Starting coding office hours - please reach out for any SWE issues!

2024.05.31 14:04 Busy_Owl_2620 Starting coding office hours - please reach out for any SWE issues!

Hey everyone,
Recently, I was helping a friend, who had just finished a bootcamp, by coding a small React project together on a Zoom call. She found it really helpful to pair program live, and it made me realize that there might be others who could benefit from this kind of support too.
A few of my friends, who are also experienced software engineers, and I have been in similar situations ourselves (and still are when we’re learning something new). It kind of made us miss college, where you could just go to office hours and have a TA or professor help you out.
So, as an experiment, we’ve registered codingofficehours@gmail.com. If you’re stuck on any kind of software engineering problem, feel free to email us and we’ll try to help! Across the group, we’ve got a fairly diverse set of experiences - web dev, AWS, various backend stacks, some hardware, firmware, desktop. If we think we can unblock you, we’ll send you a calendly link and grab time for a zoom call.
Please share this with others who might find it useful. Good luck!

2024.05.29 16:26 DocKnocker Fixed Up a Free Sony PS LX-510

Fixed Up a Free Sony PS LX-510
My first post in this sub. I wanted to share this in case anyone else is looking up tips on fixing one as I had a hard time finding info myself. Apologize for the long post but I like to be thorough.
My friend is moving and gifted me his father’s old turntable. It looked pretty rough, with a dust cover completely snapped in half and missing a hinge, and it had all these scuffs and scratches. He suspected it need a new tone arm drive belt, but didn’t know much else about it. I took it home since I was looking for a vintage unit and I love vintage Japanese tech. It turned on, lit up, and the platter turned so that was a good start, but no sound came from the stylus and the tone arm wouldn’t move. So I cracked it open to take a look.
Inside, there is a small motor attached via a tiny belt to a gear. That belt was stretched out so I ordered a replacement. That gear attaches to a wheel that had a string loosely attached to it. That string then went into the “guts” of the turntable behind the tone arm assembly, but I noticed some other wheels around which the string may wrap. I then found this online manual, https://archive.org/details/manual_PSLX510_SM_SONY/page/3/mode/1up and restrung the string. The string and wheel translate the motor movement to move the tone arm. Once everything was in place the arm moved, but reluctantly. Some dielectric grease got things moving more smoothly.
The big issue was getting the arm to drop. There’s a magnetic counter-weight in the tone arm assembly that, when it drops, it releases the tone arm which should then also drop. That didn’t happen for me, and I spent weeks trying to figure it out. I could found no vids or pics to help, but then I figured out it was missing the stylus cartridge! I ordered a P-style cartridge (and a pre-amp), and the weight from the cartridge is what drops the arm. I hooked everything up and it sounds great! I’m super happy with it and it is now my primary turntable.
How it work: When the stylus is in contact with a record, it moves inward (left) while the assembly is stationary. At the other end of the stylus arm is a metal plate that rests between and light and a sensor. As the arm moves left, the metal plate at the other end moves right and blocks the sensor. When the light is blocked, it triggers the motor to turn, which drives the wheel and string, which then moves the tone arm assembly a few millimeters. This moves the tone arm to the right, which then unblocks the light sensor, which triggers the motor to stop turning. This process repeats to the end of the record. Then, another sensor determines the record has ended, and the assembly returns to the original position and stops the platter from turning. There are manual controls for lifting/dropping the tone arm and moving the assembly.
There is also a sensor beneath the platter then detects the size of the vinyl (e.g. LP vs 45”). This tells where the tone arm should drop for the respective sizes. However, it does not like any transparency in a vinyl and will not auto play those. But, you can move the rubber mat to block the sensor and it will default to an LP size.
Impressions: I was very impressed with how sturdy the components are. The metals and plastics are all super thick and strong. But this thing was made in Japan in the 70’s so I guess that’s how they did things. Also, it seems over-engineered to the point of absurdity. I’m not sure what problem this was trying to solve, but that’s what I love about it. Nearly 50 years old and I’ve never seen anything like it. And I love bringing old things back to life.

2024.05.29 09:22 HutchSwillCo Miele middle spray arm not spraying/spinning (no, it's not clogged)

Miele G1600 SCU
noticed dishes on the top (cutlery) and middle (glassware) racks not getting cleaned after repeated washes.
I've checked ALL the spray arms - top, middle and lower - all are completely free of any debris
The filter in the sump is clean and clear.
Top and bottom arms rotate and spray - I can hear their spray rotating against the door, and see them spinning if I interrupt the cycle by opening the door. I can see that the middle arm doesn't spin at all. It's always in the same place. I can see it shudder slightly from a water pressure change when I open the door but that's it.
Does any one know the plumbing of this or have a service manual? I'd like some background before I pull this apart. I am an experienced repairer of everything from car engine overhauls to micro soldering cellphone PCBs, including many years repairing ancient fisher and paykel dishwashers.
The middle arm is fed by a supply pipe at the rear that runs out of the back of the RH wall. This is all clear and unblocked as far as I can tell. The top spray arm seems to have its own supply plumbing concealed in the washer enclosure.
My guess is the pump outlet split off to each of the spray arm feeds is somehow blocked for the middle arm. Either that or there's not enough water pressure ie the pump is faulty. Nothing else indicates this is the case though - plenty of water pressure in the other two arms.
Appreciate links or advice for Miele specific plumbing or service manual information.
Update/Solution: Blow out the pipes: 1. Remove all the spray arms and baskets so that the rear supply pipe has no arm attached. 2. Run a cycle for a few minutes (quick cycle works).
Hopefully a large flow of water comes out of the middle spray arm pipe and hits the door of the dishwasher. This allows a large pressure differential to form across the blockage and helps blow out debris in the plumbing that wouldn’t happen with the spray arm attached. In my case I suspect it was an edamame bean husk that I found in the water afterwards. Hope that helps someone.

What Is a VPN?

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service that creates a secure, encrypted connection over the internet. It allows users to protect their online privacy and data by masking their IP address and routing their internet traffic through a remote server. This helps to safeguard sensitive information, prevent eavesdropping, and access content that may be restricted based on geographic location.

How VPNs Safeguard Your Privacy and What Are Their Limitations?

Using a VPN on personal and business devices helps protect your privacy by encrypting your data and keeping your online identity and transmitted data secure. However, VPNs do not protect against malware or phishing scams. They secure active online data transmissions but do not safeguard data stored on your device, so it's essential to use antivirus and anti-malware software and exercise caution with suspicious links and emails for complete protection.

Bottom Line

In conclusion, choosing the best VPN service ensures enhanced online privacy, robust security, and unrestricted access to global content. For businesses or personal use, integrating top-tier VPN solutions with platforms like Salesforce can safeguard sensitive customer data and streamline secure operations.
Seriously, all these diff posts on diff subs telling you about the best VPNs are getting out of hand. And I’m feeling like it’s all over the place right now. I’ve come across so many different opinions on this topic so far and I came to a point where I didn’t know what to believe and what not to believe.

2024.05.29 06:22 SilentWanderer02 Microsoft Teams Calling in and out blocked with "We couldn't complete the call. Please contact your admin." I am the admin, and support isn't helping.

Microsoft Teams Calling in and out blocked with
On a relatively new (3 weeks old) tenant, set up cleanly, with paid subscriptions and proper, correct licensing for Teams Calling, PSTN calling has been working fine since implementation.
But last night I received multiple emails stating "Skype for Business all users blocked for PSTN calling - We have detected what may be fraudulent calling activity for one or more of your Skype for Business users. In order to prevent financial risk to you and your business we have disabled calling and/or conferencing services for all users:"
I got an email for each user, AND an email stating that ALL users were blocked.
https://preview.redd.it/l0qvnjzgka3d1.jpg?width=1119&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=773bd4bb33f4117f36792e6aab67b2be7a07e766
This is a brand new tenant in Teams-only mode, SkypeForBusiness doesn't even show up in the tenant. There is no "Reports->Skype for Business->ANYTHING" option in the M365 Admin Center.
Entra Admin Center shows NO logins or unknown activity for any of the users (all of which are protected with 2FA and authenticators). The Teams Admin Center Usage Report shows only two calls made in the past 24 hours - both were test calls from me to my cell testing out call forwarding. The Teams Admin Center Blocked Users Report is broken and crashing.
I tried to test with the self-help diagnostics. Interestingly, the diagnostic fails saying there is no number assigned to the user:
https://preview.redd.it/eaugytluka3d1.jpg?width=621&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca7d2a2996500df418baa0ed295119d645f1bb1e
Except that there is. In the assigned numbers screen, everything shows up properly and correctly.
The emails state: "If you determine the call(s) were not fraudulent, please: Contact Microsoft Support. A customer support agent will assist you in unblocking the user’s calling and/or conferencing capabilities."
The problem is that the support engineers I'm getting are on the other side of the planet, with an accent very different than mine. They can barely understand me and I can barely hear them. Worse: they kept attempting to debug using Get-CsUser - which is a fully-deprecated and no-longer-working cmdlet, and then basically gave up, saying they would "escalate it to their back office."
I've had no updates since.
Does anyone know why this happened or how to fix it? No fraudulent logins, no compromised accounts, no strange calls, no nothing... and yet the entire tenant is blocked? I've gone through most of the PowerShell cmdlets I can think of, compared them against a working tenant, and they're all identical - yet both incoming and outgoing PSTN calling remains blocked.
Can anyone help me either fix this, or teach me how to get past the front-line support at Microsoft to someone who knows how to unblock this?
My users are already looking at Google Voice... ugh...

2024.05.28 17:08 Total_Assistance_682 My take on Adapt Combo

Decklist: https://archidekt.com/decks/6040070
As a Moggwarts fan, the new [[Basking Broodscale]] + [[Sadistic Glee]] combo got me excited to brew. Here is my take on a slower but more recursion-based list:
Combo Pieces
4 [[Basking Broodscale]] + 4 [[Sadistic Glee]]
Engine
3 [[Village Rites]] + 3 [[Corrupted Conviction]] - Super necessary for the deck, bringing draw power to the combo-centric list and turning all our low impact 1 cost creatures into steam.
4 [[Snarling Gorehound]] - All our creatures trigger it's ability, correcting our draws and filling our graveyard. Can also be a finisher late game if you drop +1/+1 counters on it. Also, you can always sacrifice it to draw 2.
4 [[Rubblebelt Maverick]] - The card does everything we want: correct our draws, fills our graveyard, can chump and, most importantly, brings value with the +1/+1 counter shennanigans. Also, you can always sacrifice it to draw 2.
4 [[Slitherhead]] - A kinda worse Maverick. The 0 cost to trigger Maverick and Broodscale can be really useful sometimes, tho. Also, you can always sacrifice it to draw 2.
Recursion
4 [[Evolution Witness]] - The glue of the deck. It sinergizes amazingly with Maverick and Slitherhead and opens the possibility of a more grave-centric strategy. You can use it to bring back any piece of the combo, making it way more consistent. Just stall a few turns and you'll eventually combo off with this card in play.
4 [[Unearth]] - Perfect match for the list. If you cant unearth to combo off ASAP, always bring back Witness, our MVP.
2 [[Forced Adaption]] - Magic christmas land card, so just 2 off, but it can be amazing when it hits a Witness on one of that grindy matches. Just leave it in the graveyard and use it when you see a opening.
Payoffs
4 [[Deathgreeter]] - The hardest part of the deck was finding a decent payoff. A lot of cards came to mind, but Deathgreeter seemed the best one. Infinite life its not always game-winning, and is really click intensive on MTGO. But I simply didn't found another better option at 1 CMC. Besides that, for me, the value of the card lays in its usefullness outside the combo turns. With all the chump and sac while stalling for the combo, you can easly gain 3-5 life a game, wich is relevant in this aggressive meta. Also, you can always sacrifice it to draw 2.
4 [Escape Tunnel]] - The card corrects our colors but, most importantly, makes our Broodscale unblockable before infinite damage on combo turns. The fact that you can get it back with Witness made even more appealing.

2024.05.25 20:58 jbhughes54enwiler Wings of Fire Fanfic: Heart of Jade Mountain- Book Two Part 9

Author's Note: Traveler's Song is loosely set to the melody of the Christmas carol In The Bleak Midwinter.
Book Two: The Academy- Part 9
When Buck and his friends reached the Emerald Winglet lobby, he found Lily sitting at the desk, and Sala and Butterfly were both lounging around on the couch. Buck tried to remember what he wanted to tell Lily, but he could not entirely remember. Meanwhile, Bailey and Badger had rushed into the boy’s dorm, so Buck decided to join Patience in following them.
The dorm was different from how he remembered it. Now that it was occupied, there were signs of life in the room, such as messy, unmade covers on the beds and loose clothing spread around in areas surrounding some of the beds. Buck approached the window at the end of the room and looked out. The same view as before awaited him, Haven in the distance was a jewel in the middle of the grasslands, and the huge dragon castle was even further away.
He looked closer and noticed a tiny dot at the foot of the mountains, somewhat closer to him than Haven, and Buck realized he was seeing the entrance to the tunnel and its attached guard house. He remembered the night he went through the tunnel after narrowly escaping the Scourge. He shivered uncomfortably remembering what he and Elm and had done to the bandits, and he hoped that somehow the remaining bandits had been spared from execution. He also remembered Birch, and hoped that he was safe on his travels around Pyrrhia.
“Hey, Buck!” Badger had called to him from behind. Buck turned to see the boy gesturing to one of the beds. “You can have this bed. It’s the only free bed in here.”
Buck approached the bed Badger pointed to. It seemed he would be getting the bottom bunk.
“I took the top bunk because I’m smaller than you,” Badger explained, “Hopefully that’s okay with you.”
Buck nodded. “I guess that’s fine.” He sat down on the bed, and was surprised with how soft it was. He laid back onto the pillow and sighed. “This is pretty nice.”
Suddenly, the room was plunged into near darkness, causing both Buck and Badger to cry out. “W-what’s going on?” Badger stammered. Buck stood from his bed and noticed that the glass globes on the wall which had been glowing before had lost their light. Lily dashed into the room, seeming relieved when she saw them.
“Alright, you four stay in here for now.”
“What’s going on?” Patience asked her.
“The lights in the Academy are powered by a machine called a hydroelectric generator. It’s technology we got from the Academy of Humanities and Sciences in Haven. They must have had a problem with it downstairs.”
“So we’re just going to be in the dark now?” Badger shook, apparently he hadn’t grown out of his fear of the dark yet.
“At least for now. This room still has daylight coming in so you’ll be fine in here until the lights are fixed.”
“We’ll be okay,” Buck assured Badger as Lily left, “You’ve got us here.”
Though suddenly things were not okay. What started as a small rumbling grew rapidly into a full-on earthquake, and Buck and the others, unsure what do do, ran under the beds for cover, as the entire Academy shook violently, causing Badger and Buck to scream in fear. The beds were all rattling, and various pieces of clothing fell off of some of the beds.
After what felt like an eternity, the shaking subsided, and thankfully none of the beds were toppled. Lily again rushed into the room. “Are you kids okay?”
Buck and the others nodded, though Buck couldn’t stop shivering. “Is anything worse about to happen?” he cried towards Lily.
“How did that even happen?” Patience asked her.
“We don’t know,” Lily said, grimacing. “The dragons say that Jade Mountain didn’t usually have earthquakes when they first started using it for the Academy. The tremors only started about six months ago.”
“Is Jade Mountain secretly a volcano or something?” Patience shook, “Because if this whole place is about to erupt—”
“Jade Mountain is definitely not a volcano,” Lily stated, “We did a full geological survey of the mountain during the construction of the human facilities. There’s no magma anywhere in this mountain. And we’re not near any fault lines either. Whatever is causing these tremors is a complete mystery.”
“Well that’s kind of ominous,” Bailey whispered.
“I wonder how the dragons are doing?” Badger asked, “Are they all in the dark right now?”
“Some of them may be, but they’re smart enough to stay in one place, and NightWings and SeaWings have excellent night vision. But with the next class approaching, hopefully they fix the generator soon.”
“Can you stay with us?” Badger glumly asked Lily, “I’m scared of the dark…”
“Of course, Badger. Let me go get the other kids from the lounge though.”
She did not end up needing to do that, as Butterfly and Sala both ran to the dorm.
“The whole mountain was shaking!” Butterfly shouted.
“Yes, it was,” Lily told him. “Stay in here for now, until they get the lights fixed.”
“No kidding,” Sala said as he sat on one of the beds, “It was so dark out there I couldn’t see anything except the doors to the bedrooms!”
“How many times has this happened?” Patience asked Lily.
“The generator is, well, experimental. It has failed before, but only twice before now, twice in a whole year. And this is the first time both a power failure and a tremor occurred together.”
“Did the tremor cause the lights to go out?” Buck asked no one in particular.
“The lights went out before the earthquake happened,” Sala said, “So maybe not.”
“How long does it usually take to fix the lights?” Butterfly asked.
“Usually only a few minutes,” Lily answered, “There’s a full-time team of engineers monitoring the generator so as soon as anything goes wrong they’d get to work fixing it.”
Just as she guessed, the lights then flickered back on. Badger gasped with relief, and Buck stood out of his bed. Right at that moment, they could hear the gong ring from the Great Hall.
“Looks like it’s time for your next class,” Lily said, “Better get on down there.”
“But what if the lights go out again?” Badger was shivering, “I don’t wanna be in the dark anymore.”
Wow, Buck thought, It’s like he loses years off his childhood whenever it gets too dark. He did not dare voice that aloud with Lily present.
“Like I said,” Lily told Badger, “The generator doesn’t break down very much. You’ll be safe out there. Also, the original parts of the Academy don’t even get that dark, since there’s skylights in the ceilings out there.”
“A-alright,” Badger said shakily, and he stood with the others.
“Okay,” Patience said confidently, hoping to stoke up the other students, “Let’s go take on our next class!”
In their next classroom, the talk among both the humans and dragons was the lights and the tremor that had just happened.
“I thought the whole mountain was going to cave in on us!” Holly dramatically shouted to Daisy next to her.
“It’s times like these when I wish I had a way of flying away at a moment’s notice,” he heard a SkyWing tell his friend, “I hate being indoors!”
“Everyone, please,” a NightWing at the top of the room told the students, “Please calm down.” The class, thankfully, obeyed.
A human woman at her feet cleared her throat. “In light of the recent incident with the lights and the earthquake, Sunny has asked me to reassure the class that the human engineers are working tirelessly to ensure the failure that happened minutes ago does not happen again. The electric lights fitted in the Academy are a gesture of humanity’s kindness towards dragons but are a very new technology, so they are prone to occasionally breaking down.”
“With that being said,” the NightWing continued, “I am Moonwatcher, and my human companion is named Cranberry. We are here to teach you art and music, but Cranberry thought we might split the class today among both topics. The dragons today will be drawing, and the humans will be taught a song by Cranberry.”
“Okay, kids, come to me!” Cranberry ordered, and the humans stood from their desks and approached the stage at the front of the room, where a semicircular row of stands had been placed. Buck took one of them and found that a piece of paper had been placed on it with what looked like words to a song.
“I thought I’d test out your voices with an easy, short song. These music sheets don’t have the melody printed on them, so just follow along with me as I sing it.”
As the humans variously stared at the lyrics or scratched their heads, Buck snuck a glance at the dragons. As he did, Moonwatcher gave the dragons their instructions. “Just as the humans are going to be testing their singing voices, I’d like to test your ability to draw. There is a piece of paper and pencil at your desk. I’d like you to draw something, really, the first thing that comes into your head. Begin now, please.”
“Right, humans,” Cranberry said, “Repeat after me, this is the first bar of the song.”
O’er the evening su-un, As the light does fade, I set my tentpoles in the ground, The comfort of the earth.
“Okay,” Cranberry finished, “You kids try now.”
Buck tried to sing along with the other students, though while he could match the notes well, he was finding it very difficult to sing in time with his classmates, and it seemed the other students were also struggling, with Holly in particular being out of key.
“Good first try. Really wasn’t expecting you all to nail harmony on your first try but we have all year to improve. Let’s continue.”
The sca-ly beasts above, Fly tow-wards their home, And I lie in peace, Down below, Curled into my bag.
Buck noticed some of the dragons give Cranberry odd looks at the first line, of course being referred to as “scaly beasts” might hit a sour note with them. Nonetheless, Buck sang, trying to synchronize himself better with the others.
“Very good,” Cranberry said. “This song of course was written before we made peace with the dragons, so the lyrics are a little dated, my apologies for that. Now for the final bar of this verse.”
The Moons above shine brightly, O’er the for-est green, And bathe my body in safety, In shelter from the cold.
Buck could still easily hit the high note at the beginning due to his youth, though he heard Patience’s voice break trying to achieve it.
Cranberry clapped once with a beaming smile on her face. “Great job! That last bar’s high note can be challenging, but soon you’ll all be crushing songs like this. This song is called Traveler’s Song, and it’s an old hymn sung by travelers as a prayer for safety. It does go on for more verses, but I left them out for brevity’s sake and since, well, they get a bit more antagonistic of dragons.”
Buck could abruptly hear Bailey gasp, and he looked over to her to see she was staring blankly at the dragon section of the classroom. Buck followed her gaze and saw the MudWing who had bullied him earlier… holding up his drawing to the humans. It was a crude sketch of a human boy, but with mouse ears poking out of his hair and a long, wiry tail. Worse yet, he could see a Dragon phrase written below, and unfortunately it was made up of words he remembered from his language class an hour ago.
Hi there, squeaky.
Buck’s blood boiled, and some of the other kids murmured nervously as they noticed it. Finally, Cranberry saw the drawing as well, and her expression darkened as she approached Moonwatcher.
“Bulrush,” Moonwatcher said in a low voice, “Care to explain what it is you drew there?”
Now the other dragons saw his drawing, and to Buck’s disappointment, he saw several of them barely restrain chuckles.
“Please put that down,” Moonwatcher sighed exasperatedly, “I will be discussing this with the headmistress.”
Bulrush complied, smirking the entire time. The class continued, with the humans practicing singing Traveler’s Song, but after the incident with Bulrush the students struggled to concentrate on their singing, often becoming more consistently off-key. Moonwatcher had collected Bulrush’s drawing, presumably to show either Sunny or Tsunami, and he had been asked to leave the class. The damage, however, had been done.
When the class finally ended, Moonwatcher turned to the humans as the dragons left. “I am so sorry about Bulrush’s behavior. To think, if I had my mind-reading capabilities unblocked I could have noticed sooner…”
“It’s fine, Moon,” Cranberry reassured.
“Uhh, don’t we get a say in this?” Holly hollered over Cranberry, “What exactly is going to be done about him?”
“We have a discipline system in place for dragons who violate the Academy’s rules,” Cranberry explained, “He will get a very stern talking-to from Tsunami, and if he keeps up with his behavior, he will either be suspended or expelled.”
“Why not just kick him out now?” Holly asked angrily.
“Like I said, Holly, we have a process. It’s important that he be given an opportunity to change his behavior.”
The gong rang then, and Holly sulked the whole way out of the classroom. Buck meanwhile stayed close to Bailey as the kids left.

Deck Deep Dive: Dissecting My Top Slay the Spire Builds
Disclaimer: I’m relatively new to Slay the Spire, currently on Ascension Level 5 with each character. However, I wanted to share a compilation of my earlier games (Ascension Levels 3-4). These aren't jaw-dropping performances, but they're plays I'm truly proud of and had a blast achieving! :)
I’ve excluded the Watcher because my decks felt too chaotic (the Watcher can be quite the wild card, and I still don't know if I love or hate this character). So this post will only cover Ironclad, Silent, and Defect.
Ironclad Deck
https://preview.redd.it/rpam0ewtjd2d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4876149d5af8a6a8af48f4c60417ce0c07ea19b
  1. Block and Barricade: Barricade+ allows your block to carry over between turns, which is critical for building a formidable defense. You can use Shrug It Off, Ghostly Armor, and Flame Barrier to accumulate block. This is especially potent because you can build up a huge amount of block without losing it at the end of your turn.
  2. Corruption and Skills: Corruption+ makes all Skills cost zero energy at the cost of exhausting them when used. This is incredibly synergistic with Barricade+, as you can use multiple block skills in one turn without worrying about energy costs. This can allow you to set up an impenetrable defense quickly. Be mindful, though, as skills will exhaust, so timing and strategic use of Corruption are important.
  3. Attack Synergies: Cards like Rampage, which increases its damage every time it's played during a combat, can become deadly over long fights. Headbutt can be used to put important cards like Rampage back on top of your draw pile, ensuring you can use them frequently. Dropkick becomes free and can be a recurring card if the enemy is Vulnerable, which synergizes well with Bash.
  4. Energy and Card Draw Management: Battle Trance is a fantastic draw engine that allows you to dig deeper into your deck to find the cards you need quickly. Remember, while Battle Trance prevents further drawing, it pairs well with zero-cost skills from Corruption. Pommel Strike+ also offers both damage and card draw, keeping your options open.
  5. Enhanced Attacks: Inflame+ and Metallicize+ are excellent power-ups. Inflame+ boosts your strength, enhancing the damage of all attacks, while Metallicize+ adds passive block at the end of your turn, further leveraging your defensive strategy with Barricade+.
  6. Use of Relics: If you have relics that synergize with either drawing cards, generating energy, or improving block and attack strategies, these can significantly enhance your game. Relics that allow you to retain cards or manipulate your draw pile can be especially useful to ensure you always have the right card when you need it.
My strategy was to quickly establish a high amount of block while gradually building up attack power through strength and repeated hits. Use zero-cost skills to their maximum effect once Corruption is played, and always be on the lookout to maintain a balance between attacking and defending as your skills will be exhausted after use. This approach can make the Ironclad nearly untouchable in prolonged fights.
Silent Deck
https://preview.redd.it/iqm41b3ckd2d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=91fe0dd7299d119467b8e6412d40a2d344f152bc
  1. Poison Synergy: Cards like Envenom+, Deadly Poison, Catalyst, and Crippling Cloud can create a potent poison stack on your enemies. Envenom+ adds poison every time you deal unblocked attack damage, synergizing well with multi-hit and fast attack cards. Catalyst can then be used to multiply these poison stacks, rapidly increasing the damage per turn.
  2. Shiv Play: You have several cards that generate shivs, like Blade Dance+ and Infinite Blades+. Shivs are zero-cost attack cards that benefit greatly from Envenom+. With the Accuracy+ card, the damage of shivs is significantly increased, making this combo very lethal.
  3. Defense and Utility: You have a fair amount of defensive and utility cards like Dodge and Roll, Leg Sweep+, and Piercing Wail. These can help mitigate incoming damage while you build up your poison stacks or deal direct damage with shivs. Footwork+ enhances your Dexterity, further boosting the effectiveness of your block cards.
  4. Relics: Your relics can complement your strategy. For example, if you have relics that reduce the cost of cards or allow you to draw more cards, you can play more shivs or poison cards in a single turn. Relics that deal damage when you play a card or when an enemy dies can also augment your damage output.
  5. Combo Potential: Use Adrenaline for an extra burst of energy and card draw, helping you play more cards in a crucial turn. Calculated Gamble can be used for cycling through your deck faster to get to your key cards more quickly, especially useful if you need to find Catalyst or a crucial defensive card promptly.
This combination of cards and relics suggests a play style that balances between aggressively applying poison and quickly dishing out attacks with shivs, while maintaining a good defense. The strategy is to control the pace of the battle, steadily weakening enemies with poison while blocking or reducing their attacks, and finishing them off with amplified shiv attacks.
Defect Deck
https://preview.redd.it/ggodg67hkd2d1.png?width=1903&format=png&auto=webp&s=6ab7b59a3797df03e3fb086e3fc5ec00d4f4eab5
Defect Deck
  1. Power Card Synergies: Echo Form+ is a standout card here. The first card you play each turn is played twice, which is incredibly powerful for doubling the effects of key cards like Biased Cognition+, Defragment, or even an attack or skill card at a crucial moment. Make sure to get Echo Form out early in the battle to benefit from it throughout.
  2. Focus and Orbs: You have Defragment to increase your Focus, which boosts the effectiveness of your orbs. Combined with Biased Cognition+, which significantly increases Focus at the cost of reducing it each turn, you can deal massive damage or generate substantial block in the short term. Loop+ can also enhance the passive effect of your orbs, making your lightning and frost orbs even more effective.
  3. Energy Management: Cards like Charge Battery+ and Turbo help you manage energy efficiently. With Echo Form potentially doubling these cards, you can gain a significant energy advantage in critical turns. Hologram can be used to retrieve key cards from your discard pile, allowing you to adapt to the situation by picking exactly what you need, such as pulling back a Charge Battery for more energy or a powerful attack like Ritual Dagger.
  4. Damage and Defense Combo: Static Discharge+ is great for a reactive damage strategy, especially against enemies that attack multiple times. Every time you receive unblocked attack damage, it channels lightning orbs, which can then be empowered by your increased Focus. Cards like Boot Sequence+ and Equilibrium provide excellent defense, helping you set up your plays without taking too much damage.
  5. Utilizing Madness: The inclusion of Madness can reduce the cost of a key card to zero for the rest of combat. With Echo Form, you can potentially reduce the cost of two cards if played at the right time. This works well with high-cost cards or simply to make your energy management even more efficient.
  6. Dealing with Curses: You have Doubt as a curse, which you'll need to manage since it applies Weak. Use your deck's flexibility and the card Streamline (reduced cost upon reuse) to maintain offensive pressure even when weakened.
The deck's primary strategy should revolve around setting up Echo Form early and using your power cards to enhance your orbs’ damage and defensive capabilities. Managing energy effectively with Charge Battery+ and Turbo, and utilizing Hologram to recycle important cards will be key to mastering tough battles. Focus on building up your orbs, increasing Focus, and preparing for massive turns with doubled effects from Echo Form.
Okay, that's a very lengthy post. Again, I know these aren't top-tier expert plays and I have lots to learn, but these were some of my most enjoyable and satisfying game plays so far! :)
Feel free to leave comments! 😄

2024.05.22 04:12 mrcountry88 Applying to BCSO in Florida

EDIT: Found all the needed relevant information needed for the former relationships goes thanks to some LEO friends that provided phenomenal resources for me to locate everything I needed. Now just struggling to get my half brothers birthday as I have not spoke to that side in over a decade now. Not giving up, this BGC will get done one way or another.
Ok, so as the title already states (and to elaborate more) I am applying to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office in Brevard County Florida. I already went to my interview and got accepted pending my background check. I have already made my account on Guardian, as well as accepted their invitation.
Now I am stuck on one portion of the PHQ. It states:

"3: Established Dating Relationships

List any individuals (aside from your spouse/registered partner) you have had an established dating relationship with. (i.e, boyfriends, girlfriends, partners, etc.) Complete, current addresses and phone numbers must be provided. Locating current information may require you to contact parents, friends, or to utilize internet resources."
There are quite a few exes, that either I have blocked them, or vice versa in all forms. Understandably, the ones I blocked have a simple solution of unblocking them. Explaining the situation to them, and asking them for the needed information. The conundrum I face is the ones that have me blocked, and I have no truly feasible way of contacting.
I have tried personal records search engines on google, and have gone through a number of them over the last hour, only to come up on them all requiring payment with no guarantee that the results will be a positive match to each listed ex.
So I am wondering if there is any tips, resources, advice, etc that any of you may have for getting through this section of the PHQ with some shred of my sanity left.
Thank you in advance for your time, and help!

Hi,
i like [[The Eleventh Doctor]] very much concerning the series... but i think his card is one of the worst ones in all of Dr Who MtG.... especially compared to value engines like tenth doctor...
Is there a reasonable way to make him work around PL6? I know he is supposed to be paired with [[Amy Pond]], but even together they seem very underwhelming... and Jeskai coulf be easier to navigate too...
Does somebody have an idea on how to build him properly which works on a single digit cost per card budget? is there sonething like an unblockable tribal?

A detailed list might include: Drain unblocking, Burst pipe repair, Drain Cleaning, Toilet installation, Water heater repair, Sewer line inspection and repair.

Use Keyword Tools

Once you have your list of services, the next step is to use keyword research tools to find relevant keywords that potential customers are searching for.
Google Keyword Planner
Google’s Keyword Planner is an ultimate keyword research tool that’s free and can help you find keywords, helpful insights, and discover new keywords.

Enter Your Services

Discover New Keywords Google Keyword Planner
Input the list of services you created into the tool. For example, if you offer “drain cleaning” enter this term into the Keyword Planner Discover New Keywords followed by your target city.

Analyze Keyword Suggestions

The tool will generate a list of related keywords, showing their search volumes and competition levels. Look for keywords with a high search volume and low to medium competition. These are the sweet spots that can drive significant traffic to your site.

Include Local Geographic Modifiers

Add local modifiers to your keywords to target searches in your service area. For example, “drain cleaning near me” or “emergency plumber [your city],[abbreviation of your state].” This helps attract customers who are looking for services in specific locations.
Now I’ve found a low competition keyword that’s a longtail keyword (keyword phrase with 3+ words) “24 hour emergency plumber Atlanta”.
Check out Keyword Surfer from Matt Diggity to get even more keyword data for free. You can also see the estimated monthly traffic a website domain gets.

5. Website Content & Optimization

Including a call-to-action (CTA) encourages potential customers to take the next step.

Add Convenience

Create a page for free quotes and let users attach pictures of the damages to help you give them an online quote if possible.
Consider getting a schedule service plugin to your site.

Craft Compelling Content

Each service page should clearly describe the service, its benefits, and why customers should choose you. Include certifications, unique selling points, and customer testimonials to build trust.
Create engaging and informative content such as blog posts, FAQs, and plumbing tips to attract and retain visitors. Demonstrate your expertise and authority with pictures from job sites and speak from first-hand knowledge.

6. Build a Strong Link Profile

Guest blogging and engaging in community participation are free ways to build high-quality backlinks and establish your authority in the plumbing industry.

Identify Target Blogs

Find blogs in the plumbing, home improvement, and DIY niches that accept guest posts. Look for blogs with a good reputation and engaged audiences. Use search queries like “plumbing blogs accepting guest posts” or “home improvement write for us.”
Reach out to the blog owners with well-crafted pitches. Propose topics that are relevant to their audience and showcase your expertise. Ensure your pitch is concise and highlights the value you can provide to their readers.
Write well-researched, informative, and engaging articles. Focus on providing valuable insights and practical advice. Include relevant keywords naturally and ensure the content aligns with the blog’s style and tone.
In your author bio, include a brief description of yourself and your plumbing business, along with a link back to your website. Some blogs may also allow you to include a link within the content itself. Ensure these links are relevant and add value to the article.

Join Relevant Communities

Participate in forums and online communities related to plumbing, home improvement, and DIY. Websites like Reddit, Quora, and specialized plumbing forums like PlumbingForums.com are great places to start.
Offer helpful and knowledgeable answers to questions. Avoid blatant self-promotion and focus on providing genuine value. Share your expertise and build a reputation as a helpful professional.

HARO (Help A Reporter Out)

HARO connects sources with journalists looking for expert quotes. This can lead to high-quality backlinks from reputable sites.
Sign up for a free HARO account as a source. You will receive daily emails with journalist requests categorized by industry. Plumbing-related requests might fall under Home & Garden.
Monitor the HARO emails for requests related to plumbing, home maintenance, or small business operations. Respond promptly with concise, informative answers. Highlight your expertise and provide useful insights.
When responding, be detailed and professional. Include your full name, title, business name, and a link to your website. Journalists are more likely to use your quotes if they are well-articulated and relevant to their article.

Replicate Competitors’ Links

Analyzing your competitors’ backlinks can help you discover new link-building opportunities.
Identify your top competitors by searching for your target keywords in Google. Note the websites that consistently appear at the top of the search results.
Use tools like SEMrush or SpyFu to analyze your competitors’ backlink profiles. Enter their domain into the tool to see a list of websites linking to them.
Assess the quality of these backlinks by looking at metrics like organic traffic. Focus on high-quality backlinks from reputable sites.
Look for backlinks that you can replicate. These might include mentions in articles. Reach out to these websites with a similar pitch to get your site linked as well.

Reclaim Lost Links

Reclaiming lost links involves identifying and fixing broken or redirected links pointing to your site.
Use tools like Ahrefs or Google Search Console to identify broken links pointing to your website. These tools can help you find 404 errors and other issues.
Identify links that are redirected to other pages or domains. Ensure that the redirects are still relevant and pointing to the correct pages.
Reach out to the webmasters of the sites linking to your broken URLs. Politely ask them to update the link to the correct page. Provide the exact URL to make it easier for them.
If you have moved content to a new URL, set up 301 redirects from the old URLs to the new ones. This ensures that any backlinks pointing to the old URL still pass on link equity to the new page.

7. Technical SEO & Website Performance

Technical SEO ensures that search engines can find, understand, and index your pages.

Plan Your Site Structure

Plumber SEO Site Structure Example
A well-organized site structure helps visitors navigate your website and allows Google to find all your pages.

Internal Links

Include relevant internal links (links on one page to another on your site) throughout pages to help users easily navigate to important pages.

Concise URL-friendly Slug

SEO Unfriendly URL Slug Example
When making slugs for URLs (characters at the end of the URL, shown above) make sure they’re short and to the point. It’s recommended to be under 70 characters total, that’s including the entire URL. However, it’s important to note that Google is known to truncate URLs depending on devices.
For instance, notice the cut-offs in the below image.
SEO Unfriendly URL Slug Example
With Yoast or Rankmath you’ll be able to see how your page will appear in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

Write Compelling Titles

Your titles should be engaging and accurately describe the content. Use power words and numbers to make your titles more compelling. For example, “10 Easy Tips for Fixing a Leaky Faucet” or “How to Unclog Any Drain in 5 Simple Steps.”
Aim to keep your titles 50 to 55 characters (580px length to be exact, which free meta length checkers can help you with) to ensure they are fully displayed in SERPs and not cut off.
For a blog post on drain cleaning, a compelling title could be: “How to Clean a Clogged Drain: 7 Effective Methods”
Google is known to automatically change the title of your page in search results if it doesn’t match relevance. Follow best title practices to influence the result.

Keep the Meta Descriptions Concise

Clearly summarize what the page is about. Include the most important points that users should know before clicking. For a drain cleaning service page, you might write: “Get expert drain cleaning services in [City]. Our plumbers are available 24/7 to handle any blockage. Call [number] for a free quote.”
Try to keep your meta descriptions concise and within the 160-character limit (920 pixels to be precise) to ensure the full text is visible.
Include your phone number in the meta description as this is clickable on mobile.

Use Clear Headings and Subheadings

Heading Tag Structure Example
Organize your content with clear headings (H1, H2, H3) and subheadings. This not only improves readability but also helps search engines understand the structure of your content.
Break down information into bullet points and numbered lists where appropriate. This makes your content more scannable and user-friendly.

Key Pages to Make

Home Page, About Us, Contact Us
Service Pages
Service Locations (Be careful on this one and follow Google’s guidelines on Doorways)
Service Location City Page
Free Estimate Page (Optional page to allow people to attach pictures)
Schedule Service Page (Optional)
Blogs for Informational Articles and How-To’s

Create and Upload Your Sitemap

Install a Plugin like Yoast or Rankmath to give you some useful SEO tools and create a sitemap to submit to Google and Bing.

Use HTTPS

HTTPS is a secure way for visitors to access web pages. Check if your website uses HTTPS by looking for a lock icon in the browser’s search bar.

Monitor Your SEO Health

Regularly monitor your website’s SEO health using tools like Google Search Console. These tools can help you identify and fix common SEO issues. Key metrics to track include organic traffic, keyword performance, and site health score.

Responsive Design

Responsive design refers to a web design approach that makes web pages render well on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes. It ensures that your website looks and functions correctly on desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

Optimize Images

Large images can slow down your website, leading to a poor user experience, especially on mobile devices with slower internet connections. Optimizing images ensures faster loading times, which can improve both user experience and SEO.
Use a site like TinyJPG to compress images for free.

Simple Website Layout

A simple, uncluttered layout improves user experience by making it easier for visitors to navigate your site and find the information they need. It also ensures that your site loads faster, as there are fewer elements to load. You can find highly optimized plumber templates that you can use with WordPress.

Click-to-Call Buttons

Click-to-call buttons are crucial for mobile users, allowing them to contact your business with a single tap. This convenience can increase conversion rates and improve customer satisfaction. Create a call button or add the hyperlink tel:[your number] to phone numbers.

Advanced Technical SEO

If you’re savvy on the technical side you can use free diagnostic tools like webpagetest and Google’s PageSpeed Insights to get more details on how to improve your loading speed and other technical optimizations.
Another step is installing and configuring a free caching plugin like WP Super Cache.

Breadcrumbs

You can use breadcrumbs to help Google understand the hierarchy of your site and may help users on their journey through your site.
Breadcrumbs appear as the navigation links at the top of the page that look like this:
Home >> Residential Plumbing >> Drain Cleaning Services

Local SEO Schema

Add Plumber schema to important pages like the home page, contact, and service pages. You can use Schemantra to create the code to place on your site for free.

8. SEO Content Marketing

Creating valuable content can attract traffic and customers from organic search.

Topic Keyword Research

Finding the right topics to write about is crucial for attracting organic traffic.
Begin with broad keywords related to plumbing, such as “leak repair,” “drain cleaning,” or “water heater maintenance.” Enter these into keyword research tools like Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, Google Keyword Planner, or SEMrush.
Use these tools to find related keywords and phrases that people are searching for. Look for questions and long-tail keywords (phrases with three or more words) that indicate specific user intents.
Instead of just “drain cleaning,” look for “how to clean a clogged drain” or “best drain cleaning services in [city].”
Evaluate the search volume and competition level for each keyword. Ideally, seek keywords with high search volume but low to medium competition. This increases the chances of ranking well without facing too much competition.
When reviewing these keywords go after transactional keywords as these will typically bring you more conversions. “Emergency plumber near me” is a transactional keyword because it has a higher likelihood of the potential customer seeking service. Compare this to an information keyword such as, “What’s the history of plumbing?”.
Analyze the search engine results pages (SERPs) for your target keywords to see what type of content is ranking.
Look for featured snippets, people also ask boxes, and top-ranking articles to understand the type of content Google favors. Keep in mind that when using standard browser settings you’ll see personalized results.
You can use tools like AnswerThePublic for free to find more of what people are asking about a given topic.

For Blogs Use Questions and Informational Keywords

Blogs focus on questions and informational keywords, such as “how-to” guides, tutorials, and tips. Good content written on this tends to attract more engagement and backlinks.

Publish Optimized Blog Posts

Analyze the top-ranking pages for your target keywords to understand the user intent behind the searches. Are people looking for how-to guides, detailed articles, or quick answers? Align your content with what users intend to find.
Ensure your content fully addresses the search query. If users are looking for a guide on fixing a leaky faucet, provide a step-by-step tutorial with images, videos, and troubleshooting tips.
Include Images and Videos
Use relevant images, infographics, and videos to enhance your content. Visual elements can help explain complex topics and keep readers engaged.
Having an embedded YouTube video with a person speaking on the topic or pointing out common plumbing parts can set you apart from many competitors.

9. Promote Your Content

Share your blog posts on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Tailor your posts to each platform’s audience and use engaging visuals and descriptions to attract attention.
Participate in relevant Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, and online communities related to plumbing and home improvement. Share your content when appropriate if it adds value to the discussion.

10. Tracking SEO Progress

Tracking your SEO efforts is essential to understanding what’s working and what needs improvement.

Google Business Profile Performance

Monitoring your Google Business Profile (GBP) performance is crucial for understanding how well your business is performing in local search results.

Check Profile Performance

Log into your Google account and search for your business name. This should bring up your Google Business Profile. Click on the “See profile performance” button to access detailed metrics about how your profile is performing.

Pages: Identify which pages on your site are performing best in search. This can help you understand what type of content resonates most with your audience.
Devices: Understand how users are accessing your site (desktop, mobile, tablet). This helps you ensure your site is optimized for all devices, most importantly mobile.

Optimize Based on Insights

Use the data from GSC to optimize your site’s SEO strategy. If you notice that certain pages have a high number of impressions but a low CTR, consider updating the meta descriptions and title tags to be more compelling.

2024.05.16 21:26 Gookuul German student visa doubt ( somewhat complicated ) how do I move forward

Hi everyone, I have received admission from a business school in Germany for winter intake 2024. I have paid the first semester fee. Since it's a paid program I need to show proof of funds for second semester during the visa process. The visa website mentions that I can put that second semester fee as unblocked money in the blocked account.
This is where it gets complicated, I have a relative in Germany who is willing to give Verpflichtungserklärungen ( formal obligation letter saying he will take care of my bills and everything). So if he gives the above, I don't have to get a blocked account. But how do I show the proof of funds for second semester fee? Can I show it through my Indian account or my sponser should show it in his German bank account?

2024.05.14 02:18 bathuz traubleshooting with bombardier br 300 plus 1999

Hey hello good morning, I was watching videos looking for answers to my problems and I found nothing
I live in a small town in Argentina, Caviahue is the name of the place, the government has a 1999 Bombardier Br 300, a few years ago I made it run without having any knowledge of hydraulics, just a little bit of car mechanics, it worked for a few years and now it's back. to break.
The problem is one of the sprockets rotates without giving the command with the automatic brake on, when I deactivate it it starts to work normally, but when I let it be it moves on its own with the engine at idle and the other sprocket wheel manages to It only moves half a turn, my question is, is there any way to purge the pumps? Or unblocking the solenoid valves without removing the complete pumps? since I do not have as much knowledge or tools to work as you do, which is why I am trying to eliminate possible smaller problems. without much more greetings from Argentina! (sorry if there are errors, I'm using an automatic translator to take less time)

2024.05.13 11:45 FierySlime Looking for an gaming PC upgrade within a 1000-1500 budget

I'm currently using a i7-11700F with a RTX 3070, 32gbs of DDR4 3200mhz ram and 500gbs SSD
Looking for a good prebuilt with a better CPU, Equal or better GPU and 1tb of SSD at least. With ram I would prefer one with 32gbs DDR5 but I can go with DDR4 any gbs as I can swap my current ram out if it only has 16gbs
As with specifications the motherboard must be fully unblocked as my current prebuilt has XMP locked. Would like one that doesn't run too hot and has decently quiet fans, my current one runs decently cool but sounds like a jet engine. RGB and aesthetics does not matter at all.
Also for purchasing it must not be on newegg I always had trouble buying pcs from there. I'd prefer something like best buy or amazon and maybe microcenter
I looked on toprigz but couldn't decide on which one I should get. If anyone can send me multiple recommendations along the 1000 to 1500 budget that would be amazing.
I been looking at this one, would it be worth the price or should I keep looking? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D12Q9JDQ
