2024.05.21 21:54 Turgineer I have a suggestion for #FixTF2. [so the protest can continue as long as possible]

I started to see many posts on the subreddit, and this time, instead of calming down with a single tweet, TF2 players are advocating for the protest to continue until a major update comes to the game.
The problem is that if there is going to be a protest until an update actually arrives, it certainly wouldn't be simple:

Most of us have played TF2 every day for years and have played the game for hundreds or even thousands of hours in total.
It would be extremely difficult to maintain motivation in a boycott with no limits... but on the contrary... if the boycott has an end date, just like in Fallout 76 before, the producers will just wait for the boycott period to end and do nothing (except eating popcorn and looking at watches).
They know that the remaining players who have continued to play TF2 until today will never be able to abandon the game. THEY KNOW.
That's why TF2 players need a alternative instead of just sitting around and waiting. Of course, this can't be Overwatch 2 or Paladins.

A plan is needed, and even if I don't have a plan, I have an idea:

Playing Team Fortress 2 on Garry's MOD.

Well... Okay, this might be weird, but I think it's the best option we have for the long term.
Think about it, if this boycott doesn't last as short as #safeTF2, players will lose motivation as time goes by and return to playing TF2. Even in a good scenario where this boycott results in one major update, we will wait months.
These players should be given an alternative to distract themselves. Gmod is the best option, close to TF2 and not owned by Valve.
TF2's content producers will only make an announcement on May 26 and the real action will happen later. So there will be preparation time. Until the actual protest start date, TF2 content creators can support opening TF2 servers on Gmod. After all, there are many great Source mod makers out there.
If we play Gmod, Valve will start to be really worried about cosmetic sales as a result of the serious loss of players that TF2 will experience. Because the scary part for them is the possibility that TF2 players will get used to Gmod after a while and stay in there.
Maybe these Gmod servers to be established could be even more fun than TF2's current state.
I don't know if u/TF2SolarLight is on the #FixTF2 team, if this idea is already being discussed by the team I don't know but I think this idea is worth discussing.

A little bit of background about me, I'm a 26-year-old guy, currently homeless but I've been staying at a hotel with my family living paycheck to paycheck. Trust me when I say we've endured a lot worse, so we'll be okay.
I'm of average height (6'0") and I have the build of an NFL linebacker (weighing somewhere over 250) but my job requires a ton of heavy lifting, so it keeps me active.
I have 0 experience dating as an adult. I've only ever dated two girls when I was in highschool. My first girlfriend I was off and on with, the second girl I'm reluctant to even call a girlfriend because we only really held hands for a week before a nasty rumor went around and she dumped me after I brought it to her attention, thinking I was accusing her. In hindsight, my first ex was an S-Tier shit-talker, so I'm almost certain she had something to do with that, because we got right back together afterwards.
Both left me with a lot of phycological trauma. I've been rejected quite a lot throughout my teens. So when I actually managed to get my first girlfriend, despite the constant drama, I had convinced myself that she was the only human being on the planet that didn't find me revolting, so I kept going back to her. Thankfully, my friends talked some sense into me and I ended up breaking up with her for good.
I've tried putting myself out there when I entered my young adulthood. I was 20 or 21 the last time I tried to ask anyone out, a friend I've known since highschool and was pretty close to. So of course, my naive self honestly thought I had a chance with her, as I'm sure you can all guess, that one fell through, and thus ruined what I thought was a strong friendship.
I "swore off dating" (or trying) since then and for the next 5-6 years I was pretty content with working, playing video games with my friends and family, and even writing. But I'm at the age where it's natural to seek companionship.
I don't go out. People my age tend to frequent bars, house parties, or clubs to mingle. My friends do the same. I'm straight edge, meaning I don't smoke weed (anymore), do hard drugs, drink alcohol, nor am I willing to sleep around with random people. That said, I personally feel like I have no business trying to go to those places.
So I turned to dating apps, which leads me to the point of this post. My experience thus far has been...overwhelming. The list of wild expectations, the demand that I be a flawless human being, and the constant dry/disinterested texts (on rare occasion I do get a match) has me thinking that I was better off not pursuing at all.
A female friend once suggested that perhaps I'm just not cut out for this and I'm starting to think that she was right. Maybe I'm just too scary-looking, weird, fat, poor, or boring for the women of my generation. Whatever the reason may be.
Be honest with me, folks, do I really have any business trying to meet women?
P.S. - Before anyone asks, I did NOT put the stuff I mentioned at the very beginning in my dating app bio. I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. 🤣

So i recently got into self hosting and all that, i have managed to do lots and learned lots, now i have a problem. So when i first started using nextcloud it was wierd i didnt use docker compose i only used docker, everything was a mess i didnt figure out how to do stuff. After a while i got everything working started with docker compose and others. i managed to host seafile, filebrowser, nextcloud, ownfile and probaly another. Everything works im using ubuntu server on a proxmox vm. though i have this one issue which is not game breaking its just very limiting. the reason i switch and tried so many hosting services was because i didnt manage to get over one problem even though how hard i look and i think it might be a problem on my network part. So when i upload and download for that matter on local ip its about as fast as i want it but i could be faster, though i think this is because of my internett speed 300 mbps or my usb 3.0 externall ssd. upload is about 450 mpbs i though download was always higher but i guess not, my router is connected via 10 gpbs fiber connection though it might actully be connected using wifi to thje fiber in some sort of way im not completely sure.
it download and uploads at about 30 mb/s which is ok and i can work with, though when i port forward and use a reverse proxy like nginx proxy manager web ui, i get like 10 mb/s which is not good considiring im planning on uploading files as big as 50 GB or more, download is even slower, im using a seagate external ssd with usb 3.0 i am using ethernet though it is connect to a wifi extender. this is mighty annoying and i have tuckeld with chunk size and its not helping. i tried to only port forward and not use proxy, same slow downlaod and upload i have a domain and everything. the pc im uplaodin and dowlnoad from has fast enough internett. it seems like the only time where speed is decreased is when i port forward local network is just fine. On my router i changed dns and i feel like i have done everything i can execpt for isp provider talk which i am not keen on doing. im using postgres, and it seems like every service once forwarded get limited to 10 mb/s though it slowly climbs up, takes a good 7 to 15 sec

A lot brought the two together, I know. Chilli likely played a bit of a covert matchmaker by double-booking the babysitters right after Bosco and Frisky split. Playing games with the girls and their mutual love for the kids made them closer. Rad learning about Frisky being burned romantically while acting out the story helped guide his approach. But for me, the clincher was Nana watching something scary the last time she babysat and convincing Bluey to ask her babysitters to not turn on the tv. That gave Frisky and Radley time to connect, talk, learn about each other, debate the benefits of almond-milk shampoo and conditioner, etc. It put them in a place to connect with one another where they might otherwise not have done so. Anyone agree or disagree? Any other theories about how a small action by a character in one episode has huge consequences later in the series?

My kids asked the other day about whether there were cards in Japan & Korea and if we could get some of the players they like (Darvish and Ha Seong Kim specifically since they are Padres fans). Had a very helpful guy on another sub explain how to use the Buyee proxy service and just ordered some lots of Darvish, Yamamoto, Imanaga and another lot that include some other lesser players including Yuki Matsui (I'm staying out of the Shohei game for now, the prices are absurd!). Just want to see how this works before searching for more interesting stuff.
Wondering if anyone else collects this kind of stuff and if there are similar sites in Korea to find KBO cards.
Got all of the stuff in the photos for about $50 total. They combine and ship together.

I'm just wrapping up a maze world and it has been a lot of fun. I'm thinking of doing it again but wanting to do something other than vanilla trains for the logistic system. I don't want to use bots because I don't want them to fly over the void areas. And Spidertrons are too late game. I'm looking through all the various vehicle mods, but I don't see any that would allow me to set up a logistics type system. Any suggestions?

I just did (using a save state like 200 times) and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I think I actually liked it. The difficulty is hard to explain. It's not really a super difficult game but it is difficult?
I think what makes it hard is not really knowing when the next enemy will come at you and how it will. There are a good amount of enemies which I liked but some just didn't seem to want to get hit. The flying orby bot things would always seem to go lower when you went lower to line up a shot.
I don't know if I'd go back and try it without the saving states. There seemed to hardly be any checkpoints for levels that seemed to never end.
Losing your green balls of swamp junk everytime you get to another stage/end boss was annoying. The controls didn't seem as responsive as they could have been, especially the jumps off falling objects. Having to get a jumping start in order to run was weird but I got used to it.
Yeah, I just don't really know. I'm going to say I liked it but it was frustrating. Level 3 seemed to never end but on the other side I kinda liked that it kept going on and was a bit of a maze. I liked that it wasn't just a horizontal side scroller but also a vertical one.
I had to look up a playthrough twice to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do and one of them basically were speed running it and my mind was kinda blown. I guess when you learn all the enemies and the levels, know what to expect around the corner, the difficult probably drops quite a bit.

I've recently become a Pathfinder for Mantic Games, and while I've been focused on Deadzone and Firefight, I'd like to look towards kings of war next as another game to be able to demo.
Personally, I think I'd be most keen on the Nightstalker faction. Because scary demons, and the sci-fi port soon is extra nice.
I'd consider vampires, or potentially nature as well.
Are any of these good opponents to show off? Or demo with?
Any special rules that really should be avoided in demo games for these factions? I'm probably going to take one into a full army.

2024.05.21 20:14 Los_cronocrimenes Finally tried it, and dissapointed with the game

I had high hopes, but was incredibly dissapointed with Signalis. Some of my biggest gripes:
-Uninspiring level design (very repetitive)
-Unresponsive gameplay (gunplay is awful)
-Movement and opening doors seem bugged as hell. Had to try 3 times for most doors/ladders
-Forced limited inventory without designing the game around this mechanic. Too much puzzle items, too many guns for its runtime (so too many types of ammo you would encounter), the game quickly became a drag running back and forth to a box too often. 1 single segment and i would use an item box more times than in my first RE1 run.
-Where is the horror? This game had 0 scary parts in it. Even the action packed resident evils are scarier than this.
Story frustrated me. I was intrigued, and i could respect it for trying something different but thought it fell flat. Like it was purposefully vague and cryptic to try and cover up a thin story. The fact i tried looking to fill in the gaps online and came across very different interpretations only furthered my suspicions. Seems like a very i coherent story with some nice ideas here and there.
Things i liked: -Very cool visual style -Respected trying some things w the enemy variety like the radio guy and the shields. Didn't think they were succesful but still cool for 2 man team. -Some of the Puzzles were nice.
Definitely expected more. Will prob try a survival difficulty run soon, maybe it will change my mind.

I was thinking mandiblasters (plastic head from kill team scorps) and the exarch sword to count as star glaive with a fusion gun from the old weapons sprue (possibly with shoulder strap, I haven't decided yet).
You think it would fly as a proxy? I mean it will be declared as a star glaive when gaming, I just really don't want to give him a Pole arm.

Hello!
I've been searching for this game on and off for about 4 years now. It randomly pops into my mind, only proving what an impact it had on child me. It was definitely on a random online game site, like Friv (I've searched Friv, but no results), I played it when I was much younger, maybe in 2014...? Around that time. Here's what I distinctly remember:
It was an arrow maneuvered game from a bird's-eye view with simple graphics, but not the pixel style. You would play as this guy who was in either a dungeon or a dark castle and your goal was to get out(?). You had to avoid traps, for example, falling in a cauldron filled with some green liquid. There was this dark and eerie music in the background which would always creep me out. It wasn't a scary game, but I remember always being tense when playing it.
I want to revisit it again, so if the description seems familiar, please help.

I am extremely extra, I am eccentric, I love alternative styles, I love arts in all its forms, I am extremely sentimental, I can be considered strange to many, I talk too much, I seem extroverted around introverts and I seem introverted around other extroverts, I get tired easily in social situations, so I always prefer to talk more via cell phone or computer. I'm very extreme and I can end up feeling very angry, very happy or very sad out of nowhere, I usually try to be kind but I can be rude or insensitive if I'm very angry, I'm a person who really likes to fight for causes aimed at minorities since I'm from several minority groups, I hate injustice, I'm very stubborn and I don't like being contradicted while I always try to be someone who takes various arguments into account.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
— I'm autistic, adhd, i have gad (generalized anxiety disorder) and i might also have depression.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
— I grew up in a Christian family, which hurt me a lot when I got older since my family's religion is against my existence as a queer person, and it took them a long time to admit that I needed psychological help and things like that. It's difficult to leave my roots but in the end I ended up stopping believing in my parents' religion after everything I went through.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
— I'm studying animation design at college, it's one of my passions and I really enjoy learning about the topics, I just hate the structure of taking exams and tests.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
— I would feel crazy, insane. I need the company of some people close to me to regulate myself and talk about things I like, being alone makes me feel empty and strange. So yeah i would feel lonely.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
— I'm terrible at sports and I hate them, my motor coordination is horrible. I prefer indoor activities because there is less chance of me overloading myself with something (example: feeling unwell because of the sun, heat, etc.)
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
— I'm very curious, I love discovering new things, I have a lot of ideas at terrible times (in the middle of the night) and I really end up getting disorganized with the amount of things I think about. My ideas and curiosity are generally focused on creative processes like creating characters, universes, stories, but it can also simply be focused on a topic of interest to me (hyperfocuses / special interests). These are things that end up being more of a concept because I'm terrible at executing my ideas.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
— I don't like being the leader of projects and things like that for the simple fact that I'm not good at handling responsibilities, so I prefer to just execute some order, my problem is that I also really like doing things MY way so it's a bit contradictory. However, in the moments when I have had to be a leader (I was forced to since my colleagues didn't want to do anything) I haven't been a bad leader, I research the project topics and let people choose their topics to present.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
— I'm not good at being organized or at things that involve motor coordination. For example, it took me decades to be able to tie my shoe laces, know which direction is right or left and I keep forgetting important dates. I don't like using my hands to do activities because they shake a lot and so I'm always horrible at things that involve using my hands. The only things I think I'm good at are playing games and drawing, and even then, drawing is an extreme challenge since I always put a lot of pressure on the pencil when I'm drawing or writing.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
— Yes, art is something that I have loved since I was young because of the fact that I can express my creativity, ideas and feelings. I've always been passionate about cartoons so my drawing style is very cartoony. I really like seeing fanart from media that I love, but I also love seeing old paintings, especially from Roman and Greek times. I not only like drawing and painting, but I also love art in general. I love cinema, theater, books, sculptures, etc. One day I want to know how to write very well and be able to make books or even draw well enough to be able to make a cartoon. I want to be able to share the comfort I experience by seeing art that makes me feel happy and represented by doing something that also makes people happy through my art.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
— I have some regrets from the past, but in general I was more "normal" and happy back then, I wouldn't change anything because I follow the idea that my mistakes and successes made me who I am today. As for my present, I try to make the most of it but I'm not going to lie that I'm not a big fan of my current state, I feel a bit useless and very behind compared to most people I know my age so I end up preferring to think more about the future and how things will get better later. At the same time that I really appreciate some current moments of my present, like being able to play with my girlfriend most days, this makes me very happy.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
— I like helping people, sometimes I even try to help people who didn't ask for my help if they are people I really like (I may end up being seen as inconvenient because of this). I always want to be able to help everyone, but currently because of my mood I may end up not being very helpful as my mental health is not the best, even so, I always try to be very patient and friendly with people who are going through difficult times, even when sometimes I just want to be left alone and I'm not in the mood to help anyone, especially because I know what it's like to be in a bad place and i don't want people to feel rejected.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
— I'm very sentimental and I often don't think very logically BUT in arguments and other serious situations I need people to use logic and proven arguments just like i do in those situations so that the debate or serious situation isn't just a bunch of nonsense. I am a sentimental person, but to develop some thought, I need logical arguments
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
— In general, I think it's very important, but I personally can't be productive and efficient since I have a lot of executive dysfunction. I KNOW it's important but I can't be like that.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
— I like things to be my way but I don't really think I control people? I always impose my opinions a lot but I don't really control people.
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
— I like games, reading books, role-playing, drawing and even trying to write books. I really like fantasy things. It seems more fun than my reality and I like to distract myself from real life things.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
— I like learning things when they involve what I like or at least are more interactive and I hate math, chemistry and physics btw. I have a lot of difficulty with classes in subjects that require a lot of memorization, I prefer things that are relative and interpretative like arts and literature and I really like classes that involve creativity. I also hate classes where the teacher just talks and talks and talks and doesn't do anything interactive and fun. I generally prefer to study at home for very short periods of time because I learn easier alone and study very briefly because I have difficulty studying for long periods of time.
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
— I'm terrible at planning things, I usually do things at the last minute and I improvise a lot.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
— I think I get a lot of inspiration from artists I like, such as Rebecca Sugar, Tyler Joseph and others. They are very creative people who do things that I really like (I love Steven Universe, which Rebecca Sugar created, and I love Twenty One Pilots, which is the band where Tyler Joseph is the lead singer).
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
— My biggest fears are being alone, because it's scary not having anyone who understands you and who supports you and loves you, and being a burden to the people I love, because I don't want to be an extremely dependent and useless person and disappoint the people I love.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
— These are the days when I feel excited to do things and I can be productive doing everything I need in my routine as well as doing my hobbies and being able to relax.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
— These are the days when I feel sad, empty and discouraged, I can't do my routine tasks and I force myself to do them anyway in an extremely bad mood, my hobbies may even distract me on those days but it will be a strange feeling as if I'm not really excited to do what I like and I'm just distracting myself from my problems.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
— Ah, I don't have much attachment to reality and I prefer fantasy things, I constantly get caught up in my own thoughts and I prefer to create happy fantasy situations so I don't deal with my real problems. I'm also pretty distracted in general so regardless of whether I'm fantasizing or not I end up missing a lot of details and dissociating
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
— I would probably try to distract myself by thinking about things I like or talking to myself, depending on if the day was bad I would eventually end up thinking a lot about my personal problems and becoming depressed.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
— I'm very slow and indecisive when it comes to choosing things, I always want to gather as much information about each option in my mind or by researching on the internet about it and then I always end up between multiple options and changing my mind several times until I arrive at a concrete result.
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
— Some of my emotions may be processed much later than they should have been processed or simply be different from what people usually have. For example, I'm not very good at dealing with grief and I end up not showing the sadness that my other relatives do, but generally I feel my emotions in a very extreme and volatile way. I feel happy for very silly things and when I'm happy I'm VERY HAPPY and I get sad very easily and when I get sad I get VERY SAD.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
— Yes. I really like demonstrating my opinions and being authentic, it's a very important thing for me, but even so, I sometimes end up just remaining silent or agreeing with something that I don't really agree with because I'm too afraid of being hated and I generally want everyone to like me, even people I'm not very close to. However, I can also be a person with very strong opinions and be very stubborn about what I believe in if it is something linked to social issues or linked to things that I REALLY like.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
— I break rules that I believe don't make sense, if it's something that I think makes sense I'll follow that rule, but if it's stupid and I don't understand why I have to follow it I'll probably break the rule. I've also never been a person who understands authorities, for me anyone has the right to question something if it's not a useful or logical rule. I agree that rules are important but that they can be adapted, eliminated and added if necessary for people.

I am looking for someone fun (age 25 min) to be friends and eventually grow close to over time. Someone who I can spend a lot of time with doing the following things on a daily basis:
-spam games (PC only): league (arams (big plus if you aram!)/tft/norms), destiny 2, last epoch, crab champions, pico park, fall guys, gunfire reborn, risk of rain 2, super animal royale, golf with friends, terraria, escape simulator, it takes two, minecraft, diablo 3, etc (happy to play other games if they seem fun). - Please, please play league and destiny 2 and carry me <3
-chill on discord when bored (we can do our own things - its completely fine or we can stream games for eachother). At the end of the day, we can wind down together until we go to sleep. If you have a nice voice, that's a huge plus!
-watch anime/movies/youtube videos/tv shows (I'll watch anything but horror - no scary pls lol)
-share/listen to music (ideally, we'd play some music as background while gaming. we could also share/trade music - i like doing this too) My taste in music: 80s, 90s, rock, alternative, pop, dance, electro, mix of everything else. Music I don't prefer: jazz, blues, most rap, most country.
-If you WFH (like myself) it would be great if we could keep each other company during the work days.
-winding down the nights together before we go to sleep and being a safe space for each other is super important to me.

Hi! So when I was a kid, my dad used to play this game that was military themed, I’m pretty sure there were like 3 soldiers and you play as either one or all theee (can’t remember). All I remember was that when you need to reload, the game said “RELOAD RELOAD” and my dad remembers you use space bar to reload. He also remembers that the setting was kinda maze-like.
