Quote for app design

2024.06.02 08:18 didsome1saybacon Quote for app design

Hello - I'm not sure if I should build this app or hire a dev to delegate this task to. To help me figure this out I am looking to get a quote for developing and launching a very simple app. I'm also looking to get an idea of what maintenance looks like for this app.
I have created high-fidelity prototypes and wireframes in Figma, and I have clear experience requirements defined in the Figma file. I have a defined scope of the app's capabilities and a roadmap for future updates and features. I'm a UX designer who is very comfortable collaborating with devs and adjusting my designs to accommodate the dev process. I get consistent feedback from devs and researchers that I'm very easy and fun to work with.
About the app:
It's essentially a very, very simple website that mostly has documentation/written information and photos. I could just make a responsive version of a website but I want my users to have it as a downloaded app on their phone or tablet. Would it make sense to have an app that just launches a mobile version of the website?
I've built multiple websites using WordPress and have entry-level coding skills (but it has been a HOT minute since I've written a line of javascript, HTML, or CSS). I've never launched an app working independently without a developer. I'm sure I could struggle through it. (I've downloaded some great resources on this subreddit to review tomorrow). I would like to see what a realistic quote would look like before I decide on my next steps forward.
Please let me know what you guys think!

2024.06.02 00:42 Pokemon_bill Is the problem my MB or the GPU

I have the 4070 TiS installed on a Z790 PG Sonic MB.
When I installed the 4070 in the primary PCIe lane (gen 5 x16) the PC would crash on login to Windows every time. It would boot to the login screen and could sit there indefinitely with no problems but as soon as I login it black screen restarted.
After pulling my hair out from trying to figure out what was wrong I eventually moved the GPU to the secondary PCIe slot 4 x16.
When I did that the PC became stable. I settled for that miracle and have been using it like that for about 2 months give or take.
Now I'm trying to run unreal engine 5 and every time I open it I get a crash report stating "GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed. Check Log for GPU state information. A GPU mini dump was be saved in the Logs folder."
Yes it says "was be saved" which, while funny I'm getting tired of seeing. On the bright side while I don't know much about this personally I was able to find the log or in this case logs folder and found several files.
What they are talking about seems to be my system specs and what failed. It looks like VtuneApi.dll and it's 32 bit counterpart. It says they don't exist.
I'll be adding the log file to this post when I switch to PC.
This isn't the only thing the system has been failing to run and it's not the only problem I've noticed.
I also see what I would describe as artifacting in the display. For a few seconds when things open or are closed I'll see pixels not being rendered and in some cases they jump around so it'll look like speckles being randomly placed on the screen for a moment.
When I received my 4070 and tried to install it originally I believed it to be defective so I returned the first one.
I don't know the odds of getting two defective in a row but honestly I suspect the MB just as much as the GPU at this point.
Please help!
Thanks in advance.

Established in 2020, Super Slots Casino is already making a name as one of the top online casinos for US players. I found a fantastic casino offering, covering not just 382 slot titles, but a wide variety of blackjack, virtual poker, and other table games – alongside live dealers.
Super Slots is one of the most user-friendly sites I have reviewed and has a massive selection of banking methods to cater to a wide audience.
The welcome bonus is generous (250% up to $1,000) – although the rollover requirements are high.
I think this is a solid option for any online casino player.

Super Slots User Interface

In terms of usability, Super Slots has one of the best casino interfaces I have encountered. The tile-based format is easy to navigate, and the headings are neatly laid out, with search bars and a favorites section. Everything appears seamless.
https://preview.redd.it/k58ympyvyv3d1.png?width=1904&format=png&auto=webp&s=4db8ea3540df950b7baca7f827d7d4fbf922f01e
Each heading displays the number of titles for each game type, and each game tile also reveals the game developer.
I was particularly impressed with the extensive help & FAQ section. This answered most of my questions without needing customer support, with walkthroughs and tips for various games. The bonus requirements were also easily visible.
My first impressions were that Super Slots is at the forefront of modern-casino web design, perhaps due to this casino being only a few years old. That said, I did find the basic purple color scheme to be quite plain. Highly functional, but not particularly exciting.

Super Slots Casino

There are over 470 game titles at Super Slots Casino, including 382 slot titles. These come from leading developers including BetSoft, Nucleus Gaming, Dragon Gaming, Rival Gaming, and more.
I was very impressed with the casino offering, which featured lots of variety in slot titles, table games, and virtual cards, amongst others.
There are also two live dealer casinos, split between Red Casino by Visionary iGaming – which also includes some virtual casino games – and Black Casino by Fresh Deck Studios.
I found this to be a comprehensive casino offering.

I saw 364 slot titles in the main casino, plus an additional 18 titles in the Red Live Casino, from six different developers. There was plenty of variety to keep me entertained, covering 3-reel and 5-reel slots, classic and modern themes, with both progressive and traditional jackpots on offer.
Furthermore, I noticed regular free spin bonuses. Quite simply, I thought this was a fantastic slot option that more than lives up to Super Slots’ namesake.
Here are some popular real money slots titles at Super Slots:
  • Golden Dragon Inferno (RTP = 96.41%)
  • Wilds of Fortune (RTP = 96.33%)
  • Genies Riches (RTP = 94%)
  • Primal Wilderness (RTP = 95.28%)

Blackjack

I loved the blackjack offering at Super Slots, which was more extensive than most competitors.
There were 17 blackjack titles in all – 14 in the normal casino and another three in the Red Live Casino, covering a wide range of variations from single and double deck blackjack to pirate 21.
The detailed blackjack walkthrough in the help section was very useful – laying out blackjack basic strategy, rules, and variations.
One standout feature was the Blackjack Tournament. This included free-to-play tournaments to test your skills – making it perfect for novice and less-experienced players. Meanwhile, the real-money tournaments come with cash prizes ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 for the top players.
This was an exciting new dynamic as I played against other players on the leaderboard for the big pot.
This is a must-visit for any virtual blackjack fan.
The game titles include:
  • Single Deck Blackjack
  • Multi-Hand Blackjack
  • Pirate 21
  • Double Deck Blackjack

Table Games

The selection of alternative table games was a very pleasant surprise – with these games sometimes neglected by casino rivals. I counted 15 roulette titles, two craps titles, four baccarat titles, three keno titles, and a host of other alternative and specialty games.
The number and variety of table games really helped keep the casino fresh for me once I had my fill of the slots/blackjack/poker titles.
For those unfamiliar with these alternative games, there are overviews and strategy guides for games including craps and baccarat.
Table games included:
  • Multihand Casino War
  • Andar Bahar
  • Teen Patti
  • Three Card Rummy

Video Poker

Overall, I thought there was a great video poker offering at Super Slots, with 15 virtual poker titles. Super Slots has four classic variants of this game, including Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild.
However, for me, it was in the alternative poker variants that Super Slots stood out from the crowd. I found eleven alternative variants, from Texas Hold ‘Em, to Pai Gow and Tri Card Poker.
The poker alternatives include:
  • Let It Ride
  • Tri Card Poker
  • Pai Gow
  • Caribbean Poker
  • Texas Hold ‘Em
  • Oasis Poker
  • 6Up Pocket Poker

Super Slots Live Dealers

Super Slots has excellent live dealer casino options, thanks to two separate live casinos.
I saw 10 blackjack live games, along with four roulette, two baccarat, and super 6 games at any one time in the Red Casino by Visionary iGaming.
Meanwhile, I counted 12 blackjack games, 1 baccarat, and 3 roulette live games in the Black Casino by Fresh Desk Studios.
Besides the live dealer aesthetics, there are several main differences between the two.

Red Casino

Red Casino contains 36 virtual casino game titles alongside live dealers, and you can play virtual mini-games within the live dealer games while you wait for a table.
https://preview.redd.it/cbju7l6lxv3d1.jpg?width=790&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e2a1186ef0f0a74666ec5ff4cb48bc36b414bdc
I found the Red Casino has many opportunities to bet-behind on other players’ cards. Some of the games also have unlimited seats.
Red Casino buy-ins range from $5-5,000.
I thought these features were perfect for more casual players seeking some variety.

Black Casino

As a lover of blackjack, I was particularly impressed with the Black Casino. Black Casino is clearly geared toward committed card players.

The minimum buy-in was $10, although most games require $25 or $50 minimum buy-ins, with the range going all the way up to $20,000 for the most serious card players.
I would not venture into Black Casino without knowing what you’re doing. But it’s a great option if you are chasing serious money.

Super Slots Bonuses

I found a good range of online casino bonuses at Super Slots, including welcome, crypto, and referral bonuses, alongside free spins, competitions, and rebates.
The lack of a loyalty program was disappointing, and the rollover requirements are high compared to some competitors.
The bonus requirements were clearly visible – with no attempt to hide the small print.

Welcome Bonus: Up to $6,000 total

The welcome bonus is spread across the first six deposits, which is worth up to a massive $6,000 in total.
On the first deposit (SS250) you can claim 250% up to $1,000.
On the next five deposits (SS100) you can claim 100% up to $1,000.
Conditions:
  • Minimum deposit = $20
  • Rollover = 35x
  • Need to claim winnings within 30 days
  • Only valid for certain games titles
  • Not valid in live casino

Crypto Bonus: 400% up to $4,000

The crypto bonus is very high value, worth 400% up to $4,000 on your first crypto deposit. Be warned though – the rollover requirement is very extensive.
Conditions:
  • Minimum deposit = $20
  • 48x rollover
  • Need to claim winnings within 30 days

The Best Super Slots Bonus Codes

These are the best deals currently found at Super Slots. If a code is needed you will find the Super Slots bonus code in the third column. If a code isn’t needed you will simply need to click to claim the offer.

Rollover and Playthrough Requirements at SuperSlots.ag

You know the old saying, “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” This adage rings true when it comes to wagering and rollover requirements at Super Slots online casino. If Super Slots bonus codes could be used and instantly cashed out, the site would go out of business.
Rollover is the number of times each bonus dollar is expected to be played before it is eligible for a withdrawal. A bonus offer with a 10x rollover means that the player has to risk the equivalent of 10x their initial deposit. Only then can they collect their payout.
If these requirements were not put into place by Super Slots and every other online casino, people would be joining just to claim their welcome bonus offer and run off with the money.
Rollover ensures that the money is actually played through the gaming machines, allowing games to get their fair share of use. Rollover also allows the casino to make a profit.
For more information on rollover requirements, visit SuperSlots.ag and check out the promotions page. All terms and conditions are listed, including information with regard to rollover.

Super Slots Mobile Experience

I found Super Slots operates seamlessly on mobile devices thanks to its sleek modern design, with full access to all the game titles.
There is no need to download anything – just simply hop onto your mobile web browser.
Unlike some older casinos, Super Slots was founded in the mobile gambling era, as the website is fully designed with this in mind.

Super Slots Banking Options

I found Super Slots to be a standout option in terms of the range of payment methods accepted – for both crypto and alternative methods.
There are a total of 18 different crypto methods available, exceeding many competitors. As with most online casinos, crypto methods have higher deposit and withdrawal limits, have faster processing (all within 48 hours) and no fees.
In addition, all the main traditional methods are accepted, including credit cards, checks, cash, and wire transfers. These methods do carry some withdrawal fees and lengthier processing times.
However you like to pay and receive money, Super Slots has you covered.

All crypto payouts take less than 48 hours and have no fees. Traditional payouts take anywhere from 5 to 15 business days depending on method. Traditional payouts also carry fees that vary depending on withdrawal amount.

Super Slots Customer Support

I found only two options for contacting customer support at Super Slots – email and live chat.
The live chat operators were quick-to-respond and courteous. When inquiring as to the RTP for slots titles, the operator actively followed up with their support team to help me out.
I was very impressed with the FAQ and help sections, which were well organized and answered most of my queries eliminating the need to speak with anyone.

Safety and Security at Super Slots

Although only founded in 2020, Super Slots has a solid background. It has a Panama Gaming Commission license, operates with tried-and-trusted gaming developers, and utilizes industry-standard SSL data encryption technology.
I had no problems with monetary transactions. Despite its youth, Super Slots is safe and secure, with a good reputation.

Final Verdict on Super Slots: 4.5/5

You will find few other casinos that match Super Slots for their number and variety of slots, blackjack, virtual poker, and alternative table game titles. For casino-lovers, the bonuses are high value, although you may find the rollover requirements excessive if you are a casual player. I loved the flexibility of live dealer options, with Red catering to casual players, and Black to committed card players.
The website design is one of the most user-friendly layouts I have reviewed. Super Slots is also an industry leader in terms of the range of accepted payment methods. All-in-all, I recommend Super Slots as a brilliant all-around casino option.

2024.05.29 18:59 Kinnadelth UPDATE 4 OUT NOW! 🚀 Endless Mode

UPDATE 4 OUT NOW! 🚀 Endless Mode
It's here. Praise METEM. Right on top of the Actu Gaming French Direct!
Without further ado, here's Update 4, including the Roguelite Endless Mode we've been excited to share with you, along with new perks and abilities! And a seriously long list of bug fixes... (see below)
Again Special Thanks to the Void Crew community for all their feedback! Here’s a recap of the big headlines, in a 'new player' friendly video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guE8Shsvab4

Roguelite Endless mode!

https://i.redd.it/3lp8r373ce3d1.gif
What is more to say? Go try it out!
Getting Endless to work required a lot of work, including rework of the Astral map to show various stages and rewards during an endless run, while still being compatible with the standard pilgrimages.
We also wanted to give players tangible rewards after each objective, so players would get some power progression at least... but time your exit if you want to grab that delicious Void Jumping Supply Drop! And you better not forget it, cause those enemies will keep coming and they keep getting more nasty! Even Proximity mines won't go down with one shot after a few jumps...
And if that wasn't all, endless mode supports stacking of twists in a single sector! Combined with dynamic support of changing solar system in an Endless run means you'll never be quite sure of what will come your way...
And it wouldn't be a Roguelite if we didn't make sure you'd have to adapt your strategy for every run... so your fabrication options will be limited! But we are sure you'll make the best of it. Or die trying. Probably the latter.

Leveling Revamp

https://i.redd.it/i7ltuzz3ce3d1.gif
We've kept the 'capped' 30 ranks, and named those Ascension Ranks: Basically finite levels of worthiness of METEM. The purpose of Ascension ranks is to ease players in, unlocking content as they progress.
But how do you show off how cool you reaaaally are? That's where the infinite METEM Favor Levels come in! After capping your Ascension Rank, you start earning Favor Levels. Now you can truly show who should be the Captain...
And don't forget: Each rank up - for both types - grants you a cosmetic box. Milestone ranks grant higher tiers of cosmetics boxes - with improved duplicate protection!

Perks and Abilities

https://i.redd.it/nzl4w0x4ce3d1.gif
First things first - we had to change how Gene Points work - They are now finite, and you get one per Ascension Rank.
IMPORTANT! What about all your hard-earned Gene Points? Worry not - Your collected Gene Points will be converted into generous XP - you can claim those XP in the Personal Loadout Terminal!
Secondly, we love the idea of multi-speccing, so now you can spend points in all classes. You can spec deep or broad it is all up to you!
Thirdly, there are now THREE types of things you can invest your gene points into: Perks, Blueprints and Abilities. Lets see what each class is offered:
The Gunner
The Gunner gets access to perks that buff their ability to damage whoever stands in your way. And you'll need it! But of course, choice will have to be made: Do you opt for Energy damage? Kinetic? Or a lower but shared damage buff. Range? Firerate? Accuracy?
The blueprint available to the gunner is higher tier weapon mods, otherwise unavailable in Endless mode.
The Gunner's special ability is their Empower Weapon, which deals super-effective damage no matter the type of armor or shield the enemy has!
The Pilot
The Pilot tree perks buff their ability to maneuver their ship, but also ability to charge void drive faster, longer lasting Thruster Boosts and more resilient shields to keep the ship intact for as long as it takes!
The Pilot gets blueprint access to a module which grants additional Thruster Boosts! Of course you'll have to convince your crew that is a sane investment...
The Pilot's special ability is their Empower Ship, which almost instantly gain omnidirectional protection... great for when you get into a tight spot!
The Engineer
The Engineer has some interesting perks, like the Magnetic Boots, limiting floating up into the air on ship power loss and be less affected by that pilot who pulls the Void Lever prematurely... yeah you know that person!
The Engineer gets the blueprint which allows fabricating the very expensive Ship System Upgrader... a very lucrative item indeed for those seeking higher tier modules...
Is the Ship falling apart again? Well, the Engineer will save you with their Repair Instinct that makes them run faster and instantly repair stuff!
The Scavenger
Of course the Scavenger gets perks suited for exploration and for those long-walks in EVA. One team favorite is the Long Throw perk, allowing charging up to throw that valuable loot back to the ship.
The Scavenger gets the blueprint to fabricate the Oxygenated Blood Pack, a tiiiiiny syringe-like item which grants additional oxygen and health on those long space walks. And it is okay to share too!
But where the Scavenger really shines is their fancy new Grappling Hook, making them the fastest Ectype out there...
Whatever your choice, we are sure you'll have a better chance of surviving with than without!

All the other (important) stuff!

Immersive Vivox Voice Chat
This takes immersion to a new level. The Pilot talks through speakers around ship, EVA'ing Ectypes talk through “radio with static noise effect”, and voice is manipulated based on proximity to source. Of course it comes with the option to disable in the settings if you aren't into immersion and stuff. You can watch a video to see how it works here.
Co-op drama
https://i.redd.it/i76yyu16ce3d1.gif
These things just add up (in a good way). Here's a simple overview of what to look out for:
  • Salute with gesture and voice to praise METEM!
  • Due to various reported airlock accidents occurring on METEM ships, High Command decided to re-direct the suits built-in C02 exhausts to eject with body movement, resulting in natural forward movement when Ectypes are in No Gravity Zones, like space: what we call, "Space Swimming". Losing power and engaging Void Jump will make your ship a No Gravity Zone, so careful now!
  • Tactile hands shows animations when repairing defects
  • Player core animations have received an overhaul
  • Inverse Kinematic driven hands have been implemented (to show carryables in hands)
Controller Support (BETA)
https://preview.redd.it/0g8p5e37ce3d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3cb1ed26543c44ff40395f2491331cfec889ce0
We thought we get it out there sooner than later, so try out our Beta version and give us feedback on our Discord!
Volumetric Lights
https://preview.redd.it/b6xbevz7ce3d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd31a7b93d1ee694b316b5bd6a21b55cac1d849c
Mmmmm... so pretty! God rays, moody interiors and unexplained light sources is all we are saying.
New Cosmetics
https://preview.redd.it/11tmnv59ce3d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c9cbf3aa41af0bca32d26874e90096fd819edae
A few more cosmetics for the fashionable Ectype, including a 'winged' chestpiece, patterns and colorful... ehm... colors.

2024.05.29 16:09 seraleev_viktor How I developed 6 niche apps that together generated over $3k in profit per day

Four years ago, I decided to launch a startup and began creating my own mobile apps. On September 20 last year, they started bringing in over $3,000 a day (90% of which was on iOS). The very next day, Apple removed all my apps from the App Store and blocked my account.
I sent appeals, showed evidence, screenshots, and even sent a pre-trial claim, but was mostly ignored. Now I've filed a lawsuit against Apple, and for now, the iOS market is a no-go for me.
I want to speak out, but I don’t want to complain. Instead, I can share how simple ideas brought me good profits. Maybe someone will be interested and avoid making my mistakes.
First idea
The first app was super simple - you upload two before/after images and get a short video with a slide effect. (First design)
My wife, who was a nail tech at the time, suggested the idea because she wanted to create content to attract clients. She couldn't find any apps for creating before/after videos in the App Store. I didn’t believe her, we almost ended up arguing, and I went searching to prove her wrong. Turns out, she was right (as always).
I persuaded a friend to help develop the app. It was 2019, we spent a couple of months developing it, and within a year, it was bringing in $100-200 a month. My friend thought the idea was unworkable, so I bought out his share for a token amount.
This happened on February 26, 2020, right at my 30th birthday party. I sold a stake in a common startup and used part of the money to buy out my partner’s share in the before/after app. I had about $10k in my pocket. The next day after the party, I sat down to redesign the app and think through new functionality.
First takeoff
I was lucky to quickly find a talented and affordable freelancer. We rebuilt the app almost from scratch in 1.5 months, costing me $2,000.
What we did:
Before this update (design before), the app gained a couple of hundred montly downloads in its first year. But a week after the new version was released, there was a surge in organics.
Around the same time, I hired a marketing specialist for $400/month who launched the first ad. And boy, did it take off. We spent $200-300 on the first campaign, and within a month, I was maxing out my credit card to buy ads. All campaigns paid off. We used only one source, Apple Search Ads.
Search Ads doesn't have extensive targeting options, so we didn't fully understand who our target users were. Then we were contacted by an influencer saying “let’s launch a dog grooming contest.” It wasn’t very clear who would be interested in that, but no problem, let’s do it.
As a prize, we gave away premium access to our app, just three promo codes. The return from the contest was phenomenal. It brought in $2,000 net, and I discovered a whole new world. A huge number of people are willing to invest any amount in their beloved doggos to brag about the results through our app. I was shocked that a simple idea like this one worked SO well.
After the contest, we doubled for three more months in a row, and then reached a stable growth of 20-30% per month. (Screenshot from App Store Connect)
I still remember the moment I woke up, picked up my phone, and the app had earned a thousand dollars overnight for the first time. I was psyched, thanking the universe, the users, Apple, and the iPhone itself. Six months after the redesign, the app was bringing in about 200 times more than the original mark, $34k instead of $100-200 a month. $25k on iOS and $9k on Android (the Android version was made three months after the redesign).
As a result, I started receiving offers to purchase the app. I refused until I heard, “name the price.” I don’t know why, but I said $410k and after five days, I received that amount into my account. It seemed like an unimaginable amount of money to me; I couldn’t believe what was happening. Only two years later did I realize the real value of the app at that time was at least $1 million. You know how it goes, do as I say, not as I do.
To tell you more, the app’s still alive and it’s making good money without any updates. It paid for itself in 8 months and has been deep in the green ever since.
I planned to continue making apps with this money, thinking I could expand. It’s going to be smooth sailing from here on out, right? Absolutely not.
Landing
In 2021, my family and I moved to Chile, where we still live. We like it here, it's a beautiful country, pur children are growing up here, our daughter was born here, and we want to get Chilean passports. I sold everything back home - a car, an apartment, a plot of land, all my stuff.
I started chasing my dream of making a serious video editing app. I thought, now I have money, I'll start figuring out a "real" app. Life is beautiful and amazing.
I hired new devs and went to work for a year and a half. The first release turned out to be a failure: organic users never came, and the cost of attracting one user never fell below $10. Competing with the free CapCut was impossible.
There were also parallel attempts to make other things. For example, an app for designing your Instagram feed. The first version of the app was growing great, but I thought with new features like collaboration and delayed auto-publishing, I'd find the key to success.
However, reality was harsh. I spent six months just communicating with Facebook to gain access to the API methods I needed, only to find that Facebook kept changing things on the inside, making the app’s features unusable.
In the end, I didn’t even earn $1,000. I spent almost all my money working tirelessly, but nothing ever took off.
Insights and the crash
Crisis makes you think. I realized my strength was in niche apps and decided to return to where I started: small apps covering specific needs without any unnecessary noise.
I made the Boomerang app, regardless of the fact that Instagram already had this feature. But I made a separate app, and it started to grow.
There was also an app filled with beautiful fonts for designing social media posts. An app for creating Reels. Once I realized my strengths, things started to look up again. I returned to the idea of collages. Every app began to make money. Whew!
Overall, the account had six apps with an above 4.5 stars average App Store rating. On August 21, 2023, I received a notification from Apple that they had removed my app from the App Store and were going to shut down my account if I did not correct the violations within 30 days. Not any specific violations, just “violations.”
I sent Apple evidence, screenshots, and offered access to the source files, but I was either ignored completely pr got an auto-reply. I was sure this was just some kind of mistake and waited for an answer. We continued to make updates and worked on new features. On September 20, the apps earned more than $3,000 in 24 hours for the first time and were removed by Apple the next day.
Payments were suspended, and I had $110,000 left in my account.
I was stunned.
The first appeal was rejected, the reasons for the blocking were unknown, and it was unclear what to do. I immediately submitted a second appeal. Eight weeks of silence and again a refusal.
I lost everything I worked for in a single day..
I started a petition on Change_org and shared my story in a tweet that gained significant traction. Someone from Twitter published my story on Hacker News; it became #1, collecting more than 400 comments. I received hundreds of support messages in my DMs, and only then did Apple finally send an explanation.
According to them, my account was frozen “for association with a previously closed fraudulent account.” Of course, I had no connection with fraudulent accounts, otherwise I wouldn’t even be sharing the story in the first place. The only positive reaction to the hype was the return of $110,000.
I started my little investigation. The “fraudulent” account may have turned out to be my old account, which once contained the first app for creating before/after videos. The very same thing that started it all. I continued to pay $99 for this account because it is dear to me, it’s nostalgic and a part of my life.
Just before it was closed, I tried to publish a card game based on the popular game Never Have I Ever on this account. This concept seemed ideal for me to master interface solutions when moving from Swift UIKit to Swift UI.
But recently, other things have come to light. We found a company of former partners with an identical name to mine. Apparently, Apple connected me with this company that I didn't even know existed. But I can’t know for sure because there is no feedback from the corporation. Any letters with any arguments and documents are ignored.
I had to sue, but that’s a whole other big story. Communication with Apple is gfar from being related to development; maybe I’ll tell you about it someday.
What's next and what about other stores
90% of our profits came through Apple. We're now fully focused on Android and have grown 4x in 8 months, but it's still not enough to cover all development costs. I don’t make enough money to continue supporting the team. We're holding out for now because finding developers who understand graphics and video is difficult (by the way, a good niche for devs who are not sure what to try next).
The growth on Android is also related to the market's quirks: the Android audience is many times larger than the number of iPhone users, but not every Android can render a new video from 12 frames.
Back to my story. Next will be a trial, petitions, and pleas. I hope my experience will be useful to someone because I am not the first and, most likely, not the last to find myself in this situation. Corporations don't care about individual developers. Even if they are left with nothing.
It might sound trivial, but don’t put all your eggs in one basket. The larger the corporation, the less attention it will pay to you. With Apple, after blocking, you lose the opportunity to even talk to support on the phone. Text appeals only.
In fact, I communicated with the answering machine for a whole month until I was blocked. At any moment, you can lose everything you have - your account, apps, users. With the snap of a finger, what you thought belonged to you will disappear.
The only thing I realized is that only public discussion of the problem and the courts can somehow induce them to change their policy towards developers.
In the meantime, I’ll go get ready for the next update.

2024.05.28 19:27 seraleev_viktor How to Generate $3,000 Per Day with Mobile Apps, and Lose Everything in a Flash Thanks to Apple

Now I've filed a lawsuit against Apple, and for now, the iOS market is a no-go fpr me.
I want to speak out, but I don’t want to complain. Instead, I can share how simple ideas brought me good profits. Maybe someone will be interested and avoid making my mistakes.
First idea
The first app was super simple - you upload two before/after images and get a short video with a slide effect.
First version of the app
After update
Before this update, the app gained a couple of hundred montly downloads in its first year.

  • New transitions, like diagonal ones
  • Ability to customize animation speed
  • Added effects settings: transition thickness, color, neon, etc.

  • Ability to add text
  • Added support for stickers
  • Updated the store page: description, screenshots, icon
  • Localized the app for all available languages in the App Store

2024.05.28 15:10 broyges 2024: the year of hunting criterion covers

2024: the year of hunting criterion covers
hello to all Criterion fans!
I've been collecting/hunting for the covers of the Criterion Collection's publications for months. I spent a lot of time on this project, actually the covers of the DVDs, blu-ray and uhd releases released since 2006 are all in the right quality (by this I mean that in the same resolution and quality as on the official website of Criterion are also included, as jpg images with a resolution of 1288x1600 and 1600x1988).
however, there are quite a few of the first (1998-1999, the black-band editions) and second (1999-2006, the underlined font editions) serial editions of the DVDs, for which I could only find scanned covers (even on the official website, that such junk scanned things are uploaded there), I would like to find the original versions of these. (which are not badly resized from the original resolution (which is most often 1288x1600) to 1134x1600 or 1063x1500, because this way the covers are horribly distorted.)
also, of course, I went to the laserdiscs as well, which is a much more exciting project compared to the old/older DVDs, since there are not really any original, digital cover designs for them on the Internet. So 99.9% of the time, I collected photos of them from about a dozen and a half different sources, and compared to that, I managed to get photos that could be used for the majority quite well. (the ideal laserdisc cover should have a normal resolution of at least 800x800 pixels, preferably not flash on it in a disturbing way, but the colors should be bright, not damaged, not have any kind of stickers, price tags, watermarks, not be slanted, at an inclined angle, etc.)
I keep a pretty precise list of what I'm still hunting for. currently approx. I have 3000 images, used to be a lot more than that, but when I find a near perfect version, I discard the less good ones.
I am looking for enthusiastic Criterion fans who would help me to collect - in the best possible quality - the covers/cover designs of the previous publications. of course, I'm only interested in front covers, since I don't want to print them, I just really like to look at them and compare them with each other.
I hope that my post does not violate any rules, practically the covers are also available/downloadable from the official Criterion website, with the exception of course of the laserdisc covers and those DVD covers of which the second or third version has since been released, and therefore only the covers of the latest versions can be found on the website.

2024.05.23 20:01 LibertyJacob99 GBC Battle Sprite Revamps for GBA - now available as a Patch!

We've prepared a collection of Revamped GBC Battle Sprites that you can apply to your ROM as a patch, or bulk import using Advance Series or other tools!
The release contains revamped front and back sprites for all 251 Pokemon from Gens 1 & 2, along with recoloured back sprites from Ruby (which are direct revamps of GSC backsprites). The front sprites are a mix of the best sprites from Red/Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal. The shiny Pokemon are grayscale as shiny revamps don't exist for most of the sprites.
The sprites can be instantly applied as a patch or dynamically inserted anywhere in your ROM. We don't know if these are compatible with decomp in the 256x64 sheet format as we haven't touched decomp, but they will be compatible when split into 4 separate sprites, which can easily be done using most graphic hacking tools such as HMA, unLZ, etc.

Compatibility:

The patch is made for Fire Red only and uses offsets B66FC4 - C048AB.
Advance Series can be used to bulk import the sprites to either Fire Red or Emerald at any offsets.

If you want to insert manually:

  1. Download and extract the .zip from this post.
  2. Using Advanced Pokemon Sprite Editor (from Advance Series), select "Import All Sprites" to bulk import the sprites. Or you can do it manually using HMA or other tools.
  3. Set all Y positions to 0. For flying Pokemon (the ones who should have shadows), set the Enemy Altitude to 5.

Some GBC sprites such as Marill from Gold and Mewtwo from Red are still our favourites to this day, and it's great that these can be used in your game! We'd definitely recommend using these alongside our GBC / Gen 1 Styled Font Patch for Fire Red!

Please credit the above sprite artists when using this patch or resource.

2024.05.22 22:20 BroccoliThunder Starcraft / Warcraft / CnC / Diablo2 / DoW2 / Surpreme Commander Soundpacks, like a whole new game!

Greetings
►►►Update 22.May.2024: It's been another 4 months already since i last posted! These are all the soundpacks i tinkered together since the game's release on December 13, 2017. I pieced them together carefully with only the best and most fitting sounds and music tracks to make everything fit. It will make you feel right at home, if you've played those classics.
Also i got the >►Command & Conquer soundpack◄< as new addition which i gave a seperate thread: https://www.reddit.com/TheyAreBillions/comments/jyv4zm/command_conquer_twts_soundtexturepack/
Make sure to check out my >►Custom Map Themes◄< aswell, to give you maps a whole new look!
If you wanna prelisten to each of the new sounds & musics, download VLC Player, it can play the .dxsound files. There are also .txt files in the Ambient/Music folders as guide. Sound Modding is very straight forward, it's basically switching out sounds & music and the game thinks, they are the originals. You can interchange everything quite easily. Let's say we wanna change the Ambient/Caustic Lands theme, 1171552052.dxsound. Just rename it, copy in a replacement and give it the original file name.
If you are interested in cosmetic modding of the game and you've got any questions about sound/texture modding just fire away in the comments. I hope that one day the devs embrace the great moddability of the game and more people step up and contribute to the modding scene in addition to creating amazing custom campaigns, like 29 Years Later, with a whooping 24 maps in total!
OLD soundpack thread
As taste, here the Starcraft playlist with all the ambient map themes. About 3 hours of new custom mixed Starcraft music.
<◄< Starcraft Ambient Playlist >►> (Maps 1-6, Fortress1-3)
If you wanna try out one of my custom maps: Mines of the Northern Lands & Misthaven
Also check out DaneelTrevize's github he's the guy who made "Modded-Mayors" and recently TABSAT, which lets you edit your savefiles.
I aim to create a nostalgic feeling for TAB players, a familiar athmosphere and if you want to try something different after playing vanilla for many hours. All music and most sounds have been replaced appropriately with fitting equivalents. You will feel right at home if you know the games.
The game hasn't been updated in a long time, so i hope that everything still works, if you get errors or crashes let me know.
STARCRAFT Sound/Texture Pack (Updated 5.January 2020)
<◄< Ambient Playlist >►> (Maps 1-6, Fortress1-3)
I have compiled a ► VIDEO ◄ which shows everything off. It's segmented in raw game play leading up to the final wave (120d-Brutal), unitvoices/effects showcase and the custom map themes. Timestamps are in the video description.
More vids: DeadlyOptics Map4, DeadlyOptics Map4
It features:
  • -Almost everything to be Starcraft themed, Unitvoices, Sounds, Portraits, Effects, >3 hours custom tailored soundtrack, Notficiations (Colony is under attack), Fonts, SC1 Cursors, Icons etc.
  • Starcraft themed Fonts and Cursors
  • UnitVoices/fire sounds: Soldier>SC1Marine, Ranger>SC1Kerrigan, Lucifer>SC1Firebat, Sniper>SC1Ghost, Thanatos>SC2Maruder, Titan>SC2Thor

  • Changed the projectiles of Ranger, Thanatos and Ballista (Proyectiles)
  • New Main Menu Appearance
  • Notifications sounds toned down and annoying ones(Jobs finished, Base i under sttack) replaced with more low profile equivalents. Unique wallattack notification.
There was a nice SC2 soundpack by 'Cygin' on Steam, but unfortunately it got removed. Since i kept the files i share them with you here, so they are not lost in the data abyss. I use it personally because there are simply more unique unit quotes, -HIGHLY- recommended to get more varied unit quotes.

All credit goes to Cygin for this pack! He covers:

See .txt file for the filenames and soundtracks used. I also added 2 Tiberian Sun Ambient and 1 Fortress theme in Ambient/Alt.
  • Other music replaced with some of the best Tiberium Wars/Tiberian Sun music pieces. See .txt file for the filenames and soundtracks used for each music track.
  • Changed the projectiles of Ranger, Thanatos and Ballista (Proyectiles)

>>Installation & Troubleshooting & Modding Crashcourse<<
Before modding always backup your vanilla files and get familiar with the filestructure of the game, this makes things much easier.
INSTALL: Extract with 7-Zip, copy&paste the files (ZXGame_Data, Fonts, Cursors) over to your gamefolder and replace. I always keep the game's filestructure intact, so placing the files should be as uncomplicated as possible. You can mix and match as you see fit, since all packs are just collections of sounds and music.
UNINSTALL: Use Steam's Verify integrity of gamefiles(recommended), it will detect modded files and replace them with originals. Since i always keep alternative sounds/music in the mod package for you to use, they will be left in there. If you want them removed, simply delete ZXGame_Data, Fonts, Cursors folders before verifying via Steam, so you get clean vanilla files.
-) All textures (Atlas_xx.dat like Geology or Vegetation) of the game can be opened and edited with your Photo Editing software, that can be GIMP, Photoshop etc. Personally i use GIMP + dds plugin, it's free and works like a charm. After editing export as .dds in the format "BC3 / DXT5" + "mipmaps" (Sprites: "BC4 / ATI1 (3Dc+)" ), then rename back to .dat. Terraintextures are regular .png i believe
-) .dxsound files (most likely .ogg files in disguise) can be played with VLC player and replaced with every soundfile (.wav, .mp3, .flac etc) you like, as long as the filename matches the original filename, so the game can recognize it (.ogg offers good quality and small size, so this is the go to format here). This makes soundmodding a very easy process.
-) There shouldn't be any crashes with these packs from my experience, they are safe to use. If you should experience crashes or errors, pls let me know.
Have fun with the packs and if you have any questions or suggestions, let me know.
Big thanks to TacticalFriedRice (DeadlyOptics, Aznelite) for the hours of top notch TAB entertainment and for playing with these packs for such a long time on stream!
Cheers and HAVE FUN!

2024.05.21 20:45 Important-Letter4359 lost spanish speaking soundcloud album

i downloaded a collection of songs from an spanish speaking album on soundcloud during 2020 and from what i remember the songs were also released in 2020.
heres the song album order (this is from memory, so the order might be wrong!)
sonivox: https://voca.ro/1gPFdonwOHHz llmadas perdidas: https://voca.ro/1fM6MPr9XCeI asteridas: https://voca.ro/19VeJ4h3itxV aparine: https://voca.ro/14rly1sVFnA2 2010 (my personal fav <3): https://voca.ro/14r90Q5psUS6
and if youre wondering how i know the name of the songs. basically, the site I downloaded them from just used the titles of the songs as the filenames. whats also to note is that some of the songs were intentionally made to sound low quality, well at least i presume thats the case.
I want to mention that the artist also made some music videos for them. i fondly remember 2010s music video featuring scenes inside a moving car, with someone (presumably the artist) recording in front of the car window as it drives past cramped one or two-story buildings. the video has a strange dim filter to it, and it includes a bunch of weird glittering shapes passing it out.
one last thing to mention is that the album covers changed depending on the song. the bg color would remain the same but each song featured different patterns of shapes and circles (mostly circles) and the font would change too. i remember the bg color being beige or teal idk
welp thats everything i got to say about this mystery. pretty much the songs are found, but the artist and the album needs to be identified

2024.05.19 02:55 Chickenwingechicken explaining the lifa app

ೃ༄🐛ೃ༄ introduction ೃ༄🐛ೃ༄

if you are involved in the shifting community, you may have seen the mention of some sort of 'lifa app' with no explanation as to what it is. sometimes, in scripts, it will say stuff such as...
'when i shift to this reality, i will have a lifa app to check in on my cr self and it cannot be deleted or destroyed.'
but what is the app that everyone is talking about? is it an actual app or sort of app in another reality that everyone just knows of?
in this post, i will be explaining the lifa app as a full guide of how to use it. its features, and what it is.

༊·˚🌿 what is the lifa app? ༊·˚🌿

the lifa app is a reality shifting based app that lets you keep track of your dr or multiple drs in literally every way imaginable. from the time it is to your memories. it even gives you diary entries for yourself. it is meant to be used as a tool to help shifters keep track of all of their information about them and their dr. it also allows a gateway to meet other shifters like yourself and shift with them to the same reality.

。・゚゚・ 🥞 🥯 features 🥯 🥞 ・゚゚・。

the lifa app has many features. the main ones you can see first are dr details, visualizations, group shifting, sharing.
let's go over each feature one by one.

: ̗̀➛ dr details

the first thing that you will get when you are greeted by this an i icon that says about this dr. when you click on it, you are able to type the location and a background story about your desired reality.
: ̗̀➛ time
this feature allows you to add a time and date to your dr. time will pass the same as it does here. for example in my dr, it is currently november 19, 2130 and is 1:47 pm. i chose to freeze time in this dr and submitted it.
: ̗̀➛ theme
this holds the name of what your dr is called, the icon it has, and the background of it when you click on the app. you can also choose the font color and a background tint as well. it also holds your name in your dr.
: ̗̀➛ timeline
you are able to establish a timeline of your desired reality before the point that you shift. i recommend keeping it brief to the important stuff. main instances of childhood and things that you remember with the same importance as you do now.
: ̗̀➛ notion script
this feature is if you have a script on the website notion script. it is a website in which you can gather and fill in shifting templates and is a great way to organize yourself. this is not necessary though. there are other features you can use for your script on here.
: ̗̀➛ about me
this is just a section where you write all about yourself. your name, your age, nicknames, safe word, height, hometown, ethnicity, race, nationality, sexuality, pronouns, gender, language(s), positive traits, negative traits, habit, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and skills.
: ̗̀➛ relationships
when you enter this tab, it will take you to a screen that has a place where you can add family members, friends, pets, significant other(s) or 'other'. the other tab has you in it.
when you decide to add let's say a friend, you start off by adding their name. then there age, closeness, and appearance. you can follow that up by adding a photo of said friend. you can type in relationship dynamic, how you met, and extra info. the format is the exact same no matter the type of relationship aside from pets.
the pet section is a little bit different. you add their name, age, species, pet bed, size, and about them.
there is also a recorder option where you can move around the placements of these characters.
: ̗̀➛ scenarios
this includes upcoming scenarios that you had planned, past scenarios that you did while in your reality, desired upcoming scenarios that include no date but you want to do or have plans to do. finally, you have memories which has no date. these are things that you will automatically remember when in your dr.
it's just a brief section where you can type in a title and add as much as you want of details of that memory. you can add a photo and select if it has a date or if it is a past memory or not.
: ̗̀➛ calendar
this just has the date of your dr. you can also create events on specific dates. that's pretty much it, this section is short.
: ̗̀➛ diary
you can write diary entires. talk about your day, memories, anything that may make you feel closer to your dr. this section is also short.
: ̗̀➛ playlist
so is this one. you make a playlist. and link the playlist, whenever you open the playlist, you get a new tab that takes you to that playlist to listen. i use it to keep my shifting subliminal playlist, but you don't have to.
: ̗̀➛ hero/villain
this is a tab within a tab so i'm bolding it. the first tab is customize, but that feature is locked behind a paywall with a monthly subscription of $3.99. i will talk about the subscription later.
then you have powers. you type the name of it and what your powers do. you have weapons which have the same explanation as powers. missions means you can make your own missions.
then there is combat skills. you list your strength, speed, agility, intelligence, compatibility, stamina, and flexibility out of five. then you can add your backstory. it's a blank sheet where you can type it out.
next is costumes where you describe what your costume looks like.
ally team includes your team name, how well you work together, specific events and upcoming battles, and other details. you can also add relationships from your relationship section and names of that.
enemy team is relatively the same. a team name, specific events or battles, other details, and can once again, select relationship with each member.
finally, there is timeline which has a title and description. you can also add scenarios if needed.
thankfully, that is thee last feature about dr details and we can now move on to visualizations.

: ̗̀➛ visualizations ‧₊˚🖇️✩

this tab focuses all on the visual aspects of your desired reality. even if you can't visualize, you can still use these to get a good idea on what things will look like.
: ̗̀➛ appearence
you can add a hair claim, face claim, body claim, hand claim, voice claim, and specific features claim. personally, i think that the last one could be explained easily in body or face claim.
either way, when you press one of these tabs, you can type in a detailed description on what you look like. now, i didn't notice at first but all the way at the bottom will be a small section that says add photo to which you can go into your gallery and choose a photo for yourself on that specific claim.
: ̗̀➛ wardrobe
this section will include an area that says wardrobe. you press the giant + sign on the top right hand corner and it takes you to a section that says create wardrobe. all you gotta do is add a title and a description. once you do that, you click on the tab again and then add a photo of a specific outfit of yours. you can add multiple photos, move them around using the recorder option right next to photos.
: ̗̀➛ photo gallery
you can make multiple photo galleries , customize albums of different things relating to your dr.
: ̗̀➛ pinterest boards
here you can add the link to your pinterest board...and a title. that's about it.
: ̗̀➛ wallet
this does not connect to any funds in this reality. it's supposed to keep track of money in your dr. i find this feature a bit dumb tbh and seems to waste more time preparing to shift than actually shifting.
: ̗̀➛ outfits
again, this is the same as wardrobe but more customized. you can add each individual clothing item separately if you wanna do that.
: ̗̀➛ belongings
you add photos and a title of what you own and its sentiment. yeah.
: ̗̀➛ or self
it has a stick figure of you. you list your family, what they're doing, their location, and your action, mood, and location.
: ̗̀➛ music group dr
without paying, you can only add one music group and one album. there is a members tab but you need a monthly subscription in order to access it.
i use this feature in one dr to describe my favorite band to listen to and an album i like. if you wanna add more than one album, then you also need to pay,
: ̗̀➛ school app
this is a doozy and has multiple tabs so this will be rapid fire.
you have your student i.d. report card, schedule.
schedule contains period, subject, and teacher. your school in your dr. you can add a photo, location, mascot, colors, class song, traditions, and history of your school.
you can also add your school uniform if you have one. this includes daily uniform and gym uniform. you can add a school map and a yearbook (????????)
again, these are fine i think but the yearbook seems unnecessary, just script who is in your class with you.
also there's a teacher mode but you can only access that with payment.
: ̗̀➛ chat
you can make a chatroom. and roleplay as every single member in that chatroom...for some reason. i don't need to repeat myself here, you already know what i'm going to say.
: ̗̀➛ chat ai
this is locked behind a paywall. just use character ai, it's free and you don't have a limit of 200 messages per day.
: ̗̀➛ family tree
for some reason you can't add siblings. the only way to add siblings kinda is to make them have the same parents as you on a new family tree.
this is just so not necessary. just write down your siblings in your script. no need for your entire extended bloodline. the universe will figure that out.
: ̗̀➛ places
you add places in your dr.
: ̗̀➛ fame phone
you can make a knock off insta account, twitter account, a wikipedia, and a youtube. again, not needed. just shift. also the settings and notifications features are locked behind a paywall.

: ̗̀➛ group shifting

you need to convert your account into an online account. but you can connect with other people and plan to shift together as a group. for those that don't know, group shifting is where you and one or more people collectively decide to shift to the same dr as different people and basically share an experience in that dr.

: ̗̀➛ sharing

the exact same thing as above. except this time you can just share your dr. you need an account to access this feature. it can give others ideas on scripts, drs, or anything else of the sort. it can be a great way to connect with others.

𓍯𓂃ᥫ᭡.🩹 final thoughts 𓍯𓂃ᥫ᭡.🩹

i think some of its features are helpful! however, other parts of it can be very distracting from shifting. i almost felt like this was an oc maker rather than shifting app. some of these i think didn't need so many features. the amount of features there are is crazy. the features section alone i needed to divide into several sections because it took so much longer to get through than i initially thought. it took about two hours to review each of them and i had to take breaks in between. to a new shifter especially, this would be so overwhelming.
you don't need face claims, body claims, or special features claims. as long as you have a general idea of what you and your desired reality is like then you're fine. this is just gonna over complicate shifting and make it seem more fictional in a way. if anything, this makes you less connected to your desired reality since your focusing so much on this one.
it wouldn't be a waste to download it but i wouldn't recommend buying it. but if you do, then more power to you.
please stay safe and happy shifting ᥫ᭡

2024.05.17 02:37 TacticalMoonwalk Meme Stocks - From a gamers view

Hey Ashley and Bernie,
I just listened to one of your episodes where you covered the Meme stocks and tweets from DFV. It's always interesting to hear somebody's perspective on the topic that's not been following the reddit posts pretty much daily for the last 3 years. I wanted to give you guys a bit more detail on what's been learned and what the true sentiment is from people holding those stocks, but with examples a gamer would understand.
OWNERSHIP 1. I think we can all agree that the pivot to the digital age has had benefits and disadvantages. When we bought a digital copy of a game or item, we naïvely thought it was ours forever. We were wrong! If a company can't afford there servers, the online play shuts down (Halo 3 RIP). Same goes for digital downloads and maybe the game itself. That's why physical media is great!
  1. The same thing happened with Stocks. We moved away from physical stocks to help buyers and sellers transact faster and more efficiently. The downside became the reliance on brokers/market makers/clearing houses/ and tons of other entities to get involved. Now the line gets blurry on who actually owns stock. If you buy through a broker, you become a "Beneficial Owner." That means the broker officially owns the stock, even though you paid the money.
  2. What those "basement dwellers" on reddit learned, is the retail investor has a way to move that stock into their own name and take it off the market. Each public company designates a Transfer Company to hold their corporate shares. Those shares are unavailable to those previously listed entities and in the company's name. Apes found out they too could move their shares from a broker and into their own name. This process is called "DRS" (Direct Registration System). Now those brokers can't lend your shares out to be bet short against you, they can't randomly sell all your shares because it could have hurt them financially, and tons of other shady stuff.
  3. The people directly registering their shares are not kids in their parents basements (well not that many of them) that spend all their money because "not a cat" tweeted a meme. They are real people that want to own what they paid for.
TRUE GAMERS
  1. We know that the majority of people play games to relax, pass time, or get yelled out by 12 year olds. However, there are some who like to grind, some that are completionist , Achievement hunters!!!, and some are speedrunners. When some of these gamers dive into dedicate years to these games, they learn far more than thought possible. If you followed the King of Kong story and the allegations of cheating, you may have seen some of the PHD level scientific research papers or video essays. Gamers went hard! It turns out some of them are scientist, mathematicians, electrical engineers, programmers. Experts in their fields.
  2. It just so happens that some non-casual retail investors share some of the same strengths as those tryhard gamers. Over the years, data scientists, professional traders, Finance analysts, investment banks, brokers....have dedicated years to sharing their learnings on how the stock market actually works. Spoiler, it's not kind to the retail investor. If you are curious, please check out the DD library. SuperStonk Library of DD, Art Books, and Periodicals
  3. Instead of finding ways to speedrun the game, these awesome people have uncovered the horrifly ways the retail investor has been swindled out of their money. Retirement funds being shorted using the stocks those same people purchased, the BUY button being turned off so the true value of stock can't be discovered, Operational Shorting to increase liquidity (Legal Naked Shorting), the use of Tokenized stocks to create fake shares (related to FTX by the way), Cellar boxing, collusion between Short Hedgefunds and "Consulants" to take over a companies board only to then set the company up for failure while having hedge funds short the company into the ground (Toys R Us, Bed Bath and Beyond, Sears...), and so many others.
  4. These are experts with the ability to grind. They are not just kids looking to YOLO their money with the hopes of lambos and chicki nuggies. They are serious investors writing Cogressman, the FBI, SEC, FTC, with the intention of exposing these dark practices.
FAN BOYS AND GIRLS
  1. Gamers are built different. If they enjoy a game, they will spend their hard earned money on it, the DLC, the collectibles, clothes, or on trips to see others play it. They will build communities around the games and fight for what they believe in (I'm looking at you Nintendo and the Smash scene!). They also don't take too kindly to when the media talks down to them, or tries to push a narrative that's morally and scientifically wrong. Games are just for kids, they don't rot your brain (except when you want Seriously 2.0 achievement on Gears 2 , and they don't make you violent. Games are art, they let people socialize online, they inspire us, and they are growing part of lives. Just because old geezers keep saying it on the television, does not mean it's true. Sometimes there are hidden motivations driving those narratives.
  2. Why did the media call Gamestop, AMC, Blackberry.... MeME sTocks? Because it drove a narrative. The intentions were clear. Attribute the rapid rise in stock price to a bunch of Fauxmoi enjoying, meme loving, YOLOing, wallstreet betting losers. From then on, all these stocks are know to not be taken seriously. Who has the most to gain by doing this. Well, any media outlet getting their revenue from Paid articles and advertising. Who would pay for such stories, lots of Short Hedge Funds, Banks, Brokerages, and Crypto sites like FTX. If any of those companies where systematically shorting viable companies into the ground, it's best those Headlines say "Forget Gamestop, Sell While You Can, Meme Stock drops XX%." But when any positive news happens, Crickets.
  3. The last 3 years have spawned true fanboys of these companies. Apes take pride in not only buying shares of the company, but buying the company's products. At one point, they were spending significant money on games that were to be donated to children's hospitals. They wanted to help kids and get them into gaming! There are times when somebody posts a crazy indepth DD and get less upvotes than some user who bought Gamestop branded batteries!!! They have evolved! They want the company to succeed. If the company gets fairly valued in the stock market, that's great. If it causes a cause squeeze, cool. If retail buying a stock causes a financial collapse (not as cool, but if it leads to actual market reform while sending shares to infinity like in that one Simpsons picture that predicted Trump...Very cool!).
Game On,

2024.05.16 23:10 Artistic-Buy1062 [FNV] I keep getting random crashes and don't know what to do

As the title says, I keep getting random crashes with "Exception C0000005 caught!" in the crashlog. I tried uninstalling NVHR and it solved the problem for a while, I already downloaded the last JIP beta in the xNVSE discord but it keeps happening and it appears to be random, because sometimes I can play like for an hour or longer but other times it crashes after five minutes or so, the last one happened fifteen minutes after I opened the game. Dear all,

2024.05.16 07:07 Erwinblackthorn The Time Vortex of Video Production

After much consideration, and planning, I am going to return to video production. When I began making videos on a weekly or monthly basis, I had plenty of free time due to the big coof. This was me learning things like scheduling, editing, how to make the microphone work, and I learned plenty through trial and error. There is a dramatic difference between my first videos and my recent ones because of this learning experience. But as I learned about how to make videos, I learned that I was wasting my time with them.
A LOT of time.
Whatever you’re thinking is a time waste for a video is not really it, unless you’ve been there and done that. During that time, I ruined my sleep schedule and would even pass up on small money opportunities, all because I thought my Youtube videos would send me into stardom. Plant a seed, watch it grow, that sort of thing. But, looking at my numbers, it was the exact opposite. Each video coming out, utilizing the keywords and subject matter as a reason to click, was essentially a false sense of activity.
Working on other people’s channels created even more false cases of activity, which created a false sense of justifying why I’m putting labor into something.
Like most artists, I was gaslighting myself into thinking that the time spent into a project was going to translate into a future income from something else. We always see these videos where it seems zero effort was put into it and it goes viral, not realizing that years of failing and group efforts were required to reach those results. And even then, a youtube video existing doesn’t cause a person to instantly gain money from that existence. I have a friend who made a viral video and he didn’t get anything from millions of views, because there was nothing to monetize. I have another friend who made a viral video, trying to recreate the magic, and nothing came of it after a year or two of trying.
Not only is it hard to receive results, but the amount of time it takes to attempt is ridiculous. I didn’t time myself, but if I knew how many hours were sunk into each video, I would probably pull out my balls in anger. The process of each video was a mess of:
  1. Writing down a script (takes more than an hour to write an hour of script)
  2. Recording the audio (takes more than an hour to record an hour)
  3. Editing the audio (takes about double the time of whatever its recorded)
  4. Making the thumbnail
  5. Making the avatar
  6. Collecting images
  7. Collecting video clips
  8. Making images and clips
  9. Editing through clips that are too long
  10. Adding sound effects
  11. Finding and adding music
  12. Waiting for it to render (usually this is where I go to do other things)
  13. Rendering it AGAIN through handbrake so it’s a smaller file (quicker than waiting for uploading a multi GB file)
  14. Uploading it across youtube, bitchute, and rumble
I don’t want to make this sound like I’m complaining, but this is the bare minimum effort that goes into a youtube video, not mentioning the details of how things are edited or the issues with troubleshooting. A lot of what ate up my time was realizing when things aren’t working way too late, such as how GIFs don’t register well and they slow down a larger project. Or better yet, how a large project slows down to a crawl and you have to render multiple segments separately in order to keep things running smoothly. My files, as organized as I tried to keep them, were unorganized as hell because I would set them up during production instead of before production. Then by the end of it, there would be something wrong that I would have to edit, remove, I forgot something, something vanished between saves, or even corrupted files because I moved something and didn’t realize it was part of something else.
Video editing is utter hell in the beginning, but it gets better after you look after your process and actually organize everything well.
I spent a night the other week changing up all of my files. I put them on my desktop, where I can easily access them, and away from my downloads. This is important because your downloads can be bogged down with anything you download, and eventually it becomes a massive mess of pictures, videos, game patches, or whatever else you’re downloading; all getting in the way of your actual project. You want your files to be files within files, and each file is marked clearly for its purpose and its direction. I had a million songs splayed out in different areas and couldn’t remember where they were, of course when I wanted them, all because they would get trapped in piles of other things I downloaded for later.
My file finding time is now only limited by the slowness of my computer acquiring it.
Audio began as a mess of me going through each line to make sure there was no extra noise, and having to fix anything that was too quiet or not full enough. Turns out I was making my audio way too maximized and wasting a lot of time on stuff that people wouldn’t even recognize as an issue. Now my audio mixing is done through OBS, already set up as a particular compression and volume that will stay in the acceptable range, with noise removal already set up.
My audio recording/editing time is closer to how long it takes to speak.
Developing each chapter card, clipping them together, having to find the font, typing everything out. These, along with getting sound effects working, took up too much time. What I did is make a plan to prepare all of these first, before anything else is added to the video, so that I know how many chapters there are. They don’t take that long to render, because of how short they are, and it takes way less time to do that than to shift gears at the end of the production day. Shifting gears every couple of minutes, that was wasting too much time, which is now changed to doing one specific task each session.
My “switching” time is removed, thus saving time.
Music was added in the beginning, as one of the first things. This was wrong to do, because of how many times I would want a clip where the music continues through it, only to realize that this continuation forced me to keep a massive background of editing history, which slows everything down through production. Adding music as the last bit, and after rendering, will save me minutes for every time I boot up the video editor, which saves hours over time when I’m going to have to go back and forth on video editing. My lifestyle only gives me an hour or two at a time to sit in front of the computer, and so editing will require less wait time for the process to warm up.
My rendering time will increase(as I go to do other things), but my waiting time will decrease.
Through my new process, I am also considering a different view of each video type. Recently, I saw a video about how kindle books are categorized between low, mid, and high content; related to how much effort it takes to make each one. My previous attempts were to, essentially, make high effort content as consistently as possible, which was going to be draining when these were events that came and went. Current news like Lindsay Ellis being stupid or DSP looking like a fool on Sidescrollers are incredibly time sensitive, which is why so many people stream these “news reports” instead of making high effort videos about them. And even if it was a long term type of video, we have to question if it REQUIRES that much effort to begin with.
My plans for the future are to measure how long I take with each session, what I get done, track down percentages, and measure what the longest steps are. Figuring out what’s causing a hold-up is the best way to prevent hold-ups, in the same way city builders (should) keep track of what’s causing traffic jams. Too many traffic jams? Get rid of cars or open more lanes. Keeping track of things is going to take minutes to save hours, which is something I should have practiced more on doing through my practicing year.
Videos are done with marketing in mind, because I don’t plan to make money from them. My “branding” is storytelling, art, art-related lolcows, and I guess that pesky culture war. People begged me to go fully political, but I think political is a step below philosophical, which is where I would rather go. I would rather explain the psychology and aesthetics of media, instead of repeating myself as to how offensive or woke something is. Yes, I make fun of Lindsay for being woke, but I explain why she is and where it comes from, which is something more important than some kind of drama farming that grifters do.
I would rather be a source of information than a pointless attack dog for someone above me, which is why I try to separate myself from the people who do such nonsense. I’m not with these movements, I don’t care to promote people I don’t care about, I’m not going to go easy on people just because “we’re on the same side”. Everyone gets made fun of or nobody gets made fun of, and I’m year of monkey, bitch. This monkey wants bananas and youtube is not going to supply any. But it supplies plenty of vines to swing around from, as I Donkey Kong my way from topic to topic.
Like anything else in life, videos need to be worth my time, meaning their expense needs to be dropped dramatically. Hour long, multi-hour long, these were excruciatingly hard to do. The next goal is to make sure everything is kept around 30min long, unless it’s going to be a bi-yearly 1 hour long video that will be the highlight of the year, which is where full book analysis videos come into play. The scripts for everything else will be written down as articles, with the better of the articles being made into low content videos.
Podcast style will be for low effort, being made weekly.
A new style will be for mid effort, which is where 30min of history or explanation is presented with video clips, being made monthly. Video game clips will be placed around here as well, unless they can be made bi-weekly.
And the classic, me in my room with my ASS computer, will be for the high content, for subjects that take far too long to make on a monthly basis.
This planning is still in the works, it’s an effort to create a strategy and a schedule for everything. The goal would be to place an hour a day per video, creating steps for each video, and using each other as progress reports for the bigger ones. It will be like placing smaller squares into bigger squares until the biggest square is complete, allowing me to visually determine my progress across such a subject. This is also a way for me to appear more productive, because content will be constantly coming out on a clear schedule. Only bad side about it is that this means 3 hours of my day are used for videos, and this won’t be possible for every day until content creation is my main job.
Before I can have this be a thing, it will be a slow, preemptive creation process, with smaller projects being made as my “short stories”, to then determine if I’m ready for a bigger “novel” of a project. And that’s how I have to approach video editing: the same way I would with storytelling. No more determining that length means better, or more time means more results. Now I’m going to obey the market, go for what’s expected of me, and react to feedback. If something doesn’t work, or doesn’t make a dent, I try something else.
I think that’s why people get mad at me, when they see that I am trying something else all the time. This is normal, but I’m told that I’m “an interloper” or “will never win” because I willingly give up on things that don’t work. Sorry, losers, but being unorganized and wasting my life is not worth it. I like money, and I like vaginas. If I wanted to be poor and wasting my life, I would have kept slamming my head against a wall and failing like most of what indie does.
And yes, the OPC reviews will be translated into videos, as well as my own short stories. I began as a crackpasta narrator, after all. I was thinking of putting a lot of radio drama production into my narrations, but I would want to keep them low effort until they start attracting all of the attention from their titles. A lot of people try to narrate their stories and they don’t make a spark anywhere with them. But as time goes on, and I get more videos under my belt, I could easily narrate for others, create a network, and get things going. It’s not that hard to get things working once you know what you’re doing.
The main time waste that we all fall for is chaotic activity and the lack of planning.

2024.05.14 19:31 jazir5 The Ultimate Wordpress Pagespeed Guide

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ncQcxnD-CxDk4h01QYyrlOh1lEYDS-DV/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=114514252262811175804&rtpof=true&sd=true
Hello again folks! Your resident performance obsessed Redditor here, with my updated Pagespeed guide! It's gone through significant revisions since the last time I posted it. It now has more than double the content up from 94 pages the last time I posted the guide to having over 240+(!!) pages of content.
Major content additions, expansions on everything that was previously in the guide, significantly better and more logical organization, revamped table of contents, grammar and spelling fixes, many new optimization strategies and much needed additional specificity.
Don’t forget to check the table of contents, it is not expanded by default! The icon is on the top left side on desktop
Included is a breakdown on how to analyze and interpret Speed Test reports to identify optimization opportunities.
There's an extensive amount of optimization information and resources for server stack configuration for NGINX, Apache, OpenLiteSpeed, Varnish, Object Caching, PHP, HAProxy, MySQL, SSL, Gzip/Brotli, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, the Google Pagespeed module, Security considerations effects on performance and Linux optimizations. There are also a bunch of resources on database optimization.
Wordpress specific optimizations: It now has sections on how to optimize common features including Ads, Forms, Woocommerce, Analytics, Google Maps, Fonts, Custom Fields, Galleries, Video Players, Sliders, Filters, SEO plugins, Anti-Spam, Cookie Notices, Backup plugins; in addition to one size fits all optimizations(Images, Videos, CDN, SSL, CSS, JS, Resource Hints, Caching etc), and tons and tons more.
Every optimization opportunity has a free plugin option (or multiple) listed. Some paid plugins are included as I find them very useful(Perfmatters and Asset Cleanup Pro for example). However I've included alternatives for all paid options. Every single thing in my guide can be implemented for free.
I've done my best to cover all of the bases you’d find in any page speed guide, in addition to a focus on adding uncommon optimization strategies and solutions that you won’t find in any off the shelf guide. This is a compilation of all of my research over the last 6 years delving into performance optimization.
I'm confident that if you follow every single step in the guide, almost any site you maintain can score 90+ on a Pagespeed Insights Mobile Speed Test.
If you notice anything missing from my performance guide that you think I should add, or if there is some information you believe needs to be amended (or expanded on), please let me know in the comments and I'll be sure to add a section or revise the content on the topic (if necessary) as soon as possible!
If you feel that the guide is too overwhelming and you'd prefer to have someone else optimize your site’s performance or need a consultation, feel free to DM me.
If anyone wants to be able to import a large set of free optimization plugins (and you can selectively choose which ones to download/install), download WP Favs. I do need to update the collection since I've added tons to the guide since the last time I posted this, but it's still comprehensive:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpfavs/
The code to import them is: JAuOGP5BZICR5LmBsPANN9kpKHfiie
https://imgur.com/a/nU1v5CU
For now the roadmap is to work on the load balancing section, new sections with optimized plugins for other common features, and anything else I can think of. I have added a ton of content since the last time, so I'm positive that there are still gaps which need to be plugged. I plan to continue adding content as I improve it, so keep an eye on the guide as it will continue to evolve over time!
If this guide helped you out, please consider buying me a coffee! (Everybody likes coffee right?)
If anyone would like to help me develop a premium optimization plugin with some unique strategies I've been thinking of, please pm me!
Edit: Added new sections with optimized plugins for every common feature I can think of, please let me know if you have any requests. Trying to stick with free options.
