So, i’m 21 and have been with my girlfriend for over four years now — we started dating when we were 17. our relationship always has been, and is still super healthy. Here’s the twist; we aren’t having a wedding. yes, you heard me right — no wedding sadly. as much as i’ve dreamt of having a big, beautiful wedding from a super young age, half of my family hates the other half of my family but i get along with everyone. so it would be a tough game of me “picking and choosing” who to invite and who to not invite, and i honestly couldn’t do that for the simple reason of i’m close with all of my family and have nothing to do with the beef that they have with each other. not only that, but we are 21 and broke, we definitely don’t have 40k to just fork out for a wedding.

Hi, all. I'm an American Pakistani Muslim desi guy who's kind of a late bloomer and was always behind, and I have ADHD. It took me 9 years to complete my bachelor's degree, finally at 27. I now finally make $72,000 a year after 10 years and still live with my parents or mama and baba in a 3-bedroom townhouse with a basement for the last 2 years now. Ever since I've been like 31, I've constantly been annoyed by my parents to get married and settle down and have kids and everything. So finally, when they told me about a girl who was 24 years old last year at the time, I said yes, and it was an arranged marriage. That girl is now 25 and my beautiful wife of 4 months. I love her so much, truthfully, and was a virgin before marriage and waited till my wedding night. Also, I am a loving and caring husband, but for starters, she hates me and doesn't love me. I feel there's no emotional connection between us, even though I try and buy her flowers and chocolates every day and hug and kiss her and text her and call her and always tell her how much I love her and how beautiful she is, but she doesn't reciprocate these feelings or anything aside from sex, which is because I want to and always engage or encourage her, which is why we have it 99% of the time. There's nothing else in our marriage or relationship, even though I feel like I'm such a loving and caring husband. Recently, I found out that she's pregnant, and everyone is happy, but her; she's miserable and sad. Hi. My (30-ish F) uncle (71) is staying with me for the next two weeks across the country because his house is in the last stages of being renovated and we'd thought it would be cool back in January. We've planned this trip since then, so it wasn't spontaneous nor without consent, but he's proving difficult for me to handle as a houseguest.
Thing is, he's genuinely sweet. He loves me and stepped in as a father figure of sorts when I was younger. I love him and we have a healthy, respectful relationship for the most part. However, he shows this affection by incessant info-dumping. I'm talking incessant - random unsolicited explanations about the American revolution, fun facts about lizards, etc., at any given time of day. And he's not uncomfortable with silence or anything. He really just wants to share and is excited about these topics.
It's too much for my brain to handle. I've already gently tried to express the overload issue to him, and if I'm lucky, he doesn't take it too personally. If I'm not, my uncle gets a bit sullen and clams up for a short while. The silence is nice even if awkward.
I get a little time away from him when he naps or goes to a museum, but I don't want to feel like a parent to him. Fortunately I'm not a parent and have no pets, because having my uncle over is proving to be a handful.
Any advice for helping to connect kindly to him whilst preserving my sanity?

Me and my husband recently got married (Both 30) During the planning process we decided that we wanted to do our wedding on a budget and keep it personal to us. We chose a local venue, made our own decor and planned the whole day ourselves with the help of our amazing MOH. For the wedding breakfast, only 90 seats were available so had to choose our guests carefully, and in the evening we could increase our guest numbers. After so much back and forth, we decided it would not be possible to have everyone's children at the wedding except from those that are related to us, especially since between our guests there would have been over 20 children, most under 10 years old. In addition, while we love all of our friends kids, they would not have appreciated the day as much as the adult would have. We let our friends know and they were very understanding, some also admitted that they would have preferred a child free night with their SO to relax.
My friend (Let's call her Stacey) had met when we were 10, but hadn't talked as much prior to wedding planning, so I had decided to invite her to the evening of the wedding. Stacey was a single mum to a six year old who had been in a relationship that had ended badly, which had led to a toxic custody battle on her side. She would often rant in front of her kid and stretch the truth, to which I would try to talk her down and support her in any way I could. My husband wasn't a fan of her since whenever we did meet up with her, she would only talk about herself and the latest dramas in her life, especially more people she had fallen out with, this seemed to be quite constant for Stacey, regardless, he accepted my wishes.
Fast forward to my hen do. The girls and my mum had planned a surprise hen do for me and it was a lot of fun. During the night (and after a few drink) I became curious as to who was not able to make it. My MOH mentioned a few people and their reasons (Not as if it mattered) and said "Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything from Stacey". I let it go and didn't think much more of it after that. After the hen do, of course we shared some photos of the hen do to socials. After a week I got a message from Stacey basically saying sorry that she could not attend, she didn't have child care, which is fully understandable.
A few weeks pass and she messages me again saying "I'm not sure if I can come yet, but if I do can I bring my new man?" My response was that I didn't know she had a new man but I would check the numbers and see what we could do. Her response was "Oh we're not together, we're just talking for now" I was in two minds since I didn't really want a complete stranger to be at my wedding day. I ended the conversation with, "I wasn't sure I was comfortable with that and for her to please let me know when she knew".
It is now nine days before the wedding, I am cooking dinner and doing the very final counts and remember that Stacey hasn't let me know if she could attend the wedding reception, so I reached out to her.
In short the conversation started with me asking if she would be there next week. She told me she could because of court cases along with other stuff and that she couldn't find child care and that she would come if her kid could come along too. Now this is understandable, except she lived with her mum who I know is more than happy to look after her granddaughter, in addition, this day had been planned so far in advance. I replied, I fully understand however so many other people have had to fork out for childcare and it would be unfair to those if I allowed her child, I added that I love everyone's kids but I could not afford them. She then proceeded to state that she no longer gets on with my friends, and that no one would find it unfair if her child attends and that it's "Only a buffet rights?" then proceeded to try and call me.
I put my foot down however said that I didn't want to lose her as a friend. She replied saying she "respects my choices and that her mum could have her child but then she would be sacrificing her time with her child since baby daddy now has every other weekend with their child". I thanked her for her understanding to which she said "Yeah it's just part of being a parent, and you haven't lost me as a friend. I'm not that petty lol. Me and child are a team so we will always do stuff together otherwise I just accept that I can't do anything, it is what it is. I don't think it would make you and husband hypocrites. Weddings are much better with children anyway. I responded with "Again, that being said, if everyone's kids were there, that would be over 20 kids, which could be chaos also" and she finished it with "You’ll understand one day when you have children yourself that children will always come first"
The wedding was great and after we heard nothing from her despite her being present on social media. No congrats, no comments about the dress or the photos when they came back. She just shared shady memes about friendship. 7 months later she messages me out of the blue saying "Hey babe, you okay?" I didn't really know what to say back and eventually, she cornered me at work in which was really awkward and she has since blocked me on social media.
I don't know if I should feel bad or if I should have tried harder. I was very present in her kids life before and she used to call me auntie like all of my friends kids. AITA

I live in Lisbon, Portugal, and Jeep Wranglers are ridiculously expensive. So first a bit of a rant and explanation on why I want a JK. Just went to the dealer to just get a quote for a new one, as I would like the 2024 4xe Wrangler with the updated interior. They will likely not even have the 2024 model until early 2025, because.... Europe. Always lagging behind. On top of that, he wasn't ashamed to give me a quote on the 2023 Rubicon base model that he needed to get rid of in the showroom and it was *just* shy of $100k. I was stunned; how can EU Jeep and the people who decide on Europes' / Portugals' import tariffs and car / CO2 taxes be taken serious?
Anyway, hope that for all Americans here the pain is less when they buy a new car, knowing that your fellow European Jeep aficionados are being royally scr*wed (new Jeep Wrangler is about 4-5 times the average annual salary in Portugal, let that sink in).
So I would like to find a 2nd hand 2016-2018 JK manual transmission, and I'd like to own one with the V6 3.6 relatively reliably engine. Somehow, I can only find 2.8 CRD diesel engines with automatic transmission (and all are like >$70k USD 2nd hand, just throw me off a bridge at this point).
Did Jeep ever release the V6 3.6L engine in Europe? Or was it not allowed due to regulations? Also any advice based on experience on what JK Wrangler to get in Europe is very welcome!

Venting a little bit. I understand some dispatchers don’t deserve a min of anyones time. But why shit on ALL dispatchers? Why are some brokers so strict about not working with a dispatch company? If a family owned/Operated company contacts you because you have a load that is going straight back to their home, would you not let them take it?
I own a small Hotshot/Expedited Trucking company, and I Dispatch for my uncles trucks and my cousins trucks as well. I am Extremely strict about never trans-loading any loads or booking a load under the MC whom is not going to take it. Ive got references from some of the leaders in LTL and expedited shipping in the country.
My cousin was in Minneapolis since Wed, on Fri morning a Broker posted a load and the notes read “ NO DISPATCH COMPANIES”
Being that we’ve been empty for days, I call the broker hear them out and then talk to them. As soon as he saw that my number (Personal Cell) wasn’t in FMCSA Automatically he went batshit. I was begging the dude to call the number on FMCSA So my cousin can confirm any questions he has, dude hung up on me and never answered again :/
Ended up Deadheading home empty from Minneapolis to Dallas 🤦🏽‍♂️

I(M) was at a beach bonfire with a (some new some not) group of friends, we were chatting and I was getting to know a girl a bit better and we lightly got onto the topic of drugs.
I said something like "don't worry, if you've done one I've definitely done it before" because I know she isn't the type of person to do many; then a friend that I've known for a while and had been hanging out with earlier in the day, where he'd asked about my painted nails and we had a very normal conversation about them, turns and says "if you've done anything else (implied sexual) I bet he's also done it too, look at his nails!". Like, what the fuck. I was pretty embarrassed because we'd just been talking about me being bi and she was just nicely curious and respectful, very compassionate, and then this happens (even though he literally knows nothing about what I have and haven't done lol).
Obviously I said I can't believe you said that and just tried to move on. He asked where the ciders (hard ciders for the Americans xo) were and asked me to pass him one, I refused so he asked her (like assuming she would subvert me because they've known each other for longer?) and bless her she said "I'm not giving you anything until you apologise"; which he was incredulous to and couldn't see it was biphobic and just ended up saying "I'm sorry you felt that way about it", which we both just scoffed at, I made a joke about him having done nothing (true) which we laughed at, and carried on talking.
I guess I don't know what to do, he doesn't have that many friends (not for these sorts of incidents just very awkward with new people), and I like hanging out with the group as a whole so it feels counterintuitive to make it awkward. However, while I know he's not exactly PC Principal, this felt like a pretty wild personal attack to embarrass me in front of someone new (I know they have a bit of history, and me and her were getting on like a house on fire so maybe he was just jealous?).

I'm curious to know how much were the general public in the two rival countries aware of potentially how close they were to such nightmarish scenarios. I know that there were drills done in American schools for example, which demonstrated what to do during a nuclear attack. The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings had given the world tragic real-life examples of that. So I know that the general public would atleast have had knowledge of the impact of a nuclear attack.
However, the way we look at the Cuban Missile Crisis today, is from a more broader perspective, which focuses on how close we'd come to possible nuclear armageddon or nuclear winter scenarios, which are much more dangerous and consequential scenarios than a single nuclear attack. So was the American public aware at that time, that they were potentially living in a scenario where the world could be changed forever in drastic ways? Was nuclear winter something that the general public across the world aware of at that time? Or is all of this something we only know in retrospect, about the nightmares that were made potential possibilities during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This same question also applies to Soviet public ofc, to the extent that they were told about all this by the USSR leadership

Hi there, my friend and I are trying to duo T17's for the first time. I'm running an aura bot and they are running Kinetic Bolt of Fragmentation Deadeye. Everything was going fine while levelling, but we've hit a way in T17's. The pob seems to suggest they have way more damage that we're actually seeing, and we're often dying randomly (although we are learning what mods we shouldn't be running, looking at you ele pen).
We'd like some advice on what we're doing wrong or how to improve the build and whether we're completely overestimating the damage output. We believe that the damage we output is very inconsistent, probably due to lack of overlaps. One thing we don't know is exactly how many bolts we should put in the pob. The build we were following had 43 as the number, but they had Awakened Fork which we don't.
We had a friend look over and they kind of suggested that KBoF might just be the wrong build for duos and instead to reroll something else. I'd love to know what people think and whether there's another skill we could use that would be better suited, whilst trying to reuse the gear we have (although we have around 50d to get new gear if required).

Basically me and my hubby were a long distance relationship but before I went to live in his country I specifically told him I wanted a wedding, mind you his younger sister got married the month before I came and no one invited me to the wedding (for her wedding my husband hired her a private make up artist, decorated the wedding hall, bought her dress to the house, attending her wedding even though he lives 6 hours away) FAST FOWARD I came a month later and he picked me up from the airport than we had a long drive 6 hours to his home town, we had to meet up with the sister who just married because she married a wealthy guy and he has a car and my husband doesn’t so I was already upset from not being invited so I didn’t want to see anyone because I wanted to have a wedding first and didn’t want to get in the car, She than proceeded to show me her wedding pictures, her dress, how her husband decorated the room for her wedding and did flowers. I never felt more mad and jealous in my life especially when she knew I never had a wedding or was even invited to hers. I legit hate her, a few day later me and my husband signed our wedding paper but it was no wedding, no talk of a wedding, NOTHING HAPPENED…. I asked repeatedly, I got into physical and emotional fights to get my point across that I wanted a wedding, he claimed he never did a wedding for be because of my “ behavior” , 6 months later no fucking wedding, my mother in law said it was too late for a wedding and people in her village would laugh at our marriage so we decided to just take pictures in a rented wedding gown in a hotel. Now I’m pissed every time we talk about a wedding or I see his sisters face I get soooo mad and bring up how he never had a wedding for me, it pisses me off. Am I over reacting, how can I control my feelings, can I save my feelings from getting in the way and save our marriage. ( oh and before I came to his country he showed me 2 pictures of a gold bracelet and said which one I wanted I picked which one I wanted, later when I came I saw his sister wearing the same bracelet, and he said he bought it for me but ended up giving it to her because I was acting “crazy”). I’m legit boiling at this point thinking about everything. We have no kids should I just leave him ( I feel used because I’m American and he is not and weddings is a big part in his culture and I know if it was someone in his family aunt, sister, etc they wouldn’t let them get married without a wedding and I feel he’s using me and knows I wouldn’t say nothing because I’m not from his culture )

Hey everyone, I have found this sub so helpful and am really grateful for the advice, support, and kind words consistently offered through this wonderful community.
I am American and have been in the UK for the last 2+ years on my spousal visa. My BRP expires July 10 and so I am due for the FLR-M extension. As per the advice in this group I was planning on applying 28 days before my BRP expires, which would be June 12. However, I had plans to go to a friends wedding back in the states June 26-July 1. Is it unrealistic or a bad idea to leave the country while my application is potentially still processing? Should I wait until July 1 when I am back in the UK to apply, even though that leaves only 10 days until my BRP expires?
