2024.05.19 08:00 redbird180 Is there such thing as an inpatient program, "camp," or some kind of intensive training for adults with ASD to learn basic life skills? Im a NT (F, 54) married to a ND (M, 56) @ wits end.

TLDR: Is there such thing as a life boot camp with ppl with high-functioning ASD? An intensive, hands on, and or immersive type "experience" where one could learn "simple" things like how to open your mail, pay bills on time, make checklists for yourself, keep your room clean (make a bed, fold laundry), etc? It would be such a great bonus if there was ANYTHING that could teach basic intimate relationship skills too either in addition or separately. I have been overcompensating for my husband for almost a decade and a half and Im getting worn out. I don't want to do it bc not only do I think it wouldn't work but it would have me "playing mommy" and no one wants to f*ck their mother. At least they are not supposed to ;)
My apologies if I am in the wrong place.
I love my husband, I do. I don't want to get divorced, we have 2 kids F 13 and M 12. Our parents got divorced and we never want to do that our kids. That said, I have been pretty unhappy for YEARS. I posted in the deadbedroom bc our sex life ground down to a halt and someone there thought my hubby sounded ASD. It made so much sense the more I looked into it. Both of our kids have been diagnosed ASD and ADHD (both my hubby and I are diagnosed ADHD-He takes meds and sees a psch, I don't bc I don't feel the need). Ive told him many times you are either ASD or an a$$hole? Which is it or is it both?
ITB his parents got divorced when he was 6 months old, he never had a romantic relationship that lasted longer than 5 months, and the fact that he is a "geek" (works in tech and has a master's in Physics-he got on a full merit scholarship), he has little to no life skills and or understands what is involved in a healthy happy intimate relationship.
When we 1st met, he was living in squalor. Like never cleaned his bathroom for 13 yrs, only owned 1 fork, had only a bed, a desk, and a book shelf in a 1200 sq ft apt. Stacks of books everywhere and piles of old clothes, shoes, etc. I tend to be a fairly "dynamic" person and had owned my own company for almost a decade. My profession requires a HUGE level of organization, people skills, etc and utilizes all my positive attributes of ADHD. It seemed at the time I could take the guy out of the squalor, give him a beautiful home, children and a great life. But I guess I did not understand that you cant take the squalor out of the guy?!?!
We met when I was turning 40 and he was 42 going on 43. I got pregnant the 1st time we had sex, so we got married, bought our 1st home and other amazing milestones happened easily and quickly for us. For the 1st 5 yrs we were married, it wasn't perfect but things worked and I was happy. I now realize that I just overcompensated for him in MANY ways, thinking that he would get the hang of SOME things and learn how to pitch in and or be more of a partner. We have tried marriage counseling through the yrs but nothing seems to have any effect on him. He goes through the movements or just says what sounds good at the time but just reverts back or doesn't do anything that would be or lead to meaningful change.
He operates on this lvl where if he thinks things are fair or good, they are...even though they so arent. He LOVES playing the semantics game where he will claim things like he IS "trying" bc he does X (that is a very small baby step type thing) for X amount of time and I guess I am supposed to understand and take whatever he is doing bc....reasons and he is "trying."
Besides doing his job that he was doing for years before we met (he is the same "lvl" and has not taken on ANY advancement in his career) to earn the $ that supports our family (we agreed I would give up my company and career until our youngest went to the 1st grade and I have made some savvy investments to bring in considerable $) he does practically NOTHING. He works from home since 2020/Covid and at 1st it was good bc it offered us more freedom in where we could live but now he is around 24/7. I would LOVE to return to my beloved career, but I have nothing left energy and time wise between our kids, the house, and him. He wont even get our mail out of the mailbox, let alone open it and or deal with LIFE.
He is seeing a psychiatrist and says he doesn't suffer from depression. He has terrible sleep hygiene and we sleep in separate rooms. We have cleaning people in once a week but his room is almost constantly dirty, disorganized, and cluttered. He constantly maintains that he doesn't really see what the problem is and plays the "semantics game" like "I empty out the dishwasher" ( a task that I have timed myself doing in less than 2 min) or "I take out the trash" when I bring up that I feel like Im drowning in a sea of tasks.
I have told him that I am unhappy. I have screamed and yelled. I have tried being sweet and accommodating to ask that he be at least semi-accommodating in return but he doesn't seem to care that our relationship is not mitigated. I have tried letting things get so bad that he would HAVE to do more but he just lets things get so bad like when our water gets turned off due to lack of payment, he goes to the store and bought a few gallons of water so "it buys us some time" getting the water bill paid the next day. It is NOT like we don't have the $, he just doesn't "like" paying bills and or "dealing with drudgery" LIKE I DO!?!?!
I have asked him to live in a hotel bc I told him that if he didn't, I would go to a hotel bc I need a break from him AND I want him to know I am SO SICK OF HIS SH*T. He agreed and is supposed to be trying to find help. He has tried life coaches (he simply did not do any work that they gave him to do and they charge 1k a month) and allegedly is trying procrastinators anonymous but I see no real effort. I have asked him to get diagnosed with ASD but he claims he spoke with a therapist that specializes in ppl with ASD and the therapist said that "it wouldn't matter" if he got a diagnosis. I asked if he is telling ppl that his marriage is on the rocks and he told me that he did say that his "lack of effort has put some strife in his marriage." Some strife in his marriage?!?! Did he elaborate and or tell them about how unhappy I am? No. He is "concentrating" his efforts on improving "executive functioning" and I guess this is supposed to help make the MEANINGFUL CHANGE I so desperately want and need him to make.
I think that something like boot camp or a life skill clinic or a halfway house for separated/divorced dads would stand the best chance of having him make the changes to his life he DESPERATELY needs to make. If not for me or even more for him but for our kids. They are picking up his bad and destructive habits. In his defense, he doesn't know how to do most things. Both of his parents were highly toxic ppl. His father died in his apt and it wasn't until his body started to smell that anyone noticed. The fire dept had to climb in through the window-fire escape bc the apt was so cluttered/hoarded. His mother is anorexic, keeps no food in the house, will sleep in her clothes on top of a made bed rather than "do all that laundry," and lives in squalor. So, he never learned it at home.
Is there anything where a grown man could learn basic life skills and or how to be a halfway (Id take 1/8) decent partner? Maybe if he could gain some life skills and or the ability to deal with life's demands, he would be happier, healthier in mind, body, and spirit, and in turn me and our family.
ANY suggestions besides "just get a divorce" or "put up with it bc you have for over a decade" it would be helpful. Thanks for reading my BOOK.

2024.05.18 21:08 turbobureaucrat So Real List. Day Planning as Lists Combination

Post already yesterday on SoList.Blog
To those who don’t look much, all lists appear the same. It’s a group of some items and some special symbols to mark each. Others, who work with checklists regularly, might see that there are some differences, but not that many. But when you start digging, it’s easy to notice that you can’t still share this relaxed look. You can’t even give the universal checklist to write any other checklist because they and their circumstances are too different.
Investigating lists and checklists variations looks like an adventurous topic. They usually don’t lie on the ground below the trees, and to find more about them, you need to ask people. This blog post is the result of the first such asking and a consequent discussion. I hope that there will be more “So Real List” in the future.
On Reddit recently, I asked a question in the productivity community about how people use checklists. In response, one of the Reddit users gracefully shared with me the approach to do the day planning. The approach is based on using lists combined with the functionalities of the Scrivener application. This blog is more about lists than applications, so I will focus on their mechanics. We’ll go through the steps of this approach, and you’ll see its beauty. I, the author of the blog, don’t know a lot about the life of the one who responded to me, so the contents of the day will be completely imaginary. However, I hope to keep the essence of the day planning process.
Early in the morning, when the first bold golden and orange rays of sun touch the ground, the Scrivener application is opened. It’s an application for writers built around the texts and their structure. One of these texts contains the triple-sided heart of the planning system: list of routines, list of projects, and action list.
List of routines contains regular actions: daily, weekly, monthly ones. They are split into work and personal. Something like the following list.
List of routines:
Something is quite straightforward, like “Replace the towels”. This is called a task. Something is more complex, like “Spray flowers”. There are 3 nested subtasks for it. The name for complex task in this system is task package.
List of projects is about the goals that don’t repeat regularly but are still important.
List of projects:
Now it’s time to think of this very day with the actions list. The process is to overview two other lists and combine from its tasks or task packages the list for today. There are no subtasks, as the action list should be clear and concise. For the details of the task packages, please refer to either the routines list or the projects list.
Let’s imagine that today is… some arbitrary day. We seek the relevant items in the list of routines. Then we investigate the list of projects. Priorities are visible, and here is the action list for today:
Action list:
You know, this is as beautiful as mathematical operations on sets. The only difference is that the real productivity system contains not 10 routines and 2 projects, but much more.
Thank you for reading! If you have a story about using lists or checklists to make your life, work or business better, please write. It would be great to uncover more mysteries of these two.
Subscribe to https://www.solist.blog/ directly, the post was already there yesterday. You’ll then first receive beautiful emails with the new publications.

2024.05.18 20:45 Obvious_Outsider Character Analysis: Rean Schwarzer (How do I Feel About Rean?)

This post contains spoilers from CS1-Reverie, including Reverie’s post-game content.
Disclaimer: The analysis portion of the Background section contains discussion of mental illness. I am not an expert in mental health, or any health field for that matter. I’m just a guy applying his own perception, lived experiences, and surface-level knowledge to interpreting Rean’s arc. I probably don’t even need to be making this disclaimer, but I felt like it.
Last year, I made this post asking how the members of this sub felt about Cold Steel’s protagonist: the one and only Rean Schwarzer. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of engagement it got, as well as the diversity of opinion expressed in the comments. There were those who loved him, those who were neutral on him, and a few who just couldn’t stand him. At the time, I had just finished CS2, so there was a ton about Rean I wasn’t privy to. However, now that I’ve played Reverie and am fully caught up with the first half of the series, I have a much fuller picture of him. Since so many of you were kind enough to offer up your takes on Rean back then, I figured I’d express my own thoughts on him in the form of a proper analysis. Without further ado, let’s begin!

Background

Rean Schwarzer (born Rean Osborne) is the main protagonist of Trails of Cold Steel I, II, III, and IV, as well as one of the three main protagonists of Trails into Reverie. He was born in S.1187 to Erebonian commoners Brigadier General Giliath and Kasia Osborne. Rean’s father was a brilliant leader and strategist, but his commoner status made him an enemy of the military’s nobles. This led to Giliath’s home being attacked by jaegers when Rean was five, resulting in Kasia’s death and Rean’s heart being punctured by shrapnel. In a desperate bid to save his son’s life, Giliath made a deal with Ishmelga, the Ebon Knight, to become its Awakener and used its power to transplant his own heart into Rean’s body. Due to his deal with Ishmelga, Giliath was forced to give up custody of Rean, entrusting him to the care of Baron Teo Schwarzer. As a result, “Rean Osborne,” the son of a commoner military officer, became “Rean Schwarzer,” the adopted son of a minor noble family.
Although Rean’s new family was loving and supportive, his new life was not without struggle. The boy’s sudden, mysterious appearance in the Schwarzer household made the family - particularly Teo - the subject of gossip and controversy among other nobles. Some believed Rean was Teo’s illegitimate child, while others openly lambasted Teo for his willingness to potentially allow a commoner into the nobility’s ranks. Teo essentially became an outcast among his noble peers, his family’s name tarnished by rumor. Rean, for his part, came to believe he was at fault for this situation, and the subsequent guilt would plague him for many years.
Rean’s self-worth was further challenged by another, more personal problem that arose during his childhood. At age nine, Rean watched an unknown monster attack his younger sister, Elise, and the stress caused an innate “ogre power” within him to manifest. Rean fell into a blind rage, savagely killing the monster. When he returned to his senses, Rean was traumatized by the scene he had left behind, and by the discovery of this new, violent side of him he could not control.
Two years later, Rean became an apprentice of the legendary swordsman Yun Ka-fai, founder of the Eight Leaves One Blade school, hoping to learn how to control his ogre powers. Despite showing great promise as a swordsman, Rean was unable to develop control over his ogre power, and Yun was eventually forced to cut short Rean’s training for unrelated reasons. Although the beginner-rank Rean continued to train on his own, the damage to his psyche was too deep-seated for him to fix alone. He believed he was nothing but a burden and a monster, undeserving of love or happiness. This guilt and self-loathing spurred him to always put others’ needs and well-being above his own, believing himself less important than anyone else. This self-sacrificial behavior became a recurring problem for Rean over the course of his adolescence and early adulthood.
In S.1204, at age 17, Rean enrolled at the prestigious Thors Military Academy in eastern Erebonia. He, along with eight others, became part of Class VII, Thors’s first socially integrated graduating class. Although he still struggled with low self-worth, Rean thrived in this new environment, quickly befriending his classmates and discovering his natural-born ability as a leader. By this time, Rean’s real father, Giliath Osborne, had become Chancellor of Erebonia and was being targeted for death by the Imperial Liberation Front - an anti-Osborne terrorist group. The ILF was a recurring presence in Class VII’s lives during their first school year, and the two groups clashed frequently. At the end of the year, Rean’s life took a dramatic turn when he unexpectedly became the Awakener for the Divine Knight Valimar before watching the ILF - led by his friend Crow Armbrust - seemingly assassinate Osborne and spark a nationwide civil war. Thors came under siege by Crow shortly thereafter, and in the chaos, Rean was forcibly separated from his classmates.
One month later, Rean awoke in the Eisengard Mountain Range outside his adopted hometown, Ymir. Now armed with Valimar’s power, Rean rendezvoused with his family and set out to reunite Class VII. Although he succeeded, Rean was later captured by the Noble Alliance and was held captive alongside Erebonian princess Alfin Reise Arnor. With Alfin’s encouragement, Rean freed the two of them using his ogre powers and rejoined Class VII onboard the imperial family’s airship Courageous. Thanks to Alfin and his bond with his classmates, Rean learned to stop fearing his ogre powers and started opening up more to those closest to him. Using the Courageous, Class VII successfully led a mission to retake Thors before ultimately confronting the Noble Alliance’s leader, Duke Cayenne, and stopping his plan to use the Infernal Castle to win the war. At the same time, new drama entered Rean’s life: Shortly after stopping Duke Cayenne’s plan, Crow unexpectedly died and Osborne was revealed to still be alive - and Rean’s real father. Rean, for his part, was formally recognized by the imperial government for his role in ending the war and became a national hero. This was, however, merely a ploy to pressure Rean into obeying Osborne’s wishes, and it succeeded, as Rean subsequently became an operative in Erebonia’s conquest of Crossbell. It was during this time that he became acquainted with Crossbell Special Support Section leader Lloyd Bannings. After Crossbell’s annexation, Rean fought in the Northern War, which resulted in Erebonia annexing North Ambria. He partook in the siege of Haliask, where he fought archaisms using Valimar. During this stretch of the war, Rean lost control of his ogre powers and was rendered unconscious for three days. As a result, he once again lost faith in his ability to control himself, and swore off the use of his ogre power.
In April S.1206, roughly 1.5 years after the civil war’s end, Rean started a job as instructor of a “new Class VII” at Thors’s new branch campus in western Erebonia. At the branch campus, Rean bonded with his students and fellow faculty while also taking on assignments from the imperial government. It was also during this time that Osborne’s plan to trigger the Great Twilight started unfolding, causing Rean, his students, and his comrades to regularly butt heads with jaegers, Ouroboros, and powerful cryptids. Ultimately, however, Osborne outmaneuvered all attempts by Rean, Olivert, and others to stop him; the Courageous was destroyed by a bomb with Olivert still onboard, Rean’s forces were spread thin through various battles, and Rean himself was forced to watch as Millium Orion was killed and turned into a Sword of the End. Finally at his wit’s end, Rean suffered a mental breakdown and was consumed by his ogre powers, causing him to violently trigger the Great Twilight himself before being taken captive by Osborne and Ishmelga.
After a short period of captivity, Rean was freed by Class VII and their allies. He, along with the SSS and the Liberl Bracer Guild, declined to become part of Musse Egret’s Operation Mille Mirage, instead choosing to oppose Osborne their own way. Rean, as Valimar’s Awakener, decided to partake in the Rivalries to reform the Great One, in hopes of defeating Ishmelga’s curse. He gradually defeated and absorbed power from the other Awakeners until, finally, during Operation Jormungandr, he defeated Osborne and Ishmelga, becoming the pilot of a corrupted Great One. It is at this time when two different futures unfolded: In one, Rean flew the Great One beyond Zemuria’s atmosphere to remove Ishmelga from the continent. In the other, Rean used the power of the Holy Beast of Earth to give Ishmelga’s curse a corporeal form, allowing him and his friends to destroy it. It was this latter future that became Zemuria’s reality, while the former remained hypothetical and unrealized.
Many months after Ishmelga’s defeat, in S.1207, Rean became involved in the incident involving Crossbell and Elysium. While combating enemy forces in the Nord Highlands, Rean started undergoing assimilation with Ishmelga-Rean, an alternate version of himself created by Elysium based on the unrealized timeline from when Ishmelga was first beaten. Later, during the final confrontation with Ishmelga-Rean, the real Rean saw visions of his other self’s sacrifice and finally grasped the devastating effects his past martyr-like behavior had on those he loved. He vowed to make a change before eliminating Ishmelga-Rean, stopping the assimilation.
Sometime after the clash with Elysium, Rean visited Longlai in eastern Calvard with his family, secretly hoping to track down Yun while there. Instead, he encountered members of the Ikaruga jaeger corps, who informed him that Yun was not in Longlai before departing. Rean has since contented himself with his current life as a Thors instructor, sensing that the next incident to befall Zemuria will involve not him, but an entirely different group of heroes.
Analysis: From even a cursory glance at Rean’s story, it is clear he endured much distress and trauma at a young age, and in my view, the result was deep-seated mental illness - namely depression. I am not a psychologist, but I would wager that the violent manner in which his five year-old self lost his home, his mother, and, almost, his own life, was horrific enough for his mind to block all memory of that period as a defense mechanism. This would help explain how Rean did not remember his real parentage until his encounter with Osborne in CS2 jogged his memory. Further stressing Rean were the controversies surrounding his adoption, which were not at all his fault but still interpreted as such by him, and the sudden, gory manner in which he learned of his ogre power. With such a potent combination of stressors burdening his young mind, it is no surprise to me that it took Rean such a long time to overcome his feelings of guilt and worthlessness. He was saddled with depression during the most formative period of his life, and like any mental illness, depression cannot be overcome with just one or two instances of positive reinforcement. It is often something people have to live with for many years, with periods of relative difficulty and relative ease. Looking at it this way, it makes sense for Rean’s arc to have taken as long as it did.
Side note: Obviously, Rean’s story is not the most realistic depiction of depression in fiction, but the manner in which it unfolds and is presented is still enough for me to take it seriously as a journey of struggling with mental health. When Rean receives support or encouragement from his friends and family, it helps in the short-term, but does little to erode the larger problem because that simply isn’t enough. Further, Rean’s progress is not linear, but is marked with occasional setbacks: In CS2, he finally learns to stop fearing his ogre power, but in CS3, we see that he is still vulnerable to losing control of it, and he does so during the Northern War and in the finale of that game. He receives a pendant (“meds?”) and training (“therapy?”) to control said power in CS3, but he still struggles with it. In CS4’s “bad” ending, even after everything he has gone through, Rean falls back into his old habits of self-sacrifice, because that’s how “baked-in” his problems are; he doesn’t even see the issue because he’s lived that way for so long. It is CS3’s finale that is the most striking part of Rean’s journey to me: In my eyes, it is the same as Rean having a mental breakdown, too overcome by his own emotional turmoil to control himself. He becomes consumed by his own demons, literally and figuratively, and it takes the collective effort of his loved ones in CS4 to bring him back to stability.
It is also fitting that Rean’s big turning point - the moment in Reverie where he sees the pain his martyr-esque behavior causes others - is as dramatic as the instances that facilitated Rean’s internal struggle to begin with. What I particularly appreciate about this chunk of Rean’s arc is that it is presented as Rean finally realizing the change he needs to make, rather than him being instantly cured of his ailments. It is simply him resolving to change his outlook on himself and his relationships, and that feels more grounded to me than any alternative route the writers could have taken.

Personality

Rean is a kind, courageous, selfless individual who greatly cares about those around him. Despite his own low self-esteem, he is a gifted speaker and possesses the spirit of a natural-born leader. It is this charisma that quickly made him the de facto leader of Class VII, as he often served as an intermediary for the interpersonal clashes between his other classmates (see: Machias/Jusis and Fie/Laura). He often goes out of his way to help his peers solve problems or make their lives easier. This behavior is propelled by his own feelings of worthlessness, which causes his generosity to often escalate to self-sacrificial activity. On the occasions when Rean is unable to help someone, he often feels guilty, even if the problem at hand was not his fault or was out of his control (examples include his inability to stop Vulcan and Crow from dying in CS2).
Rean is also extraordinarily perceptive thanks to his Unclouded Eye technique, which he learned from Yun Ka-fai. This allows him to set aside any preconceived notions or prejudices he may have and accurately discern a person’s true nature. His training also allows him to notice things others may not, such as objects moving at high speed or unseen people/creatures in his vicinity. At the same time, there are things he struggles to pick up on, namely when it comes to others’ feelings regarding him. Rean often fumbles when it comes to romantic/intimate interactions with the girls in his life, either unintentionally flustering them or failing to understand how deep their feelings run. Rean also fails to understand how his martyr behavior hurts those he cares about, despite numerous incidents ending with people refusing to abandon him and calling him out for perceived recklessness.
Analysis: One thing I’ve always appreciated about Rean is that, despite his serious personal problems, he never comes off as whiny, annoying, cringe, etc. He knows how to compartmentalize and portray an air of confidence and amicability; I would attribute this to his noble upbringing, as we see similar behavior in other noble characters like Laura and Jusis. His natural ability as a speaker and leader are reminiscent of Osborne’s, as is his penchant for self-sacrificial behavior; Osborne was, after all, willing to bond with Ishmelga, literally give his heart to his son, and turn himself into a villain for the sake of his people.
There are considerable differences between Rean and the three protagonists who preceded him. He is almost the antithesis of Estelle: She is lively, spontaneous, and unafraid to open up to others emotionally, Rean is more reserved and measured, and is initially guarded, though he does learn to express himself over time. While he does share similar backstory details to Kevin, their outward personalities are starkly different, with Kevin being suave and laid-back and Rean being more serious and passive. As for Lloyd, while Rean does share his kindness, perception, and leadership ability, the two do have their differences as well. Lloyd’s arc is about starting from nothing and overcoming barriers, gaining strength along the way. He is driven by a commitment to justice and a zealous patriotic spirit. Rean, on the other hand, starts out with great power at a young age but struggles to control it, making his journey more internal and personal than Lloyd’s. Additionally, his fighting spirit comes not from burning passion, but from steely nerve and trust in his companions. And, of course, he is not morally gray like his successor, Van.

Relationships

Due to the sheer number of people Rean becomes involved with, I will only address his more notable relationships. Many will be in clusters, with only a select few individuals receiving their own entries.

Future

As a main series protagonist, Rean is basically guaranteed to return in a future game. Whether or not he will be playable or have a significant role in said game is difficult to ascertain, but given his lengthy period of stardom in the Cold Steel games and Trails’s treatment of other past protagonists, my guess is that he will take more of a side role. Since Rean was looking for Yun Ka-fai after Reverie, and Yun is set to appear in Kai no Kiseki, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rean in that game at all - at least in flashback form. Failing that, Rean will surely appear in or close to the series finale. Of this I am certain.

2024.05.18 15:04 MGK_2 Changing Gears

OK, we are going to try to piece it together yet again. As I've stated in the past, all is conjecture but some of the things which I said in the past need realigning given the new direction the Company is taking. For a long time we've searched, but it all started in the beginning, so therefore, by definition, there must be an end. Many thanks to you my friend u/psasoffice for your help in piecing this puzzle together.
So, the time frame begins when it began, until the time it is realized or when the money runs out. Let's go back again to the summer of 2022, when share price went to $1.26, what caused that? Well to answer that, we need to go back even further.
Back in 2019, CytoDyn put out this PR CytoDyn Announces FDA Clearance to Proceed with Phase 2 Study of Leronlimab (PRO 140) and Regorafenib as a Combination Therapy for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer. Regorafenib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor with minimal efficacy and high toxicity. As u/perrenialloser pointed out, it has plenty of side effects and really is not that functional. However, the drug manufacturer Bayer was prepared to do this Phase II Clinical Trial in patients with metastatic CRC with CytoDyn.
"The study will be conducted by lead principal investigator, John L. Marshall, M.D., Director, The Ruesch Center for the Cure of GI Cancers Frederick P. Smith Endowed Chair, Chief, Hematology and Oncology Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C."
I wasn't around at the time to know for sure, but I believe this trial was set up by Nader. Eventually, this study would be withdrawn for reasons which I am about to disclose.
In October 2021, the MD Anderson Study with Keytruda is announced.
"Nader Pourhassan, Ph.D., CytoDyn’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We anticipate this study will further evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of leronlimab in the tumor microenvironment. We are excited about the possibilities for leronlimab to offer a potential new treatment option for breast cancer patients. This could be an additional indication for which we are pursuing approval for leronlimab. We are also very grateful to Dr. Scott Kelly for arranging for this study to be conducted by Dr. Jangsoon Lee, assistant professor of Breast Medical Oncology Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center."
Cyrus Arman comes onboard as President effective July 9, 2022. During that summer of 2022, the CYDY share price ran up as high as $1.26 per share for some unknown reason. In the past, I attributed it to NASH. I give a breakdown of my thinking here in I Tell You A Mystery. In the commotion of Cyrus' hiring and the mass fluctuations of the share price, the MD Anderson Study had already been completed and the results were looking good to those privileged enough to have been granted rights to actually see the data. Coincidentally, it was about this time that the CRC with Regorafenib was withdrawn. Hmmm, Why was this trial withdrawn? Just because the MD Anderson results looked great or because there was something even more profound and substantial built upon those results?
"We can apply the same logic in the Oncology study being run by MD Anderson using Merck's Keytruda in combination with Leronlimab. We had all been waiting to find out what had happened with the results of the MD Anderson study, and Cyrus threw us this line: "Leronlimab is currently being trialed in combination with Keytruda (pembrolizumab) in a breast cancer xenograft model in partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center." From here, he gave us a hint of what is to come."
In his infamous 12/7/22 R&D Update: Future Development, Cyrus presented his Vision & Plan for the Company:
"17:09: And we're also still committed to HIV, but we're really looking at it more through the lens of developing longer-acting agents. And Dr. Sacha will be talking about that at the end of our discussion today.
17:21: So, within oncology, we're interested in studying what would be referred to as immunologically colder tumors. And Dr. Glück will present on what those -- what we mean by that later. But we think that these are areas where more recent advancements from checkpoint inhibitors have yet to really have a large impact in those markets. And so, we think that there's a unique opportunity based on the data we already have in some of these colder tumors to make an impact.
17:51: Within NASH, we're particularly excited about the data that we have there, and NASH will be our primary focus going forward. We'll also talk a little bit about a unique opportunity to study and look for the treatment effect of leronlimab in people living with HIV who also have NASH. And we think that we might be in a unique position to address that population."
"18:22: So, going forward, we're focusing on NASH, oncology and earlier-line HIV indications through longer-acting agents that inhibit CCR5. Again, we've already generated promising clinical signals in both NASH and oncology. And within NASH, we're exploring the opportunity to study a segment of patients of those NASH patients who are also living with HIV.
18:50: Within oncology, we want to pursue colorectal cancer and breast cancer specifically. Within the colorectal cancer population, we want to focus on a micro-satellite stable group, which represents about 85% of all diagnosed colorectal cancers. And within breast cancer, we want to focus on the hormone receptor positive HER2-negative population, which is about 70% of all diagnosed breast cancers, and the TNBC population since we have data in that space. All of these are quite large markets."
The FDA made it truly tough for Cyrus to meet his goals as the Company's main devotion was to get the hold lifted, so Rules had to be followed. Also, Cyrus unfortunately made NASH a focus and then subsequently became sick and then found himself taking a demotion. His focus really should have been on Oncology as #1 target as it finally is today. Here though is a revealing statement he made:
"...these are areas where more recent advancements from checkpoint inhibitors have yet to really have a large impact in those markets. And so, we think that there's a unique opportunity based on the data we already have in some of these colder tumors to make an impact."
Keeping that escalation in share price to $1.26 in mind, when did CA know about this data? He got the data on the MD Anderson results either before or shortly after his hire. Remember, shortly after NP was terminated, Cyrus was at CytoDyn working at least for a few months prior to his hire giving opportunity to the BOD to assess his work ethic and ways about him. In this time, CA saw the MD Anderson results and they were looking mighty good. Where are these results today? They still reside with MD Anderson. Why don't we have them right now? Too many $millions to buy it, but we saw the results and those results are the impetus for the change in gears of the Company's priorities. Surely Scott Kelly, who was responsible for securing the MD Anderson study has seen them as well.
Speculation: So, what did Cyrus do immediately once he saw those results? He negotiated a cancer play in mCRC with MD Anderson. We can try to piece this together using parts of this post.
"What also happened in August? Only the removal of the first management player who’s experience was in Negotiation and Partnerships, Brendan P. Rae. No longer any necessity for Negotiation? I guess not. As time went quickly by, without any word of what was taking place, the share price began to fall. It became uncomfortably obvious that by mid November, Recknor had been let go. He was CytoDyn's most experienced scientific, medical and managerial player for NASH, but in the game of a collaboration, anyone and everyone is a commodity and all are replaceable. On the same topic, a significant stock bonus was paid to the president in September of last year after only two months on the job. Was a deal struck? Also, our very own CMO, Scott Kelly who coined the phrase: “There are many ways to structure a partnership.“ himself gets terminated in December 2022."
Just like that bonus, (which was based on his obtaining a partnership), the short-lived share price rise also assumed that a deal had been struck. Scott Kelly was privy to the MD Anderson results just as Cyrus was. Why didn't Kelly put a deal together like Cyrus did? I don't want to diminish the fact that Kelly was wholly responsible originally for getting the MD Anderson murine study going. The fact is that a deal had been made and justifies Cyrus' bonus payment.
Proof came a year later, in October 2023 in a few posts by biloxiblues which together with everything else, in my eyes, solidifies this new theory. The price went to $1.26 because of this 100% fully funded, 200 patient Phase II mCRC combination Keytruda Clinical Trial Cyrus Arman had arranged with MD Anderson, based on the spectacular results of the MD Anderson murine study. But, as discussed in the posts by biloxi above, the BOD got in the way. This can also explain why the Regorafenib Bayer trial was withdrawn, when it became clear as day that the results of the MD Anderson study were great and a massive combination Keytruda trial was struck, but pending, unfortunately, taking second fiddle to the work of getting the hold lifted.
Through his discussions with Cyrus, biloxiblues indicates that Tanya would not compromise. She and the others on the BOD were too intently focused on following the mandates of the FDA. The FDA wasn't fooling around with the hold and CytoDyn could not make any more mistakes. Tanya was dead set on following the "Rules". The number one priority was to get off clinical hold and the FDA made it damn near impossible for CytoDyn and Cyrus. It damn near killed him. So, the BOD made the incredulous decision to walk away from Cyrus' baby, which was a fully funded mCRC combination trial with Keytruda and we learned all of that in October 2023 thanks to biloxiblues.
But this was Cyrus' Baby, and he wasn't about to let her go. Could this be why CA is still with us? After all, aren't we back to mCRC again?
Dr. Lalezari comes on board in November of 2023 and puts forth the Inflammation and Immune Activation within a very small sub-set of HIV patients. Share price bumped up and pulled back. Damn, this trial with 90 patients could cost CytoDyn near $10 million. Where does that money come from? Share price is lower after the announcement. Can't raise money with a low share price. That would consume boat loads of shares. Inflammation/Immune Activation was not working. People weren't buying it.
Cyrus Arman is witnessing everything going on, that there is no money and that it is not advancing, and it occurs to him that his baby, may not be completely abandoned altogether. No, he realizes that the hope he once had lost due to circumstance could now be found again, so he advocates in earnest for her.
He recalls Scott Kelly discussing the 12/14/21 CC with Scott Kelly Basket Trials:
"25: 25 Kelly: We are excited about the Basket Trials. I'll start by saying I just presented at San Antonio Conference December 10th. That was in results wrt mTNBC in combination with carboplatin, CCR5 positive, mTNBC and I tell you, the reason why we are excited about the Basket Trial is that they think that there is a growing acceptance that the Tumor Micro Environment is the next Frontier for Immunotherapy. And I mean this amongst practicing physicians, the academic world, probably as well as big pharma, and I think we are more advanced than this. We've been looking at the mechanism of action in the tumor micro environment and see Leronlimabs impact across multiple different oncologic indications and we also think that we can pair this with a check point inhibitor, chemo, radiation, antibody zero conjugates, as well as maybe even a potential monotherapy in certain patients that don't qualify for other treatments. We think the MOA, with T-Regs. When T-Regs come in, they turn off the immune system. We know that they have a high prevalence of CCR5. We can block that. We can actually maybe leverage the immune system. If we look at macrophage re-polarization, that's another potential opportunity. Our animal studies showed a significant reduction in angiogenesis. I think it was 62% in total vessillary and 80% reduction in small vessel area. But, we know that tumors need a blood supply to grow and if we can help limit that, then we think we can have benefit for patients. And last, we know that normal cells, CCR5 is only present on an immune cell, but we know that when cells under go malignant transformation, that they start sprouting up CCR5, and we believe that is a contributor to metastasis. So, we have multiple different mechanisms of action and we continue to find more as we go along that we will be evaluating."
He remembers Dr. Gluck's discussion in the 12/7/22 R&D Update Dr. Stefan Gluck; MicroEnvironment.
"So, as you saw, very small studies, but extremely promising, and the signal for an oncologist like myself is so strong that I'm enthusiastic about it. We, as oncologists, need to be positive because otherwise, we cannot treat patients and tell them something better is coming. The leronlimab decrease of these tumor cells actually did relate both in mTNBC and in colorectal with improved survival. That's amazing."
Cyrus turns to our 3rd party AI collaborator and requests an assessment on the effect of a CCR5/L5 axis blockade in mCRC. Their AI engines get to work and compile all that is known and understood regarding the pertinent Biomarkers in combination with all the pertinent journal articles on the blockade of the CCR5/L5 axis in the disease to finally determine that it works like a charm, like no other.
He reflects upon these statements made in this Regorafenib study which supports the fight against the MSS cold tumors. Thank you u/perrenialloser for this journal article.
"The majority of patients with CRC exhibit a microsatellite stable (MSS) or mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) status, which is known as the “cold tumor” with less mutated oncogenes and less inflamed tumor immune microenvironment, resulting in a limited efficacy of ICIs (2). The inadequate recruitment and activization of immune cells to the tumor microenvironment were considered to be fundamental mechanisms underlying the inefficacy of ICIs in MSS mCRC (4). Combination strategies to enhance the immunogenicity of the tumor microenvironment and exploit the benefit of ICIs in patients with MSS are urgently needed."
He becomes even more convicted. Given all that I presented here in addition to the proven results of the MD Anderson, Keytruda study which Cyrus has laid his own eyes upon, he becomes whole heartedly supportive of the Priority switch to the mCRC Oncology Indication. I'm sure Richard Pestell was also 100% behind Cyrus in this decision to switch priorities. Also, by switching to Oncology, share price has a better chance of increasing as Oncology is favored by the public. Fund raising could happen much quicker with a higher share price resulting from a better indication. From the recent May 2024 Letter to Shareholders:
"Over the next six months, we expect to commence at least one, and potentially two clinical trials. The prospective clinical trials, in order of priority, are: (i) a Phase II study of leronlimab in patients with relapsed/refractory microsatellite stable colorectal cancer; and (ii) a Phase II study exploring leronlimab’s effects on inflammation. The Company’s priority will be the oncology trial which, if successful, will put us on track towards a commercial approval of leronlimab in that indication. The inflammation study is aimed at clarifying certain provocative observations related to leronlimab, and to help define the dose and underlying mechanism of anti-inflammatory action. It is imperative that the Company generate unassailable results in the clinic and I believe the above trials can accomplish this. Starting the oncology study and related fundraising is the top priority of the Company at this time, but our current hope is that we can initiate both studies before the end of this calendar year."
So straight from the CEO's mouth, related fundraising is the top priority of the Company at this time. Cyrus remains here at CytoDyn because of the need to pump up the value by switching to a more attractive Indication Priority. I repeat all of this, because with all of the peer reviewed and published Journal Articles that discuss the CCR5/L5 axis in the context of Colo-Rectal Cancer and given Keytruda's exceptional performance as a PD 1 blockade in only 15% of these CRC MSI tumors, leronlimab can open the door wide open to the remaining 85% MSS tumors. The trial starts this year. Also from the recent Shareholder Letter:
"Research and development partnership opportunities are important to the Company as we search for cost-effective ways to further build out our product development portfolio. We have identified several such opportunities that we believe are intriguing and anticipate finalizing agreements with these partners in the very near future. Such potential partnerships include an investigator-initiated pilot study of leronlimab in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease, and a project that will evaluate the use of leronlimab in patients living with HIV who are undergoing stem cell transplantation in a proof of cure study. Following lifting of the clinical hold, we have observed a significant increase in third parties that are interested in partnering with the Company. We will continue to review opportunities as they arise, given the potential for significant value return at little or no cost to the Company."
The question I now have is with whom? Partners are incoming, but did leronlimab make it easier for the PD-1 blocker Keytruda to work in MSS mCRC tumors? If it did, (and Cyrus knows if it did or did not), then Merck certainly remains there in the bidding. If leronlimab did it all by itself and Keytruda was superfluous, then the partner might be someone like u/i__OBSERVER points to entities such as the NIH as the source of that funding.
Personally, I am very much thankful to anyone involved that pushed for the change in priority as mCRC is a much better recognized Indication, and one that is easier to understand and bring to the public.

2024.05.18 14:32 Physical-Craft-6389 Account Executive

Started after my intership at an advertising agency. My co-workers said that it's a good starter salary, especially with all the benefits. It's a very exciting but often stressfull job. In the long run, I want to be a marketing director for a well-known brand, but focus is on gaining experience at an agency, dealing with different clients in different indsutries etc.
FYI: An account executive in advertising is not a sales job, it's more client servicing/project management for different campaigns.

Radio silence - help!
Hello!
Last year, I attained my MBA and was hoping to pivot into mgmt consulting. I stopped working to focus on school and did one summer internship while at school. Once I graduated, I took some time off to overcome a health challenge. It seems I may have missed my window. I've sent hundreds of apps in the past few months and only received 2 phone screenings and one first round interview (TBD on where I stand). I'm stumped on why I can't get any traction even when applying for roles I'm overqualified for.
I'm applying for roles along the lines of operations, office manager, and project manager since it ties in with past experiences some bit. Meanwhile, I've also been keeping an eye out for any consulting, change mgmt, and program mgmt roles.
I'm currently pursuing my PMP certification, learning how to maximize AI by learning AI prompting, and started to learn Tableau and SQL just to be more data analytics under my belt.
I've thought about cutting down some content on my resume, but I'm not really even sure where to start slicing. Honestly, I'm feeling quite lost and would appreciate any insights.
TIA!

2024.05.17 21:31 No_Fold_1640 What do auditors do again?

5 years of fraud from fake invoices and fake employee expenses, and I believe EY has been the auditor at Facebook since IPO.
Mandatory fraud procedures won’t find anything like this. Some stupid JE procedures and executive employee expenses audits won’t stuff like this. SOX controls were effective for PTP, so they just took approved invoices as is.
Audit is designed to purely comply with SOX audit regulations and that’s it. Anything else, such as critical thinking or actual fraud detection is pushed aside.
Didn’t read a single 10K, but I bet this didn’t even raise to the level of a significant deficiency in controls. “We can’t detect management override”.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndga/pformer-diversity-program-manager-facebook-and-nike-sentenced-federal-prison-5-million
Edit: the pushback on the comments here is insane. Auditors aren't supposed to find fraud? Then why are there fraud procedures in the EY PGAP checklist? Not sure if it's called PGAP still. You EY blue fence drawing kook aid drinkers know exactly what I'm talking about.

2024.05.17 21:08 Icy_Junket8578 Does no raise mean they want me to quit?

Sorry this is long, but I would love some other perspectives on this situation especially from those in management positions. Last year I returned from maternity leave in February to my job at a high growth SaaS company. I had an annual review in March which was hard as I started at the company the previous March, but went on pregnancy disability leave and then maternity leave in October. So really it was only 7 months in a totally new job, role and industry. I was given an only a 3% increase, but it made sense all things considered.
Shortly after, my manager left the company and they did not backfill her until late December. From May to January I reported up to a C-Suite executive who provided very little leadership support and often conflicting direction, but gave me positive feedback and evaluation that I achieved 80-100% of my goals for Q2, 3 & 4. In December, despite record sales and profits, the company announced a series of clawbacks to our benefits, which increased the cost of my medical insurance premiums for myself, and my two children considerably, and also eliminated their 401(k) match. They also announce that any salary increases going forward would be purely merit based, no cost-of-living increases.
I had a very difficult project that ended up extending from December into Q1 and my new boss was just onboarding and not able to help much and both her and her boss ignored a lot of my requests for support and help unblocking things with other c-suite stakeholders. In my Q1 review I was blamed for this and given only a 50% goal attainment bonus. The company also pushed back discussion of annual salary increases until now as they were aligning the timing for the whole company. So I just was told today that I will not be receiving any increase and the next evaluation won’t be until January. My new boss told me she was not involved in that decision as she wasn’t here at last year, so it was made by that c-level exec.
My question is are they just trying to get me to quit so they don’t have to fire me and pay me unemployment, etc?
I actually like my new boss and I think I can learn a lot from her but the fact that I have basically had a huge compensation decrease (even with inflation aside) is upsetting and what’s more it’s just a feeling that I don’t know if I’m actually wanted there at all. My feeling is that I probably need to get serious about looking for another job and just leave, but am I overreacting? How common is it for people in these types of companies to not receive any annual increase at all? At my previous company, I was considered a high performer and my annual increases ranged between 5% and 13%. So this has been a big shock and I’m not sure how to navigate.
Thanks for getting this far!

2024.05.17 13:21 BobbyCry Acurast-The Next Billion Dollar DePin Dapp

Check out Acurast, a decentralized serverless cloud platform.
I stumbled upon a DePIN platform last week. I was actually excited to share. However, I gave it pause because I wanted to do a lot of research about the project and make my conclusion before sharing it here.
And trust me, “If compute is the new oil, then Acurast is the drill.”
I’m going to make the findings of my research here:
What blew my mind about this project is that all you need is a spare phone and internet connectivity.
Yes! You heard me right. Imagine being able to receive rewards on a mobile phone that you no longer use. The amazing part is that even if the phone's screen is cracked, you can still use it to provide compute on Acurast.
Let me introduce you properly to Acurast.

2024.05.17 11:58 openthegate2024 Tying to figure out inheritance and a renovation

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. Would really like some thoughts or advice on this if people have a few minutes.
A relative passed away 2 years ago. In her will, her house was left to my parents. They don't want it, so they will dispose it to me and I'm then liable for CAT. I get that part...I think. My solicitor, their solicitor etc
I've had one valuation done from a company who use "AI" and google maps, and the CAT will be close to 80-100K, but will get another full "proper" valuation done in the future.
The house itself definitely needs a lot of renovation. So what's the best way of doing all of this from a financial perspective, and in what order.
  1. Do we take out another mortgage to fund the renovation (and include the CAT in the mortgage amount)?
  2. Alternatively, do we look at releasing equity in our existing mortgage? We have 90K left to pay from a 215K mortgage (our current house is approx valued at 350k / 375K)
  3. I'm aware the probate process isn't exactly quick, once the will is executed and we do the disposing. So how do I line up paying the CAT / applying for a mortgage and getting all the pieces to align, not to mention looking at a waitlist for any half decent builder? Is an option of getting a loan of the CAT amount a bad idea? and then moving ahead with another mortgage / equity release?
  4. Could we start the process of renovation without any disposing and then take care of the CAT, or would we have to wait until the legal side of things and the house is in our name?
  5. I'm aware of the vacant house grant, and know it hasn't been dished out that often. But speaking to some building companies, they seem to take onboard the application and seemingly have a good success rate.
Have to admit, I'm quite lost as to where to even start on all this, and it's more the alignment of finances than anything else with the CAT being the issue. I'm obviously not the first person that's being in this scenario, so would really appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

2024.05.17 11:13 mczero80 D-R35 plus hacking attempts

Well some of us have ordered the overpriced D-R35 plus, me included. The right decision would be to cancel orders, but some of us are too curious and want to hack the device, making homebrew and custom firmwares possible.
Nihon777 had some success in the comments of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsBpHsMNG2Q
There is a init file in the retro folder, which is a simple shell script. When something is inserted after the "modprobe joydev" line, it gets executed, simple.
And it vaguely revealed the CPU and the amount of memory:
Single Core Cortexc-A7 + 64MB
processor : 0
model name : ARMv7 Processor rev 5 (v7l)
BogoMIPS : 2.00 Features : half thumb fastmult vfp edsp neon vfpv3 tls vfpv4 idiva idivt vfpd32 lpae evtstrm
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant : 0x0
CPU part : 0xc07
CPU revision : 5
Hardware : GPA7XXXA Device Tree
Revision : 0000
Serial : 0000000000000000
MemTotal: 43120 kB
MemFree: 24232 kB
MemAvailable: 23988 kB
Buffers: 124 kB
Cached: 9540 kB
GPA7740A? ARM Cortex-A7 660MHz w/ NEON, FPU, L1: 32KB/32KB L2: 128KB, 470KB internal RAM, DDR2 64MB, 3D GPU OpenGL ES2.0, OpenVG 1.1
Cross-compiled binary as main replacement did not work, but in folder retro there is the "init" file, you can insert a few lines after "modprobe joydev" and the rest. E.g. "cat /proc/cpuinfo > /usretro/info.txt" will write the cpuinfo into the retro folder after next start. "cat /proc/meminfo > /usretro/info2.txt" etc. I am using notepad++ which leaves the line endings intact (different between linux and windows). And don't forget to make an image from the original card, just in case.
Very minimal linux, just busybox. What a pity, could be a great device with second core and more than 64mb ram. It has half as much ram as SF2000 and the cpu is just on par. Dunno if it is the GeneralPlus 660 Mhz one overclocked to 800 mhz (no clock info) or maybe V.R.T. used the GeneralPlus Cortex-A7 and 2D accelerator stuff on their VT-569 which is assumed to have legacy V.R.T. famiclone technology. The linux seems to use direct framebuffer output, at least during startup. GPA7XXXA Device Tree is is used accordin g to cpuinfo and there only is GPA7740A out. BTW, there is an SDK for that chip that can be downloaded.
Question is if it really is the GeneralPlus. There is info under /proc/device-tree, eg /proc/device-tree/model, returns GeneralPlus EMU Board or something like that. Also somewhere under /proc/device-tree there is a gpu. So yes, you are right, it should be the GeneralPlus one with GPU. There is a datasheet for the GPA7740A stating 3D GPU OpenGL ES 2.0, OpenVG 1.1, 22 Mtriangle/s, 112Mpixel/s. Wonder if the GPDLAv2 "deep learning accelerator" is also onboard. I think yes, probably that is just some kind of dsp or something like that, could accelerate some stuff. Programmable system PLL frequency from 216 Mhz to 1188 Mhz. Who knows, maybe they just clock the chip very high for PSX? Lots of 2D acceleration features too. Yoshis Island running very nicely, Kirby 3 not starting.
There is a newebetter one I think not listed yet on their homepage, but that one seems to be available only in BGA format and not QFP. The [V.R.Technology](javascript:void(0);) VT-569 is rumoured to be compatible with VT03/VT369 and those are famiclone chip compatible (nes on a chip). A single link on the web, nothing more.
I have the cpu clock: cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/of_node/clock-frequency > /usretro/info1.txt hexedit of info1.txt shows: 27B25A80, convert to decimal: 666,000,000 = 666 Mhz, so it really seems to be the GeneralPlus chip where we know we can set the cpu clock from 216 Mhz up to 1188 Mhz. It has 1 core less than the Miyoo Mini, 64MB versus 128MB Ram but a 2.5 D graphics accelerator (comparable or better than the Sigmastar 2D accelerator the Miyoo Mini has) AND a 3D GPU. Also GeneralPlus has tech demos on youtube, they seem to be able to make a lot of things happen with minimum cpu clock.
GPU is not visible from within linux, you have to load the kernel modules like in /gpu_[env.sh](javascript:void(0);). It is a Vivante, possibly GC Nano + GC320. I suspect there might be an additional Cortex-M, would show up ad remoteproc, but I do not know how to setup. Next steps would be getting a remote terminal via getty on ttyUSB with a crossover usb nullmodem cable.
I suspected it would be similar to those "Gamestick Lite 4K" devices, because the sdcard layout is very similar what I have seen.
If, big IF, the prices would go down to SF2000 levels, it would be a nice device, I like the controls and the haptic is not too shabby.

Custom software for business

What is Custom Software Development?

https://preview.redd.it/m8p19pqavx0d1.png?width=740&format=png&auto=webp&s=4856e60bb778a32361b4fd70e660f2e64598e9d1
Custom software development means the designing of software applications to address the challenges faced by users within an enterprise business. Custom software development services address the users’ needs better than off-the-shelf software or readymade software.
For example, Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop, which are specifically designed to address the challenges of the diverse needs of software users. Inevitably, you cannot modify or update the functionalities of these software solutions according to your needs.
On the other hand, customized software development needs a detailed plan and is created by a custom software development team or in-house software developers. The custom software development process includes:
  • Designing
  • Developing
  • Deploying
  • Maintaining Software
A custom software solution is developed keeping the company’s management, branding, implementation needs, and business processes in mind. Look at McDonald’s, it uses POV technology to serve millions of customers with their customized orders.
Before you finalize the software development plan, let’s discuss the steps to create a custom software project for your business in the next section.

Follow These 5 Steps to Create Custom Software

Whether you are an entrepreneur or planning software development for a small business, follow these 5 points and get a clear answer to how to develop custom software. So, let’s dive deeper and understand each step in a very simple manner.
1. Identify Your Business Challenges
How to develop software? When you have this question, first you need to identify core business challenges. We all know that every business has its own unique work process and business needs. One specific software can never fulfill the requirements of each business.
Therefore, you need a custom or tailor-made solution to solve your entire business-related challenges, such as:
  • Managing a large number of employees
  • Increasing work efficiency
  • Boosting business revenue
So, when you start to develop your own custom software application, identify your business challenges first that you are concerned about the most. Discuss your challenges and requirements thoroughly with your management team, business leaders, and employees.
After this discovery phase about your challenges, it is time for you to analyze the requirements that can help you minimize the difficulties.
2. Analyze Your Requirements
Once you have a list of all your challenges, focus on the features and functionalities that you want to integrate into the software solution. Make sure you only add those advanced features that would help you to streamline your business process in the long run.
So, analyze what you actually need and what can be helpful for you to streamline the business. Let’s take an example to understand this step in a better way. Suppose you run an on-demand business and are facing challenges to manage customers’ data or probably looking to generate new leads.
In fact, according to a study, it is found that without CRM, 79% of marketing leads never convert into sales. We are sure that you wouldn’t let this happen to your business. And just like you, no other entrepreneur would be ready to lose their marketing leads.
Therefore, we have also shared some of the advanced and common features that you can consider for your custom software application. Here are the key features:
  • Customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Accounting and financing
  • Task scheduler system
  • Security
  • Integration with existing systems
  • Migration from off-the-shelf software to new software
  • Work automation
Once you decide on all the features and functionalities for your software, create software architecture design.
Read on: custom software for business
3. Hire a Custom Software Development Company
There is a pool of top software development companies in the custom software development market. Therefore, it becomes extremely difficult to choose a development company that understands your requirements and offers you the exact same results you need.
In fact, many enterprise businesses prefer working with top software development outsourcing companies. Recently, the global outsourcing market size has reached USD 92.5 billion in 2019. Also, here are some of the benefits of outsourcing to a custom software development company.
  • Saves time
  • Minimize risks of software development projects
  • Makes scaling easier
  • The larger labor pool of talented professionals
  • Access to multiple services
Look at the following image to know the 3 steps of outsourcing to a software development company.
When it comes to a reliable technical partner, we can assure you that Space-O Technologies has always been an ideal choice for entrepreneurs. We believe in providing the best software solutions to your complex business needs. We truly understand your requirements and deliver the best custom software services without compromising their quality.
In fact, we are ranked amongst the top software development companies on GoodFirms and Upwork. We have 100% job success on Upwork with more than 950+ jobs done.
We are also sharing a checklist that will help you while choosing an outsourcing company. You can consider any of the preferred factors to select the best software company.
We will now move ahead to the next step, where we will discuss the development of custom software and testing parts of the software.
4. Software Development and Testing
Now you have decided on the bespoke software development company as per your preference, you can start the software development process by signing an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). To keep your proprietary information and idea safe, signing an NDA is essential.
Also, know that this step is the longest one where you will need to invest your time to build custom software solution. Being an owner of the enterprise business, you will need to ensure that everything is in line and the development process is going smoothly.
For this, you can regularly contact the project managers or get in touch with the dedicated development team. Also, know that when all the components such as system requirements, the architecture, and the wireframe are in line, the plan execution would be a lot easier and faster.
Once your customized software application is ready, the software development team will carry out the testing phase. This phase will also involve various types of functional and non-functional testing. This is either achieved manually or automatically.
In case any bug or error is detected, it will be fixed and re-tested. The whole testing process will continue until the quality of your software matches the original requirements. The software development team will ensure that everything is smooth and the customized application software is offering you the same results that were expected.
After successful testing, your software will be ready to get launched.
5. Software Deployment and Maintenance
This time, you and your users will start getting familiar with the system. You all will start using the software. Therefore, you need to note that the development company will support the software application post-release as well.
You can choose to install the software in your existing system. Later, under the guidance of the development company, end-users will be trained for using the software. Gradually, your team will learn to operate the software, and the integration of software with existing systems can be implemented.
In case your software needs maintenance or up-gradation, you can contact the development company. However, you need to talk to the software development company beforehand about whether they will offer the maintenance services or not. This will streamline the whole software development process and avoid you paying maintenance costs.
After discussing these 5 steps, you know how to create a software program from scratch, and it is now clear how you can start the whole software development process.

2024.05.16 23:50 404Dawg Multiple users updating task statuses separately?

I’m building an onboarding app where new employees can go through a checklist of items to do and have access to certain to trainings. I go to launch and realize that my app must support multiple users with the same credentials being able to update their individual checklists. Is there a way to do this? I understand you can splice views etc. but what I’m wanting is Employee A and B who are on the same team, to be able to access the same dashboard but each can update a task’s status individually. Right now if Employee A updates task 1, it updates the dashboard for Employee B’s dashboard too.

2024.05.16 23:48 No_Werewolf_7785 Almost cried-what would you do next?

I got recruited to start a new function at a small-ish biopharma company (800 ppl). I have 20 plus years of experience working in big pharma, and was looking for something different so I took the job. Come to find out after I took the job that the company had made some native decisions in order to keep a particular program afloat, resulting in a huge resource drain. So I ended up having to roll up my sleeves and go deep into executing their shitty plan, bandaiding lots of issues that were popping up, and trying to figure out how to resource all the extra work that was created by the decisions made before I got there. Not a big deal, except that by having to go deep into project management in order to keep the program afloat, I was left with zero time to ."Start the New Function". Today my boss told me that leaders from other functions are questioning my capabilities as Head of the Department I was hired to create. Maybe they're right-maybe I should've prioritized things differently (in favor of creating the department vs pulling their program out of the fire).
Any advice on what my next move should be? I have considered everything from trying to defend myself to asking for exactly what it is that I'm NOT doing, to quitting.
I should also note that my boss left the country for 2 weeks immediately after I started to attend to a family emergency and upon return his organization tripled in size so he has devoted very little time to onboarding me or providing input. Until today. I was blindsided. And I'm not convinced that the leaders in the other function that delivered this assessment to my boss are actually qualified in any way to make such a judgement. It was their shitty decisions that created the current situation even though a whole host of expert consultants told them it was a shitty decision.
Really interested to hear what y'all have to say. What would you do in this situation?
