User manual as a PDF

2024.05.19 06:08 muzso User manual as a PDF

This is my first shot at this. My original goal was to just create a local copy that can be used in a browser even if your offline, but u/olegccc's comment in https://www.reddit.com/ex30/comments/1cv3v2t/pdf_user_manual/ gave me the idea to generate a PDF from it.
It's already pretty usable, but still more like a proof-of-concept, than a polished end result.
The PDF was created with the following steps:
  1. Download a copy (local mirror) of the online manual. I used wget for now, but it's far from perfect (the mirroring process is quite error prone).
  2. Process/modify the downloaded copy so it doesn't reference www.volvocars.com. I.e. make the copy self-contained, so it works even if offline.
  3. Remove all JavaScript. This was easier than to solve the issues with burned-in hostnames and/or absolute URLs. For a PDF the JS code is not needed anyway.
  4. Test in browsers via a local HTTP server (actually I just used Python's built-in HTTP server).
  5. Generate a new "index-single-page.html" by using the start (mostly the ) from index.html, then adding the contents of the tags from all pages (index.html, software-release-notes, article/*).
  6. Add CSS page breaks between all pages, this makes the PDF more readable.
  7. Close the HTML (i.e. add a "").
  8. Open the new "index-single-page.html" page in a browser and save as PDF.
I've created two versions of the PDF from the same HTML source. One with Firefox and one with Chrome.
Both are based on a snapshot of the UK user manual, saved on 2024-04-29.
Known issues:
  1. I've inserted page breaks before every manual page, but Firefox doesn't honor the first one (i.e. the one between the ToC and the "Software updates" pages). Chrome has no such issue.
  2. There're a number of mp4 movie files in the manual, which the PDF rendering simply left empty (blank space). Later I'll take snapshots of these mp4 files and replace the video elements with them.
  3. A couple of images are missing. I used wget to create a local mirror of the manual and there were some issues, it's not very robust, especially when volvocars.com starts to throttle the download (i.e. starts to send HTTP 4xx responses after a couple of hundred requests). Wget is not great at continuing an aborted mirroring session either. I'll try to look for a better tool for mirroring/saving the online manual.
Let me know what you think, what other issues/bugs you find, etc.

2024.05.19 06:01 AutoModerator Official Q&A for Sunday, May 19, 2024

With over 3,125,000 subscribers, there are a lot of posts that come in everyday that are often repeats of questions previously asked or covered in the FAQ.
With that in mind, this post can be a place for any questions (especially those that may not deserve their own thread). Hopefully this is successful and helps to lower clutter and repeating posts here.
If you are new to the sub or to running, this Intro post is a good resource.

As always don't forget to check the FAQ.

And please take advantage of the search bar or Google's subreddit limited search.

We're trying to take advantage of one of New Reddit's features, collections. It lets the mods group posts into Collections. We're giving it a try on posts that get good feedback that would be useful for future users. We've setup some common topic Collections and will add new posts to these as they arise as well as start new Collections as needed. Here's the link to the wiki with a list of the current Collections.

2024.05.19 02:49 Multiversal_Love pass questions to ChatGPT via URL?

You know how you can put parameters into a URL
is there some way
or some work around to do so to ChatGPT (or other alike AI?)
maybe using some work around - like iframe from my own site - like I'd send a request to www.mysite.com/ai?q=%s and once on the site I'd press a button to fill a form in an frame or ifram where ChatGPT is loaded and via DOM - fill in the text box and press to search ...
and would be really cool to be able to be ablet to send the request to two or even more engines - say OpenAI and Gemini
for example you can do a Google search using:
https://www.google.com/search?q={0}
or Google images
https://www.google.com/search?q={0}&tbm=isch
Google translate
https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&text={0}&op=translate

2024.05.18 20:05 Hereibe Post Mortem Breakdown Of the Lore.Fm Debacle

Post Mortem Breakdown Of the Lore.Fm Debacle

People Involved

  • TikTok user unravel.me.now, face of Lore.fm and sole person appearing in all the official TikToks
  • WishRoll, the company behind Lore.fm that has previously made an AI-story-generating app, and was on Forbes 30 Under 30 for their music-sharing app Kiwi

Timeline

  • May 6 24 TikTok user unravel.me.now posted a TikTok titled "pov: you built a personal app for yourself that turns any ao3 fic into an audiobook but your mom is asking you what you're listening to when you're washing the dishes (it's a 90k word gojo x reader angsty slowburn).
  • From May 6 - May 16 the account continues to upload videos where the app allegedly goes from a personal project to a fully completed app called Lore.fm calling for Betas and eventually fully launching on May 16 2024 posting invite links & puzzle videos to guess the invite code of the day to generate buzz. The videos with the invite code puzzles have since been deleted since the screenshot below.
  • Throughout May 6 - May 18 (the time of posting for this write up) any negative comments or comments that expressed concerns were deleted by unravel.me.now. Any comments that contained polite questions deemed too difficult to answer were also deleted.
  • People with experience in creating and launching an app noticed that it is highly unlikely this was a simple personal project considering how fast it got everything together for launch. Later people began to research the creators of this app, but at this time any comments expressing suspicion this was a simple personal project striking lightning were deleted.
  • Each video marketed the app as "Audible for Ao3". Unlike Audible, which uses voice actors and gains full rights and permission from authors, Lore.fm used AI generated voices (created with voice actors who consented to their voices being used for AI) and did not ask for any permission.
  • The way the app was intended to work according to the Apple Store was that users could add any link they wanted and the app would generate an audiobook with the voice they selected. This data would be stored both locally and on Lore.fm's servers.
  • On TikTok, unravel.me.now was saying that eventually the app would have even more capabilities. Eventually the app developers wanted a "Spotify Wrapped" experience. They wanted a top charts list with most listened to fics on the platform.
  • In Lore.fm's TOS it explicitly bans using the app to circulate and disseminate various things like scams, solicitations, etc. This implies the app was always intended NOT to be only a personal library.
  • May 16 2024 officially launches in the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. It uses Archive of Our Own's urls in it's demo pictures. According to the opening paragraphs of the TOS there was no data scraping for AI learning nor was there any third party selling of data. According to Privacy Policy they work with third-party partners and services to obtain data about their users.
  • May 16 2024 The Privacy Policy on lore.fm confirmed that despite conflicting comments by unravel.me.now on TikTok, the app WOULD store a copy on the users device and on lore.fm's servers. Their policies stated that it was the users granting them permission, despite knowing for a fact their users would not be uploading material with a clear copyright in their name. "Information submitted to lore.fm will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. When you use the Software on your computing device, User Content you save will be stored locally on that device and synced with our servers. If you post or transfer any Information to or through our App, Software, and/or Services, you are agreeing to such Information, including Personal Data and User Content, being hosted and accessed in the United States."
  • May 16 2024 u/totallymandy posts a reddit thread titled "Audible for Ao3 :/" which brings attention to this app from people who do not use TikTok.
  • Redditors find one of the rare times unravel.me.now answers a question, confirming that lore.fm cannot access locked fanfiction (fanfiction on Archive of Our Own that has been set to be viewable only by people who are logged into an AO3 account). See screenshot section below.
  • This quickly spirals into multiple threads all over Ao3, Tumblr, and Twitter. There were posts on Tumblr prior to this one, but the post that ended up traveling wildly through Tumblr was posted by creativitycache on May 16th
  • May 16-17 Authors begin massively flooding into the [team@lore.fm](mailto:team@lore.fm) email inbox to Opt Out. The team is unprepared for this, and begins responding with wildly unprofessional and guilt tripping responses. Eventually as the flood continued the responses became standardized. Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3
  • May 17 It became clear the lore.fm team is monitoring both Tumblr and Reddit, as they are linking directly to reddit threads in their replies and are addressing Tumblr posts in response to private dms. rivkae-winters on Tumblr got some of the first replies showing they were actively reading threads on other websites. It was just as unprofessional as you'd expect.
  • May 16 Users became aware that previously the team that worked on lore.fm produced a story-generating AI app that has gotten terrible reviews. This deepens the distrust that data uploaded to Lore.fm will not be later used for furthering AI stories, despite the current TOS. Redditors, Tumblrites, and whatever Twitter users call themselves now all began to speculate just how the app was planning on running. Where were they getting the funds? Where were funds projected to come from in the future?
  • May 17 A TikTok is posted by unravel.me.now stating they are pausing release of Lore.fm. This TikTok does NOT state they are shutting down entirely, but that they are considering it and are opening a discussion. They continue to delete any critical comments on their TikToks. Other users pointed out that this TikTok contains language accusing any detractors of ableism, not mentioning the main reasons people are upset/not actually addressing the concerns people have, calling other screen readers poor products, and using auto-generated captions that were not edited and have multiple errors in them despite touting themselves as an accessibility company.
  • May 18 lore.fm is finally pulled from the app stores. The main website remains online, as does their TikTok account.

Problems With The App

  • Copyright laws are a nightmare, and I'm not touching the legalese breakdown here. Just in general, that. AO3 doesn't have an official app for deliberate reasons, due to the app store's policies.
  • Using AO3 as a content-generator for an app. If it were a screen reader, or one of the other various apps that read things in a pleasant voice for accessibility reasons, there would be no problem. But this was a separate app that did not link back to AO3 or allow its users to give AO3 writers any interaction/feedback. This app essentially billed itself as a way to package free fan work provided to AO3 as content it controlled.
  • Suspicion of intent. How were the developers going to recoup their costs? Why wasn't the data encrypted? Why were they marketing this as specifically for AO3 instead of a general accessibility tool? Why were they not addressing any concerns brought to them before or after launch? Why were they marketing this as a small personal project that implied it was a fan-created app, instead of putting their company name big and bold on it? What were their intentions regarding their other story AI app?
  • Opt Out/Consent Since this app was in a legal quagmire, clearly not designed primarily as an accessibility tool, and was hiding all criticism, authors did not feel comfortable with their work being used for this app. They were especially furious that they had to reach out to the lore.fm team and ask to be taken off- they had nothing to do with this project and yet were being told it was their responsibility to refuse instead of lore.fm's responsibility to ask. Authors were also upset on behalf of all the works marked Anonymous, Orphaned Worked, works where the Author's didn't have a way of even hearing about this app's existence, and deceased Authors who never could have predicted an app like this.
Let me know if I missed anything!

2024.05.18 20:02 Quantum_Force [ffmpeg.wasm] help needed solving.. DOMException: Failed to construct 'Worker': Script at '/814.ffmpeg.js' cannot be accessed from origin ''

Wondering if someone might be able to kindly lend some advice re. an exception I can't seem to solve:
I have written a google chrome extension using local ffmpegwasm files (no need to run a server or download any ffmpegwasm files), which allows users to click an injected 'download' button under Reddit videos (via content_scripts). This was working great on ffmpegwasm v11, but since migrating to v12 (latest version) I have been unable to solve the following exception which is triggered during ffmpeg.load(): as seen in chrome's console log:
DOMException: Failed to construct 'Worker': Script at 'https://www.redditstatic.com/814.ffmpeg.js' cannot be accessed from origin 'https://reddit.com'. At i.load (chrome-extension://ljejfmmefhnpbpdhkhbbajpihfhnbdnm/lib/ffmpeg/umd/ffmpeg.js:1:2918)
I'm a programming beginner and I've been stuck trying to fix this for many, many hours. This exception does not happen and the video downloads if I instead use a feature of my extension which allows entering a Reddit video URL directly into a field in the extensions popup or options window. Also, I have no idea why the 814.ffmpeg.js file is being referenced along with redditstatic.com (from exception to exception, this url seems to randomly change to other reddit url's too), though I imagine this is part of the problem?
I have seen there are a couple of mentions of this error on the github repository, with some fixes involving using the worker814URL and/or classWorkerURL params within ffmpeg.load() and pointing them to the 814.ffmpeg.js file, which I have tried without any success (although I did notice that using classWorkerURL changed https://www.redditstatic.com/814.ffmpeg.js to chrome-extension://ljejfmmefhnpbpdhkhbbajpihfhnbdnm/lib/ffmpeg/umd/814.ffmpeg.js). Though, It seems that previous discussions around this error might not be too helpful for me as those appear geared towards ffmpegwasm running with a server, as apposed to entirely locally within a chrome extension.
Any help would be super appreciated - many thanks

2024.05.18 14:30 Butthurtdiarreah The peculiar case of every free marketers wet dream (because it isn't really)

https://www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2018/03/09/how-capitalist-is-singapore-really/
The Singaporean state owns 90 percent of the country’s land. Remarkably, this level of ownership was not present from the beginning. In 1949, the state owned just 31 percent of the country’s land. It got up to 90 percent land ownership through decades of forced sales, or what people in the US call eminent domain.
The Singaporean state does not merely own the land. They directly develop it, especially for residential purposes. Over 80 percent of Singapore’s population lives in housing constructed by the country’s public housing agency HDB. The Singaporean government claims that around 90 percent of people living in HDB units “own” their home. But the way it really works is that, when a new HDB unit is built, the government sells a transferable 99-year lease for it. The value of that lease slowly declines as it approaches the 99-year mark, after which point the lease expires and possession of the HDB unit reverts back to the state. Thus, Singapore is a land where almost everyone is a long-term public housing tenant.
Then there are the state-owned enterprises, which they euphemistically call Government-linked Companies (GLCs). Through its sovereign wealth fund Temasek, the Singaporean government owns a large share (20% or more) of 20 companies (2012 figure). Together these companies make up 37% of the market capitalization of the Singaporean stock market. The state also owns a large share of 8 real estate investment trust (REIT) companies (2012 figure), which they call GLREITs. The value of the GLREITs make up 54% of the country’s total REIT market.
The sovereign wealth fund Temasek doesn’t just own domestic assets. It also is invested broadly throughout the world, especially in other Asian countries. In March of last year, Temasek had a net portfolio value of S$275 billion, which is equal to around 62% of the country’s annual GDP. To put this figure in more familiar terms, Temasek’s total holdings are equivalent to if the US government built a $12.4 trillion wealth fund.
The case of Singapore is more than just a funny gotcha to use against right-wingers. It actually raises an interesting question about what it is people care about when it comes to “capitalism” and “socialism.” Is capitalism primarily about markets or private ownership? Relatedly, is socialism primarily about ending markets or promoting collective ownership? Often these things are bundled together, but they are logically and practically separable. Singapore (and Norway, among others) shows that it is quite possible to collectively own the means of production while also using price systems to assist in the allocation of productive factors. This is what market socialists have been saying for a hundred years.
So I have to ask, just how Capitalist is Singapore, the " ideal model" of Lassiaze faire Capitalists?

2024.05.18 11:16 MembershipTasty712 Improve WordPress website speed... 13 Tips for beginners!

In today's fast-paced digital environment, a slow-loading WordPress website can significantly affect user experience, search engine rankings, and ultimately, your revenue.
Users expect websites to load quickly, and even a few seconds of delay can lead to higher bounce rates and lost visitors.
Here’s a detailed guide on how to speed up your WordPress website and improve load times, with a focus on optimization techniques, best practices, and the importance of web hosting.

1. Choose the Right Web Hosting Provider

Your choice of web hosting provider is crucial for your website’s performance. Here’s what to consider:
Recommendation: Look for web hosting providers known for their speed and reliability, such as Cloudways, TMD Hosting, and Namecheap. These providers offer various hosting plans that cater to WordPress sites' specific needs.

2. Enable Compression

Reducing the size of your files through compression can significantly decrease load times. Gzip is a popular compression method that can reduce the size of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files.
How to Enable Gzip Compression in WordPress:

3. Optimize Images

Images often make up a large portion of a webpage’s total size. Optimizing them can lead to significant improvements in load times.
Tips for Image Optimization:

4. Minify CSS, JavaScript, and HTML

Minification removes unnecessary characters from code (like spaces, commas, and comments) to reduce file sizes.
How to Minify Your Files:

5. Leverage Browser Caching

Browser caching stores some data on the user's device so they don’t have to download it again on subsequent visits. This can drastically reduce load times for returning visitors.
Setting Up Browser Caching in WordPress:

6. Reduce Server Response Time

A faster server response time can lead to quicker page loads. This depends heavily on your web hosting provider.
Tips to Improve Server Response Time:

7. Enable HTTP/2

HTTP/2 allows multiple requests to be sent for data simultaneously over a single TCP connection, improving load times.
How to Enable HTTP/2:

8. Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN)

A CDN stores copies of your website’s content at multiple locations around the world. This helps deliver content to users from the nearest server, reducing load times.
Popular CDN Providers:
WordPress CDN Integration:

9. Reduce Redirects

Too many redirects create additional HTTP requests, which can slow down your website. Minimize redirects where possible.
How to Reduce Redirects:

10. Optimize Your Database

A well-optimized database can improve load times, especially for dynamic websites like those running on WordPress.
Database Optimization Tips:

11. Use Asynchronous Loading for CSS and JavaScript

Loading CSS and JavaScript files asynchronously can prevent them from blocking the rendering of your webpage.
How to Implement Asynchronous Loading:

12. Optimize Web Fonts

Web fonts can add significant load time if not optimized properly.
Optimizing Web Fonts:
Plugins for Font Optimization:

13. Monitor and Analyze Performance

Regular monitoring helps you identify and address performance bottlenecks.
Tools for Monitoring Performance:
Plugins for WordPress Performance Monitoring:
Conclusion Improving your WordPress website’s load time is crucial for enhancing user experience, boosting SEO rankings, and increasing conversions. By implementing these optimization techniques and choosing the right web hosting provider, you can ensure your website performs at its best. 2024.05.18 02:14 Kangaroo-Spoon Arc URL input field cursor boundaries

Requisite "I love arc but..." preamble (I actually do though so no hate here)
I really think it would be an improvement if the search bar recognized periods as a valid word boundary when using cursor shortcuts to jump to different parts of the URL. For example, if I type www.google.xom, I'll want to navigate back to fix my typo. My typical behavior would be to use OPTION + LEFT ARROW to jump just before the x in “xom” and then delete and correct it. I might also use OPTION + BACKSPACE to delete all of “xom” and quickly retype “com”. Unfortunately, the current implementation does not recognize periods as a valid boundary so, out of habit, I find myself either jumping to the beginning of the URL or deleting all of the text contents.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar feelings. I submitted this feedback a while back, but I'm sure it won't get any love without a larger audience. Given how common the expected behavior is in other text editors I would imagine other users have had similar thoughts about this.
FYI, I have not tested this out on Windows so, I'm not sure if the behavior is the same.

2024.05.17 21:32 ballzdepratnemnt Bakom/Vakom

Bakom is a hybrid martial art that originated in Peru. Former marine and jujutsu master Roberto Puch Bezada founded Bakom in the 1980s. Bezada was also a former convict from Villa el Salvador in Lima. Bakom is recognized as a hybrid martial art because it mixes martial arts like jujutsu with street fighting techniques. Jujutsu involves defeating an opponent without a weapon, or with a small weapon.
The street fighting smash mouth style came from the slums at the edge of Lima. Bakom required an emphasis on power, with the attacks designed to ruin an opponents balance. There is also an element of surprise and deception as fighters can use hidden, secretive weapons in battle.
What makes Bakom distinct from other combat practices is the vicious nature of the martial art. The fighting style is made to inflict the maximum amount of pain on the opponent and become too much for the opponent to handle. A fight that takes place when Bakom is utilized, many times ends in death of one of the competitors.
bakom is a martial art that mainly focuses on efficiency and the intent to take down your opponent in the fastest way possible even if it kills them. Vakom/Bakom is also banned to teach in peru due to its deadliness. its not very known because its banned to teach. but I would rank it top 4 on the deadliest martial arts, But you have to train yourself to be fast and strong enough to actually do any of the techniques because it requires you to be unexpected. (I just really wanna somehow show this golden martial art to people. it deserves to be recognized. I would understand if u hate me because people kinda hate this martial art because its too unrealistic. and not much is known about it.)

2024.05.17 15:35 Matthew-Nolan Grangemouth Lego Bricks

Grangemouth bricks are highly coveted pieces of LEGO history. Many collectors have heard the legends behind their production, but what’s the real back story?
To unravel this tale from half a century ago, first hand memories and documents from the 1960’s & 70’s have been combined to provide unprecedented insights below. These interviews included a former Grangemouth plant Physical and Colour Technician and a Shipping Clerk, as well as recollections from children of former employees that received bricks from the plant.
The story begins in 1961, when Anchor Chemicals in the UK formed a joint venture with Marbon Chemical of the USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Borg-Warner Corporation. It established the first major UK plant for the production of ABS (acrylonitrile, butadiene, styrene) polymers. This new plant was strategically located in Grangemouth, as butadiene and styrene were already available there. These thermoplastics were to be marketed as “Marbon Cycolac ABS” by Anchor, who were already Marbon's sole British distributor.
Two years and six million pounds later, the Grangemouth plant was completed by Constructers John Brown Ltd in 1963. Located on a 40 acre site fronting Bo'ness Road, it produced ABS polymers through emulsion polymerization for vacuum forming or moulding into domestic appliances, telephone handsets, automotive components, vacuum cleaner parts and much more.
The acrylonitrile, butadiene & styrene were piped in liquid form to the plant from the large British Petroleum (BP) Chemicals facility across the road, delivered through underground pipes below the intersecting road. The acrylonitrile was made by Border Chemicals, butadiene directly by BP Chemicals and styrene by Forth Chemicals. Border and Forth received their raw materials from BP and their facilities were co-located with BP Chemicals. Colour pigments were provided in powder form by Imperial Chemical Industries (I.C.I.).
The LEGO Group (TLG) made British company Courtauld’s Corp the UK Licensee for LEGO in 1960 under the name British LEGO Ltd. After two years of importing LEGO parts from Denmark, local LEGO part production in the UK commenced through a new factory in Wrexham, Wales. TLG had simultaneously switched to ABS plastic in 1963, and Marbon’s Grangemouth plant was selected as the ABS supplier to the new British LEGO factory located in Wrexham.
The Grangemouth ABS plant operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s primary roles in ABS production was to extract fire-retardant inhibitors from the three individual raw ingredients, mix and heat them to produce ABS pellets in any selected colour with added pigments. The plant’s main extruder used in production had mixing tanks, a large hopper for raw materials, and a screw mechanism at the base which pushed the molten mixture through a steel plate with holes in it. This produced long round strips of ABS, which were put through a dicer to cut them up into pellets. These pellets were put into 25kg bags and palatalised for shipment to Wrexham by truck.
The TLG quality requirements were very high, and above the standards or specifications of other customers. The colours in particular had to be perfect. It was clearly understood that if any batches were sent that didn’t meet TLG specifications when moulded out at Wrexham, they would be returned, which happened very rarely.
To assist with maintaining high standards of quality control, the plant owned an injection moulding machine. Situated in the Testing Lab, it was utilised by the Physical and Colour testing teams. Both teams operated on four shifts. Initially each team was comprised of four people each per shift, with this increasing to five people in the 1970’s as production levels rose. The Physical team used the moulder to test ABS flow rate for each batch, ensuring it filled all the mould cavities, as well as impact and tensile strength. The Colour team used eyesight to match ABS batches with colour swatches, as colour spectrophotometers weren’t in use at the time.
Starting in the 1960’s, TLG provided the Grangemouth plant with a sequence of 2x4 LEGO brick moulds for testing ABS in their injection moulding machine. From bricks subsequently found locally in the area, we know these included old production moulds, such as a twenty slot D mould and a 20 slot Y mould. Bricks from a four slot 8-11 mould have also been found, that mould was made from old parts but was specifically assembled for use in quality testing. More moulds may have been used during these early years at the plant. Around 1968 a final mould arrived, it was a four slot F mould, that was purpose built for quality testing.
LEGO test bricks were made by workers in the Testing Lab, and these were largely solid colours solely for ABS batch testing. Mixing of colours did sometimes occur between colour changes, resulting in small quantities of marbled bricks. To clear mould injectors of prior colours, natural ABS without pigment would be passed through. This produced another type of marbled bricks, with a unique cream colour mixed in. Bricks that failed physical and/or colour testing quality standards were called “Rejectable”.
Test bricks were supposed to be recycled, turning them back into pellets by chopping them up into small pieces, melting them down and putting them through the ABS extruder again. These pellets were not used by TLG, but instead sent to factories outside the UK, mostly in China. Some Testing Lab staff found these test bricks popular with their children, and at times took them home rather than recycling them.
Starting around Christmas 1970, Grangemouth plant Management decided to complement the seasonal gifts of whiskey and turkey to staff with something very unique. The whiskey was seen as being for the men, and turkey for their wives or female employees, but there was nothing for the employee’s children. So this year, they added a bag of LEGO bricks made at the plant as a present for each of the employee’s children.
Testing Lab staff were tasked with producing and bagging the Christmas bricks using the F mould. This first utilised waste pellets, which came from batches rejected for minor reasons and pellets from completed batches that were no longer needed for testing. These were then supplemented with production pellets as required to produce enough bags of bricks. For ease of production, large amounts of pellets were put into the injection moulder hopper irrespective of colour. It was set to automatic, continuously producing bricks until empty and creating the marbled bricks collected today. Most bricks made through this process were marbled as a result of the screw mechanism at the bottom of the hopper mixing pellets, but some single colour bricks were produced. Gifting of these bricks became an annual Christmas tradition. Staff without children didn’t receive a bag of these bricks.
It additionally became understood by employees at the plant that if they wanted some bricks for their kids, they could ask a member of the Physical and Colour Testing teams for some. The bricks given out this way were only the test bricks available at the time of request. Recipient staff didn’t get to choose colours, or to have them specifically made upon request. This was utilised sporadically by staff from management down and were typically only bricks of a single colour. Eventually TLG heard about the misuse of their mould, and staff were advised TLG weren’t happy.
TLG returned the production of bricks in-house in early 1979, ending their need for Grangemouth produced ABS. This decision was unrelated to misuse of the mould. With the Wrexham factory ceasing production, and Grangemouth ABS no longer needed, the F mould was returned to TLG from the Grangemouth plant in late 1978. The Christmas bricks for employee’s children were made for a final time in 1978.
The Grangemouth plant injection moulding machine remained at the plant and continued to be used for testing ABS until 2009 when the plant closed. It was primarily used to produce a 6cm x 1cm plate for impact and colour testing. This moulder is currently held by the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, having been donated by the plant’s final owner SABIC. The Grangemouth plant on Bo'ness Road was demolished in 2011.

A început campania electorală.
O altă temă a campaniei electorale o constituie dezvoltarea orașului.

2024.05.17 07:48 Infamous_Tomatillo53 Can SEO/Google Crawler find the underlying url when I use nextjs Link?

Is Nextjs `Link` SEO-friendly? Or how should I use it in a SEO friendly way?
I have a bunch of Links in my landing page, and each Link routes to a different page on my website, so it's like California New York
What I really hope for is that Google crawler can discover each of the pages i.e., www.mysite.com/california-hotels www.mysite.com/new-york-hotels I am just unsure if they will be discovered. I am sure if it's a tag, i.e., California it will be no problem because the url is spelled out.
Does the Google crawler have the ability to find the actual url when I use Link? Thank you
