2024.05.15 19:45 PLpro12 What are the key factors to consider when sourcing products for Amazon FBA reddit?

Understanding Market Demand and Trends

A crucial initial step in sourcing products for Amazon FBA is conducting thorough market research to identify lucrative niches and trending products. Leveraging tools such as Helium 10, and Google Trends, we can analyze market demand, competition levels, and seasonal trends to pinpoint high-potential product opportunities. By staying abreast of emerging consumer preferences and market dynamics, sellers can make informed decisions to source products that resonate with their target audience.

Assessing Profitability and Margins

While identifying popular products is vital, it's equally essential to assess their profitability and potential profit margins. Sellers should conduct a meticulous cost analysis, factoring in product sourcing costs, Amazon's FBA fees, shipping expenses, and other overheads to determine the viability of each product. H10 has invaluable tools for evaluating historical pricing data and estimating future profit margins, enabling sellers to make data-driven decisions and optimize their product sourcing strategies for maximum profitability.

Evaluating Product Quality and Supplier Reliability

Maintaining high standards of product quality is paramount for ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term success on Amazon FBA. When sourcing products, sellers must prioritize working with reputable suppliers and manufacturers known for their reliability, consistency, and adherence to quality standards. Conducting thorough due diligence, including factory audits, product samples, and supplier background checks, can help mitigate risks associated with subpar product quality and ensure a seamless fulfillment experience for customers.

Navigating Amazon's Policies and Requirements

Amazon imposes stringent policies and requirements for sellers participating in its FBA program, covering aspects such as product authenticity, compliance with safety regulations, and packaging standards. Sellers must familiarize themselves with Amazon's guidelines and ensure full compliance to avoid potential account suspensions or penalties. Utilizing resources such as Amazon Seller Central, Seller University, and seeking guidance from experienced FBA consultants can help sellers navigate the intricacies of Amazon's policies and uphold the highest standards of seller performance.

Optimizing Product Listings for Visibility and Conversion

In the competitive landscape of Amazon, optimizing product listings is crucial for maximizing visibility, driving traffic, and ultimately, converting shoppers into buyers. Sellers should invest time and effort in crafting compelling product titles, bullet points, descriptions, and high-quality images that highlight key features, benefits, and unique selling points. Implementing relevant keywords strategically throughout product listings, leveraging backend search terms, and utilizing tools like H10 can enhance discoverability and organic ranking on Amazon's search results.

Implementing a Scalable and Diversified Sourcing Strategy

To sustain long-term success on Amazon FBA, sellers should adopt a scalable and diversified product sourcing strategy that encompasses a broad range of products, suppliers, and sourcing channels. By diversifying their product portfolio and sourcing from multiple suppliers and regions, sellers can mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, changes in market demand, and competitive pressures. Embracing automation tools, establishing robust supplier relationships, and continuously monitoring market trends can empower sellers to adapt and thrive in the dynamic landscape of e-commerce.

Conclusion

In conclusion, sourcing products for Amazon FBA requires a strategic and multifaceted approach that encompasses market research, profitability analysis, supplier evaluation, compliance with Amazon's policies, and optimization of product listings. By diligently considering these key factors and leveraging data-driven insights and tools, sellers can position themselves for success and capitalize on the vast opportunities offered by Amazon's global marketplace.

2024.05.15 19:44 Free-Economics5216 castable refractory, new recipe

Good day Gentle men and Women,
I am looking at building my own wood fired outdoor oven, Brick in my area is a mint. I found the Fire clay, silica sand, perlite, portland recipe a while back, sourced the parts I couldn't get locally. originally for my maple syrup arch. figured it will become a fixture if I weigh it down like that and so just used red brick in it for the time being.
Of course a curious mind is never sated. I have found that all high temp refractory cement contains alumina. which is AL2O3
I also come across someone using Chalk or calcium carbonate and grog for hot face refractory
https://www.reddit.com/Metalfoundry/comments/q1owdu/living_away_from_civilization_make_your_own_supe
and another fella attempting to use sodium silicate or waterglass with silica sand and soapstone dust.
https://www.handprintpress.com/tech/diy-earthen-castable-refractory/
a guy on YouTube cast a simple Portland / perlite oven with ok results, but mentioned it has no thermal mass and uneven heat characteristics.
I managed to obtain some fire brick, which I will use for the floor of the oven over a perlite & Portland insulative base.
my plan is to cast the oven itself in the beach ball style form or the sand dome style form. I am leaning toward
a recipe of 1p Alumina, 1p Portland, 2p silica, 2p fireclay, + sodium silicate mixture for the hotface 1-2" thick, then doing a solid 2" layer of the 3p Portland, 1p alumina, 3p perlite, 4p silica sand, 4p fire clay for the rest of the structure topped with a 5p perlite/ 1p Portland insulative layer
the reason for the layers is to create a thermal mass in the inner most layer. would I be better off doing a solid 3"-4" layer of 3p alumina, 3p Portland, 3p perlite, 4p silica, 4p fire clay + sodium silicate as the main body topped with the perlite & portland insulative layer?
please advise.

2024.05.15 19:43 LeepLow Stay in current remote job with little progression or take an in person, out of sate job with higher pay but lose SWE tittle? (LONG POST)

Hey! I graduated in '21 with a bach in Philosophy and Minor in Comp sci. I was able to get into a SWE role at a Houston based startup starting at 65k and fully remote. So at this point I have 2.5 yoe and.....my total comp has not gone up at all. I was originally a c# developer but eventually found a niche in creating internal tools for different teams - these usually are comprised of automated Jupyter notebooks and Django web apps. Recently the company was acquired by a PE firm and merged with a bigger tech company (I hope this doesn't dox me ). In the all hands meeting it was made clear we would be kept on the benefits and pay scale we are currently on (rip) and if any changes were to follow in the coming year it would be culture based (hybrid in office). Right now I get to live at home and help my family but it has been extremely draining on my mental health and wellbeing (I help care for an elderly grandmother who is esl and a cousin who has severe mental disabilities).
Interviewed with Epic Systems for the SWE role and passed the 3hr exams they make you do. It was not until after the leetcode take home (I bombed it fr) that they decided I should do the final interview for their Technical Solutions Engineer instead. It is still higher pay than my current role nut I would no longer be an SWE. I know the TSE role is not the usual helpdesk role and depending on team can involve some coding and scripting.
My future goals: I want to pivot into consulting (i know i know) after going the MBA route or if that doesn't pan out I wish to stay in SWE or transition to being a project manager. I have a 3.high undergrad gpa and 320 gre (practice exams). I feel like I could spin the TSE role into some management experience and it is inherently a more collaborative role than what I am doing now.
Any advice is welcome as I am at cross roads here. Thank you.

2024.05.15 19:35 AstroGumzi Need help gummy curing!

Need help gummy curing!
Hi all. I make gelatin-based gummies infused with cannabis and need help with my curing/drying process in order to get the coating right.
When using glucose syrup and sugar as the first two ingredients to mix in a pan, I make sure to (gradually) hit the 100 C (212 F) mark, before I take it off the heat to add my gelatin. When I initially tried this when testing this new recipe, I tested in a small batch and as so I used a small pan. I really liked the way the gummies came out and most importantly how I was able to cook (and fill the molds) on a Monday, unmold the gummies and instantly sugar coat them on the Tuesday, and package them on a Wednesday. From raw ingredients to packaged gummies in 3 days! Anyhow, when I started to produce at a larger scale, with larger batches and bigger pans, I started to encounter issues on day 2 of the the 3-day process. When unmolding and sugar coating the gummies, the gummies would start to slightly sweat rather quick as opposed to when I'd make a sample batch and the sugar coating would remain in perfect condition. See the attached pictures; left is slightly sweated and right is nice & frosty white.
What has changed? The size of the batch. Why I started the above paragraph with the 100 C (212 F) aspect of the cooking process, is because I feel like producing a bigger batch requires the gummy mixture to cook at 100 C for a longer period of time to ensure the ENTIRE (glucose syrup & sugar) mix is 100 C and not just the surface.
Why I'm also not 100% and why I don't just want to test proceeding at 100 C for longer, is because I don't want to mess up this mix. Cooking at 100 C for an extended period of time might cause the sugar to burn/crystallize and this will mess up the final product is what I'm guessing.
If anyone has any tips, advice or suggestions; please let me know in the comments or feel free to DM me!

2024.05.15 19:33 ARIES_tHE_fOOL Am thinking of being a GM/DM. But I have some concerns.

Like the post says I want to be a DM but I have some issues that may get in the way of things.
  1. Am an introvert whose not super comfortable in socializing. I can do it don't get me wrong I just can't start a conversation on my own.
  2. Am Autistic, I don't really know what that means exactly but I assume that would effect how I interact with people online. am on the high funcuntioning side of the spectrum though so I might still be fine.
  3. Am Lazy, not a good reason I know but I often jump in and out of hobbies based on my interests. I worry I might learn too late that DMing isn't my cup of tea and end up disappointing people.
  4. My household sometimes ends up in some drama that bums me out of playing a game. I've already had to quit a session with a group am in because of it. I don't have it happen too often but it does happen.
  5. Am primarily a digital player of TTRPGs. I got Foundry VTT awhile back for my personal games with Ironsworn. the only physical books I got are four DnD 5E books. I do have Savage Worlds as a PDF though and that's the system I plan on running as it's the one am most similar with and I quite like it.

2024.05.15 17:56 jorgeuhs Tenser's Transformation is bad. Story of a character that should have been pretty good with it.

My character: Dwarf Clockwork Soul Sorcerer 10/Order Domain Cleric 1/Hexblade Warlock 2 with warcaster.
NOTE: How do I have access to Tenser's Transformation? DM gave an item that can make me have 3 spells of my choice that I have leveled spells for. I got Find Greater Steed and Tenser's Transformation.
Story: I picked up Tenser's a couple of levels ago. I was Sorc10/Cleric1 and decided to go Hexblade to grab that bonus to hit and grabbed tenser's. I had been flying on a Pegasus for a while and I just thought to myself "I can do so much damage and it will be so cool to share that transformation with my Pegasus!" I was thinking that having four attacks that each had an additional 2d12 with advantage. I'm a dwarf and I have a +2 shield. After trying to optimize it for a while I bought a +1 lance and a +1 sling. The Hex Warrior technically works with a lance because it's doesn't have the a two-handed weapon property. An NPC artificer infused repeating shot on the Sling. I bought a potion of speed. I can even "cast" Hexblade's Curse works while I'm transformed.
Each morning, I would ponder about the best weapon to put Hex Warrior on: Sling, Lance or my +2 Quarterstaff. So, I got a Pegasus, Plate Armor, +2 shield, my pick of Lance, Sling or Quarterstaff, Hexblade's Curse, potion of speed, Hex Warrior and there has never been a great moment to use Tenser's. I play in a big group and fights then to be hard on my table. DM really gives us challenging, but fair fights and I had to be using my full wits to win. Team is also rather large; usually 5-6 players. Losing my spellcasting and my concentration is just too big of a sacrifice for Tenser's.
We fought an Ancient Dragon. AC 23 and strength save breath. I had to use my Pegasus to keep out of breath weapon and used my concentration on Party wide Bless while using vortex warp, and other support spells to barely defeat that thing. Had bunch of minions on another fight; used fireball; Hypnotic Pattern and other buffs. Fought a Pit Fiend, nope, fought in a multileveled dungeon with giants, nope. I've had this spell in the backburner for about 12-16 sessions and sitting there. I have managed to use it; on small fights when I know I can goof around, but for most of these fights my Pegasus was already dead.
Since I have warcaster and have such a high con I also sometimes use Twin Haste when I figure monster don't hit that high. I can also twin polymorph, twin Greater invisibility. I just can't find a time for Tenser's. I'm an order cleric so these spells are constantly provoking reaction attacks from my teammates. (I also use Silvery Barbs a lot, since my teammates get an advantage reaction attack with it. I have never used it for saving throws I mostly use it to save my cleric friend from physical attacks).
The nail in the coffin came this level. I grabbed that second level of warlock and got agonizing blast. I do so much damage with EB + Quickened EB. If I were to use Tenser's and transform my Pegasus and me, I would outpace the damage of EB but by very little. If the Pegasus died, then I would be nerfed completely and would be just a mediocre fighter without spellcasting.
Now I got a staff of power and an astral shard so I'm basically going to substitute this spell for something more useful, thinking about grabbing spirit guardians. Or maybe even spike growth or True Seeing. I tried with all my might to make the most out of Tenser's Transformation and It's just not good. I even took a Hexblade dip to maximize it. The bonuses you get are just not worth giving your concentration, a 6th level spell slot and your ability to cast spells.

2024.05.15 17:17 AstroNoVa888 M18 [M4f] just ready for love again #online

It’s been a while since my last relationship and I’m ready to search again, I’m looking for someone between 18-21. A big need for me relationship-wise is honesty, loyalty and respect and patience those are big green flag to me personally.
I’m heavily attracted to intelligence it isn’t a need but I’m also attracted to many other things like being calm, understanding, being trusting and hella more tbh.
I love to call/ft whichever is more comfortable So distance isn’t a problem
For hobbies I enjoy listening to different genres of music, reading, watching horror or romance series or movies and I usually get interested in my partner’s interests too.
Also I’m hella deep into love. That influences my future goals for a relationship and some general life goals I have
This chat gpt quote I was sent basically sums up my Ideals somewhat but still some of that isn’t needed:
Your ideal partner is someone who possesses intelligence and a thirst for knowledge, particularly historical intelligence, which you find incredibly attractive. They may not need to be the smartest person in the room, but their intellectual curiosity and capacity to engage in meaningful conversations about history and other topics resonate deeply with you.
In terms of personality, you appreciate someone who is reserved yet also values independence. You admire individuals who can depend on you and confide in you, but at the same time, you respect their need for personal space and autonomy. A partner who strikes a balance between being emotionally connected and maintaining individuality is highly appealing to you.
Your ideal partner values health and fitness to some extent, demonstrating a commitment to self-care and well-being. While you have a preference for individuals who maintain a healthy lifestyle, you are also understanding and accepting of different body types, as long as your partner prioritizes their health and takes care of themselves.
Culturally, you are intrigued by someone from a different background who can speak another language fluently or nearly fluently. This trait adds a layer of richness to your relationship, fostering opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. You appreciate diversity and embrace the unique perspectives and traditions that come with it.
Emotionally, you are drawn to individuals who demonstrate emotional intelligence and self-control. You value loyalty, trustworthiness, and effective communication in a relationship, considering them to be fundamental traits for building a strong and enduring connection.
Your ideal partner shares some of your interests and values, but also brings their own unique perspectives and experiences to the relationship. They are intellectually stimulating, adventurous, and open-minded, willing to explore new experiences and embrace life's opportunities alongside you.
In summary, your ideal partner is someone who is intelligent, independent, culturally diverse, emotionally intelligent, and shares your values of loyalty, trustworthiness, and effective communication. They are a companion who not only complements your personality but also enriches your life through their unique qualities and experiences.
So if you’re still interested after all that It’ll be nice to see your dm, N if not ,then have a nice day

2024.05.15 17:05 TyphosTheD My Experience as a 5e DM moving to Pf2e

Hello, Folks,
I've been running Pf2e for a few weeks now, as part of a West Marches community, having previously run 5th Edition D&D for several years prior, and overall I would say my experience is significantly positive. That said, there are a few observations I wanted to point out to see how they compare to this community's experience with the system, any relevant transitions from 5e to Pf2e, and my own sensibilities vs either the system or the kind of community I'm a part of.
TL/DR: I am having a great time, there are just some experiences, preconceived notions, and design elements I'm still trying to work through, understand, and align expectations with.
  1. I find that the post-combat activities feel a bit too, as best I can phrase, taken for granted. In every game I've run so far, the immediate thing the groups move to is their healing/refocusing activities. This isn't disruptive by any means, and it is certainly both expected to occur by myself and the system, but it seems like there's a critical (to me at least) step missing, that narrative beat between the encounter ending and the party deciding what to do next. My experience in 5e was typically that the party would regroup after an encounter, perhaps loot some bodies, make some checks to see if the coast is clear, and then discuss taking a short rest. On top of this, short resting is significantly simpler in 5e, which again is not an issue in fact I like all of the focus abilities the characters have in Pf2e, but it definitely takes up much more time than in 5e.
  2. I'm aware that Pf2e has a significantly higher magic setting, in the sense that magic items are by design intended to be more pervasive, but the groups I've been running for seem to have a significant wealth of magic items. Now the WM community I'm a part of has very clear and RAW guidelines for magic and treasure, so my gut is telling me this is intended, but it does frequently present a "woah you guys can do that" moment for me at nearly every encounter. Fortunately Pf2e is designed well such that the wealth of magic items don't seem to have a significant power impact, but it does present a challenge subconsciously for me moving here from 5e of comparing the inherent attrition mindset by comparison. In other words, I'm accustomed to considering how challenging an encounter(s) is based on resources expended, but as I've run higher level games I'm seeing a significant reduction in proportional resources expended (in spite of the fact that by and large the players seem consistently challenged).
  3. For the most part I'm detecting significantly less presence of a "system" difference between 5e and Pf2e than I expected to find. Mentions of the 3-action economy, the costs of things like movement, interacting with objects, etc., don't feel like they have nearly as much functional impact on the gameplay experience compared to how I envisioned them in my head. That said, things like one of my NPCs being knocked prone actually feels impactful because now they are less likely to be able to move into position, and things like Auras and Emanations feel like they stack so effectively that sometimes (in particular my game last night) I need to ask for 4-5 different saving throws at the start of a player's turn. Fortunately I run on Foundry, which dramatically improves the gameplay experience with the automations and tracking of things like persistent effects, but I am seeing a progressive increase in overlapping, stacking, persistent, and different effects going on at any given time, it is admittedly sometimes hard to keep track of it all.
  4. Spellcasting feels like a mixed bag. My experience here is exclusively as a DM, so my spellcasting NPCs don't typically have the wealth of resources PCs typically do, but I have to actively read every single spell I see, including ones I recognize from 5e, because sometimes they are dramatically different. Case in point, I used Bestial Polymorph on a PC last night thinking it functioned like Polymorph from 5e, but it turns out there is another spell that does that, and not only did the spell do practically nothing even on a Failure, the target (a Beast Frog Barbarian) was able to use their Morph trait Rage to counteract the effect. It was cool, dramatic, and interesting, but it did kind of feel like that spell use case in particular fell flat primarily because it was hard to discern what the actual impact could/would be. This isn't necessarily bad, but it does suggest I'll need to be a lot more discerning about things like spells and abilities in relation to the party to avoid experiencing practical failure at creature selection.
All in all I am loving the experience of running in Pf2e, last night the game was described as a "truly cinematic experience", which is incredibly high praise for my own DM style and aspirations. I just wanted to share my experience and get some thoughts or feedback on things to consider, different perspectives, and perhaps some alignment of expectations as I continue to run games in this system.
Thanks!

Most accurate BITSAT 2024 Prediction + much more [OC]
pre-writing opinions: Reddit's markdown support sucks ass, no LaTeX and no mermaid support, fuck u/spez

Disclaimer:

LONG READ. These are predicted and the opinions and results may vary for every individual, gaali mat bakna, mai thoda weak ho rakha hu abhi. Although I am pretty confident about what I found, but still, DO NOT BLINDLY BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE , you are only allowed to take notes of what could happen.

Table of Contents

  1. 5 Year score v/s cutoff v/s no. of applicants v/s seats available comparison
  2. Projected scores required for 2024
  3. Fee details broken down w/ projected costs of living, hostels and mess charges and miscellaneous
  4. Should you join it?
  5. Toughness of the courses offered

5 Years' scores detailed review

BITSAT has always seen large number of candidates giving their exams. I used 3 different regression methods for finding the projected number of candidates scoring 88% and above in BITSAT.
Here's the catch, BITSAT was of 450 marks before 2021, but I noticed a linear relation whatsoever for which some blogs claim was due to the ease of solving paper which was higher as of then.[1]
Projected number of candidates scoring >= 316 marks
Don't worry about how I plotted the graph, for the ease of viewing I used a calculative exaggeration method, while all the calculations being done on the raw data only.
Here, all the regressions have too much difference between them which throws off the ease of just averaging the three. Instead I used what is called the R-squared value to find an accurate follow-up projection for the number of candidates.
The R-squared value for the three are as follows:
R-squared values: Linear Regression: 0.8401621913740709 Polynomial Regression: 0.9161966003792115 Exponential Regression: 0.922505755755209 Projected next outcome using damped Exponential Regression: 15916.26589649187

Cutoff Prediction

Now, the best part, cutoff prediction. Here, you need to know one more thing that all the campuses have a record of increasing the number of seats for their programs every year which has somehow worked a little to adjust to the 'population inflation' and has kept the numbers steady.
AAAAAANNNND, here comes the issue, while looking at the seat matrices for BITS, the seats in all branches has remained the same since 2017 (increase in seats for CSE). (2018 for Goa campus).
ALTHOUGH, due to the addition of the new Mathematics and Computing course, it can have significant impact on the No. of seats v/s Cutoff debate
Seeing with the lowest marks required for joining B.Pharm at three campuses of BITS:
Cutoff v/s Candidates remained consistent till 2020
[2][3][4][5]
NOTE: some of you jhaatus will be paranoid about how the cutoff decreased with much higher candidates. It's due to increase in the number of seats due to the new MnC branch
NOTE 2: I am speculating about the predicted number of candidates, since, the popularity has seemingly exponentially increased due to youtuber bhaiyya didis.
Notice that I used a simple polynomial regression here due to having much simpler values for predicting the consecutive iterations.

Why I couldn't correctly predict for CSE

See, the choices of students during counselling is really complicated and after reviewing some previous year details and cutoff scores, I couldn't have a perfect idea about how the relationship is maintained. That's why I will need someone else with more free time to help me polish my code for predictions.
Anyways, here's the predicted cutoff for some branches using exponential regression:
Branch Pilani Campus Goa Campus Hyderabad Campus
CSE ~356 ~312 ~299
MnC* ~310-ish ~290-ish ~280-ish
ECE ~300 ~279 ~272
* no regression, only compared ratios with the cutoffs of IIT Roorkee (JoSSA 2023)

Broken Down Fee details and Costs of Living

With inflation and the enduring lust for money, the hostel charges are continuously being increased since a few years, here's the detailed breakdown for what I have observed.
Academic Year Semester fees (per sem) Hostel + mess + elec (per sem) + advance Summer term fee (whole) costs of living (projected and adjusted for inflation)
2019-20 1,78,000 22,900 + 15,000 62,300 ~10,000 (covid)
2020-21 1,99,000 24,150 + 15,000 69,900 ~27,000 (covid)
2021-22 2,18,500 25,550 + 15,000 78,000 <~50,000 (post-covid inflation)
2022-23 2,31,500 27,100 + 15,000 83,700 <~50,000
2023-24 (CURRENT) 2,51,000* 28,800 + 15,000* 87,900* <~55,000
* The fees are as per the archive since their webpage went down -> 2023-24 fee structure
The projected 4 year B.E. course price you have to pay would not exceed ~INR 27,55,000 /-
I am too lazy for finding projected for other courses.

Should you join it?

as a disclaimer, I am in no position to judge as I have lost hopes getting into BITS this year, since I have wasted a lot of money and seeing our house put of collateral for securing my admission into VIT I am in no way entitled to ask more money for second attempt from parents, but I can give you suggestions from what I've researched when I used to daydream about getting into BITS.
Overall Culture: when it comes to projects and teams, the students get highly competent, and after finding a good partner, you could go for numerous competitions like the Mars Rover Challenge (personal favourite), which needs skills from almost all branches inclusive of chemical and materials department. Which in turn also leads to better communicative skills and a top tier social life.
Imagine your parents get to see you with bunch of smart ass people just discussing about different stuff ranging from algorithms to spatial modelling of biological molecules, they will feel on top of the world.
Student life: I will not talk about the zero attendance policy nor about the strictness inside campus. Here, you NEED to have a control over yourself, drug peddling is quite common although no one talks about it, even at VIT Vellore, kids find a way to get that mind numbing puff. You will have an urge to just try it for once to find what is it for real, but DON'T. I guess I don't need to elaborate more.
Second, remember:
Darshane Punyam, Sparshane Paapam
Look at all the chics, maybe even flirt with them under limits, but don't indulge in bad stuff since you already know how horny you really are.
Now, for a better part BITS hosts numerous fests varying from cultural to tech clubs, some of the highlighted as follows:
Type of Event Pilani Goa Hyderabad
Cultural Annual Oasis Waves Fervour, PEARLS(?)
MUNs BITSMUN ----- -----
Tech Annual APOGEE Quark ATMOS
Sports BITS Open Sports Meet (BOSM) Spree Arena
Entrepreneurial ----- Coalescence -----
Social Service ----- ----- IGNITE
Click on the campus names for detailed info about all the events.

Toughness @ BITS

doesn't need much of a warning, it's tough. Although, the first year will go on a cakewalk, same stuff for everyone to learn, you might have problems with the engineering physics and drawing classes** so be prepared. Maintaining 9+ GPA is really hard, you have work your arse off more than what you are doing right now.
Getting scholarships is on the tougher side too, you can manage to get 10% off by little work, but getting those sweet 80% waivers can be tough, you have to ace your quizzes and assignments.
By the 3rd year, you will start getting tensed about internships, their interviews, your GPA and finally your courses. You have to be ready and try to complete all the side courses (if any) by the end of the third year so you can focus more on placements the next year (only for low pointers).
That's all of what I've learnt and understood from the students, there are easier aspects too but only if you are actually smart and can do more work in much less of a timeframe.

What course should I take?

You need to introspect yourself before asking this question, many people say to follow your interest but it's not always practical.
You see, I have a friend who wants to become a physicist, and yet he isn't able to solve measly problems in physics which might need more brainpower, and even shitting himself on questions of nuclear physics when he wants to do research in that specific field. Not only about questions, he doesn't even properly know about how the Hadron Collider works, just spurts out some random Fission and Fusion chickenshit when asked about.
OK, you should totally give your interests a higher ground during the counselling but ask yourself if you are actually ready for what you have to learn for the next four years, probably even your whole life. Since, it's BITS you'll be able to adapt yourself, but always take caution before every choice you're going to fill in during choice filling. Don't embarrass yourself afterwards.
Here are few courses your might be interested in anyways:
Interests Skills Course recommendation
Computers, Maths, Hardware (JOB BIASED) Little bit of OOP, good statistical knowledge, knows how shit works Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics
Physics, Building stuff, Likes to experiment (JOBS OR RESEARCH) Classical physics, mechanics, civil engineering stuff Mechanical, Electronics and Instrumentation, MSc Physics, Civil
chemistry chemistry chemistry
Maths, economics, next harshad mehta Maths (a little bit advanced is good), statistics, Economical and current affairs MSc Economics, MSc Mathematics
Biology, chemistry Biology, chemistry, (teeny weeny bit of Physics) B.Pharm, MSc Chemistry

My rants, remarks and opinions

Honestly, this was a ride and an escape for me to relieve a little bit of stress about how I was fcked this year. Denied EWS certificate, filed for an appeal, and no progress. Gave JEE as an OPEN candidate. Somehow got 10k rank in VITEEE, got cat 3 CSE, dad told me to leave no opportunities, now have to pay 4 lakhs tuition fee per annum, dad's income is 4 lakhs per annum. Took an educational loan from Indian Bank (13% interest + our house on collateral).
Called VIT, told me they will give a full refund if withdrawn before 11th September, but have to pay a cut of interest for the loan taken (did not specify how much). I am pretty sure they will be asking easily at 2-3 lakhs, unprepared for BITS after Nanu's death on 22nd April, (my VITEEE was on 24th), went with my mom to Kerala and back the next day and then again back to Kerala with dad and my 24 year old brother who has cerebral palsy. spent about 50k on the flight tickets alone. Wouldn't get BITS in the first attempt, afraid to register for 2nd.
Can't even commit suicide thinking about my brother, entitled school topper yesterday after results, teachers saying that I am not getting of what I am capable upto, really disappointed about me joining VIT instead of IITs (for god's sake).
Cousin sister told me to join her in Germany, (I've learnt german from her) but the living costs so high and the amount of stress my parents would have to take for this year has concerned me enough already. No one asks for this but please dm me, tell me your stories, it's nice to have someone around to talk shit.
Enough of rants, best of lucks to everyone
FOR AMATEUR DEVELOPERS OR INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING/RESEARCH
Since, this June and July are going to be an empty and un-exciting month for most of you, I need some amateur developers who can help me in building a college recommendation portal, which will help ease out the stresses students have to take while counselling and choice filling, I mean if not interested in joining some random dude and working your arse off, just take it as a recommendation for your next project :)

2024.05.15 16:43 Jonathan-Zaleta 19[M4F] Germany/Europe Looking for LOML

Alright I get it, LOML? Is this guy insane at 19 really? Yes Hopefully my first relationship will be my only. So without further a due, here we go...
Introduction
Hi, my name is Jonathan. Nice too meet you. Im 19 originally from the US and my interest and what I am passionate about is running, gym, traveling, gaming, and anime. My goals and priorities in life are to gain experience with managing money and how it works and starting a business of my own, creating a family and watch as our kids grow up(cheesy I know), and having enough free time to enjoy it with the fam such as traveling and also pursueing passions of mine. This is the general gist about me.
Looks:
I will send you a picture and saying high just so you are aware of what I look like because I think both of the physical and mental aspects of attraction are equally important. I will describe myself here so you get a general idea of what your getting into I guess lol. Im a 6ft 1(185cm for Europeans), 142 lbs hispanic guy with glasses. Im a tall lanky dude is the gist of it.
Interests and Passions:
Loved running as a kid, loved it as a highschooler, and still love it now as an adult. Longistance is my favorite but hey I can do walks if youd like. Gym is good for me in the long run and I love the progression. Shred for summer am I right. I picked up a love for traveling when I first visited NYC when I was 18 and loved the though of exploring new places, recently picked up a side passion of traveling in the form of unplanned spontanious trips(sometimes). Now being in Europe I have the option to go to a whole different country in just a couple hours like what???? I always loved video games as a kid and still now although I have less and less time to play them. Some of my favorites are SQUAD, WARFRAME,LEAGUE OF LEGENDS and ESCAPE FROM TARKOV just to name some but games Ive loved in the past are APEX LEGENDS, ROCKET LEAGUE, RUST, COD BO, FORTNITE, and DAYZ. Love games :). Anime is definetly a big one for me. Been getting into manga more recently but some of my favorite anime have to be action like MHA, Death Note, AOT, Naruto, Demon Slayer but favorite one is by far ONE PIECE. I also like some other animes that arent action like Dr. Stone.
Goals in Life:
I want to be financially stable is the main gist and free up a lot of time for adventures like traveling with my family or my passions like anime running and video games. Learning about money is by far the best way to achieve that goal. I want to start a family eventually maybe in the late or mid 20s depending on my partner. Just something about being a father and experiencing that joy of having another little you running around and watching and mentoring them as they grow up and become successful is just something else really. To reiterate what I said in the first sentance about financial stability goal I would like to do so to free up time and focus more on fun things with the family and enjoying the short life we've got to the fullest experiencing as much as we can.
What Im looking for in terms of looks and personality:
Have at least some mutal interest. Preferably be at a healthy or normal BMI, so really no overweight(sounds fatphobic I know but its just what I prefer) ladies, dealbreaker. Be 18+ (I say this for the Europeans mostly cause US knows its 18+ or a case). Thats really it, dont really care about the size of your butt or chest. Some preferences that are not dealbreakers but bonus or brown ie points are short haired, short, gamer, or asian. Again not dealbreakers or anything but it is prefered. Dont be rude as well.
Alright thats the end thanks for reading this, care more about having a special someone that cares about me and is eager to talk to me or be romantic. Hopefully if you are in europe we can meet up after getting to know each other. Have a great day. PS. if you did come this far us this emoji🗣️ and DM me if you found me interesting or would like to talk.

2024.05.15 16:43 radondude My Bladder Cancer Experience

I get a lot of messages asking about my cancer, so before I get to my story: I highly recommend visiting BCAN.org and asking to be paired up in their survivor to survivor program. Every diagnosis is different and the survivor to survivor program pairs you with someone with similar age, gender, and diagnosis, so you can ask all about their experience. I have enjoyed volunteering with the program and the newly diagnosed that I speak to seem to as well.
My story:
In March of 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage III muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Leading up to that diagnosis I had recurring episodes of extremely painful urination for nearly two years. Not a drop of blood in my urine. The episodes were becoming longer and more frequent. I had urgency and an extreme pain that had me calling out sick from work. It was pure misery and by the time I was diagnosed it was actually a relief.
The test I urge anyone reading this to get is a urine cytology. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. In my experience the urine cytology saved my life. It's a cheap "pee cup" test you can get at any urologist's office. More info here. My easy to remember rhyme is: if it burns when you pee, get a urine cytology.
Up until that test, doctors had been meandering down a path that was not focused on cancer. I was 33 years old (37M now) and due to my young age they didn't consider cancer. I had been in some mountain bike accidents with pelvic trauma so I was misdiagnosed with Pudendal Neuralgia. Symptoms matched but the treatment offered no relief.
I did my urine cytology. 15 minutes later "Atypical cells" led to a bladder scope and I was looking at my tumors in the urologist's office. The tumors were biopsied and I was scheduled for TURBT. This is where my stage III diagnosis was given. I felt immediate relief from the painful urination after tumor removal. The tumors were pressing on my ureters so it felt like kidney stones all the time. We immediately started chemo and my doctors began telling me I would lose my bladder. I did MVAC chemo for four rounds over the summer. This was very intense: what you think about when people say chemo. Lost my hair--gained weight which is not uncommon--and overall felt like shit. After that I was given a few weeks to recover and then had a radical cystectomy with neobladder diversion in August of 2020. This was not an easy decision but the prognosis was best. I tend to trust the data.
SHOUTOUT to my medical team: Dr. Bupathi & Dr. Monticelli of Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers; as well as Dr. Shandra Wilson my urologist and surgeon. Their skills and expertise assuaged all my concerns and made me feel so confident. THANK YOU SO MUCH. For those reading: get a good team; ask lots of questions; and don't be afraid to get multiple opinions. I keep several journals, which help a lot and I'll detail that at the bottom of this post*
Recovery from the neobladder surgery was the hardest part. I had a foley catheter and "grenade" for six weeks or so. My cath bag looked like a bag of red wine due to blood. They walk you around a lot to recover faster. It involved a lot of bed-rest intermixed with short walks. I think I was out of the office for at least a month. I am in generally very good physical shape and even several weeks after this procedure it was hard to walk more than 1/4 mile.
From there I thought I was cancer free. I lead my life with my family**. Here is what saved my life again: Signaterra testing. Dr. Bupathi had these tests scheduled every six weeks. It tracks genetic cancer markers in your blood. The test results look like the stock market except you want it to go down. After several months we noticed it was rising again. We ordered a PET scan, found enlarged lymph nodes, and determined my cancer had returned (or never left). I began a second chemo regiment followed by immunotheraphy (that I just completed yesterday!!!). CisGem chemo was quite difficult. The C in MVAC stands for cisplatin and it's generally one of the hardest drugs to tolerate. After a few difficult rounds we switched to carboplatin and it became much more tolerable. After that I did two years of Bavencio/Avelumab. My Natera test results showed that my cancer had dropped to untraceable levels during chemo, so I effectively beat it before starting the PDL1 inhibitor therapy. However, my team strongly encouraged me to complete the immuno. To me, it felt like putting out a campfire: add water, stir, add water, stir. You gotta make sure it's really gone!
The bavencio PDL1 therapy caused me a lot of mood swings and sometimes caused immune system flare ups (i.e. "immuno flu"). For the physical flare ups I used prednisone, as needed. I tried to do so sparingly as it basically cancels out your treatment. The mood swings were the worst. I would often be despondent and depressed for a few days after treatment. Other times, I'd feel no mood alterations. Most often, I'd be extremely irritable for about a week after treatment (treatments were every two weeks so it was very difficult).
I'm now two years cancer free and beginning my recovery from the immunotherapy treatments. I am so happy to live in an age of modern medicine. Within my lifetime many cancers will become manageable diseases--it appears to me that bladder cancer already has. Reach out to BCAN support groups and DM me if my post didn't answer a question of yours. Good luck! You got this!
*Journaling helped me tremendously. I had three journals (google docs). The first was an overall journal detailing my doctor visits. The second was a symptom journal. The third was an insurance journal/spreadsheet. The first journal served almost as a blog, which I shared with close friends and family. That way I didn't have to have the same conversation over and over. It's nice to have family and friends interested, but it does wear at you when you have to tell the same doctor visit over and over to people. This cut down on those discussions and allowed me to have more enjoyable calls with well-wishers. The second journal I would write down daily side effects and 1-10 pain scales. This was extremely important because I could bring it up with doctors and I wouldn't have to remember how I felt, I could look it up. It also helped me understand insidious side effects that take months to reveal themselves. This was the most important journal and kept me sane. There are soooo many side effects and when you start a cancer treatment program you often have no choice-- so why read them? Well this journal would help me understand when something was a side effect. Often just knowing that it wasn't you it was the drug would have a calming effect. The third journal was so I could fight insurance and get what I deserve. Insurance companies try to reduce payouts through exhaustion. They want you to give up. By documenting your experience you give yourself ammunition when you have to escalate a claim or file an appeal. You have everything laid out in an organized manner. You can get it out of your head and onto a spreadsheet so that you don't think about it when you go to bed at night. I had to file appeals several times, sometimes with Colorado Division of Insurance and my record-keeping was a tremendous boon to my case. Don't pay a bill as soon as you get it! Wait until you get the claim record from your insurance company and make sure the number on the bill matches what the insurance company told you to pay. If you cut that check wrong, you'll seldom get that money back!
**Neobladders do not have musculature like your normal bladder. I had several very severe bladder infections--a few that led to hospitalization. During the first 18 months or so, I was not catheterizing becuase I was under the impression that my new bladder worked. I peed constantly; however, I was retaining over one liter of urine at all times. This urine kept becoming infected and putting me in miserable situations. Under my urologists advice, I began cathing and immediately felt great. I lost nearly 10 lbs in "water weight" and no longer have any urgency issues. I can sleep through the night, but often will cath around five hours into the night just so I can sleep in later. On average I cath about once every three hours. It's not painful when done correctly. It's honestly just tedious. However, after all of this the only way my life is abnormal now is my cathing. I can swim, climb, play with my son and do any physical activity; it just takes longer to pee now. I'll take that win!

2024.05.15 16:42 Competitive_Luck_290 Step1 helping hand

Hey there!
I have completed my step1 a couple months back and I am studying for step2.
I scored 60% average in Uworld first pass and 240s in my UWSAs. Total study time was around 6mo.
I like to help students/peers to overcome the difficulties which I personally encountered during my step1 like making a (do-able) schedule and how to stick to it, when to start targeting assessments and how much gap should be between 2 assessments, highlighting the important/high yield topics from FA, quickly discussing a topic which the other person has difficulty understanding and how to tackle exam day anxiety and get a suitable date.
I got a-lot of help from my mentors (some I had to pay but it was worth it!) and I thought I should be doing something as well. So feel free to drop a dm and let me know what particular difficulties you are having and I'll share my experience/ suggest some alternative/ share my resources/ tutor you personally if need be.

Cheers!

2024.05.15 16:34 SomeWomanfromCanada What, if anything should I make of this radiology report?

I (52F) went to A&E back in late February because I waws having trouble drawing a full breath. Thinking I was going to be Rx'd some inhalers and perhaps referred to the respirology (I've been having problems for years but have never formally been diagnosed with asthma), you can imagine my shock when I was advised that I was being admitted because they were unhappy with some cardiac blood work results (they're working through those as I type).
Anyway, I'm on a waiting list to be seen by the Respiratory service (appointment is in mid July) but I've been given access to the radiology report(s) from all of the film they took on the day of my visit to A&E (X ray/CT scan etc).
A HOSPITAL NEAR YOU Patient Name: SomeWomanFromCanada MIS Number: 8186935918824 Hospital Number: 295375063 10118287 22/02/2024 CT Angiogram pulmonary Clinical Question:SOB intermittent worse this today, raised d-dimer and troponin?PE Findings: No previous imaging available for comparison. Can anyone please tell me what to make of this report?
I''m most interested in the references to _patchy atelectasis_ and _parencymal infiltrate_
From my limited medical knowledge, there's something going on in my lungs but it's not cancerous or anything icky like that nor is it cardiac in nature or a blood clot.
FWIW, I am prone to getting bronchitis every time I get a head cold (regardless of how mild the cold is); in the winter, cold air triggers repeated episodes of bronchitis (when I lived in Canada, I carried a bottle of Buckleys Mixture and an oral syringe in my purse all winter every winter because it was the only thing that would come close to helping the cough).
I've also recently been prescribed a 'blue' salbutamol (rescue) inhaler and a Clenil Modulite 100mcg (beclamethasone) 'brown' (reliever) inhaler by my GP (while I wait for my appointment with the respiratory service) ... I've felt better since I've started using them (I had a lung function test this morning and haven't had the Clenil Modulite since Monday night and am feeling a little congested in my chest.
Anyway, I am new to all of this and I thank you all for a) reading this far and b) offering your collective wisdom as I try to figure out WTF is going on.

2024.05.15 16:31 good-oysters Advice for US tickets

I somehow was able to get a MSG ticket. For those folks who might miss out on seeing him in NYC here’s what I think helped me. I hope you can maybe take this knowledge and use it to score LA tickets (they open as of writing this 2.5 hours from now)
Some of it might have been luck but I wanted to share some small advice that may have favored me.
  1. Show up like super early. Even before the queue is loaded in, I think Ticketmaster keeps track of how long you stare at a screen. I think I was at like the 1 hour mark for both dates.
  2. Have the code copied with your cursor before the queue starts
  3. Don’t be picky. I did VIP when I saw Roger a few years back but Roger does real tours, David doesn’t. If you can only get a lame seat, it’s still a seat to see Gilmour. Plenty of people would kill to get it. I would only back away from an available seat if you can’t afford the price.
  4. Have two different devices in queue for the two different dates. I simply went with the one that had the small number. One device was like 19888, the other one was 5000. Don’t use two devices for the same date, Ticketmaster can tell and it will butt you to the back of the queue. Also if you can, don’t be picky on the date (similar to the seat)
I wanted to just help out David’s true fans who are all posting here in this community, it shouldn’t have to be like this to see him but I just wanted to help people out.
I hope this helps some of you on your quest to see the greatest guitarist on planet preform potentially for the last time. If you guys have any other questions comment below or send me dm. Good luck to all of you.
EDIT: number 1.) may or may not help, apparently other people logged in early and apparently got a high number. Half stepping back a bit from that point, but in my opinion it doesn’t hurt to try and log in early if you can.

2024.05.15 16:29 Easy-Growth746 Should I apply for freshman or sophomore in high school? (intl)

Okay, I know the title can be confusing, so what i meant is this: I am 16-year-old transferring to international school in my country. My goal is to get into t20 unis which offer need-blind financial aids. I am in 10th grade in my current high school, but I am worried about my English skills and ecs. I had 2 Bs (music and pe) in 9th grade and did not have any ecs that would stand out. My parents think it would be the best to start as a freshman, and I kinda agree, though I think I am too old to be a freshman... if it makes sense. Please give me advices! thanks❤️ (also I am not sure if this is the right sub to post this... my apologies if this isn't appropriate to the sub)

2024.05.15 16:20 Honest-File9357 Why I'm vehemently FTP

Tl;dr Version for anyone who doesn't want to read a bit of a rant: This game is way too damn greedy. <--
Important Edit: I'm new to reddit but guess I'm just not allowed to talk because I have slightly negative Karma? I'll just try to edit this as I see more and more comments I can't respond to, or DM if you feel like it ig.
Some Various disclaimers and background information before the rant:
  1. No, this is post is not to shame people who aren't FTP. Do what you want with your money, I just want to explain why I don't think I'll ever support this game financially and see how the rest of the community feels. This is also not some propaganda to get you to either not spend money or stop spending money, or in other words by all means keep supporting Shift-Up and their products, do you boo.
  2. I'm not the biggest gacha game player, I've only played two prior to this (Girls Frontline and some Star Wars one), both that I did end up throwing a little money at to support them despite Nikke ultimately being more fun imo (just to show no, I'm not against in game purchases for free games out of principle). Big bold letters here tho incase you missed it: I HAVE PLAYED GACHA GAMES BEFORE
  3. I do enjoy this game and don't imagine I'll stop playing any time soon, as far as phone games go this is probably the most fun I've had (not the highest bar to set, I know). More big bold letters, because I know you like them (icky small letters go away >: ( I DO LIKE THIS GAME
  4. I understand that ultimately the goal of any game is to generate income, and I don't hold it against any game. Rather I have a problem with how this game "encourages" you to spend money.
  5. I started playing this game during the RE:Zero collab and quickly came to this conclusion, don't know what ultimately compelled me to rant about it (maybe just one too many all blue pulls)
Okay with that out the way let's get to the meat of the issue, which can honestly be summarized to 2 main sins so hell get ready for another list I guess : ^ )
1.The top heavy nature of the roster. "When everybody's special, no one will be"- Angry animated ginger dude (rip in peace). When I first started playing this game and doing some pulls I felt like a superstar, I mean wow I'm pulling all these super rares like it's nothing, even got all my counter girls maxed out and after about ~60 pulls I've managed 2 super super rares! Then I started to notice how all these "super rares" seem to have all hit max limit break and peeked at the Nikkepedia to realize the sad truth of this game. Given my past experiences with gacha I expected maybe something like 30% of the roster to be "SSR", not 95%. What's even more baffling is that the SSR actually does have it's own subcategory of "hey, these are actually the super rare ones" with Pilgrims having a miniscule chance to pull. I didn't want to put a list inside my list ( yo dawg, heard you like lists) but there's a few reasons why I really dislike this, and it was getting more and more "massive block of text" while I typed it so sorry.
-The first and probably most readily apparent issue being that it means you're unlocking new characters at a snails pace. It feels like the intended way to unlock new characters is to throw thousands of gems/ recruit rosters at the slot machine so you can do the high quality mold to actually have a chance (more on this later) to get a new character. I realize luck is a subjective matter, and yeah I've seen posts from people bragging about pulling 4-5 SSR in a pull, but objectively speaking the other gacha games were far more generous with the unlocking of new characters.
-Secondly, and probably what I hate the most, is that these "SSR" are simply not created equally (putting aside the obvious and aforementioned "actual SSR" of the pilgrims). I'm not saying every Nikke has to be an absolute powerhouse (more on this later) but if you want to make Nikkes that are just inferior versions of other Nikkes or have kits that just straight up aren't good, I dunno chief...maybe put them in a lower tier of the roster? Hell putting aside the meta/ actually caring about the kits of your waifus let's just talk about the lore/ backstory of these characters. Matis (my favorite squad, big hearts and kisses especially for Drake), the super star hero squad and best the Missilis company has to offer? Okay sure, makes sense they're SRR. Prima Donna Nikkes that...work in the music industry for some reason? Uh okay not sure why these military bots are making music but they're famous ig so why not, SSR it is. Oh hey Absolute, Rapi's former squad and supposed elite of Elysion now that's a contender for SSR for sure. Maid for you, Nikkes that run a maid cafe...well let's make em SSR. Okay okay I shouldn't hawk on the waifu game having waifus that are character archetypes even if it makes absolutely no sense in the setting of the game but you still get the point right? You have characters that are presented to you as the cream of the crop (in other words have lore friendly reasons to be classified as SSR) thrown into the same category of rarity of characters that work in maid cafes or other random civilian jobs/ hobbies. This all putting aside the actual strength of these character's kits (Matis is pretty good at least, big hearts and kisses) I'm simply referring to the story reasons for characters to be presented as "SSR".
-Thirdly this all just reeks of some system you see in a lot of games where they use certain words to artificially make you feel more accomplished, if that makes any sense. The lowest tier (of absolute garbage) is referred to as "rare", the slightly better but ultimately still useless (<3 u Rapi/ Anne) tier is "super rare", and the bulk of the roster is "super super rare." Fellas, that's not how the word "rare" works at all. I feel like most games at least refer to their filler trash as "common" or the like so why does the game call the, in lore, mass produced no personality foot soldier Nikkes "rare"? This leads back to "SSR" having it's own category of rarity, did they realize "SSSR" would look and sound stupid so that's why Pilgrims don't have their own category? I dunno, could have called it "ultra super dooper cream your pants because you're a real winner rare" or they could have just (alongside making some of the "unworthies" a lower tier) gone with 4 tiers with a more honest and conventional naming system (common- uncommon-rare-epic) but they didn't because that doesn't trigger the dopamine in slack jawed gamer so they like you more and spend more money or whatever reason so many games use terminology that feels like patting you on the back. Almost lost my cool there, sounding a lil schizo huh? Let's move on to the other main point to save face.
  1. The way progression is handled (and how that ties to the roster) "When you come to it and you can't go through it and you can't knock it down, you know that you've found the wall, the wall, the wall." -Mark Henry (still kicking, I think). Gacha games, or really most games, have parts that are for the cream of the crop. The real go getters (or go spenders) who invest a lot of time (or money) into the game and are rewarded for it. Usually these are things like raids or other limited time events, typically speaking though it's not the main story of the game that's the major hurdle for the playerbase to surmount. Typically speaking there's a slow and steady incline of requirements for players to progress through the story of a game, be it skill (let's be honest, not really a factor for gacha games) or equipment/loot, but not here. Instead you have rapidly increasing arbitrary "recommended power levels" (yes, we'll talk about this later) coupled with a massive middle finger in the form of level limit/ limit breaking in a nice package of pain and inconvenience, because I hate you for enjoying and caring about the story we wrote (which the game will proceed to spoil in events, which have a way lower bar of entry) or something idk. Jamie, pull up that list again.
-So pulling a SRR is "accomplishment" enough, pulling the same SRR 3 more times is whack crazy luck, doing that whole process 5 times is insultingly absurd (b-buh muh Kilo tho, because rip anybody who wasn't here for this event). Technically speaking there are systems in place to make this easier, but both of them are still hella rough. You can either use the wishlist feature (on the normal recruitment, and not for pilgrims) to cut out the massive bloat of SRR you don't care about and still pray on that 4% chance or you can grind out 200 total recruits to get mileage tickets to knock out one of 20 pulls you'll need in order to get pass this wall. You've already seen posts either lamenting their luck or singing praises to lord because after months people have managed this, and imo that is not a good system of progression for the main story of your game. I don't have a problem with there being content that encourages you to spend money, for heavens sake they have a "hard campaign" (which is just the same lay out of campaign maps with massively spiked up requirements with the same exact rewards as the normal story, minus the actual story part) so why not just let people enjoy the normal campaign. It comes off as a really cheap and scummy way to encourage people to spend money, holding the story of your game hostage. Just lower the requirements of the normal campaign, I'm sure older players don't have the "naw these new players need to suffer like I suffered" mentality, nobody is going to be mad at you.
-Oh yeah, recommended power levels. A lot of games have the system of "increase your number to keep up with the enemies increasing number" but none of those feels like a slap in the face as this game's system of "you'll either meet this required number or we'll just nerf your damage to the ground" (evidently the exact percentage of this used to be a lot worse before they patched it, further proof that the playerbase isn't against the game being made more accessible). This is probably the part where the Nikke superfan tells me I just have a massive skill issue and it's totally possible to clear these missions at a deficit, and this is absolutely true. I've seem some superstars talking about clearing levels while under 20k or more the recommended amount (I've only managed 10k, all thanks to Crown whom I love and cherish) and you know what the secret to success is? I just hinted at it in those parenthesis but it comes down to pulling "the right" SSR Nikkes. Okay that's a little disingenuous , as there's a little bit of skill/ understanding of the games system involved and grinding out the various resources you need to level said actually good SSR Nikkes, but it doesn't change the fact that there are Nikkes you actually want if you care about progressing through the game and there's all the ones you don't that seemingly only exist to reduce your chances of pulling these Nikkes. Let's backtrack to that "wishlist" system for a bit, which is what is intended to make sure you get the (non pilgrim) Nikkes you want like Liter or Tia. You'll recall that the wishlist doesn't increase your total chance to pull a SRR (makes sense) but just ensures that you only pull the designated SSR, but the problem is this only applies to this normal pulling. It is still my opinion that most of the SSR you're gonna get are going to come from the various molds, which cleverly has no such system of wishliting (because let's be honest, this would probably destroy any incentive to pay money for people who don't care about costumes). So you're either dealing with a system of most likely not getting any SSR from normal pulling or having a slim chance of pulling the SSR you need (assuming you even pull a SSR to begin with) with the mold, neither of which sound too appealing to me
-Speaking of molds, and this probably going to be my most controversial take (or at the least the most demanding), it is blatantly unfair that high quality and company molds aren't a guaranteed SSR. In the case of of the high quality mold the process of getting one is slow enough (I maybe manage 1 a week, outside of events or CD redemption that may give more) and there are enough SSR (putting aside the fact that you want to pull the same SSR multiple times anyway) that I really don't think it would be that bad if you just don't let us get kicked in the gut by pulling Neon after all that effort. In the case of the company specific molds from the tribe towers you are quite literally hard limited to pulling 3-7 a day (assuming of course you have a squad capable of tackling the tower), and you're going to make them have an even lower total chance of a SSR than the normal high quality mold. I'm only half way to my pilgrim mold (I had to wait till crown before I even felt like starting the tower, because even doing the easiest levels is mind numbing with just one Nikke) but I've heard horror stories of going 5 pilgrim molds with no pilgrim in sight, and ngl I may just weep when it's my turn to experience that. If you want to further reduce the acquisition of molds to still encourage some spending that's fine by me, but please let us have some safety net in this ruthless Nikke grind.
That's pretty much it for the rant so I just want to finish with some closing thoughts. I really do like this game, honest, and I wouldn't mind supporting it if it just didn't make me feel so used and abused. There are plenty of games with microtransactions or additional content where it feels like you're buying them because you want to support the dev, not because it feels like they're holding a gun to your head, and I just want this game to feel more like the former. I'm happy to discuss this rant further if anybody has their own ideas and opinions (or even if people just want to defend the game) so let me know what yall think, assuming you even read that blob of text up there.

2024.05.15 16:14 STRiPESandShades [F4A] DC/Batman/Teen Titans RP

Penelope Todd has been begging for years to be trained to be a hero like her brother and to put her unique teleporting superpowers to work. But it's too dangerous, especially after Jason's death... and she isn't ready to find out what's Under The Red Hood.
Hello, all! I'm a 30F long-time RPer (I used to write on GaiaOnline if that gives you a good idea of how long I've been doing this!)
I'm in search of someone to explore this character within the Batman/Batfamily sphere, whether they'd choose to play Nightwing, Jason himself, or even the Bat. I'm only just starting to get into this fandom - I'm new to the comics and I've seen a couple of the animated movies, so my knowledge isn't the strongest in the world, but I'm happy to put some research in if my potential partner can be a little patient with me.
I'm happy to write with anyone of any gender presentation as long as they're willing to play a relevant character and really delve into some character thoughts and details with me! This also isn't necessarily a call for a romance-oriented RP, it can be a friendship, mentorship, sibling relationship, etc. Romance is welcome, but not necessary.
I write long-form, third-person, highly literate posts with multiple paragraphs and I love to chat and plan OOC! I expect any RP partners to be enthusiastic about writing lots with me! I live in the UK/GMT timezone, although I keep bizarre hours, and I make an honest attempt to write at least one post daily.
Please Reddit DM (NOT CHATS!) if interested!

2024.05.15 15:19 Gamin_Nater_78 I hate SnD

I know this is a hot topic or something, or maybe not, I don't care.
I simply just have to express my intense, hair-pulling, phone-smashing frustrations with this damn gamemode.
Why? Because I suck that's why, for half the game I'm forced to watch others as they run around the map like crack addicted rats with shotguns and snipers.
I know the whole appeal is the fast TTK, even more so with those weapons I mentioned, but like holy shit chill tf out, they are both some of the most OP weapons in the game and I haven't even played long enough to get the short-barrels for the DLQ and Locust.(I'm not a baby-faced newbie... mostly, I started back in 2020 but dropped out 2022, why? for the same damn reason, extreme frustration)
Yes I know you could say just play something else, or to cope, or to get better (valid actually) or skill issue, but that doesn't make me wanna throw my phone against my tiled floor at mach-fuck, but this isn't even the worst part, the worst part is that most of the mfs in global chat only ever ask for 1v1s and SnD.
Not only do I have my head popped every time I peak a corner, not only does my heart-rate go from high to getting jumpstarted by a car battery, not only can I barely play the game, not only do I go against mfs with legendary skins and diamond camos, but I can't even find friends to play other gamemodes with because by the looks of it everyone loves SnD
So uhh yeah thanks for reading my seething rant about a gamemode I hate, feel free to insult or to help, I'm gonna go and spend the rest of my day having it ruined by CoDm(Good god maybe I should leave)
