I’ve been FWB with this guy for about 6 months now. Usually once a month I’ll stay at his place for a few days, spend the night and we’ll have activities and crafts planned out for the weekend, alongside the benefits part.
I’ve noticed during my more recent visits however, he’s been a lot more outwardly affectionate…Wanting to constantly hold hands, paying for whatever lunch, dinner or dessert we’re having together, breakfast in bed, driving me around to wherever I wanna go, buying snacks I’ve mentioned I like in passing, rly playing into any stupid jokes I tell, adding me to his private Instagram with mainly his family & close friends, just to list a few of the perks.
He’s said in the past he’s not wanting a relationship, but that was also in the same breath he mentioned how much he values privacy when it comes to strangers he meets off hookup apps. (I’ve since been to his work and school with him to just hang out while he’s worked on projects.)
He seems like a really caring guy in general, however some of his actions are starting to steer towards 'how you treat someone your invested in romantically', or at least that’s how I perceive them. Is this just typical FWB behavior?

Me F37 and my partner M36 have been together for 18 months. He is the sole caretaker for his daughter 13 and son 10. Bio moms out of the picture since stepdaughter was 5. She was an abusive alcoholic and doesn’t play any role in their lives other than the odd text. They moved in 6 months ago, it may have seemed soon to a lot of people but we all just didn’t like being apart. We had a few hiccups here and there but for the most part it’s been really good. Being a full time mom overnight hasn’t been easy but my partner is incredible and his kids are kind just like he is. Kind, attentive and caring. Step daughter for sure has her moments. She’s 13 and is going through all the typical teen stuff. I don’t have any kids but I grew up with all sisters and boy do I remember those years. She’s going through the lying phase and acting out phase, very “me centric.” Compounded by stuff she went through with her bio mom. I got her into therapy so she has an unbiased person to talk to about anything she doesn’t want to talk to us about.
One thing I just don’t know how to deal with. She gets these really weird phases where she doesn’t want me to do anything with her Dad. It’s what ended two of his last relationships, both only lasting a few months. She’s actually been really good with me compared to his past relationships. But she freaks out and has a meltdown when we plan anything together. He had never left the country so I surprised him with a Mexico trip last winter. She lost it. Demanded we take her. Hell, we had dinner out with friends one night and good god we came home to a meltdown that we abandoned her and her brother at home. We are planning a canoe trip for three days next month and we can’t bring it up around her cause she loses it. Then we mentioned we wanted to do something next winter out of the country and she stormed away and freaked out slamming doors cause we aren’t taking her. We’ve done family trips together already. Road trips, camping trips etc. I plan stuff with her. I’m taking her on a girls trip this fall and we’re flying somewhere. I’ve taken her on camping trips just her and I. We do plan on doing an overseas trip eventually but it’s just not going to happen anytime soon. We want to wait till her brother is older and we want to buy a house for all of us first. She will even freak out if I plan a trip alone. My step son for the most part doesn’t care too much but sometimes she will get him involved too.
I’m having a hard time having to tiptoe around this kid. I’ve travelled my whole life. Having a 13 year old try and dictate how I’m supposed to spend my time and money is hard. My partner has dedicated his whole life to his kids and I wanted to be able to take him somewhere once a year where he can just relax. I want him to have that. We want to do things together while they are gone but if they find out we have any kind of plan they will try and cancel and stay home to stop it from happening. She will often insist her Dad to cancel his plans with me to stay home with her. I understand why she’s doing this. She doesn’t want to share her Dad and she doesn’t want to be left out. She wants to know that her Dad loves her more than me. She wants her Dad to chose her over me. She has said these things in her own way. I understand it completely and I don’t take it personally. I think these are all normal feelings.
I know she loves me. I know she loves having us together. But I don’t know how to deal with these meltdowns. I’m tired of being secretive about it. I just want to tell her and explain it but it seems to give her time to try and sabotage it. I’ve adjusted my life completely for them and I’m glad I have. But it gets my back up when this kid tells us how we can and can’t spend our very rare private time.

We were madly in love. Both not looking for something but still ended up together. After a few months decided to move in together because it didnt work out at her place and mine either with roommates.
Fights started to come and she liked to let it be which was totally opposed to me wanting to sort it out immediately. I kept giving little gestures of love like kisses and hugs as a ritual for coming home, before eating or sleeping.
After a while stuff didnt get resolved. I had a mental breakdown because of the pressure at work and she saw me cry for the first time..
Slowly we started going to sleep with unresolved arguments. Everytime something came up it started snowballing.
We decided to try and talk even though both stubborn but never managed to listen, just having hours long talks until we sort of agreed.
At some point we had to move again. She was away from her family as they lived in another country. The appartment was super small, she hated her job. I agreed to an internship for a while so was not paid. The pressure increased. We got into the same fights and dindnt really resolve them anymore until i accidentally mentioned her moving back to her family. At some point she did.
I was broken inside.
Long story short after about a month somehow i mentioned to get her back, her stuff was still there also so she had to come at some point. I was overjoyed. She didnt have a job anymore and i continued my internship which put another pressure on us to pay bills, some disagreements and the fragility of the situation made the hard times come back although i promised her i would never make her feel sad again. A few times i mentioned i was not feeling good, hoping to be heard but instead it always went to making her feel upset because i told her i didnt feel good.
It created frustrations and we had a bigger fight again.
This day she moved out with ALL of her stuff without me being there or having the chance to talk. (She was back for about 2 weeks).
We agreed to try no contact. Which we both broke a but occasionally. I know she still felt for me so i planned a suprise trip, flew close to her hometown and booked an airbnb. She was shocked but we talked and had the most amazing weekend. I knew how she loved not having to pick so i brought her a luxury dress, skirt and a book i wrote my thoughts in during no contact reminiscing about our good times.
We started talking again, watching shows on netflix and slowly talked about getting to know rach other again. I felt happy as it was going in a very good direction. This lasted for about a month and a half, a discussion or two occured where i talked about needing some reassurance. She never wznted to give it to me. Even though we had daily calls,she said she loved me and i needed to trust her actions on this. When i was out she was jealous often and scared i would date other girls.
I made it very clear i'd wait and give her what she wanted even though it was hard. Extremely hard.
I planned another holiday with her and she agreed.
At some point she started a new job, she stopped using all the apps as much that we shared as a couple (livestatus,ally) and started having less time for movies/calls slowly. I felt like something was off but she told me tshe called when she could and sends me pictures so it should be okay.
She mentioned sometimes she didnt want a relationship. But we also talked a lot about not being able to be friends and that what we were doing was slowly dating and having a relationship. It was so confusing and a rollercoaster everyday.
Sidenote: we still had alot of bulls to pay when we split and i took care of that for her ( few thousands)
The holiday is supposed to be in six days Yesterday she called and told me finally that she doesnt think its fair to me that i do all this and spend all this money. We both cried. She told m that it was probably not going to happen, that the trip maybe might not be a good idea. All along also now she told me she loved me and cared for me deeply. But it broke all trust in me.
I hope she still wants to go. I know theres something and that she might be afraid to follow her heart instead of her mind.
I want the best for her and am sure i could give her that. But somehow she tries to convince herself in me being some evil person because of the arguments.
With every thought instead of considering im human she brings up some clinical term to try and put a label on it.
Now i dont only feel heartbroken but also used and like the love was bever real.as she was the one that wanted to marry and was so extremely in love in the first place

2024.05.21 10:47 wreckofacreature just realized my OCs are complete projections of my dissociative parts
my main three OCs (who are siblings!) have the exact same personalities as my dissociative parts lol. ive always known their personalities so intuitively, its felt like they just wrote themselves because id never been able to create OCs before, but one day had full personalities and relationships for three characters appear out of thin air. now that ive realized i might have OSDD and have been trying to better understand each of my parts, ive found three and it just clicked that we are the same as our characters.
1st character is unmotivated and antisocial. they cant muster the strength to do any simple tasks and rely on their siblings to do it for them. they constantly cancel plans, avoid their friends and family, and do anything they can to find an excuse to lie in bed all day every day even though they hate it just as much as they hate doing other things. they are me.
the 2nd character cares about everyone more than they can even mentally handle. they want to do everything they can to take care of the people they love, and even people they dont love. theyre trusting and forgiving to the point of naïveté, they overwork themselves constantly, and they are the caretaker of their other two siblings who fully rely on them to survive. thats the part we have been calling bee.
the 3rd character just wants to get everything done was efficiently as possible. they despise everything they deem illogical or subjective and need everything to have evidence and reasoning. they get extremely irritated if anyone does anything they cant understand or think was unnecessary. they try to take care of themself and do so very well, but still require support from their sibling to not completely shut down from stress. thats the part we have been calling william.

I don’t think anyone knows where to start when it comes to asking for a bit of guidance when it comes to marriage. I just feel as if my anxiety can’t take it anymore, and I’m in a state of fight or flight. I’m at my hard time in marriage.
My husband (26M) and I (25F) have been together for 4 years and married for a year. We have 2 beautiful children and are very committed to our family. Although we are faulting in our promises we are wanting to change for one another, so I think. We both have grown and have come a long way of trying our best for each other and ourselves. Over the time I’m beginning to feel more anxiety on our fights that are repeating themselves.
We both are very prideful during our arguments and of course just like any other marriage, we can be quiet hurtful when it comes to words. At the end we of course try our best to let go and move forward, but how can I when it comes to a constant argument over how “ it was said, done or understood. “ I’m really trying my best to move forward. I want to save my marriage, I want to speak to my spouse without having to feel like I’m going to say or do the wrong thing or vice versa.
My husband and I have our own roles for our family, as he works to support our family while I raise the babies and tend to our home needs. Sometimes are fights can be about the way the other person is holding all the pressure. We haven’t had any chance to do anything for ourselves or each other, not like it’s a big thing for us but I have made it a point for us to get time to ourselves or even to feel wanted like we once did.
For example, just the other day we had another of our deep talks, due to us arguing. I’m a week postpartum and he of course took a week off to be at home. We had a misunderstanding as I woke up going on my routine with my son, making sure he ate breakfast, brushed his teeth, etc. the whole shabang for us mom’s and our babies. Well of course without fault dad isn’t fully aware of our daily routine and automatically thought I was being pushy and bossing around. I explained I wasn’t mad and that even though he is home I’m not going to expect him to do what I do. Although than began the fight my husband’s move is to name call, throw out smart ass remarks, and from my understanding always wants to say the last words. As I guilty can say that I than defend myself by just ignoring him, expressing that others wouldn’t be treating me like this, and also mentioning of course his anger issue’s.
We’re all human I’m at fault too but it’s just starting to feel like now it’s hitting me more after I realize it’s the SAME arguments over and over again. The same apologizes, the same faults that we both try to amend and fix. Now it’s just being to get at the point of I’m disappointed, within myself and the both of us. My husband believes I haven’t changed or hear what I’m saying sometimes, it’s seems like he’s the only one that is doing better while I just complain and keep calling the kettle black. I’m at my end of no longer feeling emotionally attacked by him or me emotionally attacking him.
I care about his feelings and wants, as of course he feels the same way, but how so when we both are to hateful during our arguments and talks. I’ve expressed to him about couple’s therapy or counseling because I feel like as if it’ll benefit my struggles of communicating, skills and behaviors that need to be taken into consideration. I love my husband, I love our life that we built, our family but how can I tell myself I’m having a hard time or being put through a hard time.
I’m willing to hear anyone’s advice, options or opinions on what is the best possibility for us. I have made it known that even through our rich love I’m willing to throw the towel in if it begins to effect our marriage worse or our children. I don’t want to give up, I never want to give us up but I need us to both understand how this is actually affecting us and that we both need help through this.

We both are very prideful during our arguments and of course just like any other marriage, we can be quiet hurtful when it comes to words. At the end we of course try our best to let go and move forward, but how can I when it comes to a constant argument over how “ it was said, done or understood. “ I’m really trying my best to move forward. I want to save my marriage, I want to speak to my spouse without having to feel like I’m going to say or do the wrong thing or vice versa.
My husband and I have our own roles for our family, as he works to support our family while I raise the babies and tend to our home needs. Sometimes are fights can be about the way the other person is holding all the pressure. We haven’t had any chance to do anything for ourselves or each other, not like it’s a big thing for us but I have made it a point for us to get time to ourselves or even to feel wanted like we once did.
For example, just the other day we had another of our deep talks, due to us arguing. I’m a week postpartum and he of course took a week off to be at home. We had a misunderstanding as I woke up going on my routine with my son, making sure he ate breakfast, brushed his teeth, etc. the whole shabang for us mom’s and our babies. Well of course without fault dad isn’t fully aware of our daily routine and automatically thought I was being pushy and bossing around. I explained I wasn’t mad and that even though he is home I’m not going to expect him to do what I do. Although than began the fight my husband’s move is to name call, throw out smart ass remarks, and from my understanding always wants to say the last words. As I guilty can say that I than defend myself by just ignoring him, expressing that others wouldn’t be treating me like this, and also mentioning of course his anger issue’s.
We’re all human I’m at fault too but it’s just starting to feel like now it’s hitting me more after I realize it’s the SAME arguments over and over again. The same apologizes, the same faults that we both try to amend and fix. Now it’s just being to get at the point of I’m disappointed, within myself and the both of us. My husband believes I haven’t changed or hear what I’m saying sometimes, it’s seems like he’s the only one that is doing better while I just complain and keep calling the kettle black. I’m at my end of no longer feeling emotionally attacked by him or me emotionally attacking him.
I care about his feelings and wants, as of course he feels the same way, but how so when we both are to hateful during our arguments and talks. I’ve expressed to him about couple’s therapy or counseling because I feel like as if it’ll benefit my struggles of communicating, skills and behaviors that need to be taken into consideration. I love my husband, I love our life that we built, our family but how can I tell myself I’m having a hard time or being put through a hard time.
I’m willing to hear anyone’s advice, options or opinions on what is the best possibility for us. I have made it known that even through our rich love I’m willing to throw the towel in if it begins to effect our marriage worse or our children. I don’t want to give up, I never want to give us up but I need us to both understand how this is actually affecting us and that we both need help through this.

Hi all, so firstly, I haven't been able to see a doctor yet (planning to, more on that below), but about a week ago I randomly woke up with a severe stabbing pain just below my rib cage on the right side, it was probably a pain of 6 for me, I took a Tylenol and just sat in bed breathing steadily. It calmed down after about 40 minutes and I went back to sleep, but woke up with a dull pain in the same spot. That pain continued (burning sensation, could pinpoint exactly where it came from, felt it in my back) and then 4 days later during the evening I felt the pain building up, for about an hour it was like a constant level 5 pain, I decided to go lie down, and woke up an hour later with the most severe pain I've ever felt, it was a full 9 on the scale. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, I just laid there trying to breath while it felt like someone had shoved a burning pole through me in the exact same spot. I probably should have gone to the ER but I grew up with doctor grandparents and traumatized boomer parents and thus it was grilled into me that you shouldn't go to the ER unless you're spewing blood everywhere. The pain since died down but has not gone away, the same thing as it was 4 days ago where I can feel it, but it never goes away completely.
So, my question is, does this sound like gallbladder attack?
I have no other symptoms except I've been bleching more, my diet has been normal, and my stress has been better than before but not great. I'm hesitant to go to the ER because I don't have the proper health care card for my province, I only moved here 8 months ago and I haven't decided if I'm staying yet, plus I don't want to go only for them to send me back home with no results and nothing farther. Hi! I need some advice in setting boundaries. My bf and I (both 23) have been together for just over a year now and moved in together two months ago to our own apartment.
We moved together especially for the reason of us being alone and building our routine together as a couple.
But here is where it all becomes tricky. In our first year of dating, I got to know that he was close to his family, but he didn't show it to the extent we are at now. (Mind you the family closeness comes from their national tradition also). But when we moved together (for the last two months) my MIL especially, as well as the rest of the mom's side of the family, doesn't leave him alone. What is especially driving me nuts is the constant calling. On workdays he gets about 5-10 calls per day, MIL calls him at least 3 times, grandma as well. When he gets home it continues. On weekdays, when we usually try to have our time together, MIL calls him 5 times a day, asking him stupid questions for ex.: did he eat, does he need food, will he come at her place for lunch... and every week its the fking same. For example on saturday I started cooking lunch and then MIL calls and just announces she is bringing us food. Like excuse me?!?! And 15 minutes after dropping it off, she calls to ask if we ate? Well no, we threw it in the trash duh. And then two hours later she calls again saying she would like to come to visit us. Not even asking if we have plans/ time, which we did. Whenever I tell my BF that I don't like her interfering and calling all the time, he doesn't step on my side but defends her. I knew its a cultural difference, but we talked about this before we moved and now he's doing the exact opposite of what we agreed on.
She also makes some disrespectful comments, about how when me and my boyfriend will argue he is always welcome in her place, and how mom will take care of him. And whenever we have a disagreement she starts telling him how she misses him and loves him, like she is using it to her advantage.
Recently I've notices she plants ideas in his head based of which we later argue. The other day he was sleeping in the afternoon, and we made a deal that later we will go to get groceries together. So he wakes up and is still tired and asks me if I can go alone that he would like to rest, I then go alone and when Im returning I call him to ask him if he wants to eat anything special from the bakery or a kebab maybe. He replied no thanks i am at MILs house, see you later. I was a little bit angry because he didnt help me, but instead ran to her house the moment i left the apartment(his excuse was that she called him and sad she missed him so much) . So I ended the phone call by just saying: real nice, and then i hung up. After two hours when he came home he was mad at me, because I didn't greet her and he told me she was telling him how she feels I don't like her and asked him if she, the poor MIL, did something wrong. And then we had an argument . He said I dont respect her, and I said to him that this is all to overwhelming, and I have a feeling that out agreements don't stick the second she calls and makes planes or expresses the wish to see him. Even tho we live 10 minutes away, and they see each other 4/5 time a week. (Also I am always respectful and cultured with her, giving her no reason to think I don't like her, even if I don't)
She always acts nice and understanding of our alone time and private life, but then does the exact opposite. We also help her alot financially because her husband (my BFs dad) and her are divorcing. But she continuously spends a lot on useless stuff. I think by observing her behaviour she tends to always be the victim, and never guilty of anything. Also with the divorce, she is presenting her husband, as the worst human possible, but her as the innocent, trash talking their dad to her children.
I hate her invasion in our "together life", but I also blame my bf for not stepping in and talking boundaries with her. I feel like his family doesn't let us alone since we moved together, like they're always checking on him.
I get that we keep in touch with family, but this is just too much.
What should I do, how do I improve the situation, because all of what is written above might be the dealbreaker for this relationship?

I, a single, twenty year old female gave birth to a baby girl about two months ago, and at the same time adopted a second baby girl who was born about three days before. The daughter that I had in my uterus, I will call Rose. The daughter that I didn't carry I will call lily.
I got pregnant with rose about the same time that my best friend who I'll call Anna got pregnant with Lily. While I was ecstatic about being pregnant, anna was not. Anna felt that she wasn't in a good place emotionally, financially, or any other way to have a child. She told me she was considering getting an abortion, but that she wished her child could have a good life somewhere else, instead of "just being thrown away" but anytime she pictured putting her child up for adoption she remembers all of the story's of abusive adoptive parents. She said that she felt helpless because there didn't seem to be any good answers, that's when we came up with a hesitant plan.
We decided that if after Lily's birth, anna still didn't feel like she could raise her i would adopt Lily and raise the girls as twins. Anna didn't want Lily to know she was adopted, but I hated the idea of lying to a daughter of mine. We decided that once lily was old enough to understand I would explain that she was adopted. if at that point anna felt ready we would tell Lily that Anna was her bio mom, and if not then we would say that her mother wasn't ready for her to know who she was. This way lily could live her life, Anna didn't need to be worried about Lily because she could check on her at any time, and Anna would be able to continue working on getting her life in order.
I chose not to have any of my family in the room during the birth because I wasn't comfortable with them seeing me like that, and Anna was fighting with her family at the time. So anna and i were the only ones in the room for each other during the births. After lily was born Anna still wanted me to adopt Lily, and also said that she did want to be in her life more than she originally thought. we decided that she would be the god mother of both girls and I would be their mother. when it was time for us to go home, I organized a get together for my family to meet both of my daughters and we went forward with the adoption.
As soon as my grandmother met my babies she asked me which one was my daughter, and I replied that they both were. She rolled her eyes and said that I knew what she meant, I told her that, no I dont because they are both my daughters. she got mad about that and asked me which one was "my real daughter" and my parents backed her up saying that I should tell them which daughter I had adopted. I got mad and asked them why it mattered, both babies are my children, I'm breast feeding both of them, I named both of them, and I was there through the entire pregnancy for both of them, even if I only carried one of them myself.
This lead to a fight with my family insisting that I tell them which daughter is which, and me insisting that my grandmother apologized for implying that one of them wasn't my real daughter. My parents told me that I am being dramatic, pointlessly stubborn, ridiculous, and that they just wanted to know when dealing with the girls which one was their granddaughter. I kicked all of them out and said that unless they apologize and stop asking which daughter is adopted, they would not get to see either of them.

I also reiterated that until I get an apology, and they agree to view my daughters equally they will not see the girls and I will not be talking to them. To give abit of context, my boyfriend (26M) and I (22F) had been together for 2 years. He was the sweetest person I’ve ever met. We connected immediately, and he was the love of my life. He was the only friend I needed. We always went on dates to fancy restaurants, we planned to have kids and get married.
Around the time we had been together for 1 year and 6 months, we planned to meet his family. I was super excited and thought they would be caring and sweet like him, until I met them.
He had 2 sisters and a brother, but his father wasn’t present. When me and him flew over to visit them, I was randomly super nervous and got this gut feeling. It wasn’t a good one. I ignored it, and when we landed, their house was huge. It was at least $2 million, that’s how nice it was. His sister, Miqa, (18F, weird name I know but it was pronounced Mia.) had greeted me with a snotty attitude. These kids were clearly spoiled out of their minds.
