This calories seem to high....
For reference, I am 5.7 tall, 95 kg, and 17 years old. According to the app, I need to consume 2.5k calories a week in order to lose 1/2 kg. That seems extremely high to me because I tried the same thing using different apps and calorie calculators, and the range of calories needed to lose half a kilogram per week on those other apps is between 1.7 and 1.9k. I am really enjoying this app, far more than some others, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.29 11:56 calciobeppe Restaurant Recommendations For Athens

Hi everyone. My wife and I will be heading to Athens in a few days for a 4 day trip and were looking to get some tips from the experts of Reddit on places to eat. I rarely post on Reddit but do use it as a resource for research across many items. Generally speaking, my wife and I would prefer to eat local cuisine, and at places that are well liked by locals as well.
We are staying at Trendy Hotel Athens (8, Klisovis str, 106 77, Athens, GR) so any good places near there is a plus, but not a dealbreaker. We tend to walk anywhere from 20-25k steps when we go on holiday and don’t mind moving around for a place that’s worth checking out. Also very comfortable using public transportation to get around, so as long as we are 20-30 minutes away it can be in the consideration set. Also considering we are going over a weekend please let me know if reservations are required so I can do it ahead of time.
I want to be detailed in order to hopefully help you narrow down the options, so below I have broken it down by meal. If I am missing anything, please let me know and I will edit my post and add more if needed.
Breakfast: Not a priority meal in general but while on holiday we tend to like to eat something. Open to both sweet or savory options, doesn’t make a difference. Bonus points is if you know of places that have Matcha or Chai teas, as my wife is a big fan of them. Budget expectation 5-15 Euros per person.
Lunch: If we eat breakfast then we try to do something on the small side for lunch. Think of street food/fast casual places and nothing too heavy that will make you sleepy. Lunch for us is just getting something to take a rest and give us the energy to get back out there and explore. Don’t need to have a view for this and open to all neighborhoods because I can’t predict where we will be when we want to stop for something to eat. Budget expectation 10-25 Euros per person, excluding drinks.
Dinner: The priority meal for us. This is our reward for all the walking and exploring done during the day, and a moment to just relax and talk about it. Will be a heavier meal and likely includes appetizers and a dessert, so a restaurant that is more well rounded and good from start to finish is best. Bonus points if they specialize in something (ie: seafoods, grilled meats, local specialties, etc) Budget expectation 15-35 Euros per person, excluding drinks but not opposed to going over for a place that is worth it.
Thanks for reading and in advance for your suggestions!

2024.05.29 11:49 Kate84848484 Are you taking your accutane with 20g of fat?

So I started accutane in January and neither the dermatologist or pharmacist mentioned anything about taking my tablet with 20g of fat. As you can see the box just says food or a meal. Food could literally be a biscuit! The booklet that comes with the tablets says the same thing, just to take with food. Anyway after seeing so many posts on here about taking it with fat I asked the pharmacist a couple of weeks ago and was told as long as I’m taking it with food then it it’s fine just don’t take it on an empty stomach. The last few weeks I did start taking the tablet with dinner rather than breakfast as due to having high cholesterol I only eat one higher fat meal a day. I just wondered what other people have been told/ are doing? If it wasn’t for this forum I wouldn’t even know about the 20mg of fat thing.

2024.05.29 11:49 WillingCantaloupes Help!

Stats- F, 27, 5’0, and 237lbs
Hello! Like many, I have struggled with my weight for years, but I’m finally back at the gym. I have successfully lost weight before, but this is the first time I’m really focusing on lifting. I used to order a lot of takeout and felt like I was just rotting after and before work, although I was on my feet for most of my work shift, getting 8,000-13,000 steps per shift.
Currently, I am in a calorie deficit, eating 1,550 calories a day, and I walk everywhere. I walk a total of 4 miles to and from the gym alone and then lift weights for about 45-60 minutes. I track all my steps and workouts with my Apple Watch and have all of my stats correct and it’s calibrated as we. I use the Lose It app to track all my meals and calories, but sometimes after a full day of work and working out, my Lose It app shows my net calories at around 400 due to all the exercise and walking. I’m sure the count is off, but is this okay? I am not super hungry or anything because of the high protein meals, but I want to make sure this is still healthy. I am also sleeping 6-8 hours a day.

2024.05.29 11:48 _themelonlord_ How to get over sugar cravings?

I've been trying to lose weight by eating two meals a day for about two months, but I haven't been very successful. Starting June 1st, I want to try OMAD, but I have a serious craving for sweets that starts after dinner. What time should I have dinner at the latest, and what can I do to prevent these sweet cravings? Also is there anything you suggest for a begginer?

2024.05.29 11:45 nothanks129 Does anyone have Tips for OMAD?

Hey everyone, im f 5'4 160 pounds and I have been on my weight-loss journey for a few weeks now, and have been seeing good results. Im already down 5 pounds, and my goal weight is 120.
I realized that OMAD was the best strategy for me because fasting reduced my cravings, and allowed me to cook more freely in the evenings, which is great because I absolutely love to cook.
The issue I've noticed is that I can't seem to reach my daily goals for fibre and protein using most recipes, and I can't seem to increase my portions enough to cover these bases without going over my calorie count.
While browsing this sub in search of recipes I saw a lot of meals that are a collection of small dishes that don't really go together in a culinary sense. And absolutely no hate towards those people at all, that just doesn't work for me. I need to feel like I've cooked something that I would make even if I wasn't dieting in order to keep my mental health in check. My strategy needs to be sustainable, and composite meals like that are simply unsatisfying to me.
Therefore I wanted to ask, if any of you had recommendations for recipes that would would at least come close to my daily macros? I am open to all cousines and types of food. Also does anyone else the feel the same way about meals, or should I work on changing this attitude to have better success?

The healthiness of restaurant foods can vary significantly. Some establishments, like Original ChopShop and Noodles & Company, focus on offering nutritious options with fresh ingredients and customizable meals, which cater to various dietary needs such as low sodium, gluten-free, and plant-based diets. These restaurants emphasize transparency in nutritional information and often use high-quality ingredients. However, many other restaurants serve dishes that are high in calories, sodium, and unhealthy fats. Making healthier choices involves opting for meals that include whole foods, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains, while avoiding heavily processed and fried items. 2024.05.29 11:36 UndisputedTankhard OMAD on keto

Hello,
carnivore and keto diet has been only diet that helped me reduce weight in past, so i am going for it again. I never tested myself for ketons etc, and when i was on those diets i limited myself to maybe 5-10g of carbs a day.
This definitely didnt help and i didnt last more then few months at a time.
This time id like to go for 30g of carbs per day, so for example yesterday i had two burger patties with onion, tomatoes, two eggs and some garlic sauce (its 13g carbs 2g sugar per 100g, and i had around 30g). Then some cheese with ham. This whole thing added to around 20g of carbs.
Another thing is i can only do OMAD, its easier for me to stick to these diets if i can eat only once a day and maybe get come chilli cottage cheese hour after, but no longer then hour of eating. Apart from that i only drink black coffe in morning and green tee (1 sac per 1,2litre only).
My question is, when people say they can eat 30-50g of carbs per day to not get out of ketosis, not all of them do OMAD or IF, so they are maybe eating more meals per day. How many carbs/sugar i can eat in my one meal to not get out of ketosis. Cant 30g of carbs in OMAD throw me out of ketosis daily ?
Bonus question that no one answered before and i was always curious but i got out of addiction on coke zero and drink tea nowdays. How can artificial sweetener throw you out of ketosis, if ketosis is state where your body turns fat into ketons to fuel body, while artificial sweetener has no "calories" so your body still cant use it to fuel anything. How will your body function when it threw your out of ketosis but cant fuel with those "empty carbs" from artificial sweetener.
Thanks

Stuffed cottage pie potato for around 700 calories and 52g of protein
I have been REALLY into baked potatoes lately and came across this recipe and it did not disappoint. I scooped out the inside of a baked potato and mashed it up with a conservative amount of butter, sour cream, milk, (and a not conservative amount of garlic powder, paprika, and salt). I filled the potato with the cottage pie meat mix and topped it with the mashed potato. Popped it back in the air fryer for 10 minutes for an extra crisp and it was chefs kiss. And so easy too! The potatoes took about an hour in the air fryer but the prep work to cook the meat and assemble was around 35 minutes.

2024.05.29 11:31 Pale_Midnight2472 Am I doing it right?

Sorry in advance for the long post.
I am F27 and 65 kg. I want to get down to 58 kg. I started my weight loss journey about 3 weeks ago by walking a couple of days a week (it was the first time I moved in months) I didn't see many results at the time.
Then two weeks ago I started taking it more seriously and counting calories. I downloaded an app and it says I should be eating about 1600 kcal/day. I have it set to losing 0,5 kg/week. I can also add my exercise to the app and then it allows me to eat more calories. I measure and count everything on the app except Tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, onion, garlic, herbs like cilantro or parsley, pickled jalapeños and spices.
Most days I eat at least 90 g of protein. I try to have 10-15% of a deficit because I'm trying to recomp. I want to feel better and become healthier and stronger so I want to build and preserve my muscle while I lose fat and weight. Still, every night I have left over on my app at least 100 kcal to go, and it helps me to know that I didn't go over my recommended intake. I quit oil, butter, sugar... I still had a cheat meal the other day (a yogurt and strawberry croissant that was kinda big) because I don't want to burn out and I heard Is good for weight loss to have a cheat meal. Also that day I walked 17k steps.
I weighed myself last Sunday but I had lost only 400 grams. So I quit alcohol too. Tomorrow it will be one week since the last time I had alcohol. Doesn't sound like a lot of time but for me, it's a big step since I used to drink about 3 times a week.
I also walk everyday 10k steps and I work out 3 times a week for 30-40 minutes, mostly full body strength with dumbells. My dumbells are 1-3 kg. Two weeks ago the 3 kg (6kg in total) was challenging for me but now I noticed I definitely need heavier dumbells. I also can complete a 40-minute workout without wanting to throw up anymore.
I still eat carbs, my diet is Mediterranean and where I come from meals are very bread, pasta, and rice-based, but I stay under my calories and never over what my app says my Macros should be. I also sleep 7-8 hours every night.
Am I doing it right? Should I also be counting the veggies I mentioned before that I don't count? Should I stop the recomp and focus on losing weight first before I try to build muscle? Should I reduce carbs? My weighting day is next Sunday and I am afraid I will not see any progress because even though I feel stronger I am not seeing any change in the mirror. I know weight fluctuates and water weight sometimes can add on but it is discouraging to see the scale not moving or worse!

2024.05.29 11:10 pinkberrysauce My boyfriend is always changing and canceling our plans. I don’t want to resent him for it

I (23 f) been with my boyfriend (23m) for 4 years, when we first started dating we only saw each other every 2 weeks because of the pandemic, but as time passed, we started to gradually see each other more and more. Ever since we graduated we’ve had this routine where we go out for dinner once a week, usually on Fridays, then he spends the entire day at my house either Saturday or Sunday, so we now see each other twice a week.
His family knows this, and he tells them every time we make plans because they only have one car in his family that he and his mom share (his other siblings don’t really drive), and even tho he always tells them our plans and asks to use the car at least 2 days in advance, his mom or siblings cause us to change our plans at Least 3 or 4 times a month. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but since we don’t see each other that often it has really started to bother me.
Just this past week it happened twice, we were supposed to go for breakfast on Saturday, he told everyone at his house since Thursday and they were okay with him using the car, then Friday night rolls around and he suddenly tells me his mom is telling him he can’t take the car because she wants to go grocery shopping on Saturday morning, at the SAME time that we planned to go for breakfast, she could’ve gone that same afternoon, she could’ve gone on Sunday, he even told her he could go that same Friday but no, she specifically wanted to go on Saturday, so we ended up seeing each other on Sunday. Then today we were supposed to go out but in the morning he told me his mom wanted to run some errands after work, so he would have to wait until 7 pm, by that time it was honestly too late for him to come to my house and go where we wanted to eat, so we ended up not meeting.
I know it’s not just his car, and his family can also use and need it, but i don’t understand why they always come up with something to do or plans of their own AFTER he asked for permission to take it and they all give him the okay. It’s extremely frustrating and honestly tiring, i could be a little understating if it was because of emergencies but no, it’s always some just something silly that in all honestly, could’ve waited. We’re supposed to have a date at night and his mom knew the whole week? suddenly that same night she asks for the car because his sister has plans and she’s driving her. He’s on his way to pick me up? she suddenly needs him to give his cousin a ride and buy some things from the store. He’s getting ready to come to my house? actually his brother wants to go to the movies. It’s Always something stupid.
Sometimes it’s just a change to our plans, sometimes i end up waiting up to 2 and a half hours for him to pick me up but i’ve also been stood up because of this. I’m getting so tired of it, and the fact that he never puts his foot down with them is annoying. I know it’s not his fault and if it was just on him these things wouldn’t happen, but what am i supposed to do? Fight his mom?
Lately when it happens I end up extremely angry at him and even when our plans were just changed I end up canceling them out of anger. I don’t want to keep resenting him for this, he puts in too much effort in planning things for me, driving me, taking me home and paying for me. I want to make him feel my appreciation but really, how can i not be mad? or am I out of line for feeling this way? should i just give up and ignore this when it happens?
It has been an issue in our relationship for a while, and even tho it will probably continue to happen, I don’t wan it to affect us the way it does :(
TL;DR; My boyfriend is always canceling and changing our plans because of his family, how can I stop blaming him?

2024.05.29 11:08 Otherwise-Comb7916 Not losing weight in caloric deficit

Long story short, I am 21 m 166cm and currently weigh 80 kg. I started my weight loss journey in March of this year but still haven't been able to lose any weight yet. I currently eat only 2 meals a day and get my daily meals from meal prep services online for the entire week. I consume roughly 1200-1300 calories a day (approx. 600 a meal) and eat nothing else the rest of the day (but I do tend to have a cheat meal once a week). I tend to weight train for about an hour in the gym 5 days a week, but other than my workouts and occasional walking to and from the gym I am pretty much sedentary for the rest of the day. Any advice on what I am doing wrong since I haven't lost any weight being in a caloric deficit? Any help would be appreciated.
