I recently found an old blackberry curve 9330 and I was wondering what all I could do with it. I know I can’t do much due to BB shutting down, but is there anything at all that can be done with this thing? Any help is appreciated.

2024.05.13 16:49 5akeris Excel Desktop Slow to Open Files Sync'd via OneDrive

What does "slowly" mean: takes about 10 seconds to open an excel file (used to use an onpremise file server that apparently took 2-3s to open a file) How users access the sharepoint files
  1. most sharepoint sites are sync'd via the OneDrive app (meaning they show up under the tenant name in file explorer - with the work icon)
  2. it also happens if you're using OneDrive online, and attempt to open a file in local app
Other Notes
Troubleshooting attempted:
  1. If you copy the file from the sync'd sharepoint site to c:\temp for example, it opens in 2-3s
  2. If you copy the file from the sync'd sharepoint site to your documents (which are backed up/sync'd by OneDrive as well) it takes ~10s
  3. If you quit onedrive (the file still resides on the PC due to it being stored on device), it opens in 2-3s. Once you start OneDrive again, it's back to ~10s
  4. If we "create a shortcut" to that sharepoint site (so it shows up as a link in OneDrive section of File Explorer instead of under the work/business side, it still takes ~10s to open
  5. if you open a PDF from the sync'd sharepoint site (not the shortcut, the business/work sync'd site), it opens in 2-3s (so this seems to be an issue for office apps only)
  6. If you open Excel (the primary file the users are worried about) in Safe Mode and navigate to the folder structure to find the file (this is a royal pain, I'd use it for troubleshooting, but not for production/day to day use), it opens in 5-7s (so better, but not as quick as it should) - this effectively also sidesteps a "disabling addins" step
  7. Multiple different PC's (spec'd as high as Core i5-1345u, 32gb ram, 2tb nvme ssd, windows 11), some fresh install of windows with no other software aside from default windows apps & office
  8. different internet connections (valley fiber [local isp], bellmts [local isp], tethered to rogers cell phone) with different routers & different security settings on said routers (home vs office vs cell phone)
  9. different internet connection types (ie. while in the office both on wired and wireless, at home on wired and wireless)

2024.05.13 03:17 Agitated-Inspector-4 Apartment Cat missing for a month, is there any hope?

My Cat has been missing for 4 weeks as of today. For background my girlfriend and our cats live on the 5th floor of an apartment which basically makes it impossible for her to come home on her own, has anyone ever got their cat back in a similar situation, could use some kind of hope, below is what we’ve tried:
How we lost her:
We had bought both our cat harnesses and decided to take them for a walk when the one missing cat got spooked and slipped out of the harness, the cat ran up a tree and got to close to the end of the branch when I went climbed up to get her, the branch snapped and she fell maybe 8 feet and ran off into some blackberries. The “forest” is a smallish nature conservation area surrounded by apartments, so it’s very over grown and no one really goes in there at all so it makes for great hiding places and is very difficult for us to get through. There doesn’t seem to be anything dangerous to her in there, I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking and there just seems to be a ton of bunnies, and mice. Never even seen a raccoon or a coyote or anything like that. The forest is right beside our apartment.
What we’ve done to try and get her back:
After we initially lost her we called her for hours, with no luck. So we went down to Home Depot and bought some humane cat traps and set them out with her food and litter inside, that night and the next couple we called her for hours again no luck, no luck with the traps either. We put up posters all over the neighbourhood and social media, no luck. Eventually we got recommended to try a Proffesional pet finding business that extremely good reviews. The pet searcher brought a blood hound and a thermal drone. Unfortunately we were too close to the airport to use the thermal drone. But when he searched the area and surrounding complex’s with the blood hound he got a strong sent next to our building (she’d only been out once and when we were walking her she’d never been to that area so it seemed optimistic!) we set up traps where the sent was strongest and he gave us some tips this included: covering the trap with a towel to make it more like a cave, scenting the area with chicken broth, leaving a bit of food just outside the trap, and covering the metal bottom of the trap with a tea towel. He as well had wireless cameras connected to the cell network with a motion detector so if anything came by he would see it. After about a week and a half no luck we tried moving the trap around to different sections of the black berries, which is where the scent seemed to come from (side of the building is by thick blackberries, we always see bunnies ripping on and out of there). After a week and a half of no sightings we called him back and his dog this time did not smell her on the side of the building but as he made his way into the creek forest area the dog did air scent the smell. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get a very exact location because the area is just so over grown. We’ve continued moving the traps but still had no luck, at night I walk around the forest with a bright flash light hoping to catch her eyes. No luck. Thinking about calling him back and asking him if he could try and get the dog in further to give us a better more precise location. It just seems like she’s not interested in the food or traps at all, the way we’ve been moving it around it’s hard for me to think she hasn’t smelt it. One other thing, mice started to come by and eat the food so we did need up putting the food in a tipper ware container where I’ve drilled out the holes so the smell gets out but the food can’t get eaten as eventually it seemed like the mice started getting to the food about an hour after we’d set the traps.
A bit about her:
She was a stray cat we found at my parents house at about 3 - 4 weeks old. She’s loved with my girlfriend ever since from about 6 months to 2.5 years old she was an indoor / outdoor cat and always came back. She would occasionally catch birds and bring them to my girlfriend, so she was a bit of a hunter. She was always a bit skittish but loves people but is scared of them if that make sense. For the last year and a bit she’s been an indoor only cat as my girlfriend and I moved into an apartment. Part of me feels like she’s gone back to her roots of being a bit of a feral cat and she’s found a safe spot in the forest and won’t come out.
TL/DR: lost my cat for a month and we live on the 5th floor of an apartment, nothing is working, is there a chance she could come back, getting very tough on me and my girlfriend.

2024.05.10 08:40 IrishDigi Tethering R5 to C1 via Teradek

Hi guys. I am working on a shoot next week which requires a R5 to be mounted to a crane high in the air. The photographer wants to take tests and adjust focus manually through C1, probably a bit of live view action also.
I have a 20m tether cable which isn’t a problem which I can use as a plan b but would love to have a wireless system in place.
Would anyone know what the best process is to set up a Teradek so I can use the camera in C1?
Any help would be hugely appreciated as never worked with them before when sending files directly from camera.
Thanks. Kevin.

2024.05.09 22:39 fiachaire27 tp-link usb wifi not detecting 5g hotspot

I have both the T3U [TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter in my device manager] and the T2UB nano [Realtek 8821CU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC in my device manager].
I have a mobile phone that will usb tether and works as a hotspot while configured to 2.4ghz. However my pc won't detect it in 5ghz, though all my other devices do.
If anyone can help me figure this out I'd be very grateful. I've tried different slots and updating the driver, switching the IEEE settings in device manager and a few other things but I am out of my depth.
EDIT: I downloaded updated drivers. The device manager names match now, with one being called TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter #2 My hotspot showed with a couldn't connect message and then disappeared. At present, no networks found and I would expect to see some of my neighbours devices.

2024.05.09 12:50 Beneficial-Stage-993 Tether iPhones to Linux

Just for the record.
Reccently i found that i can tether my iphone's network to my ubuntu instead of using wireless hotspot.
Here is how.
  1. Make sure your ubuntu have `libimobiledevice6`, `usbmuxd` installed. (On ubuntu 24.04, those packs have been installed by default.)
  2. connect your iphone to ubuntu with usb cable.
  3. Make sure `usbmuxd` service is running. `systemctl status usbmuxd.service`
  4. Your iphone should prompt with message asking you trust new device. (do this first)
  5. Your ubuntu should prompt with message asking you trust a untrust device. (click try again)
  6. Go iphone Settings > Personal Hotspot , enable Allow Others to Join.
  7. Now you should see a new Ethernet connect is alive on ubuntu.
That's all. If any problems, just try restart the `usbmuxd` service with `sudo systemctl restart usbmuxd`

2024.05.09 00:49 bullsnike Opinion on Airpods Pro 2 (more related to things other than music quality)

So a little background for those that have experience here.
I currently have a pair of soundcore liberty pro 3's that I used to use for wireless on the go stuff, and I have an ifi go blu paired with my Moondrop Blessing 3's and Salnotes Zero 2 that I use for "wireless" listening currently when I don't want to be tethered.
My situation is I'm looking at the airpods pro 2 more for the mic quality as they would be used for taking work calls (tech support customer service field) without the need to use my phone as I can run the call routing through my macbook or pc. Due to some health issues, I'm working more from my macbook at the moment but having to juggle a phone vs using a wireless solution isn't ideal for when I can't be at my main pc during the day.
I'm considering using my soundcore liberty 3's for general stuff when I have to work from my macbook and was wondering would there be a huge difference in the mic quality vs the airpods in a situation where I might be outdoors with a bit of background noise and wind. I also do listen to music and watch some videos during downtime, so I feel that the liberty 3's probably beat the airpods for quality on my end, but it's more of a concern of when I'm talking to customers, would the airpod pro 2's provide a better experience to them in your opinion vs the liberty 3?
Also is there a noticeable difference in music quality (apple music over bluetooth) or would it be more of a sidegrade there? This of course for the purposes of what I'm looking to do is secondary as when I'm not on call, I would obviously be using my higher end iems.
Appreciate the help in advance!

2024.05.08 14:35 White_Ring Best VR Headsets To Buy

Hi all, I was scrolling some subreddits like VRGaming and virtualreality, A lot of people there were struggling to find the best VR headset. So, I decided to create a list of best VRs. I did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews and discussions by users and experts too. After reading all that for days this is the list I've come up with:
  1. Meta Quest 3 (best overall)
  2. Valve Index (best for steam)
  3. Meta Quest 2 (best budget)
  4. PlayStation VR 2 (best for ps5)

Meta Quest 3

The best VR right now is Meta Quest 3. It has new lenses, a more compact design, higher resolution panels, and more processing power.
This headset uses slimmer pancake lenses, instead of the chunkier Fresnel ones, which help slim down the whole unit. It doesn't stick out from your face as much, so it's comfier to wear, though the included fabric strap is still poor and we recommend that you replace it for something better.

Valve Index

Valve's headset isn't as cutting-edge as it was when it debuted in 2020, but its Steam VR and Vive hardware compatibility, excellent audio and fancy controllers still make it hardware worth considering. Valve's "knuckle" controllers are pressure-sensitive and can track all five fingers, making them almost like gloves. Not all apps make the most of them, but Valve's hardware is mix-and-match compatible with the HTC Vive, which also is built on the Steam VR platform. The Index headset has excellent audio, but its display resolution is no longer as good as competitors'.

Meta Quest 2

If you're after the best budget VR headset, then look no further than the Meta Quest 2. While it has been surpassed by the newer Quest 3 in terms of comfort and quality of life, you really can't beat this for the money. Not only is it a great way to try out VR for the first time, the Quest 2 offers a super virtual reality experience full stop.
Part of this is down to the 1832 x 1920 resolution LCD panels, which are exceptionally good for a budget headset, though you do need to spend time adjusting the Quest 2 so that your eyes line up with the dead center of the Fresnel lenses. These are a little on the chunky side, so the headset isn't as svelte as the Quest 3.

PlayStation VR 2

The PSVR 2 is expensive ($550), and needs a PlayStation 5 to even work. It's tethered, not wireless. Its HDR OLED display, graphics quality, built-in eye tracking and fantastic advanced controllers -- which have the same vibrations and adaptive force-feedback triggers as the PS5 DualSense controllers -- give this headset a premium feel that makes its best games perform at a different level. It could be a landing spot for top PC VR games, but right now it already has some exclusives like Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil Village and Horizon: Call of the Mountain.

2024.05.08 08:43 DrSpockUSS Ethernet backhaul not working anymore?

I have tplink c86 as main router in my house and i used one c80, 3 c6 routers to extend the range all over my house, all hardwired with cat 6 cable, connected by easy mesh, same id and same password. Yesterday i added another lan connection to one of my router for a homekit device and since then one of my c6 has disconnected itself from ethernet backhaul. Its wirelessly connecting to my main router and thus less speeds now.
As of now i can still see 4 devices in my easymesh tab on tether app but only 3 show ethernet icon, remaining one shows wireless icon now, earlier it used to show Ethernet icon as well. All routers have updated firmware, anyway to correct it?

2024.05.06 19:25 WrestlePig Looking to learn about workflows from Photojournalists

I am a pretty decently experienced photographer who’s been shooting professionally for around 10 years. Most of my past experience however has come in the form of studio fashion shoots tethered to a computer, or jobs where there a time after the shoot to cull and edit properly. I am used to having multiple rounds of back and forth with clients over selects.
Recently I have found myself shooting more photojournalism work and finding it very freeing compared to I am used to. My only issue is trying to adapt to a faster workflow which priorities speed of delivery rather than getting a perfect file.
I want to hear from other people shooting in the field where time is important (Olympics, Sports, Film festivals etc) about the best way to get my images on the wire. I have some experience with Photo Mechanic, but I am more used to using Capture One and taking my time.
From my research so far it seems like I’m going to be best served by “protecting” files in camera, only uploading those and doing a quick cull in PM before uploading to the wire.
What are some of the best ways to do this, are their good wireless options these days, or am I best shooting to card , hot swapping and uploading in the field with a personal wifi box? I’m currently running a D3 and a Z8 as my wide and tight bodies.
Thanks in advance for any help!

2024.05.06 12:14 Ok-Ninja671 Tailscale and VPN extremely slow

First time user, I just purchased the MT3000 and took it on my first business trip. The hotel I’m staying at has WiFi capped at around 20mbps.
I’m using the MT3000 as a wireless repeater. It looks to be working but the speeds are abysmal when I turn on my wireguard vpn service or Tailscale. 1mb down / 1mb up speeds. For Tailscale, my exit node is on a 1 gig up & down fiber connection at home.
When I tether my Android phone using the same VPN service & Tailscale, the speeds are fine.
Any tips or other things I should try?
Thanks!

2024.05.04 02:17 turnerpike20 My sister got rid of internet after I started talking about the IU Pro-Palestine protestors who were arrested and the ACLU getting involved in their case.

My sister got rid of internet after I started talking about the IU Pro-Palestine protestors who were arrested and the ACLU getting involved in their case.
I was put into a psychiatric hospital for my religious beliefs and my beliefs of Palestine. I even suggested going to a pro-Palestine protest march or at least standing outside the courthouses in support of the IU students. I tried explaining to them in Islam when you see an injustice you don't stay quiet and that's it's important to speak out. Simply asking to be able to speak openly not online. This was just after going to the mosque as well. I can't talk to my family about anything that's a current issue. I have trouble trying to get them to accept Islam cause she doesn't know what good Islam does for women. And I tell her divorce rights and so on. Honestly it might get to a point they won't allow me to go to the mosque. And they love my mom even if she's not Muslim and unlikely to be Muslim she respects how Islam has the prophets that the Christians have. I love my religion I don't want her to feel I'm forcing anything on her but she doesn't want to talk about Palestine either. But imagine if I stopped going to the mosque because she's realizing they are justifying my support of Palestine or she thinks I'm not mentally well cause I'm Muslim. I don't want her to deny me my right to religion like police did to me. Technically I would say they did in this way as well cause I had no Quran. I had no idea where the Kaaba actually was because they didn't know. And I had no technology so no Islamic videos or anything to help me reflect on things. I just had to go on memory which was sad cause at the time I was still struggling to memorize surah Al Fatiha.

2024.05.02 15:08 Borbit85 How to fix my iMac?

I got a mid 2011 iMac about half a year ago. Good deal for nice screen and pretty capable computer still. The RAM is maxed out at 32GB and the HDD replaced with a SSD by the guy I bought it from.
The OS was updated to the latest version it supports. This did not support a lot of application anymore and I'm not a mac guy. So I tried to get it to dual boot KDE Neon. I managed to install KDE Neon but somehow damaged the osX part. I got some error during boot but not a problem really.
A while later I was messing around with the Linux install and also broke KDE somehow. (I am not very good at computing). Somehow fixed it by installing Xfce from the terminal but that is kinda broken as well (can start some programs but not the terminal and such).
For now I mainly want to enter the boot menu. And reinstall the thing. Dual boot would be nice. But just KDE Neon would work. Triple boot osX/Windows/Linux would be perfect. Just osX and working in a VM would also be a less desirable option
This is my first mac so I'm used to just pressing some F button on a normal PC and set it to boot from USB and than simply install any OS. This does not seem to work here.
I tried alt and windows key + R on a wireless logitech keyboard (with a dongle so it should function the same as a wired one I figure). But it doesn't seem to do anything. The apple wireless keyboard that came with it doesn't seem to work until an OS is loaded.

How do I get this iMac back to it's original state?
My setup is a iMac mid 2011, 32GB, 500GB SSD. Wireless apple keyboard. Magic mouse, magic touchpad. Second monitor connected over DVI with a little DVI/VGA/HDMI adapter (only using the DVI port). Logitech K400+ keyboard/touchpad. Some old Sony stereo over the 3.5 port for audio. Internet via WiFi from my Android phone (no acces to cable, and it's unlimited and fast enough for my normal tasks (usually around 200 Mbps down 50 Mbps up) (USB tethering woud be an option).

2024.05.02 14:19 Borbit85 How to reinstall my older iMac?
