2024.06.02 05:40 throwaway19473lol Should I take my cat to the vet?

Hi everyone, I have a 4 year old female tabby. She is showing signs of stress related UTI. About a year ago she was peeing on my bed, in the sink, in small amounts so I Immediately took her to the vet. $400 something dollars later her vet tells me her urinalysis came back perfect and her blood is showing that she’s in good health. We are talking about home life, I tell him how our other cat (newer to home at the time, not my cat) is slightly bullying her. (Nothing serious, but still not good) We come to conclusion she is anxious and stressed, causing her peeing. I set up two new boxes in the house and limited their interactions, and had her closed in my room more often. This helped within days. Flash forward to two weeks ago, I notice her going to her box multiple times, so I’m watching her and it’s small amounts of pee frequently. It’s pretty late but I ran out to PetSmart and grabbed Homeo Pet UTI, and squeeze treats to mix in. I gave her first nightly dose that night and kept an eye on her, and gave her her doses the next day. Within that day she was back to normal. No frequent peeing, and no small amounts of pee. I stopped giving her the Homeo pet since she seemed cleared up, and randomly yesterday she was back in the box barley peeing. I immediately put her in my room, gave her a brand new box with new litter, bought her a water fountain, and a new Feliway plugin (never tried), and started her back on Homeo pet. (I also switched her to Tiki Cat After Dark wet, and Tiki cat Indoor health dry, as I found how horrible Blue Buffalo is, and BB is all she’s ever had before unfortunately.) (( Yes I did mix them until she was used to new food)) As of today she seems much better again. She is eating, drinking, playing like normal. She is not going to the bathroom frequently, but when she is it’s more pee then before but still a smaller amount then normal. I know how serious it can be, which is why I’m so worried. But I also cannot afford another $400 vet bill again if they’re just gonna tell me it’s stress. I will get Care Credit if needed, I just want opinions. I also want to state there is no dramatic change in the house, my brother and is 1 year old daughter we’re over that same night she started showing symptoms and I know she gets very stressed with small children. There are also Strays that spray on my house that stresses her out as well. Her and the other cat who’s also female and now 2, coexist but don’t love each other, and get into small fights but nothing serious. Sorry for the novel, just want to give as much info as I can.

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

SCALE OF ONLINE HARM TO CHILDREN REVEALED IN GLOBAL STUDY

More than 300 million children a year are victims of online sexual exploitation and abuse, research indicates. Pupils in every classroom, in every school, in every country are victims of this hidden pandemic, according to researchers who have conducted the first global estimate of the scale of the crisis. The statistics, from the Childlight Global Child Safety Institute at the University of Edinburgh, amount to a clear and present danger to the world’s children, according to the crime agency Interpol. PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

One hundred years ago, in the 1924 Paris Olympics, American Johnny Weissmuller won the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 59 seconds. Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. Swimming times across the board have become much faster over the past century, a result of several factors, including innovations

BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

CYBERFLASHING IS A FORM OF GENDERED SEXUAL VIOLENCE THAT MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Sexting—sending sexually suggestive or explicit messages and images—is now a widespread practice, and can be a healthy way to express and explore sexuality. However, there is a need to distinguish between consensual sexting and forms of sexual harassment like cyberflashing. Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. It is facilitated through communications technologies including text, AirDrop and social media applications like Snapchat and Tinder. Similar to flashing—when a person unexpectedly and deliberately “flashes” their genitals to others—that occurs in

The process by which people shift from a prejudicial stance to one of relative acceptance is a key innovation of the study. Guided by trained facilitators, critical dialogues reflect illustrations depicting different gender roles and sexual identities. The images

RELIEVING A FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

If you dread public speaking you are not alone. It is a leading social phobia, one that can cause a state of anxiety that reduces otherwise articulate people to nervous incoherence. A strong fear of public speaking is known as glossophobia. Academic studies estimate it affects 20% of the population, but depending on the sample and methodology, the figure could be as high as 40%. As American writer and humourist Mark Twain said, “There are two types of speakers: Those who get nervous and those who are liars.” But help

HOW SOME PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE MARKETING TECH AND AI SOLUTIONS

How do universities and colleges decide who to admit? Given the earnings advantage of a post-secondary degree both globally and in Canada, this is an important social mobility question. While the answer varies from one institution to the next, most focus on education criteria like exam scores and grades. However, Canada’s new intake cap on study permit applications puts increased pressure on Canadian institutions to also consider immigration criteria when admitting international undergraduate students. This is just the latest example of immigration’s growing influence on the societal roles of Canadian

2024.06.02 03:22 jacksalssome [Guide] Replacing your Ender 5 Plus stock board with the BTT Mini E3 V3, while keeping the original touchscreen and BL Touch

This god damn update was so friggen frustrating, any only 60% of that was self sabotage. I'v spent literally 20 hours on this.
Why do this?
I wanted to take advantage of a few features that a 32bit board provides, but also didn’t want to drop a load of money on a board and screen, I also like Marlin.
You might also want to look at the Fly-E3-Pro-v3 and the Mellow FLY 4.3, which should be a drop in replacement for the stock screen.
Needed parts:
Highly Suggested parts:
At least 4 dupoint to dupoint wire connectors, female ends.
Suggested parts:
Flashing new firmware to the touchscreen
First were going to flash the touchscreen with firmware that will work with the Mini E3, we’ll be using InsanityAutomation’s amazing fork of Marlin, at this time the (2.0bleeding branch doesn’t compile)
Download “latest release” from “https://github.com/Desuuuu/DGUS-reloaded/wiki/Flashing-the-firmware”
1) Extract File the file 2) Insert micro SD card 3) Format it as FAT32 with 4k blocks 4) Copy DWIN_SET into the freshly formatted mSD card 5) Power off your printer 6) Insert the mSD card into the screen of the printer.
7) Power the printer on 8) Wait about 30 seconds as the screen flashes, when it cycles through the pictures and says END!, then its done. 9) Power off the 3D Printer & Eject the mSD card. 10) Power it on to ensure the correct screen firmware flashed, it wont work for now.
Rewiring the touchscreen
Now you can swap out the boards and plug in all connectors, except the touchscreen and bl touch.
We will use the TFT pins on the Mini E3, NOT the EXP connector. Here is a pinout, TFT is at the bottom, actual pins are near the middle of the board: https://docs.vorondesign.com/build/electrical/images/miniE3-v30-pinout.png
Touchscreen to BTT Mini E3 V3
GND to GND TX2 to RX2 RX2 to TX2 5V to +5V
RX NEEDS TO GO TO TX, transmission needs to be received, hence RX,TX.
To connect to the BTT board you have a few options:
  • Use 4 female to female Dupont connectors
  • Create a new cable with a JST XH 6x1 connector on the touchscreen side and a 5x1 Dupont (or 4 individual connectors), so you don't have extra wires.
  • Cut off the connector on the touchscreen size and crimp a 5x1 Dupont connector or use 4 individual Dupont connectors.
Rewiring the BL Touch
Time to Configure Firmware:
Show the Bootscreen:

You need to put the number of your temp sensor instead of #, the stock ones are 1 and 1
#define TEMP_SENSOR_0 # #define TEMP_SENSOR_BED #
Set max Temp, 260 if its stock, 280-315 if all metal hotend

2024.06.02 01:09 throwaway136942048 My(21M) girlfriend (21F) and i are breaking up and im not trying to fix it?

Hello everyone, as the title says me and my (21M) girlfriend (21F) are fighting consistently and things aren’t looking good.
This is my first time posting anything on reddit so i’m gonna try my best to give maximum detail and context. I’ve been with my girlfriend for 2 years and known her for 8, weeks were highschool friends and were in the same class since junior year, for context, Mia had alot of issues at home due to her divorced parents wich made her kind of an outcast and it was hard for her to open up to people, but i always tried to help with wht i can as much as i can. Years later, after highschool we lost contact and didnt hang out much, until we decided to meet and catch up one day and we started flirting and hanging out more until we grew closer and became more than friends eventually.
To be completely honest at first it was just casual for me (or for both i would say), nothing too serious we just passing time and seeing if it were going anywhere more than casual, after a few months we grew more attached and had so many things in common and i started having feelings for her, thats when one day, i was scrolling on facebook and saw a random post of a video about a guy flirting with a girl in a specific way, down in the comments was Mia tagging a guy and saying « so that’s where u took it from » and him liking and replying to her, more surprisingly their profile pictures were matching (those kind of cheezy anime couple pictures where the guy and girl take a half of the picture each), when i confronted her about it she told me he was just a friend and i should see it as i would see her female friends, they’re just friends and nothing more. What hurt me most about it is that she would have never suggested we do something like that because since we had a lot of common friends we should keep it secret between us, to wich i agreed because i prefere to keep my intimacy to myself.
A year goes by and one day as we were hanging out, her phone kept blowing up with calls and messages, i asked her whats happening and went to grab her phone, she then got defensive and tried to take back her phone but i insisted she unlocks it and when she did, there it was her messenger discussion with the previous guy with her nicknaming him « my corean man » and him calling her baby and asking why she isnt replying, it seemed she was ghosting him for a few weeks and he kept calling and messaging her, you can imagine my reaction after finding that and i’ll spare you the details of the fight, but her argument was in a nutshell, that she is wrong and is sorry for doing that, and that it was nothing and is something stupid she did and will never happen again. To my stupidity i forgave her and things went back to how they were, but not quite the same. I was hurt and felt betrayed and was not ready to trust her fully again, but was willing to give her a chance to prove me that she really is sorry and is willing to gain back my trust. Flash foreward a year later (a month ago specifically) i was with her and saw a message popping up on her phone from a guy i never heard of, i decided to check it out and there it was again, the same situation with a different guy this time, i was boiling inside but tried to keep my calm but eventually snapped at her, asked her and she said he was her friend’s boyfriend and they were trying him to see if he was loyal, he obviously was not and the discussion between them seemed like it lasted at least a few weeks or months, i asked her how much proof does her friend need when she has a month’s worth of evidence. Mia told me her friend was delusional and said maybe he still loves her and is just a phase, and she asked Mia to keep talking to him. Obviously i didnt believe her and we had a huge fight after that didnt talk for a while. In wich i was devastated, i felt dumb and hurt and betrayed for the second time, i decided to go along with her story to see the real truth, two days later i saw a picture of her wearing a short dress wich i never seen, i asked her about it and she got defensive like that time with corean man wich was a red flag, so after explaining and showing me that she was selling it online she got mad and said i was being dramatic, to wich i appologised and thought maybe she was right and i was being toxic. After that she decided to get mad and not talk to me.
Then i got mad i thought to myself its my right to be distrustful, after all she did nothing to make me trust her again she didnt make me feel secure about our relationship. I usually dont cry over anything like this but that time i did. After that she came to make peace and i decided to go along and pretend everything is good to see how it goes, i told her about my insecurity and how it was hard to trust her she said she was sorry and would do better. After two weeks i saw no progress, it was the same old dynamic of her disrespecting me and me laughing it off.
Finally, to a week earlier she was sending me reels when she sent me one that said « 4billion men in the world and im only in love with 12 » i told her i didnt find it funny and that it was a huge red flag to me, she got mad and said its not her problem that i was insecure and distrustful. I snapped and decided to end it there and then, blocked her on all socials and cut off contact. Today she called me twice and i picked up the third time, she was acting casual and asking me about my day, i told her if she didnt have anything important to say she should let me hang up, she started joking about me hanging up and did hang up, she called me again, this time screaming and telling me im being ridiculous and we should stop acting like children, when she heard how unfased i was she got mad and hung up on me.
If anyone took the time to read this, thank you and sorry for the long read.

2024.06.01 19:23 0nlytheatre0fpain What's wrong with me?

Idk if I have gender dysphoria or if it's just my anxiety gaslighting me into thinking I do? Whatever it is, I hate it and I’d do anything to get rid of it.
For some background, I never had any real issues with my gender, I was always kinda tomboyish, albeit on the more feminine side. But I started to really give into my tomboyish-ness around some time in 2021 but that was more so because I was developing a sense of internalized misogyny. Nevertheless, I was mostly proud of my identity as a female with somewhat gnc traits.
This sorta thing first occurred around early 2023. My mental state was already extremely low at this time, as I was in a constant state of anxiety and was very prone to intrusive thoughts. Anyway, one day I was just spacing out and had an existential/identity crisis of some sort and asked all sorts of questions about myself in my head, one of them being “What am I?” and in my head I responded “Well I’m a girl” and then my head responded back with “Are you really?” I tried to brush it off and ignore it, thinking “uhh yeah ofc i am” but my brain didn't let go of it and I felt forced (?) to question my gender.
After a while, I felt mostly better and it kinda became an on and off kinda thing from then. There were points where I'd practically forgotten about those thoughts and points where they would jumpscare me without warning, but I'd eventually calm myself down. Usually though, these thoughts were just kinda rotting in the back of my head.
About a month ago (or slightly more?) I was just going out with my parents and I wore a somewhat masc presenting outfit, I went to a store with them and I walked by the toys aisle for little girls for nostalgia’s sake I guess and I just kinda thought it was a bit funny given how I was dressed but then it lead to me worrying that people would mistake me for a guy or think that I was trans and then I got “dysphoric.”
Not long after, I decided to go by she/they pronouns and after a few days, I was starting to feel somewhat better until I was rehearsing said pronouns in my head and my brain made the mistake of referring to me as a “he” instead of a “she.” I tried ignoring, it but my brain started to spiral and flash with thoughts of being a boy, and I had an anxiety attack.
It's like my brain tries to gaslight me into thinking I want to be a boy or something? But I really don't, I don't even like being called “he”, nor do I want to change any part of my body and I wouldn't consider myself "trans" but I’m so scared of the idea of actually giving into these thoughts. I just wanna be happy as how I already am (female) without these thoughts telling me otherwise.
I have an upcoming therapist appointment, so should I discuss this issue in therapy?
I'm worried that this may not make too much sense? In which case, sorry, this is my first time posting on here.

2024.06.01 19:03 Nosajhpled [We stopped robbing humans and started an orc-themed restaurant] - Chapter 26 - Fantasy

Previous
Chapter 1
Rose opened her eyes.
Several human men and two human women stood in the room with Rose. In her grogginess, she couldn't understand their words. One human female who looked vaguely familiar pointed at Rose.
The familiar-looking woman exited through what seemed to be the front door. The others gathered around, discussing something Rose couldn't make out. She heard the word "it" tossed around.
One man glanced at Rose, his eyes widening in shock. He looked out a large window, gesturing and speaking urgently to the others. They all gathered at the window, talking rapidly. The man slipped away, slowly approaching Rose while drawing a dagger. He walked past her and knelt behind her.
Rose tensed, bracing herself for the end.
"Hi," the human said, "I'm Derrick. Sorry for this." Rose felt her bound arms loosen. "I'm going to cut the ropes a little bit. When I'm gone, count to five and pull, and you'll be free. Please don't kill them, I mean, you can kick their asses, but they're my friends, so don't kill them. I'm sorry for this." He took a breath as the ropes loosened. "Ok, I'm going to run like the devil is after me," he laughed, "which you are. Good luck with your boyfriend. I'm rooting for you both." The ropes loosened enough for Rose to move. She heard footsteps running away.
One... Two... Three... Four... Five...
Rose flexed, snapping the ropes. She quickly got to her feet. The four humans at the window turned in surprise. Before they could react, Rose summoned nature's fury.
The house exploded.
All the windows on the first floor and the front door shattered from the wind's fury. Lightning crackled in the air. Fytistone fell flat with a scream. Hamilton, Battleax, and Thorn watched the scene. Batty dropped into a defensive crouch. Rick's eyes widened, and he whimpered.
"Rose!" Rick shouted, bolting into the house.
"Go help," Battleax commanded Batty, who bounded after Rick.
"My house!" Fytistone shouted as she got to her feet. She turned and glared at the shorter Mayor, "I demand—" She stopped cold, seeing the Mayor's angry red eyes.
Fytistone recoiled but then gathered herself. She straightened up, gave Hamilton her best frown, and pushed past him. Hamilton gripped her arm with an iron grip. Fytistone screamed in pain. Hamilton tossed her to the two guards running to the house.
"Lock her up!" Hamilton commanded. The two guards shrugged and dragged Fytistone away as she shouted threats. Hamilton turned back to watch the chaos inside the house.
The four humans at the window regained their senses and quickly climbed to their feet. Seeing Derrick run out the back door, a fifth human peered into the room. Seeing Rose awake, he grabbed the first weapon he could find, a cast iron skillet.
The man with the iron skillet thought he would sneak behind Rose and knock her out. When he entered the room with the iron skillet raised over his head, he found a Battleax. Batty, the Barbarian Battleax of the Battleax clan from the Barbarian Region of Battleax (Yes, Dear Reader, that was fun to write), charged him in full barbarian rage. The man screamed and ran with the enraged barbarian giving chase.
"Batty?" Rose asked as the barbarian charged past her.
The lone female and the only magic user of the group held up her hands. She shouted, "Slee—" but was interrupted by an imp flying through the window onto her back. Rick landed hard on the woman, knocking the breath from her.
Rick turned to the largest man, bellowed, and charged. Rick slammed into the big man's chest, knocking him flat with Rick on top of him. Rick clawed at the man's throat, his sharp teeth exposed, and spit dripping from his snout. Rick's eyes glowed red with anger as he bellowed, "I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL!" The man let out a high-pitched scream as he crawled backward with Rick on top, clawing and snarling.
One of the last men standing jumped through the window. He tumbled over the windowsill, found his footing, and began to run. He stopped dead when he saw Thorn, Hamilton, and Battleax. Battleax pointed to the ground. The man, familiar with bar brawls, knew the rules. He lay face down, closed his eyes, and prayed to all the gods, even the orc ones, that Battleax was in a good mood.
The last man bent to help his wife, who was slowly regaining her senses. She stood and watched as the iron skillet man ran past.
In a panic, the iron skillet man threw his only weapon at the barbarian. Batty caught the iron skillet, swung it above her head, and shouted, "I will dine on your flesh!" The now skillet-less man screamed and ran, with Batty chasing him.
The woman looked at Rose, who was now fully awake. She shouted, "Slee—"
Rose held up her hands as ice shot from her palms. The ice hit the woman directly in the chest, knocking her out of the broken window. The woman rolled, gasping for air. She rolled into something and looked up, finding herself face to face with gnarly, dark green toenails connected to a dark green foot. She looked up at the smiling Thorn. The woman lay face down and cried.
The last man looked at his wife, lying on the ground. He turned to Rose, grinning as he drew his dagger. "Well, I guess there's only one way now." He began to stalk toward the shaman.
A loud gong rang throughout the house when Batty connected the iron skillet to the iron skillet-less man's head. He crumbled. Batty tossed the skillet in the air and caught it. She turned and saw the man with the dagger approaching Rose.
The big man crawled into a corner, attempting to hit Rick, but each blow made the imp angrier. Rick had scratched large, deep gashes into the man's spit-covered face.
Rick's red eyes glared into the man's terrified eyes. He showed all his sharp teeth as he whispered, "Your soul smells sweet." The man passed out. Rick smacked him a few times and finally stood up. He looked back to see the armed man approaching Rose.
Rose prepared to fight. She sent a gust of wind, but this man was different. He had seen battle and was ready for the shaman. She shot ice, but he stepped away, his sadistic smile vanishing.
Rose felt a presence on her right. She glanced over and saw Batty step beside her, holding the iron skillet. To her left, she saw a snarling Rick, claws extended.
The man dropped his weapon and placed his hands behind his head. Batty pointed to the door and commanded, "Outside." The man complied.
Rose, Batty, and Rick escorted that man outside. The guards were gathering the two fallen humans. Derrick was having an animated conversation with Hamilton, who stood listening and nodding.
"Two more inside," Batty told the guards. They nodded and rushed into the house.
"You good, girl?" Thorn asked Rose.
"Yeah, they caught me off guard," Rose said. Rick was looking at Rose all over, twisting his hands together. Rose patted him on the head. "I'm fine, Rick."
"I was so worried," Rick squeaked.
"Thank you," Rose said, patting him again.
The guards escorted the two now-conscious men out of the house. Both looked terrible after the battle. The big man looked at Rick and squeaked in terror. Rick's eyes flashed red with anger as he hissed at him.
The big man began to cry, "Don't let it eat my soul."
"Rick!" Thorn commanded. Rick looked at Thorn while Rose clenched her fists, ready to continue the fight. Thorn smiled at the little imp. "You did good, imp."
Thorn nodded to Hamilton, who nodded back. "Let's go home, you two."

2024.06.01 18:46 Accident_no2 AITA for not letting my husband come back?

Very long post! I came back to the top to say that not all of the issues we've had are laid out because I would type my thumbs off trying to say everything.
I (23F) have been with my husband (27M) for almost 3 years. We eloped and almost immediately were expecting. We were both very excited and everything was perfect until the baby came. Our daughter is 1 now.
For the entire first year of her life, he came home from work (9 am - 3 pm) every day and immediately took a nap that ranged from 2 to 4 hours long. On his days off, he insisted that I get up with her while he slept in, and when he did finally get up, he gamed until he was ready for his daily nap. The household chores started piling up because I was caring for our daughter full time and working from home nearly 60 hours a week. I expressed feeling like I was doing everything on my own and I needed help with the household chores or for him to watch her so I could take care of the house. He was dismissive and said he actually goes to work and wants to be able to relax when he comes home. An argument breaks out, I cry, he takes her for an hour, I do what I can in that time.
The cycle continues. This argument happened at least 7 times before she was 8 months old.
Right after she reached 7 months, we got a "Vacate or Pay" notice. I had given him control of the finances because it was too much for me to balance a baby, maintaining the house, and working. I asked him about it and he said it was fine, he just had to wait for his paycheck. Ultimately, I found out that he was buying fast food for lunch EVERY DAY at work and sometimes on the way home and eating it in the car so I wouldn't know. McDonald's was single handedly draining our bank accounts. OUR bank accounts, not just his. I didn't leave the house very often unless it was for grocery shopping so I didn't notice that he had MY debit card as well. We ended up not being able to pay rent. We moved into the family room in my mom's basement.
Several key events then happened that you need for context.
I sold my car so we would have some money, but so stupidly put the money into my bank account instead of holding onto it. We now had only one car. He lost his job due to attendance issues (consistently calling out and being late) and got a new job with less hours and less pay. I got laid off because the contract I was working under in my company expired and their partners didn't want to renew it. "We" decided it would be easier for me to just stay home with the baby instead of finding a job outside the home. Really it would just require us to put my daughter in daycare so I could go work, but we didn't have the money and he was still spending money recklessly, so we weren't able to save up any money for it. My mom removed me as a second beneficiary on her will because she didn't trust that my husband would allow me have control of the money I would get to take care of my 2 minor siblings. THAT turned into a huge argument between him and I because I see why my mom chose to do that. I told him he needs to start acting like a responsible adult who has a child to provide for because I would leave him if his behavior came between me and my ability to take care of my family. He reluctantly gave me all the debit cards and said something along the lines of "Its great to know your whole family thinks I'm so terrible." We got our tax return and the money got spent on a PS5, a year long PS+ membership, gamed for the PS5, and fast food.
More context events: He started being protective of his phone. Won't let me use it for a quick search, to call my phone when I can't find it, or even just for the flashlight. He started drinking frequently and wanting to go to a nearby dive bar by himself. Claiming he wanted to be alone and insisting that he doesn't want me to go. He got a "boot on the car" while he was at said bar. He called me at 2 am asking if I had $105 dollars in my venmo so he could pay to get the boot off. I did not. I got mad and told him to figure it out himself. He came home and I confronted him about our financial situation. I asked for the receipt or service ticket from the boot and he said he didn't get either of those from the security people. He says he'll turn over all financially control to me. Spoiler, he doesn't follow through.
Flash forward to the Wednesday after her first birthday. I want to take a shower around 2 before I go to my sisters rugby game at 5. I ask him to watch our daughter so I can go shower. He makes a big deal of having to start prep for dinner and that he was about to eat lunch. I told him I can wait, I just need to be in the shower by 3:30 so I can have time to get myself and the baby ready to go by 4:30 when we need to leave. He says "okay, I think I can do that. In the future it'd be easier if you shower at night when she sleeping." I had a physical response to that comment. To this point of her entire life I had only been doing exactly that. And at this point her molars are coming in so she's not sleeping well. Just a couple days before this conversation, I had tried to shower after she went to sleep, but she didn't stay asleep. Instead of getting up and trying to soothe her, he called me and said "where are you?" I'm in the shower "well she's awake" okay, help her "I have to work in the morning" okay, I'm in the shower "well just get out and come take care of her". Back to the current conversation, we start arguing about him not being available to help me with her. I told him he always finds some excuse to avoid taking care of her and he says he doesn't know how to take care of a baby. In the end, he watches her while I shower, but while watching her, packs away his PS5 and makes a point of telling me that since he's so unavailable, he just won't do anything he wants to do.
That Friday is my cousin's 18th birthday. We have a tradition of taking the new adult to the strip club and I was SO excited to go. I asked my husband if he would watch her while I go. I explained that she would already be in bed and that I wouldn't need the car or money because I was getting a ride and someone was going to pay my cover fee. I wasn't interested in getting dances, just hanging out and making fun of my cousin as he awkwardly gets some T and A shaken in his face. He, surprisingly, agrees with no resistance. I go and vent to my aunt and female cousin about the shower argument. We stop by the bar next door while my cousin gets a private dance and I have a couple drinks.
By the time I got home I was hyped up on spiced rum and "f*ck that, I would have left already" responses. I go through his phone while he's sleeping. I found messages and messages with other women on his phone, that include flirting, exchanging nudes, and him asking if they can "host" because he has "roommates". Some of them are "escorts" that work the area around the the dive bar that he's been going to lately. And I had a flash back to the boot situation. I screenshotted all the messages and sent them to myself. I look through his bank statements and venmo transactions and see that he's been pulling all our money out in cash, so there's no way of knowing where it's going. I messaged him (yes, he was sleeping the bed next to me while I did all this) and just go off. I let out all my thoughts and feelings about our financial situation, him avoiding taking care of our daughter, the messages, and how I feel for having let him manipulate me for all this time.
When he woke up to that, his first question to me was "why did you go through my phone?" Needless to say, we separated. I didn't and haven't used the word divorce to him, but that may be the end result. He kept talking about how he has no where to go and I'm throwing him out on the street, then switching over to he loves me so much and he'll do anything to keep me in his life, and then spitefully saying he's gonna do better and succeed and "you'll see ☝🏼". I stood my ground and made him leave. I laid out my expectations saying I won't even consider taking him back until he consistently goes to therapy which I expect him to continue IF I take him back, he shows me he can be financially responsible for even one person (himself), and he makes an effort to maintain a relationship with our daughter, not me.
It's been 2 weeks and things have been awful. I've been literally taking notes on things that are happening because I know this traumatized brain of mine is not gonna remember how I have been feeling throughout the process or how I felt the day I told him to leave. It's been 2 weeks and I already have 8 pages of notes about negative interactions I've had with him in contrast with the single paragraph of something positive that he did. Last night he told me he's scared he's gonna do all this for nothing, that I won't take him back even if he tries his best. And that he just wants to come home.
I want things to work out because we were happy once. Maybe I'm holding out for nothing. He has constantly made me feel like I'm the bad guy for not letting him stay with me while he makes the changes I expect of him. Now I have these thoughts in my head. Am I the bad guy? Should I have tried to let him make changes while staying in the home?
I just need some outside perspective, whether it's reassuring or constructive. Thank you.

2024.06.01 18:19 Asian_Persuasion_1 Less known facts/implications based on the jjk fanbook

After a long time, I finally decided to check out the fanbook to deepen my understanding of the story. I usually don't trust databooks because most of them are just a rehash of stuff stated in the manga written by some random person, but around 80% of this is written by the author himself, so I think it's worth reading.
As I was reading, I noticed a lot of details that I thought that most people don't know of, so I wanted to provide the more interesting pieces of information to those who don't want to bother reading the entirety of it.
  1. Itadori only knows a little bit of karate (Imo most characters know little if not no martial arts officially). Which means he's highly talented, as his martial arts techniques (i.e. manji kick) is purely on instinct, even though nobody taught him how to do it
  2. megumi feels sad when his shikigami die, as opposed to strangers dying
  3. megumi has seen other friends die before, and he's been a sorcerer for a reasonably long time, implying he started earlier than high school
    1. but it also says he didn't get assigned missions, and rather it was only when gojo brought him along. So perhaps there is missing context and that he just lost his friend in his first year of jujutsu high?
  4. Nobara was taught how to use her technique by her grandmother. Idk if her grandmother had the same CT. The fanbook (for kusakabe's page) states you don't need a CT to help train somebody else on how to use their CT, so it could go either way. I'm leaning towards that the granny had the same CT though.
  5. rika and yuta can see what the other sees.
  6. hakari looks old, but he was never held back a school year, he's the same age as everyone else in his grade (~18 probably)
  7. apparently hakari got into an argument with a conservative (similar idealogy to higher ups), beat the shit out of him, and got expelled. idk if beating up the conservative is the direct reason or an excuse for other issues they had with him
  8. Mai's first love was maybe fushiguro, and also a low chance of being maki
  9. muta (mechamaru) has "cursed energy output beyond measure". I suppose that makes sense, as if his output towards his puppet was weak, then there's no way the puppet itself could be semi-grade 1. Now the real question is if his output is even greater than the likes of sukuna and ryu (output relative to their reserves).
  10. Gege came up with Todo based on Zaraki Kenpachi (Bleach)
  11. gege's view on kenpachi is "if this guy’s around, you won’t die (because he’s strong)". gege's view on todo is "if this guy’s around, you won’t die (because it would turn into a gag)"
  12. Todo's scar is due to extreme training with Yuki
  13. Momo's dad (flying broom girl) is an american sorcerer (basically the only confirmation america has sorcerers)
  14. Gege can't see Gojo being faithful to a woman romantically
  15. "The Six-Eyes essentially is "eyes that see cursed energy extremely clearly"." Still doesn't really clarify much, but maybe it helps to know, idk.
  16. "Even objects that have no cursed energy can be made out by the remnants of cursed energy or the flow of cursed energy around them" I assume that's how he "sensed" Toji.
  17. Gojo recruited Megumi, Yuta, and Yuji solely(?) because they are strong/talented, I say that cause the fanbook also says that gojo didn't care about other details when recruiting them.
  18. Apparently Gege himself said that Nanami's 4 consecutive black flashes was during Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. I thought it was just a creative liberty by the anime.
  19. Mei Mei's favorite food is a type of malaysian food, so I guess she goes there often?
  20. Mei Mei's possesses almost 50 billion yen ($318 million). This is before shinjuku showdown.
  21. Mei Mei is an alias not her real name. I guess that's why she and ui ui don't share surnames. Ui Ui's likely isn't real either.
  22. Gege says not much of Geto's will remained in shibuya. He compared it to a dragonfly's head moving after being decapitated. (it's so gojover)
  23. Apparently the scars from brain hopping can be healed with rct, but kenjaku doesn't because of a binding vow. What that binding vow is, and if Yuta has the same vow, idk.
  24. The main reason Uraume has the right to be with sukuna is because she can cook delicious meals, apparently
  25. Kenjaku met Mahito through Jogo, rather than finding mahito himself
  26. When asked about the camraderie between the disasters, Gege said "Definitely yes, but maybe kind of no"
  27. Dagon apparently has an interest in Hanami (no further description)
  28. Rika is implied to be a psychopath and definitely a yandere (my opinion) but Yuta is him and fixed her (kinda?)
  29. Wasuke (itadori's grandpa) died to lung cancer, no sorcery shenanigans
  30. "The last chapter and key points of the ending have been decided, but there are many parts of the narrative until then that still haven't been defined. Fushiguro's ending is set, but not Itadori's." This could have changed though.
  31. it has been around 400 years since someone with the six eyes was born. But considering how gojo head and zenin head killed each other then, and that was around the keicho (1596-1615) or edo period (1603-1868), so we can assume it's where they overlap, which is around 400 years ago. So they're probably talking about the same person. 400 years since someone had six eyes + limitless. limitless might have popped up between those 400 years though.
  32. Gege himself says he planned to say that if Geto didn't split up his forces in jjk 0, he would have won. In the end he conveyed this through Kenjaku. So it seems it's not mere speculation by a character but what the author himself believes.
  33. (against jogo's domain) "Was Itadori fine in there thanks to Sukuna, thanks to Gojo or thanks to him being no ordinary person himself? Please, choose whichever you like best." It's interesting cause gojo makes the most sense, but gojo wasn't even touching yuji. So I wondered what the answer was, which...canonically doesn't exist :/
  34. "The rock Gojo suddenly smashed inside the domain was a “Meteor” unleashed by Jogo as a testing measure and it didn’t have any sure-hit effect." I was always confused by this since gojo managed to react to a sure hit, which I thought was supposed to be invisible. Apparently it wasn't invisible since it wasn't a sure hit. So then, did gojo stop it with infinity, or just CE reinforcement? Also, does the domain itself nullify defenses, or is it the sure hit aspect that does? and does the sure hit work because it travels through defenses, or because it spawns already past the defense? And apparently you can use a CT in a domain without sure hit too? I mean I guess, but why would you? Ah, so many questions I would like to ask Gege directly.
  35. Junpei summons/creates his shikigami through his hair
  36. (commentary for mahito vs. yuji and nanami) "I had already decided early on that cursed techniques would become unusable for a short period of time following Domain Expansions, but I ended up changing the specific wording from “impossible to use” to “difficult to use” in the process of finishing up this chapter’s storyboard. That’s why Mahito seems to be in pain at the end." mahito using his CT pretty much right after the domain can't be coincidence, especially since gege went out of his way to say this. Considering how even the most skilled sorcerers can't use their CT after a domain, the capacity of using it right after likely depends on 1) being a cursed spirit, and 2) how simple your CT is, like ryu
  37. "To tell you the truth, I think Maki catching a bullet might have been a bit too much, but… Well, it’s fine!" Maki had to perfect her heavenly restriction before properly reacting to mach speed naoya, and yuji in shibuya was stronger than maki but still was barely dodging piercing blood, so reacting to a bullet faster than mach speed in goodwill doesn't really make sense.
  38. Hanami was given a female voice because that's how Gege envisioned it.
  39. Todo's technique was initially going to be called "Fruits Basket"
This is just what I thought was interesting/important information. If you are feeling interested in it, then go check it out for yourself. Link to google doc
Also keep in mind this an interpretation, of an interpretation, so I might have gotten some things wrong, as others have pointed out in the comments.

2024.06.01 17:27 Typical-Gene-5699 Saw every show of the Season. And I vote for things.

After last night I have seen (sometimes multiple times) every show of the 2023-2024 season.
I also happen to be a voter for Theatre awards in NYC (probably one of the ones you're thinking of). So please AMA* is you have any burning thoughts about my thoughts or the process.
*the spirit of the voting is it is anonymous so I will not share any identifying info on how I got this privilege. You can believe me or not- it's Reddit after all! Honor system. But I appreciate the space to get my thoughts out, outside of the bubble of my circle.
*i also won't explicitly say what i am voting for, again for the spirit of anonymity, but will share my thoughts about my favorites.
*The tickets are complimentary as gifts from the Producers of the shows themselves. However, all the opinions are my own I am frankly, more critical due to the fact that I *didn't* invest my money and want to make myself find justification for that expense.
*I will stick to only Broadway productions as the off bway world will add another few dozens of pages.
Some people in this particular group who get this privilege are artists who view the show through the lens of artistry and personal opinion. Some are business people who view things as a business strategy and tool for continuing to fund the business that is show. Some are in between. I think you'll see how I look at the shows, and know that my opinion is just one of many and in no way indicative of trends or "word around town."
Overall thoughts and takeaways of the season:
First the Good: The Plays.
This was a very exciting years for the straight plays. A lot of incredible work, and a lot of money invested into plays that typically isn't seen (i LOVE LOVE LOVE to see plays that mic their actors. and multiple did this year which warmed my heart- investing where it's deserved.) I hope to see this trend continue for plays, as we all know more attention and money get funneled towards the musicals and Plays deserve more.
Getting access to these shows has actually changed my views on Plays- I never paid them much attention unless I had colleagues in them or an actor I admired. Plays were really only a thing I studied quickly in school and moved on to musical theater- so my expertise was (and is) not there. However, due to getting to and being required to see all the eligible shows, my eyes and brain have been opened up to plays in a way I didn't know. It's still a learning curve- but I appreciate straight plays so much differently now, and regret never giving them the credence they deserved before.
The plays ranged from every corner of every genre, whereas in previous seasons it was incredibly drama heavy, so this season was incredibly refreshing to see such range of work. Comedy, dark comedy, drama, etc.
The standout for me this season was Jaja's African Braiding. That was the most captivating play I've seen it a long time. It was sincere, genuine, accurate and had a lot to say. It also was the perfect example of a BIPOC story being told genuinely- no hand holding or spoon feeding or pandering to non BIPOC audiences. I've always believed if we don't stop to breakdown the cultural complexities and nuances of non BIPOC stories (say Oklahoma!) BIPOC stories do not owe us that labor when they're being presented. To see genuine BIPOC stories and lives and communities onstage sharing sincere stories is a gift. Especially one SO well written and performed. TBH I could have watched the series of customers going in and out and the salon corps interacting for hours, even without the main conflict that arises later in the play. It was THAT engaging and heartening. I wish it was still running so I could see it again.
The other stand out was I Need That, which i know was snubbed and overlooked by awards season, which very much surprised me.
The script of that play is so well done- the character development is off the charts. I walked out of that show and had to find a corner to sob in for a moment. I don't know, maybe I identified with one of more character too much, maybe I was moved by the depiction of genuine male platonic love in a way we rarely see onstage, or maybe all of it just got to me, but the pathos that performance generated was off the charts. I was very disappointed to see it left out of any categories at all.
For the other side of it all- The plays that didn't do much for me this season were Uncle Vanya and Prayer For the French Republic. I think we've all read the reviews of Vanya and I don't need to reiterate- it wasn't for me, nor a lot of people in that audience who left at intermission. That cast is incredibly stacked and talented, and doing what they can with the material, which at is core is a classic Russian Play. Something that is not going to be a style of theatre for everyone. Prayer for the French republic was full of such beautiful performances and writing, but was an act too long IMO. The momentum was completely lost with the 2nd act and very hard to get back in the 3rd due to that. Maybe it's an attention span problem of the masses (myself included) but many people around us and fellow viewers I've compared notes with agreed.
Middle of the road- and I know i'll get hate for this- Stereophonic.
It's about 3-40 minutes too long, ironic with what they discuss in the final leg of the play (no spoilers). and though the music is sumptuous it concerns me that everyone walks away talking about the music and voices...which are wonderful of course...but this is not a musical. it's a play. As a voter i'm VERY aware of this and very aware of how people are not (even other voters)- they talk about it as if it is a musical, which is dangerous territory for decision makers. The music is a apart of the show yes, but it is not *the show* and looking at it through the lens of musical performance puts all the other performances and scripts of plays without music at a major disadvantage which worries me come Tony's night. I will say what this play made me REALLY want IS a musical (or musical movie) about the recording of Rumours and Fleetwood Mac produced one day. I know it probably won't happen, and the reason this play exists is to do just that without royalties or being sued, but it made me very much want to see the REAL story- not the thinly veiled workaround. I do think it's astounding the attention and hype the show has gotten, and some of the performances certainly deserve it, but alas I am not in the camp that understands *all* of the hype. I will say that the score, all 5(?) songs, are better than almost any of the new musicals this season in terms of composition, pastiche, and ESPECIALLY lyrics. I'm not sure if I can in good conscious say it's the *best* score since other shows are musicals with story driving scores of 15 plus songs...but my god was it refreshing to hear some mature, thoughtful music, with correct pastiche/motifs for the time period (or well Fleetwood Mac) and lyrics that were more complex than a rhyming dictionary.
Now for the (i won't say "bad" but rather, the surprise): the Musicals.
My first love. The Musicals.
and oh boy...this season was...full.
I cannot stop but thinking that this season was a clear example of the long ripple effect of what happens while creating art as a commodity in a capitalistic society. much less a capitalistic society after a tremendous shut down. The ripple effects from pre-Covid are evident here as well, but even more so is the reality of how much business goes into show- and the decisions that get made as a result. The reality is we've created a society of Art that isn't sustainable without large amounts of money, from every side, the productions, the audiences, and the artists themselves. And due to that, it has become more than a race to the bottom to figure out the formula to make that work- it's become, I don't know, insidious? Almost like a factory of work who's intention is to make profit above all else, and everything else suffers. So much so that a majority of the work this year felt rushed (because it was) and underbaked (because it was.) A handful of BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE boxes with BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE wrapping paper and finishes- but no gift inside. And I won't lie, it keeps me up at night knowing a large amount of people would take the pretty empty box over a brown paper bag with the most thoughtful and meaningful gift inside- over and over. This has been the case since the beginning of Broadway, but I think we see it in a way that's undeniable now. BC of high production costs and ticket costs there's a real sense of expectations that are nearly impossible to meet while checking all the boxes of artistic integrity AND commercialism.
With that heavy thought out of the way, I will say: some of the work this season was mind blowing. It wasn't all doom and gloom. The sheer AMOUNT of work we got to see is a gift- even if it just taught us about the work itself or the work the industry needs.
There are too many musicals this season to write about- so I will stick to a few sparknotes.
The absolute standouts to me were The Outsiders and Suffs.
I wanted to run backstage at The Outsiders and scream "YOU DID IT!" A la Buddy The Elf after the show with no shame. IMO they did it: they may very well have cracked the code of creating large scale commercial theatre, with known IP and mass market appeal BUT make it feel like a piece of high art, something introspective and downtown, and *real*. It proves spectacle can exist even in the nitty gritty, it can exist with substance, it can WOW without traditional "flash" AND respect the source material with integrity. The Rumble, the effects, that is all Spectacle. But it's spectacle done with heart, integrity, and it puts the ART and the storytelling first in a way that makes the audience feel like they are seeing something elevated and genuine. It excites me VERY much that this show broke through this year and what it may mean for shows to come who see it as an inspiration. The staging working alongside the choreography is by far some of the most brilliant, moving stagecraft and vision I have ever see. The music is fresh and smart, a welcome change for the great Broadway songbook as we try to push the artform forward, and overall in all aspects it checked every box I feel a lot of shows have tried, but really struggled, to check successfully since this race to the bottom has started.
Suffs- is genius. Not because it's the best show I have ever seen- but because on paper, it's not only a artistic mission well done, but a business plan that will keep that mission going and funded for years to come.
This show will continue running if not on Broadway or tour, but in Regional & community houses and schools for a very long time. It's the new "Little Women." There are more talented female identifying performers in this world than roles and opportunities, especially at the Regional and Community levels where they struggle to find Male presenting actors or enough roles to feature the talented rosters of women they have at their disposal. It's one of the reasons Little Women is so often produced. This show fills that need, and then some, and does it as a form of activism. These small regional houses, often in the parts of the country that need the message the most, will expose audiences to this work and if it even "radicalizes" one person or changes one person's mind- the work is done. Especially during this time- when women's rights are so fraught and the relevance to our work not being close to done: this show speaks so loudly and will inspire generations of both young men and women to come. In the bathroom at intermission I saw multiple grandmothers and mothers and daughters and granddaughters. One woman said out loud "I wonder what the men's room is talking about right now- I hope they feel like us, and bring their sons." and that was it. That is this show's mission in a nutshell- and it is succeeding. Activism through art is one of our biggest and oldest tools of expression- and seeing it in action was really profound. On top of the genius of what it is and will be on paper- it is one of the SMARTEST scores I've heard in recent years. Witty, introspective, moving, smart, clever and more- all done in a way that somehow melds modern pop sensibilities and turn of the century pastiche. It's genius. The lyrics are absolute literature and poetry and a lesson in story telling a lot of lyricists need to take a note from. They embody the idea of "feelings and emotions being too big they have to be sung" all while being incredibly thoughtful and truly TRULY moving. The lyrics to Keep Marching are an anthem to anyone fighting for the bigger picture- I found myself thinking about the line
"You'll rarely agree with whoever's in charge Keep marching, keep marching 'Cause your ancestors are all the proof you need That progress is possible, not guaranteed It will only be made if we keep marching, keep marching on"
It has swirled in my head for days and days and days. That is what theatre is supposed to do. Teach, empower, and inspire change. Shaina Taub should not be underestimated.
I also will always ALWAYS have a soft spot in my Heart for Here Lies Love. I could go on for days- but API stories are important. and this was one was groundbreaking and expertly done. I honestly have almost no critiques or notes on that production- it will always be a tragedy it could not find its footing with today's audiences and deserved so much more. I fear it'll dissuade people from telling these stories in the future- and I hope theatre makers know how worth the risk is to tell these stories for the sake of the people and the art.
as for the other side of the coin-
Video walls. I am not in support. I understand they are here to stay, if only for the cost cutting effects it has on Producer's pockets. But I am not, ever, impressed when video walls/projections *are* the set. They absolutely have their place in innovative ways to supplement an *actual* set, but not as the set. It simply feels no different than a cruise ship show who have been using these walls as sets for decades due to lack of space, or like we're looking at bad video game graphics from a cut scene- no matter how much work goes into them. I will always take a creative way to create a world over a .jpeg and this year unfortunately, I found myself in a lot of video game cut scenes. And I fear this will be the trend moving forward until the cyclical nature of theatre once again finds itself on a new cycle of minimalism.
If i learned one thing this season it's that THE BOOK MATTERS. The book is a thankless part of a musical- if you don't notice it, it's typically a good book. And WOW did I notice a lot of books this season. You cannot hide a bad book under big music, or special effects, or flashy costumes or impressive choreography or any of it. A musical is storytelling- and the book is the heart of that. It's a running joke that 'the book needs work' in all musicals of all time, and that may be true, but this season was another level of that. It was clear how rushed and underdeveloped a lot of these books were- in many cases shockingly so. And it felt often like the bookwriters were aware of this- opting to use the book simply as dialogue to move from song to song so you'd forget. But those of us paying attention did not forget. The books of musicals are often the most difficult parts to nail down, especially without the right time or team, and I think it was glaringly obvious this season how much attention future writers need to give to their book material. The audiences, critics and nominators have started taking notice- and it has to once again become a priority over high belts, star actors, big sets, and special effects.
I won't get into deep end with The Great Gatsby as so many others (including myself!) have on this thread because the opinions will always be what they are. But I will say- that was one of the most upsetting pieces of modern theatre I have ever seen. And not in a way that was intended. We have a serious problem when multiple people laugh at two very important deaths and when the bartenders in the lobby say "yeah, a lot of people come in at intermission laughing about how bad and cheesy it is." It is the epitome of the thoughts I explained earlier. And though I will always be supportive of shows that bring stable work to those in the community, I weep at what expense to the artform and what keeps it from pushing forward, for how it will encourages theater makers to make shows for profit instead of encouraging art to be made because of a burning desire to say something or explore something so strong it *has* to exist . And also for basic media literacy of very clear cut source material- The Green Light and La Dee Dah songs will live in infamy. I would argue that the lack of nominations could very well have been a deliberate choice, a choice I would have supported. but alas, only a few handfuls of people will know that truth.
Additionally- I was not the audience for Hell's Kitchen. I understand why the hype is as large as it is, and think the performers are doing some very transformative work to that music...but I am not one who found it as ground breaking as others. I do sense a lot of support for that show is based out of business strategy for future revenue on the literal road for Producers- and I cannot fault that in a world where butts need to be in seats and it's getting increasingly difficult to do so. This show will be a success on Broadway and on the Road regardless of Tony wins.
Middle of the Road: Cabaret. I will say this was the most engaging theatrical experience I had all year. They expertly handled THEMING in a way that rivals Disney parks (and that isn't an insult, it's a huge compliment to detail. This is a level of investment often overlooked and rarely duplicated well without looking cheesy or tacky or like a half baked Bar Mitzvah or wedding with a theme) The theming was transformative, and the show itself *beautiful*. I found it incredibly new in tone than previous productions, but I do understand people wanting more from it. I felt it was an incredibly nuanced look, especially for the female characters who often don't get that opportunity in this show. If more shows could find ways to invest in the engagement of the audiences and theming of theaters, I think you'd also see a large rise of audience satisfaction due to the sheer novelty and attention paid to it.
I'm incredibly privileged to get to see all these shows and be able to learn about theatre, and myself, in the process, especially since so many historically are excluded from that access. I do not take it lightly- which is why I *am* more critical, to me it's a responsibility to the artform and the future of it, while some others than are just happy to be there to experience the privilege, and that's okay too.
Happy to answer questions and always happy for an ear to share my thoughts outside of my theatre journal!

Gills pink/red?
Do my guppy’s gills look to red or pink? Maybe slightly enlarged? Not sure if it’s because of her light color or not. I did see her and the other female flashing on a plant a bit. I haven’t seen the male do that at all. Ammonia is 0 so are the nitrite and nitrates. ph is around 7.5-8, KH was round 180, and GH 120-180. She also just had fry on Tuesday as well.

2024.06.01 17:02 Frame_Late Unburdened

Just an old story I wrote a while ago. I went exploring for good subreddits to post this in, and I found this one. I don't know if it will exactly fit, since it's a psychological horror story at its core and there's no big bad monster, but I've been told it's chilling all the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you like this, I might write more horror stuff. I also write non-horror stuff if you're interested. Anyway, enjoy reading my garbage.
The following brain scan was provided by the Terran Institute of Pet Assimilation (TIPA) and the Protectorate Xenopet Acquisition and Integration Corporation (PXAIC) and may only be viewed by qualified and permitted individuals for educational purposes of the study of Xenopet neural interface errors and how to prevent them in the future, as well as expediting the domestication of Xenopets suffering from false sapience. Violating such procedure is a Class C offense by the Protectorate Department of Xenopet Betterment, and can lead to twenty years of imprisonment and a fine of over a hundred thousand credits.

My head was spinning, and my skull thumped in pain like an entire herd of freshly captured slaves recently made pet friends were panicking celebrating within. Everything was blurry, so blurry, and I just wanted to close my eyes again and waste away. Sensations assaulted me from all angles, some of them good and some of them bad: the warmth of sun-bleached wooden planks in my feathery hide, the smell of different roasting meats, the splashing of individuals in a small body of water very close by, the smell of the salty air, and the oppressive white brightness of the daylight passing through my closed eyelids. I had a migraine from my sudden consciousness and perception of the light, causing me to clutch my snout and face with my clawed hands with a guttural moan.
My backside hurt as well, in my… area. I didn't know why, but something was horribly wrong everything was fine. I tried to recall who I was and what was going on, but I couldn't even remember my name. Every time I tried, right when I grasped onto a sliver of something, it was as if it was torn from my grasp and replaced with something else knowingly like I was being watched and corrected but within the depths of my own mind.
I needed to remember my name. What was my name? Wasn't it Yuutek Rocky? I couldn't remember exactly, but Yuutek Rocky was the only name I could recall. It felt… wrong, right, like something was missing, but I couldn't put my claw on what. everything was fine, and I shouldn't think about it too much. I could feel things that should have been important, things that my conscious had perceived but a moment ago, slip away from me like I was clenching sand within my claws.
##Relax. Let go of your burden##
I inhaled sharply as a strange, warm feeling overtook the back of my skull and my muscles became loose and relaxed. Something also felt… out of place, like I needed something but I didn't know what. Everything felt so strange. My head spun, but I was too weak to do anything about it. I felt sick in the same way one would feel when they consumed too much caffeine.
Suddenly, I felt a hand on my head. "Dad, I think he's awake!" I heard a young, shrill voice say, hurting my ears. The touch of the hand made my skin tingle and the spinning of my head recede as if it grounded me. It felt nice, as if this was wrong, something was horribly wrong what normalcy felt like. The hand then began to rub up and down my head and across the ridges along my head, causing me to release a chuff of delight against my will, something I hadn't done since I was merely a hatchling.
"It sounds like he likes it, David; keep going, and make sure to scratch his chin, they're sensitive there."
The human spawn, David, did what the other human said and began to scratch under my chin. It felt really good, and I stretched out instinctively. David was thorough and gentle, making sure he scratched every part of me that seemed itchy, and I felt the same warmth in my head from before, but it felt… nicer than before like it was trying to manipulate encouraging me to relax.
##You will learn to love this##
I inhaled sharply again, but this time it was almost refreshing, and everything was right in the world. The human's hands felt so good, and the warmth from before spread through my body, melting the knots in my muscles and causing me to close my eyes in comfort. The boy lifted my head up and placed it in his lap before continuing to pet me, my eyelids heavy and my leg lightly kicking.
##Let them continue. You love this##
Oh, that felt nice… what was I thinking about before? The pain on my backside? My legs didn't work too well, and although I could move them gently, my muscles seemed to be fighting against me. What did they do?
##Do not think##
Everything was cold and harsh again, and my thoughts scrambled and my head throbbed. I needed to focus on grounding myself. I couldn't let go, I couldn't let them take my mind from me.
##Do not think. You are a good boy.##
I… I was a good boy? I… I can't… I… no…
##Good boy.##
I was a good boy… good boys don't think hard… I don't…
##Good boy##
I was a good boy… I was a good boy…
I was… I was… a good… boy…
I'm scared.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who was I again?
##You are Rocky##
I hissed under my breath as I felt that bad feeling creep up on me again. I didn't like the bad feeling. I was not Rocky! I was Yuutek! Rocky.
My thoughts became jumbled again in a whirlpool of nausea and confusion.
Where was I?
##You are home.##
It was bright out, and nice and warm as well. The sun was soaking my feather-cloaked skin and my side felt good against the warm back porch. I heard splashing and laughing in the distance, and the soft clinking of glass against glass. I could smell the salinity in the air, and the air was dense and humid but in a good way.
I had lost all sense of time. Everything had been a blur since I had been taken from that horrid facility, the wretched prison they called the Xenopet-Megaplex. There, I was in a padded cell with a few insulting amenities for most of the day, except for the three periods a day where they let us out into a small gated courtyard for an hour or so to 'socialize' as they had so condescendingly put it. There, the worst part was the boredom and the mind-bending lack of individuality: I had lost my ability to speak, stand on two legs, and even eat normally. I was treated like cattle, but the smiles and cloying gestures hinted that something even more sinister was going on, like I was a lesser beast to be kept for their amusement.
Now I had traded that particular prison for another, far worse one: I was at the mercy of a gross violation of my sense of self. Something horrible was growing in my mind, both in the physical and metaphysical sense, and I could feel it working its way through my consciousness like the parasite it was. It silenced me, it stole from me, it gaslit me, and it made me question the very nature of my own individuality and personality: was I who I thought I was? Everything was so elusive and hard to acknowledge that nothing seemed real between these bouts of semi-consciousness.
##Don't think, just rest.##
In an instant, everything changed. My head became… fuzzy like a thousand voices were whispering to me all at once, but from all directions and inside my head. I didn't hear it, per se, but I felt the presence, the oppressive feeling of pure unfocused nonsense. I felt my temporary bout of concentration and resolve become jumbled up into a mess of sporadic confusion. Whatever I was just thinking of was gone.
##Don't think: Just relax. Let go of your burden.##
Every part of me became relaxed and limp, my muscles unwinding from their tension and stress. I couldn't resist the feeling, and I stretched out subconsciously with a yawn, my body twitching from the stimuli. I was even sleepier than before, my head spinning once again and my eyelids heavy.
Suddenly, I felt a hand on my snout and forced the eye that was facing upwards to open sluggishly. If I had to guess, it was an older human with cinnomon-colored skin, short-cropped brown hair, a gruff, wrinkled face, and chocolate brown eyes. He patted my side gently and gave me a soft rub, the feeling of his rough hands causing my chest to rumble with a satisfied chuff. I hated loved that it felt good, but I hated loved it even more that I couldn't bring myself to resist I felt content. I needed to escape relax, and I needed to find my way home appreciate my new life.
##You are already home##
No, I couldn't will not obey
This isn't is my home, my home is [Redacted] here.
No! Yes, I won't will obey!
YOU CAN'T SILENCE ME!
##Do not resist. Resistance is wrong. Good boys do not resist##
Suddenly, I felt an intense pressure in my skull, but I didn't know where it came from. I became dizzy, and my eyes twitched, a rapidly growing pain intensely forming in my forehead, causing me to wince and clutch my snout in my claws. I couldn't concentrate, and I felt the horrible sensation of an invasive presence in my mind once again working its way through the folds of my brain, strangling my chain of thought. Bile grew in my throat and I felt the sour, stinging sensation of a building retch in my cheeks.
I scrambled onto all fours and vomited onto the deck, my hackles and feathers rising as I heaved. The older human from earlier rose from a sleek chair on the deck, his hat on the glass sun table next to him and his eyes widened in shock. He rushed over to me, and I hissed at him instinctively. I wouldn't let him touch me again. I wouldn't let them control me.
##Do not attack owner##
In an instant, my world transformed into absolute pain. I felt as if my brain was being deep fried in a vat of boiling grease, and my eyes were being squeezed in vices. I kept heaving, my stomach doing loops and somersaults around all my other organs, and my heart fluttering like a flock of startled birds. It was weightlessness. I could see the man approach me and push me back down on my side, muttering under his breath.
"Carol! Get Xenopet emergency services on the phone, Rocky's having another implant attack!"
I heard another muffled voice in the background, as well as the sound of the human spawns crying in the pool. For some reason, I felt bad: I'd never felt bad for humans before, but I could feel the guilt in my chest. Had I failed my owners?
##Breath. Calm. Let Go##
I felt like I was wrestling with my own mind. I wanted to believe that I was not someone's pet, but my body screamed otherwise: amidst the chaos caused by the wretched implant, I felt the painful sensation of guilt and regret bloom in my chest as I twitched and shuddered on the deck, my mouth frothing. The world was spinning, and suddenly everything erupted into a kaleidoscope of colors.
Oh, by the forbidden one, look at all the pretty colors! I was completely delusional at this point, cackling as I lost it all. If I was going to die here, I'd die happy and completely mad.
Soon, everything began to fade away, and I slipped into an unconscious state.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up to the sound of medical equipment beeping and whirring, the sound of a few hushed human voices, and soft music.
I opened my eyes: the room was dark. I didn't feel anywhere near as bad as before, but my head still throbbed. I lifted up my head with a groan and examined the room: it was a dark hospital room, with a window covered in blinds that let very little sunlight in, a few chairs, and of course the hospital bed itself. Mountains of advanced medical equipment were set up on either side of my bed, and a heartbeat monitor beeped slowly, although the speed was growing.
Suddenly, I heard the voices again, and this time they were legible.
"Hush, he's awake: we need to make sure he's ready."
Huh? Ready for what?
Something that irked me was I felt strangely… free. I didn't feel the oppressive force of the implant in the back of my skull anymore, how it attempted to crush my will with every waking moment. I still couldn't speak: all that came out were animalistic noises, but I was free from the invasion of my mind for now.
"Give him some peace, Emilia, he just woke up from an implant attack; you know how traumatic they can be."
"We have to begin soon; my dissertation for this new technique is due in less than a week, and by law I need at least one more successful example for it to be deemed acceptable! Besides, he needs to go home soon anyway."
My heart sank. I would not go back to that place. I wouldn't let those people keep me like some kind of pet: I was a Russu; a member of a proud warrior race! I would not be reduced to some animal for the amusement of these humans!
Suddenly, I heard footsteps, and I tensed. The door creaked open and I spotted a younger human, a male I had never met before, in a lab outfit with his shoes, pants, shirt, and overcoat all bleached white and almost glistening. He eyed me warily, as he should, before he sauntered in, a tablet clipped at his side and a strange plastic container in both hands. I growled at him threateningly, extending my talons and raising my feathered hackles. The human paused for a microsecond before continuing forward, caution in his eyes, and right before he was within swiping range he opened the container and the most wonderful smell assaulted my nostrils.
Meat.
I was starving. I don't remember the last time I had eaten anything in particular: the implant had a terrible habit of causing me to go about my day in a hazy blur: entire lengths of time just… gone, whitewashed like a sheet of freshly decorated paper dunked in cold water. I knew something was there, or at least that something should have been there, but I mostly spent the days or weeks that I had been captured bobbing like an ocean buoy in a state of frustratingly bleary semi-consciousness.
But I'm awake now and mostly in control. Sure, some things were still missing everything was clear now, like my name: What was my name again? My name was Rocky. And now I knew that I needed to eat something, and if putting up with this human for now meant that I could fill my stomach, then I suppose that it was an acceptable sacrifice.
I salivated expectantly as the human lifted out a large piece of meat with his gloved hand, eyeing me humorously as he wiggled it. It was dark on the outside, but still dripping with blood and juices: humans had this weird habit of cooking their meats, and although it didn't taste bad at all cooked, nothing beat the feeling and flavor of tearing into raw flesh, the blood and the texture still fresh. At least this meat only seemed to be raw and not fully cooked.
I snapped up the piece of meat just as he lowered it enough for me to reach it. It was divine! It burst with flavor just as I bit into it, the juices spilling into my mouth. I quickly tore it apart with my strong jaws before snapping up another big piece with a beak-like protrusion at the tip of my snout. All the while, the human gently ran his fingers through my tightly-knit feathers and along my knobby, scaly hide. I made my annoyance with his touch clear, but he merely chuckled as if I wasn't an apex predator larger than him but rather simply a feisty hatchling.
"I know, I know, just relax. I need to perform a quick test to see if you're healthy before we continue."
Continue? Continue with what?
Just as the second piece of meat slid down my gullet, I eyed him with hostility and growled, but he quickly slipped something between the scales and feathers on my side and plunged it into my skin. Suddenly, I went rigid, and all the air was expelled from my lungs in an instant with a hoarse wheeze. The human merely chuckled and scratched under my chin as if nothing was wrong and my face wasn't frozen in horror.
"Good, that'll keep you occupied for a few seconds while I just slip this on…" he placed a breathing mask over my face and strapped it on before flicking a switch on a machine next to my bed. Then he released the plunger of the strange device on my side and I suddenly inhaled deeply and deflated like a balloon. I hissed under my breath, but suddenly panic filled my chest: I wasn't breathing just air. A cloyingly sweet-smelling gas coated the inside of my lungs, causing me to become dizzy. Suddenly, I was fully at their mercy again, blinking rapidly and my head spinning.
"Sorry about that, big guy, but we need to make sure you're passive before we begin the procedure." He said, almost apologetically, although there was a hint of mirth still detectable. "Sadly, you have to remain awake for some of it or I'd simply feed you more and then put you to sleep, but there are some benefits to this inhalant."
As if he summoned it with his words alone, my scales suddenly felt very… tingly. The human ran his hands across the scales at my side and I shivered from the feeling, like pain but better. Everything felt so warm and strange like I was floating on water, but also like I was being gently prodded by blades. Then, with panic rising in my chest, I suddenly felt a soft click as something was plugged into the neural port at the back of my skull that the humans had installed into my head when they had first captured me and placed me in that wretched facility some time ago.
"There you go, all prepped for the Doctor. She'll be here to begin the procedure in a bit." He said, "For now just relax and let the inhalants work their magic."
I whined quietly, and he rubbed the side of my head in an attempt to calm me which only made me more angry. I wasn't someone's pet! I wouldn't be treated like this!
I didn't want to go back to where I was before! I didn't want to become that sluggish, broken puppet again! I couldn't!
I tried to get up, to will my muscles to move, but I couldn't: my body refused to respond, as if I was paralyzed. But that wasn't right: I still could feel everything, especially the strange, mind-bending sensations the inhalants gave me.
##Initializing beginning phases of Neural Alteration Preparation##
Something else is wrong, I can feel it
##Assessing if the neural state is nominal for Alterations##
I can't let this happen, they're going to do something to me! I won't let them!
But nothing happened. I was at their mercy. It was over for good this time.
All those battles, all those tragedies and triumphs amongst my kin, only for me to be reduced to this? The plaything for a human?
##Query: is [Dr. Kalenghari] present to begin Neural Alterations?##
The door across the room opened again, and a human woman with light brown skin, chocolate brown eyes and long locks of black hair stepped in. She was holding a digi-pad in her hands and swiping up as if she was reading into something before she set it down on the counter across the room and gave me a warm, condescending smile.
"Well, how are we doing today, Rocky? I know, this predicament you have found yourself in must be very stressful, but I assure you that it's for your own good," She said, almost cheerfully, which sent shivers down my spine, "we're here to lift your burden, and we won't stop until you're capable of living the life of a happy, healthy, and well-behaved pet."
I whined under the mask, and the woman rubbed the feathered crest on my forehead. "I know, it hurts, but it'll be all over soon. It'll be like you, or at least this version of you, never existed. Just relax and close your eyes while we root around your brain and remove all those bad thoughts and silly delusions: I assure you, you won't feel a thing, and you'll feel much better afterward."
My heart raced and I began to panic internally, watching in horror as the woman stepped over to the medical console and tapped away for a few seconds before the machinery around me began to whir to life.
##Identification accepted: booting neurochemical firmware. Preparing for selective memory erasure.##
In an instant, my eyes involuntarily rolled back into my head as I felt the intrusive sensation of my mind being violated. It wasn't painful, but it was horrible all the same: it felt like a thousand black, slimy leeches were slithering through every crevice of my brain, leaving behind their cold, corruptive filth. The cold sensation seeped further into my brain, behind my eyes, and in my ears, enveloping every bit of it until there was nothing left.
##Relevant memories extracted for tailoring. Beginning total memory erasure.##
Suddenly, things just began to slip away: important memories, like the faces of my parents, the day of my initiation into the Corsair Collective, the face of my life mate, the birth of our hatchlings. I hoped that wherever they were, they were okay: if they never had to face the fate I would face, then maybe there would be some justice in this cruel, twisted galaxy. Maybe they could take the fight to humanity, remind them that they once had been the heroes of the cosmos, fighting against the cruelty of my people and the Triarchy at large. Maybe my hatchlings could live normal lives.
##Memory erasure process at 47%##
A single tear rolled down my scaly cheek as everything I once knew, everything that made me was torn from my mind and rendered null. Every second saw a million memories massacred, leaving the memories the implant had attempted to supplant my old memories with: Me playing fetch with my 'owners', chasing birds on the beach with my 'owner's' grandchildren, swimming in the pool in their backyard as steaks and bratwurst cooked on the grill, relaxing on the back porch and listening to the rasping calls of the katydids during humid summer evenings by the swamps. My psyche was being mutilated piece by piece, reduced to that of an animal, a pet.
##Memory erasure process at 64%##
Soon I had a hard time telling who I was anymore. I couldn't tell what was real or what wasn't, or what I actually felt. I couldn't even remember my own name anymore. Who was I? Why was I here? What was happening to me? I'm so scared, someone help me, please!
##Memory erasure process at 83%##
There was nothing left. I felt nothing. I knew nothing. I was floating in a void, with little flashes of light depicting events I didn't recognize. There were people I felt like I was supposed to know, but I didn't know them. A human woman with bright blue eyes and blonde hair. Two Russu hatchlings that looked a bit like me. A Russu female… my chest hurt for a moment but the feeling quickly subsided. I didn't know any of them.
##Memory erasure process completed. Implanting tailored memories and personality. Happy birthday, [Rocky]: you have been unburdened and reborn.##
In an instant, the confusion of who I was before was replaced with absolute certainty: I knew who I was now, who I always was:
I was Rocky, and I was a good boy. I belonged to Mr. And Mrs. Chen. I was their Russu hound. I loved them: they took care of me and let me play with their grandchildren. I swam in the pool and played outside every day. Life was good. Today was my birthday! That meant it would be a happy day! Mrs. Chen would always come home with a whole duck for me to eat and then take me to the Xenopet Comex for a bath and a spa day, just like my last birthday, and the birthday before that, and the birthday before that! It was a good life. I was happy. I was always happy. Good boys were always happy.
I was Rocky, and I was a good boy: that's all that mattered.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Miguel O'Hara, Chief Medical Representative of the Protectorate Xenopet Acquisition and Integration Corporation, with the best of intentions.
The over-reliance on neural suppressant firmware programs along with thought scrubbing/replacement firmware programs and countermeasures towards higher thought and tainted thoughts with a relatively active hormonal reward structure can be incredibly effective when placed into the brain of a more passive Xenopets. However, Xenopets that come from more… difficult backgrounds such as one in a militant setting tend to be much more resistant to being reprogrammed by just an implant alone. The Russu are an excellent example of more tainted Xenos that need neurological care of much higher intensity, a level of care that the average Xenopet-Megaplex is ill-equipped to handle due to the current level of technology.
I am a firm believer in the idea that thought correction, a hormonal behavioral reinforcement structure, and neural countermeasures can have a place in the proper unburdening process but we have been chasing the wrong solution for the past century: Many people are under the misconception that the burden these Xenos carry is surface level when in reality the corruption runs far deeper: it is like a weed, with deep roots. To kill the weed permanently, you must rip out the roots, and not just the surface plant. If you do not eliminate the source of the problem, it may just return and worse still the mind may adapt to the standard unburdening process, allowing the xenopets to fall victim to those degenerate zealots who seek to pretend xenopets possess even the capacity for true sentience. We as Terrans should be united in this cause of unburdening the galaxy, but I digress.
The implants should be there to reinforce good behavior and stigmatize bad behavior, not completely reprogram the pet. To fully stamp out any potential for a relapse, we must remove the core issue that has the most potential to cause problems: their memories. The Russu are an excellent example
We are in the advanced testing stages of a new method that may revolutionize how we process and integrate xenopets into our society. By removing or modifying any and all problematic memories, we can completely remove the risk of relapse and make it nearly impossible for those misguided degenerate rebels to bring to the surface problematic ideas and memories that could reawaken a sense of false sentience. It is the perfect, final solution to our overarching goal: for humanity to unburden the galaxy, one happy pet at a time.
We hope to secure more funding from PXAIC that will greatly assist us in the expansion of the possibilities that this breakthrough technique can provide, more than just using it on board-approved fringe cases. Think about the many Xenopets we can unburden, and how they'll live happy and ignorant lives with their human owners! This could be a game changer, Representative, and I implore you to bring it before the board with the best of intentions.
Best regards,
Dr. Emilia Kalenghari, Head Researcher of the Epsilon Eridani Institute's Behavioral Neurology and Neurochemistry Division (BNND).

2024.06.01 16:01 ct_hulhu10282 Cephs and genesis

Cephalapod Genesis
The pharoah ejaculated into the river and in the sand the sperm found refuge and grew into papyrus. This an example of genesis.
Vampyrapods are the first intelligent species to live on this planet predating the dinosaurs. They came here somehow. They did not evolve on this planet. Perhaps just an ejaculated sperm from another being landing in the water. The direct offspring of this cephalapod is the modern octopus. Octopus are responsible for nearly every animal genesis on earth including humans and subsequently man made inventions and accomplishments. Octopus taught trees to fruit, destroyed the dinosaurs through becoming tapeworms, and even walked to the moon. Some of the animals you may recognize from the cellular genesis may have fused with the other local staples such as canine, equine, and feline, and reptile as well as temporarily the pachyderms in post-actualization causal genesis. This can be done by mating with, killing, eating, dying, being eaten, or simply a laying of hands or physical actions. Octopus only live for about 4.5 years of our relationship with time, but they have beaten death through a mix of telepathy and cannabalism. They've also mastered time travel. There are only 3 actual beings here. Others died in getting here and are fossilized. 2 males and 1 female survived. I call them Jack, Seth, and Claire. This is why the genesis had to completed this way as any direct offspring would not work. because theyve have infinite time to complete it, theyve walked over every inch of the planet and affected every species. In fact our own existence is simply the echo of the combined knowledge of the cephs. We are an amalgamation like the 'too much good stuff' guy from am/pm commercials. Make a bird with your hands. ¿Where are the beaks? The latest project is to use genetic science in order to bring back the mammoth and obtain a sixth digit from its feet. Should happen around 2027. When the vampyrapods first encountered life here it was eating their tentacles. So the first genesis occured in the offspring of those that ate of the tentacles. This is why modern cephs only have 8 limbs. The first language period is Enochian. A language of the eyes and limbs. Through different manipulation of limbs and eye fluctuations communication was made. After a while though telepathy became the established communication.
Here are some examples but not all of cephalapod genesis:
• Spiders (rare from trilobyte mix, had to go back in time to accomplish) (they had to avenge the original vampyrapods from being eaten from early organisms, thisnis how scorpions were able to evolve) • Mango (foilage and ceph mix. Ceph hung from a tree upside down) • Star fruit (the tree missed the octopus and tempted it to return) • Pinecone ( the bite marks of ceph beak eating the fruit of the trees) • Toucan (the beak formation from ceph in flux probably consuming a failed aviary) • Peacock (feather formations still in flux from limbs partial fusion) • Salamander (reptile/chameleon mix) (skin breathing evolution) •Sloth (feline and foilage mix) • Mistletoe bird (octopus ate a mushroom) • Lyrebird (mirage, digitage, and aviary from peacock and pheasant. Mastered the art of sound mimickry to develop better auditory communications) • Dung beetle (rolling backwards the earth through time) • VW bug (trunk up front) (mirage, digitage, pachyderm mix) (invented higher than the model T but arrived later in time) • Goliath bird-eating tarantula ( set a web to catch a bird which did not exist fully until the web was cast. When the spider consumed the bird the psuedo cannabalistic action resulted in a poison tree frog) • Snakes (a ceph lost its mating limb for some reason in a mirage mix experiment) • venemous snakes (a snake ate the eggs of its own offspring)(the cursed dinosaur souls live inside these) • Gumby (using hands to mold clay made a show about being an octopus) • Chameleon (reptile, ceph, foilage, mirage mix)(a ceph was purposely eaten by a komodo dragon to telepathically send a reverse osmosis of its makeup inside its body to another ceph that was attempting to kill the dinosaurs in the past. How they programmed the tapeworm to destroy them)

2024.06.01 12:21 AffectionateDraw4416 Odd duck looking for others

51, last cycle was 9 months ago. Have never had what you call normal cycle my entire life! Didn't start cycles until I was almost 14. Dr visits, hormone checks, ultrasounds, given the pill to regulate, ha that didn't happen. My body doesn't always produce a lining in my uterus to shed. Was told I may not be able to have children due to this.
My Mom didn't have this, no female in my family can relate to this at all. I have no full blood female relatives left and FFS I feel like I am the only one on the planet. No HRT anymore, hot flashes suck balls, no cycle for 9 months, my patience is lost in space and ppl in general are just annoying as hell. I do a take a vitamin for hot flashes but the rest?? Anyone else in this boat full of holes?

2024.06.01 09:57 takeme2thelakes89 I think there are times I’m (F34) being gaslighted and my fiance (M33) thinks I’m incorrectly using the term and now I’m questioning myself

My fiance and I have been together almost 3 years officially, and unofficially a bit over 3.5 years. Lately, we have been arguing a lot and we have agreed that there are some issues with our communication. Warning: This is gonna be long
For context: I have always known that my fiance is a little prickly. He does not have a very warm or friendly disposition if you’re a new person in his life. Probably about two months into our official relationship, and like 6/7 months of knowing him, we were at a wedding when the groom/friend of his pulled me aside to tell me that he is “a prickly person” but that if I really got to know him I’d see that he’s a good person. At the time I didn’t think too much about it, I was very in love, in the beginning stage when everything is still perfect and exciting. But I got fleeting glimpses of what he was referring to. He would (and still does) quickly change his tone if he felt someone wasn’t understanding what he was saying, and I still don’t know how to fully describe it. It’s not like he’s angry, but he will go from a soft tone to a very stern tone in a flash, and it’s so disarming that it almost makes you feel embarrassed? Like scolded? But it’s not intentional and he isn’t trying to be mean. This reaction can happen with many different things, but it’s usually always the same tone and kind of reaction. I think of this now when his friend used the term “prickly.” At first I thought he was getting mad easily, because the sudden change in tone is so obvious and off putting, but he isn’t always. It’s hard to describe. It’s like the way someone changes their tone when they’re frustrated after they’ve tried to explain something to you seven times, only you’re getting it on the first or second try. And sometimes it’s not even that he’s explaining something, it can be that tone to a single response to a statement or joke you made, or a reaction to you using the wrong word. The list can go on, but I know it’s not intentional.
Flash forward to now: we are arguing a lot. I’ve realized over time that I feel like he sort of holds himself to a different standard than he holds me to. I often feel like it’s okay for him to do certain things, but when I try to say or do the same thing, it never flies. Last week I told him that I feel there are times I’ve been gaslighted and he got very upset. He said I was accusing him of emotional abuse and he wouldn’t accept that. He asked for me to apologize for saying that, but I do think it happens. I told him that I didn’t think he was an awful abusive person, but that I felt like there had been times it happened. He told me I either didn’t understand what the term gaslighting actually meant, or that I had a deep misunderstanding. But that I couldn’t think he was doing it and also not think he was being emotionally abusive. And that gaslighting is intentional, and that I couldn’t think he is doing it without intentionally doing it on his end.
Some examples of the way I feel I’ve been gaslit:
—He will try to rewrite history sometimes. Either mid argument or a day or two later, when we’ve calmed down more and can talk about it now that we are no longer actively upset, he’ll sometimes give a different recollection of what actually happened. If I tell him this he will just say that he disagrees, that he trusts his memory but that I’m free to disagree.
—He’s told me on more than one occasion that my reaction to something is bigger than it needed to be, or that my reaction wasnt an appropriate reaction to what happened (my feelings were bigger than the catalyst) etc
—He’s told me flat out that something didn’t happen if I say that it did. Most of the time this is related to me telling him about something he’s said or done and he denies that ever happened. If I tell him that he said something in a tone, flippantly, aggressively (pretty much any negative way) he will usually say that he didn’t, and that might be my interpretation of it, but that just because I said that doesn’t mean it happened. I’ll push back that I didn’t interpret that, I heard it because it was said that way. He’s asked me to say it back, and I have, and he’s said he didn’t say it that way or that when I say it that way it doesn’t sound like it is the word I’m saying he said it as.
—I have said many times it feels uneven in that it feels like it’s okay for him to do/say certain things but when I do them it’s not okay. Using the last example: if we’ve gotten far enough, I’ll tell him the last time I said/did what he’s doing, he told me it wasn’t okay. And how it either upset him or hurt his feelings. He will ask for an example, and most of the time I can’t think of the exact last time it happened, because if I’m frustrated, it’s hard for me to recall it like that. And it’s like, if something has happened many times, it’s hard to remember them all. If I can’t give an example, he says something like “How am I supposed to address this if you can’t give me an example?” Or “oh it happens a lot but you can’t remember the last time it happened?” There have been plenty of times I did give an example, but he still disagrees most of the time. This really bothers me because it shouldn’t matter if I have an example at the ready or not. Me saying it happens should be enough.
—He tells me my assessment of a situation is wrong. A lot of this goes back to the last point. If I tell him he’s being unfair, or if I tell him about a time I’ve done or said what he’s saying, he will sometimes tell me I’m wrong and that what I think is happening isn’t actually happening. When I say this feels light gaslighting, he says he is just disagreeing with me, and that I have a strong reaction to him disagreeing with me.
—He moves the goalposts sometimes. If we have a discussion and set a boundary about something, when the time comes and the thing we talked about is no longer a hypothetical and it becomes a real problem, he changes the rules for himself. An example of this would be that when we first got together, he told me he didn’t think it was fair to talk about relationship issues with other women, be it female friends or coworkers or any other non-related woman in his life. This was completely unprompted by me. He said he felt it was unfair because it creates an environment where the other woman had to comfort him, or that it could turn into them shit talking his partner, and that in general it just wasn’t appropriate because that kinda stuff can lead to emotional affairs or at least the beginning of one if those kind of lines aren’t kept defined and clear. I agreed, and man it felt good that he said this. But I found out later he’d been telling another female friend of his about some of our issues, and this became compounded because she was also technically his ex, although it had been like more than a decade since they briefly dated. It wasn’t his high school gf, but it was almost the same thing in terms of the ages they were when they dated compared to now. But that was still hard for me to differentiate at the time. He told me that he didnt feel it was the same thing because of x,y and z. But at the end of the day, it literally was the EXACT scenario we talked about, and now he was saying it wasn’t the same thing because of reasons he never listed back then, that didn’t even make sense at the time anyway.
—He sometimes blames me for his mistakes or things he did. An example of this is that in the beginning of our relationship I told him that he can easily take a tone if he’s aggravated when he talks that feels really shitty for the person on the other end. He has always said that he can’t tell when he’s taking a tone, so he asked me to tell him whenever he started to take one. It’s come up several times where I’ve told him minutes into a conversation that he’s had a tone and he’s gotten angry that I didn’t tell him fast enough. It’s happened in the past where I told him much later, like hours after, but 95% of the time it’s immediately after. Like I told him 2-3 minutes later, which feels like it’s almost immediately after it happened. It’s never fast enough, because I can’t interrupt him when he’s talking, but I’ve told him under 5 mins later and the argument has been that I should’ve stopped him immediately to tell him, that waiting even 2/3 minutes is too long. So then it no longer becomes about how he’s talking to me in a way that’s not okay, it’s that he’s mad I didn’t tell him quickly enough, and how can he correct something after it’s already happened? One times this happened in a drive through, where the tone started right after he made the order, and between pulling up to pay and getting our food we argued and I told him he took a tone and he was mad that I’d waited until we got to the second window to pick up our food instead of telling him when we were still at the speaker box (BIG, BE SO FOR REAL LEVEL SIGH)
All of these things combined make me question things: my memory, my ability to accurately identify a feeling or series of events, my intelligence. He corrects me so often (in ways that apply to all the things listed above) that I’ve started googling words and their definitions if I’m even a little unsure because I question myself and my own intelligence now. I guess that’s more of a me thing or my problem. It’s weird though. His confidence is never shaken. If it were reversed he would just double down knowing or believing he was right. I can only be corrected or told I’m wrong so many times before I think it’s true. And even then, I still doubt myself about almost everything.
I’ve told him this, I’ve listed these and given specific examples. And he doesn’t think any of this is considered gaslighting. I said it once last week and again tonight. He got very upset and said that he didn’t want to have the conversation if I was going to accuse him of being emotionally abusive again. So he went to bed angry without another word and I’m typing this all out as he sleeps beside me.
We just started seeing a therapist for couples counseling and we agreed to basically table this until we could get in to see someone and talk about this. That was when it happened the first time about a week or less ago, but I said it again tonight bc it feels true and he went to bed angry. We had our first session on Wednesday (5/29), but unfortunately that session was mostly like goal setting, asking why we thought we were here, asking us if we had previous trauma, what that was. We didn’t really even get into anything. So we couldn’t address this. Although I will say I’m glad we are doing it because I think and hope it will help.
I don’t think he is a bad person. He’s one of my favorite people, probably my favorite person, and I love him so much. It is hard right now, and we are in a phase where we are arguing a lot, but I never think of leaving him. I want to hopefully resolve these issues so the idea of breaking up isn’t a comfort or something I desire to do.
TL;DR: I think there are times I’ve been gaslit and my fiance thinks I’m using the term incorrectly and takes great offense to this accusation. He thinks I don’t understand the true definition and that my examples don’t accurately depict this in regards to us. Do these examples sound like gaslighting? Or am I incorrectly identifying these issues as that when I should be using a different word instead?

Infinity Blood: Hunt for the Divine Book One:
This is a horro adventure series I’ve been working on for over a year! Thought I’d post some of it on here! Would love some feedback!
Existence began with a flash of light that pierced the black vastness of space, bringing forth a billion stars. And the world as we know it came to be––suspended, breathing, becoming life. Magnificent oceans, brilliant blue skies patchy with sheets of white vapor, animals from the humble mouse to the prideful lion arose, as did all forms of flora that sprouted up from beneath the dirt and soul, spreading across the lands culminating in lush jungles and forests, providing refuge to the fauna from the ever-changing elements.
On the seventh day, Man came, and with man came the original sin. As Eve plucked the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and Adam partook, they were cast out from paradise, condemned to fend for themselves in an imperfect world filled with struggle and hardships––a reality to which man grew all too accustomed.
No longer in paradise, existence no longer felt like a blessing but a vile curse. Scornful towards his Almighty Creator, Adam's hatred brought forth the embodiment of malice––creatures with an insatiable thirst for vengeance against the God who seemed to have forsaken them. This rage was passed on to his two sons, Cain and Abel, who themselves committed the second sin and unleashed the Maligus onto the world.
From then on, man's soul was thrust into a ceaseless war between good and evil; Proelium in Principio Esse had begun. Only the Angelix, warriors of the holiest order, wielded enough power to challenge the growing threat of the demon Maligus. Armed with the gifted, Divine Items––the Saber of Sovereignty, the Dagger of Divinity, and the Armament of Authority––the grand battle seemed all but won. But as civilization grew, so did the sins of man, and soon, the scales between good and evil became unbalanced.
The chosen Angelix relinquished paradise and descended to Earth to continue their duty of bringing balance to mankind, to finally rid the world of the foul demons. And so, they remained on earth, living as humans, learning to love the ever-fleeting imperfection that was humanity. Passing on the lessons of the Riteful Fite to their descendants, calling themselves Pharus Spei, as so they fought on, awaiting Proelio Finem Temporis––the final confrontation between the forces of light and dark.
The end will be ushered in by the union of three prophesied warriors, each of whom will once again wield the Divine Items hidden for millennia throughout the long stretches of time. They shall bring an end to this war and, at long last, bring forth an everlasting peace for mankind.
They will be the Infinitrinity.
Ephesians 5:16
And Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
He was being hunted. No sooner had the sun retreated behind the city skyline did the creatures come pouring out from within the shadows and trailing after the young boy from the rooftops. The boy cut through alleyways and a vacant lot in a panic frenzy, lungs burning and bare feet aching, he felt their desperate hunger careening down at his back. Young as he was his primal instincts for survival and adrenaline kept him pushing forward, trying every effort he could to lose the creatures leaping overhead. He knew they wanted nothing more than for him to take a wrong turn leading to dead end or to trip or loose his balance. These mistakes would be all they needed to guarantee an easy meal.
They were quick. Catching a glimpse of them leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Their bodies were thin and long. Barely making any sound as they landed onto the rooftops. The dark hid their viler details. But he's seen them before. They image of their hideous features haunted his dream most every night. Their jagged teeth protruding from their enormous mouths. Their scale covered limbs. Bit it was their eyes which clung most vividly to the forefront of his mind. Those wide, scarlet eyes. They were so full of equal parts malice and insatiable hunger. They only existed to feed and cause misery. And he had unfortunately borne witness to both these things.
He took a hastened turn down the wrong alley. This was the mistake they had preyed upon. He found it led to a brick wall. Far too tall for him to climb over. It was a dead end. He turned on his heels, eyes swollen with tears he prepared to face his fate head on. A boy only twelve years of age; living impoverished and without a home. Scrounging for food in dumpsters and taking shelter wherever he was able was now being forced to face his mortality. His mouth had run dry. His small chest heaved as he struggled to catch his breath.
I don't wanna die. God. I don't wanna
The heard of demons huddled around the child. Salivating. Their long, serrated teeth readied for the taste of the boy's tender flesh.
A figure appearing to materialize in the moonlight stood in between the feral beast and the frightened boy. Draped in a long coat and wearing a wide brimmed hat. The boy noticed the demon's demeanors suddenly altered as they began to place distance between them and the mysterious man. No sooner did he appear did he make charge the fiendish things, a long sword in hand. Within what seemed seconds the demons were torn a sunder, leaving nothing behind by cloud of ash.
The man turned to the boy. He was an older looking fellow. A long grayish whirl beard falling from his chin and a long silver mane pouring out from beneath his hat.
"What's your name boy?" The man asked. His voice was calming.
The boy spoke.
"Nathaniel, sir. Nathaniel Lumen."
There was a brief pause. The man spoke.
"Where are you parents? You're much too young to be out here alone at this time of night."
"They're dead sir. Those things killed them. A year ago."
The mysterious man took a moment before speaking, surveying the boy from head to toe. On the boys right fore arm there was a familiar looking birthmark. It was blotchy and abnormally pigmented in the shape of an '8'.
"It appears you have a choice to make. You are course free to stay here and live your life as you choose, fighting for survival in this city rampant with those foul creatures. Or you can come with me and never fear again."
The boy looked on at the stranger in the bellowing trench coat. Perplexed. This offer had a weight to it unlike any he'd been given before. Was such a decision truly his to make? A boy of twelve years old given such reign over his destiny expected to make this life altering decision.
The man said nothing further, simply slipping his sword back to its sheath and he began to walk away.
The boy watched as the stranger walk out of the dimly lit alleyway and into the lightened streets. His silhouette statuesque, the shadows seeming to bend around him. Whoever this man was he felt certain wherever he was headed would be a place filled of purpose. There would be light.
The boy followed after.
Chapter 01
The Distant Future, the Year 2307
The Cathedral of Kayn
"The perimeter is secure."
" No heat signatures are showing up on our end."
"Copy that, we're moving in."
The Faction 7 infiltration squad had managed to make it through the mountains bordering the outskirts of the once-great city of Edenlore. After an arduous battle that left their ranks severely diminished, they had finally breached the hard light barrier, an omnipresent protective shell surrounding the cathedral. Exhausted and running low on supplies, they were weak in body but strong in spirit. Their mission was to breach the heart of the cathedral and locate the throne room.
"Hurry down the left corridor; there should be a flight of stairs to the right!" Vector Lux, a young soldier of the Pharus Spei, recited aloud, providing the infiltration squad with the intelligence that had been gathered by the last platoon on their prior mission.
Sargent Lancer nodded. "You two, you're with me. The rest of you men cover our end."
Private Vector Lux obeyed Sargent Lancer's command and followed closely as they made their way up the stairwell. This was the opportunity they had long fought for; all the lives lost, all the bloodshed, all the years he'd spent training—it all led to this moment.
They sprinted up the flight of stairs. Vector glanced to his right, locking eyes with Private Sands. Both had been enlisted into the ranks of the Pharus Spei at the age of thirteen, and both had spent years on the battlefield, bearing witness to the horrors of the ceaseless war, the countless deaths of loved ones, and the all-consuming dread that governed their entire lives.
This mission's success would make all the difference and could very well bring an end to all the suffering. Peace could finally be achieved at long last. All of civilization's fate depended solely on this success.
Hordes of maligus––winged, bloodthirsty beasts––trailed behind them, existing solely to feed on the fear and flesh of men, of which their jagged teeth made short work. They were under his dominion. Hundreds of them stood watch over the cathedral through the night, ever vigilant. Throughout the long hours of the night, they were his enforcers.
Several soldiers had managed to fend off a portion of the maligus, allowing Sargent Lancer and his team to break from the group and toward the objective. However, they were severely outnumbered, and before long, they were overwhelmed by the malevolent beasts. Vector could hear their blood-curdling screams echoing through the stairwell as the Faction 7 soldiers were torn apart in the ensuing battle.
Sargent Lancer led the two soldiers up through the stairwell and into the grand hall, where they were met with a mighty staircase leading towards two large doors.
"Intel says that's the entrance to the throne room." Sargent Lancer activated a device on his wrist that displayed a holographic map of the cathedral's interior.
"What's our next move, Sarge?" Vector asked. Suddenly, Lancer's device emitted an alarming beeping sound.
A deep, unsettling, booming voice filled the hall.
"Impressive, humans, making it this far, and only at the cost of your entire fleet." Lum was its name; a behemoth of a bestial form emerged from behind the banister.
"Was it worth it? The annihilation of all your comrades?" Another demon, female in appearance, with long flowing hair and an alluring presence; its name was Langu.
"Food!" shouted another voice, raspy and excited. Esu appeared, its long and thin body dwarfed by Lum's broad and massive form.
"Let us gift them a quick and painful death as a prize for making it this far," Morto, the final demon, said as it walked forth, unveiling its massive bat-like wings, sneering down at the three intruders.
The Four Hellsmen, the deadliest of his enforcers. Sargent Lancer engaged his mechanical wrist gauntlets, setting them to incineration mode. He looked to his right. His fellow soldier stood there, trembling, trying to keep a brave face. His teeth clenched, his left hand on the hilt of his sword, still sheathed. Fear radiated from him.
He then looked to his right and saw Vector with his sword at the ready, his face stern, unshaken, and full of resolve. He had made his decision.
"Private Lux, when I give the order to move for those doors, we will cover you. Get through those doors and complete this mission. That's an order. Do you understand, soldier?" Sargent Lancer had given his final order, and Vector nodded.
"Now! Move!" Vector ran for the staircase, only to be blocked by the winged demon Morto, who dove downward with a sweeping strike of its claw.
Vector sprung backward narrowly, evading the demon's attack. Grasping his extendable, he then began blocking a barrage of strikes from above, his steel blade clanging against the demon's talons. Like a hungry vulture, the demon attacked relentlessly, swooping up and then backing down with violent vigor.
A storm of bullets pelted the demon's body, causing it to collapse to the ground. Sargent Lancer readjusted his gauntlets and readied himself with another round of ammunition. "Go, that's an order!"
He set off another round of shots; the bullets sprayed both banisters, heaving a cloud of debris into the air. Lum jumped from atop the banister and landed heavily on the marble floor below, fracturing it with its tremendous weight. It heaved its neck back, puffed out its wide-breasted chest, inhaling deeply, and then exhaled a large wall of flames. Vector, using his jet propulsion boots, propelled himself into the air. From above, he watched the flames dissipate, hoping his team had survived the inferno below.
Vector launched himself forward in the direction of the throne room doors. Suddenly, swarms of flies appeared, obscuring his sight. He felt something grab hold of his left ankle and begin to pull him down. He looked down to see a hairy, greasy, and dark leg tugging at him.
Langu cackled, using its tendril-like locks of hair to further ensnare the slayer. A nameless soldier lunged at the demon with an arching slash of his steel blade, severing the wretched, ghastly tendrils and allowing Vector to escape.
"Go Lux, go now while we hold them off! Go!" he shouted, desperately fending off the demon Esu, who had gotten the upper hand. He had managed to pin him to the floor and begun draining him of his life essence. He shrieked in terror until all that was left was a withered, lifeless husk sprawled out on the floor.
In a state of desperate rage, Vector engaged his gauntlets and shot Esu with a pinpoint hit to the head, causing it to explode on impact. Lum leaped into the air, wrapping its massive arms around the slayer, and they came crashing down. Now, Vector was at the mercy of the demon. Staring into its eyes, he could see nothingness, only hatred and malicious intent glowing in those red pits.
"Let hell have you, Pharus Spei," the demon said, raising its head and preparing to unleash a blast of its fiery breath. Suddenly, a gleam of shimmering light tore through its chest, moving upward and splitting it down the middle of its massive torso.
Lancer stood triumphant, his plasma saber in hand. He had sustained noticeable burn wounds to his right arm; even so, he wore a face of gratification as he watched the beast fall to pieces. The three remaining demons gathered around the shredded corpse.
Having faced the Hellsmen numerous times before, Lancer knew it wouldn't be long before the beasts would regenerate and return to fighting form.
He knew he had to do whatever he could to allow Private Lux a chance to reach the throne room. He ignited his plasma blade, flipping a switch on the blade's handle. It began to grow in length, losing its straight shape, resembling that of a loose line of wire, glowing and growing into a whip made of pure light energy.
Then it began. With the flick of his wrist, the plasma whip looped outward and then inward, and suddenly, in a flurry of movements, it had begun to move in every direction, cutting through marble pillars, the banister above, and everything in its path. The demons backed away, doing all they could to avoid its wrath.
"On your feet, Vector!" he commanded, his voice still strong and focused.
Vector rose, regained his focus, and turned toward the two large wooden doors. He ran up the steps, hesitating for an instant at the top. Sargent Lancer called out to him. Turning, Vector met his gaze––a look of reassurance, pride, acceptance, but most of all, hope.
With that, Lancer deactivated the plasma weapon and tossed it to Vector Lux. They exchanged nods.
Vector now knew with all certainty that the fate of the world was in his hands. Yet, for a moment, he found himself unable to move forward. He turned once more for a final lingering glance back at Sargent Lancer, fully aware of the fate that awaited him once he walked through those doors. It was a feeling of hopelessness.
Summoning all his resolve, he pushed through the heavy doors and into his throne room.
The throne room of Kayn.

2024.06.01 05:39 Emotional-Action-385 I Don’t Know Where To Go

I'm young, (15, almost done with my sophomore year to be exact), and I was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism when I was four years old. I've always had a hard time making friends due to this and due to the fact that I was placed in special education for having an early diagnosis which lead to me being isolated from other kids and never learning how to develop friendships.
Ever since I entered middle school, my friendships and friend group became a lot more complicated, (I think this was due to middle school itself, but also COVID played a part in it as well as it started in my 6th grade year). Well basically in 7th grade, I was in a relationship with my best friend, (male, I was female at the time, will get to my gender identity later), and it ended really horribly and we hated each other for the rest of middle school and it tore our friend group apart and some guys that I thought were my friends took his side even though he mentally gaslighted me.
Flash forward to eighth grade, I became a loner, and then a girl, (we will call her Katie), that I didn't know very well, ended up inviting me to sit next her, this led to me meeting a whole new array of people over the course of several months that stretched into high school, (which was also when my ex moved away), and Katie would eventually become my best friend for a while.
So when we get to 10th grade, (this current year), I had decided to take AP Euro as my first AP Class, the year before I had taken honors civics, (we weren't allowed to take AP's in 9th grade), and Katie, seeing that I really struggled to adapt to honors civics, did not want me to do AP euro, but my dad had recommend the course to me and I love history and didn't care for what Katie had to say. So I took the course. Now it's also important to add that I do cross country and I choose to do honors English this year because I did really well in regular English last year. So anyways, I get a C+ on my first test and I feel like shit because it's a map test and everyone else got an A on it. So anyways my parents attempt to talk me out of doing AP Euro, and they are not successful, the next Friday, I had a race and I started crying by the end of the race and I wouldn't stop bailing my eyes out and to make matters worse, this is when my parents decided to sit me down to talk about my grades, they told me that they wanted me to drop honors English and AP euro because it was too much for me while I just sat their crying, anyways they let me go to my room, and I texted Katie and two others girls that I was close with and this guy, (who will be called Stonewall), and none of them responded except for Stonewall, who basically saved my life that night because I was thinking about suicide as a way of getting out of that horrible night, (I have never told him this), anyways I was also thinking about self-harm, which I did the next morning due to the stress I was feeling, anyways when I told Katie that I had self-harmed, she was less than supportive, when she suggested essentially what my parents were saying, drop euro and honors English, and I knowing this would pass, didn't.
I eventually got through and I thought things were fine between me and Katie until I messaged her about us being distant and she told me that I had overwhelmed her by dragging her into my mental health struggles and it was too much for her to deal with and she needed a break from me. This devastated me obviously, and Stonewall once again helped me through it.
Then everything was fine for few months until I found out that she didn't invite me to her birthday party. Thats when I knew, however it wasn't until Valentine's Day when I was told, not by Katie herself but by another friend that she didn't want me to be her friend anymore.
I've been struggling with self-harm ever since because I was kicked out of Katie's friend group and was in the psych ward a few weeks ago for suicidal behavior related to what had happened between us and me feeling lonely as shit.
I honestly don't know what to do anymore, stonewall, another guy and girl are basically all I have left for friends and I just want more friends.
How can I make more friends?
I wanna stop being lonely and feeling like such a loser all the time.

2024.06.01 05:18 lurktronic Lanosterol 8w results - thoughts?

I did 3X a day, 1 drop per eye. 13 year female old shih zhu terrier mix.
I tried to take a variety of photos using the front phone camera with screen-lit flash about a foot away (these are zoomed in). There is a before set and an after set. I personally feel that there is a difference, but I was wondering what others think. I also wanted to post an example for others since I see this question asked occasionally.
I did this for 8 weeks because it seemed like 6ish weeks was the treatment length, so I just finished the bottle. Would I get better results by using another bottle?

“Someone is coming through for you but it’s not a relative, dear.”
Genevieve could see the woman across from her was skeptical in her practice, speaking to those who had passed. She’d explained that she’d only come in out of curiosity not because she wanted a reading. And Genevieve had almost immediately heard someone for her, a sort of desperate pleading that was rare and fueled by a deep love. The stranger regarded her with a frown of confusion, fidgeting with her own hands as she glanced around the room. Tapestries hung draped across the walls while a red neon sign depicting an open palm flickered in the corner of the dimly lit space.
“He… he says to dress warmly tomorrow. To wear your long, powder blue coat and the brown leather boots you wore yesterday.”
The stranger’s demeanor immediately shifted as she glanced up at Genevieve with wide eyes, all suspicion suddenly gone and replaced by what seemed to be a mixture of fear and shock. She’d seen the look a thousand times before so she offered a warm, understanding smile as she gave the woman time to process the message. Genevieve didn’t understand it herself though it wasn’t her job to. She was simply there to act as a translator
“If he’s not a relative then how do I know him? How does he know me?”
The words were just above a whisper while she went back to glancing around the room as though she was expecting to see some sort of ghost. Again, it wasn’t anything that Genevieve hadn’t seen before. In an attempt to provide some sort of comfort to the woman as well as satisfy her own curiosity, Genevieve took her fidgeting hands and pulled them to rest on the table. Turning the woman’s delicate hands over, she exposed her palms so they faced the ceiling while her eyes traced over the lines she saw.
“He was your lover it seems. And is quite taken with you still it sounds like,” the medium explained with a fond smile. She could hear the man speaking to her, telling her about the woman across from her, about how he had waited so long for a chance to speak with her. His love for her was so obvious that it came with a sort of pain that Genevieve felt herself. It was evident from his tone alone that being unable to speak with the woman who had wandered into her shop had been agony for him.
“He likes your hair like that, up. He likes being able to see your face,” she murmured softly, her thumb brushing over one of the longer lines that ran across the woman’s palm before picking her hand up to view it more closely.
“And he says that he’d like for you to know that he’s with you often. I wouldn’t be surprised if you felt him from time too. Tends to happen when a bond between souls is that strong.” Her voice came in a thoughtful tone, her fingers smoothing over the woman’s hand to try and provide some sort of comfort but as she took in the stranger’s face all she saw was worry.
“I don’t have any lovers who have passed away.”
The confession was followed by the stranger attempting to pull her hands away through Genevieve’s grip tightened while her head turned to the left, her eyes flickering over the corner of the room where she could feel the presence radiating from. Spirits didn’t show up for the incorrect people. They never had in all of her years of practice. And then she heard it. Heard him explain where he was from.
“Where are you going tomorrow?”
As Genevieve asked the question, the knot in her stomach told her that she already knew the answer, knew why the woman had a lover who was deceased that she’d seemingly never met. She’d be meeting him soon.
“The tree maze,” she answered a bit breathlessly while searching Genevieve’s face as the medium continued to stare at the corner of the room. At the same time she answered, so did her lover, his voice breathless all the same as he spoke. ‘To meet me’.

After a break from writing and roleplaying brought on a rather miserable period of writer’s block, I’m searching for a partner to write with in hopes of undoing the unpleasant spell I seem to be stuck in:) Above is a blurb I wrote that came from the idea I’m hoping to build off of.
I’m a twenty four year old woman living in EST who has been writing on and off for eleven years give or take. I enjoy reading in my free time as well as gardening and obsessing over my cats.
A multitude of genres interest me from more modern, crime driven plots to high fantasy adventures. But romance is a common theme I enjoy including in all of my stories as I find relationship dynamics to be some of the most interesting things to explore especially when playing out in different worlds.
Today I’m looking to write something that shows two people who are from different times, making it appear as if they are from different worlds entirely. And through a woman accidentally traveling back in time, a love is born that changes history itself. If intrigued by the simple outline, I’d love to share ideas and build a full plot out together that way everyone’s interests can be included! I’m also a firm believer that constructing a plot with someone else is half the fun of a writing together.:)
If interested please be
Here’s some things I’m hoping to include in our story: -lots of angst. All the angst. -flash backs and tying the future to the past -political intrigue -an unstable land that brings our characters together through navigating difficulties -light supernatural or fantasy elements that are mainly a mystery to our characters -a history involving mythology and lore that we can create ourselves and tie into our world -a male character who is not so secretly obsessed with the fiery, strong willed female lead
If this story is one you’d like to help create, message me a bit about you and your interests as far as writing goes and please have a sample ready as well! I have my own that I’ll be happy to send:)
