2024.05.21 15:48 EndersGame_Reviewer FAQ: Is it better to get decks made out of paper or out of plastic?

Is it better to get decks made out of paper or out of plastic?
Well it's your collection, so you buy whatever you like! Regardless of what other people think, you might like the novelty of plastic cards, and prefer to make a collection of those.
But there definitely is a big difference in the way that plastic playing cards handle compared with paper playing cards. Plastic playing cards have been popularized as a result of the success of Poker. The reason they are preferred for Poker is that they are less likely to be marked - something critical for a gambling game where money is on the line!
But while plastic cards may have the advantage of durability, they handle terribly. They tend to clump together, and don't spread or shuffle evenly. That's why people who enjoy card magic, card games, and card flourishing, will nearly always opt for a deck made out of paper, since the handling ability of a paper deck is far superior.
Since paper playing cards are far more versatile, they continue to be the most preferred. Most modern decks of custom playing cards are typically made out of paper as well. So if you're wanting to collect modern playing cards with a variety of designs and styles of artwork, you'll find that these are nearly always made out of paper.
But if it is novelty that attracts you, you'll be pleased to know that if you look hard enough, you won't just find decks that are made out of plastic, but even wood, metal, and carbon fiber.

2024.05.21 15:35 BladesOfPurpose Starting out

So I'm starting to take my health seriously. I had an injury from work that tore a tendon in my rotor cuff. That injury ended with almost a year of work. Although I'm back, I haven't gained back what I've lost. A surgeon who was acting as an independent adviser for the insurance company recommended either a carnivor or keto diet to help repair tissue loss. Keto worked but is really hard to monitor which foods will push me over the edge. So now I'm trying carnivor diet instead.
How do you start? Do you slowly reduce plant intake? Where did you buy your meat to get the best value? Are you strictly red meat, or is all meat ok?
I've also started hunting to reduce cost. And a few crop farms require protection from wildlife.

2024.05.21 15:28 KittyShnooookems55 Gameboy Camera/Printer Questions

Hello! Recently dug up my old gb camera & printer, but I've run into a few issues. I bought new printer paper which helped with the print quality, but all the pictures are still printing with visible stripes. Instead of being a clear uniform image, you can see where the each bar of print begins. Is there any way to repair this? Online I've seen people have fantastic printouts.
I'd really like to transfer my GB camera photos onto my computer, but the only way I've found online involves buying an expensive cart reader for $50. Is there a cheaper way to accomplish this?
Last and least of all, I haven't been able to find any 3d print files for a GB printer battery cover. I'd like to get a replacement because mine is missing and the printers 6 batteries come loose often without one.
Thank you all for reading! Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

2024.05.21 15:16 angim350 [ASMR Roleplay] [F4A] You move in with your nervous girlfriend [internal monologue] [sweet] [reassurance] [making out] [seductive]

Hey all!
So the premise here is that a young couple are moving in together for the first time, and it's a brief look at their first evening and morning together. I've written it as a girlfriend as this is actually based on real events, but the listener can be anyone. Girlfriend can also be changed to boyfriend if preferable :)
Fine to monetize, just give me credit and link back here :) also, if anyone wants to fill this, awesome!!!
There is a mix of internal and external monologue here. Hope I've kept that clear in the text but, if not, please let me know!
Girlfriend
(knocking on the door)
Hello! Is anyone here? Oh, hi! Sorry I’m a bit late. Took ages to load up the car. Hmm? Sorry, I know you have other clients! Yeah, of course, I’m sure they’re on the way.
(internal, sarcastically)
Well, this estate agent seems lovely. Is she actually going to let me in?
(spoken)
Are we okay to wait inside? I think it’s going to rain. Thankyou…
(internal)
I still can’t believe we’re doing this! I hope I haven’t brought too much stuff. They said they’re barely bringing anything! Oh, this place looks a little dusty! Floor’s a bit messy! I’ll have to give it a clean. God, I hope they don’t lose patience with me. Their room at home always seems so tidy, but I know their mum is a bit of a clean freak too.
(spoken)
Sorry? Yeah, this is our first place together. We’ve been going out for three years and I just got a new job, so we figured why not? Renting for now, but hoping to buy a place in a year or two.
(internal)
If they don’t run a mile after living with me for a few weeks. I’m okay to live with, right? My housemates didn’t have an issue at [insert Uni or college, depending on location]. Oh god, what if…
(spoken)
Sorry, I’m here now. Oh yeah, I remember I really liked this kitchen! New oven, cool! Tell the landlord thanks! Yeah, I may as well start signing everything whilst we wait. I’m really sure they won’t be much longer.

The sound of knocking.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
Oh, that’ll be them now! Come up! We’re just in the kitchen. Hey!
(internal)
Ah man, I still get jittery when they smile at me like that! I still can’t believe we’re doing this. I know we spend all our weekends and most evenings together but it is going to be different, actually living together. We need to get a joint account set up, we’re going to need to go shopping ASAP – there’s literally nothing in! The internet people better turn up tomorrow! I’ve only got [speaker to insert their favourite show] boxsets for us to watch and I’m not sure that’s their thing…
(spoken)
Sorry, I was miles away. So we both sign here? Oh, rules? Okay?
(internal)
Gosh, do they think we’re going to be throwing mad parties every week? We’re not kids! Security deposit? We know this already! Ah, I shouldn’t be so harsh. She’s just doing her job. But does she have to act like we’re planning on burning the place down? Oh, one year’s tenancy? No early release? Eeesh, what if they don’t want to stay… oh wow, they signed really quickly!
(spoken)
Thankyou. I don’t think I have any questions. Do you?
(internal)
There’s that smile again. They look so excited! I hope they’re not as nervous as me. Oh, she’s leaving. Good.
(spoken)
Well, here we are. Just the two of us now. No… second thoughts? No, of course not! All my stuff’s outside, is yours? Shall we get it all in first and then think about where everything is going to go? Oh, your dad’s given us that TV? Fantastic! Think my laptop might be about to die!

Around half an hour later…

Girlfriend
(spoken, sounds out of breath)
Okay! Big pile of stuff. Least we got it in.
(internal)
How do they only have like three suitcases? I couldn’t even fit everything in my car!
(spoken)
I knew I shouldn’t have brought so many books! No idea where we’re going to put them. And the bathroom really is small! I know we said we didn’t mind, but…

Sound of a kiss.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
I love you too. Sorry, I’m overthinking things again. How are you feeling? I know! Still can’t quite believe we have our own place. We really needed it. I swear my dad was deliberately being annoying half the time. Always banging around downstairs! Shush, I’m not just like him! He’ll be okay. He’s got mum. I guess it must be weird with all your kids gone.
(internal)
Dad was so great about everything. Maybe I should have let him come help us move in, but I kind of wanted this to just be us.
(spoken)
Yeah, let’s take a proper look around.
(internal)
I need to chill. This place is really nice, especially for the price. I love the living room. Still can’t believe the sofa and chairs came with the flat. The sofa looks so comfortable. I can’t wait for us to snuggle up on there. They even left a little reading lamp in the corner! I hope they don’t mind if I want to just read some nights. They didn’t really seem to before, but now it’s just us all the time…
Ahhh, I wish the bathroom was bigger! The shower’s a bit ancient. I dunno if we’d both fit in… shit, now they can see me blushing, great! Let’s move out of here quickly!
Really good cupboard space for a small bedroom. I’ve got so many clothes though. I may need to use some of their space as well! Dad was right. I should have had a clear out before I came.
(spoken, laughing)
Don’t jump on the bed like that! Because it’s all tidy! Yeah, I know nobody’s coming round today, but… I am chilled! Wait, what? Okay, fine, I’ll try it out. Yeah, it is very comfy.
(internal)
They smell so good today. I love it when they wear this. I don’t even know what it is. Guess I’ll be seeing it in the bathroom, so I know what to get them for their birthday.

Sound of kissing.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
Are you happy we’ve done this?
(internal)
It’s weird how right this feels. I know it’s just the two of us here now, and I don’t feel nervous. This is just so cool.
(spoken)
What? Let you show me? How… oh….

Sound of kissing and giggling.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
Hey you. We have a lot of unpacking to… oh, you’re so mean.

More kissing.

Girlfriend
(internal)
I love it when they stroke my hair like this. Okay, pinning my hands above my head. That’s… new. Kinda like it though. It is so good that nobody can possibly disturb us. We can literally do anything we want to! Okay, my cheeks feel like they’re on fire. Typical.
(spoken)
Okay, we can, ohhh…
(internal)
I could get used to this.

The next morning…

Girlfriend
(internal)
What time is it? Must be getting late, it’s so bright in here. We need better curtains! This bed is so comfy though. I must have fallen asleep so quickly last night. Urgh, I’m so groggy in the morning. Wait, where are they? Can I hear noises in the kitchen? And what’s that smell? Oh, they must be cooking something. Bless them. I’m still so full from last night. It was so awesome to just have the night together in our own place! They’re getting better at cooking. I’ll need to make us something tonight.
I better get up soon. It’s just so warm in here. Ah, I need the bathroom. I still feel a bit awkward about that, but they’re so lovely about it. I’ll just sneak in now…
(spoken)
Oh hey! I thought you were in the kitchen. Oh, what you carrying? Wow, breakfast in bed! Thanks!

Sound of eating.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
Oh man, this is so good! When did you become a Michelin Chef? Your mum usually cooks for us!
(internal)
How do they look so awesome even though they’ve just woke up? I bet I look a right mess. Ah, there’s that smile again.
(spoken)
What? Haha, pull the other one. If there’s one thing I look like now, it isn’t beautiful. Have you seen my hair? Looks like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards. Okay, now you’re just teasing me! I guess I better get dressed in a sec. How long you been up? An hour? You’ve been trying to build the TV stand? How’s that gone? Oh…
(internal)
Bless them. They really aren’t very good at DIY. Good thing the landlord should take care of any repairs we need. My bookshelf should arrive today. Might be better to get Dad to come help us with that. If they’re not offended.
(spoken)
Okay, I am full! That was awesome though, thankyou! I’ll cook tonight. Unless you wanted to try that takeaway we saw round the corner… haha, you really know me so well.

Sound of kissing.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
Okay, I’ll jump in the shower then I’ll come and help you! There’s something I wanted to give you as well. I meant to last night but by the time we got everything unpacked I forgot! It’s in my bag, hold on, I’ll get it.
(internal)
They’re so cute. I can see them checking me out. Don’t know what’s so hot about these pyjamas. They’re like three years old and literally have super-heroes on them. Oh god, why did I wear… no, I can’t keep overthinking this stuff. Not if we’re going to live together.
(spoken)
Here it is! I got it custom made. Open it.

Sound of ripping paper.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
It’s that picture I took of you and Bounce a few years back. Remember, for one of our first dates you took me for a walk in the forest with her? We almost lost her when she tried to chase after a bird? I know you’re going to miss her living here, so I thought you’d like a picture of her. I’d say she could come round any time, but I don’t think we’re allowed pets.
(internal)
Ah man, I hope this is okay. They really love that dog and I know it was hard on them to leave them.
(spoken)
You love it? Of course, you’re welcome! I love you too.

Sound of kissing.

Girlfriend
(spoken)
You know I over think everything and I’m a little, well, full-on sometimes, but I just want you to know I’m so happy we’ve done this. I can’t wait for, well, everything! You mean the world to me, and I’m so happy you want to live with me.
(pause, then spoken)
Here’s to the next forever!

2024.05.21 14:54 Junior-Fox-760 Boomer Landlord

Sorry this is long with the backstory.
So in 2021 I divorced my husband and he kept the house. Although I had been a homeowner for decades now, I really didn't want to tie myself to another piece of property so soon, and I thought the housing market surge was a bubble that would soon burst like 2008 (oops), I decided to rent a house. Found a nice one in a not fantastic neighborhood but overall it was ok in a "leave me alone, I'll leave you alone" way. It also had a garage I could park my car in, a must have to me (important later). For most of the 2 year lease I was pretty happy there and even entertained thoughts of making an offer on it when the lease was up. And the landlord was a boomer but seemed to be a great guy, fixed things that needed fixing promptly, helped me with things like hanging curtains, and I even did a lot of yard work to clean up the overgrown backyard well above and beyond maintaining it in the condition I found it because again, he was good to me and I planned to buy the place eventually.
But-you know, every street has THAT house and after about the sixth time they parked blocking my driveway so that I couldn't get out I told them I really didn't want a war, but I would call the cops if it happened again. A few days later the house was severely vandalized, and I'm sure had my car not been locked up in the garage, the vandalism would have happened to my car. I quickly decided that I was not buying this house and when the lease was up I bought another one, giving the standard 30 day move out notice required. (Of course I couldn't prove they did the vandalism, but...)
The second I gave Boomer Landlord notice, he turned into the biggest dick. He couldn't push me out that house fast enough so he could jack the rent (he raised it $200 over what i was paying, I looked). Some of the highlights:
1) He started asking to show it at all times of the day and night while I'm still packing things up. I think in the space of a month he showed it close to 15 times.
2) Started demanding to make repairs at all time and coming over all the time. If he wasn't showing it he was over in my hair doing some project to spruce it up that could easily have waited till I moved.
3) Came home to find his wife "gardening." I did all the gardening and had put in many new plants. I had a small tea rose I had rescued from near death in the store and nursed it to a nice healthy little plant. My pride and joy. Came home to find this bitch in my flower bed and I look and I'm like "where's my tea rose?" And she says she "pruned it" and points-she has hacked the thing all the way down to where it is a solitary stick about two inches above ground level. I wanted to kill her.
4) He found some cheap crew who would blacktop the driveway, something he'd been promising me for over a year, last minute. He texts me at 3 p.m. in the afternoon that they will be there the next morning and I won't be able to park in my garage for 3 days. On less than 24 hours notice and remember the vandalism? I told him this was in no way fair, and no way was I leaving my car on the street and he told me I had "a victim mentality."
5) The day I came back and cleaned the place I came damn close to just smacking the shit out of him. He came over, practically stood over me as I worked. I'm Gen X, not a spring chicken myself, and I have never been condescended to and talked down to so much in my life. I was lectured about the proper way to sweep a hardwood floor, told for the 10,000th time not to use Comet on the tub. I thought I would kill him if he didn't get out of my face. The capper-I scrubbed on the oven FOREVER, used a whole can of cleaner, and there was still a small black ring in the center that was not coming clean for love or money. I told him I was done with it and that was that. I was then lectured (and by the way, I cook in the oven MAYBE once a week tops). Did you know you should clean your oven EVERY MONTH? Like sorry, dude, I have an actual life.
In the end I did get my security deposit back, minus a couple little pissy charges, but damn. In less than 30 days he destroyed what I thought was a great 2 year relationship.

Engaging in blue day crafts for preschoolers by making fish out of blue paper and decorating them enhances creativity and allows for a discussion on marine life, fostering environmental awareness among children.

Blue Bubbles Art:

An activity where children can blow blue-colored bubbles onto paper, creating unique artworks. This combines fun with an introduction to color mixing and pattern recognition.

Blue Ice Painting:

Freezing blue-colored water into ice cubes and using them to paint on paper offers a sensory experience that is both cool and educational, teaching children about the states of matter in a fun way.

Blue Nature Scavenger Hunt:

Take the learning outside with a scavenger hunt for blue objects in nature. This activity not only encourages physical activity but also enhances observational skills and a connection with the natural world.

Maximizing Engagement with the School Parent App

Incorporating the school parent app for Blue Day activities strengthens the home-school connection. Sharing photos and stories from the day's events keeps parents involved in their children's learning journey, fostering a supportive community around the educational process.

Conclusion: The Impact of Blue Day on Preschool Education

A Blue Day Activity for Preschool is a comprehensive approach to early childhood education that combines play and learning, creativity and discovery, and individual expression and group experiences. It is not merely a day full of blue-themed activities. Educators may create an environment that not only celebrates the color blue but also fosters emotional development, fine motor skills development, and cognitive development through well-planned crafts, activities, and engagements. Let's take use of Blue Day's chances and use it to paint the early years of education in vibrant, joyful, and inquisitive strokes. We open the door for lifelong learners who see education as a vibrant and exciting journey by making learning interesting and enjoyable.

TICS (Today I Can't (?) Smell): Hyacinthus Orientalis (hyacinth)
So, I was watching this video and a pretty flower featured in the footage. Chatting with Chat-GPT-o (the Omni version of ChatGPT 4), I got it to identify the flower. I was then able to get it to generate a table that cross-referenced the compounds listed in a GCMS readout with those it deemed essential for the characteristic perfume of hyacinths. This was through iterative steps. I got it to categorise each compound by layer, and after uploading my own materials spreadsheet:
materials.xlsx
check which compounds I didn't have in stock, cross-reference which ones I needed to buy from the stockist (www.pellwall.com), suggest alternatives where none was available from the stockist and then for each compound tell me the minimum order quantity along with price and then provide a total excluding shipping (total was £60.00 GBP). I can't share the chat as OpenAI doesn't allow sharing chats that contain images, so the best I can do is show you the images here along with the final spreadsheet. Also I should note that as quick as I was asking the questions, the model was answering them almost as quickly, so in total it did not take long to arrive at the final results, prolly under fifteen minutes which was in a greater part due to how slow I was at both inputting questions and also in deciding what I wanted the model to do.

So, if ya feelin' friskee... ya might all give it a try!
I am but an embryo in the gigantic world that is perfumery and so, based on past experience, I anticipate that for the more experienced fam out there, there may be a large element of pants to what has been presented here. I share it as it seems to be a very useful tool if not to produce a facsimilie at least to make some tasks less onerous and more fun.

2024.05.21 13:34 Cecilie_Charlwood Which of these Laptops is best suited for my final year of architecture

For the first few years i used a Dell G3: i7-8750H, GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB RAM, 1080p and yes it was quite tough. I also learnt i hated heavy 15inch laptops, so im only considering light 14inch.
My budget is 2.1k, but it if its a real good deal max i'll do is 2.2k.
Regular Softwares i use for modelling and rendering are: Rhino, Revit, Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, Indesign and Sketchup.
Here are my options I have collected. Im slightly confused on which is best suited for my needs.
Legion Slim 5: Ryzen 7 7840Hs, RTX 4060, 32GB RAM, 2.8K Display, 120Hz - $2,119/82y5cto1wwau3#ports_slots) Everything is perfect and above what I need for a great price, my only concern is the processor. I've only worked with intel so i'm unfamiliar with ryzen. The thread and core count seems a low compared to others?
Gigabyte AERO 14: i7-13700H, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM, QHD, 90Hz - $2,099 this seemed all great until i saw a yt review benchmark where it scored low on modelling and rendering softwares. So im uncertain.
MSI Creator M14: i7-13620H, RTX 4050, 16GB, 2.8K Display, 60Hz - $2199 havent examined this properly but it looks good on paper. I think the RAM can be customised? but the hz rate is low..
MSI Cyborg 14: i7-13620H, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM, FHD, 144Hz - $1919 havent examined properly, display res is lower but price seems good for the quality
Dell Precision 3480: i7-1360P, RTX A500, 16GB RAM, FHD, - $2199 display rec is low, cannot find hz rate and cpu seems low? i think? There's a touchscreen version for $100 less??? Confused but its advertised as a workstation.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14: Ryzen 7 7735HS, RTX3050, 16GB RAM, FHD, 144Hz - $2,099 ryzen cpu so again im uncertain, Asus red flag. lower res, beside that it seems good.
Also if there is a better deal with similiar specs and sizes, please recommend. I am looking to buy this within the next few days

2024.05.21 13:30 Ishika2337 The 10 Best Movies Coming to Apple TV+ in May 2024

Apple TV+ is one of the strangest streamers out there, with almost no licensed TV or film content and a small number of originals. That makes the best movies on Apple TV+ easy to find. There simply aren’t that many! Apple is clearly taking a “quality over quantity” approach, with its money spread across genres and targeted at making its subscribers (many roped in with a deal that came with one of the company’s tech products) treat it like a real contender. It also helps that it’s only $4.99 a month, or free for a year if you’ve just purchased a new (and eligible) device.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs, one of the best animated movies of the 2020s and Martin Scorsese’s latest, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like Killers of the Flower Moon and Wolfwalkers.

10. The Pigeon Tunnel

For a documentary about one of the most celebrated writers of spy fiction, The Pigeon Tunnel can seem—at first glance—deceptively placid. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, the film features an extended conversation between David Cornwell, AKA John le Carre, and Oscar-winning docmaker Errol Morris. It’s just that. Two people talking, with Morris off-screen, their parrying question-and-answers broken up with archival images and re-enactments of Cornwell’s past, as well as snippets from the classic movies or TV adaptations based on his spy universe: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and A Perfect Spy.

9. Hala

Writedirector Minhal Baig’s Hala is an intimate coming-of-age drama held up by its personal writerly touches and a star-making turn from Geraldine Viswanathan as the title character. Hala’s struggling with the same kinds of things we normally see high school characters struggle with: What to do after graduation, how to manage a relationship with her parents that’s not quite adult and not quite childish, and (of course) boys. Viswanathan’s understated quiet and the warmth in which the situations are shot (almost always centered on her face)—be they at a family dinner or a walk in a Chicago park or a reading of a high school English assignment—make the dramatic ricochet of Hala’s minor rebellion rattle us all the harder.

8. Boys State

The tendency to read too much into Boys State as a representative of American politics—contemporary, functional, broken and otherwise—doesn’t quite line up with the event itself, in which every year the American Legion sponsors a sort of mock government sleepaway camp in Texas for high school boys (girls get a similar program of their own), where attendees join parties, run for office, craft platforms, run campaigns, hold debates, then ultimately exercise their right to vote.

7. On the Rocks

Sofia Coppola’s new movie On the Rocks starts out as a story of possessive fatherhood, with Felix (Bill Murray) narrating to his teenage daughter, Laura: “And remember, don’t give your heart to any boys. You are mine until you get married. Then you’re still mine.” The girl laughs off the declaration as a jape, which turns out to be a catastrophic tactical mistake. In her womanhood, Laura (Rashida Jones), does indeed get married to a man, Dean (Marlon Wayans), and they have two beautiful daughters of their own, eldest Maya (Liyanna Muscat) and youngest Theo (Alexandra Mary Reimer).

6. Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You

The black-and-white behind-the-scenes documentary accompaniment to Bruce Springsteen’s album of the same name, Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You is a beautiful and companionable tour through the music and its making from an American master. Director Thom Zimny buys into the album’s concept, which focuses on just how long Springsteen’s been at this thing. Poignant juxtaposition with archival footage and pictures emphasizes just how long the E Streeters have been at this—and reminds us of who and what was lost along the way.

5. Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds

Werner Herzog will show you multiple clips from Mimi Leader’s Deep Impact for no other reason than because he likes them, he finds them well-done and evocative—he says as much in that even-keeled, oddly accented voice over—then soon after chastise “film school doctrine” when complimenting a field video shot by a South Korean meteor specialist in Antarctica. Like Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, his documentary from earlier in the year, Fireball (co-directed with Clive Oppenheimer, with whom he made 2016’s Into the Inferno) is less about what it’s about (meteorites, shooting stars, cosmic debris—and the people who love them) than it is about Werner Herzog’s life, which is his filmography, which is a heavily manipulated search for ultimate truth.

4. CODA

Sometimes a movie so successfully plunges you into its world that it completely engulfs you in a lived-in experience. From the gorgeous, scenic opening moments of CODA, you can almost smell the Atlantic salt air and pungent scent of the daily catch. The movie transports you to Gloucester, Massachusetts and lovingly drops you into the life of one family. Seventeen-year-old Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones) is what the title of the movie refers to—a child of deaf adults.

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas

We could get into plenty of arguments over which Charlie Brown animated special is best, but A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite pull of the bunch. Charlie Brown’s confrontation with the Christmas season’s commercialism (back in 1965 no less) and a sad little fir tree make this a cartoon classic, as the ultimate funny-pages shlimazel suffers endless social indignities (no Christmas cards) and the holiday blues.

2. Wolfwalkers

Wolfwalkers is filmmaker and animator Tomm Moore’s latest project out of Cartoon Saloon, the animation studio he co-founded in 1999 with Paul Young, and the capper to his loosely bound Irish folklore trilogy (begun with 2009’s The Secret of Kells and continued with 2014’s Song of the Sea). At first blush, the film appears burdened with too much in mind—chiefly thoughts on everything from English colonialism to earnest portraiture of Irish myths, the keystones of Moore’s storytelling for the last decade.

1. Killers of the Flower Moon

Martin Scorsese has made a career telling stories that tackle issues of justice, retribution and betrayal. From his overt and poetic crime films, through to his dark comedies, religious parables and character pieces, he has long been drawn to stories where the ambiguities of life collide with the complexities of survival, and where day-to-day choices result in consequences sometimes obvious, and sometimes far more subtle and insidious.

2024.05.21 13:01 Quirky_Statement8191 I (25M) need help leaving an extremely toxic relationship with my girlfriend (22F).

My girlfriend has recently told me that she doesn’t think I’m doing enough for this relationship. It came to a head in an argument yesterday that has left me feeling so unwell.
A few days after telling me this, she got upset that I wasn’t noticing a few things. (1) It unexpectedly became her time of the month, and I usually buy her chocolate. I had just gotten home from work and she said “I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up that you’d have come home with chocolate.” (2) She is upset I haven’t bought her a promise ring after she’s apparently been hinting at it for the last week. She said we went into a bunch of jewelry stores at the mall last week on purpose. (I think a promise ring would be a bit soon, as we’ve only been dating for 10 months and numerous times over the last month she’s told me I’m on my last chance and that she should’ve walked away by now.)
I know these are all normal relationship things, but this is where it gets messy. These conversations get so heated, and if I try and explain myself or say sorry, all hell breaks loose. In this case, I apologized for forgetting the chocolate, and said I didn’t notice the ring thing she was hinting at. She said I was being defensive, and any other answer than “let’s drive to the store right now and get chocolate” is unacceptable.
This led to her yelling at me (and I mean really yelling) about how I’m not a man. She says she’s dating a boy, and all my friends are immature who don’t know how to treat girls. She said as soon as the flowers in her vase start dying I need to buy her new ones. She said if I asked to be posted on Instagram, I need to be posted right that second. That I need to take her on dates that aren’t just nice dinners. She has said “I’m so tired of your sh*t”
Then, (and admittedly I’m upset at this point because I feel like I do a lot for her that goes unnoticed) I made the mistake of asking when she does these little things (that are her love language) for me. I said I want this relationship to be a two way street.
She lost it, and started throwing things. Hitting herself, saying she wants to harm herself, and she can’t do it anymore. She warned me that if I say one more thing like that I need to call the mental hospital and have them come get her. She then had a complete panic attack, where she was struggling to breathe and I helped calm her down using methods she’s taught me when this happens. Once she calmed down, she softly said “can you please just do it” (it meaning go to the store and buy chocolates and post her on Instagram). Out of fear of another tirade, I did it.
I keep falling for this manipulation every time and it’s an endless cycle. I think it’s because at the end of the day I love her and have sympathy for what she’s going through. Whenever I get fed up or gain the courage to have the talk with her about why this needs to end, it seems to get elevated to a life-treating intensity. Does anyone have any advice on how to get out of this situation safely and respectfully?
TL;DR: My relationship has become unhealthy but every time it comes close to ending, there’s an extreme episode/mental breakdown that makes me stay to help.

2024.05.21 11:25 Salt-Ad4017 Constantly accused of theft as a child.

Okay, so I'm not sure if this is a common experience, but I was constantly accused of stealing stuff as a kid (without justification).
My brothers got locks on their doors because it was apparently so bad and I was super untrustworthy. This peaked around 15, when my little brother lost his iPod and accused me of stealing it (I had not). There was no evidence I had done this. My parents made me pay him the cost of it. When he found it at the bottom of his cupboard six months later they refused to apologize to me and acted like I was making a scene for being upset about it.
Years later, I was out of home and visiting and they mentioned they don't use this one kitchen appliance anymore. I'd been about to buy one so asked if I could have it. Dad said yes. Mum said yes (twice, I double checked, not my first rodeo). I checked again right before I left that it was okay, yes again from both, left.
Well, guess who got a blistering call from their mother about taking it a week later? Not only was she deeply concerned I knew where it was in the cupboard in order to remove it (the same spot for the last 18 years I lived there) but if I was going through the cupboards how could she know I wasn't going through her filing cabinet? What else did I look through?? Etc.
I wasn't allowed to touch their wallets, go into the study, all sorts because of my nefarious motives. Y'all I have NEVER stolen anything bar a plant cutting over a fence on my life.
Oh yes - except for one thing. My mom didn't give me sanitary products or hygiene products that I needed (menstruation products, leg hair removal stuff, tweezers, nail clippers) and didn't let me use hers, so I had to steal hers or be bullied for my hair and stuff toilet paper into my undies.
So - a common experience? An anomaly?

2024.05.21 11:12 thisperfectmess African Developer small rant

A little rant. I am 27F. Does anyone really talk about how frustrating it is to be a jobseeker in Africa? I graduated in 2019 with an Accounting bachelor’s degree. I couldn’t find any decent-paying job, so I ended up working as a commercial property caretaker making around $260 per month. Sounds like nothing and yes it wasn’t much but I was able to find a single room and rent and also buy basic foodstuff. Buying an extra banana meant I was squeezing my budget. I tried content creation, doing online writing gigs to supplement my income and luckily, I got by.
Forward to November 2021, I moved in with my then-bf, thankfully, he has been nothing but supportive, and I didn’t have to pay rent so I could save a little bit from my earnings.
I went back to school to finish up my professional papers (CPA in my country has different exams from your accounting degree.) Supposedly, the professional papers should give you an edge but that wasn’t my case.
Fast forward to October 2022, I changed course. I had been running a WordPress site for like six years at this point, just writing random University experiences so I knew anything SEO, writing, etc.
My bf suggested I try programming and see whether it’s my thing. This was after endless months of job applications. Guys, I applied to even volunteer just to get my foot through the door in a lot of accounting firms but I got nothing.
I was beginning to fall into depression, so getting something new to give me a purpose didn’t sound like a bad idea. I went through a tonne of YouTube videos and finally started Harvard’s CS50x. I finished that in June 2023 and since then, I have built projects in Python, JS, and Django.
I created a portfolio and I have been applying to jobs all over again. I just need to mention that I have been dreading the application because I know how well it went last time. The most frustrating thing is that even remote jobs on LinkedIn require you to be in the USA, Europe, or the country that posted it. My country, where I am legally allowed to work, barely has any job postings. The ones that are there are from months ago and the applications are usually over 200.
I feel so lost and frustrated at this point. I do not even know why I am writing this, but I have seen so many people who live in the US trash the USA. I get it, you never appreciate what you have until you don’t. As a young African, I will tell you, if you even have an opportunity to apply, you are lucky whether you get the job or not. Some of us are automatically disqualified by virtue of where we were born.

2024.05.21 08:49 panicjames I'm James Read, food writer, microbe-wrangler and professional fermenter. I wrote Of Cabbages & Kimchi (out today in the USA), and I'm back for another AMA!

Hello again /Cooking! My name's James and I like getting microbes to cook for me. My book, Of Cabbages & Kimchi: A Practical Guide to the World of Fermented Food came out today last year (but is out in the USA today!).
OK, so this is my second rodeo, because I already did an AMA back then, but I REALLY loved all your brilliant questions about obscure ferments, burlesque operas and kahm yeast so I'm back and ready (edit: not actually ready but will be at 3pm GMT/10am EDT) to answer your questions.
So, since last year I have:
A bit about the book:
I've written a book all about fermented foods, covering sauerkraut, hot sauce, kimchi, soy sauce, vinegar, kvass, kefir, kombucha, tepache and yogurt. It's full of stories about the surprising history and microbial wonder of fermentation, alongside over sixty recipes ranging from from sauerkraut pierogi to soy sauce caramel dark milk chocolate tart and fig & fennel seed kombucha to kefir panna cotta with orange blossom and thyme, and is packed with some truly beautiful gastro-surrealist illustrations from Marija Tiurina.
A bit about writing it:
I wrote the book partially through lockdown, which made visiting the library for research a little trickier. A lot of the best sources I found weren't in English (and occasionally weren't even in modern languages - shout out to Walther Ryff for the first reference to sauerkraut in Middle High German). I found fermentation absolutely everywhere once I started looking, from 8,000 year-old burial sites to the HMS Endeavour and International Space Station. I stumbled across Russian kvass adverts on Youtube featuring Gene Simmons and Michael Jackson impersonators, and discovered that those miniature Tabasco sauce bottles were originally created as an interval giveaway for an opera.
Some nice things people said about it:
"A fantastically thorough introductory guide to the wild wonderland of fermentation, with imagery that would make Lewis Carroll proud"
David Zilber, co-author of The Noma Guide to Fermentation
"One of the most user-friendly fermented food books out there"
Nigel Slater
"Lovely... delightful... enchanting"
Nigella Lawson
Very kind of them.
If you're interested, do please buy the book from one of my lovely US stockists:

Your food card with all the stickers is great. You certainly can find a lot of goodies in thrift stores. There is where I buy most of my cards, gift wrapping paper and Christmas cards. I am so surprised at what people donate.
**I appreciate you sharing some of your favorite recipes. I will put them in line with the ones I plan to test. I look forward to hearing from you again. Be safe and stay well. Hugs for the recipes and card 🤗 & thank you so much. 🌷 **
u/travel4me22
What a beautiful handmade card. You did an outstanding job and so professional.
**No fun plans for us. We have not been able to go anywhere since 1999. Our day trips have slowed down as well, maybe one every couple months but, they are usually for out-of-town doctor appointments. I know you will have a great time in VA. It is such a pretty state, a lot like NC. Speaking garden tours, I have heard and saw on TV that Biltmore House in Asheville is pretty this year. Thank you again for such a lovely card and keep me posted on all your travels. Take care and be safe. Hugs for you 🤗🌷 **

Best Online Casino Bonuses

There are dozens of real money online casinos in the US, and that means that competition for customers can be fierce. But that’s very good news for you as operators will offer a wide range of casino bonuses and promotions.
We’ve gone ahead and listed the most common of these bonuses offered by the best online real money casinos.

Welcome Bonuses

The vast majority of real money online casinos will offer a welcome bonus to all new users. This will see you earn bonus credit or bonus funds for simply signing up and making a deposit. You can then use the bonus credit to play real money casino games. Just bear in mind that you may need to make a minimum deposit before you can grab the bonus.

Deposit Bonuses

A deposit bonus is when real money casinos will match a deposit by a certain percentage. For example, if you get a 100% deposit match bonus on a $100 deposit, you will receive an additional $100 in bonus credit. This can then be used to play real money casino games, but you will have to meet some wagering requirements before you can cash out your bonus funds.

No Deposit Bonuses

No deposit bonuses are available at some real money online casinos but not all. These promotions are the best value as they don’t require you to make any deposit using your own cash. This gives you the chance to test drive an online casino to see if it’s what you’re looking for. These bonuses also have wagering requirements you will have to meet before you can withdraw your winnings.

Free Spins

Free spin bonuses are exactly what they sound like. They offer you free spins on specific slots titles. The idea here is to promote games from a certain provider or introduce new slots. Like the no deposit bonus, this is a great way to try out a game before using your own cash.

Reload Bonuses

A reload bonus is very similar to a deposit match bonus and quite common at real money online casinos. You make a deposit and the casino will match it by a certain percentage. These promotions are run on a regular basis with some of the best online casinos for real money offering them every week.

Bonus Terms and Conditions

Bonuses and promotions at real money online casinos in the USA have terms and conditions that can have an impact on the value of the bonus. That’s why you should read those Ts and Cs carefully and know exactly what they mean. Here are a few terms you’ll come across.
Wagering Requirements
Wagering requirements at real money online casinos can also be referred to as ‘playthrough’ or ‘rollover’. This is listed as a multiple and simply tells you the number of times you need to wager the bonus amount before you can withdraw it as cash.
So say you have a bonus wagering requirement of 25x on a bonus amount of $100. This means that you will need to place wagers totaling $2,500 (25 x $10) before you can withdraw the bonus as cash. This is possibly the most important thing to look out for on a promotion because a high wagering requirement on a high-value bonus might be hard to hit.
Time Limits / Expiry
There are two types of time limits – the time you have to take up the offer and the time you have to use your bonus funds and hit those wagering requirements. The first one is simple enough. Once you sign up at a real money casino, you’ll have anything from a few days up to a month to take up your welcome bonus offer.
The second one can be a bit trickier. US online casinos will set a time limit on your offer and you have to use your bonus and hit the wagering requirement before that time is up. If you don’t make it , you could lose any unused bonus credit.
Minimum Deposits
This is a very basic condition of any real money online casino promo when there is a deposit involved. The minimum deposit, as you may have guessed already, is the least amount of money you can deposit to activate the bonus.
Now here’s the thing – a minimum deposit for a promotion may be higher than the regular minimum at a casino. And in some cases, the minimum deposit amount may change if it’s a bonus made up of several smaller bonuses. For example, a deposit match and free spins bonus over two deposits might require a minimum of $20 for the first deposit and $50 for the second deposit to unlock the free spins.
Winning Limits
Real money online casinos will pretty much give you free money just to get you playing their games. But there’s only so much free money they can hand out. So understandably, they put a limit on how much you can win using your bonus cash.
It’s not a condition that you need to worry about too much though. After all, a bonus is free money, right? But just remember that you won’t win any massive progressive jackpots with that bonus cash.
Game Eligibility
Remember what we said about wagering requirements? Well, not all games contribute towards those requirements. Promotions tend to exclude some games like roulette so check the Ts and Cs.
Games that are eligible will contribute towards your requirement at different rates. For example, slots may have a rate of 100% while the rate for table games could be 50%. This means that if you play $100 on the slots then $100 is taken off your wagering requirement. If you play $100 on a table game, then only $50 counts towards the requirement.
Restrictions
This is a little different to games eligibility because it has nothing to do with your wagering requirement. To put it simply, these are games that you cannot use your bonus funds on.
Even the best online casinos may restrict bonus use for games like live dealer games or any games that have large prizes such as progressive jackpots. You may also be restricted from entering contests using your bonus.

Best Online Casino Games

One of the benefits of playing at a top real money online casino in the US is that you get access to hundreds of games as soon as you sign up. With instant play online casinos, you don’t have to download any additional software to start playing. Simply go to the site and you’re all set. And the best online casinos might even offer many of these games in demo mode for you to try out.

Slots

Slots are one of the most popular real money online casino games. You can spin the reels to hit winning combinations called paylines, unlock bonus features and win real money. But it’s not just about matching a few symbols, there are often multiple ways to win. Slots with the Megaways mechanic can have thousands of paylines.
Real money slots also come in a massive range of themes and styles covering everything from safari themes to ancient Egypt and even rock bands. And don’t be surprised if there are hundreds or even thousands to choose from at the best online casinos.

Progressive Jackpots

A progressive jackpot is a type of prize that you’ll find in some slot titles. These jackpots grow with each and every wager that is placed on the game. The most popular jackpot slots pool wagers from players all over the world and not just the casino itself.
The biggest progressive jackpots at online casinos for real money can sometimes reach millions of dollars. In fact , the largest progressive jackpot win of all time was $23.6 million won by a player in Belgium in 2021. The jackpot was won on the Absolutely Mad variant of Mega Moolah.

Roulette

Online roulette brings this ever-popular table game into the world of online casinos. Pick a number or color and place your bet. Then wait to see if the ball lands on your pick. It’s one of the simplest games to pick up but there are actually a few variants that you can choose from.
The best online casinos will have American, European, and French roulette variants. Some real money online casinos will even offer multi-wheel roulette where you can bet on two or three wheels at a time. Unsurprisingly, roulette is also hugely popular in live casinos.

Blackjack

Blackjack is a classic casino card game where you try to beat the dealer by getting as close to 21 as possible. While the game is simple enough with a straight bet on your hand, there are plenty of side bets to bring a little more action to the table. For example, you can bet on the Lucky Ladies – betting that your first two cards total 20.
You can play virtual blackjack at your own pace at all of the best online casinos. But if you prefer a more traditional style of play, then you can also try your hand at live dealer blackjack.

Video Poker

Most video poker casinos will offer a range of poker variants that combine skill of poker with the excitement of slot machines. It’s based on five card draw and you need to match one of several winning hands by changing or keeping the cards you are dealt. Bets are placed at the start of the game.
Each variant comes with its own set of rules and payout structures that can vary quite a bit. As you can imagine, you’ll need to have some basic poker skills to master this game. It’s also not a bad idea to follow some video poker strategies to improve your odds of winning.

Baccarat

Baccarat is a hugely popular game in land-based casinos, but not quite so popular at online casinos for real money. The goal of the game is to have a hand value closest to nine. You have a few baccarat strategies to choose from such as betting on your own hand, the banker’s hand, or a tie.
The game is available at most of the best real money casinos online in a virtual format. But it’s the live casinos where you’ll find the real action. Live tables are

Live Dealer Games

You can feel like you’re stepping onto the casino floor when you play at live dealer casinos. These casinos offer live streams of table games with professional dealers. All the games have the exact same rules as those you’d find at land-based casinos and you can even communicate with the dealer via chat.
Table games like blackjack, baccarat, and roulette are the most popular games. But in recent times, the gameshow has risen to the top with innovative games like Deal or No Deal and, believe it or not, Monopoly.

Best US Online Casino Payment Methods

Any online casino with real money games should have a solid set of payment options to choose from. Below, we’ve listed the most common.

Credit Cards

Credit cards are widely accepted at the best USA online casinos. They provide a safe, secure, and fast method for deposits, and as most people already have one, they’re super convenient. Withdrawals are a different matter though as very few casinos will payout to a credit card.
It’s also worth noting that some banks may decline transactions to real money online casinos for legal reasons. For example, if gambling is restricted in your state, the bank may decline your request. There may also be fees charged when funding your online casino account.

Debit Cards

As you may know already, debit cards offer exactly the same convenience, speed, and security as credit cards. They’re also accepted by practically all real money US online casinos. And much like credit cards, many casinos don’t offer debit card withdrawals.
One big benefit of debit cards over credit cards is that there are no legal restrictions on the use of debit cards to fund gambling accounts.

eWallets

A hugely popular payment method for real money online casinos in the US, eWallets offer fast transactions with great security features. They also provide an additional layer of privacy, as your bank or credit card information isn’t shared with the online casino. However, there may be fees associated with eWallet transactions, and some online casinos may not accept certain eWallets.
Popular eWallets include PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Interestingly, the online casino industry is slowly starting to move away from older eWallets like PayPal. Even so, there are still some great casinos that accept PayPal.

Cryptocurrencies

Many of the top real money online casinos in the US now accept major cryptocurrencies for both deposits and withdrawals. These digital currencies offer some of the best security features of any payment method, and yes, that includes credit cards.
Cryptocurrency casinos let you deposit and withdraw funds with very low fees and in some cases, no fees at all. Transactions are highly secure as you don’t need to share your banking details and extremely fast. Some crypto withdrawals can be processed in hours or even minutes.
The best online casinos will accept offer a variety of crypto options including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and more. If you don’t have any crypto, casinos like TG.Casino offer you the chance to buy some using your traditional methods like debit or credit card.

Checks

The best online casinos for real money offer the complete range of payment options and, believe it or not, that includes old-school paper checks. Just pick ‘cash by check’ and the casino will send your winnings by mail.
The only drawback here is that it’s quite slow. In fact, withdrawals can take several days or even weeks. It’s all down to how fast your mail provider is and how quickly your bank can clear the check. Still a good option to have though just in case.

Wire transfers

Wire transfers are another tried and trusted method for secure and reliable deposits and withdrawals at US online casinos for real money. This is a simple transfer made directly from your bank account to the casino’s account and vice versa.
This type of transfer is very secure as your bank handles the entire process, but it takes time and can be a little on the expensive side. There may also be limits on how much you can transfer to and from your account so check with your bank first.

Tips for Real Money Online Casino Gambling

With everything you’ve read so far, picking the best online casino for real money should be pretty straightforward. But if you’re new to the online casino industry, then you might want to learn a few things about how to gamble online before you place those first wagers. Below, we’ve listed just a few of our favorite tips to get you started.

Pick a Trusted Online Casino

And by trusted we mean one that has a rock solid reputation for customer support and satisfaction. You can do this by reading reviews by people who have taken the time to actually play at casinos online for real money. That’s exactly what we do here, so picking from our recommendations is a no-brainer.

Use those Online Casino Bonus Offers

There’s great value to be found through online casino promotions whether it’s a no deposit promotion or a deposit match. Whatever is on offer, take advantage of it to give your bankroll a nice bump before you play any real money casino games.

Sign-up with More than One Online Casino

Yep, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from signing up with five or six real money casinos. This means that you can take advantage of all those welcome bonuses and promotions. You also have a better chance of finding the best real money casino games as you have thousands of games to choose from.

Look for Mobile Online Casinos

Common sense when you think about it because we spend more time on our mobile devices each day. The best online casinos will have either a mobile app or they will be fully optimized for mobile devices. Either way, this is an absolute must.

Manage Your Bankroll

This is perhaps the most important tip of all as gambling responsibly is how you can continue to have fun day in day out. Managing your bankroll is about setting a budget and sticking to it. It’s also about finding and taking advantage of any promotions that save you spending too much of your own cash.

Responsible Gaming at Online Casinos

The best online casinos take responsible gaming very seriously and will offer help and resources if you need them. This includes things like the ability to set limits on your deposits or gaming. Many will also provide tips and guidance on spotting the early signs of problem gambling.
Online casinos try their best to help, but the best advice for anyone who needs support can be found at organizations like:

Are Online Casinos Legal in the US?

The US online casino industry first became regulated when Delaware legalized online casinos in 2012. New Jersey came soon after and both states launched regulated online casinos in 2013. At present, there are seven states that have regulated online casino markets – Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.

2024.05.21 07:55 MelodysSafePlace i've spent the last 2 years trying to get on disability just for it to be getting fully denied soon

i applied for disability in July of 2022 (i have autism and also something physically wrong with my knee but my doctor hasn't figured out what it actually is yet.)
after over a year of going back and forth with the stupid disability place and them sending me packets upon packets or the stupidest questions and me filling them out and sending it back and phone calls and a meeting with a psychiatrist and all kinds of jumping through hoops, they denied it. my autism was diagnosed when i was a toddler and they told me i most likely won't get disability without an updated diagnosis, like they think autism is just something i can outgrow or something.
well, the whole time I've been dealing with them I've also been trying to get refered somewhere to get an updated autism diagnosis but it's very hard to find someone who will diagnose adults, is close enough for me to actually go to (because diagnoses like that usually take multiple appointments), takes my insurance, and doesn't have a 2+ year waiting list. my doctor found me one single place that actually met the criteria (it still had like a 3 year waiting list but beggers cant be choosers) and sent a referral for me but they just never got back to my doctor or me because I also called and asked about it. I've also been doing blood work and x rays and physical therapy and trying really hard to figure out what's wrong with my knee but nothing has come up yet so I'm still just suffering with that.
Well, i appealed the disability thing, they sent it to a judge cause that was the next step, i had a hearing with a judge and a job expert and the judge asked me why i felt like i couldn't work and i literally had a breakdown and cried and told him how i had one job before and it was a super basic job at goodwill working in the back sorting books and not dealing with the public but I still couldn't handle it. I explained how working that job made my knee swell up and be in near constant pain and how the job (working barely 10 hours a week) made me so exhausted that I literally couldn't function outside of work. I would go to work, come home, sleep until my next shift and repeat. I felt like a zombie. The only time I would function was the weekends (barely) and all of that energy and time would be spent on meal prepping for the week so I wouldn't starve because I knew I wouldn't have the energy to make food, and I would do the dishes that piled up all week and sometimes if I had enough energy I would even shower on the weekends. I was so depressed and exhausted and not functioning outside of work at all and one day I woke up at 6 am to my alarm for work and i decided I was either going to quit my job or I was going to off myself and i had the self awareness to quit my job instead of trying to delete myself. and i had such a big meltdown and told all of this to the judge and more. and then i had to sit there, still crying and trying to collect myself while the judge talked with the fricken job expert about how many 'low effort, readily available jobs' HYPOTHETICALLY could exist in my town (this was all based on some bullshit guestimating math equation instead of realistic research into the topic) and then he had the audacity to tell me he "wasn't sure" and "needed time to think about it" just to take 3 fricken months to send me a letter denying my case again because, according to their stupid bullshit, i participated in "substantial gainful activity" (the one job i worked for 3 months and quit so I wouldn't commit unalive) therefore i "can't be disabled."
and it just felt like a spit in the face. like this man really listened to me have a mental breakdown about how the easiest job i could find, working 2-3 hours a day 3 days a week, made me so depressed and nonfunctionial that i was about one more shift away from taking myself off this planet and how my knee hurt so bad i literally just wanted to cut my leg off right above it if it would make the pain stop, and about my autism and how i don't feel like a human i just feel like i was shoved into a human suit and thrown on my ass like 'good luck, figure it out.' and he really listened to all that and still decided that 'im not disabled.' and 'theres plenty of jobs I can do, I just have to find one.' like I'm so stressed and depressed and worried about money constantly that I barely have the capacity to take on anything else, let alone another job that's gonna make me wanna blow my brains out again. I got the letter today and I've cried like 3 times about it because it really feels like I'm already down on the ground and he just decided to kick me with spikey steel toed boots.
I have one more appeal left, where it goes to a disability council (whatever that means) and their options are 1. deny it (most likely to happen) 2. send it back to the judge to 'look at it again' (basically guaranteed for it to get denied) 3. approve it (very very highly unlikely) or 4. throw it out (why is that even an option? That's so stupid) so its like an 80%+ chance of it getting denied from here, and if it gets denied at this point then i have to start all over and the last two years of waiting and hoops and paperwork and crying and pain and feeling like a puppet on display trying to "prove I'm disabled" will just mean literally nothing. And that's a really depressing thing to think about, that the last 2 years of my time and effort and humiliation were basically for nothing.
Besides that, if it gets denied again and I have to start all over, and there's no point in even doing that unless i can get new 'evidence' (like an updated autism diagnosis, which I can't because the one place thats close enough, takes my insurance, and actually tests adults, has a 2+ year waiting list and also won't fricken get back to me about even getting me on that stupid waiting list) and even if I do get an updated diagnosis, they can still deny me disability. I hate this so much.
I feel like a giant brick wall has fallen on top of me. I'm so exhausted mentally and I'm so stressed and I'm so tired of worrying about money and not being able to buy things i need and just barely surviving and I'm just so exhausted of it all. i live with my boyfriend and he has disability and it all goes to the bills and stuff so we have water and power and things, but most times we don't have cleaning supplies or toilet paper or things like that because we don't have the money for it. we only have food because we have foodstamps. I've had my whole wardrobe since highschool and I'm down to 2 pairs of shorts and 3 pairs of leggings because they all rip at the thighs after a while and I'm running out but I don't have money for clothes, y'know? And my boyfriends mom owns the house we live in (she bought it so he wouldn't have to worry about rent and stuff, but then told him he has to pay her back rent for all the years he's been here when he has the money) and she recently told me that when/if i get on disability she expects back rent from me all the way from 2021, which would be like $20,000 at this point and that number just keeps building and it feels like a giant tower looming over me. I don't feel like I'm living, I feel like I'm just barely surviving. And i know there are people out there that have bigger worries then running out of toothpaste and shampoo and not being able to afford more, but like. It's still very real worries I have and I just feel like garbage about it and I'm constantly worried about money and it's just so exhausting.
And to have someone look at me and disect my situation and basically tell me that I'm "not disabled" and basically that I dont deserve money that would help me possibly survive is like a punch in the gut. It hurts, a lot. And I'm so exhausted and upset and frustrated and i really don't know what to do anymore, about any of this stuff.

2024.05.21 07:42 ThrowRA1234653256447 My fiancée wants to have a two weddings, an elopement and then a larger one. At the second she wants all the traditions of a normal wedding to achieve this she wants to omit from telling people that fact we have already been married.

Hey cross posting from relationship advice as I didn't get any results there.
My partner and I have since prior to our engagement planned a private almost secret elopement on the other side of the world from our friends and family. We have booked it in a picturesque town by a lake in the earliest time slot that was available. We have since extended the invite to our immediate family. I without consultation extended to friends and am in the process of uninviting them. Her sister suggested that the extended family be invited (I have no extended family) her's is large (at least from my perspective lol) and a handful are wealthy enough to come around the world for it but have no desire to confirm attendance until after large deposits will have to have been paid. In this category is also her mother who my partner wants to be there. Her mother is deflecting from providing her any assurance because she's a narcissistic. This is destabilising things and now it's basically just my immediate family and her sister coming which feels unfair.
The plans for the wedding have grown. Originally we were to get a photographer a suit and she would buy a designer dress that she could reuse throughout her life and we would have a reception in our home town to celebrate with everyone else. Now she has a wedding dress, we are planning a lunch/dinner for those that can come and costs are really starting to mount as our currency is quite weak. I have many time suggested uninviting the extended family and I think we'll go down that route.
Last night, she got the okay to have the 'wedding' at her mum's farm. This is where we have been hoping to hold our reception.
However as of yesterday, she now wants a wedding, walking down the aisle, ring exchange the whole works. I kinda want that for her. I want our friends and family to see her in her dress, coming to marry me. While it is pretty extreme in terms of scope creep. I do want that for her and I believe we could control costs in line with the reception. So we are at this point mostly in alignment.
So that everyone gets the full excitement of this event she want to hid the fact we were actually married over a month earlier. I said that would be bad as the reveal would be that all that 'full excitement' was a lie. She insists no one cares when the legal marriage is, and I do too, which is my point. Why not be honest that we had a separate private ceremony previously? She believes this may disway people from coming. I say let those fickle people not come. We be honest with everyone who does come.
We talked through several situations and she seems very firm that we hide our marriage off all social media until this second wedding. I want to declare our marriage. I want to be able to fully celebrate my legal marriage even if it's just signing some papers and getting some photos, post about our honeymoon. She thinks that will stop her celebration of the second wedding from feeling as good. I am very concerned about lying by omission here, to which she says she's tell people who ask (the truth) and the most important people already know the truth. Everyone else is in the dark until we obviously don't sign the paperwork and the ceremony just ends.
I feel this is built off insecurity on my partner's part and I have tried to reassure her that everyone who cares about her will be excited to come to a 'sequel' wedding as people on Google call them. And have asked explicitly who she believes will not come, yet have not received a clear answer.
How do I reassure my partner everyone will come and celebrate knowing the truth? Am I being unreasonable as to how a guest may feel about being kept in the dark? Do you know of other people who have done this? Can you still walk down the aisle of a sequel wedding?

I recently tried the Rose Cottage 12Packs Floral Hanging Potpourri Bags in my home and was pleasantly surprised by the unique blend of scents. What stood out to me was how these natural air fresheners truly lived up to their promise of lasting for months. The large size sachets were perfect for tackling the smell in my closet, and even better, they worked well as a shoe odor eliminator too!
One of the things I appreciated about these fragrances was that they were made with essential oils created by French professional perfumers. The combination of these scents, along with the Japanese paper packaging, truly made for an incredible and long-lasting fragrance experience.
I also found that the large size sachets were more suitable for bigger spaces, as their fragrance did tend to dissipate a bit faster in smaller areas. Nevertheless, if you place multiple sachets strategically around your space, you'll still enjoy the pleasant scent.
Overall, the Rose Cottage air fresheners were a welcomed addition to my home, providing a natural and long-lasting solution to freshen up the air. Not to mention, the beautiful designs made them great as gifts for friends and family!

In my daily life, I've come to rely on these SKPPC closet air fresheners as a simple yet effective solution for maintaining a pleasant scent throughout my home. These flower-scented sachets, available in a pack of 15, are perfect for freshening up drawers, closets, and even suitcases. The long-lasting fragrance can last for up to two months, making them a convenient and cost-effective choice.
One of the features that stood out to me is their versatility. You can place these air fresheners in various spaces to fill your life with sweet aromas, keeping you in a good mood all day long. Whether it's in drawers, closets, suitcases, or handbags, these sachets have got you covered.
However, there's a catch: these sachets need to be stored in a closed space, away from direct sunlight, to preserve the aroma. It took me a while to figure out the best way to store them, but once I did, the scent lasted much longer. Additionally, it's essential to open the package when you first use the sachets, as leaving them unopened can cause the aroma to fade over time.
Although some users have reported issues with the scent strength, I've found that these closet air fresheners are a great gift idea. Their sweet aroma can brighten someone's day and make a lovely present for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or even mother's day. To get the most out of these sachets, gently shake them to encourage diffusion and enjoy the long-lasting, delightful fragrance they provide.

Recently, I started using Arm & Hammer Odor Busterz Deodorizer for my household and found them to be quite versatile. The natural strength of baking soda in these deodorizers makes it effective in various small spaces.
What stood out to me is the unique perforation in the deodorizer balls, which allows for maximum odor elimination right at the spot. The sachet filled with baking soda and Arm & Hammer's clean burst scent works wonderfully to eliminate odors for up to 60 days and keeps the freshness intact.
One noticeable downside, though, is that the fragrance may be too strong for certain rooms, like kitchens or bathrooms. The scent might even make your dishes or medicine smell and taste odd.
Overall, I've found these deodorizers to be quite efficient in eliminating odors in small areas. It's just essential to be cautious about using them in highly fragrance-sensitive spaces or if you prefer a lighter scent.

Behold the AirBoss Closet Airfreshener in Lavender Fields - my daily savior in the battle against musty closets. The hook design is convenient, allowing me to hang it effortlessly in my wardrobe. The gel formula is water-based, making it environmentally friendly and easy to use. However, be prepared for a bit of evaporation, as the gel dries up within thirty days.
The scent itself is a lovely, calming lavender, perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere. The airfreshener works continuously, and I appreciate the absence of any harsh chemicals. But be mindful, once the gel has evaporated, you'll need to replace the product to maintain its effectiveness. Overall, it's a reliable and eco-friendly option for keeping your closet fresh and fragrant.

I've been using the Owevvin scented sachets for a while now, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer! I recently received this pack of sachets as a gift, and I must say, I'm quite impressed.
One of the things that stood out to me is the simplicity of their design. The sachets are lightweight and easy to use, making them perfect for filling up drawers and closets with a delightful scent. They also come in a variety of scents, so you can choose the one that suits your taste buds the best.
Now, let's talk about the packaging. Owevvin sachets come in a resealable bag, making it easy to store and reuse. The hook design on each sachet is a nice touch too, as it makes it convenient to hang them in multiple spaces.
Of course, no product is perfect, and the Owevvin scented sachets are no exception. The scent can sometimes be a little overpowering, so I suggest using them in moderation to prevent your space from smelling too strongly.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my experience using these scented sachets. They're perfect for a quick pick-me-up or as a thoughtful gift for friends during special occasions. With their long-lasting effect and easy-to-use design, I highly recommend giving Owevvin scented sachets a try!

I recently tried out Professor Killamoth's Cedar Chips and Lavender Sachets, and I have to say, they were a game-changer for my wardrobe. The pack of 20 sachets was perfect, as it allowed me to easily place them in various parts of my closet without feeling overwhelmed.
I was particularly impressed by the long-lasting fragrance these sachets emanated. The combination of premium cedar and lavender truly created a delightful aroma that filled my closet. It was like walking into a little oasis of freshness every time I opened the door.
However, I did notice that the sachets had a tendency to detach from their hangers when I opened the closet. A small piece of double-sided tape would have been a helpful addition to the package to secure them better.
Overall, I'm a big fan of these Cedar Chips and Lavender Sachets. They've not only helped to keep my clothes smelling fresh but also added a touch of luxury to my wardrobe. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to revitalize their closet and enjoy a pleasant fragrance with every wear.

I've been using MYARO's Gardenia Scented Sachets for quite some time now, and I must say, they've definitely made a difference in my daily life. These sachets are infused with natural fragrance and are perfect for freshening up various spaces around the house. They're great for drawers, closets, and even gym bags - any place where you want a pleasant scent to linger.
One thing that stood out to me was the packaging. Each sachet comes individually sealed in a poly-bag, ensuring that the fragrance remains fresh for as long as possible. This attention to detail is something that I truly appreciate.
However, there were a few cons as well. Some users mentioned that the scents didn't last as long as they hoped, and that they had to use multiple sachets to get the desired effect. Additionally, a couple of reviewers experienced issues with the delivery and customer service.
Despite these minor setbacks, I've found MYARO's scented sachets to be a reliable and pleasant addition to my household. They've definitely made my drawers and closets smell fresher, and for that, I'm grateful.

I recently fell in love with the Good Home Co Closet and Drawer Sachets in lavender scent. These biodegradable sachets are not only gentle on the environment but also on our skin. They're free from parabens, phosphates, sulfates, and phthalates, and being 100% vegan and cruelty-free adds to their appeal.
However, their durability leaves a bit to be desired. They don't last very long, be it in my closet or drawer. It's almost like using the lavender sachets as dryer sheets - now that's an idea!
Despite this slight drawback, I still enjoy using these lovely fragranced beads tucked away in soft, beautiful fabric sachets. They add a sense of tranquility and freshness to any space they're placed in.

I couldn't resist trying these Joanssore rosemary sachets when I caught wind of their rave reviews. The smell of fresh, dried rosemary filled my closet, transforming it from a dusty corner to a welcoming haven. The vibrant color of the sachets is a plus, adding a touch of elegance to my drawers and closets.
Something I noticed, though, is that the strong scent of rosemary might be overpowering for some, making me feel slightly lightheaded. However, the company assures customers that they follow the best practices in their sachets, so I'll keep an eye on the potency and adjust accordingly.
While I can't say I've used these as a gift yet, they've certainly become a favorite of mine for personal home use. Every time I open my closet, the smell of rosemary takes me to a place of calm and relaxation. Overall, it's a small luxury that has made a big difference in my daily life.

The set includes 4 lavender, 4 ocean, and 4 cedar wood sachets, all packed in a convenient 12-pack. In my quest for a fragrance-free deodorizer that could tackle my musty closet, I stumbled upon the airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel. It's no secret that our closets hold some of our most beloved belongings, but they often harbor some less-than-lovely smells as well. This product promised to tackle the odor from mold, mildew, tobacco, perspiration, and even shoes, and with a time frame of up to 4 months, I was intrigued to say the least.
Upon opening the container, I was immediately greeted by the neutral scent, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a welcome change from the overwhelming fragrances that some deodorizers come with. The gel was thick, but applied easily to the corners of my closet. I was eager to see if it could live up to the hype.
The airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel worked wonders on my closet. It absorbed the musty odor that had been lingering for months, leaving behind a fresh scent. However, it was a bit of a bulky package, as I received it in a plastic jar instead of the style shown in the picture. This added a bit of extra space-taking in my closet, but it was a minor inconvenience.
Overall, the airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel did its job and neutralized the odor in my closet. The fragrance-free aspect was a plus and the gel lasted for months, making it a worthwhile investment. But the extra bulk in packaging was a bit of a downer. Nevertheless, it's a product that gets the job done and keeps my closet smelling fresh.

I recently tried out the Renuzit Pure Breeze Pet Air Fresheners, and I must say, they really did a great job in keeping my home smelling fresh and clean. These cones are perfect for small spaces like bathrooms and closets, and they released a pleasant scent that was just the right balance between fresh and subtle.
One thing that really stood out to me was their adjustable fragrance levels. I could easily control the intensity of the scent, which was perfect for my preference. Additionally, these cones are easy to use - just turn them upside down when they run out of fragrance, and it's effortless to see when they need to be replaced.
However, I've noticed that their scent tends to weaken over time. It used to last up to three weeks, but now it doesn't even last three days. I would've appreciated if it lasted longer, as it would mean fewer replacements and more savings.
Still, I recommend the Renuzit Pure Breeze Pet Air Fresheners to anyone looking for a simple yet effective way to keep their home smelling fresh. They're affordable and easy to use, plus they help control odors without overpowering the room with an overwhelming scent.

2024.05.21 06:37 SailorPochama My Palia wishlist

These are just a few things I’d really love to see added to the game, that is if it survives 🥺.
Being able to mail villagers and friends
Being able to trade or put in crafting orders for furniture to other players
Being able to release your star quality bugs and fish on your lot
Being able to place star quality gatherables and crops
Musical instruments and the ability to group up with other players and perform.
More pets, and the ability to interact with them such as feeding, petting, leaving them at home. Heck even being able to have them “sniff out” rare gatherables would be neat.
I am not a fan of battle passes but I think a monthly pass could do a lot of good for Palia, something that the entire community can work towards, and a reason to actually do things with other players other than groves. For instance they could make it so you could buy a premium currency to advance or earn it in game via weeklies or community based challenges such as “catch 20 common butterflies” “pick 50 flowers around kilima” etc.
Some kind of special bug hunt and fishing event that happens weekly where you must catch a certain amount of bugs or fish server wide to prompt a super hunt!
I would also really love to see more options in the shop and the ability to buy pieces either separately or as a set.
Add in new hairstyles/make up/glasses/hats etc to be purchased or even crafted through working with Jel.
Dyes for clothing! I would absolutely buy dyes to change my outfits to the colors that I prefer as most if not all of the clothing in the game is either pastel or brightly colored.
I’ve been playing steadily since the closed alpha and beta and have seen the game change a lot and I love this game but I do feel like it is truly lacking in the “mmo” and “community” aspects.
Again these are things I’d personally love to see added than I think would add so much more to the game and make it feel more of a multiplayer game rather than a solo game with other people running around.

2024.05.21 06:27 AJirawatP My mom looks very poised to buy this product called BIM100. It's a mangoesteen extract claimed to be able to heal lots of things and it's fricking expensive. I know it looks very sus, but can you help pointing me to a reliable source of information to determine it's a legit product or it's a scam?

Yesterday, my dad got identified to likely have a nasal cancer. And our next doctor appointment is in July, it's a long period of worrying time. So my mom is in the reading frenzy finding ways to maybe cure him and she found this BIM100 mangoesteen extract.
After a bit of reading myself I know it's most likely not worth the price, or probably straight up a scam. They claimed they have a legit paper on the effect of mangoesteen extract but I can't seem to find it on google. Still can't deny the probability of it's in science thesis database but I just dont know where to look. I looked in Pantip and the result is mixed. Some claimed it had good effects, some claimed it's no different than just eating mangoesteen. There's one news from 7 years ago from manager online says that FDA is warning that this product could be over-advertising, but no further news since then.
I still need to convince my mom to not buy it too. So any concrete evidence/information is appreciated, it'll help in the convincing process.
