Aflac delayed claim processing

Finally Got Tokens!
I was able to claim them on the day they were released (the delayed release day) but my TW still showed a zero balance for many days. On etherscan however it showed the tokens as sent. I tried several times re-importing the CA and it would show a balance of 721 for a moment, but then when going back to the home screen of TW it would show a zero balance again. Using the address provided by u/the-one-and-only-vimi (sorry if I got that wrong friend!) I tried re-impirting today and my balance appeared. I am pretty positive I was using the right CA before, but who knows, maybe I wasn't and didn't realize it....

2024.05.21 21:53 Ok_Lynx_9558 TPD Discharge & Earning Income Impact on TPD Discharge

Hi All,
  1. Can you receive TPD Discharge approval (obtained via a doctor signing/certifying the form) without being on SSA or SSDI and without claiming it?
  2. If "yes" to the above question, does the TPD process entail informing or conctacting the SSA or SSDI in any way at any time?
  3. If "no" to the above question, it appears that you can earn as much money as you'd like over the 3-year period, as income is not monitored, correct?
  4. If "yes" to the above question, would this garner the IRS's attention or would the income/submited tax return be processed as usual?
If any can assist in answering these questions, then that would be great.
Thanks

2024.05.21 21:51 RedeemedWanderer Solana Unveiled?

Solana's journey is plagued by centralization concerns, casting a shadow over its purported decentralization. The network's governance is heavily concentrated in the hands of a select few, with vital decisions dictated by a centralized authority. This top-down governance model undermines the autonomy of network participants and raises questions about the integrity of Solana's ecosystem. Moreover, Solana's validator ecosystem is dominated by a handful of large players, forming de facto cartels that wield disproportionate influence over the network. These validator cartels collude to maintain their grip on power, stifling competition and centralizing control in the hands of a privileged few.
Solana has been fraught with repeated instances of network outages, undermining its claim of being a reliable blockchain platform. Let's scrutinize these incidents with meticulous detail:
December 2021 Outage: On December 8, 2021, Solana plunged into darkness as a major network outage halted transactions for over 17 hours. This downtime not only frustrated users but also highlighted the fragility of Solana's infrastructure, raising serious questions about its reliability.
September 2022 Incident: In September 2022, Solana was rocked by yet another debilitating outage, lasting for nearly 10 hours. Transactions ground to a halt, leaving users stranded and transactions in limbo. The incident underscored Solana's vulnerability to systemic failures and eroded trust in its ability to deliver on its promises of speed and scalability.
April 2023 Downtime: On April 12, 2023, Solana experienced another crippling downtime, lasting for approximately 8 hours. This outage disrupted transactions and exposed the network's Achilles' heel, further denting its reputation as a reliable blockchain platform.
Comparatively, networks like Ethereum and Bitcoin have maintained near-perfect uptime, standing as bastions of reliability and resilience in the blockchain space.
Centralization at its Core
Solana's purported decentralization is a facade, masking the reality of centralized control lurking beneath the surface. Let's dissect the centralization of Solana in granular detail:
Governance Concentration: Unlike truly decentralized networks where governance is distributed among a diverse array of stakeholders, Solana's governance is heavily concentrated in the hands of a select few. Vital decisions concerning protocol upgrades, network operations, and ecosystem development are made by a centralized authority, disenfranchising the broader community and undermining the principles of decentralization.
Validator Cartels: Solana's validator ecosystem is dominated by a handful of large players, forming de facto cartels that wield disproportionate influence over the network. These validator cartels collude to maintain their grip on power, stifling competition and centralizing control in the hands of a privileged few.
Protocol Changes: Solana's protocol changes are dictated by a centralized authority, bypassing the consensus mechanisms that underpin truly decentralized networks. This top-down approach to governance undermines the autonomy of network participants and erodes trust in the integrity of Solana's ecosystem.
Manipulation Rife
Solana's susceptibility to market manipulation is a pressing concern, with incidents of manipulation casting a shadow over its reputation. Let's unravel the web of manipulation ensnaring Solana:
Pump-and-Dump Schemes: Solana has been plagued by orchestrated pump-and-dump schemes, where coordinated groups artificially inflate the price of SOL tokens before dumping them on unsuspecting investors. These schemes exploit market liquidity and prey on the greed of speculators, leaving retail investors nursing heavy losses.
Wash Trading: Solana's markets are rife with wash trading, a deceptive practice where traders artificially inflate trading volumes to create a false impression of liquidity and demand. This manipulation tactic distorts market metrics and undermines the integrity of Solana's price discovery mechanism, eroding trust in its market dynamics.
Insider Trading: Solana's centralized governance structure creates fertile ground for insider trading, where privileged insiders exploit non-public information to gain an unfair advantage in the market. This unethical practice undermines the principles of fairness and transparency, sowing seeds of distrust in Solana's ecosystem.
Entanglement with Centralized Exchanges:
Solana's close ties with centralized exchanges further exacerbate its centralization woes, consolidating power in the hands of a select few and compromising its purported decentralization. Let's dissect the entanglement between Solana and centralized exchanges:
Exchange Collusion: Solana's listing on centralized exchanges is often marred by collusion between exchange operators and Solana insiders. Listing fees, market-making agreements, and preferential treatment create conflicts of interest that undermine the integrity of Solana's market infrastructure.
Market Surveillance: Centralized exchanges wield significant influence over Solana's markets, conducting surveillance and enforcement actions to maintain order and compliance. This centralized control contradicts the decentralized ethos of blockchain and exposes Solana to the risks of regulatory scrutiny and market manipulation.
Custodial Risks: Solana's reliance on centralized exchanges for custody services exposes users to custodial risks, including exchange hacks, insolvency, and mismanagement. Entrusting assets to centralized custodians undermines the principles of self-custody and financial sovereignty, compromising the security and integrity of Solana's ecosystem.
The Cartel Conundrum
Solana's centralized governance structure creates fertile ground for cartel formation, where privileged insiders collude to maintain their dominance and influence. These cartels wield disproportionate power over the network, stifling competition and undermining the principles of decentralization. In contrast, Ethereum's decentralized governance model fosters inclusivity and transparency, empowering the broader community to participate in decision-making and governance processes. This decentralized approach mitigates the risk of cartel formation and ensures that Ethereum remains true to its ethos of decentralization and open participation.
Conclusion
Solana's troubled history of chronic network outages, centralized control, market manipulation, and entanglement with centralized exchanges paints a damning portrait of a platform plagued by systemic flaws and inherent vulnerabilities. In contrast, networks like Ethereum, PulseChain and Bitcoin stand as pillars of reliability and decentralization, offering a safe haven for investors seeking refuge from the stormy seas of cryptocurrency. As the saying goes, forewarned is forearmed – and in the treacherous landscape of cryptocurrency, exercising caution is paramount. Solana's tumultuous journey serves as a sobering reminder of the perils lurking beneath the surface of seemingly promising blockchain platforms. Proceed with caution, for the path ahead is fraught with danger.

2024.05.21 21:51 buchannon Non-USA states/territories to be in without a USA passport

I'm a USA citizen currently, but soon applying for the Spanish non lucrative visa. As part of the visa application process, I need to mail my passport in.
I also want to claim the foreign earned income exclusion (FEIE) meaning I can't be in the USA for more than a month in the year total.
Are there any non-USA countries I can reside in temporarily while my passport is not in my hands?
I was reading about USA/Canada NEXUS card which looks promising, but it says the processing time is 12-14 months and I'm hoping to start my visa process sooner than that.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I applied for TDIU finished the C&P exam for PTSD they didn’t care about the knee.
Just don’t get why I have to go through the whole process like a normal claim if I pre qualify for all the requirements for TDIU
Have not worked or went to school in 8 years. Both my conditions have notes from Afghanistan by the doctors the knee being combat related and anxiety disorder post Afghanistan.
If any Raters can chime in why I would be denied or if my odds are looking solid for approval.

2024.05.21 21:34 Eastern-Acadia-5079 Massive Delay- Compensation Denied. What now?

On April 27, I was supposed to fly Westjet from Edmonton to Rome (connection thru Calgary). We were waiting at the gate and they announce the flight was delayed an hour. Finally, they called to begin boarding. A few minutes after, they announced the flight had been delayed for 21 hours from then (so around the same time the following day).
I was waiting at the gate to talk to the WestJet agent about other options to get to Europe sooner. The agent told the family in front of us that the flight was being rescheduled because they weren’t able to have a pilot (or enough pilots) on the plane. She then left the desk as swarms of people were trying to ask questions..
However, the text message from Westjet said a totally different (and in my opinion, bullshit) reason: “The preliminary reason for the change is due to unscheduled aircraft maintenance and may change as new information is received.”
My family got a hotel and had to stay overnight in Calgary. The hotel and food/drinks we had to pay for all out of pocket. Thankfully, we did leave the following day and made it to Rome.
Given the massive delay and our unexpectedly long stay in Calgary, we submitted compensation requests through WestJet to cover our food and hotel stay.
Today we got an email saying that our compensation requests are fully denied because the delay was because of “unscheduled aircraft maintenance”. I called WestJet to ask for a more thorough exclamation and they said there’s nothing they can do and there is no escalation process. They said if I have any concerns, I need to take it up with the Canadian Transportation Agency.
I went on the Canadian transportation agencies website and they say complain complaints take over 18 months to look into.
TL DR: Our flight from Calgary to Rome was delayed 21hrs. WestJet is refusing to compensate (for hotel and food) on the grounds that the delay was because of unscheduled maintenance. Has anyone had a similar experience with Westjet or other airlines with compensation refusal for such a substantial delay. Any help/guidance/suggestions are appreciated!

2024.05.21 21:34 FoolishMythology Grief has just hit me and I want to cancel a trip at last minute

I (27M) lost my dad in January, he committed suicide. I’m at university just now and he died 2 weeks before the semester started, he had no will and I’m his only next of kin so the only one who could sort out his estate. I was doing that while going to classes and handing in assignments and also arranging the funeral in between classes. I don’t think I was able to actually process anything because I had to story everything myself.
Fast forward to now, I started getting bad anxiety a few weeks ago, I think I it’s delayed grief, and in 10 days I’m supposed to be going to Sweden with my friend (28F). I’m just far too anxious right now and experiencing physical symptoms from it and I don’t think I can do it. I got citalopram today and also met with a therapist who I’ll be seeing regularly from now on. I just feel awful because I know she’s been looking forward to it and I don’t know if she’ll understand. I haven’t cancelled yet because I’m hoping things will get better but I need to decide by the 28th or we don’t get a refund on the hotel. I feel like an awful friend and I just needed to vent about this.

2024.05.21 21:22 MZarathustra57 Should we really tell people you're thinking of dying...?

Every single time I see someone die from a suicide, everyone they knew claims to not have known they were in so much pain and they urge others who feel the same way to talk to someone about it...
let's leave what it takes to even be able to talk to people about it aside for a minute....
I understand why they didn't talk, if at all it's true that they didn't...
As my time I feel, draws closer, I keep wondering what they will say after I go... sometimes I'm tempted to ask them.
I've talked about my struggles to people around me even my parents and siblings, I don't think anyone who knows me well didn't see it coming. No one did anything tangible to help and I don't blame them they have their own things I guess.
But at least for my own sake I know I've delayed it for many years in the hope that a miracle may happen, I've done all I know how to do and I've told people but no one including me has the resources in their arsenal to help me. I will go with a resignation of sorts not anger.

2024.05.21 21:18 RunKristine Mental Health Denied

Hi everyone. I have been helping my husband with the disability claim process and we just found out that he was denied the mental health claim. I don't understand how that is possible that after a 20 minute Zoom conversation that the evaluator denied any rating. He has seen someone at the VA's mental health department a few times and he has been on antidepressants for a few years. How is it possible that he was denied? I am going to appeal the decision, but can anyone tell me if I can write a statement as his spouse and send that in with the appeal? What other supporting documentation can we send?
His entire claim was submitted by an advocate that works for our state and she was less than helpful.

2024.05.21 21:17 Particular-Tone-5999 [NC] Salary Employee paid hourly

I've been working for a company in North Carolina for 13 months now. My letter of intent stated that I would receive a monthly salary of $6,250. This is my first salaried position.
Inl work remote and my first month, April of 2023, I had some family medical issues going on. My mother had just been admitted to an ICU and these were things I had discussed during my interview process (3 interviews, 2 with hiring manager and operation manager and 1 with CEO). The family stuff was no issue; when filling out my first timesheet for the week the operations manager instructed me to to fill out time sheets with Loss of Pay for the days in which I had hours cut short.. be it to go pick up my mom, or if I was sick, etc (example, work 6 hours and then pick up and sit with my mom for 2 hours would be 6 hours of work and 2 hours of "Loss of Pay".
However, in October of 2023, I had a vacation I was planning. The company had offered me 3 weeks of PTO and 1 week of sick leave. These benefits were not listed on my account through our 3rd party payroll provider. I reached out to our operations manager (we don't, or didn't, have an official HR person. The operations manager said he would get my PTO and sick leave time put into then system and told me to have a nice vacation.
The time off benefits were finally added to my account in March of this year (2024). I also noticed on this month's (march) paycheck that my pay was finally at the offered amount of $6250.00. It stood out to me as it was for 173.33 hours (which I didn't understand what the significance was at the time) because I usually notice my hours marked at about 160-165 hours a month - they don't like giving out overtime hours. Then I noticed that my paystubs, even since my first one in April of 2023, say my rate is $6250, and that my "Basis of Pay" is salary.
Now that my April paycheck has come in, I notice it is exactly as my March paystub: 173.33 hours, $6,250.
However, my paychecks prior would range show my hours as the time actually put in (ie, 128 for April of 2023) and the dollar amount would be prorated from my salary to what seemed like an hourly amount ($4,641 in the case of April 2023).
Or, as another example, Jan 2024 has me at 162.83 hours, Pay $5,871.
Anytime I missed a single day, or a partial day, due to sickness (or anything else for that matter) I was instructed to use "Loss of Pay" on my timesheets. Also, I recall that my start date was April 3rd of 2023. My computer (a desktop) was mailed to me from the company and was suppose to arrive the Saturday prior. The mailing company lost the package and it was delayed. The monitors came in April 4th and the tower came in April 5th. I was ready and willing to work those days and it was out of my control that the company equipment necessary for my job had been delayed in post. Though.. I was also instructed to mark those first 2 days (April 3rd, 4th) as well has half of the 3rd day (April 5th, because the tower arrived at around noon) as "Loss of Pay".
Does this seem right? To me it almost seems like when I first started someone did not set up my payroll information correctly (PTO and Benefits not in system, appeared to be getting hourly pay instead of salary).. and then when someone went to correct and enter in my PTO benefits, the noticed I was being paid hourly and quietly corrected it to salary.
Here are some paystubs used in examples, personal information and company information removed:

2024.05.21 21:15 Timely-Sun7973 Need Help: creating a pipeline using airflow dag

Hey I'm kinda new to IT field but I really wanna learn this. so I'll really appreciate if any one can provide me a sample code or fix the below code format (basically i use gpt, just to understand it better)
  1. Our website has a homepage where visitors can either sign up or request a demo. When a client signs up or requests a demo, it triggers two separate DAGs (Directed Acyclic Graphs). The first DAG sends an email to the sales team, notifying them about the new lead generated, and another email to the client, welcoming them to the platform. The second DAG stores the client's information in the `lead_generated` collection.
  2. After the lead generation DAG is completed, another DAG is triggered periodically (e.g., daily). This DAG retrieves the current client information (name, email, and phone number) from the `lead_generated` collection and sends a reminder email to the sales team. The email contains the client details so that the sales team can follow up with them manually via phone calls. Once the reminder email is sent, all the clients' information is removed from the `lead_generated` collection and stored in the `negotiation` collection, with the initial `negotiated` field set to `'waiting'` or `0`.
  3. During the phone call negotiations with the clients, the sales team marks the negotiation status as `'success'` or `1` if the negotiation is successful, or `'reject'` or `-1` if the negotiation is unsuccessful. An independent DAG is triggered every few minutes to check the `negotiated` field for each entry in the `negotiation` collection. If the `negotiated` field is `0` (or `'waiting'`), the DAG skips that entry. If the `negotiated` field is `1` (or `'success'`), the DAG stores that entry's information in the `negotiated` collection. If the `negotiated` field is `-1` (or `'reject'`), the DAG stores that entry's information in the `rejected` collection.
  4. In the `negotiated` collection, each client's entry will have a `package` field (e.g., `p1`, `p2`, `p3`, or `p4`). Based on the package information, another DAG is triggered to initiate the payment process with Razorpay.
  5. Once the payment is successful, a DAG is triggered to onboard the client based on their chosen package. The client's information is then stored in the `lead_closed` collection and removed from the `negotiated` collection.

2024.05.21 21:10 BleepBlimpBop $RILY DD: Long List of Short Seller Claims --- DEBUNKED with proof!

Ever-shifting Short Seller Claims

The short sellers attacking RILY in 2023-2024 have been relentless (currently 57% of float sold short per FinViz), with an ever-shifting list of wild accusations.
It's sickening to watch them compile a never-ending list of baseless wild theories and claims to support their short positions, which are demonstrably false. But as each is proved false, they pivot to new claims, and/or change the goalposts.
The sheer volume of shifting claims makes it hard to track how despotic they are with their "platform," and how many falsehoods they've spun. Even for someone who watched it in real-time, for almost a year

Compiled & Debunked

Sunlight kills vampires. To that end, I've compiled a list of (i) claimants (ii) claims (iii) reality (iv) definitive source proving reality.

Why Did They Target RILY?

One of the most vocal short sellers, Nate Koppikar (who also introduced Marc Cohodes to the "opportunity") has a fund Orso Partners. Based on their SEC registration document, this is their investment thesis:
"The Account’s investment objectives are to achieve capital appreciation primarily by identifying and selling short marketable equity securities of underfollowed and complex companies with misleading or corrective disclosures through a research-intensive process. The Account employs a short-biased investment strategy with an emphasis on primarily small to mid-cap companies that are underfollowed and complex (i.e., companies with market capitalizations of less than $5 billion which the market does not yet have a wellformed bull and/or bear perspective)."
RILY fits their description. The icing on the cake was the relatively large market cap, and the relatively small float. Given extremely high insider ownership (32.9% of shares per the proxy), and limitations on when and how insiders can trade, the "free float" of the stock (i.e., the shares that regularly trade) is very small for the size of the company. Moreover, the setup would only get better - given insiders have consistently used their free cash to buy additional shares hand-over-fist (further reducing the float).
That meant, with relatively small amounts of capital, the short sellers could shove around the stock price. That ability to move price opens another profit avenue - taking large derivative positions (buying puts, and selling calls), and shoving the price (or allowing it to drift up) to profit all along the way. It looked so good, the stock has been the highest-shorted on the US indices for several months. Even after the release of the 10-K, shares remain "hard to borrow" with elevated borrow fees.

Debunked Claims

The claims made by vocal short sellers could fill a book. Most were outrageous and fanciful when they were proposed. Virtually all have objectively debunked. This isn't a comprehensive list, as their claims are too numerous and varied. But it paints an illuminating picture.
With a track record this poor, one would expect the short sellers to exit - rather than continuing to spin new narratives. Perhaps the continued attacks are their exit strategy to avoid bankruptcy... Well, #Bullish.
With the highest short interest of all US stocks (albeit likely decreased from the highs of ~76% of the float), I think this is more than ripe for a return to fair value - or well above, if a short squeeze occurs.
Note: this sub disallows image posts. There is a similar post in the RILYStock sub which contains virtually all source images for the claim in the comments (too many images to embed in the post). The source images are illuminating.
Note that the list below deliberately excludes three types of posts/claims from the short sellers:
A) Juvenile personal attacks and attempts to character assassinate and dox a long list of people (RILY CEO, RILY new hires, RILY clients, Marcum the auditor, Marcum's lead audit professional, any firm or individual publicly posting a bull thesis on RILY, etc.).
B) Those that make no objective claims, but simply exist as a product of malicious degeneracy (like pictures of roasted pigs in ovens labeled Bryant Riley the CEO, photoshopped pictures of the CEO in prison chains next to convicted felons, video of an obese woman barely able to walk being gored by a bull labeled Mrs. Riley the CEO's wife, etc.).
C) Those that are impossible for short sellers to know, and impossible to objectively verify (e.g., Marc Cohodes claiming a single RILY trader front runs the CEOs personal short trades in front of clients taking following the firm's bullish advice on those stocks, to guarantee profits).

2024.05.21 21:03 Erwinblackthorn Brandon Sanderson is Woke

New Flash everyone: the guy who hangs out with Daniel Greene(a pro-fairy rights socialist), is loved by redditors, and got a Hugo award is… woke. Who would have ever seen that coming? But, thanks to Jon Del Arroz making a video about it on May 18th, I am here to repeat the news back to you so there is an easily accessible source as to HOW he’s woke. Everything was revealed back in January 2023, but I want people to understand the implications and narrative that he’s presenting when he says his concerns about fairy rights. By the end of this, you will realize that people calling themselves Christian does not cause them to be immune to wokeness.
In fact, with how Christianity has influenced wokeness into existence, it’s likely a lot of "Christians" are what we can call “first wave wokeness”.
For context, Brandon Sanderson is a Mormon, part of the Latter-Day Saints (LDS). Mormonism is almost exclusively a US issue, and I’ve also noticed that there are a lot of youtubers who tend to be Mormon women(probably because they have other women in the house to do the chores). These people are great with money, big in business, and their church is anti-fairy. A lot of problems the fairy-rights activists have are with Mormon churches, which is strange for Europeans to witness with how open a lot of their churches are, outside of the US. Protestant, evangelical, unitarian, the national church of Denmark, it’s a big list.
But in 2008, Brandon wrote an essay about his Mormon beliefs on how Dumbledore from Harry Potter liked to have wands stirred around in his brown cauldron. His quote:
How does this relate to Dumbledore? I'm not trying to present him as an antagonist or a villain. All I'm saying is that if you believe in the truth of your message, then you shouldn't care if someone decent, respected, and intelligent is depicted as believing differently from yourself. Decent, respected, and intelligent people can be wrong--and you can still respect them. It's okay. That doesn't threaten our points, since we (theoretically) believe that they are eternal and stronger than any argument we could make.
Back in this time, Brandon had only been an author for 3 years, but he won an award for his first published book, Elantris. He was being careful with his words, and his take is considered liberal. He was trying to defend the backlash JK Rowling received for her (poor) choice of virtue signaling and tried to mend this defense with his own religion. Mentioning his religious views is what got him canceled back then, which he later apologized for in 2011:
I cannot be deaf to the pleas of \[fairy\] couples who want important things, such as hospital visitation rights, shared insurance, and custody rights. At the same time, I accept and sustain the leaders of the LDS church. I believe that a prophet of God has said that widespread legislation to approve \[fairy\] marriage will bring pain and suffering to all involved.
He was not backing down from his religion yet. His goal post moved to the legal ramifications of the US, which are separate from his church(remember, church and state, supposed to be separate in the US), but he was still saying his religion wanted him to oppose people calling it a marriage and having it in churches. This was a second “cancellation” that didn’t go very far, mostly because he was able to use religion as an excuse for his take, with the Christian Cake Packed With Fudge Scandal not happening yet(2018).
Fast forward to 2023, after he hangs out with a bunch of woke youtubers, and we get a new quote from Brandon:
The church’s first prophet, Joseph Smith, famously taught, “I teach them correct principles and they govern themselves.” My current beliefs are where I’ve arrived on my journey, as I attempt to show the love that Jesus Christ taught. I look forward to seeing further changes in the church, and I work to make sure I am helping from within it to create a place that is welcoming of \[fairy\] people and ideas. I would love, for example, to see the church recognize \[fairy\] marriage among its members. Both temporally and eternally. I would support ordaining \[tinkerbell\] men to the priesthood. (And would support the ordination of women, though that is another issue.)
That’s interesting. It seems like he made a complete 180 on his stance, claims that he’s always believed this new stance, blames Jesus for this new stance, and then doubles down on this new stance by adding female ordination(becoming a priest and higher) and even Tinkerbells. As time went on, he decided that his religion was totally wrong about fairies, and this 13 year difference means way more than the nearly 200 years Mormonism has been around. I believe a fellow Mormon, Shadversity, would love to have a discussion about how any of this makes sense, but I’m starting to feel that he’s the same way. Who knows if Ethan Van Sciver understands Mormonism as well as Brandon Sanderson does, with how easy it is to manipulate prophecies and reinterpret scripture.
But that’s been the point for a while, right?
Wokeness is here to restructure both historical evidence and even religions, in order to shift cultures and social institutions to obey this progressive change. Words are changed in the dictionary, social “norms” are changed to be updated for a “modern audience”, and postmodernists like Foucault were able to trick college kids into thinking the Greeks were all pixie fairies. Once a critical theorist gets their hands on something with power, their goal is not to keep it as it is. It is to keep it for themselves. This is why you will hear these people say everything is subjective, which is secret code for “Look at me: I’m the captain of reality now.”
But wait, it gets better! Brandon Sanderson continued with:
Back in 2007, I was mostly known only in my community, not to the world at large. The essay, then, was directed at my local community, and was more controversial among them (for being too liberal) than it was controversial to the world at large for being \[fairy\]phobic. That might surprise you, if you’ve read the excerpts that often float around the internet. This was mostly me trying to encourage other members of the church to be more open and welcoming of \[fairy\] characters and ideas.
That said, the essay does display the casual bigotry common to people who (like myself) have lived lives where we haven’t had to deal with some of the issues common to the lives of people suffering discrimination. Many of the assertions (such as my view on \[fairy\] marriage) do not reflect my current stance. After writing it, and interacting with those who found it objectionable–even painful–I came to understand them and their experiences better. Though they did not owe me that honor, they gave it freely.
You see, he's honored to hear about the life of a bug chaser.
Brandon cares deeply about the pain he caused to his wallet… I mean the fairies who saw his essay. He was an award winning author back then, he didn’t know it would be a global thing. It was supposed to be only seen by people in Utah, that’s it. This is what we call: bullshit. The woke rely heavily on gaslighting and pretending they’re ignorant of everything, while telling others that they need to learn and understand EVERYTHING about a subject before they are even able to mention it.
He was already big on reddit, he knew all about his fandom, and he knew about his publisher, Tor. The only thing that really changed is that now he is unable to stick to being liberal and he has to present himself as progressive. Why? Well, the new Amazon deal happened recently, and he’s the writer of the series The Wheel of Time. As if Rings of Power wasn’t evidence enough of how Amazon mistreats their properties, Brandon was forced to erase his own past, like Agent J in Men in Black, burning his own hands in the process.
I’m not surprised that he’s woke or even that Christians are falling to this woke inquisition. When I said first wave wokeness, I would like to clarify why it’s the catalyst for all of this stupidity. Wokeness is not of Christian values, but instead a parasite upon Christianity, in the same way Gnosticism and Satanism would be. When Christianity started to allow new sects, and a lot of these were considered valid, the crazy sex cults of the 60s opened the floodgates for a bunch of crazy reinterpretations. It’s the same way as how there are still circles of Christianity that go for flat earth theory or say that dinosaurs don’t exist, with these people usually at the forefront of the home-schooling movement.
It’s not that home-schooling is bad by itself, it’s that bad people use it to then have the good people using it be wrongfully grouped into the same area, in the same way gun-ownership does. This type of bastardization has always been a problem in the US, due to the lack of authority over what makes something categorized as such a thing, thanks to liberalism allowing the freedom to constantly change things. As time went on, this liberalism changed into progressivism, with the key difference being that liberalism is an allowance of change while progressivism is an enforced change. The liberalism of the 1800s allowed the Confederates to claim Christianity approved of their enslavement of black people, by blaming the story of Ham and using scripture to claim it was okay to enslave certain people for generations. We always see this strange cherry-picking of scripture from fake Christians, and this problem has expanded into the Vatican itself with the current and following generations of Popes.
A lot of times, we’ll hear news about how Christians are under attack, a bakery is targeted to expose discrimination, or even where people claim they were banned from twitch for being Christian. But what they get wrong is that they are in the same circle as liberal and progressive Christianity, their openness created this weakness to tourism, and most Christian circles have been taken over in the US since before the 60s. The south has a culture of being liberal, Mormons have a culture of being liberal, protestants are very liberal, all because the US began as a liberal culture in the form of classical liberalism. The libertarian argument is always used by these liberal groups, that changes into the progressive enforcement, and over the years these liberal people get infected by the virus.
Add money to the mix, and we have ourselves an endless chain of liberal minded people falling to wokeness. The “redemption” narrative, along with original sin, from Christianity is currently its main weakness. The appeal to ignorance is another weakness, with people playing skeptic as a snake slithers through the grass. Christianity isn’t the problem by itself, it’s the naivety that comes from blind faith, which then expands into a contradictory blind faith that people are good inside, only to later wonder why everything is changing for the worse when evil people are put in charge. Fantasy stories have been under attack by the woke for quite a while, long before they tried to appropriate Tolkien with Rings of Power.
The fantasy that is controlled by the woke is an extension to their attack on religion, because to them a fantasy story is no different than a bible. Mythological presentation, symbolic themes, a dream-like world to present morals to follow; the entire thing has been used by Brandon to then have him later claim that he’s always had fairy characters since the beginning. Sure, his religion says fairies are bad, but then he virtue signals by claiming he’s always made fiction about how they’re good. He would never say this if the publishing world made sense and if publishers were the way they were in the 1950s. That is because he would never have to choose between religion and money back then, with money always mattering more to the typical materialist.
I’m sure people will say that I’m being hard on Christians, or that I’m evil for saying this, or even that I am a satanist for noticing. These people would only be angry at the truth being said, which is the opposite of what Christianity teaches. Fantasy writers, like Brandon, have a lot of supporters, with this support merging between the woke and Mormons. So many feel that they need to make sense of their fandom, so they claim their religion is wokeness, converting it into blind Satanism. This is far from the truth and we need to condemn those who focus solely on radical subjectivity.
Especially if they blame God for their stupid takes, like how Brandon does now.

Just posting to see if anyone has any advice on what’s worked for them to finally get paid from paid leave- the entire process has been a nightmare, from them messing up personal information on my application so they couldn’t find my employer and now being stuck in a wage redetermination that’s been going on for 4+ weeks and all I’m told is they’ll process my claim once that department has processed the wage redetermination. Starting application process beginning of March so any tips of what’s worked for you or information on how long it took you to be paid is appreciated.

2024.05.21 20:58 PhrostytheSnowman Forbidden Technique: Body Sacrifice

Tldr: the process of RCT (converting CE to RCE) can be inverted so that some of the positive energy that forms the body can be sacrificed to produce massive amounts of CE. This technique is extremely dangerous and will almost certainly result in the death of the sorcerer unless it is perfectly controlled.
This is an idea I had when I was thinking of different techniques from DragonBall that could be adapted to JJK. Most of the techniques in DragonBall equate to simple CE manipulation, but Tien's Ki-Ko-Ho (aka TriBeam) inspired me.
Ki-Ko-Ho is said to use "life energy" which somehow is different from "ki" in DBZ, but this isn't really expanded on as far as I can remember. Master Roshi claims that each use of the Ki-Ko-Ho shortens Tien's lifespan, and we saw that spamming the Shin Ki-Ko-Ho against Semi-Perfect Cell nearly killed Tien.
So this is where we move to JJK. It's established that the bodies of Curses are made of negative energy (aka Curse Energy) while the bodies of Humans are made of positive energy. This is why Curses can easily heal themselves with CE while advanced sorcerers must perform the Reverse Curse Technique to generate positive energy (aka Reverse Curse Energy).
In a previous era, a Limitless+Six Eyes (LL+6E) sorcerer survived a near-death battle by attaining a certain level of enlightenment and unlocking the Reverse Curse Technique. Still shaken by the experience, the sorcerer began to meditate for an extended period of time. This sorcerer had tremendous CE output but a fairly limited CE pool, and he was seeking some solution this limitation. Eventually, he reached a bone-chilling conclusion.
In the Reverse Curse Technique (as explained by Gojo), two bundles of CE can be multiplied against each other the produce RCE/positive energy, but the technique requires tremendous amounts of CE and is inefficient: the sum of the 2 CE bundles is greater than the amount of RCE produced. The sorcerer concluded that the RCT process could theoretically be inverted: by using a small amount of CE to split a bundle of positive energy, a tremendous amount of CE would be released into the body to temporarily supercharge CE manipulation, reinforcement, or even one's CT. The amount of CE released is equivalent to the amount of positive energy sacrificed.
Of course, this technique would be extremely dangerous and requires supreme levels of CE control even attempt (possibly even awareness of one's Soul). (1) The process is far more complicated than simply cutting off part of one's body. It requires near-impossible levels of CE control. (2) It quite literally involves the sorcerer sacrificing a part of their body: if too much is sacrificed, the sorcerer will simply die. (3) As the process is comparable to nuclear fission, insufficient CE control can lead the RCE-CE conversion to spiral out of control, resulting in an explosion of CE that will certainly kill the sorcerer.
In practical use, the Body Sacrifice Technique is a self-imposed binding vow and thus follows the rules of self-imposed binding vows. By sacrificing some part of their body, a sorcerer gains a massively increased CE pool. This effect is permanent as long as the sorcerer doesn't heal the sacrificed portion of their body (and no one else heals it for them). For a sorcerer with deep understanding of their own Soul, an unbreakable Binding Vow can be placed: by irreversibly sacrificing part of their body and soul (akin to Idle Transfiguration), the sorcerer will gain even more CE than with the regular Body Sacrifice Technique. However, as seen in Naobito vs Jogo, losing part of one's body can disrupt a sorcerers muscle memory, throws off their balance in combat, and could even interfere with properly using CT or DE. In addition, the extreme surge of CE may also damage the rest of the body similar to how Goku's Kaio-ken can damage his body when overused.
Upon finishing his meditation, the LL+6E sorcerer attempted a small sacrifice as a proof-of-concept: he gave up a pinky on a single hand. He felt his CE pool expand rapidly, nearly doubling its original amount, but there was more: every inch of his body felt on fire and a deep nausea grew in his stomach. Despite the pain dulling his focus, he attempted to push the process further. He attempted to sacrifice a second finger; before he could react, half of his arm was gone. Instant inversion of the process to RCT saved the sorcerer's life, and he concluded that the Body Sacrifice Technique (BST) was far too dangerous to teach to any sorcerer less skilled than himself. He recorded the BST process and his annotations on a single paper, then placed upon it many powerful seals and locked it away in the Gojo Clan Headquarters. It is unknown if any modern sorcerer's have knowledge of Body Sacrifice Technique.

2024.05.21 20:58 GrantGorewood Folklore series further postponed until June 2024

I had hoped to bring the folklore series back on May 10th, but after the post thirteen ago my life got extremely hectic overnight. Not only that, but I realized that I had only gotten three stories out for France back in February, and only doing a little over half a months worth of stories instead of a full month would be a disservice to the Folklore of France. So I have decided the Folklore series will return on June 1st, 2024; and I will be back to regular posting at that time. This means I can dedicate a full month to the folklore of France, and have time to sort out what’s going on right now.
As for what caused me to postpone again, I’m in the process of finding a new job and my grandmother hurt herself the day after I posted the announcement. I have been stopping over to help her out a lot. On top of that my mother overworked herself to the point she can’t do much, so I had to heavily help out at the family business while still recovering from the whiplash and lingering effects of my concussion. It’s a lot of physical labor and leaves me utterly exhausted and drained in the evenings, drained to the point I can barely think let alone write a story.
I’m sorry for yet another delay in the return of the Folklore series. I wanted it to return this month, but it will have to wait until June.
However I will post a few non folklore stories through the rest of the month, because it’s been a bit since I wrote a proper 2SH and I probably need a bit of practice.
Note: Ollie is doing fine and growing out a lovely coat that I will share when the folklore series returns in June.
See you in June, Grant Gorewood
