’m surprised they didn’t have to watch Ken Burns Prohibition at SOTDRT but maybe PBS was too informative for them. On the other hand I bet The Great Gatsby was not on the reading list and that book unapologetically shows the gluttony and excess of the 1920’s. She has the link in the description box and a QR code and all that jazz. We are brought back to the non-tent in front of the GrandVuolos fridge, covered with pictured of Jere-Maw and his sister. Jingle holds a ceramic photo holder of Jere-Maw as a kid and smiles. Jere-Maw shows food on the counter and then remembers to go over and look on the stove, where a Dutch oven sits covered. He opens as he says it’s a “classic Mulligataney stew” which appears to be a mix of veggies in a tomato-ey broth.Heinz sells a version in a can, but It’s an “every winter type of thing” at the Vuolo house. Jere-Maw identifies this dish, but not the other that sits on the stove as he goes back to film Jingle making kids’ plates and his dad reaches for a slice of bread. The scene cuts quickly as Jere-Maw walks into the living room quickly after his daughters. Publicitee and Privacy are running to see the deer in the backyard that Jingle is pointing out to them. A very tinny version of a Christmassy song blasts over the footage of Pennsylvania farm country. Amish Country Another glitch feature, as Jingle comes back to narrate what part of the itinerary we are seeing now. It’s Amish Country. If you haven’t lived around the Amish, well, I don’t know how to describe it other than you’ll just see them pop up in random places when you’re in some of the small towns. Baby Swiss and I saw a horse and buggy parked at the Dollar General one day, and once I was waiting for my food in a Burger King and in came 6 kids with hats, but without shoes. The Amish just kind of are around. I’ve seen them by the lakes, I’ve seen them in WalMart, I’ve seen them building buildings in the city. Jingle’s acting like they’re the uncontacted tribe on North Sentinel Island or something. So Jingle is explaining that she didn’t know what to expect. Publicitee was “stoked” about it. I’ll bet she was. You didn’t give her any context other than “horse and buggy” ride. I’m sure Jere-Maw was itching to convert them, but the only way that might happen was if he sponsored a yearly Rumspringa trip to EL AY. When they got to the farm, they get into the buggy and Jingle is perplexed to figure out how 8 people fit in a buggy like she didn’t spend half of her childhood in a house with a population density of 1.5 Dugglets per square foot. Oh, she goes on to say that 8 people is “like half of my family”. That’s the first decent math I’ve ever seen come out of SOTDRT. The buggy ride was to another farm about a mile up the road and then back to where their car was parked. Jingle says it was a “bucket list item” and…I mean, in that case, go to Amish Acres in Nappanee and leave these people who live by your in-laws alone. Especially when they stick the phone out and film an old Amish guy opening the door of the barn. The poor old man is not pleased as someone yells out “Chuck Vuolo”. Jere-Maw subtly films the sides of the driveway and the back of Publicitee’s head as they see cows grazing. As he points the camera toward the front seat, where his dad drives and Jingle rides shotgun, he keeps it semi-lowered and they pull the car around in front of the buggy where a younger Amish man and a boy stand. They film from the side of the minivan where Jere-Maw stands next to Jingle as they tell us they are preparing to go on a buggy ride. He says the girls are over the moon excited. They do know you can get a carriage ride from the English also, right? The Amish aren’t the only ones allowed to own horses and carriages or buggies. Anyways, Jingle holds Privacee as Publicitee stands in front of the buggy as Jere-Maw films from behind them. Privacee turns around a couple times and no one blurred her face. There was a token blur at one point when Privacee turned toward the camera earlier but they seem to not care as much now. If you’ve never seen an Amish buggy, they are basically a closed black box on wheels with some red and orange reflective circles on it. They also usually have a big orange triangle on the back so you can see them at night. Obviously they are pulled by a horse. The Amish man backs the horse towards the buggy, where Jere-Maw is safely settled and filming. The horse isn’t the most cooperative and it takes a few tries to get him hooked up. They get going and the horse gets up to about 20 miles an hour and the Amish says this is about the horse’s maximum speed for a trot. If he goes any faster, he will be galloping. How do they know how fast they are going? By this little meter on the dash. They have to keep a speedometer because they have to obey speed limits. Jere-Maw holds Privacee as she barely grazes her fingers along the side of his nose. They blur her out for the few split seconds that Jere-Maw’s head isn’t blocking her from view. Jingle obviously remembers to edit her footage better than Jere-Maw does. More too loud music drowns out the conversation between a filming Jere-Maw and a puzzling Jingle. I won’t hate on her for liking or doing puzzles, but Jere-Maw thinks its…well I can’t hear what he thinks. I did find it funny that she just happened to be smoothing her hair and adjusting her big fat ski cap with pom-pom while sitting at a dining room table mid-puzzle (supposedly) when Jere-Maw came in and started filming. He asks something about her birthday and she replies she could do puzzles all day. Just give her breakfast and coffee and a puzzle. I wonder if Jere-Maw tells Jingle she’s an addict in the line at the coffee shop on the way to church. Anyways, Jere-Maw says it’s the big 3 Zero and Jingle calls herself old. Jingle is shocked and amazed when Jere-Maw’s mom brings out a cake with candles and a big 30 written on it. Everyone starts to sing Happy Birthday. Jingle blows out her candles, and blows out her candles and blows out her candles before exclaiming “Mercy! Are those the ones that relight?” before turning around and leaning into Jere-Maw. His mother calmly says “we should blow these out before it sets off the smoke alarm”. Jere-Maw tells her “you got it, you got it”, but she doesn’t and gives up before a glitch effect brings us back to Narration Jingle. Christmas Morning All of the Vuolos near and far, gathered to celebrate Christmas. Jingle says it was “so sweet”, that they read the Christmas story at the top of the stairs (what do stairs have to do with anything?) and that the girls woke up early. They’re probably like “jet lag who?” even when it isn’t Christmas morning. The kids had a lot of gifts “because it’s magical when you’re a kid to have all of that there”, but the adults (like everyone else now a days) decided to do something different. The adults chose to go skiing with each other for a Christmas present. Not bad. Jingle says again the morning was “so sweet” then the Big Vuolo Breakfast took place. It’s “so special” and it includes: sausage, eggs, sweet potatoes (?), “um yeah just everything that you could think of”. Look. I can’t make sense of the sweet potato comment and I’m just going to move on. That is quite literally one of the only things I would be like “I can not make this into a breakfast dish”. Okay, I lied. They might make a hash, but I don’t think it would pair well with other breakfasty things. The rest of the day they just “chilled” and watched Christmas movies and other relaxing activities. Jere-Maw follows his two daughters into the den/living room area. They are dressed in matching red dresses and Publicitee says “so special” as Jingle parrots back “so special” before coaching Publicitee to say thank you. The next shot is a jump scare as Jere-Maw reclines in a loud Christmas sweater and Jingle snuggles next to him. They say “Merry Christmas” to each other and then Jere-Maw turns his attention off camera as Jingle stares creepily into it. Publicitee says “ ‘Evy-sister’ is opening her presents” as her face is blurred out. Jere-Maw says Privacee is content as everyone flips out over Publicitee’s doll’s hair. Publicitee jumps around the present before crouching down to her parents pouring a chorus of “wow”, “that’s amazing” and “so fun”. Jere-Maw films and left the blur filter on as the camera roams the room. A tiny oval blur races across the room as he finally turns the camera to his dad who is surrounded by Privacee and Publicitee. He helps Privacee, privacy blur in position, open her present and she immediately falls to the floor to play with a toy car. Publicitee hovers over her sister as Jingle says it was the “perfect” gift for Privacee. The girls open a gift together before the scene shifts to the girls sitting with their back to Jere-Maw. “THAT’S SO SPECIAL, LET ME SEE IT!” Jingle shouts, or I assume she did since I can hear her clearly over the music. Privacee shakes the blur as she turns around and the blur follows Publicitee across the room to fasten onto her face as she runs to her mother and turns around. Jingle says something about “flying reindeer” before the glitch is back and it’s time to go on the adult gift. The intro to the new Ghostbusters sucks. Skiing Jingle’s narration persona comes back and tells us it’s time to go skiing. “You guys, I have to be honest”…let me guess you’ve never seen snow let alone skis before? Not exactly as she finishes it with “I’m a beginner”. She skied with her family a long time ago in Colorado at a resort. Didn’t Meech fall and twist her knee or am I just remembering Meri doing that on Sister Wives. I can’t keep my TLC fundies straight today. Either way, she says they did a Vuolo family ski trip a couple years ago. Jingle says “given the amount of time that elapsed” which leads me to believe someone got her a word of the day calendar for her birthday. I digress and she says the two years made her nervous, plus the ice made her more nervous. She got the nickname “Pizza Hut”, which is terrible and IYKYK. “There was a lot of Pizza going on”. She kept putting the front tips of her skis together, making them look like a pizza slice, essentially putting on the brakes. Jere-Maw’s siblings are good at skiing, Jere-Maw is intermediate. Advanced enough for a Black Diamond run. Jingle was nervous, but Jere-Maw survived. Everyone wiped out, except her. The weather was nice, nice enough that they were sweating in their gear. I’m not sure skiing in 40-50 degree is very possible. Oh, she wants us to “check out this footage”. I guess. I’ve come this far. She glitches back to the previous footage. Jere-Maw is filming her putting on her ski boots and tells us that it’s the morning after Christmas at 6 am. Jingle gives disgruntled glances as he zooms in. She starts of with a bitchy look on her face before smiling and holding her folded hands next to her face, tilting her head and smiling. I can’t hear a word of it, the damn music is back. Jingle stands up and grabs an article of fabric from behind her and the scene cuts to Jere-Maw in another loud sweater getting himself coffee at Wawa. Jere-Maw loves Wawa. Tries desperately to not make a joke about another Wawa ahem “devotee” in another snark sub. They discuss the plan of action now that they have their coffees. Jingle says it’s time to wait for the sandwich as Hollaback Girl plays at a sane level in the background. Ah, yes, December 26th in retail. When the songs mercifully go back to pre-Christmas but the decorations are still up. But back to the show, the EL AY Bookses have left Wawa and gotten to a parking lot. I’m not sure why they think we want to see them walking up to the ski resort. Jere-Maw says they’ve got coffee in them, and Jingle clarifies hers was decaf. Hm. Maybe they are going to try for a third kid sometime this year? Jere-Maw tells her that decaf vs caf coffee is all mental anyways. No, there’s a literal physical component to caffeine. The camera gets spun around to show a very foggy ski area. Yeah, I’d nope out. That seems too slushy for a fun time. Jere-Maw says it’s been 2 years and they will see how good their muscle memory is. Gwen Stefani’s “Sweet Escape” blares from a taco truck as Jere-Maw asks Jingle if she has any last thoughts jangling around in there. She was thinking about the taco truck until he asked her that but goes on to say that she doesn’t know, it will probably be bad but she’s so excited. Jere-Maw says his brother and sister are experts and they will be okay. They will be on the Black Diamond slopes in no time as Jingle says she will not be joining anyone on said slopes. When she says it’s because she has kids, Jere-Maw chuckles and says she will be on the bunny slopes. Jingle takes offense at that too as she says “yeah, no I won’t be on the bunny slopes.” Well, where exactly are you going to be for this ski trip you’re so excited for? Jingle slides past Jere-Maw’s sister who smiles at the camera before she realizes her brother isn’t filming her. She goes back to normal life as Jingle has to answer questions about how her first run felt. The ski resort music is back, fighting for audio space on the footage as Jingle says she just took it slow. Jere-maw’s sister waves to the camera, as the third Vuolo sibling looks off to the side fo the ski lift. Jingle and Jere-Maw’s sister pose cutely with their heads together as Jere-Maw declares them done with the Bunny slopes, and says they are now going to the “big boys”. Jingle says “Oh, mercy” as the ski lift goes up, up and up past green grass and white lanes of snow. Jere-Maw and Jingle talk about how she is afraid of heights and how getting up there is the problem. A quick cut to show the slopes and Jingle coming down to meet Jere-Maw at the bottom. Okay. I wasn’t ready for this one. Jere-Maw’s brother has long hair and now we know what Jere-Maw would look like with long hair. Jere-Maw says it’s half-time as his Paget Brewster look-alike sister sits up and gets her filming face on. Jingle sits beside her and does the same. Jingle says they had “fried pickles and whatever that is" as she points to Jere-Maw’s brother’s food and comes up with Boneless wings. Paget Brewster helpfully pushes a water glass aside to help clear the shot for the boneless wings. Jingle spears a boneless wing and estimates her top speed as 5 miles per hour. She cuts the boneless wing apart as Jere-Maw spins the camera to his brother, now identified as Chuck. Chuck got up to 43 miles, or double the Amish horse’s speed. Chuck says that this was only attained by him as he crashed. Jingle says she is essentially a 5 year old as Jere-Maw says they need to get from pizza to French fries. The links to other vlogisodes comes up as Jingle cuts the half of the boneless wing in half and takes a bite. Narrator Jingle glitches back in and says to like subscribe etc. She has added a nice touch of illuminating the subscribe button, but I’m not biting. That's it for this one, folks. Have a great rest of your day, and see you next time! |
