Last weekend, it was very warm for this part of the country. I was wearing a tank top and some jean shorts, so I had a lot of skin showing. Nothing indecent, though, just bare arms and legs, and I might have had some cleavage showing. Just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago. I feel like nothing has changed since I’ve hit adulthood and at least until I’ve finished uni nothing will change.
So far I’ve gotten my drivers license, gun license, can buy alcohol and do all sorts of shit a 17 year old can’t legally do but realistically it feels like I’m still a dumbass high school kid.
Moving from the point but when will politics actually affect my life? I won’t be buying a house since I’m on track to join the military, I won’t have kids for a long time. The only thing I can see is that some politicians might want to take firearms away permanently but hopefully that won’t happen. Should I be voting for the party I think has the nations/states best interests at heart? I just don’t think politics will directly affect my life for a long time, but my vote still matters.

I'm a teen coming from a working class family and also am not the only kid. I have a problematic oily skin that's textured kinda like a sponge and for pretty obvious reasons I want to take care of my skin so it won't be so yucky. here is the problem, every. single. skincare product is literally so expensive I wanna bash my head against a brick wall. my mom's a cashier, my father works his ass off in order to pay (EXTREMELY FUCKING EXPENSIVE) rent, the taxing is crazy, my baby brother's daycare is extremely expensive, every single month we have to restrict our spendings and many times by the end of the month our fridge is almost empty. I could try finding a job, but 1. my social anxiety fucks me too hard and 2. I'm a high school senior and you know... exams. basically, I hate that in order to be pretty and well groomed like girls my age I will have to work my ass of, unlike girls my age who are born in middle class families who can afford shit.

People from my neighborhood shaped me to think that I am just a second best. Hanggang grumaduate ako sa college, naging mindset ko na siya.
During my elementary days, never did I land top 1. There was always this girl who constantly landed the first place, and it was not me. The other girl's clan was way well off and may nga narating na sa buhay. That girl sure was brilliant without a doubt. Matagal ko na ring tanggap na hanggang top 2 lang ako o 'di kaya'y top 3.
Pero noong nag grade 6 ako, natuto akong tumino and was forced to mature early. Namatay kasi yung Lolo ko sa father side, nag abroad yung Papa ko para may ipang-aral sa aming magkakapatid, inaway ng kapibahay yung Mama ko dahil lang sa tsismis na hindi naman totoo. The people's allegations put a stain on my Mama's name. Our family was affected beyond repair (or so I thought.) The joke's on them, though, the moment the truth was revealed several weeks after the disputes.
I was so young but I already know what was happening. Basically, andaming nangyari at that time but I cannot contribute because I was just a kid. Everything I say had no bearing. At tanging maiaambag ko lang ay ang mag-aral ng mabuti.
To everyone's shock, grumaduate ako as the class valedictorian sa elementarya. Before our graduation rites, pauwi na ako no'n when I overheard the old ones talking about "what happened?" as to why it's me who landed the top and not the other girl. And that point something lang naman daw yung pinagkaiba (like some cents to the piso.)
They knew I heard them talking about it because one of them oldies saw me standing a few meters away from them. Tapos pinapatigil niya iyong nagsasalita kasi nga naririnig ko. Well, too bad I landed the top. I'm sorry it wasn't your bet who got to land the best spot.
I was also one of the top students during my junior and senior high school, then nag-iisang Laude na grumaduate sa irregular batch this year sa unibersidad.
Before I graduated in college, though, palagi ulit akong kinokompara sa Accountancy. Bakit daw FM yung kinuha ko kesyo wala daw board exam. Always the second best, pati daw yung organization kung saan ako naging officer. Pangalawa lang sa Accountancy.
But I realized, if good things are for me, ibibigay iyon sa'kin kahit ano man ang gawin ko. I am meant for greater things despite being just the second best. My life has been guided from the very beginning. That's why... people can be so cruel but I stand resilient.
Sobrang dami nang nangyari... that's why when one of the interviewers during my job application asked me as to ako lang daw ba yung honor student sa pamilya namin, naalala ko yung experience ko about my scholastic journey. Had another dream. Started off as usual. I woke up in the dream to a guy saying "time to get up fucko" i remember that specifically because who the hell says fucko? along the way i was briefed on where we were going since i was 'sleeping' when we got the orders to go scout an old school because someone thought they saw enemy movement in and around the building. Theres maybe 6 of us. Me, 3 other riflemen, a guy with the radio and the squad leader. After about a mile we post up behind some old concrete barriers and slabs. We're looking through our rifle scopes when we spot 4 enemies walk into the building. Thats when from most of the busted windows we take incoming fire. It was like looking at a wall of yellow strobe lights. We get behind cover and we start returning fire. Its too risky to peak over to fire accurately so we blind fire in that general area. The squad lead is fumbling with his map while trying to shoot, im too focused on not getting shot to know what my buddies are doing Squad lead yells out to the radio man "call in for danger close artillery, fire the guns man, fuck em up" i look towards the radioman and see he's sitting with his back against one of the barriers holding his throw with blood gushing out, along side that one of the other riflemen took a round to the shoulder, he's ineffective. I grab the radio from the currently dying solider and throwing it at the squad lead. He calls in the artillery, we felt the ground shake and we heard the guns fire "doom, doom, doom, doom, doom" It felt like an eternity waiting for those shells to hit that building but it couldn't have been longer than 45 seconds. We watched as the shells impacted the building. Fuckers must have had a ton of munitions in that building because the first shell blew the roof sky high. The few survivors of the shelling left the building and kept fighting, thats when i got hit hard. Really hard, hard enough to knock me down. And i woke up in the same position i fell in. Took a minute to collect myself and now im typing this. Little upset because i know those guys wouldn't have gotten outta the shitshow. But its all in my head so, does it really matter that much?

I'm 16. And a high school student. I was dating a guy online. And he was indeed the greenest flag. We never had a fight in our yr long relationship. But last yr around my birthday there was a lot going on in my life. My grandma was paralyzed and was in and out of ICU several times until September when she passed away. My academic yr was a lost cause, and i find it really hard to talk about my problems with others. Even though right now am basically anonymously narrating my problems i just dont feel right. But i do know i have to get it out. So for like the whole yr and even now I'm putting on a happy face for everyone cause i just dont think i can talk about all this to ANYONE upfront. I just dont feel good about it. Then even my parents were pressurizing me for my academics and i was barely talking to him at that point. I was sleep deprived cause i literally sleep at least 8 hrs thanks to my iron deficiency. So everything just felt tooo much and i can't talk about it to anyone. I started self hating. I’m going to apply for universities later this year and currently have a high GPA. My goal is a prestigious target school with a large alumni network my city to break into investment banking but I know there’s a chance I won’t get in so I’m making a back up plan incase that happens.
I’m planning on applying to top 100 state schools as well as an accounting major with the goal of working in FP&A (and maybe big4 for the resume boost). After a few years of work experience I’ll get an MBA from a high ranked school to break into IB if I miss my shot at a prestigious school in undergrad.
accounting degrees offer great job security and are perfect for FP&A but I’m worried that it would hinder me breaking into IB 5 years after graduating since it’s not a finance degree. Would an accounting degree from a good state school and an MBA from a top school be enough to break into IB, or should I get a finance degree in undergrad? Appreciate any response, thank you.
