Scooter in 1st photo. New baby sister, Scout, in 2nd photo. We pick her up mid-June. Would love to hear from any multi-pap families how your older dog reacted to another papillon joining your crew. My Scooter can be “moody/cat-like”, so this should be interesting!

2024.05.07 15:22 DianaPenPal [Thank You] Some sunny Tuesday love ☀️ 💌📬

u/Destalena Thank you for the nice thank you postcard!
u/RideThatBridge Thank you for the bookstore postcard! I agree - it would be super cool to travel the world and visit all the famous bookstores to photograph them!
u/amps_by_the_sea Thank you for the spring card and the Maya Angelou quote! I think this is from the Meta Challenge?
u/cswl x 4 Thank you for the Tangled postcard - I actually am not that big into Disney movies since probably the Lion King came out so to answer your question, no I haven't seen it. Thank you for the B postcard (I think it's a B?) Friday nights used to be religiously pizza night at my place too! Until me and my husband got sick of it haha We might start doing it again soon though since it's been a while. Thank you for the Jane Eyre postcard - I just scored a nice COSRX cleanser at Marshalls that's probably my new favorite! Thank you for the LouPaper charcuterie postcard! Yes, I think I've spent SO much on skincare too and my skin doesn't feel thaaaat much different 😮‍💨
u/OneiricOstrich x 2 Thank you for participating in my skincare writing exchange! What do you mean that yours wasn't as detailed, you filled the card!! 😍 I think I said it in my card but I also just started getting more into skincare this past year too! Interesting - I'll have to look into products with Calendula in it - I've only had it in tea before. I have the CeraVe moisturizing lotion with SPF but it pills so bad for me so it's just sitting in my bathroom cabinet until the next time I decide to give it a go (has happened like 10 times now lol). Holy cow you are lucky to have a brother who works at Sephora!! And thank you for the adorable hedgehog card and allllllll the awesome extras!! You have amazing tastes in stickers! I am absolutely loving these crazy cool cryptids stickers - where on Earth did you find them? And the little pupper stickers are so cute, I'm so excited to have a Papillon one, they never do Papillons!!! It looks just like my Pap, Moxxi! I really appreciate all the extras and effort you put into my little care package 💖
u/melhen16 Thank you for the national postcard week postcard - I had no clue it was this week!

2024.05.01 15:12 ghuppe_ Help! Loulou (6 months) is hyper all the time!

Our beloved Papillon puppy, Loulou, has been chaotic lately. He gets a lot of exercise daily (running at the dog park, playing, walking, etc.) and mental stimulation (puzzles, interactive toys, training sessions, etc.).puzzles, interactive toys, training sessions, etc.) Despite that, he gets extreme bursts of energy, mainly before bedtime.
I never experienced this much hyperactivity with my previous dog (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), even as a puppy. So, I don't know how to deal with all that energy. Do paps calm down with age?

Pepinos! I Saw Her in the Wild!
I was walking in the West Village, on my way to a meeting and look up to see the most severe eyebrows I have ever glimpsed, along with the telltale picked-at skin between the brows. She was talking on her phone and chewing her thumbnail. She looked preoccupied (wonder why….!).
If you have any doubt as to this sighting, I CAN confirm she was shuffling along in the trademark hideous slippers (you know, the recent ones—fuzzy black with white pearls). I waited a few moments and then snapped a pic. I know, it’s blurry—I am a New Yorker and don’t typically take pap photos because it is considered un-New Yorky passé. 😂 But I decided I had a duty to my pepino community! And here we are. Enjoy.

Hi! I’m the girl who asked if my papillon was full blooded about 112 days ago. I wanted to show you guys an updated photo.
I still haven’t gotten an embark (funds have been incredibly low) original post in the photos as well for anyone who doesn’t remember. Figured I’d update y’all! But here’s a very recent photo. His ear fringes are finally growing back and he’s gained some weight!

Paperanian?
We just adopted this little guy from a rescue (he was saved from an animal hoarding situation). We were told he was a Pom mix. But then we got him and saw his face up close — the size and shape are identical to our papillon! He is 10 lbs and also has the leg fringes and some of our pap’s behaviors.
We’re going to get him DNA tested (lmk if anyone recommends a certain brand), but wanted to see what this crew thinks too!

2024.04.15 19:14 Wenduo2020 Which flight cage size for Papillon?

Hi again everyone, I just wonder can anyone tell me what's the average height for a female Papillon? Or in general which flight cage size should I be looking for? I want to invest in one that's big enough for a Papillon even as grown up since I won't be going on a flight before December. And the Pap will probably be roughly half a year by then. Since the litter I am waiting for is due to be born in May/June.
Thanks in advance for answers.

Advice needed!!
Hi all, my 10 year old papillon was attacked by a dog last Friday. He thankfully is recovering and doing amazing! Just had the drains removed & is acting a lot more like himself! My only issue is his fur - the vet had to shave a large amount & he just looks so silly. I haven’t been able to brush him very much so on the side he had been laying on for a few days has a few mats. I’m just wondering if anyone has had their pap shaved like this before & should I just let it grow back in or shave him so that it grows in together? He’s been in desperate need of a grooming & now even more, lol. I just want to make sure he’s comfortable 🩷

2024.04.10 15:25 Slide-Capable Does your Pap just want to run with sticks, chase butterflies and bugs and doesn't care about dogs or people?

Does your Pap just want to run with sticks, chase butterflies and bugs and doesn't care about dogs or people?
EDIT OF TITLE: Do your Paps really want to play with people and dogs and they don't know how because they are scared? But then again, maybe they really don't care?
A lot of people like me, have troubled dogs who came to us with "FEAR AGGRESSION". Romeo the Papillon has improved tremendously in 1 year. He now picks and chooses his prey - who he wants to viciously bark at - people and dogs. Like all of our Paps in this community, he is so loving, cuddly, smart, playful, funny, agile, animated and CRAZY! They are the best! I feel so sorry for dogs with issues! When outside, all Romeo wants to do is, believe it or not, is chase butterflies and bugs, run with a stick in his mouth and lie down on the grass and observe the world. Any better than that in life?
You are not a failure for not being able to train your dogs! It's a challenge for us, but we have to be aware of situations that may be dangerous for other people and for our dogs and we have to learn how to avoid them! People in this world are stupid and cruel when they look at our dogs with such hate when they are reacting! It's not the end of the world that our dogs have issues - it's nothing compared to me having had breast cancer or my husband finding out this week that he has tonsil cancer and a tumor close to his brain, or how about a child or animal that is ill? Don't worry about the reactions of ignorant people - if you had a child with issues, you would try to help them in anyway you are able.
Our dogs may or may not ever improve - and it's healthier for them not to be so frightened, but if they don't change - who cares. My husband and I will still be bringing our favorite buddy with us traveling abroad. We wouldn't have it any other way and neither would he!

2024.04.10 02:56 schrammra Concerned about my 6 month old puppy

I got my papillon at 12 weeks old, he is now 6 months old. I’ve had 3 paps prior to this one and all 3 were so friendly and sweet. My current pup however is really concerning me. He completed puppy class a few weeks ago and got along w both people and other puppies in the class just fine. Then 2 weeks ago I brought him in to the vet for a pre neuter exam and he FREAKED out while checking out. Barked the whole time I was waiting to pay at every person and animal that walked in or out. His puppy classes by the way were at the animal hospital where I take him to the vet, so he’s been going there every week, not a new place for him. Then today I took him outside to potty (always on a leash even though my yard is fenced because his recall is not good). My next door neighbor came out and waved and zesty went bonkers barking like crazy at him. My neighbor came over to the fence to say hi to him and Zesty escalated barking. I picked him up and My neighbor reached out to pet him and zesty peed all over me. Please help! What is going on? I have NEVER had a reactive papillon before and don’t know what to do. Side note, I’m waiting til a yr to neuter him and now wondering if him not being neutered is contributing to this issue

I’m really liking his size though, more fun to play with. Does anyone else have a larger pap? Just curious. BTW, the pic is him trying to get me to open the pantry door lol.

2024.03.28 03:24 Important_Ad_9459 Is purposely losing all their toys under the couch, coffee table, end table etc a papillon thing? I don’t recall our yorkies doing that, but my pap Remy puts stuff under everything just to watch me fish it out. Obviously the “fishing out” is on me lol.

2024.03.19 00:28 Wenduo2020 Question about teeth brushing techniques in

Hi again guys, I wonder this time do anyone got any good ideas how I can brush the teeth of a future pap? I struggle with that I mostly just use one hand and I struggle to use my fingers on my other hand. And I wonder would these teeth brush finger equipments be a good option then? Since I can't get a gripe on the papillons lips while I brush the dogs teeth with my other hand.
Or do anyone else have any good suggestions how I can keep the teeth clean on my future beloved pap even with the disadvantages of not having 2 good hands to use for this important task?

2024.03.13 13:47 jibegirl DAPP potential problems

Hello
My male pup (3/4 yorkie, 1/4 pap) was vaccinated with DAPP at 7 weeks old. At the time of the shot he weighed 0.8 kg. Soon became lethargic and in distress. He was non responsive (not wanting to get up or respond to breeder but barking as though he was in pain), dehydrated with a low temp when she took him in to vet. They gave him IV. By next morning he had recovered but testing showed no results as to what was wrong. They ran chest X-rays blood tests a check of his kidneys and liver and neurology tests; no answers anywhere. The only other reason we could think of was his vaccinations or possibly a slight concussion from a fall. He had not had a fall to breeder’s knowledge, but that was the vets only other guess.
So I’ve had the pup for 3 weeks, he is doing great. He is 14 weeks old. I’m concerned about him getting his second pup shots because I don’t want the above to happen again.
Any tips?

2024.03.01 14:00 FruitPunched2 Hesitant to get a new papillon after losing my senior...

I recently lost my little love. He was a senior (16). He was my little buddy and brought me so much joy for all those years. I miss him so much.
I have been thinking of getting another dog eventually. Papillons have always been my favorite breed.
I want another papillon but now I'm hesitant to get another and wondering if I should explore other breeds. I don't want to feel like I'm replacing my boy, since a new pap will likely look and act at least somewhat like him. I'm worried another pap will make me sad too because they'll be a constant reminder of the boy I lost.
For others who got another pappy after losing one...was it hard to get another, especially if they looked or acted similar to the one you lost?
Has anyone found another breed besides papillons that they really enjoy?

Looking for advice about what folks are feeding their paps?
I’ve had papillons for years but sadly, my beloved Lady crossed the rainbow bridge a few months ago. I have an addition to my family, Theo. He is 5 months old. The breeder has been feeding him Blue Buffalo puppy kibble but I’m wondering what other pap owners are doing to keep their best buddies as healthy as possible from the start. I was thinking of making my own but my vet didn’t recommend it stating that he could be missing important vitamins and minerals if I went that route but so many of the store brand foods seem to be loaded with ingredients I can’t even pronounce. All opinions appreciated and welcomed!

2024.02.07 14:23 sierraspelledciara How to move on?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask a question on how did those of you who eventually adopted after euthanizing their pets had the strength to adopt again?
I lost both of my dogs in the matter of a month and a half. I got my first dog, a papillon, Lucky, when I was 5. I was so excited to get my first dog and I loved him so much.
Then when I was around 7 or 8, I got my yorkie, Zoey, and I had an amazing bond with her. She followed me everywhere, I dressed her up in clothes and she loved it. Safe to say she was my best friend and I could never love anyone like I loved her. I loved both of my dogs, not to say I love more over the other.
Zoey had cancer and I knew we had to put her down eventually, she had a tumor and I knew I could do nothing about it but wait until I knew it was time. I had constant anxiety everyday, knowing she was sick but not knowing how much time I had left with her. Lucky however, seemed to be in perfect health at 16. However one day he vomited all of his food and began having seizures. Two days later, we euthanized him, which was fairly traumatic since he was fighting back during euthanasia.
We still had Zoey left, sick from cancer not knowing how much time she had left. A few weeks (4-5) went by and I could tell by the look on her face it was time to let her go. This was extremely painful too.
April makes a year Lucky’s been gone and May makes a year Zoey’s been gone. For those of you who have euthanized your dog/cat/pet, how did you move on and get another pet?
I tried to cope by getting a job at a doggy daycare and while it helps, it still doesn’t fill the void.
My heart wants another dog to fill that void, but I remember that someday, I’ll have to go through euthanasia with another dog. How did you move on? Everyone keeps encouraging me to get another dog.
