Would a sorting mechanism for IQ in the job market elicit better outcomes for the country? I think the answer is an obvious 'yes'.
I think filtering people up the chain via an IQ test would vastly improve efficiency and progress in the country multi-folds. There are so many intelligent people who, for whatever reason, opt-out or bide their time with inane things. If given the opportunity I'm sure many would gladly take up the opportunity to work a more technical role.
Some may say this is shallow and unfair to those who put in their time. I'm sorry, but brighter people affect change better in more powerful roles.
This is one reason I wasn't totally against the WEF and their plans for the world. They had a system in mind of doling out jobs and partitioning society based on competency. There was an acknowledgement that many people who end up in positions of authority get there via aggression, smooth-talking, or family ties. They don't make the best decisions and squander the potential of the company affecting thousands around them.
What do you guys think? If you were playing a strategy video game the answer would be obvious. We could just bypass IQ tests altogether and do fMRI scans for grey matter. Barring anyone with personality disorders, drug abuse, or laziness I think we need people with bigger brains in higher positions and it should be systematic. Relying on the free market only gets us part of the way there.

Tldr: bought a house with my partner in late 2022. We broke up in early 2024 (this was wildly unexpected). I’m trying to sell but I’m underwater. The house has been on the market for nearly 90 days, with questionable strategy from my agent including small price reductions. Do I take the listing down and commit to paying off my soft second DPA to reduce my overall principal and more likely break even in a year?
I’ve posted here before with more detail, but my partner and I are both on loans and a deed for a home we’ve owned for ~20 months. He’s paid nothing from closing to mortgage to maintenance; we’re on good terms and I’ll continue to function as if he isn’t involved — this is not a concern.
My ideal plan is to sell, live with my folks for a while to pay off debt and then relocate to rent. BUT my house has been on the market for nearly 90 days without an offer, and listen — I already know the price is the problem. Original comps in February ranged $235k-$260k IIRC, but I’m fairly sure prices have fallen in my market.
February 26 – listed at $255k
April 13 – $252k
April 25 – $247k with $3k concession
May 16 – $240k
I have a silent second through the Chenoa fund, so my combined principals are ~$228k, $218k+$10k. If I’m estimating 10% in seller’s fees on $240k, I’m looking at about $12k difference that I’ll need to cover. I have $13k saved, and save about $1k a month.
Option 1: I’m fine with wiping out my savings to sell, but considering costs from inspection discoveries or an offer below $240k – I’m starting to think I’d have to take a personal loan (or 401k loan) to realistically sell.
Option 2: I can comfortably continue to pay the mortgage. I can use my $13k in savings to pay off all personal debt, freeing up an additional $800 a month. Then I can take $1,000 of my monthly savings ($1.8k), apply it to the silent second and do minor updates over a year. Relist in a year when I’ve paid off the second mortgage and have a better position to negotiate sale price. (Minor updates would include new flooring, interior painting, light fixtures, maybe exterior paint)
I’m leaning 30/70 between Option 1/Option 2. Option 2 is the smarter choice, of course. I just dread the idea of being back in that house or back in that town for another year. I want Option 1 to work desperately, but I think I’m just accepting now that it won’t.
Do I make the smart choice, give it maybe 2 more weeks then pull the listing? Any angles I’m not considering?

Hiya, I need help mathing the exp boosts I have specifically the overlapping of Heat of Battle and Squadron Battle Manual. I want to start off by explaining what EXP boosts I have in the beginning and then the EXP boosts I get when I apply these two items.
Okay lets play this out. I login and get prepared and think about the other EXP boosts that I have:
Scenario 2: FC is doing Heat of battle 3, initially have Squadron turned off. I would run roulette with a mentor and killing the 1st boss gave me +328% already?????????? Right before the 2nd boss, I used the Squadron Battle Manual, killing 2nd boss still gave me only +328%??? Note I mean 328% is a lot but the Squadron bonus didn't do anything????
Scenario 3: I visit another world, FC bonus is now gone, i have squadron turned on. I would run roulette with a mentor and killing 1st boss already gives me +328%?????? 2nd boss irrelevant. So does that mean squadron battle manual automatically gives 15% plus more?????
Help me make this make sense thank you.

Okay lets play this out. I login and get prepared and think about the other EXP boosts that I have:
- I have Armoury Bonus which gives +100% exp when defeating enemies. This is automatically applied to jobs that are 10 levels lower than your highest job you have in your account. Note that once you hit level 80, and you have another job level 90, your armoury bonus on the other jobs gets reduced to half bonus.
- I have access to Mentor exp bonus which gives me +___?% more exp in dungeons. You have to be in the novice network AND you have to party up with a Mentor when going to a dungeon. Note it only works up to level 80. The wiki doesn't tell me exactly how much exp you get... but i'm just going to calculate it at the very end
- I have Rested EXP that gives +50% extra exp. You slowly gain rested exp the longer you're logged out from a sanctuary city. When you log back in, you can see your exp bar has a extra overlapping line to it.
- I have my Azeyma's Earrings it gives +30% exp when my current job is level 90 and below
- I eat my my meals which gives +3% exp 30 minutes duration. You can eat 2 at a time so that u only have to worry about that every hour.
- This is Heat of Battle. Its a Free Company action that gives extra exp in dungeons after you defeat a mini-boss or boss. Theres 3 of them: version 1, 2, or 3. They give either +5%, +10% or +15% extra exp in that order. The link i provided is the version II (10%). I double check this and consistently my Free Company runs this everyday but sometimes they do version 3.
- This is Squadron Battle Manual. An item you consume that gives you +15% extra exp in dungeons after you defeat mini-boss or boss. This also has a description of , "Overwrites company actions with similar effects." Note that I will initially have this off. I will use this when im going to kill a 2nd boss to compare.

I've always had trouble socially relating to people; I'm so insecure and afraid of rejection, and I also had strict parents. Throughout the years, I've gained a bit of freedom for myself but it's not enough (I still live my parents).
I've always wanted to get close to people and have friends (I currently have just one) and a relationship, but I'm also afraid that I'm not interesting enough, that I won't know what to talk about, etc. So my strategy has always been to act cold towards people and wait for them to approach me first. If they approach me, it must mean that they have at least some interest in me...
In the past, I often found myself daydreaming about how a loving relationship would look like: he would love me a lot, accept me for who I am, not judge me for my physical little imperfections, have great emotional and physical chemistry, and I would love him back just the same. I know it might sound too perfect, but that's what I know I've always craved.
I have had a very few relationships/situationships where the men just never asked me to be their girlfriend and make things official. I think those "relationships" failed in part because I was so cold towards them even if inside I wanted to kiss or hug them first. I always hoped they asked me to be their girlfriend. Also, I always stayed till the end, until THEY didn't want anything to do with me anymore.
So with my current boyfriend, all things seem different. I met him at a mall. HE approached me first. At first I wasn't really attracted to him physically but he started telling me about his life and his varied life experiences. He seemed interesting. We exchanged numbers. Then we started going out. He's very different from me. He has a different clothing style than mine, he likes urban music, he has tattoos and has 1 piercing.
My very first impression of him was that he looked like the bad-boy type, so I didn't think he was interested in anything serious. But right on the second date, he mentioned he was looking for someone who really cared for him. He said something like: "it's nice to have someone that cares for you, even for the little things and even asks if you ate already, if you slept well, etc." Before that moment, I didn't have high expectations and was probably ready to accept whatever 🤦🏻♀️.
As time went by, I started liking more things on him, finding a few things in common. Until he asked me to be his girlfriend after one month of hanging out. I had waited for that moment for so long, and it finally came, but I didn't know how to feel. I felt kind of sad. Even though I knew he and me were looking for a serious relationship, I felt fearful, but I kept going.
We've shared beautiful moments so far. I feel at home, peaceful, respected, and loved when I'm with him. But sometimes I catch myself judging him for small imperfections. I'm physically attracted to him and we have good chemistry there, but I can't help noticing what he does "wrong." When we text, he sometimes writes with bad grammar and I can't help but judge him inside. Sometimes he sends me videos of him dancing happily for me, and I can't help but think "how isn't he afraid of being silly in front of me or even others?" I believe me judging him might stem from the same type of judgment I received when growing up. I just hate it and don't want to be like this. I know no one is perfect and yet my mind is obsessed with perfection.
My BF has had a difficult life and experiences, and yet he smiles all the time, has fun, is free, and has lots of love to give. He even says he loves me, but I don't feel sure to say it back to him. My mind tells me that I'm probably just using him and getting his love while I'm not able to love him back. I feel like a bad person for that. I do care for him. I've cried with him listening to how he feels when sad of bc of past hurtful events. When I look at him, I see someone sincere. I love to have him close, hug him, kiss him, feel his odor, listen to his voice, listen to him singing. Yet I have these other horrible thoughts that I can't let go.
I feel like I wasn't really ready for a relationship as I believed, and that there's a lot of work I need to do on myself, but I don't want to lose him either. I can't decide if I really like him, if I'm obsessed, if I'm dependant or what.
Need some advice on what to do and hear others perspective on this.

2024.05.22 02:00 SpeakerLimp [Request] [STEAM] Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition aka this is what happened when you put Siri in charge( $59.99)
First of all, I would like to thanks Epic Game Store for giving away the Horizon Zero Dawn for free, cause if it weren't for EGS, I would never dive into Horizon universe and would miss out Aloy's story, and also my friend for gifted me his brother's old pc so I can play it. Both of you are the MVP.
Anyway, what's Horizon Forbidden West, you ask? Well, it's a sequel from the previous game, Horizon Zero Dawn. The Horizon universe tell us a tale about post-apocalyptic Earth and trying to survive while battling robots. Yeah, yeah, I know, post-apocalyptic world, what's new, right? Been there, done that, post-apocalyptic is the hot commodity for story telling.
But it's how they tell the story, and how, in this case, the VAs delivered the character's emotions. In the previous game, the dev left some crumbs here and there about what happened in the past, and how people trying to survive during the apocalypse event in form of audio logs and chatlog that you can collect as you explore the world. And of course we finally found out what happened during the Main Story line. But even then, it's not 100% retelling the story of the past, and Aloy (and also myself) have more questions than ever before.
I mentioned about how voice actoactress play a huge role for video game. and I know graphic/animation also play a huge role for making the character doesn't look like they just woke up from 1000 years sleep during an emotional scenes. And Aloy's VA really did an amazing job of delivering Aloy's character, from emotional scene to her banters with the NPCs, or even just her random rambling whenever I try to jump from the mountain "This is easier when I was a kid" yes, Aloy, thank you for reminding me. The rest of the team also did an amazing job, my eyes were watery during some scenes at the prologue and early chapter.
I'm the type of person that didn't really care for graphic as long as I can play it. I literally finished Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward with just 10 fps, I will forever grateful to everyone that was unfortunately met me in duty roulette cause I kept dying thanks to 10 fps and triple digit ping, that's why I changed to drg so if I died people would just like "ah yes, dead drg, what's new" and gently pat my silly catboi's head and move on.
But then again, my favorite game of all time is Mass Effect (oof, bad choice, I know) and, well, BioWare isn't famous for having state of the art animation, it's the story, it's how they deliver said story, and most of all, how with just listening to Liara's voice can make me cry like a baby. God, I miss my blue wife so much.
Opps, we getting sidetrack, I'm sorry.
But, I'm also not a hypocrite and seeing the graphic for Horizon Forbidden West makes forget what is reality for a second because, damn, those graphic looks amazing. Like have you see Aloy's hair?? Hello! Wish I have that hair. But I do still hoping there still some hidden glitch we can exploit, like the one on previous game where you have to climb a mountain while riding a horse to go back to the previous location.
I want to see what's waiting for Aloy at the Horizon of the Forbidden West, But, sadly, I can't afford the game now, I'm still looking for job, so far the furthest I get was interview phase, and of course, none of them get back to me ever again. And payment I get from doing odd jobs here and there is for helping my parents with groceries and bills.
I know the game is still expensive as shit, and I'm asking a lot from you. I will forever grateful to you if you're kind enough to gift this to me.

Anyway, what's Horizon Forbidden West, you ask? Well, it's a sequel from the previous game, Horizon Zero Dawn. The Horizon universe tell us a tale about post-apocalyptic Earth and trying to survive while battling robots. Yeah, yeah, I know, post-apocalyptic world, what's new, right? Been there, done that, post-apocalyptic is the hot commodity for story telling.
But it's how they tell the story, and how, in this case, the VAs delivered the character's emotions. In the previous game, the dev left some crumbs here and there about what happened in the past, and how people trying to survive during the apocalypse event in form of audio logs and chatlog that you can collect as you explore the world. And of course we finally found out what happened during the Main Story line. But even then, it's not 100% retelling the story of the past, and Aloy (and also myself) have more questions than ever before.
I mentioned about how voice actoactress play a huge role for video game. and I know graphic/animation also play a huge role for making the character doesn't look like they just woke up from 1000 years sleep during an emotional scenes. And Aloy's VA really did an amazing job of delivering Aloy's character, from emotional scene to her banters with the NPCs, or even just her random rambling whenever I try to jump from the mountain "This is easier when I was a kid" yes, Aloy, thank you for reminding me. The rest of the team also did an amazing job, my eyes were watery during some scenes at the prologue and early chapter.
I'm the type of person that didn't really care for graphic as long as I can play it. I literally finished Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward with just 10 fps, I will forever grateful to everyone that was unfortunately met me in duty roulette cause I kept dying thanks to 10 fps and triple digit ping, that's why I changed to drg so if I died people would just like "ah yes, dead drg, what's new" and gently pat my silly catboi's head and move on.
But then again, my favorite game of all time is Mass Effect (oof, bad choice, I know) and, well, BioWare isn't famous for having state of the art animation, it's the story, it's how they deliver said story, and most of all, how with just listening to Liara's voice can make me cry like a baby. God, I miss my blue wife so much.
Opps, we getting sidetrack, I'm sorry.
But, I'm also not a hypocrite and seeing the graphic for Horizon Forbidden West makes forget what is reality for a second because, damn, those graphic looks amazing. Like have you see Aloy's hair?? Hello! Wish I have that hair. But I do still hoping there still some hidden glitch we can exploit, like the one on previous game where you have to climb a mountain while riding a horse to go back to the previous location.
I want to see what's waiting for Aloy at the Horizon of the Forbidden West, But, sadly, I can't afford the game now, I'm still looking for job, so far the furthest I get was interview phase, and of course, none of them get back to me ever again. And payment I get from doing odd jobs here and there is for helping my parents with groceries and bills.
I know the game is still expensive as shit, and I'm asking a lot from you. I will forever grateful to you if you're kind enough to gift this to me.

Greetings,
Lately, I've been stuck in one of those spirals, can't seem to find that game that sticks. The last game I had as the 'go-to' was Against the Storm, a nifty rogue-like city builder. I pick it back up here and there as it's a decent game to jump on during the week. Not that I'm looking for a strategy game specifically, but something that feels weighty meaning, decisions matter. I love slower combat games like what we see in The Souls series, and in Monster Hunter, but I'm not up for that level of difficulty currently. Something to be excited to come home to after work for a few hours.
I don't mind a potato chip game here and there, been playing Diablo 4 Season four very casually, but playing it over time just makes me sad. It's like watching a loved one just all washed up and frankly just a complete mess. What happened to you Diablo... Though the story is good.
Another potato chip, XDefiant, (Ubi of Duty? Call of Soft?) has been moving around the friend group as its free. I played it a bit back last year when it was in closed beta. It's not bad, but gets to the same level of what am I doing with myself moment(s) after a bit.
In any case, I bought Manor Lords. It's fun, though a little too easy for me. I love Battle Brothers, Frostpunk, and, Darkest Dungeon (1&2) with 1-2 mistakes and its game over style strategy games. Excited to see what's to come for Manor Lords in the future.
Is anyone else upset Homeworld 3 didn't do so great out of the gate? Played the series since the original. Hopefully, this one will turn around with time. Likely a sale game for me. I've got Hades II on my radar, but am likely going to wait for it to leave EA before playing. Pacific Drive has piqued my interest, so if anyone has played it let me know what you think.
As for the backlog I've got the following, though none of them are jumping out at me -Cult of the lamb -Death Trash -Dome Keeper -Dune: Spice Wars -Graveyard Keeper

Hello all. So yes I passed the a+ core 1 today. I'm very happy with that but the primary reason for creating this post is to help people like me when I first started looking into this 3 months ago trying to figure out the best way to do things. I hope that by sharing my methods for preparing for this exam that it may help someone else that was in my position a few months ago.
If you're like me and you you take or took picking up a plus or another certification seriously, you probably have read a bunch of stuff on Reddit about how people passed and what they did or even people that failed and what they did or didn't do. And the question I had was, what should I do?
I work from home at what is basically a help desk job so I have a lot of downtime. I set out to do 2 hours a day of studying. This included watching videos, looking up information about material that would be covered on the exam, making flashcards, and using the flashcards. At first I started with Mike Myers course on udemy. I then took some practice tests on examcompass.com. those practice exams are 25 questions and therefore short, and cover about two and a half topics that are relevant to the exam. I did Mike Myers course and realized that there was a bit of information that was not covered. So after making flashcards off of the notes from his course, I then went and watch Professor messer's course. I took notes on everything Professor Messer covered that I didn't know from Mike Myers or anything that I felt I needed more practice on. From that giant piece of notes I made flashcards out of that and practice those ones. I then did a bunch of those practice exams on examcompass.com and I made flashcards out of the concepts and if applicable, questions that I just straight up got wrong on those. The flash card website/service I used is called Quizlet and I like it because it has a mobile app that I find easy to use and whatnot. It also has good compatibility with the desktop version so I would use the desktop version to create my flashcards and then use the mobile version to actually study them. So I'd study them when someone was driving me somewhere or basically anytime that it was a good time for me to do it just to make sure I hit my 2 hours every day. I did 2 hours a day for 2 months doing these sorts of activities. I used an app a Time logger on my cell phone to track how much time I had spent studying in a given day. You can use the app to track how much time you spent studying in the current day and in other days. It's very easy to use in this app kind of carried me if I'm being honest
a random note I do have pretty bad inattentive ADHD but I didn't let that be an excuse. I just buckled down and I did it and it was hard to focus at times but I just did it anyway because I really was committed to passing.
I think there's lots of ways that you can successfully go about doing this. Other people have talked about how they've done it on this subreddit successfully and I just wanted to in detail how I did it to perhaps provide someone like me the means for a successful study and preparation strategy.
If you have any questions about my exam or my means of studying or if you would like some of my study materials I'm happy to provide whatever. Spent basically $15 on the udemy course and the money for the voucher for the exam and that's it so you really can self study basically for free. I probably could have passed without Mike Myers course but to be honest I probably will go for Core 2 by using two courses again. Bottom left: I'm torn between guaranteed taverns and guaranteed blacksmith. Guaranteed clerics are a must, curse is a HUGE DPS nerf for 90% of builds. Straight left: Spoiled for Choice and Thief in the Shadows are too good to ignore. They make getting the rares/epics/legendaries that carry you into late much more common. Top right: Secret Service gives a nice way to spend extra bombs. Speed is nice for being able to maneuver. Is there anything you disagree with it? I think the only things I wish I could have access to are Butterfly Effect and maybe one of the mimic skills. None of the others really seem worthwhile to me. |

Many leaders in AI give AGI release dates between 2025-2030. Most people that think AI won't take jobs are thinking of todays tech for the future. They don't consider how AGI would be like for AI to take jobs. Like the required technology and how those innovations could be achieved. People don't consider how embodied humanoid robots with AGI could also eliminate many jobs. People think trade jobs are safe. NVIDIA's project groot is training robots in simulation. Who's to say that the robots can't learn to do all tasks. Maybe not in a year, but five years is a lot of progress with the rate AI is advancing. Even if we don't have AGI now, AI will be replacing jobs. If one person can use AI to do the work of one team, then those people who would have been on a team would be laid off. Especially when Agents roll around in 1-2 years.
Sometimes it really worries me about the people who go to college to get a high paying jobs, especially first gen college students from immigrant families. Imagine working hard for the dream of getting a high paying job only to be automated in six years. What happens to their drive? All their hard work for what? Sold a long gone dream and had the carpet pulled under them. In my opinion, even jobs like doctors could be automated if humanoid robots had embodied AGI. Sure it might not be wanted at first, but it has the potential too.

AGI would just be the accumulation of all the different innovations needed to reach the requirements needed to meet the definition of what AGI is. Realistically, engineers could do this within six years. So even though I have a general idea of how AGI could be achieved by the end of the decade, I would just have to wait and see when these innovations are created.
Post Labor Info
Most people work to gain money because money is needed to survive and buy things that you want. The purpose of school is to provide people with a pathway to secure a high-paying job. When students say they work hard in school to be successful, it often means they want to get a high-paying career.
But if AI were to start taking over jobs, then our relationship with work would change. There would be mass unemployment, leading people to receive UBI. The government would be forced to give UBI unless they want societal collapse. No one would need to work to have money for survival and buying the things they want.
If everyone had free money, people would use the extra time on bettering their personal lives. They can spend more time with loved ones and do the things they want to do. There would be a paradigm shift in how society is set up. People wouldn’t have to work so hard at school or a job in the pursuit of money. A lot of people don’t like working anyway, especially since the cost of living is causing them to work harder and subsequently deal with mental health issues. Look at Gen Z doesn't want to work, antiwork, wage slavery, 9-5 rat race. Cost of living being unaffordable. People work so hard but can not get by. Hard work is not properly financially compensated and college grads can't find jobs. Meaning from work could be derived from work you want to do not work you do for a paycheck. Nasa researchers found that 98% of 5-year-old children fell into the “genius category of imagination.” This number dropped to 12% for 15-year-olds and to 2% for adults. The reason for this drop is the education system killing creativity. But with the traditional education system gone, that generation is likely to remain geniuses.

- [DIVS] VistaREIT Q1 dividend drops 23% q/q... VistaREIT [VREIT 1.75 ▲0.6%; 0% avgVol] [link] declared a Q1/24 dividend of ₱0.04132, payable on June 27 to shareholders of record as of June 5. The dividend has an annualized yield of 9.4% based on the previous closing price, which is considerably smaller than VREIT’s pre-dividend yield of 12.3%. The total amount of the dividend is ₱310 million, which is 100% of the ₱310 million in distributable income that VREIT declared for the quarter. Relative to VREIT’s IPO price, the div increased VREIT’s total stock and dividend return to 18.55% (up from 16.19%). The VREIT Q1 dividend is up 5.4% y/y, but down 23.2% q/q.
- MB: I don’t know enough about VREIT to understand the quarter-on-quarter drop. This is the first dividend decrease in VREIT history, so we don’t have a past narrative of a Q4 to Q1 dip to gain comfort that this is just part of the regular business cycle for a malls-based REIT. Last year, VREIT’s dividend actually increased 1.5% between Q4/22 and Q1/23. But a 23% drop? *FILRT** be like: VREIT, I owe you an apology, I wasn’t familiar with your game. Does anyone have context to help me understand this one?*
- [UPDATE] Ayala Land sells ₱3.2-B worth of AREIT in block sale... Ayala Land [ALI 29.00 ▼2.4%; 121% avgVol] [link] disclosed that it sold 98 million common shares of AREIT [AREIT 33.00 ▼3.4%; 848% avgVol] in a private placement block sale at a price of ₱32.45/share. ALI said that the transaction was two-times oversubscribed at the clearing price, which was 5% under AREIT’s closing price from the previous day. The transaction raised ₱3.18 billion for ALI and increased AREIT’s public float to facilitate the planned property-for-share swap between ALI and AREIT.
- MB: While I didn’t know exactly when this second block sale would happen, I did know that it was going to happen and I speculated back in January that it would probably come as a surprise and at a discounted price to AREIT’s market price at the time. Here’s a link to that analysis if you’re interested. At the end of the day, the first sale was at a 7.2% discount whereas this one was only at 5.0%, and the public float is now prepped to handle the SEC’s eventual approval of the transaction (whenever that happens) without plunging AREIT’s shareholders into chaos and confusion like what happened to *SP New Energy** [SPNEC 1.05 ▼0.9%; 85% avgVol] when the SEC approved its share swap and caught Leandro Leviste’s management team flat-footed.*
- [NEWS] Figaro confirms ₱1-B FY24 capex and “double-digit growth” target... Figaro [FCG 0.75 ▲1.4%; 95% avgVol] [link] confirmed statements made by its Chairman, Justin Liu, in an interview with Manila Bulletin. In that interview, Mr. Liu said that FCG’s FY24 capex target is ₱1 billion, that they’re looking to open 70 to 80 new stores this year, and that he expects this expansion effort to push earnings to grow “double-digits” this year. FCG confirmed all those statements. FCG’s indicated that it would expand from 150 stores at the end of 2022 to 300 stores by the end of 2029.
- MB: According to its Q1/24 press release, FCG ended 2023 with 203 stores after adding 68 stores that year. If FCG were to put up another “70 to 80” stores this year, that would leave it with 273 to 283 total stores by the end of 2024, and give FCG plenty of time (5 years!) to complete the remaining 127 to 117 stores. Usually in the quick service restaurant world, periods of intense growth don’t correspond with periods of great profitability, so the “double digit” earnings growth target is what stands out to me the most. FCG net income was up 7.2% y/y last quarter, and that’s actually considerable given the previous year’s expansion and the current expansion, but that’s not double-digit growth. One thing that confuses me, though, is that in its Q1/23 quarterly report from a year earlier, FCG said that it ended 2022 with 150 stores. If it had 150 stores at the end of 2022 and then added 68 stores in 2023, shouldn’t it have 218 stores by now, not 203? I know, I know: 15 stores isn’t that big of a deal. Maybe it’s just a miscommunication between marketing and operations. Maybe there was a little bit of internal pressure to count 15 nearly-completed stores as completed stores in order to hit that IPO prospectus goal of 150 total stores by the end of 2022, and then they double-counted those 15 stores as part of the 2023 completes? I don’t know. I’m just going by the info they tell me. Any readers have any insight?
- [UPDATE] Alliance Global injects ₱2.6-B into Megaworld... Megaworld [MEG 1.89 ▼0.5%; 156% avgVol] [link] clarified the recent subscription of its parent company, Alliance Global [AGI 9.30 ▼2.8%; 185% avgVol], to 1.375 billion common shares at ₱1.90/share to say that it is part of a plan to increase MEG’s outstanding authorized capital stock by ₱5.5 billion (from ₱40.2 billion to ₱45.7 billion). MEG explained that it “intends to submit its application for increase in authorized capital stock... by around June 2024”, and will list the shares issued to AGI once the full payment of the subscription price is received. MEG said that the purpose of the sale and the larger transaction is for “supporting growth and future business expansions of [MEG] in line with [MEG’s] strategies and directions.”
- MB: Once approved, this will give MEG’s management team 4.125 billion common shares that it can sell to fund its ambitious capex for FY24 and beyond. If MEG sold the remainder at the same ₱1.90/share price, that would bring in an additional ₱7.8 billion. If I were a shareholder, I’d be less concerned by the details of the transaction as I would be about the meaningless word salad of the rationale behind it. I know many MEG shareholders who are frustrated with the stock’s laggard price performance. MEG just recently touched a 12-year low, and is trading at prices that the stock has not seen since early 2012. It’s down 4% year-to-date, down 8.7% over the past 12 months, down 34% over the past 3 years, and down 69% (not nice) from its all-time high that it set back in July 2019. What’s the plan? So far it seems all I hear is “townships townships townships” but that “strategy and direction” hasn’t been profitable for shareholders for almost 5 years now.
