For weeks, I've been using the Mozeeda 5 Pack Safety Glasses for various tasks, and I must say, their features have really stood out.
When I first put them on, I was surprised by their size. They were surprisingly roomy, allowing me to wear them over my regular glasses without any discomfort. The soft nose piece and lightweight design made them comfortable enough for me to wear for extended periods, even during physically demanding tasks.
One of the highlight features for me was the anti-fog technology. After using traditional goggles, I found that these Mozeeda glasses allowed me to see clearly even in foggy conditions. It's a feature I would highly recommend for anyone who needs vision clarity for their work.
The safety glasses also proved to be versatile. I used them in various situations, from gardening to welding, and they performed well each time. They were able to protect my eyes from wind, sand, and flying debris, and their splash-resistant lenses were especially useful in the lab.
However, one downside I noticed was the durability. After a few weeks of use, the lenses started to show signs of wear, and the frames began to scratch easily. Despite these minor issues, the Mozeeda glasses proved to be a valuable addition to my safety gear.
In summary, these Mozeeda 5 Pack Safety Glasses are a practical and comfortable choice for anyone needing protection against various hazards. While they might require some maintenance to keep them in top shape, their versatility makes them a worthwhile investment.

These ToolFreak Rip Out Safety Glasses with Foam Padding are a game changer for anyone in a job that requires protective eyewear. The foam padding is comfortable and secure, making them a reliable option even in adverse weather conditions.
The detachable headstrap allows even more flexibility, so they can be worn in various ways. The case and cloth included for safekeeping are an added bonus. However, one minor drawback is that they might not be suitable for everyone, as some users may find them a bit too snug.
Overall, I highly recommend these Cute Safety Glasses for anyone looking for reliable and adaptable eye protection.

🔗Durable Smoke Safety Glasses with Green Lens for Ultimate Protection

I recently tried the Bouton 249-5907-207 Traditional Safety Glasses, and I must say, they're a game-changer. The smoke frame and green IR 3.0 lenses offer sturdy protection without sacrificing style. The built-in wire mesh side shields gave me a sense of security when working in my workshop, knowing my eyes were well-guarded.
One aspect that stood out was the molded nose bridge design, which felt comfortable and fit my face perfectly. The U-Fit spatula temples were a nice touch, allowing for a custom fit that didn't cause any discomfort throughout the day. Despite a few minor scratches from everyday use, the lenses remained scratch-resistant and clear.
While these glasses are heavy-duty and built to last, I did notice that the side shields could be more robust. A few occasions required me to adjust them so they would clip in properly. All in all, the Bouton 249-5907-207 Traditional Safety Glasses are a solid choice for anyone who wants the perfect blend of style and safety.

I was thrilled to try out these SQIMZAR Safety Glasses Goggles, especially after hearing about them from a friend who uses them at her nursing job. I appreciated the unique side shield design that not only protected my eyes from dust, pollen, and other particles but also kept them from getting irritated by saliva or blue light. The anti-scratch feature was a game-changer, ensuring that my vision stayed clear even after prolonged use.
What really stood out to me was the comfort level. These glasses were lightweight and designed to fit snugly without slipping, making them perfect for a variety of situations – from working in a lab to shooting a ball. And in case you're wondering, yes, they're great for activities like playing video games or watching TV, too.
Of course, no product is perfect, and I did notice that the anti-fog coating wore off over time, but overall, I was impressed with the comfort, protection, and style these glasses offered. If you're looking for stylish and effective safety eyewear, these SQIMZAR goggles are definitely worth considering.

🔗Comfortable Durable Safety Glasses for All

The Bolle Tracker Safety Glasses Twilight are the ultimate combination of style and protection, perfect for any outdoor enthusiast. I discovered these glasses a few weeks ago and they have seriously become a staple in my daily routine. The best part? My entire family can use them too.
From the moment I put them on, I felt the comfort envelop my face. The adjustable head strap meant that not only was I protected, but I was also comfortable all day long. The frame material and eye seal are exceptional when it comes to blocking out dust and other particles.
The 99.99% UVA and UVB light absorption feature is another outstanding highlight of these glasses, keeping my eyes safe even on the brightest days. And let's not forget the anti-fog and anti-scratch coating on both sides – what a game-changer!
Now, while these glasses are perfect in many ways, I did notice that they tend to fog up a bit after long hours of use. However, this doesn't take away from the overall amazing experience I've had with the Bolle Tracker Safety Glasses Twilight. If you're looking for a reliable pair of safety glasses that also fit perfectly and look fantastic, look no further – these are the ones!

🔗Cute Cat Eye Safety Glasses with Clear Anti-Fog Lens

Working in a woodshop as an amateur carpenter, I often found myself squinting through my old worn-out safety glasses that felt more like an accessory than a genuine protective measure. So when I stumbled upon Stoggles' Cat Eye Safety Glasses with Clear Anti-Fog Lens, I couldn't resist giving them a try.
As a first-time user, I was immediately drawn to the unique design that added a retro touch to the safety aspect. The protective barrier provided a sense of security and confidence while working, and the cat eye shape was a nice little detail that made the glasses stand out in a sea of regular safety eyewear.
One feature that truly impressed me was the lens' ability to block blue light. As someone who spends hours in front of computer screens and smartphones, this was a game-changer. My eyes felt less strained, and I appreciated being able to focus on work for extended periods without feeling the need to take breaks as often.
However, there was one downside to using these safety glasses. Although they boasted the ability to block 100% of UV rays, I noticed a very slight yellowish tint when looking at the sun. It wasn't enough to interfere with my work, but it was noticeable nonetheless.
Despite that minor inconvenience, I found the Stoggles Cat Eye Safety Glasses to be comfortable and functional. They stayed in place without any issues and were a breeze to clean. The frames were lightweight and sturdy, and I appreciated the added protection the side and top shields offered.
In conclusion, the Stoggles Cat Eye Safety Glasses with Clear Anti-Fog Lens proved to be a reliable and fashionable choice for someone like me who needed a functional safety eyewear solution without compromising on style. While they weren't perfect, the pros greatly outweighed the cons, making them a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for both style and safety.

The ERB Safety Lucy Girl Power at WorkTM Safety Glasses are a stylish and practical solution for women who need to wear safety eyewear. As a reviewer, I have been using these glasses for a while now, and they have made a significant difference in my daily life.
What sets these safety glasses apart from others is their ultra-lightweight frameless design. The one-piece, hard-coated polycarbonate lens not only offers excellent wraparound protection but also resists scratches perfectly. The 9.5 base curve provides an excellent wraparound structure for side protection, and the integrated nose pad ensures a comfortable, secure fit.
A feature that I particularly appreciate is the IPROTECT style, which makes these safety glasses an excellent choice for ladies who want to look stylish while wearing them. The sunglasses come with a 99% UVA and UVB protection, complying with the ANSI Z87.1 standard for high-impact protection.
Despite the many positive aspects of these safety glasses, there are a few cons. For instance, they do not have an adjustable temple, and they do not come with anti-fog or anti-scratch features. Moreover, the sunglasses have a clear, smoke, and indoooutdoor mirror lens options, and they are only available in a clear and smoke lens color options.
Overall, the ERB Safety Lucy Pink Safety Glasses are a reliable and stylish option for women who need safety eyewear in their daily lives. The combination of comfort, style, and safety features makes these sunglasses a great choice for anyone looking for practical and chic safety eyewear.

Just the other day, I found myself in need of protective eyewear for a project I was working on. As a craftsman, I knew the importance of keeping my eyes safe from dust, debris, and other hazards. That's when I stumbled across the Titus Retro Style Safety Glasses.
These glasses offered a unique blend of style and function that caught my eye right away. Overall, I found the Titus Retro Style Safety Glasses to be a great investment. They provided the perfect balance of style, function, and protection, making them a great choice for any project. Despite the minor drawbacks, I can confidently say that these glasses exceeded my expectations and delivered a high-quality solution for keeping my eyes safe.

Vocals and band were good, just a really odd show. Vocalist did not look well and sat on a stool. They never turned on spit lights so you could only see shadows. Could not s verge band. Played very few hits. Not the most fun show.

2024.05.26 07:03 korben578 Does this sound like SIBO?

Hey this will be a long one, I have had a year of constant debilitating nausea, retching, acid reflux, severe weight loss, diarrhoea and constipation
I will go into more detail of the symptoms after this explanation.
This all came on when I did a few night shifts, I assumed it was me messing up my sleep so went back to day shifts but the problems hung around, it's still here over a year later.
I was in the UK when it started and was tested by my GP for a full blood count, chrons, colitis, celiac, ibd. They then put me on a year long wait to see a gastro specialist and stuck me on cyclizine.
In the meantime they were sure it was GERD and tried me on many different medications for it. I tried Lansoprasole, Omeprazole, Famotidine, Gaviscon, Nizatidine. All with the same results (no change for around 5 days followed by horrendous stomach cramps to the point where I can't stand up straight or walk. That symptom always went away around 2 days after stopping each h2 or PPI.
So I took the initiative to go back to Australia (my home country) to see a specialist here as the wait was around a week, they ran more bloods, breath and stool samples and ruled out helibactor, parasites, all hormone levels are perfect, all vitamins and nutrients are perfect, liver, kidneys all good.
The specialist said I could have a backed up colon after an x-ray and put me 2 bowel preps, coloxyl with senna, magnesium and prucalopride. After a few weeks of pooing water nothing changed.
He then took me for a gastroscopy where he found my throat was slightly eroded, and where my stomach connects to my intestines is dilated slightly. He has given up at this point and has prescribed me Mirtazapine as he thinks it will help. I think this is a band-aid solution and want to know what is actually wrong. Im not in a position to take it for a few reasons anyway.
Figures for reference: 23 Year Old White Male Croatian, Kiwi, English background, born in Sydney Was 85kg before all these issues, now 65kg 185cm tall Ex Smoker (on and off for years) Do not drink alcohol Was vegan for 3 years, went pescatarian 6 months ago, didn't help the symptoms Was a firefighter before all this in very good shape 10% bodyfat
List of symptoms:
Nausea
Dry Mouth & Sore Throat
GERD-style symptoms (heartburn & tasting stomach acid)
Chest Pain
Tingly sensation in fingers and feet
Stomach Pain
Headaches
IBS-style symptoms (constipation & diarrhoea)
Thinning Hair
Weight Loss
Fatigue
IN DEPTH BELOW:
Nausea:
Debilitating nausea affects me every single day, I can feel a slight betterment to this symptom in the morning maybe for an hour or so and then it becomes worse throughout the day. For most nights I have been taking cyclizine to be able to try and get some hours of sleep, sleeping upright and waking up every few hours.
Dry Mouth & Sore Throat:
I wake up with both symptoms, and I've always and still drink 3L of water each day. It doesn't matter how much I drink I am constantly with a sore throat and dry mouth.
GERD Style Symptoms include heartburn and tastes of stomach acid.
I experience these alongside the nausea, I get heartburn and have to eat in small amounts. I am not hitting my calorie goals throughout the day, I think I am very malnourished and I constantly feel the need to burp but I can't. I also feel the acid come up my throat into my mouth - this happens with the burp too, if I am able to.
Chest Pain:
The chest pain feels like someone sitting on my chest, imagine your dog or child sitting on your chest, that's how I feel most points of the day. I feel short of breath and am almost trying to breathe more because I feel my lung capacity is reduced.
Tingling Sensations:
This doesn't happen every day but probably 3-4 times a week. It lasts for 30-minute bursts and comes along especially when the nausea is bad. It feels like "pins and needles" and comes along with shooting pains from my fingers up my arm. I also experience this in my feet and it goes into my shins.
Stomach Pain:
The stomach pain is in the top right corner, under my rib and it is a dull, intense pain that can last hours. I also get stomach pain in the lower left of my stomach which feels like a generic stomach ache that lasts for an hour or so at a time - this is random and does not correlate with exercise or food.
Headaches:
I have headaches on the left and right temple of my head and it feels like someone is pressing their thumb into my temple. Sometimes, this can feel like my head is being pushed forward from the highest point of the skull at the back of my head. These also travel into my eyebrow/eye area.
Constipation and Diarrhoea:
This is random, with no distinct cause or correlation. Sometimes it is constipation and diarrhoea in the same toilet run. This is ongoing throughout the night too, waking me up and not allowing me to sleep. The left lower side pain I feel (the stomach ache) also accompanies these symptoms. I have to constantly be near a toilet in case of this.
Thinning Hair:
I'm not sure if this is a coincidence but during this time period I have noticed more hair falling out and thinning hair.
Long Healing Times:
I've noticed bruises, cuts or anything else I seem to take a long time to recover whereas, I never used to bruise easily and if I had a cut it'd heal quickly.
Weight Loss:
I assume this is because I've not been able to keep any nutrients or energy in my system but I've lost about 20kg
Fatigue:
I wake up tired, I'm sleeping longer than I have before and wake up exhausted. I am tired throughout the day.
Anything anyone can suggest would be incredible. Or if anyone knows a good Gastro specialist, naturopath, whatever in the Sydney area that is keen to help, bulk billed or private I don't care I just don't want to keep suffering.
Cyclizine helps about 40% in the fact that it stops me gagging and retching but the nausea never goes. Ondansetron doesn't help and makes me feel out of it. Metoclopramide did nothing too with weird sides.

I recently got my hands on the CZ75/85 grips from handicraftgrips, and I must say, I'm really pleased with the quality and style of these grips. The smooth, resin surface is a perfect match for my hand, providing a secure and comfortable grip. The full-size grips fit perfectly with my CZ75 B, but I've heard they're also available in a compact version.
One thing that I truly appreciate about these grips is the attention to detail in creating them. Each one is handmade, which shows in the precision and craftsmanship. However, it's a bit of a hit-and-miss, as the grips I received had some slight imperfections, which can be a downside for those who value consistency. But overall, I'm happy with my purchase and will definitely continue to use it for my CZ75 B.
Don't forget to check out the handicraftgrips store for more awesome designs that could fit your hand and your CZ75 series firearms.

As a satisfied user of the BCM Gunftr KAG FDE MLOK grip, it has been an incredible addition to my arsenal. The Flat Dark Earth finish perfectly matches the rest of my equipment, and the grip's MLOK compatibility ensures a seamless integration with my system. The biomechanically efficient forward rake design enhances my weapon manipulation and provides relief to my wrist, elbow, and shoulder during extended shooting sessions or drills.
There have been no negative experiences to note, making this product a 5-star choice for those needing a reliable and comfortable grip.

🔗Torus Revolver Wood Grips: Smooth, Classic, and Beautiful

https://preview.redd.it/1cjw0ic4dp2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5e28d632dc9bc0e37d2baa805a521ffc2b6c5fd
I recently added a pair of FN America FN High Power Wood Grips to my trusty FN High Power pistol, and I must say, they've transformed its look and feel. The smooth, tactile wood matches perfectly with the pistol, and the FN logo beautifully engraved into the palm area adds a touch of class. The grips have a light polyurethane coating that protects them from scratches while maintaining their natural wood finish.
Using these grips has made a noticeable difference. They provide a better grip in any weather condition and give my hand a more comfortable hold on the pistol. However, one downside is that the wood can be slippery when damp, so a bit of friction tape may be required in those situations. Overall, these FN High Power Wood Grips have elevated my pistol's look and feel, making it even more enjoyable to use.

🔗UURig R075: Adjustable, Ergonomic Camera Grip Handle with Cold Shoe

https://preview.redd.it/9ib4zcw4dp2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4a6e8d89f34f9d4b5b6d3559f400d793fa0a224
I recently gave the CZ 75 Wood Grips a try during my last outdoor shoot, and I must say it was quite an amazing experience. As a freelance videographer, I have had my fair share of uncomfortable hand positions while balancing the heavy camera equipment. But with these grips, the hassle of adjusting the handgrips and managing the camera simultaneously was a thing of the past.
Right off the bat, I loved the compatibility of the grips, left and right, which I discovered on a whim when I saw the universal feature. It is a game-changer when you're on location and need to switch things up quickly. The ergonomic design made the handles sleek and comfortable to hold, making it feel as if I were holding a professional videography tool, rather than just a camera.
The lightweight build was another aspect that I couldn't overlook. The grips weigh just 164g, which is incredibly convenient when shooting handheld video for an extended period. I could easily switch between my left and right hand without worrying about fatigue.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. One minor drawback I experienced during the shoot was the absence of a more comprehensive selection of camera compatibility. It would have been amazing to see the grips cater to a broader range of cameras, which I am sure would be well-received by other videographers.
In conclusion, the CZ 75 Wood Grips made my photography session that much more enjoyable and comfortable. I highly recommend them to any filmmaker or videographer looking for an ergonomic and user-friendly hand grip for their expensive camera equipment. Now if only they could expand their compatibility, they would be the perfect companion for any professional setup.

🔗Orange and Black SLR Grips for Sportbike Riders (Spider Traction Gel)

https://preview.redd.it/5j9r0i85dp2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=394a990e6bffebfcb7a917bd5a3616a734a5257c
When I first laid my hands on the Black/Orange Spider SLR Grips, I was immediately struck by their sleek design. The dual-layer construction offered a perfect blend of thinness and precision, making them an ideal choice for sportbike enthusiasts like me.
The open-end design was a game-changer, allowing me to use them with bar end sliders with ease. However, I did notice that the fit was a bit snug on my particular bike's 7/8" bars. It required some adjustment to get the grip just right, which was a minor inconvenience.
Once the grips were in place, I was blown away by their performance. The Spider Traction Gel provided a stunning grip that dampened vibrations like no other grip I've tried before. It felt like I was in complete control of my bike, even on rough terrains.
One downside I experienced was the longevity of the grips. After a few months of use, I noticed that the rubber was starting to wear down. I found myself needing to replace them more often than I would have liked.
Despite the minor concerns, I have to say that the Black/Orange Spider SLR Grips have become an essential part of my daily riding routine. They offer a perfect combination of grip, comfort, and style that makes every ride a joy. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-notch grip that will take their motorcycling experience to the next level.

2024.05.26 06:59 rustycomer Another monitor advice post.

So I am redoing some things on my sim rig. I currently run 3 27”144hz 1080p monitors
I also play a lot of truck sim and farm sim. Less farm sim because of the massive fish eye effect on the side monitors.
So I’m considering buying the following: one 55” oled, 3 43” fast response time tv’s, 3 32” 1440p monitors, 1 57” Samsung (same as dual 32” 4k), Or stay with the 1080p monitors and get some flight sim peripherals.
I can’t decide. I will say the 27’s leave me wanting more. I have a quest 2 but vr fatigue is real but the new pimax crystal light is very tempting.
I would love to hear everyone’s opinions.

Having tried out the Strike Pistol Grip for CZ Evo, I must say it has become a reliable addition to my daily pistol-carrying routine. Its sturdy and sleek design perfectly fits the CZ Evo, providing a secure and comfortable grip. The black color adds an elegant touch to the gun, making it look even more stylish.
One of the standout features I appreciate is the precise manufacturing of this grip. It fits the CZ Evo like a glove, with no wobble or imperfections. This attention to detail really sets it apart from other aftermarket grips I've used. Additionally, the grip's texturing offers a positive grip without being too aggressive, providing a balance that has been a refreshing change for me.
However, there were a couple of downsides to my experience. Firstly, the installation process could have been easier, as the screws required a slightly more forceful tightening than I would have liked. This was a minor inconvenience, but nothing that would deter me from using the grip.
Overall, I highly recommend the Strike Pistol Grip for CZ Evo. Its great fit, comfort, and sleek design make it a worthy addition to any CZ Evo owner's collection. Just be prepared for a slightly more challenging installation process.

When the NAA GBGL Long Rifle Boot Grip arrived at my door, I couldn't wait to give it a try. This set of two wooden grips are designed specifically for NAA's 22 Long Rifle Minirevolvers, and they've got the unique grain pattern to prove it.
The moment I held them in my hands, I was taken with the size and heft of them. They truly make the gun feel more like a weapon you'd expect from a much larger platform. The oversized Bootstyle grip is perfect for those of us who like a substantial handle.
Unfortunately, these wooden grips aren't rubberized, which could be a downside for some. However, the trade-off is the natural feel they offer, which I found to be incredibly comfortable over time. The grip just seemed to effortlessly form to the shape of my hand.
The only complaint I have is the lack of rubber in the grips. For those who prefer a more tactile surface, this could be an issue. But overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase. The NAA GBGL Long Rifle Boot Grip is a solid choice for anyone looking to beef up their NAA 22 Long Rifle Minirevolver and add a touch of class to a functional piece of equipment.

You know that feeling of getting your hands on a perfectly crafted piece, where every detail is meticulously done? Well, that's exactly what using these Ed Brown Grips feels like. They may look like just another set of handgun grips, but take one in your hand and it's game over.
What really stood out for me was the Cocobolo wood - not just because it boasts a striking appearance, but because it's the densest and strongest of all the rosewoods. It's the perfect choice for high-quality grips like these.
However, there's a tiny downside - they're not cut for an ambi safety. But hey, perfection isn't perfect, right?
These grips have a certain charm about them that makes holding your Taurus revolver feel like a luxury experience. And when you're working with a tool as important as a firearm, feel really matters. So, while they might seem like just another part to some, to me, they're the difference between a good day and a fantastic one.

Buyer's Guide

Welcome to the buyer's guide section for CZ 75B Wood Grips. In this section, we will discuss the important features, considerations, and general advice about the CZ 75B Wood Grips to help you make an informed decision when purchasing one.

Wood Grips vs. Plastic Grips

One of the primary features to consider is the choice between wooden grips and plastic grips. Wooden grips have a more natural and comfortable feel, which many users appreciate. They also don't slip as easily, even when the firearm is wet or greasy. However, plastic grips are often more durable, last longer, and are lighter weight.

https://preview.redd.it/6dyi0xmpcp2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74e393524a575271f9d96862376bea36a15a20d7

Quality and Appearance

When looking for CZ 75B Wood Grips, pay attention to the quality and appearance of the grips. High-quality wood grips should be made from durable materials that can withstand frequent use without warping or cracking. The finish should be smooth and even, without any rough spots or uneven sanding. Additionally, consider the overall appearance and whether it suits your personal style or the aesthetics of your CZ 75B.

Price

Budget is an important consideration when purchasing CZ 75B Wood Grips. These grips can vary greatly in price due to differences in material quality, craftsmanship, and brand reputation. Determine how much you're willing to spend and compare the available options accordingly. Look for grips that offer good value for money, rather than just the cheapest option available.

Customization and Accessories

Some CZ 75B Wood Grips manufacturers may offer additional customization options or accessories. Consider whether you want to add a laser sight, holster, or other accessory to your firearm. Also, look for grips that may be compatible with multiple firearms if you plan to purchase additional units in the future.

https://preview.redd.it/jndinu7qcp2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52b01e42dea6ec6e3d4cf59e194d19eb088a3141

Customer Reviews and Ratings

Before making a purchase, read customer reviews and ratings for the CZ 75B Wood Grips you're considering. This will provide valuable insights into the product's quality, durability, and overall satisfaction from previous buyers. Look for reviews that mention specific features you're interested in, such as grip comfort, durability, and appearance.

Brand Reputation and Longevity

Another important factor to consider is the brand's reputation and the products' longevity. Research the manufacturer's history, customer support, and warranty policies to ensure you're buying from a reliable and trustworthy company. Additionally, remember that high-quality products often come with higher prices but can save you money in the long run by reducing the need for replacement parts or repairs.

Maintenance and Care

Finally, consider the maintenance and care requirements for the CZ 75B Wood Grips. While wood grips can add an aesthetic appeal to your firearm, they generally require more maintenance than plastic grips. Make sure the grips are made from a material that can withstand regular cleaning and oiling, and follow the manufacturer's recommended care instructions to maintain their quality and durability.

2024.05.26 06:52 Ezme530 Feeling so defeated and depressed…really need some advice or even comfort, I am exhausted.

I had my surgery on 08/14/2023, so I am 9 months post op. I was diagnosed with sludge and debris and since surgery I continued having minor aches and twinges but nothing severe and was just so happy and anxious for it to be all over and was ready for my new life. Well just 5 days ago I was getting shoulder pain and more side discomfort and aches under both ribs in the front and then at 3am I was woken up to horrendous pain that wrapped around my upper midsection from my sternum and radiated to my back. I was crawling and couldn’t even talk and begged for my partner to take me to the ER. Once we were there they gave me morphine for the pain and did a CT with contrast and ultrasound (both showed nothing) the only thing that was abnormal was elevated liver enzymes of 200 and the other 146. They sent me home saying they believed it to be a virus, as I had some diarrhea prior. Then after I was released I began having lots of yellow diarrhea and nausea that would come and go. The diarrhea stopped and I’ve had 2 stools one which was yellowish and the next light brown. I am still having the discomfort and aches on my side and am so upset they found nothing, during my surgery they never found stones or anything of concern that could explain this pain, just minor inflammation. I am so upset and my quality of life has plummeted, I did get a referral to a GI specialist and have a follow up with my primary on 06/03 to get labs and see how my liver enzymes are doing. I just wanted to vent and see what everyone else maybe thought this could be? I did have diarrhea and nausea and I really don’t think it was a stomach bug as the pain was like no other and caused my enzymes to go up. I also have this neck pain that is on the right side and radiates to the top of my shoulder and down my right arm.

2024.05.26 06:38 hillbarn28 Need some outside thoughts

LO will be 8 weeks on Monday. I started off with the potential of being an over supplier if I really stuck to pulling every 2-3 hours. I was in a great routine of pumping and had just frozen my first couple of bags and thought I was starting to get things figured out.
Then at 3 weeks PP, LO had some delayed birth trauma show up on the back of his head in the way of swelling under the scalp. Birth was not an easy adventure and ended in an emergency c section. He’s completely fine, but we were admitted to our local children’s hospital for ALL of the imaging and put through the gauntlet of a child abuse protocol. A possible head injury on an infant isn’t taken lightly. The stress of it all and not pumping for over 14 hours tanked my supply and my mental status.
I’ve spend the last 4 weeks working to rebuild my supply and had been supplementing with formula only for LO to start having liquid stools with mucous and lots of gas issues in the last 2 weeks that were progressively getting worse. We did a stint of 36+ hours of only breastmilk last weekend in an attempt to see if it was formula that was causing the issue, but the stools got worse.
This past week we transitioned to only formula, and switched to the sensitive version. We now have actual poops again, minimal gas issues, and no mucous. Which tells me he was having a reaction to something in my breastmilk. And with that, the final nail was driven in my pumping adventure.
So now I am dealing with the grief of no longer being able to provide breastmilk for my baby without hurting him, on top of dealing with the grief that my body caused him so much trauma at birth that he had delayed subaponeurotic fluid swelling.
Lots of trauma and grief to work through, and I will get it figured out. LO is too worth it to not figure it out. But I am now wondering if it’s worth keeping one pump a day and freezing? Is it worth having breastmilk in the freezer even though LO can’t currently eat it? Am I forgetting something that might make it worth having at least a small stash? I need to weigh pros and cons before I fully dry my supply up.
Pic of my little boy for payment for any advice that folks might want to give. I’m open to hearing any and all perspectives.

2024.05.26 06:25 Simple_Programmer890 I have HIV symtoms

I sometimes fell feverish. At tims I get hives but idk if they are bug bites however I get scared. I feel extremely fatigue since 2 years ago. I have a high sexual count. However I tested last year trought a rapid test and it was non reactive. However I had sexual partners in the past year , about 8 new ones. 7 men and 1 females. All encounters were condom. However I’m scared I have hiv since I experience thaws symptoms. I tested on April with vein draw, and came back non reactive with all std panels. But I stell feel feverish ?????. I been googling symptoms all over like a manic. I had the same symtoms from two years ago. Sweaty, fever, tired, flu symptoms, but some how still negative. Is this something to worry about.

2024.05.26 05:29 maxnoprinter Today is my first day alive.

I woke up today in mourning. My ego died…after a year of breath work classes and my almost 1 year of being sober from alcohol I was finally “told” to do kundalini yoga. The class was an hour but felt like eons . I felt like I was on acid …. I saw myself as a super tiny person .. the size of a rice grain. Sliding down from my own nose like a booger, I saw myself like Moses in the basket floating down the Nile. I got closer to the opening off my nose and I began clinging onto my nostril. The wind was blowing, like a tornado. It got stronger every single breath I took. I heard a loud voice yell out LET GO! before another breath came in so strong and peeled back my fingers and I blew in the wind into the black void. But I could see EVERYTHING clear as day! I blew sooooo far , I saw so many grids and I was bouncing off them. I was in a galaxy..It was my first time meeting my actual self. I said “I will let you show me everything just please give me the color pink. It makes me the calmest. ” and immediately everything , the shapes, the grid , all of the lights I saw turned pink. And all of the things that I am scared of came to meet me, before being blown away by my exhales.. I kept hearing the voice ( my voice) singing and telling me who I was. I cried soooo much during this and felt my stomach tremble every breath. i felt the fire leave the bottom of my spine and travel to my brain, it was so hot! Like I was having a fever. It was soooo orgasmic like omfg. I saw a truth that I’ve been praying to find. After I got home , I knew the answer to everything. I don’t fight it anymore. I am exalted. And now my body all of a sudden only wants to eat fruits and vegetables. Lol. Everything flows like a river now. We are apart of something wayyyyyyyyy bigger. Omg. God is within. People always say that it’s a scary thing to have a spiritual awakening but I honestly haven’t stopped crying. I haven’t seen the world like this. I didn’t even know .. that this was happening. We have so many external variables that are distracting us from reaching this potential. We have to find our way back and ascend! Time is not real! I am so happy I finally understand. I am finally tapped in. And I am in the ETERNAL NOW. I have no idea what the “past” is. I only know what is NOW. Wow. I’m shaking and crying typing this. I hope that everyone can feel this. Beyonce’s Lion King : The gift album resonates so much more with me. It’s kundalini. There is so much more to learn wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading 💖

2024.05.26 05:27 kappy2319 Building my first ever PC, for gaming. I have parts ideas but am really looking for guidance

Questions
Is this a brand new build, or an upgrade to an existing build?
Brand new build.
Please list any existing parts or monitor(s) you have that you would like to re-use with this build. For upgrades, a PCPartPicker list of your full build is extremely helpful. Be as specific as you can be here, including links or exact model numbers of each component whenever possible.
The only thing I have so far is a Dell UltraSharp U2722DE 27.0" 2560 x 1440 60 Hz Monitor, which I use for work.
I'd like to use that monitor for this build too, if that's reasonable.
What will this PC be used for? Examples include things like gaming, general/multimedia use, photo/video editing, coding, AI/ML, etc. Include specific games and applications you intend to run, and any particular performance goals you have, as each may have different specific hardware needs.
Gaming, specifically:
According to the Steam recommended specs, this means I need:
What country will you be purchasing in? If you are in the US, do you live near a Micro Center? For other countries, please check if your country is supported by PCPartPicker by using the country selector dropdown on the top right - if not, please provide some links to reliable local vendors you are comfortable ordering from.
I am in the US, and I live close to a Micro Center.
Do you need one or more monitors included in the budget? Please list how many and any size/resolution/refresh rate preferences if needed.
I already have a Dell UltraSharp U2722DE 27.0" 2560 x 1440 60 Hz Monitor, and I'm fine using that for this build if that's ok for gaming.
What is your preferred and maximum budget range for this build, in local currency? Parts lists may sometimes have additional shipping costs. Please note whether prices in your country include sales tax or not, and adjust your budget accordingly. Typically VAT countries will have it included in the part list prices, whereas regular sales tax countries like the US and Canada will not.
My PCPartsPicker puts me at around $1,700 total, but I already have the monitor, so I'd be spending about $1,200. I'm going to try to stay under $1,000 by buying used parts, but I'm ok with the estimate for new parts being around $1,200.
I'm trying to balance just meeting the recommended Steam specs above, while keeping the budget low, but not buying parts that are way out-of-date. If another $20-40 here or there would make a big improvement to the experience of playing games, then I'd like to upgrade. At the same time, if I can spend even less without a worse experience, great.
Do you need WiFi, or do you have a wired ethernet connection available?
I need WiFi.
Do you have any specific size or noise requirements for the build?
No, but medium and quiet would be nice. I would like the option to upgrade parts in the future. And since this is my first build, I don't need to get too small if that makes it more complicated to build.
Do you have any aesthetic preferences for color or lighting? Describe what you're looking for, or feel free to provide some links to examples that may help. Some people prefer an inobtrusive stealth build, while others may prefer a case full of rainbow RGB.
I'd lean toward a simple, classic aesthetic. A few days ago I saw a picture of a modern PC built in a 90s computer case, which is an extreme version, but I liked that (can't find the original picture, was similar to this but all white inside).
Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.
I'd like to be able to upgrade things in the future, but minimize costs at first to stick within what I need for the games listed above.
I will follow the instructions.
PCParkPicker ideas
This is an attempt to lay out some ideas, but I'm very new to this. I'm not even sure if these parts really meet my needs, or if there are clearly better options. I tried looking most of them up on Reddit, Rtings, and PCMag.

2024.05.26 05:13 josukehair Exhausted after minimal/light exercise. Is this normal after a “sedentary” lifestyle?

hi everyone. first off, i just want to say this will be a relatively long post. i’m really desperate and sad, looking for answers and similar experiences.
i’m a 23 year old female, 5’2” and 122lbs.
for some background: i have been sedentary for a majority of my life, ever since elementary school. i have some pretty mild asthma. i average around 1-3k steps a day and can easily average 500-900 steps on my days off from university and work. i’ve been like this for a very long time. i’ve always preferred being indoors and lounging around. i’ve gotten frequent heart palpitations my entire life, my first being during middle school gym, any amount of stairs completely winds me, and walking more than 8k a day leaves me bedridden the next day.
i’m not fat, but being so sedentary has gotten to a point where i feel very sick. i was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency (18.7 ng/mL) earlier in the year and although i’ve now raised it to 31.0, i still feel pretty bad. i was then diagnosed with IBS. now, i’m being sent in for a sleep study because of my extreme fatigue. i’ve gotten my heart checked multiple times. i’ve been to the ER in panic over heart palpitations so countless EKGs, i’ve gotten a holter monitor for 10 days, an echo, and a stress test. i got a barium and IV contrast CT scan of my entire abdomen and chest, and a calprotectin stool test. for blood tests i’ve gotten: rheumatoid factor, c-reactive protein, ANA IFA, B12, magnesium, full iron and full thyroid. the only thing that came back odd was a low TSH of 0.216 that, two days later, rose to 0.416. i have a thyroid ultrasound scheduled for may 31st because of this.
i just feel so sad and depressed. i try to exercise and feel worse than ever every time. the extreme fatigue that overtakes me does not feel normal in comparison to my friends my age. i can’t keep up with them and walk around big cities or malls because i feel so overcome with exhaustion and malaise. i’m only 23 and feel like i’m at least 74 with a some severe disease underlying disease. i have no idea how to pace myself because i try to just walk around and it feels too much. can i truly be THIS out of shape at such a young age even without being overweight? i tried to get more active so i bumped my steps to 6,000 every day for 3 weeks, and suddenly became entirely bedridden for 2 weeks after.
today, i went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes, 2,000 steps for the work out and 6,000 for the entire day. it was inclined and a brisk pace. 149bpm was my average heart rate. i came back home around 5:30pm and could barely keep my eyes open anymore by 8:30pm.
what should i do? is this a normal consequence to being sedentary that i should push past? or should i look into more testing?

2024.05.26 04:51 Woulfsd The cure

I believe that POIS is a symptom of a migraine triggered by orgasm, and I also believe that there is a cure for it, although not from doctors nor their medicines.
First of all, POIS/migraine can last as long as 2 weeks or more depending of several factors like diet and overall health. The recovery after POIS/migraine can also last as long as 2 weeks or more.
Thus, you can easily be sick for as long as a month if you don't change your habits. Add to the equation an active sexual life and you will be permanently sick.
These changing of habits I propose can also take months, even years to really make a difference and help you, as you are not a machine and can't unfuck yourself by pushing a button, or taking a pill, unfortunately. You will have to be patient and trust the process.
I won't elaborate very much on the whys of each as it would become a very long post:
After consistently doing this for more than a year, I believe that I'm cured. Chronic fatigue, social anxiety and depression, which were the most terrible things that I had, are very mild and disappear as soon as the day goes on. I'm full of energy and can't wait for the next day. I even wrote this whole post just because I can.

2024.05.26 04:40 KodiesCove How can I ease my symptoms?

Hey all
So, I've had sleeping issues my whole life. Only confirmed sleep disorder I have is sleep apnea, and as you can guess insomnia.
For a few years, I was taking trazadone, but I've learned that what was happening was that, in combination with a medication I no longer take, it was basically making me so fatigued that I just couldn't stay up any longer (passed 9pm. Figured this out after getting taken off the other med, and having the traz dose halfed)
Now, even going back up to my original dose of trazadone, it still doesn't out me to sleep, all it does is make me fatigued throughout the day.
I decided to stop taking it til I can get in with my psych, and that also wasn't all that great of an idea.
I have ambien for emergencies, but tonight it's not working.
What's been happening is, if I don't take the ambien I'm waking up every hour on the hour over heating, usually from nightmares (this is a new thing the developed over the last year or so. I used to be able to sleep solidly once a sleep) and it's just.... not pleasant.
I'm not really sure of what to do. Firstly, I'm only grateful in this regard for being disabled and not having a job or other obligations where I need to be on a strict sleep schedule. However as I'm sure we're all aware here, improper and going with out sleep feels God awful. I wouldn't be as worried or asking for advice if I was able to get quality, sleep through the night sleep like I used to.
I don't know when I'll be able to get in with my psych to see about a different sleeping med, so I'll take any advice people have for me.
I already listen to soothing stories (shout out to soothing pods on YouTube) to try and focus and tire my busy mind, I keep my room at a comfortable temperature, I limit my caffeine in take, and block out as much blue light as I can.
Silly, but is there any merit to sleepy time tea?
Melatonin doesn't really do anything. If it gets me to sleep, it's only for an hour and I wake up overheating every. Single. Time.
I don't remember having this much trouble with all this back when I was a teenager lol Really I feel like if I could just STAY asleep, I'd fair much better, but my body does not seem intent on doing that...

2024.05.26 04:19 strawberry_kerosene Previously Sick Patient with Symptoms STILL

I didn't know what to title this but have been sickly since February I believe. It started with a sore and itchy throat... later I started spitting up mucus. So I took some dollar store off brand of Dayquil one morning, I sat down on a chair with my mom and was talking to her when everything started spinning. I panicked so bad I had my boyfriend drive me to the hospital, they told me I had Influenza A and eventually the high faded-ish. Why do I say ish? Because the world was still spinny and it hurt every day. My head would hurt and hurt and hurt, I would get sharp pains. I started puking everything up and couldn't hold anything down for two weeks and had to go to the hospital again where I found out I now had Influenza B, Covid and Bronchitis. 4 viruses. I had chest pains, lack of hunger, fatigue, insomnia etc., and some of this still has not gone away. It's April now. Should I be concerned?
List of symptoms: - headaches - puking/spitting up mucus - sharp pains - chest pains - puking - ears hurting - sore throat - diarrhea - food poisoning in April (unrelated) - blood in stool - lack of activity/will to do anything - lack of hungethirst - brain fog - forgetfulness - poor memory - tire easily –literally after walking in a store to grab food and back out - cold chills/sweats - disoriented - disassociating - itchy eyes - watery eyes - insomnia - fatigue - depression - crying outbursts - impulsive thoughts - sleeping most of the day away - only wanting to sleep - scared of the dreams ill encounter once asleep - UTI in April (hopefully unrelated) - extreme aensitivity to the heat {NEW} - lack of wanting to interact with people/going places/doing things
• (most are no longer applicable, might be a few things i forgot)
RECENTLY i also started jolting awake a lot. sometimes i jolt for no reason while trying to sleep and developed a deep fear of heights and ugly impulsive thoughts
My required information:
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Height: 5’5"
Weight: 130 lbs
Allergies: none, possibly oranges as a kid?
Medications: i currently do not take any... but as a kid i took melatonin and adhd meds. do not know what they were called.
Smoke: No, I smoke neither weed nor cigarettes.
Drink: No
Vape: No, but in the past yes for 1 month.
[This may be somewhat irrelevant]
Medical History: Several family members had cancer, mom is (possibly) bipolar, dad is autistic, brother and 5 half siblings are autistic.
I did not take the covid shot, but am up to date on most other shots. Had two veins blow in the hospital. Broken arm in the past, stitches in my one eyebrow, glasses as a kid because the doctor required them but last time I went I was told I didn't need them.
Adoptive father has also told me the stress on my body would kill me by 50.

2024.05.26 04:03 Fliptheflop Is there a chance I have meningitis?

Age 27
Sex M
Height 5’11”
Weight 200 lbs
Duration of complaint 7 days
Last Saturday I got sick and had a fever, full body chills, body aches, headache, lightheadedness. Went to the doctor and tested negative for flu, Covid, and strep. Doctor said it is likely a URI. Had those symptoms until Tuesday night, then started to feel better but would still wake up drenched in sweat as if still breaking the fever until last night. Yesterday, I developed a very stiff neck and light sensitivity/eye strain. I’m able to touch chin to chest but it’s difficult to look side-to-side. Also recorded a temperature of 99.5 degrees at one point. However, no headache (head hurts when exposed to bright lights though). Could this be meningitis? Planning on going into the clinic tomorrow but I’m trying to ease my anxiety.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

ATTENTION: This is the second half of the chapter if you haven't read the first one yet, do it here.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

第 963 + 54i 話 『Pirate Luffy vs. Yonkō Kaidō』

Kaidō's office, Onigashima
Back in Kaidō's mansion, Tashigi tirelessly attacks Who's Who, who easily pushes her back again and again without even looking at her, completely disregarding her as a worthy opponent as he focuses in Basil Hawkins. The Magician's proving to be quite proficient at defending, so Who's Who isn't having it easy considering he has to keep his distance so that Hawkins can't create a doll out of him and also go with non-lethal force in case he's already made the doll. But that's fine. Who's Who's enjoying his hunt very much when Sylvia & Catelyn suddenly stop fighting, confused for a couple of seconds as though they just came out of a trance.
Sylvia & Catelyn to Hawkins at the same time
YOU!! What did you do to us?? You're going to pay for this!!
Both girls rush against Hawkins but...
Who's Who
STOP! He's mine.
pointing his finger at Tashigi without looking at her This pest, though, is a pain in the ass. Take care of her.
Hawkins to himself
(Time's up already? We're running late. How much longer will it take him to get back??)
Who's Who curious
So... Is there a way to know whether you made me a doll? Would I feel something if you did?
Hawkins smirking
There sure is one. Come and find out.
(I need three cards for a「Life Plus」, I can only use one if I want to have a chance. But which one?)
Who's Who
Playful, aren't you? Huhuhuhuhu... Maybe I should take you up on that off...
Mouseman interrupting while munching
Don't fall for that, boss. If he had made a doll of you, he'd have slit his own throat long ago.
Who's Who
Hmm... I see. So your only strategy is to make me a doll? And what if you don't? You're a good defender, but can you actually go for a win any other way?
Hawkins silent
。。。
Who's Who
What? Cat got your tongue? HUHUHU!!

In that moment, a man enters the office rushing, with a profusely running nose and endless stream of tears down his cheeks.
Unidentified man
Captain, look at me! I'm back! I'm back!!
Recognizing the voice without needing to look at the man, Hawkins responds.
Hawkins
Faust! We've been waiting for you, you know? Did you bring him?
Faust taken aback
Oh! Eeh... No. Libra said he'll wait for us at the ship. He prefers to remain neutral in this affair.
Hawkins
Mm... Okay.
(I kind of counted on him to help us with the more physical aspects of the fight. Shit.)
Then, we're done here. Time to wrap this up, boys!
尾田栄一郎
(I still haven't figured out what to do regarding my nightmarish augury from earlier but there's still night ahead... We'll see.)
Who's Who puzzled
Oh, finally, the cat is h...
Wait. You're not the cat.
Why're you not the cat?? I was sure you...
Hawkins turning to Faust
He's not a ca...
FAUST, YOUR FACE!!
Faust interrupting while crying his eyes out
YES, captain!! MY FACE!! My face is back!!!
Who's Who
Well... The cat was the only member of your crew I had some sympathy for. If he's not a cat, then that makes things easier.
Hawkins pointing at Mouseman
Vusama, Tokoloshe, take the rat and shut his mouth already. I don't want him spoiling anything else.
throwing a card towards his men「Eight of Wands...
Who's Who
Hey! Mouseman is not your toy!
Nyki, kill the cat.
Nyki confused
Didn't we all just agree he's not a cat?
Who's Who
Who cares??? Kill him!
Felicia next to Mouseman
Eight of wands... That's for quick decisions, rapid action...
Mouseman
Boss! That card's a boost!
Hawkins whispering
「...in Reverse
Who's Who uses「Soru」to intercept the card as well as to sneak on Tokoloshe and Vusama and slay them with his claws but as soon as the card touches him, his movement becomes very slow. The Occult pirates dodge with ease and proceed to attack Mouseman. Slowly, Who's Who turns his head to Hawkins
Hawkins
Don't talk. You're too slow now and we don't have the time.
Yes, you fell for my trap. You've been slowed down. No more superspeed, no more sneak attacks, no more avoiding me making you a doll.
Hawkins sends his strawman to attack Who's Who, but the sabretooth pirate manages to dodge and run away from it.
Hawkins to himself
(His slowed down superspeed is still quite the speed... Did I blunder this?)
At the other side of the room, Nyaban Kit charges against Faust. The newly-faced pirate waits for his attacker to be close to him with his right arm streched out at his opponent and then...
Faust
Draw」❕❕
From Faust's open hand, a boot comes out and hits Nyki's face. After stopping in confusion, Nyki decides that boot is no threat and leans forward growling with his mouth open trying to intimidate Faust but...
Faust
Draw」❕❕
This time a rapier comes out of Faust's hand, going directly into Nyki's mouth and piercing through his head and thus ending the growl.
Now let's make a quick detour to speak about Faust's ability. He has the power of the「In In no Mi」, a paramecia devil fruit that turned him into a Lottery-man and grants him all sorts of tricks involving randomness. In particular, it allows him to save in the ability's memory a copy of any inanimate object he touches with his right hand and summon it afterwards, only that he can't choose what to summon, the「prize」is determined at random. Summoned prizes exist until they're discarded or something else is summoned.
An important detail Faust learnt at a considerable price is that prizes can't be erased from the ability's memory and saving useless objects or too many will only bloat the pool of prizes and lower the chances of ever summoning something useful. Two years ago, he managed to save a copy of the Mane Mane no Mi's ability during a skirmish with some「Baroque Works」officers. It was the first and only devil fruit ability he ever captured. He didn't even know he could do that! Euphoric, he thought he could wield two devil fruit powers at once, something no one had ever done. He played with his new ability for a while. He turned his head in that of his own cat to try it and then... Out of habit he summoned another prize and the Mane Mane powers were gone. Not only that, his face, permanently changed to that of his cat. Ever since, he tried every single day to summon the Mane Mane ability again to get his face back, but to no avail until tonight.
Now, Nyki drops dead and Who's Who stares at Faust in anger. He starts running towards the random pirate but...
Tashigi
Ranga Chō (Wild scent butterfly」❕❕
With a long combination of very precise and fast slashes, Tashigi defeats Sylvia and Catelyn before tripping over. After getting her glasses back from the floor, Tashigi stands up.
Tashigi
You're next,「Shadow hunter」!!
Who's Who forgets about Faust and lunges enraged against Tashigi.
尾田栄一郎
Who's Who
Gagan (Fang gun)」❕❕
Tashigi sheathes her Shigure, crouches a bit and lunges too against Who's Who while drawing her katana in a horizontal slash.
Tashigi
Ki Hayate (Cutting gale)」❕❕
After the clash, there are no winners. Tashigi, with four big holes in his body falls down unconscious. Unable to dodge as he's used to, Who's Who's got a wide cut in his belly from side to side bleeding profusely. Had he not activated「Tekkai」on instinct soon enough, he'd have been eviscerated. As he touches his wound he sees a card going through his chest.
尾田栄一郎
Hawkins
You lowered your guard again.
You wanted to see if I had any other means of fighting other than making dolls? Game is on.
Four of Pentacles in Reverse
Feel the greed boiling in your soul. Take everything. Every risk. Don't hesitate.
Who's Who with a fierce gaze
I'll skin all of you alive!
Hawkins to himself
(He's talked! He's not slowed down any more! DAMN!)
Knight of Pentacles in Reverse」❕❕
Who's Who moves next to Faust in an instant and is about to tear off his head with one claw but Hawkins' strawman appears inbetween and the feline's claw hits a sort of force field in front of the strawman that blocks the attack.
Hawkins
Faust! Do it!!
Faust
RNG」❕❕
After blocking the first attack, the force field on the strawman disappears and then a white glove pointing with one finger starts to flicker around the office positioning itself next to every person in the room in quick succession.
Who's Who
I'm so tired of this shit!
Gagan」❕❕
Who's Who's maw bites the strawman but it's Mouseman's body the one pierced by his big fangs.
Hawkins shouting
Again!
Faust
RNG」❕❕
Who's Who
No! You had him??
「Rankyaku: Gaichō (Victorious bird)」❕❕
Who's Who shoots a cutting kick with his claw directly at Faust but the blue airblade flies towards Hawkins instead.
尾田栄一郎
The Magician falls to his knees severely wounded.
Faust feeling guilty
Captain!!
Hawkins before passing out
Keep going!!
Who's Who towering before Faust
I don't know what the hell is going on any more. Does that even make sense?? Who cares? He's down. I bet he cannot transfer damage to anyone now.
Shigan Madara (Finger gun Spots)」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Absolutely terrified by the huge and bloodlusty sabretooth tiger-human in front of him, Faust utters a single word.
Faust
[RNG]
As Who's Who's claws make contact with Faust's body, the pointing glove stops over Who's Who's head and with every hit, his claws pierce his own body until he covers himself in holes and ends up looking like a cheese grater before dying without even realizing what hit him.

Rooftop
(🎧 recommended: Luffy vs Ratchet round 2)
After getting back up, Kaidō looks at Luffy with a slight smirk. His broken lip bleeding. Kaidō didn't expect something like that at all.
Kaidō
I'm not gonna lie, that was a good punch, Mugiwara...
So, you want to play a bi...
Luffy interrupting
Niku Niku no Morning star」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Luffy dead serious
I'm not here to play, Kaidō. I'm here to kick your ass.
Kaidō wiping the blood off his cheek
WORORORORORORORO!!!
Wonderful! I'll humour you, Mugiwa...
Luffy
Niku Niku no Ram」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Luffy
This is for Kin'emon!!
Abstracted in his joyous mood, Luffy's kick takes Kaidō by surprise. He's not being hurt much but at least he's feeling pain with every hit, which is a good start. Without wasting a second, Luffy follows up with a barrage of attacks one after the other. Kaidō takes them all head on as though he didn't even know how to defend himself.
Luffy hit after hit
For Kanjūrō!!
For Raizō!!
For Momo!!
For Kin'emon's wife!!
For Tama!!
For O-Ren!!
For the old angel with Usopp's nose!!
。。。
Near them, Chopper tries to take on Jack, but the mammoth is almost just as good at sustaining damage as his captain.
Chopper to himself
(What can I do?? THINK!! This guy is super sturdy. It's like he doesn't even feel me. Is it because of his thick skin or is there something else? I need to find his weak spot or I'll run out of time. Four minutes passed already since I used the「Rumble ball」)
尾田栄一郎
Jack
Who the hell are you? A mink? Weird... You transformed but you didn't turn white.
Chopper uses his slender but strong reindeer legs to jump towards Jack with his brawny human arm ready to deliver a powerful blow.
Chopper
I'm a reindeer!!
(It's time to see if I can apply what I learnt with Nagisa.)
Jack
All that thinking just to make yourself an easy target? Meet my tusk, reindeer.
With a slight move of his head, Jack sends his left tusk at Chopper trying to pierce him. Although unable to change his trajectory in mid-air, Chopper manages to dodge.
Chopper
Kami-e: Lens
As the tusk gets very near to Chopper's skin, his body changes shape as though a force field prevented it from touching the tusk and yet continuing its trajectory.
Jack shocked
WHAT??
Chopper
Tekkai Gong」❕❕
Chopper's arm tenses and becomes tough as iron before giving Jack a very strong punch to the right temple. With his head completely turned the other side and a bit dizzy, the Beast pirate falls to his knees with the front legs. Changing into a thinner reindeer-human body, Chopper nimbly steps on one of Jack's tusks and performs a double backwards somersault to get far from his opponent. Visibly annoyed, Jack is about to get up when Nagisa comes from a blind spot.
Nagisa
Moeru kumade (Blazing rake)」
+1
Combining his strong「Ryūō」with the「Shigan」technique, the young monk tries to pierce Jack's ribcage with his fingers. He fails, but the hit is still strong and painful. Jack tumbles sideways due to the impact and instinctively throws a tremendous kick with his rear leg, that sends Nagisa flying into a distant rock.
Chopper worried
Nagisa!!

Meanwhile, Luffy keeps on striking Kaidō without rest.
Luffy very fatigued
This is pant pant for the minks...
Niku Niku no pant Bombshell」❕
尾田栄一郎
(🎧 recommended: Luffy vs Ratchet round 1)
Kaidō bored
spitting Tch!
This is over, Mugiwara. You're out of steam. You made quite the entrance. You hit me harder than anything I can remember, but your body can't keep up any more. I barely felt those last sad and poor excuses of an attempt.
尾田栄一郎
You know, I strongly believe in second chances.
Tonight you came at me for a second chance at proving yourself. And you did. I would have liked this had been a second chance for me to have a good time, but any way... What you've done is astonishing. The fact you're still standing here alone is and you delivered a lot more. But it's not enough to kill me. Not even enough to kick my ass. And if you insist in trying now, you'll die. I mean, you're probably going to die regardless because you should be well past your limit by now, but you get what I mean, right?
Accept your fate. You will not win this battle. Surrender and try to live. You're strong enough to be my right hand. You're a pirate, aren't you? Sail under my flag and we will conquer all the seas in this world!
Luffy uses Kaidō's speech to catch his breath again. He stands with his guard and his head held high but behind that appearance, he's struggling to keep himself on his feet. His vision is blurred to the point he's depending on instinct and observation haki completely, his whole body aches as though it was being crushed by a mountain, his heart beats so fast that it's about to explode. He, better than Kaidō, knows the state he's in.
Luffy
I will conquer pant the seas. But not with pant you. I'll do it with my crew, because I pant am the man who's going to be pant the「Pirate King」❕❕❕
I'm not done yet, Kaidō!! Take this!!
Kaidō
I'll end this just like first time. I'll appreciate it if you survive, Mugiwara.
Raimei Hakke」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Worried about his captain, Chopper can't help but hesitate when he sees Luffy receive such a blow. A couple of seconds distracted from his own fight that allow Jack to hit him too. Unable to breathe for a moment, his「Guard point」activates on instinct before hitting the floor. As though he weren't in the middle of a fight of his own at all, Chopper's gaze lingers on Luffy.
Chopper to himself
(Luffy is in serious danger. He could die at any moment just from his previous state alone. I need to help him right now! But this guy is a monster. Nagisa and me have landed countless hits on him already and he's still fresh like a rose. Moreover, he's only used his full animal form? Why? His movements are so limited in that body... I need to step up my game.)
Jack
You're making it too easy now, reindeer! I hope you know how to swim.
Charging towards Chopper, Jack prepares to send him flying with his trunk, when...
Nagisa
Sechigarai Kazaha (Hard windblade)」❕❕
As the monk runs, he imbues his legs in「Ryūō」and makes a small leap while tilting his body making it spin horizontally. He locks his legs split open with「Tekkai」and builds a vortex of wind that's then released through「Rankyaku」as a turbulent and sharp buzz saw's blade. Jack pays it no mind and soon regrets it when it cuts his fur, skin and flesh half way to completely severing his trunk off his face.
Jack stifles a cry of pain but he's stopped in his tracks. Very close to him, now Chopper looks at the bleeding mammoth as he swallows something.
Chopper desperate
Monster point」❕❕
skxviii
Frozen by surprise, Jack finds himself before a true monster of his same size bellowing inches away from his face. Immediately after, Chopper unleashes onto him a savage beating like none anyone in the Beast pirates has ever seen. For the first time in his life, Jack is completely overpowered in a fight. And to top it off...
Nagisa
Tetsu Reiki (Iron aura)」
Alex Flores
Condensing his「Ryūō」to the limit through「Tekkai」, Nagisa gives physical form to his「haki」in the shape of light armor, then proceeds to assist Chopper. Between the two, they pummel every inch of Jack's body. Grabbing the huge mammoth by a rear leg, Chopper crashes him to the ground repeatedly from side to side. However, thanks to his incredible sturdiness, after one of the hits, Jack manages to quickly roll on his side to break free from Chopper's hold. He gets up and charges against the monsterized reindeer.
尾田栄一郎
Jack to himself
(Where did this monster come from?? If I don't take him out right now, it's going to be very hard to handle. His degree of savagery is insane and doesn't let me take care of the monk, and he's dangerous too!)
Chopper accepts the challenge. He gets on all fours and meets Jack's tusks with his antlers. He's initially pushed back by the mammoth's momentum but soon both get to a violent stalemate.
Chopper
(How can he have so much strength left in him after all the damage he's sustained?? I need to break free from this lock and do something. He has the advantage now because I can't see him in this position. Also, the effect of the「Rumble balls」is going to wear off any moment now!)
Chopper transforms into his small-sized「Brain point」as he rolls towards jack between his legs and lies below him.
Chopper to himself
(Scope)
With the resistance suddenly gone, the mammoth advances a few steps before his tusks pierce the ground and get stuck.
Jack
Dammit!
(Where did he go?? I can't see him!)
As he tries to unpin his tusks from the roof, Nagisa, walking in the air above him, takes aim.
Nagisa
I'll help with that.
Tetchū-hō (Iron pillar cannon)」❕❕
Using「Soru」to fall over Jack like a meteor, Nagisa uses「Shigan」with all his leg to stomp on Jack's right tusk, crushing it as well as the skull's roof and throwing a perfectly cylindrical column of bone down at the Grand Hall.
Under the mammoth's belly, Chopper notices something.
Chopper
YES!! This is why he's only fighting in this form! He's gots a large scar through his chest that's still healing. He didn't want to expose his weak spot and this form gives it the best protection.
I'm coming, Luffy.
Tsunogan (Antler pistol)」❕❕❕
Chopper transforms back into「Monster point」at the same time he thrusts his antlers towards Jack's chest impaling him through his previous wound, driving his sharp antlers into Jack's chest and lifting him as Chopper stands and roars. But his instinct has Chopper quickly leave his unconscious opponent on the floor, fall back and adopt a defensive stance.
尾田栄一郎
Kaidō very angry
THAT'S ENOUGH!!
Bolo Breath」❕❕
The scorching wind sends Chopper flying out of the skull.
Luffy shouting at Nagisa
You! pant Chopper will drown if pant if he falls in the water. pant Help him!!
Nagisa immediately goes after Chopper.
Kaidō
Not so fast!
Raimei Hakke」❕❕
Changing back to his hybrid form, Kaidō is about to hit Nagisa but...
Luffy
Niku Niku no Kanketsusen (Meat-Meat geyser)」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Luffy
Your fight pant is with me, Kaidō!
(🎧 recommended: Torn apart)
Kaidō watches as Nagisa safely escapes out of sight and then whips Luffy with his tail, having him trundle through the ground, hitting every rock in the way. Full of wrath, Kaidō goes after Luffy.
Kaidō yelling
You're going to regret what you just did, Mugiwara!!
Luffy struggling to get up
You won't harm any pant of my friends again, pant Kaidō!!
Niku Niku no Kabuto (Meat-Meat helm)」❕❕
尾田栄一郎
Luffy puts in this fight everything he's got left. But it's not enough, because he's up against the strongest creature in the world. And he made this creature furious.
Kaidō sends Luffy down once more. This time, the Mugiwara can't help but roll on the ground crying in pain as he's skull has cracked open on the inside. Having just come out of a coma and without his devil fruit powers, regardless of how optimistic he wanted to be, Luffy was already at a huge disadvantage no matter his opponent.
尾田栄一郎
Luffy to himself
(This hurts! This hurts like hell!!
So... this is what it's like not being made of rubber. This is what Usopp has to face every time. This is what he knows will happen to him if anything goes slightly wrong at any turn.
I had no idea... And yet he's never let us down, not once. Maybe I owe him an a...)
Kaidō
It's a pity, Mugiwara. We both wasted our second chances. Your body is done for and I'm not in the mood to babysit you any more.
Now, die.
Ragnarok」❕❕
Kaidō jumps on Luffy, striking down with his club imbued in his powerful「haki」.
Luffy to himself
(It doesn't move! My body doesn't move!! Dammit, move! MOVE!!)
Kaidō's club crushes Luffy and shatters all the ground nearby. Their fight is finished.
尾田栄一郎

2024.05.26 03:59 Mokunuinuimoku Doctor thinks crohns, any advice

So i am currently going on 18 months with tons of different tests having been ran. I had covid followed by food poisoning followed by c diff within a 2 month time span. Did my antibiotics, cleaned up diet etc. my symptoms are bloatimg after food, unusually darker yellow urine only after eating(especially fat), and extremely dry/dehydrated skin. Like i can put on aquaphor after a shower and within 2 hours its dried up. And its systemic. My calf is really bad dry and dehydrated and looks almost pale when i wake up.
I have had almost every possible blood test done. All the sjogrens panels(SSa,SSb,ANA), total hormonal panel workup, Metabolic Panel, Cholesterol panels, ESR, C3/C4, CRP, vit AEDK(all toward bottom of range), light chain tests, lipase tests, kidney(gfr is constantly between 75 and 95), liver super clear, a stool test found no bad bacteria in stool but no gi map done. and tons more. The only real out of place things have been random like a slightly high phosphorus test(less than 5% over range) and a high b6 blood test with supplementation but stopped. Weird cause every other b vitamin is near bottom.
I did a endoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsies that were also clear. My doctor next wants to do a pill cam to check for ileal damage so i am waiting on that. But basically at a loss. I eat good nothing unhealthy. No fast food and all home cooked meals. I was smoking a lot of blunts and have since quit and moved to joints but might try and stop that too to test.
Just looking if anyone out there has ever gone through something similar or anything that could be of help? Really just want my skin fixed and oily and moist again like before. I look like ive aged 20 years in 2.

Chapter Nine:
(Frankie)
As I drove Dad’s old green pickup truck down Congress Street toward the doctor’s office, my mind ran through the last week. Dawn had been in the newsroom every day, writing astrology columns, working with our page layout staff to design horoscopes, and pestering me to take proper meal breaks.
The witch was quickly becoming a regular presence in my life, and I didn’t intend for that to happen when I hired her.
I didn’t intend for a lot of things to happen, I thought, picturing how she looked in the parking lot on Mackworth Island, the evening breeze blowing her curly hair around her face like a blanket of surprises. That’s what spending time with Dawn felt like. . . constant surprises. I was surprised at how much better I ate when she was around, surprised at how much more raucous the staff seemed in the newsroom when she was around, and surprised at how much happier I was when she was around.
“Earth to FeeDee! Did you hear me?”
Dad’s voice brought me back to the present as he poked my shoulder. And the man had a poke that would break Facebook (haha, remember when that was a thing?).
“Sorry, yeah. What? You were saying something about. . . baseball?” I guessed, flinching as my fingers tightened around the steering wheel. Dad rock played quietly from the stereo I thought I’d muted a few minutes ago. Styx, I think?
Franky, Jr. chuckled.
“I could tell you were lost in a thoughtstorm—”
“Brainstorm,” I corrected him.
“Brainstorm,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Anyway, no. Good guess. But I wasn’t asking you about baseball. I got a text from your mother. She asked us to pick up some ground turkey on the way home after the appointment.”
Sighing, I nodded.
“Right. Sure. Ground turkey it is.”
My father put his arms behind the chair and stretched while grumbling. His Boston Blue Sox sweater wrinkled so I couldn’t see Wallie the Blue Monster’s face. The mascot was usually plastered front and center on Dad’s baseball shirts and sweaters. He loved that weird blue mascot with the orange hair.
“I can’t believe your mother has us grabbing turkey again. I can taste the difference, you know? Between that and beef? It’s not nearly as sweet or crumbly,” Dad said. “And the whole wheat pasta! What a sin. I have to confess to Father Carlos every meal I eat now.”
I giggled and rolled my eyes. We drove past the divided highway-ish road that was Franklin Street. It cut Portland’s peninsula in two, separating the Old Port from the houses and parks of Munjoy Hill.
“Quit your bellyaching, Dad. You still get to eat pasta. And the leaner meat and added fiber are better for your heart. For fuck’s sake. It’s been a year since your trip to the ER, and you’re still griping about the food. Give it a rest, old man,” I said.
Calling him “old man” usually shut him up as he spent most of his energy over the next two minutes just pouting and glaring at me while mumbling curses in Italian.
I suppose I should be grateful that he didn’t complain about having to go to the gym regularly or how his bruschetta tasted different now. A worried daughter had to pick her battles. And at 30, I had more battles than I expected in life, trying not to think about the paper for once.
Come on now, brain. I thought. You need to be fully present for Dad’s one-year checkup.
“Okay,” my brain said. “I won’t think about the paper. How about scenes from the day Dad collapsed?”
Well, shit. Fuck you too, brain, I thought.
Visions of the grizzled old newspaper editor clutching his chest and falling on his side swam behind my eyes. The sound of his panicked breathing and my cries as I yelled for Richard to call 911.
The silent and frantic promises I made God if he’d just save my father from whatever was trying to take him from me.
And who could forget the eternity I felt between Richard’s short phone call and the paramedics rushing in with a stretcher, the questions they were asking me, and whatever gibberish I spit out in response?
Leaping into the back of that ambulance and holding my dad’s hand tight while his eyes fluttered, and he grimaced. Tortuous hours standing outside an operating room offering God more frantic promises, some of which were still unfulfilled to this day.
“FeeDee?” his voice called me back to the present again. “Did you hear me?”
I nodded, wiping a small tear away from my left eye before he could see it. That time I’d caught the tail end of his words.
“Probably about half an hour, not counting however long we’ll have to wait in Dr. Mendoza’s office.”
The newspaper publisher shook his head and rubbed his clean-shaven face.
“Uffa,” he muttered. “Doctors. You schedule the appointment, arrive on time, and they STILL make you wait half an hour.”
My hand left the gear shift long enough to take his palm in my grasp.
“Hey, it’ll be fine. We’ve got plenty of time,” I said, my brain realizing the multiple meanings of that sentence as I tried not to cry again.
We drove past Remys department store, and I watched a cyclist nearly collide with a sports car as he tried to ignore the red light and zip through like the traffic laws didn’t apply to him.
You would have been splatted like a bug, I thought as we continued past the art college and on toward the cardiologist’s office.
“What do you think she’ll say?” Dad asked, suddenly.
I shrugged.
“Probably not much. I imagine she’ll tell you to cut back on dairy. Ask you how many hours you spend in the gym each week. That kind of stuff.”
Franky, Jr. grunted and crossed his arms.
“And if you aren’t honest with the doctor, I’ll rat you out and tell her you’re still in the newspaper office five days a week!” I said, sounding more like my mother than I intended.
The man visibly flinched and immediately softened his tone.
“Oh, come on, FeeDee. I’m only in the office for a few hours. It’s practically part-time work being the publisher.”
While we stopped at a red light outside of Channel 7’s downtown TV station, I squinted at my father.
“You still need to watch how much you’re working. I mean it. You’re not allowed to overdo it in the office. That means going home when you’re tired or not coming in at all if you’re sick. Don’t push yourself too hard, or I’ll push Dr. Mendoza to write you a note banning you from the office for six months.”
Dad’s face paled as he threw up his hands.
“Alright already. I’ll shave a few more hours off each week. Geez. Who raised you to be such a newsroom general?”
Smiling and feeling my heart warm just before the light turned green, I turned to the grizzled newspaper veteran with a small smile and softly said, “You did, Dad.”
A few minutes later, we were seated and checked into the Maine Cardiology Clinic. Dad had to fill out his insurance forms again because he was on Medicare now. He grumbled about that, too, clicking his pen a few times in frustration.
The room was chilly and filled with several chairs that lacked cushions. A basic white tile floor squeaked depending on where you stepped. But what absorbed my attention was a large 125-gallon fish tank filled with an assortment of tropical plants and fish. I watched clownfish, cardinalfish, and royal gramma swim around their tank with the ease of a Windows 98 screensaver.
All the while, my father continued to grunt and rub his temples trying to recall information for the medical forms. At one point, he even texted Mom.
We were the only people in the waiting area aside from a grandpa and his grandson doing one of those I Spy books together.
You’re missing the fish, bub! I thought, not understanding how a kid would prefer to be looking for a magnifying glass or an orange shoe on a table of clutter.
“Eh, whatever,” I muttered, watching one of the clownfish dart to a toy pirate ship at the bottom of the tank.
When Dad came back from the receptionist, and I heard the sliding glass door clatter shut, I looked up and flashed him a smile. He did that boomer guy groan and sighed as he sat down in the chair next to me. I rolled my eyes.
He leaned forward and clasped his hands together.
“So. . . you see the April report I sent you this morning?”
My heart sank as I recalled the glum spreadsheet he’d sent me. The Lighthouse-Journal numbers weren’t great.
“Print ad revenue down 17 percent. Subscriber counts down nine percent. Digital ad revenue is up two percent, but it’s a bucket compared to an ocean,” he said.
He was right, of course. Digital ad sales weren’t ever going to make up for what commercial print revenue was 30-40 years ago, the very things that allowed newspapers to staff a wide variety of beats from recipe editors to Washington correspondents to film and theatre critics. You’d have reporters at every fucking civic meeting from planning committees to school boards to library oversight groups, and more.
Now, we were lucky to have a reporter at every Portland City Council meeting. And depending on the agenda, we might not.
“What do you think, sweetie? Should we reconsider the offer from Aidan Global Capital? Because at this rate, we’ll be lucky if the paper makes it another three years.”
Dad’s tone wasn’t defeatist. He hated the idea of a New York equity firm buying what our family built as much as I did. Well. . . almost.
I clutched my fists in my lap.
With my shoulders hunched, I ran through the numbers again. The same figures I’d burned into my skull every night before bed. If our revenue decline continued, we’d have to make more cuts. In six months, we’d stop being a daily paper and cut the Monday edition. In 12 months, we’d cut Monday and Tuesday editions of the paper. In 18 months, I would have to downsize our staff again and maybe look at outsourcing things like page layout to a cheaper graphic design firm elsewhere in the country. I’d gotten quotes from places in Kentucky and Oklahoma where other newspapers had already made this difficult choice.
It was a nosedive that, if not improved soon, would see our paper decline in quality to the point that we’d have to take it out back and Old Yeller the bitch. That was preferable to Aiden Global Capital running the place. I’d seen the newspapers they’d bought out and stripped to skeleton crews, starved the page counts, and diluted their articles with AP wire content.
For those motherfuckers, it’s always about bleeding as much profit from the news rag as possible, I thought. And when they just can’t bleed anymore, they shutter the publication.
That’s how you got news deserts where communities didn’t have people to tell them who would be on the ballot or what the city council decided at their meeting on Tuesday.
“I think. . . we need to have faith,” I said, trying to pull out of my mental tailspin.
“In God saving our paper?”
Shrugging, I smiled.
“Perhaps. And maybe he’ll do it through this plucky new astrology editor we just hired. You saw her demographics. She doesn’t just have a wide national audience, but a lot of listeners here in Portland as well. When they get wind of the new content she’s producing for our paper, I have faith enough will subscribe to reverse our recent trends,” I said.
Dad nodded and then rubbed his chin.
“I guess we’ll see. I hope for all of our sakes the new girl can pull it off,” he said. Then his grin grew cheesy. “And, hey, if she doesn’t work out as a newspaper editor, maybe she’ll work out as a girlfriend.”
Coughing on my saliva like only a true cringe master was capable of, I leaned forward and gasped for air, sputtering in the most embarrassing display.
When I could speak again and stop feeling the phantom sensations of Dawn’s fingers squeezing the back of my neck while we made out, I turned to Franky, Jr. whose face was red with booming laughter.
The grandfather and grandson stared at us with befuddled faces as I scowled.
“That’s not even remotely funny,” I hissed.
“You’re right, FeeDee. It’s not funny. . . it’s hilarious,” he said before slapping his knee and throwing his head back in laughter again.
I crossed my arms.
“She’s just a coworker,” I muttered, feeling the memory of what I’d said to Dawn on the island rushing into my head with a shrieking voice calling, “LIAR!”
Dad nodded.
“A coworker you spent hours with on Macworth Island last week?”
“That’s exactly it!” I snapped.
“Name one other coworker from the newsroom you would go hiking with,” he said, cocking his head to the side.
I scrolled through the list of names on our payroll.
“Ghost,” I said, confidently.
“Ghost wouldn’t hike if every computer and cell phone on the planet spontaneously combusted. You wanna try again or just save me the time and admit —” My father was interrupted by a nurse walking into the waiting room and calling his name.
Saved by the medical staff, I thought.
I watched as my father was weighed, had blood work taken, heartrate monitored and listened to by three different devices, and finally a conversation with Dr. Mendoza, who looked over his numbers on her computer screen.
She sat on a red stool, legs crossed, long black hair pulled back into a ponytail. The doctor was around my age and looked like she’d just finished her certifications. But her brown eyes were full of confidence. The white coat covering her russet brown skin wrinkled a bit when she leaned forward to speak with my father.
“Well, Mr. Ricci, the numbers on my screen show a recovery that’s roughly in line with someone who was on an operating room table a year ago. Ms. Ricci tells me you’ve been exercising more and adjusting your diet as needed. So that’s promising. But why don’t you tell me how you’re feeling?”
Dad wasn’t one to complain. But his doctor was giving him an opportunity to ask questions and really listen to him, so the inky wretch sighed and asked, “How long will it take for me to feel. . . not so tired again?”
Dr. Mendoza cocked her head to the side.
“Are you dealing with a lot of fatigue?”
He shrugged.
“Things just. . . seem to take a lot more out of me than they did before. And I’m not used to that. It’s a little frustrating, to be honest. I figured six, eight, even 12 months later that feeling would fade, but it hasn’t.”
Looking back at the screen again before answering, Dr. Mendoza nodded.
“Well, Mr. Ricci, I think you’re a patient with heart trouble recovering in your mid-60s. And while you’ve made adjustments to physical activity and diet, you might just have to accept the fact that age and the heart attack have slowed your pace a little bit. It’s not uncommon for men in your demographic to feel this way even years after surgery.”
My father didn’t interrupt her.
“But I view this as a chance to reshift your priorities in life. You’re still putting. . . what? 12-15 hours a week in at the newspaper? In addition to hitting the gym three or four days a week? That’s a decent load for a lot of people. If you’re finding yourself increasingly fatigued, maybe lighten your workload and replace it with a new hobby, something not as stressful. And if you still find yourself wanting more energy, I’m happy to refer you to a nutritionist who can help you figure out if different vitamins or further changes to your meals might help.”
With a chuckle, my father leaned back on the patient bed.
“So, what you’re telling me is. . . I’m getting old?”
Dr. Mendoza leaned a little closer and without even a hint of bashfulness in her voice said, “Franky, you’ve been old for years now. It ain’t something new.”
The room went silent. And then, in unison, my father and I slapped our knees and laughed until I’m sure the nurses outside were staring at our exam room door in confusion.
When we quieted down, Dr. Mendoza turned off her computer monitor and said, “But you know what? My father would say he’s earned those years and that growing old is a privilege. Not everyone is granted that gift, to walk so far along the path.”
“Amen,” my father said.
“Do you have any more questions?”
He shook his head.
“Then I’ll look forward to seeing you in six months, Mr. Ricci. Think about what I said. You’ve worked hard all your life. And from looking at Ms. Ricci, I can tell you taught her the same thing. How’s your health?”
I shook my head, caught off guard by the shift in her attention.
After realizing I hadn’t said words, I finally spoke up, “All quiet on that front.”
She raised an eyebrow and hid a smile.
“Heart conditions are sometimes passed down from parents to their kids. With your grandfather having died from a heart attack and your father nearly suffering the same fate, I’d just keep an eye on yourself, yeah? Since your father is a patient here, you can always schedule an appointment for an exam, and we’d get you booked for just a couple of weeks out.”
I showed her my palms and stood to grab my purse.
“I appreciate the offer. And I’ll keep an eye on my ticker, bub. But for now, I’ve got nothing to report, Dr. Mendoza.”
She nodded.
“I’ll leave you both, then. You can schedule your next appointment at the front desk. Take care, Mr. Ricci. And you too,” she said, winking at me. I fought a scowl.
Back in the pickup truck, I sighed.
“Something wrong, FeeDee?”
I started the vehicle, and the air kicked on with its usual old stale smell.
“I. . . want you to consider what the doctor said about cutting even more hours at the paper,” I said.
Dad crossed his arms.
“Oh, I’m just a little tired here and there. It’s not a big deal —” he said before I interrupted him.
“Please! I just. . . think about what happened to Grandpa. And what almost happened to you. It was really close, Dad.”
I was fighting back tears while my father was fighting back an argument.
“If you won’t listen to your cardiologist, you should listen to me. I’m your daughter, and I need you to take care of yourself for me because. . . I still need you. I always will.”
Watching his face turn downward, I sighed again. For a minute, the truck engine was all we heard. The vehicle was old but still had a few miles left in it. And we needed every single one it could spare.
“Okay, FeeDee. Okay. I’ll take Mondays off. Maybe I’ll go fishing again. Is that better?”
Nodding, I took his hand in mine.
“Thank you.”
Another beat of silence.
“So. . . turkey?” he asked.
“Turkey,” I said, and off we went to the market.
