Honestly, there was nothing creepy about the house I grew up in. No dusty attic or dark basement that any reasonable child would be afraid of.

But it wasn’t long before that uneasiness grew into fear. And in turn, that fear plagued my sight.

There were feet. They were unmistakable. Two little lumps of flesh and fat, under the hypnotic swaying of the curtains, were pointed directly at me. I blinked and rubbed my eyes. Their haunting billowing, the unnatural ebb and flow of the cotton sheets, begged me to come closer. I couldn’t stop. At some point, I think I didn’t want to stop even if I could.
The curtains were right in front of me, and that disgusting yellowish colour of maggots was all I could see. The fabric crawled on my face.
Then, I was drowning. I didn’t know how I ended up stuck in the curtains, but I was. They wrapped themselves around me and every push in an attempt to free myself only seemed to drag me deeper into their prickly grasp. My heart pounded. The air melted into a humid sludge and so each breath I drew grew shallower and shallower. My head spun. And it was then when I realised, there was no exit. There was no escape. Only the rotting yellow of the curtains and the cold white light that it soaked in existed.
As my consciousness started to fade, I remember thinking one thing very clearly:
I was going to become the pair of feet under the curtains.
I awoke a few hours later on my parent’s bed. As soon as I saw my mom standing over me, I bawled my eyes out and babbled incoherently about what I had experienced. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t believe me. She just told me that I had fainted in my room due to exhaustion and left it as that. But I didn’t mind. Her warm smile was soothing and I was away from the curtains. That was all that mattered then.
Despite what she said, my parents asked me to move back into my sister's room the next day. The suddenness of the situation was odd but I obviously welcomed it. Then they locked up my old room with all my stuff inside. As much as I wanted them back, it meant being near those awful curtains once more. So I left them there. And just like that, the room and its curtains were never brought up again.
I eventually moved out of my childhood home into my own studio apartment in the middle of a bustling city. My parents still live in that house. Well… lived. They recently passed away in a freak accident while traveling to visit me. My sister, as the new heir of the house, decided to put it up for sale since it was far too big for her family. I recently bought the Eureka Atom W65 grinder and I'm having a major issue with messiness. The portafilter fork doesn't allow for clean grinding—I can't grind 18 grams of coffee without making a huge mess in my kitchen.

I'm a bit confused now, let me explain my story:
A year ago, I graduated from college and got my first laptop. Then I tried ChatGPT, started using other projects from GitHub, and began exploring AI, although I honestly don't know much about coding; I've been completely relying on ChatGPT. Later, I got access to a GPT-4-like model through someone who set up an API and created a Discord server for it. I joined the server, got the key, and started trying to make a simple website entirely with ChatGPT's help, despite having no tech background.
My friend, who's a BTech student from NIT XXX with experience in Android development and a bit of Python, also found these AI models fascinating. We discussed how many API endpoints are available for this, and he suggested why not make an Android app and publish it on the Play Store, offering access to this AI chatbot for free. So, he developed the app while I handled the simpler mobile design and managed the app promotion and source balancing for the service. Surprisingly, the app quickly gained traction and amassed over 10,000 downloads, turning into a profitable venture until our Google Play Console developer account encountered issues.
Now, a few weeks ago, our Google Play Console developer account got banned due to multiple service violations. We launched an app named "Gemini AI" based on gemini model, which unfortunately Google identified as a violation, leading to the termination of our account. Despite my best efforts, it looks like the account is not coming back. We decided to start a new with an account under my name; I’ve applied for my PAN and once I receive it, I'm planning to create a new developer account and relaunch the apps.
I recently started CS50 to learn Python, and I'm committed to completing it, but I'm unsure if I'll be capable of coding professionally or if I can even land a job after learning. My friend, on the other hand, secured a job through his college placements and will probably start working in a month or two.
Meanwhile, my parents are advising me to prepare for a government job like the IAS, and I plan to move to Delhi (City) next month to begin preparations. However, I'm torn between dedicating my efforts to coding, which I find initially fun (although I realize it gets tough), and studying for the IAS, which is a minimum year-long commitment to fully understand and have a chance at succeeding.
I'm also aware that studying for the IAS can become monotonous, but passing the exam could secure a prestigious and stable career. Yet the uncertainty and competition are incredibly high. Coding seems enjoyable at the start as the basics are straightforward, but the complexity grows with time, demanding substantial effort.
I have a BA degree because I was unsure what to pursue after 12th grade, which limits my job prospects in tech. Now, I'm at a crossroads: should I dive deep into preparing for the IAS in Delhi, where I could potentially meet new people and develop a focused study strategy, or should I commit to learning coding? Given that I'm still mastering the basics for both paths, it feels like I can only dedicate myself to one.
Any advice or insights from your experiences would be greatly appreciated. What should I do?
