2024.06.02 06:21 TheBestAtEnglish Hi!We are Japanophile All Support Pro. Your reassuring concierge in Japan.

As your dedicated concierge during your stay in Japan, we offer three main services: "Protect Tourists From Unscrupulous Businesses," "Your Personal Concierge," and "Itinerary Optimization."
In present-day Japan, where the yen is weak, many businesses in tourist areas take advantage of inbound visitors by offering overpriced food and services. These unscrupulous businesses manipulate reviews by purchasing them or writing them themselves, making it difficult for tourists to discern the truth. As a result, many visitors end up disappointed with subpar services, even after researching online or consulting with Chat GPT. The issue of bedbugs is also a serious concern. We often hear from our partner hotels that some establishments pay to have their information removed from online bedbug maps, while many hotels with severe infestations are not even listed.
To address these issues, we invite you to submit a draft of your itinerary to us. Our Japanese staff, born and raised in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, will suggest restaurants where you can enjoy high-quality food at the same prices we pay. We can also optimize your accommodations, selecting hotels that offer easy access to your destinations, maintain high hygiene standards, and provide excellent value for money. Additionally, Tokyo's subway and train systems are among the most complex in the world, with 772 stations. Unlike online resources that only provide simple station connections and transfer information, our team knows Tokyo inside out and can optimize your travel routes during the itinerary planning stage.
Japan is a homogeneous island nation, and very few people speak English, which can make it difficult to make reservations at restaurants or for other services. However, we can handle these reservations on your behalf, eliminating any language barriers. Depending on your plan, we also offer a service where we can assist you over the phone in case of emergencies or accidents.
We provide a wide range of concierge services that cannot be fully listed here or even on our website and web app. However, we are confident that through personal consultation, we can offer you value that exceeds the price and support you in every way possible.
We offer two courses: JPY¥3,500 and JPY¥5,000. All payments are made in advance. Currently, you can pay by credit card or Apple Pay on our website. However, as our services have been approved by financial institutions, we can also accommodate various payment methods such as bank transfer, PayPal, and WeChat Pay. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
If you pay the fee, you can receive itinerary optimization even before your visit to Japan. (Concierge services start from the day of your arrival in Japan.) For more details, please visit the link below.
Until now, we have been focusing on serving Japanese businesses to establish our service foundation. As a result, we hadn't launched an Instagram account. However, now that we have a solid foundation to offer our concierge services, we have opened an Instagram account. We look forward to your follow. We also plan to release an app that will be available on the App Store this summer!

2024.06.02 06:20 Excellent_Nectarine3 Police wont investigate family violence or take statement even with clear evidence. Feeling trapped.

This is a long one, sorry. I've put my actual questions in bold at the bottom if the details are TLDR. I appreciate any advice.
I (32f) was in an incredibly abusive relationship for 2 years where I was engaged to and shared a home with my former partner (45f). Police attended our address regularly and often urged me to make a statment, I never did as I was afraid of how my ex would react when police were gone, becoming homeless as my ex owned the home and also becasue I loved her very much and thiought the relationship could be saved.
Around a year ago things hit boiling point and my ex was admitted to hospital for mental heath reasons . I took this opportunity to finally go the police and make a report. I had video evidence of a serious assualt and text messages admitting to the assault as well as admitting to/blaming the incident on being drunk which was a breach of the family safety notice in place which had the condition of not being near me/contact me if effected by alcohol.
Fast forward a year later and despite multiple attemps to follow up they still won't take a statement and no charges have been laid against my ex. I have since moved out and the relationship has ended, but my ex continues to harrass and threaten me, such as sending 200txts in a day in which they say they will come to my home and shoot dead my housemates, torments me about my previous partners suicide and says she'll do the same - eg "you like your women hanging", "kill me like you kill your other girlfriends", and continuously makes false reports to police about me, some resulting in criminal convictions but most Ive been able to prove not true - but my ex has figured out that if I have warrant or whereabouts it will prevent me from being able to make a report if I go into a police station because they have to process me first.
She has an IVO on me but has sent over 100 emails in the past month begging to get back together, but also saying that if I DONT respond she will report me to police - and she does, just says I sent her a message or showed up at her house and ill get arressted, sometimes charged and sometimes not, depending on the police at the time really.
During the past year I have made multiple attemps to report the abuse, on one occasion I was able to show them the abusive messages with the threats to kill and threats to self harm if I did not message her back, but they have done nothing about that either.
Last time I called to follow up they told me they could not tell me anything over the phone and that I would have to go into a station to get any info about the investigation, but that sounds like bullshit to get me into the station for what I assume to be another false report made agaisnt me.
I would usually go in and just deal with it but Ive recently had major surgury and been diagnosed with heart failure (which im certain has been brought on by the extreme levels of stress and anxiety over the past 3 years, strangulations, beatings and immense greif and sadness I feel when forced to relive my partners death, and also the ending of the relationship with my most current ex, as stupid as it is I love her more than anything and miss her everyday).
I'm reluctant to risk arrest and possible remand as Ive learned no one takes me seriously when saying I have heart failure as a 32 year old, and it;s something that can easily go from 0 to 100 and possibly kill me.
But life has become unbearable, Im finding it hard to see the point in life if this is all there is. Things only get worse no matter what I do, I cant move forward, I cry everyday, ive pushed away all my freinds, I don't leave my house, I know it doesn't seem important but I can;t cope with the injustice, everytime Im arrested, charged, put in a cell, plead guilty or stay in a cell for weeks to fight it all, it's like ive edured this torture for 3 years, and now I am also being punished for it and painted as a perpetrator which is almost worse in a way. Nothing happens to her, she even got some sort of payment when she got the IVO on me. It's fucking unbelieveable how this has panned out. I need to report her and have her held accountable or she will never stop. Believe me or not, I don't deserve this, I don't, Im not perfect, but I don't deserve whats happening to me, I just want to be left alone, I want to be able to plan a future for myself.
My questions:
Police wont take me seriously even with evidence and witnesses of serious assaults and abuse, how do I get them to listen to me?
Do police need to tell me, if I ask over phone, if they have any outstanding warrants or whereabouts that would see me arrested if I went to the police station?
Is it true that they cannot update me over the phone about their "investigation" and that I have to go to a station?
What else can I do to help myself? Is there anyone out there that can help me?

2024.06.02 06:17 VpstartCrow Where to Start? Trying to figure out a non-profit's accounting system

I know this is going to be vague, but I am coming into a non-profit on a temporary basis while they look for a new Accountant in an attempt to help them out after their accountant quit without notice, and there is very little knowledge of what she was doing inside Quickbooks. There are outside systems (AR and AP transaction 3rd party software, as well as an external database for members of the non-profit). But the accountant was the only one doing anything with Quickbooks. There are balances, there's a COA, there's a couple years of transactions.
But I have been there a few days and I'm just having a hard time understanding how she (actually her predecessors) set up the systems. The AR account has a credit balance. There are three Undeposited Funds accounts - two have debit balances, one has a credit balance. And two of them have over $1 million balances. The non-profit members do exist inside QB as customers, but their dues payments haven't been assigned to any dues payables in QB. The member records are accurate outside QB in the database. There's just a lot of stuff that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
I have a few ideas on how I can try to unravel the situation a little, but I have little experience with Quickbooks. so I'm looking for any low hanging fruit, any tips on how to get started figuring out what's actually going on. How and/or why the system was set up the way it was. I can't really give more detail than that, and reaching out to the previous accountant hasn't brought any success yet. So if you have some ideas, I'm listening. Thanks, all!
Also, I have accounting knowledge but this situation really has me scratching my head. For all I know, everything the accountant did makes sense - just not to me. This is both an accounting question and/or a Quickbooks question, so I'm going to post in both subs.

2024.06.02 06:13 nidiform Contiune absolute no contact or break that to restate that I want no contact?

Mostly a rant, but also looking for any advice on how to deal with continuing to move forward. Unsure if I need to restate no contact or to just continue to stay silent and keep blocking. What has worked or not worked for you?
In December, I discovered my now ex had been hiding a drug addiction, I went lowish contact until Jan as I wanted to still be a support for him but the psychological and emotional manipulation during that time led to me officially ending things.
Went quietly no contact until the end of March when he suddenly showed up and attempted to enter my home. I firmly stated that I want no further contact with him. Blocked his number and on all socials.
At the start of May a friend had mentioned that she had been in contact with my ex James. I stated I was uncomfortable with that, she minimised and justified his behaviour, my intinal temporary step away from that friendship will now be permanent based on how that conversation unfolded. I'm disappointed but maintaining my peace is more important.
I felt sure that her contacting him, would be encouragement in his mind that he did nothing wrong and would increase the likelihood of contacting me again.
Two weeks later and I received an email from him that was all over the place asking for a recommendation for lawyer, I blocked him there.
Another two weeks later and I receive another email. This time from his "mom", who I've previously had no contact with, "asking on his behalf" for the name of the lawyer I used, blocked that account. Later that same day I see a notification someone has liked my google review of that lawyer, it felt creepy, maybe I'm paranoid, I've since deleted that review.
I attended the police station and explained the situation and they took down his details, but wouldn't offer any further assistance other than to just keep blocking him and file privately for a restraining order. I've found the court system here more traumatic than helpful and am not willing to put myself through that level of stress.
It's been over now for as long as the relationship existed. I'm tired. I just want to be left alone. I worry that he's going to show up at my workplace or my home unannounced.
I'm annoyed he continues to feel entitled to cross boundaries and try to involve me in whatever nonsense and chaos he's created for himself.

2024.06.02 06:08 Terrible_North_7918 Lessons I learned during my first year of eng!

Hey! Ik a lot of the incoming first year engineering students have accepted their offers recently (congrats!) and I thought this may be of use for you guys and some of these can go for any first year student honestly. I learned so so much during my first year and would love to share if it even benefits one person!
- every percent helps! A lot of your mark will be based off the midterm and final, but most classes have room to gain marks in quizzes and homework. Although each one may be worth small (for ex. in pcs each hw is work 0.5%), don't get in the habit of slacking off and overlooking those. Those percents add up and can help you pass your course esp if you do poorly on major assessments. it can be very easy to skip or forget them in the midst of midterm season, but you future self will thank you when your calculating your grade at the end of the semester. Plus its a great way to stay sharp and caught up!
- join clubs. everyone says this but its for a reason!!!! It is an excellent way to meet upper years and learn from them, as well as gain skills and opportunities that set you apart from peers. You can also add it to your LinkedIn and climb up the exec ladder if you stick to the same clubs over the years. This is the best thing I could've done my first year. Although it can be challenging managing them along your classes, even joining one or two positions can help make yourself well rounded. Some examples are MUES positions, FYEO fyc, IEEE, WiE, BMES, MECU, ECEstorms, CECU and literally SM more.
- design teams. on the topic of clubs, design teams esp are something I wish I joined but hope to in my second year. Design teams are amazing because they allow you to contribute to physical projects and use the concepts you are taught in your classes! They're also great because you can add these projects to your resume and linkendin.
- find good friends/study group. It can be overwhelming and scary in the beginning to make friends, and it does take time to build those relationships. However I highly recommend you put yourself out there and out your comfort zone even if it is just talking to someone while waiting outside of a lecture. I cannot stress enough how beneficial a supportive friend/group can be for your entire degree! You guys can hang out between classes, lock in and study together, they can be there to help you/teach the things you don't understand, hold you accountable when you slack off, hype you up and push you to seek new oppurtunites, and make sm memories. don't be scared about meeting new people, it is a lot easier than you think esp bc everyone is on the same boat in first year and looking for friends! Joining clubs as I mentioned is a great way, as well as talking to the people in your tutorials/labs and inviting them to get a bite or drink with you!
- hold your self accountable. You know yourself best and you know when you are slacking off, when you are doing something you shouldn't be, when you can be doing better than you are, etc. University is not like hs where you have a teacher or figure to hold you accountable, you need to do that for yourself. Eng is not easy, you need to know when it's time to study or put in effort because spoiler alert, you need both to succeed. you cannot expect to pass or have good grades if you are only going to lectures and not reviewing, doing your hw, or studying. and holding yourself accountable throughout the sem can make studying for finals and midterms easier for you.
- be careful using chatgpt, bc you will become dependent on it. Ai is definitely a helpful tool than can be used to answer specific questions and spark new ideas, however use it cautiously. Pushing and using your brain is so good for you, however access to gpt and ai can make it seem like an easy fix. It is, but all I am saying is don't use it for everything, don't use it when you have the answers in your notes or textbook, don't use it if you have time to work it out/think on it. you do not want to become one of those brain rot individuals that cannot think and speak for themself thats all.
- save your money. I wish I'd hear this before but it is incredibly easy to blow off money in your first year esp at tmu. There are food and shopping places in every corner, so if you have the money/savings it's easy to get in the habit of buying food or a sweet treat every day. Many of us aren't working during school either. Just remember that each course you take cost money, if you need to take it again or online it cost money, your homework textbooks and lab equipment often costs money, and if you are on osap you will need money to pay it back! just be careful 🥲
- chang policy. I had to learn this one the hard way too. If you would like to take a course virtually through chang the refund policy is NOT the same as in person courses. If you change your mind about the course and want a full policy, you need to drop the course 5 BUSINESS DAYS before it begins if you want a full refund. I dropped a course 4 business days before and had to pay 50% for a course I did not take.
- time management because the workload is intense. engineering is not easy but time management can make your degree manageable and not feel impossible. it may be hard to find the routine and flow that works for you, but if I can give any advice while you do it is to make use of the time you have when you have it. Use resources like a planner, google cal, to-do lists, reminders etc to stay on top and make time for everything. being able to manage your time can save you a lot of panic and stress in midterm and final season. although the workload can get overwhelming, break your tasks down and take it day by day, but make sure you get done what you need too.
- start group projects early, especially CEN100. you will encounter many group projects during your first year, and most of the important ones happen near the end of the semester. I highly suggest you urge you and your group to get started or at least plan/break down tasks early, ideally from the get go when it is assigned. trying to coordinate with group members who are all busy with the end of the semester can be difficult and makes room for conflict to arise. not to mention starting early gives you time to seek help and critique from your TA. if you need to be that person, hold the group accountable and make sure you guys do not leave it for last min.
- don't compare yourself. everyone comes from different educational and social backgrounds. for some it may come as a shock to be surrounded by people who are as smart as you if not probably smarter. it is so easy to compare yourself and your success to others and it can easily become discouraging. just know that although you will meet people doing great while you may be near flunking, everyone is still struggling and finding it difficult. they may have different learning styles from you that makes it easier for them to learn new material, or they may have come from a school/background where they have already learned it. that doesn't mean you can't get to that level tho, for some it just takes some extra effort and that is okay.
- connect with your TA's and profs and build a relationship with them. You won't always come across a friendly or dedicated instructor, but if you feel you you have give them the chance to get to know and remember you, go to office hours and your tutorials even if they are optional. chances are they may be willing to give you advice or insight on what is on the midterm/final, or they could be the reason your mark has been boosted enough for you to pass. this is not always the case, but it often is.
- it will be a learning curve and takes time to adjust. as much as people can advise and warn you, you won't know what you are getting yourself into until you are actually in it. university for most people is a whole different ball park, let alone an engineering degree. you likely may not find your circle, your flow and your space right away and that is okay, it is part of the process that sets you up to be the best engineer you can be one day. some may be able to adjust quicker than others but just be patient with yourself, if you need to break up for your year into the spring/summer sem so be it. they say the first year of eng is the hardest bc it is such a large jump from high school, but remember it isn't impossible, so many people have done it and so can you. be kind with yourself, and use the many many resources that are available for your success.
- stay caught up in your classes to avoid burnout during midterm and exam season. one of my biggest regrets is missing so much class after midterms and having to cram for finals. Up until my midterms for both semesters I was caught up and following along in everything which made studying less time consuming bc I was already familiar with most the material, it was just filling in the gaps and practicing. Finals nearly took me out bc of the amount of cramming I had to do before I could even get to studying. not to mention seeing the material multiple times will make it stick better by logic. falling behind is common, but don't let it get too far because it truly is very hard to come back from. try to study as you go through the semester, and review/practice the lessons regularly. do not let the material leave your brain as soon as you learn it.
- it is okay to fail. many of us come from being high achievers in high school and getting above average grades. but you will come to learn that grades in the 45-60 range is normal. it is not the end of the world if you fail a course, especially in your first year. you are not dumb, you are not a failure, you are not letting anyone down. failing a course or two is normal and fairly common at least once during this degree. as a first year there is a lot of leeway and room for success, so you can just take it the next sem or the spring.
- make time for your family. this mostly goes for the commuters, but it can be difficult to make time for them especially when the semester ramps up. you may find yourself locked up in your room or coming home late from a library study sesh. but for many people they are your support system and even taking an hour away from your work to spend time with them and be a breath of fresh air and much needed to feel connected to them.
- go to student events! there are genuinely SO MANY that run throughout the year especially for us. I highly recommend to you to as many conferences as you can, GVIC, the WiE if you are female, the one from FYEO and more from MUES. these are great to make industry connections, learn things you don't learn in class, you can make friends, network, and grow yourself professionally. there are other more fun and chill student events that run too that can be great to destress during the sem and wind down with your friends.
- learn to make use of your time if your commute. Many of us who take the go have quite long commutes that can make it feel like a chunk of our day is gone. Something to help with that is just learning to manage the travel time and get something done. This can be being productive and study, taking a power nap, winding down/screen time before locking in at home, have lunch/dinner, making phone calls, etc. Plan your day out and what you are going to do during that commute time, it can truly help structure your day sm better.
- split your chegg. if you really need to buy it (its great for CHY homework and PCS) find some reliable and not snitchy friends and split it so its cheaper. although again, be careful using such tool incase you become dependent on it. it is a tool not solution, use it to learn how to do questions you don't have examples on, but still make sure you do most the hw for practice etc.
- don't get in the habit of skipping class. everyone says this yet we all do it. but I feel like I still need to include this since I have tasted my own medicine from skipping so much. its fine to skip here and there but don'ttttt make it a habit bc it is near impossible to break. its starts with one class, and then you skip the next one bc you didn't catch up and you're gonna be lost either way, and then it snowballs from there. its okay if you aren't caught up from previous missed lectures. just go, even if you just sit there and pay attention without taking notes. you will eventually catch up if you go, but letting it become a habit is just cutting yourself short and holding you back from sm academic success.
- don't overlook the easy classes. they WILL be your mark booster but you still need to put in the effort. for me they were CEN100, CHY102, my liberals, and CPS188. If you care about your gpa make sure you put effort into these classes bc they are very easy to do well in and will boost your gpa.
- its okay to feel imposter syndrome. I went through this a lot and felt like eng was not for me at many times because I would get in the habit of comparing myself. I don't think I felt like I belonged or felt like I was where I was supposed to be until the winter sem. as I mentioned it can take time to find your space but you will eventually. try to remember why you went into eng in the first place, and if it was just money joining clubs/going to eng events can help you find passion or belonging in it again. at the end of the day just trust your gut. if you truly truly feel like you can't see yourself working as an engineer maybe you could reconsider. but if you can but you are just struggling, I promise the imposter syndrome is normal but it will go away.
- NO all nighters. this is coming from someone who has pulled one too many this year and regrets it every single time. I feel like we all know this by now but just prioritize your sleep guys, this again comes down to time management but get enough sleep helps you SO MUCH to learn and digest all the material. you may be able to stay awake physically but you brain needs the rest. and ESPECIALLY DONT PULL ALL NIGHTERS BEFORE EXAMS. So many times this sem have I experience the worst brain fog of my life from doing this, you start to forget the most basic of things and concepts you may have perfected. it can be so easy to overlook our sleep but it truly is so important. don't sacrifice it, if you need to take the L bc you didn't study enough just take it, bc honestly studying more ahead would've saved you if you feel like you need to miss your sleep to cram.
- don't buy a single textbook. the only time you should is PCS and CHY bc it comes with the homework which you need to buy. other than that don't you can find it all online for free either on Anna's archive, the eng gcs or upper years.
- be prepared for midterms. tbh nothing could've prepared me, it is intense. esp if you are taking the full course load. the learning does not stop when midterms roll around, you will still have fast paced lectures, still have hw, still have regular quizzes and projects on top of studying for midterms. It can honestly feel suffocating in the midst of it and extremely overwhelming, but again this is where time management comes to play, use planning resources, and set yourself up for success from the very beginning of the sem. the biggest mistake people make is skipping lectures during midterms, because let me tell you, you will not make the time to catch up during midterm season, and even when it is over you are likely quite far behind or near finals. try your self to ensure you keep going to your classes during it. ALSO, make sure you study well for your midterms, for many people they do better on the midterm than the final so allocating those grades from the midterm is a great idea.
- check your emails! there are so many opportunities and resources that get sent to your inbox. this includes free tutoring, study halls, event details, on campus paid opportunities, club hirings etc.
- take care of yourself. like sm other things it can be so easy to overlook your basic needs and let yourself go. whether that be skipping meals or eating fast food alllllll the time, not sleeping, not showering and doing laundry, not giving yourself free time, etc, you need to look after yourself because no one else will. and the only way you can do well is ensuring you yourself are well. feed yourself healthy and balanced meals, get enough sleep, PLEASE SHOWER AND USE DEODORANT (the stereotype is in fact true), and take yourself outside on walks and with your loved ones. don't lose yourself along the way, it is all about balance.
- do not drop linear algebra in the fall. just listen to me on this one. even if you absolutely BOMB the midterm, don't get scared by it and decide to drop it. this happens essentially every year, and they usually, every year, make the final much easier and straight forward than the midterm is so it IS possible to pass. at the end of the day all you need is a 50 and it is very doable if you have the quiz/hw grades secured (free marks for most people) and study well for the final. try to get profs like majed and wang bc if you are near passing they may boost you enough too. and even if you did fail, so be it that is fine, you can take it in the winter but atleast you gave it youre all and said you tried but chances are you will pass. I say this bc the winter sections for linear algebra ive heard are much harder than the fall, although I think they curve at the end, it is a lottttt more theoretical and confusing so I recommend you push yourself for the fall and see where that takes you.
Anddddd I think that's all! I know that was a lot and maybe overwhelming but I hope it was insightful. if you have any questions or worries feel free to comment or pm.

2024.06.02 06:03 FutureAristocrat A bounty hunter discovers a catgirl.

Logan the bounty hunter was in a really bad mood.
It all started when the coffee machine stopped working. This wasn’t a rare occurrence; in fact, it was the third time this cycle, but this time his go-to solution (taking out and reinserting the star powder battery) didn’t fix it, and he was all out of ideas.
It’s not that the caffeine even did anything for him. The nanomachines in his system filtered out many sorts of potentially addictive or harmful substances, and for some reason this included caffeine, which is a fact he only realized after the seven-cycle refund period had passed.
Still, it was an old habit and an act of comfort that he sorely felt the absence of.
That was the first thing. The second thing was that his tracker had stopped working. In fact, his entire connection to the galactic wide web (gww) had gone down. Without the tracker, he couldn’t pinpoint the exact location of his current bounty—a low-class deathworlder wanted for kidnapping and trafficking—which kind of made his whole bounty hunting business difficult to do.
Oh, and his ship had crashed.
Damn thing was overdue for maintenance, and the autopilot had started malfunctioning while flying over a small dusty-brown planet. It had taken some careful manual maneuvering and some buffeting about in the planet’s whirlwind atmosphere, but eventually he had managed the miracle of walking away from a smoking and unsalvageable wreckage with only minor cuts and bruises.
Here he was now, trudging through the sandy windswept dunes of a planet that hadn’t even showed up on the map. Armed with little more than a spacesuit, a blaster, and an undying will. And wishing he’d had that cup of coffee (and wasn’t immune to caffeine).
Logan raised a hand to his eyes, peering through the thick glass of his visor. There was so much dust and sand swirling around that it made it quite hard to see where he was going, not that there were any landmarks in sight anyway. It looked scorching hot outside, though his spacesuit registered a cool 286 Kelvin for some reason. Likely another malfunction, one that he’d rather not put to the test.
On a planet like this, he supposed, everyone (if anyone was even here) probably lived under the surface where it was probably cooler and probably free from sandstorms. All he had to do was find the entrance to their underground tunnels among all this shifting sand.
The chance of that happening was, unfortunately, not very high. Still, Logan wasn’t panicking yet; he’d been through worse, he thought. He’d been through jungles teeming with 8-foot beetles. Survived massive hiveminds circling to entrap him, faced slippery slimes that reformed their bodies to resemble those he held dearest. Horrible learning experiences, those.
That being said, sometimes it’s the mundane problems that pose the greatest threats of all. Starvation, aching thirst, and a dwindling oxygen supply while wandering a barren desert. It wouldn’t be a glamorous way to go out, and Logan was wracking his brain for ideas.
Now would’ve been a good time to use his rescue beacon, if he had one. This would be his, what, 127th bounty? And until now, he’d never had to use a beacon. Stopped carrying one a dozen bounties ago. Maybe it was just luck, but things had always gone pretty smoothly, and maybe he’d gotten a little overconfident.
Logan knelt down and grasped at the ground, watching the little grains of sand sift through his gloved fingers. Those little specks seemed to shimmer and flicker, like a low quality hologram call. Otherwise, though, they seemed normal; surprisingly similar to the sand he remembered from Earth. It made sense that some things remained the same throughout the universe; it’s not like every planet could re-invent the periodic table, after all. Even aliens had to remain grounded in reality, however loosely.
He looked down. According to his suit’s display, he had a few hours of oxygen left. He’d been walking for a while now with nothing but the sands to show for it. He also had to pee. It was really going quite terribly.
“It looks like you’re doing quite terribly,” a voice said, velvety and welcoming. Logan jerked his head up, blinking rapidly in surprise.
Standing before him, with crossed arms and a smoldering look, was a lithe, dusky-furred humanoid. They—or she, judging by the feminine face—was wearing a long, thin shawl translucent enough to reveal a pair of twitching, swiveling ears and a questioningly arced tail, swaying in the wind.
The feline features were unmistakable. It was, by all accounts, a catgirl.
Mentally, Logan pumped his arm and jumped for joy. Just wait until the guys back at Earth heard about this! Many a novice pilot first set out for the stars with dreams of catgirls and other alien babes in mind, but thus far, most alien species had been decidedly strange and eerily-shaped, though this didn’t stop everyone from pursuing them. Outwardly, though, he nodded, and rasped, “I could use some help. Do you know about this thing called ‘oxygen’?”
The catgirl frowned. “Great way to say hi to a girl. But yes, you aren’t the first traveler to crash-land on Shaw Prime. Follow me.”
“Oh, great,” Logan said. How convenient. “Where to?”
“My people live underground, hidden from the elements within a complex system of—”
“Tunnels? I knew it.”
The catgirl turned around and whipped her tail against Logan’s leg. It kind of stung for a moment. “I don’t know what culture you come from, traveler, but in mine, it’s rude to interrupt someone while they’re speaking. Especially if they’re the host and you, the guest.”
Logan rubbed the back of his head (or tried to, but the spacesuit got in the way). “Sorry. Just got excited. Interrupting someone speaking is actually considered rude in my culture, too.”
“So you should’ve known better.” The catgirl harrumphed and started marching forward, waving her tail to signal him to follow. He shrugged and started trudging along behind her.
“So where am I, exactly? ‘Shoe Prime’ you said earlier, I think?”
“Shaw Prime,” she corrected. “A small sand planet on the outermost reaches of the nearest solar system. Quite uninhabitable for most, and all our visitors arrive unwillingly.”
“I see. It certainly feels inhospitable. And,” Logan said, jumping in place a couple times, “you’ve got decently strong gravity, though less than where I come from. You know, this feels like at least a minor deathworld to me.”
“The term ‘deathworld’ is new to me, but it does seem fitting enough.”
“Right. I’m guessing the Galactic Federation hasn’t gotten around to marking your planet yet. Actually, your planet didn’t even show up on my map; people might not even know that civilization exists here. Huh.” It would be the first time for Logan to discover a new species. He could report this back home, and hopefully get handsomely rewarded for it.
“The ‘Galactic Federation’? I haven’t heard that term before. What does it mean?”
“That’s the big alliance formed by all the space-faring species of the known universe. They’re basically responsible for everything, including first official contact with new species like yours.” Logan paused a moment. “Wait, you said I’m not the first traveler to land here, right? How have you not heard of the Galactic Federation before?”
The catgirl’s ears twitched, but she didn’t look back. “They must have neglected to mention it.”
“Weird. Surely someone must’ve mentioned it. The Federation’s got these rules for first contact, see, and—”
“We’re almost there.” The catgirl interrupted, glancing back at him with those smoky eyes. “The hidden entrance to the tunnels lies just ahead.”
Logan peered through his visor. Ahead of his guide’s slim figure, he saw nothing but more of the same brown hues. A sudden uneasiness prickled his skin. “Where? I don’t see anything.”
“If you could see it, it wouldn’t be very hidden, would it? Come on.”
She beckoned him forward, and a few paces later, stopped entirely. She crouched down and scrabbled at the sand a few times, revealing a circular wooden hatch buried under a thin layer of sand. It didn’t look that heavy, but she grunted and strained to lift it up with her paws, revealing a dark cavern down inside.
“In you go,” she said, pointing her tail at the hole.
Something about this didn’t sit right with Logan. Maybe it was the way her fur stood warily on end, the way her ears shivered every so often. Maybe it was the fact that his guide didn’t know about the Galactic Federation, yet seemed familiar enough with travelers to communicate with ease. Sure his universal translator helped, but that was only supposed to work with discovered species, not ones that had yet to be contacted and researched. Or maybe it was just that he didn’t like jumping into suspiciously dark holes in the ground.
There was also the fact that the temperature gauge in his suit was now measuring a chilly 270 Kelvin. A far cry from the heat suggested by the sun-baked sands he saw.
He had a guess where this was going, and he didn’t like it, not one bit.
“Say,” he said, conversationally. “I noticed your hologram flickering earlier. Think you need some maintenance.”
“What?” The catgirl said, raising a dusky eyebrow. “I don’t know what that is. Won’t you go inside?”
“I’m just saying. It’s a convincing show and all, promise, but once you’ve been in the biz long enough, you start noticing small details like flickering sand and mismatched temps.”
“Look at you. All the heat must’ve gone to your head.” She said, sidling up to him. There was a sudden yet subtle shift in her demeanor, so quick that he almost didn’t notice. Her eyes lowered, her tongue darted out to lick her nose, and she placed one foot in front of the other gracefully, retracing her own steps perfectly. She approached him, casually curling her tail around his leg, sending tingles up his spine.
“Poor, weary traveler. It must’ve been tough, sailing through space all on your own. Won’t you come inside and rest a while?” She purred, tugging him gently towards the open hatch. “Quickly, before the sand covers it again.”
He inched a hand towards the blaster hanging at his side, unmoved by the obvious act. “Does the word ‘gelatinous’ mean anything to you?”
Her eyes locked onto his hand, her tail going stiff behind her. “Not as such, no. Why don’t we discuss this inside? After you, of course.”
“Of course. I’ll be on my way, then.”
Logan said, shoving her away, leaping back, and unholstering his blaster, all in one practiced motion. She landed softly on all fours, hissed, then sprang at him, fast as lightning. He raised an arm to block, pulling up his blaster and aiming it at her center mass. At the same time, she skidded to an abrupt halt before him, half-crouching as one hand darted past his arm without a sound.
They both froze. Logan’s blaster trained on her torso, her claws nearly piercing his neck. It seemed they were at a deadlock.
Wait, Logan thought to himself. I have a spacesuit.
His fingers itched on the trigger, but in that same instant, he heard a small tearing sound as a single claw slipped through several layers of synthetic polymers, Kevlar, and silica fiber to rest itself pointedly against the actual skin of his neck. A small hissing sound indicated the oxygen leaking from the new hole in his suit.
“That’’s a sharp knife you’ve got.” He said, feeling his mouth drying up.
“It’s not a knife,” she said smugly, though her raised fur betrayed her wariness.
“Enough of these illusions, okay? I’ve seen through ‘em. We’re not in a desert, and you’re not a catgirl. I’ve met your kind before—shape-shifting, amorphous slimes, always taking the form of something I love. Usually it’s my late wife or a dear friend, but pretending to be a catgirl is taking it too far.” He sniffed.
She hmphed, and said, “You’re only half-right, outworlder.” She let out a trilling sound, and a moment later, the world flickered out of existence.
With the veil lifted, Logan could see the world for what it really was. Gone were the tan-brown desert and the shifting sands. In their place was a world of ash. White and grey specks drifted through a sunless sky, cold and desolate. Looking down, he saw that his feet were buried ankle-deep in the stuff. So the feeling of sand had been real, sort of. He wondered what it was made of.
Dreading what he would see, he raised his eyes once more, only to see the same catgirl shivering in her shawl before him.
“This is what I actually look like,” she said, pricking her claw against his neck. “Now how about dropping that gun and sticking your hands in the air?”
“So catgirls are real.” Logan wondered aloud, feeling hope swelling in his chest.
“I… guess?” She seemed uneasy about the way he looked at her. “So about that gun—"
“What is this place?” He asked, prodding his blaster against her stomach. “I’m pretty sure it looked like a desert world from outside. Don’t tell me you have some, some kind of planet-wide hologram going on. That would be… I don’t know, prohibitively expensive, and very concerning.”
“Yes,” she said, straight-faced. “The hologram covers the whole solar system, in fact. We are at the center of a powerful criminal empire spanning the galaxy. The white ash is made from cremating the corpses of all who have dared to oppose us, and soon you will join their ranks.”
“Woah, really?” Logan said, raising an eyebrow. They must deal in trafficking, then.
“No, I lied. Although, usually that gets a bigger reaction out of outworlders. Now come on, you can surrender now or wait until my backup gets here, and then it’ll get messy. You choose.”
“I think I’ll wait for more catgirls to show up, thanks.”
She hissed. “It’s your lucky day. Here they are now, actually.”
From behind mountains of ash, they plodded forwards. All varieties of colors, from dusky to snow-white to calico, but all sporting the same unmistakable ears and tails. Logan’s heart beat with excitement, until he noticed the strange metal tubes being pointed at him from all angles.
“Ah, am I correct in assuming that those are your planet’s version of blasters?”
The catgirl retracted her claw from his neck and nodded in confirmation. “They’ll blast a big hole right through you.” She stretched her arms and yawned wide, letting herself relax now that her reinforcements were here.
Logan dropped the blaster to his side. “Well, shit.” Surrounded by armed enemies on all sides, he had no choice but to obey.
It was then that he had a really stupid idea. One that would probably get him killed, but which would be really funny if it worked.
His blaster had a laser scope that shined a visible red dot on his target when toggled on. An attached laser pointer, in other words. If these catgirls were anything like the felines he knew on Earth…
Hell, it was worth a shot.
[To be continued? Or maybe not. I didn’t know how to end this, and I felt pretty silly writing it :c]

2024.06.02 06:01 wikidgawmy Lifetime INTP Lessons Learned

It's a slow Saturday, so here are just a few of the random things I've thought of and some of the lessons learned over the decades. A lot of them are just abbreviated thoughts where I actually have a far more comprehensive explanation, but Reddit isn't really the place for long form essays. So this is just my hyper-abbreviated and incomplete pocket guide for INTPs that I wrote really quickly and probably didn't elaborate in all the places I should have.
In no particular order:
  1. Never trust a coworker, and never talk to them about what you think of the job or anyone on it, ever. Anything you say can and will be used against you. See, hear, and speak no evil.
  2. Calculate your monthly expenses and some extra for entertainment, and save the rest. Either learn to invest in the stock market or real estate - maybe Crypto? I dunno. Interest rates in a savings account just don't cut it.
  3. Learn public speaking. It will seriously reduce social anxiety, and will let you feel confident and not care about what other people think. Not just once or twice, but over and over and over until you acclimate. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  4. Accept that you are not a good bottom level employee. Your moron manager doesn't care about your bachelor's of philosophy or history, your knowledge of WWI, your creative and analytical thinking, or your encyclopedic knowledge of the parts of the brain or your understanding of Jungian concepts. They want a mindless ass kissing drone, and that's not you.
  5. Specialize. INTPs are not the "work up from the mail room to the board room" types, that requires too much ass kissing, and pretending to care about mundane detail oriented tasks. Figure out a career path that will let you ultimately specialize through education, or another path (I found education to be easier because I'm too lazy to do it on my own). You want to be the authority/master, INTPs make terrible employees, so position yourself outside that structure as the expert.
  6. Figure out what you want to do and how to make money when you're young, and work your ass off, so when you're 40 or 50 you can take it easy. Don't look for shortcuts or avoiding work when you're 25, because if you do, you'll be fucked later in life.
  7. Most people won't understand you, and because 95% of what we do is hidden in our head, a lot of people will think you're stupid or at best a curiosity. Just don't fuck up and marry the wrong person.
  8. Do stuff for people when you have nothing better to do. Someone needs a ride to the airport or needs help moving and you have nothing to do? Help. It's easier to build a big network of friends by helping - you don't need to be sociable and talkative and working to maintain relationships. It's a shortcut to making friends. If you can help, do, if you can't or don't want to, don't. Don't be one of those pricks who doesn't want to but does it anyway, and then bitches and moans for weeks after. On that same note, go to the parties and bars and get togethers you are invited to. Otherwise eventually you'll find yourself not getting invited, and posting on reddit or talking to a therapist about how to meet people.
  9. Be logical and rational. Too many people have been taken over by the cordyceps brain fungus of the Red and Blue religions, with ready-made answers to every question that could ever be asked. Throw that shit out immediately. Pay attention to yourself - if someone says something and you have a physical reaction and a talking point immediately chambered, that's a sign you have been infected with a parasitical brain fungus of ideology. You should think about every single thing independently and based on its own merits. Never let the Blue or Red fungal religions infect your brain. As an INTP, you should always be functioning in Kahneman's "System 2". Ask yourself what narrative is being pushed, and explore the reasons behind the narrative. Always work backwards to the very, very core of the issue, that's where you'll find the answer, and that's when you'll really see the ideological narrative and understand why it was created. Almost always, by the time something has become ideological narrative, the entire reason for its existence is forgotten; there is a lot to learn by digging up the origins. And nothing is ever black and white, nuance is real, nuance is important, nuance matters more than anything. If you are unable to see nuance, you are the problem.
  10. Always remember, your favorite politician despises you, and your favorite political party is out to maintain and power, expand power, make a ton of money, and help you the citizen as little as possible; just enough to keep you from realizing you're being fucked.
  11. Find a good checklist app. Every single thing I think I need or want to do that I ever think of goes on that checklist, and when I have nothing to do, I'll go down the list and pull off some easy things and do them. Use a good calendar app, and put everything on it with email reminders (I use Google Calendar), I always get email reminders the previous day and hours before I need to be somewhere or go do something. I would be lost without these things.
  12. Don't ever regret things. Whatever path you chose was the only choice you would have ever made in that moment. No other choice was possible, it was the result of everything that led up to it. So don't worry about it, don't regret it. Move on.
  13. Read books. Read actual, physical books, or at least a kindle. Read lots of them, as many as you can, preferably before the age of 30. It's how you build a model of the world, a broad knowledge base, critical thinking skills, and effective BS detection skills. Wikipedia is your enemy. It's a false god that gives you a superficial understanding in true Dunning-Kruger fashion. Not reading in depth leaves one open to infection by ideology and gives one a false sense of knowledge.

Original Post Apr 27, 2024
Throwaway account as my husband and In-laws are follow my main. I, 29 F, have been married to my husband, 30 m, who I'll call Alex. Alex and I met in college during our freshman year. We started off as just friends, and got married seven months ago. I've gotten along with his family, but we aren't super close but we're friendly enough. The problem is that Alex has begun to make me incredibly uncomfortable.
Firstly, he's begun to ask me who I'm meeting with, where, what we plan on doing, how long every single time I leave the house without him. At first, I just thought he was being protective and a good partner just in case something happened, but then he started checking my phone after the visits, vetting and researching each of my friends as well.
He also has been pursuing me to link my bank account to his, as he's "in charge" of the finances when he was perfectly fine with keeping them separate before. We fight about it almost every day.
Finally, yesterday when he was preparing to go on a work trip for two weeks in California, he demanded I wear a tracker so he could keep and eye on me while he's gone. I can't do this anymore, I feel like I'm suffocating and his family who I've spoken to about his worrying behavior just said he's being careful and protective as a good husband should. I need to gather my things together and find a way to be gone before he gets home without tipping him off.
He's always threatened that if he ever found me cheating on him he'd turn in divorce papers the same day. He keeps a filled out copy in his desk. I'm going to submit those the day I leave. But there's so much to do, bergen finding a new place to live, seeing if my job has any transfers available, packing and moving in two weeks. His return flight May 11th, so I need to move quickly. I'm posting here because I don't have any close family, and I can't risk dragging my friends into this as we share the same friends.I just needed a place to vent, and ask if anyone has any advice on the easiest and safest way to do this?
Edit: oh my god you guys are amazing! I never even thought to not use his divorce papers. I'll check for cameras before I start any packing or prepping. I may also shred his divorce papers just in case and look into getting a lawyer for myself. I'm in a no fault divorce state, that much I so remember which will help. I'll update again when I know more. The tracker he wants me to use is a small clip to put on the belt or waistband. I'll wear it unless I'm going or doing something related to me leaving. No pets yet thankfully.
Update Apr 28, 2024
So I've gotten a lot of support and helpful advice along with questions I thought I should clarify before I proceed with the update. Some asked why I'd be 'hiding' things from Alex regarding going out and who I'm meeting with. I don't, and I have nothing to hide. However when he begins to then double check everything I tell him with the other people there right down to each person I talked to and what I said. Did I send any text msgs, did I order food, how much did I eat, that's when it started to feel like I was slowly being pushed into a corner. It didn't start that bad, but gradually grew worse overtime.
All of the Reddit subs my in-law's families are part of are related gardening and diy so I highly doubt they'll see this, if so by the time they do, I'll hopefully be gone. I talked to my job and explained things to my manager. And they promised to look into openings in other states to see if they could get me into one. They'll have an update on that in three days. I trust that my bank account us secured, considering he's tried to get into it before and failed. I found one camera in the kitchen, another in the living room and one in our bedroom. As such, I've left them in place for now and done all other planning, either in the bathroom pretending I'm taking a bath.
I'm honestly staying away from the domestic violence services as my sister-in-law is unfortunately higher up in those considering she volunteers there and I have a feeling if I did show up there, they would know in a heartbeat. I can't look for apartments until I get the update from my work, but either or i'm still gonna be leaving the state. The day before I do I will be changing my number carrier and wiping my laptop and all of his electronics before I do.
I've met with 2 lawyers so far and had them look over the paperwork. My husband had prepared and both said that it did it have some clauses in it. That could have caused me some trouble down the line. What alarmed all of us close the fact that several of those clauses dealt with future children, and not as a hypothetical. Like several hair suggested I have a feeling he fully intended on getting me pregnant to keep me trapped and tied to him.
There are 3 other locations. My job could send me to and I have. As a precaution Begun looking into all 3 cities and housing in the areas. Just in case one of those, this is the one they send me to. Even if they don't have an opening that they can push me into then I will just have to quit, move and figure things out on my own. I have enough money to live and survive for a few months until I can pick up another job.
Unfortunately all of our friends are mutuals and would likely be unaware of the consequences of saying or sharing anything I do or say with my husband. I don't have any surviving close family and obviously my in laws are not a good resource to rely on. I am on my own unfortunately, other than the wonderful bonds, i've begun to make here. I will update again if I get more information or something else happens. Otherwise all update when my work gets back to me. I do plan on leaving before he returns, though. Just to make sure that i'm not anywhere near here at that time.
Update 2 Apr 30, 2024
Good news! My work has an opening I qualify for that will not only shift me across the country, but also comes with a salary increase as well. I've started telling my in laws and friends that I'm planning a surprise outing for when my husband gets back for just the two of us. This way, people don't give me odd looks if they see me out and about. I've even gone as far as asking MIL to show me his favorite recipes.
Meanwhile, I've found a moving company that while small is willing to work in a storm. The reason is in five days, we're supposed to get hit with a large storm front. I plan to shut off the breaker and say we lost power if he asks just as several people here suggested and even send him a short clip of the storm.
I will have all of my stuff moved that afternoon, and I will be flying out once the weather has cleared enough to do so. I have a lawyer who will push my divorce through, and I've filled out the necessary paperwork so that I don't have to be here for it. I'm not suing for assets or alimony and I've shredded his divorce papers as well. I've set up a cheap payphone plan through cricket until this is all said and done at which point I will find a new carrier, number and phone. This one is being wiped and left behind.
My laptop is provided by my work, and the IT department inspected it thoroughly and it was clean thankfully. No other electronic aside from my laptop and new phone will be coming with me. If alex needs to talk to me, he can do it through my lawyer. Not sure if anything else will happen, my fingers are crossed that he doesn't think anythings amiss until after I leave - and I'm not turning the breaker back on when I do. He can when he gets home. My work is covering the plane ticket, so that at least is one expense I don't have to finagle in.
Update 3 May 7, 2024
Update 3: I have 2 weeks to get away from my husband.
It's been a busy week, but I've gotten so much done. Firstly, I am now out of the house and am currently in a hotel while I look for an apartment. It's a big city, bustling with people no matter where you look. We had a pretty bad storm system hit back home, that actually lasted two days. High winds, thunder, lightning and even hail everywhere. I didn't take much from the house, my documents, clothes and important sentimental items. I left all of the furniture and electronics behind. I cleaned the house top to bottom and took pictures on my phone so he couldn't claim I damaged anything when I left.
My lawyer has already started divorce proceedings, and my husband will be served on the 8th. His plane is due to land early morning, and the sheriff will be there at the house waiting for him. He is very much about public appearances and reputation. My lawyer will be calling him as well to inform him that I am more than willing to air out everything to the public about his actions if it means securing my freedom from him. I will go to court as long as I must to get this pushed through.
I haven't told our friends or his in-laws yet, I will do that while he is on the flight to prevent him from getting wind of it before he's handed the divorce papers. I will be calling around and explaining why we're getting divorced, to try and prevent him from twisting this into somehow being my fault. I don't want him trying to claim I had an affair or something so I want to get the truth out before he can twist this.
I'm... doing okay. I'm tired, but yet I feel almost jittery and off-kilter. I keep looking over my shoulder and monitoring what I say even when I don't really need to anymore. Hopefully that will fade soon. My work is covering the cost of the hotel, and I'm working on getting my other things in order. I also need to find a new GP as I want to get a full test just to make sure everything is okay. I don't know when my next update will be, probably when the divorce papers are filed or if we have to go to court to push them through. I will try to keep my head up, but it feels like I'm in a whirlwind or something with so many things to do and think about. I kinda thought it would be easier once I got out of the house but while the fear is smaller, somehow the number of tasks only seems to have grown.
Update 4 May 14, 2024
Sorry I haven't updated for a while, things got hectic and a bit chaotic honestly. Firstly, I'm working on getting an apartment still and have applications in at three different places and will hopefully hear back from them soon. I'm still going into work here at the new location, so I don't have to worry about burning through my emergency savings completely. I've gotten a lot of emails from Alex, his family and our old friend group asking question after question. I have only sent one return email to Alex, explaining that I don't believe we are truly compatible, and it is best we separate now. That his treatment of me when I'd done nothing to deserve as such was just as much of a deal breaker as cheating was for him.
I ended the email with the statement that I would not be contacting him further and anything else he needed to pass on to me or vice versa would be done through my lawyer. For his family and friends, I just typed up one email outlining everything that had happened and why I left. I told them I wished them no ill will, but that such treatment of his wife and partner was not acceptable. That should Alex get remarried in the future, I wished they would help support both partners and not just Alex.
Alex, from what my lawyer told me, was livid when he was served. The sheriff actually ended up booking him for assault on an officer and menacing due to the threats he was shouting. His father bailed him out in a few hours, but with the testimony of the sheriff, my lawyer believes I have a very good chance at getting a restraining order. Alex, upon returning to the house, apparently lost his temper again, breaking the dining table into pieces as well as the tv, and putting several holes in the walls. At least that's what one of the emails from one of our friends reported as Alex called him to help him clean up the mess.
My lawyer already has pictures of the house I took, with timestamps as evidence nothing had been damaged by me. My friend reported that Alex tried to claim I'd been the one to trash the house but the holes in the wall were at head height - Alex is 6'3", and I'm 5'4" so he knew that was false. Either way, taking the pictures definitely will help me so again thank you everyone here for the advice because I never would have thought of that on my own. My work won't share details of where I am, as I do work with some higher end clientele who value security and that information won't be gossiped about and no, I'm not some stripper or escort. I deal with contracts, notary and business management. As such, even if Alex tried to use my work to find me, he wouldn't succeed.

NEW UPDATE

Update on leaving May 26, 2024
It’s been a little bit, and I thought I’d answer some questions before giving my update. It may be a while after this until things change.
Firstly, No I didn’t bring my car. The public transport here is good enough to use without needing one. I have secured an apartment, and the building has good security. You need a key card to enter, and there is a security guard at a desk right by the entrance to the building. As part of my contract, I gave them a photo of Alex and his family so that even in the off chance they do find me, they won’t be let in.
The responses I got from the emails varied. His family said I was overreacting, and that I owe Alex an apology for the problems this has caused him. The pending criminal charges puts him at risk of losing his job if he’s convicted. Alex sent a long email, apologizing and pleading for me to come home. He said he was worried for me, that he is willing to go to therapy if it will appease me. He wants us to remain together, and he didn’t think leaving was an appropriate response to his genuine concern and worry for my health and safety. The friends gave somewhat lacking replies, saying that they didn’t think Alex was ever going to hurt me and that I shouldn’t be letting my imagination run away wild. As much as I want to say I was surprised by the lack of support, I’m honestly not.
He intends to fight the divorce. I am letting my lawyer handle it, and I am also pursuing a protective order as well. Once I got approved for my apartment, I also froze my credit. I’ve changed my phone carrier and number, as well as making sure none of my documents list Alex as next of kin or POA.
Some have asked why I was so paranoid about Alex and his possible future actions. The answer for that actually is somewhat simple – my grandmother. I loved that woman to bits. As a teen, she explained why my grandfather was never around. He was extremely abusive and manipulative, and her generation didn’t allow divorce really. She wouldn’t have been able to buy a house or get a good enough job to support her and my mother on her own. As such, she endured it, shielded my mom as she could until my grandfather died. When I felt like I may have been overreacting, I remembered how she’d said she’d always wished she’d been able to see grandfather for what he was early on when she may have been able to annul the marriage.
I don’t know when I’ll update again, maybe when the divorce goes through or if something big happens but until then, I’m just trying to keep my head above the water.

Planning to ghost him after finding out he’s cheating on me March 4, 2022
Found out my boyfriend was cheating a few weeks ago. Been spiraling since. Literally only running off of vengeance and pure disgust.
I got this weird gut feeling and checked his phone while he was asleep. Those 20 minutes locked in the bathroom felt like years, and the shame keeps me from talking to anyone about it. I moved across the country to be with him, so I’m all alone. No friends or family here.
He woke me up the next morning with kisses and breakfast and has been doing so a lot, lately. Probably the guilt.
He even bought me flowers for the first time ever. After me hinting at wanting them for years.
He thought my quiet crying was out of happiness. He even brought up buying a house for us, something with enough space for potential future children.
I’m still going through the motions. Making his breakfast and protein shake everyday, packing his lunch, making sure dinner is almost ready when he comes home from the gym.
What makes me the angriest is that I really, genuinely thought he wouldn’t do something like this. He watched his father cheat on his mother and father children out of their marriage, all while she struggled with infertility her entire life (my partner isn’t her biological son) and never had her own. She dedicated her life to the two of them and passed away of ovarian cancer shortly before we met.
Sometimes I think about whether she regretted staying with her husband or not. We have a small shrine in her honor and something makes me look at and expect guidance. I love the man she raised and hate the one her husband did. But they’re both him, and he’s a grown ass man more than capable of self control, so I decided to walk away.
Next week my car will be picked up and shipped back home, and I got first class tickets for me and my dog on his dime. He’ll come back home from work and everything I brought will be gone, along with me.
The only thing I think I might regret is not somehow being able to see his reaction when he walks through the door and realizes what’s going, lol.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's the hardest thing to let go. As hopeless as it can feel sometimes, it does get better. Take your time in the beginning, but I think it's therapeutic to confront him, eventually. Ghosting doesn't provide closure for you. In my experience, confronting the problem, head on, gave me a sense of closure. I try to take everything that happens as a life lesson. Good luck with everything
OOP
I personally don’t believe in closure. I got all that I needed when I realized he was untrustworthy
~
Odd_One_9972
Do you have access to his phone/computer? Install a keylogger, then you can not only see what he's saying to you, but to the other APs as well. I put a keylogger on my ex's phone/computer when I caught him cheating. He was such a dumbass, and seeing the shit he was saying, the lies he was spewing, made me grateful I dropped his ass.
OOP
I do, but I don’t think it would make a difference for me. His entire “relationships” with the APs was lies.
Everything from his name, age, college degree, occupation, city, height, and dick size. He even told one he was married and his wife was pregnant with twins. I almost had a heart attack thinking I was an AP too and he had a family out there somewhere.
~
Suspicious_Bear_6634
If he can go after you, you should probably leave a note or a sign that you're leaving him because of his cheating. Seeing that you up and left without a known reason (from his pov) might push him to follow you home. If he knows the reason and knows that he has no chance in hell in getting you back, it might delay a possible confrontation.
OOP
you’re right. I’ve been considering just leaving a sticky note with a list of all the different girls names and the apartment key beside it. Simple and effective
Suspicious_Bear_6634
Fuck, multiple girls?? Draw a little middle finger beside them while you're at it. And make sure there are little to no supplies (food, toiletries, cleaning stuff) left and leave the house dirty so that he can appreciate how much you did for the asshole.
OOP
7 of them to be precise. I’ll have to rush and get out within a certain time frame but I might just settle for shrimp in the curtain rods. He’s really sensitive to smells lol

I lied to my boyfriend everyday and saved the money he gave me March 4, 2022
Almost every day my boyfriend sends me money for lunch, gas, something. I thought he was just really kind. Turns out he was cheating and giving me $$ made him feel less guilty, as though he didn’t beg me to move across the country with him where I know no one.
Once I found out I wanted to immediately confront him but was scared of the outcome since the apartment was only in his name and again, I know no one here.
Now I just save every dime of what he sends to be able to pay for the $3000 moving fees to go back home without hurting my own pocket too much.
Breaking my heart, destroying my ability to trust & scaring me off from men I can handle, but messing with my finances? Nah. never.
The transport company is coming next wednesday to take my car, and my plane tickets for me and my dog have been bought. Gonna keep up my happy act and do the usual cooking of dinner and scrubbing his back and poof on Wednesday like I never knew him. Its the only form of revenge I could do that wouldnt haunt me. Good riddance!

Edit: A few asked for details. There’s 7+ other women, everything he told them was a lie. Name, age, height, city, occupation. All of it.
The only common denominator was that he bought us all the exact same lingerie set for his birthday in January. 🙃 And specifically requested I hang it up in our closet where it’s viewable. Forgiveness is not on the table. He’ll be surprised, but I doubt he’ll be hurt.

Woke up randomly in the middle of the night and “he’s up to no good” was all I could think about. I sleep like a literal baby and never, ever wake up like that. Took his phone and locked myself in the bathroom while he was asleep and found it all.
Friendship break ups are so much worse than relationship breakups March 5, 2022
I’ll be single again pretty soon and I’m looking forward to it but also not. Like yay! I finally can cook when/how I want to and don’t have to split chores and can do everything on my own my way.
But thats the only good part.
I’ve been on my own since I was 16 and I’ve turned out (mostly) fine, I have a paid off house and car, cute dog, debt free, and I’m finishing up my masters degree at 25. It could be worse.
But I’m lonely. I’m not on speaking terms with my family and had a huge fall out with my lifelong friends a couple years ago. I haven’t tried making friends since bc part of me hopes one day I can find a way to fix that friendship.
Plus I’m moving around so much that making friends is pointless. I’m not good at long distance anything.
I never prided myself on romantic relationships- sure, they’re cool, but a loving group of women was always where I found the most peace and understanding and that’s what I want the most.
I guess I’m just going through things right now and I really wish I had people I trust to talk to. Friend breakups hurt the most.

The maths for time and money aren’t working out on this end but there is also a lot of variable/info that is missing.
It took my 7 years to payoff my house and I was contributing to it like it was an emergency. Qualifying for a home and paying it off in that amount of time without help seems nearly impossible. I’m so curious about the formula here! I need a lesson in finance from OP. When I broke it down on it just doesn’t seem possible except from a financial windfall counting even a frugal cost of living along with an accounting for taxes paid, etc… and that did not include the cost for transportation, medical, groceries, blah blah blah
OOP
The house was a 70k foreclosure and is 4bed/4bath. I was a golf caddy, gentlemen’s club bartender and occasional hostess, and notary signing agent. Along with selling stationary items on etsy. Also my scholarships paid for quite a bit of my home in general- they never specified what kind of housing for them, just housing. I lived in 1 room and rented out the other 3.
Dufusbroth
That’s the info I was looking for- thanks you! That is very smart. Good going! Good luck with your situation- so interested how he reacts to your departure
My current relationship has made me realize the thin line between love and hate. March 9, 2022
I found out my boyfriend of almost 4 years was cheating. We’ve lived together for 2 years and I’m leaving him tomorrow. He just doesn’t know yet. And won’t until after I’m gone.
As mad as I am, as betrayed as I feel, I still love him. All I really want is to wake up tomorrow and this all be a nightmare. I don’t enjoy this slice of reality.. that the person I loved the most has looked me in my eye and lied to me for who knows how long.
and every time I do it I’m left wondering how many times he did it. How many times did he wine, dine, and fuck other women and come home to me? How many times have I been the stupid girlfriend who trusted her boyfriend blindly? How many times have I been some woman’s laughing stock? Did he fuck us back to back? Did his friends know? Did they look me in my fucking eye and really not say anything? Did he love them? How many times did he tell me he loved me and meant it? When did he stop meaning it? Did he ever even mean it the first time?
I’m not a master manipulator. Unlike him. I’m just composed because I’ve never had any other choice. Emotions got you beat or worse when it came to my parents and I’m more than aware I have a shitload of trauma to unpack but I can’t.
Not in the self pity, woe is me, its too hard, but no. I probably just can’t. Therapists here are wildly westernized and once I start with the short list they’ll probably just charge me double. Maybe triple. And the last time I tried he kept trying to convince me I enjoyed my own assault.
Maybe I got cheated on because I’m emotionally inept. My intimacy levels are quite limited. The few times he asked about my childhood I either a) brushed him off or b) told him one thing I thought wasn’t that bad and he was so shocked I held out on the actually bad parts.
And that’s where the hate comes in. He knows what it’s like to grow up feeling unwanted. He knows what it’s like to lose your parents young. He knows what it’s like to feel like your entire life has been horrible event after horrible event.
But he still did this to me and I don’t get how he could. I could never cheat on anyone, let alone someone who’s shared such personal things with me.
I haven’t so much as made eye contact with another man since we met… other people were just other people and we were us.
I don’t know. I just don’t see being able to date again. I had deep seeded trust issues long before this and growing old by myself with 30 cats genuinely sounds nice. Hell, great even. At least I won’t always be wondering when the betrayal will come.

(Update) Leaving partner of 4 yrs after finding out he was cheating March 10, 2022
Transport company came and picked up my car. Sold whatever big furniture I brought for low prices. Took his dog to the park and played with him a bit, got him a dog cupcake and took him back to the apartment.
Movers started coming for the rest of my stuff and I hadn’t prepared for our property manager thinking we were both moving out and we hadn’t given them the required vacancy notice. She came to talk to me right as my uber was coming and I told her what was going.
Unfortunately they had already called him bc only his name on the lease. He’s called and texted me a few times but I haven’t replied. His work day won’t be over for a couple of more hours.
I left my apartment keys, and anything he’s ever bought for me that I hadn’t sold already. Didn’t feel like taking that stuff with me. While packing I remembered we bought a pet camera that shoots treats on the entertainment center and turned it back on. I promised myself I’ll disconnect from it by midnight tomorrow but I have my own predictions about how he’ll react and I just gotta know for sure. Yeah, it’s fucked up. Sue me lol
I actually forgot to leave a note and was running out of time before my uber came and just left the lingerie set he was so obsessed with on the bed. He’ll figure it out eventually. Or not.
I’m at the airport now with my dog and just waiting on my flight. I wish I could say that I feel free but I don’t. Just tired.
Thank you all for the well wishes and thank you more to all of the other women who reached out with similar stories. I think I might’ve caved and stayed if you all hadn’t.

Update: I turned it on for about ten minutes after I got back to my home and unpacked. He wasn’t there, but everything was a mess. There was a hole in the wall, furniture flipped over, papers everywhere, the kitchen looked like a tornado went through it.
I deleted all of my other social media accounts but didn’t block his number. The first two days he called me over 200 times. Lots of novel ass text messages and him admitting to some shit I didn’t even know about yet. Quite a few calls from his dad and friends too.
I didn’t reply to any of them

2024.06.02 05:50 Adventurous-Relief88 retaining in jc was the best thing that happened to me (in retrospect)

(and also how my teachers and friends saved my ass so many times🫶)
TL;DR at the end
NOTE: this is purely my own personal experience
to provide some bg info, in sec 1 i managed to sneak into the ip sec sch with the lowest cut off point - my psle score was literally the cop. by upper sec, i was failing all my subjects consistently (save for english) due to a slew of family problems and resultant mental health issues. i SHOULD have been retained in sec sch or forced to transfer to the o-level track bc i didn’t meet the promotion criteria to the affiliated jc, but my teachers chose to turn a blind eye and let me go on anyway. i was such a hopeless student (chronic absenteeism and outbursts) but in hindsight, i’m still grateful they made this concession for me because had i taken the o-levels, i probably wouldn’t have been able to go anywhere
in jc1 (2021), i never watched any lectures or did any tutorials. i was still just as hopeless as ever. anyone could tell i was still mentally unstable, still having family issues and that acads took a backseat in my mind. i didn’t have good relations with my teachers since i was such an unmotivated student. my support networks were non-existent (my closest friends were also struggling anyway). so it was not much surprise when by the end of the academic year, i had scored a measly 8.75rp (B in GP and U for everything else). still, instead of being directly retained, i was still given the chance to sit for some provisional advancement exams but ofc i failed da sht outta those anyway and actually got retained.
i think retaining made something click in my mind. despite all the past years of getting away with shit grades and not caring about school, i never truly suffered any “true” consequences since concessions were always made for me. but getting retained was now a tangible consequence i had to face. also, being placed into a new batch without the same faces from the past 5 years also helped me care less about people’s opinions and i could truly focus on myself
my family problems still persisted, sure, and school was still a scary place for me, but less than it had ever been. because i didn’t have pw or mt to worry about anymore, i also had a lot more free time in school. my friends who promoted shared lesson materials and answer keys with me, and also offered to teach me sometimes, which made getting through tutorials so much easier bc whenever i got stuck i knew i had help.
talking about external help, it really defined my retainee journey. i am immensely grateful to my friends and teachers who pushed me along. i was a pw slacker and i still got an A anyway bc my group mates carried… it’s something i still feel guilty about and i definitely didn’t deserve that A. i’m still friends with my pw mates till this day which im really grateful for. in my second jc1 year, because i actually started putting effort into my studies, it became much easier to build a rapport with my new teachers. moreover i think they had to keep an eye on me anyway since i was a retainee lol but i was able to form close relationships with them and they became an integral part of my support network as well :’)
in jc1 (2022) myes, i went into the exams with low expectations - maybe straight Ds and I would’ve been happy. i ended up scoring As for all my subjects except a B in one, which were completely unexpected since i only ever saw Us on my report slips. this kickstarted a “virtuous cycle” for me and i began to take pride in my academics. by the end of my second jc1 year, i had attained a perfect score in my second round of promotional examinations!! my friends and teachers were all really proud of me and i was really happy at that point in time :)
i also began to get more opportunities in school, like leadership positions and the chance to participate in competitions or lead events since i finally had my sht together. these all helped me with my portfolio building as well :’)
around a levels period, smth rly disruptive happened at home and i thought that perhaps the past 2 years of work would come crashing down. it was hard to study at home w everything that was going on. i left every paper unconfident. at that point, i was aiming for a pretty competitive uni course which was kind of unrealistic since i was a retainee, but i dared to dream big and since i had finally pulled myself together i thought that there was no harm in trying. however i thought my a levels score wouldn’t end up making the cut since i felt like my papers all went rly badly ;-;
for the 3 months between my last paper and a level results release, i avoided thinking about my score as much as possible. i kept all my notes and tutorials in case i ended up having to retake my a levels. on the day itself, i didn’t even show up to school to collect my results in person as i was so convinced that i had done badly and that i would end up crying in front of my classmates and teachers. in fact i even waited until the next day to open my results online. but lo and behold, i had attained a perfect score. i was so elated that i could actually apply for the course i wanted :’)
fast forward through the months, i submitted my applications and personal statements, received my interview invites, went for them, and then received my acceptances from the two local universities offering the degree i wanted. :’) everything truly worked out the best way they could have.
and that’s why, in retrospect, retaining was truly the best thing that could have happened to me. i don’t think it’d be far-fetched to say that it literally changed the trajectory of my life. i learned how to have a proper work ethic, took away a strong support network of friends and teachers, and honed important skills like leadership. i still cringe when i think about how much of a problem student i used to be, but it was only because i let things ever get that bad that now i know how important it is to stay on track.
i’m really grateful that as much as retaining is a taboo subject in jc, that i wasn’t discriminated against for having been a retainee. it might seem weird and like im making “retainee” my whole brand, but it was truly a turning point in my life and i wear it like a badge of honour almost.
i’m now excitedly waiting for uni to start in august. ٩( ᐛ )و
TL;DR: retaining helped me gain a proper work ethic and form a strong support network. i ended up scoring well at the a levels and was accepted into my desired uni course. so quite literally, retaining changed the trajectory of my life for the better🫶

🔗Royal 100Cx Portable Battery/AC Powered Cash Register - Black

Once upon a time, I decided to set up a small business selling handmade crafts at local markets. I needed a cash register to keep track of sales and manage taxes, so I got my hands on the Royal 100Cx portable cash register. Boy, was I glad I did! This bad boy has helped me run my business smoothly and efficiently.
The first thing that struck me was the convenience of having both battery and AC power options. It's perfect for when I'm out and about selling my crafts or even back at home. The compact design is also a winner; it doesn't hog up much space on my market stall.
But, it's not all sunshine and rainbows with this cash register. The setup can be a little confusing at first, especially when trying to figure out which buttons do what. And you really need to use at least one department key for it to work properly - something that caught me off guard.
Despite these hiccups, I couldn't be happier with my Royal 100Cx cash register. It helps me keep tabs on my sales, computes taxes automatically, and even provides detailed department reporting. Plus, it's solidly built and has held up well through countless transactions. All in all, it's been a trusty companion in my small business journey.
However, there are some cons that I need to address. Some users have reported issues with missing parts and unhelpful customer service, which can be quite frustrating. Additionally, the manual has been described as difficult to navigate.
To sum up, the Royal 100Cx portable cash register might not be perfect, but it gets the job done. It's a reliable ally for small businesses or casual vendors who need a no-fuss solution for managing sales and taxes. Just be prepared to dive into the quirks and quirks of setting it up yourself.

🔗Royal 6000ML Black Cash Register with 6000 PLUs

I recently got the chance to use the Royal 6000ML Cash Register, and I must say, it's quite the workhorse. This compact cash register is designed to streamline register operations, helping businesses run smoothly and accurately.
One feature that really stood out is its ability to handle up to 6,000 price look-ups (PLUs). I frequently found myself selling items that were part of our standard inventory, and this made entering those items quick and easy. Additionally, the registers 36 departments for sales analysis by category allowed me to track sales trends, giving me valuable insight into what's selling and what's not.
On the downside, though, the instructions could be better. While the programming itself is not too complicated once you get the hang of it, the manual could be more intuitive. Also, the 10-slot cash drawer felt a bit too large for a small business.
Overall, the Royal 6000ML Cash Register is a decent piece of equipment, but it may not be the best choice for everyone. If your business requires a lot of SKUs and you need a quick and easy way to input data, this could be a good fit. However, if you're looking for something with a more intuitive user interface, you might want to look elsewhere.

🔗Classic Retro Cash Register Toy

I recently got my hands on the New Classic Toys 10650 Cash Register and let me tell you, it's been a hit in my household! My little one loves playing shop and this colorful cash register has been a key ingredient in her imaginative play.
The first thing that caught my eye was its vibrant design - it's not your usual boring plastic toy. The cash register comes with some fun extras like a scanner, credit card, portable ATM, eight coins, and some paper money which have kept my child engaged for hours.
One of the standout features for me was how it encourages creativity and hand-eye coordination skills. Seeing her role play with this toy has truly been a joy. Plus, it's suitable for kids aged 3 and up, making it perfect for many years of play.
However, one small downside is the size of the product. It's not very big, especially if you have multiple kids playing together or if you want to store other toys along with it. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall quality and fun factor of the New Classic Toys 10650 Cash Register more than make up for it.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a toy that not only entertains but also helps develop cognitive skills in young children, then the New Classic Toys 10650 Cash Register is definitely worth considering.

As a cashier at a bustling retail store, I've had the pleasure of using the Royal MB30 Cash Drawer with USB. Its heavy-duty metal construction immediately caught my eye, providing me with the peace of mind that comes with knowing my cash is safely tucked away. The spring-loaded easy glide drawer slid open smoothly every time, making it a breeze to retrieve change for customers.
One feature that really stood out to me was the drawer lock with two keys. Not only does it keep my hard-earned cash secure, but it also gives me an extra layer of control over the drawer. Plus, there's an emergency release tab on the front, offering me an easy way to open the drawer if needed.
However, there was one small issue I encountered with this cash drawer. The removable coin slot was a bit too loose for my liking. While it was easy to adjust the size of the slots for different coins, they didn't always stay perfectly in place. This wasn't a deal-breaker for me, though, as the benefits of this cash drawer far outweighed this minor inconvenience.
Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed using the Royal MB30 Cash Drawer with USB in my daily work routine. Its robust construction, easy-to-use features, and compatibility with various POS systems have made it a reliable asset in my cash handling tasks. I'd highly recommend this cash drawer to anyone in need of a secure, efficient solution for their retail or restaurant business.

As a small business owner, I've been using the Royal Alpha 7000ml Cash Register for several weeks now, and it's been quite the rollercoaster ride. The dual thermal printers are incredibly fast and quiet, making the transaction process smoother and less chaotic. Plus, the running journal alongside the receipt printer has been an unexpected lifesaver in keeping track of sales.
The large 10-line LCD display and alphanumeric keyboard are a breeze to navigate, making it a snap to program and customize the register to fit my specific needs. However, the SD card slot for data transfers was a game-changer for efficient accounting.
On the downside, the instruction manual for programming was quite lacking in detail, leaving me to figure out a lot on my own. They should have made instructions more clear and comprehensive, especially for first-time users. Also, the "no sale" button was non-functional, which was quite frustrating.
However, overall, the Royal Alpha 7000ml Cash Register has proven to be sufficient for my small cafeteria-style restaurant. The balance of features and minor inconveniences make it a good choice, but the learning curve can be steep for first-time users.

2024.06.02 05:44 idioticbrilliance How has your experience been with your own VPS for small? Considering after both vercel and heroku don't seem to be ideal, or is it my code?

TL;DR Vercel is awesome but cold starts have me skeptical for longterm. Heroku seems a great alternative (and cheaper), but if you can't keep it under 512RAM (in my case), you only solved one problem and created another. Should I just go VPS? concerned code below.
I utilized the Google Ads Api and created a Google Shopping App that incorporates all of Google's RMF: Required Minimum Functionality For a Standard Shopping tool. The plan was to just create an app that follows a marketing strategy (just to create structured campaigns) I've been using for while and make it available to other people in ecommerce. By time I was finished and ready to submit, I realized there was a lot more I had to add in order to get approved. Makes sense though because they don't want you to just offer creation functionality, but not editing or removal.
The app itself is roughly 17k lines. 219 files.
Database: MongoDb to store encrypted tokens.
Billing: Stripe
Main resource: Google Ads Api & Google Content for Shopping Api
Authentication: next-auth (Google provider)
Tried Vercel Hobby to start:
I was getting function execution timeouts right out the bat. No chance this would work it seemed. Upgraded to pro...
Vercel Pro $20 p/m:
This works and with some configuration, I was able to have the app fully functional. Most times, it is so fast and I love it, but the cold starts are unpredictable and aren't ideal for many reasons. Still, I submitted the app to google to have my requested access granted and app approved for production and all went well! Given I was able to get the app approved with Vercel, I want to make it work. I tried experimental:
//next.config.js experimental: { bundlePagesExternals: true, },
Set my memory to 3009mb and extended my maxDuration to 30 secs in vercel.json. Implemented lazy loading for some of the larger components that are required by RMF but not likely the reason you would use the app.
Still, it seemed this would be the norm... Are things suppose to improve once you get regular traffic? Is it unique to each user or the app itself? I haven't canceled my account yet, but I did remove my domain because I figured I should give Heroku a shot.
Heroku $7 per month - Basic
I saw a post talking about Heroku as an alternative to Vercel, and I already use Heroku (node.js/Express backend) + Firebase (React frontend) for another project. Never had an issue, but I was skeptical about a Next.js app due to the monolithic structure and some of the complex processes this app performs.
The biggest shortcoming for me is the hard 512mb RAM limit. I don't have anymore cold starts, but when I initially started the app up I was hitting memory exceeded (R14) in my logs. On the very first start I also experienced an execution timeout (sigh...). I have been trying to reproduce this error since to see if it will be a common occurrence but, so far It hasn't shown itself again...
Aside from that, It's great, but not without it's own shortcomings (in my case RAM). Even upgrading to Standard would still leave me with the same amount. At that point, It becomes questionable if it's a better solution than Vercel. If I want 1GB of RAM from heroku, I'm looking at $50 minimum p/m?
Context to possible issue:
I believe the issue lies in how I authenticate users and immediately send the first Get request after successful authentication.
NextAuth Callback:
Check if user has account already
let googleUser; try { //check if we have a user under the google email for ads account googleUser = await GoogleAdsAuth.findOne({ email: user?.email }); } catch (err) { console.log( "There was an error with the code - Check GoogleAdsAuth Model also.", err ); } //add existing account id to token - regardless of access & refresh tokens if (googleUser) { token._id = googleUser._id; token.theme = googleUser.theme; token.planExpiryDate = googleUser.planExpiryDate; token.planType = googleUser.planType; token.cleanUpService = googleUser.cleanUpService; token.accountActive = googleUser.accountActive; if (googleUser.googleAccountId && googleUser.googleAccountId !== "") { token.googleAccountId = decryptData(googleUser.googleAccountId); } else { token.googleAccountId = googleUser.googleAccountId; } }
Check if Google sent an access and/or refresh token:
//check if we have an access token after login with google if (account?.access_token && account?.provider === "google") { //encrypt access token let encryptedAccessToken = encryptData(account?.access_token); //Check if refresh token is available let encryptedRefreshToken = account?.refresh_token ? encryptData(account?.refresh_token) : undefined; //check if user exists, if they do, update the properties for access and refresh tokens if (googleUser) { let googleData: { [key: string]: string } = {}; //update access token with new encrypted access token googleData.access_token = encryptedAccessToken; //if a refresh token is in the response update this too if (account?.refresh_token) { googleData.refresh_token = encryptData(account?.refresh_token); } try { await GoogleAdsAuth.findByIdAndUpdate(googleUser?._id, googleData); token.theme = googleUser?.theme; } catch (err) { console.log("Error updating Tokens for user", err); } }
If they don't exist create a new account for them.
else if (account?.refresh_token && !googleUser) { //create a new user for that user const startDate = new Date(); const freeTrial = 7 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000; const endDate = new Date(startDate.getTime() + freeTrial); const googleAuthUser = { startPlan: startDate, planExpiryDate: endDate, accountActive: true, planType: "free", email: user?.email, name: user?.name, access_token: encryptedAccessToken, refresh_token: encryptedRefreshToken, cleanUpService: true, createdCampaigns: 0, campaignQuota: 1, totalCreatedCampaigns: 0, stripeCustomerId: "", theme: "light", googleAccountId: "", selectedClientId: "", } as GoogleAuth; const newGoogleAuth = new GoogleAdsAuth(googleAuthUser); try { await newGoogleAuth.save(); //set token id to new user id token._id = newGoogleAuth._id; token.theme = newGoogleAuth.theme; token.googleAccountId = newGoogleAuth.googleAccountId; } catch (err) { console.log("Error adding GoogleAuth Details to DB", err); }
then...
after this I send them to the app dashboard where a GET request is made immediately after to retrieve all the Shopping performance data. I've cleared my cache, revoked app permisions and deleted my user in the on Mongodb to start the process over again, to see If I can repeat the error, but can't atm.
Anyway, If you read this all, thank you. Am I wrong to immediately send additional requests to Google immediately after authentication? Median Latency for Google Api calls are 625ms and 95% latency is 1200ms.
In case your interested, here is the request I make after successful authentication - /api/...
export default async function (req: NextApiRequest, res: NextApiResponse) { const { id, segment } = req.query; // mongoDb Id an date segment (i.e. 'LAST_7_DAYS') await dbConnect(); let googleUser = await findGoogleAuthById(id as string, res); const decryptedRefreshToken = decryptData(googleUser.refresh_token); const decryptedAccountId = decryptData(googleUser.googleAccountId); const client = getClient(); const customer = client.Customer({ customer_id: decryptedAccountId, //google.googleAccountId could go here refresh_token: decryptedRefreshToken, }); //Query using GAQL const query = getAppAnalyticsQuery(segment as string); let result; try { result = await customer.query(query); res.status(200).json({ analytics: result }); } catch (err) { console.log(err); if (err instanceof errors.GoogleAdsFailure) { googleError(err); //log the Google errors } return res.status(500).json({message: 'unable to retrieve shopping performance data' }); } }
Sorry If I didn't explain this well. Between weighing up the options to take a 3rd shot at another hosting service or question whether I can better optimize my code to work within Heroku's RAM limits. I definitely would appreciate some feedback or advice. My gut is telling me to go VPS, but I wonder If i may be ignoring a bigger issue at hand. I know my next-auth implementation part could be better optimized and the amount of comments might just piss some of you off (bare with me, it was a pain to set up). I am definitely working on improving it now. Just took time to post this hoping to get additional feedback.
In hindsight, I wish I had structured the app to host have the frontend and backend hosted separately. Oh well, I think I can make this work, but want to be considerate my next steps.

🔗Comfortable, Adjustable, Ambidextrous Wild Hog Holster for Brown 1911-22

https://preview.redd.it/64dr3erxx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19dd5ea2aba7e718f7387b3791af2ba5d425080d
I recently had the chance to try the Desantis Wild Hog Holster Lthr - Ambidextrous 1911's 5" Natural, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations. This holster is incredibly comfortable and fits perfectly, whether you’re a right-handed or left-handed shooter. One of the features that stood out was its capability for ambidextrous use.
It was a game-changer when I found myself in situations where quickly switching hands was necessary. Plus, it's super durable, made from premium top grain and center cut steer hide. The adjustable tension device was also a nice touch, providing extra security when wearing it cross draw or with a forward cant.
The fact that it's compatible with most SAA revolvers, large frame DA revolvers, and many large autoloaders makes it a versatile choice for gun enthusiasts. The only downside? .
It's designed specifically for a 5" natural 1911, so it might not fit other handguns. Overall, though, it was an amazing experience, and I'd definitely recommend this holster to anyone looking for added comfort and security in their shooting accessories.

🔗Bravo Concealment Torsion 1911 IWB Holster with Adjustable Retention

https://preview.redd.it/a2ssyc9yx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e044876393dea7495a1e29e0442c13b1016bf70d
I recently became a fan of the Bravo Concealment Adaptive IWB concealed carry holster for my trusty 1911. This holster has been a game-changer in my daily carry routine, thanks to its adjustable retention, which feels secure yet accessible at the same time.
The polymer injection mold is absolutely impressive—it ensures a perfect fit for my 1911 without adding any unnecessary bulk. The torsion technology also helps conceal the gun by twisting it slightly inward, making it effortlessly blend with my wardrobe.
One of my favorite features of this holster is the comfortable fit; it feels like a second skin without any discomfort or irritation. Plus, the holster retains its shape for smooth one-handed re-holstering. The tuckable clip is another added convenience, allowing me to effortlessly tuck it under my clothing when needed.
However, there's one aspect I wish could've been improved—the audible clicking sound when re-holstering. It's a bit too loud for my liking, especially if I'm in quieter surroundings. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of the Bravo Concealment IWB holster for my 1911. It's a reliable and comfortable option for everyday concealed carry.

🔗Quality 1911 Optic Ready Leather Holster for Optic and Red Dot Accessories

https://preview.redd.it/uw976nhyx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c9abf504f6c3c12a26be43bd551afeaba53c3b1
The 1791 Optic Ready 1911 Belt Holster BH1 in Signature Brown is a versatile and reliable choice for those seeking a high-quality belt holster. Crafted using premium 100% Certified American Heavy Native Steerhide leather, this holster exudes durability and comfort.
Its multi-fit design and open top make it an easy choice for your preferred carry-style, accommodating a wide range of firearms. However, the added functionality of the optic cut and the inclusion of a sweat guard or shield give it a slight edge in terms of usability.
The reinforced stitching ensures that the holster remains secure and long-lasting. Despite these pros, the holster may not be the most ideal choice for those looking for a more minimalist or lightweight design.
Overall, the 1791 Optic Ready 1911 Belt Holster BH1 is a solid option for anyone seeking a reliable and feature-rich belt holster.

🔗Quality Western-style leather holster for 703 Revolver

https://preview.redd.it/9iskxmvyx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5c53270793e1a36b8db155d8833f7beeacc82e6
The Denix Old West Leather Holster is a must-have accessory for anyone who loves the authentic feel of the Wild West. Not only does it look the part, but it also feels and functions like a genuine holster should. The craftsmanship is evident in the beautifully tooled leather design, which adds a touch of class to your 1873 non-firing replica or Colt Peacemaker pistol.
One of the things I appreciate most about this holster is the ease of use. The right-draw design ensures that your firearm is always easily accessible when you need it, and the adjustable leg-tie makes it comfortable to wear for extended periods. The shell loops on the belt are a nice touch, as they accommodate the replica shells that fit these pistols, adding another level of realism.
As with any product, there are a few minor drawbacks. The holster isn't the most compact option out there, which can make it a bit tricky to carry around if you're planning to go somewhere where you might need to hide your firearm. Additionally, the medium waist size might not be perfect for everyone, so it's something to consider before making a purchase.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Denix Old West Leather Holster. It's a top-quality product that adds a touch of authenticity to any enthusiast's collection. If you're looking for a durable, functional, and stylish holster that captures the spirit of the Old West, this is the one to get.

🔗Authentic Old West Deluxe Tooled Tan Leather Western Holster

https://preview.redd.it/dtboszezx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da677cc606bb793fae124f432020f4d92e46c3d0
I recently had the chance to use this Deluxe Fast Draw Holster, and let me tell you, it's a real game changer for those who value quality and style. The holster's thick, tooled, choice leather exudes an air of old-fashioned elegance that's both timeless and sophisticated. It's the perfect companion for any cowboy or cowgirl who appreciates the finer things in life.
But comfort and style aren't the only things this holster has going for it. The holster's interior is fully lined with. 45 caliber cartridge loops, ensuring that your weapon is always secure and ready for action.
However, it's not all smooth sailing. While the leather is undoubtedly high-quality, it can be a bit stiff and unforgiving at first. It takes a bit of breaking in and adjustment to get the perfect fit, but once you do, it's like a second skin.
Overall, this Deluxe Fast Draw Holster is a real winner for anyone who wants to add a touch of the Old West to their daily carry. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve when it comes to getting the perfect fit.

🔗Left-Handed Comfortable 1911 Western Holster

https://preview.redd.it/tjeqejnzx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=744be516fe454d484dd8efefee8297d7707675a3
Imagine walking with a reliable 1911 revolver on your hip every day. That's the experience you get with this Desantis Thumb Break Scabbard Belt Holster for the Smith & Wesson 5" Left Hand Tan. Right off the bat, I noticed how securely and comfortably it sits on your waist. The thumb break feature and customized molding combine to give you a solid, concealed carry in the blink of an eye.
The wide belt slots are a clever design that really caters to daily carry users. There's one key downside - this holster doesn't seem to work with all 1911 models; it's best for Smith & Wesson 5" Left Hand Tan, as it says in the title. But still, it's an otherwise fantastic addition to your daily carry.

🔗1911 Western Holster: Mini Slide with Adjustable-Tension Device (Black, Right Hand, Fits 4" Model)

https://preview.redd.it/2p0ragyzx24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34ff1f57e194501adb52f638117e318898310c0a
As a gun enthusiast, I recently tried out the Desantis Gunhide Mini Slide Belt Holster. I was impressed by the premium saddle leather and the double seams, giving it a sleek and professional look. Not to mention, it fits my 1911 with a 4-inch barrel perfectly.
One of the standout features is the adjustable-tension device, which ensures my pistol stays securely in place. I also appreciated the two-slot design, providing easy access to my firearm when needed. Available in both black and tan unlined leather, there's a color option to suit every style preference.
While it's a bit tricky to put on due to the tight fit, it's a small sacrifice for the overall quality of this holster. It's been a reliable choice for my daily carry, and I highly recommend the Desantis Gunhide Mini Slide Belt Holster to any fellow gun owners seeking a top-notch holster.

🔗Premium Western 1911 Inside-the-Waistband Holster

https://preview.redd.it/hffaxxn0y24d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=734d312a183ba2ceb6c84f339e2c42ca7abba6fb
I recently had the chance to try the Galco Royal Guard 1911 Inside-the-Waistband Holster Black - a sleek and versatile option for gun owners. This holster boasts an innovative design that keeps your weapon secure while still ensuring that you have easy access to it when you need it most. I particularly appreciated the rough side of the leather facing out, providing great stability and protection for your gun.
Wearing the Galco Royal Guard was a comfortable experience, allowing for real-world concealment even of larger defensive guns. The smooth leather pocket was reinforced for sturdiness, and it granted unrestricted movement and easy reholstering. In my opinion, the combat grip accessibility rounded out this holster's utility to make it an invaluable choice for those seeking speed and agility.
A few aspects of the Galco Royal Guard could use some improvement, but overall, I was impressed with the product. Its premium natural color horsehide constructed to fit 1-3/4" belts was a definite plus. And for those with 1-1/4" belts, there's an optional belt channel to consider. While there is still room for improvement, the Royal Guard holds promise as a reliable choice for any gun enthusiast.

FAQ

What is a 1911 Western Holster?

A 1911 Western Holster is a type of gun holster designed for use with a 1911 pistol, a popular semi-automatic handgun that was first introduced by John Browning in 1911. These holsters are typically made from high-quality materials, such as leather or synthetic materials, and are specifically crafted for the 1911 pistol to ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

What materials are typically used to make a 1911 Western Holster, and what are their advantages?

Leather is the most common material used for making 1911 Western Holsters. It offers durability, a natural and attractive appearance, and a broken-in feel that makes it comfortable to wear. Other commonly used materials include synthetic materials like Kydex, which are known for their rigidity, durability, and resistance to wear and tear.

What is the main difference between a 1911 Western Holster and other types of holsters?

The main difference between a 1911 Western Holster and other types of holsters is the specific design and construction, which is tailored to the unique shape and dimensions of the 1911 pistol. This ensures that the pistol fits securely and comfortably in the holster, and it can be worn easily and discreetly.

What are the main variations in the design of 1911 Western Holsters?

  • Material: Holsters can be made from leather, synthetic materials like Kydex, or a combination of both.
  • Retention methods: Some holsters have a snap-on, press-on, or thumb-break retention system that keeps the gun in place when the holster is not in use.
  • Carry options: Holsters can be designed for a variety of carry methods, such as on-body, off-body, or attached to belts or clothing.
  • Color options: Holsters can be available in various colors, including black, tan, brown, and even custom designs.

Do 1911 Western Holsters come in different sizes? If so, how can I choose the right size for my 1911 pistol?

Yes, 1911 Western Holsters come in different sizes to accommodate various 1911 pistol models, such as the Government model, Commander model, or Officers model. To choose the right size for your 1911 pistol, it is essential to know the specific model and caliber you own. Most holster manufacturers list the compatible pistol models and calibers on their websites, allowing you to make an informed purchase.

Are there any maintenance or care tips for maintaining a 1911 Western Holster?

It is essential to keep your 1911 Western Holster clean and free from dirt, debris, and moisture. Regularly check for any damage or wear, and address any issues promptly to ensure the longevity and functionality of the holster. Depending on the material used, you may need to apply leather conditioner to the holster periodically to keep the leather soft and prevent it from cracking. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper care and maintenance.

2024.06.02 05:32 hippydumpling Is what my HR did illegal or just unprofessional?

I live in Portland Metro Area in Oregon and have been faced with a couple issues from my employer, mostly HR specifically.
Keeping it short as possible while providing enough context..
1st problem -When I got hired (back, as I’ve worked for them before and left on good terms) HR had agreed to hire me back at the rate of $xx.xx and in a couple months they could bump me to my requested $xx.xx She asked if I was okay with that and I agreed with emphasis on as long as that bump up happens in the amount of time she had stated. (I have text proof of this exchange)
Fast forward about 3 months, I send her an email asking her and following up on the bump in pay. A couple more weeks pass and I’ve gotten no response or anything that indicates she even read or acknowledged said email. Suddenly my schedule changes in a manner it never has before.
In the weeks to follow.. now pushing 4-5 months of being employed there.. I wake up one morning to a coworker texting me asking why I’m not on next weeks schedule. Turns out, my HR had fabricated weeks worth of stories to get the store manager to clear her actions and “write me off the schedule” something I’ve seen her do to many employees before (they will not formally fire anyone) So I speak with my hr and store manager and get everything sorted out.. after tons of drama my HR immediately writes me back into the schedule per store managers instructions and I keep my job (which my store manager confirmed they were not going to keep me around by simply writing me off the schedule with no formal termination)
2nd problem -Fast forward to this last month, I request my first sick paid time off day only to be met with my HR telling me in email, that because of my hours (full time 2 weeks, part time 2 weeks) I do not qualify for paid time off.
I sent her screenshots from my states labor laws and disagreed with her statement, screenshots as proof. She apologized and said she would make sure I got my paid time off hours for the requested day.
NOW. My question..
Do I have any legal ground to stand on here if I were to get a lawyer?? Or did correcting her actions throw that out the window if there ever was a possibility?
From what I can read for my states laws, retaliation for asking about wages is considered discrimination.
****Side note for further last minute context: she tried setting up a coworker of mine with her son, and when she saw this coworker and I working well with each other and socializing after work, is also when problems began to arise (around the 3 month mark mentioned above making this all feel very personal)
Edit: 3rd problem, both managers (store and intake) + hr all partake in the associates tip pool that they don’t disclose how much is totaled before split at the end of the week. Everyone knows they help themselves to more than the workers. Every week we get the same set amount no matter if we have a very lucrative day or not (where we could split tips just from that shift and garner more than what we always get at the end of the week)

2024.06.02 05:30 Honeysyedseo How I Earned €507 and Built a Thriving Skool Group Pre-Launch in 2024

I started my Skool group as a free group on April 24.
To get the first people in, I didn't even tell them about it.
I just announced that I had updated my "LinkedIn Lead Generation" course and offered it at €17 in my dead, archived and temporarily revived FB group.
Next I offered it to my mail list for €27.
Then on LinkedIn for €37 for a weekend.
And eventually I offered it for €47.
I did this all without much effort.
It got me 20 people and €507 in sales. (outside of Skool)
I made it clear that access would be granted on Monday, April 29.
The week before that I emailed people who had paid for the live training last year.
Letting them know about the update and would they like access to the new platform.
8 people said yes.
I let them in before the weekend as well as 12 members from my high ticket program. (to get them used to Skool before I move that program)
I got as much engagement happening as I could that first weekend and then filmed the video explaining what's what.
So when those people who bought the course got access on the Monday, it was already an active group.
I've also let in 3 people for free, as I'm going to set up their Skool with them.
So that's 3 affiliates lined up.
Another 3 people just because I can.
And me x2 (one test account as non-admin)
I just set up the subscription, at $8 for now and got my first paid through Skool member.
That's 48 people, yet there are only 35.
14 of the 20 people who bought the course have not entered.
After they paid, the confirmation email explained they'd get an invite from Skool.
Screenshot of what that email would look like + explanation that they need to create a free Skool account to log in.
Zapier then fired off the Skool invite 2 minutes later.
Six people joined, fourteen didn't.
I've resent the invite through Skool twice.
Will DM them each on LinkedIn and then its up to them.
Next step...
Running a webinar in 2 weeks.
People can attend for free = no replay or join "Your Impact Visibilitea" on Skool for recording and courses and resources.
Let's see how that goes.
Subscription goes up from $8 to $12 four days into webinar promo.

2024.06.02 05:29 Throwawayredditasker ID/Passport Help? (desperate mom)

Okay. Buckle in, this will likely be long winded but I feel you need all the context. There will be a tldr at the end, so scroll there if you don’t care for the small details.
I am a 26F, living in NYC. My ID expired in 2020 at the start of Covid, and I booked it to Atlanta after a bad breakup to clear my head. I wasn’t able to renew my ID in Atlanta because everything had shut down, so I saved up to come back to NYC. Things were still closed and slow when I got back, got into a new relationship, got pregnant. I know, judge me later. Between doctor’s appointments and most government official buildings being closed, I didn’t get to renew it within the year. When I tried to renew it the following year (per their two year time limit at the dmv), I was told I didn’t have enough points to renew or something similar. I would have used my passport if I had known they had a time limit of 15 years, but I took my first passport picture when I was nine.
It’s now been three years, and surprisingly, when you don’t have your own place where you actively pay bills, it’s incredibly hard to prove your citizenship. Before leaving NYC I had a job, an updated ID, a bank account, and a proof of address. I still don’t have an updated ID. Here’s why:
I have my:
SSN US issued Birth Certificate A credit card/credit statement Proof of address A benefits card (no picture) Old ID (beyond 2 years expired)
I do not have a bank account, I cannot get one without an ID and they closed my previous one. I no longer have a stable proof of address, I moved. I live semi off the grid with my daughter’s father. He works, we aren’t together, and I can’t secure income unless my paperwork is order. I have an address I can use, but my name isn’t on the lease and I have no bills in my name. I’ve been back and forth to the dmv, passport agencies, post offices, online, and even the library. They’ve all sent me on a wild goose chase that led nowhere, not to mention bad attitudes along the way. Am I supposed to just accept NOT having an ID and passport??
It feels like I’ve been going in an endless loop for three years trying to get my proper documentation. I can’t secure a job, I can’t apply for anything without an ID apparently. In a non joking way, I truly understand now how hard it is for some immigrants to enter the country legally. It’s a maze of complicated paperwork and processes, all involving a lot of money people may not have. It was not my intent to let it expire beyond two years, I am seeking advice on the fastest way to get my documents updated legally for the sake of my kid. I even took my own passport photo and filled out the forms but the website says I need an ID at the time of my appointment for them to go forward. I need genuine help, as I’m not sure how to update my ID/passport at this point.
TLDR; I screwed myself over by waiting too long to update my ID, partially due to Covid and pregnancy, and need advice on the fastest way to get it updated since most methods require an updated ID…which I don’t have.

2024.06.02 05:25 Visible_Pipe_9857 Estranged mom sends hateful email

Today my mother sent me an extremely hateful email several days before my 30th birthday. There was nothing about my birthday. Instead, she threw myself and everyone I loved under the bus. I haven’t talked to her in 9 months and since then she has never asked how my son was doing. She’s never apologized or taken accountability for her actions. The only attempt at an apology was “sorry for what you think I’ve done”.
The letter cemented that there is nothing there for me in that relationship anymore. She has no love for me. She is bitter and hateful toward everyone I love, including my husband. Her goal in life is to make me feel as alone as possible. But it didn’t work.

2024.06.02 05:23 NatalieMaybeIDK Interesting Times

Congratulations mortal, things are about to get interesting on Earth. You've been chosen to be part of the fun. A group of what you might call gods are going to have some fun with Earth. We are just going to give 5000-50,000 of you a few powers and see what happens. We'll be watching you, but we always were anyway. No point getting upset about privacy. We know what you do. We don't care.
All abilities will grow with time and practice. The growth is directed by how you use the powers. Using abilities and pushing the strength limits will drain your energy and will require an increased calorie intake. If you use your powers too heavily you can feint.
You've also been given a basic health upgrade/fitness to peak human. You'll find that you now age at 1/10th the normal rate and age far more gracefully. You'll heal around 4x quicker than normal and survive quite a bit more than normal.
Pick 2 blind and get a minor bonus. Pick 2 and read ahead. You don't get the bonus.
Pocket Reality: You gain a small pocket realm at first this is an island around the size of a football field that floats in the void. To begin with you'll only be able to transport yourself and what you are carrying. Eventually you could open gateways. Starting you can generate 50lbs of any raw material you'd like. At maximum level you'll be able to control and twist reality here. The landscape reacting to your will. Anything bending reality will set back to normal on leaving your realm.
Material Conversion: Choose any one material. You can now turn things you touch into this. They remain the exact form and size. At first only converting 10-20lbs eventually thousands of lbs. With enough practice become a golem of your material. Maybe learn to convert into a few more material types after years.
Clocking: You can set your brain speed. At first you can adjust your speed stretching a minute to you into what feels like 2m. The more you practice the more time you can stretch. You could choose to make it seem to you like time is going by fast also. If you are bored or waiting. Eventually learn to have your powers react increasing your processing instinctually when in danger. Eventually you'll be able to adapt this skill to provide slight buffs or debuffs in thinking speed to others nearby.
Triple: Triple strength usable without harming yourself. Starts for limited durations. Eventually expanding to full time. As your powers increase you can triple other of your aspects. Durability, speed, healing, or metabolism. You name it. Eventually, you might learn to triple external.
Scent: Something about your smell just makes those within proximity want to trust you. As long as they are in range of the scent. Even if they are unable to smell. With time the range can be expanded. You can also change the reaction the smell has with training. Maybe it fills those nearby with lust, anger or fear.
Pockets: At first you'll be able to pull small items out of your pockets. Only these items are manifested from your powers. Very weak at first you might only be able to pull out a pack of gum. At first any normal item that could or would be in a pocket. As you practice this begins to expand plausibility. Eventually your pockets becoming elastic allowing larger items to be withdrawn. These all must be real items governed by the laws of physics.
10% You can adjust one attribute of any nonliving item by 10%. Increase the hardness of metal. At first this will be base attributes. Decrease the durability of the locked door by 10%. Decrease the weight of my pack by 10%. Increase the weight of my bullies shoes by 10%. With time you can alter more conceptual ideas. Increase my PC speed by 10%. Increase the comfyness of my chair by 10%. With time maybe you'll be able to adjust more than one attribute.
Blessing: You may provide short lived blessing based on single sentences to any living thing. A mix of your words and intention will set what this does. At first "Stay healthy", might prevent someone from getting a cold even when exposed. "Be fruitful" to a fruit tree might cause the tree to produce more fruit. The powers of this start low and for a limited time. To the point where you might not even notice they are real. A high level blessing of "Stay healthy" could cure cancer or prevent sickness for years. This power takes more out of you than other powers. Maybe you could work on inverting the blessing to curses if you practiced.
Backtracker: You are able to travel back to where you've previously been. This allows you to reset physically to where you were earlier. This does not time travel. It only moves you to a previous physical location. With practice increase the amount of time you can backtrack. Gain an instinct to where you can backtrack to. With time maybe you can learn to backtrack specific states of being. Backtrack your body state to before you were shot. Backtrack your age back to 17. Maybe someday backtrack others.
Minor bonus: 1.>! Sidekick: You may pick one individual to get 1/5 of your abilities. They can grow in skill much slower than you. At any time choose a new sidekick. The current will lose their power. If you die, the sidekick will get your powers in full including the ability to assign a sidekick.!<
2.>! Cold Hard Cash: You'll have $250,000 deposited directly into your account or given to you. Tax aren't going to be an issue.!<
  1. Power Suppressor: Two sets of handcuffs immune to all powers. When placed on anyone with a power will deactivate it until cuffs are removed.

2024.06.02 05:13 MindlessJob1922 Has anyone else had this problem?

We have been renting from first key for 2 years now and we will more than likely sign for our third year as we love our home and don’t really have time to move. For the most part it has been a good experience until recently.
We came home one evening to find a hole in our window and the window is completely busted. We put duck tape over the whole to prevent further damage and immediately filed for a work order. After a week of waiting, I get an email stating that our service request has been canceled due to being unresponsive, but neither myself or my husband had a missed phone call from them. So I called the number on the email immediately to explain that we received no notification regarding the work order and the person on the phone said it wasn’t a problem and rescheduled it, for Memorial Day. Not a problem as I would be home that day as I didn’t have to work.
I received a second phone call from the maintenance crew stating they could be there on Saturday, said that was fine and I would make sure I was home during the scheduled time frame. At 11:30 the day of repair the maintenance number called stating that he wouldn’t be able to make it out due to an emergency but he would make a note of it in the system and I should be hearing back to reschedule. Not a problem, as the hole was covered.
A week later I received another phone call while I was at work from someone I haven’t spoken to regarding the window. I explain in detail what the damage was and how neither of us knew what happened as the window wasn’t damaged when we left for work that morning. She then proceeded to tell me that we were responsible for the damage as it wasn’t an act of god and suggested that we call our renters insurance company. Since I work as a licensed insurance agent, I explained that wasn’t how renters insurance works. Renters insurance is to cover my personal property and some liability coverage in the event that someone is injured on our property. It does not cover anything for the home. I also stated that the whole point of renting is so you are not responsible for these kinds of things, the rental company is.
She then goes on to say that since there is no known cause for the damage that it automatically falls on us the renters as it is considered damages and we had the option to call some one ourselves or pay the service fee and have them fix it along with paying for the repairs. At this point I was irritated as the lease does not clearly state who is responsible for unknown damages to the property. She then asked me to consider how much the expense would be for them if they just went around fixing windows.
This is the second window that has been broken now, the first one was from the maintenance guy who cracked a window our first month in the home trying to fix the crank (the house was built in the late 70s with the same windows) who said he would be back to fix it and never came back. Sorry for the long rant but long story short has anyone else had any issues of this nature? I get that if we broke it we need to replace or fix it, but that isn’t the case here. Just looking for some advice on how to move forward.

2024.06.02 05:11 whatamidoinghere79 Gym Crush

So I (44M) had this gym crush for quite some time, maybe 2 years or so. Beautiful girl in her twenties. Green eyes, dark hair, very friendly and social at the gym, and has quite an annoyed resting bitch face in general, not really directed at me. Given the age gap, I avoided making any moves and just exchanged stares with her, not knowing what to make of it. I caught her staring at me multiple times while not looking.
Given that we're both gym regulars, this meant multiple interactions were expected. She setup her dumbbell deadlifts literally right next to me a couple of times, even though the gym is pretty big and wasn't really crowded then. Another time, as many benches were empty, she decided to use the one right next to me. She came up to me once to ask how many sets I had left, but I didn't say anything beyond the standard. I wanted to use the same machine on a different day and she was using it, and she tried to stir up conversation, rambling about how she was taking too long and some other stuff I can't remember, but I couldn't get myself to say anything meaningful. All this happened over the span of a few months.
Fast forward, months later she popped up on my TikTok FYP doing some gym content, and I instantly recognized her. Now I knew her name, and her ethnicity (similar to mine). I contemplated talking to her about the videos so many times, but could never get myself to do anything.
Just a week ago, as I was doing lat pulldowns, she approached me waving with a big smile and asked me how much more do I have. I asked her to join in, which she did. At this point it was now or never, if I was planning to ever talk to this girl. I told her about the TikTok coincidence, so she said that's cool, and that she makes more Instagram content now. Immediately, she asked me for my account to my amazement. I gave it to her, and she saw the flag I had put up there, so she said your from ABC, I'm from XYZ (a nearby country that speaks the same language). Worth mentioning that she probably also heard me speaking the language with another female friend at the gym, but a long time before that. We had a good chat about workout topics, before she finished and left.
Two days later she stopped and said hi. We had another good gym-related chat. We were training the same muscle groups that day so I was expecting to bump into her a few times. She said if you need anything, I'm right here. As she was next to me, I asked her to spot me on the Smith incline bench press. I finished my set and she even gave me an applause 😅. She said that's a lot of weight, you could add 2 more ten pounds plates, and hit 225 lbs. I said I wish, but she was very convincing, spotted me again, and I hit a personal record!
Now, I haven't seen her since that day, but she mostly shows up on the weekends. My question is, should I start messaging her in Instagram? I can't tell if I was getting special treatment or was she just being social the way she is. Should I wait for more assurances or for her to initiate?
