2024.05.19 15:27 TheTwelveYearOld Is the line between TUIs and GUIs blurring? What's the difference in rendering and compute demand between them?

I've heard a lot that a benefit for using terminal software over GUI apps is that they use much less resources. And that's why its better to SSH into servers rather than have them use up resources for a display server, Quartz X11 Wayland etc.. But terminals aren't just outputting raw text, they have text and background colors per character, TUI frameworks have been made for them to essentially have GUI-like elements, like Neovim and Ranger. Things like the Kitty Graphics Protocol seem to blur the lines. While I don't know the technical details (please explain if you can!), it's nice that it can render images in the terminal, but how is it different, especially the technical details and resource demand (CPU GPU RAM etc.) to display servers?! Does it work without a display server running on the client, like a "raw" linux terminal where the desktop environment isn't loaded?
I haven't look at this much either but there's also kui.nvim, a terminal GUI framework built on-top of Kitty Graphics and it seems to escape the TUI constraint of only being able to visualize things with text characters, being able to draw elements of any length. There's a comment on this Reddit post showcasing kui.nvim discussing the benefits of a terminal are that it's not a GUI.
So what makes a terminal a terminal, different from GUIs and full desktop environments? Is it the low resource usage, is it still low with Kitty Graphics and kui.nvim? Is it the keyboard-centric interaction for higher efficiency? Is it because of the other benefits of commands environments, like unix stdin and stdout piping? If you want full blown GUIs in a terminal environment then how is it much different than using a GUI app with full keyboard navigation and text inputs? How do you feel about rendering full GUI graphics in a terminal?

this rapunzel discourse is getting out of hand
[reposting context from another sub] this drawing reminds me of old colonial propaganda that white people would post to try to say that the white woman was the damsel in distress and the WOC was the evil witch. I could spend a whole day analyzing this image. This is such an orientalist depiction and drawing. I don't have the effort to write it all out so I'm quoting these tweets that summarize my thoughts.
The amount of details they put into that drawing really tell you how much thought they put into deliberately portraying Brown Rapunzel negatively. The painting is so blatantly orientalist. OP drew Indian Rapunzel sexualized with a smug and wicked facial expression while drawing the White Rapunzel crying fake crocodile tears. OP drew the body of South Asian Rapunzel by emphasizing her bust, hips, and behind. She also drew the dress for South Asian Rapunzel MUCH shorter when White Rapunzel has a full length dress on and her bust is not emphasized as much.
The White rapunzel does not have her hips and bust drawn predominantly, she just is drawn as looking like a damsel in distress behind the evil South Asian lady.

Remember the names of these 33 warriors.

After three hard-fought quarters against the Nuggets, the Grizzlies eventually lost.
Much like most of the seasonā€™s games, they displayed convincing moments. Whenever the opponent attempted to push the game into a decisive depth, TJ would call a timely timeout to catch a breath and then immediately launch a counterattack. If you were an unfamiliar fan tuning in during the final moments of many games, youā€™d be puzzled: who are these guys? How are they tying the score against Joker, JT, Bron, and AD? But most of the time, effort couldnā€™t beat talent.
No worries, I was just as surprised as you. But after watching the Grizzlies' final game of the season in the early morning, I took a deep breath as the fleeting memories of the past six months flashed before my eyes like a slideshow, and I understood them.
This is the Grizzlies' second-lowest win rate season in the past 15 years. They had 33 players wear the jersey, missed 578 games due to injury, and used 51 different starting lineups (all NBA records). Even one of the leagueā€™s loudest home courts, FedEx Forum, often had many empty seats for most of the season.
"For just $2, you can see Timmy Allen, Jack White, and Zavier Simpson play live!"
This isnā€™t a joke. On April 9, facing the Spurs at home, all three played at least 25 minutes. They limited Rookie of the Year Wemby to 18 points on 19 shots but were still dominated on the boards by Sandro Mamukelashvili and lost the game.
Despite several key players coming and going, last season the Grizzlies boasted the league's best home record (35-6), but this season they only won nine games at home. After back-to-back home losses to the Blazers (who finished last in the West with 21 wins but beat the Grizzlies three times) on March 2, GG Jackson admitted postgame:
"You see your fans leaving with like 8 minutes left in the game, that really sticks us as players. They want to come see us play. And that's kind of like them slapping us in our faces like, 'We don't want to see you play.' We've got to change that."
I understand these people. This has been a season full of hardship for players, coaches, management, the team, fans, and the city. From before the season, we were devastated by unprecedented injuries. Anyone still paying attention to this team is a true Grizzlies fan. Special credit to the players and coaching staffā€”by January, the season had already lost its meaning. The basketball gods didnā€™t favor them despite Jaā€™s season-ending injury but instead brought more injuries. Yet, even so, they fought on and never gave up. I donā€™t recall any game being "surrendered"ā€”no matter how few players were left, they gave it their all on the floor.
https://preview.redd.it/godn2cysld1d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=88a5a76c9627381d1ec46d31f5875dfa10b2957c
My favorite artist Taylor Swift released her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," today, and Iā€™m willing to call the 2024 Grizzlies "The Tortured Players Department"ā€”injured, pained, struggling, liberated, relieved, and then filled with hope.
I donā€™t know how fans will remember and evaluate this most painful season in NBA history ten years from nowā€”but while the memories are still fresh, Iā€™ll do it now.

Two Black Swans

If we set the start of a season as the day after playoff elimination, then as early as last May, shadows had already enveloped the team. Like me, Morant wasnā€™t good at live streaming, and for the second time, he brandished a gun in a car. When I got the news, I was packing for a trip to Guangzhou the next day and nearly tore a basketball sock in half.
Opinions on the Smart trade were generally positive, and Raymon and I were full of praise for GG and Slaw Dawgā€™s Summer League performances on the Chinese Grizzlies podcast. Missing Morant for 25 games meant we couldnā€™t secure home-court advantage like the past two years, but securing a play-in spot seemed reasonable. In an open Western Conference, all it took was a lucky playoff matchup, and a full-strength team could still achieve something.
Then Stevo was out for the season.
Unlike Morant's short-term impact on the record, this was a heavy blow to all remaining hope. I dejectedly said:
"No matter what, they canā€™t play like last year or even the year before, and they canā€™t find another Adams through trade or signing. The Grizzliesā€™ new season hasnā€™t even started, but it might already be over."
At this point, it was just three days before the season opener. The appearance of two black swans cast a shadow over the season before it even began.

Finding Joy in Suffering

The Grizzlies' first 25 games were like me trying to stand on a balance ball in the gym for the first timeā€”standing seemed not too difficult, but whenever I tried to squat, my legs started shaking uncontrollably, and most of the time, I fell off.
After five straight losses, the Grizzlies quickly signed the overlooked Biyombo and then played some decent games, but the injury wave followed one after another. At the most extreme, the Grizzlies had to use their paper-thin fourth point guardā€”Jacob Gilyard, who should have shined in the G Leagueā€”a player about my height and weight because Ja, Smart, and Rose were all injured.
https://preview.redd.it/zmk62bq3md1d1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ee1bbd1eda0ba13c4715fcf15391b5fdc67de32
To be fair, the Grizzlies showed resilience at that time. Facing the "BIG4 Clippers," the Grizzlies won their second game of the season on the road. Gilyard (6+5+3+3) held his own against Harden (11+4+3); against a full-strength Celtics, Aldama put up 28+12+6 and almost pulled off an upset; Bane dropped 49 points to lead a comeback win over the Pistons, scoring in the fourth quarter as much as Cunningham, Bojan, Duren, and Ivey combined.
The Grizzlies could keep up with most paper-strong teams and even come back from 15-20 points down but usually lost in the final moments. Bane took on an overwhelming offensive load, being the only consistent scorer, three-point shooter, and transition player, but he mostly held up; JJJ was often forced to play the five, which he disliked, making both offense and defense awkward and inefficient. As for the untested young players, they rarely held the ball securely in the fourth quarter.
With a 6-19 record, second-to-last in the West, trailing the play-in zone by more than five games; Baneā€™s performance was the teamā€™s lone standout, determining both the floor and ceiling; aside from JJJ, Aldama, and Roddy, almost no one was healthy. The Grizzliesā€™ net rating still ranked higher than their record, their defensive efficiency remained in the top ten, but they couldnā€™t score.

A Brief Spring

December 20ā€”just an ordinary game day, but Grizzlies fans had been waiting almost four months. The Pelicans, with their formidable build, werenā€™t an ideal opponent after a long layoff, but Morant loved such games. He probed in the first two quarters and then started showcasing his signature gliding layups and near-basket floaters in the third. He almost blew past every defender, gesturing "too small" to Alvarado, laying it up over defensive player Herbert Jones. On the final play, he drove from the backcourt, bypassed the screen, and floated a shot over Jones, Murphy, and Danielsā€”off the backboard, into the basket, buzzer beater.
This was Morantā€™s first career buzzer-beater. Interestingly, after the shot, even the Grizzlies players on the court paused for a second before realizing they had won, with Bane even freezing at the three-point line.
I understand Bane. In the first 25 games, the Grizzlies didnā€™t have such clutch play; this was a moment where a superstar wielded his superpower.
https://preview.redd.it/ivoxez05md1d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=88313b44ea6967be3578b9d99f8eadcbd450a207
Morant posted the highest points for a player returning after missing more than 25 games in history, but more thrilling for fans was that the Grizzlies truly became competitive. They quickly won four in a row, beating the hot Haliburton, Trae, and Wemby, and winning twice against the Pelicans on the road. Bane and JJJ were in great form, and Smartā€™s fourth-quarter lockdown on Ingram was impressive.
With the return of injured players, we began to calculate and discuss the Grizzlies' playoff prospects. Morant caught the flu and missed one game, played poorly in the next twoā€”nothing to say as I was also down with the fluā€”recovered, and then convincingly defeated Bron and ADā€™s Lakers on the road. Smart scored 29 points (including a ton of threes), Morantā€™s scattered scoring and assists, JJJ turned into Curry, and Bane turned the arena into a library with a series of off-the-dribble threes in the fourth quarter. After the game, Nemo and JJJ sat on the scorerā€™s table for an ESPN interview: "Youā€™re making a playoff push, whatā€™s your plan?"
https://preview.redd.it/mddc8fv8md1d1.png?width=2182&format=png&auto=webp&s=865924dab3881c277783c53a5f40acf1a53504b3
Jaren smiled lightly, and Nemo said, "Keep playing like this, 48 minutes of relentless effort every night, execute our signature defense, move the ball, and everyone being on point. Tonight, we had many guys scoring 20+, like Z. Keep this up, and weā€™ll be dangerous."
We didnā€™t see Nemo play again; a few days later, he was diagnosed with a torn labrum and was out for the season; two games later, Smart dislocated his finger and was out for the season; another two games, Bane went down, and the season was over.

The Dawn

Just two weeks after hope reignited, it was extinguished. What was left to see this season? I believe every Grizzlies fan asked themselves this question. At this point, you have to appreciate the basketball gods; when they close one door, they really do open another.
ā€”ā€”Back on December 1, with no one available, TJ put Vince Williams into the rotation. As last yearā€™s 47th pick, his rookie year saw no meaningful time, mainly playing in the G League. In the limited effective game sample, we considered him a wing ā€œshooterā€ who couldnā€™t handle the ball or defend wellā€”he hadnā€™t even shot well in Summer League.
In his first effective NBA game, Vince scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, adding nine rebounds. He stayed on in the fourth quarter, impressively defending Irving. The Grizzlies secured their fifth win of the season.
Ten days later, facing the Mavericks again, this time he had to guard Luka, averaging 34 points. No one expected him to complete the task, nor should he, but he did greatā€”the Grizzlies almost erased a 17-point deficit, forcing Luka to 4-of-12 shooting in the second half. They even exchanged trash talk during the game, but after the game, Luka said:
"I think heā€™s a great defender."
When Luka Doncic calls you a "great" defender, you must be a "very, very, very great" defender.
https://preview.redd.it/6jn2grnbmd1d1.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=566c59c5549e34a61c450230a88500215b38de49
Vince started the next game. Although he had some ups and downs briefly after Morantā€™s return, he quickly adjusted. He scored 19+9 against the Sunsā€™ big three, limiting Durant; next time facing Luka, he won again (Luka 9-of-21); he scored 24+7 against the Warriors, winning, and in the win over the Heat, he outperformed Butler (25 points, JB 15 points).
Just as we were marveling at his offensive and defensive performances, his pre-All-Star break streak showed us even more potential.
Starting from February 8 against the Bulls, he averaged 14+7+8+2 steals over five consecutive games, including an 18+12+7 performance against Lillard/Giannisā€™ Bucks. He limited Lillard to 7-of-21 shooting and helped disrupt Lillardā€™s three-point attempt in the final moments.
What, Vince can also moonlight as a point guard?
The Grizzlies converted his contract in January to a three-year, $7.9 million deal with an option. Considering his versatility and level of play, this contract is so low itā€™s almost insulting. But if you think thatā€™s exaggerated, wait, thereā€™s more.
https://preview.redd.it/wjpaxgqcmd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=0352543f4be22abad934a7d796e6968d91e40156
ā€”ā€”When GG Jackson was drafted, few Grizzlies fans who knew about him were optimistic. Their reasons were solid: GG wasnā€™t even 19 when drafted, too young; he skipped a grade to play a dismal season at South Carolina, shooting 38%, looking like a chucker; he had publicly criticized teammates, posing a locker room cancer risk.
These might be true, but I only learned about him after he was draftedā€”watching him tearfully talk to ZK on a call, watching his college highlight reels showcasing his versatile offensive skills and confidence, his enviable physique, these on-court aspects captivated me. I followed his performance throughout Summer League, and his smooth catch-and-shoot and diligent defensive footwork made me even more optimistic about his future.
At the time, I was probably the only one publicly praising him. I voiced my support in every platform I hadā€”podcasts, Weibo, even the comment section of the pay raise public account: Check out GG! He has a chance to enter the rotation!
For the first half of the season, he barely played, putting up numbers in the G League. On January 13, 2024, with Nemo, Bane, and Smart all out, TJ had no choice but to put GG into the rotation, giving him 27 minutes.
In his first effective NBA game, GG scored 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting; the next game against the Warriors, 23 points. He became the second-youngest in history to score 20+ in consecutive games, only behind Bronā€”TNTā€™s crew warmly greeted him on national television:
Shaq: "I have nothing to say; I just want to congratulate you: now people know who you are."
https://preview.redd.it/a22gjp4emd1d1.png?width=2248&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a59bc946a230ddb2108716ff9253ecc05c6592f
GG looked both excited and nervous, reminding me of my freshman year. This is the genuine reaction of a kid this age when theyā€™ve done something remarkable and are publicly praised for it.
This wasnā€™t the last time. With Vince injured, GG became my sole motivation to watch the last third of the season. In 42 effective games, he averaged 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds, hitting 36% of his shots, averaging 2.4 three-pointers per game. He scored 20+ in 12 games, 30+ in three, and posted 44+12 against a full-strength Nuggets in the final game.
If GG had entered the rotation earlier, could he have made the All-Rookie First Team? Quite possibly, as heā€™s a natural scorer who excels in big moments and national broadcasts (how rare is this for the youngest player in the league?). His other contributions in games were limited, but considering the Grizzliesā€™ environment, their league-worst offense, the pressure he faced, and the difficulty of his scoring might have been greatly underestimated.
GG dropped 31 points against a full-strength Lakers, almost the only player able to initiate scoring, making a top-five play dunk over Rui Hachimura. How many All-Rookie votes will he get?
https://preview.redd.it/7obss9rfmd1d1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=dbe5d862cf5b5ca1ace44b70eabd533933563b5d
Two experts stood with me: ESPNā€™s Bobby Marks placed GG in his All-Rookie Second Team a week ago, and The Ringerā€™s Bill Simmons said he would vote GG for Rookie of the Year in a podcast two days ago. Regardless, GG has earned respect.
And for Grizzlies fans, even better news is that the team converted his contract to a four-year, $8.5 million deal with a fourth-year team option in February. As a Reddit Grizzlies fan put it, "This is Pippen contract level theft."
Vince and GG, two second-round picks, played convincingly in ways no one expected. The Grizzlies have locked them in on affordable long-term contracts for at least three years, and they will undoubtedly be key rotation or even starting players for the Grizzlies next seasonā€”what did the Grizzlies trade to acquire them? Zero.

Praying to the Basketball Gods

Though Grizzlies fans' moods might be 1,000 times better than three months ago, this remains a completely wasted season. For a young team that matched up against the champions two years ago, this isnā€™t good. The Grizzlies still have plenty of draft picks, but their salary cap is tight. Their core 3 is still young and talented, but two other young core teamsā€”at least the Timberwolves and Thunderā€”are ready. The Grizzlies are nowhere near their position two years ago.
But this "wasted" season allowed them to eliminate many wrong options and secure several key players. Even if the offseason only brings an average starting center, their roster strength is very, very solid (I donā€™t think any current team could consistently beat a healthy 2024 Grizzlies). They maintained high defensive levels, forced turnovers, and blocks with many non-NBA players, and they possess better three-point shooting than the past two years. They can replicate the 2022 season's performance, and thatā€™s a conservative estimate.
https://preview.redd.it/xxiop63hmd1d1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=951528875c8ab351023e1f588ad3837f4c0d6661
But can they stay healthy? In 2022, Dillon played only 32 games and was out of sorts in the playoffs, with Morant also injured midway; in 2023, key players were in and out, losing inside reserves to the Lakers in a seven-game upset; this year, the entire team suffered the worst injury wave in NBA history. Like the Clippers in recent years, injuries are the easiest topic to discuss without being wrong because no one can control them, and they always happen.
So, I can only pray to the basketball gods: it canā€™t get worse than this. I desperately want to see a fully healthy Morant-Bane-Jaren Grizzlies team play a playoff series, even if they are easily beaten by a better team. I donā€™t want to look back years later and be left with a pile of "what ifs."

2024.05.19 14:36 _meesh__ Sizing with LE Wilson neck sizing bushing die / arbor press

Howdy,
I've been using the LE Wilson seating die in conjunction with my K+M arbor press and am absolutely in love with the setup. Wanted to see if users have had a similar experience with sizing. I'm still new to reloading and still don't quite understand the trade offs between neck sizing and full length sizing.

2024.05.19 14:32 Bagzbannco Need Advice on situation regarding warranty repair.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to hear the unbiased opinion of people that know a thing or two about guitars because in this situation I donā€™t know if I am in the right or not.
I donā€™t think I will be able to be concise, no TLDR because the details matter, sorry.
Hereā€™s the deal:
Bought a 7 string in February (ESP LTD H3 1007 baritone, ā‚¬1200).
At first I didnā€™t have access to my recording equipment and only played it either acoustically or with an old Zoom pedalboard and headphones. Everything seemed fine but didnā€™t spend much time with it. Action was too high and lowering it introduced too much fret buzz.
In the first days of March I finally had the chance to record with it and noticed heavy fret buzz in the output sound (even using a reasonable distortion created a mess, no crazy high-gain) and some choked notes higher on the fretboard. The action was noticeably higher than my other guitars. It was almost impossible for me to play cleanly.
(note that for some days I thought that I was the problem, since I havenā€™t been playing for a couple of months and that was my first 7 string)
Inspecting the guitar closely, I noticed that the nut was cut very high, partially explaining my inability to play cleanly. Plus I didnā€™t quite like the factory 10-59 string set that came with it: too little tension on the bottom strings and too much for the top ones (the high E broke the first few days with a simple full tone bending around the 15th fret, not the right gauge for a 27ā€ scale length imo).
Nothing that a nice professional setup canā€™t fix, I thought.
(Unfortunately, not anticipating the issue that was about to arise, I didnā€™t save any recordings documenting the state of the guitar before going to the luthier. Lesson learnt)
So, I brought it to a luthier. We decided that it was best to approach the problem step by step, instead of doing everything at once.
1- First he would change the strings (I opted for a 9.5-64 set) and do a basic setup WITHOUT making changes to the nut, just in case I didnā€™t like the new set of strings. If the buzzing remains, then we go to the more expensive step 2.
2- Nut filing and fret height adjustment.
After step 1 everything was the same: very noticeable fret buzz and choked notes.
I decided to contact Thomannā€™s assistance before step 2.
Why? I realised that the root of the problem was more serious than I originally thought. The luthier told me that he couldnā€™t guarantee that the additional work would fix everything so he advised me to contact Thomann before spending ā‚¬200 on fret leveling.
For a ā‚¬1200 guitar you would expect that the fretwork would be good, am I wrong?
I explained the situation to the assistance team in detail with the original state of the guitar in mind, thus forgetting to mention the work done by the professional (I know, my bad. I specified it after their first response from them) and included a recording of the fret buzz (direct input from a Focusrite scarlett straight to pro tools, with and without distortion).
Upon hearing the recording (that was done after the luthier setup) they reached out to confirm that, indeed, the fret buzz was intrusive.
When they received the guitar (March 22nd and it's still with them to this day) they told me the following (translated in English by me):
ā€œOur relevant department informed us that the string gauge was changed to 10-65/66 from 10-59 without doing a bridge setup*. This caused the neck to warp and damage to the nut slots. In this case there is no warranty coverage [ā€¦]ā€*
I was very disappointed whit this response.
So having just the strings changed by a professional is enough to void the 2 year legal warranty?
I contacted a lawyer friend of mine to help me write a legally solid answer.
In short, we stated that the setup has been done by a professional, the (plastic) nut was left untouched and the truss rod and bridge were set properly; having done everything in good will and within what is considered standard maintenance, I claim to be entitled to have the guitar fixed under the 2 year Legal Warranty.
Eventually they sent some photos that only proved that the nut was damaged (I was very surprised to see it) but nothing to assess the neck warp. (I will include the photo in this post).
Although the nut slot on the 7th string was proven to be damaged, I claim that it is only a minor aesthetic issue because it does not interfere with its function. If the damage was significant enough it would lead to some buzzing on the open string, right? However, the open 7th string sounded clean even after the visit to the luthier. I also never claimed that I had problems with open string buzzing in my support request, only with fretted notes, and never asked for a nut repaisubstitution. Regarding the neck warp, isn't it completely reversibile ? Why is it mentioned as if it was a warranty-voiding condition? I would get it if it had been shaped into a noodle with a hammer, but when I had it in my hands it was almost straight.
I believe that the ideal way to fix the guitar is a PLEK setup to level the frets and adjust the action because everything suggests that the root of all these problems are the uneven frets. Unfortunately, in their last email they still maintain their first opinion (reported above in this post) and told me this:
ā€œWe can offer you a setup at your expense or we can send the guitar back. There is no way that you can get a free plek setup [ā€¦]. We ask you to be concise and definitive in the next email. Further emails that do not offer a definitive answer will be ignored and the guitar will be sent back in the current conditions.ā€
Basically, they made it impossible for me to keep defending my case after only 2 emails of mine (one addressing their initial report and one after they disappointingly responded repeting the same things). It also feels like they didnā€™t even bother to fully read those emails since they never elaborated on my lawyerā€™s valid points.
I honestly donā€™t know what to do and feel hopeless.
Iā€™d like to hear your opinions; I genuinely canā€™t tell if I messed up. I feel like I have done everything correctly, I doubt that the nut slot damage is the luthierā€™s fault. Here are a few questions for you now that you know the whole situation.
- Do you think Iā€™m in the wrong?
- Do you think that a plastic nut can get damaged like that by the strings alone?
- Do you think that asking for a setup under warranty to fix bad fretwork for a ā‚¬1200 guitar is arrogant and that uneven frets are to be expected ?
Thank you for your time and patience, sorry again for the lengthy post.

2024.05.19 14:30 bhuether What to put as filmback in UE when using camera like GH5 in 4K mode?

I have a scene from my GH5. It is MFT camera, but I had read when shooting 4K it crops vertically. So while the sensor size is 17.3 mm x 13 mm, seems the camera doesn't use full height.
When I do camera solve in SynthEyes, it let me specify 17.3 mm for width, and it then set height to 9.7 mm.
It also estimated focal length as 15mm.
Now, in UE, if I choose MFT lens type, and specify 17.3 mm width, it automatically sets height to 13 mm. If I change the height, it then switches to custom lens type. Then there are crop settings.
This is where I am a bit confused. In SynthEyes documentation, it says that if you specify sensor size, it should be actual size regardless of resulting crop. But in SynthEyes I never figured out how to specify that 4:3 sensor size and end up with 16:9 image, because it seems to not let me choose non 1:1 pixel aspects.
In any case, how should I specify things in UE? Should I just make sure everything is same as in SynthEyes?
thanks

2024.05.19 14:28 New_Button_3843 Mousse makes hair greasy

Hey all, trying to work out how to get curls to last longer. My hair is fine, wavy, gets greasy every 3 days and bra length. I usually use the JVN styling milk, from about my neck down and brush it through, and then have tried adding mousse at various stages:
Iā€™ve tried the bumble thickening full form soft mousse and the john Frieda frizz ease curl mousse and have tried from the roots down (I think when I move the airwrap around the mousse spreads to my roots a bit more? And from the neck down and by the next morning my the curls would have dropped and gotten a bit knotty and on my head will greasy and a bit flat. Iā€™d welcome any solutions to try.

Does anyone know what the full length of a bass VI is because I want to buy it but a salesman told me it is the same size as a normal electric guitar (99cm) but online I find some different measurements.
I want to find a good gig bag for the guitar but I don't want it to be too small or too big. Can someone help me out please?

2024.05.19 14:21 Famous-Slice1843 Current News Regarding Erythritol Safety

(Excerpt from "Nature Medicine". Official study title: "The artificial sweetener erythritol and cardiovascular even trisk".)
There's been a lot of discussion recently regarding the potentially unsafe use of a very popular artificial sweetener known as "Erythritol". As humans, we typically dislike any information which may require us to change our habits/behaviors or stop using products we enjoy. As a result, it is very common to immediately dismiss a report containing negative or dangerous findings about the use of such products. When it was announced that tobacco may be causing heart attacks/strokes/artery disease, MILLIONS of people refused the results because they really enjoyed smoking (myself included). I have been using Erythritol for a few years. I love how potent it is, how it tastes, and how it has no effect on diabetes-related issues. To stop using Erythritol would be a major inconvenience for me, so I do not enjoy discovering the product may actually be very dangerous. I've provided the opening paragraph to the ACTUAL study that was recently conducted on the effects of Erythritol. PLEASE -- disregard the incredibly irresponsible reports that the study only consisted of 8 people or that it only included obese, old men. There were a few thousand participants involved in the study of all ages and body types/status. The full article could not be published here but seems to be available through various sites (the actual article requires access to "nature medicine", and the official name of the study is "The artificial sweetener erythritol and cardiovascular event risk". It's a long, boring read, but it contains the actual facts of the study. The main point of the finding is: Our bodies reaction to the product Erythritol is causing SUBSTANTIALLY increased platelet production (blood clots). These clots are flowing to the brain/heart and immediately triggering a stroke or heart attack. These reactions are NOT a result of age or physical condition. Anyone at any age with narrow arteries/capillaries or a reduced circulatory system can suffer one of these clots. It is a fact that, those in poor physical condition or those individuals over the age of 50 are more likely to experience adverse reactions to blood clots. However, not every blood clot results in a stroke or heart attack. Young people with poor eating habits or pre-diabetes (1 in 3 Americans) can simply suffer a loss of circulation to a limb or organ. At any rate, blood clots are very dangerous and deserve our attention.
(Abbreviated using "...." for length only)
"Artificial sweeteners are widely used sugar substitutes, but little is known about their long-term effects on cardiometabolic disease risks. Here we examined the commonly used sugar substitute erythritol and atherothrombotic disease risk. In initial....studies in patients undergoing cardiac risk assessment (1,157) circulating levels of multiple polyol sweeteners, especially erythritol, were associated with incident (3 year) risk for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE; includes death or nonfatal myocardial infarction or stroke). Subsequent targeted metabolomics analyses in independent US (2,149) and European (833) validation cohorts of stable patients undergoing elective cardiac evaluation confirmed this association......(with 95% confidence). At physiological levels, erythritol enhances platelet reactivity.....blood clotting. Finally, in a prospective pilot intervention study..... erythritol ingestion in healthy volunteers (8) induced marked and sustained (>2 d) increases in plasma erythritol levels well above thresholds associated with heightened platelet reactivity and thrombosis potential in in vitro and in vivo studies. <---(This is the group of "8" people which are constantly being mentioned---it was just an "on the way out the door" test to quickly study one final means of comparison, but is obviously NOT a significant part of the study) Our findings reveal that erythritol is both associated with incident Major Adverse Cardiac Event risk and fosters enhanced.... thrombosis (blood clotting). Studies assessing the long-term safety of Erythritol are warranted".

2024.05.19 14:15 1000andonenites ā€œMay your next girlfriends all become fatter than Melissa McCarthy, and uglier than Boris Karloff!ā€

Lisaā€™s last words to me before she stormed off echoed in my mind, as I looked at a miserable Ayesha, staring at herself in the full-length mirror in her bedroom.
ā€œI donā€™t understandā€ Ayesha muttered. She turned to me, and I couldnā€™t help wincing at the sight of her full fleshy eyebrow shelf jutting over her once-beautiful eyes.
ā€œDo I look fat?ā€
Of course I knew the correct answer, and of course she wasnā€™t convinced by my obvious lie. Tears of rage and misery began pouring from her eyes. Desperately I said ā€œMaybe you need to get it checked out- it could be your thyroid?ā€ I knew it wasnā€™t her thyroid.
She raised her head, pausing her sobs. ā€œDo you think?ā€ she gasped eagerly.
I didnā€™t think. ā€œYes!ā€ I answered. And then I continued cautiously, inching towards the door, ā€œItā€™s just- you know I have this big project coming on- I canā€™t support you like you need, you deserve so much better- ā€œ
ā€œYouā€™re breaking up with me because I put on a few pounds?ā€ The rage and agony came crashing back ten-fold. But I had been through this before. This, I could deal with. Plus, it wasnā€™t just a few pounds. Lisa was nothing if not accurate with her spells.
I regretted dating her so much. Why couldnā€™t she be a normal girl, key my car, rip our sheets, that sort of thing when she found out I had slipped and cheated? No- she had to go full-on Morgana.
Dodging Ayeshaā€™s tirade expertly, I ran. If she had calmed down on a bit, I could have explained to her that she should be happy ā€“ once we stopped dating, her face and figure would go back to her old self, and she wouldnā€™t look like a fat Frankenstein.
At least, I thought so? I wasnā€™t actually sure. None of the girls I had dated since Lisa seemed to want to hear from me, but I had glimpsed a woman who looked like Mary had looked, before I started dating her, in the local supermarket, and I heard through the grapevine that Mark was dating Mei. He was even more particular about looks and weight. So it made sense that she had also reverted back to her pre-dating-me looks, otherwise Mark would not have touched her with the proverbial ten-foot pole.
Poor Mei. I genuinely felt sorry for her- she told me her family disowned once she started packing the pounds. Hopefully that was sorted out too now.
I flopped in my armchair, safe and sound, and took a deep breath. Ah well. Funnily enough, I still missed Lisa, she was so fun, so inventive. Pity about the temper.
Remembering her bedroom antics, I pulled out my phone. I had hidden the Tinder icon while dating Ayesha, of course, but now I pulled it up comfortably, and began swiping.

2024.05.19 14:00 Superfan51239 Editing Issue with No End House Spotify Upload? [Minor Spoilers]

I noticed thereā€™s no YouTube upload for the episode as of now but I donā€™t mind, I also listen to the episodes on Spotify too. I saw the ~1.5 hour episode length and assumed it was a shorter story (the way the story was going I assumed it was going to be a quick episode) but something was off in the story. The character was going through Room 7, then Isaiah went to get his dog, then the character was done with the house? Werenā€™t there 9 rooms in the No End House? Then the main character comes home and suddenly he sees his brutally dead parents, which Hunter and Isaiah said the guy witnessed in the No End House? Is something off about this upload? I know (at least for me) the Spotify upload had an issue with the 1999 episode; it ended about halfway through, midway through Isaiahā€™s sentence. Anyone else notice that? Iā€™m hoping the YouTube upload, whenever that comes out, will be the full story, unless I missed something

2024.05.19 13:55 Trustmeimtheninja New Member: Objects Are Calling to Me

Disclaimer: I'm not new to paranormal/spiritual experiences, but I'm extremely self taught. I'm looking for honest feedback and I'm aware that there are gaps in my exposure to many concepts.
Thank you for even opening this post! I tend to info dump and end with huge posts. I'm going to avoid that the best I can, but I'll probably fail. (P.s. I failed)
TLDR: Scroll down to the ">>>"
I'm 35 and I've just started using object to focus my intuition.
I was driving home the other day and saw a brown deck of cards flash in my minds eye. It was sitting on the 2nd lowest shelf of a store. I asked Google to take me to the nearest store that sold tarot cards and I found an oracle deck sitting in that spot. My wife had given me a tarot deck about a month ago, and they really matched. My readings have been extremely successful. I'm still trying to get used to not rejecting what I intuitively know.
The same type of calling happened for my first quartz crystals. Long story, but I've started feeling static across the backs of my hands when I'm around something powerful. To the point that I can start driving and follow it where I'm being called.
I randomly saw a finger length white crystal in a transparent brown cylinder. I was able to locate the store at the mall by my house, but I had a really hard time walking into the store. I walked in and was greeted by a nice staff member, but things felt wrong. I followed the static in my right hand until it moved over a hurt quartz laser wand (I learned what it was because of the sticker on it).
The store was full of sharply cut crystals and this one was just hurting. It was like it was screaming to me. I picked it up and promised that I wouldn't put it back. I went to buy it and the staff member took out something and moved to "cleanse" it. I recoiled and pulled the crystal away. I felt the crystals feelings and it was like it said it would be willing to cleanse the staff member, but that it rejected their empty efforts. Of course, I didn't say that to them.
I explained that I would do my own cleansing, which they really looked at me like I was nuts. I thought this was odd because it's a legitimate crystal/spiritual/psychic store and people probably have their own preferences. I can't be the first one to say I'd like to do the cleansing personally.
I wish I could post a photo of the crystal and His brother.
.>.>
My main reason for posting this is because I just got called into a thrift store where I walked up to a crystal ball. It was $4.99 and when I held my hand over it, it was like licking a 9V battery. My hand has never felt that intense of a reaction.
The crystal ball looks like glass with gold leaf/foil on the inside. There is a base that appears to be made of ceramic and has the initials "JI" (ji) pressed into the bottom of it. I bought it, but now I have no clue what to do with it. So far, I've intuitively known what to do with most things through my life, but this one feels foreign to me. Maybe because it feels so powerful/vocal.
To clarify, I don't feel afraid or threatened and "cautious" doesn't really cover it. It's more like I'm walking on ground that I don't know how to respect. Is there anything I should be aware of when working with an object like this? In the past, anything that I've connected with has always been chill with me just explaining my intentions and going from there.
Again, thank you for reading! Any thoughts about this will be considered deeply.

2024.05.19 13:44 Tronicalli What's your ideas for pyro traveler?

So I'm making this post because I got really into making this idea I had for him so I thought id share it, and maybe ask what other people think it might be. Anyways, here's my idea;
NA:
CA:
E skill: Flaming flurry
Burst: Aura of violence
A1: Heat sink
A4: Up to 11
C1 - increase all temperature gauge gains by 10%.
C2 - Enemies burned by the pyro laserbeam or heat sink passive gave their DEF decreased by 20%.
C3 - NA boost
C4 - Increases the effects of "up to 11". Now reads: Thr pyro laser beam deals 80% increased damage and drains the temperature gauge 60% faster.
C5 - Burst boost (leveling the burst increases its AoE and duration)
C6 - Aura of violence now works with all elemental types, and further reduces the enemy's elemental & physical resistance by 15% as well as cuts their DEF stat by 70%.

2024.05.19 13:35 MrRichardMary I donā€™t like the green wall for full length videos.

I donā€™t know if this is stupid but they feel like podcast bros when itā€™s a green wall video. I donā€™t mind it for the limited stuff, but the yellow wall format feels like a panel show. Itā€™s so much more fun in my opinion. Am I crazy or does something feel different when itā€™s a green wall vid? Like theyā€™re off the henny or something. What do you guys think?

šŸ”—Premium Handcrafted Red Bone Pocket Knife: Tru-Sharp Steel Blade and Old Red Bone Handle

https://preview.redd.it/6sh58w3ucd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ee28b99d5c01bf7cfe850eda426db3c63bf530b
For a while, I've been using the Case Medium Stockman, a streamlined, heritage-inspired pocket knife. With its impressive three-blade design, it offers versatility and practicality. The clippoint, 5.0 cm sheepfoot, and the legendary Spey-blade each have their distinct uses. Its unique dual lock-spring blades make it a legal carry within the UK, adding to its convenience.
What struck me the most about this pocket knife was its impeccable craftsmanship. Since the turn of the century, this knife's creators have been hand-assembling each Case creation, ensuring a degree of individuality. These collectible knives not only embody the spirit of American craftsmanship, but they also become a valuable addition to any EDC collection.
However, one downside I noticed was the durability of the "Case" wording. It seems to have started peeling out. Additionally, a few reviewers mentioned issues with rust occurring on knives that they had not previously experienced.
Despite the hiccups, the overall quality of this pocket knife at its given price point is commendable. In terms of design, the blend of the Tru-Sharp SS steel blade with the sophisticated Old Red Bone handle gives the knife a truly luxurious feel. This makes it not only a functional tool, but also a significant statement piece to showcase.
In essence, the Case Medium Stockman, with its classic design and exceptional performance, is a must-have - not just for knife aficionados but for anyone who appreciates fine American craftsmanship. It's a product that has a special place in my heart and daily life.

šŸ”—Beautiful Navy Blue Bone Stockman Pocket Knife

I recently tried out the Navy Blue Bone Stockman Pocket Knife, and I must say, I was impressed. From the moment I took it out of the package, the quality was apparent. The handle, made of jigged bone with a Tru-Sharp SS blade, felt comfortable in my hand, and the blue color added a nice touch to its appearance.
One of the best features of this knife is its versatility. The 6.5 cm blade is just the right length for everyday tasks and can easily be carried in my pocket. The weight, at 65 grams, is also perfectly manageable. It's perfect for everyday use and outdoor adventures.
While I loved the knife's construction, sharpness, and size, there was one thing that bothered me. The knife was delivered by a less-than-ideal shipping method, which caused it to be placed in my neighbor's mailbox instead of mine. I would have preferred it if the shipping was more streamlined and the knife was delivered directly to my doorstep.
Overall, I'm really happy with my Navy Blue Bone Stockman Pocket Knife. It's well-crafted, functional, and a great addition to my collection of everyday carry items.

šŸ”—Premium-Quality Case Tru-Sharp Skinning Knife with Jigged Bonestag Handle

I've had the pleasure of using the Case Sod Buster Jr 6.5 Bonestag Pocket Knife for quite some time now, and it never fails to impress me. The true highlight of this knife is its genuine bone handle, which boasts honey and amber hues, making it an elegant accessory to carry every day. The jigged bonestag handle has been both beautifully crafted and hand-flamed, giving it that authentic stag antler vibe.
One of the features I appreciate the most is the miniature size of this knife compared to the traditional Sod Buster. Despite being smaller, it doesn't sacrifice any durability. It's perfect for those everyday tasks or taking it on hunting trips. The Skinner blade has found its place in skinning purposes, but it's also adaptable for other duties.
The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blade has proven to be exceptional in holding its edge longer than conventional steels, offering both blade strength and corrosion resistance. This pocket knife can handle anything the day throws at you, whether it's at home, in the wilderness, or during a hunting expedition. And, the added convenience of it being made and crafted in the USA is an appreciable bonus.
Now, let's talk about the user reviews. Majority of the users have been impressed with the knife and gave it high praises, appreciating its sharpness, size, and overall performance. However, one user rated it 3, but they only mentioned it as a good knife for the price they bought it at, which was for Christmas gifts.
In conclusion, the Case Sod Buster Jr 6.5 Bonestag Pocket Knife has been a reliable and stylish addition to my daily life. Its unique design and functionality make it stand out among the crowd, and I highly encourage people who appreciate a well-crafted knife to give it a try. While there may be some minor downsides, the good clearly outweighs them.

šŸ”—Case Orange Trapper Skinning Knife with Clip and Spey Blades

I've been using this Case Orange Synthetic Trapper for a few weeks now, and I must say, it's a pretty great everyday pocket knife. The peach seed jigged Bermuda green bone handle gives it a lovely, unique look, while the two full-length blades ā€“ the clip blade and the spey blade ā€“ offer versatility. These blades are constructed using Case's Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel, which provides outstanding edge retention, blade strength, and corrosion resistance.
One downside is its relatively small size, but that also makes it a perfect choice for everyday pocket carry. I've used it for small projects around the house, hunting trips, and even for some basic food prep. It's a bit of a finger-killer when you're trying to fold and unfold it, but that's something I can easily get over because of its other features. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this Case Orange Synthetic Trapper, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great pocket knife.

The Case Amber Bone Stockman is a versatile, highly practical pocket knife that easily fits into your pocket for everyday use. I've been using this knife for carving, carpentry work, and even skinning game, and it has proven to be an essential tool in my collection.
One feature that stands out for me is the Tru-Sharp stainless steel construction, which significantly enhances blade strength and corrosion resistance. The three different blades also offer great versatility, with the clip blade suited for multi-purpose tasks, the sheepfoot blade perfect for carving, and the spey blade being an all-round utility blade.
However, a potential downside may be the relatively thin back springs, making it easier for blades to open and close, which can be an issue for those who prefer a tighter locking mechanism.
Overall, the Case Amber Bone Stockman is a high-quality, well-designed pocket knife that provides excellent value for its price. Perfect for those who appreciate the classic look and feel of a well-made, handcrafted knife.

As I unboxed this Case Trapper, its smooth Chestnut Bone Handle caught my eye, offering a visually appealing addition to my collection. Its Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel blades add a sense of dependability, promising to hold an edge longer than conventional steel. Hunting through my gear, I found the vibrant orange handles incredibly useful, helping me locate this knife easily when I'm outdoors.
The blades themselves are versatile, with the clip blade excelling in its versatility and the spey blade serving as an all-purpose utility blade. Its durability makes it a dependable companion for everyday carry, useful for projects around the house, the outdoors, and hunting. With its convenient packaging and being crafted in the USA, the Case Skinning Knife provides a great balance between quality and affordability. Overall, my experience has been delightful, as it combines both visual appeal and functionality.

Buyer's Guide

A case skinning knife is a versatile tool used by hunters and outdoors enthusiasts for various tasks, such as field dressing game animals, skinning, and cleaning. Selecting the right case skinning knife can greatly enhance your hunting experience. In this guide, we will discuss essential features to consider and general advice for purchasing a high-quality case skinning knife.

Blade Quality and Type

https://preview.redd.it/dulv733xcd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08c3cd26fb6f382a314450d96e98b41a10f6eb70
The blade of a case skinning knife is a critical factor, as it determines the knife's efficiency and effectiveness. Quality blades should be made of high-carbon steel or stainless steel, ensuring durability, sharpness, and corrosion resistance. A good case skinning knife typically features a 4-6 inch long blade, with a sturdy point and a thin, sharp edge for clean cuts. Consider the blade thickness, as it should be strong enough to withstand heavy use while remaining flexible for easier skinning.

Handle Materials

Handle materials play a vital role in grip, comfort, and resisting water or moisture. Look for case skinning knives with handles made of durable, water-resistant materials such as G-10, Micarta, or synthetic rubber. These materials provide a firm grip even when wet, which is essential for hunting scenarios.

Handle Size and Comfort

The handle size and comfort are essential factors to consider when selecting a case skinning knife, as they determine how well the knife fits your hand. A larger handle allows for a better grip, even during stressful situations. Ensure that the handle contours to your hand's shape and provides a comfortable grip without causing fatigue or blisters. If possible, handle the knife in-store or try a few out before purchasing.

Ergonomics and Blade Retention

Ergonomic design ensures that your case skinning knife fits your hand comfortably without causing strain or slipping. Look for knives with a finger guard or a textured thumb grip for added control. Blade retention is crucial, especially when skinning or cleaning animals in the field. Consider knives with a locking mechanism or lanyard loop to keep the blade secure when not in use.

Maintenance and Sharpening

To keep your case skinning knife in optimal condition, you must maintain and sharpen it regularly. Stainless steel blades require less maintenance than high-carbon steel ones; however, they are more susceptible to rust. Ensure your knife has a durable, rust-resistant coating and is stored and handled properly. Carry a sharpening stone or a diamond plate to keep your blade sharp and efficient.

Price Range and Warranty

https://preview.redd.it/0ykep92ycd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00d4c9bafff0173d082ae876bab0e463c7156761
Be aware of the price range for case skinning knives as it varies based on the manufacturer, materials, and additional features. While you don't need to break the bank, remember that cheaper knives may be of lower quality and lack essential features. Look for a warranty or guarantee that covers defects in materials or craftsmanship, ensuring peace of mind and long-lasting performance.

Brand Reputation and Customer Reviews

Before purchasing a case skinning knife, research the brand's reputation in the hunting community and read customer reviews. A reputable brand often offers high-quality products and excellent customer service. Reviews provide insight into the knife's performance, durability, and ease of use, helping you make an informed decision.
Selecting the right case skinning knife requires considering various factors, such as blade quality and type, handle materials and size, ergonomics, blade retention, maintenance, price range, warranty, brand reputation, and customer reviews. By taking these factors into account, you will be better equipped to choose a high-quality case skinning knife that suits your needs and enhances your hunting experience.

Recently, I came across a Case Knife Blue Bone Trapper, and I must say it's a gem. The vibrant orange synthetic handle made it easy to locate when I was outdoors, especially on my hunting trips. The clip and spey blades were incredibly versatile, making it an all-around useful tool for my projects around the house, outdoors, and hunting.
One of the standout features was the Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel blades, which held their edge much longer than conventional steel. Plus, the extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance added to the durability of this folding knife. It served as a great everyday pocket knife for me, and I found myself reaching for it often.
However, I did notice that the knife's closed length was slightly larger than I would have preferred for pocket carry. Also, the non-locking slip joint lock felt less secure compared to locking mechanisms. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Case Knife Blue Bone Trapper proved to be a reliable and beautiful addition to my collection.

šŸ”—Handcrafted Carbon Steel Knife with Dark Red Bone Handle

https://preview.redd.it/29po69wjbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51dc46cf756e55d62991b81c56c4cf0c9c9f95fd
I recently had the chance to use the Case XX USA - Small Congress Dark Red Bone CA31949 Carbon Steel knife in my daily life. The first thing that stood out to me was the carbon steel blade, which offered a sharp and sturdy cutting surface. The Dark Red Bone handle provided a comfortable and solid grip, perfect for various tasks.
One of the most impressive features of this knife was its handcrafted design, showcasing the artistry and attention to detail of the U. S. A. -based craftsmen who created it. The carbon steel sheepsfoot blade and pen blades were mirror finish, giving the knife an elegant and unique look. However, it's worth mentioning that the knife is not lightweight, as it weighs 1.2 oz.
While using it, I also noticed the nickel silver bolster(s) and the inlay shield, adding a touch of sophistication to this functional tool. The boxed packaging was an added bonus, making it a great gift for someone special.
Overall, I found this Case XX USA - Small Congress Dark Red Bone CA31949 Carbon Steel knife to be a high-quality and reliable tool. Its distinctive design and solid construction make it a worthwhile investment for those who value craftsmanship and durability in their cutting instruments.

šŸ”—Beautiful Navy Blue Bone Stockman Pocket Knife

https://preview.redd.it/f1q6zwckbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fd9cd53e57899855c1b36bbba96e05ca8db5013
It's well-crafted, functional, and a great addition to my collection of everyday carry items.

šŸ”—Yellow Mini Trapper Pocket Knife for Kids

Recently, I found myself using the CASE Mini Trapper pocket knife in my daily life. This versatile tool has made all the difference in my outdoorsy adventures, as it fits perfectly in the pocket and is easy to access when needed. The bright yellow handle really stands out, not only making it easy to spot in a backpack or bag but also adding a touch of personality to it.
I've noticed the knife has two full-length blades, the 'clip' blade and the 'spey' blade. The clip blade is perfect for detail work or cutting small items efficiently, while the spey blade is an all-purpose utility blade that can handle most tasks. The knife is constructed with the robust chrome vanadium steel, known for its excellent edge-holding ability and easy resharpening. Although the steel isn't as resistant to rusting as stainless steel, it adds to the knife's unique charm, making it a lifelong companion.
However, an aspect that I found less appealing was the susceptibility to potential rusting. While it may not be a deal-breaker for some, it's worth considering for those who plan to use the knife heavily or in humid environments. Nonetheless, its solid build, smooth operating mechanism, and durable construction make this pocket knife an undeniable staple in my kit. If you're looking for a reliable tool that adds a touch of style while still maintaining practicality, the CASE Mini Trapper pocket knife is worth a try.

šŸ”—Old Red Bone Case Hawkbill Knife for Everyday Use

https://preview.redd.it/y3ekeq2lbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea6624e11be0fd788cc9c63eaffb42d4d65560b7
I've been using the Case Trapper Pocket Worn Old Red Bone Knife for a while now, and I must say, it's a beauty. Every time I take it out of my pocket, I can feel the quality in my hands. The red bone handle is not only eye-catching but also provides a comfortable grip.
The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blades are another highlight - they're sharp and hold their edge really well. The knife is perfect for those who enjoy trapping and skinning small game, as it's lightweight and has both a Clip and a Spey blade.
However, there is one downside. The knife is quite large, which can be a bit inconvenient when carrying it around in your pocket. But overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. It's like having a piece of art with me at all times that also happens to be a useful tool.

šŸ”—Amber Jigged Bone Stockman Amber Bone Knife with CV-Carbon Steel Blades

https://preview.redd.it/vvmax3mlbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f17c182514a061f16dcbe3d9b5439c504af232b4
A couple of months ago, I decided to try out this Case Large Stockman Amber Bone pocket knife, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Firstly, the amber jigged bone handle not only adds an elegant touch but also provides a perfect grip. This knife was designed to serve many purposes, and it shines in each one.
The sheepsfoot blade was a game-changer for me, making it smooth and convenient to use, perfect for carving and getting those clean cuts. But the icing on the cake is the clip blade, which is incredibly versatile, coming in handy for all the everyday tasks around my place.
One thing that did catch me off guard was the resilience of the chrome vanadium steel used in making the blades. While some might worry about its susceptibility to rust and discoloration, I found it easy to sharpen and maintain.
The thing that I absolutely love about this pocket knife is its construction and build quality. It is solid, and it oozes class. However, if you're a fan of stainless steel, you might not appreciate this aspect as much.
In conclusion, I'd say this product is the epitome of quality and craftsmanship. It's an all-in-one knife that's both a collectible and a utility knife. Sure, it has its pros and cons, but the experience of using it outweighs any minor drawbacks. Would I recommend it? Absolutely!

šŸ”—Stained Glass Trapper Folding Knife with Natural Bone Handle

I recently had the pleasure of using this Case Trapper Angel Wings Folding Knife, and let me tell you, it's a beauty to behold! The stained glass angel wings on the handle make this knife truly unique. The natural bone handles, featuring a color wash and black definition, catch the light perfectly.
With a Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel blade, I found that this knife held its edge quite well and was surprisingly sturdy despite its lightweight build. The knife comes with both a Clip and a Spey blade, each serving a different purpose. The Clip is excellent for intricate tasks, while the Spey is versatile enough for any everyday use.
One particularly impressive aspect of this product is its construction with Case Tru-Sharp stainless steel. This material ensures the blade stays sharp for longer and offers impeccable corrosion resistance. The quality of this knife is evident from its handcrafted design in the United States.
In terms of packaging, the product arrives in a sleek black velvet box, perfect for storing and displaying the knife. Overall, my experience with this Trapper Angel Wings Folding Knife has been nothing short of delightful ā€“ a must-have addition to any enthusiast's collection.

šŸ”—Handcrafted Gray Bone Case SM Congress Jigged Bone Pocket Knife

https://preview.redd.it/fg3hujrmbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8073c912ee58c0889b5f888606310ef4dcc24623
I recently had the chance to try out the Case Small Congress Jigged Bone 58422, and let me tell you, it's quite a find. This little pocket knife is not only a perfect addition to my everyday carry, but it also has a unique charm to it.
The curved handle, made from gray bone, fits my hand nicely and gives a sturdy grip. The craftsmanship is evident in the way it was handcrafted in the United States ā€“ you can tell a lot of care and attention went into making this pocket knife.
The blade itself is made of carbon steel, which might seem a bit heavy for some, but I found it to be quite sharp and durable. It comes with two blades ā€“ a sheepsfoot, perfect for trimming hooves, and a pen blade for lighter work.
However, as much as I love this pocket knife, it's definitely not for everyone. Not only does it weigh a little more than other pocket knives, but the carbon steel blade might also be a bit of a risk when it comes to rust.
All in all, the Case Small Congress Jigged Bone 58422 is a fantastic choice for those who enjoy a traditional, compact pocket knife with a little extra heft and sharpness. But be sure to take proper care of it, and you'll be rewarded with a reliable and functional tool.

šŸ”—Premium Aesthetic Case Aquarius Corelon Trapper Knife

Recently, I had the chance to try out the Aquarius Trapper from W. R. Case & Sons, a premium American brand of handmade knives. This versatile pocket knife, crafted from the highest quality materials, instantly caught my attention with its durability and performance. Made by skilled artisans in the United States, it offers a wide range of features that make it a must-have for anyone in need of a reliable and durable tool.
One of the standout features of this Trapper knife is the Tru-Sharp surgical steel blades that provide excellent cutting capabilities. The clip and spey blades are a nice touch, offering versatility for different tasks. Additionally, the handles are made of durable Corelon Aquarius, which adds to the knife's overall durability and quality.
While I loved the attractive design and vibrant color options, I did notice that the knife seemed a bit prone to scratches when carried in my pocket. This prompted me to suggest that the manufacturer consider providing a cloth pouch to protect the knife during transportation. Overall, the Aquarius Trapper from Case Cutlery is an impressive tool, crafted with precision and care that makes it stand out among other pocket knives in the market.

šŸ”—Case 50954 Iraqi Freedom Knife: Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel and Natural Bone Handle

Imagine walking into a dimly lit room, the scent of old leather and polished steel lingering in the air. In one corner, nestled among antique weapons, you find a knife that instantly catches your eye. It's a Hawkbill Knife from the War Series, designed in the image of a classic Iraqi Freedom pattern.
The blade is made from Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel, a choice that ensures durability and precision. The handle, carved from natural bone, fits comfortably in the hand, a testament to the craftsmanship of its creators. Handcrafted in the United States, each knife bears the mark of its origin - a symbol of quality and pride.
With a closed length of 4.13 inches, this Hawkbill Knife is compact yet potent. The spey blades, mirror finish stainless clip, and nickel silver bolster showcase the attention to detail that has gone into its creation. As you hold it, the Iraqi Freedom handle embellishment stands out, a unique touch that adds a layer of depth to your experience.
Unfortunately, there are a few aspects that could be improved. The weight of the knife at 4.0 ounces might not be suitable for everyone. Moreover, the overall design may not appeal to all, but for those who appreciate the history and craftsmanship that goes into each piece, the Hawkbill Knife from the War Series is truly special.

šŸ”—Antique Bone Handle Hawkbill Pocket Knife

I've been using the Antique Bone Trapper for a few weeks now, and it's been quite a pleasure. The handle in jigged bone, with a rich, caramel brown tone, exudes an elegant, classic feel that makes you want to hold it and use it every day.
Plus, the Tru-Sharp SS blade adds durability and smoothness to cutting through tasks. However, I do wish the knife had been sharpened out of the box - just a bit of extra effort on my part before it could perform at its best.
Don't let this minor inconvenience deter you from trying it out. The Antique Bone Trapper is a fantastic addition to any collection or daily toolkit.

šŸ”—Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel Hawkbill Knife with Blue Bone Handle

https://preview.redd.it/17jzskmobd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa2352668a7c7181424c6f62c66d4bd9522f35af
I was intrigued by the Case XX 02845 SM Congress Blue Bone knives. The mirrored stainless steel blades and blue jigged bone handle were visually appealing. But the slipjoint lock was a bit unwieldy.
It took some practice to get the hang of it. The Tru-Sharp Surgical Steel blades held their shine for a reasonable amount of time, which was convenient. However, for a small knife with a 3-inch closed length, it lacked maneuverability in some situations.
Nevertheless, I appreciated the American craftsmanship that went into making this compact, pocket-friendly knife.

šŸ”—Case XX Trapper Knife: High-Quality, Custom-Made in the USA

https://preview.redd.it/8xdr9pwobd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb4f0959165a7352bf3932b58d6fa9c1a0205122
I recently had the chance to try out the Case XX Mulberry Synthetic 4254 Trapper. It's a handsome little knife, featuring a beautiful Mulberry synthetic handle that gives it a lovely, slightly textured grip. The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blades are quite sharp, and the spey blades are perfect for those who like a little added functionality.
One of the things I appreciated most about this knife is that it's handcrafted right here in the United States. The attention to detail is evident, from the mirror finish stainless clip to the nickel silver bolster. However, something I noticed that might be a drawback for some is its weight - at only 3.7oz, it's a pretty light knife in comparison to others.
Using this knife daily, I found it quite versatile and practical. But overall, the Case XX Mulberry Synthetic 4254 Trapper is a product that combines both beauty and functionality, making it stand out among its competitors in the market.

šŸ”—American-Made Mini Trapper Pocket Knife for USAF Enthusiasts

https://preview.redd.it/dtly2b9pbd1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f126e1ec8dda1b145022f9e7c22d91dbc9cafb63
I had the opportunity to test the Case 32402 Mini Trapper, a tiny pocket knife packed with impressive features. One of the highlights that stood out to me was the Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless Steel, which provided durable sharpness that lasted through various tasks.
The Navy Blue Synthetic Handle offered a comfortable, ergonomic grip, allowing me to navigate my way around the miniature knife with ease. In addition, it added a touch of style to the design, making it stand out.
However, I did experience a small disadvantage - the Mini Trapper's manual-open design made it a bit challenging to access and open with just one hand. Despite this minor inconvenience, I still found great value in the United States Air Force W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. 32402. One of the first things to consider is the materials used to make the knife. Good-quality knives are typically made from carbon steel, stainless steel, or high-carbon stainless steel. These materials provide durability, corrosion resistance, and sharpness. Consider the climate where you'll use the knife, as well as the type of objects you'll be cutting. Stainless steel may be a better choice if you live in a humid or salty environment. Meanwhile, high-carbon steel could be preferable for a more precise or versatile edge. Remember to check if the blade locks or unlocks securely when using it.

Design Features

There are several design features to consider when buying a Case Hawkbill Knife. A locking mechanism is essential for safety and ensuring that the blade remains closed when not in use. Popular locking mechanisms include friction locks and spring-loaded locks. Pay attention to the size and weight of the knife, as well as the design of the handle. Some handles are ergonomic for comfortable use, while others have built-in features for opening cans or bottles caps.

Brand Reputation

Another important aspect to consider is the brand reputation. Case has a long history of producing high-quality knives with excellent value for money. However, new brands or lesser-known manufacturers may offer excellent products as well. Research online reviews, customer testimonials, and manufacturer's warranty policies to ensure that you're getting a reliable and durable product.

Maintenance Tips

To extend the life of your Case Hawkbill Knife, proper maintenance is essential. Always clean the knife by wiping the blade with a cloth and removing any debris on the handle. To prevent rust, you should avoid submerging the knife in water or storing it in a humid area. Regularly re-lubricating the hinges and locking mechanism is also recommended. For the blade, sharpen or hone it as needed to maintain its cutting edge.

Price

The price of a Case Hawkbill Knife can vary based on factors such as materials, design features, and brand reputation. Shop around for the best deals and consider your budget when purchasing one. Remember that spending a bit more on a well-built knife may save you money in the long run by offering better durability and requiring fewer repairs or replacements.
