Day 1 A news report breaks in [REDACTED] New York about a man waking up the previous morning, and attempting to turn on his TV to watch the latest episode of his favourite show, only for his remote to crumble in his hand. Confused as to what was going on, the man would attempt to manually turn on his TV, only to accidentally pull a chunk of it off. It was at this moment, that the man would discover that his TV had been replaced with a hyper-realistic cake. The man would question his wife about where the TV went, and why there was a hyper-realistic cake in its place. However, his wife was just as confused as he was about the entire situation at hand. The man would attempt to report this to his local authorities, claiming his TV had been stolen and replaced with a hyper-realistic cake. Only to be laughed off as a prankster due to his ridiculous claim. Angry at this, he would take his story to the local news station hoping for justice to be served to whoever stole his TV. Once again, his claims were laughed off and published as a mere joke. The man would claim that there would be more cases of people’s items being replaced with hyper-realistic cakes going forward and that they would all regret ignoring his case.
Day 29 Police reports coming from all over [REDACTED] New York would reveal the man’s words to be correct. Starting after a young woman would attempt to open her purse, only for the zip to completely come off upon being pulled and quickly break apart, taking some of the modelling chocolate with it. The governor of New York has commented on the situation claiming that he's doing all he can to try and solve the hyper-realistic cake mystery, but he can only do so much to calm the fear and paranoia that has overcome New York.
Day 93 The situation has dramatically escalated even further somehow, as the hyper-realistic cake plague has now begun heavily affecting the nearby states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and even some parts of Canada. Reports are coming in from all over the USA and even some of Mexico and South America of people’s items suddenly being replaced with ominous (albeit, tasty) hyper-realistic cakes. The president is doing nothing to quell the fear of US citizens, claiming the whole situation is ridiculous and that everyone is a fool for buying into it. People are starting to riot in the streets believing the president is not doing enough to try and prevent the appearance of hyper-realistic cakes. The safes people were using to hold their valuable items are no longer safe. The president has continued to display pure apathy to the situation, claiming the whole thing to be a farce, until he discovered one morning his wife had been turned into a hyper-realistic cake. Yesterday, after weeks and weeks of nothing. An extremely tired officer managed to catch a woman attempting to replace a baby with a hyper-realistic cake. She was immediately brought to Washington DC where the president would proceed to scream and cry at her for hours before demanding she be placed in a holding cell so she could be questioned the following day. The president demanded a search for any evidence indicating how she could've escaped, but they were unable to find anything. He'd soon begin to believe the cake was a being that was more powerful than any of them, and that it needed to be eradicated at all costs. The presidents would proceed to declare Marshall law and cut off all transport to other countries. People, seeing exactly what was going to happen, attempted to escape the country by piloting the planes and boats themselves. Only to discover the planes and boats were all hyper-realistic cakes, that were unable to fly and would easily sink in water. The mob quickly overpowered anyone left supporting the president with sheer numbers, and they swiftly beat the president to death in a manner too disturbing to even attempt to describe. Day 294 Shortly after the president's death, the USA descended into chaos. Many don't even believe there's anyone left out there, and that they were all killed by the president. People quickly began to believe the president was right, and that all the other countries were now just cake. But they took it one step further, they now began to ponder if the entire globe itself was just one giant cake. People began getting so scared of others being cake, that they would attempt to cut anyone they meet just to see if they were cake. There is no food left now besides hyper-realistic cakes, and many are so scared of them that they refuse to even go near them, let alone attempt to eat them. Day 334 Not even a year following the first-ever incident, the last human being on earth has died today. Alone, cold and afraid. There is nothing left. No trees, no grass, no water, no animals, no humans, nothing. The only thing that remains now is the hyper-realistic cakes. And that, is the story, of how I destroyed humanity with FUCKING CAKES! I guess in the end you could say… it was real.

Weird one today, seemed worthy of posting. Backstory - In 2017 we hired a boomer builder to design an addition to our house. The results were not quite as promised, I was expecting something we could hand off to a GC to start the build, ultimately they were more conceptual drawings, not really engineered drawings that could be used. I posted a meh google review (2 stars FWIW), he responded, I forgot about it and moved on with life.
This January I get a message from my dad, who is in a Rotary club with said boomer builder, asking why I posted another review so long after the fact. I looked into it a bit, someone had copy pasta'd my google review into Yelp pretending to be me. The builder had responded with a whole manifesto on how wrong I was. I emailed him letting him know that it was not me, I've moved on, but that I'd help get the review removed. I reported it and after a bit of back and forth they pulled it. Though it would be odd to angrily repost a review 7 years on I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and I thought that was the end of it.
Today I get another message from my dad, similar question, this time on Angi. I find the review and report it and send a brief email to the builder saying it's still not me but I'd still help remove it. I also deleted my google review because I just don't care anymore.
Then I get a forwarded email from my dad. The builder had written an unhinged angry rant but misspelled my email so I hadn't received it. Mother fucker, you think 4 months after someone (presumably an enemy of yours) found a fairly good way to give you negative press that I HELPED REMOVE, I would randomly decide to just go ahead and copy paste the same review elsewhere? No you dumb twat, it's the same shit as last time. You could have taken five seconds to dig around that entitlement riddled memory of yours to put two and two together, but instead you decided to be a knob.
He did manage to get my wife's email right, and she is not someone who takes any shit. She has since made sure he knows what we think of him now. I'm half tempted to go ahead and actually repost that review everywhere, but honestly I'm finding it kind of funny at this point and I'll probably just let things lie.

Follow up on previous post I posted regarding my background check screening and that I originally inflated my employment dates one was by a year and another by couple months . 02/13/2024: mailed packet to USCIS Chicago Lockbox 02/16/2024: USCIS has received documents notice was mailed out 02/28/2024: Biometrics reused, I-485 changed to being actively reviewed. 05/25/2024: I-130 Approval 05/27/2024: I-485 Approval 05/28/2024: Card is being produced
Interview was waived. Used no lawyer. Case was never transferred and stayed at NBC the whole time. Whenever I would check the case progress would go from 3 months to 9 months then to 18 months and pretty much stayed there the whole time. Now my wife had gotten an email that there was action taken on the case this past Saturday. When she logged into the online case status, the approval for the I-130 was in the documents tab.
Today I did a live chat with a Emma simply out of curiosity to see the status and was told my I-485 was approved and the card was in the process of being produced.
It’s bitter sweet. I’m not really sure what to feel exactly. I can finally plan a future beyond DACA. I do hope that those out there receive their approvals soon!

I recently came across a case at the Residential Tenancy Branch with these 'tenants' who rented a luxury condominium Downtown. ALEXANDER DAVID HEWITT and SIMRITA SHAHEED rented a 2 bedroom condo on a 3.5 month term and weeks later we started getting reports from the neighbors and building staff that different people were coming in and out of the property.
Alec and Simrita sign up leases pretending to be working from home tenants and put units on airbnb as well as other short term booking platforms to make money. They trick landlords by asking for virtual tours and asking to email the lease, never meeting in person (1st red flag). Significant damage was caused to the property, they did not pay their rent and left the property in a terrible condition. They stole furniture and personal possessions and left without completing a walk-through. They stopped responding to emails from their landlord requesting a walk through and would not provide a forwarding address (likely as they knew they had no defense for their actions). They threatened the landlord by saying if they didn't return their rent and deposit, they would go to the city and building and make reports of short term rentals. Fortunately the landlord is holding them accountable and we will be following the results of this tenancy arbitration.

I mean these are the neediest bunch, in all my years of customer service, I’ve ever dealt with. They don’t understand basic billing breakdown. Can’t even get a crash report online or call the police non-emergency line to get one. I have people ask me what their full term premium is, then ask me to break down monthly. Sure, let me get out a calculator just like you are capable of doing. Six month term. Divide the full premium by six. Boom! There you go. People who own properties and businesses won’t keep record of their payments filed throughout the year. Then they suddenly need us to conjure up every payment receipt for said properties and businesses, at the last damn minute for their taxes. You’d think, being a business/property owner, you’d know to hold onto that shit. For, duh, tax purposes. And those same people will do this to us every damn year because they don’t learn!
We have some of the same customers call multiple times a week. Every week. They never need anything important.
People call wanting us to send their mortgage company proof of homeowners insurance but can’t provide a fax or email for us to send it to. “Can’t you just call my mortgage company and get that? I lost the notice that had that information.” Sure, I’d be happy to sit on hold with your mortgage company for 30 minutes. Never mind it’s just myself and one other person and our phones are ringing off the hook. Many calls will have to go to voicemail, because apparently you can’t be bothered to call your own bank and get the info on a document you lost, yourself.
Their minds are blown over late fees and declined payments fees. And even more mind blown over the fact that paying their bills on time is their own responsibility and trying to blame something/someone else won’t work.
If someone had told me that working as an insurance representative was more like babysitting full grown adults, I’d have stuck with something else. I mean…these people! I don’t know how they know what shoe goes on which foot. They need their hands held through every damn thing.

me and my fiance shared a house with my sister and her husband (my brother in law). for about 3 or 4 months before we got this house together, me and my fiance lived at my sister and bil’s house, but we decided we needed an actual home to move into, where we could all have our own space. it was okay for maybe two months, before my bil went into me and my fiancé’s room, rummaged through all of our things, and stole our weed. i’m talking every single drawer. every single box. every single laundry basket. EVERYTHING. he stole probably about 8-9 grams. after that happened, my sister then started to send me harassing messages almost every single day. she’d start problems between me and my fiance, and the negative energy in the house was just getting to be too much, me and my fiance started to fight almost every day, and that’s very weird for her and i. we’d never been in any arguments as bad as we were in after this happened. well, last sunday (5-19-24), we sat her down, and told her we were breaking the lease and moving out. she didn’t take it well at all, and started trying to guilt trip us into feeling bad for her. we still held our own, and were getting ready to move out. tuesday, 5-21-24, she had multiple people message me and tell us to get our things out because she wasn’t going to be used as a storage unit. side note: me and my fiance work almost every day, upwards of 45 hours a week. we got most of our things out 5-22-24. 5-27-24 we got the rest of our things out. she proceeded to text me and try and start things by saying someone has been telling her lies about us, and she decided to confront us about it like adults, but she was just fishing, trying to get things out of us. not even 3 hours later, i get a notification from my email, saying someone from the town she lives in, with the same phone type, was trying to get into my account. where all of my bank account info is, streaming services, social media, you name it. my entire life is in that email. i confronted her about it, and she said it wasn’t her, but she was good at hacking people, blah blah blah. so, i called the cops, made a report, and will be getting a ppo filed. i have over 120 screenshots of her harassing me, and that’s not even all of it. i feel like im going to far, since she is my sister, but im tired of the constant harassment, and now the fact that she’s trying to hack into my things? its too much

Most victims of these types later developed anxiety or depression, if not PTSD. Stealing their money in clandestine ways was a constant.

. As shown in Table 6, 21% of respondents said they saw a total personality change—"the mask came off." Respondents also spontaneously mentioned behaviors that associated with ASPD, such as a lack of empathy, an increase in callous-type behaviors (e.g. abuse or cruelty), as well as an increase in lies and manipulation. Hanging back at the ranger station today, seems like it should be a nice weekend. Weather cleared up after that long ass winter and the snows about cleared up. We’ve been tasked with monitoring this herd of elk moving through the area. I guess they’ve been displaying some “anomalous” behavior, approaching tourists seemingly unaware or unafraid of the potential danger. Odd but not unlike anything we’ve seen before. I’ve had Tim Dog posted up in the hunter’s perch for a few hours watching em. Gonna go radio for a report pretty soon. Other than that not much going on out here. Just the wind rustling in the pines and my good old girl Taby. She’s such a sweet dog :)

Entry: Something strange is going on here. Tim is back but with some interesting news. He spent another day up there monitoring the herd, but…. Something’s off. He used the Elk call we gave him and it worked, but it seems it might’ve worked a bit too well. Soon as the herd showed up, they just…. watched him. For hours. He was too scared to climb back down so he radio’d for a couple rangers. Rangers came and tried scaring em off, but the Elk wouldn’t budge. They just stood there, staring at him. In my 25 years of doing this I’ve never once seen Elk behave this way. Our current hypothesis is some kind of infection, but so far there just isn’t enough to say. I don’t like this. Not one bit. We’re gonna try to take samples from the Elk in hopes of finding out what in God’s name is going on out here.

Entry: Well it’s official - something is going on. We took samples of blood and urine from the Elk to be analyzed back at the lab in Sac. One of the rangers spotted what looked like some kind of tick or parasite latched onto one of the Elk. But when he tried to remove the Elk went berserk. Smacked him up badly and he had to go to the medic. We got a closer look after isolating one of em and it seems to track. We found a small, worm-like creature attached just beneath the haunch, tucked in the skin between the abdomen and the haunch of the Elk. It was half burrowed inside and didn’t seem to respond to any physical contact, but when we went for removal, the Elk started acting up again. So we latched it down and tried tranquilizing it. No dice. Elk won’t go to sleep. Won’t do anything except eat and stare. There is no way we’re dealing with some novel species. The hell is going on here? A larva that infects Elk—in North America none the less? It’s stranger than fiction. Anyway I’ve been having trouble sleeping the past few nights pondering the possibilities. In other news apparently some of the townies have been acting up lately. Man found dead out on the trail along with a few others in the same spot. Signs of predation after death. Folks been reporting hearing and witnessing strange behavior from their neighbors. The more I stay here the less I feel safe. If it weren’t for my job security I’d have left days ago. This place is starting to give me the creeps.

Entry: Lab reports came back. Supposedly heightened amounts of adrenaline and cortisol are present in the blood. They also found trace amounts of what seem to be tiny hairs, mycelia-like in nature. What. The. Fuck. We’ve begun postulating there could be some sort of fungal infection but this wouldn’t track with the presence of larvae in our Elk. None of it makes sense. I’m concerned we’re dealing with some sort of invasive species but I lack any explanation of what it could be. My sleep has become worse and worse over time. Lately I could swear I’m hearing shit. Thought I heard the voice of old Tim saying “Help, Help” in between strange mumblings and clickings. But when I get out of my bunk to look around—nothing. Hope I’m not losing it. I’ve heard the townies have been acting up even worse. Wandering about aimlessly in the woods. There was a bear attack just yesterday. Apparently the man sat there while the bear ate him, completely straight faced. I put in a request for transport back home to Sacramento. I’m done with this shit. I’ve seen enough. This ain’t the one for me. I know some young up and comer might want to come out here to finish my research. But I’m getting too old for this type of shit. I want to see my kids graduate.

This could be my last entry. I honestly don’t know. I’m to wait for transport home hopefully by July 2nd but I don’t know if I’ll make it that long. Tim is gone. He’s gone. Found dead in a cougar’s den about 10 miles away from base camp. But I swear to God I keep hearing him. I think I’ve lost my mind. There’s something in the goddamned cellar. And it’s mimicking Tim. I can hear him cry. I can hear him beg for my help. It’s real. I swear to God it’s real. I can’t get a wink of sleep and I’m counting the minutes till sun down every night. I’m scared. I want to go home. The rangers all left base camp overnight. I don’t blame them. Something’s the matter. Half the population in town has gone mad. People in droves, just wandering into the woods.
I’m going to go into the basement. I need to find out for myself what’s really going on here. Janelle, I love you. I’ll never forget that time we spent in Bora Bora after you finished your thesis. I just made an order online this morning to have a technician come to install Fios at the new home I'm buying, and once I finished making the order, I was told to make a new account so I can track the status of the order. I have never had service before so this is my first time using the website.
I tried to make an account but I was given an error, and was booted back to the homepage. After going through registering a new account, I got a confirmation email for my order with an order number and everything. However, when I try to login to my new account and link the order I just made to it, I get back an error that says "You are already registered with My Verizon" but I don't have any account that it could possibly be linked to?? So I'm basically stuck with no way to track my order or even connect my eventual bill to the account. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. Has this happened to anyone else starting a new account for the first time? This is so annoying.

So I just transitioned from grassroots fundraising into a major gift officer. In my previous role, I was soliciting up to $5k gifts through canvassing. I’ve taken on this new role at a new org and I feel totally your of my league… I’m the only one on the team specifically doing major gifts, although everyone from the CEO to the philanthropy volunteer fundraises. As a canvasser, you get your stack of members and decide how to approach them but you really only have one shot at making the conversation happen and it’s immediate - you pitch, you ask, you get the money and leave. I don’t think that’s the case with this new job (all I know is that they do a lot of cold calling - I still don’t know what they even do on those calls and when I’ve asked it wasn’t really explained).
Here are my instincts for moving forward into the match campaign with my new portfolio:
1) assess the portfolio and put people into tiers 2) send out emails to portfolio members individually based on their giving capacity to introduce myself as a new employee/their new contact with our org 3) with major donors (at this org, $1k+) invite out to meet for a cup of coffee or lunch 4) once campaign starts, start calling mid level people to invite to donate on the phone 5) start meeting with major donors to solicit gifts for match campaign?? The match campaign only goes until the end of July, does that give me enough time? This is where I get confused. I’m more than happy to do that, but is that too presumptuous? What I’ve been reading about is that at most nonprofits, major gift cultivation and solicitation takes time, not just me showing up and asking for a big check over my first cup of coffee with them, right? The match campaign only lasts until the end of July, which doesn’t feel like it gives me enough time to build a relationship. I can’t really get a litmus test done on how people are fundraising currently, because no one really is doing it actively (hence hiring me). My goal is to raise my salary as soon as possible to prove they made the right decision, but I’m struggling to find my footing.
