there was this girl who I’ll call jo that I had school with. right now i’m a freshmen but at the time i bullied her, it was basically most of third grade school year. She and I we’re so close, she was real weird in her own special way, and I loved it about her. Pretty much everyone in my class thought she was annoying and i think it began subconsciously rubbing off on me because I began to verbally and even one time physically bully her. Jo had ADHD which she would repeatedly tell me about whenever she would try and explain why she acted certain ways but I didn’t know what it was and didn’t care either. This is an example of how I would bully her (best to memory): Me: can you shut up?? you’re just like a trolls daughter, ugly! (💀). Her: (trying to smile) I’m sorry i just have adhd that’s why i do crazy things! (laugh). I genuinely resent myself for hurting her this bad she never deserves that. The day I finally stopped bullying her, she was following me around begging me to be friends again. I was annoyed and then once other friends were around, I acted out, kicked her leg making her fall to a knee, and called her a bitch. Even after that, she followed me asking to be friends. We passed by a teacher who asked what was going on, to which i’m pretty sure jo probably said she was trying to make us become friends again. The teacher said “You know, you don’t have to be friends,” and that gave like a shockwave feeling of dread, like “no💔…” if ykwim. And you know what makes it worse? Jo came to school with her mom and baby brother, with candy, asking to be my friend again and make up. Dude I didn’t deserve her and she did not deserve any of what I gave her, I hope she’s reached high goals and has the best life she could ever achieve in this lifetime because she deserves that and way more.
Also, our third grade teacher was present most of the times I would bully Jo since we were in the same class. Not ONCE did she ever do anything to stop it which I feel just so terrible about. If that were me, I would make sure no kid in class ever had to endure words or actions from another classmate like that. I want to apologize to Jo, and I really wish I could find her, to give her my deepest apologies. I hope she’s found peace in life and has never faced another rude word or action since then.

I work at a Christian daycare with 3rd-6th grade. This means I get all of the hard questions that I don’t always know how to answer. I do my best to do research so I am answering their questions correctly. Some questions don’t have answers that make a lot of sense so I was hoping someone could help me. Im currently a 4th year BSA student. Katatapos lang ng semesteschool year. Unfortunately, hindi ko napasa ang integrated subjects
For context: Integ subjects consist of 7 subjects. 6 cpale subjects plus updates in pfrs (combination of far theories and aud theories) From this maybe you will have an idea from what school ako hehe.
So the term ended at ang napasa ko lang is rfbt and the updates in pfrs. So I will retake the failed subjects (far prob, afar, ms, tax and aud prac) and mas mahirap na kasi mas mataas na yung passing grade compared sa prev sem.
I assessed myself and the results of my quizzes para malaman ko kung ano kailangan kong iimprove.

• Tax Sobrang hina ng foundation ko sa taxation kaya hindi ako makasabay sa dicussion since hindi naman to first hand view. Anong po dapat kong gawin? Dapat po ba akong bumilo ng income tax and business tax separately? Or yung book reviewer na mismo? Sinong author? May lecture po ba sa yt? Any tips?
  
• Far prob Fave subject ko to kaso nung di ko napasa, napaisip ako kung favorite ko pa rin ba hehe. Hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa rin kaya ang proof of cash, litong lito pa rin ako. Ang reviewer po namin is si sir chris from resa. Sobrang galing ni sir chris magturo. Hirap na ako pag magsasagot na ng problems niya. Meron po ba siyang libro? Ano po dapat kong gawin? Isa po ito sa pinakakinakatakutan kong subject lalo na sa daming nagreretake. Im not sure kung si sir pa rin ang reviewer next sem or baka mag iba. Im just preparing myself for the retake. May ibang libro po ba kayong marerecommend?
  

As of now, marami pa akong oras para makabawi and makapagpractice ng ibang problems. Gusto ko lang po makagraduate para less problem na sa fam ko and makapagstart na makatulong.

For a long time now, I have been using a simple test for chatGPT, to determine if it has pulled its head out yet or not. To this day, it still consistently fails. For being a damn language model, I would think something like this should be an easy task -- it's something I believe a 2nd grade student could easily answer.
Here's what I ask: Give me a word where the 4th letter is a "Y".
I've used many different letters and letter positions for the prompt, I've over-simplified the prompt, and even very thoroughly explained, with examples, of what I want. Regardless of how I word the prompt it fails miserably, over and over and over, yet thinks it's correct. The types of responses I get are something like this:
Here's a word -- "Fairy". The fourth letter is a "Y"!
I then tell chatGPT that the word is incorrect, and to explain to me why. It will easily, consistently say something like "I apologize, I see where I went wrong. Fairy has an "R" in the 4th position and not a "Y". A correct answer would be "Mystery" -- the 4th letter is a "Y".
We then go round and round in circles, with repeated failures. Every time, chatGPT spits out an answer with such confidence, gets it wrong, and is easily able to explain why it's wrong. Yet it never learns from its mistakes and can never correctly answer the prompt. The closest I've been able to get is by asking it to provide this format, and asking it to repeat until it is succeasful:
Attempt 1 -Guess: Fairy -Number of letters: 5 -Letter in 4th position: "R" -Result: Failed
Attempt 2 -Guess: Puddy -Number of letters: 5 -Letter in 4th position: "D" -Result: Failed
. . .
Attempt 14 -Guess: Beryl -Number of letters: 5 -Letter in 4th position: "Y" -Result: Success
I've done this many times, over months or maybe even years of development, and still it spectacularly fails every time.
Something today that I found weird was, after reaching my frustration limit, I said something like "Okay forget all of that, let's start over with a simple request. Give me a 4 letter word". To my amazement, it says "Certainly! 'Holy' is a four letter word where the 4th letter is a Y!".... I then replied with a "wtf, I don't understand you. Give me five more" and it successfully, effortlessly, spit out 5 more 4-letter words that all ended in Y. So in some backwards-ass round-about way, it was able to come up with successful words, but not without a serious amount of effort, failed attempts, and a scrapping of all my prompts. Instead asking for just a 4 letter word with no other criteria, when it was finally like "Jk, here you go!"
Does anybody understand why it would be so terrible at such a basic prompt? It will provide words with the 3rd character a "Y", many guesses where the last character is a "Y", words that start and end with "Y", words of all different character lengths, but never a successful answer where the 4th letter is a "Y".... And again, it doesn't matter what character you ask for or what position of the word you want it, it just fails every time.
Also, does anybody have similar examples of easy prompts where chatGPT miserably fails? I know I've experienced unreliable math answers, and even inconsistent answers to the same math problem, but I don't expect it to be overly great at math (despite being a computer...). It's a language model after all, not a math wizard, so I can excuse that for now. But what else have you guys and gals seen and been shocked that chatGPT just simply cannot do correctly?

hi! im a third year medical technology student from a not so well-known school. ive been really having a hard time and it drastically affected my studies. i was barely surviving i would say. but still, i want to pursue med. in my situation, wherein i already failed 3 of my major subs from my 1st sem in 3rd year, an irreg, and my grades are just average, even below average most times, may chance pa ba na makakapasok ako sa mga big med schools?
st lukes and ustmed are my dream schools. but with my situation, i think its getting farther away. tho may nmat pa, and im still in my third year pa naman, i was hoping HOPING na there would be a slim chance of getting to these med schools.
so, if ever, meron po ba? or if u think wala na po, do u have some suggestions na great medschool pero tumatanggap ng someone like me? and some tips na rin po for a struggling medtech student :(

I have two students who scored perfect on their PMs. I teach history, not reading (but reading standards are in our history curriculum)
These students are Bff's and in my class together. They get very ... What's the word...oh, disrespectful when I redirect them, and were eventually separated from each other from their group bc disruptive. Put into another group, but being 6th graders, acted out. So, off to individual work they go. Trust me, I was in contact with parents and students for a while. Didn't change, so their individual desks and no group work stuck (they were given MULTIPLE opportunities to earn their way back into group work and refused)
I think they decided that since they didn't like me and how strict I was, that they would "make me pay."
From the onset of this semester.
Both failed 3rd quarter. Both failed 4th quarter.
Had conversations about expectations and that they weren't hurting me, they were hurting themselves.
Both turned in almost nothing and failed quizzes/tests either by not taking them (they're online during class time) or just flat out failing then bc they checked out.
Both of them scored a C on their semester exam.
Some teachers I know would sub that grade in for their actual grade in the class. I talked to a couple of people and decided to let their F stand. Meaning summer school.
My mentor talked me through it, played devil's advocate, and made me see both sides.
I am choosing to give the students the grade they earned. F 3rd quarter, F 4th quarter. Even a perfect semester exam wouldn't give them a passing grade.
So they're both going to summer school.
I had an admin speak with both of them about my decision. Admin made it clear that this was the grade they earned, and next year it's gonna be tougher.
Props to admin for having my back, but I'm curious. What's your take?
They learned the content to pass, but never turned in work.
For me, that doesn't fly in the real world, and isn't that part of our job? Actions have consequences?

My stats: 3.8 unweighted GPA, 4.13 weighted on a 5.0 scale
Member of NAHS (National Art Honors Soceity) and of Educators rising, I have over 100 volunteer hours with the two of them combined
Reason for not having so many extracurriculars because I was a part time caregiver for my mother who got extremely sick, talking about going to the ER 2 times a week for months, and my brother who was in constant watch due to poor mental health
Teacher Cadet for 2 years, worked In a 3rd grade and now elementary art classroom
In total, took 6 AP classes and 2 DE
Have a job in a ceramics store as well as being a teacher assistant for summer camps
Designed a uniform for a neighboring highschool drum line, they got 2nd place at a state??? Competition
I am pursuing elementary education but I am interested in enviormental sciences
I would just like to know if I even have a chance against these insane candidates so I can keep my ego in check, much thanks!!

Well after talking with our 8yo daughters teacher and school staff we are making the decision to hold her back and repeat 3rd grade. She has been having a hard time reading for awhile now and even being in Title 1 help classes the past few years have helped but not enough.
Feeling devastated by this is an understatement. My wife and I both love to read and have always encouraged our daughter to and have read to her a lot as well. She has dyslexia and is ADHD as well so we knew things would be rough bug were trying to help out best we can. Her scores for the assment test showed improvements through the year but she is still well below the benchmarks of how she should be doing.
Just feels like I'm letting her down and failing her with this but I know it's for the best.

right now i’m suffering from a flu or cold of some sort. 100.9F fever, clogged nose that i have to twist and turn every minute trying to sleep to be able to breathe, and just feeling like garbage overall. everyone in our house including my parents are sick with the same thing as well because my dad brought home some virus. i know tu* is uncommon with illnesses like this, but of course my emetophobia is not letting me live in peace. it’s telling me i’ll be a part of probably 1% that tu* from a cold or flu. also the last time i tu* was when i was in 3rd grade and i had a bad cough and ended up tu* phlegm. i don’t have a cough rn but i’m scared it’s gonna happen. i skipped dinner last night because my stomach felt weird and i felt n* after consuming pizza in the afternoon and i’m so scared to consume anything now. i really feel like absolute trash with the symptoms and my anxiety on top of that. any words of comfort or support will help :(

I have been searching for this book for YEARS so I would absolutely appreciate any help I can get!! 🙏
I read this book in 3rd grade (2010-2011), it was a picture book that we had gotten at the library near me (idk if it helps but I lived on the East Coast/US). It wasn’t super old looking but I definitely don’t think it was super new either. I believe most of the book was white besides the picture on the front and maybe a little doodle on the back. The picture on the front I think had a couple of the creatures in the book of all different colors.
From what I can remember of the story, there were two groups of similar creatures. They both resembled Moomins and donkeys I’m pretty sure but they were two different colors. The red ones had ears that stood up with a mane like a donkey and the blue ones had long ears that were down and long manes. Both groups stood on two legs, had donkey tails, and had I believe paws. The only things I can remember about the story itself is that the two groups didn’t like each other because they were different colors but two of them were in love? One from each side like a Romeo and Juliet kind of thing. At some point near the end, they each went into the water for some reason (they may have fallen, I’m not sure) and came out with the parts of their bodies that had touched the water being different colors because their colors had been mixed up somehow. I have a very specific memory of this scene and the picture itself. They were holding hands and looking into each other’s eyes smiling while the other creatures all looked at them in awe. The two groups then got along and they would all color themselves with different colors using their tails as paint brushes. They may have also lived in caves but I’m not 100% sure. I know they did hang out in fields at least and lived near a little body of water like a pond.
I think the pictures had a sort of watercolor look to them as well but I'm not 100% certain on that!

In the spirit of the previous post here, I am moving to 4th grade from 3rd. I’m assuming the switch won’t be too drastic but I’d love your favorite 4th specific follows!

I am a first year teacher and I have a child up for a possible retention. (2nd grade) She is tier 3 in reading, and has been since December. She had a very hard time reading, comprehension, writing (sometimes does not even write her full name), cries when I don’t read questions and answers more than once because she can’t sound it out, etc. - we had our meeting today. Mom says she can catch up over summer because she has a 70 in reading so she is “passing” and states that all of this comes down to her child’s lack of focus, how she has a very early birthday and my teaching style because “I keep the kids on computers all the time”. (They stay on them max 25 minutes a day during intervention time on iReady, other 20 mins is in groups). She also states that it may be better for her kid to be retained in 3rd grade instead and she will mesh better with the 3rd grade teachers. This child is emotionally immature, on a BP for most of the year for arguing with staff and peers. She is in the 4TH% in reading. She is also possibly traumatized, I had to report to CPS a couple months back and mom knows I did it most likely. I am TRULY worried about this child. Mom has seen the data all year and she is still on the fence. Please tell me I am not overreacting here. This is insane to me.

I have my Bio EOC on Friday and I really need to get a 5 because my grade this quarter in Bio is a 49% (I got a B the first 2 quarters and a C the 3rd quarter but I didnt turn in assignments) and she said she would only change our grades if we got a 5. She said that if we got a 5 she would make sure that is reflected in our grade, but I’m nervous I won’t get a 5 because if I don’t, I’m cooked.

Hi Reddit. I’m a 19 M and have been having a consistent argument with my parents for a while.
I never wanted to go to college because I thought it was a waste of money. I was homeschooled since 3rd grade and in that time had an opportunity to do dual enrollment but my mom said for some reason I couldn’t when in reality she misunderstood a counselor and I could since I was like 15/16. So basically while one of my friends went ahead and became a nurse I never got to do anything like that to get ahead.
From 17-19 I’ve basically worked 32+ hours a week doing full time jobs from irrigation to chipotle to cleaning offices to now working front desk at a hotel.
I’ve been wanting to learn a “trade” so I recently went with graphic design a couple months ago and began taking an online course. I’ve been very consistent with it but it’s very tiring working a 9-5 four days a week on top of taking care of my physical health as I love weightlifting and also helping my parents out with cooking/running errands etc. and after all that make sure I have time to learn my course.
I have really bad ADHD and have even tried meds but they gave me headaches. So recently I’ve tried asking them if I can just do 3 days of work and spend the other 4 learning as I already have no social life and don’t even play video games or do anything for fun tbh.
They’re saying I spent too long on what I wanted to do as a trade and if I wanna be a man I now have to work full time and figure it out because it’s what they had to do as teens. I’ve tried explaining I’m exhausted mentally and physically and can’t maintain this I feel like I’m going nowhere. They keep saying “welcome to being an adult”.
I’m so confused and just want to learn for my future but they won’t let me. I’m getting pissed and I don’t know what to do. AITAH

After this, I got 83 on another test (Yes,83 again). Does anyone what my average grade would be? Right now its 85 but how about after adding anohter 83

Throwaway account because I see other people do it on here but I don't what it means because I am still new to reddit I was born at 24 weeks, so i have severe adhd, organic brain damage, autism, cerebral palsy. My question is that if mild memory impairment can cause a declining IQ. At 7 years old my iq was in the 80s and then in middle school it was in the 70s. Then since the whole covid thing delayed iq testing. Now senior year school iq testing said in 50s. I do want to mention that in 2022 i did do weed and vape and some cough medicine because I was influence by my cousin and i have really implusive behavior. Oh yeah and I am 18 right now. And last year my math level was in 3rd grade and now it is in 2nd. Please be nice and kind to me. And yeah tell me what this may sound like thank you.
