I personally love the idea of Action Flicks: a blizzard of mini-expansions instead of spending all the resources to flesh out each one individually. That being said, I noticed that in Action Flicks Vol. 2, they're starting to bump up against action genres that I don't know need their own dedicated Flick. Cop dramas feel like they could be easily modeled with the base ruleset, an "Angels & Demons" Flick feels like Midnight Wars with the rules shuffled around, etc. What are the Flicks that you think are missing, that could really use some mechanical backing? Some of my ideas:

• "The Shambling Dead" -- zombie apocalypse flick! Based on 28 Days Later, World War Z, The Walking Dead, etc. Rules for fighting off massive swarms of low-strength, low-durability Goons; some light base-building mechanics for Time-Outs that let you stockpile resources and develop defensive fortifications; some mechanics for assembling a growing team of specialist NPCs that hang out at base and develop upgrades between missions.
• "Bullets & Brimstone" -- over-the-top stylish action flick! Based on video games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Darksiders, etc. Rules that turn strong hits into Free Re-rolls to emulate combo attacks; feat groups connected to specific weapons to replicate the feel of switchable fighting styles; special "Showstopper" attacks linked to Extreme/Impossible Successes and/or Spotlights to emulate super moves.
• "Sins & Cigarettes" -- noir action flick! Based on Sin City, The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, etc. Rules for assembling clues and following leads; slightly more detailed (but not too crazy) social mechanics for interrogating or persuading; mechanics that give each Hero a dark secret that comes out over the course of the campaign.
• "Mighty Heroes" -- shonen anime flick! Based on Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, etc. Rules for combat where punches or explosions can knock characters through buildings and into new arenas; rules for power evolutions and "final forms"; special counterattack reactions that emulate the feel of teleporting behind an enemy or redirecting massive energy beams or power explosions.
• "Cult Classic!" -- absolutely awful D-grade action flick! Based on Sharknado, Velocipastor, etc. Rules for special Adrenaline moves that take advantage of the campaign's poorly budgeted sets or terrible practical effects; a Plan B where the Heroes can add in a plot twist so long as it's really, really stupid; encouraged overuse of trite catchphrases.

I know that some of these (particularly the noir mystery one) sort of strain or chafe against the genre conventions of Outgunned's thesis, but I still think they're doable and more flavorful than cop dramas.
Is there an Action Flick anyone else is waiting for?
Edit: Wow, just checked the Outgunned Adventure Backerkit campaign, and it looks like the next action flick is "Army of Evil," a la The Evil Dead movies. I should play the lotto today.

This sub has been such an amazing resource as I take the leap into the querying trenches. Thank you all! I’d love to hear any critiques. I’m trying to match the book’s irreverent voice in the letter and hopefully that’s working. I’m also curious about my comps. Tonally, I think THURSDAY MURDER CLUB is a good fit, but is it too big to reference? PUNK IS DEAD, complete at 83,000 words, is a comedic murder mystery following two outcast amateur detectives bumbling through the gritty late ‘70s punk rock scene. It’s a standalone novel with series potential, sitting somewhere between Richard Osman’s THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB and Benjamin Stevenson’s EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE.
Brash street photographer Dory Snow and her dim-witted British boyfriend Dash Dillinger are perfectly happy crashing through the seediest parts of New York City in search of cheap drugs and fun times. Equal parts Nick & Nora and Sid & Nancy, they find themselves at CBGBs the night punk rocker Robbie Tomorrow turns up dead in the bathroom after his band’s debut show, neck sliced open with a guitar string. And the number one suspect? The teenage groupie that Dory helped sneak backstage after the show. Whoops. Now every punk in town blames Dory for her part in killing the next rock-n-roll superstar.
The cops don’t seem to care about some dead punk, so Dory and Dash launch their own investigation into Robbie’s murder. If they can prove the groupie is innocent, Dory gets her reputation back. And also, justice prevails, good guys win, blah blah blah.
But it won’t be easy. Posing as music journalists to get answers from a sleazy record exec? Check. Using Dash’s prized guitar as bait to capture a one-eyed roadie with secrets of his own? You bet. And then there’s sneaking into the glitzy world of Studio 54, basically Mordor for punks, to meet the disco-obsessed mafia crime boss who rules from her VIP suite. Add to that, the city’s supply of illegal drugs has mysteriously dried up, leaving Dory and Dash to solve this case sober. Which might be worse than death.
[Brief summary of writing credits] While I wasn’t technically born until the year after this novel takes place, I’d give anything to have lived through the NYC punk scene firsthand. Except maybe without all the drugs. I get sleepy after one glass of wine.

I’ve done the math, checked my work. Indisputably the perfect length for a punk song. Gimme three chords, a white-knuckle power blast of drums, and a bass guitar throbbing like an audio kick to the kidneys. Lyrics reminding you society is scum, we’re all gonna die, but also you can dance to it. Short, sweet sonic perfection.
Go past three minutes and you might as well be Burt Bacharach, crooning about the warm embrace of love or whatever. Punks don’t croon. Honestly not sure it even counts as music if it doesn’t make you feel like shit.

The club’s packed in tight, all elbows and assholes, a heady mix of leather and beer and cigarette smoke that smells like an animal slaughterhouse. These low-life degenerates - of which I proudly consider myself a contributing member - stumble into a place like this for precisely two reasons: music and booze. Drugs too, I guess, which flow freely through the crowd, be they snorted, swallowed, injected, or otherwise. And the much anticipated CBGBs debut from Spunk Riot means we’re four hundred people in a space meant for half that, not that fire codes mean anything around here.
Tonight’s our first night back since Dash and I skipped town. Not saying I expect trumpets and banners and all that, but six months is a long time gone. Figured our glorious return would be a bigger deal. More than half the sweaty, pock-marked faces here belong to strangers. Shouldn’t be surprised. Punk life moves faster than the chord progressions. People fall out of the scene, bands come and go.
Still, you can’t exactly call it a homecoming if nobody knows who the hell you are.

Okay, so I've been working on a load order the past few weeks, have restarted a new save several times & keep running into this issue. At this point I'm unsure if my mod list or Bethesda is to blame, I remember years back when Fallout 4 released the dlc Automatron had issues with crashing, possibly the new update bugged missions again or possibly Bethesda never actually fixed them to begin with.
So anyway enough scapegoating, the issue I'm having is every time I'm on certain missions & walk through a door with a siren going off my game will CTD. These are the following missions I've experienced crashes on thus far: 1. "Restoring Order" mission while approaching the Mechanist inside the RobCo Center at a certain point a siren will go off & game will CTD. 2. "Echoes of the Past" mission while trying to clear the Atlantic Offices building of Enclave Soldiers, like before certain point in building sirens will go off & game will CTD. 3. "The Secret of Cabot House" mission while helping Jack reach the basement, same thing as others once i get to a certain point sirens will go off & game will CTD. These are the missions I've came across so far that are causing the stupid siren to crash my game consistently, I'm sure there will be more & feel that it is related to Automatron dlc issues.
A few notes, I own all the DLC's & have them installed, I'm not currently using UFO4P mod. Here are a few things I've tried to fix issue: Uninstalled Automatron dlc (game wouldn't even start without crashing), moved Automatron dlc to external harddrive, Set my display settings to 30FPS, disabled AWKCR & S. C.A.P mod. None of these suggested fixes have worked, I'm running game on a Xbox Series X, the game runs mostly fine other then crashing when that dumb ass siren goes off.
My question is am I the only one experiencing these issues, I've tried searching & haven't seen any post with similar issues. Are there any mods in my load order that stand out that could be causing this issue, possibly I have mods out of place in my load order that are conflicting with each other? Is Automatron dlc just broken at the moment? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I've been working on this load order for weeks & finally got it where I want it, I just want to actually beat the game for the first time but these missions being blocked is causing massive headache's.

Hey everyone, I don't expect anyone to reply to this as it'll probably be shrouded by the other posts. Just needed somewhere to write it all down.
My life has never been good. I've had moments of happiness, even for extended periods of time, but never for longer than a few months at most. I grew up in a horrible environments in and out of CPS where my Mum finally got custody of me at age 3, after I remained in a foster home for around 6 months. My Mom tried so hard for me, even until she won her court case against my birth Father. Until I was around 12, I was raised in a fairly normal environment by myself. Most of my childhood I never endured abuse or anything like that. It wasn't until I was 12, shit got real. At that age, people deemed my problems invalid because I was so young and "it couldn't be that bad" or "other people have it worse". I could never tell my Mum because I didn't want to dissapoint her and make it seem like all her efforts were for naught. As such, I sat alone with my problems, occasionally talking to people online, but nothing helped. When I turned 13, I discovered herbal cigarettes for the first time. I would roll a herb (usually something that produced a relaxing effect or a minor hallucinagen) and smoke it on my porch when my parents weren't home. After I first tried it, I told myself, "It was a good stress reliever, but I'm not gonna do this again. It's bad for me." This cycle repeated daily for around a month. Eventually, my parents found out. Despite my worries, they weren't mad. But the dissapointment in my Mum's eyes were unreal.
This was the moment where I first lost my parents trust.
Eventually, I stopped, as my parents hid everything away from me. Because of this I never wanted to be at my house, so I was with a new group of "friends: I had made. There was this one guy, who I'll name John. John shared a lot of my common interests, and would talk to me during class and we'd hang out at the centre of our city pretty often, just us two messing around and having fun, like a bunch of 8th grade boys. This lasted for a few months. I had one of the best birthdays ever with him. Around a month afterwards, this man somehow tricked me into sending nudes to him. I'm a straight man. I thought this was another one of his jokes and we'd be chill afterwards.
I was wrong.
The next day, I went to school surrounded by weirded stares and comments on the situation. I knew then, that I seriously fucked up bad. I somehow got myself out of the situation by saying it wasn't me, but my friendship with John was diminished. Despite this, he was the only friend I actually hung out with consistently after that. I dealt with his remarks in the times in the future, which grew more and more consistent as the times went on. I knew I had to let him go after he told my principle that I had a weapon on me for self defense (which basically everyone in my city does), which nearly led to me being suspended. Eventually, I abandoned him all together, and ran with whatever little amount of pride I had left. I fell into a huge state of depression after this. Even my online friends didn't want me anymore. Someone had accused me of being a pedophile and falsified screenshots. I had no one.
One day, after school, a friend who I wasn't particularly close with wanted to hang out with me after school. He mentioned his parents had a cabinet full of alcohol.
Seeing no danger with this, I accepted without hesitation. This was my first experience with alcohol. I got wasted with him, and for the first time in months, my worries washed away. Eventually, this became a weekly occurance. I would tell my parents I was going to the park, but instead I would get drunk with my friend. This soon became the only way I could live without stress. Around this time, I became closer with an acuqainted friend and his friend group, who we'll call Terry and his friends. Terry was a chill guy. We didn't share all the same interests, but he liked me for who I was. He didn't care about my past. I became closer with his friends, too. Eventually this became my new friend group. Around the time I formed this new friend group, I stopped going drinking with my other friend. Not because I didn't want to, but because he stopped pestering me to hang out with him like he did the months before. Instead, the roles were reversed at that point. Me and this friend group started hanging out more, and more, and more.
During this time, I met my first love. It was online, but it felt like the best thing in the world. We were young, and stupid. She was beautiful. I remember first talking to her on the phone on the plane ride to my Uncle's wedding. I decided to myself that I really liked this girl. I wanted her more than anything. I remember she was the only thing I dedicated myself for. Something I felt was worth being there for. I finally felt like I had some worth for the first time in forever. I should mention this was slightly before the drinking thing. We talked, we called, we loved for two whole weeks. Towards the end, I made the stupid mistake of telling her that "if I didn't meet her I probably would've killed myself". This wasn't entirely true. I was depressed before talking to her, but I don't think I was suicidal. However, this seemed to be a problem for her. Apparently, she felt trapped. Thus, she left me. I remember having to hide my heartbreak from my parents. I shortly got over it, however, and met a new girl from my school. I realize now I didn't love her, I loved the idea of being in a relationship. I remember joking to my ex about how bad my girtlfriend at the time was. After a while, she found out I was following other girls on instagram. I denied it at first, but discovered it was an opportunity to pin a breakup on her not trusting me enough, so I used that reason and dumped her. She later told the whole school I was unloyal (which I wasn't, I didn't even talk to the girls I followed). She proceeded to post shitty photos of me on her tiktok account. I remember being fuming. If sonething so small was the worst of my problems now, I would be blissful happy right now. A few weeks afterwards, I got back with my first ex. This time, it was one sided. After just over a month, I began to look at girls in my class with desire. I completely broke it off with my ex, telling her I didn't love her anymore. Years later, I still regret this decision. She accepted this, and we remained friends. Every time I felt lonely, I would talk to her again, and we would begin talking like we were together again. This repeated for around 6 months. We kept talking until around a few months ago, where I discovered she blocked me out of nowhere. I believe it was out of respect for her new boyfriend, which I respect.
After we had broken it off for the final time, I began spending time outside of school with my new friend group. Slowly, we began to hang out more and more. I even found a new girlfriend, which I had found off of quick add on snapchat, lol. Around Christmas, things went downhill. My friends asked a personal question, which was whether my girlfriend had sent me explicit pictures (i thought it would make me sound cooler if I said yes), but then they caught me in the lie, and they immediately lost trust for me. I saw the same look in their eyes as I saw in my Mother. Distrust. I tried to salvage the friendship, but I new it wouldn't be the same ever again. It still isn't. I saw the cycle repeat itself. Like last time, I left my girlfriend because I lost interest. I began to become depressed again. I started vaping and drinking to escape the pain. I didn't care as much about my looks anymore. I remember having one of the worst heartbreaks of my life afterwards. I told myself I wouldn't date ever again. I still hung out with my friends, but we all knew inside that we didnt care for each other as much as we acted. For around a month, I lived life in a cycle. A depressed cycle. One day, I caught a glimpse of a girl in my class who was exactly my type in a woman, physically and mentally. I knew she was far too good for me. I barely talked to her, and didn't have her on any social media. I eventually got the courage one afternoon to add her on snapchat, after one of my friends gave me her snap. This was after a mutual friend informed me that she found me attractive, which I didn't buy. The night I added her, we talked, and I rememebr playing games with her and her friends. It was one of the best nights I've ever had. I fucked up my sleep sdchedule just to speak to her longer. I got to know her more, and more. She was the most beautiful and perfect girl in the world. My eternal bliss lasted for a week. I had ordered flowers to ask her out with and I had the whole thing planned out with her friends. I remember going to my first work shift, and coming home, and getting a message from her:
"Hey, I think I'm lesbian. It's not your fault, I promise. I'm so sorry."
I was heartbroken, I kept tryna suffocated myself over and over again. I asked her why, what her thought process was. She eventually tired of my questions and she said that I was being a dick about it. I ended up sending her a message later that day telling her that I was sorry for being a dick about it (I still don't know what I did wrong). I didn't go to school the next day. I remember avoiding her hard for the whole rest of the school term. I was insanely depressed afterwards, the worst I've ever felt. she was the best thing that ever happened to me. I tried weed for the first time afterwards, it was mesmerising. It nearly compared to the feeling of being with her. But it was only a temporary escape. As the weeks went on, I became more and more depressed. Then, my parents found out I smoked weed, and my own mother told the police (I still dont know if thats morally right and im overthinking it) and my whole family found out and now hates me. I'm scheduled to see them tomorrow. I'm being illegally overowkred by my job, and I can;t do anything about it. I didn;t show up today, I'm probably already fired. I tried a cigarette today, it was one last thing I wanted to know before I pass. I went to one last convension today, and asked God for a sign to keep living. I ended up meeting a girl, asking for her number, and she gave me her insta and messaged me "You really thought I'd date you? Not tryna be mean".
In three hours, it'll turn midnight. I'll go to a store, find nitrous oxide, and overdose on that. Asphyxiation isn't that painful. I have nothing at all.

Cinema Pro is no more and none of its features are getting ported into new app Video Pro mode, so this is a perfect opportunity to release this (almost) definite guide as to when and how to record video footage in Cinema Pro. All of us are pretty much aware of most its shortcomings this app has but we are not going to complain or talk about them here, instead we are going to celebrate EOL of Cinema Pro.
I could bet my pet that about 90% of Xperia users ain’t touching Cinema Pro because they feel uncomfortable using it, that includes mobile camera enthusiasts. Instead, they go to BASIC Video or Video Pro and I don’t blame them as learning curve in Cinema Pro is pretty steep but on the other hand this camera app has very flexible workflow and results can be stunning if you practice enough.
So, first things first, none of the video camera apps will make your videos gorgeous by itself. Filming a video, much like a taking a photo, is all about framing your shot. Keep in mind that Cinema Pro is meant for static shots and short pans due to lack of auto ISO adjustments. If your shot is poorly framed not even a Burano can save your butt. Frame your shot properly before you even touch record button. But before you even do that here are few things you should read first to get yourself familiar with Cinema Pro.

Here is what Cinema Pro offers and can do that other Xperia camera apps can’t.
CLIP METADATA
This probably was not your first thought I was gonna bring up, right? Unlike Video Pro which does not save any advanced metadata in video clips Cinema Pro does and it does it quite good.
When you go to Cinema Library and play any clip inside your project (not final video) you can tap on ellipsis at upper right corner and choose Details. Brown window will pop up with following metadata such as ~resolution~ and ~FPS~ but besides that we also get ~Look~ we picked, ~Lens~, ~Stabilization~, ~WB~, ~ISO~, ~Shutter~ speed, ~Focus~ and ~Audio~ level. If we import the clip in desktop software we also get ~bit depth~, ~color space~, ~EOTF~, ~format~, etc.
Why is this important? If you are really making a video project there is a great chance that you imported those clips on your desktop OS and that you are editing or retouching them inside some desktop software. Desktop software has power of utilizing metadata for your convenience when manipulating and exporting the video, matching shots, doing color correction or just doing offline editing.
This will make your life a lot easier. As you will see in my sample footage below, I’ve actually automated the burn-in with the Cinema Pro clip metadata (Looks, WB, Shutter, etc.) to make each clip display the metadata on-screen without me having to punch it in manually.
METERING
If you don’t have Metering bar enabled in your UI you are doing it wrong. Go to yellow hamburger menu to the right and tap Customize DISP and make sure you have Metering Manual set to ON.
Again, what is this important? Because of two things. Cinema Pro dims the display all the time when it’s running for some reason (presumably to better show HLG result on screen) so if you have Xperia 1, 1II, 1III, PRO-I you will be struggling to see anything while being outdoors. Situation is not any better on 1IV and 1V but it’s more usable. Do not trust your display when it comes to exposure. Instead trust your Metering bar and always shoot around 0 if possible, you will thank me for this once you view your clip on a HDR UHD TV. If it’s too bright outside you can try lowering the shutter speed to level the exposure just make sure do not have fast moving subjects in frame such as cars because it will look choppy.
Second, we’ve already established that Cinema Pro is meant for static shots or gentle panning but if you have to do something “wild” such as POV or going from one lighting condition to other (and sometimes that means just a simple camera tilt from ground up to the sky) you will need Metering to try to find the middle value. Do a test run without recording first and pay attention at the meter to see how many stops is the spread between one frame to another. Lets say you adjusted ISO/Shutter for the 0 at the beginning of your camera movement and once your done with the move metering is showing +2. In that case you will need to set your beginning value at -1 in order to get to +1 in the end to contain both highlights and shadows. Just keep in mind that most of the time your aggressive tilts will be ranging from 0 to well above or under -/+2 and in that case, you will have to rethink what you want to do. That’s right Cinema Pro is a slow burn and unnecessary methodical because it applies cine camera philosophy to crappy mobile sensors.
WDR with Stabilization
Here is another one that is not available inside BASIC or Video Pro unless you have 5V or 1VI device. WDR or Wide Dynamic Range option is made for Cinema Pro period. Cinema Pro was pretty much useless until WDR options popped up in PRO-I. So, what does it do? It records three frames at once and then stack them together to make one frame. Camera is recording at 120fps and then outputs 30/25/24 fps as final result hence why it’s not available at 60fps in any app. Using WDR in Cinema Pro you contain the highlights which is impossible to do in SDR mode unless you are in some dimmed environment.
General rule is to always have the WDR on but if you can do it without do it. There is no false color option in Cinema Pro but if you toggle between WDR and SDR you will see blown out highlights in SDR as some mushy color on display. It’s quite easy to spot the difference. Unlike in Video Pro in Cinema Pro WDR does not introduce purple cast in dark/black areas when shooting in low(er)-light conditions. Cinema Pro has a bigger threshold when shooting in low-light before introduces purple cast in blacks compared to Video Pro as long as you do not shoot in N/A Look (you shouldn’t be shooting in N/A like ever but more on that later). Video Pro utilizes WDR quite poorly, in daylight scenes it drops the gain making dark areas even darker which boosts the contrast to a point where you get that Pixel zombie decomposition like human faces. Cinema Pro does NOT do that, instead it only affects the highlights mostly.
Drawback of WDR in both Cinema Pro and Video Pro requires separate paragraph because it’s a big issue. Whenever you have high frequency texture in your shot such as tiny rubble road (asphalt) or stone mosaic wall you will get texture floating effect like texture is rearranging itself. It’s super trippy. That issue persists because development team didn’t master the frame stacking while filming. Those three frames that get to be one do not alight properly with the next stacked frame when it comes to big areas with tiny patterns.
But one good thing that also requires its own paragraph is video stabilization with HLG WDR option turned on. As previously mentioned, that combo is not possible in Video Pro or BASIC modes but it is in Cinema Pro. How? Well Cinema Pro crops top and bottom of 16:9 footage to 21:9 so it has some wiggle room to give as some basic stabilization. Stabilization is nothing spectacular but it doesn’t crop in the image in order to enable stabilization like Video Pro does. In other words, it doesn’t take Video Pro stabilized cropped in frame to enable stabilization. It shoots native UHD which is really important to preserve the quality unlike both Video Pro and BASIC that crop in UHD frame to turn on stabilization and then upscale the frame back to UHD. Cinema Pro does not do that.

NIGHTSHOOTING
Cinema Pro does really good night shots due to its flexibility to adjust Looks and auto white balance which I think is superior to Video Pro/BASIC. Funny things is that all of the exposure environment shortcomings during the daytime are not such a big deal during the night time because streets are evenly lit by light poles. So you have more freedom to pan, tilt and walk around while filming in Cinema Pro at night time then during the day. Here is a winning combo to make the night shot as good as possible: ~SDR + VENICE CS + AUTO WB unlocked~. Pretty straight forward. I find VENICE CS greatest strength to be default Look for nighttime as it’s easy on ISO, doesn’t boost contrast and has the least noise compared to some other looks. That doesn’t mean you can’t play around with the Looks during the night, if street lighting is annoyingly yellow you can use Cool/Blue60 +A to introduce some cool gray into the mix. And with the mention of other color profiles this brings us to the most important and the biggest feature of Cinema Pro, the Looks section.
LOOKS + TEMPERATURE + A/B + G/M Adjustments
This alone is the biggest deal in Cinema Pro app and this alone is what most of the users have no idea how to tweak and manipulate. If you thought rack focus is the number one feature in Cinema Pro, well I can assure you it’s number two right after this super flexible image manipulation output. Before we start discussing looks you have to keep in mind there is one factor in equation here and that’s Whitebalance. Most of the users stick with VENICE CS and don’t use any other look because by default all the looks are in your face when left in Auto whitebalance mode. Even less users who default to VENICE CS fiddle with whitebalance to unlock the full potential of image looks manipulation. Before you start playing with the looks you have to go to yellow hamburger menu and ~change WB MODE to TEMPERATURE~ instead of Preset.
With Temperature mode turned on you now have the option to set desired temperature in kelvins as well as to play with A/B and G/M sliders. What those sliders do? AB slider stands for Amber and Blue but names are inverted on axis so B will be to the left and A to the right. You can actually go quite wild with AB as our eyes are a lot less sensitive to warm and cold adjustments. GM slider stands for Green and Magenta and axis works just as the letters, green to the left and magenta to the right. GB sliders requires quite slight nudges in both directions because our eyes perceive color tilt very aggressively. You might want to use GB slider to adjust for human skin or just go artistic on a certain look.
You might ask yourself what the difference between setting up temperature and pushing AB sliders and I could tell you the order it needs to be done to make a proper impact on the picked Look.
1. You always adjust Temperature first. Between 4700K and 5500K is considered daylight in Cinema Pro (forget 6500K as you will crush it with amber). That’s at least how my eyes perceive it. If you pick lets say Strong/Blue100 look you will want to go to 7000K to neutralize it and then add some of A to make it shift from cold to warm look. Oh yeah it’s possible, so suddenly you just changed the bluest of the blue looks into yellow look.
2. Now you fiddle with AB/GM sliders for finer adjustments. AB will have more of an impact if you stick between 4700K-5500K but if you go below or over those Kelvins AB slider will get weaker. GM slider on the other hand will stay powerful and affect any highlight there is in an image.
3. Combine these two to completely alter any Look you pick.

Shot setup consists of warm neutral headphones, white coffee cup, glass of water to see highlights behavior and ugly yellow table and green trees. It's a shame I forgot to put red pack of cigarettes or something as reds are crazy different depending on the look you choose.
Soft/Yellow40 gain req: high contrast: lowest texture: softest grade: non-unifying offset: medium hdr: bright
This is the very interesting one and when combined with the right scene it can look marvelous. Soft look is your Orange & Teal go to look pretty much. It’s not very obvious but it’s not subtle either. One of the major traits of this look is really the softer image, not as sharp as let’s say Bright but because of that it mitigates artifacts quite nicely. Keep in mind that this look requires quite a gain so you will be boosting ISO until you reach the 0 in almost every situation. But because this looks require lots of additional stops it’s very grateful for bright environments. It has medium contrast but it can propel highlights quite high, things like neon signs look like glowing neon signs so it has a strong HDR effect which can clip easy. It doesn’t have unifying image trait, so if you are into color graded look this one will not offer that. That’s kind of a given considering it’s balancing out between orange and teal. If you want to unify it then your best bet is to shift it toward cool temperature or push A slider all the way to the left while introducing some magenta with M slider to the right. Soft/Yellow60 can’t completely switch from all blue to all yellow so it’s altering offset limit is medium.
Auto WB look for Soft/Yellow40 is quite decent but if you have some yellow patches, they will pick up some green tint. To remedy that just add some M like 1.x and add splash of Amber like 1.5 to 3 to be sure. If you want to cool down the image just drop Kelvins down or go crazy with B slider. On the other hand if you want to neutralize to get as close to white as possible you will need to add M1.5 or more together with cooler Kelvins. If you are shooting neutrals with this Look make sure you kill green cause it will overtake the whole image.
Where this Look kicks some major but is in a scene where you have brown wood veneer and blue/teal walls or panels. You will get an awesome O&T look out of it.

Opaque/Blue20/Yellow60 gain req: medium contrast: medium texture: sharp grade: unifying offset: medium hdr: medium
Another one that gets overlooked due to poor AUTO WB looks. When set to default WB it looks muddy and sepia like so most of us don’t know what to do with it. You will be shocked now if I tell you this should be your 2^nd go to Look right after Bright. Yup, VENICE CS is not even in top two and I will elaborate why when we get to it. One thing to know in order to use this look you need to modify it from the get go. You need to kill that yellow and boost ISO for a stop or stop and half compared to Bright.
Opaque is great for skintones as they are easily adjusted with AB/GM sliders. Image is very creamy despite having enough clarity and medium contrast. If you underexpose you get some deeper contrast without ruining the creamy image. It’s great for shooting outdoor people gatherings, landscapes on a mute and cloudy day or any outdoor activity. Indoor is kind of tricky due to tungsten lighting but manageable although its not as appetizing as outdoor shots. Keep in mind when shooting at golden hour you will need deeper adjustments to get that sepia out and get the gold in. On any other condition it’s super easy to neutralize the image, you don’t have to push temperature nor sliders too far to get it just right. HDR effect is subtle and not over the top, proper medium and saturation is quite clever despite being a sepia preset. Colors are not muted by any means unless they have some brown in them. If you are a fan of grading I could assure you Opaque has quite unifying image effect no matter if you shoot warm, neutral or cold which is great. Transforming the look to complete cold or warm is tricky as it always keep that mud/sepia yellow in highlights.
To neutralize the look at daytime all you have to do is drop the temp around 4000K or push B slider to your liking. You can always do cold temperature to kill sepia and bring back some heat by pushing A slider. If you want to shoot gold tones then keep it around 5000K and adjust A to your liking while balancing GM.
This look produces super deep and rich reds, amazing reds. And if you combine that red with something beige or sand color like you will get a match made in heaven. Filming bars with brown furnishing packed with people is a treat as well. Shooting at night time in street lights is also a treat for this look.

Cool/Blue60 gain req: med to hi contrast: medium texture: sharp grade: very unifying offset: low hdr: medium
In a nutshell this is a faux bleach bypass or silver look if adjusted right. Together with Soft this has to be the most creative usage look offered. Unlike Soft this one is very easy to setup and results are sharp. At the first glance users might be confused what’s the difference between this one and Strong/BU100 as both look quite similar in Auto WB mode. But once you go out of auto look and start adjusting it soon you figure out that Cool/BU60 look has no vibrance and that’s what makes all the difference compared to all other looks. Gain adjustment to get to 0 is only like 1 stop compared to Bright or VENICE CS. Clarity is right on the par with others and contrast at proper sweet spot. HDR effect is tad bit mute but not by much and it works. And now if you ever wanted a look that makes the whole image like its graded as a whole, look no further (pun intended) than this one.
If you pay close attention, you can tell from the get go that this has silver look to it but it just needs to be released. Those familiar with bleach bypass look will know exactly what to expect from this one. If left in Auto WB you will get nothing but as soon as you dial A slider in more than a half you are waking it up slowly. If you want to get rid of the major blue cast you want to push temperature to 7000K and adjust sliders to your liking. If you drop the exposure, you will get that dramatic film look. Again, this look is quite easy to work with but it’s not flexible, don’t expect major transformations on the other end. It’s a one trick pony and it does that very well.
The best-case scenario for Cool is street photography with lots of metal on it. Cars, machines and silver or gray stuff blend in while human skin remain distinguishable. Interior shots are also great if you have to render a cold, clinical environment like office or a hospital or police station. It’s also your go to look if you want to make anticipation in the video.

Strong/Blue100 gain req: high contrast: low texture: soft grade: very unifying offset: highest hdr: bright
Turn day into a night and night into dusk. This is the most flexible look as it can get from one spectrum to the other without much casting. It’s not called strong for nothing; it really grades the whole image with a single hue. Despite being in your face it actually keeps the contrast on lower side which is very good as you can always dial it in with drop of exposure. Clipping in highlights can occur because of the nature it unifies the picture.
Because this look can go from cool to fire it can get neutral, although neutralizing it is not that simple affair as it’s with Opaque. Best way to get there is to adjust temperature. If hanging around neutral you will get image with blue cast over it. The way I see it this one is supposed to be opposite of Opaque while hitting harder. You might find some creative usage for this one if you want to go abstract and saturated. Similar to Soft look if you film contrast scene that has both cold and warm hues in it you will get that cross axis between the two and nothing in between.

Bright/Blue20/Yellow60 gain req: low contrast: highest texture: sharpest grade: non-unifying offset: low hdr: brightest
Your first go to profile when filming with Cinema Pro. It’s the closest one to Video Pro and closest one that looks like regular picture profile. If you are not looking for a creative look or any look in general this is it. It requires little to no gain adjustment which means it will not suffer from gain artifacts, it has the highest contrast and sharpest details for that mainstream image look (I do not count N/A as picture profile). But right now, there is a huge flaw that has to be addressed with this profile; it can’t capture pure reds no matter what. All reds are burgundy or violet unfortunately. But it nails down blues and teals like a pro.
On the other side it is super easy to balance out the image, its super easy to shift it to warm, cold, green or magenta. There is a quite big of a spread in temperature before image gets painted blue or yellow. It requires small nudges and results are visible right away. It plays well with the skin tones, no issues there. Where it excels is the HDR highlights. This profile kills it when there is shimmer in the view, metallics and all kinds of crazy and contrast stuff. HDR effect is exaggerated and it looks so oomph on a TV. Bright also nails down auto wb from the box so you can set it to auto and forget about it. Overall, it’s easiest to work with and sunny outdoors are a treat for the eyes. Usage of this profile equals that of Video Pro so you can use it anywhere you like. Video Pro is the direct competitor to this Look and while Video Pro can do saturated reds Bright/BU20/YE60 has a tad bit more organic feel despite being quite similar.
This is general purpose Look and being like that it doesn’t offer color grading effect nor it has any offset abilities of color transformation (unless you go completely blue 3200K or completely yellow 7500K).

VENICE CS gain req: low contrast: high texture: sharp grade: non-unifying offset: low hdr: bright
Default look and the one that’s most talked about and the one that most people use. First of all the look itself is fine but it is rather limited. It has nothing to do with Venice color science but it doesn’t have to honestly. It emulates log like image but without any flexibility of the log. It has very low ISO requirements and it’s the brightest look out of them all. Like mentioned above that makes it a go to look for low light shots. All other aspects of this look are almost on par with Bright look so I think these two go hand in hand when you want to lay off saturation and dial down blacks. In other words, don’t try to bring in VENICE CS footage into post to try to bring back vividness. It doesn’t work but that’s why there is Bright look for stuff like that. Unlike Bright look VENICE CS can capture red colors properly.
If you want to shoot haze, mist and other soft scenes VENICE CS is a dream. If you generally want to shoot relaxing stuff VENICE CS is the one to go for. Just don’t treat it as a log footage but rather as a looks footage. HDR is bright enough and it contains highlights really good. When it comes to exposure its quite flexible so margin of error is low.

Warm/Yellow80 gain req: medium contrast: high texture: sharp grade: most-unifying offset: lowest hdr: medium
This is supposed to be opposite of Cool, at least in theory. In reality we have a huge cast of orange and brown all over the screen. It’s really strong color cast and you can only manipulate it do a certain degree. It doesn’t require high ISO, it has deep contrast, good clarity and it contains highlights in HDR. On the artistic department there is vey little you can do with this. Cast is like three times stronger sepia of Opaque look. The only use case I found is when you want to turn something into golden look. Just like how Cool is silver look Warm is supposed to be gold look. But again, to my eyes it aligns more to Opaque deeper side than actual warm/gold. Shooting some neutral-colored scenery and cooling down the temperature below 4000K might give some artistic effect. This is a very limited look to play with.
There is nothing to say about N/A and Soft Monochrome except that you should never shoot in N/A it’s just horrible and if you want BW video you at least have an option.

So conclusion, Cinema Pro besides all of its shortcomings and some are pretty serious, has few features of brilliance that were never ever seen in any camera app third-party or OEM before and most likely we will never see those features again. Sony’s biggest sin with Cinema Pro is not omission of features but rather NOT improving up on what’s already in there. They just let it rot. I guess at one moment at it’s inception Cinema Pro had a great roadmap where it should go but then new management came in and shifted focus from cinema video to photography and v-logging.
Cinema Pro is dead, long live Cinema Pro. Go ahead and make some projects with it.

But what I'm saying is. When in my personal life experiences, after living both places I compare life in the US or western Europe to Belarus, I like Belarus much more.
I'm a German-American, my grandparents were German immigrants to the USA. My brother had moved back to Germany so I've been to Europe a number of times to visit him. Im from "the rust belt" (my city is Detroit Michigan) aptly named because there's nothing here but crime, poverty, abandoned buildings and drug addiction.
In 2017 is when i first started going to Europe to visit my brother and see the continent. I stopped in Frankfurt and you leave the train station and theres just homeless people and heroin addicts lining up and down the street, sleeping standing up, some looking like they are about to die. You turn left and go one block and you are in the "red light district" with a bunch of hollow eyed broken young women standing outside apartment buildings And ready to sell their body for 40 euros. I went to darmstadt to visit my brother and you get off at the train station and go out the exit to the right, and there's a camp of migrants from Africa, all laying around drinking bottles of alcohol and screaming loudly and aggressively, France the same way, at any moment in Paris or Dijon, aggressive migrants can demand cigarettes or money, it was entirely shocking to me to see in Paris people I assume were native French, quiet as a mouse, eyes pointed at the ground, trying to avoid catching anyone's attention. And it's the same in the USA, violent crime is so out of control that living in cities or using public transportation is impossible, unless you live in like a gated community that damn near doubles as like a fortress with private security life in many major cities in the US is horrible.
Then I met my Wife, a Belarusian, we settled in Minsk, had a child, lived there until the war started and my bank card from the US stopped working so I couldn't access my money. We then moved to Georgia, and began the green card process and got my daughter her dual citizenship and second (American) passport. I was in Minsk when Mike Pompeo came and Orban and Lukashenko was kind of taunting Putin by saying he will bring Trump to Belarus next and move into the US orbit. I was there for Covid, the election. The protests.
All of my friends despised Lukashenko aside from one or 2, and I saw first hand the public outcry. And I never understood it, to me, when I compare Belarus to America or Europe, Belarus seems the best country in the world. Safe, clean, my daughter could actually go outside and play and there was no fear of like a drive by shooting or some other craziness like in the USA. I understand the desire for freedom, but after living in the US, EU, and Belarus. I came to feel that there is a different kind of freedom in Belarus. There is not the freedom to talk badly about the president, a guy you'll never met or interact with. But there is freedom not to go bankrupt from medical bills, there is freedom of movement because public transportation is cheap and reliable.
My wife and I moved to the USA, I got my old job back. In Belarus I had been doing online work and a few side hustles here and there and I made about 1200 a month from my job, and I had some apps that reward you for say doing quizzes and surveys for business and you can make 1 dollar and 50 cents a day, so like 50 a month and I had 2 or 3 different ones each giving us 50 a month. My wife was getting either 200 or 250 rubles a month for her child pension for having a baby and before that had been making about 200 dollars a month at her teaching job, plus was doing private tutoring lessons making about 400 a month in total. Our bills combined, food, housing etc. Was only around 500 a month, and this was with living a rather extravagant lifestyle, much more then just the basics. We were able to save enough to go on trips to Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Italy, Spain.
We come back to the USA I'm making 5,500 a month, it's a fairly high wage. But I pay 2,000 in rent, 1200 for 3 health insurance( the cheapest available, turns out it basically doesn't cover anything) 250 for dental insurance, 500 for car payment,300 for car insurance, 1000 for day care, and 500 for heat and gas. Once we add in groceries each week I'm left with nothing. My wife needed an ultrasound for some reproductive issues a couple weeks ago, even with insurance they charged us 2500 dollars, and the worst part is they didn't even do anything, did the ultrasound, told us what we already knew, didn't provide any help, and send a letter demanding money.
The US health system is really like that meme where the one Wojack says " my stomach hurts really badly" then the chad doctor says " your lying. OK pay me 50,000"
Because of all this stuff, my wife started a tiktok where she does videos comparing life in the USA to life in Belarus/Russia/Ukraine and the entire comment section is filled with Slavic speakers who have never been to America saying it's all lies and America is awesome, "why don't you return to your fucking Russia ?" Well, we are, we are in the process of returning now, because life is so much better in Belarus then here.
Sorry for how long winded this us, but it's important to understand my background with Belarus to understand why I don't have problems with the Belarusian government. Now I'm not Belarusian, so I'm of course not trying to command the Belarusian people, I just feel that if Belarus became like western Europe or the US alot of people would end up regretting it, and that if you experienced both Belarus and the USA you might really begin to appreciate Belarus more and resent change.
Tldr: An American immigrant to Belarus that feels Belarus is like a paradise compared to the west. Safe, clean, orderly, low cost of living, better quality food instead of the American mcslop with extra high fructose corn syrup and concentrated soy, better medicine, daycare, a government that actually makes it easy to start a family. And I don't understand why people hate the government so much, they are all dictatorships that ignore whatever the people say. Ireland right now the government did several referendums on lgbtq stuff and migration. 70% of the people vote no. Government says too bad and does it anyways. It's the same in the USA, our government does not represent or care or listen to the peoples interests. The billionaires pick who will be in charge, and then just switch the faces every 4 or 8 years, buy the policies of the government never change, no matter how hard people vote. There is legal bribery ( it's called lobbying) and then the politicians do whatever the billionaire that bribed them the most wants

So last year i finished my 10th std. So during that time, i had a friend with a lot of family issues(caused by financial issues mainly),who started using cigarettes and alcohol to cope up with stress. His parents didn't know this. His father would die hearing this as he is a heart patient. I came to know about this through a friend.
After the board results, another friend of mine confessed to me that he got depressed after seeing results and he started vaping, smoking, drinking alcohol,etc.
Now I heard a friend of mine using fentanyl like wtf??
These people add these photos or vids using these in their instagram stories.
I know our lives are stressful but for solving temporary issues, why are they bringing possible permanent issues into their heads? I wanted to make the local narcotics control officers aware of these but foreseeing a possibility of their parents having a heartbreak seeing this makes me sit quite.

ASSUME POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR ALL GUILD WARS 2 EXPANSIONS/LIVING WORLD SEASONS
Intro
For some time during and after the launch period, I was ambivalent about Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure. There were aspects I enjoyed: the Wizard’s Vault was a fantastic choose-your-own-reward system that combined the benefits of the prior daily system and the log-in rewards while avoiding the occasional stinker – hello single, solitary Tome of Knowledge - you’d receive from the old system, the new elite specialization-agnostic weapons were a welcome addition to build variety, the upgraded Skyscale and Griffon were great fun. I was much less impressed by the story, the maps, and the metas. Which, as you may note, is kinda like telling Queen Jennah that you like her feet, but hate her hair, face, eyes, and personality; some of you might disagree, but I think that scale is pretty unbalanced.
Vault
So, I was kinda lukewarm on the Wizard’s Vault at first. The dailies and weeklies that facilitated these rewards were...hit or miss at launch. There was nothing quite so enjoyable as trying to do Spirit Vestibule in an orderly fashion, and people just come in and slaughter the spirit your group was going to kill next, so now you’re just stuck waiting. They’ve since been streamlined and much improved, but variety is still a bit of a weak point. It might have been a technical limitation, but I do often wonder why the old dailies weren’t retained, with the daily reward being a bolus of Astral Acclaim equal to completing all of the current daily objectives – there would have been so much more variety! We’d be able to mix together some strange, arcane concoction of PvE, WvW, and PvP objectives together however we desired. Who’s to blame? Spaghetti code? Ravioli code? Only ArenaNet knows the starchy truth behind their pasta patches. Ultimately, I really enjoy picking what I want, when I want. I am now the dopamine, the syringe, and the injector. My veins floweth over with happy juice, and my doctor is getting really worried.
Weapons
The weapons were mostly an instant hit. Yeah, yeah, I know some of them are more stinker than stoker. Some disrupt the established meta too much, some are too weak compared to existing options...but I’m a filthy casual, so if something has an enjoyable playstyle and doesn’t end up with my twitching corpse wracking up hundreds of gold in waypoint fees, I count that as a win. Variety, meet spiciness. Spiciness, meet life. However, my casualness doesn’t mean that I don’t value some semblance of balance – ArenaNet should strive to optimize these weapons for their intended purpose whether that involves buffing them, debuffing them, or altering their skills. They should maintain or increase the fun-factor where needed. Honestly, the fact that Engie’s shortbow isn’t just flinging Green Arrow/Hawkeye-style trick arrows across the battlefield to help or hinder is a sin that no god can cleanse.
Mounts
The increased freedom and mobility brought to the Skyscale and Griffon makes me giggle when I hop on an updraft in Verdant Brink or zip across the skies on a ley-line in Bloodstone Fen. The amount of airplane noises I make while playing has doubled, which is a clear sign of success. But don’t think I’m letting everyone off Scott-free! The guy who decided that the Ley-line Acclimation mastery should always be on? You owe me some hemorrhoid cream! I know you patched it, but that does nothing for all of the doctor visits from the numerous times my asshole has friction-sealed from clenching as a ley-line yanked my mount from five feet away and drove off like I was a kid and the ley-line was a candy salesman in a windowless van. Still...still, the quality of life upgrades here are obvious and meaningful across all open world zones. Steps were also taken in subsequent releases to remedy the broken elements, and, honestly, I think these upgrades solidify Skyscale and Griffon as the best mounts in the game.
Story
I have created an obscure narrative theory called “Delayed Shatification.” Originally formed in relation to the story started in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and resolved in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, but can be applied to any narrative where the media that enthusiastically starts numerous plot threads with the promise of an awesome, exciting, thrilling conclusion...but in a later installment. While this often allows for a lot of upfront “cool shit” to occur, hooking the audience and increasing anticipation for the continuation, this often necessitates that these plot threads are all hastily resolved or even outright dropped due to production limitations. When the “cool shit” plot threads are wrapped up in an unsatisfactory manner, or not at all, this has the effect of the audience now being able to look at the plot in its entirety and going “wait, that shit wasn’t actually cool! It was just the potential of ending up in an awesome place that made it seem cool, but the difficulty of a successful execution caused it to just shit itself and die.” By dropping the ball on resolving these threads, we have retroactively made the piece of media that introduced those plot threads lesser.
The prime instance of this from SOTO is our resident vascularity viceroy, Mabon. “Whoa!” I said. “Whoa.” A living mursaat? A nice mursaat? A mursaat I could write erotica very compelling and intellectual fan fic about? Tell me more! ...Oh, he disappears after completing the story on the first map? Okay, okay. They wanna save some cool stuff for later. I get it. Oh, he is promptly killed before completing the story on the second map? Well, fuck. Bro got ass-Vlasted in record time. Sure, we get journals and magical hologram memories involving Mabon, but that isn’t character development or direct interaction – it’s lore. Nor does it give us a reason to care when he gets emotionally suicide-bombed by Karlo Kryptis. It just leaves numerous could-haves and should-haves.
Mabon is really just the most prominent of these, given how early he is introduced in SOTO. He is, sadly, not the only one. Eparch? The cool guy bad bro of epic evilness? Let’s just build him up with so many nonsense vagueries and superlatives that it is impossible for him to measure up. Yet, we still kind of want him to, right? He is so nasty, so cruel, so deceptive, so...late? I tell myself that they had to know that introducing Eparch at the end of the penultimate act would guarantee that he would be a lame duck villain with no personality and no ability to influence anything narratively. He is introduced to die. We kill him. Could have been real cool if he wasn’t so sucky.
Pretty much the entire supporting cast from SOTO’s launch? Gladium, R’tchikk, The Artist Formerly Known as Vegetable, Dagda, Lyhr, Zizel, Narcisse; all of these side characters are just discarded for new, “exciting” alternatives when we swing on over to Nayos. This decision is baffling. We just got a whole cast of characters introduced – any game would struggle to flesh out so many in the length this mini expansion is dealing with – and then we replace them all with a new cast of Kryptis characters who need to be developed. I suppose that they are physically so fleshy that the writers don’t have to worry about their character development.
Much like the developers, I’ll be leaving the characters behind and moving on to something else equally forgettable: the overall plot. See, we spent a decade dealing with the Elder Dragons and their threat to Tyria, and there were times when things still felt a little rushed. Now, over the course of a year and one mini-expansion, we save both Tyria and Nayos. Maybe next expansion we’ll really amp things up and save three worlds while working two jobs, going to community college, and being a single parent.
The temptation to increase the stakes ever-higher is a well-known trap that ArenaNet has fallen into with more gusto than an American GI into a Vietnamese punji pit. Simply put, they tried to do way too much too fast, and the whiplash from, “TyriaisindangerTyriaissavedNayosisindangerNayosissaved” has put a permanent Peitha-shaped kink in my neck that only dommy-mommy kisses can mend. If mini expansions are the way of the future, give us a consistent, rotating cast of supporting characters to develop over time as we tackle small-scale, local problems, with small-scale, local solutions. No world-eaters. No world-saving. Gene Simmons once formed a business based on a simple axiom that ArenaNet should treat as gospel going forward: Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Maps
“Asset flip” got thrown around so much when discussion of Skywatch started, but I really think that’s a disservice to a pretty cool map. It is heavily aerial based, with distinct locales based on alternate-history versions of places we’ve been. Sweet! Something new with a dash of nostalgia. There is also a good variety of events, with some simple minigames (“Dip it in some bluuhd!”), and self-contained (i.e., Elona does not effect Maguuma) event chains for each region. There was a lot here that reminded me of classic GW2 zones, and I can appreciate that.
The Wizard’s Tower is actually one of my favorite hubs, though it is also one of the more intensive. I think it is one of the only zones that can cause my CPU and GPU fans to start becoming audible, but it actually hosts some mini-games and adventures, while acting as a Strike hub, a Convergence hub, and it is a regional hub with connections to all of this expansion’s maps. It also hosts numerous side-quests and bits of lore. It’s biggest downside is that it shares architecture with…
Amnytas. God save us all. The events are mostly fine, mediocre, middle-of-the-road. But the architecture, man! The white-and-gold wouldn’t kill me if it was used for, say, a single Bastion. Using it for all Bastions makes everything so monolithic, and I don’t think that everything needed to look exactly like the Wizard’s Tower. We know that this all belongs to the wizards, we can see them. Give me some variety, dammit! Maybe make Celestial and the World Tower have the white-and-gold since they rise above everything else – it also just seems fitting for Celestial to be white-and-gold, whereas I don’t think it fits as much for the others. Make the Natural covered in flora and fauna – COVERED! This place needs to be a zoo, with no barrier between the observers and the observed. Knowledge has one puny little library? I think the entire thing shoulda been books – high towers with shelves of books on the walkways, corridors with shelves of books along them, buildings with bookshelves for walls; why would they have a single library when the entire Bastion is a repository of knowledge? Strength should have been training grounds and barracks. Meditation circles for honing your mind. Training grounds for learning and crafting spells and weapons to hone the body. Medical tents for quick healing to get people back to training ASAP. The comfiest beds around for meaningful R&R before waking up to do it all again the next day. I don’t have the firmest idea on what to do with Balance, but the fact that it isn’t a symmetrical mirror image of itself is a fucking crime. Oh, and why, WHY can just anyone see the Bastion of the Obscure? Surely this should be hidden under another Bastion, or somehow decentralized in various Pueblo-esque cliff dwellings? Do we really want a central, easily accessible repository for all of the arcane, esoteric, downright heretical shit we don’t want people to know about? I mean, I do, but that doesn’t mean a bunch of secretive wizards would!
Well, well, well. Inner Nayos. First, let me say I love the gray-reddish-purple theme. It is appropriately alien and foreboding. Seriously, I love this map's visuals. The event density might actually be too high, so there is definitely a balancing act that ArenaNet needs to manage. When I am doing an event, I sometimes get directed to a different event a few feet away (this seems particularly common with the Free the Kryptis event) while I am still working on completing a separate event. The added Skirmisher events have really only compounded this problem – it is like someone gave the event designer a challenge to have no inch of the map untouched by an orange circle.
Metas
Skywatch had such potential. The numerous zones and the conflicts that caused each zone to differ from their actual Tyrian counterparts has so much potential for an interesting meta, and could have done wonders to demonstrate the sheer danger of creating these fractals, as well as the hubris of Isgarren and the wizards. Why are we stuck fighting generic Karen Kryptis when we could split up into the different zones to fight God-Emperor Balthazar, some sort of horrific chak mutated by Rata Novan experiments, a Jade Mech recreation of Shiro, the king of the Stone Summit dwarves mounted upon a wyvern, and the remains of the Garenhoff Wizard’s Tower reformed into a golem. The possibilities for an awe-inspiring introductory meta were near limitless! But we beat up some boogers and make a key.
Now, that’s really just looking at the narrative aspects of Skywatch’s meta – fear not, the actual gameplay mechanics are equally disappointing. We alternate between rounding up more balls than Liberace hiding all his lovers in his closet, fighting groups of generic legacy enemies, killing a few larger (but still generic) kryptis, before culminating in a thousand players blasting Lyhr’s corneas with the power of heart.
Amnytas tries so, so hard. Narratively, I think it’s fine. We get a massive enemy that menaces over the entire map, and this big boy is properly visually threatening. The first time I entered Amnytas, the meta was active, and I saw Cthulhu’s bastard son taking his abandonment issues out on us. I held off on completing the meta until I completed the initial SOTO story, but I was itching to reenact my favorite hentai scenes.
The fight’s kinda bad. We have to spread out and deal with various threats, slowly closing in on Charles Nourys’ position. But, the encounters are largely the same as what we got in Skywatch, just in different locales – generic kryptis, generic champs, everyone cupping more balls than Freddy Mercury at Live Aid. Chuck himself is, well...many a meme has been made about beating him with yoga. As much as I like going into Downward Dagda pose, the finale with what could have been an awesome, memorable encounter is cheapened to be a large-scale quick-time event. I am gonna assume this was a time constraint, because I do not believe that anyone thought we’d be thrilled waiting to fight this monstrous creature in its current incarnation. We spend some time mindlessly zerging his face, spreading out, mindlessly zerging his face, and counting on our numpad. While this is appropriate for my room temperature in Celsius IQ, I think players would have preferred that Nourys actually plop down onto the platform and become a proper boss. (6 7 8 9 0 7 8 9)
Inner Nayos is difficult to discuss since there are three disparate metas – yes, Zakiros needs the first two metas to be completed to begin, but it is not directly connected in the way that, say, the three lanes of Dragon Stand are connected. Ignaxious’ meta is probably my favorite of the three – we have a lot of movement on the map, with some variance in objectives. Once the community was collectively able to convince people to just bring their Griffon or Skyscale down the chasm and directly to the beacon (instead of 80% of people at launch looping between a minor-beacon and the southern beacon), things progressed quickly. No, cleaning up emotional residue like a therapist moonlighting as a janitor isn’t thrilling, but in both instances it’s quick, snappy, and there is momentum to the next event. Sieging down the gate isn’t great fun, but it gives me a reason to hop on a turtle and hum the TMNT theme. Ignaxious himself is dynamic – other than his bullshit fire AoEs that he can drop while you HAVE to be behind a pillar to not die (so quick death by fire, or even quicker death by a localized nuclear explosion), you can deftly avoid a lot of his attacks, there isn’t too much visual noise, and you can actually sight-read a lot of his attacks. Even in a swarm of equally important Wayfinders, I feel like I am doing something more than gormlessly drooling while mining nostril gold.
Knaebelag, oh Knaebelag. The escorts to begin the fight are fine. Nothing offensive, but also nothing that will get your blood flowing and finally let you kick your Viagra addiction. I am a little baffled that we have two burly, manly-men norn as our NPC chaperones, though I suppose we need to show the Kryptis that Tyrians ain’t lacking in the meat department.
NowBeLag himself is just a dick, though. Too much health, too many breaks from the fight (the 75% and 50% interludes are also just the same thing, which is unfathomably lame), and OH MY GOD I AM SO FAR BEHIND YOU HOW DID YOU SUCK ME IN AND BLOW ME LIKE NANCY REAGAN. I am not sure what it is about this fight, but I always feel like I get hit no matter where I am in relation to AoEs. There have been plenty of times where I make it through the fight unscathed, and other fights where I feel like I am constantly downed. I am not sure how to improve readability with such a big enemy performing numerous large AoEs, but surely something can be refined.
My impressions of the Eparch meta are pretty mixed, and I’ve only done it four times (three wins, one loss w/ a nice cutscene). Between uncertainty as to what are and are not bugs, don’t expect a firm judgment here, just my initial impressions. The pylon destruction is quick, kinda fun, and we get to cosplay Lance Armstrong as we dangle our single explosive ball in the air. Destroying the nodes feels weird, and possibly bugged – taking down the membrane and fireballing them works fine, but on many occasions the node just immediately respawned. That isn’t necessarily an issue since the meta still progresses, but I don’t think it’s working as intended. The fight with a generic kryptis also seems like filler. It doesn’t take too long, so I’ll allow it. The two spire descents feel identically unremarkable – I honestly struggle to recall the differences. After killing Kevin Kryptis, we enter the central spire via portal to fight Eparch, who is in a much crabbier mood than his story-mode counterpart. Now, I am utterly unsure of what this fight is supposed to be – buff yourself with the pools, close rifts, dodge AoEs, stack on Eparch seems to be the intended rhythm, but I cannot for the life of me deal with attacks that seem to blip in and out of existence. The static electricity wave seems to be the worst culprit, but just about every one of Eparch’s attacks has suddenly disappeared from my life like a dad running out to buy cigarettes. Kinda makes it hard to know where to stand, so I just do a jittery side-step that seems to work.
Outro
Guild Wars 2 is one of my favorite games, full stop. It truly pains me to write that I think Secrets of the Obscure contains some of the worst content this series has ever seen. This franchise deserves better, and it is within ArenaNet’s capabilities to do better. I understand that this is a new format for content delivery, but they are also a studio that has delivered superior content for free for over a decade. If the Expansion-Living World Season cycle is not sustainable, and this is the hard limit of what a mini expansion can deliver, I would actually prefer more expensive, meatier expansions every two years instead of the current method. I got my money’s worth, I won’t deny it, but there were times where I was treading dangerously close to, “Man, I actually wish I didn’t spend money on this.” Even in the deepest depths of despair Gyala, I had never come close to regretting any of my expansion purchases. SOTO changed that; with sadness, I must give it a 6/10. If you buy it, get it for the upgrades to the core Guild Wars 2 experience – the actual content it adds is lacking. ArenaNet needs to focus on a more modest but better realized expansion; let's see what next Tuesday brings.

This is the harshest truth I've learned in life. Learning it didn't make me stronger. Learning it made my heart bleed. Acknowledging that if I want to do good, I have to adapt to it. That is what made me strong.

This world is on fire. But most people's minds are so toxic, and their actions are so incendiary that the heat and fumes flourish. Only the light is considered a problem.

If anyone doesn't get it, it's a metaphor.
NOT in a nutshell -
The fire refers to suffering. So many people being harmed and dying from the most easily avoidable things. The heat scorches. The fumes choke. But the light illuminates, and that's supposed to be a good thing. But with this world in its current state, the light is considered bad.
Toxic minds refers mostly to the Dark Tetrad (the four darkest most harmful traits a person can possibly have) Psychopathy, Machiavellism, narcissism, and sadism. But it encompasses all harmful thought processes. Everything that's bad for the world as whole.
To clarify, when I say sadism, I don't mean "Find a masochist and hit them", sadism. That's harmless. It isn't true suffering if the person likes it. BDSM never hurt anyone. People who use the practices in harmful ways hurt people. In the Dark Tetrad, sadism refers to taking pleasure in causing/witnessing true suffering. To someone who's like this, BDSM does nothing. It has to be real. Crying isn't enough when they know the person likes to cry. Bleeding isn't enough if they know person likes to bleed, etc. True suffering cannot be simulated without the placebo effect. If someone gets off on "torturing" people who they know enjoy it, that's kinky sadism. Not true sadism. Don't demonize that person. They're doing nothing wrong. Don't tell them they're not a sadist, because gatekeeping is wrong and they may like the word, but don't rope them in with people who cause true suffering.
To clarify, when I say "narcissism", I don't mean the kind of shit you hear about on social media. That's narcissistic tendencies. There's a significant of difference. Stop throwing that word around like it's nothing. Narcissistic tendencies are very common (that doesn't make them okay. Far from it.) Actual diagnosed textbook narcissism is not. To make it relatable to a lot of people, for example if you step on a cockroach just hard enough to kill it and then throw it in the trash, that's what most people do. But if you stomp it like it's a crawling zombie's head and smear it all over the floor like a rag when you clean the floor, someone might say "That seemed sadistic." and they would have a point. From the outside in it looked more like you hated it than you just wanted to get rid of it. But even if for whatever reason you hated cockroaches that much, yes it was a sadistic thing to do, but that wouldn't make you a sadist. A sadistic tendency is not the same as sadism. Narcissistic tendencies are toxic but they are different from narcissism. This applies to all negative traits. You can do something that (bad type of person) would do, but that doesn't make you one of them. To be one of them you have to be like that all the time.
Okay done clarifying words and continuing with the metaphor.
Still on toxic minds
Most people only care about those they know and like. If they think someone is not in a position to help or harm them, they just don't matter. It doesn't matter if they live or die. And yes, it's true that with enough effort anyone can harm anyone, and anyone can help anyone. But it is often clear when the effort level required would be impractical, and that most people wouldn't want the result enough to try that hard.
Most people don't know what morality is. They never did. And if they do know, they don't care. They still pretend they don't, because being honest would undermine their hateful endeavors. They would have to look at themselves in the mirror and acknowledge who they really are. It would be devastating. The purpose of morality is supposed to be the wellbeing of all living things. But the way it's being used is as a smokescreen to obscure actions being taken out of sheer hatred.
Most people are more upset by things they consider gross or cringe than things that legitimately cause quantifiable harm. All it takes to overlook genocide is "They attacked first. It's a war." War crimes are ignored and forgotten. Most people don't know what a war crime is. Most people don't even know there are rules in all warfare. Including international. They don't know what the Geneva Convention is. And they won't look into it.
But if they see anything that makes them feel uncomfortable enough, they consider it evil. It doesn't matter that there is no harm whatsoever being done to any living thing. All it has to be is freaky. Eat an eyeball or drink blood that came from someone who's already dead and gone (when you didn't kill them) That's evil. Why? How? Don't ask why or how. You shouldn't need to be told. You shouldn't even be able to ask that question. You're evil just for asking. You're evil for even wondering. Evil. Translation 👉 "I just don't like it, and evil is the most intense-sounding negative word I know. I'd rather make someone else feel like a monster than let myself feel awkward."
Incendiary actions represents destructive behavior.
Incendiary refers to fire. Fire doesn't just hit your target. Fire spreads. It causes collateral damage. Collateral damage means harm is being caused to people who have nothing to do with your conflict. That's not fair. You may have a legitimate reason hate a specific individual. There are things a person can do that are bad enough that it would be understandable to say "I don't care what happens to this person. If they died, I wouldn't care". But you should never stop caring about the world. Everyone in this world is connected, and the butterfly effect is indescribably powerful. When people are harmed, they become unhappy. Unhappy people cause harm. When you lash out at an individual, you don't just burn them. You burn everyone they're gonna be interacting with afterward. Technically it will be that person who burns the other people, but effectively it's you. "You are technically right. And that's the best kind of correct." is a belief held by people who care about arguments. Effective truth is more relevant than technical truth almost 100% of the time. That person spreads the fire. That's their decision. It may not have been on purpose, but they did it. But you set them on fire. And the more cruelty you showed them, the more they're sufferong, and the bigger the blaze is. At a certain point a person can't really move without that fire hitting something. There's too much. There wouldn't be any fire to spread if you hadn't done it. And the fire you spread to them probably came from someone else being cruel to you, so they are at fault too, but so are you. You should have snuffed the fire out.
A TRUE protector would consider that to be unacceptable. Inexcusable. A protector has only one true enemy. That enemy is danger itself. A protector understands that nothing in this world is wrong except harm. Whatever nullifies the danger and prevents further harm without collateral damage is the ideal method. No, it's not always that simple. It's usually not. We don't live in candy land. Sometimes you have to cause some harm to prevent a lot of harm. But if there is a method with no collateral damage, THAT'S the one a protector uses. A protector does not hate. A protector loves. A protector only harms if it will prevent a greater degree of harm. A protector PROTECTS.
A true protector understands that protecting the innocent is a higher priority than punishing the guilty. This is because the purpose of punishing the guilty is supposed to be protection of the innocent. It's supposed to be a deterrent so that that person will want to avoid being punished again, so they'll stop what they're doing. When done publicly, it is also a deterrent to people who only care about themselves. It's to show them that their emotional independence doesn't mean they can just do whatever they want, because harming others will lead to them being harmed themselves. And if they haven't done anything wrong yet, they had better continue to not do anything wrong. The purpose of punishment is not spite.
If you harm someone because of your negative feelings toward them (regardless of how legitimate your feelings are, or what they did to make you feel that way) that is spite. If it stops them from doing something harmful (to a living thing), that's protection. But if the only benefit that came from that harm is that it felt satisfying, you did not protect anyone. That was out of self-interest. You are not a protector. You are spiteful. Now, I'm no saint, and imo there are contexts where spite is understandable. Even excusable. But it's important to call things what they are. You can tell yourself that the situation warranted spite, but don't tell yourself you were being protective. That was for you. Nobody else.
Back to the metaphor.
Heat is the symptoms of the incendiary behavior. It's covered in the explanation of incendiary.
Fumes are the symptoms of the toxic minds. Like the heat, already explained.
Those two things are what should be considered the bad parts of the fire that's burning the world. This next part is what's being treated as the bad part.
THE LIGHT is family- UNfriendly truths. A family-unfriendly truth is knowledge born from tragedy that is bulletproof to a true protector, because they prioritize safety among everything else. But there are very few true protectors in this world. What most people call protection is just a facade. It's a charade. It's fake. It's how they get their conscience to take a smoke break at just the right moment for them to cause massive collateral damage out of sheer hatred, then get back to business as usual before the cigarette's out, and act like nothing happened.
To everyone else, THE LIGHT, these truths, are the worst thing in the world. They are completely unapproachable. They cannot even be looked at. Because they're just too upsetting to bear. A person would be putting themselves in harm's way just by acknowledging that any of it has merit. That's more trouble than most people are willing to go to to solve a problem that's society-wide and not exclusively their own. Everyone has their own people to worry about. Groups smaller than society, like their family. And like I said, fire spreads.
So if one person dares to come out of the dark and say "Are we SURE that this is evil? And even if it is, are we SURE we're handling this the right way? How much collateral damage are we causing? Are we only destroying the evil, or are we also destroying all the ground it touches? What if we're destroying the ground but not the evil? Do any of us even know how much evil we've destroyed? Or even how much there is? What the fuck are we doing??"
That person might get set on fire. And who's gonna be near them when they go home? The people they care about more than society. They're not being heartless by looking the other way. They're just being practical. If someone throws a brick at your car, you don't shield it with your baby. That's why most people won't speak up. Society is considered important to an extent to all people, but priorities must be kept in order. As long as there's that much risk in it, keep your head down. But if everyone who cared stepped into the light all at once, they'd find out that their ideas are not so weird. That the popular stuff they've wanted to call out is actually not very popular at all.
So yes, family unfriendly truths can be horrifically disgusting. But ya know what??? Nausea's not death. Our stomach is not our heart. Sometimes you need some pretty disgusting information to solve a disgusting problem. And if you can't even withstand THAT much discomfort yourself, forget about protecting anyone else. Stay in the shadows.
Hating is easier than asking. Harming is easier than understanding. The world is cruel and life is hard, and we can each only withstand so much. So sometimes doing what's easy is all we can manage. That's not evil. It's just a limitation of ability. There are more important things in the world than ability. Be that as it may, I'll tell you where I stand. (Bear in mind this is a new policy. Like right now new. If someone Scooby-Doo's me, my post/comment history will show what looks like hypocrisy)
From now on, (Friday, May 31st, 2024) I refuse to hate, and I refuse to harm. I have the best partner in the world by my side. That person is this world's redemption, and as long as I have that person, I'm indestructible. I will never retaliate against a personal attack again, as long as it is only personal. Because I know exactly who I am, and I love who I am. I am not insecure. I am unanimously loved among people who have enough information to make educated judgment. If I'm loved by those who know me, I shouldn't need to be liked by those who don't. Starting today, I no longer do. I am fulfilled. I am at peace. I am indestructible.
I am indestructible, but the world is on fire. If someone displays ideology that's causing collateral damage, I will attack the ideology. Not the person. And I won't be more impolite than I need to. Because no matter how bad that person is when they're doing that to me, if I make them even more unhappy, that fire will spread. It will spread to people who are more vulnerable than me. People who have done nothing to me. I'm never gonna contribute to this problem again.

Anne Dior Kashaut arrives wrapped in a suit jacket that reflects the pattern of a casino poker table, with a mini dress made out of poker chips. She wears a long, flowing blonde wig, and stomps the stage with a fire in her eyes.
“I love this take.” Lupe whispers to Rachelle.
Mrs. Vicki Anderson spins onto the main stage in a 1920s Flapper Look, wearing a headband and fringe mini dress. Dancing around the stage doing the foxtrot, Vicki kicks her feet around with a smile, excitedly moving.
Keep on dancing… poorly!
Rachelle chuckles.
Ethan Angel-Eye enters the stage wearing an Apache Beaded warrior look- with feather and fringe, as he slowly moves through the stage, his eyes transfixed on the judges. As he arrives at the end of the stage, he tears his outfit apart- revealing a boring business suit, as he stomps off the stage serving executive male.
Ethan Angel-Eye: “This is a look for my Native class traitors, men who sell their culture to become ‘The Man’. I hope you know that selling out your communities to the white men will never fulfill you like your culture does.”
Molly Moppit jumps onto the main stage in a Poker Attendant look, dressed in a suit jacket, white shirt and flared pants, she holds a bag full of poker chips that she counts as she walks through the stage. As she makes her way to the end, Molly drops her bag- picking it up as thousands of ‘MoDollars’ pour out of her pants.
“Where’s the chips…” Floss looks around suspiciously. “They’ve gone from her hand. GET HER!”
Carly Shay Jepsen arrives straight out of a James Bond film! Wearing a suit that is probably a few centimeters too small for her, Carly holds a martini glass in her hand, and pads down her massive, non-lace front wig with a smile.
Casino… Royale indeed.
Francesca La Fataliá struts out in a deep purple silk dress, her hair spun into black buns with multiple layers of gold littered throughout it. She wears a fur coat, carrying a bunch of faux ‘Euros’ as she counts her money, walking through the stage.
“She’s spending MONEY, honey.” Lupe smiles.
Twirling onto the stage, Lady Gag arrives serving her best ‘Poker Face’- with an exact recreation of Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’ music video, with the glittering mask, a black jumpsuit and studded look as she stomps the main stage.

“Gaga…” Rachelle sighs.
Niagara Halls arrives in a gold lace dress, her hair serving bundle upon bundle of scarlet red hair, as she spins onto the main stage with an excited flair, touching her expensive dress with a smirk on her face, purring around.
“Category is GOLD.” Floss snaps her fingers.
Wearing a backless aubergine purple slink dress, with a diamond end to the gown, as Shayla Moon is giving her best ‘Vesper Lynd’ dress up, wearing a short black wig as she stalks through the stage, a pistol in her hand.
“This is so good!” Lupe snaps her fingers. “Perra.”
Nakomis Lotus arrives dressed an Egyptian Queen, serving Cleopatra realness with a beaded wig and a literally Pyramid- the Luxor as her dress, she floats around the main stage with a , walking like an Egyptian.
I wonder which hotel she’s at!
Lokii steps onto the runway in a boxy slot machine costume, with the slots showcasing a triple Seven! Lokii spins down the runway, revealing that “Slut Machine” has been written just above a small hole in the back of the machine.
“Cute.” Lupe smiles.
HerShe Kiss enters the stage in a massive white, red and black Elizabethan era ballgown, with bright red hair with her face painted white like she’s the literal Queen of Hearts, as she holds a card- a Queen of Hearts with the actual version of herself.
“OFF WITH RACHELLE’S HEAD!” Floss says in a british accent.
Rachelle gasps.
Shiseido Red is a vision, her look at first glance, entirely compiled gold coin- wearing a structure that is similar to a slot machine, with coins pooling out of her head, flowing down to the ‘bottom’ of the outfit. Suddenly, the handle moves down and Shiseido hits the ‘Jackpot’- with confetti bursting from her outfit.
She’s getting lucky tonight.

“Well, I kinda HATE this.” Niagara says, picking up her drink, before sitting down on the seats in a dramatic fashion, puffing her lips out.
“Girl.” Carly laughs. “What’s going on?”
Niagara bursts into tears.
Carly, Francesca and Nakomis all look deeply confused.
“I really just- I know I fucked up, and honestly, it’s just lame, and I really do want this. My titles- I don’t have many, if we’re being honest..” Niagara starts.
“Oh, this makes sense.” Nakomis nods, whispering under her breath.
“I was focused on me planning, executing and like, like, like DELIVERING, you know?” Niagara sighs. “And I wanted to lead, and I know I VOUCHED for it, like-” Niagara rolls her eyes, looking at Francesca. “Whatever.”
“I-” Francesca starts.
“I just want to prove myself.” Niagara says, more tears beginning to fall. “I’m not ugly and weird and maybe they want that after a pretty girl like Nymphe winning-”
Carly covers her mouth in an effort to stop herself from laughing.
Carly Shay Jepsen: “GIRL, she’s so fucking FUNNY!”
“But you know what? I don’t want to be ugly. I want to be pretty and I WANT this! I want it, you know?! AHH!” Niagara cries, sobbing into a pillow.
“Niagara, you need to stop with the crying.” Francesca rips the pillow away from her face. “You did a good job this week.”
“Wait, what?” Niagara says, confused as she wipes a tear with her long, blue nails.
“I do actually believe you worked hard, and led our team to a victory, of sorts. We all performed well- and your work ethic is something that surprised me. Clearly, you want this, and we can all see it. Well certainly, I do believe that.” Francesca says. “And I’m almost always right.”
Carly smiles. “Honestly, yeah, girl. You really helped out.”
“I actually do not believe myself to be a performer.” Nakomis says. “Not to reveal my weak spots!” Nakomis jokes. “But you made us come together, and put something solid.”
“I-” Niagara smiles. “Do you guys really think so?”
“Yes.” Francesca nods. “Don’t be annoying about this again.”
Niagara smiles, before transitioning into a smirk. “God, I'm such a STAR.”
The others laugh, as Francesca rolls her eyes lovingly.

“Hello.” Ethan nods.
“I loved you.” Lupe smiles. “What a character you are!”
“I am not a character.” Ethan says gruffly. “I am me.”
“Well…” Lupe smiles awkwardly. “You performed really well. This look, darling, it had a nice message, a good idea, and I believe you worked well.”
“I do agree-” Rachelle starts. “However, you did get outshined by others, at times.”
Ethan nods.
“Why didn’t you pick the front and center role?”
“I believed i’d stand out regardless, and I had the capability to do so.” Ethan adds.
“In this case… you let others stand out- moreover, Ms Moon.” Rachelle says.
Ethan looks annoyed.
Ethan Angel-Eye: “I’ve made a misstep. I am not pleased.”
HOWEVER… you did lead a team to a really solid performance. I think you should be proud of that?
Ethan nods.
“Agreed. This is still you work to get here, regardless- and that’s worth celebrating.” Rachelle adds.

“WOW.” Floss smiles. “Tell me, then- you got a big role, opening the performance. Did you ask for the role?”
“Yes I did.” Shayla grins. “For me, it’s important to see big girls like us, showing we can do… the same things Miss Gag can do.”
Lady Gag eyes Shayla.
“What do you mean by US big girls?” Floss says, a glint in her eye.
The two chuckle.
“Baby, I am so happy you said that. And you did that. Because damn, you fucking KILLED IT!” Floss beams.
Shayla looks proudly.

I really enjoyed the look, but on the main stage, you were the weakest of your group. You struggled in the choreo space- I don’t think you were actually BAD. You were just in a strong, strong group where everyone performed and ultimately, you were the weakest link in your group.
“I get that.” HerShe nods. “I do-” HerShe stops herself. “Nevermind.”
Shayla, Lady Gag and Ethan all look at HerShe.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate.” HerShe says, frowning.
“Say it.” Ethan growls.
“I do believe Ethan’s dictatorial attitude limited my abilities. I asked for adjustments- he didn’t support that. It hindered me.” HerShe says.
“Let me make this clear.” Ethan steps forward. “HerShe failed on the basis of her abilities. I believe I am- and my team are collectively in the top. She was the weakest link- but collectively, we worked well. I lead a team to victory.”
HerShe looks uncomfortable.
“Lady Gag. Did I lead you well?” Ethan turns.
“I mean, yes-”
“Yes.” Ethan says. “Shayla?”
“...Yes.” Shayla says.
“Good. Moving onto Lady Gag critiques.” Ethan says, cutting forward.

HerShe looks as if she wants to close into herself.

“Hot.” Lady Gag smiles.

“I wish you did something different, for this runway, though?” Lupe says. “To me, there was a lot more you could do… than Lady Gaga.”
“She’s wording it nicely, I won’t.” Rachelle starts. “I want to see more than Gaga. In fact, I need it. Your performance was good, I won’t lie. But I keep only seeing Gaga. I need Gag.”
“Well, Lady Gaga is Lady Gag.”
“If your brand is only another person, you won’t get far here.” Rachelle says, annoyed. “Show more, or go home.”
Lady Gag purses her lips.
Lady Gag: “Ok, bitch.”
Moving onto team…
“Me.” Molly puts her hand up.
“Die by the sword…” Shiseido whispers, tindering her breath.
Well, it was a shame to see, Molly.
Molly nods.
You not only struggled, but you lead a really poor performance, to be quite transparent.
“100%.” Molly says, nodding again.
The lack of dance skill was on show, and for me, you tried to cover it up with comedy…
“I tried, so hard.” Molly laughs.
“It wasn’t enough..” Rachelle frowns. “You have a FUN presence- but sometimes we don’t need to be funny- and kooky, and play up a shtick. I feel like- I know you have potential. But I need you to push yourself- and I see someone also being real here.”
“For sure.” Molly says. “I’m frustrated, but I want to be here.”
“Keep the fire. You don’t always have to be funny though, boo.” Floss looks at Molly. “Sometimes you need to just… SERVE.” Floss snaps her fingers.
“Will do just for you mama.” Molly blows a kiss.

“Hello, judges!” Anne smiles.
“First, wow- you’re gorgeous, baby!” Lupe cheers.
“Oh, Lupe- Eres una inspiración, una luz, un faro de arrastre. Gracias.” Anne says with a bright smile.
“Oh…” Lupe blushes. “Thank you. You did lovely.”
“The Spanish was off.” Shayla whispers to Lokii.
“It was charming- you were a clear highlight in the group, and yes- it is a more literal take on the runway, but wow, did you deliver it!” Lupe looks excited. “Your drag is exciting. Keep shining.”
“I plan to!” Anne grins with an excessive smile.
Shiseido.
Shiseido looks on with pride.
“First of all, this look-” Rachelle shakes her head. “Insane levels of artistry.”
“Thank you. Not everyone can say they can do this.” Shiseido purses her lips.
“You have showcased something insane. This look is next level.” Rachelle says, looking at the outfit. “However… your dance performance was beyond poor.”
Shiseido looks at Rachelle.
“We’re not all spring chickens, and that’s okay- I see experience in your drag, clearly with your looks. But you were not good at all this week. Really- the dance was on show, and it wasn’t good. You actually looked in your head.”
“Mhm.” Shiseido says, looking displeased.
“I wanted to see so much more. But what I got- it was not great.” Rachelle sighs. “And an older queen can deliver. You don't need to move wildly. But it’s about clean, effective movements. That’s what it is.”
“Okay.” Shiseido responds.
Molly Moppit: “Red is pissed, you can tell. She’s mean mugging these judges.”
Shiseido looks straight ahead.

“Hi.” Lokii waves.
You failed to stand out. And for others here, I’ll say that’s a bad thing.
“Mhm.” Lokii nods.
But in this group, you were lucky. Because you fumbled somehow into the role of 4th worst. Or second best.
“Okay!” Lokii chuckles.
“You are cute.” Floss notes. “But, babe- I want a bit more than that. I want to be like- “Damn, yes that is the LOKII brand.” Floss looks at Lokii. “I do not know that yet.”
“Thank you.” Lokii says.
Shayla Moon: “I see Lokii is quite similar to me. But there’s a lack of confidence- experience? That’s a shame, because I think she’s cool!”

Vicki curtseys.
“Now, you did fail to stand out, Vicki- and then you did.” Rachelle raises an eyebrow. “You almost tripped.”
“I did, ahh!” Vicki gulps.
“I noticed.” Rachelle says, shaking her head. “Thus far, I am wanting a bit more from you. You’re cute, but I want what makes you stand out. What makes you different, Vicki?”
“I’m here to make the people smile, perform and lead with my heart.” Vicki grins.

HerShe Kiss: “I actually admire Molly. As a leader, she owned her faults. And now, no bullshit- she’s learning her words.”
The top and bottom racers all sit down, bar Molly, no one uttering a further word.
“…So, how does everyone feel?” Vicki says, trying to cut the tension. “I don’t feel amazing!”
“I don’t feel good, obviously, Vicki.” Shisedo starts. “If you can’t read the damned room. I don’t think much of us are.”
“I actually feel great.” Shayla laughs, trying to cut the tension.
“Same.” Lady Gag smirks, turning to Anne. “You also ate girl.”

“Let her sulk, like a child.” Anne says, before turning to whisper in Gag’s ear. “Honestly, I think Niagara has a good work ethic. She sews. Perhaps she can help us out in future? Maybe we can be friends with her? Or…” Anne says sarcastically. “Frieeeends…”
“Niagara BABE! Come sit with us!” Lady Gag waves Niagara over, as Niagara looks surprised.
Francesca raises her eyebrow as Niagara excitedly walks over.

“Now, HerShe- I must ask, are you okay?” Vicki frowns. “I know Ethan went quite tough on you..”

“Did I miss a drag race herstory moment?” Nakomis frowns. “Nooooo!”
“It was just- I was trying to be open, and honest on the main stage. Ethan attacked me, verbally. At least it felt that way.” HerShe sighs. “But, I’ve heard worse. I must go forward. I must move forward.”
The others nod.
“What about you, Vicki?” HerShe asks. “I know the critiques were rough…”
“I love my drag.” Vicki smiles. “I love what I do. I love this art form. And if we struggle, that’s okay! I am still proud of myself.”
“That’s so sweet.” Nakomis looks at Vicki.

“I honestly do think, they’re not missing a chance for that Shisedo versus Molly Beef. You can cut that tension with a butter knife. You’ll be fine, girl.” HerShe says.
“I hope so.” Vicki nods.

This is a continuation from my 2024 Q1 post here 'You don't need big tech for big gains'.
Most of my largest positions still remain. However, the allocations have changed. My value investing style is more fluid than the "buy and hold excellent companies' late Buffett strategy, and more akin to Burry's style which has more fluidity to it. I don't look for excellent companies, I look for excellent deals. Not cigar bud investing - but searching to maximize risk/reward.
I'm up +22.29% YTD now (+55.23% LTM). Still holding no tech. Because of the over exuberance of the market, my portfolio has become a bit more bearish. BTI is now one of my top positions. I sold STLA and VLO near the top. I sold PRG, and I sold CROX at about $130. I replaced those positions with TAC, QFIN, PERI, and BP.
Here's my current portfolio.
I'll write briefly about my top 5 positions:

• BTI (15.00%)

My reasoning for buying remains the same. Cigarettes are on a decline, but at a snails pace. However, the growth of alternative tobacco products more than makes up for it. BTI is trading at around ~5 p/fcf, and they return a ton of value back to shareholders. I believe the market has overestimated the revenue decline, and underestimated alternative tobacco products. Tobacco is also a consumer staple, which provides defensive qualities.

• BWMX (15.00%)

A multi-level-marketer based in Mexico. At this point you can tell that I'm not exactly a morally sound investor. MLMs don't quite work anymore in the US, however they're alive and well in Mexico. Betterware made an acquisition recently of Jafra (it was a stale fragrance MLM) and they turned it around because they're real experts in MLMs. Their US revenue isn't doing too well, but their Mexico revenue (where most of their business is) is still growing. They have a ROIC of ~26%, and they're trading at around ~4.6 p/fcf.

• TAC (12.25%)

Previously, I was uninterested in investing in Canadian companies, because our economy is struggling. Transalta is the primary electricity provider in Alberta. They're 50% oil, 50% green energy (their green energy is non-solar, which I like). Alberta is the fastest growing province in Canada right now, because mass immigration and people moving away from Ontario. That, along with this becoming the being the hottest year on record with increase electricity usage, sweetens the deal. They're trading at around ~5.60 p/fcf, have strong buybacks and a dividend. Management has really turned this company around. I managed to buy into this one at the very bottom.

• NXST (10.75%)

A US broadcasting company that does well during election years. Despite it being an election year, I still consider it a buy. This company has one of the strongest EPS for a mid-cap. They perform a ton of share buybacks. About 77% of their FCF is returned to share holders. I decreased my position here, because I previously made some miscalculations (happens as a retail trader..).

• UVE (10.75%)

As I wrote in my previous post, this company is undervalued because it's a property and casualty insurer in Florida with a fairly large market share - and Florida has the highest rate of fraudulent insurance claims, along with their natural disasters. Many insurers have left Florida because of this, and some have gone under. However, Florida has been working on passing bills that are expected to reduce fraudulent claims. And UVE has been around since 1990, so they're resilient. With their FCF smoothed out they're trading at around ~2.20 p/fcf. At this price they're trading as if they're going bankrupt soon.

I'm back in China with QFIN. The sentiment for China comes and goes, but I'm more bullish about this company in particular rather than the Chinese stock market itself. I think it's wise to have a % in China when interest rates start going down in the US, and I'll probably add another Chinese company in Q3.
I'm still holding gold. I would like to up my position, however there's a lot of value out there IMO, and I'd rather hold more in businesses instead. I plan on adding more gold in Q3 as I think it will do well when interest rates go down, and as market exuberance causes investors to become more and more cautious.

What can I do to help my step sons?
This is a long one but please read to the end. My step sons in their late twenties have a controlling & abusive Mom & step Dad. When the boys were 4 & 5 she cheated on my husband with her husband now. When she left she didn’t take the boys. Some how do to the failing court system she got the boys back. She kept them from my husband for about 5 years. We took her to court numerous times& she was always found in contempt but never was punished, once again failed court system!! But you can bet your sweet ass she was at court house if he missed a week of child support! When the boys became late teenagers they come to house on their own free will. They told us how they was sent to their rooms & threatened with a belt if they tried to see my husband when he went to pick them up. Sometimes even hit with belt for protesting they wanted their Dad. Growing up they was beat with belts, dog leases & forced to fight each other till they drew blood. Was fed melatonin all the time to where the youngest boy has insomnia. Scared to go sleep because he feels he isn’t in control & wont wake up. So much more but to much to mention. When boys was about out of high school they became foster parents. Ended up pushing boys out of their rooms & eventually out of house to take these kids in. She started with foster care & Ending up adopting 5 kids that have mental, emotional & sexual abuse. The reason why is because she got paid more with kids with above problems. These kids have had the worse of the worse! When my oldest stepson stood up for the adopted kids & how they was being abused his step Dad held a gun to his head, not once but 3 different occasions. Mom took up for step Dad & said he shouldn’t have pissed the step Dad off. It was tradition in step dad house when they bring a new girlfriend to house he was to smack girlfriends asses & Mom think this is ok. Step Dad has sent numerous texts & voice mails he hopes they die of cancer or get hurt at work & fall out of bucket truck & their arms get cut off. This effects the youngest boy the most because he always feels he is dying of some medical problem because she would always take them to er for stupid stuff because she would tell them she thought they was dying & would always tell them the worst case. Come to find out she had Afleck insurance & she would get a check every time they went. Both boys have mental, emotional problems. Both boys are grown now & have daughters of their own. They use to let their daughters go see them & she would only watch them if they paid her $75 a day & supplied their food which meant food for all the kids because they felt bad if they didn’t send enough for all. Well, shit has hit the fan & girls are no longer allowed to go there. Come to find out both girls have been showed things by the adopted boy asked them to touch it & Mom blew it off & said not to tell their parents. Well they did & there is so much sickening shit that happens at this house I can’t even begin to tell it all!! One is they allow the oldest boy to watch porn (dad watches it with him at times) sniff his sisters underwear & jack off. They brag about it also. Husband stopped in a pawn shop to look at the guns. Step Dad was in their picking up his pawned stuff & one of theadopted kid asked what the red laser was on top of the gun? Step dad put laser mark on boy between his eyes & says So I can have a pefect shot & pulled trigger. Pawn shop told him to get his shit & to never come back. Pawn shop called law they took statements including my husbands. Never heard anymore about it except he barred from pawn shop. They think this is normal!! She was beating the oldest daughter with a broom & the handle broke & hit her in the forehead & she had to get stitches. Made her lie to hospital that her brother did it or she would get worse when she got home. Adopted daughter asked for help through the school & cps showed up at their house & she had her lie again. She is now home schooled because they can’t trust her!! Mom has taken out a $10,000 loan on one of the boys when he became an adult through the internet & had cell phones in their name. Didn’t find out till he went to get a car loan. The Mom has contacted the boys friends numerous time some she didn’t even know to ask for money for cigarettes or ask if they knew anyone she trade food stamps with. Both Mom & her Mom (their grandma) have claimed them & their daughters to get help with heat & food stamps. Now onto Grandbabies. The mom of the Grandbabies are pieces of shit & both boys have full custody. They have moved on & have beautiful wives with good family & family values. Both Grandbabies are in counseling & on medication because come to find out during therapy Grandma & Grandpa have done the same to them they have done to my stepsons & adopted kids. The center where the girls go for therapy have also reported to the courts that my grand babies should not have visitation with their mothers & court agreed. I might add the 5 adopted kids age from 12 down to 3. Neither of them work & they are on any kind of assistance they can get. Beg every year for help with Christmas beg & plead for help with to get them vans etc. always getting help with electric & water etc. The Mom is literally bat shit crazy!! She has even got a hold of the granddaughters real Mom’s to see if they can get visitation right so she could see the granddaughters. I might add one of the Mothers are hooked on drugs really bad & the other Mom let her boyfriend beat the daughter till she was black & blue & didn’t report it. Son found it when he picked his daughter up. The boyfriend got some time & the Mom was under house arrest & probation for awhile. It blows my mind that she would ever want to put those babies back in that position. She has been trespassed from one of the schools that my Granddaughter goes to for throwing a fit & cussing over where my granddaughter sits. Repeatedly using the f-word in front of students, parents & teachers. The law had to be called. During testing she has to sit alone so she isn’t distracted or distract the other students. She is also trespassed from both of the boys home & one daughter in law has a restraining order against her because she tried to break into house to get Granddaughter. Wasn’t two weeks after that she tried to break into the other son’s house to take the other Granddaughter. None of the boys or their wives have anything to do with any of them. She leaves the one son alone because of restraning order but she is constantly calling the other boy or posting all kinds of stuff on social media. Like this could be her full time job. The youngest doesn’t have a restraint order yet because I believe he doesn’t want to face her in court. If she could get paid for all the harassment she would be a millionaire by now!! The boys have had to block & change their numbers thousands of time because of her. She has even got her Mom ( the boys grandma) to get involved. The youngest tried to let Grandma get involved & at Christmas he told Grandma she could come see them but not to bring Mom & low & behold she brought Mom. They was pissed so now Grandma isn’t allowed either. They are also pissed at Grandma because she knew what the Mom & step dad did but didn’t do anything about it. Grandma & Mom live next to each other & share the front yard. Boys would go over to grandmas but they did nothing to protect them!! Youngest boy just had a new baby daughter & she is freaking going crazy calling. Non stop with calling, messaging social media. It affects the youngest boy something awful!! He started having panic attacks & debilitating depression because of the things they put him through & still do to this day! Both Boys have finally seen how a real family is supposed to be & act from their wives side & their Dad & I. They asked me (step Mom) why I couldn’t be their Mom & Im the Mom they should have had. I watched the Grandbabies with no strings attached & both will call & have heart to heart conversations with me on some things they don’t understand & how to handle situations. We have gone on vacations together & I even helped with wedding & making sure my daughter in law made it to prenatal appointments if he couldn’t. Have been told they don’t mind going out with us because we don’t scream & holler & embarrass them. I guess I needed to vent but I just feel so sorry for them & I guess I’m asking what else I can do for them to make their situation better. Anyone got any advice? My husband says it her karma for all the shit she put the boys through & for keeping boys away from him. I might add there so so so much more to this story. There is no way I could even begin to list it all. I just feel re is more I can do but I don’t know what.
