Full body baby/toddler swimwear comparisons
2024.05.18 03:14 Peaceinthewind Full body baby/toddler swimwear comparisons
Summer is almost here, and that means more sun and time in the water!
I'm looking to get a full body swimsuit for my baby-soon-to-be-toddler. Applying sunscreen (especially mineral that requires rubbing in) to a squirmy baby is so hard! I've heard great things about UV Skinz and SwimZip brands.
But one thing I'm wondering about is sizing. My baby has VERY chunky thighs. Despite being 45% for weight and 55% for height, when they were 6 months old they outgrew 9m footies because there wasn't enough fabric in the thighs. Then at 8 months old they outgrew 12m footies pajamas due to them being too tight in the thigh. As an 8 month old, they could only wear those parachute/u-shape pants in size 12m. Baby isn't walking yet, so it will be a few more months until proportions even out.
Anyone know if UV Skinz, SwimZip, or other brands that carry full body swimsuits would (or would not) work for a chunky thigh baby? Those companies also offer separates, but the leggings look so skinny and not the parachute/u-shape. It's expensive, otherwise I'd just order and find out. Would greatly appreciate if anyone can share their experience with sizing and fit!

2024.05.16 15:10 LakeCultural3987 Forgot maintenance would be coming by to fix something.
Maintenance had come to fix something, but I had forgot they were coming. I was working nights and had maybe been asleep for an hour or two. I woke to the sound of someone struggling to open the apartment door. I stumbled out of my bedroom wearing Ninja Turtle footie pajamas (Raphael if you were wondering) and I had a massive erection (what some people refer to as morning wood). The maintenence man was just as shocked to see me as I was to see him. His eyes glanced downward for a brief moment, then back up to my eyes as he began to apologize and quickly retreated out the front door slamming it behind him. There was something about those eyes..... I have never seen a man with so much fear in his eyes.

2024.05.16 14:30 -Near_Yet- Baby Congested at Night - What Can I Do?
My daughter started daycare about a month ago at 6 months old. As expected, after the first week, she got her very first cold. Thankfully it was relatively mild and she got over it pretty quickly! She hasn’t had any daytime or bedtime congestion in almost 2 weeks now.
We check on her before we go to bed around 10:30pm and her breathing is great. I get up to pump at 3:00am and my husband does a dreamfeed (bottle of breastmilk) then as well, and her breathing is great. Her normal wake time is 6:45am, but for the last several nights she’s been waking up between 5:30am - 6:00am due to being totally congested. What gives??
She gets a warm bath before bed and then sleeps in her own room in her crib, wearing footie pajamas and a sleep sack. Her room is 70-72F overnight. She sleeps with her ceiling fan on low and cool mist humidifier on through the night.
Is it the dreamfeed? Is it the fan? Is it the humidifier? What can I do to help her not get congested so she can sleep all the way to her normal wake time?

2024.05.15 06:18 S-CSleepwalker Please, don’t play this game
I’m not too sure if this is the right place to post this. Hell, I don’t know if anyone’s even gonna see it. I want to start this off by saying that this story isn’t to be taken lightly. I don’t want you to read this and try to copy what is done, instead take it as a warning. A warning to never play this game, a warning I wish I had gotten before I made that mistake.
I lived almost my entire life in the middle of Delaware, if you forgot that was a state I wouldn’t blame you. In my neighborhood there were 3 kids I always played with everyday. Kyle, Jimmy, and Seth. Our houses were close enough to each other that we played together whenever we had the chance.
We did all the typical things a couple 13 year old boys would do. Swimming in the local pool, going to the Walmart and buying nothing, or just hang in one of our basements and being jack-asses. It was almost a Disney-like childhood. Sleepovers were nothing new for us, I think we had one almost every weekend. What was new was not having any parents there to watch us.
Seth offered to host the next one and included that his parents were gonna be gone for the night. They were staying down at the beach and told Seth it would be fine for him to invite us over. Fine for him, not so much for the rest of us. I think me and the other guys pleaded and begged our parent’s multiple times to let us go.
Our parents knew each other and trusted us but the idea of 4 pre-pubescent boys being alone in a house was any parents worse nightmare. Somehow, by the grace of god, they agreed the night before. After all this time, I still wish they had denied us. Maybe things would have ended differently.
I wanna tell you about the events that happened that night that changed me into who I am. It changed my life and every families that was involved in it. This is the night I played Hide and Seek with my friends.
“Hide and Seek? Won’t that get boring with just 4 of us?” I asked suspiciously as I took a handful of Doritos from the bowl on the table. It was about 10:30pm when Kyle suggested we play a game so we could try and stay up later.
“Yeah man and besides, we have an Xbox.” Jimmy pointed out. Seth came walking down the basement with some sodas in hand, almost dropping the cans
“What are you guys talking about? You better not be thinking of touching my controller with your greasy hands Jimmy, not after last time.”
“It was an accident! I got you a new one.” Jimmy responded before chuckling a bit.
“No guys, I saw this on the internet a few nights ago. We have to try it.” Kyle said. He almost sounded like he was pleading with us.
Kyle was always the kind of kid to believe in spooky things. Ghost, werewolves, demons. You name it, Kyle probably believed it. I remember one time he somehow got us all to go in the woods with him during the winter to look for dog people that a YouTuber said was out near us. We all got the flu after that.
“Oh god, another one of these? Is it gonna be like that dog thing again?” Seth chimed in.
“It’s not like that, this one is real. I promise dude.” Kyle seemed genuine about it. I almost felt bad as the other guys called him stupid for it.
“Alright man, we try your game for a bit. Then if it’s a bust, we play Xbox.” I suggested. Kyles face lite up as he got some paper out of his bag.
“Who said you were in charge of deciding when to play my Xbox?” Seth questioned. I just shushed him as Kyle got some more stuff out of his bag. Candles, lighters, a knife. I would have hated to see what would happen if we said no to his idea.
“Alright, first. We gotta turn all the lights off. Not a single one can be on during the game.” We looked at each other before we went off to get the house started. I had been in Seth’s house almost as much as mine but there’s strangeness to it when the lights were all off. We got back to the basement where we found Kyle lighting the candles and placing them on the ground around the paper. As we sat around him I could see some words on the paper. “Ready or Not, here it comes”
“What’s that for?” I pointed as Kyle placed the last candle down.
“That’s to start the game. I saw these Indian guys play it and they said you have to start the game just like this or it doesn’t work.” Kyle answered as he slowly pulled the knife up and turned to face us.
“Now, we have to cut ourselves.”
“Like Sarah from home room?” Jimmy chuckled
“I thought that was a rumor?” Seth remarked as he leaned towards Jimmy
“Guys! Focus! Just a small prick on your finger. Then you put it on the paper.” Kyle demanded as he slowly pressed the knife tip into his finger
“This feels very, extreme. Is this safe to play?” I asked, seeing Kyle whence as blood slowly pooled on the top of his finger
“I think so, the guys seemed like they were having fun when they did it.” He held the knife towards me next, the guys watched as I reluctantly took the knife and plucked my finger. I did encourage us to play this for Kyle sake, I couldn’t chicken out now. The other two did the same, Jimmy had more tears then the rest of us but when he finished he handed the knife back to Kyle.
“Now?” Seth asked, rubbing his finger on his Pokémon pajama bottoms.
“Now, repeat after me.” We all listened to Kyle and repeated
“ 1, 2, 3. Ready or not, come find me.” We stared at each other. Silence filled the basement as our eyes kept darting to see if anything happened.
“Do you hear that?” Seth whispered We listened as the most quiet fart escaped him. He fell on his back and laughed. Jimmy joined him and so did I. We laughed and laughed, I looked to see if Kyle found it as amusing but was met with sadness. He looked almost heart broken, I knew he lived for these kinda things and for it to not work most have broken him. I moved to him and smiled
“Hey, at least we didn’t have to sit out in negative degrees to get results this time huh?” He smiled slight back
“Yeah I guess you’re right. I don’t know how those guys made it look so convincing.”
“CGI probably, my dad says that’s how most things are done like that.” Seth said as he got up to go turn the light back on. Before he hit the switch, a loud thud filled the room. I’ll never forget the look on his face as he rushed back to the floor where we were all sitting.
“W-what was that?” Jimmy whispered to me. I didn’t know what to say until Kyle reluctantly chimed in.
“It’s him, the seeker.” We sat still as another thud could be heard. Like it was right above us.
“What the fuck dude? S-Seth? Did you invite someone else over? Duncan or Josh maybe?” Jimmy was frantic with his questions as his eyes filled with tears.
“No, it’s him.” Kyle answered before Seth could respond.
“Who?” I asked
“The seeker. The person who plays the game with us.”
“Well tell him we don’t wanna play anymore.” Seth demanded, making sure to keep his voice down.
“We can’t, they said he plays until everyone is found.”
“What do you mean until we’re found?” I asked, I kept looking at the stairs. My brain was trying to wrap around what was happening while also trying to keep reason in it.
“It’s like hide and seek. We play until we’re all found or he can’t find us.” Kyle answered
“Ok, let’s go get found so the game can be over.” Seth tried to stand before Kyle pulled him down.
“No, we don’t wanna be found. Bad things happen if we’re found.” Kyle looked at the carpet as he said it. The thud got louder, almost like it was searching the house.
“Ok, ok. Then we should just stay down here right? If we hide down here it won’t find us….h-how long do we have to hide man?” I stuttered as I waited for Kyle to answer.
“I…I don’t know.”
We sat there in silence, thuds and crashes from upstairs made the silence somehow louder. I had wished it was all a prank. Seth and Jimmy loved pulling those and Kyle was usually the target for them. But I knew it wasn’t that, I knew this was real. I don’t know how it was but at that moment there was something upstairs, tearing the house apart trying to find us.
We stayed like that until Seth finally spoke “Let’s run.”
“What?” Kyle mumbled out, his face covered by his hands. Tears were rolling down his cheeks.
“Let’s run, the doors not to far from the basement entrance. We unlock it and run to a neighbors.” Seth looked for nods or any sign of agreement. Jimmy nodded and I slowly shook yes. I looked at Kyle, grabbing his leg and squeezing it.
“Come on man, we’re definitely faster than it. We’ll be out before it even sees us.” I smiled at him.
He looked up and slowly smiled, nodding. We all slowly moved to the base of the basement stairs. Looking down into a dark basement is scary, but looking up into a dark house is another whole kind of fear. I don’t know how long we took going up those steps but it felt like ages, we were slowly ascending into what could be our end. Seth held the doorknob and just stared at it. I knew he didn’t wanna be the one to open it, to potentially be the one to see what ever it was that was on the other side. I scooted around Jimmy and slowly turned to knob.
The door silently opened, the house was almost pitch dark. The only light we had was from the moon herself, shining into the windows and illuminating the destroyed house. He quietly but quickly moved towards the front door. I peered into the living room to see the chairs and couches turned upside down, some side table doors ripped off they hinges.
“Hurry up man.” Jimmy urged Seth on as he fumbled slightly with the deadbolt. I looked to see Kyle slight behind, close to the basement door. I moved over to get him ready to run
“Let’s go Kyle, we gotta get-“ I almost finished my words as I watched his face turn from scared to horrified. I turned slightly to see Jimmy on the floor crawling away from the door.
I’m not sure even after all this time how to describe what we saw that night. I had wished it was just a man. Some man that was in the house with us but it sadly wasn’t. The best I can try and give a description is to think of a Picasso painting. It had a crookedness to it. Its arm jagged and legs crumbled as it towered over Seth. Seth didn’t move, he didn’t try and fight. All he could do was stand there and look up to see its eyes peering down at him. It picked Seth up and like a rag doll threw him into the living room. A mean and disgusting noise came from his body as he hit the wall of the fireplace. I quickly got Jimmy to his feet and Kyle to snap out of his gaze. Me and Kyle ran to the bathroom as Jimmy made his to the kitchen. I locked the door as I tried to catch my own heart from jumping out my chest. “J-Jimmy? Where-“
My question was shortly answered as I heard Jimmy whimpering and crying outside the room. I unlocked the door and peaked out the crack. I watched “it” linger its way towards him and all I could hear was wet sounds. I quickly shut the door and relocked it. My mind didn’t really process what had just happened in what couldn’t have been more than 3 minutes. My two friends I had been with almost my entire life were gone, just like that. I sat on the cold tile floor as I listened to the thudding from outside. My breathing was dull as I looked to see Kyle shaking by the toilet. I slowly moved my self over and gave him a hug. I knew what he was thinking, I knew the horrible things he was saying to himself in his mind. I didn’t know how to tell him that what was happening wasn’t his fault. I’m not sure that even now I could find the words to tell him that.
“We’ll be fine, we just gotta stay here. It won’t find us.” I tried to reassure him.
“No, it will find us. We can’t stay here.”
“Kyle, Seth and Jimmy are dead. We can’t go back out there and run. I don’t know why we thought it would work.”
“No we…we…I need to get to the basement.” Kyle said, he looked up at me.
“Why? It’s a dead end there. It will-“
“Maybe, I can try and end the game. Rip the paper up…something, I don’t know.” I didn’t know what to say.
On one hand it was the only idea we had besides hiding and waiting to be found. On the other, I couldn’t bring myself to put that hope in his mind. To encourage him just to watch as it fails, He knew this as he came to his own conclusion.
“I’ll go down there, and you head for the coat closet. If it doesn’t work I’ll run back up and I’ll head there to hide with you. Ok?” He nodded to himself. I just stared at him as I nodded back slight. We stood up and slowly unlocked the door. It wasn’t anywhere we could see, which made it all more frightening. We slowly made our way to the basement door
“Good Luck” I whispered to him. He smiled and went our separate ways in the house. I quickly got in the coat closet that was almost directly in front of the basement door, and Kyle made his way down stairs.
That was the last I saw of Kyle, it wasn’t long after I heard loud thudding outside the closet door that quickly went down the stairs. All I could do was sit there, and listen as I heard the silent screams and the pounding of flesh over and over and over again. Soon the hits became more wet, and the screams became more silent.
I sat in the closet and accepted my fate. I slight covered myself with a fallen coat as I heard the thudding move around the house. It was only a matter of time before it got me, before it ripped the door open and I would be met with its horrifying figure. I looked out the slits of the closet door and saw the moon light shining through the windows.
I’m not sure when I fell asleep or even how I did. My body must have been so exhausted that it decided sleep was more important than survival. My eyes slowly opened to see daylight peering though the house. The night was gone and the day had come to save me. Although I was relieved I still forced my eyes shut. The small amount of what I saw was enough to make me do it. I saw the closet door was open, I didn’t wanna have them open as it might slowly peer from the corner and look at me. I didn’t want my last image to be that. I just kept them closed and covered my ears. And then I felt it. Thuds.
I could feel the thudding get closer, closer, closer. Two hands grabbed me, this was it. My flight or fight kicked in and I started to fight. Kicking, hitting, screaming. Anything I could think of I was doing.
“Calm down son, calm down. You’re safe.” Those words hit me like a wall, a calmness I hadn’t felt since the day before came over me. My eyes slowly opened to see the face of a young man kneeling in front of me, his hands holding my arms. He was a police officer.
“It’s gonna be alright.” He reassured me again as he slowly brought me to my feet. He walked me out of the closet and faintly said “Keep your eyes down kid, I’ll lead you out.” I think he said it more for himself, cause I knew what he didn’t want me to see.
Seth was laying in the living room, he’s body bruised from the impact with the wall and his bones broken.Jimmy was on the kitchen counter, multiple wounds and slashes were found on him. Kyle…I’m not sure what really happened to him. The reports on his body never came out. I just know I’ll never forget those sounds from when I hid in the closet.
Seth’s parents moved away almost immediately after the incident. Just left, didn’t take a single thing from that house. It was later taken down, I guess no one wanted to live in a house where something like that could happen.
I saw Jimmy and Kyles parents every once and awhile when I walked around the neighborhood. They would give me small smiles and waves and I would return them back. No more, no less. After high school I moved away for college, my parents knew why and never argued that I should stay closer.
That was a little more than 15 years ago. Few weeks back my dad called to tell me mom had passed away. He offered if I wanted to stay at home for the funeral, stay in my old room. I hesitated. I thought of that night every day for the past 15 years, never really bringing myself to wanna be back in that neighborhood. I refused and opted for a hotel a few miles away in town.
And that’s where I am now, in my bed writing my tale. I want you to take it as a warning, cause as I write this I know I’m not alone. It’s here, it’s in the closet of the hotel room. I can just make out its outline. It’s crooked legs crouching to fit inside, its arms slight poking out from some clothes, and its eyes staring at me. It knows I see it, and it knows I’m writing about that night. I’m not sure why now it decided to finish the game from all those years ago but here we are. Once I finish and close my laptop, it will kill me. My father will have to bury his son just moments after burying my mother.
I say this again, this tale is a warning. If I could I would go back and tell myself to never play that game. I would tell my parents to never let us have that sleep over. I would do everything in my power to stop that night from happening, to be able to save my friends. So please, I beg and plead to you, don’t play this game. Cause if you do, whether your ready or not…
He’s coming to find you

2024.05.09 07:12 TyDitto A fantastic return to a fantastic community.
My friends and started playing again and this is the first in like 3+ years. I was saddened by the fact that my jump from Xbox to PC didn't bring what I had with me, but I marched on. At my 27th level I was considering my options for what build I wanted to go for, only to be chosen for me. An individual in some kind of pink pajamas level 2000+ waves at me and drops an entire set of Excavator power armor right before me and with the effects of some kind of moon gravity launched himself into the stratosphere.
Just like I had in my Xbox save I had to do it here, it was clear. Heavy armor, heavy guns my beloved.
I'm level 60 now and as I had reached 50 I had done what was done to me, greeted a newer player, passed the power armor on and went my way.
I want to thank the 76 community that after so many years of inactivity I can count on the generosity and kindness of the community that I have done so, so many years ago.

2024.05.08 18:40 RutilusNova Baby socks, alternative suggestions?
What do you all do when your baby's socks are too tight?
All of my 4 month old's socks dont fit and leave marks on her legs. I've tried 6-12mo socks, 1yr socks, etc. and all of them are too tight. Footie pants don't quite work either because she's too long for them, or the waistband doesn't fit. I'd do footie pajamas but during the daytime I like dressing her in fun onesies and pants/bloomers and don't really want to sacrifice that - I am more just curious what you all use to keep their feet warm. Tights? Booties?

2024.05.08 00:50 Passionfruit4Life FTM - Registry Must Have's/Don't Needs 2024
Reddit was insanely helpful to me as I constructed my registry as a FTM, and I wanted to pay it forward and create a detailed post as a now FTM to a 4 week old of what I think are must have's, don't needs, and what I purchased after my daughter was born. When I did my searching, a lot of what I found was quite frankly some obvious stuff like a crib, diapers, etc., so I wanted to take the time to list some more "obscure" stuff along with details around certain items I would have found helpful.
Places I registered at:
Amazon - loved it. Super easy to use, and pretty much everyone knows how to use it and/or has Amazon Prime these days. The welcome box was great, and the returns are super easy. I did not have any isssues with counterfeit products, but I also did not register for many big ticket nursery items such as a crib, etc.
Babylist - I only created a registry here to register for their sampler boxes. I CANNOT recommend these enough. The Bottle Box, Swaddle Box, Diaper Box, and Pacifier Box. We got to try all different kinds of the above items and ultimately ordered more of the kinds she ended up liking! The con to Babylist is that a lot of people find it not user friendly, and the buyer has to actually manually mark items as purchased and they often forget to do so and it's very annoying.
- Activity & Gear:
- Must Have's
- Baby Bjorn Bouncer - I set my baby in here every day while I shower, do some quick chores, etc
- Baby Carrier - I have a Lille Baby and have not used it yet because it turns out these super structured carriers are really too big for newborns. After we brought her home, I ordered the Boppy Hybrid Adjustable Carrier and we love it. It still has structure, but is more of a wrap style so she fits nicely in there as a tiny newborn. I recommend a wrap or hybrid style such as this if you'd like to wear your baby as a newborn, and a structured one for when they're bigger.
- Lovevery Play Mat for tummy time
- Don't Needs
- I would wait to register for a swing to see if you really need one. They are big and take up a lot of room and some babies hate them. We never got one and don't miss it.
- Baby Clothing:
- Must Have's
- Magnetic Me onesies, particularly in Newborn and 0-3 sizes. My husband and I are obsessed!
- Zippered footie pajamas - Kyte Baby, Little Sleepies, Cloud Island, etc.
- Don't Needs
- Everyone is right - register for MINIMAL clothing if any at all. We have been flooded with clothing as gifts and there's no way she's going to get to wear all of it, so we'll be donating a lot of it unfortunately
- Lots of socks
- Mittens - you really don't need these. Most of the footie pajamas will have built-in mittens.
- Blankets - you will get. so. many. blankets. And if you don't - they're cheap.
- Cute outfits in the small sizes - our baby just lives in pajamas. It's not like we go anywhere. And she needs changing a million times a day anwyays.
- Bathing:
- Must Have's
- Angel Care Infant Tub and/or the Blooming Bath Petal. These are to set your baby in to support them in the sink/tub when they are so tiny. I love these both!
- Microfiber washcloths
- Bath toys
- Kneeling pad so you can lean over the tub
- Gentle shampoo such as Mustela
- Don't Needs
- Lots of hooded towels - if any at all. You can seriously use regular towels, although the hooded towels we have we think are super cute. But we ended up with a lot as these are like clothes and people love to gift these.
- Diapering:
- Must Have's
- Wipes. A lot of them. Preferably water-based, sensitive type
- Keekaroo Peanut Changing Pad - any time she pees or poops we just simply wipe it down.
- Munchkin waterproof changing pad liners - we ended up buying these after we got home from the hospital for the Peanut changing pad because she was soooo cold on it especially in the middle of the night. We don't always use these on top but you can tell it makes her more comfortable! And they are waterproof and easy to wash.
- Some sort of diaper changing station caddy like the Ubbi one - keeps wipes, cream, spatulas, etc. organized
- Butt spatula - seriously, get one. You won't mess up your hands when applying diaper cream.
- Aquaphor - use this as a "barrier" between your baby's skin and their very acidic poop.
- Ruvalino Diaper Bag backpack - we love ours! For any time we leave the house
- OXO Tot on the go wipes dispenser - for your diaper bag
- Ubbi Diaper Pail - this thing is AMAZING. We have it right next to our dressechanging station and we just slide it open and drop the dirty diapers in there.
- Ubbi Wipes Dispenser - comes with a weighted top so it's easy to see/tell how many wipes you have left
- Diapers - buy some packs of different brands. We ended up loving Huggies. Every baby/family is different!!
- Dont Needs
- Wipes warmer. Do I think my baby would like her wipes warm, yes. I just don't want another gadget on the changing table lol.
- Feeding: Big disclaimer on this one. I went into my feeding journey open to both breastfeeding and formula. I was woefully under prepared in all that I would need supplies-wise and knowledge-wise when it comes to this topic, and it's an IMPORTANT ONE. I would caution you against opening a lot of the stuff you get until after baby arrives because you may not end up needing it depending on if you are EBF, EP, combo feeding, or EFF.
- Must Haves for Breastfeeding/Nursing/Pumping:
- Microsteam microwave bags for first-use sterilizing of pump parts and bottles
- Nursing pillows - we have both Boppy and My Brest Friend, we think My Brest Friend is superior.
- Breastmilk storage bags if pumping - I bought silicone reusable ones
- Nursing pads - you will likely leak, but you can also wait to purchase these until after you give birth to see if you need them
- Nipple butter - I liked Earth Mama's
- Nipple shields - you may need these as most FTM nipples will absolutley crack and bleed in the early days
- Silverettes - these things are amazing! Helps your cracked nipples heal very fast and protects against chafing in your bra
- Hands free pumping bra if you are pumping - I loved the Simple Wishes one
- Must Haves for Formula Feeding:
- Dr Browns Pitcher - must have. You can make a batch of formula every 24 hours and just pour it into a bottle prior to feeding your baby. And it's $10.
- Bottle drying rack - I ended up buying the OXO Tot vertical rack and bottle and cup cleaning set to have tons of space to dry bottle and pump parts. You want to make sure you have your own brush separate from the one you use to wash your dishes.
- Portable baby formula dispenser for the diaper bag when you leave the house
- Bottles - from the Babylist Bottle sampler box, we ended up loving Comotomo and Boon Nursh and ordered those. I would not register for lots of bottles until you know what your baby likes.
- Must Haves Feeding in General:
- Dont Needs
- Hot take: Nursing bras. I just wore my regular bralettes and popped my boob out. I liked it a lot better than the clunky clip-style nursing bras, but to each their own
- Bottle sterilizer - our pediatrician told us to sterilize bottles, pump parts and pacifiers upon first use, and then just hot water and soap after that.
- Bottle warmer - our baby takes her formula milk cold. No need for a bottle warmer!
- Haakaa - this thing worked, but I didn't quite get all the hype. Its supposed to be used to catch letdown from one breast while your LO nurses on the other. I truthfully only used it when I was really engorged in the morning.
- Baby Brezza - just a heads up that I know these are super popular, but our pediatrician actually told us to return ours that was gifted to us because there are reports it doesn't always accuratley mix the right amount of formula to water. I know these are wildly popular and we may try it out one day but we will probably return ours and just use the formula pitcher method.
- Health & Baby Care
- Must Haves:
- Mylicon gas drops - we Amazon Primed these when our LO was struggling with gas pain and they do help!
- Frida Baby electric nail trimmer - I use this every week and even brought it to the hospital. It's so easy to use!
- Frida Baby Basics Kit
- Thermometer
- You can always buy a lot of this stuff after baby arrives.
- Nursery Essentials
- Must Haves:
- Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO Video Baby Monitor - we love this monitor. Super clear picture.
- Nestig Crib - this crib starts as a mini crib with wheels, and then transitions to a full sized crib and then toddler bed. All of the conversions are included. We are absolutely loving being able to roll the mini crib around our ranch house.
- Hatch sound machine - you need a white noise machine!
- Newton Mattress
- 3 waterproof mattress protectors and 3 sheets - we like Kyte Baby sheets
- Babyletto Dresser & Glider - super high quality!
- Strollers & Car Seats
- Must Haves:
- Nuna TRIV Next Stroller - we love this stroller! Glides really well and compatible with our Nuna PIPA infant car seat.
- Nuna PIPA Infant Car Seat
- SkipHop Universal Stroller Organizer
- Battery operated stroller fan (bonus: bring this to the hospital with you for labor!)
- Two car mirrors (one for your car, one for your partner's)
- Two convertible car seats (might as well add two to your registry - if noone buys them, you can at least get completion discount!) we like the Britax models

- Random Stuff
- Must Haves:
- Miss Mouths Messy Eater Stain Treater - this stuff works!
- OxiClean Baby - I soak all of my baby's poop stained outfits in this stuff and it comes right out.
- Baby closet dividers - divides clothes by size. So satisyfing.
- Kids hangers
- Baby gate for any stairways, etc.
- Outdoor blanket for laying your baby on the grass outside, picnics
- Wet/dry bags - great for your diaper bag!

2024.05.05 02:37 PackagedNightmare US parents - what brands make size 12M footie zip pajamas?
LO is 4 months and already outgrowing his 9M sleepers. I realized very quickly that a lot of brands seem to stop making sleepers past size 9M for whatever reason. So frustrating!!
Are there any brands that do larger sizes without breaking the bank?
EDIT: thank you all for the suggestions! I was able to find some sleepers after casting a wider net and making peace that the cuter baby prints (cloud island pretzels I’m so sad) aren’t gonna be available.

Baby is in the 3-6 month and needs some new ones but I would like to try some new brands. I really like 100% cotton or those stretchy bamboo ones.

2024.04.29 21:45 reilsreilsreils Fit check: ergobaby
| Not exactly sure of the model as it was a hand me down! Baby is 12 weeks and somewhere around 13 pounds. He seems very content but want to ensure I have enough of a curve in his back as I was struggle to ensure the seat felt deep enough. Also struggling as one knee appears to be hitched higher than the other. The strap is also in his face a bit (and he’s sucking on it..). I also know about footie pajamas - just did a quick try on for the fit check 😌 any tips are welcome! submitted by reilsreilsreils to babywearing [link] [comments] |
2024.04.29 18:51 brainwashednomore I sat in the doorway of my GF 5yo room to prevent the child from continuing to slam the door as hard as she could
My gf has 3 young ch children. She used a “permissive” approach to parenting because she can not tolerate her children experiencing any kind of distress that she can save them from. Their house is very small and to get around inside every time I am there I am forced to step on top of belongings that are strewn everywhere. It is extremely unsanitary. Her children have been sent home from school due to lice at least 5 times since I met her in November. The younger wears footie pajamas to school every day and no underwear because that is what the child wants. My gf claims the house is a disaster because she doesn’t have any help and that her children aren’t willing to do so. She will ask them questions like “would you like to help me with ___?” but any and all resistance is met with complacency. She makes 4 meals every night to cater to what the kids are and are not willing to eat. The food invariably goes uneaten then spills on the floor then languishes because it is impossible to sweep or mop any floor in the home.
I went over yesterday to help motivate cleaning and tried to execute on the plan I proposed that we would walk the children through the living areas of the house and identify their possessions on every single surface they can possible reside on, and ask them to identify any items of importance they would not want thrown away. Then we set a one hour timer and didn’t nag, bug, cajole, manipulate, or twist arms. I gave 15 minute incremental countdowns and then with their expectations set I went through with trash bags and put everything left on the floor into them for storage in the garage of the house in case one child determines they are missing something terribly important. I wanted to be tell them we were just throwing it all away but I wasn’t allowed.
My GF was folding laundry during this and her 5yo who was busy just making more of a mess the entire time stood on a blanket mom was folding. Mom ask child to move kindly probably 5 or 5 times and child with shit faced grin intentionally stayed put. Not because she thought it was fun, but because child knew mom didn’t like it and intentionally defied her. Mom tugs softly on blanket and child falls to ground with a shock on their face then immediately stands, and starts screaming at the top of their lungs, marches off to bedroom then starts opening and slamming (the already broken from prior instances of this) door over and over again. Mom patiently raises her voice slightly to ask child to not slam doors because that is against rules. Didn’t stop. I go to bedroom to see if I can help, and child slams door on me as I come in. I sit down in the door way very calmly and make a few non-rushed inquiries into how I can help child, and does child want to come out of the room to see mom. Child goes absolutely nuclear screaming like I have cut off an appendage. I stay calm but I stay seated in the doorway. I offer options like “i will move out of your doorway but only if you will be able to close the door softly.
After 3 minutes of child being as dramatic as they can, and understandably fully dysregulated because no ability to do self regulate emotions on their own has ever been instilled. Mom fixes big/hard emotions. Every time. Teacher gives mom feedback, “child refuses to ever do anything they don’t want to do.” So mom fills her role and tells me it’s time to let child have its way, undermining the co-regulation I was attempting to model. I stand as child continues to thrash and slam door into me, then walk away as child gets its way, my boundary be damned, and slams door hard into doorframe. I had to leave the house after that, and at this point I have zero confidence that a relationship between me and mom can work out. My home is clean, organized, ordered and boundary practice is strong. I can’t see ever co-habituating with someone who disrespects themself so much with allowing children to destroy the house and walk all over them. She texted me after to say that her child didn’t “win” and that the child just needed co-regulation.
AITAH?
** edit **
Wow I am overwhelmed with the speed and volume of responses I received. Thank you. 🙏
For clarity, mom is a doctor, baby daddy only has the kids at his own mom’s house with him as a “favor” to mom, doesn’t pay a dime of child support or child care. My kids are grown and out of the house. My boundary with dating single moms is that I will not make parenting efforts or be a parent to anyone else’s child. They have parents.
*** final update ***
The medical license she holds and the nature of her practice and education are irrelevant.
My post history and romantic past is irrelevant.
Thanks everyone for showing me that IANTA.
And special thanks to the woke mob for helping me realize that I am literally Hitler for my complicity in abusing my gf’s children by not calling CPS months ago when I first saw they live in a dirty and cluttered house with a mom whose parenting style is not mainstream.
Lest the pitchforks and torches burn the whole subreddit down, I can confidently say:
I will not be further pursuing a romantic partnership with mom and I will be directly informing her of these being the reasons why when I see her next later this week.
I will make an anonymous general report about the safety and cleanliness of the house and property in general and let CPS do with it as they will.
Once again thank you all. I only anticipated receiving maybe a handful of responses or advice, but the response was overwhelming in mainly good ways. Cheers everyone and good night!

a small tan colored stuffed bunny wearing pink footy pajamas, the buttons on the pajamas are shaped like little bunny heads. his arm is attached to a tiny yellow chick to make it look like they’re holding hands. the whole thing was kind of towel material (that’s the best way i cant describe it)
i think it was bought in the hospital lobby when i was born, im not sure, but i loved him. my childhood was really hard and im finally starting to heal, but i want the comfort my bunny brought me back. any help or recommendations on different subreddits to post this on would be helpful

2024.04.16 17:49 emmabb8 (Updated 3 years later) Every item we used for our newborn
UPDATED: 3 years and 2 kids later I made some updates to this mega list. I send this to every pregnant person I know building their registry and they find it so helpful– I hope you do too!
--
When I was pregnant I scoured the internet looking for a list like this, so I thought I'd share ours! These are the absolute essential (and a couple of non-essential) items we've used so far with our 2-month old baby girl. For some this might be excessive, for others not enough but this has worked great for our family.
*Edit to add for context: our little girl was born in early spring on the west coast of the US. I’m breastfeeding and supplementing with pumped milk & formula.
Clothes
- 3-5 swaddles/sleep sacks
- These ones are awesome for the early days! Or you can just use a blanket swaddle
- Once they get close to rolling, you’ll have to transition out of the swaddles, and you can use something like this, or this or just skip straight to sleep sacks ↓
- They’ll sleep in a sleep sack like this. My youngest lives in two sleepsacks (they’re pretty pricey, so we found them on Marketplace. We LOVE this Woolino one and Kyte for winter.
- Simple long and short sleeve onesies. (Long sleeves w/ mittens will prevent scratching.) I love Carters!
- A couple of pairs of pants with footies
- At least 7 pairs of footie pajamas with body length zippers (I love Kyte for the early days… so stretchy!!)
- People will buy you more cute outfits than you can use lol
- Socks
- Booties
- Beanies
- Sun hat
- A couple of warm jackets
- Cloth bibs for drooling/spit up
- Blankets (people will probably make you so many blankets!)
- Muslin swaddles, these are multi-purpose. I used them as a blanket, for swaddling, a burp rag in a pinch, change a diaper on, tummy time, nursing cover, etc
Diapering
- Surface for changing area (we used a dresser we had, but mostly just use the floor)
- Changing pad - we used a Keekaroo
- Portable changing pad (we have this one for the living room and to take on the go)
- Wet bag to store dirty diapers on the go. We loved ours but lost it, so now we just use a gallon ziploc
- Diapers
- Wipes (Costco has good multi-packs)
- Aquaphor (we use this at every diaper change, but others use a diaper paste)
- Diaper pail (we love this one bc it’s steel so it keeps odor in and doesn’t require special bags)
Feeding
- Burp cloths! Have many on hand, you will go through a lot.
- Formula (we use Costco brand)
- Bottles (Our lactation consultant recommended Dr. Brown's with a preemie nipple for newborns)
- Drying rack & bottle brush (my fav bottle brush)
- Breast pump (if you have insurance, apply to get covered here. Ours was covered 100%!)
- Milk storage bags (if you plan to pump, may be covered under insurance too from the link above)
- Pumping on-the-go: travel pump, sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, sanitizing bags, milk bags, ice pack, insulated coolelunch bag
- Bottle dishwasher basket, to easily wash bottles! We hand washed all of my first born’s bottles… why?!
- Bottle warmer (soooo underrated in our opinion! We were told by many we would never use it, but it gets used daily. We love ours!)
- Nursing pillow (Not totally essential– I use a pillow to use for arm support)
Sleep
- Bassinet or crib
- We got the Halo Bassinest on marketplace and it's worked well. We also have a Moses Basket out in the living room for naps and to safe place to set baby down)
- Crib sheets
- White noise machine – We love our Hatch (maybe a portable one for travel)
- Baby monitor (Video and/or audio)
- Pacifiers (Your pediatrician might have advice on type and method of use. We started with the Avent Soothies)
- Pacifier clip
- Pack n’ play for travel
- Blackout curtains
- Rocking chaiglideyoga ball
Bathing
Play/Awake time
- High contrast images, mirror, rattles, and other toys! We have the Lovevery play gym which was awesome!
- Books
- Bouncer and/or Swing
Transportation
- Diaper bag (I recommend a backpack style so you have both hands free)
- Car seat
- Stroller (We have the Evenflo Xpand Travel System)
- Now that I have two, I wish I would have opted for a single stroller that is lightweight and easy to collapse and THEN after having two got a stroller wagon for both rather than a double stroller (ours is bulky, heavy and hard to turn)
- I also wish we had a stroller with a bassinet attachment like the Uppababy - would be perfect for newborn stage
- Car mirror
- Sun shade for car window
- For the car, we have a diaper caddy with extra diapers, clothes, burp rags, toys, etc.
- Baby carriewraps
- There are so many different kinds! We have the Solly wrap, and this Graco one which we love!
Health/Safety
- Thermometer
- Tylenol
- Snot sucker (like this, or this)
- Saline spray/drops
- Humidifier
- Nail clippers (We love ours from FridaBaby.)
- Infant scale
- Not essential, but wonderful to have if you have reason to be concerned about weight like we were with both girls. We have this one.
For the birthing parent: Nursing & Postpartum
- Reusable breast pads
- Nursing tanks (or loose tanks that you can move to the side)
- Nursing bras (if you’re pumping too, get a combo, I live in these ones)
- Nipple balm & cooling gel pads
- Postpartum care: You'll also get a lot of things from the hospital which they'll let you take home. These are what I used for both vaginal births:
Things you might want to register for outside of newborn stage:
- Play pen
- High chair
- Bibs for eating (these are the best!)
- Baby dishes with a silicone base that can stick to the tray
- Activity table for when they’re sitting up. Didn’t use one with my firstborn but absolute must with second baby lol

2024.04.16 09:27 mujster safe sleep 7
im a mom of two (3 week old girl, 4 year old boy) and sleep has been nonexistent. im exclusively breastfeeding my newborn daughter, she nurses to sleep and also for comfort lots of nights. i heard about safe sleep 7 and it seems like it would be my best option to get myself the rest i do desperately need right now. overheating is my main concern with cosleeping, im a very light sleeper so i dont worry much about rolling onto the baby and our mattress isn’t super soft so i dont think it poses much of a risk. my house is kept to 74°f (23°c) at night so i’m wondering what i should dress my baby in if she could end up next to me for sleeping. i normally do a lightweight footie pajama because we do have a fan on in our room at night (not pointed at us just facing away for white noise but it does cause air circulation) and i use a breathable lightweight blanket that i’m sure to keep off of her face and really anywhere above her chest.

The first thing that caught my attention was how incredibly soft the material felt. It's made from 100% organic cotton which not only ensures comfort but also takes care of my little one's sensitive skin. The stretchy ribs add an extra layer of coziness, making sure she can move around freely while maintaining her body temperature. One fascinating detail about these pajamas is the ribbed cuffs at the wrists and ankles. They work wonders in keeping her warm during those chilly nights. Plus, they prevent the pajamas from hiking up when she plays around, saving us both a lot of fuss. However, one slight issue is that the extra stretch on the wrist cuffs tends to loosen over time, needing a little adjustment now and then. Another unique feature is the diagonal zip front. It makes dressing up or changing diapers a breeze, which is a godsend for any sleep-deprived parent. And let's not forget the non-slip bee grips on the feet, providing extra coverage and reducing the chances of slipping - a definite thumbs up for peace of mind. All in all, I would recommend these pajamas wholeheartedly. Despite the minor flaw with the wrist cuffs, our experience has been largely positive. After all, movie night just got a whole lot more comfortable with these pajamas! https://preview.redd.it/tqyszrhmjmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6ccdd9fbbcb08d31c5d225ebce485bfb59eca19 As a mom of two little ones, I've been through countless pajama sets in search of the perfect combination of comfort, durability, and style. That's why I was thrilled to discover Burt's Bees Baby Boys' Pajamas. With their stretchy rib material and ribbed cuffs at wrists and ankles, these pajamas are not only incredibly soft but also designed to move with your little one as they play and sleep. One feature that really stands out is the unique watercolor surfboard and shark print, which is both attractive and subtle enough not to overwhelm. Thanks to the 100% organic, GOTS certified cotton, these pajamas are not only gentle on sensitive skin but also breathable, making them ideal for warmer weather. However, one thing I've noticed is that the sizing can be a bit inconsistent, so it's always a good idea to double-check the size guide before making your purchase. Additionally, while the zippers are generally easy to use, they can be tricky to navigate with particularly wiggly children. Overall, I would highly recommend Burt's Bees Baby Boys' Pajamas for any family in search of high-quality sleepwear that combines comfort, style, and eco-friendliness. Despite a few minor drawbacks, these pajamas have become a staple in my household, and I have no doubt that they will continue to be a go-to choice for many years to come. https://preview.redd.it/g9smigwmjmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db167a58fca6832bc0e0d5c200475750316d8410 I recently got a chance to try Burt's Bees Baby's Herbivore Pajamas for my little one and boy, was I impressed! The vibrant dino print is not only adorable, but also helps keep nightmares at bay. The organic cotton jersey is incredibly soft, making it perfect for sensitive skin. These pajamas even have a "bee grip" feature on the feet to provide extra stability - a godsend for adventurous toddlers who love to run around. What I particularly loved about them is how snug they fit - not too tight, but not loose either. This is perfect as it shows off those chubby little thighs! Another standout for me was the diagonal zip front. It makes changing diapers in the middle of the night such a breeze. Plus, I appreciate the extra stretch on the wrist cuffs and the neckline tab that keeps curious hands away from the zipper. However, there was one issue that I encountered with these pajamas. The elastic ankles, while great at keeping footies in place, can sometimes feel a bit tight. This might be a concern if your child has sensitive skin around their ankles. Overall, I'm thrilled with these pajamas. They're comfortable, well-made, and easy to clean. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to add some cozy charm to their baby's wardrobe. https://preview.redd.it/ifecq29njmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a59a27fd1fee6c9f97d7fd49290caf7ed64ea4f I purchased a pair of Burt's Bees Baby's Starry Reindeer Organic Cotton Pajamas for my little one, and ever since they arrived, our nights have become more comfortable and cozy. The pajamas have a lovely wintery feel with the starry reindeer pattern, but what truly stands out is how soft and gentle they are on my baby's skin. The ribbed cuffs at the wrists and ankles prevent them from hiking up, keeping my baby warm all night long. One of the best features of these organic cotton pajamas is how breathable and comfortable they are. Since my baby has sensitive skin, I was initially hesitant about the fabric, but the pajamas have proven to be incredibly gentle. The added bonus of the pajamas being 100% organic and GOTS certified is a significant relief for me as a parent. The only downside I can think of is that the pajamas are slightly more expensive than other options available in the market. However, given the high-quality fabric and durability, I believe the price justifies the comfort and peace of mind that comes with using a product that is good for the environment and safe for my baby's skin. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Burt's Bees Baby's Starry Reindeer Organic Cotton Pajamas and would readily recommend them to other parents looking for high-quality, comfortable, and sustainable pajamas for their little ones. https://preview.redd.it/87edhsonjmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff1d963d90e7b18c283abc4e98150c57a70c6cd3 My little one absolutely loves their Burt's Bees comfy and snug fit pajamas. The organic cotton material is gentle on their skin, and the encased elastic waistband ensures a snug fit without feeling tight. The ribbed band at ankles and wrists keeps things in place during sleep, while the signature buzzy bee patch on the back neck and pants adds a playful touch. One major highlight is the use of 100% certified organic cotton, which makes it suitable for even the most sensitive skin and helps keep babies comfortably warm without overheating. However, some users found the pajamas to run small, so be sure to check the sizing before purchasing. Additionally, the material quality has received mixed reviews, with some users finding it rough and stiff after multiple washes. While others appreciated the cozy feel and softness that makes these pajamas perfect for bedtime cuddles. Overall, Burt's Bees baby pajamas are a comfortable and well-made option for your little one's nighttime attire. https://preview.redd.it/yvtwg80ojmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a449d1e3218bccd5e7f1225e794237b7cf436251 I recently got my hands on Burt's Bees Baby's Sushi Snacks Organic Cotton Snug Fit Pajamas for my little bundle of joy and boy, did they exceed my expectations! The playful sushi prints added a fun twist to our bedtime routine, instantly brightening up his room. The soft, organic cotton felt incredibly luxurious against his sensitive skin, ensuring a comfortable snooze all night long. One feature that stood out was the diagonal zip front. It made changing his diapers a breeze while also keeping him warm and snug. And let's not forget about the non-slip "bee grips" on each foot, providing extra security and stability during those wobbly first steps. However, I did have a small issue with the pajamas. Occasionally, the elastic ankles would roll up slightly, causing some discomfort for my child. But despite this minor inconvenience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these PJs to other parents, especially those looking for a high-quality, eco-friendly option for their little ones. Overall, Burt's Bees Baby's Sushi Snacks Organic Cotton Snug Fit Pajamas have proven to be a delightfully fun and practical addition to our family's bedtime routine, and I can't wait to see what other adorable prints they release in the future. https://preview.redd.it/e7yg3beojmsc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6615fb7b1a4c445ce5b2aac829b813145b7d2f5e I recently got my hands on a pair of Burt's Bees Baby Pajamas covered in cute donut prints. As a new mom, I'm always on the lookout for high-quality, comfortable sleepwear for my little ones. And let me tell you, these pajamas exceeded my expectations. The moment I pulled out the pajamas from the packaging, I was greeted by their vibrant colors and playful design. They're perfect for introducing your baby or toddler to the fun side of Valentine's Day. Plus, they're made from 100% organic certified cotton, ensuring durability and comfort even after repeated washes. One of the things that truly sets these pajamas apart is the super soft and stretchy ribbed fabric. It moves with your child, providing a perfect fit while keeping them warm and cozy. The ribbed cuffs at the wrists and ankles lock in warmth and prevent hiking up, ensuring a comfortable sleep for your little one. However, I did notice a minor issue with the pajamas when it came to sizing. My child is on the taller side, and although the length of the pajamas is perfect, the arm length seems slightly shorter than expected. This might not be an issue for children with shorter arms, but it's something to keep in mind if your child is taller. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Burt's Bees Baby Pajamas. The adorable design paired with the comfortable, stretchy fabric makes them a must-have for stylish and cozy bedtimes. If you're in the market for some high-quality sleepwear that's both visually appealing and comfortable, these pajamas are definitely worth checking out. Buyer's Guide Burt's Bees Pajamas are known for their comfort and softness. This buyer's guide will help you understand important features, considerations, and general advice about this product category.
