I built my first modern gaming PC in 2011, and after a long life it's finally time for the old girl to retire and for me to move on to something new. I've been out of the PC-building game for awhile, so I could use some help picking parts that will work well together and deliver the performance I'm looking for. Thanks!
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
This will be primarily a gaming PC, though it will function as a work computer as well. My most-played game is probably Overwatch 2, but I am also a big Diablo guy and my current 13-year-old set-up really struggles with the latest entry. I also enjoy playing the newest AAA games as they come out (Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc.) and would like a rig that can really show off the best of what PC gaming has to offer. I'm thinking 2K/1440p and able to get frame rates of 144+ hz. Ray-tracing, however, is not a big selling point for me and is not a priority or necessity.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
I plan to buy the PC parts on Friday and build it over the long Memorial Day weekend.
What is your budget for the build?
Looking to not spend more than $2,500 total.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
The budget should include a tower and all interior parts, as well as a new monitor. (Current monitor is even older at 15 years, a 23" 1080p 60hz) I'd like the new monitor to be between 27-32 inches on the diagonal and support 2560x1440 resolution and 144+ fps.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I am located in Southern California and have access to the Tustin Micro Center.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I will be re-using just my mouse and keyboard. I don't have the brand/model available at the moment, but they have been replaced much more recently and should work fine with whatever parts are chosen.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I will not be overclocking, as that's a little more intricate and involved than I want to get.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I'd like at least a 2 TB main SSD for the OS and gaming. I also store a lot of media and would like something like an 8-12 TB HDD included in the build.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Looking for a case that can fit all the parts comfortably and not be overwhelmingly big. Current tower is about 20" x 20" x 8" and I'd rather not go bigger than that. A plain, black exterior is just fine by me. I am not interested in LED lighting at all as I just find it distracting.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No, I have a copy of Windows 11 set aside for use already.

This is a long one. And a bit of a doozy, so stick with me lol.
I don’t really know what is and what isn’t relevant to this situation, so I’ll give as much back story and such as I can. But feel free to ask further questions or for clarification also.
So I (28F) started nannying for a single dad (31M) in November of 2023. And when I say single dad, I mean only parent single dad. The girls’ mom left 3 years ago and signed away her rights. They haven’t seen her or talked to her since. For reference, the girls are (almost) 5 and (newly) 6.
Everything started like a normal job. We didn’t text or talk unless it was to confirm me coming to his house at a certain date and time to watch the girls. Then in December, he started texting me outside of things related to nannying. He just wanted a friend. He moved states to get away from his ex and start his life with the girls over. Then those friendly texts started getting flirty and suggestive. To the point that eventually in January, we crossed those lines one night (the girls were asleep in their room and had no idea. Still don’t as far as I know)
We’ve been doing this back and forth off and on friends with benefits thing since January. We keep that stuff completely separate from nannying. Or as separate as we can.
Well anyway, the girls have really imprinted on me and have started calling me mom. We correct them. But it’s hard.
When I started nannying, it was just for the weekends. But in February I also started getting them ready in the mornings and taking them to school 3 of the 5 days a week. (He works Friday through Tuesday 6AM-2PM). I am also in charge of holidays that fall on days he works. We also do birthdays and stuff together. Sometimes the girls and I do overnights if he has to work early the next day. I also help out any other time he needs me. He has also stated he would like us to be on the same page with everything, especially discipline. Which sounds a lot like coparenting to me.
I like him. Like I really like him. And we’ve had this conversation. Recently. He doesn’t feel the same way. I’m continuing to nanny. The girls are the most important and come first always. I wouldn’t quit just because things between me and him are messy, confusing, and maybe a little awkward right now. I don’t believe in punishing children the decisions of adults. They wouldn’t understand this.
Then my pay is all sorts of fucked up. But that’s another thing entirely.
Anyway, I don’t really know what advice I’m asking for. But some guidance would be nice.

Hi, my name's Aaron and I used to be a chronic procrastinator. When I was younger it didn't matter what the activity was, if it was important I'd find an excuse to put it off. Back in school and college (16-18 yo in the UK) I'd do almost NO work. Whenever I did actually muster the effort to work, it would either be the bare minimum or at the very last minute.
Throughout my life, I've also always been extremely addicted to gaming and YouTube and at times, would spend more than 12 hours a day on these vices, whilst avoiding the important tasks I knew I should be doing. It would even get so bad at times that my family would receive letters and emails from my school and college, telling them how behind I was on all my work. It felt so embarrassing being unable to work without an adult's supervision at 18 YEARS OLD!
Why am I telling you this? To show you that you're not alone with this struggle and that it's actually VERY common. I know many other people who also live just like this, being unable to do the things they should be doing.
I know how horribly painful it can feel to have the desire to improve your life and to know what you SHOULD be doing but feeling unable take action on those things. I know how much it can hurt your sense of self worth, destroy your confidence and make you hate yourself.
Luckily, after years of constant procrastination, I was able to overcome it as soon as I understood this:
Procrastination is an emotional problem that occurs when a task invokes more negative emotions than positive emotions. These negative emotions could be things like stress, sadness, anxiety or anger. When we feel these negative emotions, it's only natural for us to want to eliminate them as quickly as possible. This is why you procrastinate.
You may turn to things like tv, gaming, porn, junk food or binge watching YouTube because it provides a temporary relief from those negative feelings. We procrastinate because humans are emotional creatures that prioritize our current state over our future state.
Logically, we know that procrastination damages our lives in the long term but we are evolved to favor short term rewards over long term rewards. This is why eating ice cream and watching Netflix may sound more appealing than going to the gym even though you know which one you SHOULD be doing.
So now you know why you procrastinate, the solution is obvious. It's to uncover what's causing you to feel negative emotions towards a task and deal with that problem. This can usually be some kind of subconscious fear.
Some of the common causes of procrastination include:

Hello Redditors, my first home is approaching soon! I fell in love with three homes, and I was hoping you guys’ and gals’ could help me make the right choice. I have two German shepherds and some other animals. I have a truck and a bike. Very into the rustic type feeling. These three are the top of my budget, and I can see myself living in all of them. I canceled my build with Toll brothers to go with one of these three. These are all new builds…
House one: I canceled my deposit from Toll Brothers, and put my deposit on this one.
Pros: - Cozy Vibe - Barn door to hide the mudroom - Nice rustic chandeliers - No back yard neighbors (as my back yard backs up to a huge open field (school property). - Nice master bathroom - Love the hardwood floor! - Medium sized covered patio - Finished garage - Most affordable by $200 a month cheaper than other two.
Cons: - Smallest @ 1817 sq feet - Smallest garage - Walkthrough noticed some items that needed to be addressed - Feel of smaller space compared to to other two
House Two:
Pros: - Largest 2060 SQ ft - Most open lay out, big ceilings - Chandelier in the living room - Bigger Garage - Prefer stained cabinetry - Larger master bathroom - Right next to the common are walk way and pool - Large covered patio - Bigger windows more light - Finished garage
Cons: - Fence is iron gated for common area, so could be problem for dogs? - Next to the pool - One of the subdivision streets literally goes into driveway - Most expensive by +200 over the home 1
House Three:
Pros: - Biggest back yard - In between 1989 sq feet - Guest room upstairs (Bonus room) could work really well for office, gaming/animal room - Still have all the main bedrooms on the main floor - Prefer the exterior look the best - Like the appliances and built in Microwave - Prefer walk way into home - Corner lot really nice landscaping on the corner - Energy efficient certified house
Cons: - Unfinished garage - backyard will go against another back yard - Not as “rustic” as the other ones - not as big as a patio covering - Don’t like the hardwood choice, or the mudroom counter top - Smallest master bathroom

Out of all the Zorua I’ve kept, these two have the best stats. So my question is, for competitive battling, which Zorua would you go with? The first is Timid and the second is Naive. I would like the movement to be a little more hardcore.
Friendly fire please, pvps between teams would be much more interesting.
When a grenade is thrown at you, there is no indicator that you have a grenade nearby, but I think the sound should increase when a grenade falls near you.
The higher the level of dog tags, the more valuable they are in the traders' market.
That grenades can't be cooked, because almost all grenades would be like impact grenades, I'm not sure, balance it somehow.
More damage from falling from heights please.
When the final game comes out, leveling up will be hardcore, grinding, to keep us hooked on the game.
When you have more suggestions I will post them here, thank you all very much.

So my theory is that the badlands are located in the land of Shadow, and marika ordered Godfrey and the tarnisheds to go fight in the war that was happening there, but they came out on the losing side, like the first trailer mentions on the quote "They were never saints, they just happend to be in the losing side of a war". And would be a reason on why Messmer questions Marika on giving lordship status to a tarnished, since he on a war against them, and why in the first trailer we learn that "The blood of the erdtree faithful must spill". |

Right now I've got a PC build with an Intel i5 11400f processor and an RTX3060 GPU. My current motherboard does not allow me to upgrade any further than 11th gen Intel processors. Because of this, I thought about upgrading to the "best" CPU I can get, which is probably the 11900KF, and I can get it for 210€, which seems to be a reasonable price. The main reason for this decision is because a lot of the games I play are CPU heavy and my CPU does not seem to be able to handle them very well, I often get very undesired FPS drops, and changing the graphic settings practically doesn't help at all.
However, I've heard a lot of criticism towards the 11900KF, and the 11th generation in general, so I'm looking for helpful advice. Thanks in advance!

I guess you could say im stuck in a massive first world problem, what VR headset to get...
I am currently a user of the reverb g2 which has been great but looking to get something better since I have the computer for it. (4090/7800x3d) Also, I know we are losing support...
I am pretty much a hardcore sim-racer since thats the only thing I use VR for. In addition, I also have a motion rig.
After some background to my setup im trying to see what you guys have thought about, used, and recommend from your experiance and how it applies to my needs.
Of course, I am looking for something future proof since it would be a larger purchase. So for months now I have been researching and reading pretty much every reddit out there on user feedback.
I have narrowed down my choices to the Big screen Beyond, pimax crystal, or the new somnium vr1.
My thoughts: I like the Pimax's technology but it seems really heavy, especially since I am using motion. The screens seem amazing though and I like the flexability.
However, it seems Pimax has always had a lurking reliability issue. Is this reliability issue really a problem, and do you think the weight is an issue?
The Somnium looks pretty awesome, but definitely very expensive. In addtion, the form factor is something im also concerned about. However, this would be the most future proof and packed with technology. Is the price worth it over pimax though!?!
Lastly, my current 1st choice but with some doubts.
I absolutely love the Big Screen Beyond for what it is and what it stands for. I think the form factor is something that is the future of VR especially for motion. However, It is a first gen product and I wonder how future proof it will be. To me, the visuals on paper are some of the best but with the downside of small FOV and sweet spot. I guess my concerns with it are, is it enough?
I really dont like the fact it has a fixed IPD, in the case someone else wants to use it. The other large concern is the glare ive seen many people talk about. Is it an issue? Lastly, other headsets like the quest 3 have a better lense with a much larger sweet spot which is a detriment to the BSB.. some ive seen say the quests e larger sweet spot is a game changer thus me doubting the BSB. I've seen some posts on here about how people get hit on arms/hands and then get killed/coma from organ damage. The diagram shows the marks on the hands and arms and the organs damaged. I didn't understand this until people pointed out that at the time you have your gun in front of you and in that stance the diagram makes more sense. The logic being, bullet hits hand, follows through into torso doing damage
My question is: Has someone tested out is shooting AI in the hands to see if the penetration after the hands ignores the torso armour? Does the game treat the bullet hitting the unarmoured arm as "inside the body" and carries through to the torso ignoring chest armour or does it do another check on the armour.
I ask this because I feel it would explain some deaths I get from AI when I'm shot from the front and have III armour and die from arm shots. This happens in areas where the AI is using US and SP ammo which should be stopped by lvl III.

The price performance of both RTX4070 Super and 7900GRE look good to me (I prefer second because of the 16GB VRAM but tell me if you think first makes more sense)
Now I read already tons of reviews and ranking about all the current CPUs but they are all tested with the best GPU available. Now the 7900GRE or 4070S is much weaker and become the bottleneck while gaming much earlier.
I plan to game mostly on 1440p/60Hz monitor and games like Anno1800 or FarCry6 (the damanding games in my list)

So, maybe some of people seen me here and around in couple of days, I've been mostly giving advice about how to lose weight. Well why that's important to say cause I myself was around 94.6 kg (208 lbs) when I started at the start of the April, Now I weight 83.8 kg (185 lbs) my goal is to aim for like range of the 60 - 70 kg (132 lbs - 154 lbs) to just purely satisfy myself with the body. I know I shouldn't take in my eyes how the other people look like especially on internet but there's no better alternative atm for me. I already started to see some quirky places where my skin just seems to shrink from the fat that I lost mostly on my tights some people could argue that's bad less tights but at my situation it's better to have lose them a bit of fat.
Also for context I'm just 18 turning 19 this year.
So for more interesting stuff what I'd daily from my start with is now around 1.5 months.
Rule 1; Hitting 5 days from week at least 9.0 km of walking with is around 12,000 steps from just this I don't count moving around house for this, but only the one session of going usually for 2 hour walk at least this is how much average I'd have to walk to be around 9,0 km, On the other 2 days I take a bit break from every exercise and I do just 2/3 of regular day with means I'd go for walk but only for like 6 km.
Rule 2 (please don't do that like i'd) I'm just at way to high caloric deficit I mean I'd get like 1,200 + / - 300 kcal per day. Mostly proteins to just keep my muscle mass on my body and kill the fat, but I don't recommend it unless your doctor says you to have that. Is this going trough hell for me? I can't really tell It's kinda like fasting but not really, I already earlier in my life was prepared to have that situation cuase in my house very very rarely there's lack of food or just food that I won't eat cause is too gross for me to put it in my mouth anyways.
What's my costs of this all, I have to refuse some good stuff like cakes, some other sugar staff, etc. After that time I pretty much don't have any feeling of having to eat or use sugar stuff, so I just drink water and cup of drink tea daily.
The pain in the ass; I'm just still a student and my money outcome is pretty not existing so I have to rely what I get in my kitchen from parents and that's usually not the best staff but at least it's not heavy processed meals like average US dinner. Well at least when I get some money the chicken breast aren't that expensive to get + full-wheat penne pasta + tomato sauce makes me dinner for a week to eat, so I still somewhat stay alive, I did started to appreciate more the meal that I get, and stopped pretty much every time my heads tells me "You are Hungry" I just go and drink water and then this annoying stuff stops for another 6 hours.
Yes I'd have skincare routine mostly just cleanser -> oat lotion -> moisturizer and if I'm going outside in summer time I use uv cream, and yes most of this stuff I just took from my other cause women cosmetics are somewhat always better than mens.
So what other exercises I'd daily; Well I usually got for 3 x 20, So I'd sit ups, squats, glute bridges, russian twists and 1 min of plank, and yes the push ups why do I'd them to help my upper part of body gain some muscles so I get rid of this gross some type of men boobs that I got cause of the fat in my body. Also I'd then set of 2 exercises 3x for 30 s that just helps me with core muscles.
If I get bored from one exercise I'd go and do other with similar meaning like; side leg rises, hydrant etc.
So to summary; Is this what I'd healthy at all, I wouldn't say it's that much healthy and wouldn't recommend going on same caloric deficit as me unless told by doctor, but the other habits like exercises they should be optimal for most of people out here. And general advice for everyone do push ups they don't hurt and not doing like 100 per day but going for like 20 - 40 should be great. I plan myself to reduce amount of them after next month.
If anybody would have any question about other stuff or their personal story to share I'll be open to hear it out when I find a piece of time!

TL;DR: Snooped on bf’s texts with coworker. She potentially tried to shoot her shot with him, but she isn’t aware bf is in a relationship. Bf is very private about his personal life at work. I want to ask to meet the coworker to get to know her and let her know I exist.
My boyfriend has recently been talking a lot about his coworker (20somethingF) who’s been put on their team in the past year or so. He’s been very stressed at work and we hardly see each other —live apart and see each other 1-2times a week. Overall, relationship is good. Has been better but he is busy with work and I keep my time occupied with my hobbies and friends.
Lately, every time I ask him how work was that day or what he was up to at work, he will eventually start talking about this coworker, lets call her Sasha. About what him and Sasha did today (coffee catch-up and lunch together usually) or just andecdotes about Sasha (“Sasha’s weekend hobby is swimming and last week she swam xyz metres in open ocean). Cool.
I have never minded this —in part because my bf has a tendency to have a new female best friend every year. I totally believe and support friendship across genders. However, my…spidey senses have been tingling for the past month because Sasha and him have been spending a lot of time with each other at work based on his stories but we hardly ever text during the week now and we only see each other 1 night on a weekend —late at night and ready for bed— as his job is very demanding atm. Two mos ago he also told me that Sasha broke up with her long term bf.
Anyway long story short, I ended up snooping on his texts with her and I feel torn, reddit friends. There was nothing malicious, but she texted him asking him if he wants to come over and share a pizza with her on a Saturday night!! Two weeks before that, she also invited him on 1:1 drinks out on a weekend night. He rejected both invites saying he already had plans. But she would send him selfies of her every now and then, mundane stuff like what she’s cooking for dinner, picture of her chilling on the couch (he asked her if she was wfh that day) and also picture of her at the salon (he wondered why she tool a day off). He would sometimes respond with photos of his dinner or his computer screen.
The problem is that he is very very private about his personal life at work (only 1 other female and 1 coworker knows our relationship because they are close feiends outside of work). So Sasha doesn’t know I exist. If she was hitting on him, technically its fair game from her perspective. Admittedly, I am upset that my bf is not forthcoming with our relationship in general. It took me 1.5 years to meet his friends. I’m sure he enjoys the female attention but idk if he is being oblivious with her trying to shoot her shot. I can’t confront him because he’ll figured out I snooped. I know I know its not my finest moment.
But I would like to ask him for me to meet some of his closer coworkers (which are essentially friends as they regularly hang out after work/on the weekend including Sasha)…in part to actually get to know his coworkers and also to let Sasha know I exist…I’d like advice on whether or not this is worth the effort and if it’s something I should do in the first place. Or is there a different way to tackle this conversation/my feelings?

I plan on moving to most likely Pop!OS and planned to install it on my main SSD. I've tried searching around for my questions but it might just be a bit obtuse or me being silly. Would I need to re-format my storage HDD's after having used a Windows OS before? Would a program like Steam be able to find its games after an OS move? Or would it be worth just reformating both storage drives to better work with Linux? Its not a great personal loss if I need to as my own data is fairly minimal anyway.

I really dont like the fact it has a fixed IPD, in the case someone else wants to use it. The other large concern is the glare ive seen many people talk about. Is it an issue? Lastly, other headsets like the quest 3 have a better lense with a much larger sweet spot which is a detriment to the BSB.. some ive seen say the quests e larger sweet spot is a game changer thus me doubting the BSB. I know the somnium vr1 has a similar sweet spot to the Q3 however the price is too high IMO...
All in all, all of these headsets seem to be awesome, however I want to make the right choice. What do you guys think of these headsets and would you recommend something else instead? Is weight really an issue especially for motion? Are the lacking stats of the BSB really an issue in comparison to these headsets? Motion racing is the key here and just wondering if the weight of a larger headset like the pimax is too much.

I guess you could say im stuck in a massive first world problem, what VR headset to get...
I am currently a user of the reverb g2 which has been great but looking to get something better since I have the computer for it. (4090/7800x3d) Also, I know we are losing support...
I am pretty much a hardcore sim-racer since thats the only thing I use VR for. In addition, I also have a motion rig.
After some background to my setup im trying to see what you guys have thought about, used, and recommend from your experiance and how it applies to my needs.
Of course, I am looking for something future proof since it would be a larger purchase. So for months now I have been researching and reading pretty much every reddit out there on user feedback.
I have narrowed down my choices to the Big screen Beyond, pimax crystal, or the new somnium vr1.
My thoughts: I like the Pimax's technology but it seems really heavy, especially since I am using motion. The screens seem amazing though and I like the flexability.
However, it seems Pimax has always had a lurking reliability issue. Is this reliability issue really a problem, and do you think the weight is an issue?
The Somnium looks pretty awesome, but definitely very expensive. In addtion, the form factor is something im also concerned about. However, this would be the most future proof and packed with technology. Is the price worth it over pimax though!?!
Lastly, my current 1st choice but with some doubts.
I absolutely love the Big Screen Beyond for what it is and what it stands for. I think the form factor is something that is the future of VR especially for motion. However, It is a first gen product and I wonder how future proof it will be. To me, the visuals on paper are some of the best but with the downside of small FOV and sweet spot. Just had an uncomfortable job interview. Had to listen to how irresponsible and bad the low income personel and their trainees are.
I did not talk bad about them too so that might not land me the low income job I was looking for there to get my feet back into the job market slowly. Nor was I playing the therapist. Actually also lied that I totally got my bachelor instead of dropping out while working here and there with my high frequency to chronic condition.
But I was glad once it was over. It is not my business how many low income employees there are and how bad their job mentality might be.
Also screwed up the quiz question who is more irresponsible and taking the most sick days, full-time and securely established employees or those looking for part work or being a trainee there. Not playing this game, I am sick myself, I am not going to downgrade myself to make an employer feel heard and better for an instant.
Tldr: employer ranted about employees taking sick time and being irresponsible. Was glad once it was over.
