Hello all,
I'm planning to purchase the AsRock Nova wifi and installing a gen 5 m.2 and a 4080.
It supports a gen5 m.2 but if one is installed, the top PCIe slot downgrades from x16 to x8.
Excerpt from the manual: PCIEI (PCle 5.0 x16 slot) is used for PCle xl6 lane width graphics cards. PCIE2 (PCle 4.0 xl6 slot) is used for PCIle x4 lane width graphics cards. PCIE3 (PCle 3.0 x1 slot) is used for PCle xl lane width cards. *If M2_1l is occupied, PCIE1 will downgrade to x8 mode.
Should I install the 4080 in the bottom slot or is it fine to run in x8 mode in the top slot?

| The Daggerheart Box. Satisfyingly heavy Tried to make it look like buckles Magnets! It's deliciously sturdy They just look so darn good! Reprinted all of these, much better colour gradients Magnets! Look, I went a bit nuts - again. So, I originally printed and cut out a bunch of card boxes akin to playing card packets. But, I didn't work out the right size for the GM box and then I made Hope/Fear cards and they were a little flimsy and the tabs wouldn't last being pulled in and out all the time.. so anyway, I reprinted them all on a much thicker (300gsm) card stock and replaced the tab slot with some magnets I had from an old job. They are incredibly satisfying, and much more sturdy. But then I faced the problem of needing a box for all these boxes! I was using a plastic box but it was too wide and short so some of them were stacked opposite each other and they could slide around... so anyway, I bought some black card, stuck it together to make it double thickness, and went to town on the magnets! The fit is very close, with the lid being ever so slightly too short so the narrow ends bulge slightly - I might redo it, but for now I'm happy. It's insanely satisfying to hold the box, it's got a decent heft to it and with the double layer and the matched minimal logos printed on it it feels very premium. Just don't look too closely at the poorly trimmed rounded buckles. Currently cutting out all the 1.4 cards, in time for my next in-person game. Background Played Dishonored 2 on my old PC until yesterday, had a grand old time. Got a new PC today, set it up, wanted to finish my playthrough, but no dice. New specs: i9 12900KF, RTX 4060 Ti, 2x16 GB RAM, Win 11
What's happening When launching Dishonored 2 through Steam, it goes to "Running" for 2-3 seconds and then reverts back to being turned off. The screen doesn't change throughout. The process briefly appears in Task Manager but closes within a second. Steam's "content_log.txt" shows the launch attempt but concludes with
AppID 403640 no longer tracking PID 12936, exit code -1073741819
Googling that exit code is not helpful.
What I've tried (unsuccessfully)
Reboot. Verified integrity of game files. Uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled the full game. Launched the .exe directly. Launched the .exe in Win7 + 8 compatibility mode. Launched Steam and the .exe as Admin. Disabled third party Anti Virus (only Win Defender running). Updated drivers. Updated DX12. Added "+windowed" launch option. Turned off Cloud Saves and deleted local save folder. Checked that some other games work (Baldur's Gate 3, Total War: Warhammer 3, Hades 1). Downloaded DotO. Same problem. Disabled XMP Profile for RAM in BIOS. Launched the game on the old PC. Works just fine.
Things that I've found other people had issues with but which I don't even have: A second monitor (It's still plugged into the old PC). An integrated graphics card.
Ref An AMD processor.
Ref The "dishonored2Config.cfg" file in the saves folder. The game would only create that during its first launch but doesn't even get that far.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

My HDMI cable is connected to my monitor and my graphics card, and I’ve installed all the drivers, all up to date. I’ve tried disabling integrated graphics but my games all continue to have horrible quality. What can I do?

Reinstalling Windows only made the matter worse because the symptoms included frequent blue screens, problems with driver installation and the "Aw snap" error. Applications such as Discord or Teams often closed without any message. Initially, I suspected a Windows problem, but subsequent reinstallations did not help. I started taking a closer look at the hardware and noticed that the graphics card interface connector looked like the picture. Could this be damage to the graphics card? 2024.05.18 23:12 krii-exx What to use to tighten SATA to PCI-E adapter?
I bought a pre-built PC less than a month ago and the graphics card (GTX 1650) uses a SATA to PCI-E adapter to power it. Some days ago the GPU stopped working and I noticed it was because the adapter is apparently loose and only works when tightened with force. I used a rubber band temporarily and it worked fine until yesterday and now the only way the GPU will work is if I squeeze the adapter myself. Initially it worked if I squeezed it vertically, that's why I used some rubber bands. But now it seems the only way is squeezing it horizontally (the flat side). What should I use to tighten it? Rubber bands don't seem to work anymore. Thanks.

| Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550M-A WiFi II MicroATX CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Now to start off this isn't a big serious problem, I'm just curious and slightly confused about this as it is my first time building a pc. My CPU doesn't have integrated graphics, so when I plug in my PC to a monitor and outlet and turn it on I'm definitely, 100% using my graphics card when looking at the BIOS, right? I find it really weird that besides that I cannot find any signs of my GPU anywhere on my BIOS.. There's no information on it on EzMode, and going into the advanced settings I see no graphics related settings, except "AMD Graphic Driver Health" which is empty. I can't even see the GPU temp in the advanced mode monitor tab. The GPU fans are spinning, everything is working as it should. I can't actually boot up windows as I'm still waiting for my m.2 SSD to arrive (decided to build the rest of the pc anyway) so I don't really know if it's going to be a problem when I can actually start using this thing. I just want to make sure nothing is wrong with the GPU before I plug in my SSD and expect everything to be working as it should. Will it still be fine when booting up windows? I'm not sure. EDIT: I suspect now that I might need to install drivers and then the GPU will show up in the BIOS? Just wanted to make sure on here though. 2024.05.18 23:04 prf_q Tried F1 23 game + ALVR: it's mediocre
I've been hoping to catch up on this ALVR hype and finally tried to get it working with F1'23 game on my PC with sim wheel. I stream it over on WiFi (dedicated 802.11ax router) w/ GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. I play it on lowest settings possible on both AVLR and the game.
It's borderline terrible but still somewhat playable. That said I still prefer not having any lag/jitter and just play the damn thing on the PC monitor.
Obviously racing games require low latency and have a lot of going on. But I think Apple really fucked us by not having a PC streaming link cable on this device. If they had something like that, we could definitely play a lot of games at high quality/no frame drops.
If someone else managed to find the settings to get this game playable at an enjoyable experience, I'm all ears. It seems ALVR community is not super into F1 or other games yet, so we don't get much love.

| After playing 90+ solo games in the last 4 months, sometimes I want just a touch extra from my Mage Knight run, but without altering the rules, pacing, difficulty, relative strengths and weaknesses, etc. After lots of thought and some trial and error, have settled on this scenario: -Full Solo Conquest standard gameplay rules -7 Rounds (start night or day, don't throw away tactics after first round) -8 countryside tiles -3 non-city core tiles -3 city tiles -City levels 5, 8, and lvl 10 megapolis (fairly equivalent to original difficulty, can be increased as desired) -Player levels 2 additional times: at 120 fame, adding another unit slot and gaining an extra armor point (5 total), and at 143 fame, gaining ANY one skill (own or dummy's) and one Advanced Action card Optional variant: Draconum Peak -Use the Draconum mountain non-city tile (with the peak in the center) in place of a city, with the following rules: -Acts as a city tile for all interactions -Except, requires 6 movement points (+4) to assault as it's city bonus - 2 Draconum for lvl 5 (first revealed), 3 for lvl 8, and 4 + 1 monster tile for lvl 10 Megapolis equivalent. -can't recruit but can purchase spells for 7 plus mana or artifacts for 12 (combined blue and the red city bonus) I think it balances really nicely - yes, you do become more powerful, but not immensely so as it's only one extra round (this photo is from a very unusual game, I've never gotten any where near that many AA cards before), but you have to deal with the chonkier final city. You have more ground to cover per round, but later in the game you have more ways of doing so. Fellow Mage Knights, I'd love to hear your feedback! If you have the perfect plate of cacio e pepe, you don't change the recipe. But... Just like the title says, although it’s a bit odd. Just finished my first ever build (kinda, Graphics Card is taking about 5 million years to get here), and after a few hiccups including installing my AIO fans in the wrong direction and forgetting to plug in the ATX power pins for the CPU (hehe, oops), I managed to get everything up and running. I installed Windows 11 Pro through USB, and now it likes to throw up boot errors any time the PC is powered down, hibernates, or sleeps. It’ll then throw a screen after about 30 seconds or so which says “The system failed to boot several times before. You may press F2 or DEL to reconfigure your system. Or UEFI will continue to boot after [X Amount of] seconds…”
System specs:

I’ve heard that DDR5 systems get fussy with all 4 RAM slots filled, and the DRAM light has stayed on and steady prior to booting, so it could possibly be that? Any tips or possible solutions are welcome, I’m just really at a loss. Thanks!

Since new rulebooks dropped, it was only a matter of time before I went with a magnifying glass over these! Since I previously covered these errors in my larger list a couple years ago (
Compilation of every erromistake/contradiction/etc., that I can find in the 'current' rulebooks. ), I will also compare and see what was fixed (
in strikethrough), what is still there, and what is new (
in bold). If there is an old error I missed the first time, there will be a * in front of it.
Base Game's 5-6 Player:
- Format error: At the bottom of page 4, is a heading titled "Starting settlements and resources". However this isn't discussed until the start of page 6. Heading needs to be moved closer to its topic.
*Image error: Page 2. You need to squint to see it, but Illustration B is showing THREE 12 Tokens! Gone/covered now - Image error:
Page 2 Page 4. You need to squint to see it, but the 2nd image STILL has Frame Extension pieces ('3-3' and '5-5') in the wrong spots. The extra 3:1 and 2:1 Wool ports are accidently swapped. Pretty egregious when the first image of Page 4 (showing the "Starting Set-Up for new 5-6 Players") has the Frame Extensions in the correct spots. Just a copy-past job from the previous version.
5-6 Seafarers
- *Format error:
Page 3: Just before the Wonder Cards is the heading titled "Scenarios". However this isn't discussed until the start of the next page, 4. Heading needs to be move to the top of the next page. - Format error: The images for the Wonder Cards were shifted up on page 3. However, the big blue box on page 4 was NOT shifted up. So the top edges of the Wonder Cards are now aligned with the text "The scenario diagram provides the board set-up". So if you take a scissor and cut out these cards (as intended), you will cut this sentence in half, along the horizontal.
- *Format error:
Page 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20, 22: "Terrain & Tokens" at the is not bolded. It now is Bolded. Missing Robber: Why is there no Robber on the maps for Scenarios 2, 3, 4, and 8? All fixed! They even added the Pirate for Scenario 1 (which I missed 3 years ago). They also have the Robber on a 12-Hills now. Interesting change? Or new error?
For Scenario 2, regular Seafarers says to put the Robber on the 12 Token. However, in the extension, there are two to choose from (12-Fields and 12-Pasture). Which one? Apparently, the 2-Pasture hex For Scenario 3, regular Seafarers says to put the Robber on the 12 Token. However, in the extension, the Desert is reintroduced. So should the Robber go there instead? Or 12-Mountain/12-Hills hex? Robber is on the Desert. For Scenario 4 and 8, I suppose it doesn't matter which Desert the Robber starts on. Just odd there is no marker here, but there IS a Robber marked for Scenario 5. Inconsistent.
Image error: Page 11 (Fog Islands map). The 3-Mountain hex looks weird. The mountains is misaligned with the hex, the internal image is rotated 30 degrees (I think) Twisted back into place! - Image error: Page 13 (Through the Desert map). The instructions on page 12 indicate 11 Harbors are used, but the map only shows 10. Looking at the 4th Edition map, and Catan Universe's version today, the Harbor by the 12-Pasture somehow got dropped.
Image error: Page 13 (Through the Desert map). The 'foreign area' are missing red outlines, like the 3-4 player version has. More liberties will need to be taken by the players, if they want to make a variable map. *Format error: Page 16: Harbors at the top isn't bolded. - Incorrect component count or Image error: Page 16 or 17 (Cloth for Catan). The first page says there are 11 Harbors (like many other scenarios). However, the map on the other page shows 12 Harbors. A new harbor was added by the 8-Wheat hex, onto the lower-right frame. I am unsure which page is incorrect, since previous Editions didn't have a harbor there, but the current Extension includes an extra 2:1 Wool (as normal), and a 6th 3:1 port (for a total of 12 Harbors in Seafarers).
*Typo: Page 18: The # 26, for describing how many Sea hexes, accidently has a bunch of dots in between 2 and 6 - Image Error: A Robber is erroneously added to the middle desert island. THERE IS NO ROBBER FOR THIS SCENARIO.
- Incorrect component count: Page 22. The count for the # tokens are off for multiple reasons:
- Adding up all the tokens equals 40, when the total below says 39. Since there will be 39 resource producing hexes, there is an extra # token in the count above.
- However, the Base Game's 5-6 extension only has 28 tokens, while Seafarers adds 10 more (total 38). This implies a # token should be taken from the Base Game, so the rulebook should make that clear
- Related to that, it says there should be 5 copies of the 5-9 tokens. This is impossible, since Base 5-6 + SF should have 3 copies of 2 and 12, 4 of everything else. Again, implying more tokens from the Base Game need to be taken, but it never states this.
5-6 Cities & Knights: No mistakes! It is STILL clean!!!
5-6 Traders & Barbarians
- Image errors?: Page 3+4. The frame setup is completely different than normal. The frame extension pieces are also in different positions. Instead of the usual setup (from the top, clockwise):
- '6-1'>'1-2'>'2-2'>'2-3'>'3-3'>'3-4'>'4-5'>'5-5'>'5-6'>'6-6'>; page 3 instead displays (from top-left, clockwise):
- '6-1'>'2-2'>'1-2'>'3-3'>'3-4'>'2-3'>'6-6'>'4-5'>'5-5'>'5-6'>. If this is supposed to be intentional, the rulebook should either state this (or be more specific), or make the image bigger, since I had to squint to see the different layout.
- Also, if the different frame setup is intentional, why not show T&B's version of the '5-6' frame piece (with the missing coast)?
Formatting error: Top of Page 4. The line for the 'Additional Components' looks... off. Not lined up with the rest of the text below. - Component List mistake: Page 5, the Castle Hex is incorrectly labeled as a Oasis hex!
- Image error?: Page 5+6. While the frame mostly follows the 'new' layout in pages 3+4, there is now a 2nd '4-5' frame, replacing the '2-3' frame in the bottom-right corner. While technically possible, since T&B does have its own version of '4-5' (with missing coastline), the image does not reflect the artwork, copying the base game's '4-5' piece twice. Again, the rulebook make no written mention of the new frame order.
- Image error?:
Page 9 Page 10: While the rulebook finally gives some instruction regarding the frame, curious why the image doesn't show T&B's version of the '5-6' frame piece (with the missing coast)? - Image errocontradiction:
Page 10 Page 9. The instructions say the regular Quarry and Glassworks hexes may not have Settlements built on the corners that only border the frame (ocean), only the 4 intersections that border other hexes (the new Quarry and Glassworks from T&B's extension don't have this restriction). However, the image is showing possible Settlement locations on all 6 corners, for both the new and old trade hexes. Either the image is mistaken, or the instructions are. - Contradiction/Inconsistency: Page 9 states that Player 2 may NOT use Gold Coins to purchases resources. This is in contrast with previous scenarios, which state you can. In addition, later in the rulebook, where the various Player 1/Player 2 actions are summarized, Page 12 says Player 2 CAN use Gold Coins to buy resources!
- Component List mistake:
Page 11 Page 10, Card Deck Manifest. The total count for the 5th scenario's Development cards should say 12, not 26; and the total count for the Baggage Train cards should say 10, NOT 21. These incorrect totals are copied from regular T&B.
5-6 Explorers & Pirates
- *Image error: The image showing the "Catan 5-6 Player Extension Pieces" sorting tile is showing resource cards with 4th Edition graphics! (I doubt the real Sorting Tile has this error. I hope not)
Missing words?: Page 2,3,4,5. The second sentence of each page says "The two hexes in the illustration marked 'Green Back' and 'Orange Back' must be taken...". Shouldn't it instead say "The two sets of hexes..."? It does now :) - Component List mistake: Page 2. The hexes shown for the Orange Sun side are accidently copied over from the Green Moon side. To further explain:
- The terrain hexes from regular E&P should show 2 Fields hexes, and 1 of everything else. Instead its showing 2 Mountain hexes (which is only correct for the Green Moon side)
- The terrain hexes from E&P's extension should be Mountain-Pasture-Hills. Instead its showing Mountain-Forest-Fields (again, only correct for the Green Moon side)
- Missing rule?: Page 6. The Paired Players summary chart doesn't mention using Gold Coins to buy resources, for neither Player 1 or 2. I suppose you can infer both can use Gold Coins, I only bring this up since T&B bothers to mention Gold Coins.
So to summarize:
- Base Game Extension: Originally 2 errors, 1 was fixed, 1 was added
- Seafarers Extensions: Originally 12 errors. 9 were fixed, 2 were added
- C&K Extension: Never had errors, none were added :)
- T&B Extension: Originally 9 errors. 1 was fixed, and 1 was added >:(
- E&P Extension: Originally 3 errors. 1 was fixed, 1 was added.
In the end, I'm a little disappointed. The only extension rulebook that saw any real improvement was SF. I wasn't planning on buying any Extensions until the rules were updated with the new Paired Players system. But... maybe I'll just have to wait for the 6th Edition, in 2030. :(
I shouldn't be so hard on them, as I missed several errors myself the first time around. Even some of my own errors in my original list (fixed now). But I'm just some bored shmuck doing this in my free time. I'd expect more from a corporation.
