2024.05.17 13:21 Accomplished-Run171 Opening Sequence of My Free Verse Paradise Lost Response Titled Blood of the Lamb

I'm embarking on an ambitious project - a multi-book free verse poem that will serve as response to John Milton's epic Paradise Lost. This opening sequence sets the stage and lays out the narrative ground I intend to cover.
In these first stanzas, I am reintroducing the story and framing it as a response to where Paradise Lost left off- Adam and Eve being banished from Eden. The first six lines are direct quotes from Milton’s poem Paradise Lost.
The next section will see me directly invoking the Holy Spirit as my muse and guide, much as Milton did with his famous Opening Invocation to the heavenly muse. I'll post that portion soon!
Anyways, here is the planned opening sequence:
Of Man's first disobedience, and the fruit Of that forbidden tree whose mortal taste Brought death into the world, and all our woe, With loss of Eden, till one greater Man Restore us, and regain the blissful seat, Sing Heav'nly Muse! Yet here mine art relates This sacred song serves as another collection Continuing from Paradise once lost Through disobedience's guilty breach - When disobedience and pride overdaring, defied The Eternal Sovereign’s high command, plunging our shared ancestry Into pandæmonium’s abysmal depths. But now arrives the light of glad renewal, Reversing that fell tragedy, the golden strands Regathered, rewoven into Eden's reparation cord! Let me voice then recall how virgin-born Radiant glory came, irrigating the blighted field With grace's purling streams, until from the tomb Deathless life arisen, and sin's vile burial chamber Was as hollow as the narrow gate through which obedience and righteousness Ushered eternal life, unclouded breath, The unfading amaranth wreath! Let my lips give voice To the emancipating birth that unbound our adamantine chains From earth, reattaining the world's pristine morning When heaven and nature dwelled in espousal's embrace, Before the fissure of dishonest desolation yawned. This luminous evangel be my soul's inspired proposal, As I give a voice to the Holy Spirit’s breath.

Stubborn pigmentation on smile lines
I’ve been dealing with this pigmentation on my smile lines since puberty. It makes me look a lot older than my age without makeup. I am 19 and it is still there despite long-term use of various skincare treatments, like azalaeic acid and vitamin c. I stopped using these for the last year, and have been using kojic acid instead. I have also been using SPF 50 all year round since I was 15 (even though I live in the UK). I had a vitamin D deficiency last year which I took prescription-strength supplements, and after finishing this, I now take over-the-counter supplements for this daily.
The first picture was taken this morning, and the next was taken in April 2023. Some days the pigmentation looks better, and others it looks like this/worse. I can see an improvement in the pigmentation under the nostrils, which is probably due to kojic acid. But the pigmentation itself looks more prominent, perhaps because the skin around it has lightened.
How do I get my skin to look like the last picture? I took this after applying some concealer, like I do everyday. I’d like to be able to go without wearing makeup. I can’t even leave the house without putting concealer over this pigmentation as it makes me look years older.
I am Asian so I’m unsure about using hydroquinone. I also do not want to use too many actives, as I do not want to damage the skin here and develop wrinkles.
My skincare routine for the last year has been benzoyl peroxide cleanser and SPF 50 every morning, and then oil cleanser, micellar water gel cleanser, kojic acid soap (only on smile lines) and The Ordinary NMF moisturiser every evening. This routine cleared my cystic acne and scars in a few months, but minimal change in the smile line pigmentation.
Thank you in advance 💕☺️

2024.05.17 13:21 Adorable_Exchange223 Should I persevere in learnings Pitmanns or switch to Teeline?

I've been interested in learning shorthannd since I was a teenager (I'm now 30), and when I was 15 I learned some of the basics of Pitmann's from an extremely dated book I found in a charity bookshop. I now work in a profession which requires me to take lots of notes, and while I can touch type very quickly I'd prefer to move back to pen and paper to reduce my screen time.
I've been working through a Pittmann's book and I'm about half way. I can write most things, albeit slowly. Reading my notes back is still a challenge, though. However, I'm finding learning all the short forms a bit of a slog, particularly since they're often quite out of date (e.g., having to learn the words for type writer, typing pool, etc...), and the fact that Pittman's has to be written on lined paper using a pen to differentiate light and heavy strokes is annoying.
I was thinking of switching to Teeline because I've heard it's faster to learn and doesn't used light/heavy strokes. Also, it seems to be more commonly used than Pittman's these days so the resources are more up to date. However, it seems like a slog to go back to square one, especially since some of the forms look like Pitmann's forms but have different meanings. What would you recommend I do?
Another question—do you ever get to the point where you can just read back your notes like normal writing? Or do you always have to spend time interpreting them? Because that would make shorthand much less useful for my purposes.
Any advice appreciated.

2024.05.17 13:01 SexxxMelaneexxx Tyburn

A Tyburn is a form of six-line poetic structure with a specific syllable count in each line. It was created by American poet Harry Graham and is known for its distinctive pattern. The structure is as follows:
  1. Line 1: 2 syllables
  2. Line 2: 2 syllables
  3. Line 3: 2 syllables
  4. Line 4: 9 syllables
  5. Line 5: 9 syllables
  6. Line 6: 9 syllables
Each of the first three lines rhymes with the corresponding line in the second half (lines 4-6). It's often used for light or humorous poems due to its concise and rhythmic nature.

BFN at 12 DPO, but these temps are trolling me
My cycle is very off right after a CP. I have been rational about knowing this cycle is unlikely to be successful. But when I had another temp rise this morning, I thought I might actually get a BFP. I guess it’s my first troll chart 🙄. I know I’m not out until cd1, but a BFN at 12 DPO feels pretty definitive right now.

2024.05.17 12:47 DrYangHF7 The severe 30-year anemia completely recovered via Buddhism (贫血)

Gratitude to Namo Sakyamuni Buddha!
Gratitude to the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva!
Gratitude to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from ten directions and three periods of time!
Gratitude to the Dharma protectors!
Gratitude to the selfless, altruistic, and benevolent Master Lu!
Hello everyone! I am Buddhist practitioner Li. Today, with immense gratitude, I share with you my Buddhist experience. The topic is: The severe 30-year anemia completely recovered via Buddhism
In 2016, I started practicing Buddhism when the opportunity arose. In 2017, I invited Guan Yin Bodhisattva into my home. After setting up the Buddhist altar, I frequently witnessed the rolls of incense ash and the blooming of lotus flowers on oil lamps. These strengthened my confidence in practicing Buddhism and reciting Buddhist scriptures, and every day was filled with joy from the Dharma!
In 2018, at the age of 49, my master enlightened me I entered the age of my 369 predestined calamity. From my recollections, I specifically followed Master Lu's guidance and made vows to Guan Yin Bodhisattva, reciting 49 Little Houses to help my karmic creditors.
One afternoon, while crossing the street, I had two large bags in my hands and decided to set them down on the ground for a moment to rest my hands before picking them up again. As I looked up, I saw a car speeding towards me, and I was terrified, unsure of how to avoid it. In that moment of emergency, I shouted, "Bodhisattva bless me," and accelerated to run across the street. The car didn't slow down at all and whooshed past me from behind. When I turned my head, I was shocked—it was such a close call! It nearly hit me. I am grateful for the compassionate blessings of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, which allowed me to safely pass through the calamity at the age of 49.
I have been suffering from anemia since giving birth, nearly 30 years ago. Before I started practicing Buddhism, I had tried various blood tonics, but none of them worked. Normally, whenever I took blood tonic medicine, my hemoglobin levels would rise slightly, but if I didn't take the medicine, I would feel drowsy and lethargic every day.
In 2020, I knelt before the Buddhist altar and made vows to abstain from killing and adopt a fully vegetarian diet, praying for the blessings of the Bodhisattvas to maintain my health and help eliminate karmic obstacles. I persisted in reciting sets of 21 and 69 Little Houses in cycles, and over the years, I have recited a few thousands sheets. I also made vows to recite 108 Little Houses to eliminate karmic obstacles related to my eyesight, release 1200 fish, adhere to reading and reciting the Buddhism in Plain Terms, distribute Dharma materials as opportunities arose, promote vegetarianism, conduct monthly animal liberation, propagate Dharma in online groups, and offer free Dharma Gems to new practitioners, among other practices.
On December 5, 2023, I went to the hospital for a routine blood test, and the results came back normal! My hemoglobin level, which used to be 80-90, was now 145, within the reference range of 110-150. The doctor said that my levels had improved and that I could stop taking medication.
Grateful for the compassionate blessings of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, being vegetarian and reciting scriptures can indeed remove karma and help repay karmic debts! Being vegetarian and reciting scriptures have restored my health indicators to normal, which is truly beyond my expectations! Gratitude to the compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva for always answering prayers, blessing me with health, and rescuing me from the sea of suffering.
Previously, I also suffered from recurrent mouth ulcers, which would take 15 to 20 days to heal each time they occurred. The pain from the ulcers would unsettle my mind and seriously affect my daily life. Now, the mouth ulcers have also healed without my noticing!
The Buddha's teachings are truly magnificent. The countless miraculous occurrences that have happened to me and my family fully prove the authenticity of the Dharma. I will definitely persevere, diligently propagate the Dharma, recite scriptures to eliminate karma, strengthen my faith, respect my master, uphold the path with diligence, and never regress!
If there is anything that is not rational or in line with the truth in the presentation, I pray for forgiveness from Namo Sakyamuni Buddha, the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and Dharma protectors.
I would appreciate my fellow Buddhist practitioners' critique and correction! I, not my fellow Buddhist practitioners, will be responsible for my own karma!
Buddhist practitioner: Cai Hong, Gratitude and Namaste!

2024.05.17 12:42 MiiJack [REQUEST] [STEAM] Persona 3 Reload (15% off on GameBillet)

Greetings GoG. I've come here with a humble request for Persona 3 Reload on Steam, which is currently on sale for roughly ~$60 (or 15% off) on GameBillet.

What is Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of base Persona 3 with several changes:

Will I enjoy it?

Although I haven't played many JRPGs, as they tend to be quite time-consuming, I really like Persona games. From the social life aspect to the motif tackled in each entry, they somewhat impact the way I see life. I also enjoy RPGs (some examples are Kingdom Hearts, Rune Factory). I love story-rich games, especially games with great and unique soundtracks: I don't really have a genre, but there's always that one soundtrack that sticks in my head when I think of one. I've finished both Persona 4 & Persona 5 and spent around 150h each. I also noticed that when I played them, I was a bit too engrossed in them that I didn't play anything else until I finished them.
I'm looking forward seeing Elizabeth goofing around in glorious HD the most. Second to it are the character interactions, Reload makes them more personal as you can see more than basic body movement/face expression (or even just up to your imagination) which are integral to the other half of the game: the social aspect of it.
Comparing the mechanics to Persona 5, two things come to mind:
  1. There are fusion skills (or theurgy) from what I saw. It's a gauge that fills up overtime/ with attacks? so you can do some special skill if you meet certain conditions. I think it works like in Etrian Odyssey or even Persona Q
  2. Physical type attacks are now 3 instead of 2. Strike wasn't added back in 5 oddly enough (P4 unified phys. atk into just one for simplicity I believe). Also, no Psychokinesis or Nuclear magic skills.
Why can't I buy the game?
Money is a little tight at the moment as a university student, between living expense and food, I don't have that much money to spend, but I save what I can little by little. And I would like to wind down a bit on playing Tekken. I've already spent the 1$ trial on Palworld, and the recurring cost of subscription (10$/month) doesn't suite well with me. If anything, please try the game (even the non-remake) out if you haven't tried JRPGs before, it will be worth your time.
My Steam account.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and have a beautiful day or evening. In case you need soundtracks for your next study session, may I suggest you some of them here. I don't know how to convey my love for the Persona series, but I'll gradually update my post with each new attempt.

2024.05.17 12:41 aman_shaikh45 Unveiling the Beauty of Kashmir: A Summer Paradise

Kashmir, often referred to as "Paradise on Earth," is a region of unparalleled natural beauty located in the northern part of India. Nestled in the lap of the majestic Himalayas, this enchanting land is a tapestry of snow-capped mountains, lush green valleys, serene lakes, and vibrant gardens. In the summer, when the snow melts to reveal verdant landscapes and blooming flowers, Kashmir transforms into an idyllic retreat for travelers seeking respite from the sweltering heat of the plains.
The Allure of Kashmir in Summer
As the temperatures rise in the rest of India, Kashmir offers a cool and refreshing escape. The climate during the summer months, from May to September, is pleasantly mild, with temperatures ranging between 15°C to 30°C. This makes it an ideal time to explore the scenic beauty and engage in various outdoor activities.
One of the most captivating sights in Kashmir is the Dal Lake in Srinagar. The lake, surrounded by the Mughal gardens and the Pir Panjal mountain range, is dotted with traditional houseboats and shikaras (wooden boats). A shikara ride on Dal Lake at sunset is an experience that remains etched in the memory of every visitor. The Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh, both exquisite examples of Mughal horticulture, provide a tranquil setting for leisurely strolls amidst blooming flowers and cascading fountains.
Gulmarg, known as the "Meadow of Flowers," is another must-visit destination. During summer, its vast meadows are carpeted with a riot of colors, thanks to many wildflowers in full bloom. Adventure enthusiasts can indulge in trekking, horse riding, and mountain biking activities. Gulmarg is also home to the highest golf course in the world, offering breathtaking views while you enjoy a game.
Pahalgam, the "Valley of Shepherds," is famous for its pristine beauty and serene environment. The confluence of the Lidder River and the Sheshnag Lake adds to the charm of this quaint town. Pahalgam serves as a base for the annual Amarnath Yatra and is a favored spot for trekking and camping. The Betaab Valley, named after a Bollywood movie shot here, is a picturesque location with lush greenery and crystal-clear streams.
Sonamarg, or the "Meadow of Gold," is renowned for its enchanting landscape adorned with golden flowers and snowy peaks. It is the gateway to the Thajiwas Glacier, which is accessible even in summer, offering a surreal experience of walking on snow amid the warm season. The Sindh River meandering through Sonamarg provides opportunities for trout fishing and white-water rafting.
Jammu Kashmir Tour Package: An Unforgettable Journey
To truly immerse yourself in the splendor of Kashmir, consider opting for a Jammu Kashmir tour package. These packages are designed to provide a comprehensive and hassle-free experience, covering the most iconic destinations and activities. Typically, a tour package includes accommodation in comfortable hotels or houseboats, guided sightseeing tours, and transportation. Some packages also offer additional activities like pony rides, gondola rides in Gulmarg, and river rafting in Pahalgam.
Kashmir Summer Packages: Tailored for Every Traveler
Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple seeking a romantic getaway, or a family looking for a memorable vacation, Kashmir summer packages cater to diverse preferences and budgets. These packages often include:
  1. Accommodation: From luxurious houseboats on Dal Lake to charming cottages in the valleys.

2024.05.17 12:22 jonaskoelker [11/22] What's your favorite episode 11 across all seasons?

Winners so far:
Tabula Rasa beat Lovers Walk about 2:1 (64 vs. 30) votes, with Pangs and The Dark Age coming in at 8 and 5 votes.
Something Blue narrowly inched ahead of The Wish, 37 to 35 votes, with What's My Line and Smashed coming in at 11 and 9 votes.
Hush wiped the floor with everyone else, at 88 votes to What's My Line at 15 and everything else at 6.
Over on IMDB they prefer The Wish (9.1) over Something Blue (8.9). I think this is the first time we disagree with the IMDB voters by preferring something other than the S3 episode.
Let's pick an episode 11. Where episode 7 was an embarrassment of riches, I think this will be the opposite. And I'm really not sure I'm lumping together the right pair of episodes into one option. But we'll see, and if the favored episode is unclear I'll re-poll.
