2024.01.16 12:19 MarleyCanSwim What is the most original culture in Malaysia?
I mean I don't know, I always wonder what is a tradition, or food or culture in general that is 'Malaysia-exclusive' where you won't find anywhere else, just 100% from Malaya since classical times. Some instances, when I search for things I found in Malaysia there must be historical traces from Indonesia or Thailand. Like for example, kek lapis Sarawak is from Jakarta, Wayang kulit, gamelan and keris from Java, Rendang of course Indonesia, Sate from Indon, even nasi berlauk which Malaysian eat everyday is originated from Indonesia.
I apologise if this is a well-known fact but throughout my life I've been taught that these are traditional Malaysian culture. I understand we and other SEA countries used to be one big empire so logically most of us share the same culture. but I just wanna learn if Malaysia have you know, "exclusive items". so far from my research baju kurung, kain pelikat, sambal belacan nasi dagang, wau, and of course nasi lemak is pure Malay. any more than that?

2023.12.10 13:23 Nice-Safety430 Bruneian in need of advice.
Hello and good evening everyone. Bruneian here and will be arriving to Kuching next week I haven't make any Google searches yet hence why I'm here. I'd love to get some hidden gems from y'all.
Anyway, I need your help on:
1) Interesting places (my brother did mention bridge with boat cruise and tamu around there, not sure where exactly sorry and then museum also)
2) shopping mall? We'll be staying near Viva megamall. Just eyeing for other options.
3) dimana boleh beli kek lapis Sarawak? (I heard from my colleague that they can see how it's done? I assume this is a factory?)
4) recommended food? (Not a priority as my children are picky eaters)
5) things to watch out for?
This is my first time going to Kuching. Hope you can help a brother out. TIA!

2023.11.20 15:30 kidmoder Best Asian store for Indonesian ingredients/snacks?
I heard the stock of HMart and 99 Ranch Market vary by location, so if anyone knows where I can find:
- Birds eye chili or sambal made from it
- ABC kecap manis
- Terasi / shrimp paste
- Galangal
- Lemongrass
- Kaffir lime leaves
- Banana leaves
- Pandan leaves or extract
- Bumbu packets, especially bumbu sate (peanut sauce)
- Saba banana or another small variety
- Unfried krupuk (shrimp crackers)
- Indomie by the box
- Taro net, kek lapis, Kopiko, other snacks
Please let me know! The best place I've found is Ibu Campbell's Indonesian grocery store in Maryland but it's a bit of a drive. She has just about everything I listed, and also sells homemade Indonesian meals on weekends (best rendang in the DMV area for sure). But is there anywhere closer?

2023.10.28 15:09 Suspicious-Term-9251 This video
This video has f** me up, I consider myself living in a very safe environment and very out of danger mindset, due to me encountering a kek**ma net yeah.. don't search it up, I mean I have watched and analyzed go#Q videos, since I've felt kind of wanting for that to happen to me, I mean just so much pain that it changes you, I really don't know why, I mean I do hate myself for not using my intelligent mind, as my father had said, *U were so smart when u were a child and my mother U could do 3 digits division when u were in kindergarden, and know u can't even understand this lesson I know I hated myself, but actively treat myself with delicious deserts, after a hard time like school, physical activies ( I was born with a very weak body),Although I think i'm now just rambling or giving you information, to idk help me?, But let me get to my point, I've understood g** videos are disqusting, and painfull to the resipient, but I've only really analyzed. Where the hit was, could they still recover?, How much would it have hurt, But I've never really got into the nitty gritty of people's lives, since I've though they were all horrable people getting what they deserve, and there videos being put into the internet for all to see. But considering what i've heard on this video, it opened me up to people's live and made me so sick, laughing, analyzing, not carring for their screams (most of the time).
What is wrong with me? I can't talk to anyone about this, And i'd rather not see a therapist since my parents would the one paying, and they'd know considering i have a daily chores. Yes I am young if that helps u, in helping me, please, I'm sick with myself. The video was The Bottom of The Disturbing Reddit Posts Iceberg

2023.07.07 22:07 Comprehensive-Two-83 My cake suddenly won't cook no matter how long I bake it (Kek Lapis).
For context, I am making Kek Lapis, a local popular Sarawak (Malaysia) cake made by placing the batter by thin layer into the oven and taking it out and placing another layer until all is complete. I have been making and selling these since I was 12 years old (now 27). Not to be confuse with Indonesian Kek Lapis or Brunei Kek Lapis.
As per title, I have this one particular cake which suddenly stop cooking no matter how long I bake it.The cake remain mushy even though the "crust" has formed on top (do note this is a thin layer of batter which is so weird). I made it every year and not a single ingredient is changed (not even the brand or volume). No changes in production method or duration as well. Everything is kept the same.
I tried again failure after failure trying to recreate it (while making other recipes too) but it just won't work. I have 6 failed cake now while the other recipes turned out perfect. Usually a layer takes about 12 minutes. I have tried lowering the temp and baking each layer for 20 mins but still the exact same outcome. Other cakes recipe turns out perfectly. I am stumped.
One solution I did do though is immediately steaming the cake for 6 hours after finish layering all the batter. It turns out well but the cake lost its shine upon cutting. And I sold it for 1/3 of price even though it still taste so good.
Ingredients
- Egg
- Sugar
- Butter
- All purpose flour
- Marie biscuit powder
- Horlick (original)
- Seri kaya (coconut jam)
- Vanilla essence
- Pandan paste
- Chocolate chips
Any ideas from baker out here is appreciated. I have never received any official baking lesson so any idea is helpful.

2023.05.26 14:16 chaaaqi i have a sarawak food related question
so my cousin recently married a sarawakian and her mother sent over handmade cakoi that’s meant to be kept in the freezer. we made it and it was salty instead of the plain-heading-towards-sweet cakoi that we were used to. is cakoi different over there???
personally i dig it, it just tastes like a more salty donut. but my family was not a big fan lol. anyways, guess i’ll be finishing it off then ngehehehe
also i’ve never really been exposed to east msia food other than the common mee kolok, kek lapis, etc. i wish to travel there one day to explore for myself !! but rn my knowledge is abit limited 😞

2023.04.11 15:00 metaphorical_robin TEMPLATE FOR NEXT EVENT'S POST [WIP]
Still in draft stage
IGNORE TITLE this post has been edited to fit current event.
I would suggest waiting till nearer the end before buying dragons from the event market, since you might get dragons from Eggs of Mystery or breeding. The only time I personally would consider buying dragons is if they have terrible odds and are required for a dragon I currently want to breed. Buying a dragon will always give the most basic form of that dragon (so it will not be a twin and will only be traited if it's a Rift-exclusive).
🌸💛🌸 Runic Breeding Caves are available! If you're new to the mechanic or need a reminder on how they work, check out this post! 🌸💛🌸 If you use the settings on the Prismatic Pantheon to help find hidden items but don't want the RBCs to be greyed out as well, also select
Misc. + Basic to highlight the RBCs.
Things covered in this post: - Limited/permanent status (how long it will likely be before the dragon shows up in an event again)
- Breeding and Co-Op cloning odds (how likely you are to breed the dragon with its combo or by using it as a parent in Co-Op)
- Suggestions for combos that use epic elements without specifying a particular dragon (effectively, what out of the possible combos contributes the least elements and therefore gives the best odds)
- How many combos a dragon is required for
- A list of EC prices from most to least expensive for comparison
- A list of DC earning from best to worst non-boosted DC/min for comparison, with a brief overview of the top earners
- Some suggestions for what to aim to get if you can't decide
- A note on the end of event gift
- Suggestions of non-dragon items you might consider
If you want me to include other information in future posts, please let me know :) Limited/permanent status — limited dragons are better to get/breed for - Dapplethorn, Yolkwing (a Rift-exclusive), Misfortune (breeding this outside of parent cloning requires the in-game time of day to be night) and Triple Rainbow are permanent dragons. Aside from Misfortune whose extra requirement means it might not be possible to breed it for a whole event (if the event's time of day is permanently set to day and you don't have the Twilight Tower), I wouldn't suggest buying or aiming to breed permanent dragons unless you desperately want them or need them for breeding, since you'll get them from breeding at some point, even if it takes a while.
- The numbered Monoliths and Chrysalis dragons are also permanent but you need to have some of them to breed them. You could theoretically use Co-Op for Chrysalis dragons but it would be easier to start with some yourself - and you'll need at least one Monolith (since due to a bug they can't be cloned) so you may as well get two. See the "suggestions for variable combos" section for Monolith info and this post for Chrysalis suggestions. (My suggestion for the four Chrysalis dragons you get is Starwing, Swallowtail, Marbletail and Duskwing. Starwing rather than Glowwing because that immediately gets you one step closer to being able to get a traited Starwing for Pearlescent, and the other three because Chrysalis isn't required for anything in the middle ring so isn't as useful and Marbletail has the lowest odds so it's better to buy it directly.)
- As for limited dragons, Sumi, Rosebud (Valentine's), Berry, Pouke (Om of Noms), Plateau, Tulip, Cumulus, Tansy, Pond and Cumberpatch (Camp DragonVale) are the most likely to show up in events before the Easter event next year.
- All other dragons might not show up for a whole year (outside of possibly showing up in Dragons' Weeks, but they won't be available to buy for event currency in those weeks) so are the best to go for in this respect.
Breeding chances — breeding-wise, expensive, higher combo odds, lower Co-Op odds is better; buying-wise, cheaper and lower combo and Co-Op odds is better (or more expensive and low combo/Co-Op odds for the gift) - The percentage in brackets in the specific combo column is the chance to get it by using the dragon you're trying for in Co-Op if using it meets its requirements. E.g. when Flowerhop is available, Flowerhop + plant in Co-Op is 13%, whereas just using elements without using Begonia specifically is 3%.
- If there is a 'variable' note then that dragon requires epic elements. This event, this is the case for the numbered Monoliths, Misfortune, Redbeard and Cumberpatch. Since all epic dragons contribute primary elements when breeding, depending on which dragons you have to breed with, the chance will be different depending on how many primary elements are added into the mix. The chance I've given is what I'm fairly sure is the highest possible chance, i.e. with the fewest number of hidden elements in the mix. The Co-Op chances - the ones in brackets - are not variable, since you are using the dragon you are aiming for no matter what.
- Note that the only breeding requirements which remain when parent cloning are the rule for evolution dragons - you must be using two of the dragon you want to clone rather than just one, i.e. double parent cloning - and the cave in which the dragon can be bred. E.g. You will not be able to parent clone Yolkwing in the Co-Op cave since it is a Rift-exclusive so can only be bred in the Rift cave, and cannot parent clone Karroot unless both dragons you're using are Karroot, but you can parent clone Misfortune in any cave even if the time of day is not Night, since its time requirement is ignored.
- I’ve used the DV Compendium for chances, because the DV Sandbox is based on approximates and the chances are often different from the Compendium's.
- Use POST LINK - reddit event to see combos. The comment on that post also has the combos for the new releases in the __ category - though as the comment says, you can only get those dragons from parent cloning at the moment due to them being the new releases that will remain in the market throughout the event - the later limited dragons will be breedable with their specific combos.
\*If the name is bold, that dragon is permanent*\**
The dragons in each of the four categories (two specific parents, one specific, only elements inc. epic, only elements no epic) are listed from worst-to-best combo odds. If it is the case that two dragons in the same category have the same combo odds, they're listed by Co-Op odds, unless those are also the same. ***DOUBLE CHECK ODDS*** Name(s) | Specific combo chance (when available) | Single parent Co-Op clone chance (when not available) |

^(\*Note that you may well get the element-only dragons - especially if their odds are good and no epic element is required - from breeding without trying specifically for them. You may want to breed for other dragons you want where the combos contribute the required elements.**)*
Suggestions for "variable" combos: - The numbered Monoliths can all be a result of breeding any two monolith-element dragons together. Hedera, Pixie and Monolith 1 have the same hidden elements and Glyph and Monolith 5 have the same hidden elements. Monoliths 5 and 6 have really low breeding odds, so buying Glyph, Monolith 5 (and possibly 6 as well) then breeding them together is the best idea. (I'd also suggest buying or evolving for Hedera and Pixie this event as well since you can't get them easily outside of events without wishes.)
- Misfortune (treasure + apocalypse elements) - it's best to try and clone it in Co-Op with the time of day set to a night theme. If you don't want to do that then Ouroboros + Platinum/Electrum is the easiest-to-obtain combo with the least hidden elements (water, metal and lightning are all contributed by Ouroboros and Platinum/Electrum have two of those elements and no more). Remember that if you want combo odds for this dragon, the in-game time of day needs to be night.
- Redbeard (requires Celtic and the hidden element) - again, it's best to use Redbeard + Celtic in Co-Op, or just Redbeard + anything if you don't have Celtic. If you don't have access to Redbeard in Co-Op use Celtic + Atramento/Coldcoil/Frons (only one added element), or from this event Crackle, Cumberpatch, Minchi, out or Stoneshell only contribute two extra elements (Minchi would be the best choice since it can't be cloned). From other events, Scout, Umbra, Ignis, Apex and Igluit only contribute two elements more than what Celtic already contributes.
- Cumberpatch (Cactus + monolith element) - Unfortunately since Cumberpatch is hidden element, you can't get combo and cloning odds with this dragon (if you used Cumberpatch + Cactus you wouldn't be meeting the element, Cumberpatch + monolith wouldn't use Cactus, and Cactus + monolith can't use Cumberpatch). The best combo to use is Cactus + Monolith 1, 4 or Hedera/Pixie, since they only add an extra two elements after Cactus'.
What combos it’s required for — more combos is better See the Proboards Forum for this:
POST LINK - required dragons Use
POST LINK - future limited combos to see what dragons will be required for the later limiteds in this event. These combos can change but very rarely do. If they ever include currently unavailable dragons the likelihood is the parents will either be changed or added during the course of the event.
Any dragon
not on the Proboards Forum list isn’t yet required for any combo, so isn’t a great idea if this is your main criteria.
EC price — more expensive (bottom of list) is better for the end of event gift (for the market, my suggestion would be many cheap dragons over one or two expensive ones) ***DOUBLE CHECK PRICES*** Name(s) | Price |

DC earning — higher earners (top of list) are better - I wouldn't advise this to be your only criteria when choosing dragons because you'll get enough DC even without specifically going for high-earners, but it's definitely something that can be considered in conjunction with other criteria. If you want to earn lots of DC, make sure to check out the DC farming post. This includes info about in-game rounding of DC rates - I have only included the in-game rate on this post.
- Without boosts, Triple Rainbow, Niamh, Fae, Quaa and Cherrie are the best. With boosts, Niamh, Quaa, Arcrider, Somnig and Ancestor are the best. Niamh is a suggested DC farm dragon placed in Harmonious habitats. Ancestor is the highest-earning dragon that can be stored in a non-reward high DC-cap habitat, Snowflake.

Some suggestions for dragons if you can't decide what to go for - Breeding in this event: As mentioned, Swallowtail, Marbletail, Duskwing and Starwing, as well as two of Hedera/Pixie/Monolith 1 or Glyph and Monolith 5 are the best options to go for in terms of breeding Chrysalis and Monolith dragons. Sumi, Berry, Flowerhop and Panlong only require elements and are required for two dragons each, so they'll be relatively easy to obtain and give you access to multiple dragons. Woodvine requires Willow, but that's a common permanent dragon, so you can probably already meet the combo; and like the dragons listed above, it's required for two more dragons. Getting those five dragons will give you a good variety of other dragons to consider.
- Breeding in future events: MISFORTUNE. It's required for six dragons over the course of the year. It would even be worth getting two, since three of those dragons show up in the same event as each other. (Once you have one, it's a really good idea to double parent clone in Co-Op with the in-game time set to night.) Bloom is also a good choice (so far it hasn't shown up in the winter event, when it required for Epoch), as is Narcis (though when Hyperion showed up in the Halloween event last year, so did Narcis). Sumi is good here again due to being required for Canvas.
- DC: Niamh and Ancestor are the best options here. Niamh is one of the highest earning dragons in the game fully boosted. Ancestor doesn't earn as much but can be stored in a non-reward habitat (Snowflake) and still be viable for a makeshift DC farm, but Nacre (an anniversary dragon) is better DC-wise for Snowflake habitats in the long run. Glasswing is good for a makeshift Dream farm but Iden is better in the long run.
- Uncloneable dragons: Hedera, Pixie, Glyph and Minchi are evolution dragons, meaning you cannot obtain them outside of lucky EoMs, Dragon Draws or wishes outside of this event.
- Other: Sumi, Cherrie, Narcis and Snooz are all epic dragons that have at least one primary element, so will be useful for the Race Track. (Sumi covers Cherrie's one element though, so Cherrie's less useful once you have Sumi.)
The end of event gift Near the end of the event (usually within a week of EC collection ending), we are given the option to get one of a selection of dragons from the event for free from the last daily event gift. Claiming follows the same patterns as EoMs and RBCs, so if you don't yet have the dragon you claim it'll be the most basic form, then a twin, then twin-traited (Rift-exclusives will always be traited and will never be a twin and normal primaries/Ghostlies will never be traited). DECA could theoretically stop putting this as the final event gift but it's unlikely.
It seems safe to assume that any dragon that has been in the current type of event in previous years will show up in the end of event gift. Unless DECA changes things, new releases won't ever be available. Dragons that aren't new but haven't been in this type of event before may or may not be in the gift.
My suggestion for end of event gifts would be to work out the dragons you most want/would find most useful and then to get the most expensive and/or hardest to breed of those.
Note that if you are too low-level to hatch a dragon from the event, you can still breed it/buy it from the event market/claim it with the gift, it will just be kept in your Gifts until you can hatch it.
Non-dragons you might consider getting from the event market - It is a dragon, but if you struggle to get gems and have lots of EC spare at the end of the event, you might consider buying extra Ovalith dragons. It's the only gem-earning dragon that's consistently available to buy for EC - however, like all gem-earning dragons apart from the seasonal ones (Jet, Lapis, Jade and Amber, which earn even less) it only earns 1/week even at level 10, so it's not game-changing - just something to consider if you have lots of EC left over.
- Some of the most important things to get are the Lost Island and Gemstone reward habitats. The habitats aren't available at all at other times of the year (there are non-reward Gemstone habitats, but they cost gems and increase in price) and the Lost Island is only wishable/purchaseable for a lot of gems. Unlocking at least one type of cube is also a good idea, since they're so cheap and you can use them for the cube trick (cover every empty space of your islands with cubes to force event hidden items to spawn on the portal, making them easier to find).
- The Weather Station and Twilight Tower are useful if you want to get traited versions of time/weather specific dragons or their descendants, but of the very few dragons they affect, all 12 breedable ones have single parent cloning Co-Op odds that aren't much worse than their combo odds, and it's more efficient to buy Aubergine directly from its event (Om of Noms). The two buildings also show up pretty regularly in events so there are less common things worth spending EC on first. However, the next event will likely have a lot of time/weather specific dragons, so if you'd like to breed them, this event is a good time to try and get the Weather Station and Twilight Tower. If you can only get one, get the Twilight Tower, since it affects 10 dragons (the Weather Station only affects 3) and it affects more of the aesthetics (the music and background rather than just the weather particles).
- Besides Gemstone reward habitats, Harmonious habitats are the most useful this event as they're good for DC farms (namely Niamh). There's a non-reward variant of Monolith habitats that is permanently available for DC in the main market, so the reward Monolith habitat is only good for aesthetics or if you're low on habitat capacity. Buy Chrysalis/Hidden habitats as you need them.
- Island themes and paths likely won't ever be available to buy (themes)/unlock (paths) outside of events so if you want them, get them now. Save decorations for last if you have spare EC because they’ll most likely reappear for DC rather than EC in the next Decorators’ Week. (When Decorators' Week next happens, I'll make a list of what decos cost 25 gems, so I can write that info here in future events.)
- The second half of POST LINK - required dragons has the items with the best EC-to-DC ratios (it's the second half of the post).
I hope this post helps you decide what to go for! :)

2022.12.31 02:29 MolhCD Is there even a point completing all the story (main & side) missions in DOTN lol
So, I did all the main & side missions in Nioh 2 one-by-one in every difficulty level before proceeding to the next, though I did twilight missions too of the next difficulty level if they were available.
I have also similarly done all the dojo missions, scroll missions that came my way, etc etc, up to DOTN.
Now though in DOTN I've unlocked all the regions, also completed all dojo missions, completed Eye of the Beholder. And done a bit of the UW as well.
My original plan was to do DOTN and also UW slowly and somewhat concurrently. But it seems...pointless at this stage rn lol.
Any thoughts? What's your own experiences like, did you guys who already completed DOTN/UW/Depths bother to clear all of DOTN?
Cos it seems kinda pointless rn. And with all the +level modifiers in UW, it does seem you will be inevitably overgeared for DOTN. Unless you don't spend your lapis on them, which in that case you artificially hobble and slow your own progress (and my approach to the gameplay has already been the slowest possible up to this point kek)
