I adore the fallout franchise and want to get the full grasp on what the story of New Vegas and 3 are but since I'm own Playstation I can't use DLC and I really want to. A little bit about me, I’m your usual 27 year old small town guy who just lacks a little romance in my otherwise perfect life right now. You know, the last 3 years were Good and Bad. They had their really good moments, and really bad moment. Yet, the end was all the same. So what does it honestly matter? She left me, not me leaving her. SHe burned me, and my family with absolutely no remorse. So I am thinking she actually was honest about using me when she walked out. Kinda cheap, because there was really not much to use me for. I mean, I was not having sex with her or anyone. I have very little money, so the most she got from me was food. I fixed her truck a few times, which was never really a lot of money maybe around 500 or 600 bucks over a 3 year period. Other than just hanging out, there was not much to use.
On the other hand I did not use her, I wanted her help, I wanted her by myside. I wanted her next to me as much as possible, because she made me feel 100% complete even when we were fighting. I Needed her. I did not need her to clean my shop, she did at times. I did not need her to do anything for me. Other than just being by my side. I fell in love with someone, who obviously does not know how to love, yet mistakenly taught me how to love.
Oddly as that is, she did teach me how to love. I mean, when I met her I was a drinking, smoking, woman using, pussy chasing weakling. I cheated on her, I lied to her, I done a ton of shit, that she did not deserve (even if she was using me). She got me to see my fucked up ways. Funny thing is, when I started fixing things, she never believed me. She would accuse me, without proof, only going on a feeling. The last 1 and a half I haven't cheated. Even with her gone, I still have not gone out to find a replacement. There is no replacement for her. Anyways, as I was saying I quit all sexual actions, sex, porn, masterbation, etc. Anything that would possibly compromise my growth. (even stopped having sex with her). Alien x Superhero This is meant to be sort of Avenger-ish with aliens not being liked on Earth. I was thinking maybe your character is one of the heroes against the whole aliens being on the Earth. There’s a march being rumored to happen where aliens wanting to gain citizenship and demand the end of their races being killed. What your character doesn’t know is that his beloved girlfriend is an alien (my character). She’s a shapeshifter type that’s been sneaking out of the house lately for meetings concerning the march.
Rivals I have a few ideas for this one. One resolving around two college aged adults going to the same college, their parents are mafia rivals. Slowly they fall for each other before finding out who they really are, or even an arranged sort of marriage that ties both families together and ends the rivalry... just for a little while.
Arranged Marriage: Looking for a more modern to almost futuristic kind of setting. Our characters being forced to marry each other due to a war ending or some other sort of treaty. I would be more than happy to also have some fantasy elements in this.
The Selection: Basically a slightly futuristic twist on the BacheloBachelorette. One prince or princess comes of age and must go through an event called The Selection where they must find love from a specific amount of contestants.
Royal Mistake: a prince from another country comes to America for school under a disguise and fake name, and falls for a regular American commoner.. It calls for big scandals if anyone finds out who the noble in disguise really is.

As we get older, we lose our physical abilities and gain mental ones. The wisdom of age, represented by the long-bearded wizard of fantasy, or the long-branched trees of romanticism, is something that is earned. Years go by, craft is honed, and abilities are increased to the level where a student becomes a teacher. This doesn’t happen when you are old and begin a fresh new skill as a student.
We see this all the time: an old person enters retirement, finally gets the free time to practice art, has been a consumer for years, and they think they can do the same as what they've indulged in. Or how about the young person who was raised by the internet, read all the articles they could on art, became an authortuber, and used their following to justify why they should release a book? We can say these are connected, but they aren’t the same thing as seeing results. I could be a reviewer for 100 years, but never know how the art is made because all I would do is see the final product, and I would not have any craft under my belt. Channel Awesome is a perfect example of why reviewers don’t make the best artists.
They don’t have any craft, meaning they don’t have any skills, even if they studied what others do.
An artist must hone their craft, meaning they NEED to seek an advancement. An objective goal must be placed in front of them in order to advance from one point to another, or else the advancement is imaginary and nonsensical. The people who say “art is subjective” are all telling people to never hone their craft and never appeal to the rules of the receiver. Art is a social interaction, between multiple humans, attached at an unconscious level, understood at a subconscious level, and appreciated at a conscious level. We do not acquire any of this if it’s unattached at the unconscious level first, which is the objective human level, fueled and restricted by our biology.
Craft is the trial and error performed to understand this biology further, both of the audience and of your own.
For many artists, or people who want to engage in media, the main goal is fueling their narcissism. This aspect of the dark triad is a way to ignore craft and demand results for simply existing, which becomes the main catalyst for subjective focus in how art is attributed. When combined with narcissism, the statement “art is subjective” can easily be translated to its real form: art is what I tell you it is, and you better fucking obey. The crying, the feet stomping, the thought of giving up when they don’t get popular, the interloping among famous people, all of this is part of narcissism. The abundance of this is why you will hear people say “fake it until you make it” and treat this as normal.
You don’t need to fake it, you simply need to make it. Your craft is a muscle, muscles need to be flexed to become stronger. After a while, doing things properly becomes muscle memory. Like the martial artist who practices the same move over and over again, their diligence allows them to master that single move, to move onto the next one. And like a martial artist, they must start with the most simple of moves before they go to more advanced techniques, ensuring each movement of their body is done properly.
Fake artists are blind to this process, never seeing the work done and duped on how the process goes. We always see people saying “I’m starting a 700 page fiction novel” when they never wrote a fictional word in their life. How hard could it be? They’ve been a consumer of fiction for years! Well, I’ve been a fan of Jackie Chan since I was a kid, but I’m pretty sure I can’t do his stunts at this moment.
I do not have the muscles, nor the muscle memory, to do what Jackie Chan does in his movies, no matter how many of his movies I watch.
People will see this as pessimistic, but it is simply realistic. You have to know what you’re doing, which is caused by practice and exposure. You have to stick your neck out and start at the VERY beginning. Learn what a sentence is, learn what a single line of code is, learn what basic shapes make a drawing. I focus on short stories and flash fiction because this is the first stage of storytelling.
Master the first stage, work as hard as you can on it; and this understanding, through repetition, will cause ownership. Not of products, but of your own muse, becoming your own influence when you start making art. No longer will you say “I’m not in the mood to write” because now the muse is your loyal servant, obediently working whenever you tell it to. The chaos of emotional influence is now replaced with the muscle memory of biological order, with you in control of this order. Being in control, being in power, is the most important step to becoming a cultural force.
So many artists refuse to commit to these primary steps, hoping to cut corners, desperate for fame or fortune. Meanwhile, the fame doesn’t matter, the money sucks, and the time spent could be used for something far more beneficial. This distraction is further fueled by the fact that industries rely on fake teachers(and even fake students) to create a cycle of justifying why this is normalized. There is a reason why economic teachers do not run the economy and they are usually the first people to suffer with money woes. Same goes for creative writing teachers who don’t seem to have anything under their belt.
Owning your muse will allow you to understand what properties are worth buying, both for your own consumption and for your asset pool. Indie is always complaining that they don’t get any reception or attention, despite always becoming a circle jerk of attention between indie artists. I know several people who are trying to start short story magazines and they have no idea what short stories to buy or how to edit them, with their “editors in chief” buying whatever they can in hopes it turns into a history of "just getting by". As they go on, they keep buying one flop after another, gain zero power, give up all their power, and give up from attrition.
This is a self induced failure caused by what can be called people’s war, a tactic started by Maoists during WW2 in order to change the battlefield to a war of attrition. A battle is not a challenge if the soldiers do not fight, with the attack on resources and morale causing fighters to drop their weapons and surrender. People’s war is where a battle is moved far away from the enemy’s supply lines, to then have the local population engage in guerrilla warfare; causing the official army to be outnumbered, constantly sabotaged, and feel like the fight is not worth it. This tactic is what caused North Vietnam to win the Vietnam War against a superpower like the US, despite the US using ridiculous weaponry like napalm and agent orange. It doesn’t matter how powerful your army is when the army doesn’t want to fight, and it's even worse when the more powerful army is superior in both ability and morale than you.
Hence the failure of indie and the expansion of mainstream.
Age brings wisdom from doing things and learning, not from simply being old. The years you live must be seeded to be sowed, with late seeds being sowed late. And to sow, you must practice the act of sowing properly until it becomes second nature. Good farmers eat aplenty, bad farmers starve everyone around them. We learned this lesson when the Soviets rid their markets of good farmers, causing famine soon after.
Ownership is a responsibility, with the property able to be taken away if not used wisely. Rotten if neglected. Own your muse, own assets, avoid liabilities, profit from actions, embrace your strengths, reduce your weaknesses. Ignore the people telling you to sacrifice yourself for the greater good and ignore the call to narcissism. Think, plan, try, learn, then move forward. Your goal must be objective, so solidify it as soon as possible. It is work, but it is worth it when you advance instead of falling to attrition.

Hello everyone! Today id like to talk about an idea thats been floating in my head for the past few weeks, with the intent to produce meaningful discussion. I know this isnt your average meme post or anything like that, and it will be pretty long, but hear me out, alright? I appreciate your patience and time, and i would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, and general feedback in the comments.
Anyway, Jack Bulwark... Oh boy. He is definetely one of the most divisive heroes in the roster. Some people will tell you that hes really overpowered because of his high damage and unbreakable moves, while others will say hes borderline unusable because of his slow, punishable moves and short range. He is a very extreme design, and in this post id like to propose a rework that can solve this, and make him more fun to play and to play against, and hopefully fix some of the problems with his design. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion, so feel free to disagree.
With that being said, the first thing we have to understand about Bulwark is something that isnt necessarily tied to him. Its a concept that ive talked about before, but id like to reiterate. I call it the "Balance Trifecta". (Im not entirely sold on the name, so if you can think of a better one, id love to hear it!).
Anyway, the point is that characters in this game have strengths that can be divided into 3 main categories:
High stats (like damage and health), strong moveset (stuff like long range, fast moves, combos, safe attacks, etc.), and strong mechanics (abilities in the base kit and talents.)
Usually a balanced, well designed character has two out of the three. Going back to Bulwark, we see that he has high stats, since his base damage is pretty decent, and his health is high, but his moveset is one of the worst in the game, with slow, short ranged attacks that have high endlag and are unsafe on block, and all that.
However, Bulwark´s extreme design comes from his mechanics. I firmly believe that, in a vacuum, Bulwark has the strongest mechanics in the game. Shadow Fortress giving him invincibility that can be manually activated with Incredible Endurance and Assault Fortress, and is boosted by his epic weapon is very strong, and i would say that Fractures are by far the strongest mechanic in this game.
The ability to reduce the opponents defense by landing hits (even blocked ones count), and making them persist between rounds is incredibly powerful. This makes Bulwark overly reliant on them. You cant buff him to be a good standalone character, because then hes just a top tier with fractures on top of that, but if you make him weak, he feels awful.
The goal of this rework is to reduce the power of these mechanics, toning them down a bit in exchange for other buffs that will help him feel more fun to play, and more fair to fight against. With all that being said, lets begin!
First of all, some base stat changes:
Bulwark´s physical attack stat will be buffed by 25% (a huge buff, but comes with a hefty cost.)
The effectiveness of Fractures is reduced by 50% (they reduce the opponents defense by half as much as before. This means that despite the 25% physical damage buff, his damage output will stay the same, but his shadow damage is nerfed. It also means he relies less on fractures to deal good damage.)
Fractures no longer persist between rounds. (Every character that has an ability that persists between rounds has to win the round for it to work. Bulwark is the only character that can lose the round and still get lasting value, which i think is pretty cheesy and shouldnt be a thing.)
The damage boost from Aggression is reduced from 30% to 25%. (Just a small change to make Superior Protection more viable)
Heated Gun now has a synergy with Great Reaction, where if you pick the two talents together, Bulwark will protect himself with Shadow Fortress while he shoots the gun, like the boss Bulwark in chapter 4 of story mode.
Bulwark´s shadow energy gain from landing hits (both blocked and successful) and from blocking hits is increased by 50%. (note that we are not buffing the amount of shadow energy he gets for being hit, since i believe that characters shouldnt be rewarded for getting hit as much as when hitting the opponent.)
Assault Fortress is added to Bulwark´s base kit. (This paired with the shadow gain buff allows him to use his shadow form more often, and use his Shadow Fortress to turn the tables against heroes who like to bypass his unbreakable state with critical hits.)
Fortress of the Legion will be removed. (As satisfying as it is to successfully use it, its too inconsistent against good players, and most of the time doesnt get any value, so ill replace it with a new, more consistent talent.)
Two new tier 5 talents: (Since Assault Fortress is part of his base kit.)

1. Unstoppable Force: When Bulwark takes damage while Unbreakable, his attack deals 25% more damage. (Similar to Unbreakable Monarch, from the King of the Legion. I figured this ability would suit Bulwark way more.)
2. Immovable Wall: When Bulwark´s shadow form ends, his Shadow Fortress remains active for another 4 seconds. (Kind of like Marcus´s second epic weapon, but for Shadow Fortress. This allows him to effectively extend the duration of his Assault Fortress.)

With all these changes, Bulwark now relies a lot less on Fractures, and the Fractures as a whole have been toned down. They´ll still be a strong ability, but no longer what you pick the character for, You wont just be able to spam hits on your opponents block to get value as Bulwark, youre going to have to earn it. This means that the Fortress build will actually be usable, since right now Bulwark relies so heavily on the Fractures, that he cant do much without them.
In exchange for this, i decided to give him Assasult Fortress in his base kit, and also make him gain way more shadow energy as a fun way to address another one of his problems, which is critical hits. Now, this doesnt mean he doesnt get countered by them anymore, but a skilled Bulwark player will be able to use this Shadow form to counter those counters, which adds more skill to the character. However, his shadow abilities are now much weaker to compensate, since they didnt recieve a damage buff to compensate for the Fracture nerf.
All in all, this makes Bulwark feel like a more complete character that doesnt overly rely on one broken mechanic or on being a support for his teammates, and can stand up on his own, and i think thats cool. All his weaknesses like being slow, having short range, punishable moves, and all that are still there, but now he has some fun new tools to work with.

I’m trying to solidify the basic idea I have for my player character senile human wizard build. I am not sure what level we would start at, so my goal was having something that could work from level one.
I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts on ideas about the background concept or ways to incorporate some specific mechanics I’ve thought up.
The basic concept is that my character was traumatized from a large scale conflict that happened in the past of the game world. He went into hiding and is trying to live a life away from conflict, so he hasn’t used his practical magic for so long that it he would be considered a level 1 wizard at this point, but his connection to the arcane remains and still extends his life far beyond typical human lifespan. My initial thought is that he is like the senile old hermit that lives outside of town that people only go to when they have weird historical or magical problems and they have no one else to go to for guidance.
He is old enough that, in theory, he has an abundance of potentially useful historical knowledge that could be helpful. However, to avoid confronting his trauma, he magically made himself senile, so he isn’t nearly as helpful.
The fun mechanic I have in mind is that when he is concentrating on a spell the senility lifts. However, with that clarity comes his ptsd. So my thought is that there are benefits and drawbacks when he is concentrating and his head is clear.
The benefit could be something like a reasonable increase to spell attack damage (not sure what makes sense, a fixed increase or something like my proficiency bonus or int modifier), and the drawbacks could be determined by periodic ptsd rolls. I would love ideas for what these consequences could be. My initial thoughts are it could range from less severe effects being things like a -1 to spell attack rolls and more severe effects being his concentration breaking.
Once his concentration is broken, however that happens, senility would return and the negative ptsd effects wear off.
One last thing I am trying to choose is what wizard subclass would be fun and appropriate for this character. My initial thought is either abjuration or bladesinger since both allow him to be in the thick of the action like he may have been in the past war. Abjuration made sense because he is someone who is magically putting up defenses against his own mind to shield himself from his trauma. Bladesinger made sense because that fits with the former soldier aesthetic.
As a final note, I chose human and those two subclasses came to mind because I am considering having him dual wielding a staff and longsword, and having a level 1 feat would make that doable from the start.

For the plot I thought of a scenario where you play as an Agent or Bounty Hunter for the Rebellion in the year of 10 BBY. I already prepared a starter:
An officer of the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service enters the room where [your character] is seated. He has a datapad in hand and sits down and starts speaking.
"Greetings. I'm very glad to welcome you here today. That you accepted this task is an act of great courage from you. We have at hands a target of high priority for us but also the empire. A powerful tool for every side but also a danger for both. As you may remember the Eleventh Sister went missing about five years ago. The Inquisitor has proven as a very capable tool to the Empire before and thus they put out a bounty of 95 million credits for anyone bringing her in dead or alive. But for us she is of even greater worth. We recently could locate her on Nar Shadda. There she seems to be staying at a space port most of the time when she is not going after any bounty. Like we know now she is still alive and since she didn't return to the Empire it seems that she has a grudge against them. Maybe she turns out to be an enemy of the Empire and if that is the case she could prove as a capable asset in our fight against the empire. As such, it will be your task to infiltrate her actions. We need to know her motives and motivation as well as her stance towards the rebellion and other anti-imperial groups. If she should show as supporting of anti-imperial sentiments it will be your task to slowly nudge her to become an ally or affiliate of ours. This will take some time so don't think you can easily go in and out. This task will require high precision and awareness. Remember that Inquisitors are capable users of the force and if our information is correct they can easily identify lies and deception with the force. If you simply reveal your goal and that you received this mission from us she will like slaughter you immediately. You really need to go undercover for this one even if it might be uncomfortable in certain situations. You will now have time to ask questions and then you will, for a final time, have the chance to reject the mission. After that there is no turning back. So, do you have any more questions?"
