2024.05.19 13:11 Zealousideal-Prune66 Crashes everytime I try to load save, how can I fix this?

This usually happens but I usually get past it by using my manual save option but this time all my autosaves and manual saves crashes when I try to load it in. I have made the stupid mistake of making one manual save of this world even tho I knew this happens. It might have to do this is a cracked version of the game I downloaded but I would like to try get my world back since I have around 130 hours in it :')

2024.05.19 06:29 JustEstablishment594 Your thoughts on these part suggestions for upgrading a 10+ year old pc?

I've inherited my brother in laws old pc he built. It's actually a pretty good start but it's old af. Does have GeForce 900 series I think. I asked the store what parts I should get and this was his suggestion.
I'm pretty sure this is a mid build which is fine, but if I wanted to go bit higher end in terms of graphics what should I be looking for? Or is this fine? Games I play are Anno 1800, RS3, KCD and some star wars games currently, but will aim to be playing Hogwarts Legacy on it.
Price is in NZD btw.
Also, I've just started a job as a junior family barrister, so budget can prob be 2-2.5k at a push, but I'd rather spend less than 2k currently.

2024.05.18 18:08 a2jeeper GE stove is not getting gas

I have a GE monogram electric oven gas stove. The stove is not getting any gas. All four ignighters click, which seems weird when just trying to start one burner but maybe normal? But definitely no gas. There is gas at the supply. All disconnects are on. So something after the shut off inside the back is telling it to not allow gas.
We had some really weird weather and power outages that I believe caused this, it has been working for 10 years. Oven, lights, timer, ignitors, etc all work fine just no gas at the burners.
The temp sensor on the hot side behind the oven is fine as well, and the sail seems to be fine.
What other electronics could have blown to cause a no gas issue? I will tear it apart this weekend but not sure where to start. Regulator if pressure is fine up to it (it is)? Some sort of electrical disconnect? I am slightly annoyed because this stove I expected to work during a power outage with a manual light and there doesn’t seem to be a lot in the way of the gas supply but obviously something is not happy.

New Asus Rog Strix G16. Cores going to 100c, MyAsus not woring
**UPDATE** I lowered the CPU power from 80w to 75w. I also disabled the CPU boost. That seems to help a lot. Going to look for a cooling pad and setup profiles for easily switching settings if I need more juice. Thanks for the comments and tips.
**End Update**
I just got this laptop and recently some of the cores, always the same ones, keep popping up to 100c. I tried selecting different modes such as Silent or Power Balanced (Windows) to limit the juice they get but the temps stay high.
Also, MyAsus stopped working the other day. I was able to use it, now I cant. No idea why.
I haven't had a laptop in a long time. I recently upgraded from an Asus desktop and my cores never got over mid 60c with hard gaming. Although, I had a cooling system for that :(.
Would appreciate any tips or help anyone can give.

2024.05.18 02:18 van_____ Internet shows it isn't connected, but works on most software and is connected despite saying it is not.

This issue has gone on for weeks, it seems impossible to fix. I have gone through countless tutorials and reset everything, I've reset my router I have reset all my settings I've tried custom DNS and I've tried using VPNs and this issue will not fix, I went on microsoft forums and found several posts with the exact same issue and not a single solution (the microsoft one didn't work).
I'm on Windows 11 Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-core Processor 64 GB of DDR4 ram GeForce RTX 3070
I have tried everything in the book and I don't know what to do. The reason this is even a problem in the first place is because some programs believe I have no connection when I do (Epic Games Launcher, EA Launcher, etc.) Aswell as the fact I cannot update my computer, meaning if Microsoft were to fix this Id have to manually update my computer. It does this with both Ethernet and normal connection, also when it is connected to other networks, so I believe its a software problem. I have also tried resetting my router.
If there is any way to solve this without doing a full PC reset please let me know, I can provide any kinds of logs upon request

2024.05.17 15:02 CaptLinuxIncognito vkEndCommandBuffer crash

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone might have some idea what to try here, please.
I've been trying to play Company of Heroes 3, and every time I play it always crashes several minutes into the game. It doesn't matter if I'm playing Single Player, Multiplayer, or even spamming the Benchmark, it always crashes. I don't experience this crash with any other Proton or native games, not even Company of Heroes 2 through Proton, which is strange. I've also tried forcing DirectX 11 mode with a parameter (--use-d3d11), with no luck.
This is the error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Assertion failed!
Program: File./src-wine/dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c Line 3750
Expression: !status && "vkEndCommandBuffer"
For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts
(Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)
This has been happening for a week now, and I'm tearing my hair out. I've tried a few general web searches using DuckDuckGo and Google, but all the reference to 'vkEndCommandBuffer' and 'loader-thunks.c' seem to relate to programmers having unrelated Vulkan problems. I checked the Valve Software Proton Github Issue Tracker, but I couldn't find this particular issue. I also checked ProtonDB, but most of the complaints there were to do with stuttering framerates, which I strangely never had an issue with. I did a Reddit search too, with no luck.
I tried running Steam from a terminal window (konsole) and watching for any error messages. The game launches with a message in the terminal saying Nothing to do, and doesn't say anything new when the crash occurs, until I have to close the game manually (via Steam or kill in a Terminal) when it reports something like pid 5923 != 5922, skipping destruction (fork without exec?). I can provide the whole log if anyone wishes to see it.
I tried making sure that no unnecessary apps are running in the background, like Firefox, KeePassXC or Syncthing. I've also tried rebooting more times that I want to remember.
I tried several versions of Proton and Proton-GE to get this fixed, but they all resulted in the same crash. Eventually, I tried so many versions of Proton that Denuvo banned me from playing for 24 hours, which really upset me; imagine trying to use a product you paid for!
I ultimately reinstalled my whole operating system, with a fresh download of Fedora 40. (I tested the iso file's SHA256 hash, and confirmed it was good against Fedora's own hash file. Then I copied it to a Ventoy stick, double-checked the ISO's SHA256 hash again, and booted it, letting the ISO self-verify, before reinstalling my whole OS with a whole new partition table.) The first thing I did in my newly installed OS was perform a fresh Steam installation from RPMfusion, into a fresh home directory, with a fresh download/installation of Company of Heroes 3, but the problem still persists.
I'm at my wits end with this, and I don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, and thanks for reading.
Small edit: The game was originally working fine, then about a week ago it just stopped.

2024.05.17 13:14 Decent_Doubt3472 Setting Active Core in BiOS or permanently in eZtreme Tuning Utility

Hello everyone. So I own the Alienware - Aurora R16 Desktop - 14th Gen Intel Core i9 - 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 - 2TB SSD
So World of Warcraft was crashing every 30 mins.. from 1 min to 30 mins but would ALWAYS crash. So I posted in tech support on the forums and was told to get Intel Extreme Tuning Utility - I downloaded it and the only thing I did was change:
1 Active Core from 60 - 57 Ratio Multiplier (to match 3-8 cores)
2 Active Cores from 60 - 57
3-8 Active Cores is default 57 and always stays at 57. It’s just the 2 above that are always raising to 60 or 62 every time I start a new game.
That's all I did and it fixed it perfectly. ZERO crashes and everything is running top notch.
Now for my question.... I want to make this change permanent so I don't have to load the app every time and every time I open WoW and login it throttles back up to 60 and I manually have to lower it though IETU. I forget a lot and then it crashes. However, I searched EVERYWHERE in my BiOS and the same thing was no where to be found (set at 60 where I would change it to 57).
So my questions are:
  1. What in the bios can I change so I don't need to use the app?
  2. If I can't change it in the BiOS, how can I make the app always set all Cores to 57 and KEEP them there? I boot up my computer Home Screen. Load the utility. The 2 above are at 60. I lower to 57 through app. I launch WoW, it then goes to 60-62 again. I manually change both to 57 again. Then if I load another instance of wow I have to do all that again.
My Processor is intel i9-14900KF
Bios is Alienware 2.7.0 with the 4/11/24 update

2024.05.17 06:30 Ramned Red Lights on New Build CPU and DRAM

Hello yesterday I was building a cousin pc. I'm not the super expert but I did assembly mine and some friends of mine in the past.
The Specs are the next
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FWTsN6
I want to ask what the issue of my problem can be. As soon as I did connect everything (well in my mind) two red Leds were turned on static on my MoBo watching the manual it was for CPU and DRAM.
I did reconnect all wires based on what I read yesterday and turned on again and same issue.
Have few questions here.
As a first sight I thought it was a connection (power) issue so here is my question.
Well after that my computer didn't turn on well and multiple messages, i did disassembly reassembly with no success, and again I disassembly but this time I looked for RAM, CPU and Motherboard CPU Socket.
CPU and RAM looked good, all in shape. But on mother board there was some pins bended, so i end up returning the motherboard and I'm already waiting on the other one. I hope bent pins was the issue otherwise is there something I'm missing on the connections.
I already read and saw a video about the flashback upgrade I will do it on the other motherboard.
Thanks

2024.05.17 02:50 FearlessTruth-Teller Why does it take GFN over a day to download a patch that is a 5 minute download?

This service has become almost unusable when every game goes down for at least a day , sometimes several days, every time a game has any kind of update , which typically happens several times a week.
There is an extremely simple (and free solution) to this problem…
Edit: Please read this: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5232/~/why-are-more-games-showing-up-%E2%80%9Cpatching%E2%80%9D-on-geforce-now%253F
As we can see here, by their own admission GeForceNow supports in-game patching, and they are simply choosing to prevent players from playing. They specifically state here that GFN manually applying the patches centrally should only take "10-20 minutes longer" than in game patching. GFN states explicitly that this takes 10-20 minute longer than manually patching, which they say takes 10-20 minutes. So, by their own admission, there is no reason games are going down for over a day, sometimes several days, for a simple patch.

2024.05.16 05:43 SereneFloofKitty221b I need some help with vinyl engine I need a couple manuals

https://www.vinylengine.com/library/garrard/autoslim.shtml
We dug up my grandparents GE Wellington Coffee table console and while the radio works great the turntable (garrard autoslim according to forum results and it looks right so I'll trust it) doesn't turn I'll take it apart soon to do some checking but I'd like the manual before i open the case so if anyone has access and is willing to send me a copy I'd be really greatful

2024.05.16 05:29 GangsterNapper Our seamless process with our tips

Our seamless process with our tips
Our GE process for 2 adults and what I “think” helped us through expeditiously.
I applied on April 2nd around 10pm and received conditional approval on April 4th in the morning. I also received my AMEX credit for it on April 5th.
My boyfriend applied on April 4th around 11pm and received his conditional approval early in the morning on Saturday, April 6th
In my personal opinion the computer system does a background check and if it can’t match on history it kicks out the application into manual review purgatory.
With this thought in mind I made sure my employment history matched my W-2 or tax return exactly. I think it saved me because my last two jobs had one name, but the parent corp on my W-2 was different. For example I work for XYZ healthcare but the parent company is “integrated healthcare”. I truly think in these cases the system would have kicked it out since there would not be a match.
We live in California and we could have booked an appointment as early as April 11th in LA. San Francisco was booked a few months out, San Diego was booked through October, and Los Angeles only was opening up 3 weeks at a time.
We were going to be in the Los Angeles area so we booked for May 6th. Our appointments were at 11:40. We planned for traffic and arrived at 10:15. We asked if we needed to come back at our appointment time, she said no and stated we wouldn’t wait long.
We were called back within 10 minutes. My interview consisted of the agent asking if anything on my application had changed. The answer was no. He then took my picture and fingerprints and said I will receive an email in a few days and my card in 7-10 days.
My boyfriend’s interview consisted of the agent telling him how, when, and where to use global entry. They took his picture and fingerprints. We were out of the facility by 10:35. We both received an email confirming we had been approved at 1:35 pm. We received our cards in the mail Monday, May 13th.
I really think taking the time to dig up our tax returns and enter the data exactly as the government has it in their records helped the process. My recommendation to you is to make sure the history you enter matches perfectly. I hope it helps you.
I’d be curious to know if people that have been waiting for a long time matched their data to this level.

MY cpu gets overheated
Im going to remove all dust inside my pc the best i can.
My pc is crashing due to high cpu temperatures.
I need a better cooler but i don't know if it fits in my mAtx motherboard.
As soon as i open a game it crashes or reloads, either crashes instant or does it in-game.
I really don't know what else it could be, i also recently had some corrupted gpu files, i got BSOD and all the error messages indicated that my GPU drivers are faulty. When i uninstall Geforce Experience and just download the drivers manually, it works. I have no clue what's going on.

When turning on my computer from a sleep state or even restarting my computer, my case and keyboard will light up however I receive no display signal and a constant VGA light displayed in my case. When utilizing the shut down power option I can get the computer to boot as normal and it will not display a code 43 however it GeForce experience will prompt me to re download the latest graphics driver.

2024.05.15 12:54 MountainAfraid9401 BSOD when running rust-analyzer or compiling rust program

Hello!
I'm unfortunate to be able to summon BSOD anytime I open VSCode with a Rust workspace, as it will run rust-analyzer (which will spike CPU to 100% after a little while, and then BSOD). If I disable rust-analyzer and go on to build the application, I also BSOD.
PC Information:
I've used it for around a week now.
I've tried a couple of things already, but without success. Below is a list of what I've tried:
There was a time when I was able to actually compile and build, but I had maybe success 2-3 times before the BSOD started happening, now it happens consistently every time. I can't remember what I did that changed the behavior, since all I've basically been doing is playing Warzone/CS2 and developing.
Rust information:
rustup 1.27.1 (54dd3d00f 2024-04-24) info: This is the version for the rustup toolchain manager, not the rustc compiler. info: The currently active rustc version is rustc 1.77.2 (25ef9e3d8 2024-04-09)
Rust analyzer: v0.4.1960 (pre-release) - I changed to pre-release version as an attempt... But it also happens on v0.3.1958 (release version)
Dumpfiles from most recent crashes (One from rust-analyzer, and one with analyzer disabled but crashed from compiling manually).
Critical event from log:
I'm no expert, and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how I can stop if from occurring. I do have a poorly recorded video from my phone, of the task manager showing how after ~60 seconds after opening VSCode (rust-analyzer runs) that it spikes to 100% and then BSODs with code `UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP`. The other stop code is `CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT`.
Hoping someone can help me with my troubleshooting..

2024.05.15 09:29 caonguyen9x It a terrible idea to recommend mod pack to people who are new to Skyrim modding. Especially people who just recently played Skyrim. I don’t understand why people keep recommending them.

You should NEVER start out modding with mod pack for the same reason you NOBODY start a woodworking class by buying a COMPLETE wood furniture set. Start small, play the game. See what you don't like and wished to change. That way you understand the mechanism of its working, you see the quirks of vanilla game and hopefully at least a partial understanding of the mechanism that it operate on. Only then, when you understand what you desire you start to Download and follow the installation manual of that mod.
I don't eat pizza by stuffing the entire pizza in to my mouth at the same time, I have to cut it down to size, then I took a bite each time. It get easier that way, with each bite you learn about the taste and texture of the pizza. Sometimes the pizza have the kind of cheese that I do not like or burned bread so I spit it out. Not all bite is the same because pizza can be diverse even within a single pizza. People like to say eating or modding like it is a single step but it is actually not. It just a simplified figure of speech so we easily communicate on a surface level with over complicating something. Eating is not just eating, it actually desiring, finding, seeing, preparing, buying, paying, receiving, checking,....
With each mod that you install you learn something about your taste, your computer (because not all mods are made equal, some are more demanding than other: graphic mod,VFX and script heavy mod are frame killers), you learn about the game version that you have installed. Not all skyrim version are equal ( LE,SE,AE, Steam, GOG). Same goes for mod managers programs too (Wrye Bash, NMM, Vortex, MO2; honestly the only way to prevent permanently breaking your own game is to use virtual folder, that why Mo2 is superior, cause if you fail, it won’t be a reinstall, even then it might not be a surefire with some animation mod). Some mod are dependant on other mods. Some mod are outdated or outright broken because update by the game so you have to degrade your game version, sometimes the author break their own mod with their update, sometime the mod you want depend on other mod to work but that mod update so something is not working anymore for you, sometime Bethesda update their game, the list go on,...
And here is the lesson for people who are new to modding. You have to organize and approach information with care. You must think strategically before you do, like what does the mod I wanted to have is depend on. Don’t jump in blindly, expect all these complex mechanism to work perfectly. It will not. Keep a modding diary. Test your mod out individually then install new mod when you know it working and not incompatible, interact properly with the game & other mod. Always keep back up save and backup config files.
Modding is not playing vanilla game. You are not playing Skyrim. You are playing GOD. To these however miniscule and dumb NPCs in your game. You are their gods, their creator, their life giver. You are a Magna Ge/ Aedra who gave them life by sacrificing your time & energy.
Edit : I don’t think I made myself clear the 1st time . Mod list by itself it still only a mod list. The recent Bethesda UPDATE break some of the mod, even when that mod is on Wabbajack. People need to remember that Wabbajack it and ONLY a mod LIST for the game VERSION that you have. Anything that have dependency can and will break if there is any changes (external program that Beth have nothing to do but your mod require it, like maybe you install/ uninstall wrong or don’t have the right version of NetFramework, Microsoft redistributable C++)

2024.05.15 05:15 rockleesww GE Washer Out of Balance code when not actually out of balance.

I have a GE GTW465ASN1WW topload washer. It recently started not going through the spin cycle and the spin light would start blinking. When i checked the code it was all the normal out of balance codes. The washer isnt out of balance and i can even manually start the drain & spin cycle and it will normally work perfectly on that setting without touching the clothes at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
