The Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”

2024.05.18 13:59 Yurii_S_Kh The Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”

The Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”
A wonderful healing has been given to us through your holy icon, O Sovereign Lady Theotokos. By its appearance we have been delivered from spiritual and physical ills, and from sorrowful circumstances. We therefore offer our thankful praise to you, O merciful Protectress.
From the akathist to the Icon of the Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”
“The Inexhaustible Cup” wonderworking icon of the Holy Theotokos
The excellent Russian author Ivan Sergeyevich Shmelev (1873-1950) who wrote much about everyday life of pious Orthodox people of the pre-Revolution Russia, described, among other things, the veneration of the wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God “The Inexhaustible Cup” which appeared in 1878 in Serpukhov (a town some 100 kilometers/c.62 miles south of Moscow) and kept at Vladychny Convent of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple. This is an extract from that work:
“…Peasant wagons move towards the convent along forest tracks. Exhausted women bring their near and dear from hundreds of miles away: raving, yelling with savage voices, men of bestial appearance try to release themselves from ropes. “The Inexhaustible Cup” heals the disease of drunkenness. Those who have lost their human appearance gaze at the indescribable Icon with their maddened eyes, not understanding What and Who She is—She Who radiantly looks at them with a golden chalice, bright, and drawing them to Herself—and they calm down. And while quiet young girls in white headscarves carry it and sing with joyful voices, thousands of those whose souls suffer and seek consolation fall down beneath it to the dirty ground. Unseeing, inflamed eyes stare at the bright icon with wild looks and cry excitedly, “I give up alcoholism (I promise to give up)!” Hysterical women writhe and utter curses, tearing their blouses… and in excitement fix their gaze on the eyes that draw attention to themselves. Betrothed couples come and hang pink ribbons—an earnest of happiness. Young mothers bring their first-born children, and the icon looks joyfully at them. What draws all of them to her nobody can explain—no one has found the words to express their inward feelings. I only feel that joy enters the soul.”
In his marvelous story with the same name Shmelev told one of the legends associated with “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon, according to which a serf master named Ilia had painted this icon. The official history is silent about this, but it is this story that the wonderworking icon owes its fame, though, first of all, it is its miraculous power to heal alcoholism.
In our troubled times, as it was a century ago, hundreds and thousands of people are flocking to Serpukhov and praying for healing. The gifts of the Christians who were healed from this sickness, their children and other family members, with which the pedestal of the icon is covered, are more precious than all golden settings. Today pilgrims are spreading the healing oil from icon lamps of the wonderworking icon along with the water which is blessed during prayer services all over Russia.
Monasteries and convents from time immemorial were sources of that holy and mysterious peace, which every suffering Christian soul always sought after. Such was the Vladychny monastic community of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple in Serpukhov, which was founded in 1360 at the border of then the Principality of Moscow, at the confluence of the rivers Nara and Oka. The latter river was called “the belt of the Mother of God” because it separated and protected Holy Rus’ from the wild steppe, “amid a pine grove and mansion-like red wood.” From the first days of its existence the invisible streams of grace spread from here to all parts of Russia. Initially it was a monastery for men, established during the abbacy of Venerable Varlaam, a former assistant of the Holy Metropolitan Alexis of Moscow. It was also under the spiritual care of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The chronicles relate that the great Abbot of the Russian Land (that is, St. Sergius) came here at the beginning of winter 1374 together with his disciple, Venerable Athanasius, and prayed at the cathedral of Vladychny Monastery, built of white stone. The legend of the foundation of this monastery also mentions a miraculous apparition of the Most Pure Virgin to Venerable Varlaam: “The vision showed to the builder that even angels would help him in his labors of building the church and preserve the monastery, that the Queen of Heaven Herself would dwell in this church as She had been present in the Temple of Jerusalem.”
And several centuries later this promise was fully fulfilled.

By the end of the eighteenth century Vladychny Monastery was declining and decaying. The services all but stopped, the scanty brethren dispersed, and the churches were falling into ruin. However, Metropolitan Platon (Levshin; 1737-1812) of Moscow, through whose efforts the spiritual prosperity of the great Optina and other monasteries began, did not forget Vladychny Monastery either—it was near this monastery that he had spent his childhood. The metropolitan obtained the permission of emperor Alexander I (1777-1825) to re-establish this monastic community as a nunnery and in 1806 first nuns came to live there. A quarter of a century later, another great archpastor, Holy Hierarch Philaret (Drozdov; 1782-1867) of Moscow introduced the strict ancient rules of desert community life into the convent. Thus he restored the spirit of monastic disdain for riches (“nestyazhanye” – “non-acquisitiveness” in Russian) and providentially prepared the convent to receive such a holy shrine as “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon.
In the first year of the abbacy of Abbess Maria, namely in 1878, a peasant of the Tula province—a retired soldier who had a passion for alcohol for many years—in a vision saw a certain elder who commanded him to go to Serpukhov, to find the Icon “The Inexhaustible Cup” and to hold the a supplicatory prayer service before it. The old, penniless soldier, exhausted by his hard drinking, had absolutely no strength to go to Serpukhov. Soon the vision occurred again and the poor elderly soldier literally crawled to the convent on all fours. On the very first night of his ascetic journey the man suddenly felt that his legs began to obey him again.
Reaching the convent, he put its nuns to confusion as they knew nothing of the icon with this name. Then they remembered that an icon hung in one of the convent passages: on it the Infant Christ blesses the worshippers as if coming from a chalice for Communion; behind Him the Mother of God raises Her most pure hands—in the same manner as on icons of “The Sign”. Everybody was greatly amazed when they saw the inscription “The Inexhaustible Cup” on the back of the icon! Remarkably, when the man came up to the shrine of St. Varlaam, he at once recognized in him the holy elder who had appeared to him in the vision and commanded to go to the Mother of God for healing from alcoholism. The news of the wondrous miracle rapidly spread over many towns and villages: from everywhere those possessed with this terrible passion flocked to the miracle-working icon, venerated “The Inexhaustible Cup” and gave up drinking; thus peace and quiet began to reign in their homes—and all this was through the prayers of the Protectress of the mankind.

The tradition of this miracle-working icon explains that, “The Inexhaustible Cup” is, according to the akathist, “the one who draws up joy from the source of immortality,” the source of consolation, healing, life and various spiritual gifts and happiness. And let everybody see the hidden spiritual meaning in the fact that “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon became a source of saving hopes and cures from the wicked passion of alcoholism: the Mother of God is praying for every single sinner; She, the merciful one, knows the suffering of those who give themselves over to debauchery, knows how strong is the desire of many of them to rid themselves of this brutal vice, but cannot find strength to struggle. So the Most Pure Virgin reminds them through Her holy Icon “The Inexhaustible Cup” that She is the inexhaustible wellspring of grace and spiritual joy, that She pours out from Her ever-inexhaustible cup heavenly delight into their withered hearts; drinking of it, they will begin to hate that ruinous liquid which once invincibly attracted them to itself.
Such sufferers at any time and in every place should resort to the all-powerful intercession of the Most Pure Virgin, making it the rule to read the angelic salutation, “Theotokos Virgin, rejoice” at least three times a day. No matter how deeply rooted the cursed passion of drunkenness may be, it cannot withstand the gracious help of the Holy Theotokos.
Troparion tone 4:
Today we faithful come to the divine and miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, who fills the faithful from the Inexhaustible Cup of her mercy and shows them great miracles; and we who have seen them and heard of them rejoice in our heart and cry out, with deep feeling and devotion: O all-merciful sovereign Lady, heal our ills and our passions by praying to thy Son, Christ our God, that He may save our souls! Amen.

2024.05.11 18:34 Kyliee657 Acne prone skin but flaky and patchy skin after applying makeup?

I’ll make this short:
I have clear skin overall but recently I been dealing with this huge deep pimple on my cheek that’s getting little better and 3 others on the same cheek. I was prescribed dapsone gel. In the past when I dealt with the same breakout on that side of face that cleared it all up. Sometimes I do alternate products. I would use dapsone gel 2 times a day ( dr said I can) with sunscreen and my tinted moisturizer. Or one night I’ll just use benzyl peroxide and sometimes put drying lotion spot treatment on the pimples that I need to get rid of. I know there all drying products. I sometimes forget to moisturize my skin recently and I know it’s very dehydrated because my skin breaking out. So now I’m focusing on hydrating. I went to selfies month ago and they gave me murad moisturizer rhe gel one. I feel like it’s not really good. I use to have peter Thomas drench cream and loved it but the girl convinced to try this one. I feel like when I apply makeup recently it’s not glowy. I’m using foundation is ILIA( I think it’s called ) serum skin tint. I been using it for while now and it’s my favorite. I love natural glowy look but recently my skin isn’t looking glowy with it on now. When I apply in that one spot of the pimple I apply concealer and it looks so flaky. There’s flakes around my lip and especially on my eye lids. My forehead as well. It looks horrible. My skin looks so separated and flaky. I notice dry skin is coming off if that makes sense. Before it went on perfectly and looked glowy and smooth. I know I have to hydrate my skin but I don’t know what to use to hydrate. The. Last weekend when I applied makeup it looked flaky and patchy and really really dry and you can see pores. Then the next day I really tried to hydrate my skin and waited couple mins to move on different product and took my time this time my makeup was separating now??? Towards the end of the day. I read it’s because too much product or too much hydration. I think it’s something to do with the moisturizer? It’s not hydrating. Also I do put sunscreen on before applying ilia tinted serum. Any tips please

2024.05.10 19:16 weirdddj Clean skin tint recommendations

I need an spf skin tint that covers a good amount (for a skin tint) but still leaves a natural finish. It also needs to have clean ingredients! I currently use ILIA spf skin tint and I like it, but a while into wearing it I find it separates on my skin kind of and starts to look weird. Any recommendations? 😊

2024.05.04 01:59 Osteban_Econ [TP][FSA] How Four Sword Adventures confirm Link from Twilight Princess succeeds to see Midna again.

Hi folks,
So few days ago, I just remembered the end of Twilight Princess really hard, at the point I had the same gut wrenching feeling that 15 years before when I finished this game for the first time. So I think about it, and want to share with you a point of view about the end a sequel of Twilight Princess, and how Four Sword Adventures, Ocarina of Time, and precise words of Midna can bring us "evidences" that Link eventually managed to join Midna.
This Journey was amazing, the relationship between Link and Midna is one, if not the best developed in the entire saga. I love how she starts by being sassy, bossy, self-centered, then step by step become closer to Link, being more and more concerned, careful, and teasing more than rude. All this punctuated by truly complicit moments, with some gazing games between them, soft caress on the cheek and all. Until the end where Midna reveals her true form to Link, being so self-confident she teasing Link more frankly with her "Am I so beautiful you have no words left ?", and Link who start having a different look at her (and a jaw breaked). She's no longer the funny imp, she's now the beautiful Princess of the Twilight (I mean look at his blissful smile, then tell me you smile to a friend like this).
Anyway, we all know what happened after, Midna shattered the Mirror leaving them separated "forver"... But... these unspoken feelings, then this mirror breaks sound so sudden. I mean this isn't a street corner flirtation from someone you're probably never going to see again. We're talking about two people who spent entire weeks literally glued to each other, cheating death and having crazy adventures. I can't bring myself to say that the farewells shown during the credits could be enough for anyone going through such a situation. Besides, can we speak of farewells? Midna does not use this term for Link. She says "see you".
Part I :
That's my first point. Why Midna lose a tear for Link ? And why she didn't tell him explicitly goodbye forever ? Even if we talk about royal duties, her way of thinking "darkness and light cannot mix", she has no sentimental reason to get attached to him and leave a door open if she is certain to completely cut ties with him by breaking the Mirror. My guess is : by just saying "See you" and telling him nothing more, she secretly hopes for Link to comeback to her. But she's not blind. She knows that Ilia also had gazes on Link, and Link is still an inhabitant of Hyrule, so she cannot forces him to go with her.
And this would match to her elusive attitude she takes when she is in control of the situation: if you want me, come and get me (in all honesty, eh ! Although...). In the same way that after breaking her chain, she teased Link to search and get out of the cell on his own to join her behind the grate while she could pass through the same grate, she go in her world through a grate Link cannot pass in the same way as her. It's entirely possible that she expects Link to find another way to come to the Twilight if that's he really want. And knowing his determination and his courage, she has credible hopes for his success. After all, Midna carries a part of Light within her, just as Link carries a part of Darkness within him. As she stands in Hyrule, he can stands in Twilight.
But in that case why Midna would break the Mirror ? Well even though Midna preaches for non-adherence between the two worlds, she concedes that the two worlds cannot exist without each other. And knowing the nature of both worlds, how parallel they're and that they're both designed by the Goddesses, she is not stupid to the point of believing that a single mirror in front of a monolith is the only bridge between the two worlds. She knows that there are other portals, and that there always will be, because Darkness and Light are not like oil and water. They are not two sides of the same coin, they are entangled together to form a single coin.
No, Midna breaks a specific Mirror. She breaks the Cursed Mirror in the Arbiter's Grounds. She breaks the Mirror that was a symbol of crimes, and darker past. And this mirror is the only one known in Hyrule, not the Only One existing...
Part II :
So at this point, we analyze Midna's actions, now what about Link ? Why would he want to go looking to Midna ? She actually mirror-zoned him in the hardest way. Well, it may not have escaped your notice, but this Link has a mentor. And not just anyone, since it is the Hero of Time. I.E. the young Link from Ocarina of Time. And what did this Link at the end of OoT ? He went looking for Navi, his traveling companion. The manga more or less confirms that after TP, Link go join Golden Wolf, probably to master his training. But the Hero of Time is dead. And all along the game it feels like he had some regrets in his life. He must have realized the strong bond that united Link and Midna, and I am convinced that he let Link understand that if he wanted to find Midna, he should not hesitate, otherwise he would have regrets. And Link, even if he don't speak, know that "See you" does not mean "goodbye forever".
Another thing with that game is that Link is not the link, and Zelda is not the princess. Here, Midna is the princess, and Zelda is the link between the princess and her faith. Link knows what a Twilight Mirror looks like, and Zelda knows a lot about Religion and Myths. As Ganondorf, and so the Triforce, is no more, she could easily let Link going to Twilight Realm. She knows only Link and her can go through, and even if she respects Midna decision, she should be more glad to have kind of cooperation between Light and Twilight. We can imagine they do search to find another way to join the Twilights, and eventually find it : a second mirror, the Dark Mirror.
Part III :
In Four Sword Adventures, Darkness invade Hyrule because of a magical artifact : the Dark Mirror, which is hidden deep within a Temple. The Dark Mirror has the ability to materialize the dark side of the person who lookt at it. But don't you have a feeling of déjà vu ? Yeah that fckn screamer of Yeta becoming Blizzeta. Have you notice any ressemblance between Yeta face and Dark Link faces ? The fact their skin is dark almost black, and their eyes crimson red. It would be a big coincidence that two mirrors, both pointing towards "darkness", had the same effects on people, right? Even though Hyrule Warriors is not canon, Midna is said to use FSA's Dark Mirror to launch her attacks, not TP's Mirror. So what if, in front of a monolith, this Dark Mirror could be a gate to Twilight Realm ? "OK but maybe someone else find out this mirror between TP and FSA" well, as we said previously, the Mirror of the Arbiter's Grounds is the only one KNOWN from all Hyrule. Apart TP Zelda and TP Link, who in the world could have the idea to look at a mirror like this ? And why a mirror like this, unknown from everyone during TP could be in the center of a Temple of Darkness ? My guess is TP Link, old and tired, didn't take time to hide this item, leaving it more in evidence. Eventually some cultists/dark tribes, over the centuries, sacralized the mirror to the point a Temple was built around it to hide it, leading to the events of FSA.
Conclusion :
LONG STORY SHORT... My final theory/perception of the Twilight Princess sequels is : Link, disappointed to see his friend (or more?) leave, decides to return to train with the Hero of Time. The latter, already tested by Navi's departure, pushed him to find by all means the woman who must logically haunt his thoughts. Helped by Zelda who also did not want a break between the two worlds, they ended up finding a mirror that can lead to the Twilight Realm. Unaffected by the demonic effects of these mirrors thanks to the Triforce, they used it to travel to the Twilight Realm, and Link goes to find Midna. Midna who, probably wishing to abruptly cut off their relationship to avoid suffering heartbreak, internally hoped that Link would find a way to return to her if he felt like it, despite the apparent total break between their two worlds . TP Link and Midna were reunited again, to everyone's happiness. What they did together, whether it was drinking pints or making babies (note that the two are not incompatible as long as they are done in that order), I leave to everyone's interpretation. Years and years later, this same Mirror, left in evidence for the world such as Cursed Mirror, lead to Four Sword Adventures events.
I hope you enjoy reading me, and if you feel like it, I invite you to discuss it

2024.04.25 19:29 qualified_to_be Cushion vs stick foundation

Hello beautiful people, I’ve been weighing on which I should further look into for myself as a daily natural, no makeup days where I cover up some blemishes and my red cheeks (I have rosacea) but not the whole of my face. The reason I’m looking for a separate face product for daily wear is because I find that putting on my regular foundation, beauty sponge and all proceeds me to do the rest of the full face makeup because my features look a little washed out after putting on full foundation. An all or nothing mentality, I know.
I have convenience in mind so nothing where I’d have to set it with powder. On that note, I also am a big fan of using my fingers for blending, is this something I can get away with for stick foundations?
I also have a difficulty finding a shade for me as I’m pretty pale and am neutral (but cool leaning). I’m F1Netural (About-Face), 130N (Anastasia BH), N0.5 (L’Oréal true match)
I’d greatly appreciate any anecdotes or suggestions from those who’s tried one or both. Any specific product recs? For cushions, I was looking at AB (either unleashia or clio maybe?) as far as foundation sticks… Would have to go to Sephora and see what did match me. Mainly looking at ilia, basma, and huda? Medium, natural coverage.
Foundation Sticks:
Pros: •more accessible •ability to swatch for best shade match •more targeted, controlled applications
Cons: •more $$$
Cushion Foundations:
Pros: •cheaper • can buy refills
Cons: •broad applications, could replace a foundation though (neutral) •Online only, would have to guess shade and hope for the best wouldn’t be able to return to Stylevana

2024.04.24 20:48 RVAIsTheGreatest Thoughts on Ilias Kamardine

French PG Ilias Kamardine declared for the draft yesterday: https://twitter.com/hmanakyan/status/1782544394886762922 He won MVP for France in the U20 FIBA Europe championships last season. He declared for the draft last year but has more buzz this time around and looks to be staying in.
He's listed at 6'4. He's on the thin side, but he's a really good athlete. Fast in the open floor and quick with a head of steam, has a decent first step, can play above the rim in the halfcourt, and is slithery. He's got a lot of shake with the ball and he changes speeds well both as a strider and with his dribble, he loves the crossover-into-hesitation-and-attack move. He plays with a lot of flair and can handle and finish with both hands.
I'm not as high on him as a lot of Europeans are on draft twitter in part because he's never been a consistent outside shooter and has shot around 30% from 3 this season in competitions for JA Vichy in Pro B, France's second division. I don't think he's a non-shooter and his mechanics aren't bad, he shoots it out in front of his face a little but they're not bad, but the results aren't there, although I do think in large part it's due to shot selection. JA Vichy is having a strong season and he's a creative playmaker who has nice timing in the PnR and has all the passes in his arsenal and with both hands. He's got solid vision as a passer and makes nice and quick finds, even if his decision making isn't top class.
I think his decision making is better than it was but it isn't elite and he'll force shots rather than work the offense or find an open man. He's not an amazing finisher around the rim because he'll get swallowed up. He doesn't consistently create clean separation when looking to drive. He's got shake but isn't always decisive in creating space...not comparing him at all to Julian Newman but that's an example of someone that has a flashy handle and nice control but not consistently creating space with the handle. He does have some impressive moments. He has the tools to be a good defender but his strength drawbacks hurt him on this end and he gives up driving angles too easily, even though he moves well laterally.
All of that being said, I also think he has a game that translates better to American basketball than European basketball; I think he's someone who will be at his best as a PnR PG and in transition which is something that he'll see a lot here, so I think he's someone that has the raw talent that's worth developing here in the United States. What do you all think about Ilias Kamardine?

2024.04.11 23:50 Glittering-Stand-161 How would you have improved the writing of Bumbleby?

I like BB but I do agree with the good faith people who point out there are some issues with the writing. CRWBY are people, people are not perfect. So with the benefit of hindsight CRWBY didn't really have what if anything would you change about Bumble's writing?
Personally I would get rid of Adam, he's a gross creep and honestly kind of muddies the waters about what the WF were originally supposed to be about, it seems like there was originally supposed to be a more nuanced take on the WF storyline but that got sidetrack cause the main face of it was a creepy, grooming stalker who SOUNDS like a cliched anime villian.
I would have had Sienna take his place but instead of lovers I would have made her and Blake have a mentor-mentee relationship and Blake still leaves because she disagrees with her methods.
Would have established their bisexuality alot earlier in canon to, maybe have Yang admire some girls as well as boys at initiation. I know some people consider them just lesbians but Bisexual-erasure in media is a thing and I don't want to contribute to it.
I love Sun, he's great I like the fact that even though he doesn't get with Blake he still clearly cares about her and that a man and a woman can be friends. That being said I would take him out of the narrative and have had Yang be the one to find and help her with the WF stuff in volume 1 and 2.
It helps avoid the cast bloat and will help set up the story pairing alot earlier. Which brings me to my next point.
I would have them get together MUCH earlier, like say they agree to go to the prom as friends and have such a good time together that they decide to date afterwards. Would make the drama of Blake leaving that much more heart wrenching.
Ilia can be her sidekick in Menagerie.
I would also have more tension between them in volume 6. I didn't really like Weiss going to talk to Yang and convincing her to forgive Blake, it was cute but I feel it was being uncharitable to Yang and that she was essentially being peer pressured into forgiving Blake. Yang had a justifiable reason to be upset and her feelings deserved to be acknowledged.
People in love fight, they have disagreements, they hurt each other. It happens, the only way Yang and Blake's relationship will survive and get stronger is if they learn to TALK about their problems and learn from their mistakes. Weiss isn't always going to be around to play councilor when they have an issue.
So have Yang be upset with Blake but putting up with her for the sake of the Team. Have Blake try to jump through hoops to earn her forgiveness, be too protective of her which messes with their symmetry and let them have their own side plot where they get separated from the others during the Argus Express fight.
They have to rely on each other to survive and Yang has to learn to trust Blake again, they fight a giant grimm or some former White Fang that went after Blake and then after they beat it/them they have the same tearful apology scene from volume 6.
From there our two precious beans can have a healthier more developed relationship.
Once again this is not to bash BB or CRWBY but a good faith discussion airing out some issues I had with the writing of the pairing and wanting to see your guys input.
I have plenty of issues with my other favorite ships like Renora, and Arkos too but this is a thread about Bumblebee.

Clinique acne clearing gel- unsure if this really works or not Towed 28 duo (no longer available)- love these glosses because they aren’t sticky, but they sometimes feel too wet on the lips if you over apply and you have to apply frequently; I prefer the shimmer shade Natasha Denona mini biba- love the formula of the mattes, don’t like the shimmers; pans begin to fall out of the palette and break Ilia lengthening mascara- Burns eyes if I cry, you have to wait for the mascara to dry out a little before it really starts working well but when it dries it begins to flake and clump; kind of a bell curve Margiela replica trial set- bought as a cute date idea to smell with my partner; loved beach walk back in 2015; now these don’t seem as unique or nice to me The ordinary glycolic toning solution- I use this several times a week to fade dark spots and reduce clogged pores and it seems to reduce my breakouts Shani Darden retinol reform- love and will buy full size when this runs out Peace out acne dots- got these to heal some white heads and it prevented scabs from forming and minimized scarring but will likely not repurchase (they only work when there is an “opening” on the pimple) Innesfee charcoal mask- I think this is the smallest size and I can see this lasting several months, will likely repurchase when it’s done Sunday Riley autocorrect- does not create milia and is light enough on my eyes that I don’t get tears/irritation; unsure if I will repurchase or find a replacement Laneige balm- hard psss; feels thick on lips and dries them out Fenty powder- packaging is a miss and this is a mess every time I open it; replacing Becca highlighter (discontinued)- enjoyed while it lasted but showcased texture Natasha denona mini Zendo- same review as biba except I liked the green tone better on my skin Rare beauty blush in joy- the only reason I ever finished this product is because my AC broke and it separated, will not repurchase (application is too variable) PTR water drench- love this and my partner does too but will probably switch to something else when I finish with SPF Sol de janiero spray- might like this better in the summer; I reach for Chloe nomade or Ariana grande cloud intense instead of this usually Merit beauty lipstick in slip- does nothing for me color wise but I still use it sometimes because it is a nice base for gloss

Sephora Sale (mini) Haul and reasons for purchasing
Switching from the Ilia mascara to the Tower 28 one because the Ilia one burns my eyes if I cry (lol)
Have been using the L’Oreal Trumatch Tinted Serum since July because my AC broke last summer and my Rare Beauty foundation separated and I wanted to just find a cheap replacement in the interim. Now I’m switching to the Dior one because I saw a creator with an olive complexion like mine rave about it! I’ve been on the search forever and was between this one and the Hourglass one but didn’t like my wear test when I went in person for a shade match.
Switching back to using the Kosas concealer; originally got it when it came out in a different color and I don’t think it matched very well in the sense i didn’t find it very brightening in that shade but decided to hold onto it (until my AC broke and it separated). Have been using the NYX bare with me and I don’t always like the finish on it as I try to build coverage (can be drying and settle into fine lines).
Finally, I am throwing out my Fenty powder because I have realized that loose powder is a bit too messy for me when I am in a rush and I especially hate the lid on the packaging. I feel like I always spill when picking up product. But mostly discarding because I am reaching expiration and have come nowhere close to finishing it. Trying out the Charlotte Tilbury!

2024.04.03 03:42 MaulBall What are your favorite skin products?

Im not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i need a little help. I grew up in a strict house and never was allowed to use makeup. Now that I’m older and I’ve distanced myself from my family, I want to try getting into makeup.. (I’m knowledgeable in the skincare area, so don’t need any advice there. It’s just makeup I’m a bit clueless about.)
What are your favorite primers, foundations, setting sprays or powders, concealers, blushes, etc.? Are creme or powder products better? How do I know if a product is silicon/oil/wateetc. based? And which kinds should not be used together?
I bought the ilia super serum because it was recommended to me, but I’m not sure if i like it… it kinda has a weird smell. I do like how sheer and natural it is (since my skin is in good shape, i don’t need too much coverage) and i love that it has an SPF, but it makes me look greasy. (I know it’s supposed to be dewy, but it’s a bit too much.) I didn’t want to toss it so I went back and got a mattifying primer for underneath.. it immediately went patchy looking. So I went back again and got a setting powder but then it made me look cakey. I’m just at a loss.. Is there another foundation that’s better or one that i can mix it with to tone down the shininess and maybe slightly increase the coverage? How can i tell if they’ll be compatible? I don’t want them to separate or turn flaky on my skin if i mix them..
I definitely believe in higher quality products so i don’t mind spending money if they’re worth it. I would just rather not waste money on products that end up not working.
Thank you for any help or advice you might have :)

2024.03.30 20:18 FuntimeLuke0531 One small change could've fixed EVERYTHING

So I'm aspiring writer who's rewriting the final season of AoT on the side of everything else and I come across this video in my remcommended
https://youtu.be/g4hjbPL7EYw?si=ILiaQ9-7Hm5pZrsv
It's great and I recommend it, but something that sticks with me is how much of a fan he is of Aot and it's ending. Obviously I wonder why and by the end of the video it's simple: Eren is like other cautionary characters in that he's enslaved himself to his desire. Isayama has stated in several interviews that Eren represented the worst parts of himself, the ones that felt frustrated and afraid of the evils in the world and all the responsibilities that came with them, a part that wanted the wipe it all away, and the story was how Eren did just that and ended with getting rid of him and these desires.
This information would put the ending in a whole new light, a light I think would've brought the ending back up to A+ tier if it was only a part of the canon, and that's the change I think would've rectified the whole story: instead of the bullshit conversation him and Armin have in paths about Ymir loving king Fritz and the story being about Mikasa the whole time, they don't do that dancing around the issue bullshit, or maybe they do and Armin calls him out on it, ans eventually Eren's simple true motive is revealed: he simply wanted to wipe it all away. He didn't want to be a better person and go through the struggles of dealing with the outside world's evils, even after going on his own and seeing their humanity for themselves, he simply desired to wipe it all away with the powers in hand. Paradi island, the eldian people, his friends, Mikasa, ending conflict, they're all just excuses to help fuel that desire, and after a talk from Armin, seeing hange and floch die, and all the others on the verge of death, Eren finally sees the evils of what he's doing, how it won't solve anything. And most importantly, like said in the video, eren looks at the shell and finally turns around to see the happiness that was in front of him the whole time. It's clearly too little too late in his case however, so Armin and Him come up with the 80% to turn the scouts into global heros schlock as a desperate attempt to slavage what's left of the world. Him and Armin hug it out and Eren swears that even if it's in hell, he won't abandon his friends again.
And that's it. One small change at the 11th hour fixes the story while keeping hobo eren, the worldbuilding, the yeagerists and alliance subplot, the action, the rumbling itself, everything is there, just now with a justifiable reason for happening and still has the tonal nihilism iconic to the AoT franchise without sugarcosting a bit of it. Sure the alliance ain't great and the worldbuilding could be slightly better but I think this change brings the whole story back up to an A-B tier story, S tier if we count the final season separately.
What do you guys think?

2024.03.24 23:35 Artistic-Luna-6000 Does Ilia Malinin telegraph his quads less?

...vs Nathan Chen. This is something I've been wondering about. While Nathan Chen's quads were always textbook and wonderful, they at times felt to me as being separate from the program. I.e. he focuses on the jumps, and then is able to be more artistic with his spins, choreo sequence, and step sequence. With Ilia, it feels that the jumps are more organic to the program; he's almost casual about them. In that respect, Ilia seems to me to be somewhere in between Yuzuru Hanyu's complete immersion and Nathan Chen's more clinical approach.
Is my perception correct? Or is there something else that explains Malinin's perceive ease about his quads?
Edited to add: At times, Nathan would look over his shoulder in the direction of travel, as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFdyvaq7hLI&t=223s. Same here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFdyvaq7hLI&t=68s. You usually know that a jump is coming and it takes me out of the program.

2024.03.19 01:23 FeistyCartoonist5826 Foundation/skin tint with tallow

Hey yall, I’m a huge fan of tallow and natural skin care ingredients. I recently invested into the Ilia skin tint and their concealer which are great but from what my experience and what I have learned is the skin tint is water based and the tallow is obviously oil causing them to pill/separate. I was wondering if anyone had any experience this! Have heard great things about the Ogee sticks and they seem to be more oil/wax based to work with the tallow. Thank you in advance!

2024.03.11 00:54 swagtitan101 LET'S PLAY MATCHMAKER: UFC 299

What a card from Miami once again. This place just keeps delivering for the world leader in mixed martial arts. The bantamweight champion fueled an impressive clinical performance with revenge, a staple of the lightweight division reminded us that he's still got it, welterweight has some new stars, and the prelims delivered big time. These are the fights to make after UFC 299.
PRELIMS

THE BIG ONES

RESULT: Curtis Blaydes defeats Jailton Almeida via KO (punches)
Curtis Blaydes: Tom Aspinall (with some important notes)
Curtis Blaydes derails the Jailton Almeida hype train. Blaydes couldn't stop Jailton Almeida from taking him down several times in the first round, but he made him pay for frivolously shooting from way out of range. Tom Aspinall-Curtis Blaydes II is a justifiable matchup, but I don't think it aligns with the UFC's plans 100%. I believe the UFC will book Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic for UFC 303 in June, and given the finicky booking history of this cursed Jones-Miocic matchup, I think the UFC will have Tom Aspinall on standby as the back up for the main event. If either Jones or Miocic pulls out, and the other is unwilling to fight Aspinall, then get Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall to step up for the undisputed heavyweight championship title bout on international fight week. Then you can book Cyril Gane-Sergei Pavlovich for UFC Paris in the meantime. In other words, Curtis Blaydes should be on standby for a possible fight with Tom Aspinall this summer. If Jones and Miocic fight, and both men retire (which is highly likely), then have Aspinall promoted to undisputed champion, and book Aspinall-Blaydes II for the main event of UFC 304 in Manchester (July).

RESULT: Petr Yan defeats Song Yadong via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
Petr Yan: Cory Sandhagen II or Winner of Figeuiredo-Garbrandt
FINALLY. Petr Yan is back in the column after nearly two years of losing. He had everybody worried after that first round, but he adjusted and took the last two rounds to secure his first victory since October 2021. Petr Yan is still not 100% who he once was, but now that he has a victory under his belt, maybe his mojo will kick back in and we see some vintage performances. Now it's time to look at Yan's next opponent. This was a tricky one for me, but I think I have my plan A. Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov shouldn't fight each other, even though the Sandman is openly willing to face the boogeyman. I have another opponent in mind for Umar. Petr Yan-Cory Sandhagen II should get booked. These guys last fought in October 2021. It was the aforementioned last victory that Yan had before his skid. They fought for the interim bantamweight championship, and it was a glorious battle between two of the most intelligent fighters at 135. Sandhagen is 3-0 since he last faced Yan, and he's showcased more wrestling in that time. Not to mention, Sandhagen didn't have a full camp against Yan the last time they met. This rematch makes perfect sense, book it for a fight night main event or a PPV three rounder. As for Option B, we do Yan against the winner of Figueiredo-Garbrandt, which is going down at UFC 300. Either matchup will be former champ vs former champ. Figueriedo provides a grappling challenge for Yan, while Yan-Garbrandt would have a hilarious build up for a than entertaining matchup. It's great to have you back, Petr Yan.

RESULT: Jack Della Maddalena defeats Gilbert Burns via KO (punches and elbows)
Jack Della Maddalena: Shavkat Rakhmonov or Ian Garry
JDM snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with an exhilarating finish of former title challenger Gilbert Burns. While his scrambles and rolls on the ground have gotten better, he still could use some improvement on TDD. Durinho scored 7 takedowns on 11 attempts. The work that JDM has put in with Craig Jones is showing vast improvements from his last grappling test with Bassil Hafez, so I am confident that Maddalena will continue to improve his ground game in a wrestler heavy division. With Leon Edwards-Belal Muhammad II likely being the next title bout for 170, Shavkat-JDM should be the next title eliminator. This is a BADASS fight. One man is 18-0 and has finished everyone he has seen, and the other is on a 17 fight win streak and is an excellent boxer. It could headline a fight night card in Perth, potentially be the main or co-main event of the Saudi Arabia card in June, or make any summer PPV all the more appealing. If the Rakhmonov booking doesn't happen, then let's do something that's still loads of fun. Della Maddalena-Machado Garry is stylistically beautiful. Love him or hate him, Ian Garry is one of the best strikers we have at welterweight. We've seen JDM take on rangy fighters in Kevin Holland and Randy Brown, but Garry's technical skills are leagues above those two. JDM-Garry is an elite level matchup between two rising welterweight contenders. It could also headline UFC Perth or perhaps UFC Dublin if the promotion decides to go there. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE.

RESULT: Michael Venom Page defeats Kevin Holland via unanimous decision
Michael Venom Page: Stephen Thompson
It's taken years, but damnit, MVP is now a UFC fighter, and he fought exactly the same way fought for all of those years in Bellator. Constant jump roping, and constant emoting, MVP's stint in the UFC may not be very long due to his age (turning 37 in April), but this is going to be super fun. There is only one fight to book for MVP, and it's one that everybody is thinking of. Wonderboy-Venom Page needs to happen this June or July. This couldn't be more perfectly timed. These two long lost dance partners haven't had a style matchup mirroring each other since their days in kickboxing, and now the planets have aligned to make it happen. Karate vs Karate. Wonderboy vs MVP. Good Guy vs Bad Guy. What a time to be UFC fan, and what a time to be a welterweight contender.

RESULT: Dustin Poirier defeats Benoit Saint Denis via KO (punches)
Dustin Poirier: Winner of Gaethje-Holloway
Dustin Poirier still hasn't lost consecutive fights in his UFC career. Even a head-kick KO loss couldn't deter the Diamond from losing his steam and falling to Saint Denis. I don't believe the UFC should book Poirier for the next title challenger for Islam Makhachev, that is what Charles Oliveira-Arman Tsarukyan was literally booked for.
I think that a trilogy matchup with either Gaethje or Holloway is awesome. Justin and Dustin are 1-1, so the trilogy matchup makes sense. Fun fact, Justin Gaethje has Mexican ancestry on his mother's side. If he beats Holloway, you could make Gaethje-Poirier III for the co-main event of UFC Noche at the Sphere. Imagine seeing highlights of these two on that fucking gargantuan screen. If Max Holloway can upset The Highlight, then a matchup between Poirier and Holloway is also a good one despite Holloway trailing 0-2.
Max wasn't even drinking age when fought Dustin the first time, and he wasn't really a natural lightweight in the second fight in 2019. If his body adjusts properly to 155 this time, then Poirier-Holloway III could show us something different in Max's corner. Dustin Poirier may be 35 years old, but he is here to stay.

RESULT: Sean O'Malley defeats Marlon Vera via unanimous decision (50-45 x2, 50-44)
Sean O'Malley: Ilia Topuria (the money making thing to do) or Merab Dvalishvili (the right thing to do)
Suga Sean exacts his revenge on his former nemesis Marlon "Chito" Vera, with a 25 minute masterclass, where O'Malley dealt the most damage that we've seen anyone deal to Marlon Vera in his whole career. It's crazy to think that one perennial nerve kick separates O'Malley from an unbeaten record. Sean completes his first title defense, and with 2-3 more victories as the champion, his name will start being thrown into divisional GOAT conversations. However, his next bout may not even be in this division.
A matchup between Ilia Topuria and Sean O'Malley is more appealing now than it ever was. Topuria-O'Malley is the kind of fight we need. We don't need Volkanovski to fight six months after his KO loss, we don't need Ortega getting a title shot on a one fight win streak, we don't need Movsar Evolve headlining a Bernabeu PPV card, and if Max Holloway beats Justin Gaethje, he might just stay at 155. Ilia Topuria-Sean O'Malley is a dream match up for the promotion. I talked about this on my last post, and it just the most appealing style clash right now. You could say O'Malley hasn't earned a double champ fight with just one title defense in his own division, but O'Malley is the best option to stand across from Ilia Topuria in a stadium card. Both men are experiencing all-time highs in popularity, and their matchup will bring tons of attention to what would already be an insane card from Bernabeu.
Now if O'Malley doesn't get his super fight, then he will have his hands full with cardio monster Merab Dvalishvili. We could see this go down on the Bernabeu card in the co-main event, or IFW on June 29th. This will be one of Sean O'Malley's toughest fights over the next 18 months. With Colby Covington noticeably fading, Merab Dvalishvili has now emerged as the UFC's cardio king. It is seriously unreal what he does to his opponents. Sean O'Malley will need a finish to beat him, but lucky for Suga, Merab has shown he can be hurt in his fights. He was hurt bad by Marlon Moraes, and Henry Cejudo stunned the Georgian early in their contest. O'Malley-Merab would make an excellent co-main event for Jones-Miocic on the IFW card in June, and it will be interesting to see if Sean can finish his new rival.

Thank you all so much for reading this post. That was a super satisfying card to watch, and I personally cannot wait to see what the future has for all of 299's participants. I will see y'all next month for the big one: UFC 300. Take care.
