2024.06.10 01:28 flwwhtrbt Pirate News (lighter edition)
Sorry, not reaaaally much happening these last few weeks! Unsure whether 'no news is good news' applies here? Regardless, here's a few dot-points for your (mild) amusement.
DenuvoNews?
- Sonic X Shadow Generations will sadly contain Denuvo. Sega tends to adore Denuvo, so it's no shock, but still a sad confirmation. The good news is that we'll have the Switch version which will have no DRM. Because it's an old game, you may also be able to emulate with upscaled textures via a pack? Not super sure, just thinking aloud. Damned Denuvo. Sorry to share the sad news, u/chaosgemerald.
- Black Myth: Wukong has also been confirmed to contain Denuvo.
- Life is Strange: Double Exposure rounds out the top 3 annoying Denuvo announcements. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news all the time with these, I just thought it good to keep on top of these things.
Games?
FitGirl's top 10 repacks of this week:
- The Genesis Order
- Ghost of Tsushima
- GTA V
- Violet
- Night of the Dead
- RDR2
- TLoU Pt 1
- COD MW:3
- Succubus
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash
The sub here?
Random? This site is a good resource, showing the list of DRM-free games on Steam. Just for interest's sake. As of posting this, it is 1,226 games of 41,186 which have no DRM.
If anyone's spotted anything of interest, really, share it here! <3

2024.06.10 00:41 tlmma I own a record label and offered to trade fans rare vinyl, merch, etc. in exchange for games.. this was the result
| i included the instagram screenshot to prove it’s my post/items. over the years my record label counter intuitive records has done a few things like this where fans could trade stuff (dvds, blu rays, now video games) for vinyl or clothing from bands they like. i put out the call a month ago that i wanted to rebuild my video game collection which i had sold off around 2011 to fund going to more concerts and buying band merch. now its come full circle as i am almost 10 years into running a company in the music business and now i can trade music for games. i was so grateful so many fans were down to part with stuff they didn’t want anymore, i specified i didn’t want any trades if it was something important to them. and for the real valuable stuff we made sure the deal was fair with me providing a ton of stuff in return, some equally as valuable (we have some rare records that sell for $300+). anyways, i thought the community here might enjoy this legendary haul. i’ve had a ton of fun watching everyone else share the stuff they have gotten also. the only thing i didn’t trade for was the pokemon silver CIB but i needed to show that off. submitted by tlmma to gamecollecting [link] [comments] |
2024.06.10 00:26 kaboomglc [US-OR][H] Nintendo Switch games. PS5 Games. Xbox controllers [W] Paypal
First time selling here. Family life causing me to sell my collection. I'll take pictures of specific games as requested, which I'll have my reddit name and date attached to on a sticky note. Shipping is negotiable depending on how large a purchase is, but will be $5 for single game purchases, with the exception of Ring Fit and Tetris Connected Collectors edition as they are larger. My intention is to use USPS Ground Advantage for shipments unless another service is requested and paid for. PayPal Goods and Services is fine. I don't use Venmo or Cashapp so it pretty much has to be PayPal or maybe Zelle. I've read the rules, so hopefully I am doing this correctly!

2024.06.10 00:16 Roamalot I really don't like how fast Sonic goes in his newer 3D titles.
I'm gonna preface this by saying I heavily dislike Sonic Frontiers and pretty much every 3D title that came out AFTER Sonic Generations, and that Sonic Unleashed is my all time favorite Sonic Game ever made.
Probably because I'm easily drawn in by nostalgia, but man, it feels like the movement has just been slowed down to a crawl with every new game that comes out. To me, Unleashed and Generations perfected this with the sheer speed blur momentum that you can gain and its just completely lost on me in games like Frontiers.
They've fixed some of the issues I had with Frontiers, like the fact that once you jumped, your boosting STOPPED, but its not enough for me. Also the stages that they've been dropping have been terrible to me they just look so mindless now.
I just watched that Shadow x Generations trailer and his animations looked super sick but theres just.. something missing.
I'm probably the only one feeling this way and thats okay I just needed to say it.

You're probably aware that
athletes, particularly NBA players, make a lot of money, but do you know who the world's NBA's Richest players are?
If your answer is no, you've arrived at the right place. We see these folks on holidays and on social media showcasing their newest
cars or
mansions.
As a result, it's
natural for us to wonder how much money they make and how wealthy they are. NBA players have long had one of the most lucrative contracts in the
sports entertainment industry.
Furthermore, unlike the NLF, MLB, or NHL, an NBA player's minimum pay is nearly twice that of any other league globally.
Nonetheless, based on what we've seen over the years, most of the richest NBA players do not rely solely on a pay as their primary source of revenue.
Many of the wealthiest players are financial wizards, and others are
surrounded by a team of highly skilled financial consultants.
These groups of financial consultants frequently counsel them on which investments to make and which deals to avoid.
According to what we've observed over the years, Brand deals and sponsorships are essential for a professional player's financial success.
From Michael Jordan to LeBron James to Kevin Durant, these stars make a lot of money off the court. Let's look at the top ten NBA Richest players of all time.
1. Michael Jordan
Net Worth: $2.2 Billion
Michael Jordan is a former basketball player, team owner, product endorser, and entrepreneur from the United States. Furthermore, Michael made $93.7 million in compensation during his NBA
career.
He was the first athlete in history to receive a salary of more than $30 million a year. He, however, earned $30.14 million in basic salary during the 1996-1997 season to reach this feat.
After adjusting for inflation, he made $33.14 million the following season, equivalent to $53.4 million today.
Michael earns $100 million every year from endorsements and other commercial enterprises, although he hasn't played basketball professionally in nearly two decades.
Please remember that this is more money in a single year than he made in 16 NBA seasons. Michael makes at least $60 million a year in royalties from the Nike/Jordan brand.
Michael's ownership stake in the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise helped him become a millionaire. This investment will be discussed in greater depth later in this essay.
Furthermore, Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. He has won the league MVP award five times. On September 112009, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the player with the best career scoring average of all time.

After retiring from professional athletics, he is now one of the wealthiest athletes in history and a role model for success.
East Chicago

2024.06.09 22:14 oscarrzod I completed a Pre-Hooktail Pit run (eh, not technically, but...) on the remake! Here's what I learned
I never attempted a pre-Hooktail run on the original game, but I figured I'd go for it in the remake since I'm fresh off the 100p, and I beat Bonetail (with an asterisk)!
I, unfortunately, had to use the "Try Again" feature twice, so
no, it is not an official run (but I will absolutely be trying again for a legitimate run soon now that I know more about what I need), but it was still super fun, and I wanted to share how it went and where I went wrong.
Okay, my loadout:
- I was Level 3 when I started. I believe it's possible to go in at Level 2, but I did a couple optional battles. I'm sure there were some ramifications on healing that I could've calculated, but I was flying by the seat of my pants a bit. Didn't seem to have a big effect (by the later floors, I was leveling up every 2-3 fights most of the time)
- Decided to upgrade Koops over Goombella. I knew going in it was the worse choice (Goombella does 4 damage output vs. Koops 3 + Multibonk with Mega Rush P is nasty), but my rationalization was that I valued Powershell to take out multiple enemies while in Peril more, and I genuinely did not think I would have a chance against Bonetail without Shell Shield (this will become ironic later)
- From Dazzle, I chose to get Item Hog, Flower Finder and Pretty Lucky. I liked this a lot--Power Plus or Power Plus P would have been nice, yeah, but Item Hog was so critical. I would've had multiple more deaths without some really nice healing drops (including a Shooting Star that saved my butt in the 90s Floors). I think Quick Change is viable and would be interested to try it, but the BP allotment is heavy, and I would've dearly missed Flower Finder or Item Hog.
- Got all badges possible including the shop as expected (the Petalburg shop has about a million Sleepy Sheep in its inventory now, if you need any :) )
- I brought a handful of healing items, the Hooktail’s Castle Life Shroom, maybe 3 or 4 Fire Flowers, two POW blocks (next time, I'm bringing more of these haha), and the Thunder Rage + Shooting Star + Life Shroom from the shop points. Didn't buy any Fright Masks (couldn't maybe? I think after activating the Zess T. quest I lost the shop slot for them), but I would have if I knew how handy they would be after getting a couple from item drops.
Alright,
the run:
Floors 1-49: Really nothing particularly noteworthy here. I got my feet wet with the low damage output, but there were no serious scares. Lakitus and Shady Koopas were a little annoying, but a little patience and it was no problem. I heavily prioritized BP upgrades here--probably the first five level-ups, and then an FP, and then two or three more BP. I think this strategy was helpful. All Clefts tended to be annoying as well, but the Superguards on them are very simple. Notably, Piercing Blow, Sleep Stomp, Fire Drive and Zap Tap were all used heavily in this run, which was refreshing as I’ve never really used any of these in normal play! But in a run like this, you have to get creative. I skipped multiple Movers here. I just wanted to take on the full challenge.
Floors 51-59: Here was my first death, this one coming from simply poor play. Played it a bit too risky and missed a Superguard on a Dark Boo. So, that’s where the run technically ended, but I wanted to keep going to learn more about what the lower floors have to offer, so I hit “Try Again” and kept plugging along. I used a Fright Mask at least once on this section (I believe it was four Ice Puffs?). Also, this is where I started to learn how annoying it can be to get/keep your partners in Peril. Badge Bandits were a real pain without having one or both partners in Peril, but as I’m sure you all know, they changed how healing works on a level up. In the original game, only the partner that was out in battle during a level up was healed fully. Now, the whole party heals. For casual players, this is great! For runs like this, it is a bit annoying. Ultimately, it just means you have to do a lot more tattling (or Googling, I suppose) for damage outputs and math to get back to Peril. The saving grace is that if you allow a partner to fall in battle, they are revived to 1 HP after the battle. Only issue is if a heart drops in the field and you happen to be standing over top of it, you’re very unhelpfully back to 2 or 3 HP (another very avoidable issue in the original game, as I would imagine you would typically NEVER have your Peril partner in the end of the battle anyway). But outside of that, Fire Drive was the Mario move of choice here.
Floors 61-69: Peril Koops was big time here, but Peril Goombella was also massive for the Dark Lakitus. And shoutout to Piercing Blow for help with the Spiky bois. The Craws have a lot of HP, but it was more patience than anything else, as the Superguard timing is pretty straightforward and they have no defense.
Floors 71-79: Swoopulas, Chain-Chomps, Wizzerds, and Dark Koopatrols. This is where a couple extra POW blocks would have been useful (and later for Dark Bristles). Phantom Embers were largely easy (although, no Fire Drive on them of course, so Koops and Power Smash to the rescue). Sleep Stomp was a key tactic for larger groups on the Swoopulas and Wizzerds, although the success rate on the Wizzerds was low. Used up a Thunder Rage and a couple Fire Flowers here to get out of jail.
Floors 81-89: Spunias and Piranha Plants were nothing exciting, but here was death number two of the run. This one was a math mistake. In an attempt to get Koops into Peril from an Arantula shot, I THOUGHT that any regular guard would get him there, and if I misread the throw and it was actually headed toward Mario, he would survive with a regular guard as well. Well, my math was wrong, I hit the regular guard, the attack hit Mario and good night haha. At this point, of course I continued as the run was already illegitimate anyway. Outside of that, the most strategy I employed was waiting for the Arantulas to go into low position and then (try to) put them to sleep before employing Koops in Peril. No major issues, no major item use.
Floors 91-99: Well, this section was wild in a couple of ways. Floor 91 gave me 5 Elite Wizzerds. These dudes are brutal. I am AWFUL at Superguarding their attacks. I had gotten an extra Shooting Star from an Item Hog drop earlier, and I used two on the first turn to get rid of them. This is what I saved them for anyway! At this point, the Star Points were accumulating so fast that Peril strats were incredibly challenging to get into. I’d let the partners die if the math didn’t work out, but that would only work for one battle at a time, as the next level up came so quickly. I wonder if starting at a higher level would have helped prevent this, but at the expense of some healing. Anyway, I dealt with Poison Puffs almost identically to the Arantulas: wait until they get low and then try to put them to sleep/get them with Peril Goombella. Floor 93 I got bailed out with 4 Bob-ulks. Easy peasy. But, I think we all know the most dangerous enemies to face: Amayzee Dayzees. And oh buddy, on Floor 94, I got the 2 Amayzee Dayzee combo. Yikes. No way to take them out in the first turn (yeah, I wish I had Multibonk right about now). So, I had to take my chances. I tried putting one to sleep, and it did not take. Fate was with the Gods, and lo and behold, they both ran. Phew. Unfortunately, this had a bit of an adverse effect. I got far fewer star points from that battle with fewer enemies, and I did not level up. Then, on Floor 95, I got a Mover. Okay, I had options. I had Goombella in Peril, but not Koops. I also had only 15 FP after all healing items, and about 20 HP. I decided to go straight to Bonetail. I’m not sure if the official rules outlaw Movers, but ya know, I had already died twice, and I wanted to see how hard Bonetail was, so I went in. Looking back, maybe just taking two floors down and doing the last couple battles to increase HP and FP some more with a couple levels + a potential heal would’ve been smarter. Happy Heart and Happy Flower were going to be necessary, but I neglected to take off Item Hog/Flower Finder for Pity Flower which would have been much more useful. Very silly oversight. But, here we go.
Bonetail: I opened with Goombella in front, tattled, then switched into Koops, hoping I could get him into Peril as well and ultimately lay down a Shell Shield. Here’s a problem I easily could have seen ahead of time but didn’t: Bonetail does 8 damage (and piercing) on the breath attack. Koops has 15 HP, so the attack bypasses Last Stand P for him. What I SHOULD have done is use regular guards on two straight attacks with a Shell Shield up for Mario and I would have been in Peril. I instead tried to Superguard and missed, and then I was in trouble. I still could have gotten out of this, and I tried to. I put Koops in front, defended, and hoped I got the stomp attack. But alas, another breath, and then Koops went down. Peril Goombella was a menu click away, but I decided to rock with Mario alone for a bit, and I realized something. When you Sweet Treat with a partner, you can get about 8 or 9 HP per person + FP. But, with Mario alone, I noticed I was getting about 11 HP per Sweet Treat. So, I stayed Mario only instead of bringing Goombella in. The strategy was pretty simple: Fire Drive as much as possible, Sweet Treat, get two moves out (and hit the Stylish to fill back up the Star Power), Superguard a million times, and hope I don’t get bit. I didn’t hit them all, and I got bailed out by a Shine Sprite bingo after missing a breath Superguard that left me asleep. I would’ve surely been in major trouble, but between some Lucky misses, some steadfast Superguarding, and multiple heals from Bonetail, I drove him all the way to 0 without bringing Goombella back out. The math on getting enough FP back/having enough Star Powetaking too much damage was delicate. Basically, I could afford about 8 damage every three turns. I got very fortunate with the small amount of bite attacks (assuming those are still not Superguardable? If they are, I never hit one haha), and was able to stave off the rest of the attacks. However, my crowd continued to dwindle for whatever reason, so that 8 damage every three turns turned into every four turns before I could get enough Star Power to Sweet Treat again. It was an absolute GRIND, and I was insanely nervous by the end, but I managed to do just enough and lay the last Fire Drive in the end.
So, even though I didn’t technically complete an official run, I had a blast with the challenge that I will gladly be attempting again soon. I didn’t save and kept the file before I upgraded my partnetraded the star pieces/whatnot so I can try some other strategies quickly. In any case, it was super fun and refreshing, and I highly recommend that anybody who has played this game to completion to give it a go! It’s hard, but I’m sure it will be truly rewarding when I eventually complete it.

2024.06.09 22:11 StudioAlemni Legends of Astravia -- GBA-style indie game directly influenced by Golden Sun
| Hey Adepts! My name is Jaiden, and I'm a solo game developer working on a JRPG titled Legends of Astravia. I'm super excited to share it with all of you, because it is directly influenced by Golden Sun in several ways, including in its artwork, world, and level design! I just released a ~1 hour demo for Steam Next Fest (which starts tomorrow!) and I would love to get feedback from fellow fans of my favorite RPG to see if the game is true to its inspirations: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1233680/Legends_of_Astravia/ About the Game https://preview.redd.it/c0eib8456l5d1.png?width=616&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b74d3b2ff8cab424c662c58663acbafd8fe1169 Legends of Astravia is a charming retro RPG set in a world of magic. You play as Oliver, a mystician on a quest to meet new companions and unravel his complicated past... and the truth behind a mysterious trio's plan to reawaken the Cataclysm and bring forth another age of ruin. Influenced by 90s and early 2000s-era JRPGs, the game features hybrid time-based battles and an explorable world filled with twisting dungeons and countless secrets. The game is set to (hopefully!) release in Q1 2025, after 7 long years of development. The overarching story is pretty massive for a solo dev, so I'm planning to release it in two parts. But I think everyone here is familiar with that kind of thing... I promise there won't be a cliffhanger nearly as bad as the one between GS & GS:TLA :) Screenshots https://preview.redd.it/4uy72y0i6l5d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=2a7fd261b2929ddb19812543ac201c5f27faa41b https://preview.redd.it/qdkpkkkj6l5d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=93579f457adab418909f1a2045d920cbb9562cac https://preview.redd.it/zb4tjyhn6l5d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c1d0d5a27b2fd750562823aaf3b114dbe7fb557 About Me + How Golden Sun Influenced The Game I'm a little ashamed to admit, but I actually didn't play Golden Sun for the first time until fairly recently (~2020), though I had heard a lot about it when I was younger. I've always been a huge fan of Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda, and when I started working on Legends of Astravia, those games were my initial drive for developing it. I couldn't believe it when someone told me "there's a game that's already like that, it's called Golden Sun" When I played Golden Sun, I immediately fell in love with it. The characters, the story, the level design, the battles, the music. Everything about it was super inspirational. From there, I realized I really wanted to recapture some aspects of that experience in my own work. Legends of Astravia has its own identity--it isn't a fangame by any means. But it does really take a lot of pages from GS's book. Some of the elements that are directly influenced are... - The artwork. Including the overworld pixel art, which is very GBA/SNES, the character portraits which are similar in style, and even the battle sprites and backgrounds.
- The level design. The way you can traverse the overworld should feel very similar to Golden Sun. The demo doesn't quite have all of the same gimmicks as Psynergy on the map *yet*, but the final game most certainly will have more. I love dungeons, caves, and puzzles, so you bet those elements will be a huge aspect of the game. Also, I ♥ jumping over gaps.
- The lore / story. The principle of the Astri and their elemental affinity in LoA being eerily similar to the Elemental Stars and Psynergy was honestly an accident, but ultimately I decided to build on it as I created this magic-based world. The story isn't exactly the same, and the cast is also much older than the beloved teenage heroes of Weyard, but I think it's still easy to see some of the similarities.
The least similar aspect is the battle design, which is completely unique and quite different from Golden Sun's turn-based system. But magic elements and the way they interact is certainly familiar, and will be expanded on further in the final game. Other relevant links (Social Media, Discord, etc.): https://www.astraviagame.com/links I'm looking forward to everyone's feedback and thoughts. I really love Golden Sun, and I'm hoping to make something that other fans of the game will enjoy :) submitted by StudioAlemni to GoldenSun [link] [comments] |

Want to see the best games before this era? Check out these 2 lists which were compiled by Reddit users' nominations and votes over 3 entire years:
The 50 Best Video Games of the Atari Era:
https://www.reddit.com/retrogaming/comments/o4drau/best_video_games_of_the_atari_era_poll_final/ The 100 Best Video Games of the NES/Master System Era:
https://www.reddit.com/retrogaming/comments/140z3gj/best_video_games_of_the_nesmaster_system_era_poll/ What You Can Do:
- Vote in the poll to determine the 51st best SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era game!
- Then AFTER VOTING IN THE POLL: In the comments section, Upvote your favourite SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era games to be nominated and added to next week's poll. NOTE: NOT ONE OF THE SIX GAMES IN THIS WEEK'S POLL!
- If one of your favourites hasn't been mentioned yet, leave a new comment (NOT one of the six games in this week's poll), nominating ONE game per comment (so that it's clear which game is being nominated). Comment directly to the original post to make it easy to see which games have the most upvotes.
What You Can Nominate:
- Any Arcade coin-op game (including Neo Geo) from 1989-1994.
- Any Computer game (any PC system) from 1989-1994.
- Any Home Console game or Handheld Console game from the 4th Generation (regardless of year published unless it is a port): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_generation_of_video_game_consoles
- NO PS1 games, NO N64 games, NO Saturn games. Those systems aren't retro enough for this poll.
- YES Sega CD, YES Genesis 32X, YES TurboGrafx-CD.
- YES Game Boy games, NO Game Boy Color, NO Game Boy Advance, YES Game Gear games.
Exceptions:
In general, the original year published takes precedence. No games that played betteare more iconic/are more remembered in an earlier or later era.
All variations of a game will be under one entry (e.g. only one entry for "Street Fighter II").
No collections of previously released games (i.e. no "Super Mario All-Stars").
"Sonic 3 & Knuckles" will be one combined entry.
"Tetris" made its biggest impact with 35 million copies sold for the Game Boy, so it is now eligible for this poll.
Arcade games that received NES Era home console ports like the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" arcade game, are now eligible.
"Altered Beast" was a Genesis pack-in game, so is now eligible.
Instances like this can be debated. I think it's best to allow all games from a console to be designated to one era, and for games to appear in one era poll only.
Other Nominated Games From Last Round:
Last round 31 people voted in the poll, and 0 new games were nominated in the comments section.
Any of these (or any other eligible games) can be nominated again this round in the comment section to be added to next week's poll. Make your voice heard! It just takes a couple of upvotes to get your game nominated on next week's list.
The Idea:
Comparing, say, Pong and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is not useful. It's like arguing which is better: the Ford Model T or the Space Shuttle? But comparing games of their era is interesting and fun! Usually, best game polls are limited to a single system. This poll is unique because it includes all platforms from the era together. How will the best Arcade, Computer and Sega Genesis games compete with the best that Nintendo had to offer? It will be interesting!
Why Only Arcade and Computer Games from 1989-1994?
The 4th Generation of home consoles launched in the West with the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1989, kicking off the 16-bit Era. The PlayStation and Sega Saturn launched in the West in 1995 which will begin the era for the next series of polls after this concludes.
The Criteria:
I'll leave it up to the individual to decide. Innovation, quality, influence, iconic status, how much fun it was then, how it holds up today, are all valid. Whatever games you love, whatever games you want to see named as the greatest of the era.
What Happens Next:
After the poll closes in a week, the winner of the poll will be named the 51st best video game of the SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era. The new most upvoted of games nominated in the comment section will be added to the 5 “losers”, and be the 6 games in the poll for Week 52, which will name the 52nd best SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era game, and so on. I'd like to continue this to get a Top 100. At that point I would like to continue from the SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era to the PS1/N64/Saturn Era, for a new set of polls.
This will be a poll I hope to hold every week for a long time! Have fun everyone!

2024.06.09 20:11 Unfortunate_Bystand5 About Looker and Doctor Who
I have to say it but I don't think Looker was ever inspired by Doctor Who. I know, I know, it's been this long running fun fact and it's super popular with fans who like both Pokemon and Doctor Who but hear me out.
Looker is not ever referred to as "The Looker" in the games afaik. Looker is just his spy codename like 100KR in SM. It's supposed to mean 'Handsome' and 'Looks at things' but that's obvious.
His outfit and his hair looks like David Tennant, but that's the extent. Brown haired guys with big tan trenchcoats are the most cookie cutter flavor of man there ever was. If you put Lupin III's Detective Zenigata together side by side with Looker he's also very similar, as is Ace Attorney's Dick Gumshoe and Columbo who was airing in Japan during the 1970s. case being that Looker looks like doctor who the same way he looks like a lot of characters
The way he speaks i've heard is because the english localizer based it off of a detective from a pink panther movie, but i never got the doctor feeling from how he talked. even the whole dimensional travel thing was a one time thing and not entirely confirmed whether it was hoopa or wormholes or some other thing in ORAS. But it certainly wasn't because he wanted to and he lost his whole memory afterwards. The alien stuff in SM is more MIB related or government organizations dealing with aliens secretly.
Looker is a weird dude but i don't think he shares much of any similarities with doctor who. He appears a lot but same does cynthia and red and they're not immortal, he doesn't have a dimensional travel machine or a sonic screwdriver. he's everywhere chasing bad guys but so is the whole lupin series and a lot of his plots are just detective side stories. even paper mario thousand year door did the same thing.
maybe doctor who was a minor inspiration? but if looker really was the doctor, he does a pretty bad job at being a doctor who love letter.

2024.06.09 18:37 gabboman To celebrate pride month this year here is what tumblr is doing and what you can do :D
2024.06.09 16:25 Jelly_Oceanus How do you deal with someone who can never be wrong?
Hi, sorry if this turns out super long or anything. This is my first time posting. Please be nice.. So I have a sister who is extremely difficult to talk to normally because she constantly feels the need to be right about every single thing and absolutely refuses to admit she's wrong even if it's something you can literally just Google. Whenever she talks to me and I don't know something she treats me like I'm a complete idiot and rudely says "DUH" and "How do you not know that??" (Jeez i don't know, maybe because not everyone on the planet will know the same things). When I corrected her in the nicest way possible she got SUPER upset about it and said "I'm not going to argue with you about this" i wasn't arguing with her.
You want to know what the "argument" was? So the backstory is she recently started listening to the Sonic Frontiers soundtrack and she heard the song "Undefeatable" by Kellin Quinn and she was casually talking to me about it and said something like she knew his voice sounded familiar and she said "Kellin Quinn. Pierce the Veil" at the time I had no clue about that band or who that was so I decided to Google it and I saw an article saying that no he's not from Pierce the Veil but he and Victor Fuentes sound similar. And I was like "Oh"
So not too long later she mentioned it again and said Kellin Quinn was the lead singer of Pierce the veil and I was hesitant to speak up at first because I don't like confrontation and she's the type to just shut me down or silence me. So i just said "Kellin Quinn is actually the lead singer of sleeping with Sirens and the lead singer of Pierce the veil is Vic fuentes.. They just have similar voices" Of course I had the audacity to correct her and she did not like that. (Btw I'm starting to question myself please correct me if I'm wrong. Kellin Quinn is the lead singer of Sleeping with Sirens and only did one collab is that correct?) she claims to like Kellin Quinn so much but doesn't even know what band he's in and refuses to listen to his band because I corrected her.
Both bands have really good music so I guess her loss? It's actually kind of messed up that she refuses to acknowledge the real singer in pierce the veil and keeps crediting his work to someone else just because she's God or something and can never be wrong. After that one incident she absolutely refused to let it go so she'll keep poking at me every chance she gets. On the surface all of this might just sound like a non issue but it's so frustrating for me because I feel like there's a deeper issue with her and she's turning this into a big thing when she can just GOOGLE IT. This was weeks ago and she's still stuck on this!
Yesterday I was watching Acheeto (a YouTuber) talk about Dhar Mann and he made a joke about one of the actors looking like the lead singer of Pierce the Veil and my sister used this as an opportunity to poke at me and said "See even he said pierce the veil. Haha why does he look like Kellin Quinn" and honestly I just didn't respond because like I said this has been going on for weeks and I feel like she's being extremely immature over literally nothing. I don't want to have this conversation anymore. I'm honestly just waiting for her to say it in front of someone else and they make her feel stupid for holding onto wrong information because she just can't be wrong. This is not the first issue like this I've had with her and each time I don't know how to respond.
I don't like conflict so I just don't talk and try to ignore it. How do you deal with people like this? Any advice? And sorry if this all just seems dumb or if it's too long. If it's important at all she's 20 years old and I'm 24. I usually just don't talk to her because she'll get offended at almost anything or try to put me down. Having a conversation with her feels like walking on eggshells. The only thing I can really do is just hang on until August when I finally move out.
